- 0:10Speaker 2: The World's a pigeon Podcas.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 0:21Speaker 2: I need a party ready, Donnie said storage.
- 0:23Speaker 3: You know, it's got like built in trastion.
- 0:25Speaker 2: He's got a little like.
- 0:26Speaker 3: A winelage, you know, a little wine fridge maybe, and
- 0:29Speaker 3: you know, like just the whole thing, like ready to party.
- 0:32Speaker 3: Well for beers to know. And I'm thinking to myself,
- 0:34Speaker 3: I can help him.
- 0:34Speaker 2: I take any of the top five quarterbacks over what
- 0:39Speaker 2: we've dealt with since Brady, and I'll scream if we
- 0:42Speaker 2: don't take Daniels. If May has gone at three, okay,
- 0:46Speaker 2: I'll just stop talking then.
- 0:47Speaker 4: You know, Mike likes Jaden Daiels. I like Jaydon Daniels too.
- 0:50Speaker 4: I'm with Mike, but doesn't mean that like you're wrong.
- 0:54Speaker 4: I don't know gang And he's too nice to just
- 0:56Speaker 4: say yeah, I don't buy it. Sucks And he just
- 0:58Speaker 4: doesn't like the squinting squinting because Mike is not sold
- 1:01Speaker 4: on Jayden and Daniel Paul.
- 1:02Speaker 2: You're doing is repeating what everyone else is saying, right right, Wow.
- 1:05Speaker 2: But you're doing it while you're eating.
- 1:06Speaker 3: A lemon and scret right, he's squinting.
- 1:08Speaker 4: I understand why you would think that he's not a
- 1:10Speaker 4: good prospect, Evan, because you don't know, like I know.
- 1:13Speaker 3: This is how people think.
- 1:14Speaker 2: I said, email said I went to Northeastern, and Paul saying,
- 1:17Speaker 2: I don't care that he went to Northeastern. I still
- 1:19Speaker 2: don't care about PFF stats.
- 1:21Speaker 4: You know how I usually say I never said that.
- 1:23Speaker 4: I am quite sure sure that I said exactly.
- 1:27Speaker 2: So every ball that each team has, you know that
- 1:31Speaker 2: the big ball bag here, it's infamous. This is Patriot's Unfiltered.
- 1:36Speaker 4: Presented by Toyota's official website for deals by a Toyota
- 1:40Speaker 4: dot com.
- 1:42Speaker 2: All right, welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. It is Thursday, and
- 1:48Speaker 2: uh it's another edition of our show. It's Tamara, Paul, myself.
- 1:54Speaker 2: I assume Evan'll be bye later.
- 1:57Speaker 4: Yeah, thanks an assumption.
- 1:59Speaker 2: Okay, this is on vacation, yes, out in sunny California.
- 2:03Speaker 2: But we are now one week away from the draft,
- 2:08Speaker 2: and this morning Elliott Wolf had his pre draft you
- 2:13Speaker 2: know conference, something we hope will be now a tradition
- 2:16Speaker 2: for him in the years to come. But this was
- 2:19Speaker 2: his first one at the Helm, and I don't know
- 2:23Speaker 2: your thoughts. I thought he did well. Obviously didn't give
- 2:26Speaker 2: us any information, but did it in a nice way.
- 2:29Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:29Speaker 4: Yeah, he's a pleasant fellow.
- 2:31Speaker 3: Yeah yeah.
- 2:32Speaker 5: I thought it was kind of great to hear him
- 2:34Speaker 5: say today, we're open for business, trading up, trading down,
- 2:37Speaker 5: you know, we're open to anything, especially with the conversation
- 2:40Speaker 5: that we had here on radio on Tuesday saying that
- 2:42Speaker 5: we didn't want them to make a reach with the
- 2:45Speaker 5: number three pick if they weren't sure on a quarterback.
- 2:47Speaker 5: And it sounds like if they aren't sure, it doesn't
- 2:49Speaker 5: have to be a quarterback three at three. They're open
- 2:51Speaker 5: to moving back to right. So I kind of like
- 2:53Speaker 5: the flexibility that they have going into Thursday night.
- 2:56Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:56Speaker 4: Yeah, I thought that he had some interesting comments with
- 3:00Speaker 4: regard to the class and specifically the quarterbacks. I thought
- 3:04Speaker 4: it was interesting that he, you know, he offered He
- 3:09Speaker 4: was asked about like May and Daniel specifically, and then
- 3:14Speaker 4: sort of opened it up and said, you know, we
- 3:15Speaker 4: feel that way. He said nice things about them, and
- 3:18Speaker 4: he said we feel that way about all six of them. Yeah,
- 3:21Speaker 4: he offered six, so he's including Pennix, McCarthy, and Nix
- 3:27Speaker 4: into that group. I'm going to assume he's not talking
- 3:30Speaker 4: about anybody outside of those, But he was talking sort
- 3:33Speaker 4: of a reference to May and being very impressed with
- 3:37Speaker 4: what teammates say about him and what team, how the
- 3:40Speaker 4: teammates have talked about McCarthy and May and those guys.
- 3:44Speaker 4: And then he said, but we feel that way about
- 3:47Speaker 4: all six of these guys. So I thought that was
- 3:48Speaker 4: an interesting tidbit that he threw out there.
- 3:50Speaker 5: Yep, yeah, I thought that was intriguing too. Personally me,
- 3:55Speaker 5: I would prefer not to choose McCarthy at three, Like,
- 3:59Speaker 5: I don't think we should be picking him at three.
- 4:00Speaker 5: I think it definitely should be Jaden or May, Jane
- 4:03Speaker 5: Daniels or Drake May. But it is nice to see
- 4:06Speaker 5: that they're open to other quarterbacks if they do trade
- 4:08Speaker 5: back and they end up getting McCarthy.
- 4:10Speaker 2: But I don't want to I go back and forth.
- 4:13Speaker 2: But to me, if you're not willing to take McCarthy
- 4:16Speaker 2: at three, I wouldn't take him in the trade back either.
- 4:19Speaker 4: I totally I agree now that the caveat Yet there
- 4:23Speaker 4: is another side to that, because you're saying, well, I
- 4:25Speaker 4: wouldn't take him at three, but I'll take him at
- 4:27Speaker 4: at eight if I can get him and well another pick, yeah,
- 4:33Speaker 4: you know, so that it's more valuable.
- 4:34Speaker 3: But I agree with you.
- 4:35Speaker 4: If I like him that much, I don't want to
- 4:37Speaker 4: roll the dice and move down and just keep my
- 4:40Speaker 4: fingers crossed it else.
- 4:41Speaker 2: I mean, let's let's face it, if you're picking any
- 4:44Speaker 2: quarterback at eight, that's a higher pick than you picked
- 4:47Speaker 2: mac Jones. So you want him to be your starting quarterback?
- 4:51Speaker 3: It is? Yeah, right, m hm, you know, so.
- 4:55Speaker 4: I totally agree if you if if he really likes Carthy, yeah,
- 5:00Speaker 4: I'm with Tamara. I kind of don't. I do see
- 5:05Speaker 4: the upside. I recognize he has upside, just like the
- 5:08Speaker 4: other guys. But if he likes him that much, it
- 5:13Speaker 4: would be disappointing that he wouldn't like him to the
- 5:16Speaker 4: point where he's just going to take him at three,
- 5:18Speaker 4: right like that would be disappointing to me. And I'm
- 5:20Speaker 4: not I think, you know, I think the very last
- 5:23Speaker 4: question of the press conference, Tom Karran asked him if
- 5:27Speaker 4: he would feel how he would feel about May Daniels,
- 5:34Speaker 4: and uh, you know, McCarthy, you know he'd be okay,
- 5:38Speaker 4: you know, as he gotten to the point where he'd
- 5:40Speaker 4: feel pretty much okay with any of those, and he
- 5:43Speaker 4: said he would. He's gotten the point, and that's kind
- 5:46Speaker 4: of when he threw out the you know, like being
- 5:48Speaker 4: happier at all six of them.
- 5:49Speaker 2: Now somebody can say, well, Fred, what if they absolutely
- 5:55Speaker 2: know one hundred percent that if they trade down they
- 5:57Speaker 2: can still get McCarthy. Yeah, they take him at three,
- 5:59Speaker 2: but now you can get the guy you want. How
- 6:02Speaker 2: can you be.
- 6:03Speaker 4: Sure The only way that can be true is if
- 6:04Speaker 4: you trade down one spot, right.
- 6:06Speaker 2: You can never be sure of that.
- 6:08Speaker 5: You know, you couldn't be sure of that because I
- 6:10Speaker 5: feel like it's too much of a gamble, especially when
- 6:12Speaker 5: you have the Giants allegedly wanting a quarterback, the Vikings
- 6:15Speaker 5: warning a quarterback. It's like, what if more trades happened
- 6:19Speaker 5: in both the Giants and the Vikings get the quarterback,
- 6:21Speaker 5: and then you're like, oh, there's.
- 6:22Speaker 4: No but it's every team. It's all the teams picking
- 6:25Speaker 4: the teams that now have the ability to jump in
- 6:27Speaker 4: ahead of you as well. So it's a risk, and
- 6:30Speaker 4: I think it's not all that different than what Bill
- 6:32Speaker 4: Belichick did last year with Christian Gonzalez. Yep, he went
- 6:36Speaker 4: from I just if they just want to say from
- 6:38Speaker 4: fourteen to seventeen. I forget the exact numbers, but he
- 6:41Speaker 4: slid down a couple of spots in the first round,
- 6:43Speaker 4: and they still with an eye on Gonzales and still
- 6:45Speaker 4: got Gonzales. Washington in between took a cornerback and Manual
- 6:49Speaker 4: Forbes that very easily could have been Christian Gonzales. Right now,
- 6:52Speaker 4: part of that is understanding and knowing and forecasting the
- 6:56Speaker 4: board and knowing, you know, maybe we had intel that
- 7:01Speaker 4: Washington wasn't interested in the corner, but they like Forbes,
- 7:04Speaker 4: so they're not going to take Gonzales.
- 7:06Speaker 2: Yep.
- 7:07Speaker 3: But it's still a risk.
- 7:08Speaker 4: Because maybe even that information A might not be right
- 7:11Speaker 4: and B what if Washington.
- 7:13Speaker 3: Did like Forbes.
- 7:15Speaker 4: But that's because they assumed Gonzales was going to be gone. Yep,
- 7:18Speaker 4: you know, so there's risk to that, and I would
- 7:21Speaker 4: rather just take the guy. So it's all if I
- 7:23Speaker 4: was convicted in the guy.
- 7:24Speaker 2: It's all very exciting, and we are excited because on Thursday,
- 7:30Speaker 2: we're going to be live from the GP Atrium here
- 7:33Speaker 2: at Gillette Stadium. We'll be live at the draft party.
- 7:37Speaker 2: We're going to start our show at seven thirty, and
- 7:41Speaker 2: we are going to be live video all night, all
- 7:44Speaker 2: night on Patriots dot Com and the Patriots app. Video
- 7:49Speaker 2: all night will be live video on Social from eight
- 7:53Speaker 2: thirty to nine to capture the you know pick, assuming
- 7:57Speaker 2: they stay at three, to get that on all channels.
- 8:01Speaker 2: But per league rules, were only allowed a half an
- 8:03Speaker 2: hour half an hour hof during on so yeah, during
- 8:06Speaker 2: the draft broadcast windows. So we're gonna pick the half
- 8:09Speaker 2: hour hopefully when they make that number three pick. But otherwise,
- 8:13Speaker 2: if you stay on Patriots dot Com, you're gonna see
- 8:16Speaker 2: us from seven thirty all the way through the through
- 8:19Speaker 2: the draft. And I might have something special that I'm
- 8:22Speaker 2: gonna be wearing, just so people know.
- 8:25Speaker 5: I have sources have told me things.
- 8:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:29Speaker 3: Yeah, so German soccer shirt. No, So I have a question.
- 8:34Speaker 4: So but but it's relating to this all right, because
- 8:39Speaker 4: I was busy with my shows. Yeah, and I did
- 8:42Speaker 4: not attend the meeting this week, and I know a
- 8:45Speaker 4: lot of this stuff was talked about. So eight thirty
- 8:48Speaker 4: to nine, do we have the ability to go live
- 8:52Speaker 4: if we're picking before eight thirty on Social?
- 8:56Speaker 2: Yeah, we can choose whatever window we want, we can,
- 8:59Speaker 2: as long as we don't go over thirty minutes, right.
- 9:01Speaker 4: So like because there's I mean, I think that eight
- 9:03Speaker 4: thirty to nine probably is gonna be pretty safe.
- 9:05Speaker 3: But the draft star said eight.
- 9:08Speaker 4: I assume you know, Goodell, we'll kick it off at
- 9:10Speaker 4: like eight ten or something like that. If Chicago and
- 9:14Speaker 4: Washington make picks, you know, within ten minutes.
- 9:17Speaker 2: Yeah, it could be earlier.
- 9:18Speaker 4: It could be earlier than eight thirty. I just want
- 9:20Speaker 4: to know that ability.
- 9:21Speaker 2: We'll be nimble. But if you're on Patriots dot com, yeah,
- 9:23Speaker 2: you're gonna have not gonna miss it.
- 9:25Speaker 4: Wall So we don't do we haven't. We didn't do
- 9:28Speaker 4: video no cte.
- 9:29Speaker 2: I don't. Yeah, we never did video the whole time
- 9:32Speaker 2: on I thought on the first.
- 9:34Speaker 5: We just did like the first hour, right.
- 9:36Speaker 2: Yeah, ish yeah, So so that'll be that'll be cool.
- 9:40Speaker 2: And then on Friday three hours live video on Patriots
- 9:47Speaker 2: dot Com, and then another two hours on Saturday. But
- 9:51Speaker 2: otherwise we'll be covering everything. We're gonna have after each pick,
- 9:55Speaker 2: live reaction from outside the war room. So whether it's
- 9:58Speaker 2: Elliott Wolf or Girodmeo or somebody will come out and
- 10:02Speaker 2: go live with us on Patriots Unfiltered, not they won't
- 10:06Speaker 2: be in studio that we'll bring him down to a
- 10:08Speaker 2: room near the war room and we'll get the first
- 10:10Speaker 2: reaction from them live on our show. So that'll be cool. Obviously,
- 10:15Speaker 2: we'll cover all the press conferences live, you know, after
- 10:17Speaker 2: each day or whenever they have them. We'll go live
- 10:20Speaker 2: with that. So it's gonna be a fun time on Thursday, Friday,
- 10:24Speaker 2: Saturday on the Patriots media channels. So very excited about that.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Drink and content. We'll have evidence of Evan not being
- 10:33Speaker 2: happy with any of the picks.
- 10:35Speaker 5: Can we get like an Evan? Because he's not here,
- 10:37Speaker 5: I feel like I can ask this question of like
- 10:39Speaker 5: can we get like a go pro like specifically on Evan?
- 10:42Speaker 2: Yeah, we could, you know Evan Cam, Yeah, we'll talk
- 10:47Speaker 2: Lens Lazar. I was gonna say Lazarre looking yeaheah yeah.
- 10:52Speaker 3: Nothing will talk Eric though nobelievable. He was so upset.
- 10:57Speaker 2: It's like it's like they start year. It was like
- 11:01Speaker 2: a personal affront to him, like, you know, how could they.
- 11:04Speaker 4: You know, because of all of that, you know, the
- 11:05Speaker 4: voluminous notes he took, all the draft picks.
- 11:08Speaker 3: I just went to waste.
- 11:09Speaker 5: Speaking of you left yours? Where's the beast?
- 11:13Speaker 6: Oh?
- 11:13Speaker 2: Yeah, beast? And I got my r lads. Okay, I'm
- 11:16Speaker 2: all set now, I got I got all my my
- 11:19Speaker 2: reference books. So very excited.
- 11:22Speaker 5: Fred looks like he's studying for the elsats.
- 11:25Speaker 3: Yeah, with his sweater, with the sweater and the full
- 11:28Speaker 3: stack of notes.
- 11:29Speaker 2: The problem I can't remember this stuff. That's you guys.
- 11:32Speaker 2: You read it and then you start reciting.
- 11:35Speaker 3: Don't put me in evident in Mike's catch.
- 11:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I just I have to keep going back. What
- 11:40Speaker 2: did I think of him? What?
- 11:41Speaker 7: You know?
- 11:42Speaker 4: Like I was laughing yesterday on my on one of
- 11:44Speaker 4: my shows, they were talking about defensive linemen, I think,
- 11:48Speaker 4: or outside linebackers. And then you know how they just
- 11:51Speaker 4: they you know, Mike and Tony throw markers at the
- 11:53Speaker 4: board and they have their big board. So one of
- 11:55Speaker 4: the guys that's he was scheduled as a seventh round
- 11:58Speaker 4: pick and they're going, wow, you know he's your day
- 12:00Speaker 4: three guys like you know, and then Barth you know
- 12:03Speaker 4: this guy and he goes, yeah, yeah, more like a
- 12:05Speaker 4: fourth round pick, like just yeah, like they like they
- 12:08Speaker 4: know these guys.
- 12:09Speaker 2: Oh, Barth is he's pretty good too. He knows his names.
- 12:13Speaker 3: Yeah, real happy for you. I can't remember the names.
- 12:15Speaker 2: I can't remember people in my lives, my life's name,
- 12:19Speaker 2: you know.
- 12:19Speaker 4: I used to like, I tease them, I make fun
- 12:22Speaker 4: of them. I did the same thing for years and years,
- 12:24Speaker 4: Andy and I knew three hundred players, and then you
- 12:27Speaker 4: realize you're only picking seven of them. Yeah, there's just
- 12:32Speaker 4: not a whole lot in it for you at the
- 12:34Speaker 4: end of the day. But yeah, I did the same thing.
- 12:38Speaker 4: I'm not making fun of them at all.
- 12:39Speaker 2: It's it's part of the it's what their job is,
- 12:42Speaker 2: part of the process, and they should know all that stuff.
- 12:45Speaker 3: I do not know.
- 12:46Speaker 4: You know, hundreds and hundreds of players every year in
- 12:48Speaker 4: the draft anymore like I did.
- 12:50Speaker 2: Well, Barth's is already starting on next year's and I'm
- 12:54Speaker 2: not kidding, and he'll admit it, you know, I would.
- 12:57Speaker 4: I feel like, if you, if you're like that, you
- 12:59Speaker 4: should probably be looking to get in the business and
- 13:02Speaker 4: do it.
- 13:04Speaker 2: In the business.
- 13:05Speaker 3: No, I mean that with the teams, right, right, Go
- 13:08Speaker 3: get a job with the team.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Yeah. So I was at Elliott Wolf's press conference. Two
- 13:13Speaker 2: of you were there. I thought it was a good
- 13:15Speaker 2: sized crowd.
- 13:16Speaker 3: Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, Yeah.
- 13:18Speaker 2: I thought the mood was optimistic and upbeat from the media.
- 13:23Speaker 2: I think they, you know, the same. You know Elliott
- 13:26Speaker 2: was talking about is a good vibe going on right
- 13:29Speaker 2: now in football. I think there's also a good vibe
- 13:32Speaker 2: going on right now with the media. I think they're
- 13:34Speaker 2: excited to do their job well.
- 13:36Speaker 4: I think the third pick is that lends that excitement.
- 13:38Speaker 4: I was more sort of interested in some of the
- 13:42Speaker 4: things that he said about the team in general, some
- 13:44Speaker 4: of the questions he was asked about the personnel and
- 13:47Speaker 4: some of his reactions to some of those things, because,
- 13:49Speaker 4: like you said, Fred, you know, he was very He's
- 13:52Speaker 4: a very pleasant fellow. Obviously, he didn't tell you any
- 13:54Speaker 4: more than Bill Belichick, would you know, No, should he right?
- 13:58Speaker 4: But you know, he was asked specifically. I think Ben
- 14:01Speaker 4: Vollen asked him, you know, if the season started today,
- 14:05Speaker 4: you know, who would be the left tackle, and he
- 14:08Speaker 4: said it would be a core for who's never played
- 14:11Speaker 4: left tackle in the NFL. He did play some left
- 14:14Speaker 4: tackle in college. So that was kind of mildly concerning.
- 14:19Speaker 5: The wide receiver question was very interesting and was not
- 14:24Speaker 5: an answer.
- 14:25Speaker 3: Karen Gregy.
- 14:26Speaker 2: He went down the offense and kind of left out
- 14:28Speaker 2: wide receivers.
- 14:29Speaker 3: Well, no.
- 14:30Speaker 4: Karen asked him specifically if he felt like the there
- 14:34Speaker 4: was not enough respect being paid to his wide receiver
- 14:37Speaker 4: room in his tackle room, and he said yes, he
- 14:40Speaker 4: did address. He said, yes, and I feel like I
- 14:42Speaker 4: feel like not enough we have like an AC fan.
- 14:45Speaker 4: He said, yeah, that that needs to be.
- 14:47Speaker 2: I tried to have it shut off, but.
- 14:50Speaker 4: I agree with you that was kind of distracting, but
- 14:53Speaker 4: Elliott said that, yeah, yes, I feel like those rooms
- 14:57Speaker 4: are being a little bit underlooked, undervalued, and we felt
- 15:02Speaker 4: like we have NFL players that all those INDI he
- 15:04Speaker 4: battled off four or five positions and I tweeted out
- 15:07Speaker 4: that comment and the predictability comes well.
