- 0:09Speaker 1: Inside the Birds is back. What's going on everybody? It's
- 0:15Speaker 1: Jeff Moser, Adam Kaplan and of course from Inside the
- 0:18Speaker 1: Birds dot com rock in that fresh cut is Andrew
- 0:22Speaker 1: to check. Oh good time for a haircut, very nice
- 0:25Speaker 1: warm weather out. And Andrew, of course, was our eyes
- 0:28Speaker 1: and ears at the second ot A for the Philadelphia Eagles.
- 0:32Speaker 1: It was on Tuesday, and uh, Andrew's gonna wrap it
- 0:37Speaker 1: up and let us know what he saw, what go inside,
- 0:39Speaker 1: some of the things that might have been different from
- 0:41Speaker 1: last week's OTA. So we'll get into all that. But obviously, Andrew,
- 0:44Speaker 1: it's the first OTA literally a day after AJ Brown
- 0:48Speaker 1: gets traded. So I do wonder, I know, you talk
- 0:50Speaker 1: to a bunch of players after have have they moved
- 0:54Speaker 1: on like mentally like most people have, or what was
- 0:56Speaker 1: kind of the reaction of some of the players.
- 1:00Speaker 2: It's a business. I think DeVante Smith put it best.
- 1:02Speaker 2: He said business is business, and Quinya Mitchell said the
- 1:06Speaker 2: same thing. But I think what Quinyon said was really
- 1:08Speaker 2: notable about how Aj sort of helped build his confidence
- 1:12Speaker 2: early on as a rookie. If you remember back to
- 1:14Speaker 2: those training camp practices, they were going head to head
- 1:17Speaker 2: Mono Imano, and you would struggle to find a player,
- 1:21Speaker 2: Jeff frankly that that's going to say something negative about AJ.
- 1:25Speaker 2: In fact, they go the extra mile to heap some
- 1:29Speaker 2: praise on him and the impact that he's had on
- 1:31Speaker 2: the on the organization and them themselves.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Yeah, you know what, I know. Some people have tried
- 1:35Speaker 1: to equate the A. J. Brown situation Adam to the
- 1:38Speaker 1: Too situation you and I lived through. Yeah, it's not
- 1:42Speaker 1: to me, it's not the same. Too certainly had proponents,
- 1:46Speaker 1: but he divided the locker. There were people who didn't
- 1:49Speaker 1: like his antics, wish he would have stopped doing what
- 1:51Speaker 1: he was doing, felt that it was taking away from
- 1:53Speaker 1: the team. He of course had some people who were
- 1:55Speaker 1: in his corner, but it was divided. It was pulling
- 2:00Speaker 1: like that. This was not a This is not a
- 2:02Speaker 1: divided lock.
- 2:03Speaker 2: Not not even close.
- 2:05Speaker 3: The fact that hearing from agents who have players on
- 2:08Speaker 3: the Eagles, a lot of them all spoke. Because you
- 2:11Speaker 3: and I, Jeff, have gotten feedback over the years. Man,
- 2:13Speaker 3: we find out if if the players not what liked,
- 2:15Speaker 3: very well liked. Now you can debate and which is
- 2:18Speaker 3: true his use of social media in the correct way.
- 2:22Speaker 4: Sometimes when he's frustrated. Didn't help, didn't revite anything, but
- 2:25Speaker 4: it didn't help certainly.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Right Whether I wasn't trying to say he was the
- 2:30Speaker 1: perfect team man was you might have like a friction
- 2:33Speaker 1: going on that you.
- 2:33Speaker 3: Have, but as being a mentor to younger players, I
- 2:37Speaker 3: was told, good with that really connective.
- 2:39Speaker 4: He's very connective. Like that's a big thing.
- 2:41Speaker 3: But anyway, by the way, listen to Andrews Daily to
- 2:44Speaker 3: check O yesterday when he did his retrospective of covering
- 2:49Speaker 3: Agent brown Water, was like, to cover that's that's a
- 2:50Speaker 3: cool story. Was like you and I covered t O
- 2:54Speaker 3: Jeff decades ago. That was your you were the that
- 2:57Speaker 3: was your first year on the beat.
