- 0:01Speaker 1: I cannot believe what I just heard. I mean, I'm
- 0:08Speaker 1: sitting here listening to the news at 3 o'clock, and
- 0:11Speaker 1: I can't believe what I heard. And I find it
- 0:19Speaker 1: deeply disturbing and troubling. Were you paying attention to the
- 0:26Speaker 1: news at 3? Were you listening? So I'm sitting here
- 0:33Speaker 1: and they're talking about the inflation rate being at over 3%.
- 0:41Speaker 1: And did you hear the sound bites from President Trump?
- 0:47Speaker 1: Did you? Were you paying attention? When they talked about
- 0:53Speaker 1: the inflation rates and costs going up and ask him
- 0:59Speaker 1: a question about it. Did you hear his response? The
- 1:09Speaker 1: only thing I'm focused on is Iran and a nuclear weapon.
- 1:11Speaker 1: I'm not even thinking about any of that. I'm not
- 1:14Speaker 1: even focused on it, not even thinking about it. Did
- 1:19Speaker 1: you hear that statement coming from Trump? I find that
- 1:26Speaker 1: deeply disturbing. I mean, in all seriousness, were you paying
- 1:31Speaker 1: attention at 3 o'clock during that newscast and hear that
- 1:34Speaker 1: statement coming from the president? When they're saying, okay, inflation
- 1:39Speaker 1: went high. It's high at over 3%. Gas prices are high.
- 1:47Speaker 1: So they ask him once again about that. And his
- 1:52Speaker 1: reaction is, I'm not even paying attention to that. The
- 1:54Speaker 1: only thing I'm concerned about is Iran getting a nuclear weapon.
- 1:58Speaker 1: That was his reaction. Basically what he said. How's that
- 2:04Speaker 1: make you feel? How does that make you feel? As
- 2:12Speaker 1: a Trump voter, I find it deeply disturbing. I want
- 2:19Speaker 1: to say you sure as hell should be concerned about
- 2:21Speaker 1: it because you caused it. Here's my reaction to his
- 2:25Speaker 1: comments in that fashion. My answer to that is, you
- 2:29Speaker 1: caused this. You're not paying attention to it. You're not
- 2:33Speaker 1: concerned about it. You created this mess. This isn't Joe Biden.
- 2:40Speaker 1: This is on you. And all of a sudden... When
- 2:46Speaker 1: you would be talking about affordability and inflation when you
- 2:49Speaker 1: were running in America first, all of a sudden, you're
- 2:52Speaker 1: not even thinking about it. You're just thinking about Iran
- 2:55Speaker 1: and a nuclear weapon. And what effect this is having
- 3:00Speaker 1: on each and every one of us. That stunned me.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Absolutely stunned me. It was like, I don't care about that.
- 3:16Speaker 1: I don't care where you are with gas and inflation
- 3:19Speaker 1: and the pressure it's putting on everybody's finances. For that
- 3:24Speaker 1: back burner, all I care about is Iran and the
- 3:26Speaker 1: nuclear weapon. I mean, you heard it, right? I'm not exaggerating.
- 3:30Speaker 1: That's what he said. And that's what I find deeply troubling.
- 3:40Speaker 1: CNBC headline, S & P 500 retreats from record as
- 3:44Speaker 1: tech rally cools off, inflation flares up. Headline on CNBC.
- 3:55Speaker 1: So digging deeper on their site, it's not just Iran
- 4:00Speaker 1: and oil rising. So it's not just Iran and the
- 4:03Speaker 1: cost of oil. Prices are also re-accelerating in other areas.
- 4:13Speaker 1: It's inflation. So it's not just about Iran. It's not
- 4:17Speaker 1: just about oil. It's inflation. Headlines. Traders believe inflation could
- 4:28Speaker 1: near 5% this year. Listen, I'm going to tell each
- 4:34Speaker 1: and every one of you, you better be concerned about this.
- 4:40Speaker 1: I think you can focus on more than one thing
- 4:42Speaker 1: at a time. But you better be concerned about this.
- 4:49Speaker 1: Because your constituents are. So when they're talking about Trump
- 4:56Speaker 1: believes inflation could near 5% this year. Markets raise chances
- 5:03Speaker 1: for a Fed rate hike. Not a cut in interest rates,
- 5:08Speaker 1: but a hike following hot inflation reports. In my opinion,
- 5:16Speaker 1: not making this up from the financial pages. And don't
- 5:23Speaker 1: come on at 3 o'clock, presidents, and tell me you're
- 5:26Speaker 1: not paying attention to it. You damn well better be
- 5:28Speaker 1: paying attention. I say as a Trump voter, not once,
- 5:31Speaker 1: not twice, but three times. And as I like to emphasize,
- 5:36Speaker 1: make no mistake, I wouldn't vote for Biden or Kamala
- 5:40Speaker 1: or Sherrod Brown or any Democrats. They're a disaster. They're
- 5:45Speaker 1: an absolute disaster. So I'm not so stupid that I'd say, oh, well,
- 5:48Speaker 1: that means I'm going to vote for the Democrat. That's
- 5:50Speaker 1: not going to happen. But I sure am disappointed in
- 5:56Speaker 1: that response to what is a significant problem for a
- 6:00Speaker 1: growing number of our constituents here. The problem being the
- 6:07Speaker 1: cost of living. The cost of living. That is the
- 6:20Speaker 1: big problem. That is the huge problem. The cost of living.