- 15:10Speaker 3: Well, obviously the role in the NFL.
- 15:13Speaker 4: You know you didn't say they're good players, Yes, I know.
- 15:15Speaker 4: I just think he was trying to be sort of
- 15:19Speaker 4: supportive of the players that he asked right.
- 15:21Speaker 5: Well, the question I think I forgot who was asked
- 15:24Speaker 5: it in front of me, but asked about what do
- 15:26Speaker 5: you think the issue is with why you guys cannot
- 15:28Speaker 5: develop wide receiver? Mark Daniels, I think yes, And it
- 15:31Speaker 5: was kind of just like a fumbling of words where
- 15:34Speaker 5: there wasn't an answer to it.
- 15:35Speaker 2: Yeah, he said, I can't tell you why, but he
- 15:38Speaker 2: didn't deny it. Like he didn't say, well, I you know,
- 15:41Speaker 2: I think we've developed quite a few, you know, he
- 15:43Speaker 2: didn't say that. You know, yeah I did. There's and
- 15:49Speaker 2: it's that's a tough one to answer because there's a
- 15:51Speaker 2: lot of reasons. It's a the players they chose, but
- 15:55Speaker 2: b you know, when Brady was here, this was a
- 15:58Speaker 2: tough place to break in if you were a wide receiver,
- 16:00Speaker 2: you know, because Brady was the playbook and he demanded
- 16:06Speaker 2: guys just to be on the same page right away,
- 16:08Speaker 2: and some guys just just never got on that, you know,
- 16:11Speaker 2: So that was another reason. And you know, so there's
- 16:13Speaker 2: a lot of reasons why, and you know, receivers didn't
- 16:17Speaker 2: work out, and each one had their own story, you know.
- 16:20Speaker 4: Yeah, it's case by case. Yeah, but I would agree
- 16:23Speaker 4: I think that Brady was part of that. Now, there
- 16:25Speaker 4: were some young receivers that came in and caught on
- 16:28Speaker 4: quickly on branch with Brady, and even like Malcolm Mitchell yep, yeah,
- 16:33Speaker 4: you know he was a contributor as a rookie. But yeah,
- 16:37Speaker 4: I do think that that's been a problem with the coaches.
- 16:40Speaker 4: But this is a different coaching staff, right yep.
- 16:43Speaker 2: So that was that, And then of course yesterday you
- 16:48Speaker 2: know we talk about everything. The story came out with
- 16:51Speaker 2: Don van Natta and Wickersham. Was he involved in that
- 16:54Speaker 2: one too?
- 16:54Speaker 3: It was Seth Wickersham, Van Nada and Jeremy fun.
- 16:57Speaker 2: About Bill's job search and the whole inside story of
- 17:01Speaker 2: the falcons and everything, and locally the big news was,
- 17:05Speaker 2: you know, Robert Kraft kind of scuttled that job thing.
- 17:10Speaker 2: I think, Paul, you did a good job on ninety
- 17:12Speaker 2: eight point five, Like.
- 17:13Speaker 4: I want you to pay attention because this may be
- 17:15Speaker 4: the first time this has ever happened.
- 17:17Speaker 2: No, no, no, I think that, you know, I agree. See,
- 17:20Speaker 2: I think you did a good job because I agree
- 17:22Speaker 2: with you. Like everything in that story is kind of
- 17:27Speaker 2: what we knew. Like we knew Bill and Robert Kraft
- 17:30Speaker 2: weren't getting along, you know, right up into the end
- 17:34Speaker 2: and they had the parting of ways. And I don't
- 17:37Speaker 2: think that story added to that. Now, you know, Stacy James,
- 17:41Speaker 2: who was the vice president of PR in the story,
- 17:44Speaker 2: denied that. He said that in the two conversations that
- 17:48Speaker 2: Robert had with Arthur blank related to the job. That
- 17:52Speaker 2: doesn't mean like in the past Robert said, oh my
- 17:55Speaker 2: pain in the ass, you know, head coach, I can't
- 17:59Speaker 2: always trust him. He might have I don't know, but
- 18:04Speaker 2: I don't. I don't think it's I don't think Robert
- 18:06Speaker 2: Kraft is that dumb in a in a phone call
- 18:10Speaker 2: about someone looking for a job too, like do something
- 18:15Speaker 2: that would harm that person getting the job, Like that's
- 18:18Speaker 2: HR one O one. You know, when you're asked for
- 18:21Speaker 2: a reference, A lot of companies don't even allow a
- 18:24Speaker 2: manager to say how that person performed. All they're allowed
- 18:28Speaker 2: to do is confirm that they work there and for
- 18:30Speaker 2: how long they work. Because if you ever say anything
- 18:32Speaker 2: bad and it kept that person from getting a job,
- 18:35Speaker 2: you could get sued.
- 18:36Speaker 5: Wait I did. I don't agree with that. I feel
- 18:41Speaker 5: like if that person is not a good worker, they
- 18:43Speaker 5: should be able to tell you.
- 18:46Speaker 3: Not allowed to do this.
- 18:47Speaker 2: No, that's HR one on one.
- 18:49Speaker 3: These days, you're supposed to say.
- 18:50Speaker 4: That or I'd rather just say I don't.
- 18:52Speaker 3: I'd rather not get rung.
- 18:54Speaker 2: So the reason that's what you're supposed to do, Well,
- 18:56Speaker 2: you're not supposed to do that either, because like if
- 19:00Speaker 2: you're if Tamorrow was a great worker. And I get
- 19:03Speaker 2: a call about Tamara and I said, oh, yeah, she
- 19:05Speaker 2: was great. And then I get a call about Evan.
- 19:07Speaker 2: It's like, well, I can't give you a reference. You know,
- 19:09Speaker 2: I'm only allowed. Then it's like, well, he said good
- 19:13Speaker 2: things about Tamara, but not so that means that Evan
- 19:16Speaker 2: must not have been as good as Tamara. So what
- 19:18Speaker 2: HR says now is you don't give references about anyone.
- 19:23Speaker 2: All you do is confirm that they work there and
- 19:25Speaker 2: for how long. And that way, it's like Bill Belichick.
- 19:27Speaker 2: You can't get painted into a corner by what you
- 19:30Speaker 2: don't say.
- 19:30Speaker 4: Yeah, but I think legally you're not allowed to give
- 19:32Speaker 4: a poor recommendation if you're asked. I think you're allowed
- 19:36Speaker 4: to say to decline.
- 19:37Speaker 2: I think you can say anything you want legally, But
- 19:41Speaker 2: once you get supposed to do but well, no, that's
- 19:43Speaker 2: kind of an HR rule. But once, but once you
- 19:46Speaker 2: say something bad about somebody, now you're on the hook.
- 19:50Speaker 2: If that person finds out that you were the reason
- 19:53Speaker 2: why I didn't get the job, I'm suing you.
- 19:55Speaker 4: I think my larger point yesterday, I don't know if
- 19:58Speaker 4: that was the part that you agree with me on is,
- 20:00Speaker 4: I don't really think this had anything to do with his.
- 20:02Speaker 3: No, I mean getting a job or.
- 20:04Speaker 2: The Robert Craft part was like this. Much of the story,
- 20:08Speaker 2: you know, most of it was the Falcons internally not
- 20:11Speaker 2: wanting him.
- 20:12Speaker 4: And I think that was more because of the structure
- 20:15Speaker 4: that they had in place. And I know that Bill's
- 20:17Speaker 4: side sort of reiterated that he didn't seek total control.
- 20:23Speaker 4: He was fine with just being the coach and all that.
- 20:26Speaker 4: But I think that the rich McKay's and the Fontinas
- 20:29Speaker 4: and those guys behind the scenes are smart enough to
- 20:32Speaker 4: know that they were going to be gone if.
- 20:34Speaker 2: Bill got id one eventually.
- 20:37Speaker 4: Yeah, And I think Arthur Blank looked at it and said, well,
- 20:40Speaker 4: if I do that and I blow everybody out, and
- 20:42Speaker 4: it's I'm turning it over to Bill and then he
- 20:46Speaker 4: does a great job.
- 20:47Speaker 3: For what am I going to get? Two years? Maybe three?
- 20:50Speaker 4: And then I I'm right back in the spot and
- 20:52Speaker 4: now I have nothing in place. I think that's why,
- 20:55Speaker 4: And I think that the proof of that is in
- 20:57Speaker 4: this story. It said Blank, McKay and everybody else involved
- 21:04Speaker 4: was asked to write down their top three candidates, and
- 21:06Speaker 4: none of them had Bill. Yeah, so you tell me
- 21:09Speaker 4: that none of them had Bill because Roberts said, well,
- 21:12Speaker 4: he's kind of tough to deal with.
- 21:13Speaker 3: I don't think that's true.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Yeah, Like, well why.
- 21:16Speaker 5: Did they It seemed like it was such a hot
- 21:18Speaker 5: lead and like flying him in back to back and
- 21:20Speaker 5: like it seemed like he was going to be the
- 21:22Speaker 5: higher and all of a sudden it went high school.
- 21:23Speaker 2: Well from the story it said the second interview was
- 21:27Speaker 2: just a format. It was just out of courtesy.
- 21:30Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, so who knows all the details, it seems,
- 21:35Speaker 4: but yeah, I just thought that. I just it was
- 21:37Speaker 4: another I thought, you know, good story from ESPN, But
- 21:41Speaker 4: I don't necessarily look, I don't necessarily link one to another.
- 21:44Speaker 4: And I think, you know, I always joke with you
- 21:47Speaker 4: like who.
- 21:47Speaker 3: Do you think said this? And who do you think
- 21:48Speaker 3: said that? This one kind of game from the Belichick.
- 21:50Speaker 2: Camp if you write reading the story, Yeah, and there's
- 21:53Speaker 2: probably a little cover your ass yep part of it too,
- 21:56Speaker 2: like if Raheem Morris doesn't work out, well, we couldn't
- 21:59Speaker 2: hire because Robert Craft said you can't trust him.
- 22:02Speaker 3: You know.
- 22:02Speaker 2: But you know, again, I don't think if he said
- 22:06Speaker 2: that and they deny it, I think it was way
- 22:09Speaker 2: before Bill was ever looking for a job.
- 22:11Speaker 4: Maybe Rich McKay wants it out there, saying like, you know, yeah,
- 22:14Speaker 4: you know, well Robert told me that he wasn't really
- 22:16Speaker 4: to be trusted.
- 22:17Speaker 3: It's not my fault, right. I thought it was very
- 22:20Speaker 3: interesting timing that the story comes out in the morning,
- 22:25Speaker 3: then Bill's on McAfee in the afternoon saying that we're
- 22:28Speaker 3: I'm going to be on ESPN next week during the draft.
- 22:31Speaker 2: And you should notice that because that's how they operate
- 22:34Speaker 2: in ESPN. That is I.
- 22:38Speaker 3: I wonder who the source was for the Wickersham story.
- 22:41Speaker 3: I mean, come on, like what, I understand both sides
- 22:45Speaker 3: of it. I just it's pretty cut and dry that
- 22:49Speaker 3: Bill was the source for the peace somebodybody at Bill's camp. Yeah,
- 22:54Speaker 3: which is fine. He's allowed to get his own.
- 22:56Speaker 2: The only difference between Robert Craft and Bill in this
- 22:59Speaker 2: regard is Robert will tell people himself what he's feeling
- 23:04Speaker 2: and Bill will have somebody do it for him. And
- 23:07Speaker 2: that's the only difference, you know. And we know like
- 23:10Speaker 2: nothing's new here, Like we know that they had that
- 23:14Speaker 2: they were had it with each other. It was time
- 23:17Speaker 2: to go, just like it was time for Tom to go.
- 23:20Speaker 2: Because he had had it. Folks, Let's grow up. Our
- 23:24Speaker 2: parents got divorced, all right, we have to deal with it.
- 23:29Speaker 2: We patrios fans have to stop being babies, we're being
- 23:35Speaker 2: bib our parents get divorced. We have to move on.
- 23:38Speaker 2: We have to pull up our pants and move on.
- 23:41Speaker 2: We have a new daddy, okay, And you know, in
- 23:45Speaker 2: a week we might be adopting a new sibling. And
- 23:48Speaker 2: I hope we welcome that new sibling into the family.
- 23:52Speaker 2: This analogy to be drake, I don't know, but we
- 23:55Speaker 2: have to move on. We have to move on all
- 23:57Speaker 2: that stuff, you know, whatever.
- 24:01Speaker 3: And so that was what we do.
- 24:02Speaker 4: We address everything. As you said at the start of that.
- 24:06Speaker 4: That's I just didn't really think it was all that.
- 24:08Speaker 4: I think some of those Wickersham pieces I've been really
- 24:11Speaker 4: sort of enamored with. This one was just kind of yeah.
- 24:16Speaker 3: Every time Seth Wickersham publishes something about the page.
- 24:18Speaker 4: But I saw the Dynasty, and I saw I saw
- 24:21Speaker 4: Robert saying basically, my head coach could be a pan
- 24:23Speaker 4: in the tush he said it, so like there wasn't
- 24:26Speaker 4: really anything that was causing me to stop in my tracks.
- 24:29Speaker 2: Oh, I can't believe that. The other thing I want
- 24:30Speaker 2: to put on the table and we don't have to
- 24:32Speaker 2: like get into it now, we can save it for later.
- 24:34Speaker 2: Is the whole NBA thing. I know the guy was
- 24:36Speaker 2: in the G League when it happened, but he what's
- 24:39Speaker 2: his name, He's been banned for life for betting on
- 24:42Speaker 2: the NBA, which is the only thing that Silver could
- 24:45Speaker 2: have done.
- 24:46Speaker 4: But you know, just be curious to see. Yeah, it's
- 24:50Speaker 4: easy to do with a G League player. And I
- 24:51Speaker 4: also thought poor taste from the NBA. And they're official
- 24:57Speaker 4: and their official release on this, the first lines is
- 25:02Speaker 4: a two way player, a player on a two way contract. Like,
- 25:08Speaker 4: so if it was, like I joked on the radio, yes, say,
- 25:10Speaker 4: if it was like Chris Paul, would it say, like
- 25:12Speaker 4: eleven time All Star although he never won an NBA title.
- 25:16Speaker 3: Although he's very overrated, Like would it include that?
- 25:20Speaker 2: Like?
- 25:21Speaker 3: Why why do we have to disminish the guy's ability?
- 25:23Speaker 3: You had a player in your league who bet on
- 25:26Speaker 3: the games. You did the only thing that you could do.
- 25:28Speaker 4: You don't have to like write and like, to me,
- 25:31Speaker 4: that was an attempt to sort to downplay it because
- 25:33Speaker 4: this doesn't happen with regular plays only only fringe guys
- 25:36Speaker 4: that are on two way contract.
- 25:38Speaker 2: Well, like you said just before, like what if it
- 25:41Speaker 2: was somebody like Lebron or Steph Curry, And I can
- 25:43Speaker 2: guarantee if it was, it would be like, well did
- 25:46Speaker 2: he really do it? And you know, lawyers would be
- 25:48Speaker 2: involved and it would be all drawn out and then
- 25:50Speaker 2: the interpreter there would be an yeah exactly, there would
- 25:55Speaker 2: be an investigation. Then we find out, well it wasn't
- 25:57Speaker 2: exactly Lebron, that'd be a cover up.
- 26:00Speaker 3: You know, absolutely, It's so easy to do.
- 26:02Speaker 4: And I listen, they did it, they did the right thing.
- 26:05Speaker 4: I'm not diminishing what they did. They did what they
- 26:09Speaker 4: should have done. But it's easy to do when it's
- 26:11Speaker 4: a guy that's a French player.
- 26:13Speaker 2: But it's they had to do it, you have to
- 26:15Speaker 2: do it. And that's why I put it in writing
- 26:18Speaker 2: on the Twitter. I said that for these technically now, yeah,
- 26:23Speaker 2: for these betting sites, whether it's DraftKings, are FanDuel or whatever,
- 26:28Speaker 2: individual prop bets on unders should be outlawed. There's too
- 26:32Speaker 2: much control in the hands of the player for under.
- 26:34Speaker 2: You can only bet on individual props for overs, not unders.
- 26:38Speaker 3: But so that's still no.
- 26:40Speaker 2: But like if I'm if I'm shooting X, at least
- 26:44Speaker 2: the coach can take me out if I'm going rogue.
- 26:46Speaker 4: But I could be going rogue, I'm hurting the team
- 26:48Speaker 4: I'm affecting, right, and so they the game.
- 26:51Speaker 2: But on UNDERS, I can like miss the shot, like
- 26:53Speaker 2: I can still pretend I'm trying, or I can pretend
- 26:55Speaker 2: I have an injury so I can't play.
- 26:58Speaker 3: That's what he did, right, So, and I'm saying, so.
- 27:01Speaker 2: Yeah, there's too much control in the hands of the
- 27:03Speaker 2: player for UNDERS.
- 27:05Speaker 4: You know, I think that they should probably pull back
- 27:09Speaker 4: a little bit on the amount of things that you
- 27:11Speaker 4: can add on in games. But in terms of the legalization,
- 27:16Speaker 4: I think this is an example of why it's good well,
- 27:19Speaker 4: because this is how you get caught.
- 27:21Speaker 2: And I think because of the legalization, there's more scrutiny.
- 27:25Speaker 2: Did this stuff happened before it was?
- 27:26Speaker 4: Of course it did, Like if he if he did
- 27:29Speaker 4: all this with Joey the nose, how are you?
- 27:30Speaker 3: How do you know today?
- 27:31Speaker 2: Exactly? Yeah, so I I you know, I'm not a
- 27:36Speaker 2: huge I can hear you drinking tea.
- 27:40Speaker 4: Yeah I'm not. I'm not a huge you know. Certainly
- 27:43Speaker 4: in game I would have no interest in like all
- 27:45Speaker 4: these prop in game, you know, second half, I'm not
- 27:48Speaker 4: a big fan of it. Obviously we can't do it anyway,
- 27:51Speaker 4: even if I were a big fan of it. But
- 27:55Speaker 4: I can't stand the the immediate pushback every time something happens.
- 27:59Speaker 4: Well there's this is what happens, right, The leagues get
- 28:01Speaker 4: in bed with the with draft kings and they're making
- 28:04Speaker 4: all this money.
- 28:05Speaker 3: This has always happens.
- 28:06Speaker 4: Now they're getting caught because there are safeguards against it
- 28:11Speaker 4: with these sites. That's how this guy got caught.
- 28:13Speaker 2: I know. And on one of your shows this morning, Paul,
- 28:16Speaker 2: my brain was starting to hurt because the conversation that
- 28:19Speaker 2: no one was listening to each other each other's point,
- 28:22Speaker 2: so I wasn't. On the show, somebody would make a
- 28:24Speaker 2: point and then the other person would argue something that
- 28:26Speaker 2: wasn't even the other person's point and was just killing me.
- 28:28Speaker 2: But one of the well, you know, they have logos
- 28:30Speaker 2: all over the floor, and how can you you know,
- 28:33Speaker 2: allow to have logo.
- 28:34Speaker 4: What I don't understand what one has to do with
- 28:36Speaker 4: the other exactly. You know, like there's a bud light
- 28:40Speaker 4: logo in every every arena. Should they allowed just be
- 28:43Speaker 4: allowed to be drinking while they're playing, right, Like, should
- 28:45Speaker 4: we just Well, that's what you get, Evan. You know,
- 28:48Speaker 4: if you're going to advertise for bud Light, then you
- 28:51Speaker 4: have to expect Drake may is going to show up
- 28:53Speaker 4: at the draft drunk, right Like, that doesn't that doesn't.
- 28:57Speaker 3: Connect, right. It is an exciting day for him, So
- 28:59Speaker 3: I wouldn't mind it.
- 29:01Speaker 4: Yes, this is what happens when you get in bed
- 29:02Speaker 4: with the alcohol companies.
- 29:04Speaker 2: So, Evan, we talked about Elliott's press conference. What did
- 29:07Speaker 2: you think?
- 29:08Speaker 3: Yeah, I was upstairs typing away. That's why I was
- 29:10Speaker 3: a little late to the show today. But I think
- 29:12Speaker 3: the biggest thing that I keep coming back to, whether
- 29:14Speaker 3: it's gamesmanship or not, is that they don't view this
- 29:18Speaker 3: as a two or three quarterback draft. They view this
- 29:21Speaker 3: as a six quarterback draft. And if you take it
- 29:24Speaker 3: all at face value, what Mayo said and what Elliott said,
- 29:28Speaker 3: trade down is very much on the table if they
- 29:30Speaker 3: get the right offer, I think, because I don't think
- 29:32Speaker 3: that they would be disappointed if they walked away from
- 29:35Speaker 3: this draft with Pennix or bo Nix or even a
- 29:38Speaker 3: little bit later JJ McCarthy or something like that.
- 29:41Speaker 2: I find that hard to believe.
- 29:43Speaker 3: I find hard to believe it could be. But I
- 29:46Speaker 3: just their whole thing has been draft and developed. Or
- 29:51Speaker 3: he said, we're a draft and developed team and accumulating
- 29:54Speaker 3: more picks would be good for us. She said that exactly.