- 2:59Speaker 1: Yet so two thousand and five was actually I was
- 3:02Speaker 1: a GA and then two thousand and six I was
- 3:04Speaker 1: the beat, but I was around because I live in
- 3:06Speaker 1: South Jersey. They sent me to all the t O
- 3:09Speaker 1: Drew h Drew Rosenhaus and not the not the sit
- 3:13Speaker 1: ups push ups that was before me, but more than
- 3:16Speaker 1: the next question press conference. Okay, Yeah, when he got
- 3:19Speaker 1: kicked off the team, remember a lot of people forgot
- 3:22Speaker 1: that year to went on an ESPN show Sports Center
- 3:25Speaker 1: and somebody asked him if he thought the team would
- 3:29Speaker 1: be because Eagles got off to a bad start that year,
- 3:31Speaker 1: if the team would be better off if Brett Farva
- 3:33Speaker 1: was the quarterback, which was a total leading the Witness
- 3:36Speaker 1: Year honor question, And of course THEO took it like
- 3:39Speaker 1: almost like he scripted the question himself, and he was, yeah, probably,
- 3:43Speaker 1: and then that was it. That was like the ultimate
- 3:46Speaker 1: year off the team, You're done and yeah, but yeah, no,
- 3:49Speaker 1: we didn't have that situation with aj Brown here. It's
- 3:51Speaker 1: just a totally different one. All right, So let's get
- 3:54Speaker 1: into the ota. Uh Andrew first, we got to get
- 3:58Speaker 1: and everybody can read Andrew's stuff on on inside the
- 4:03Speaker 1: Birds dot Com, who have even more thorough right up,
- 4:06Speaker 1: it's on as we speak, it's already on the website.
- 4:08Speaker 1: But who was not present at the voluntary camp?
- 4:13Speaker 2: Lane Johnson, Fred Johnson, Holland, Pierce, Joe Tryon Show, Yanka
- 4:18Speaker 2: and Jay when Carter Okay, and then.
- 4:22Speaker 4: A couple of guys not practicing right there were right, So.
- 4:25Speaker 2: That would be Makay, Lemon, Britton, Covey, Tucker, Large, Darius
- 4:30Speaker 2: Cooper went through individuals, but I didn't see him participating
- 4:33Speaker 2: seven on seven or eleven on eleven's and then it
- 4:36Speaker 2: would be Carson Steele who had a sleep right leg. Okay,
- 4:42Speaker 2: and I'm trying to think who else here? Yeah, those those,
- 4:46Speaker 2: those are the players.
- 4:48Speaker 4: Okay.
- 4:48Speaker 3: I want to add this, this is interesting. This guy
- 4:51Speaker 3: is a terrific fit for this offense. Not that he's
- 4:53Speaker 3: gonna make it, but Elijah Mitchell was attitude with roster.
- 4:57Speaker 3: Lijah Mitchell was drifted specifically for the West Coast scheme
- 5:00Speaker 3: and zone running, which the ego is going to move to.
- 5:04Speaker 3: I remember talking to the Niners about him. He just had
- 5:07Speaker 3: terrible injury history. Okay, terrible, but they tried. They tied
- 5:12Speaker 3: Davis Price in here. Yeah, chry Derman, I don't know
- 5:15Speaker 3: what it is with Jeff with the and Andrew with
- 5:17Speaker 3: these form nine.
- 5:18Speaker 4: I don't know what their obsession was with it. But
- 5:21Speaker 4: this guy is a specific fit for the scheme.
- 5:24Speaker 3: Oh.
- 5:24Speaker 2: I should also mention guys that Jahi Campbell was present
- 5:27Speaker 2: but did not participate.
- 5:29Speaker 1: Okay, and he's still coming back from the shoulder surgery.
- 5:33Speaker 1: By the way, on Elijah Mitchell, he has not had
- 5:36Speaker 1: to carry since the twenty twenty three Super Bowl, which
- 5:41Speaker 1: was between the Niners in Kansas City, So that's been
- 5:44Speaker 1: quite a while. As Adam said about the injury, it's
- 5:47Speaker 1: been he's a I mean, let's be fair, he's a
- 5:49Speaker 1: camp body here. I mean maybe he can unsee Damian
- 5:53Speaker 1: Pierce for a practice squad or maybe they're both on it,
- 5:55Speaker 1: but camp body at the moment, exactly.
- 5:58Speaker 2: Yeah, they were really light on running backs, by the way,
- 6:00Speaker 2: depending on whatever the case is with Carson Steele, they
- 6:02Speaker 2: still only have Damian Pierce and the three running backs
- 6:06Speaker 2: who were all expecting to make the roster, So it
- 6:08Speaker 2: makes some sense just to handle some of the preseason work.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Did you catch any intel on why, like McKay Lemon
- 6:14Speaker 1: or anybody else was there?
- 6:15Speaker 4: But not?
- 6:16Speaker 2: Yeah, so Makai Lemon, actually Quinya Mitchell tipped this off
- 6:19Speaker 2: after practice. He mentioned that it was a hamstring injury.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Oh okay, so that's why I was.