- 6:29Speaker 1: So now we're not just talking about what it costs
- 6:31Speaker 1: for a gallon of gas. Now we're talking about overall inflation.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Now we're talking about a rate hike from the feds.
- 6:44Speaker 1: This is not good news. Markets, Dow is up 80.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Everything else is in the red. Bad day for your 401k.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Bad day for your IRA. Bad day for your investments.
- 7:00Speaker 1: This is... and should be the primary concern of the
- 7:05Speaker 1: White House. Because they're going to live or die on this.
- 7:13Speaker 1: If they don't do something about this, the midterms will
- 7:16Speaker 1: be lost. Because it is the economy stupid. Every time
- 7:23Speaker 1: you get away from that, you're reminded of that after
- 7:27Speaker 1: an election. It is the economy stupid. And when people
- 7:31Speaker 1: are seeing their lifestyle decline and are concerned about surviving
- 7:37Speaker 1: and affording things, that's of concern. And to give a
- 7:47Speaker 1: quote like that, I'm not focused on that. Well, you
- 7:50Speaker 1: sure as hell should be. You were elected on affordability.
- 7:56Speaker 1: And right now you're not making it better. You're making
- 7:58Speaker 1: it worse. Comments, please. It might not be what he
- 8:10Speaker 1: wants to hear, but that is the reality out there.
- 8:15Speaker 1: And a hell of a lot more people are going
- 8:16Speaker 1: to be concerned with what's happening to their wallets and
- 8:20Speaker 1: cost and lifestyle than they are about Iran and a
- 8:27Speaker 1: nuclear weapon. I doubt that too many of you were
- 8:36Speaker 1: staying up at night before this started scared of Iran
- 8:40Speaker 1: with a nuclear weapon. I seriously doubt it. You might
- 8:43Speaker 1: act like you are now because you've been fed some
- 8:46Speaker 1: of this from the media, but you weren't on top
- 8:49Speaker 1: of this before this situation took place. You weren't concerned
- 8:54Speaker 1: about Iran and a nuclear weapon until they told you
- 8:59Speaker 1: and they started focusing on why you should be. or
- 9:04Speaker 1: thinking you should be, or trying to convince you you
- 9:07Speaker 1: should be. And I repeat, once again, the majority of
- 9:09Speaker 1: people in this country are not on board with this.
- 9:18Speaker 1: But the majority of people are under attack when it
- 9:25Speaker 1: comes to these economic numbers. All right, let's see if
- 9:30Speaker 1: we can start out with some interesting comments. You're on
- 9:33Speaker 1: the air.
- 9:34Speaker 2: Hey, yeah, good afternoon. Well, you said it right. I
- 9:40Speaker 2: heard it, too. I couldn't believe it. My jaw dropped.
- 9:43Speaker 3: So did mine.
- 9:43Speaker 2: Yeah, well, it..
- 9:47Speaker 1: I couldn't believe it.
- 9:48Speaker 2: How is it our gas prices are so high? All
- 9:51Speaker 2: the countries throughout the world, except for maybe Canada, they're
- 9:54Speaker 2: paying double the amount that we're paying for our price
- 9:57Speaker 2: per gallon, almost three times as much. $ 12 a gallon.
- 10:02Speaker 2: But it was all the soil from Venezuela. How come
- 10:05Speaker 2: we aren't doing that? But mark my words. Mark my words.
- 10:12Speaker 2: At the end of the year, when the taxes are
- 10:16Speaker 2: done and put in, you are going to see that these...
- 10:21Speaker 2: corporations that make the gas and everything else, they are
- 10:25Speaker 2: going to have a record-breaking year of almost trillion dollars
- 10:30Speaker 2: in making money.
- 10:32Speaker 1: I totally agree with that. I completely agree with that statement.
- 10:35Speaker 1: You're saying the oil companies will have record-breaking years, and
- 10:39Speaker 1: I agree with that.
- 10:41Speaker 2: The thing of it is, is Europe's already looking at
- 10:43Speaker 2: the Shell Corporation and BP because they're already showing it
- 10:50Speaker 2: on how much money they're making. So they're talking about
- 10:54Speaker 2: taxing the windfall tax. I wouldn't call it a windfall tax.
- 10:59Speaker 2: Hell no, I'd call it what it is, a tax
- 11:02Speaker 2: for gouging the people of the world. That's what I
- 11:08Speaker 2: would call it.
- 11:10Speaker 1: Well, I'm glad you heard the comments as I did,
- 11:12Speaker 1: because you have to pay attention to it, and I
- 11:16Speaker 1: was absolutely stunned. By that comment. And my reaction is,
- 11:22Speaker 1: you sure as hell should be concerned about it, because
- 11:25Speaker 1: I got news for you. I am. I'm concerned about it,
- 11:29Speaker 1: because guess what? It affects me.
- 11:32Speaker 2: You're right. It affects us all, doesn't it?
