- 0:09Speaker 1: is Michael Bennett on this Monday, June twenty ninth, I
- 0:13Speaker 1: should say an absolutely exhausted Michael Bennett. But it's okay.
- 0:18Speaker 1: I'm here, I'm excited. I'm so excited to be back.
- 0:21Speaker 1: And the only I'm choking on my own spit. What
- 0:28Speaker 1: a way to start a show. But this is the
- 0:31Speaker 1: sad part about it. I mean, this is this is
- 0:34Speaker 1: really sad. This is the last week of Matthew Childress
- 0:41Speaker 1: and I am so sad about this. As Matthew Childress
- 0:45Speaker 1: joins me on his last Monday here at the Big X.
- 0:48Speaker 1: But if you want to call in five two three
- 0:50Speaker 1: four fourteen fifty, are you text me at the Whiskey
- 0:53Speaker 1: Thief text line five oh two four one four fourteen fifty,
- 0:56Speaker 1: or you tweet me at justic caat radio justin justin
- 0:59Speaker 1: my gosh, I don't know what's wrong with I know
- 1:04Speaker 1: it exactly. Then that's exactly how I would respond to
- 1:08Speaker 1: you should have responded that way.
- 1:09Speaker 2: But Matthew, how are you? I'm good? Are you good? Yeah? Okay?
- 1:16Speaker 2: Are you a little melancholy though? Or not? Really? You're ready?
- 1:20Speaker 3: I mean this has always been, like my dream was
- 1:23Speaker 3: to talk about sports for a living. I wish it
- 1:27Speaker 3: was in a better situation so that I wouldn't have
- 1:31Speaker 3: to leave. Yeah, but things happen in life and things
- 1:35Speaker 3: that always work out, so well, if it doesn't work out,
- 1:37Speaker 3: you know, you can always come back. I mean, I
- 1:41Speaker 3: guess technically, yes, I could come back. Yeah, but I
- 1:44Speaker 3: would more or less be in the same situation I'm
- 1:46Speaker 3: in now if I come back.
- 1:47Speaker 2: Really okay, I it's it's kind of it's little.
- 1:50Speaker 3: It's not like a, oh, I'm so excited to hop
- 1:52Speaker 3: out of here and do something else, Like I'm really not,
- 1:55Speaker 3: Like I want to keep doing this, Like I'm moving
- 1:58Speaker 3: to Florida with a bigger market, so hopefully I can
- 2:01Speaker 3: you know, do it for a higher salary and try
- 2:04Speaker 3: and make a career out of it. It's looking pretty
- 2:07Speaker 3: hard to do that right now, but I'm trying my best.
- 2:10Speaker 3: But yeah, I am sad because I don't want to leave,
- 2:14Speaker 3: like I don't well, I mean, I'm excited to move,
- 2:16Speaker 3: I guess, but I don't want to quit doing this,
- 2:18Speaker 3: So I don't want to leave you guys, Like I
- 2:20Speaker 3: wish it was under Like I said, I wish it
- 2:21Speaker 3: was under different circumstances.
- 2:22Speaker 2: I do too, but it's just it's kind of where
- 2:25Speaker 2: I'm at. Yeah, I get it.
- 2:28Speaker 1: But anyway, I'm gonna Michael Bennett is going to miss
- 2:31Speaker 1: Matthew Childress. I just want you to know that. So anyway,
- 2:35Speaker 1: I just thought to throw that out there, but I
- 2:37Speaker 1: just gonna miss Michael Bennett. Oh really, I appreciate that.
- 2:40Speaker 1: That might be the first time I ever heard do
- 2:42Speaker 1: you refer to yourself in third person?
- 2:43Speaker 2: I kind of like it.
- 2:44Speaker 1: But anyway, I'm tired. I did not get back into
- 2:48Speaker 1: Louisville until, let me think, twelve thirty last night, got home,
- 2:54Speaker 1: got in bed not until one fifteen, one twenty, and
- 2:58Speaker 1: of course i'd get.
- 2:59Speaker 3: Up early, but it went to sp later than I
- 3:01Speaker 3: did last night. Really, all what time did you go
- 3:03Speaker 3: to bed?
- 3:04Speaker 2: Like eleven thirty?
- 3:05Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, I definitely went to It's crazy you know
- 3:08Speaker 1: I left Spokane if you don't know, I had to
- 3:11Speaker 1: go out to Spokane, Washington to unfortunately go to a funeral,
- 3:16Speaker 1: my mother in law's funeral. Rosemary bought a celli or
- 3:20Speaker 1: as my dad used to call her, Rosie baby, which
- 3:24Speaker 1: which he never wanted to do. That to her face.
- 3:27Speaker 1: But then she caught him a couple of times. She
- 3:28Speaker 1: thought it was funny. But but yeah, my dad called
- 3:32Speaker 1: her Rosie baby. But yeah, Rosemary bought it. Chelli but
- 3:35Speaker 1: very nice lady knew me, for good lord forty more
- 3:39Speaker 1: than most of my life. And so we had to
- 3:42Speaker 1: go out there and do that, which was sad. But
- 3:44Speaker 1: I will say, Matthew, I'd go back out there in
- 3:48Speaker 1: a second. We stayed in a place I think I
- 3:52Speaker 1: told you last week, Cordelaine, Idaho.
- 3:55Speaker 2: Yeah. I got to play golf. That was fun.
- 3:59Speaker 1: I played golf at a place where, uh, it's a
- 4:02Speaker 1: resort there in Cordoline where they have a par three
- 4:06Speaker 1: where the island is literally in the in a lake
- 4:10Speaker 1: and you have to take a boat to go putt
- 4:13Speaker 1: on the green and they can. It's on an island,
- 4:17Speaker 1: so they can move the the putting green back and
- 4:20Speaker 1: forth to make it different links every day. It was
- 4:24Speaker 1: really cool. Played with these two hilarious Canadian guys. I
- 4:29Speaker 1: mean a couple of times I didn't understand what they
- 4:32Speaker 1: were saying. But one guy comes up. He comes up
- 4:36Speaker 1: to me and says, Michael, you're kind of high strung.
- 4:41Speaker 1: I started dying laughing. I said, really, I said, thanks
- 4:44Speaker 1: a lot. I don't know if that's a compliment or not.
- 4:46Speaker 1: He goes, no, it's a compliment. He just you're not
- 4:50Speaker 1: when I first met you. You're not the person I
- 4:51Speaker 1: expected to be. So we had fun with them. We
- 4:56Speaker 1: had One thing that happened on the trip is have
- 5:03Speaker 1: you ever heard of this? I'm literally driving to the
- 5:07Speaker 1: church where the funeral is going to happen. I made
- 5:12Speaker 1: a wrong turn, had to turn around. I get pulled over.
- 5:18Speaker 1: I proceed to tell the police officer, sir, I'm coming
- 5:22Speaker 1: to your town for a funeral for my mother in law,
- 5:26Speaker 1: with my father in law right here next to me.
- 5:28Speaker 1: I apologize anything you can do. He proceeds to give
- 5:35Speaker 1: me a lecture and guess what, gives me a ticket
- 5:41Speaker 1: on top of it all. And I just looked at him.
- 5:44Speaker 1: I says, really appreciate you making a bad day even worse,
- 5:47Speaker 1: and he.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Just walks off. Can you all right?
- 5:50Speaker 1: If you were a police officer and you heard everybody's
- 5:55Speaker 1: dressed up, we're all in dark, and somebody said to you,
- 5:58Speaker 1: we're on our way to a funeral, would you have
- 6:00Speaker 1: given them a ticket?
- 6:02Speaker 2: What day was this? Saturday.
- 6:05Speaker 3: Okay, so it was the twenty seven I don't know
- 6:07Speaker 3: what day it was, with the Saturn make end of
- 6:09Speaker 3: the month. That man needed a quote it to hit.
- 6:11Speaker 2: And oh, okay, yeah, he had let too many people off,
- 6:15Speaker 2: he'd heard too many funeral stories.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Oh is that what it is? You don't think he
- 6:18Speaker 1: believed that I was going to a funeral.
- 6:21Speaker 2: I don't think he believed you.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I think you're right. I mean I I was
- 6:25Speaker 1: literally less than a mile away from the church and
- 6:28Speaker 1: get pulled over and the dude just, well, the signs
- 6:31Speaker 1: are clearly marked when you were going sixty five miles
- 6:34Speaker 1: And I said, dude, I just turned around. I didn't
- 6:36Speaker 1: see any sign. I was slowing down anyway. But yeah,
- 6:40Speaker 1: the guy gave me a ticket. I just it just
- 6:43Speaker 1: right now.
- 6:43Speaker 2: It irks me.
- 6:44Speaker 3: Do you want to know the one thing that I'm
- 6:46Speaker 3: most excited about moving? Yes, getting away from Waters Expressway.
- 6:50Speaker 3: Really I hate that road. It's awful because it's it's
- 6:56Speaker 3: like six lanes. It's fifty five miles an hour, so
- 6:58Speaker 3: it's not like it's way too for how many lanes
- 7:00Speaker 3: there are two. Everybody who drives on it goes like
- 7:04Speaker 3: eighty five agreed, But if I go the same speed
- 7:07Speaker 3: as them, I seem to be the one that always
- 7:09Speaker 3: gets pulled over.
- 7:10Speaker 2: That is true.
- 7:11Speaker 3: I'm sitting here like everybody is going the same speed.
- 7:14Speaker 3: How am I getting pulled over? And then if you
- 7:17Speaker 3: go the speed limit, dudes are like flying passage. Yeah,
- 7:20Speaker 3: they are, Like I feel like I'm in the slow lane.
- 7:22Speaker 3: So I can't stand every I've gotten in my entire life.
- 7:27Speaker 3: I may be gotten four or five tickets, have you really?
- 7:29Speaker 2: Yeah? Wow, that's a lot. Three of them are all
- 7:32Speaker 2: on that road, are they really? Okay?
- 7:34Speaker 1: Wait, I hate to tell you I four between Tampa
- 7:38Speaker 1: and Orlando. You're gonna hate even worse. Just telling you
- 7:42Speaker 1: you be prepared. There is an expressway between Tampa and
- 7:46Speaker 1: Orlando and you have to drive on it. Yep, I've
- 7:49Speaker 1: driven it. Yeah you're you're gonna hate it more than
- 7:51Speaker 1: the Waterston Expressway.
- 7:53Speaker 2: So there you go.
- 7:53Speaker 1: But yeah, never dreamed a police officer would give me,
- 7:57Speaker 1: give anyone a ticket when they're on the way literally.
- 7:59Speaker 2: To the funeral.
- 8:00Speaker 1: All right, So I'm in the I'm in the of course,
- 8:02Speaker 1: it's a Catholic mass, and I know nothing about Catholicism. Okay, nothing,
- 8:07Speaker 1: I grew up in a small non nominational church called
- 8:12Speaker 1: the Church Christ. Well, I go to Westport Road Church Christ.
- 8:15Speaker 1: You want to come meet me one day, come to
- 8:16Speaker 1: church on Sunday. I'll be there. But so I'm in
- 8:20Speaker 1: there and the priest is saying, if you would like
- 8:23Speaker 1: to come up and take communion, we're going to invite
- 8:27Speaker 1: all to come up here. I looked at my wife.
- 8:30Speaker 1: I said, Patricia, should I take communion? I said, I'm
- 8:34Speaker 1: not Catholic? Should I do it? And you're you know,
- 8:38Speaker 1: you're not Catholic anymore either, And she's like, Michael, you
- 8:41Speaker 1: do what you're comfortable with. And I'm like, okay, Well,
- 8:43Speaker 1: I'd like to honor your mom, so I'll take it.
- 8:46Speaker 1: You think that's okay? And she's like, Michael, you do
- 8:48Speaker 1: what you do. So I get up there. I'm in
- 8:51Speaker 1: line to go take communion from the priest. And the
- 8:56Speaker 1: priest looks at me and says, are you Catholic? And
- 9:01Speaker 1: I said no, And he says, you don't get communion?
- 9:06Speaker 1: Like okay, and you wanted to go back to this place? Well,
- 9:09Speaker 1: I know, I mean this is like what I get.
- 9:12Speaker 1: I get a speeding ticket on the way to the funeral,
- 9:15Speaker 1: and I'm denied communion.
- 9:16Speaker 2: Isn't the whole thing about Christianity is supposed to be welcoming.
- 9:19Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 9:20Speaker 1: I mean, well, I'm not trying to throw the Catholic
- 9:22Speaker 1: Church under the bus at all, but I just the
- 9:25Speaker 1: guy said, if anyone wants to come up and take communion,
- 9:29Speaker 1: I assume that men anyone? Am I my ro So
- 9:34Speaker 1: I was embarrassed. I looked at my wife. I'm like,
- 9:37Speaker 1: thanks for throwing me under the bus.
- 9:38Speaker 2: No you're not. He's a crap priest.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Oh don't say that now. No, I'm not gonna say that.
- 9:44Speaker 1: But I just is like, back, he's a priest. He's
- 9:49Speaker 1: supposed to be the most welcoming person.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Ever. That's exactly what I thought. Who cares of you're Catholic?
- 9:54Speaker 2: That's and that's what I thought too.
- 9:55Speaker 1: I'm just trying to honor my mother in law who
- 9:59Speaker 1: unfortunately he passed away, and I thought it would be
- 10:02Speaker 1: nice if Michael Bennett, who goes to a completely different church,
- 10:05Speaker 1: would take communion in her church in her honor.
- 10:09Speaker 3: Anyway, I mean, what was he trying? Does he think
- 10:11Speaker 3: you were trying to sneak a snack?
- 10:12Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 10:13Speaker 1: I mean it's like, wow, man, I did notice it
- 10:16Speaker 1: that when he was going through the service, he took
- 10:19Speaker 1: a big chomp out of the Uh they call it
- 10:22Speaker 1: something else, but it's the cracker that they eat, the
- 10:25Speaker 1: community cracker.
- 10:26Speaker 2: Yeah you Chris is what they call it. I'm calling
- 10:29Speaker 2: him out.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Yeah, it's just like, wow, man, that dude's hungry. I
- 10:32Speaker 1: mean he took a big drink of whatever they were
- 10:34Speaker 1: drinking up there. I don't know if it was grape
- 10:36Speaker 1: juice or wine, especially in the middle of a funeral.
- 10:38Speaker 3: Yeah, like if it was like a if it was
- 10:40Speaker 3: like a regular sermon or something, right one, I still
- 10:44Speaker 3: wouldn't condone just yelling somebody out like that. But I
- 10:47Speaker 3: guess that's different because you're in a Catholic sermon. This
- 10:51Speaker 3: is a funeral with random people in this person's family
- 10:53Speaker 3: who not everybody's gonna be Catholics, Like they're just trying
- 10:57Speaker 3: to be there for somebody.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Well, the guy literally said, now, granted it was a
- 11:01Speaker 1: different priest, so one priest was a guest priest and
- 11:04Speaker 1: that's uh uh what was the speaker?
- 11:07Speaker 2: And he said everybody was welcome.
