Latest / Girl, Date the Good Guy ™ | Healing After Heartbreak & A Toxic Relationship / Letting Go After Breakup, Heartbreak & Betrayal
Transcript
- 0:00Sis, what if the reason you still feel heavy is because you're trying to carry
- 0:04a version of you God is asking you to release?
- 0:08What if healing isn't just about processing, but about letting go?
- 0:19Hey sis, welcome back to another episode of Girl Date the Good Guy.
- 0:23It's your girl Emily, and today our conversation is going to be a real one.
- 0:30Because I want to talk to the woman who has already left the toxic relationship.
- 0:36She's still carrying pieces of it, not necessarily physically,
- 0:41but internally, in her thoughts, in her actions, in her identity.
- 0:47And today, I want to gently ask you something.
- 0:51Are you ready to release her? I had a moment recently where I realized something deep.
- 0:58I'm not that girl anymore. I'm not the girl who was confused,
- 1:03not the girl who was constantly questioning herself, not the girl who needed
- 1:07to overanalyze everything just to feel safe.
- 1:12But if I'm honest, parts of her were still showing up in my triggers,
- 1:18in my thoughts, in the way I would embrace myself, even in peace.
- 1:23And God brought me to the scripture in Ezekiel.
- 1:27And when I read it, I was like, okay, God, this is intense.
- 1:32Because he told Ezekiel to shave his head.
- 1:36Completely strip it, and then take that hair and burn some, cut some,
- 1:43scatter some, and only keep a small portion tucked into his robe.
- 1:49And I felt the Holy Spirit whisper something so clearly.
- 1:53This is what I'm doing with you. And sis, that is what he wants to do with you
- 2:01too. Now let's talk about the shaving, because I know that might sound intense.
- 2:08But if you've been through toxic love, gaslighting, emotional confusion,
- 2:13you already know what this feels like.
- 2:17Healing will make you feel like you're being stripped.
- 2:20Stripped of old habits, stripped of old mindsets, stripped of the version of
- 2:25you that learned how to survive. and if I'm being real, it can feel exposing.
- 2:33Like, who even am I without all of this?
- 2:38Because that version of you, she knew how to navigate chaos.
- 2:42She knew how to read between the lines. She knew how to protect herself.
- 2:48But sis, she was built in survival, and you are not called to live there anymore.
- 2:56Let me say this clearly.
- 2:57God is not taking something from you to hurt you. He's removing what you no longer need to carry.
- 3:07Because that old identity, it's heavy. It's tangled. It's exhausting.
- 3:14Always scanning. Always bracing.
- 3:17Always trying to figure things out before they happen.
- 3:21And when God begins to shave that off, there's a moment where you feel exposed.
- 3:27But right after that, there's relief. because you realize, I don't have to carry this anymore.
- 3:34In Ezekiel, some of the hair was burned and I felt this so strongly.
- 3:40Some parts of your past, they are not meant to come with you.
- 3:45The gaslighting, the lies you believed about yourself, the identity that said,
- 3:51I'm not enough or I have to earn love.
- 3:55That doesn't get repackaged. That gets released.
- 3:59That gets burned because if you try to carry it into your future it will contaminate
- 4:05the very thing god is trying to build so this is your permission to let it go.
- 4:11Not slowly hold on to it, not revisit it every time you feel unsure,
- 4:16but to say, that version of me served its purpose.
- 4:20But she is not coming with me. Now this part right here, this is where it gets beautiful.
- 4:27Because God didn't tell Ezekiel to throw all the hair away.
- 4:32He said, take a small portion and tuck it into your robe.
- 4:37That means you don't lose everything. You don't lose the wisdom.
- 4:41You don't lose the discernment. You don't lose the strength you gained.
- 4:45That part, God keeps close. That's your remnant.
- 4:50That's the part of your story that becomes your voice, your testimony, your ministry.
- 4:57So no, you're not starting from zero.
- 5:00You're starting from refined. This is a shift, sis.
- 5:04You are not just the girl who survived something. You are the woman who can now discern,
- 5:10lead, and guard her heart from a place of peace You are the watchman now Not
- 5:16anxious, not reactive, but aware.
- 5:20Grounded, rooted in truth So when something comes up, you don't spiral You check
- 5:27it You go, is this real or is this old?
- 5:31And if it's old, you release it again and again and again until peace becomes your new normal.
- 5:41You don't need to keep identifying with the version of you that was hurt.
- 5:45In order to honor what you went through, you can honor her and still release her.
- 5:50You can thank her for surviving and still choose to evolve.
- 5:55Because the woman God is calling you into, she doesn't live in fear.
- 6:00She lives in freedom. Now, for your royal reflection, sis, sit with this.
- 6:06What part of my old identity am I still holding on to?
- 6:11What do I feel afraid to release and why?
- 6:15Do I trust God enough to let him redefine me?
- 6:21And this one, what if letting go would actually feel like relief?
- 6:26This week, we're doing something different.
- 6:29I want you to have a release moment with God.
- 6:32Get somewhere quiet, and I want you to literally say out loud,
- 6:36God, I release the version of me that was built in survival. Then name it.
- 6:43Release the fear. Release the overthinking. Release the need to control.
- 6:49Release the identity tied to your past.
- 6:52And then say, I receive the woman you are rebuilding me to be. And sit there.
- 7:00Let him meet you. Says you don't have to carry her anymore.
- 7:06You don't have to keep rehearsing the pain, replaying the confusion,
- 7:11or identifying with the brokenness.
- 7:14The shaving, it's not loss. It's preparation.
- 7:18God is making room for the woman you're becoming.
- 7:23Let's pray. Father God, we come before you ready to release.
- 7:28You see every woman listening right now.
- 7:31You see what she's been carrying, the weight, the identity, the pain that she's been holding onto.
- 7:39And today, God, we surrender it. We release the old version of ourselves that was built in survival.
- 7:47We release the lies, the fear, the confusion.
- 7:51And Father, we ask that you replace it with truth, with peace,
- 7:56with clarity, with identity rooted in you.
- 8:00Lord, give her the strength to let go and the faith to trust what you're rebuilding.
- 8:07Remind her that she is safe in you. Remind her that she is being restored.
- 8:13And remind her that she doesn't have to carry the past into her future.
- 8:17In the mighty name of Jesus, amen.
- 8:20If this spoke to you, I want you to come deeper.