- 29:58Speaker 2: That's fine, but I, you know, we were talking about
- 30:01Speaker 2: it before you got here. If they like JJ McCarthy,
- 30:04Speaker 2: if they really like him, and they don't take him
- 30:06Speaker 2: at three, I think that's wrong because there's no guarantee
- 30:09Speaker 2: that JJ McCarthy is going to be there later. At
- 30:12Speaker 2: the same time, I can't believe that they have six
- 30:15Speaker 2: quarterbacks rated.
- 30:16Speaker 3: Similarly, I don't necessarily think that they have him rated
- 30:20Speaker 3: exactly the same. But my guess similarly, I don't know
- 30:26Speaker 3: if there's any Bill left in that room, then they
- 30:31Speaker 3: probably do because Bill looked at guys and they put
- 30:35Speaker 3: him in buckets. You know, maybe a guy like Caleb
- 30:37Speaker 3: Williams is in a bucket by himself and they look
- 30:40Speaker 3: at him. As Bill says, all six or third round
- 30:43Speaker 3: picks exactly. I know you're being snarky, but he might
- 30:48Speaker 3: look at it and say the drop off, the drop
- 30:52Speaker 3: off from Drake May to Michael Pennix isn't really all
- 30:55Speaker 3: that much. And if we trade out of this pick,
- 30:58Speaker 3: it's not just looking at it as Drake May versus
- 31:01Speaker 3: Michael Penca Michael in the back, and I'm.
- 31:03Speaker 2: Gonna argue the reverse. Then don't take a quarterback at three,
- 31:07Speaker 2: any of them, any of them, because one of them.
- 31:09Speaker 3: Will be Evan's saying.
- 31:11Speaker 4: Evan's takeaway is he thinks that strongly in consideration that
- 31:16Speaker 4: they're not going to take a quarterback because they're gonna
- 31:18Speaker 4: go back.
- 31:18Speaker 2: I don't care if it's Jalen Daniels with Drake May.
- 31:20Speaker 2: If you believed that, then trade down and take somebody
- 31:23Speaker 2: and take a quarters But I can't believe that that's
- 31:27Speaker 2: that's hard for me.
- 31:28Speaker 4: I don't I think he was being I think they'll,
- 31:31Speaker 4: you know, we're open for business. I do think it's
- 31:33Speaker 4: interesting that he said, you know, trade down and trade up,
- 31:36Speaker 4: and I don't think necessarily trade up with the three pick.
- 31:39Speaker 3: It's trade up later in the draft. But they need players, Yep,
- 31:43Speaker 3: they need players, So I understand why they feel like,
- 31:47Speaker 3: quote unquote, they're open for business. It worries me that
- 31:52Speaker 3: they really feel that way about these quarterbacks because I
- 31:55Speaker 3: I don't think that these quarter to your point. I
- 31:57Speaker 3: don't think these quarterbacks are in the same tier. I
- 32:00Speaker 3: don't think they are in the same talent level, you know,
- 32:03Speaker 3: so it it worries me if they look at it
- 32:05Speaker 3: and say that bo Nix and Drake May are, well, okay,
- 32:09Speaker 3: we're good with.
- 32:10Speaker 2: Either me that other than Williams, they all need development.
- 32:15Speaker 3: I think all of them need development. Oh yeah, but
- 32:19Speaker 3: every single I think every player needs development.
- 32:21Speaker 2: I know, but like I mean, Caleb Williams needs something too.
- 32:24Speaker 2: But we know what we know like these other guys.
- 32:28Speaker 3: I think we know what we know for the most part.
- 32:30Speaker 3: With Jayden because he's twenty three, he's been in college
- 32:34Speaker 3: football for a long time. I think you know that
- 32:37Speaker 3: the skill set and what generally the warts are with
- 32:40Speaker 3: a player like that. With Drake May, it's it's obviously
- 32:43Speaker 3: a little bit more of an unknown because if he
- 32:46Speaker 3: can fix the mechanical stuff, he's gonna be an MVP
- 32:49Speaker 3: caliber guy. If he can't, he might bust out.
- 32:51Speaker 2: I think to me, there's enough ifs with all these
- 32:54Speaker 2: guys that they could all use a year.
- 32:57Speaker 4: Yeah, Like I heard someone say, if so hard with
- 33:00Speaker 4: these four quarterbacks because you just don't know. Someone this
- 33:03Speaker 4: morning on one of my shows, and I just look
- 33:06Speaker 4: at what was the year that came when you knew
- 33:08Speaker 4: about all the quarterbacks. Yeah, you just you never know
- 33:12Speaker 4: about these guys. That's why the you know, that's why
- 33:14Speaker 4: it's so high profile that people say, well, you take
- 33:17Speaker 4: those quarterbacks early in the draft and they all bust.
- 33:20Speaker 4: They don't all bust, but a lot of them do.
- 33:22Speaker 4: And that's why, because you never know, and it's a
- 33:24Speaker 4: hard position to play. It's more high profile. And I've
- 33:28Speaker 4: said that a million times. If it's the quarterback, everybody
- 33:30Speaker 4: knows about it. When the tackle busts out in the
- 33:32Speaker 4: top ten, it's you know, no one remembers Andrew Thomas,
- 33:35Speaker 4: who got picked what three years ago and he's been
- 33:37Speaker 4: on three teams.
- 33:38Speaker 3: Yeah. I just that's why I set the guy from
- 33:42Speaker 3: Tennessee and from Tennessee.
- 33:44Speaker 4: Who's the guy from Tenna? Now that's the Giants guy?
- 33:45Speaker 3: Interesting, Yeah, and Andrew Thomas Isaiah Wilson maybe, oh yeah, well
- 33:50Speaker 3: yeah he was, he was. That was a whole different situation.
- 33:53Speaker 3: But off field stuff, right, and you just never know
- 33:56Speaker 3: these things happen. Yeah.
- 33:58Speaker 2: I just.
- 34:00Speaker 3: Everything that they keep saying is about accumulating picks, being
- 34:05Speaker 3: open to trading down. And I get that they have
- 34:07Speaker 3: to say that to an extent with the gamesmanship and
- 34:09Speaker 3: all that kind of stuff, But with the Penix visit
- 34:11Speaker 3: coming in at last minute and all these different things,
- 34:14Speaker 3: I I still think that we all kind of think
- 34:18Speaker 3: stick and pick is is number one on the list
- 34:20Speaker 3: of possibilities, right, you know there's the highest chance of
- 34:24Speaker 3: that of that happening. I wonder if maybe it's a
- 34:28Speaker 3: little bit closer. What this opens the door for tomorrow.
- 34:33Speaker 4: Lenses? So I was I heard told you about this, No,
- 34:38Speaker 4: but I heard she wants to have a camera just
- 34:40Speaker 4: on you. Now, if we trade down, I need that.
- 34:46Speaker 3: I said that my my candid reaction. If you want to,
- 34:50Speaker 3: if you want to stage it that, then we can
- 34:52Speaker 3: do that. I'm not I'm not giving my cold, strange
- 34:55Speaker 3: reaction on our whatever thing she's got planned for me.
- 34:59Speaker 5: I mean everyone's going to see it. We're on video
- 35:02Speaker 5: during the pick.
- 35:03Speaker 3: That's true.
- 35:04Speaker 5: Your candid reaction is going to be captured no matter what.
- 35:06Speaker 3: So now you have to really think about it. What
- 35:08Speaker 3: a trade down wouldn't what they do. I'm not going
- 35:10Speaker 3: to be stone faced. A trade down wouldn't bother me
- 35:12Speaker 3: as much as sticking and picking McCarthy at three, I
- 35:15Speaker 3: think that would break me, honestly.
- 35:17Speaker 4: So that's interesting. We had a poll yesterday on my show,
- 35:20Speaker 4: and the fans agree with you. Yeah, that was exactly
- 35:23Speaker 4: the two options. Sit at three and take McCarthy or
- 35:27Speaker 4: trade down. And it was like seventy five five trade.
- 35:31Speaker 3: Down because I can justify the trade down. We're gonna
- 35:33Speaker 3: do the long term rebuild. We're looking at it through
- 35:36Speaker 3: a lens of a couple of years. We're going to
- 35:38Speaker 3: get a bag. As Mao said, you know, you get
- 35:41Speaker 3: multiple first round picks for three, you don't love the
- 35:43Speaker 3: quarterback that you know whatever, But sticking and picking a
- 35:47Speaker 3: guy that is probably the twenty fifth best player in
- 35:50Speaker 3: the draft third overall, just because he plays quarterback for Michigan,
- 35:54Speaker 3: that that would that would ruin it for me. I'd
- 35:56Speaker 3: be out.
- 35:57Speaker 2: You'd be out.
- 35:58Speaker 3: I'd be out already, that's it.
- 35:59Speaker 2: I mean, take your Jersey mics and just take.
- 36:02Speaker 3: Five months in, I'd be out.
- 36:04Speaker 4: You can't take them, literally, how many times have I
- 36:06Speaker 4: been out twenty five years?
- 36:07Speaker 5: I mean, you did say in the beginning opener, Fred
- 36:12Speaker 5: that if we don't take Jane Daniels at three, you're
- 36:14Speaker 5: gonna scream, so you're gonna in the opening like for
- 36:18Speaker 5: the show.
- 36:19Speaker 2: I must have been kidding because I don't care.
- 36:22Speaker 3: It was actually pretty funny. You're like, they don't take
- 36:24Speaker 3: him out.
- 36:24Speaker 2: I'm not sold on any of these guys.
- 36:26Speaker 3: Well, there are some Jaden Daniels stuff. I know, we
- 36:28Speaker 3: usually do news off the top of the show Washington.
- 36:31Speaker 3: So so there's rumblings, legitimate rumblings. And this isn't coming
- 36:36Speaker 3: from me. I'm just saying. The Twitter spheres is talking.
- 36:38Speaker 3: The streets are talking that Jaden Daniels has been turned
- 36:43Speaker 3: off a little bit by his meetings with the commanders,
- 36:45Speaker 3: that he's not well. That was a week. Well, so
- 36:49Speaker 3: there's more, but yes, go ahead, Okay, So his agent there,
- 36:53Speaker 3: his agent was liking tweets of people that were criticizing
- 36:59Speaker 3: the commanders for how they did their Top thirty visits.
- 37:01Speaker 3: So I don't know if you guys know the whole story.
- 37:04Speaker 4: But I did show PREPV. I know what you're talking.
- 37:06Speaker 3: The commanders brought all four quarterbacks may Daniels, McCarthy, Pennox
- 37:13Speaker 3: to Top Golf together together. Yeah, I heard and did
- 37:17Speaker 3: like a community communal Top thirty visit where all of
- 37:21Speaker 3: them were together the whole time for the visit, dinner,
- 37:24Speaker 3: Top Golf, whatever, And it's basically just like a Bachelor
- 37:28Speaker 3: for quarterbacks, like who gets the rose here? And that's
- 37:33Speaker 3: how they went about it. And Daniels's agent has put
- 37:37Speaker 3: a couple tweets out saying that he is not thrilled.
- 37:40Speaker 2: Because Daniels lost at Top Golf.
- 37:43Speaker 4: Florio and Sims were critical of that, and the agent
- 37:47Speaker 4: was sort of quote tweeting in and liking it and stuff.
- 37:51Speaker 3: Not the first time that Jayden Daniels his camp has
- 37:55Speaker 3: made it clear that the commanders are kind of turning
- 37:57Speaker 3: them off a little bit.
- 38:00Speaker 2: Interesting, Well it.
- 38:01Speaker 3: Matter, probably not. They're probably still going to take.
- 38:03Speaker 2: Them, but well, but maybe they'd be someone that would
- 38:07Speaker 2: want to trade down.
- 38:07Speaker 3: Now, maybe they would take May.
- 38:10Speaker 2: Yeah, if they liked May. But if they had their
- 38:13Speaker 2: heartset on Daniels, but they don't like what they've seen
- 38:16Speaker 2: now from Daniels, then maybe they trade out and go
- 38:19Speaker 2: for JJ McCarthy. I don't know.
- 38:21Speaker 3: This is what you do, yeah, but this is what
- 38:25Speaker 3: you do as a prospect to not get drafted by
- 38:29Speaker 3: a team. Right, You're not gonna come out. Jaden Daniels
- 38:31Speaker 3: is not going to come out himself and tweet commanders
- 38:34Speaker 3: don't draft me. But you just start to hear the agent,
- 38:36Speaker 3: You start to hear the parents, You start to just
- 38:38Speaker 3: hear people in his camp that are just kind of
- 38:41Speaker 3: leaking stuff to the media, like he doesn't really like
- 38:44Speaker 3: it there, he's not really thrilled about these guys. And
- 38:47Speaker 3: then all of a sudden it becomes a thing. So
- 38:48Speaker 3: you think he wants to come here. I think that.
- 38:51Speaker 3: You know, there was a couple of different reports out there,
- 38:53Speaker 3: kind on record saying no for that. Yeah. He It
- 38:57Speaker 3: goes back and forth, I guess.
- 38:58Speaker 2: But well, Bill Belichick was on the Pat McAfee show
- 39:01Speaker 2: yesterday and that's exactly what when you get out from
- 39:04Speaker 2: away from the draft, it's all this A lot of
- 39:07Speaker 2: this stuff is the agents getting it out there, and
- 39:09Speaker 2: as you get closer day before day of the draft,
- 39:12Speaker 2: then you start getting the real stuff, you know, from teams,
- 39:16Speaker 2: But right now it's just agent talk and family talk,
- 39:20Speaker 2: and it's got a buzz.
- 39:21Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah.
- 39:22Speaker 4: I read a piece on looking back at Eli Manning
- 39:26Speaker 4: and his decision to sort of force his way from
- 39:29Speaker 4: San Diego to the Giants, and.
- 39:32Speaker 3: It was pretty well done.
- 39:33Speaker 4: It was on ESPN dot com and it just sort
- 39:36Speaker 4: of hit on all the details of that. But at
- 39:40Speaker 4: the same time, I was sort of wondering, like, that's
- 39:42Speaker 4: a long time ago, that was two thousand and four,
- 39:45Speaker 4: and how come that doesn't happen more often? You know,
- 39:49Speaker 4: And you know, maybe this is, like Evan said, maybe
- 39:52Speaker 4: this is kind of Jaden Daniels's way of sort of
- 39:56Speaker 4: doing that. Maybe not feeling like he has the cachet
- 39:59Speaker 4: that the man family name had at the time, but
- 40:02Speaker 4: this is his way of trying to see if he
- 40:03Speaker 4: can dictate where he gets chosen.
- 40:06Speaker 5: That could really shake things up if the commanders do
- 40:09Speaker 5: trade back.
- 40:10Speaker 3: I don't think they're going to trade back that. I
- 40:12Speaker 3: just think that they might take May May. That's what
- 40:15Speaker 3: I think. Out of both teams, Commanders Patriots, the Commanders
- 40:18Speaker 3: are are definitely the one that are sticking more to
- 40:21Speaker 3: me than than the Patriots.
- 40:23Speaker 4: I'm starting to hear more and more consensus among various
- 40:27Speaker 4: scouts or you know, anonymous gms that it's Williams, May,
- 40:31Speaker 4: Daniels like in some order, Like I mean, it's Williams one,
- 40:35Speaker 4: Daniels in May and whatever order. But those three are
- 40:38Speaker 4: different than the other three So.
- 40:41Speaker 5: Do we think it's McCarthy's camp who's kind of like
- 40:43Speaker 5: pushed this narrative that people are pushing him up.
- 40:46Speaker 3: I think it's Jim Harbaugh did for you, thank you.
- 40:50Speaker 3: That's today Tuesday, that I really fully believe that Jim
- 40:59Speaker 3: Harbaugh is the one and that's pulling all the strings
- 41:01Speaker 3: on the JJ McCarthy stuff.
- 41:02Speaker 2: So that maybe there's a quarterback and not a quarterback
- 41:04Speaker 2: but his guy that.
- 41:07Speaker 3: He's trying to get quarterbacks to go one two things so.
- 41:09Speaker 2: We can get Harrison.
- 41:10Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 41:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 41:11Speaker 3: Uh.
- 41:12Speaker 2: Hey, Patriots fans, if you want to see Toyota's best offers,
- 41:14Speaker 2: including those not seen on TV, go to buy at
- 41:16Speaker 2: toyota dot com. It's Toyota's official website for deals from
- 41:20Speaker 2: the official vehicle, the New England Patriots, Toyota let's go places.
- 41:25Speaker 3: All right, wow, you read that straight.
- 41:27Speaker 5: We'll just go Harba should trade his guy, trade for
- 41:31Speaker 5: his guy?
- 41:31Speaker 3: Then there's no chance. Yeah, but that's my that's my point.
- 41:36Speaker 3: I'm off and you take your guys.
- 41:38Speaker 2: I would would you give would you give two first
- 41:43Speaker 2: round picks for Herbert?
- 41:45Speaker 5: Mm hmm, you would like if you love JJ so much,
- 41:48Speaker 5: take them.
- 41:50Speaker 3: We'll take but That's That's why I feel like that
- 41:54Speaker 3: solidifies it for me. Of why I think this is
- 41:56Speaker 3: all Harbaugh trying to play the game behind the scenes
- 42:00Speaker 3: is because as talented as Justin Herbert is, and he
- 42:03Speaker 3: is extremely talented, he's won nothing in the league. So
- 42:08Speaker 3: if you think that JJ McCarthy is this Hall of
- 42:10Speaker 3: Famer in waiting that's gonna rattle off three super Bowls
- 42:14Speaker 3: or whatever, I mean, that's an exaggeration, but you get
- 42:17Speaker 3: my point. Is it really that outlandish to do what
- 42:19Speaker 3: Tamara is thinking that he should do?
- 42:21Speaker 2: Right?
- 42:22Speaker 3: I mean, Harbaugh, Herbert is, right now, just another one
- 42:26Speaker 3: of those, you know, until he got to the Rams,
- 42:28Speaker 3: like a Matthew Stafford type that has all these physical
- 42:31Speaker 3: ability but hasn't one lick. So if you like your
- 42:34Speaker 3: guys so much, then trade Herbert for a bag and
- 42:38Speaker 3: take JJ.
- 42:40Speaker 5: I would be all in for Justin Herbert being the
- 42:44Speaker 5: Patriots next franchise.
- 42:45Speaker 4: Would you trade to do it?
- 42:50Speaker 3: Like? Three and no? Three? Yeah? Three and twenty fives
- 42:54Speaker 3: first round pick? And I'm for Justin Herbert? And do
- 42:57Speaker 3: I do I get anything back from the Chargers?
- 42:59Speaker 1: No?
- 43:00Speaker 3: Besides Herbert?
- 43:01Speaker 4: No, you'll get nothing in like it probably not no.
- 43:04Speaker 3: I just think they just have too many holes. Like now, I.
- 43:08Speaker 4: Agree that with that, but I think one of them
- 43:11Speaker 4: that you fill is key.
- 43:13Speaker 5: It's key, and it's like you don't have.
- 43:15Speaker 3: To throw and coaching him not necessarily about this year,
- 43:20Speaker 3: it's like I have this guy. Now, I feel like
- 43:23Speaker 3: I can you know, I can make picks. Maybe I
- 43:26Speaker 3: can attract other guys. Maybe I'm in the wide receiver
- 43:29Speaker 3: market with the veterans that we talked about on Tuesday. Yeah,
- 43:31Speaker 3: I mean he's a top ten talent at the position
- 43:34Speaker 3: in all football in my opinion. But I just went
- 43:40Speaker 3: off and said that he hasn't won anything, so just
- 43:42Speaker 3: getting Justin Herbert by himself. The Chargers have Justin Herbert
- 43:46Speaker 3: by himself and he hasn't. He's made the playoffs once.
- 43:49Speaker 5: But I feel like half of that, look though, is
- 43:51Speaker 5: his coach making some really interesting decisions on fourth down
- 43:54Speaker 5: and also his defense just not being able to stop anything.
- 43:57Speaker 3: Absolutely, it's tough.
- 43:59Speaker 5: It's tough to say it's all Justin Herbert and why
- 44:01Speaker 5: he hasn't won anything because his coach loves to go
- 44:03Speaker 5: for it on.
- 44:04Speaker 4: For you, you could ask me in three years and
- 44:06Speaker 4: I could have a vastly different opinion.
- 44:08Speaker 3: You know, I I Tomara's right, but I think that
- 44:10Speaker 3: the things that you heard about Herbert coming out were
- 44:13Speaker 3: he's this like surfer dude, you know, like it's just
- 44:16Speaker 3: not really all that important to him, and he doesn't
- 44:18Speaker 3: necessarily have this that all the intangibles that people talk
- 44:22Speaker 3: about JJ McCarthy where he's this winner and leader and
- 44:25Speaker 3: you know, just all this stuff. Like it was the
- 44:28Speaker 3: opposite with Herbert that he was just kind of chilling.
- 44:33Speaker 2: Interesting if Harbar actually did, you know, put his money
- 44:38Speaker 2: where his mouth is, But I don't know, I don't
- 44:40Speaker 2: think so.
- 44:40Speaker 4: And he what a blockbuster blockbuster that.