- 6:26Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:26Speaker 1: I mean, I know they're voluntary, I know it's otias,
- 6:28Speaker 1: but it's kind of a bummer when rookies suffer injuries
- 6:31Speaker 1: and don't get ah, don't get remember Andrew mccouba last
- 6:34Speaker 1: training camp had the shoulder thing and then you had
- 6:36Speaker 1: something else and I was like, damn, you want to
- 6:38Speaker 1: see this guy get on yeah the hamstring.
- 6:40Speaker 4: Yeah, all right, cool cool?
- 6:42Speaker 1: Uh so let's get into it. I mean, I think
- 6:45Speaker 1: the big conversation from week one of Otia's was how
- 6:47Speaker 1: much you got to see some of that under center
- 6:51Speaker 1: motion zone blocking things. What any what were your biggest
- 6:55Speaker 1: bigger takeaways from this one.
- 6:57Speaker 2: Let's yeah, yeah, quite a bit of under center work,
- 6:59Speaker 2: especially during team drills. I thought that they went a
- 7:02Speaker 2: little bit more heavy tight end usage, and makes sense
- 7:05Speaker 2: if you don't have Makay Lemon and Darius Cooper didn't participate.
- 7:08Speaker 2: I saw a lot of Johnny Munt working in EJ
- 7:11Speaker 2: Jenkins got in early on seven on sevens caught a
- 7:14Speaker 2: really nice pass down the scene from Andy Dalton, who
- 7:17Speaker 2: was really sharp today, by the way, and that would
- 7:20Speaker 2: be my primary takeaway. I thought the offense there were
- 7:23Speaker 2: moments where they had the defense on their heels. You
- 7:25Speaker 2: don't often see that from a FIC Fangio defense. So,
- 7:28Speaker 2: I mean, I'm sure we'll get into it, but that
- 7:30Speaker 2: was some of my notable takeaways. I thought the offense
- 7:33Speaker 2: was able to sort of gets get things going, particularly
- 7:36Speaker 2: Jalen Hurtz and Andy Dalton. Tanner McKee guys was working
- 7:40Speaker 2: with the third unit on this particular day.
- 7:43Speaker 4: Yeah, and they've been switching off.
- 7:44Speaker 3: And also you understand seven on seven looks like flag football. Yeah,
- 7:48Speaker 3: these are passing camps. Okay, that's but because this is
- 7:52Speaker 3: an instant, this is a brand new offense they've never
- 7:54Speaker 3: run before. And Andrew's right, Look, it's surprising. What if
- 7:59Speaker 3: the offense looks better defense, But overall, it would be stunning.
- 8:03Speaker 3: Through Now, we're the media doesn't get much access to
- 8:05Speaker 3: these ots anymore.
- 8:06Speaker 4: They just don't. That's the way it is.
- 8:09Speaker 3: But it would be stunning if we hear that the
- 8:11Speaker 3: offense dominated ots overall, I'd be shocked because this is
- 8:16Speaker 3: a total sea change.
- 8:17Speaker 4: They've not run anything like this in so many years.
- 8:19Speaker 1: Right, right, I also did did They may either talk
- 8:22Speaker 1: about it or in your observations the fact that they
- 8:24Speaker 1: were outside as opposed to last week when you had
- 8:27Speaker 1: to be inside. I just I always felt like inside
- 8:29Speaker 1: it's congested, it's it's tough to get any kind of
- 8:32Speaker 1: rhythm going, and then outside it feels like more natural,
- 8:34Speaker 1: you know.
- 8:35Speaker 2: Yeah, the most remarkable thing was trying to fit ninety
- 8:38Speaker 2: players inside that practice bubble. Whereas you get on the
- 8:40Speaker 2: field and things are opened up a lot more to
- 8:42Speaker 2: your point, Jeff.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, ninety people inside that bubble, which is an
- 8:46Speaker 1: outdated bubble that supposedly was was going to be replaced
- 8:50Speaker 1: years ago but never has been.
- 8:52Speaker 4: It's crazy.
- 8:53Speaker 1: How about the new guy to Samori? Is it Samari Tori?
- 8:57Speaker 1: Did I pronounce it right at him?
- 8:58Speaker 4: Yes, Samori Tour. Was he with the Eagles yet?