- 11:09Speaker 1: Now, the priest that is actually at that church was
- 11:12Speaker 1: the one giving out the crackers for communion. He is
- 11:15Speaker 1: the one that asked, and I asked the priest afterwards,
- 11:19Speaker 1: the one that said everyone is welcome because he goes Yeah,
- 11:22Speaker 1: he's a little different.
- 11:23Speaker 2: He should have let you have that. I'm sorry you
- 11:26Speaker 2: had the cracker police.
- 11:27Speaker 1: Actually I am too. I was absolutely I mean talk
- 11:33Speaker 1: about denied. I mean everyone's looking at me now. It's
- 11:37Speaker 1: like that dude didn't easy.
- 11:38Speaker 2: I would have made a scene. You're better than me. Oh,
- 11:40Speaker 2: you would have made a scene your mother in law's funeral.
- 11:44Speaker 2: I want to rip the damn cracker out of his hands.
- 11:47Speaker 2: I would.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Maybe you should have taken not just a cracker, take
- 11:50Speaker 1: the whole bull. I can't have one, no one, can.
- 11:53Speaker 3: You know what? You want to be lazy and sit
- 11:55Speaker 3: up here. I'll go hand them out. You guys, go
- 11:57Speaker 3: sit down and relax. I'll go hand the crackers out.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Yeah, this is a cracker free zone, is what it became.
- 12:05Speaker 2: But I don't know. I was.
- 12:06Speaker 1: I was completely mortified by this, and so I just
- 12:10Speaker 1: I went to the other priest. Well, if you're not
- 12:11Speaker 1: going to take him, and you go to the other
- 12:13Speaker 1: priest and receive a blessing, So I go to the
- 12:16Speaker 1: other priest and he's.
- 12:17Speaker 2: You can't get a cracker, but you can get a
- 12:18Speaker 2: blessing exactly.
- 12:20Speaker 1: So I was getting a blessing instead, and I just
- 12:23Speaker 1: I don't know what the protocol is. And I just
- 12:25Speaker 1: looked at him, says, I said, father, you're doing a
- 12:27Speaker 1: wonderful job. Thank you very much.
- 12:29Speaker 2: You're not allowed to eat a cracker, but you can
- 12:31Speaker 2: talk to Jesus. Yeah, I know. I just uh.
- 12:34Speaker 3: Anyway, it's just as church just wasn't get enough donations
- 12:37Speaker 3: the last Sunday.
- 12:39Speaker 1: I don't know, I don't know, but this is in
- 12:41Speaker 1: a small town called Colefax, Washington. So if you go
- 12:46Speaker 1: to Colefax, Washington, please don't speed because there's a jerk
- 12:50Speaker 1: there that's going to pull you over, even if it's
- 12:52Speaker 1: your death day.
- 12:54Speaker 3: Do you think that that dude goes to that church
- 12:57Speaker 3: and he told the priest, He's like, don't let this
- 12:59Speaker 3: guy get any community.
- 13:02Speaker 1: Is that what it is? This is a conspiracy against.
- 13:06Speaker 3: Me the tiny little town. Yet they gotta show that
- 13:09Speaker 3: they run that town.
- 13:09Speaker 1: The only thing they want to give me is a ticket.
- 13:11Speaker 1: They won't give me any crackers for communion. Here's the
- 13:15Speaker 1: funny part. I start in my head for some reason.
- 13:19Speaker 1: As I'm going up to the blessing, a song comes
- 13:21Speaker 1: in my mind by a band called in Excess, and
- 13:25Speaker 1: it's called The Devil Inside. And I'm doing my best
- 13:28Speaker 1: to not sing the song because I think it's inappropriate.
- 13:31Speaker 1: It's like, I can't be singing this song the Devil
- 13:34Speaker 1: Inside while I'm in a funeral at a Catholic church
- 13:37Speaker 1: and I'm about to receive a blessing even though it
- 13:40Speaker 1: was denied community. So I don't know all my Catholic
- 13:43Speaker 1: friends out there. I'm not making fun of the Catholic church.
- 13:47Speaker 1: I promise you I'm not, But I do want to
- 13:49Speaker 1: know the protocol. Was I not supposed to go up there?
- 13:52Speaker 1: My wife just completely threw me into the bus and said,
- 13:55Speaker 1: do what you feel is best. Or was he supposed
- 13:59Speaker 1: to give me a lit little bit of a cracker
- 14:00Speaker 1: and then and then move on.
- 14:02Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 14:02Speaker 1: I'd like my Catholic friends to get involved now, so
- 14:06Speaker 1: and let me know. By the way, Uh, if you
- 14:08Speaker 1: want to watch us on YouTube, you can go search
- 14:11Speaker 1: us on YouTube at Big X Sports Radio Louisville. So
- 14:16Speaker 1: that's what you need to do. But I told I
- 14:18Speaker 1: told him the priest. I'm gonna call him minister. He
- 14:21Speaker 1: wanted to talk to me the entire time. Once he
- 14:23Speaker 1: found out somebody told him I did a radio show.
- 14:26Speaker 1: All he wanted to do was talk to me about Gonzaga.
- 14:29Speaker 1: He goes, you know we beat Kentucky, don't you. And
- 14:32Speaker 1: I'm like, yeah, I remember that name that game, and
- 14:35Speaker 1: then he says, Then he proceeds to tell me, well,
- 14:38Speaker 1: my nephew went to another school and he always takes
- 14:41Speaker 1: me to one game a year. I go, oh, that's awesome.
- 14:45Speaker 1: What school is this He says, well, it's Notre Dame.
- 14:48Speaker 1: And I'm in my head, I'm doing my best not
- 14:51Speaker 1: to say how much I despise Notre Dame. Then he
- 14:54Speaker 1: wants to talk about nil and I mean he was
- 14:57Speaker 1: talking to me more more than anybody else. All you
- 15:00Speaker 1: want to do is talk about sports. He found out
- 15:02Speaker 1: I was in the horse racing. He wanted He had
- 15:04Speaker 1: an uncle that was a trainer, so he want to
- 15:07Speaker 1: talk about horse racing. So here we are going from
- 15:10Speaker 1: horse racing to n I l and I did put
- 15:14Speaker 1: in there though, Matthew, you'd be proud of me. I
- 15:17Speaker 1: did put in there that Notre Dame needs to join
- 15:21Speaker 1: a conference and that it is unfair the amount of
- 15:25Speaker 1: He goes a, yeah, he agreed with me.
- 15:27Speaker 2: From that Stamps didn't call the cops and have a drone.
- 15:30Speaker 1: Maybe that's it. Yeah, maybe the priest arranged for me
- 15:34Speaker 1: to get a ticket.
- 15:35Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 15:35Speaker 1: I'm just kidding. He was a really nice guy. I
- 15:38Speaker 1: enjoyed the visiting priest. The other one kind of didn't
- 15:41Speaker 1: make me happy. But it's okay, he said. Here's the
- 15:45Speaker 1: thing about it. He goes, he's from India, Michael, he
- 15:47Speaker 1: might not. Yeah, they're a little different. So anyway, that's
- 15:51Speaker 1: that's what he said to me. But I had a
- 15:53Speaker 1: great time get back. Last night, I remembered, I'm like,
- 15:58Speaker 1: why am I so hungry? I had any dinner. I
- 16:02Speaker 1: had a little bit of lunch and a small breakfast.
- 16:05Speaker 1: So what did I do. There's only one place that's
- 16:08Speaker 1: open between the airport and my house. I stopped at
- 16:13Speaker 1: Rallies at twelve fifteen last night, twelve thirty and I
- 16:19Speaker 1: get in line, go there, get my stuff. Dude's like, hey,
- 16:21Speaker 1: what kind of watch you got there? And I said, uh,
- 16:25Speaker 1: it's you know, it's a brand watch, and he goes,
- 16:28Speaker 1: oh cool. I said, he goes, which one is it.
- 16:31Speaker 1: I said, it's a presidential. He goes, oh, man, that's
- 16:35Speaker 1: a prezzi. And I'm like, I've never heard my watch
- 16:39Speaker 1: referred to as a presie. He goes, be careful while
- 16:42Speaker 1: you're in that prezzie around here, dude. So I thought
- 16:45Speaker 1: that was great. I mean, guy at twelve thirty at
- 16:47Speaker 1: night at rallies is calling my watch a prezzie. So anyway,
- 16:52Speaker 1: I that was my experience the last few days. So
- 16:55Speaker 1: there you go, interesting experiences.
- 16:58Speaker 2: It was.
- 16:59Speaker 1: It was went to a lake that was over one
- 17:01Speaker 1: thousand feet deep. I thought that was pretty cool. What
- 17:05Speaker 1: it is cold up there? By the way, it was
- 17:06Speaker 1: freezing up there. Yeah, it was like sixty five sixty
- 17:10Speaker 1: four on Saturday.
- 17:12Speaker 2: It was.
- 17:13Speaker 3: It was unbelievable degrees it was down here. I'd take
- 17:17Speaker 3: that in a second, amazing. I would take that in
- 17:20Speaker 3: a second.
- 17:21Speaker 2: Moving that couch I did yesterday outside? Who was fun? Dude?
- 17:24Speaker 1: You get ready? It's getting ready to get hut for
- 17:26Speaker 1: you as well, dude. Yeah, dude, Yeah, they do talk
- 17:29Speaker 1: funny up there. I will say that. I started teasing
- 17:33Speaker 1: all my wife's cousins. Tell him how funny they talk. Well,
- 17:36Speaker 1: we think the same thing to you, Michael. So it's
- 17:39Speaker 1: just a kind of an odd accident. I'm very nice people.
- 17:43Speaker 1: Here's the other thing I noticed. All right, this is
- 17:45Speaker 1: the other crazy part. So people would be driving in
- 17:47Speaker 1: the left lane. When people are driving in the left
- 17:50Speaker 1: lane here in Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, what do they do?
- 17:54Speaker 2: Go faster? They stay in the left lane. Oh they
- 17:57Speaker 2: never get over? Yeah.
- 17:59Speaker 1: Up there are out in Spokane, Washington. Guess what they're at.
- 18:04Speaker 1: They're driving the left lane and I'd come up behind him.
- 18:06Speaker 1: They would immediately get over every single time, not just once.
- 18:11Speaker 1: I'm talking every time. It was crazy. It's like I've
- 18:15Speaker 1: never seen this before. I love that.
- 18:18Speaker 2: That is interesting.
- 18:19Speaker 3: Yeah, that was interesting. Hey, because they're terrified of people speeding.
- 18:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know. Is that what it ish? Ticket?
- 18:28Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly. The guy from Coalfax, I should get his
- 18:31Speaker 1: name and call him out the Cole Fats police department. Anyway,
- 18:35Speaker 1: I kind of halfway thought about Colin and just asking
- 18:38Speaker 1: for the judge. Can he get me out of this?
- 18:40Speaker 1: Should I do that? Would you dare try? Would you
- 18:43Speaker 1: just write a check and say forget it, I'm paying
- 18:45Speaker 1: it and just be done with it? I have no idea.
- 18:48Speaker 1: I didn't even look. I was so mad. I didn't
- 18:50Speaker 1: look at.
- 18:51Speaker 3: It because for me, if it's less than like two
- 18:53Speaker 3: hundred bucks, then I would just pay it.
- 18:56Speaker 1: You'd pay it, Okay, I'll look at it and see
- 18:59Speaker 1: what it is. But it just I was just like, man,
- 19:02Speaker 1: literally two minutes away from the church, I'm going to
- 19:04Speaker 1: a funeral, and you write me a ticket. But whatever, dude,
- 19:08Speaker 1: all right, dude, we're gonna take our first break. We
- 19:10Speaker 1: do actually have sports to talk about today. Uh, you know,
- 19:15Speaker 1: I think it's kind of ooh, there it is right there.
- 19:17Speaker 1: See I was singing that the entire time I was
- 19:20Speaker 1: denied a comedian cracker.
- 19:23Speaker 2: That's just terrible. I can't believe I was singing that song. Anyway.
- 19:26Speaker 1: I got some UK football news. Uh it's Monday, so
- 19:29Speaker 1: we got Matthew soccer update. I'm looking forward to that.
- 19:33Speaker 1: And uh, it's sad day and horse racing yesterday, so
- 19:36Speaker 1: we'll talk about that as well. Stay right there, a
- 19:38Speaker 1: lot more of just the cats coming right up.
- 19:41Speaker 2: Well, but you come.
- 19:48Speaker 4: A little kid inside single the denside, inside the denside?
- 20:05Speaker 2: Is it terrible?
- 20:06Speaker 1: Then? I was singing this song in my head as
- 20:08Speaker 1: I'm encouraged, you know, I mean, to me, it is
- 20:11Speaker 1: it's terrible.
- 20:12Speaker 2: I got the devil inside. I don't know.
- 20:14Speaker 1: But by the way, Anthony White, Ben, how's how they
- 20:19Speaker 1: do on Thursteyen and Friday.
- 20:20Speaker 2: Did a great job? Did they really? It was fun
- 20:22Speaker 2: talking to them. Getting to meet him was really cool.
- 20:23Speaker 2: Did you enjoy that? Yeah? They were funny.
- 20:25Speaker 1: What was the one thing you probably enjoyed the most
- 20:28Speaker 1: talking about with them?
- 20:30Speaker 3: We talked I think it was on the first day. Yeah,
- 20:33Speaker 3: we were discussing, like they got into the conversation of
- 20:36Speaker 3: like who's like a blue blood program anymore?
- 20:38Speaker 2: Yeah, and for football or basketball?
- 20:40Speaker 3: Originally it was for basketball, okay, and that moved over
- 20:43Speaker 3: to football, and we got into this kind of discussion
- 20:45Speaker 3: about what the like requirements are to be something like
- 20:50Speaker 3: that and how sports who they got really in depth
- 20:54Speaker 3: how sports nowadays were like it's so in depth though,
- 20:57Speaker 3: like you can't just like I don't think national championships
- 21:00Speaker 3: enough to say so, Like there's a lot of other things.
- 21:01Speaker 3: You have to be consistent all of them. I think
- 21:03Speaker 3: the conversation went on for like an hour. I thought
- 21:05Speaker 3: it was were a conversation.
- 21:06Speaker 1: Wow, And and did you agree with what they were
- 21:09Speaker 1: coming up with as far as the criteria, and did
- 21:12Speaker 1: you agree with the outcome of what they defined as
- 21:15Speaker 1: blue bloods anymore?
- 21:16Speaker 3: Yeah, somewhat, Like we had some disagreements here and there,
- 21:18Speaker 3: but I think that overall, like we all were kind
- 21:20Speaker 3: of were on the same page.
- 21:21Speaker 1: Yeah, And who did y'all come up with as far
- 21:24Speaker 1: as blue bloods in basketball?
- 21:26Speaker 2: Right now?
- 21:27Speaker 3: We all kind of agreed. It's really just like only Duke,
- 21:30Speaker 3: only Duke. Like that was what the argument started, was like,
- 21:33Speaker 3: is Kentucky still one? Is this team still won like
- 21:35Speaker 3: they were? They brought up that Indiana used to be.
- 21:37Speaker 3: They were like, could you even count them? Because they
- 21:40Speaker 3: have five championships and they haven'tne anything a long time.