- 11:35Speaker 1: Yes, it does.
- 11:37Speaker 2: Yeah. Here, I'd like to change it just a little bit.
- 11:40Speaker 2: On the governor race coming up, Dr. Pat, upon looking
- 11:44Speaker 2: at her memoirs or whatever, on how she was, where
- 11:50Speaker 2: she was. And if I understand it correctly, I've only
- 11:53Speaker 2: researched it once. She's a native of Youngstown, Ohio.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Oh, you mean Amy Acton. That is true.
- 12:01Speaker 2: And she also was homeless for a while, worked her
- 12:05Speaker 2: way up. But every time she made a move, when
- 12:10Speaker 2: the COVID epidemic came in, the one man that backed
- 12:15Speaker 2: her was DeWine. One specific statement was, we are going
- 12:21Speaker 2: to follow the sciences of this disease. So she put
- 12:27Speaker 2: it out there. She left because her and her family,
- 12:31Speaker 2: just like Major Taylor Greene, left because she was receiving
- 12:38Speaker 2: life threats against her and her family.
- 12:42Speaker 1: Yeah, but let's back up for a second. Where are
- 12:45Speaker 1: you calling out, PA?
- 12:47Speaker 2: No, no, no. Niles, Ohio.
- 12:49Speaker 1: Oh, Niles.
- 12:50Speaker 4: Okay.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Well, then you were, obviously, you were in Ohio, as
- 12:54Speaker 1: I was when this was going on. It doesn't matter.
- 12:59Speaker 1: She left at a critical time and hightailed it out.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Just bear with me. There isn't an excuse that's acceptable
- 13:07Speaker 1: for me for that. If you think it's difficult being
- 13:11Speaker 1: the state doctor and you can't take that pressure... Well,
- 13:16Speaker 1: wait till you're governor because it's going to be way
- 13:20Speaker 1: more pressure, way more intense, and way more disagreements or
- 13:25Speaker 1: controversy that comes with it. I mean, do you think
- 13:29Speaker 1: that Amy Acton was under more stress than the governor
- 13:34Speaker 1: is or the governor is now? Like when people are
- 13:38Speaker 1: pointing to DeWine right now and saying, well, wait a minute.
- 13:40Speaker 1: What about all this fraud that's happening in Ohio? How
- 13:44Speaker 1: did they get away with it? Why weren't you on
- 13:46Speaker 1: top of it? Why weren't you doing anything? I mean,
- 13:49Speaker 1: it's fair criticism to ask DeWine. I mean, as a Republican,
- 13:53Speaker 1: you can't give him a pass when they're talking about
- 13:55Speaker 1: billions of dollars of fraud in Ohio. And he is
- 14:00Speaker 1: silent about it. I'm not seeing much of a difference
- 14:03Speaker 1: between him and Tampon Tim on this.
- 14:06Speaker 2: Well, you got a point there, but he's a Republican,
- 14:08Speaker 2: and they'll go ahead to hide it. But the thing
- 14:11Speaker 2: that bothers me is when he got nailed for it
- 14:14Speaker 2: the first time, under all those unemployment checks and all
- 14:18Speaker 2: that money given out, his statement was direct. He looked
- 14:23Speaker 2: at everybody and said, you're right, but I was thinking
- 14:28Speaker 2: of the kids.
- 14:30Speaker 1: I get tired of it. Listen, fraud is fraud. I
- 14:33Speaker 1: get tired of it. They're talking about the folks in
- 14:36Speaker 1: Ohio stealing huge sums of Medicaid money. Medicaid makes up
- 14:41Speaker 1: half of the state budget. $ 45 million of a $ 90
- 14:45Speaker 1: million budget, basically, in the state of Ohio. Is it
- 14:50Speaker 1: million or billion? I would think it would be billion.
- 14:53Speaker 1: But anyway, $ 90 billion budget. Or maybe it's a million.
- 14:59Speaker 1: I'll have to check. But half of our state budget
- 15:02Speaker 1: goes to Medicaid. And with fraud, you should be concerned.
- 15:05Speaker 1: Hang on. I'll come right back to you and let
- 15:06Speaker 1: you wrap up in a minute.
- 15:09Speaker 5: Youngstown's News, Weather, and Talk Station, 570 WKBN.
- 15:14Speaker 1: All I can say to you, my friend in Niles,
- 15:17Speaker 1: is that Amy Acton is... She isn't going to lower
- 15:22Speaker 1: your taxes. It's not their philosophy. Democrats will create more
- 15:27Speaker 1: handout programs. We can see what they've done in other states.
- 15:31Speaker 1: She is a progressive far-left Democrat. It doesn't matter to
- 15:34Speaker 1: me that her roots are in Youngstown. She is a
- 15:36Speaker 1: far-left progressive Democrat. I don't want to become a sanctuary state.
- 15:40Speaker 1: I don't want to have more government programs and government handouts.
- 15:44Speaker 1: I don't want to see taxes go up. Now, with
- 15:47Speaker 1: that being said, do I agree with her on, for example,
- 15:50Speaker 1: one thing she says is that we should restore the
- 15:54Speaker 1: government funding back to local governments. I agree with her
- 15:56Speaker 1: on that. So I don't disagree with her on everything.
