- Lucas: Välkommen tillbaka to Learn Swedish with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Episode 102! We've done a lot of bakery episodes, but today it's all about buying cake. Lucas: Yes, cake. Tårta. A classic fika treat. So, Luna, imagine you're at a bakery and you see a delicious cake. Luna: I see it. It's a prinsesstårta, maybe. Green marzipan, lots of cream. I want a piece. Lucas: Then you say: Jag skulle vilja ha en bit tårta. That means 'I would like a piece of cake.' Let's break it down. 'Jag' is I, 'skulle vilja ha' is would like to have, 'en bit' a piece, 'tårta' cake. So literally 'I would like to have a piece cake.' Lucas: Exactly. Jag skulle vilja ha en bit tårta. Say it with me. Lucas: Good. Now, maybe you have a dietary restriction. For example, gluten-free. In Swedish: glutenfri. So you'd ask: Har ni någon glutenfri? That's 'Do you have any gluten-free?' Luna: Har ni någon glutenfri? 'Har ni' is 'do you have', 'någon' is 'any', and 'glutenfri' is 'gluten-free'. So: Har ni någon glutenfri? Lucas: Perfect. Now let's put it together. You walk up and say: Hej! Jag skulle vilja ha en bit tårta. Har ni någon glutenfri? Luna: Hej! Jag skulle vilja ha en bit tårta. Har ni någon glutenfri? Lucas: The baker says yes, they have a gluten-free chocolate cake. You decide to take it. Then you might want another piece later. So you say: Jag tar en bit till. That means 'I'll take another piece.' Luna: Jag tar en bit till. 'Jag tar' is 'I take', 'en bit' a piece, 'till' means 'more' or 'another'. So 'I take another piece.' Lucas: Yes. And before you pay, you ask: Hur mycket kostar en bit? — 'How much does a piece cost?' Luna: Hur mycket kostar en bit? 'Hur mycket' is 'how much', 'kostar' is 'costs', 'en bit' a piece. Hur mycket kostar en bit? Lucas: The baker says 45 kronor. You pay, take your cake, and then you taste it. You say: Tack, det var gott. — 'Thanks, that was good.' Luna: Tack, det var gott. 'Tack' thanks, 'det var' it was, 'gott' good. Tack, det var gott. Lucas: Now let's practice a full scene. I'll be the baker, you be the customer. Luna: Okay, here goes. Hej! Luna: Perfekt. Jag tar den. Hur mycket kostar en bit? Lucas: 45 kronor. Luna: Här är 50 kronor. Tack! Lucas: Tack själv! Smaklig måltid. Luna: Tack, det var gott! Lucas: You nailed it. And you even added 'smaklig måltid' — 'enjoy your meal' — from a previous episode. Well done. Luna: Thanks. I'm getting the hang of this bakery thing. Lucas: You are. Now let's imagine you're at a birthday party, and someone offers you cake. What do you say? Lucas: And after you've had one piece, they offer more. You say? Luna: Jag tar en bit till, tack. Lucas: And you ask about the price? Or maybe it's free. But if it's a bakery, you ask? Luna: Hur mycket kostar en bit? Lucas: And when you've finished? Luna: Tack, det var gott. Lucas: Perfect. You're ready for your next fika. Let's do one more run-through.