- 21:42Speaker 3: My argument, and I feel like we kind of all,
- 21:44Speaker 3: maybe they didn't fully agree with it, was is I
- 21:47Speaker 3: really only believe Duke is one of the only ones
- 21:50Speaker 3: right now? I see, I don't think Duke is. They're
- 21:53Speaker 3: just the ones that do it. The was consistent, and
- 21:55Speaker 3: like the point was that, like it doesn't come down
- 21:57Speaker 3: to winning championships. It comes down to can you bring
- 22:00Speaker 3: in recruits regularly? Are you better in the transfer portal regularly?
- 22:04Speaker 3: Do you constantly are you constantly in contention, like you
- 22:07Speaker 3: don't have to win win women, it's so hard to
- 22:09Speaker 3: win championships now, you don't like And we kind of
- 22:12Speaker 3: all came to the fact that, like, you know, there's
- 22:13Speaker 3: a lot of schools that have a lot of up
- 22:15Speaker 3: and downs right now, some of alonger than others.
- 22:18Speaker 2: Duke's the only one that's kind of survived both eras
- 22:20Speaker 2: and then been the same.
- 22:21Speaker 1: Fair enough, And what about football, because that's the one
- 22:24Speaker 1: where I would really want to get Van House and
- 22:26Speaker 1: Anthony White's opinion on that football.
- 22:29Speaker 2: We never really came down to a director.
- 22:31Speaker 1: Oh you didn't, okay, because I think if you ask me,
- 22:35Speaker 1: I think Alabama is really on the cusp of not
- 22:40Speaker 1: being a blue blood anymore.
- 22:41Speaker 2: But go ahead.
- 22:42Speaker 3: We were all kind of on the same page as
- 22:44Speaker 3: like I brought up that football is so much different
- 22:47Speaker 3: because at least throughout the my lifetime and like eras
- 22:50Speaker 3: before that, football is all about eras. Like it's like
- 22:53Speaker 3: there's the Miami era, there's the Alabama era, there's the
- 22:55Speaker 3: Auburn era, there's the you know, there's the LSU era,
- 22:58Speaker 3: the SMU era. Yeah, there's these teams, they're the best
- 23:01Speaker 3: in the in the country for an extended period of time, right,
- 23:04Speaker 3: And I feel like you don't see that in basketball.
- 23:07Speaker 3: It's it's it's too random, oka, you know what I mean.
- 23:09Speaker 3: There's too many teams that are constantly contention all the time.
- 23:11Speaker 3: But I think the rules in football before hindered schools
- 23:14Speaker 3: from being blue bloods because it was just the top
- 23:16Speaker 3: two teams went to the championship every single year for
- 23:18Speaker 3: the longest time match. So there was no playoff, there
- 23:22Speaker 3: was no tournament, there was no like it was you're
- 23:24Speaker 3: either the number one or number two team or you're
- 23:26Speaker 3: in a bowl game. So like our do bowl games
- 23:29Speaker 3: count as a blue blood? You know?
- 23:30Speaker 2: Does that count?
- 23:31Speaker 3: So like we really didn't come We really didn't come
- 23:34Speaker 3: down to the fact of like are there any in
- 23:36Speaker 3: football because we made arguments is like, Okay, if you're
- 23:39Speaker 3: gonna say Alabama, then could you put Texas in there?
- 23:42Speaker 2: Yes? Absolutely.
- 23:43Speaker 3: We were like, I don't know, but if you're gonna
- 23:45Speaker 3: put Texas, you have to put schools like Oklahoma.
- 23:47Speaker 2: No. And I was like, if you're gonna put schools
- 23:49Speaker 2: like Oklahoma, you have to put school like Miami. I See.
- 23:53Speaker 3: The point is is like there's no, direct like basketball
- 23:56Speaker 3: is a lot easier because of their tournament's been around
- 23:59Speaker 3: for so long, You're right, Whereas, like, I think we
- 24:02Speaker 3: all kind of came to the agreement that, like, now
- 24:05Speaker 3: that there's a playoff and stuff like that, you might
- 24:07Speaker 3: be able to see that stuff kind of come into play.
- 24:09Speaker 3: But I think that the rules of football kind of
- 24:11Speaker 3: hindered you from ever having schools like that.
- 24:13Speaker 1: For the past, but for the current now and for
- 24:17Speaker 1: the future, it's different. You're yeah, I would agree with that,
- 24:19Speaker 1: but I would say that Alabama is probably somewhat a
- 24:25Speaker 1: blue blood. Yeah, I don't know if I would put
- 24:29Speaker 1: Miami in there. Yes, in the past, yes, right now,
- 24:34Speaker 1: I'm just I'm you don't like hearing this, But anybody
- 24:38Speaker 1: in the ACC I don't see as.
- 24:40Speaker 2: A blue blood. But you put Texas. Texas is the
- 24:44Speaker 2: Big twelve the whole time, You're well, and that's bad
- 24:47Speaker 2: and that's fair, exactly. I can't argue with that.
- 24:52Speaker 1: Uh, But with Texas now that they're a part of
- 24:54Speaker 1: the SEC, I almost put them leapfrog them over Alabama
- 24:59Speaker 1: because I I think they're kind of running the SEC
- 25:03Speaker 1: right now. So I see Alabama and you're so.
- 25:09Speaker 2: I agree with you there. Okay.
- 25:11Speaker 1: I look at Alabama, I see them as the blue
- 25:14Speaker 1: blood incoming, and I see I mean Texas as the
- 25:18Speaker 1: blue blood incoming. I see Alabama as a blue blood outgoing.
- 25:25Speaker 1: I don't see them surviving. I mean with Saban gone,
- 25:30Speaker 1: they're not really that big, big team everybody wants to
- 25:34Speaker 1: go to like they did five ten years ago. But
- 25:38Speaker 1: anybody else, I really can't think of anybody else. I
- 25:42Speaker 1: would not put Oklahoma in there. Georgia I would put
- 25:48Speaker 1: in there because again it goes to the criteria you're
- 25:52Speaker 1: using for basketball. They're still getting a lot of the
- 25:54Speaker 1: top recruits to come to Georgia and commit there. I
- 25:57Speaker 1: think Kirby Spark does a nice job. I would not
- 26:00Speaker 1: I would not put Florida in there. I would not
- 26:03Speaker 1: put LSU in there. Florida State, No Penn State, no
- 26:13Speaker 1: Ohio State, absolutely much as I hate that, Michigan absolutely,
- 26:20Speaker 1: But I'm I'm having a hard time thinking to anybody else,
- 26:23Speaker 1: who else am I missing?
- 26:25Speaker 2: No, I think that's anybody out west or maybe maybe Oregon.
- 26:30Speaker 2: But that's kind of a big question mark in there.
- 26:33Speaker 3: Yeah, but Van Hiles told us that like Oregon wasn't
- 26:37Speaker 3: really relevant before two thousand, correct, which you know that
- 26:40Speaker 3: was my whole lifetime, So that makes sense. But the
- 26:42Speaker 3: point is that if we're talking about recency my entire lifetime,
- 26:46Speaker 3: they've been relevant. They have they've gotten some of the
- 26:49Speaker 3: biggest recruits, they've had the most money, they've.
- 26:51Speaker 2: Had like a lot of success in football.
- 26:52Speaker 3: So like, if we're gonna put the bargain was like,
- 26:54Speaker 3: if we're gonna put schools like Texas in there, you
- 26:57Speaker 3: have to put to a schools like.
- 26:58Speaker 1: Orgoneh I agree. I think Incoming is Oregon. So but
- 27:04Speaker 1: anybody out west. I don't think of anybody out west,
- 27:07Speaker 1: not that I can think of.
- 27:08Speaker 4: No.
- 27:08Speaker 1: USC, you know, SE used to be really big in
- 27:11Speaker 1: the seventies and eighties, but they haven't been relevant in years. Ucla, No, Stanford, No,
- 27:20Speaker 1: But that's kind of hit A, Washington, marshan En state.
- 27:23Speaker 3: There's just I feel like the idea of being a
- 27:25Speaker 3: blue blood of football is subjective, Like it depends on
- 27:28Speaker 3: what's important to you as a fan.
- 27:30Speaker 2: Like I feel like there's just not.
- 27:31Speaker 1: I think it still goes back to the definition y'all
- 27:34Speaker 1: were using, bringing in the top talent and national titles.
- 27:39Speaker 3: I agree, Like now, yes, I agree but like in
- 27:42Speaker 3: the past, like that wasn't a thing.
- 27:44Speaker 2: Like I said, only.
- 27:45Speaker 3: Two teams could ever compete, So it was really hard
- 27:48Speaker 3: to decipher who you think because we can't have thirty
- 27:50Speaker 3: five blue blood teams. No, there's like four or five.
- 27:53Speaker 2: Who did I just name?
- 27:54Speaker 1: I said, I still said Texas, Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan.
- 28:00Speaker 1: I think those are your four top ones. I would
- 28:03Speaker 1: switch Texas with LSU.
- 28:04Speaker 2: You would LSU? Really yeah, I would switch text LS Okay.
- 28:09Speaker 2: Even if they've been.
- 28:10Speaker 3: Down a little bit, they still always come back. They
- 28:12Speaker 3: always get the best recruits in the country. They always
- 28:13Speaker 3: have the most money.
- 28:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:15Speaker 1: I think with Lane Kiffin there, they're gonna be a
- 28:18Speaker 1: completely different deal. I think that's gonna be the new Alabama.
- 28:21Speaker 1: That's that's how much confidence I have in Lane. You
- 28:23Speaker 1: can dislike Lane Kiff and all you want. He's gonna
- 28:28Speaker 1: be the next Nick Saban, is what I think. And
- 28:32Speaker 1: all the players are gonna want to go there and
- 28:33Speaker 1: play for him. Probably, But uh anyway, Ohio guy said
- 28:39Speaker 1: the stream is down, had to go to YouTube to listen.
- 28:42Speaker 1: Do you know if the stream is down? He said,
- 28:45Speaker 1: Now the stream is working. Do you have your footage
- 28:47Speaker 1: from ring camera on your laptop. I don't know what
- 28:53Speaker 1: he's talking about my ring camera, but anyway, Uh, nobody
- 28:58Speaker 1: sent me a joke that I can repeat. It's hilarious.
- 29:02Speaker 1: I wish I could sear it, but anyway, thank you
- 29:08Speaker 1: nobody that made me laugh. Let's see here. One person
- 29:12Speaker 1: said I'm missing a couple here. Duke loses big games
- 29:17Speaker 1: the most consistent see. I think that's fair.
- 29:23Speaker 2: They do.
- 29:24Speaker 1: But again, going back to y'all's definition, Matthew, they still
- 29:30Speaker 1: get the recruitment of top talent to commit to Duke.
- 29:35Speaker 1: Even though you're right, Texter, they lose. The only thing
- 29:39Speaker 1: they're consistent at is losing when they should be winning.
- 29:46Speaker 1: This year, they lost the game in the tournament they
- 29:49Speaker 1: should have never lost. Last year, they lost the game
- 29:52Speaker 1: they should have never lost. And I hate to tell you,
- 29:55Speaker 1: it's all consistent with one thing. And Johns, I just
- 30:02Speaker 1: I just don't think he can win those big games.
- 30:04Speaker 1: And that's gonna be his legacy right there until he
- 30:07Speaker 1: does it. So right now, John Shire's legacy is he
- 30:10Speaker 1: can't win ben games. Am I wrong about that?
- 30:13Speaker 2: No?
- 30:16Speaker 3: I mean he constantly seems to fumble the bag in
- 30:20Speaker 3: the highest press situation. I mean they almost lost to
- 30:22Speaker 3: a gosh what team? It wasn't High Point who they
- 30:26Speaker 3: almost lose to in their first game this year in
- 30:28Speaker 3: the tournament.
- 30:28Speaker 1: Oh, that's right, I forgot about that. I don't remember
- 30:31Speaker 1: who it was, but they did and should have lost.
- 30:33Speaker 3: Probably it was a team that didn't make any subs.
- 30:37Speaker 3: They played their starting five of.
- 30:38Speaker 2: The whole game.
- 30:39Speaker 3: I can't remember who it was. Who was they almost
- 30:42Speaker 3: lost that game?
- 30:43Speaker 2: I mean he.
- 30:45Speaker 3: Like I think he's a good enough coach to win
- 30:48Speaker 3: get win big games. I feel like he just relies
- 30:50Speaker 3: too much on the talent he has on his team,
- 30:52Speaker 3: and then when it comes down to, oh, this guy's
- 30:54Speaker 3: out coached me a little bit. He doesn't really know
- 30:56Speaker 3: how to like audible. He is not a change to them.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Yeah, Jamie said, this is officer Jamie. Okay, doormat. There's
- 31:07Speaker 1: no such thing as quotas if you go over eighty,
- 31:10Speaker 1: your fair game. I swear people that complain about Louisville
- 31:15Speaker 1: traffic have never driven through Orlando, Atlanta or Nashville. I
- 31:19Speaker 1: think there's people that stay in Atlanta circling and that
- 31:24Speaker 1: is true. I for is the worst and love and
- 31:28Speaker 1: love all the traffic being done on it. So there,
- 31:32Speaker 1: I'm like, listen, Jamie's right, I swear I feel the
- 31:37Speaker 1: same way. It feels like people just circle in Atlanta.
- 31:40Speaker 1: They don't ever have any place, so they just want
- 31:42Speaker 1: to create traffic in Atlanta. I that's to me. Let's
- 31:47Speaker 1: rank the worst traffic cities in this country. I would
- 31:52Speaker 1: have to say Atlanta is definitely number one.
- 31:56Speaker 2: Are we counting like when you say traffic, do we
- 31:59Speaker 2: just mean like bumper to bumper or like are we
- 32:02Speaker 2: talking like the way people drive in traffic?
- 32:04Speaker 1: I think a combination of both is fair because don't
- 32:09Speaker 1: they go sometimes don't they.
- 32:11Speaker 2: Go hand in hand? Yes? I think so? All right,
- 32:14Speaker 2: all right, what is your number one? I said Atlanta?
- 32:18Speaker 3: Atlanta's really really bad. I think I could agree with
- 32:21Speaker 3: you Atlanta for the one. Like for places that I've
- 32:23Speaker 3: driven through, I think Atlanta. I'd also put oh my gosh,
- 32:35Speaker 3: uh Panama cities on that list. Panama City, that place
- 32:40Speaker 3: is that's random, that place is terrible. See for small
- 32:43Speaker 3: town I don't know about Panama City. If you want
- 32:45Speaker 3: to put small towns in there, I'm putting Chattanooga, Tennessee. Okay,
- 32:49Speaker 3: it's by far one of the worst. When they have
- 32:53Speaker 3: I twenty four merging with IS seventy five. It's always
- 32:56Speaker 3: back there, and it seems.
- 32:57Speaker 1: Like there's been construction down in Chattanooga for the past
- 33:00Speaker 1: thirty five years and it never finishes. I'm putting Orlando
- 33:05Speaker 1: definitely in there. I'm putting Austin, Texas in there.
- 33:09Speaker 3: I forgot what highway or what free what interstate it is,
- 33:12Speaker 3: but it's a I went to Virginia Tech this last year.
