  So this one's about SpaceX and starlink, if you're not

  familiar, star link is SpaceX and Elon musk's global.

  Satellite internet which will be launched on Starship in the

  coming years. And they've already have some of
• 3:55
  these Space X star links up in the sky.

  Right now there are over the Earth floating around.

  And the cool thing is people in rural areas that have no

  internet access or have very limited internet access will be
• 4:12
  able to get high-speed broadband.

  Like probably faster than my internet right now.

  From the sky, like how crazy is that it's coming from the sky.

  The internet is beaming down to you from the sky and this is

  going to be great for places like like I said before rural

  areas, I mean my sister lives 10 minutes away from here.

  She's just over a mountain. You know she's just over Hill

  and she doesn't get good internet.

  She can't get it because the isps are like, well, sorry we

  can't just do a bunch of lines under the ground because it's It

  cost us thousands of dollars to send the cables up your road you

  know tens of thousands of dollars and they you know that

  if at that point they say if you're willing to cover our

  costs we will put it in. It's like dude why would I why

  would I pay ten thousand dollars to hit?

  Internet up the road and for all my neighbors get in and up the

  road. That's just silly.

  So this what starlink is for starlink is for people like that

  that have no internet connectivity and Basically, what

  they do is they have a pizza box size transmitter that will, you

  know, connect to the starlink satellites and then that'll beam
• 5:29
  down internet signal to. And from your device is now
• 5:34
  start like is amazing. It's a, it's a good concept.

  And so far, they're testing a bunch of satellites, and it's
• 5:41
  not quite there yet, but because they show an initiative, the US
• 5:48
  Military. Has taken a little peek at it
• 5:52
  and said, hey, this looks like a good idea.

  And we might need this for the Air Force.

  So the Air Force is using starlink satellites.

  Encrypted, starlink satellites on a number of military planes.

  That's what they're going to be doing.

  And this is the first paying customer for the planned
• 6:19
  constellation of thousands of broadband beaming satellites
• 6:26
  Gwynne. Shotwell who's the CEO of SpaceX
• 6:29
  said, we are delivering high bandwidth into the cockpit of
• 6:32
  Air Force planes. Right now, we're just testing
• 6:34
  the capability figuring out how to make it work.
• 6:39
  So SpaceX has been working with a government for A long time,
• 6:42
  they've been working with NASA forever and they've been doing
• 6:45
  launch to the International Space Station, Etc.
• 6:48
  So, this is not that big of a deal.
• 6:49
  It's just Communications, right? SpaceX have a plan of about
• 6:56
  30,000 of these satellites in low earth orbit that will be in
• 7:00
  broadband internet around the globe.

  And this is going to make SpaceX a ton of money.

  This is not just, you know about Bringing Broadband to a bunch of
• 7:12
  people. This is a way for them to Pivot
• 7:14
  a little bit from launching. Is this what they did for a
• 7:17
  while? There they launched?

  Other people said lights and they launched other people's
• 7:20
  stuff. So instead of launching other
• 7:23
  people's stuff, they're launching their own stuff.

  There are satellites, 30,000 of them and then they'll have
• 7:29
  customers pay for the ability to use these satellites to have a A
• 7:34
  Broadband signal wherever they are and this could be literally
• 7:40
  in the middle of the desert. With no one around.

  As long as you have that pizza box, things that I was talking
• 7:44
  about before then. You can get this Broadband
• 7:50
  satellite internet. Now, the thing is also is that
• 7:55
  SpaceX launches these, right? So they launched them, And they
• 8:00
  deliver the satellites. So, possibly the Space X and Air
• 8:05
  Force will be working together to fund some of those launches
• 8:08
  as well. This is the Air Force program is
• 8:11
  called Global lightning. And they started testing this in
• 8:14
  early of 2018. And the, you start links first
• 8:18
  to test satellites to beam internet two terminals fix to
• 8:22
  ac-12 military transport plane in flight.

  So, this isn't just a stationary thing, this is Inflate it's
• 8:30
  moving. It's going hundreds of miles an
• 8:32
  hour and they got 600 10, megabits per second.
• 8:37
  That's fast enough to download a movie in under a minute.

  So think about that. I know we've all been trying to,
• 8:45
  You Know, download games or big files but that's under a minute
• 8:50
  in a moving vehicle. So in this plane They got 600 10
• 8:56
  megabits per second, that's absolutely insane speeds.

  And for me, you know, my internet is pretty good but to
• 9:06
  download a movie it would take me about 10 minutes, you know?

  Not bad. That's not bad.

  But under a minute that's insane speeds and SpaceX launch these
• 9:18
  first 60 satellites in May and they plan on launching another
• 9:23
  60. In November from an Air Force
• 9:26
  Base in Florida. So SpaceX and the Pentagon or
• 9:32
  working together with this, you know, the Air Force part of the
• 9:35
  military and it's a 28 million dollar contract.

  It's ongoing and they're going to be doing more testing in the
• 9:44
  future and when they do that I'll make sure to let you all