- 44:43Speaker 2: Would make for a really really great to stuff. We
- 44:47Speaker 2: need something to happen Thursday. It's like, oh my god,
- 44:51Speaker 2: and you know, everything's buzzing and all the all the
- 44:54Speaker 2: social media is going crazy and not necessarily a bad thing,
- 44:57Speaker 2: like allowing me tunsel. You know, I felt bad for him,
- 45:00Speaker 2: but like just a blockbuster trade or like something like that.
- 45:04Speaker 2: Kevin Costner Knight, Yeah, on drafted.
- 45:07Speaker 5: Do you think it's possible that the Vikings could want
- 45:10Speaker 5: a quarterback so bad that they would give someone Justin
- 45:12Speaker 5: Jefferson like to trade up? But see that the quarterback exactly.
- 45:19Speaker 2: Yeah, you that's why you want the quarterbacks so bad.
- 45:21Speaker 2: It's because we have a receiver now, just need the quarterback.
- 45:25Speaker 4: And the only way that I would see them trading
- 45:26Speaker 4: him is if Jefferson has told them in no uncertain terms,
- 45:29Speaker 4: I am not coming back. You can do whatever you want.
- 45:31Speaker 4: I don't care what you offer me. I'm not coming back.
- 45:34Speaker 5: That's true, could be.
- 45:35Speaker 4: But I mean, I don't think that's happened, and I
- 45:38Speaker 4: I just think that you need to get your quarterback
- 45:42Speaker 4: that you're going to get to have someone like that
- 45:44Speaker 4: to throw.
- 45:45Speaker 2: Web radio at Patriots dot com. Is the email address?
- 45:48Speaker 2: Anything else? I'm leaving out before we We've covered a lot,
- 45:51Speaker 2: we've taught, we've said a lot.
- 45:53Speaker 4: Yeah, we did a lot on on the Wolf press conference,
- 45:57Speaker 4: and we talked about the story.
- 45:59Speaker 3: That's when you kind of came down. Yeah, the story.
- 46:02Speaker 3: You know, Bartha and I got got some heat yesterday
- 46:05Speaker 3: for catch twenty two because I just you know, guys
- 46:09Speaker 3: know me, I can't be bothered with this kind of stuff.
- 46:12Speaker 3: Like if you it's totally fine, if this is what
- 46:14Speaker 3: you're into and you want to talk about the drama people.
- 46:17Speaker 3: Of course, attacked me saying that I couldn't talk about
- 46:19Speaker 3: it because he's my boss and like all this kind
- 46:21Speaker 3: of stuff. But it's just ultimately to me, there's seven
- 46:25Speaker 3: days to go before the draft. This is like my
- 46:27Speaker 3: super Bowl. Like I'm not I'm really not thinking about
- 46:30Speaker 3: some Seth Wickersham story that he published about Robert.
- 46:34Speaker 4: I also don't think like catch twenty two is that
- 46:36Speaker 4: that's not what?
- 46:37Speaker 3: So that's that's what we said. We said, this.
- 46:39Speaker 2: Isn't two, not catch heat.
- 46:41Speaker 4: Yeah, and you know there were no forty times in
- 46:44Speaker 4: that story mat or Sham, no no heights weights for
- 46:47Speaker 4: his stop Watch out, no press corner talk, and so
- 46:50Speaker 4: that's what we said.
- 46:51Speaker 3: We said, this isn't the show for it. Alex is
- 46:52Speaker 3: on different shows. I'm on this show. We'll talk about
- 46:55Speaker 3: it in other platforms for him.
- 46:59Speaker 4: I got a that a boy from Fred for how
- 47:01Speaker 4: I handled it yesterday on my shows.
- 47:03Speaker 3: Good job. I don't ever remember getting an boy for
- 47:05Speaker 3: anything ever.
- 47:07Speaker 2: Els in Wisconsin, Fred, are we really still blaming Brady
- 47:10Speaker 2: for wide receivers not working out? Really? Brady was the
- 47:13Speaker 2: only one that kept them in the NFL. It was
- 47:15Speaker 2: the inability to draft wide receivers. None of them were
- 47:18Speaker 2: good enough to be NFL players, either physically or mentally period.
- 47:22Speaker 2: I wasn't blaming Brady. I was just explaining that I
- 47:25Speaker 2: think because of Brady, this was a you know, in
- 47:28Speaker 2: his later years, was a pretty sophisticated offense.
- 47:31Speaker 3: Yeah. I don't think you blamed Brady.
- 47:32Speaker 2: No, you know, again we're being so sensitive.
- 47:36Speaker 4: He's right, I mean, the email is right. The problem
- 47:38Speaker 4: has been the identify identifying the right ones in the draft.
- 47:42Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, and I.
- 47:43Speaker 2: Go, I should have had his Brady picking his own wide.
- 47:45Speaker 3: Receiver, but I but I did that.
- 47:49Speaker 4: We do this a lot, really, we do this a
- 47:51Speaker 4: lot with the old guys that like, you know, these
- 47:53Speaker 4: old quotes, like you know, everybody throws stuff back in
- 47:56Speaker 4: Bill's face, like from that two thousand and nine documentary,
- 47:58Speaker 4: I just can't get this team to play. How much
- 48:00Speaker 4: mileage have you gotten out of that quote? It is
- 48:02Speaker 4: a good quote, but this is you know, Bill never
- 48:05Speaker 4: says anything, so when he says something that resonates, you know,
- 48:07Speaker 4: you use it over and over again.
- 48:08Speaker 3: Well.
- 48:09Speaker 4: One of the things with this on this topic with
- 48:11Speaker 4: wide receivers that I always point to is that book
- 48:14Speaker 4: that had details of the Falcons Chiefs trade with Julio
- 48:20Speaker 4: Jones and Jonathan Baldwin. Classic, right, and that's Bill. Like
- 48:24Speaker 4: to me, that summarized Bill's mentality, Like, that's why when
- 48:28Speaker 4: I said I was being snarky about the quarterbacks only
- 48:30Speaker 4: a little. I think there's probably some truth.
- 48:32Speaker 3: To how he feels. Oh yeah, I mean Julio Jones. Yeah,
- 48:35Speaker 3: he's pretty good. He's better than Baldwin. But what's the difference.
- 48:39Speaker 3: What's the difference?
- 48:39Speaker 4: Well, one of them is going to be a Hall
- 48:41Speaker 4: of Famer and one of them is going to be
- 48:41Speaker 4: out of the league in two years. And you don't
- 48:43Speaker 4: know the difference. And I'm not saying it's easy to
- 48:45Speaker 4: know the difference even for no. But even for a
- 48:49Speaker 4: Hall of Famer, you know, the best who's ever done it.
- 48:52Speaker 4: Like Bill, it's not easy to understand to identify everyone.
- 48:56Speaker 4: But I think that he feels like that, Why would
- 48:59Speaker 4: you go to that guy and trade all of this
- 49:02Speaker 4: for that guy when this guy's probably seventy eight of
- 49:07Speaker 4: that guy? Why would you do that?
- 49:09Speaker 3: Yeah? I think the wide receiver conversation is always interesting
- 49:12Speaker 3: and the thing that I go back to with it,
- 49:15Speaker 3: especially at the top of the draft, is that they've
- 49:17Speaker 3: always picked guys that were extremely raw route runners for
- 49:21Speaker 3: a system that was a highly complex and centered around
- 49:26Speaker 3: route running. Like the guys that succeeded in this system
- 49:29Speaker 3: were Wes Welker Edelman, you know, even recently like a
- 49:33Speaker 3: Jacobe Myers. Right, Like, you have guys high IQ's great
- 49:37Speaker 3: route runners, like all those types of things, and then
- 49:39Speaker 3: they draft Nikhil Harry or they draft Taekwon Thornton and
- 49:42Speaker 3: they're asking those guys to create separation at the top
- 49:46Speaker 3: of the route and understand sight adjustments and post snap
- 49:49Speaker 3: you know, coverage indicators and things like that. It's like,
- 49:52Speaker 3: what do you why? You know? And we go back
- 49:54Speaker 3: to this draft. It's a completely new offensive system. So
- 49:57Speaker 3: maybe that changes that those raw talents can develop in
- 50:01Speaker 3: an Alex Van Pelt offense. But if it's still gonna
- 50:03Speaker 3: have similar sort of things, then like one of your guys, Fred,
- 50:07Speaker 3: like Alad McConkey, you know, that guy would make a
- 50:10Speaker 3: lot of sense. You know, some of these guys would
- 50:13Speaker 3: make a lot of sense more than you know, a
- 50:15Speaker 3: guy that's just a raw physical talent. And I think
- 50:18Speaker 3: that's where I keep you know, Chad Jackson. Another example
- 50:21Speaker 3: from all the way back it's just like, why are
- 50:24Speaker 3: you drafting that guy?
- 50:25Speaker 2: Yep?
- 50:26Speaker 3: All right, you know what? Suns out funds out.

- 52:01Speaker 6: Halftime Show. Matisse Baalman here joined by Chris Cassy, and
- 52:05Speaker 6: we got some trivia. As always, Chris, don't answer it,
- 52:08Speaker 6: I might Question one, send your answers to Weber Patriots
- 52:10Speaker 6: dot com. Malcolm Butler super Bowl winning inter game clinching
- 52:15Speaker 6: interception against the Seahawks. Who was the pass intended for?
- 52:20Speaker 8: All right?
- 52:21Speaker 6: I know this, Yeah, don't answer it, Bud, all right?
- 52:23Speaker 6: Who was Russell Wilson's pass intended for?
- 52:26Speaker 5: That?
- 52:26Speaker 9: Malcolm Butler intercepted?
- 52:27Speaker 2: All right?
- 52:28Speaker 9: Question two?
- 52:30Speaker 6: Who scored the first Super Bowl points in Patriots team history?
- 52:35Speaker 9: All right? Just points? All right?
- 52:37Speaker 6: That's your hint and question three. In nineteen eighty six,
- 52:41Speaker 6: the Patriots defeated Los Angeles Rams on the hail Mary
- 52:44Speaker 6: pass from Tony Easton for a final second thirty to
- 52:47Speaker 6: twenty eight win.
- 52:48Speaker 9: Who caught the winning touchdown pass?
- 52:50Speaker 8: Yours?
- 52:50Speaker 9: That nineteen eighty six. All right, it's even before my time.
- 52:53Speaker 9: There is what you say?
- 52:54Speaker 8: Super Bowl?
- 52:56Speaker 9: No, just regulars.
- 52:59Speaker 6: I don't know what to say, but anyways, Chris, all right, guys,
- 53:02Speaker 6: send your answers to webreeo Patriots dot com. Today we're
- 53:05Speaker 6: going to talk about some player rivalries. All right. You know,
- 53:09Speaker 6: NFL gets heated. It used to be crazy back in
- 53:11Speaker 6: the day, you know, early thousands, nineties. But Chris, we
- 53:13Speaker 6: just want to talk about some you know, maybe some
- 53:15Speaker 6: famous incidents or player beef. Could be team on teams,
- 53:18Speaker 6: some team on team crime.
- 53:19Speaker 10: Here.
- 53:19Speaker 6: You know, we got we got McNabb. Let's start with
- 53:21Speaker 6: McNabb and Torell Owens. Okay, all right, go ahead, But
- 53:24Speaker 6: do you remember that I.
- 53:25Speaker 8: Don't really know.
- 53:26Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 53:27Speaker 9: You don't know the VF at all.
- 53:28Speaker 8: Maybe a little bit let me start talking about.
- 53:30Speaker 6: I mean, listen, I was a little bit. I was
- 53:31Speaker 6: pretty young then too, but pretty much for you. Yeah, bro, yeah, god, Chris,
- 53:37Speaker 6: come on, come on all right, no you no, no, no, no,
- 53:39Speaker 6: we'll go.
- 53:40Speaker 9: Do you want to want me to do that one?
- 53:41Speaker 10: I don't know the full I mean we should just
- 53:42Speaker 10: talk about the biggest one first, you do the biggest one.
- 53:45Speaker 6: Well, Brady and Manning, all right, fine, I love that. Alright,
- 53:48Speaker 6: go for it, Chris Brady, Brady Manning.
- 53:50Speaker 10: Tom Brady and Paynon Manning. Too many too many games
- 53:54Speaker 10: to count where they were neck and neck. I mean,
- 53:56Speaker 10: Brady I think came out on top most of the matchups.
- 53:59Speaker 10: He did, But I mean that rivalry. The best part
- 54:03Speaker 10: about it was just it was between him and Manning
- 54:09Speaker 10: like they were rivals to everybody. Oh yeah, So when
- 54:12Speaker 10: they went head to head before Manning retired, it was
- 54:16Speaker 10: just must watch television.
- 54:18Speaker 9: Like there was always high yeah everything. It was usually
- 54:22Speaker 9: always a great game exactly.
- 54:24Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 54:24Speaker 6: The one that stands out to me was the three
- 54:26Speaker 6: and the back to back AFC cham Yeah. I just
- 54:30Speaker 6: remember Peyton Manning's jersey just covered in green because he
- 54:33Speaker 6: got beat up.
- 54:34Speaker 8: That Which one was it?
- 54:35Speaker 10: There was one that was closer than the other, right,
- 54:38Speaker 10: it was a have to look I thought there was
- 54:41Speaker 10: one game where they knocked the socks off of the.
- 54:44Speaker 9: Three one cults, for sure, but regardless, that is classic.
- 54:49Speaker 6: That's just classic NFL lore there, you know, it's it's
- 54:53Speaker 6: just funny because Brady ended up playing like almost ten
- 54:56Speaker 6: years longer. But I mean, just those guys must watch TV,
- 54:59Speaker 6: as you.
- 54:59Speaker 8: Say, almost all of you Frasier football.
- 55:02Speaker 6: Oh honestly, And it was just so great and it's
- 55:03Speaker 6: just so funny that they kept it going. I mean,
- 55:06Speaker 6: Manning went to the Broncos and it was still same
- 55:09Speaker 6: thing over and over. But all right, Chris, I got
- 55:12Speaker 6: Donovan McNabb and too pretty much. They had an unreal
- 55:15Speaker 6: season and oh four and you know, went to the
- 55:18Speaker 6: Super Bowl appearance against the Pats and I forget what
- 55:21Speaker 6: game it was. It was late season, too. Messed up
- 55:25Speaker 6: his ankle pretty bad. There's actually a good thing on it.
- 55:28Speaker 6: He talks about like fractured ankle. He's like, just get
- 55:30Speaker 6: to Super Bowl, be ready. And my guy went off
- 55:33Speaker 6: against us.
- 55:33Speaker 9: Like if we didn't win, he was gonna be Super MVP.
- 55:36Speaker 6: And obviously there's some parts of the story don't know,
- 55:40Speaker 6: but McNabb allegedly wasn't too ready, threw up on the field,
- 55:44Speaker 6: and then you know, McNabb actually said some stuff to
- 55:47Speaker 6: the media.
- 55:48Speaker 9: You don't talk about man's money.
- 55:49Speaker 6: And I don't know if you've for seen it, but
- 55:51Speaker 6: that's where Teo was doing sit ups in his driveway.
- 55:54Speaker 9: You've seen that. Come on, I.
- 55:56Speaker 6: Actually don't know if I have all right, Well, once again, Chris,
- 55:58Speaker 6: you got some homework to do, but uh no, that's
- 56:01Speaker 6: that's just an internal one.
- 56:03Speaker 9: But Chris, we also got some others.
- 56:05Speaker 8: Like that Super Bowl though I was only what four.
- 56:08Speaker 9: Yeah, but I mean that's just NFL lore there. You
- 56:11Speaker 9: just know that.
- 56:11Speaker 6: Yeah, I know, all right, we got we got some
- 56:14Speaker 6: other rivalries and you know, we can also talk about
- 56:16Speaker 6: team matchups here. When I just think of NFL rivalries,
- 56:19Speaker 6: I go to the NFC North those games, Browns, Steelers,
- 56:24Speaker 6: Ravens versus anybody. I mean, once again, another Brady thing there,
- 56:28Speaker 6: Tom Bravers, ray Lewis, Tom Ravers, Turell sucks.
- 56:31Speaker 9: Chris, do you want to get in that at all?
- 56:32Speaker 10: I mean, ray Lewis is arguably one of the greatest
- 56:36Speaker 10: line linebackers of all time outside of LT. Yeah, and
- 56:41Speaker 10: that back and forth. They got into it a lot,
- 56:44Speaker 10: especially the line of scrimmage. If they ever ran into
- 56:46Speaker 10: each other, you knew that they were gonna go.
- 56:47Speaker 8: Face to face.
- 56:49Speaker 3: Uh.
- 56:49Speaker 8: The NFL just lived for those type of moments.
- 56:54Speaker 10: But again, just a lot of scenarios where Brady just
- 56:57Speaker 10: had a little bit more juice in them than the
- 56:59Speaker 10: than the other guys.
- 57:00Speaker 6: You got Brady Lewis, you got Brady Suggs. You know
- 57:02Speaker 6: he used to say Sugs versus Uggs also for your time.
- 57:05Speaker 6: But also just the thing you want to talk about
- 57:06Speaker 6: that is that doesn't really happen in the NFL anymore.
- 57:08Speaker 6: You know, it's all about the offense all the time,
- 57:10Speaker 6: and so like these guys aren't allowed to hit anymore.
- 57:12Speaker 6: So that's one of the dying rivalries we see there.
- 57:15Speaker 6: But also let's get into some of the cornerbacks here.
- 57:18Speaker 6: You'll know this one, Odell Beckhams Josh Norman. Yeah remember that. Yeah,
- 57:22Speaker 6: that was one of the best ones, and that probably
- 57:25Speaker 6: won't happen again. These dudes are just scrapping on the field.
- 57:28Speaker 6: You have OBJ visibly did not like each other in
- 57:31Speaker 6: their prime, OBJ with the blonde mohawk. Josh Norman at
- 57:35Speaker 6: that point was probably one of the best corners in
- 57:36Speaker 6: the league. Yeah, just going at it.
- 57:40Speaker 10: What's funny is just you know that interaction, Like I
- 57:44Speaker 10: feel like, even to this day, I don't even know
- 57:46Speaker 10: if they would.
- 57:47Speaker 8: Like each other.
- 57:47Speaker 10: I think there was just clear hatred on the field.
- 57:51Speaker 10: I mean they're throwing each other around like rag dolls.
- 57:53Speaker 10: They weren't even playing football. I don't even think Obj
- 57:56Speaker 10: had a good game. Oh he had a great game,
- 57:58Speaker 10: did he? Yeah, I mean he went on. Norman was
- 58:01Speaker 10: just super frustrated about it. But from what I remember,
- 58:05Speaker 10: just throwing each other around like like it was nothing.
- 58:09Speaker 10: And the amount of flags thrown in that game and
- 58:13Speaker 10: amount of times referee to step in was very funny.
- 58:16Speaker 9: I mean she scored a touchdown and stepped over him.
- 58:18Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, I do remember that.
- 58:20Speaker 6: And then before that we had Andre Johnson Courtland Finnegan
- 58:24Speaker 6: where that was a big scrap and I don't know
- 58:25Speaker 6: if that was because you know that was that might
- 58:28Speaker 6: have been pre red zone. I was watching too many
- 58:30Speaker 6: Textans First Titans games at that point. But I do know,
- 58:33Speaker 6: I do know Audrey Cortland Fittigan was such a pain
- 58:36Speaker 6: paid in the in the ass for every receiver in
- 58:38Speaker 6: the league that I'm pretty sure some players actually been
- 58:41Speaker 6: uh joined together to pay the fine for Andre Johnson
- 58:45Speaker 6: because they were like, thank you for doing this.
- 58:46Speaker 10: Yeah, I was just absolute leech on the field, would
- 58:50Speaker 10: not leave him alone.
- 58:51Speaker 6: But you know what, like, I'm more of an OBJ
- 58:53Speaker 6: guy had uh Audrey Johnson, but I want my cornerback
- 58:57Speaker 6: start and stuff like that.
- 58:59Speaker 9: So that's where you look at for Niceta.
- 59:02Speaker 6: You don't want, but you don't want to get, you get,
- 59:04Speaker 6: you don't wan get kicked out of gave.
- 59:05Speaker 8: You do a fistfight with Andrew Johnson.
- 59:07Speaker 6: You gotta keep your cool. But Chris, that was a
- 59:10Speaker 6: quick fun when we got there. Guy others real quick.
- 59:13Speaker 10: I had one more in mind, but I literally just
- 59:15Speaker 10: left and it's bothered me that I forgot.
- 59:17Speaker 9: That's it's gone into the radio universe.
- 59:19Speaker 6: All right, guys, thanks for tuning in. Let's get back

- 1:02:36Speaker 2: beer sponsor of the New England Patriots. We're gonna be
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: at the GPA Trim for the draft party next Thursday,
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: and I believe that's sponsored by bud Light.
- 1:02:46Speaker 3: Can we have a bud Light? All? Will you be
- 1:02:47Speaker 3: having a bud Light if you give the okay?
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: Okay?
- 1:02:51Speaker 3: Would that be allowed? I mean, what do you think
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: is going to happen?
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: I think once we make our pick, these.
- 1:02:55Speaker 4: Teams get in bed with the alcohol companies that we're
- 1:02:57Speaker 4: supposed to be drunk on the airy.
- 1:02:59Speaker 3: I'm all in.