- 33:15Speaker 2: Yes, go watch a U of L game I sixty four,
- 33:18Speaker 2: is it honesty C four? All the I sixty four
- 33:20Speaker 2: takes you close to Blacksburg.
- 33:24Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like, okay, about two hours inside of Blacksburg.
- 33:27Speaker 3: Whatever that interstate is, there are about like six toll
- 33:33Speaker 3: boots all within like twenty minutes of each.
- 33:37Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 33:37Speaker 3: So it's just constant stopping, over and over and over again.
- 33:42Speaker 2: That was horrible.
- 33:43Speaker 1: Yeah, I get it. Trying to think what is some
- 33:47Speaker 1: other plays? Well, you know, LA is definitely one of
- 33:49Speaker 1: the worst, without a.
- 33:50Speaker 3: Doubt, in New York's like this extra says, New York
- 33:53Speaker 3: City in LA are top traffic downs.
- 33:54Speaker 2: DC's bad too. DC is really bad.
- 33:56Speaker 3: New York City doesn't even count to me, Like that
- 33:59Speaker 3: is he doesn't know, because one, I'm gonna be honest
- 34:02Speaker 3: with you. If you live in downtown New York City,
- 34:04Speaker 3: if you live in Manhattan, if you live in the Bronx, whatever,
- 34:07Speaker 3: and you're driving your own car, that's your fault. You
- 34:10Speaker 3: put yourself in that situation. And I've done that before.
- 34:13Speaker 1: I swore up and down there was one city I've
- 34:16Speaker 1: never wanted to drive in, and it was New York City.
- 34:19Speaker 1: And guess what I think it was three years ago,
- 34:22Speaker 1: as picking up some stuff from my son, I bought
- 34:25Speaker 1: my wife a car up in Rhode Island, Providence, Rhode Island.
- 34:29Speaker 1: I don't know why it couldn't find anywhere else, So
- 34:31Speaker 1: I said, Patricia, I'm going up there and I'll drive
- 34:34Speaker 1: it down. So I picked it up, and I drove
- 34:38Speaker 1: to New York City to Soho, which is right. It's
- 34:44Speaker 1: just in the financial district right down there, around down
- 34:49Speaker 1: what they call downtown New York City. And I mean,
- 34:52Speaker 1: I'm driving through Midtown all the way to downtown, some
- 34:56Speaker 1: of the biggest traffic. It's like you talk about white knuckle.
- 35:00Speaker 1: I was white knuckled the entire time. I think the
- 35:02Speaker 1: funny part is when my oldest son went to school
- 35:07Speaker 1: out in LA. Ways would have you getting on and
- 35:11Speaker 1: off the expressway, So all of a sudden, you be
- 35:15Speaker 1: getting off and you're like, oh, we must be here,
- 35:17Speaker 1: and then like two blocks later you'd be getting on
- 35:20Speaker 1: the expressway. Then you'd be getting off of it again
- 35:23Speaker 1: and then back on. It was the craziest thing. Ways
- 35:26Speaker 1: had you going, but you kept moving. Yeah, it was awesome.
- 35:30Speaker 1: But yeah, by the way, you know that all that
- 35:32Speaker 1: construction on I seventy one going in from downtown Louisville. Yeah,
- 35:39Speaker 1: there are people that get off at Zorn Avenue and then
- 35:41Speaker 1: get back on it. He's like, come on, man, I'm
- 35:44Speaker 1: trying to get home. I'm trying to get over the
- 35:46Speaker 1: river road and drive home. But anyway, yeah, I think
- 35:51Speaker 1: Atlanta Nashville is definitely one of those because Nashville people
- 35:55Speaker 1: are Tennessee for that fact, they do not know how
- 35:58Speaker 1: to get out of the left lane the left lane
- 36:00Speaker 1: and just stick there.
- 36:02Speaker 2: Anyway. I still think Louisville is on this list.
- 36:05Speaker 1: Do you really Louisville is on the list of worst
- 36:08Speaker 1: traffic not in the country.
- 36:11Speaker 2: On the side of it depends on the people that
- 36:14Speaker 2: are driving. Wow. If it's oh wait, wait, wait, oh
- 36:16Speaker 2: what do you mean by that, now, Matt.
- 36:18Speaker 3: If it's raining outside, yes, this is the worst city
- 36:21Speaker 3: in the country to drive.
- 36:22Speaker 2: This is terrible.
- 36:23Speaker 3: Like rain, it could be a sprinkle outside and nobody
- 36:27Speaker 3: knows what they're doing anymore. Like everybody is back to
- 36:30Speaker 3: being fifteen years old practicing with their parents. Like I
- 36:34Speaker 3: literally can be driving and there could be a little
- 36:37Speaker 3: sprinkle of rain come down, and I will look ahead
- 36:40Speaker 3: of me and see five cars at their brakes.
- 36:42Speaker 2: Oh my god.
- 36:43Speaker 1: Immediately I think it's worse with snow. Forget about the rain.
- 36:47Speaker 2: I mean, snow is bad, but I'm talking like it's
- 36:49Speaker 2: simple as rain. Yeah, yeah, is like it. I do
- 36:52Speaker 2: not understand what it is.
- 36:54Speaker 3: I look as somebody who's driven here in this in
- 36:57Speaker 3: this city for eleven twelve years now, it's awful.
- 37:02Speaker 2: I hate it. Yeah.
- 37:03Speaker 1: Well, you know, it does get slippery out there when
- 37:06Speaker 1: it hasn't rained a little bit because that that old
- 37:08Speaker 1: residue has been sitting there for a while.
- 37:10Speaker 2: Oh man, that old.
- 37:12Speaker 1: What we're gonna do about the ole? Oh shut up,
- 37:14Speaker 1: that's enough out of you, all right, we gotta take
- 37:16Speaker 1: another break. Five O two four one four fourteen fifty.
- 37:18Speaker 1: If you want to text in on the whiskey thief
- 37:20Speaker 1: thief text line. I'll get to more of your text
- 37:23Speaker 1: as soon as we get back. Keep them coming, I'm
- 37:24Speaker 1: enjoying them.
- 38:12Speaker 2: Huh. He's completely bald headed. It's like, this is not right.
- 38:16Speaker 1: Just put a wig on, do something, go back to
- 38:19Speaker 1: the way you looked before. You can't have a crazy
- 38:22Speaker 1: hairdo when you were so popular back in the day,
- 38:26Speaker 1: and then just go all out.
- 38:28Speaker 2: Bald, can you?
- 38:29Speaker 3: I mean he's rehabilitated. He's rehabilitated. Okay, whatever you say.
- 38:36Speaker 3: But anyway, let me get to a couple of texts
- 38:40Speaker 3: before we have to take our break. Siena coach by
- 38:45Speaker 3: Jerry McNamara almost beat Duke.
- 38:47Speaker 2: It was Sienna. Yeah, okay, that's who it was. Thank
- 38:50Speaker 2: you tex Here. I appreciate that.
- 38:51Speaker 1: Ohio guy uh buzz said worst traffic cities in order, Atlanta,
- 38:57Speaker 1: San Francisco, New York, Chicago. I can't speak for San
- 39:03Speaker 1: Francisco because I've never driven there. I've driven in New York,
- 39:07Speaker 1: I've driven Chicago is pretty bad, though I have driven up.
- 39:11Speaker 2: Have you driven in Chicago traffic? I've never even been
- 39:13Speaker 2: in Chicago.
- 39:14Speaker 1: Are you serious? It's only like four hours away? And
- 39:18Speaker 1: you've never been to Chicago.
- 39:19Speaker 2: No, okay, never had the inkling to go?
- 39:22Speaker 1: Well you should have. I mean that's a fun place
- 39:24Speaker 1: to go. H one Texter said, New York City in
- 39:27Speaker 1: la are top traffics, and DC is bad too. You
- 39:30Speaker 1: read that one a little bit ago. Things do get
- 39:32Speaker 1: slippery when wet, thanks to bon Jovi, but that isn't
- 39:38Speaker 1: always about jeez, man, come on now, don't get me
- 39:42Speaker 1: in trouble. But that does make me laugh. Chicago number one.
- 39:48Speaker 1: Last time I got stuck and beat in a cup.
- 39:55Speaker 1: Have you ever gotten so bad in a car that
- 39:59Speaker 1: you could not wait to go to the bathroom that
- 40:02Speaker 1: you you used an empty cup to go to the bathroom?
- 40:05Speaker 2: No? I have not, really.
- 40:07Speaker 3: Yeah, I when I was in Tampa, I saw a
- 40:11Speaker 3: pretty elegant lady squat down over her seat and no
- 40:15Speaker 3: and go to the bathroom into a pineapple can and
- 40:18Speaker 3: then leave it on uside of the road.
- 40:20Speaker 2: Is this somebody you know? No, this was a random
- 40:23Speaker 2: person in Tampa. I I what do you mean? You
- 40:26Speaker 2: passed by in the car? You red light and they
- 40:30Speaker 2: were not away.
- 40:32Speaker 3: They literally got out of the car. No, they just
- 40:35Speaker 3: opened the door for a room. She was squatted, You've
- 40:38Speaker 3: got to like squatted reverse on her chair with a
- 40:42Speaker 3: pineapple cup on the on the car floor. Yeah, that's
- 40:45Speaker 3: whoever was driving allowed her to do this.
- 40:48Speaker 1: Oh my gosh. Okay, that's that's just bad. By the way,
- 40:51Speaker 1: one of my cousins, my my wife's cousin, is married
- 40:54Speaker 1: to a guy named Fabian. Okay, they started laughing at
- 40:59Speaker 1: me because I was calling him fob yoh, and it's
- 41:02Speaker 1: like you're saying the wrong name. And by the way,
- 41:04Speaker 1: he goes by Fob. So guess what I started doing
- 41:08Speaker 1: the entire weekend. I called him Bob. I just said,
- 41:11Speaker 1: you know, you're gonna make fun of me, I'm gonna
- 41:13Speaker 1: just forget it. I'm gonna call him Bot. And that's
- 41:15Speaker 1: the way I remembered him all week in long Bob.
- 41:20Speaker 2: Is that okay? Or is that kind of mean?
- 41:23Speaker 3: I mean, I would say it's mean, But he also
- 41:26Speaker 3: is the one who chose to go by the name Fob,
- 41:29Speaker 3: so that's on him.
- 41:30Speaker 2: Yeah, that's that's how I kind of feel.
- 41:32Speaker 1: So I do want to talk about this, I I
- 41:35Speaker 1: but the only problem is we've only got what five
- 41:37Speaker 1: minutes left? How much time do we have left in
- 41:40Speaker 1: this hour? About five minutes. Yeah, five minutes, all right,
- 41:43Speaker 1: four and a half, four and a half a right,
- 41:45Speaker 1: I guess we can take it on to the second hour.
- 41:47Speaker 1: But so, there was a UK fan that called into
- 41:52Speaker 1: a Tennessee radio show and acted like he was a
- 41:58Speaker 1: Tennessee fan. He said, he called in acting like a
- 42:05Speaker 1: fan of Tennessee and said, at this point, it feels
- 42:08Speaker 1: like we're charity cases to Kentucky. We're one or what
- 42:12Speaker 1: one in three against them. The host responded, yeah, but
- 42:16Speaker 1: you won the game that mattered. The caller responded, yeah,
- 42:20Speaker 1: that one that mattered. And how much did it matter
- 42:23Speaker 1: when you didn't even get to the final four for
- 42:25Speaker 1: the one hundred and seventeenth year in a row. And
- 42:29Speaker 1: then the caller started giggling and said, Cat's baby, you
- 42:32Speaker 1: all suck. Do you think that's funny or do you
- 42:38Speaker 1: think that's a bit of a jerk move.
- 42:41Speaker 3: I mean, I think it's funny, but it also gives
- 42:43Speaker 3: me the like people just have too much time on
- 42:45Speaker 3: their hands?
- 42:45Speaker 2: Is that what it is? Like? We gotta find some hobbies.
- 42:48Speaker 1: I think it's hilarious, But because I like that can
- 42:53Speaker 1: kind of banter, I don't know if I would have
- 42:55Speaker 1: added you all suck. I don't know, maybe maybe I
- 43:00Speaker 1: would have. I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often, I
- 43:04Speaker 1: really am. I mean I've had Yeah, I know, people
- 43:09Speaker 1: that are not UK fans listen to the show to
- 43:12Speaker 1: this day. I don't understand why, but I love I
- 43:16Speaker 1: love the fact that we attract fans of all schools
- 43:20Speaker 1: that listen to just the Cats. I don't think I've
- 43:25Speaker 1: listened to a U of L at Tennessee, uh or
- 43:29Speaker 1: or or any other show out there for that fact,
- 43:32Speaker 1: for more than maybe two minutes. But the fact that
- 43:37Speaker 1: these that that fans do this, listen to shows of
- 43:42Speaker 1: other schools, mainly rival schools, and then call in to
- 43:49Speaker 1: really make.
- 43:51Speaker 2: Fun of him.
- 43:52Speaker 1: I just I think it's hilarious. I don't think it's
- 43:55Speaker 1: he has too much time on his hands. I think
- 43:57Speaker 1: it's pretty funny.
- 43:58Speaker 3: No, man, it's funny, but he can also have too
- 44:00Speaker 3: much time on his hands at the same time.
- 44:02Speaker 2: Really, okay, all right, bag, I'm with you.
- 44:04Speaker 3: Like I don't listen to anything like I don't listen
- 44:07Speaker 3: to Kentucky radio shows. Yeah, I don't listen like I
- 44:11Speaker 3: barely listen to the Lowell radio shows. I'll be honest,
- 44:13Speaker 3: do you really why there's just some hosts that I'm
- 44:18Speaker 3: not a really big fan of?
- 44:20Speaker 2: Oh? Really, okay, I can, I can. I'd like to
- 44:23Speaker 2: know who that is.
- 44:24Speaker 3: Just I mean, they're just like there's some Kentucky hosts
- 44:26Speaker 3: that you're just not a big fan of.
- 44:27Speaker 1: You know, Oh really there's a Kentucky host I'm not
- 44:30Speaker 1: a fan of.
- 44:30Speaker 2: You got to be kidding me. I think I like
- 44:33Speaker 2: them all? Ye I bet?
- 44:35Speaker 1: Yeah, I'd like to know which one you're referring to.
- 44:38Speaker 1: Do you do you mind sharing it with us?
- 44:40Speaker 2: Oh? You do? Really? Okay? All right, then we'll keep
- 44:44Speaker 2: it at that. Uh.
- 44:45Speaker 1: I just I wish it happened more because to me,
- 44:49Speaker 1: knowing that this fan did this, I'd love to have
- 44:52Speaker 1: him on the show and talk to him and like
- 44:54Speaker 1: what were you thinking? Why did you do this? And
- 44:56Speaker 1: would you do it again? I would do it on
- 44:58Speaker 1: a regular basis. I would call in to a different
- 45:02Speaker 1: show if I had time. I just don't exactly, you
- 45:06Speaker 1: don't have time?
- 45:07Speaker 2: No, I don't.
- 45:07Speaker 1: People have too much time on their hands? Okay, well
- 45:10Speaker 1: what is that? Isn't that a song by Sticks? Too
- 45:13Speaker 1: much time on my hands?