- 9:02Speaker 2: Yes, he's wearing number forty six. He caught a nice
- 9:04Speaker 2: pass along the sideline and a tight window throw from
- 9:07Speaker 2: Andy Dalton, and apart from that, there wasn't really anything
- 9:11Speaker 2: notable that he did. But he obviously has an uphill
- 9:13Speaker 2: climb to make a dent here, so we'll see. He
- 9:17Speaker 2: knows this. He's somewhat familiar with Sean mann In he
- 9:20Speaker 2: was there in twenty twenty four for a brief period,
- 9:23Speaker 2: didn't make the roster, so there's some familiarity there.
- 9:26Speaker 3: It's the West Coast system, that's why he's here, so
- 9:29Speaker 3: it's it's a good move. He's kind of bounced around
- 9:32Speaker 3: a little bit. There was a I know the Packers
- 9:35Speaker 3: were very high on him early in his career. He
- 9:37Speaker 3: just he just never took advantage of the injury situations
- 9:42Speaker 3: and they moved on from him.
- 9:43Speaker 4: But yeah, to me, he's just he's here.
- 9:45Speaker 3: It's kind of like it's kind of like he knows
- 9:48Speaker 3: the scheme somewhat and he's here to run to help
- 9:53Speaker 3: everybody else sort of in a way because he could
- 9:55Speaker 3: he could answer questions kind of like.
- 9:57Speaker 4: Will Greer, Remember when Will g Yeah, yeah, sure, create
- 10:00Speaker 4: the same way.
- 10:01Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, but he's not making the team. It's just
- 10:04Speaker 3: it's now practice squad. It's be a perfect guy because
- 10:07Speaker 3: he knows the system, right.
- 10:10Speaker 1: Does he have a little juice? Is he kind of
- 10:11Speaker 1: a guy who can return punts or kicks or anything
- 10:14Speaker 1: like that? I barely remember him as an NFL player,
- 10:17Speaker 1: all right.
- 10:18Speaker 2: I think he's maybe a four or four guy, but
- 10:20Speaker 2: I'm not sure if he factors into the return game.
- 10:22Speaker 2: I guess we'll learn more as you get to training camp.
- 10:24Speaker 4: The pats come on.
- 10:25Speaker 2: You can kind of get a bare feel for it.
- 10:27Speaker 4: Well, if he makes it that far, yeah, if he
- 10:29Speaker 4: makes it, that's another valid point.
- 10:31Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, So Andrew, I assume things are practices.
- 10:37Speaker 1: Is structured typical ones verse ones?
- 10:39Speaker 4: In? Yes?
- 10:42Speaker 2: Yeah, today was today was all ones verse ones, twos,
- 10:45Speaker 2: verse twos and threes verse threes, in training camp. As
- 10:48Speaker 2: you guys know. Sometimes though they'll kind of mix it
- 10:50Speaker 2: up a little bit to give you some different looks,
- 10:52Speaker 2: but today was really true to four.
- 10:54Speaker 1: Okay, so uh right tackle, well, Lane Johnson, we're still
- 10:58Speaker 1: seeing Mark Hilbell at right time.
- 11:00Speaker 2: Mark Albell, Yes he was, and I it's not as
- 11:03Speaker 2: notable this time because Fred Johnson wasn't there, so there
- 11:06Speaker 2: really isn't anyone else who would contend for that. But
- 11:09Speaker 2: he's getting a lot of valuable, you know, valuable work
- 11:11Speaker 2: early in his young career.
- 11:13Speaker 3: Well, I would say you, Cam Williams, it's interesting. Now
- 11:16Speaker 3: this is where I want to see what happens Andrew
- 11:17Speaker 3: when we get to training camp because Cam Williams, I
- 11:20Speaker 3: know he got a little bit of the twos over
- 11:22Speaker 3: the couple of days the Meetia was there. But yeah, sure,
- 11:27Speaker 3: I see why they're doing this. They want to They
- 11:28Speaker 3: want to take a look and see where Mark cal
- 11:30Speaker 3: Bell is. This is a perfect opportunity to see where
- 11:32Speaker 3: he's at, how much he could learn. They got to
- 11:35Speaker 3: because their hope is over time he'll be the backup
- 11:38Speaker 3: right tackle. Then maybe someday, just maybe that he'll be
- 11:40Speaker 3: the replacement for Lane Johnson. So you might as well
- 11:42Speaker 3: start gettingn idea of where he's at.
- 11:44Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Absolutely, I know in the first tier Andrew Cameron Williams
- 11:50Speaker 1: was third team right tackle. We noted that the right
- 11:53Speaker 1: guard was Drew Kendall. Was there any changes there as
- 11:56Speaker 1: far as who's lining up way on second and third teams?
- 11:59Speaker 2: So I see Drew Kenne will take any work with
- 12:02Speaker 2: and enduring the seven on seven or eleven on eleven's.