- 15:59Speaker 1: I do agree with her on that. But I know
- 16:01Speaker 1: what her philosophy is, and her philosophy isn't one that
- 16:06Speaker 1: I can vote for. And I tell you that straightforward,
- 16:08Speaker 1: just as I say I'm deeply disappointed in Mike DeWine
- 16:12Speaker 1: and where he stands. And I think Vivek will be
- 16:16Speaker 1: a much better person at running this state, I think,
- 16:21Speaker 1: in the right direction. that can benefit all of us
- 16:25Speaker 1: in Ohio, productive people in Ohio. I leave you with that.
- 16:28Speaker 1: But I'm glad of one thing. I'm glad you were
- 16:30Speaker 1: as stunned sitting in Niles, Ohio, as I was sitting
- 16:34Speaker 1: here in Boardman, Ohio, when you heard that statement come
- 16:37Speaker 1: out of the president's mouth. That's just unbelievable to me.
- 16:42Speaker 2: To me, yeah, it just shows what his thinking is.
- 16:46Speaker 2: I mean, if you don't want them to have a bomb,
- 16:50Speaker 2: a nuclear bomb, then you need to do, you've got
- 16:54Speaker 2: steps here that are involved. And the one country that's
- 16:57Speaker 2: going to hold it up is Israel.
- 16:58Speaker 1: Well, let's be realistic. The bunker buster had to set
- 17:01Speaker 1: them back. All of this bombing had to set them back.
- 17:05Speaker 1: So I don't know that we know what damage has
- 17:09Speaker 1: been done. I think their idea of getting a bomb
- 17:12Speaker 1: anytime soon is probably out of the equation at this
- 17:16Speaker 1: point in time. So how long do you want to
- 17:19Speaker 1: stay with this? Do you want to stay with it
- 17:22Speaker 1: as you destroy the American economy? And I do mean
- 17:24Speaker 1: destroy it. Put us in a deep recession. Cause unemployment.
- 17:28Speaker 1: Cause inflation. Cause a down market. If that's your choice,
- 17:34Speaker 1: then you'll suffer the consequences as Joe Biden did when
- 17:38Speaker 1: people felt he was totally out of touch in a
- 17:40Speaker 1: Republican sweep with the problems that we're facing each and
- 17:43Speaker 1: every individual American. It's Americans first.
- 17:47Speaker 3: Good hearing you.
- 17:48Speaker 1: I'm glad you started things off for me today.
- 17:49Speaker 4: Appreciate it.
- 17:51Speaker 2: Well, that's fine. I'm glad to hear I could do
- 17:53Speaker 2: that for you. But the thing that bothers me about
- 17:55Speaker 2: that whole thing in the Middle East is Iran don't care.
- 17:59Speaker 2: We'll go back to moving with camels.
- 18:01Speaker 6: There you go.
- 18:03Speaker 1: Yep, I keep hearing a deal's imminent. I've been hearing
- 18:05Speaker 1: it for weeks. Well, where is it? Now I'm hearing
- 18:08Speaker 1: we've got to go back to bombing.
- 18:09Speaker 2: We're not going to get one out of them.
- 18:11Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 18:12Speaker 2: What he wants out of them people. And the first
- 18:14Speaker 2: country that's got to step, that they're going to have
- 18:17Speaker 2: to pull back on, is this country of Israel. You
- 18:21Speaker 2: don't need any nuclear bombs. You remove them nuclear bombs,
- 18:26Speaker 2: Iran may come to the table. And under that, the
- 18:29Speaker 2: United States should say, We need people to come in
- 18:32Speaker 2: and check this. And I would suggest you start with England,
- 18:37Speaker 2: with their people to come in to look for it, France, Germany, China.
- 18:43Speaker 1: Well, Iran's going to argue, listen, we pretty much had
- 18:47Speaker 1: control of the strait before this happened. We're not giving
- 18:50Speaker 1: up control of it now because of the geography of
- 18:53Speaker 1: where it's located. It's located by us.
- 18:58Speaker 2: But most of that oil goes right to China. You
- 19:00Speaker 2: don't even go any other place.
- 19:03Speaker 7: Yep.
- 19:04Speaker 1: Thank you. Appreciate your time.
- 19:05Speaker 2: You have a nice day today.
- 19:07Speaker 1: You too. NewsRadio 570. Let me pause for the headlines.
- 19:11Speaker 1: At 3.30, then I come back and pick up with
- 19:13Speaker 1: more of your calls. Ron Verb from the Kingdom of Mahoning. Yes,
- 19:16Speaker 1: I am. Here until 5.30, then the Guardian Spree Game.
- 19:19Speaker 1: NewsRadio 570.
- 19:20Speaker 2: WKVN.
- 19:21Speaker 5: Ron Verb, NewsRadio 570.
- 19:22Speaker 2: WKVN.
- 19:22Speaker 6: You're on the air.
- 19:27Speaker 8: Yeah, I was just calling back from yesterday to talk
- 19:30Speaker 8: about the Vindicator's editorial May 2nd.