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: Once we make the pick. Oh you know, take the
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: gloves off, let's go. Little Trivia's ready picked.
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: Thursday Trivia Long Night?
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: Who was it? Who was the intended receiver for Russell
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: Wilson's pass that was intercepted by Malcolm Butler in Super
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: Bowl forty nine? Cardin Lockett, that's correct. Who scored the
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: first Super Bowl points in team history?
- 1:03:22Speaker 3: Tony Franklin.
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: That's right, the only yeah at the time, the only right.
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: They only had three points in that game, right, ten.
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: He scored the first. It's fifty six to ten, right
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: the late forty four to ten, forty four to ten.
- 1:03:33Speaker 2: In eighty six, the Patriots defeated the Los Angeles Rams
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: on a hail Mary pass from Tony Easton for a
- 1:03:39Speaker 2: final second thirty to twenty eight win. Who caught that
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: winning touchdown pass?
- 1:03:44Speaker 3: Serving Friar?
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: That's correct.
- 1:03:46Speaker 3: Okay, these ones were not fun because like only Paul
- 1:03:49Speaker 3: and you know the answer to.
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: These, I dodn't know answer to any of them, well.
- 1:03:52Speaker 3: Or I knew were cardin Lockett.
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: Web Radio at Patriots dot com is the email address.
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: Aaron writes in from Bonnie Dune, Australia. Just wanted to
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: share a bizarre dream I had the other night involving
- 1:04:06Speaker 2: you guys.
- 1:04:06Speaker 3: Oh cut.
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: It mainly featured Mike and Evan from memory, but I'm
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: pretty sure the rest of you were there too. We
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: were all at the draft party when Washington picked May second. Overall,
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: I felt sick to my stomach and Mike and Evan
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: went absolutely nuts and started yelling and screaming at everyone
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: like the crazy end of the world preacher.
- 1:04:25Speaker 3: Did you know that reference sounds like me?
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: The season was over now, the team was ruined, and
- 1:04:32Speaker 2: the organization had sacrificed the next fifteen years for a
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: meaningless win on Christmas. It was such a strange and
- 1:04:38Speaker 2: concerning thing to dream about, as I can't decide whether
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: I want may or Daniels, and it changes depending on
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: who I listened to. In that a radio show in
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: its host would play such a major role, I guess
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: that's what happens when I have spent around fourteen days
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: total last year listening to you. Anyway, till next time,
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: Thanks for all the great content, and inside really appreciate it.
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: I can't wait for the off season topics and stay
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: out of my dreams. I should have had better things
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: going on here, but I don't.
- 1:05:08Speaker 3: Okay, get out of my dreams, get into my car.
- 1:05:11Speaker 3: I see nice that that that's a plausible scenario.
- 1:05:17Speaker 4: So Fred, Yeah, you know, the young uns don't know
- 1:05:19Speaker 4: that we often pop up in listeners dreams.
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: We have interesting It's true, and I've also shared some
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: dreams that.
- 1:05:27Speaker 3: I've yes, we don't need to get back into those, okay.
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: And then Junior from Canton says that you threw him, Evan,
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: you threw him under the bus.
- 1:05:37Speaker 3: You throw him some shade. I have no idea what
- 1:05:39Speaker 3: that means.
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: He says. I emailed in yesterday for Catch twenty two.
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: I just wanted to say that Evan really threw me
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: under the bus. While reading my comment about Jad and Daniels,
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: I realized it was a long email, but you didn't
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: communicate any of my points and made my argument against
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: him sound stupid.
- 1:05:54Speaker 3: Come so I'll try again. Wrote a column. Do you
- 1:05:57Speaker 3: how much do you want me to?
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: He'll summarize it. One six year starter who didn't pop
- 1:06:02Speaker 2: until his last year. That part when he had first
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: round receivers in Linemen that should be a red flag.
- 1:06:07Speaker 2: Burrow was the exception, not the rule. Two average arm
- 1:06:10Speaker 2: talent who avoids the middle of the field, which is
- 1:06:12Speaker 2: usually code for bad processor. Three. When Daniels uses his legs,
- 1:06:17Speaker 2: he never looks to throw, often ignoring wide open receivers
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: and four dynamic runner. But he takes hillacious hits and
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: has a small frame.
- 1:06:26Speaker 3: Well either you really watch the film where he read
- 1:06:29Speaker 3: my film review on Jaden Daniels. But yeah, those are
- 1:06:33Speaker 3: all legitimate concerns that I think everybody has with him.
- 1:06:36Speaker 3: You know, there's a lot of stats out there with
- 1:06:38Speaker 3: Jaden Daniels about how often he either scrambles or takes
- 1:06:42Speaker 3: a sack but doesn't actually make a throw right, like
- 1:06:45Speaker 3: it just in terms of when he gets pressured and
- 1:06:48Speaker 3: he's got to make a decision, his instinct is to
- 1:06:51Speaker 3: try to run or escape the sack, and ultimately he
- 1:06:55Speaker 3: either picks up yards with a scramble or he gets sacked. Right.
- 1:06:58Speaker 3: So there's a lot of concerns with those types of
- 1:07:00Speaker 3: things with Jayden Daniels, But I think ultimately, do they
- 1:07:03Speaker 3: outweigh the skill set on the strength side of things
- 1:07:06Speaker 3: so much that you are passing on him, I would
- 1:07:09Speaker 3: say no, But I understand why you would be concerned
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: about him over may or, you know, in this whole conversation,
- 1:07:17Speaker 3: But in general, I just think that the talent that
- 1:07:19Speaker 3: he does have is overwhelmingly good. So I don't think
- 1:07:23Speaker 3: that you're gonna sit there and say these are fatal
- 1:07:26Speaker 3: flaws that were passing because of this.
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: Okay. Colleen writes in about Jaden Daniel's agent We're talking
- 1:07:33Speaker 2: earlier about him liking something about not liking what the
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: commanders did. He said the agent liked the comment, saying
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: that he only tweeted the Florial video because he was
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: disagreeing with the take.
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: That's called putting the toothpaste back in the tube.
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: But he liked. He also liked the comment that was
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: saying basically, who the f cares how they interact with
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: players that won't they won't play with, and that no
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: companies do that. I think he does hate what Washington did,
- 1:08:00Speaker 2: but wanted to cover himself by liking a comment that
- 1:08:03Speaker 2: he was actually disagreeing with the take and not with
- 1:08:06Speaker 2: what Washington did.
- 1:08:09Speaker 3: He caught he quote tweeted Florio's rant about how stupid
- 1:08:13Speaker 3: it was with the thinking face emoji. How is that
- 1:08:18Speaker 3: code for I disagree with this?
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: Okay?
- 1:08:23Speaker 3: It was? It is odd.
- 1:08:24Speaker 4: Don't you think that an organization would have four guys
- 1:08:27Speaker 4: in it once at the same position?
- 1:08:28Speaker 2: It was odd, Like, Okay, you're overthinking this, You're trying
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: to be cute and do it.
- 1:08:33Speaker 4: Chris Simas made the point, it's like, you know they'll
- 1:08:35Speaker 4: never all be together again.
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: Right, Well, I think their point is who was the alpha.
- 1:08:41Speaker 3: One hundred percent like I got honey mustard. Sorry, guy,
- 1:08:46Speaker 3: get that tide pan out.
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: Yeah, what's the type?
- 1:08:49Speaker 3: I one hundred percent agree with you, Fred dan Quinn.
- 1:08:53Speaker 3: He might he was a decent coach with the Falcons,
- 1:08:55Speaker 3: and maybe he's a decent coach again with the Commanders,
- 1:08:58Speaker 3: But what a hard oh walk. He just walks around
- 1:09:01Speaker 3: with the backwards hat all the time, and now he's
- 1:09:04Speaker 3: doing this to do exactly what Fred just said.
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: I don't trust. I don't trust any grown man who
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: walks around with backward caps. I don't even like tennis
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: players who wear the cap backward deuce.
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: And I saw him in the airport in Indie on
- 1:09:16Speaker 3: the way back from the combine with a backwards hat.
- 1:09:19Speaker 3: It's not so, it's not just for show.
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: Like what are you doing? Like grow up? You know,
- 1:09:25Speaker 2: like you know your skateboard days are gone, they're behind you.
- 1:09:29Speaker 3: You're just anti backward hat? Yeah, yeah, ungrown men.
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: Like if kids want to wear an eighth grader, okay,
- 1:09:36Speaker 2: but you're a grown man, wear the cap right, it's
- 1:09:38Speaker 2: got a brim for a reason. If you don't like
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: the brim, you know, don't wear a cap. I don't
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: like it.
- 1:09:48Speaker 3: I don't like it either, but just busting the jumps, okay, Boomer.
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: He said that Ramon in Tampa has a question, when
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: did the Brady Peyton? Right, I've already really start. My
- 1:10:01Speaker 2: understanding is that Brady wasn't Brady until later in his career.
- 1:10:04Speaker 2: So when was it a must schedule in tune in
- 1:10:06Speaker 2: rivalry nor?
- 1:10:08Speaker 3: I think four? Yeah, so three was the first playoff
- 1:10:12Speaker 3: game they beat him.
- 1:10:13Speaker 4: Yeah, the Patriots beat him in three, and then you
- 1:10:16Speaker 4: know it was I think it was on at that point.
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: Yeah, and and you know it's it's fair to say
- 1:10:21Speaker 2: it was Brady Peyton, but really it was Belichick Peyton.
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: You know, it was Belichick's defenses that were giving. Wasn't
- 1:10:29Speaker 2: Peyton manning fits?
- 1:10:30Speaker 4: What was it the Patriots like beating him thirty eight
- 1:10:33Speaker 4: thirty four on a regular No, but you.
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: Know ty Law with you know, three interceptions and all,
- 1:10:39Speaker 2: and you know, in.
- 1:10:41Speaker 4: Willie's goal right in the thirty eight thirty four game,
- 1:10:44Speaker 4: that's exactly the game I was thinking.
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: Polion complaining that the defenders are you know, too handsy
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: and trying to change the roles the Polion.
- 1:10:52Speaker 3: He calls him, Okay, I just want to make sure
- 1:10:54Speaker 3: that the listeners knew who we were talking about.
- 1:10:56Speaker 4: Now, believe me, they know because this is not new.
- 1:11:00Speaker 4: But his whole thing. Poland used to call him the Patriots. Yeah,
- 1:11:04Speaker 4: he referred to him as the Patriots. So that was
- 1:11:08Speaker 4: that was Fred's wade.
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: He doesn't want to call us the correct name.
- 1:11:12Speaker 4: Oh, I do not like the person, but I respect
- 1:11:14Speaker 4: the ability. Just built three championship caliber teams.
- 1:11:19Speaker 3: Yeah, what he has. He's right about that.
- 1:11:23Speaker 4: Yeah, I just I don't like him.
- 1:11:25Speaker 3: I like him. I don't like him. I don't like him.
- 1:11:27Speaker 3: I don't like his act.
- 1:11:28Speaker 4: No, I don't know if that's really what he is
- 1:11:31Speaker 4: or if it's like some kind of tough guy act
- 1:11:33Speaker 4: that he persona that he tries to portray.
- 1:11:35Speaker 3: I don't like that.
- 1:11:36Speaker 2: I'll never forget O. Six after they beat us in
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: the AFC Championship, him running down the hallway, this is
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: our time. The Patriots had their time, this is our time.
- 1:11:48Speaker 2: And he's like yelling, and it's like it's like we
- 1:11:51Speaker 2: you know, we owned him, you know, we own space
- 1:11:54Speaker 2: in his head.
- 1:11:55Speaker 3: I feel like that when he came out, didn't he
- 1:11:58Speaker 3: come out and say that they had like a really
- 1:12:00Speaker 3: high grade on Brady in the draft.
- 1:12:02Speaker 2: Oh I think he did.
- 1:12:03Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't.
- 1:12:04Speaker 4: I don't recall him.
- 1:12:05Speaker 2: Why did you take him?
- 1:12:06Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:12:06Speaker 4: That was they had Manning.
- 1:12:07Speaker 3: But but that but that was when he officially.
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: Take him in the fifth round.
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: If he's so good, that's when he officially lost me
- 1:12:13Speaker 3: because I was like, oh, yeah, you're the one. You know,
- 1:12:15Speaker 3: you're the one that didn't you know, saw him as
- 1:12:17Speaker 3: a second round pick when everybody else thought he was
- 1:12:19Speaker 3: a Day three. See.
- 1:12:20Speaker 4: I generally that's how I feel about all those guys
- 1:12:23Speaker 4: that come out and I tell you I dismiss all
- 1:12:26Speaker 4: of it. Oh you're yeah, you you thought he was
- 1:12:28Speaker 4: better than everybody else. Oh how did his career? Oh
- 1:12:31Speaker 4: he's the best that ever played. Like if you tell
- 1:12:34Speaker 4: me that you had a higher grade on I don't
- 1:12:38Speaker 4: know Zach Robinson than anybody else.
- 1:12:41Speaker 3: Who's Zach Robinson? Yeah?
- 1:12:43Speaker 4: Okay, so now at least you being honest, like I
- 1:12:45Speaker 4: tell you right, Like I like David Terrell over Richard Seymour,
- 1:12:48Speaker 4: Like I tell you the ones that I miss just
- 1:12:50Speaker 4: as much as I tell you the ones I hit.
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: Yeah. It's it's like Peter King, you know, when he
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: was retiring from s I and talking about you know,
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: the missus he's had, and like they're these like missus
- 1:13:04Speaker 2: like anyone could have.
- 1:13:05Speaker 4: Right, Remember, like the things that he was supposed to
- 1:13:08Speaker 4: be making fun of himself were nothing that anybody would
- 1:13:11Speaker 4: be even wasting an ounce of sleepover, right, losing an
- 1:13:14Speaker 4: ounce of sleepover. Just it's not that hard to just say,
- 1:13:18Speaker 4: you get some right, you get some wrong when you
- 1:13:20Speaker 4: make when you get them wrong, Like this Adam Schefter
- 1:13:22Speaker 4: thing that was that on air or off he still eating.
- 1:13:25Speaker 3: No, we didn't talk about it now.
- 1:13:26Speaker 4: Right, No, like evidently schefter. Evan said he saw a
- 1:13:29Speaker 4: tweet from Schefter.
- 1:13:30Speaker 3: He's kind of.
- 1:13:30Speaker 4: Walking back the definitive nature of Daniels to Washington at
- 1:13:34Speaker 4: number two.
- 1:13:35Speaker 2: I was just about to reach okay, go ahead, yeah
- 1:13:37Speaker 2: uh Floyd and Redford, Michigan, even after Adam Schefter telling
- 1:13:41Speaker 2: Commander Fans that it's safe to purchase a jade and
- 1:13:43Speaker 2: Daniel Jersey, Daniel Jeremiah is personally leaning toward Washington, selecting
- 1:13:48Speaker 2: Drake May In all three of his previous mod dress
- 1:13:52Speaker 2: Jeremiah has May going number two and Daniel's going number three.
- 1:13:55Speaker 2: Conspiracy theory, is it possible that Washington is trying to
- 1:13:59Speaker 2: pull the Jason Tatum trade down. Is it possible that
- 1:14:02Speaker 2: Washington is trying to get the Patriots to trade up
- 1:14:05Speaker 2: to number two for Daniels knowing that they have preferred
- 1:14:08Speaker 2: May the whole time.
- 1:14:10Speaker 3: I don't.
- 1:14:12Speaker 4: I don't know why there has to be a conspiracy, Yeah,
- 1:14:15Speaker 4: I mean at two, when you're at two, I don't
- 1:14:17Speaker 4: know why you have to be like trying to foster
- 1:14:19Speaker 4: a conspiracy.
- 1:14:20Speaker 3: Yeah. I still just don't understand that piece of it,
- 1:14:23Speaker 3: like the commanders moving around the board now to still
- 1:14:27Speaker 3: get the quarterback that they want like the Celtics did
- 1:14:29Speaker 3: with Tatum. I just I don't really understand that. One
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: I don't see the logic is.
- 1:14:34Speaker 4: The point that they're trying to get the Patriots to
- 1:14:37Speaker 4: think that they want May. Right, So if that's it,
- 1:14:42Speaker 4: they're trying to get the Patriots think they want, they're
- 1:14:43Speaker 4: gonna take Daniels. But if the Patriots wanted Daniels, they'll
- 1:14:47Speaker 4: trade up, yeah to get.
- 1:14:50Speaker 3: Daniels or May. Yeah, same thing.
- 1:14:52Speaker 4: Like, it doesn't make any sense to me because in.
- 1:14:55Speaker 2: Other words, they think they know who the Patriots want,
- 1:14:58Speaker 2: and they want the Patriots to think in order to
- 1:15:00Speaker 2: get that have to trade up the spot.
- 1:15:03Speaker 4: But if they're willing to trade, then they don't want
- 1:15:06Speaker 4: them exactly right. That's why I just don't think it
- 1:15:09Speaker 4: works when you when it's the same guy, it doesn't work.
- 1:15:14Speaker 4: But now, if you want to tell me, I know
- 1:15:16Speaker 4: Minnesota loves Drake May, Okay, that makes sense, I'm willing.
- 1:15:21Speaker 3: I don't.
- 1:15:21Speaker 2: I don't.
- 1:15:22Speaker 4: I don't need Drake May, so I'll trade with Minnesota.
- 1:15:24Speaker 4: But that doesn't make any sense for the Patriots.
- 1:15:28Speaker 3: Daniel Jeremiah's had Drake May as his number two quarterback
- 1:15:32Speaker 3: the wire to wire, like the entire process. So I
- 1:15:35Speaker 3: think to him, he's just thinking. I don't have any
- 1:15:38Speaker 3: inside information on the Commanders necessarily, but I just can't
- 1:15:41Speaker 3: imagine that they're just going to pass on the second
- 1:15:43Speaker 3: best quarterback in the draft for no I agree.
- 1:15:47Speaker 4: And the part that I found interesting was I a
- 1:15:49Speaker 4: chefter starting to walk it back, you know, well that
- 1:15:52Speaker 4: was just my opinion. Well, no, you're telling fans that
- 1:15:56Speaker 4: they should, you know, feel safe to go buy a
- 1:15:59Speaker 4: Jayden Daniels Jersey.
- 1:16:00Speaker 2: Yeah. I's only I said this before about Schefter. When
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: he's giving his opinion, he has to be clear because
- 1:16:08Speaker 2: we all assume that we all assume that his opinion
- 1:16:12Speaker 2: is based on knowledge that he has, right, you know.
- 1:16:15Speaker 4: And but my point is when you come out and
- 1:16:18Speaker 4: you emphatically say the Patriots wouldn't trade Jimmy Garoppolo for
- 1:16:23Speaker 4: four first round picks, right, that's not your opinion, right,
- 1:16:27Speaker 4: and we understand you're only as good as the information
- 1:16:30Speaker 4: you get. I don't think that he made that up.
- 1:16:32Speaker 4: I think the Patriots said, under no circumstances we trade
- 1:16:35Speaker 4: in Garoppolo, right, and then things changed, so they you
- 1:16:40Speaker 4: know whatever. So instead of saying, like, well, it's just
- 1:16:42Speaker 4: my opinion, the same thing with this, like I have
- 1:16:46Speaker 4: no doubt that someone in Washington definitively told them they're
- 1:16:49Speaker 4: taking Daniels and now he's probably getting nervous about it. Yeah,
- 1:16:53Speaker 4: and he's trying to cover his tracks. There's no harm
- 1:16:56Speaker 4: in that. Like, no one's going to all of a
- 1:16:58Speaker 4: sudden say, well, jeez, when does Schefter get it right? No,
- 1:17:01Speaker 4: he gets it right over ninety percent of the time.
- 1:17:03Speaker 4: He's as good at that stuff as anybody.
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: Yep, Barton Poland, I know the question is more suited
- 1:17:09Speaker 2: for Barth, but I listened to Cast twenty two on demand.
- 1:17:12Speaker 2: Are we seriously saying that Penix without the injuries, is
- 1:17:16Speaker 2: a top five pick, because all the draft experts like
- 1:17:19Speaker 2: Brugler seem to be saying that he is a second
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: to third round talent on tape alone without accounting for injuries,
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: but will be probably drafted in the first.
- 1:17:28Speaker 3: Well, to be fair, Brugler, his grade isn't impacted by
- 1:17:33Speaker 3: the injuries. Yes, that's totally unfair. Yeah, so Brugler graded
- 1:17:37Speaker 3: him as like a second third round prospect with the
- 1:17:40Speaker 3: whole thing.
- 1:17:41Speaker 4: But based on his tape. But like his tape is
- 1:17:44Speaker 4: impacted by the injuries, right right, that's not fair.
- 1:17:47Speaker 3: It's not him saying based off of talent alone, Pennix
- 1:17:52Speaker 3: is a second round pick, third round pick. Now, Barth
- 1:17:55Speaker 3: is of the thinking that if the Patriots do not
- 1:17:57Speaker 3: take Pennix early, that he's gonna go in the teams
- 1:18:02Speaker 3: to one of the quarterback needy teams like the Raiders
- 1:18:05Speaker 3: or the Vikings, you know, one of those types of teams.