- 45:14Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 45:14Speaker 1: I think it is Sticks? Yeah, it is it is.
- 45:17Speaker 1: You can look that up, but don't please don't play
- 45:20Speaker 1: because I'm not a Sticks fan.
- 45:21Speaker 2: Okay, wouldn't you be able to find it fast enough anyway? Yeah?
- 45:24Speaker 1: You would s t y X and there are too
- 45:26Speaker 1: much time on my hands playing the music right now? Okay, good,
- 45:29Speaker 1: all right, Well we gotta take a break, so there
- 45:30Speaker 1: you go. I'd like to know from you do you
- 45:32Speaker 1: think that was funny or do you think it was
- 45:33Speaker 1: a little over the top. But anyway, when we come back,
- 45:36Speaker 1: I want to talk about you UK. Is the SEC
- 45:40Speaker 1: forcing other rivalries? I don't know it sure seems like it.
- 45:44Speaker 1: Stay right there, one more hour, Just the Cats coming
- 45:47Speaker 1: right out.
- 45:48Speaker 2: You got.
- 45:59Speaker 3: Welcome to Just the Cats with Michael Bennett.
- 46:05Speaker 1: All right now number two on this Monday. I hope
- 46:07Speaker 1: everybody's doing well. If I'll tell you what, it's gonna
- 46:09Speaker 1: be hot for a while, and uh, you know it's
- 46:11Speaker 1: gonna be hot when the weather or I should say,
- 46:15Speaker 1: the newscasts are concentrating on telling people to hydrate. Do
- 46:19Speaker 1: you hydrate very much?
- 46:20Speaker 2: Matthew? Try to do you? Now? What do you hydrate with?
- 46:24Speaker 1: Because I can tell you my youngest son would say,
- 46:26Speaker 1: I hydrate with beer, But would do you hydrate with water?
- 46:29Speaker 2: Mostly?
- 46:29Speaker 3: Yeah, I use like electrolytes, supple bits and stuff like that.
- 46:32Speaker 3: Oh you, oh your fancy like I usually take like
- 46:37Speaker 3: I don't get the like name brand, Like what are they?
- 46:40Speaker 2: I don't know. I have no idea about electrolytes. Gosh,
- 46:44Speaker 2: what's the name brand? People? Oh? Liquid IV?
- 46:47Speaker 3: Like I don't drink like, I drink basically the same thing.
- 46:49Speaker 3: I just get those because it was too expensive. Okay,
- 46:52Speaker 3: so there's an off and all the brand. I like that,
- 46:55Speaker 3: you get the off brand. Yeah, those those liquid IV's
- 46:58Speaker 3: costs like eight dollars a box and there's six packs.
- 47:02Speaker 3: All the ones cost like two dollars. Why did they
- 47:05Speaker 3: cost so much more? I don't ask me.
- 47:07Speaker 2: Okay, all right.
- 47:08Speaker 3: They're good, but I don't but I keep water bottle
- 47:11Speaker 3: on me almost all the time, and really it's like
- 47:13Speaker 3: it's like a thirty two ounce water bottle.
- 47:14Speaker 2: Usually carry that around. Yeah, and I'll drink those twout
- 47:17Speaker 2: the day.
- 47:17Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, good, Yeah, that's one of the things you
- 47:20Speaker 1: need to do. Man, it was cold where I came from,
- 47:23Speaker 1: and here it's like it's just unbelievably odd. So anyway,
- 47:27Speaker 1: it's Monday. Uh, we get are we getting our latest
- 47:32Speaker 1: on FIFA or FEIFA whatever it's called FIFA. Yeah, okay,
- 47:37Speaker 1: FIFA update from Matthew Childress. Yeah, okay, good, I'm ready.
- 47:41Speaker 1: So they played Who's Day? Well, come on now, I
- 47:45Speaker 1: mean I've talked about that. You were talking about it
- 47:47Speaker 1: on the radio. It's been a few days since we
- 47:49Speaker 1: talked about it. Yes, it's been since Wednesday. Be specific,
- 47:52Speaker 1: we're on the radio.
- 47:53Speaker 3: Look, the United States played Turkey. Not Turkey. They've played
- 47:56Speaker 3: Turkey a Turkey.
- 47:59Speaker 2: Was it last Friday?
- 48:01Speaker 3: Was it Thursday? It was Thursday? You're right, yes, Thursday,
- 48:03Speaker 3: because you were gone, Yes on Wednesday. We did a Wednesday. Yeah, yeah,
- 48:05Speaker 3: it was on Thursday. It was kind of exactly what
- 48:09Speaker 3: I expected. I kind of figured they would draw. Unfortunately
- 48:12Speaker 3: they lost lily at the death at the buzzer. But
- 48:15Speaker 3: I mean, there really wasn't much to break down from
- 48:18Speaker 3: this game because it was a lot of a lot
- 48:21Speaker 3: of players that you're probably not going to see again
- 48:23Speaker 3: in this tournament playing the United States playing more or less,
- 48:25Speaker 3: they're like C or B team, just giving guys rest.
- 48:30Speaker 3: They already topped their group, they already won the group,
- 48:31Speaker 3: so they had nothing to win or lose in this game.
- 48:33Speaker 3: Turkey was already eliminated, so they had nothing to win
- 48:36Speaker 3: or lose in this game.
- 48:37Speaker 2: As much as they were celebrating, oh they had to
- 48:39Speaker 2: win Pride, come on.
- 48:41Speaker 3: They were celebrating, like I'll tell you that, there was
- 48:43Speaker 3: a lot of people on Twitter that were making fun
- 48:45Speaker 3: of them, like this guy. These people are literally up
- 48:48Speaker 3: jumping up and down, crying in the arms of their
- 48:49Speaker 3: family members because they get to go home tomorrow.
- 48:52Speaker 1: Seriously, yes, they were excited to go home instead of
- 48:55Speaker 1: playing on.
- 48:56Speaker 3: Well, they were excited because they beat the United States,
- 48:57Speaker 3: and people were joking like you guys, remember you're going
- 49:00Speaker 3: home right now, Like, yeah, the tournament's over. So, I mean,
- 49:05Speaker 3: there were some good performances. Austin Trusty had a good
- 49:07Speaker 3: you know, scored his first ever goal for the United States,
- 49:09Speaker 3: which was really cool for him. He's really young, really
- 49:12Speaker 3: young talent. He's played pretty well in that game. The
- 49:15Speaker 3: one thing that made you worried about this is that
- 49:18Speaker 3: there's just zero depth on our back line for our
- 49:21Speaker 3: defense at all. Like you saw Miles Robinson and Aliston
- 49:25Speaker 3: Trusty back there.
- 49:26Speaker 2: You saw.
- 49:29Speaker 3: Mark McKenzie was back there, and they just they just
- 49:31Speaker 3: didn't play well. They looked just discombobulated. You could tell
- 49:34Speaker 3: the talent drop off from our starting from our starting
- 49:37Speaker 3: eleven to our backup. So it's gonna be really heavily
- 49:40Speaker 3: invested in, heavily worrisome on keeping guys healthy, making sure
- 49:45Speaker 3: we don't get any suspensions, making sure we play. We
- 49:47Speaker 3: played cautiously but aggressive at the same time, because during
- 49:52Speaker 3: like the eightieth minute, was when they started to bring
- 49:54Speaker 3: in some starters when the game was tied at that point, it.
- 49:57Speaker 2: Was why bring him in at that point?
- 49:59Speaker 3: Come on, they were just bringing them in to get
- 50:01Speaker 3: you know, because you only play one game a week, Okay,
- 50:04Speaker 3: it's not like it's not like the NCAA tournament you're
- 50:07Speaker 3: playing every two days. That yeah, they wanted to get
- 50:09Speaker 3: guys out there so you know, they could stretch their legs,
- 50:12Speaker 3: get in game time. So like it was in garbage time,
- 50:15Speaker 3: it didn't matter. But Christian Ballistic came out there and
- 50:18Speaker 3: looked like an absolute demon. I mean, this dude is ridiculous,
- 50:21Speaker 3: Like he immediately took over the game. Can changed the
- 50:24Speaker 3: entire focal point of the game. United State, it's been
- 50:26Speaker 3: on defense for about seventy percent of it. As soon
- 50:28Speaker 3: as he steps on there, they're pushing these guys back
- 50:31Speaker 3: in their own box immediately. They're terrified. They're double team
- 50:33Speaker 3: in him. The dude is crazy, The dude's good. It
- 50:36Speaker 3: made me feel a lot more comfortable. I would be
- 50:40Speaker 3: a lot more upset about this loss if we hadn't
- 50:43Speaker 3: seen the difference between when he get when he comes on,
- 50:45Speaker 3: the starters come on then without them. It gave me
- 50:49Speaker 3: a little a couple of questions With some guys that
- 50:51Speaker 3: got left off this roster, they definitely could have played,
- 50:53Speaker 3: like Diego Luna. He's a guy who played on this
- 50:56Speaker 3: campaign for the entirety that woke up qualifying era and
- 50:59Speaker 3: was just lighting it up, and he's playing really well.
- 51:02Speaker 3: People thought he was gonna be in the on the team.
- 51:03Speaker 3: He was in all of the promos for the World
- 51:05Speaker 3: Cup and then got cut. He didn't make Got he
- 51:08Speaker 3: make the find.
- 51:09Speaker 1: Why would they put him in the promos if there's
- 51:11Speaker 1: a chance he's gonna get cut.
- 51:13Speaker 3: That's that's a question. A lot of people have been
- 51:14Speaker 3: asking he got cut, he didn't make it.
- 51:16Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 51:17Speaker 3: He's not upset about it, like he's been interviewed about it.
- 51:19Speaker 3: He's like, that's just how life goes like for him.
- 51:22Speaker 3: But he's he's a fan favorite. I wanted to see
- 51:24Speaker 3: him on this team, especially when we got guys like
- 51:27Speaker 3: Max Barston out there. Diego Luna definitely could have been
- 51:30Speaker 3: replaced over him. His name is Max Barfton, No, his
- 51:33Speaker 3: name is Arsten. He just sucks. Okay, good. I kind
- 51:37Speaker 3: of like that nickname. By the way, Smash and Burholter
- 51:41Speaker 3: had a great game. This is the guy who's gotten
- 51:42Speaker 3: a lot of hate. He's just he's kind of been
- 51:45Speaker 3: under underwhelming and he's he's always been on the team
- 51:47Speaker 3: for the past couple of years, but he's always been underwhelming.
- 51:49Speaker 3: He's never really bad, like a big main starting role.
- 51:52Speaker 3: Played well in this game, so I was happy for him.
- 51:54Speaker 3: He kind of solidified himself as our set piece specialist. Uh,
- 51:58Speaker 3: the dude is you know he looked good that I
- 52:01Speaker 3: feel like I'm rambling with They're They're just it's a
- 52:04Speaker 3: game between two teams that have nothing to win or lose,
- 52:06Speaker 3: you know what I mean. So there's just there's just
- 52:07Speaker 3: not I can't do that. There's not much a breakdown.
- 52:10Speaker 3: The only thing I can say is if you were
- 52:12Speaker 3: if you're somebody who's been following it and you saw
- 52:15Speaker 3: that game and thought, this is the worst way to
- 52:17Speaker 3: end the group.
- 52:18Speaker 2: We're gonna lose to the worst team in the group
- 52:19Speaker 2: right now. Blah blah, all this stuff.
- 52:21Speaker 3: Turkey was a team that was looked as a dark
- 52:24Speaker 3: horse team in Europe to possibly win this tournament for
- 52:26Speaker 3: a long time. That a lot of their talent is
- 52:29Speaker 3: super young, so they're gonna be really good in the
- 52:31Speaker 3: next World Cup. People thought they'd be good right now,
- 52:33Speaker 3: but they might need a little bit of experience.
- 52:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 52:36Speaker 3: This was also, like I said, a team that is
- 52:39Speaker 3: the twenty second best country in the world in soccer.
- 52:41Speaker 3: We're the seventeenth, so comparative to us, they put out
- 52:46Speaker 3: all of their starters. We put out our B or
- 52:48Speaker 3: C team and took the guys to the death. You know,
- 52:51Speaker 3: like it's it didn't look great. It looks sloppy a
- 52:55Speaker 3: lot of time. You know, these are guys who hadn't
- 52:56Speaker 3: got to play together a lot. But like I said,
- 52:58Speaker 3: at the end of the game, you brought on some
- 53:00Speaker 3: warrior starters, some more guys you know, getting there, getting
- 53:03Speaker 3: getting some fresh legs in there. And it flipped on
- 53:05Speaker 3: a coin like, they looked extremely confident, they knew what
- 53:08Speaker 3: their goal was. And you know, things happen. You slip
- 53:10Speaker 3: up in the last minute. Things happened, dude's missing an assignment.
- 53:13Speaker 3: Stuff happens sometimes. But at the end of the day,
- 53:16Speaker 3: we play Bosney on Wednesday at six pm. Our road
- 53:21Speaker 3: to the finals looks a lot harder. Oh it does
- 53:24Speaker 3: then it did a week ago, just because like stuff
- 53:27Speaker 3: fell out of place. So we played Bosney on Wednesday.
- 53:30Speaker 3: That's a good team. We can't over overlook that team.
- 53:33Speaker 3: You should win.
- 53:35Speaker 2: The United States is better.
- 53:36Speaker 3: But they are really heavily, like offensively based they play.
- 53:40Speaker 3: They're really great defensively as well. They're a sound team.
- 53:43Speaker 3: They play together. It's a lot of veteran leadership. It's
- 53:46Speaker 3: basically like the eleven c in the NCAA tournament that
- 53:51Speaker 3: like all it's from mid major college where everybody's been there,
- 53:53Speaker 3: played for together for four years. They're like there. Their
- 53:55Speaker 3: team chemistry is like elite. Okay, you know what I mean.
- 53:58Speaker 3: So you can't sleep on them, but if you do
- 54:00Speaker 3: your job, you should win, right, Yeah, so you win
- 54:03Speaker 3: that game. You probably played Belgium. That's a really good team.
- 54:07Speaker 3: They've knocked us out before. If you win that game,
- 54:11Speaker 3: you probably play like you probably pay Spain, who's been
- 54:14Speaker 3: a favorite, is the favorite for this tournament. If you
- 54:17Speaker 3: win that game, you probably play Argentina, who's another thing.
- 54:20Speaker 3: So you got to go through two favorites and a
- 54:22Speaker 3: team that's more of a dark horse again, yeah, which
- 54:25Speaker 3: a lot of people are kind of rallying behind. It
- 54:28Speaker 3: looks like it's gonna be a lot of fun. If
- 54:29Speaker 3: you can just get past Bosnie, if you can handle
- 54:31Speaker 3: your business, you're gonna be able to shock a lot
- 54:33Speaker 3: of people.
- 54:33Speaker 2: It's gonna be a really fun turn. Is it single
- 54:35Speaker 2: game elimination at this point?
- 54:37Speaker 3: Yes, now it's elimination, okay, because it'll this this whole
- 54:42Speaker 3: thing ends win not this next weekend, but the following.
- 54:46Speaker 2: I believe so, yes, yeah, if they are like mid July.
- 54:48Speaker 1: And where is the where is the final game going
- 54:51Speaker 1: to be played? MetLife in New York?