- 19:33Speaker 2: Yes.
- 19:33Speaker 9: I don't want to talk about that.
- 19:35Speaker 8: But you still want to talk about it.
- 19:36Speaker 10: No, I do.
- 19:37Speaker 1: I do. This was a– I missed this editorial, and
- 19:40Speaker 1: I get the Vindicator. I might even have it here somewhere,
- 19:42Speaker 1: May 2nd. Let's see. What is it today? So 10
- 19:45Speaker 1: days ago, this is what the Vindicator wrote pertinent to
- 19:49Speaker 1: the property tax. Go ahead and read it to us.
- 19:52Speaker 8: Okay, so the title is, Ohio Tax Abolition Campaign Stumbles,
- 19:57Speaker 8: Opposition Grows. From a variety of perspectives, the Axe Ohio
- 20:02Speaker 8: Tax Movement to abolish all local property taxes in Ohio
- 20:05Speaker 8: is going over like a proverbial lead ballooned. Consider, and
- 20:09Speaker 8: then they have three bullet points, it's nearly a year-long
- 20:12Speaker 8: drive to collect its goal of 620,000 ballot access petition
- 20:16Speaker 8: signatures as of last week has fallen woefully short, lacking
- 20:21Speaker 8: 315,000 needed signers. And time is running short for their
- 20:25Speaker 8: submission to state officials to qualify for this fall's ballot.
- 20:29Speaker 8: Their second point, a mushrooming coalition of more than 65
- 20:33Speaker 8: organizations and local governments across the state have united under
- 20:37Speaker 8: the banner of Ohioans to protect public services to aggressively
- 20:42Speaker 8: oppose the proposed voter-initiated state constitutional amendment. Their third point,
- 20:47Speaker 8: property tax reform has jettisoned to priority number one in
- 20:50Speaker 8: the Ohio General Assembly with successful results ever since the
- 20:54Speaker 8: Citizens for Property Tax Reforms campaign in began in early 2025. Okay,
- 20:59Speaker 8: that's Beth Blackmar's group, not Brian Massey's group. So far,
- 21:04Speaker 8: according to State Rep. Dave Thomas, a leader in the
- 21:07Speaker 8: tax relief push, Ohioans will enjoy about $ 3. 8 billion in
- 21:11Speaker 8: property tax reductions over the next three years, thanks to
- 21:15Speaker 8: reforms enacted over this past year. Nonetheless, even though the
- 21:20Speaker 8: abolition movement appears to be grasping for oxygen and the
- 21:24Speaker 8: opposition movement gains more stamina by the day, the future
- 21:28Speaker 8: of stable public services in local communities remains at risk
- 21:33Speaker 8: if ACTS Ohio Tax's principal goal is not taken dead
- 21:36Speaker 8: seriously and not fought vociferously. At a press conference last
- 21:41Speaker 8: week in Kirtland, Ohio, Axe Ohio Tax co-founder Brian Massey
- 21:46Speaker 8: issued an urgent plea for a tsunami of petition signatures
- 21:49Speaker 8: by June 1st and suggested the group may prolong its
- 21:52Speaker 8: petition drive into next year, thereby missing again its goal
- 21:56Speaker 8: of statewide vote this November. The group last year missed
- 22:00Speaker 8: its initial target of November 2025 for ballot placement because
- 22:04Speaker 8: of insufficient signatures. I'm not sure what they're talking about.
- 22:08Speaker 8: From the perspective of Axe Ohio Tax, activating the yellow
- 22:11Speaker 8: caution light would serve its serious, albeit misguided, mission well.
- 22:17Speaker 8: It would lessen the very real risk of their year-long
- 22:19Speaker 8: movement sinking for the lack of sufficient and properly signed
- 22:23Speaker 8: and organized petitions. I don't know where the vindicator gets
- 22:27Speaker 8: that either. From our perspective, the year-long delay would provide
- 22:31Speaker 8: more than ample time to greatly amplify the opposition voice
- 22:34Speaker 8: as well as to complement newly enacted tax reforms with
- 22:38Speaker 8: even more substantive measures to usher in more tax relief,
- 22:42Speaker 8: all of which could render the abolition movement moot. But
- 22:46Speaker 8: as of today, the outcome is far from certain, and
- 22:48Speaker 8: Ohio voters could still conceivably put the kibosh on all
- 22:51Speaker 8: local property tax collections in a statewide vote this fall.
- 22:55Speaker 8: The stakes are clearly too high not to intensify the
- 22:58Speaker 8: anti-tax abolition campaign. Just how high are those stakes? According
- 23:03Speaker 8: to the memo, Ohio Office of Budget and Management Director
- 23:07Speaker 8: Kimberly Mernicks wrote to Governor DeWine earlier this year, Ohio
- 23:11Speaker 8: would need to quadruple or more from 2.75% up to 15%
- 23:16Speaker 8: statewide its income tax to replace local property tax levies. Further,
- 23:21Speaker 8: according to the Ohio Department of Taxation, the state would
- 23:24Speaker 8: have to raise its sales tax up to 18% of
- 23:27Speaker 8: the cost of purchased goods to provide a suitable cushion
- 23:31Speaker 8: to finance local safety services, schools, libraries, and other critical
- 23:36Speaker 8: services currently funded via local property taxes. Oh, so libraries
- 23:41Speaker 8: are critical, right?