- 12:04Speaker 2: And so the second team was comprised of They had
- 12:07Speaker 2: John Ajukuu, who's been around a little bit. He spent
- 12:10Speaker 2: some time with the Tennessee Titans. Eagles signed him to
- 12:12Speaker 2: a futures deal. He was left tackle, Miles Cinton was
- 12:15Speaker 2: left guard, center was Willie Lampkin, and I'm going through
- 12:18Speaker 2: the second team right guard was Jake Majors and right
- 12:22Speaker 2: tackle was Cameron Williams. And Cameron Williams was also the
- 12:25Speaker 2: third team right tackle. They also didn't have Holland Pierce today,
- 12:29Speaker 2: by the way, so that that that factors in.
- 12:32Speaker 4: That's interesting.
- 12:33Speaker 1: So so so no reps at all for for Kendall.
- 12:38Speaker 2: No, and then.
- 12:40Speaker 3: He must have had something, yeah, because he's the backup center,
- 12:43Speaker 3: so obviously he's something to deal with something.
- 12:46Speaker 2: Yeah, and then Lampkin was the third team center as well.
- 12:48Speaker 1: So got it, got it, and so I get I
- 12:52Speaker 1: would think that with Bell playing first team right tackle,
- 12:55Speaker 1: he's getting a steady dose there of Jaylex Hunt, which
- 12:58Speaker 1: is sort of like too completely different types of players.
- 13:01Speaker 1: You get this big, hulking right tackle and you get
- 13:04Speaker 1: the undersize, fast and like completely you know, at uber
- 13:08Speaker 1: athletic edge rusher across from him.
- 13:11Speaker 2: Yeah, j Loox has some juice and I can't wait
- 13:14Speaker 2: to see how that battle manifests when they have the
- 13:16Speaker 2: pads on. But he added some weight last summer. It
- 13:20Speaker 2: looks like he's still maintained that, and I think he's
- 13:22Speaker 2: going to have a jay Loox is going to have
- 13:24Speaker 2: a breakthrough season. It's going to be really good for
- 13:26Speaker 2: Mark hel Bell to get those reps.
- 13:29Speaker 4: Yeah. Sure.
- 13:30Speaker 3: Andrew question on the offense, so you you've covered this
- 13:33Speaker 3: team a long time, just from an overview, how much
- 13:38Speaker 3: different does this offense look like conceptually when you're when
- 13:40Speaker 3: you're going to practice comparavely to Sirianni and Kellen Moore
- 13:45Speaker 3: and Kellen Morris scheme sirian Just from.
- 13:48Speaker 2: A first blush, it does look a little different. But
- 13:51Speaker 2: I'll say there's a lot of elements at him that
- 13:53Speaker 2: remind me of offenses that we've seen in the past,
- 13:55Speaker 2: and I don't expect them to fully open things up
- 13:58Speaker 2: until you get to the summer training camp. But there
- 14:01Speaker 2: is a lot of checkdowns, a lot of intermediary throws. Yes,
- 14:04Speaker 2: you are saying pre sat motion, you are saying way
- 14:07Speaker 2: more under center than we've ever seen in the Jalen
- 14:10Speaker 2: Hursts Nick Sirianni era. But apart from that, you don't
- 14:13Speaker 2: really see You're not able to really discern anything that's
- 14:17Speaker 2: incredibly different from what we've seen. There's some elements, but
- 14:21Speaker 2: nothing super drastic at this stage.

- 15:44Speaker 4: One and up.
- 15:46Speaker 1: How about like with what Adams talking about formationally with
- 15:49Speaker 1: the receivers, like we're used to seeing aj Brown split left,
- 15:53Speaker 1: DeVante Smith on the right side. Occasionally they'll run a
- 15:57Speaker 1: trips or a bunch, but we know that, you know,
- 15:59Speaker 1: condensed formations is really more of a staple of the
- 16:02Speaker 1: West Coast Office. Are we seeing sort of?
- 16:05Speaker 4: Okay, I did.
- 16:06Speaker 2: See that, and I saw some mixing and matching, like
- 16:08Speaker 2: Eli Stowers aligned inside on some occasions, caught some passes today.
- 16:14Speaker 2: So I am noticing some more condensed formations in terms
- 16:18Speaker 2: of the run game, which is what I'm most fascinated by.
- 16:21Speaker 2: They didn't really incorporate that a bunch in a day's practice.
- 16:24Speaker 2: It was mostly predicated on the passing.
- 16:26Speaker 4: Game, right cool.