- 54:54Speaker 2: Okay?
- 54:54Speaker 1: Well yeah, New Jersey basically. Okay, good so, and then
- 54:57Speaker 1: Wednesday we'll get our update as far as the pre game, yes, okay,
- 55:01Speaker 1: good so? How far do you expect this team to go?
- 55:07Speaker 3: That's tough, really, I have been underwhelmed with how Belgium
- 55:11Speaker 3: have looked, so I think that we can beat that team.
- 55:14Speaker 3: I would say if you get Belgium would be like
- 55:21Speaker 3: the bare minimum, like losing to them in the quarterfinals.
- 55:24Speaker 3: That's kind of what the United States has done for
- 55:26Speaker 3: a long time, Like they usually get the quarterfinals and lose,
- 55:28Speaker 3: so that'd be one like okay, makes sense. You know,
- 55:31Speaker 3: I'm not happy with it, but like it's just it's
- 55:33Speaker 3: what's happened in our history. If you beat Belgium that
- 55:36Speaker 3: now we might not even play Belgium. They might lose,
- 55:38Speaker 3: so they're underseated. You know, things can happen whatever. But
- 55:40Speaker 3: if you beat Belgium in that quarterfinal or in that
- 55:44Speaker 3: round of sixteen, you're playing with house money after.
- 55:47Speaker 2: That, Are you really okay? All right? So we'll playing
- 55:49Speaker 2: with house money.
- 55:50Speaker 1: We'll see how it goes in Have you seen some
- 55:52Speaker 1: of the featured pricing on concession and some of the
- 55:57Speaker 1: featured food. By the way, I'm not they're seeing beers
- 56:02Speaker 1: going for over twenty dollars. One place is selling lobster
- 56:06Speaker 1: rolls for thirty four dollars. And then they have this
- 56:09Speaker 1: thing called down in Miami. It's fancy a f tots.
- 56:16Speaker 1: Have you heard about this. This is at the World
- 56:19Speaker 1: Cup here and in Miami, so you know, we all
- 56:24Speaker 1: know it. It's it doesn't stand for air force. By
- 56:26Speaker 1: the way, fancy af tots are a hash brown covered
- 56:33Speaker 1: in caviar. Are you ready for how much it is?
- 56:37Speaker 1: First of all, it sounds disgusting. I like cash Browns.
- 56:42Speaker 1: Don't make fun of me. I do like caviar, but
- 56:44Speaker 1: I liked, oh you do, okay, good, seventy five dollars.
- 56:51Speaker 1: If you just want the caviar, you can buy that
- 56:54Speaker 1: seventy bucks. So they're only giving the hash I would
- 56:57Speaker 1: probably go up to them and says, no, I don't
- 56:59Speaker 1: want the caviar. I want the hash Browns five bucks.
- 57:02Speaker 1: That's what I would say. If they're selling the caviar
- 57:05Speaker 1: for seventy but if you get the tater tats, the
- 57:10Speaker 1: hash Browns and the that kind of into it for
- 57:13Speaker 1: seventy five, well that makes the hash Browns five bucks,
- 57:16Speaker 1: doesn't it. I thought that was ridiculous possible. Yeah, Atlanta,
- 57:22Speaker 1: their concessions exactly what you expect. Slice the pizza five
- 57:28Speaker 1: bucks are three dollars, thirty two ounce of coke four bucks,
- 57:34Speaker 1: cheeseburger five bucks.
- 57:36Speaker 2: I love Atlanta going down.
- 57:37Speaker 1: I hate their traffic, but going to their stadium, I
- 57:42Speaker 1: love what they charge.
- 57:45Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean Atlanta has been like at the forefront
- 57:48Speaker 3: of cheap concessions. They do it every football season. That's
- 57:50Speaker 3: like their biggest thing. And now it's mostly because they
- 57:52Speaker 3: can't get people to cover with their games.
- 57:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 57:55Speaker 1: Well, I just I wish everybody would follow suit. I mean,
- 57:58Speaker 1: the tickets are expensive enough. Don't drown me in debt
- 58:01Speaker 1: because I gotta pay your concession prices. But anyway, by
- 58:06Speaker 1: the way, a new NBA twenty twenty seven mock draft
- 58:10Speaker 1: came out has Malachai Moreno as a lottery pick. Is
- 58:16Speaker 1: that the death of him having a good season? Because
- 58:19Speaker 1: you know, if you remember, oh takea Oway was picked
- 58:25Speaker 1: to be the best player in the SEC, going to be,
- 58:29Speaker 1: you know, a big time draft pick in the NBA.
- 58:33Speaker 1: None of that happened. Of course, he went the second
- 58:35Speaker 1: round to Oklahoma City. I was kind of surprised Oklahoma
- 58:37Speaker 1: City picked him, Were you.
- 58:39Speaker 2: No, why they've got like ten of him Oklahoma and
- 58:42Speaker 2: why did they need another one?
- 58:44Speaker 3: Oklahoma City loves that type of player, So I mean
- 58:46Speaker 3: they grab dudes like that for draft stock because that
- 58:49Speaker 3: whole like combo guard, like half shooting guard, half forward
- 58:53Speaker 3: thing is really popular in the NBA. They're grabbing him
- 58:55Speaker 3: for draft stock. They're going to grab him for trade value.
- 58:58Speaker 3: He might see some minutes. Maybe it's given me like
- 59:03Speaker 3: he's gonna find it. They're gonna find a team that
- 59:05Speaker 3: needs like a six to six kind of forward kind
- 59:07Speaker 3: of player.
- 59:08Speaker 2: Yeah, and they're gonna trade him away for draft capital.
- 59:10Speaker 1: Well, when I saw the the mock draft and they
- 59:13Speaker 1: had Malachi Moreno, the first thing in my head is
- 59:16Speaker 1: I went negative. Is because he can be a lottery pick.
- 59:21Speaker 1: He he can't get to the point where he is
- 59:23Speaker 1: a lot Would you agree with me on that? Yeah,
- 59:25Speaker 1: he has that ability exactly. But when I see something
- 59:30Speaker 1: like that, it's like, oh, please don't make that a
- 59:32Speaker 1: bad season for him.
- 59:33Speaker 2: Now.
- 59:34Speaker 3: I just think that he has a lot that he
- 59:36Speaker 3: needs to work on before he gets there. I agree,
- 59:39Speaker 3: like he I almost like this is looking outside in Okay,
- 59:44Speaker 3: this is my unbiased opinion. I think he should have
- 59:48Speaker 3: went to the draft this season. I think he should have.
- 59:51Speaker 2: I disagree.
- 59:51Speaker 3: It sounded like he was getting some promises that he
- 59:53Speaker 3: was gonna get caught in the first round, not lottery obviously,
- 59:57Speaker 3: but it seemed like there was a couple of teams
- 59:58Speaker 3: looking out for him.
- 59:59Speaker 2: That one the really badly. I think he should have gone.
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: Why Because the NBA does this thing where when you're
- 1:00:08Speaker 3: super young, when you're about eighteen years old and you're
- 1:00:10Speaker 3: a freshman in college, they draft you on potential, they
- 1:00:14Speaker 3: and they want you younger so that they can grow
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: you in their system. They don't want they don't want
- 1:00:19Speaker 3: to finished product.
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: So in other words, you think it's some more of
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: a risk for the player than it is for the
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: actual player.
- 1:00:26Speaker 2: Yes, I think for the team.
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: I think it's more of a risk with a player
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: to stay in college, yeah, than it is to the team,
- 1:00:31Speaker 3: because if.
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: They go, it's more of a risk for the team
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: than it is the player.
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: Yes, Malachi Marino, that's that's the negative side. Malachi Marino
- 1:00:38Speaker 3: could come to college basketball, develop incredibly and then you
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: know his draft stock goes up.
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: That's what the expectation is, right, he's gonna get back.
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: Yeah, But there is also it's the same thing with
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: it's the risk of Okay, well, if you had these
- 1:00:53Speaker 3: guarantees last season, what if you take a step back?
- 1:00:57Speaker 3: You know, what if you know, maybe not, maybe not
- 1:01:00Speaker 3: step back. What if you don't improve, what if you're
- 1:01:02Speaker 3: kind of just the same. Then these other NBA teams
- 1:01:05Speaker 3: are saying, well, we kind of seeing the ceilings a
- 1:01:07Speaker 3: little bit lower than we think, and this and blah
- 1:01:09Speaker 3: blah blah.
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: So it's it's you.
- 1:01:13Speaker 3: You get drafted based on your potential when you're that young,
- 1:01:16Speaker 3: then you have to develop. So I'm just saying that
- 1:01:20Speaker 3: from a financial and a career standpoint, I think you
- 1:01:22Speaker 3: should have went to the draft.
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: I think you're just seeing that because you're a U
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: of L fan. That's that's what I think. I don't
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: think you want to see Malachai Moreno beat your team
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: come this December. That's that's exactly what I think. By
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: you say I haven't seen it yet, Yeah, well you will.
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: Uh but I did enjoy reading about Zoom Diallo, who
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: did his first media conference this past weekend. Uh zoom
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: Diallo revealed his real name, first name. Did you see
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: this no Va ZOOMMANA.
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: I'm sure I'm butchering it, by the way, which I'm
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: capable of every single time, in which he proclaimed that
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: he took the nickname in elementary school. Zoom and it
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: just stuck is It's kind of nice. He did talk
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: about his given name is after his maternal grandfather, he revealed, uh,
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: and I thought that was kind of nice. He wanted
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: to honor his grandfather by saying, you know, it's really
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: this is my real name, and it's after my grandfather.
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: So uh.
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: He did say though he deserves a name, wants to
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: not deserves, but wants to uh convince Zoom the company
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: that he should get a an IL deal with him.
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: It kind soon as I heard Zoom, That's was the
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: first thing I thought of, was the company Zoom. You
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: know what that is, don't you? I mean, like the
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: video thing, just like with Google Meet or what are
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: some of the other ones. There's Google Meet, Zoom original, Guype.
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: That's right, Skype was the original. I found it like
- 1:03:04Speaker 1: the hardest to use. I used to use Zoom on
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: a pretty regular basis. I don't they're all kind of
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: the same now, aren't They're different?
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: But I think Zoom should reach out to him and
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: give him an IL deal.
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: Wouldn't that be a good deal for him? I mean
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: for him? Yeah? Well would it be for the company too?
- 1:03:24Speaker 3: I mean, I guess come on, does Zoom really need
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: to sponsor players like? I feel like they have enough
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: marketing already.
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: I don't even know where Zoom is based. For some reason,
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: I want to say it's a European company.
- 1:03:37Speaker 2: I don't know who owns that. I have no idea
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: who owns Google? Meet Google? We know that.
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: I'm just kidding, I know, I know. Uh, we gotta
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: take another break when we come back. We got a
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: little football news because as I was gone, man will
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: Stein has it going on. Plus, we'll get back to
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: your text messages. Keep sending them in five two four one,
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: Thanks a lot.
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: You just muted me. What are you doing?
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: Yeah, you're at You've already checked out, haven't you. You're
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: already in Florida? Five four fourteen fifty? No, you don't.
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: You must spend a couple more days with me. Don't
- 1:04:14Speaker 2: say that. That hurts my feeling anyway. They're right there.
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: Fine. Let you you know what movie this was from?
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: Don't you Chicken? Little Chicken? Little? Yeah? I didn't know
- 1:04:55Speaker 2: that really, from Tick and Little Okay.
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: Now I was thinking, Tommy boy, Oh, when they're in
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: the convertible driving down the road making their next sale
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: and this song comes up and they start singing it,
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: and then you know, when Michael Stipe starts doing the
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: whole rap, they stop singing because they don't know the
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: little rap in the song.
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: That's a good song, right there. I like that one.
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: Let's look at this buzz text it in. I like
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: the different perspectives from each team's fan base on the radio.
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: When I listen to UK show, I want to hear
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: the blue information. If it's a U of L show,
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: give me cards info. I don't like it when either
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: side spends more time talking about the other side.
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: Do I do that? I don't think I do that?
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: Do I not? Lets you make a fun of me?
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: No, that'd be you know, And then he goes, I'm confused, Matt.
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: You said you were encouraged when the starters came in late,
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: but the winning goal came late. Seems like a downdar
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: to me. Please correct me where I'm wrong I was.
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: I mean, that's a fair question right there. I didn't
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: think about that either. So the starters are the one
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: that let turn key.
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: I mean in the game.
- 1:06:02Speaker 3: By technicality, it came off of a it came off
- 1:06:06Speaker 3: of a play in the corner that was whipped into
- 1:06:08Speaker 3: the box and like a dude missed his assignment. Like
- 1:06:11Speaker 3: it's the same thing as like, okay, your best player
- 1:06:13Speaker 3: on your basketball team gave up a three pointer one time,
- 1:06:16Speaker 3: like okay, Like the point I was making was when
- 1:06:19Speaker 3: they came on, the entire momentum of the game change,
- 1:06:22Speaker 3: Like it became that the United States was the more
- 1:06:25Speaker 3: aggressive team and they were playing to win. They were
- 1:06:27Speaker 3: playing for this and that, whereas like the rest, when
- 1:06:29Speaker 3: the subs were in, when the backups were in, we
- 1:06:31Speaker 3: were on our back heel the whole time we were playing,
- 1:06:34Speaker 3: you know, having to play defense a lot, couldn't maintain
- 1:06:36Speaker 3: the ball. So yeah, it is a down or that
- 1:06:38Speaker 3: they give up a goal when they lost, But like
- 1:06:41Speaker 3: when they all came on, the momentum completely changed and
- 1:06:44Speaker 3: you started to feel a little more comfortable.
- 1:06:45Speaker 2: Unfortunately, yes they did.
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: They got a comfortable In other words, Okay, John here,
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: thanks Michael for the update on USA soccer. Well, thank Matthew,
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: not me and the World Cup. I have been keeping up, Michael.
- 1:06:56Speaker 1: The food and prices sound that rageus. Apparently on social
- 1:06:59Speaker 1: media platform they have been making videos saying individuals from
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: different countries are complaining about gaining weight from eating a
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: lot of American food.
- 1:07:09Speaker 2: I hadn't heard that. I hadn't surprise me it.
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: Well, when is the difference between food in America in
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: the United States and food over in Europe that makes
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: us gain weight and they don't gain weight?
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: Portion sizes? Oh, is that what it is? Yeah, we
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: like eat a lot larger portions.
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: Well they don't have to eat it at all, just
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: take it, eat a little bit and be done.
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: I mean that's the thing.
- 1:07:35Speaker 3: Why are they criticizing, God, we have larger portion sizes
- 1:07:38Speaker 3: getting better value.
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: Our portion sizes are larger. Yeah.
- 1:07:40Speaker 3: The food, I will say, like from what I've seen
- 1:07:43Speaker 3: on social media as well, going off of what John
- 1:07:45Speaker 3: was talking about, is that people are like they're just
- 1:07:47Speaker 3: like this is some of the best food I've ever had,
- 1:07:49Speaker 3: blah blah blah, Like this is the best this so
- 1:07:51Speaker 3: like the portion sizes are large, but it's so good
- 1:07:53Speaker 3: you want to eat all of it. And you know
- 1:07:56Speaker 3: they're used to eating smaller portions and stuff like that.