- 23:44Speaker 1: Just keep this in mind as everybody's listening to this,
- 23:48Speaker 1: this vindicated editorial. here's my reaction. Well, I guess there's
- 23:52Speaker 1: just no answer. I guess based on what they're saying,
- 23:55Speaker 1: there's just no answer, folks. If we get rid of
- 23:59Speaker 1: property taxes, here's what the sales tax is going to
- 24:01Speaker 1: have to be. Here's what the income tax is going
- 24:03Speaker 1: to have to be. We're not talking anything about cutting anything.
- 24:07Speaker 1: I mean, there's absolutely nothing about, they just want to
- 24:11Speaker 1: reshuffle the chairs on the Titanic. So the whole point
- 24:16Speaker 1: of the article is, as I've said to all of you,
- 24:19Speaker 1: as you're listening to this, and I remind you, they
- 24:22Speaker 1: won't be happy until they have all of your money.
- 24:26Speaker 1: I say it once again. It will never be enough.
- 24:29Speaker 1: They continue to take more. They got a giant increase
- 24:34Speaker 1: with their last re-evaluations. They're not willing to, in Mahoning
- 24:38Speaker 1: and Trumbull counties, give you a small percentage of what
- 24:40Speaker 1: they took from you back with a huge increase. And
- 24:45Speaker 1: you've got a Vindicator editorial basically saying, well, you can't
- 24:48Speaker 1: cut property taxes. Forget all the money the state has.
- 24:52Speaker 1: Forget the $ 45 billion, I guess, that we have. I've
- 25:00Speaker 1: got to clarify that.
- 25:01Speaker 8: Well, the Rainy Day Fund is $ 4 billion.
- 25:03Speaker 1: Yeah, so forget all the money that the state takes.
- 25:07Speaker 1: $ 90 billion to budgets per year. 45 of which goes
- 25:14Speaker 1: just to Medicaid, just to Medicaid. And we're seeing all
- 25:18Speaker 1: the fraud that is taking place in Medicaid. So if
- 25:21Speaker 1: we stop the fraud that DeWine is just dragging his
- 25:25Speaker 1: feet on, that we can say, where was our attorney general?
- 25:28Speaker 1: Where were the people that should be paying attention to this?
- 25:32Speaker 1: Our auditor, the attorney general, why weren't they paying attention
- 25:35Speaker 1: to what was going on? Why wasn't this investigated as
- 25:38Speaker 1: it wasn't in Minnesota? We're talking billions of dollars, billions
- 25:43Speaker 1: of dollars, billions of dollars that could have instead of
- 25:47Speaker 1: gone for Medicaid fraud, could have gone to our schools.
- 25:51Speaker 1: Could have eased the burden on property taxes. Is there
- 25:54Speaker 1: anything in the Vindicator editorial about that? I'm just reminding
- 25:58Speaker 1: you as she reads this.
- 25:59Speaker 8: Here's what I don't like. The paragraph that says, that's
- 26:02Speaker 8: why the organized opposition to the tax movement must grow
- 26:06Speaker 8: and strengthen organizations, local governments, and school districts in the
- 26:10Speaker 8: Mahoning Valley should consider formally supporting OPPS. And here's what
- 26:15Speaker 8: really makes me mad. Individuals should resist the very real
- 26:18Speaker 8: temptation to sign Axe Ohio Tax ballot access petitions.
- 26:23Speaker 3: Don't sign anything.
- 26:24Speaker 1: Can you imagine telling people that?
- 26:25Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 26:26Speaker 1: Don't sign a petition. Now listen to what they're saying.
- 26:30Speaker 1: Do not sign a petition that says, let's put a
- 26:34Speaker 1: constitutional amendment in front of the public to vote for
- 26:37Speaker 1: or against. This is all about giving people a choice
- 26:42Speaker 1: to vote for it or against it. They're suggesting you
- 26:44Speaker 1: shouldn't even sign for it. You shouldn't even give people
- 26:47Speaker 1: the option. We should continue to let people be ignored
- 26:50Speaker 1: by their county commissioners in our community here. that had
- 26:55Speaker 1: a huge increase that won't give you a portion of that,
- 26:58Speaker 1: of your money back. They don't give a damn what
- 27:01Speaker 1: burden they, they lip the services. Oh, it's tough. They
- 27:05Speaker 1: lip and tell you that they give a damn, but
- 27:07Speaker 1: the talk is cheap. Deeds are precious. They don't make
- 27:09Speaker 1: any cuts to give you your money back. When they,
- 27:13Speaker 1: when they're given that ability, you're getting reevaluated again, as
- 27:17Speaker 1: we speak. So your property taxes will go up again
- 27:21Speaker 1: on your inside millage. And it will go up whatever
- 27:25Speaker 1: the rate of inflation is, but they will go up
- 27:27Speaker 1: again on top of what you're already paying. It will
- 27:31Speaker 1: never be enough. And by God, you shouldn't sign a
- 27:34Speaker 1: petition to do away with property taxes. You should sit
- 27:37Speaker 1: there and take it and let them price your ass
- 27:40Speaker 1: out of your own home. Let you get old and retire,
- 27:43Speaker 1: but not able to afford in your own home. This
- 27:46Speaker 1: is what this is saying. This is what they're doing.