- 16:28Speaker 1: Yeah, I think Adam will have to wait till training
- 16:30Speaker 1: camp to really get engauge. It's funny because of camp,
- 16:33Speaker 1: after the first few days, they start to settle into
- 16:35Speaker 1: that we're going to run the ball a lot and
- 16:37Speaker 1: nobody expects it, and all of a sudden, you start
- 16:38Speaker 1: to see the run game get involved because OTAs and
- 16:41Speaker 1: even like the first five days of training camp or
- 16:44Speaker 1: passing camps, you know, as they ramp up and then
- 16:47Speaker 1: they put the pads on, and then all of a sudden,
- 16:49Speaker 1: you start to see a running game.
- 16:50Speaker 3: Well yeah, it also you get to see what they're
- 16:52Speaker 3: going to do in the fall, like that's that's what
- 16:54Speaker 3: training camps all about, and that this is the experimentation
- 16:56Speaker 3: rotation time as I've called it now I don't know
- 16:59Speaker 3: what else is called. So that's because that's what they
- 17:01Speaker 3: teams do. He goes, are the only team all thirty
- 17:03Speaker 3: two do?
- 17:03Speaker 4: They all do this.
- 17:05Speaker 3: But it's always interesting because oh, speaking of interesting, Cooper
- 17:11Speaker 3: Degen playing that new position he's never played before.
- 17:13Speaker 4: What do you see from him? Got they ask that?
- 17:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I think Cooper Degene Adam can play virtually anywhere
- 17:19Speaker 2: in the back end. He looks really natural at safety.
- 17:22Speaker 2: In fact, today he mentioned that a player that he
- 17:24Speaker 2: watched this offseason was one of my favorite players to
- 17:27Speaker 2: ever watch in the secondary, and that's Charles Woodson. So
- 17:30Speaker 2: I can kind of see some similarities there in terms
- 17:32Speaker 2: of how they they you know, their utilization, their ball
- 17:35Speaker 2: skills and football IQ and things like that. But Cooper
- 17:38Speaker 2: Degen mentioned something in the post practice availability saying that
- 17:42Speaker 2: he's really prepared himself from day one to play three
- 17:45Speaker 2: different positions. So while it's not exactly a singlest transition,
- 17:49Speaker 2: he said he has a good idea and understanding of
- 17:52Speaker 2: what the requirements are for each respected position.
- 17:57Speaker 1: Andrew on defense, he said Jalen Carter didn't practice, so
- 18:00Speaker 1: who's getting the run on the first team in those
- 18:03Speaker 1: as in a rotation. Is it one guy where ill.
- 18:06Speaker 2: Yeah, you Tyron Young replaced him. Then you have Moro
- 18:09Speaker 2: Jomo and Jordan Davis.
- 18:11Speaker 1: Interesting, you wonder at what point it's Ty Robinson you're
- 18:15Speaker 1: gonna start? And you know, again we're in OTAs. We
- 18:17Speaker 1: don't make it much out of anything. And Byron Young
- 18:19Speaker 1: is an experienced player. But we have talked about the
- 18:22Speaker 1: need for this to be a jump year or a
- 18:24Speaker 1: leap year for for Ty Robinson.
- 18:28Speaker 2: It's a huge uh and you hate to say here,
- 18:31Speaker 2: but it is. It's a It's a big season for
- 18:33Speaker 2: for Ty Robinson going into his second summer. He's an
- 18:37Speaker 2: older second year player. And look when we you look
- 18:41Speaker 2: at this defensive tackle group next season. Moro Jumo's contract
- 18:45Speaker 2: is up at the end of this year, so is
- 18:48Speaker 2: Byron Young's. They really need Ty Robinson to step up
- 18:51Speaker 2: and be the player that they envision when they draft
- 18:53Speaker 2: him in the fourth round.
- 18:54Speaker 3: Well, one more for you, because everybody everybody's guy for
- 18:57Speaker 3: training camp because he's he's sort of like the guy
- 19:01Speaker 3: people are so intrigued by.
- 19:02Speaker 4: He's never played football before. You are, Bernard, what have
- 19:04Speaker 4: you seen so far? Not a ton I was.
- 19:07Speaker 2: I was kind of watching his movements and things like that.
- 19:09Speaker 2: I still think he's a little stiff. He needs to
- 19:11Speaker 2: become a little bit more fluid.
- 19:13Speaker 4: But you can't.
- 19:14Speaker 2: You can't look at Uar and not come away and
- 19:17Speaker 2: pressed with just how chiseled he is. He looks like
- 19:20Speaker 2: he's carved from granite. But obviously we as we all
- 19:23Speaker 2: know it's going to be a work in progress. But
- 19:25Speaker 2: the fluidity is something that I'm looking to keep an
- 19:27Speaker 2: eye on, you know, as the months progress here.