- 1:18:09Speaker 3: And I just push back. You know, we had a
- 1:18:12Speaker 3: classic debate that neither one of us is gonna budge
- 1:18:14Speaker 3: on and I just with the injury history, I just
- 1:18:19Speaker 3: can't imagine a team is going to take a chance
- 1:18:20Speaker 3: on a quarterback that has that kind of injury history
- 1:18:23Speaker 3: that early, you know, early second round pick is one thing,
- 1:18:26Speaker 3: but to take a guy that's had four season ending
- 1:18:29Speaker 3: injuries with the sixth overall pick if you're the New
- 1:18:32Speaker 3: York Giants is just I can't get there, Like, I
- 1:18:35Speaker 3: just can't imagine that the team would do that. So
- 1:18:37Speaker 3: we were talking about trade down scenarios, and I was saying,
- 1:18:41Speaker 3: I'd be cool with Penis being their pick if he's
- 1:18:44Speaker 3: not the first pick they make in the draft. If
- 1:18:47Speaker 3: they trade down from three to eleven with the Vikings
- 1:18:51Speaker 3: and they take Roma Dunza at eleven and then they
- 1:18:55Speaker 3: take Pennix at twenty three, then I'm cool with that,
- 1:18:58Speaker 3: but I'm not doing the reverse. And he said, well,
- 1:19:01Speaker 3: then you're not gonna get Penis, And I was like, okay,
- 1:19:04Speaker 3: I'm not sure about that.
- 1:19:05Speaker 4: You know, yeah, but you also have to be okay
- 1:19:08Speaker 4: with that. Like I like Panis, but I don't love
- 1:19:10Speaker 4: them like the other guys. Yeah, you know what I mean?
- 1:19:13Speaker 2: Yep, Anthony writes in and where is he from? Doesn't say,
- 1:19:17Speaker 2: oh Seattle. With one week remaining before the draft, I
- 1:19:20Speaker 2: wanted to throw my preference out there. I've reached the
- 1:19:23Speaker 2: point similar to deuce where I'm all in on May
- 1:19:26Speaker 2: or else trade down. If Daniels is there at three
- 1:19:29Speaker 2: and they take him, I could get myself excited about
- 1:19:31Speaker 2: the abilities. But if it was my choice, I would
- 1:19:34Speaker 2: want to trade back to six with the Giants and
- 1:19:36Speaker 2: get the extra picks. Then, assuming they take Daniels, I'll
- 1:19:40Speaker 2: take the remaining player out of allt Harrison or neighbors.
- 1:19:45Speaker 3: Okay, Okay, yeah, I mean I do think that because
- 1:19:50Speaker 3: my preference induces preference. This whole time has been May,
- 1:19:54Speaker 3: We've kind of cooled a lot of people off on
- 1:19:57Speaker 3: Jayden Daniels, like by you know, stake almost you know,
- 1:20:01Speaker 3: I I think that, you know, Jayden Daniels is a
- 1:20:05Speaker 3: is a really talented prospect, and and a lot of people,
- 1:20:08Speaker 3: you know, these consensus boards that come out or you know,
- 1:20:10Speaker 3: we pulled ten league executives and this was their rankings
- 1:20:13Speaker 3: of the quarterbacks, A lot of it has has Jayden. Two.
- 1:20:16Speaker 3: Let me ask a question, but like by micro in
- 1:20:19Speaker 3: the same tim.
- 1:20:20Speaker 2: If you were like a league executive and one of
- 1:20:24Speaker 2: these places called, would you give them the time of day?
- 1:20:29Speaker 3: Who's calling?
- 1:20:30Speaker 2: I mean, like if like like you know, Jeremy Taller
- 1:20:33Speaker 2: calls or you know, any of these people doing polls.
- 1:20:36Speaker 4: Oh, yeah, no, I would. I would call that. I would,
- 1:20:37Speaker 4: I would be I would take part in that.
- 1:20:40Speaker 2: You would?
- 1:20:40Speaker 4: Yeah, why because when I'm out of a job, it
- 1:20:43Speaker 4: helps to have those guys, Okay, trumpeting on my behalf.
- 1:20:46Speaker 4: That's not I'm sorry on my behalf.
- 1:20:48Speaker 2: Yeah. I guess that's a good point.
- 1:20:51Speaker 3: Yeah, No, I would.
- 1:20:53Speaker 2: Paul's a good guy.
- 1:20:54Speaker 4: Yeah, I wouldn't necessarily, you know, be eager to get
- 1:20:57Speaker 4: back to Paul Perillo if I you know, if I
- 1:20:59Speaker 4: was chiming in, I can't do anything for him.
- 1:21:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:21:01Speaker 4: But like those national guys when they put together their
- 1:21:05Speaker 4: you know, uh rising Star every December, you see these names,
- 1:21:09Speaker 4: and half of them, you know, if you're looking at him,
- 1:21:11Speaker 4: you don't even know who they are. Yeah, And I
- 1:21:13Speaker 4: think to myself, well, that's one of anonymous gms. That's
- 1:21:17Speaker 4: when a follow is an anonymous decision maker. Yeah, that's
- 1:21:20Speaker 4: how it works.
- 1:21:20Speaker 2: But it just seems like there's no shortage of these
- 1:21:23Speaker 2: guys willing to take part in these little off the
- 1:21:26Speaker 2: record polls and surveys, and well.
- 1:21:29Speaker 3: It is off the record, so I guess there's really
- 1:21:31Speaker 3: no threat.
- 1:21:32Speaker 2: Right, but like I'm like, yeah, I'm busy, I don't know.
- 1:21:34Speaker 3: I also really like so Bob McGain every year writes
- 1:21:39Speaker 3: like the dirt on on the prospects, like what's the
- 1:21:42Speaker 3: real dirt on some of these guys, And he's usually
- 1:21:45Speaker 3: pretty spot on, And there'll be guys that will just
- 1:21:47Speaker 3: randomly fall in the draft. On draft weekend we're all like,
- 1:21:50Speaker 3: how is this guy still on the board? Dwan Jones like,
- 1:21:53Speaker 3: how is this guy still on the board? And McGinn
- 1:21:55Speaker 3: would have had, you know, a week ago that the
- 1:21:58Speaker 3: guy you know would rather be playing basketball and doesn't
- 1:22:00Speaker 3: give a crap about football, you know, like stuff like that.
- 1:22:03Speaker 3: And so you know, there was some stuff in there
- 1:22:05Speaker 3: about my guy, Adie Mitchell being kind of a you know,
- 1:22:09Speaker 3: hot and cold in terms of his personality and you know,
- 1:22:12Speaker 3: his effort level and things like that. And Jermaine Burton,
- 1:22:15Speaker 3: one of your guys, was in there about uh, you know,
- 1:22:18Speaker 3: his off the field transgression.
- 1:22:20Speaker 2: So let's see wide receiver from Alabama. Yeah, I mentioned
- 1:22:24Speaker 2: him first.
- 1:22:25Speaker 3: Yeah, but we talked about him on the draft countdown pot.
- 1:22:28Speaker 2: But oh, okay, this is months ago. Believe me, I'm
- 1:22:31Speaker 2: the wide receiver whisperer in this room.
- 1:22:34Speaker 3: Okay, did you have last year? I forget, I forget
- 1:22:37Speaker 3: I had slave Bolden. No, but I have, I have.
- 1:22:43Speaker 2: I have a good history.
- 1:22:44Speaker 4: Of See this is this is unfortunate because I can't
- 1:22:47Speaker 4: make fun of you this year because the guy that
- 1:22:49Speaker 4: you fall in love with that has no talent actually
- 1:22:51Speaker 4: has talent.
- 1:22:51Speaker 2: And I fell in love with him.
- 1:22:53Speaker 3: Conky is a good last year. I like him.
- 1:22:56Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm I'm a little bit intrigued with Johnny Wilson.
- 1:22:59Speaker 3: I know I like that from you too, paus out
- 1:23:02Speaker 3: because of the body type.
- 1:23:03Speaker 2: But I just want to see what he can do.
- 1:23:06Speaker 3: He's I just think he'll be a tight end before
- 1:23:08Speaker 3: he's an enigma.
- 1:23:09Speaker 2: If you can catch what you call him, you can
- 1:23:12Speaker 2: call him a you know, uh, extra lineman. If he's
- 1:23:16Speaker 2: catching balls, then.
- 1:23:17Speaker 4: Well, if you were an extra alignment, I'd be interested
- 1:23:19Speaker 4: in I'm serious. If he's I'd be interested in him.
- 1:23:23Speaker 4: But I'm sure he can't wide receiver.
- 1:23:25Speaker 3: When you pull up his bio and you see six
- 1:23:27Speaker 3: six two and thirty pounds, you're thinking yourself, all right,
- 1:23:29Speaker 3: this is gonna be like Kelvin Benjamin. You know it's
- 1:23:31Speaker 3: gonna be a guy that's just gonna post heize people.
- 1:23:33Speaker 4: Another guy who was good for like two years.
- 1:23:36Speaker 3: He's nothing like that.
- 1:23:37Speaker 2: See, people are gonna think, oh, you just read that.
- 1:23:39Speaker 2: And now I remember him when BC played them, and
- 1:23:43Speaker 2: I remember seeing him in the end zone. I'm like,
- 1:23:45Speaker 2: who the hell is that guy.
- 1:23:47Speaker 3: Yeah, he's a big dude, but he can move.
- 1:23:50Speaker 4: There's something to be said for the all airport guys,
- 1:23:52Speaker 4: you know, the guys that are impressive in a suit.
- 1:23:55Speaker 3: He can move. It's saying I have never had the
- 1:23:59Speaker 3: all airport that killed me the arrival.
- 1:24:02Speaker 2: I didn't.
- 1:24:04Speaker 3: I've never heard that.
- 1:24:05Speaker 2: I'll give you your flowers.
- 1:24:06Speaker 3: Oh thank you.
- 1:24:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:24:07Speaker 3: The all airport guy in this draft, for sure isms
- 1:24:12Speaker 3: Georgia Like he comes off the bus out man and
- 1:24:15Speaker 3: you're just like, holy crap, I am not messing with
- 1:24:18Speaker 3: the quarterback today.
- 1:24:20Speaker 5: You know, I think DeAndre Sway is also an airport guy.
- 1:24:26Speaker 3: Yeah, but dev Andre's sweat also likes to drink a
- 1:24:28Speaker 3: little too much, so you know, there's some concerns though.
- 1:24:32Speaker 2: Chad in Atlanta, I could have read this vague answer incorrectly. Sorry,
- 1:24:38Speaker 2: I could have read this incorrectly. But when asked whether
- 1:24:41Speaker 2: you stay at three or move somewhere. Do you feel
- 1:24:43Speaker 2: like a quarterback has to be the pick? Elliott Will
- 1:24:45Speaker 2: said no, So it seems like they may not be
- 1:24:48Speaker 2: all in on a quarterback, even if it's in a
- 1:24:50Speaker 2: later round, which is kind of alarming but could also
- 1:24:54Speaker 2: be a smoke screen.
- 1:24:57Speaker 3: Yeah. I think that all everything that he's he's trying
- 1:25:00Speaker 3: to cast as wide to have a net as possible
- 1:25:02Speaker 3: right now so that you can't read too many tea
- 1:25:05Speaker 3: leaves about the things, and he wants.
- 1:25:06Speaker 2: To leave all options open for other teams. Yeah, you know,
- 1:25:09Speaker 2: like Dradd said, if somebody calls offering a bag, well listen.
- 1:25:14Speaker 5: Do you think they'll offer this bag like the day
- 1:25:17Speaker 5: before the draft or they'll actually wait until the.
- 1:25:20Speaker 3: Thing that's interesting is that historically speaking, those major move
- 1:25:24Speaker 3: ups would have already happened, you know, like the ones
- 1:25:28Speaker 3: like going from eleven to three, you know from Minnesota.
- 1:25:31Speaker 3: Those deals would have already happened. But I think this
- 1:25:33Speaker 3: draft is unique because of everybody's got these quarterbacks stacked differently.
- 1:25:39Speaker 3: So like if the Commanders and everybody knows that Caleb's
- 1:25:42Speaker 3: going to the Bears, but if the Commanders end up
- 1:25:44Speaker 3: taking Jaden and the Vikings really like May or they
- 1:25:47Speaker 3: end up taking May and you know, the Giants really
- 1:25:49Speaker 3: like Jaden like it.
- 1:25:50Speaker 2: But in terms of strategy though, especially in the first
- 1:25:52Speaker 2: round high if I'm the team wanting to move up
- 1:25:56Speaker 2: and I've got the bag to offer, I think I
- 1:25:59Speaker 2: wait until Draft day because if I tell them what
- 1:26:01Speaker 2: my bag is the day before, now they have time
- 1:26:03Speaker 2: to shop that around. But if I do it on
- 1:26:06Speaker 2: Draft Day, they're under the gun. And if I think
- 1:26:08Speaker 2: the bag really is an amazing offer, I want the
- 1:26:11Speaker 2: pressure on them to have to say yes.
- 1:26:13Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:26:13Speaker 3: You know.
- 1:26:14Speaker 2: So I think there's to me, there's value in if
- 1:26:17Speaker 2: I'm the team moving up waiting so that they don't.
- 1:26:21Speaker 2: They can't counter my they can't go shop it around
- 1:26:23Speaker 2: and do better.
- 1:26:24Speaker 3: I mean when the forty nine ers moved up for
- 1:26:26Speaker 3: Trey Lance, that happened like a couple weeks before the draft.
- 1:26:28Speaker 3: Elliott just talked about it, right so the BYU Pro day. Yeah,
- 1:26:32Speaker 3: So like those types of moves usually, if it's that
- 1:26:35Speaker 3: big of a jump, that usually happens before.
- 1:26:40Speaker 2: Robin the cat Skills just wondering what if, after all
- 1:26:43Speaker 2: the Patriots evaluation they really want Panix, what would their
- 1:26:47Speaker 2: draft look like? Where would they take him, and what
- 1:26:50Speaker 2: else would they need to surround him with? So then
- 1:26:54Speaker 2: that's an absolute trade down. That's how I look at yeah,
- 1:26:57Speaker 2: because you're gonna be able to get him mid first
- 1:26:59Speaker 2: round pretty much for sure.
- 1:27:01Speaker 3: You know, Yeah, I would probably try to trade down
- 1:27:04Speaker 3: with Minnesota at that point and get eleven and twenty three,
- 1:27:09Speaker 3: and then if you really have to move back up
- 1:27:11Speaker 3: from twenty three, then you just got this bag of
- 1:27:13Speaker 3: assets to maybe make a three or four pick move
- 1:27:16Speaker 3: up to move up instead of just having thirty four
- 1:27:18Speaker 3: to move up. Now you have you can move up
- 1:27:20Speaker 3: from twenty three. Whole nother pick. Yeah.
- 1:27:25Speaker 2: Kyle rights in from Pembroke. A couple questions on the
- 1:27:29Speaker 2: draft three Actually one, who do you think are the
- 1:27:33Speaker 2: best fits for the Patriots at tight end on Day three?
- 1:27:36Speaker 2: This would have to be an Evan question.
- 1:27:39Speaker 3: So the titands in this draft are a pick your
- 1:27:42Speaker 3: flavor thing.
- 1:27:44Speaker 4: After Brock Bars, I was gonna say, after Barros, when's
- 1:27:47Speaker 4: the next the next tight end could be?
- 1:27:49Speaker 3: Win?
- 1:27:50Speaker 2: Probably?
- 1:27:50Speaker 3: I would say probably third. You know, Jatavian Sanders probably
- 1:27:53Speaker 3: goes in the second round, and then you know a
- 1:27:55Speaker 3: couple guys in like the third or fourth round and
- 1:27:57Speaker 3: then late, you know, flyers late.
- 1:27:58Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't not just because the class isn't great.
- 1:28:02Speaker 4: I'm not I'm not big on tight end and like, so, okay,
- 1:28:06Speaker 4: so you take a fifth round tight end, what does
- 1:28:08Speaker 4: that mean?
- 1:28:08Speaker 2: Nothing?
- 1:28:09Speaker 3: Yeah, I think the ones that help your tight end
- 1:28:11Speaker 3: depth chart the one thing that it might help. And
- 1:28:14Speaker 3: this is why I said it was a flavor draft.
- 1:28:15Speaker 3: It's because there are there's guys that are you know,
- 1:28:18Speaker 3: Jahem Bell, Dalen Hooker, those are kind of those h back,
- 1:28:21Speaker 3: you know, move tight end types. But then there's a
- 1:28:23Speaker 3: guy like Tip Raymond who is a hand in the dirt,
- 1:28:26Speaker 3: sixth offensive lineman, like a two hundred and seventy.
- 1:28:29Speaker 2: Five, and this offense they might need that.
- 1:28:31Speaker 3: So that's where if you're looking for how could that
- 1:28:34Speaker 3: guy help, it's situationally, right, he's he's your blocking tight
- 1:28:38Speaker 3: end on the goal line, he's your third down blocking
- 1:28:40Speaker 3: tightand on third and one, you know, he's this week,
- 1:28:43Speaker 3: this game plan, we want to come out and we
- 1:28:45Speaker 3: want to run the ball. You know, he's on the
- 1:28:47Speaker 3: field to help block. So I think that some of
- 1:28:49Speaker 3: these guys that are going to be more receiving tight
- 1:28:52Speaker 3: ends later on in the draft probably don't make much
- 1:28:55Speaker 3: sense with Hunter Henry still around, but maybe a guy
- 1:28:57Speaker 3: like Tip Raymond or the A. J. Barner from Michigan.
- 1:29:01Speaker 3: Those guys are you know, six six to fifty plus,
- 1:29:04Speaker 3: you know, blocking type of guys.
- 1:29:05Speaker 4: Right, And I would just take one of those guys
- 1:29:08Speaker 4: that's a diamond dozen sitting around right now and just
- 1:29:11Speaker 4: sign him and then have him do that and not.
- 1:29:13Speaker 3: Wayte perfectly fair. I think you know Raymond to me,
- 1:29:17Speaker 3: if you want to look at like, what what could
- 1:29:19Speaker 3: he you know, Farah Brown, you know, like that type,
- 1:29:21Speaker 3: that type of guy, perfect example.
- 1:29:23Speaker 5: I wish we could have kept him, honestly.
- 1:29:24Speaker 4: Yeah, there's guys like that that are easily available. Yeah,
- 1:29:29Speaker 4: and I think you could get some depth at other
- 1:29:32Speaker 4: spots that you need, you know, in those And listen,
- 1:29:36Speaker 4: I'm not telling you like, well, you can't the fifth
- 1:29:38Speaker 4: round pick, it's so valuable, That's not what I mean.
- 1:29:41Speaker 4: I'm saying you can get offensive linemen.
- 1:29:43Speaker 3: And you know, yeah running backs in.
- 1:29:45Speaker 4: Those in those rounds, and you get a running back
- 1:29:47Speaker 4: in those rounds that that might be able to be
- 1:29:49Speaker 4: a bigger need for you.
- 1:29:51Speaker 2: Ye, are there any true free safeties that you guys
- 1:29:54Speaker 2: would like the Patriots to target.
- 1:29:57Speaker 3: There are two free safeties in this draft, which is
- 1:30:00Speaker 3: not normally the case recently because of the way a
- 1:30:03Speaker 3: college game plays nowadays. But you know, I really like
- 1:30:06Speaker 3: kayaln Bullock from USC, but he's probably gonna be a
- 1:30:09Speaker 3: Day two pick, like you're gonna have to use a
- 1:30:10Speaker 3: top one hundred to get him.
- 1:30:13Speaker 2: You know.
- 1:30:13Speaker 3: There's some other guys though, that I think could be interesting.
- 1:30:16Speaker 3: You know Taylor Demerson. I always butcher his name because
- 1:30:19Speaker 3: it's like ten syllables. He's an interesting guy too, from
- 1:30:24Speaker 3: Texas Tech. He can play the deep middle this draft.
- 1:30:27Speaker 3: You know Cam Kitchens from Miami. They this is one
- 1:30:31Speaker 3: of the few drafts in recent years that I can
- 1:30:33Speaker 3: remember where a mid round pick like Deron Harmon, third round,
- 1:30:36Speaker 3: fourth round guy. There actually are some center fielders in
- 1:30:39Speaker 3: this draft.
- 1:30:40Speaker 2: How many defensive picks do you think the Patriots will take?
- 1:30:43Speaker 2: The answers too?
- 1:30:44Speaker 3: Yeah? I was gonna say too, yeah, your answers too? Yeah?
- 1:30:47Speaker 3: Oh I like that.
- 1:30:49Speaker 4: Yeah, I wouldn't think too too many anyway.
- 1:30:52Speaker 2: But Alec writes in Elec Baldwin, No, what's Guenness? I signed?
- 1:31:00Speaker 2: Was Alec? Remember they had the friend Alec and he
- 1:31:04Speaker 2: kept saying his name.
- 1:31:06Speaker 3: I have no idea. No, all right, never mind, I
- 1:31:08Speaker 3: don't remember that one.
- 1:31:09Speaker 2: I feel like I'm oh, what was his last name?
- 1:31:11Speaker 2: He was like Alec buh Berg maybe or something like that.
- 1:31:15Speaker 2: I don't remember that anyway. A big fan of the show.