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: So you come over here and you're like, oh my gosh,
- 1:08:00Speaker 3: no wonder these people are getting weight.
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: One person said, you don't get paid on potential bad take, Matthew,
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: but you do get drafted. Yeah, you do.
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: I love how you come back so quickly on that.
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: Ohio guys said, uh, uh thor matt is wrong with
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: the new five for five rule. There weren't Uh, there
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: won't be as many players. There won't be as many
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: players in the draft next year. Moreno will be a
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: first rounder next season barring injury.
- 1:08:31Speaker 3: Okay, OHI god, but guess what he pulled out of
- 1:08:33Speaker 3: the draft before the five or five role wasn't active.
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: That was his decision. Yeah, it was you're here.
- 1:08:39Speaker 3: You are right that now is an is advantageous to him.
- 1:08:42Speaker 3: But he chose to do that before that stuff was
- 1:08:44Speaker 3: even in play.
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: Uh while I was gone. UK football gets yet again
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: two more four star comments.
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: Ah.
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: It's just amazing the transformation that will Stein has made
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: since coming here and it's just been months.
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: Uh.
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: They get Tyler Fryman, a wide receiver uh, and a
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: linebacker Sean Fox. Frieman is out of Fort Michigentucky and
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: Fox is out of in Annapolis. That's the other one
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: that was a bit of a surprise because a lot
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: of people thought, you know, probably I you or something
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: like that.
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: That's seven. That now makes Why are you smiling about that?
- 1:09:24Speaker 3: So now Will sins he's recruiting baseball players Indiana. I'm
- 1:09:34Speaker 3: just joking. Yeah, you should be joking, joking.
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: But but you know the the Friedman was going to
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: play baseball and football at u of L, not just baseball.
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: You keep saying baseball at u of L. But keep
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: in mind he was going to do football here. Yeah,
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: he was, he was. He was definitely going to be
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: playing football as well at u of L. I doubt
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: they would if that's sure, they would have let him
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: do all right, all right, whatever you say, Matthew, I mean,
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: you are all things U of L.
- 1:10:03Speaker 2: But I get it. It's okay.
- 1:10:05Speaker 3: I know I could be wrong. I never heard that,
- 1:10:08Speaker 3: but I could definitely. Right now, I'm pretty certain he
- 1:10:10Speaker 3: was gonna play football as well. But let's get back
- 1:10:13Speaker 3: to this as you fact check me like you always do,
- 1:10:16Speaker 3: which I love the fact that you do this. That
- 1:10:19Speaker 3: now makes seven four star players in the class at
- 1:10:21Speaker 3: twenty twenty seven. He's still a great football player, Friedman.
- 1:10:28Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, you're saying baseball, but he's still a
- 1:10:30Speaker 3: great football player. This is but but forget that point
- 1:10:34Speaker 3: right there, Matthew. This is an amazing transformation of what
- 1:10:38Speaker 3: will Stein has done in such a short What is
- 1:10:41Speaker 3: he saying to these players that's convincing them to come
- 1:10:43Speaker 3: to UK. I mean, the dude has been in the
- 1:10:47Speaker 3: college fall flayff before. They have immense money through JMI.
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: You think it's the money side.
- 1:10:52Speaker 3: I think the JMI benefits football ten times more than
- 1:10:55Speaker 3: benefits basketball.
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: I would think it's close. Say that again.
- 1:11:00Speaker 3: I think the JMI benefits football like a thousand times
- 1:11:03Speaker 3: more than I would agree with that I think. I
- 1:11:06Speaker 3: think I think football is where JMI will be successful.
- 1:11:09Speaker 2: Yeah and not, and it sucks.
- 1:11:11Speaker 3: I think it hinders basketball because there's too many brand
- 1:11:14Speaker 3: deals with players in basketball and this and that, whereas
- 1:11:17Speaker 3: like in football, it's straight up like this guy just
- 1:11:19Speaker 3: wants as much money and you don't have to deal
- 1:11:21Speaker 3: with guys having Nike deals and this, you know what
- 1:11:23Speaker 3: I mean, you don't have to deal with that stuffing football,
- 1:11:25Speaker 3: So that helps, right, But uh No, I mean, like
- 1:11:28Speaker 3: it's it's a mixture of the dude's been the college
- 1:11:30Speaker 3: twall player before, he's coached like Heisman candidates, like he's
- 1:11:34Speaker 3: won at the highest level. It is his first coaching job,
- 1:11:37Speaker 3: but at the same time you're also getting the new
- 1:11:39Speaker 3: coach bump, where like a dude is brand new at
- 1:11:41Speaker 3: a university, he's gonna bring in a lot of guys.
- 1:11:44Speaker 3: That's just like like, especially when a new coach comes
- 1:11:46Speaker 3: to a school in the SEC, people want to go
- 1:11:48Speaker 3: play for like, this guy's a head coach. Now I
- 1:11:50Speaker 3: want to go see it and we'll see what it is.
- 1:11:51Speaker 3: It's the you know that it's gonna be a lot.
- 1:11:54Speaker 3: He's gonna have that for the next couple of years.
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: Well, I know Minschi has been to uh well, I'm
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: trying to think it was Minchi or it might have
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: been nah Rot. That was at a manning quarterback camp
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: I was reading about and he just kept bragging about
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: how wins will Stein is going to be the man.
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: I mean, that's it's just fun. I mean, it's it's
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: put football at UK back to fun again because it
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: had kind of lost its focus. And to have you
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: see the success he's had in such a short time here,
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: and I know it's a long way to go. You're right,
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: because I can see it on your face. But let's
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: just see some games first, and it might be a
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: tough first season. But you know what, as long as
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: we see improvement game after game, I'm okay with that,
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: and then year after year, improvement every single time. Because
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: I year one is probably of the first three years
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: I would always say is the easiest because nobody has
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: any expectations for you. Nobody has any expectations for you
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: as a recruiter. And then the players are like, well,
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: this guy came from Oregon. Their office was really fun
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: to watch, fast paced, successful, Maybe I want.
- 1:13:11Speaker 2: To play with him.
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: Year two, it starts getting a little tougher. It's like, well,
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: but you didn't have that great of a season. The
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: season didn't turn out to be that great, or it
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: could be phenomenally successful.
- 1:13:21Speaker 2: I think you.
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: Year two is tough. I think the toughest year for
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: a new football coaches. Year three. Now you have two
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: years under your belt. It's either going really well or
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: it's going really bad. And if it's going really bad,
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: you can pretty much count on year three be in
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: your last.
- 1:13:43Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:13:43Speaker 3: I mean I think that will stin Like I know
- 1:13:46Speaker 3: that right now, he's the shiny new thing and it's
- 1:13:48Speaker 3: really fresh in everybody's minds and they're really everybody's really
- 1:13:51Speaker 3: excited to everybody's really excited to see how this works out.
- 1:13:54Speaker 3: But I mean, you make a point, the big good
- 1:13:56Speaker 3: point that oh my gosh, sorry that cat snug up
- 1:13:59Speaker 3: on me. He's under a lot more pressure than I
- 1:14:01Speaker 3: feel like we think he is.
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: The dude.
- 1:14:03Speaker 3: Like you said, you're bringing on all these guys early on.
- 1:14:06Speaker 3: The excitement is there, Yeah, people are. It's already getting
- 1:14:09Speaker 3: to the point where people are already building their excitement
- 1:14:11Speaker 3: for season one absolutely, which national media is as well.
- 1:14:15Speaker 3: That's fine, that's understandable. It's just the whole Like, if
- 1:14:19Speaker 3: it doesn't go exactly the way you're picturing it, you
- 1:14:21Speaker 3: can't be angry at will Stein like it's his first season.
- 1:14:24Speaker 2: You gotta give time to develop.
- 1:14:26Speaker 3: Then, like you said, like, yes, the second season, you
- 1:14:28Speaker 3: bring in all these really great recruits you're expecting. Okay,
- 1:14:31Speaker 3: not all these guys are gonna play the freshman season.
- 1:14:33Speaker 3: It's more of like building for the future. You're probably
- 1:14:35Speaker 3: still gonna be a heavily transfer portal team in season
- 1:14:38Speaker 3: two and twenty twenty seven because you need veteran leadership
- 1:14:41Speaker 3: in there. You can't just build a whole team based
- 1:14:43Speaker 3: of freshmen, especially in football.
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: Yeah, it doesn't work. That way.
- 1:14:46Speaker 3: Yeah, it comes to the point where like, okay, first season,
- 1:14:51Speaker 3: oh it was okay, wasn't where he wanted to be.
- 1:14:53Speaker 3: Second season, if it's the same, then it's like, okay,
- 1:14:58Speaker 3: you know you this whole class in. You got another
- 1:15:01Speaker 3: year to develop them this and that, and then the
- 1:15:03Speaker 3: third year, like you, I agree with you. The third
- 1:15:05Speaker 3: year is where you have to basically you gotta kick
- 1:15:08Speaker 3: into high gear. That's to be a complete flip. I'm
- 1:15:10Speaker 3: not saying you gotta win the SEC or nothing, right,
- 1:15:12Speaker 3: but Bowl game is not worth it. Like you got
- 1:15:15Speaker 3: to get higher than that. You got to compete in
- 1:15:16Speaker 3: the SEC. You got to start being some of these
- 1:15:18Speaker 3: better teams. You get two years of Okay, it's still early,
- 1:15:23Speaker 3: and that's hoping that you keep the players too, because
- 1:15:26Speaker 3: the way everybody can just transfer with that any issue
- 1:15:29Speaker 3: unless things change, which I don't foresee that happening right now.
- 1:15:33Speaker 3: That's the one thing that's like I've kept my eye
- 1:15:35Speaker 3: on because yes, he's done an incredible job of recruiting
- 1:15:38Speaker 3: for in the future and building a team for the future,
- 1:15:41Speaker 3: but like, the team next season is still going to
- 1:15:43Speaker 3: have to be heavily transferportal based because, like I said,
- 1:15:46Speaker 3: You're gonna have almost no veteran leadership. It's gonna be
- 1:15:48Speaker 3: all freshmen, which is fine. Like they're talented theotball, That's.
- 1:15:53Speaker 2: What I'm saying.
- 1:15:53Speaker 3: So you're gonna still like, yeah, it's gonna be if
- 1:15:56Speaker 3: this works out and he like continuously develops every single
- 1:15:59Speaker 3: seas and they get better and better and better. Yeah,
- 1:16:01Speaker 3: that class in twenty twenty seven will be great in
- 1:16:04Speaker 3: either twenty eight or twenty nine, like when they're fully
- 1:16:06Speaker 3: developed and they're like their second year of culture wall.
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: One person said Friman is a study as NFL potential.
- 1:16:12Speaker 1: He is a stud I'm looking forward to seeing that
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: young man. I was just like, Wow, what a flip.
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: That's a big get for Kentucky and that is a
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: big loss for you, of l.
- 1:16:27Speaker 2: It will be potential, just like not.
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: I love how you keep saying that. Oh my gosh,
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: that's your only comeback right there? Okay, Oh hoil guys
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: said Algeria versus Austria was the best game of the
- 1:16:41Speaker 1: World Cup and it ain't even close. I can't comment, Matthew,
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: you're the soccer expert. Was that the best game Algeria
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: versus Austria?
- 1:16:54Speaker 2: No one was really earlier.
- 1:16:55Speaker 3: Right, you're asking the wrong guy. I'm thirty seconds of soccer.
- 1:17:00Speaker 3: I'm just this entire time. I'm just talking to myself.
- 1:17:02Speaker 3: It was oh, yes, okay, I remember this one. Yes,
- 1:17:04Speaker 3: this one was really early or no, it was just no,
- 1:17:06Speaker 3: it was a twenty seven, just a couple of days ago. Okay,
- 1:17:08Speaker 3: think of a different game. I didn't actually get to
- 1:17:09Speaker 3: watch this one.
- 1:17:10Speaker 2: Oh you didn't watch it? Oh my gosh, I didn't
- 1:17:12Speaker 2: get to see this.
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: How can we comment if somebody's texting in and you
- 1:17:15Speaker 1: didn't watch the game.
- 1:17:16Speaker 2: I'm not updating people on Algeria.
- 1:17:19Speaker 3: Sorry, I'm thinking of a different game.
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: All well, okay, Buzz texted in Michael. My red blue
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: text was general. I think you keep us UTD on
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: UK news up today. Oh I even got that up
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: to date on good job Buzz up to date on
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: UK news. I appreciate that. I figured you were, but
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: I wasn't certain about it. But I appreciate you clarifying that. So, uh,
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: yesterday really sad day for horse racing in a couple
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: of ways. I don't know if you saw any of
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: this or not. Aqueduct shut down their doors after one
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: hundred and thirty two years. That was a horse. Huh,
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: I thought that was a horse. No, God, because I
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: said shut down. No, they didn't shut and shoot down
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: a horse. No, they closed down the racetrack. Aqueduct just
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: sounds like a horse name.
- 1:18:13Speaker 2: That is a cool That's a great name for a horse.
- 1:18:16Speaker 3: By the way, I would agree with that Aqueduct Archipelago.
- 1:18:19Speaker 3: I think that'd be a cool name.
- 1:18:21Speaker 2: I like that.
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: Okay, getting I got to name another horse. So anyway,
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: I just thought that was really sad that. Do you
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: even know where Aqueduct is? Aqueduct?
- 1:18:33Speaker 2: No idea.
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: It's in New York. It's on Long Island. I think
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: it's about like twenty miles away from Belmont. You've heard
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: of Belmont, right, I've heard of Belmonte. Okay, good Belmont Racetrack.
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: So yeah, Aqueduct shutdown yesterday, one hundred and thirty two years.
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: So what they've done IRAS is consolidating in the state
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: of New York and invested four hundred and fifty five
- 1:18:59Speaker 1: million dollars and to upgrade Belmont Park. So what they did,
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: I think you know this the last three years, you
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: know how they've run the Belmont Stakes at Saratoga up
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: in up upstate New York. So they tore down Belmont
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: What why are you laughing at? Yeah, they completely tore
- 1:19:19Speaker 1: just like what they're doing at Pimlico where they race
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: the Preakness in Baltimore. They tore it down completely and
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: they're getting ready to open up September eighteenth. It's going
- 1:19:28Speaker 1: to be the first race back there. So that's why
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: they shut down. It's Aqueduct or Aqueduct, I don't know
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: which one, but anyway, first race is way back September
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: twenty seventh at Aqueduct eighteen ninety four. So I just
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: I don't know. I'm kind of sad to see these
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: old race tracks shut down.
- 1:19:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: You had the one in Chicago that shut down because
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: they sold the property. Churchill then sold the property to
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: the Chicago Bears for them to build their football stadium,
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: in which they we bought the property and now are
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: building the stadium over in Indiana. So I thought that's
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: kind of sad here they could have kept the racetrack,
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: kept racing up there. You got Aquadict that's going to
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: be shut down now completely. I don't know, I just
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: kind of hated it. But the other part was Fan
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: Duel shutting down their horse racing operations on TV. And
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: I don't know if you saw any of the video yesterday,
- 1:20:25Speaker 1: but yesterday was the last day that Fan Duel TVG
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: was going to broadcast from Churchill Downs. Did you see
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: any of that on social media? I'm sure you didn't
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: watch it live, but did you see any of the
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: broadcasts shutting down at Churchill Downs yesterday?