- 19:31Speaker 1: And you wonder how much of that is. He's obviously
- 19:33Speaker 1: very athletic, and I don't know if anybody if you
- 19:35Speaker 1: put him out on a track or had him playing
- 19:38Speaker 1: soccer or something, he probably has good fluidity. You have
- 19:41Speaker 1: to wonder how much of what's going on up here
- 19:43Speaker 1: just exactly lower and hesitant.
- 19:46Speaker 4: You know, Well that's he's thinking. That's where the stiffness
- 19:49Speaker 4: comes in.
- 19:50Speaker 3: Because if you don't if you don't take the right step,
- 19:53Speaker 3: it looks like you don't move correctly. So he's a
- 19:55Speaker 3: major project of major projects. But their Eagles are playing
- 19:59Speaker 3: along with him.
- 20:00Speaker 4: You know.
- 20:00Speaker 3: It's not about this year, it's about way down the road.
- 20:02Speaker 3: It's just about him to learn how what football's like.
- 20:05Speaker 4: You know, it's but like Andrew says, man, he looks
- 20:07Speaker 4: apart Man.
- 20:08Speaker 1: Well, yeah, you get a sense of how they're coaching
- 20:13Speaker 1: him in these practices. Do you see Clint Hurt like
- 20:15Speaker 1: in his ears, getting yelled at or like because this
- 20:18Speaker 1: is welcome to the NFL, or are they treating him
- 20:20Speaker 1: a little bit differently any sense?
- 20:22Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a great question. I don't see him getting
- 20:24Speaker 2: yelled at, he said, the practices that I've been there for.
- 20:27Speaker 2: But I do see Clint Hurt taking a more gradual
- 20:30Speaker 2: approach with him. And that's really shouldn't be a surprise
- 20:33Speaker 2: when you think back to the draft call from the
- 20:35Speaker 2: Eagles video that they released, and they're going to rally
- 20:38Speaker 2: around him, They're going to support them, and they understand
- 20:40Speaker 2: that it's going to be a process. And Clint Hurt
- 20:42Speaker 2: is masterful when it comes to the teaching element, and
- 20:45Speaker 2: he has there's not a you know, it's not a
- 20:48Speaker 2: uniform approach and how he goes about everybody. He knows
- 20:52Speaker 2: how to press the right buttons, he knows what makes
- 20:55Speaker 2: each player tick, and he's going to kind of take
- 20:57Speaker 2: that nurturing approach when it comes to uar.
- 21:00Speaker 1: H good stuff all right, Let's get into some sort
- 21:04Speaker 1: of things that stood out to you that maybe not
- 21:07Speaker 1: be just anything, whether it's a play, a personnel group,
- 21:10Speaker 1: and anything that really kind of jumped out that you
- 21:12Speaker 1: make note of.
- 21:12Speaker 2: Yeah, Jalen Hurts, the best play of the day for
- 21:16Speaker 2: him was on a long wheel route completion to Saquon
- 21:20Speaker 2: Barkley where Saquon got behind Zach Bonn and Jeremiah Trotter Junior.
- 21:25Speaker 2: Squon always seems to turn up with these, with these
- 21:28Speaker 2: you know, flashy wheel routes and training camp and OTAs.
- 21:33Speaker 2: But we'll see if you see more of an influx
- 21:36Speaker 2: of that in the regular season. But Jaywen did have
- 21:38Speaker 2: some bullets, particularly one underneath to DeVante Smith hit him
- 21:43Speaker 2: right in stride. There was a couple of Dallas Goddard.
- 21:46Speaker 2: Now he did throw a really nice It was a
- 21:48Speaker 2: well placed ball down the left side line to Goddard
- 21:51Speaker 2: who had a step on Drew mccouba, but Godard wasn't
- 21:53Speaker 2: able to reel it in. That was the second play
- 21:56Speaker 2: of seven on seven. So the first play of seven
- 21:58Speaker 2: on seven's Jayleen got picked off by Jeremiah Trotter Junior,
- 22:02Speaker 2: who's kind of sunk in the coverage and just jumped
- 22:05Speaker 2: in front of the pass. Interesting, okay, but I thought
- 22:08Speaker 2: Andy Dalton really stuck out to me with his processing
- 22:11Speaker 2: and the touch that he had on his passes was
- 22:13Speaker 2: a lot sharper than he was in the previous time
- 22:16Speaker 2: that we got a chance to see him. And there
- 22:18Speaker 2: was a throw that he had down the scene to E. J.