- 1:31:18Speaker 2: I'm excited the draft is finally a week away. I
- 1:31:21Speaker 2: want May. I feel like he has the most room
- 1:31:23Speaker 2: to grow. He's young, and his build and ability to
- 1:31:26Speaker 2: outweigh any other prospect. In my opinion, if the Patriots
- 1:31:29Speaker 2: do go with McCarthy, do you think they draft him
- 1:31:32Speaker 2: at three or do you see them being able to
- 1:31:34Speaker 2: move back and say six or seven and grab him.
- 1:31:36Speaker 2: I'm not opposed to it, but I just don't think
- 1:31:39Speaker 2: you can pass up on May. Also, I think Osborne
- 1:31:42Speaker 2: is an underrated signing and I see him catching six
- 1:31:45Speaker 2: to seven touchdowns this year. In the wide receiver room,
- 1:31:48Speaker 2: who do you see making the team? Taekwon needs to go.
- 1:31:53Speaker 5: I would love a world where Taekwan and you do
- 1:31:56Speaker 5: you both go, and Kashan all three of them can go,
- 1:32:02Speaker 5: And especially because if you take two wide receivers in
- 1:32:05Speaker 5: this draft, there probably are going to walk in and
- 1:32:08Speaker 5: be better than both Taekwon and Juju and Kishon Booty,
- 1:32:12Speaker 5: So I could.
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: Do without those three hotly.
- 1:32:15Speaker 3: Yeah. I think Born, Douglas and Osbourne are the only
- 1:32:20Speaker 3: guys that I look at that have roster spots. Yeah,
- 1:32:23Speaker 3: at receiver. Right now, they probably draft at least one
- 1:32:27Speaker 3: for the others in the in the hat. And you know,
- 1:32:29Speaker 3: if that one that you draft is at thirty four
- 1:32:31Speaker 3: or whatever, then he's a lock to make the team too. Yeah,
- 1:32:34Speaker 3: so now you're really only talking about maybe one or
- 1:32:36Speaker 3: two spots for Tamara's group. Yep.
- 1:32:42Speaker 2: Uh Noah lives in Pennsylvania. He says, I, like all
- 1:32:46Speaker 2: of Patriot's Nation, want a wide receiver one. AJ Brown
- 1:32:49Speaker 2: changed his profile picture to Brady on Instagram. He wants
- 1:32:52Speaker 2: to be a Patriot so bad we draft him, Brady
- 1:32:55Speaker 2: stays and we probably win at least one more ring
- 1:32:58Speaker 2: love the show and thank you for all for everything
- 1:33:01Speaker 2: you do. Excited for the draft and next season. So
- 1:33:06Speaker 2: he needs that wide.
- 1:33:07Speaker 4: They drafted AJ Brown and nineteen. I don't think they
- 1:33:12Speaker 4: would have won another title. Certainly wouldn't have meant that
- 1:33:16Speaker 4: Brady had to leave after the nineteen season.
- 1:33:18Speaker 2: Well did he say they win a title or did
- 1:33:19Speaker 2: he say that Brady wouldn't have.
- 1:33:21Speaker 4: Left, and they don't they would he but I think
- 1:33:26Speaker 4: it's definitely fair to say that Brady wouldn't have left
- 1:33:28Speaker 4: right away.
- 1:33:29Speaker 3: Yeah. I agree.
- 1:33:30Speaker 5: It'd be so exciting if someone like I don't know
- 1:33:34Speaker 5: what the Bengals would want to trade up for and
- 1:33:36Speaker 5: give T Higgins, but if we can get T Higgins
- 1:33:39Speaker 5: and solve a wide receiver one problem, I'd rather have Auk.
- 1:33:43Speaker 3: Really, it would be so exciting to me. As exciting
- 1:33:46Speaker 3: as that would be, I feel like it would be
- 1:33:48Speaker 3: more exciting to hit on it in the draft because
- 1:33:51Speaker 3: it's just like finally, like finally you took a swing
- 1:33:54Speaker 3: out of wide receiver in the draft high and he's
- 1:33:57Speaker 3: he's a J. Brown, you know, like he's Debo, he
- 1:34:00Speaker 3: is Terry McLaurin, Like he's one of those guys. I
- 1:34:02Speaker 3: just the talent is there's so much talent every year
- 1:34:06Speaker 3: that comes through at that position in the draft. Yeah,
- 1:34:09Speaker 3: And to just be one of these teams that is
- 1:34:12Speaker 3: like a blind squirrel, like trying to look around for
- 1:34:14Speaker 3: it is just so frustrating. Like it's every year there's
- 1:34:18Speaker 3: ten guys that can play in the draft, like just
- 1:34:20Speaker 3: go find one. Yep.
- 1:34:21Speaker 5: I think they have to go find one and be
- 1:34:23Speaker 5: able to develop one. The develop mint part has been
- 1:34:26Speaker 5: so difficult for whatever reason. Couldn't identify the reason today
- 1:34:29Speaker 5: for whatever reason is they can't develop one. So that's
- 1:34:33Speaker 5: that's the concern.
- 1:34:33Speaker 3: Well, yeah, I'm hopeful that with Taekwon Underwood on staff.
- 1:34:37Speaker 3: You know, he's one of those guys that's done a
- 1:34:39Speaker 3: lot of those like private like coaching type stuff. You know,
- 1:34:43Speaker 3: before he got back into full time coaching. Scott Peters
- 1:34:46Speaker 3: to their offensive line coach, another one of those guys.
- 1:34:49Speaker 3: But you know, Underwood's been one of those like footworking
- 1:34:51Speaker 3: type of people. You know, Troy Brown I think is
- 1:34:54Speaker 3: conceptually probably a very good coach, but when it came
- 1:34:57Speaker 3: to like teaching techniques and route running and stuff, you
- 1:35:00Speaker 3: one of those guys that just like understands, you know,
- 1:35:02Speaker 3: how to teach those types of movements. And I hope
- 1:35:05Speaker 3: that Underwood can do that.
- 1:35:06Speaker 2: Yep, I heard if you sign up for one of
- 1:35:09Speaker 2: his private clinics you get a free haircut. That's that's included.
- 1:35:12Speaker 3: He still has the same air cut, does it really?
- 1:35:14Speaker 3: Yeahs Fade, he still has its.
- 1:35:18Speaker 2: Jack and and Auber about developing wide receivers. He says
- 1:35:21Speaker 2: one reason the Patriots have not done a good job
- 1:35:24Speaker 2: of developing receivers is that wide receivers are commonly pre Madonna's,
- 1:35:28Speaker 2: and Belichick had no tolerance for Prima Donna's. I suspect
- 1:35:31Speaker 2: that Belichick was extra hard on wide receivers who acted
- 1:35:35Speaker 2: like Prima Donna's. Consequently, the players didn't develop because they
- 1:35:39Speaker 2: didn't get the nurturing they needed.
- 1:35:42Speaker 3: I think they didn't develop because they couldn't play.
- 1:35:44Speaker 4: Yeah, I think he I think instead, I think there's
- 1:35:50Speaker 4: some truth to what he's talking about. I think he
- 1:35:51Speaker 4: doesn't love that position. Because of that, and because of that,
- 1:35:58Speaker 4: he stays away from those kinds of guys, although you
- 1:36:01Speaker 4: know he's not afraid to bring in like chad Ocho Cinco,
- 1:36:04Speaker 4: who is as big a diva wide receiver as there ever.
- 1:36:07Speaker 3: It was right in the league.
- 1:36:08Speaker 5: I feel like you can say the same thing about
- 1:36:10Speaker 5: corners too and look at Sauce like, yeah, so, I
- 1:36:15Speaker 5: don't know, I feel but those guys are really talented.
- 1:36:17Speaker 5: Sauce is really good.
- 1:36:18Speaker 4: He likes cornerback, he brought in, he brought in Revas,
- 1:36:21Speaker 4: he brought in Gilmore, and he brought he likes the
- 1:36:24Speaker 4: he likes the corner, and he.
- 1:36:25Speaker 2: Brought in the kid from the Buccaneers mid season.
- 1:36:30Speaker 5: You have a good example, Freddie, would you bring in
- 1:36:32Speaker 5: a guy like OBJ in his prime?
- 1:36:35Speaker 3: Yeah, but is too much of a diva? I think
- 1:36:37Speaker 3: they I think I think they would have brought I
- 1:36:40Speaker 3: think like there's some exceptions to the rule, for loss
- 1:36:44Speaker 3: being one of them, you know, like, if you're that good,
- 1:36:47Speaker 3: I think he would have made exceptions to it. I
- 1:36:51Speaker 3: think corner is just simply like he knows his defense
- 1:36:54Speaker 3: is a complete without a shutdown corner, and he likes
- 1:36:57Speaker 3: that position. I think that one.
- 1:36:59Speaker 4: And I I heard someone talking about this over the weekend.
- 1:37:02Speaker 4: You know, in today's NFL, that wide receiver spot has
- 1:37:05Speaker 4: become like huge, Yeah, and I think even ten years
- 1:37:08Speaker 4: ago it wasn't that big.
- 1:37:10Speaker 3: Yeah, it's it's a premium position.
- 1:37:12Speaker 4: It's changed into a real premium spot. And I don't
- 1:37:15Speaker 4: think Bill thinks that way.
- 1:37:16Speaker 3: Yeah, a quarterback, receiver, tackle, pass rusher are now even
- 1:37:22Speaker 3: more so than corner. I would say, like the true
- 1:37:24Speaker 3: premium premium positions in the league.
- 1:37:26Speaker 2: But it's weird.
- 1:37:27Speaker 5: I feel like if I was Bill, I'm like, there's
- 1:37:28Speaker 5: no way you could look at this roster and think
- 1:37:30Speaker 5: like something isn't missing, because like when you look at
- 1:37:33Speaker 5: everyone else's tape, and every week we get into the
- 1:37:35Speaker 5: locker room and we ask the guys, you know, when
- 1:37:37Speaker 5: you're looking at the tape, like who stands out? They're
- 1:37:39Speaker 5: always picking out like Diggs justin Jefferson obj when you
- 1:37:43Speaker 5: know he was great. But if you ask the other
- 1:37:46Speaker 5: team about our locker room or who are you saying
- 1:37:49Speaker 5: right right? There's no one to say right.
- 1:37:53Speaker 2: I agree, So they're easy.
- 1:37:55Speaker 5: There's something, there's something, there's something missing. The star is missing.
- 1:38:00Speaker 2: Kings and Queens of all media and soakers and sniffers
- 1:38:03Speaker 2: of all corks. Greeting from hutch and Maine, longtime listener
- 1:38:07Speaker 2: over two decades. There you go, thank you, welcome back.
- 1:38:10Speaker 2: Just finished watching The Dynasty and I have a question.
- 1:38:14Speaker 2: What do you think would have happened if RKK had
- 1:38:17Speaker 2: kept TV twelve at quarterback instead of Belichick as the
- 1:38:20Speaker 2: head coach at the Fateful Meeting Robert described with Tommy
- 1:38:24Speaker 2: and Giselle in eighteen Would the New England Patriots have
- 1:38:27Speaker 2: won another Super Bowl? Would tom who would have replaced
- 1:38:30Speaker 2: Bill at that time? Other ripple butterfly effects throughout the universe.
- 1:38:35Speaker 2: So if he had gone with Tom and said Bill,
- 1:38:38Speaker 2: you're done at that time, what would have happened.
- 1:38:41Speaker 3: I don't know who's the coach.
- 1:38:42Speaker 2: Josh McDaniels. Was he still with them at the time, Yeah, yeah,
- 1:38:47Speaker 2: it could have been Mayo.
- 1:38:50Speaker 3: Too early, right, too early, probably McDaniels.
- 1:38:53Speaker 2: Probably McDaniels. So now or Patricia, you know Tom loves Josh,
- 1:38:58Speaker 2: so you know Josh's so.
- 1:39:01Speaker 3: Who told you Tom loves Josh.
- 1:39:03Speaker 2: I thought they got along really well together.
- 1:39:06Speaker 4: No, I don't think that they hate each other or
- 1:39:08Speaker 4: anything like that. Everyone at the end here, I'm not
- 1:39:12Speaker 4: sure that, like, I'm not sure that that was a
- 1:39:18Speaker 4: great relationship. I don't think it was like deteriorated like
- 1:39:22Speaker 4: Bill and Tom did. But I'm not sure that that
- 1:39:25Speaker 4: would have.
- 1:39:26Speaker 2: Been Like I thought that they had a good rule.
- 1:39:32Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't think that they have a bad relationship.
- 1:39:33Speaker 4: I just don't think that it's accurate to say, well,
- 1:39:36Speaker 4: Tom loves Josh. I don't necessarily think that's accurate. Okay, Anyways,
- 1:39:40Speaker 4: it would make sense some things I've heard the head coach,
- 1:39:43Speaker 4: Tom stays, now you have your offensive minded head coach,
- 1:39:48Speaker 4: you know, maybe they would win.
- 1:39:49Speaker 5: I think they could have sold that on to win.
- 1:39:51Speaker 4: Yeah, they were not gonna win anything else unless they
- 1:39:54Speaker 4: had a dramatic change in their personnel department.
- 1:39:58Speaker 2: Well that would be dramatic. Bill gone.
- 1:40:01Speaker 4: Okay, Well they haven't had a dramatic change in the
- 1:40:02Speaker 4: personnel department now when Bill's gone.
- 1:40:04Speaker 2: But Josh would be the head coach and he would
- 1:40:06Speaker 2: bring in other people.
- 1:40:07Speaker 3: Okay, maybe, I'm sure Dave Ziegler probably.
- 1:40:10Speaker 4: I was just gonna say it didn't go very well
- 1:40:12Speaker 4: when that combination was in place in Vegas.
- 1:40:15Speaker 3: To be fair, I don't think that. I think Dave
- 1:40:18Speaker 3: Ziegler kind of got an unfair shake out of that
- 1:40:20Speaker 3: whole thing in Vegas because he was so connected to Josh.
- 1:40:24Speaker 3: They were kind of a package deal. It really just
- 1:40:26Speaker 3: sounds like Josh loast locker room, and like the guys
- 1:40:28Speaker 3: just kind of hated playing for him, whereas like the
- 1:40:30Speaker 3: talent on the team was like not that bad when
- 1:40:32Speaker 3: you really look at the roster, like especially at the top.
- 1:40:34Speaker 3: I mean, they had Crosby and Adams and like, you know,
- 1:40:37Speaker 3: they had some good players.
- 1:40:38Speaker 4: Like it just now, I was told that there was
- 1:40:42Speaker 4: a big problem in that Ziegler did not want to
- 1:40:44Speaker 4: sign Jimmy and Josh insisted on that signing and that
- 1:40:49Speaker 4: you know, obviously didn't work in terms of the locker room.
- 1:40:54Speaker 4: It was described to me as the problem being Josh
- 1:41:02Speaker 4: was very tough on the players, you know, in terms
- 1:41:05Speaker 4: of evaluations, but not like it was coaching, not like
- 1:41:09Speaker 4: you know, I know this because I you know, I'm
- 1:41:12Speaker 4: arrogant and I won all these Super Bowls with New England,
- 1:41:14Speaker 4: but like when he would watch film and he'd break
- 1:41:18Speaker 4: down film and he would point out mistakes by guys,
- 1:41:21Speaker 4: and they were very put off by that. So part
- 1:41:23Speaker 4: of it is like another example of the new age
- 1:41:27Speaker 4: players with the you know, kind of an old school coach.
- 1:41:30Speaker 4: Josh comes from the Bill Tree, you know, where it
- 1:41:33Speaker 4: was Johnny Foxborough and you know could have made that pass.
- 1:41:36Speaker 3: Me and Ernie could have made that playing right.
- 1:41:39Speaker 4: So I do think that that Evan's right there was
- 1:41:45Speaker 4: part of that is on the players with the Raiders,
- 1:41:47Speaker 4: and I don't think it was an overly talented roster.
- 1:41:50Speaker 4: They had high end talent that that Josh definitely that
- 1:41:53Speaker 4: Evan just mentioned. But the quarterback thing undoes it, like
- 1:41:58Speaker 4: it undoes a.
- 1:41:58Speaker 3: Lot of things, and who knows how accurate this is,
- 1:42:01Speaker 3: but rumor has it is that Dave Ziegeler wanted to
- 1:42:04Speaker 3: trade up to the number one overall pick and take CJ. Stroud,
- 1:42:08Speaker 3: that he had an affinity in the draft for Stroud.
- 1:42:12Speaker 3: The Bears were obviously selling the pick, and he wanted
- 1:42:15Speaker 3: to make the trade up. And Josh wanted Jimmy. Wow,
- 1:42:18Speaker 3: that's at least what the Raiders people would tell.
- 1:42:21Speaker 2: Jimmy's a coach killer.
- 1:42:24Speaker 4: The Jimmy part of that I got. I'm pretty pretty
- 1:42:29Speaker 4: confident that that's true. Okay, Josh wanted Jimmy. Ziegler did
- 1:42:33Speaker 4: not want.
- 1:42:33Speaker 2: Jimmy Connor from Narragansett rites in wanted to see what
- 1:42:37Speaker 2: you guys think would be more likely. One trade up
- 1:42:40Speaker 2: from thirty four, trade down from thirty four, or trade
- 1:42:43Speaker 2: up from sixty eight.
- 1:42:44Speaker 3: I'd say trade up from thirty four.
- 1:42:46Speaker 2: Yeah, kind of my instinct too.
- 1:42:48Speaker 3: There's gonna be a run on tactical and some of
- 1:42:53Speaker 3: those really truly day one IMPAC receivers could go at
- 1:42:58Speaker 3: the end of the first round. Two. You know Texas
- 1:43:00Speaker 3: kids Brian Thomas Junior, Lad McConkey, and I could see
- 1:43:04Speaker 3: them saying, why don't we just jump up five spots
- 1:43:07Speaker 3: here and get them before the day two starts. Whatever.
- 1:43:12Speaker 4: There's more of whatever that you know in the teams
- 1:43:15Speaker 4: is going to be a run on one of those spots,
- 1:43:17Speaker 4: and whichever one it is, Patriot should go the other way,
- 1:43:20Speaker 4: trade up and get the other position.
- 1:43:21Speaker 2: Yeah right, yeah, let's see Jeffrey from Canada, right sin
- 1:43:27Speaker 2: he said seven.
- 1:43:28Speaker 3: More sleeps, blame Canada.
- 1:43:31Speaker 2: I have two questions. Give me a percentage or odds
- 1:43:35Speaker 2: that the Patriots shock us and do something completely unexpected.
- 1:43:38Speaker 2: For example, Roger Goodell goes up to the podium and says,
- 1:43:41Speaker 2: with the third pick the new woman, Patriots select Joe
- 1:43:44Speaker 2: Alt or Harrison or neighbors. Like, what would shock you?
- 1:43:48Speaker 4: That wouldn't None of that would shock me. I'm not
- 1:43:50Speaker 4: expecting it, but no neighbors would shock me. And I
- 1:43:54Speaker 4: love neighbors. But I don't think he's would shock I
- 1:43:56Speaker 4: think his point is, you're taking a non quote.
- 1:43:58Speaker 2: Yeah, it would shock me if they stay at three
- 1:44:00Speaker 2: and take and don't take a quarterback.
- 1:44:02Speaker 3: Yeah it would.
- 1:44:03Speaker 4: I mean it would surprise me. I'm not going to
- 1:44:04Speaker 4: be disingenuous. It would surprise I think they're taking a
- 1:44:06Speaker 4: quarterback at three, But I would not be shocked if
- 1:44:10Speaker 4: they don't. I would say, like a a.
- 1:44:16Speaker 3: Trade up, like a substantial one would would.
- 1:44:19Speaker 4: Shock me at three like that they're trading up and
- 1:44:21Speaker 4: they're going and get Caleb Williams.
- 1:44:23Speaker 3: Or something like that.
- 1:44:24Speaker 4: That would truly shock me.
- 1:44:25Speaker 3: So that's like so off the board for me that,
- 1:44:29Speaker 3: like I was more thinking they trade up from thirty
- 1:44:32Speaker 3: four to have like true two true first round picks,
- 1:44:36Speaker 3: like not like from thirty four to thirty one. But
- 1:44:38Speaker 3: you could see that happening. Yeah, But like I mean
- 1:44:40Speaker 3: from like thirty four to like in the teens, they're like,
- 1:44:43Speaker 3: you know, to get one of these these receivers, you know,
- 1:44:45Speaker 3: get so.
- 1:44:46Speaker 4: Then you're you're giving up a pick from next year.
- 1:44:48Speaker 3: Yeah, like giving up like a substantial haul to Yeah,
- 1:44:51Speaker 3: that would be my most.
- 1:44:53Speaker 5: Shocking thing that could happen on Draft night is Harbaugh
- 1:44:56Speaker 5: going after his guy and we getting Justin Herbert.
- 1:45:00Speaker 2: That would be just Shaka. That'd be crazy, Uh spiing
- 1:45:05Speaker 2: Fresno Fred It's Alec bug. That's what I thought.
- 1:45:08Speaker 3: Could it be that the current someone would write in
- 1:45:11Speaker 3: with that.
- 1:45:11Speaker 2: Could it be that the current regime puts so much
- 1:45:14Speaker 2: of the offensive problems on Bill that they might actually
- 1:45:17Speaker 2: discount the importance of drafting offensive talent.