- 27:49Speaker 1: And by God, Dave Thomas, and I'll sit here till
- 27:53Speaker 1: my time is done here, and I'll be bitching about this.
- 27:57Speaker 1: And those of you that disagree with me, You will
- 28:00Speaker 1: come to my understanding. on how you've been betrayed by
- 28:05Speaker 1: these local politicians, you will come to my understanding when
- 28:08Speaker 1: you will see how it is screwing your adult children
- 28:12Speaker 1: and your young children who will be adults, making it
- 28:15Speaker 1: difficult for them to purchase a home because of the
- 28:18Speaker 1: burden of property taxes and making it difficult for you
- 28:22Speaker 1: and your family members to stay in their home as
- 28:26Speaker 1: they retire. We've never seen this before in this country.
- 28:31Speaker 1: And by God, that's what the battle is all about.
- 28:35Speaker 1: And this paper is.
- 28:36Speaker 8: Basically saying this is all going to the children, all
- 28:39Speaker 8: these property taxes for schools, but they're not. The money
- 28:42Speaker 8: is going to pay the cumulative interest that has been
- 28:46Speaker 8: compounding because the school districts have not paid off the
- 28:49Speaker 8: principal of any of the bonds for dozens of years.
- 28:53Speaker 8: That's what's going on. That's illegal.
- 28:56Speaker 9: What do we got?
- 28:59Speaker 1: A $ 15 million sports complex that we build in Austintown?
- 29:04Speaker 1: I mean, this is where we're going with your tax
- 29:09Speaker 1: dollars for sports? A fitness center? I mean, we're not
- 29:13Speaker 1: talking about education here. This is ridiculous. No. As though
- 29:19Speaker 1: there certainly can't be any waste in the school system.
- 29:22Speaker 3: Well, wait a minute.
- 29:23Speaker 1: We're not having as many kids. Enrollment in school systems
- 29:26Speaker 1: is down. God forbid if we do any consolidation or say, well,
- 29:31Speaker 1: wait a minute. We don't have the amount of kids
- 29:33Speaker 1: that we've had. We've got to make cuts because we
- 29:36Speaker 1: have less students. Oh, excuse me, as they say in Youngstown,
- 29:40Speaker 1: less scholars. So we have less of them. So shouldn't
- 29:43Speaker 1: the expenses be coming down?
- 29:46Speaker 8: Well, you can't because you're only paying on interest. It's compounding,
- 29:49Speaker 8: and they're not paying off the principal of any of
- 29:51Speaker 8: these bonds across the country.
- 29:53Speaker 1: This is insanity.
- 29:53Speaker 9: According to Mitch Bexler, yeah.
- 29:55Speaker 1: But that's why I sit here and say– Listen, once again,
- 29:59Speaker 1: I'm saying to all of you, I wish you nothing
- 30:01Speaker 1: but the very best, each and every one of you.
- 30:03Speaker 1: But by God, I sit here and I want you
- 30:05Speaker 1: to understand something. If you don't understand this issue, you will.
- 30:11Speaker 1: You will come to understand it when your children that
- 30:15Speaker 1: are adults have a difficult time buying a home because
- 30:18Speaker 1: of how much their property taxes will be in addition
- 30:21Speaker 1: to the payment, making it more difficult to buy a
- 30:25Speaker 1: home and achieve the American dream, if you will. And
- 30:28Speaker 1: for you as you get older or your parents that
- 30:33Speaker 1: are older to be able to stay in their home
- 30:35Speaker 1: because they've been taxed out of it. We've never had
- 30:38Speaker 1: this in this country before. And by God, you better
- 30:40Speaker 1: stand up and fight it where we are right here
- 30:44Speaker 1: and right now. This is utter bull crap. So it's
- 30:50Speaker 1: got to be thought through, and we've got to make
- 30:51Speaker 1: some changes here. Government can't take care of everybody's problems.
- 30:56Speaker 1: There has to be personal responsibility. I was just reading here.
- 31:00Speaker 1: This was sent to me. I'm going to get into
- 31:03Speaker 1: this later because I ain't got a lot of time.
- 31:04Speaker 1: I'll get into that tomorrow. I got something for you
- 31:07Speaker 1: tomorrow I want you to hear. Call in tomorrow and
- 31:09Speaker 1: I'll tell you about it.
- 31:10Speaker 8: Yeah, well, this paper is nothing but a socialist paper, okay?
- 31:15Speaker 1: I don't know about that.
- 31:15Speaker 8: Just like CNN and MSNBC.
- 31:17Speaker 1: Well, that's their opinion, and I gave you my opinion
- 31:19Speaker 1: about their opinion. And, you know, hey, guess what? You
- 31:23Speaker 1: keep doing what you're doing. God bless you and all
- 31:27Speaker 1: your helpers. And folks, I'm telling you right now, you'll
- 31:32Speaker 1: all come around to understanding what I'm saying to you.