- 22:20Speaker 2: Jenkins that was a highlight. There was another one that
- 22:23Speaker 2: was between Andre sam and Mac McWilliams that he threaded
- 22:27Speaker 2: perfectly to Elijah Moore. He just seems to you could
- 22:30Speaker 2: see that he's just a consummate pro and he seems
- 22:34Speaker 2: becoming increasingly more more comfortable.
- 22:37Speaker 1: Mac wifiams, I assume slot right, yeah, Nick Korea, Yeah.
- 22:41Speaker 4: Okay, he was okay. Uh.
- 22:43Speaker 3: You know with Andy Dalton as we finished here, his
- 22:45Speaker 3: thing was always processing when when he doesn't press, that
- 22:49Speaker 3: ball comes out like that.
- 22:50Speaker 4: Before he was one year he would he was it
- 22:53Speaker 4: wouldn't gonna be the MVP, but he was in the
- 22:55Speaker 4: running for it, and he got hurt. He had a hand,
- 22:56Speaker 4: he had a hand injury.
- 22:57Speaker 3: But then it was just slow proper assessing, not getting
- 23:01Speaker 3: rid of the football, taking hits, minor injuries and it's
- 23:04Speaker 3: become a journeyman by he's thirty eight.
- 23:06Speaker 4: But the Eagles, as we reported at the time, they
- 23:09Speaker 4: actually was between.
- 23:11Speaker 3: Ironically the Eagles in Carolina and then Eagles wind up
- 23:15Speaker 3: trading for him from Carolina.
- 23:17Speaker 4: How about that?
- 23:18Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 23:18Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 23:18Speaker 2: And lastly, because I know we're getting out of here,
- 23:21Speaker 2: the player of the day, alongside Andy Dalton was Reek
- 23:24Speaker 2: Woeing Rieke Wohing stride for stride with Hollywood Brown on
- 23:28Speaker 2: a deep shot from Jalen Hurts. The play was incomplete.
- 23:31Speaker 2: He had a breakup in the end zone during a
- 23:33Speaker 2: red zone period. You could just see his length and
- 23:36Speaker 2: movement ability. He's tough to get around. He's just really
- 23:39Speaker 2: tough to get around. I'm fascinated because I've never seen
- 23:43Speaker 2: or covered a player with these type of dimensions, and
- 23:45Speaker 2: I could see that. You know, as long as he's
- 23:48Speaker 2: able to take to this defense and be assignment sound
- 23:50Speaker 2: and someone that Vic Vangio can trust, he I think
- 23:53Speaker 2: he's going to have a nice season.
- 23:54Speaker 4: I look forward to seeing the battles.
- 23:56Speaker 3: Whoever, whether it's obviously DeVante's Smith is now the best
- 24:00Speaker 3: receiver with Brown traded, whoever lines up Hollywood Brown.
- 24:04Speaker 4: You just talked about that, matchup.
- 24:06Speaker 3: But when they get eleven elevens of the pats On
- 24:08Speaker 3: or when the competition becomes fierce, I really look forward
- 24:11Speaker 3: to seeing what Wooland does, to see if they could
- 24:13Speaker 3: get him, because he just talked about it Simon sound
- 24:16Speaker 3: being disciplined.
- 24:18Speaker 4: That's the key with this guy. He wasn't last year.
- 24:20Speaker 4: That's why they tried to trade him. M h.
- 24:23Speaker 1: By the way, I remember the first time I met
- 24:24Speaker 1: Larry Fitzgerald and I was having a conversation with him
- 24:28Speaker 1: and I and the whole time I'm talking to him,
- 24:31Speaker 1: I'm thinking, I have never seen anything like this, like
- 24:34Speaker 1: a wide receiver, because I don't think I ever was
- 24:36Speaker 1: in like Randy Moss's area to have a conversation with
- 24:40Speaker 1: him like I did with Fitzgerald. And sometimes you just
- 24:42Speaker 1: come across these athletes who are not built like that.
- 24:45Speaker 4: So good stuff. I know.
- 24:47Speaker 1: The Eagles will have another OTA next week and we'll
- 24:50Speaker 1: maybe too, Actually that might be open to the media.
- 24:52Speaker 1: We'll see and we'll have Andrew back for more takeaways,
- 24:55Speaker 1: observations and intel on what goes on.
- 24:58Speaker 2: The next time we're there is mandatory many June ninth next.
- 25:02Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, that's perfect, So we'll have even more observations.
- 25:05Speaker 1: Everybody will be expected to be there for Andrew to
- 25:08Speaker 1: Checko and Adam Kaplan.
- 25:10Speaker 4: I'm Jeff Mosher.