- 1:20:40Speaker 2: I did not.
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: The poor announcers were getting emotional on TV and I thought,
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: that's that's just really sad. I hated to see that.
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: So no, and I don't know what's going on. I've
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: talked to a couple of my good friends at Churchill Downs.
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: I said, don't worry, we're going to have We've got
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: a plan. We've got something going on. So I don't
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: know what they're cooking, but we'll have to find out
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: a little later. So all right, we got to take
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: our last break. When we come back, I want to
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: talk about who got booed at Alan Jackson's final concert,
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: which was a star studded lineup down in Nashville. I
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: want to see what you think about this, Matthew, stay
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: right there. One more segment to come does the cat.
- 1:21:31Speaker 2: The music? All right?
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: Uh, no word yet on decision for a small forward
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: Nicole Costa Rica as he's still considering. Gonzaga used to
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: in UK all pursuing the international player, where a lot
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: of people are saying that, you know, since May has
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: gone from Michigan that was the true leader. UK has
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: it and he's going to commit there. But what's taking
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: so long? I mean, I don't understand when these players
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: just take as long as they do to make a
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: decision where they went to the school next? I mean
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: U c LA, you can go to who is it?
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: Cronin that's the coach there.
- 1:22:33Speaker 2: Yeah. I can't imagine playing for him now. I mean
- 1:22:37Speaker 2: players like him, do they really? Yeah? Okay, I wouldn't
- 1:22:42Speaker 2: got it at least throughout his career.
- 1:22:43Speaker 3: Maybe you know, he had a rough season this past season,
- 1:22:45Speaker 3: but I mean career players has liked him.
- 1:22:47Speaker 2: I know that they loved him in Cincinnati before they
- 1:22:49Speaker 2: let him go.
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: Mark Few Gonzaga. But I can't imagine living in you know,
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: I was just there for the weekend Spokane, Washington. I mean,
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: oh my gosh, man, pretty place to visit, but I
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: couldn't live there. You were literally out in the middle
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: of nowhere. I mean, UK's the decision was taking so long.
- 1:23:10Speaker 2: I mean maybe he's, you know, trying to play some
- 1:23:11Speaker 2: people for money.
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: That's exactly what it is, and that's the right answer.
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: It's just more money. His agent is out there working
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: the phones and he's trying to figure out, Okay, let's
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: see how much we can get. You want to go
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: to UK, don't you. Okay, here's what I'll do. I'll
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: work the phones between UCLA and Gonzaga and then I'll
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: get you a better deal at UK. And that's the
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: part that's getting kind of old. Or unless he's using
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: UK to get a better deal at another school and
- 1:23:39Speaker 1: that's where he rather goes.
- 1:23:40Speaker 2: Another school just drives me.
- 1:23:42Speaker 3: I mean, if if his main school was Michigan and
- 1:23:44Speaker 3: now Dusty May is gone, it doesn't surprise me. This
- 1:23:47Speaker 3: dude like is kind of in them, especially if he's
- 1:23:49Speaker 3: coming from Europe or Plans.
- 1:23:55Speaker 2: I don't remember what league. He doesn't matter.
- 1:23:57Speaker 3: If it was Europe or either way, he's overseas, is
- 1:24:00Speaker 3: what I meant, cover overseas. It wouldn't surprise me if
- 1:24:03Speaker 3: this dude just takes the highest offer, like wherever it's at.
- 1:24:06Speaker 2: That's what I would.
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: Well, I don't know if I would you take the
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: highest offer or go somewhere and get the closest offer
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: to the highest offer.
- 1:24:14Speaker 2: If he was.
- 1:24:17Speaker 3: If he was playing like high school basketball in the
- 1:24:19Speaker 3: United States, Yeah, that'd probably mean a lot more, because like,
- 1:24:22Speaker 3: you have ties to this school, we have ties that school,
- 1:24:24Speaker 3: but we just come overseas. Like, I don't think that
- 1:24:27Speaker 3: he cares about the pedigree of this school. I don't
- 1:24:29Speaker 3: think he cares about UCLA used to be this good.
- 1:24:32Speaker 3: He doesn't care about ooh, Gonzaga's led this call. You know,
- 1:24:35Speaker 3: I don't think he cares about that stuff. Like he's
- 1:24:36Speaker 3: from overseas. He plays professional ball now, like he's gonna
- 1:24:40Speaker 3: come over here, probably get the highest offer.
- 1:24:41Speaker 2: Uh oh, how guy said? Uh?
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: Did you see Todd Golden's recent comments that Florida will
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: sue if Denzel Aberdeen is designed denied eligibility.
- 1:24:51Speaker 2: Yes? Uh and uh Here's what I think.
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: I don't I'm not certain the new five year rule
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: doesn't apply to current seniors. It doesn't exactly, So then
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: if that's the case, then he's.
- 1:25:06Speaker 2: Not eligible, right, Yeah, he's not acknowledged war.
- 1:25:08Speaker 3: So I mean, I don't know why. He's still there's
- 1:25:12Speaker 3: a discussion. He's still applied for his waiver. They still
- 1:25:14Speaker 3: have to go through that process, so there is still
- 1:25:16Speaker 3: a chance he could gain eligibility.
- 1:25:18Speaker 2: But as of right now, yes, he is an eligible.
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: I mean there's no backdating this. His time is completely
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: yet and I'm sorry about that, but this is the
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: way it needs to be.
- 1:25:28Speaker 2: We need to follow the rules.
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: And the fact that Todd Golden comes out and says
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: we're going to take legal action, it's like, come on, man,
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: Either the NCUBLEA has power and oversees all or it doesn't.
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: And if the NC DOUBLEA doesn't come down and answer
- 1:25:46Speaker 1: this immediately and get this over with, then there's no
- 1:25:49Speaker 1: reason to have an NC DOUBLEA. Do you blame Todd
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: Golden for fighting this or is he getting on your nerves?
- 1:25:55Speaker 4: No?
- 1:25:55Speaker 2: I mean everybody else fights it exactly. I mean Duke would.
- 1:26:00Speaker 2: That's what drives me nuts about them. You have the
- 1:26:02Speaker 2: money to do it, why not? Yeah, they do, and
- 1:26:05Speaker 2: I wish they didn't. But anyway, all.
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: Right, Over the weekend, Alan Jackson had his final concert
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: and he was retiring because he's got health issues, and
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: he had a star studded lineup of all kinds of
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: country musicians that came there to sing with them, on
- 1:26:23Speaker 1: them and all kinds of stuff. Have you seen this story,
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: by the way, Matthew, No, if they were not, if
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: they were in attendance, if they were not in attendance,
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: they sent videos from different chapters in life and a
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: message along with it. The final one, are you ready?
- 1:26:42Speaker 1: The final one video that was given was by none
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: other than Taylor Swift, in which as soon as she
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: her face came up she started talking. The crowd booed
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: her to where they said it was so loud they
- 1:26:59Speaker 1: could not hear anything.
- 1:27:01Speaker 2: Taylor Swift was saying, that's funny.
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: I want to know why the hate. Why does Nashville
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: not like Taylor Swift?
- 1:27:09Speaker 3: I actually have no idea. I don't either, because that's
- 1:27:12Speaker 3: where she got her career start was Nashville. She's not
- 1:27:14Speaker 3: from Nashville, but that's where she was like really big
- 1:27:16Speaker 3: when she was a kid.
- 1:27:17Speaker 2: Yeah, and a country music singer. And I don't know.
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: Is it because that she's no longer considered country music?
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: Is it because she's engaged to Travis Kelcey, I mean,
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: is it a combination of all of that?
- 1:27:33Speaker 2: What is it.
- 1:27:34Speaker 3: Have you seen the recent like drama between them that
- 1:27:36Speaker 3: people are getting angry about them.
- 1:27:38Speaker 2: On social media for Oh no, I have not, Please
- 1:27:40Speaker 2: tell me. So.
- 1:27:40Speaker 3: They obviously are engaged, yeah, and they're playing their wedding.
- 1:27:44Speaker 3: They formally put in a permit with New York City
- 1:27:48Speaker 3: to shut down all of the streets around Madison Square Garden. Oh,
- 1:27:51Speaker 3: come on, so they can have their wedding around Madison
- 1:27:54Speaker 3: Square Garden.
- 1:27:54Speaker 2: Come on.
- 1:27:55Speaker 3: And people were like, this is the most billionaire thing
- 1:27:57Speaker 3: ever her. They're gonna hinder all of New York City
- 1:28:00Speaker 3: so they can get married.
- 1:28:02Speaker 1: That's that's just not right. They're gonna get married in
- 1:28:05Speaker 1: Madison Square. They're gonna get married like around that area.
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: I don't know if it's like it's just that they're
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: they were shutting down there. They're taking permit, they shut
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: down the streets around Nason Square Gardens. Don't know if
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: it's in there, if it's around the area, but like
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: all those roads are trying to close off.
- 1:28:18Speaker 2: By the way, I just got a text from Justin.
- 1:28:22Speaker 2: He said, that's it. She left country.
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: I what a booed too, And y'all know how I
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: feel about dayte Oh my gosh, man, I, well, I
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: just I thought it was funny. I don't know, I
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: don't know why they're uh they're they're booing her, but
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: uh that's just like whatever, Okay, there you go. So, uh,
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: I was kind of sad to see Alan Jackson retire.
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: You know, I'm not a big country music fan. I've
- 1:28:51Speaker 1: told you the story about meeting him, deavin't I did
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: I tell you I've met Alan Jackson?
- 1:28:56Speaker 2: Possibly? Yeah.
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: So my first roommate in Nashville, Tennessee worked for the
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: label record label that he was on. It's called Arister Records.
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: And so my buddy Steve would always invite me and
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: Patricia before we were married, to go to these things
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: called showcases where they would invite all these different DJs
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: from around the country to come to a small bar
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: in Nashville and hear their acts to you know, get
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: them to be played by all the DJs. You don't
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: remember who this is, but there was a famous DJ
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: here in Louisville, one of the most famous in the
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: United States was based here in Louisville. He worked at
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: WAMZ and his name was Coyote Calhoun. He would be
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: at all of these showcases they want to make sure
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: he came down there because people listened to Kyote Calhoun.
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: And I'm sitting there at the table with my buddy Steve.
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: And Steve this guy walks in, and Steve knew I
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: didn't like country music, but wanted to embarrass me. He says, Oh, Michael,
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: you know who this guy is, don't you. And I
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: look up to him and says, hey, my name's Michael
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: Bennett's very nice to meet you. My buddy here is
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: trying to embarrass me, and I thank you too. He
- 1:30:13Speaker 1: looks down at me says, my name's Alan Jackson. And
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: I had no idea who he was, so anyway, it
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: couldn't not have been nicer.
- 1:30:21Speaker 2: Laughed at me.
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: I laughed at him, but anyway, Yeah, I met him
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: a couple other times after that. He was He was
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: a really nice guy, and I got to a point
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: where I kind of like his music. Are you a
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: big Alan Jackson fan or no? It was not a
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: country music fan at all. Yeah you're not either, Okay,
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: I get it. Some people get it, some don't, don't.
- 1:30:40Speaker 2: I don't.
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: I think the fact that I was forced to go
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: to a few country music things that the Grand ol Lopry.
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: My parents loved it, and as a young child, I
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: just wanted to go and do something else. I just
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: I just like I never liked it since.
- 1:30:59Speaker 2: I don't know a lot. Huh, that's understandable.
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: Yeah, And a lot of those country music acts when
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: you'd be in Nashville living there and they you'd see
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: him somewhere and they'd just be kind of upity, like
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: I was supposed to know who they are.
- 1:31:09Speaker 3: I just don't like country music because of the accents.
- 1:31:12Speaker 3: I don't like to hear their voices sound it sounds forced.
- 1:31:15Speaker 2: Oh you think it sounds fake?
- 1:31:16Speaker 3: Yeah, it sounds forced like it sounds almost too country sometimes. Really,
- 1:31:20Speaker 3: I get some people don't sound like that. Some people
- 1:31:22Speaker 3: like that's not everybody, okay, but like I I that's
- 1:31:25Speaker 3: like the countries that I can't stand is like, I'm like,
- 1:31:27Speaker 3: this is the thickest country acts I've ever heard.
- 1:31:29Speaker 2: It almost sounds fake. Who can you name an artist
- 1:31:32Speaker 2: that sounds like that? What's the one that sings?
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: Uh?
- 1:31:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know. Hold on, I.
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: Don't listen to country music, and often it's okay, Oh,
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: don't worry about it, forget it. I was hoping you
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: might remember, but you don't remember, don't worry about it.
- 1:31:49Speaker 2: You don't have to look it up. It's okay.
- 1:31:50Speaker 3: Like my dad always listened. I can't tell you how
- 1:31:53Speaker 3: many times to listen to Big Green Tractor growing up
- 1:31:55Speaker 3: because my dad loved that song. Oh really, I literally
- 1:31:57Speaker 3: hate that song. I can't stand it. I remember, I
- 1:31:59Speaker 3: don't remember who it is, but I have no idea. Gosh,
- 1:32:03Speaker 3: I literally can't say. I've never heard that song in
- 1:32:05Speaker 3: my life. So, Uh, anyway, I do before we go,
- 1:32:08Speaker 3: I do want to say something while I was gone.
- 1:32:11Speaker 3: I knew about this a couple of weeks ago because
- 1:32:14Speaker 3: I heard the news through UH Mike Polio UH, the
- 1:32:17Speaker 3: former assistant ad at University of Louisville. UH and I
- 1:32:21Speaker 3: were having lunch together and he told me about Kenny Klein.
- 1:32:26Speaker 4: UH.
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: I didn't know Kenny that well, but every time UK
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: would play U L he always came up to me
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: and UH and the first time I introduced myself to
- 1:32:38Speaker 1: him and we had a nice little conversation there a
- 1:32:41Speaker 1: few years back at the Young Center downtown Louisville, and
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: ever since then, he would always make a point to
- 1:32:46Speaker 1: come say hello to me, and I just wanted to
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: say how sorry I am too about him and his family,
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: and uh, the untimely, unfortunate death that happened. And I
- 1:32:59Speaker 1: just what a great person nobody disliked Kenney Klein. Uh,
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: the sports in information director for so many years at
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: U of L and then obviously up at Saint John's,
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: Rick Patino, and and uh, I'm just so sorry to
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: hear that funerals are going to be this morning, uh
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: in just a couple of minutes. But uh, I just
- 1:33:17Speaker 1: wanted to say that about Kinney Klein. And and rest easy,
- 1:33:20Speaker 1: my friend. And sorry didn't get to know you better,
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: But what a great gentleman he was, and I always
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: appreciated a little bit of time I got with him.
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: All Right, every right, we'll see you tomorrow, and just
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: the cats. It's gonna be a short week, but you
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: know we're gonna be here, so stay right there. We'll
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: see you tomorrow. I have a great day, I
- 1:33:39Speaker 2: Get it.