- 1:45:19Speaker 3: So someone like, you know, we're fine.
- 1:45:21Speaker 4: Yeah, someone tweeted that to me because I put the
- 1:45:24Speaker 4: comment about the the NFL, like we have we feel
- 1:45:27Speaker 4: like we have NFL players in all those spots, and
- 1:45:29Speaker 4: someone's like, you know, it's hard to blame Bill for
- 1:45:32Speaker 4: all the shortcomings of the roster and then not do
- 1:45:35Speaker 4: anything about the roster, right.
- 1:45:37Speaker 3: You know, But I don't. I don't think they're not
- 1:45:39Speaker 3: doing anything about it, are they of the I don't
- 1:45:42Speaker 3: think it's necessarily blaming Bill. I think it's more blaming
- 1:45:45Speaker 3: mac Jones. Like if they they truly feel like their
- 1:45:47Speaker 3: quarterback play last year was so abysmal that they're going
- 1:45:51Speaker 3: to draft one of these quarterbacks and it's going to
- 1:45:53Speaker 3: be so much better that all of a sudden, Kendrick
- 1:45:55Speaker 3: Bourne and Pop Douglas and Hunter Henry and all these guys,
- 1:45:58Speaker 3: just would that scare you though?
- 1:46:00Speaker 2: That's what we thought from.
- 1:46:00Speaker 3: It, that's their mindset. Yeah, absolutely would too. But if
- 1:46:04Speaker 3: they think, if their mindset is more we're gonna draft
- 1:46:07Speaker 3: Drake May and we're gonna draft a big time receiver
- 1:46:10Speaker 3: and both of those guys are going to come in
- 1:46:12Speaker 3: together and elevate the entire thing, and that I think
- 1:46:15Speaker 3: is justifiable. But just thinking the quarterback is going to
- 1:46:19Speaker 3: do it alone, it's crazy.
- 1:46:20Speaker 5: Yeah, this team is more than a quarterback away from
- 1:46:22Speaker 5: being great.
- 1:46:23Speaker 2: Yep, Colleen says, I forget where in the press conference.
- 1:46:26Speaker 2: I'd have to rewatch it. But if I recall correctly,
- 1:46:29Speaker 2: at one point, when Wolfe was referencing the first pick
- 1:46:32Speaker 2: in relation to the next picks, he almost said the quarterback.
- 1:46:36Speaker 2: Maybe I'm being conspirator, conspiratorial and this didn't happen, but
- 1:46:41Speaker 2: I feel like it did, and we'll rewatch. I don't
- 1:46:45Speaker 2: recall that, but I had this ac fan blowing in
- 1:46:48Speaker 2: my head.
- 1:46:50Speaker 3: Yeah. I don't recall that part either. Yeah, yeah, I
- 1:46:53Speaker 3: mean I didn't. I didn't catch anything like that.
- 1:46:57Speaker 2: Okay. Claire writs in Hello everyone, Hello Marine, even though
- 1:47:02Speaker 2: he's not here, If Evan is there, he is. I
- 1:47:06Speaker 2: know his answer from my a clear perspective pod.
- 1:47:09Speaker 3: Would you on that? Yeah? Recently?
- 1:47:11Speaker 2: Okay, wow, but he may be able to articulate this
- 1:47:14Speaker 2: question further. Do you all believe that the Patriots would
- 1:47:18Speaker 2: have to draft differently on their other draft picks if
- 1:47:20Speaker 2: they were to take Daniels versus May. So does that
- 1:47:25Speaker 2: who they picked there dictate later drafts.
- 1:47:28Speaker 3: Yeah, Basically we talked about the type of receiver that
- 1:47:32Speaker 3: you would ideally like to pair with each quarterback, you know,
- 1:47:35Speaker 3: just in terms of skill set. That was what the
- 1:47:38Speaker 3: question was.
- 1:47:40Speaker 4: So do you do you think there would be like
- 1:47:42Speaker 4: a dramatic difference or just like the individual player.
- 1:47:45Speaker 3: I think there would be a dramatic Probably not, but
- 1:47:48Speaker 3: I do think there would be a difference. Yeah, Like
- 1:47:50Speaker 3: I think this is probably fair. A guy like Drake May,
- 1:47:53Speaker 3: you probably want that big outside X with speed that
- 1:47:56Speaker 3: has a catch radius because he's not going to be
- 1:47:58Speaker 3: pinpoint accurate all the time. So you need somebody that's
- 1:48:01Speaker 3: going to be able to make some catches, the acrobatic catches,
- 1:48:05Speaker 3: you know, catches outside his frame every once in a while.
- 1:48:07Speaker 3: With Jayden Daniels, it's all about speeding the slot, Like
- 1:48:10Speaker 3: you gotta get that Molik neighbor.
- 1:48:12Speaker 2: What about lineman type of player? You need a different
- 1:48:14Speaker 2: type of line, h you know, line for each guy.
- 1:48:18Speaker 3: I tend to think no on that one. I'm more
- 1:48:20Speaker 3: think about the receivers. And you know, with Jaden Daniels,
- 1:48:24Speaker 3: he loves to throw those slot faites like the vertical
- 1:48:26Speaker 3: routes from inside the formation. So if you don't have
- 1:48:29Speaker 3: a guy that can consistently win on that route, you know,
- 1:48:31Speaker 3: that's his route. You know, that's what he threw to
- 1:48:33Speaker 3: Thomas and neighbors probably twenty five thirty percent of the
- 1:48:36Speaker 3: time last year. So getting a guy like that, you know,
- 1:48:40Speaker 3: it doesn't necessarily need to have, you know, have the
- 1:48:42Speaker 3: largest catch rates in the world. Doesn't need to be
- 1:48:44Speaker 3: six foot three, but he needs to be able to
- 1:48:46Speaker 3: win over the top like that.
- 1:48:47Speaker 2: James Pettigrew, the most interesting Patriots fan in the world,
- 1:48:51Speaker 2: wants to know when are we having the r lads
- 1:48:53Speaker 2: argument this year?
- 1:48:55Speaker 3: It'll probably come up, Yeah, I would say, probably uh Friday, Yeah.
- 1:49:01Speaker 2: Oh, probably Tuesday. I'll bring the book and then we'll
- 1:49:04Speaker 2: somebody will say it's.
- 1:49:05Speaker 4: Our lads, our.
- 1:49:07Speaker 2: No it isn't. See he just asked, and we have
- 1:49:11Speaker 2: it Lee right sin He says, I'm really excited about
- 1:49:18Speaker 2: the draft. We've had the Bill and Tom Era and
- 1:49:21Speaker 2: how fantastic that was. We tried the veteran route with
- 1:49:25Speaker 2: the with a former MVP to find out he didn't
- 1:49:28Speaker 2: have anything left. We tried a first round pick and
- 1:49:30Speaker 2: that didn't work out. We've now got a new chapter
- 1:49:33Speaker 2: to start, and I have everything crossed for us. You've
- 1:49:37Speaker 2: talked about quarterbacks being overdrafted. I understand what was being said,
- 1:49:42Speaker 2: but it's hardly surprising. You can't sit back and wait
- 1:49:44Speaker 2: to see what's left whilst others are overpaying unless you
- 1:49:48Speaker 2: want to find the shelf bear or only damage goods left.
- 1:49:52Speaker 2: Not that I care what the Jets do, but is
- 1:49:54Speaker 2: there any history of a bad quarterback like Wilson? Seems
- 1:49:58Speaker 2: to be being that behind a veteran and then coming
- 1:50:02Speaker 2: good in the future. In other words, a guy as
- 1:50:06Speaker 2: bad as Wilson, did anybody ever resurrect themselves and have
- 1:50:10Speaker 2: a good career?
- 1:50:12Speaker 3: A really good question. Smith. Yeah, I mean, I don't
- 1:50:17Speaker 3: know if he was as bad. I mean, I think
- 1:50:19Speaker 3: I think that's a good Uh. He's right now as
- 1:50:22Speaker 3: the poster child for flamed out early, came back years
- 1:50:26Speaker 3: later and thrived.
- 1:50:30Speaker 5: I guess probably not as bad as Wilson. But I
- 1:50:31Speaker 5: was going to say Baker Mayfield in terms of like, yeah,
- 1:50:35Speaker 5: a little bit surprising to see that he's I.
- 1:50:36Speaker 4: Mean, I would say that his best year was in
- 1:50:39Speaker 4: Cleveland still, but I really thought it was better than
- 1:50:41Speaker 4: last year.
- 1:50:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:50:42Speaker 3: I think last year he was so overblown it was ridiculous.
- 1:50:46Speaker 2: He's just sticking to a tape.
- 1:50:47Speaker 3: I thought he's really good. Yeah, I'll say this. I'll
- 1:50:51Speaker 3: say this. I thought he was really good. Good for
- 1:50:53Speaker 3: the league. I thought he was I thought he was
- 1:50:55Speaker 3: really good in the playoffs.
- 1:50:56Speaker 4: Does that count? Yeah, yeah, I think he I thought
- 1:50:59Speaker 4: he was really good in the playoff games. I don't
- 1:51:01Speaker 4: think he played like that during the season. Okay, I mean,
- 1:51:04Speaker 4: I mean they were a five hundred team.
- 1:51:06Speaker 3: Fred like it is what it is. He did well,
- 1:51:09Speaker 3: they want a terrible division. They were better with Baker
- 1:51:11Speaker 3: than they were with Brady the year before.
- 1:51:13Speaker 4: I would say the same, but their record was better.
- 1:51:16Speaker 3: They sucked.
- 1:51:16Speaker 4: Yeah, the division was worse Okay, Baker Bay. But that's
- 1:51:21Speaker 4: why I you know, Fred actually agreed with just another
- 1:51:24Speaker 4: adda of boy I got. I want no part of Brady,
- 1:51:27Speaker 4: like this whole like coming back thing.
- 1:51:29Speaker 3: So I heard you on with Beatle and Matt McCarthy,
- 1:51:31Speaker 3: who was a f thought that I like fell Melody
- 1:51:34Speaker 3: Fellow bomber by the way, Matt McCarthy, Oh yeah, yeah,
- 1:51:37Speaker 3: we went to all went to Ithaca together. But when
- 1:51:40Speaker 3: they like jumped down your throat about that. I I
- 1:51:42Speaker 3: was team ball. I was like, this is this is crazy.
- 1:51:45Speaker 4: They don't understand, like they want to be snark which,
- 1:51:47Speaker 4: you know, far be it for me to criticize someone
- 1:51:49Speaker 4: for being snarky. But they don't like understand the point,
- 1:51:52Speaker 4: Like they're like, oh, why would we want to win games?
- 1:51:54Speaker 4: I'm like, it's not necessarily about the record. Is your
- 1:51:58Speaker 4: team getting any closer to we wanted to be?
- 1:52:00Speaker 3: They'd be twenty nineteen at best.
- 1:52:02Speaker 4: And I just said to him, like, in twenty one,
- 1:52:05Speaker 4: you had a football season. You won ten games, which
- 1:52:09Speaker 4: is your holy grail. Evidently all of a sudden, ten
- 1:52:12Speaker 4: wins so we can get to the wildcard game. How
- 1:52:15Speaker 4: did that work for the overall development of the team.
- 1:52:18Speaker 4: It didn't help you to sign seventeen high priced free
- 1:52:22Speaker 4: agents and win some games. Oh it's nott better to
- 1:52:25Speaker 4: win games than lose them.
- 1:52:26Speaker 3: Oh you know, because we.
- 1:52:28Speaker 4: Got to be all snarky about it and not understand. No,
- 1:52:31Speaker 4: it was not the best interest in the team. It
- 1:52:33Speaker 4: didn't help it. You weren't building, and the same kind
- 1:52:36Speaker 4: of thing would happen if you signed Brady. I have
- 1:52:38Speaker 4: no doubt that you would win more games right now,
- 1:52:40Speaker 4: Brady off his couch, and then they would otherwise.
- 1:52:43Speaker 2: It'd be good for ratings that season.
- 1:52:45Speaker 3: And all well, I think that you said it, Paul
- 1:52:47Speaker 3: directly to them, and I know that they tried to
- 1:52:49Speaker 3: dance around it. But the reason why they want Brady
- 1:52:52Speaker 3: to come back is for their show. Let's face it.
- 1:52:54Speaker 4: Oh, I busted Fegus chops on that big time. It
- 1:52:57Speaker 4: would be credible for us. Brady came back.
- 1:53:01Speaker 3: No one's denying that he comes back for Week one
- 1:53:03Speaker 3: last year, and it was incredible for us as the
- 1:53:06Speaker 3: COVID year.
- 1:53:06Speaker 4: By the way, Baker Mayfield twenty six and eight, that
- 1:53:09Speaker 4: was his best year, oh better than last year.
- 1:53:11Speaker 3: But no fans in the stands, please, what does that
- 1:53:13Speaker 3: have to do with anything? He still had to play.
- 1:53:15Speaker 2: It's good quarterback.
- 1:53:16Speaker 4: You sound like Greg Badard, like dismissing Josh Allen because
- 1:53:19Speaker 4: he only did it with COVID, Like it's the dumbest
- 1:53:21Speaker 4: thing I've ever heard, heard, the dumbest thing I heard then,
- 1:53:23Speaker 4: and you just reupted.
- 1:53:25Speaker 3: I appreciate Greg's dedication to the Josh Allen take because
- 1:53:28Speaker 3: he was not a Josh Allen guy to begin with,
- 1:53:31Speaker 3: and even though a gunk guy, even though Josh, even
- 1:53:34Speaker 3: though Josh Allen's now like an MVP.
- 1:53:38Speaker 2: Receipts.
- 1:53:39Speaker 4: There's a way to be like right and wrong, Like
- 1:53:43Speaker 4: can you just say, like, oh, you know what, I
- 1:53:46Speaker 4: don't Paul's wrong the right way?
- 1:53:48Speaker 11: No.
- 1:53:48Speaker 4: No, but like can you just say, I don't think
- 1:53:49Speaker 4: Rob Gronkowski, I don't really understand all the hype about it.
- 1:53:52Speaker 4: Don't see the hype at period all period. Like, so
- 1:53:57Speaker 4: I'm sorry when that guy turns out to be the
- 1:53:58Speaker 4: greatest tight end who's ever played, you deserve to have
- 1:54:01Speaker 4: it thrown back in your period.
- 1:54:02Speaker 3: Were period? Wrong period? And he gets really mad if
- 1:54:05Speaker 3: you point.
- 1:54:06Speaker 2: That out to right Oh god, the thin skin. Oh
- 1:54:09Speaker 2: you believe me.
- 1:54:10Speaker 3: He's been mad at me before. I'm sure he's probably
- 1:54:11Speaker 3: mad at me right now listening. Well, he h. I've
- 1:54:15Speaker 3: had some people that are telling me preemptively that when
- 1:54:19Speaker 3: Drake May is a bust, that I'm never going to
- 1:54:21Speaker 3: hear the end of it because I've been so pro
- 1:54:23Speaker 3: Drake made this entire time, and I'm just like, if
- 1:54:25Speaker 3: Drake May is a bus, I'll own it that I
- 1:54:26Speaker 3: was wrong, Like I don't understand what the big deal is,
- 1:54:29Speaker 3: like you get some, you win some, you lose him.
- 1:54:31Speaker 3: Like I think he's gonna be a good player, you don't.
- 1:54:33Speaker 5: There go this time three years ago, Evan, where were
- 1:54:36Speaker 5: you on Mac Jones?
- 1:54:37Speaker 3: So we were talking about this the other day. I
- 1:54:40Speaker 3: flip flopped on Mac Jones after the Patriots drafted him.
- 1:54:42Speaker 3: I felt I took the cheese and I I took
- 1:54:45Speaker 3: the cheese with him. But going into the draft, I
- 1:54:47Speaker 3: had him as the fifth quarterback in the draft, so
- 1:54:50Speaker 3: I had it. I want to say, I had Lawrence Fields,
- 1:54:54Speaker 3: Lance Wilson Mack is how I had it that year.
- 1:54:58Speaker 3: And I really like Justin and I was I was
- 1:55:01Speaker 3: also pretty wrong about that.
- 1:55:02Speaker 4: I liked Justin Fields too when I was wrong about it,
- 1:55:04Speaker 4: But I similarly had Mac number five out of those five.
- 1:55:07Speaker 3: Yeah, I really like Justin Fields. I was the guy
- 1:55:09Speaker 3: that I wanted the Patriots to end up with in
- 1:55:11Speaker 3: that draft, and I wasn't as big on Mac and
- 1:55:17Speaker 3: then they drafted him, and then I was like, Okay,
- 1:55:19Speaker 3: well maybe it'll work out.
- 1:55:21Speaker 2: I was pleased that he was our quarterback at the time.
- 1:55:24Speaker 4: I believe you used that very line that.
- 1:55:26Speaker 2: Very pleased that Mac Jones is our quarterback.
- 1:55:28Speaker 3: And I wanted to throw up he can play quarterback.
- 1:55:31Speaker 2: But the only guy, I really, the only guy, the
- 1:55:34Speaker 2: only guy I loved in that draft was Trevor Lawrence. Oh,
- 1:55:37Speaker 2: and I got killed by fans after we drafted that early. Fred,
- 1:55:41Speaker 2: would you take Trevor Lawrence? Now?
- 1:55:43Speaker 3: Yes, absolutely? And then when Fred said yes, they killed
- 1:55:46Speaker 3: him even worse.
- 1:55:46Speaker 2: Even after that first season when Mac had a better
- 1:55:49Speaker 2: rookie season, right, I still would have taken.
- 1:55:51Speaker 3: And he was bad as rookie season, but you could
- 1:55:54Speaker 3: just you just know. The funniest the funniest thing about
- 1:55:57Speaker 3: Max's rookie season, and I still remember this to the day,
- 1:56:00Speaker 3: is people writing that it was one of the greatest
- 1:56:04Speaker 3: rookie seasons in the history of the NFL because like
- 1:56:07Speaker 3: his completion percentage was like really really high or something
- 1:56:10Speaker 3: like that.
- 1:56:11Speaker 2: He didn't throw into the end zone until like week four.
- 1:56:13Speaker 3: Yeah, I was like, did we watch he He did
- 1:56:16Speaker 3: his job that year, There's no doubt about it.
- 1:56:18Speaker 4: It's like the McCarthy stuff, Like they never won a
- 1:56:20Speaker 4: single one of those ten games because of Mac Jones.
- 1:56:25Speaker 3: You know, they actually the games that he played the
- 1:56:27Speaker 3: best and were probably the games that they lost that year,
- 1:56:30Speaker 3: like Tampa. Yeah, Tampa.
- 1:56:32Speaker 4: Like you know, I know he threw the pick six
- 1:56:33Speaker 4: against Dallas, but I think the dollas, I think the response.
- 1:56:35Speaker 4: I mean, even though I thought that was a fluky
- 1:56:37Speaker 4: but whatever, he played well with Dallas.
- 1:56:40Speaker 2: Those parents that they're in the mall with their kid
- 1:56:42Speaker 2: and they have leash on the kid and all the
- 1:56:44Speaker 2: kids so well behaved. He's got. It's like Mac had
- 1:56:48Speaker 2: such a great they managed the hell out of him.
- 1:56:52Speaker 3: Analogy the governor. His best game as a Patriot was
- 1:56:57Speaker 3: probably Buffalo last year, but his his best game is
- 1:57:00Speaker 3: rookieyear was against Cleveland. They tore Yes, no doubt.
- 1:57:05Speaker 2: That was like everybody had career games like that. One
- 1:57:08Speaker 2: tikwon Thornton.
- 1:57:09Speaker 3: Yeah, that was the next game. That was a bay.
- 1:57:13Speaker 3: That was a bailey.
- 1:57:14Speaker 5: Baker was playing with like half a shoulder in that game.
- 1:57:17Speaker 3: No, I mean, yeah right, yeah, yeah, but he was
- 1:57:20Speaker 3: great in that game. The throw he made to Kendrick
- 1:57:23Speaker 3: boring up the scene to that game was the best
- 1:57:25Speaker 3: we ever made.
- 1:57:25Speaker 4: So I know the exact player you're talking about. That
- 1:57:27Speaker 4: was also one Hunter Henry in that game. That wasn't
- 1:57:29Speaker 4: a touchdown, but it was a great throw. And I
- 1:57:31Speaker 4: remember the post game show was like we started the
- 1:57:34Speaker 4: good and bad. I was like, Mac Jobs, this is
- 1:57:36Speaker 4: the guy that you guys have been telling me he
- 1:57:37Speaker 4: has been playing all year. This is this is why
- 1:57:40Speaker 4: I don't go, I go. I don't gotch about it
- 1:57:42Speaker 4: because this was different. Now you see what what elite
- 1:57:45Speaker 4: play is as opposed to run of the mill play.
- 1:57:48Speaker 4: There's a difference. I was like, so like over the
- 1:57:50Speaker 4: top he was Evans right, he was great that day?
- 1:57:54Speaker 4: He was he and then he never did.
- 1:57:55Speaker 3: There was there was a timeline that he could have
- 1:57:58Speaker 3: been a good quarterback here. We just do not live
- 1:58:01Speaker 3: in that universe, but there was a way.
- 1:58:05Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, that's gonna be it for this edition