- 31:35Speaker 1: Even if you disagree with me now, you will come
- 31:37Speaker 1: around to it. I cannot tell you the emails I
- 31:40Speaker 1: get from people that used to think I was full
- 31:42Speaker 1: of crap and nonsense. But then when their house is
- 31:47Speaker 1: paid off and all of a sudden they now understand
- 31:50Speaker 1: what their property taxes are because it was in their
- 31:53Speaker 1: payment and they put it in escrow. Then I get
- 31:56Speaker 1: the emails. Hey, I never knew that my property taxes
- 31:59Speaker 1: were this much per month. I get what you're saying now. Well,
- 32:02Speaker 1: a little late. Pay attention. All right.
- 32:05Speaker 2: I got it.
- 32:06Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 32:06Speaker 8: Okay.
- 32:07Speaker 1: All right. It just, that's why I say to you guys,
- 32:18Speaker 1: they won't be happy till they have all of your money.
- 32:23Speaker 1: That's why I'm glad Christine Oliver won. Because her two
- 32:29Speaker 1: important points were, A, doubling the homestead exemption, income base
- 32:36Speaker 1: for our poorest seniors, and doubling the owner occupancy. Each
- 32:41Speaker 1: and every one of you, I don't care if you're
- 32:42Speaker 1: a Republican or Democrat, by God, you deserve it. You've
- 32:45Speaker 1: been abused long enough, and you deserve to keep some
- 32:48Speaker 1: of your money back from that huge increase. And these
- 32:51Speaker 1: politicians that say, we're not going to do it because
- 32:53Speaker 1: the state isn't going to reimburse us, you've still got
- 32:56Speaker 1: a giant increase, for God's sakes. And you'll still have
- 32:59Speaker 1: more money. You're still ahead of the game, even with
- 33:03Speaker 1: giving your constituents, if you give a damn about it,
- 33:06Speaker 1: a small portion of their money back. For the love
- 33:09Speaker 1: of God, you're on the air.
- 33:10Speaker 12: Hi, Rod.
- 33:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 33:14Speaker 2: I'm not worried.
- 33:15Speaker 10: I'm not concerned.
- 33:16Speaker 3: This is..
- 33:19Speaker 13: I truly believe that it's more important.
- 33:22Speaker 14: That we worry about the war than we worry about
- 33:24Speaker 14: you paying for gas or you being uncomfortable. I think
- 33:28Speaker 14: that you guys are all overreacting. I really believe that
- 33:31Speaker 14: you're overreacting. You know that, right?
- 33:34Speaker 1: Wait a minute, folks. Don't say another word.
- 33:36Speaker 4: No, no, no, no, no, no.
- 33:38Speaker 1: Don't say another word. Listen to me. Just leave it
- 33:42Speaker 1: right there for now, okay? Seriously.
- 33:47Speaker 15: Are you going to hang up on me?
- 33:48Speaker 1: Okay, thank you, Mike. J.J. the liberal. Doing his best
- 33:55Speaker 1: to do his Trump impression. Leave it right there. A
- 33:59Speaker 1: great Trump impression that I just heard at 3 o'clock.
- 34:03Speaker 4: All right.
- 34:07Speaker 2: J.J.
- 34:07Speaker 1: The liberal. You're on the air.
- 34:10Speaker 10: Okay, let me respond to J.J., saying that the markets
- 34:17Speaker 10: are overreacting.
- 34:18Speaker 1: No, no, he was being sarcastic.
- 34:21Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 34:22Speaker 10: Well, George Soros once said, forget the efficient markets hypothesis.
- 34:28Speaker 10: He said, that's a bunch of nonsense. He said, first
- 34:32Speaker 10: the markets underreact to news, then they overreact later.
- 34:36Speaker 2: Well, I don't.
- 34:37Speaker 1: Care what Soros says. Or these people are saying, I'm saying,
- 34:41Speaker 1: did you hear it at 3 o'clock? Did you hear
- 34:43Speaker 1: the president's comments at 3 o'clock when he said in
- 34:47Speaker 1: my newscast here, on top of the hour, he said
- 34:51Speaker 1: when they announced inflation was over 3% and gas prices
- 34:57Speaker 1: and the effect it was having on consumers, and he said,
- 35:01Speaker 1: I'm not even focused on that. All I'm thinking about
- 35:04Speaker 1: is Iran and a nuclear weapon. I'm not even remotely
- 35:06Speaker 1: focused on that. Like, he didn't even give a damn
- 35:09Speaker 1: about it.
- 35:10Speaker 10: No, I didn't hear that until I tuned into your show,
- 35:14Speaker 10: because I've been busy analyzing Chinese stocks since Friday.
- 35:22Speaker 4: All right.
- 35:22Speaker 1: I don't want to talk about China. I'm sick of
- 35:24Speaker 1: you and the Chinese stocks.
- 35:26Speaker 10: Wait, wait, run.
- 35:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 35:28Speaker 10: I think you may have made a mistake. Did Trump say...
- 35:32Speaker 10: that inflation hit 3% because I'm reading front page financial
- 35:38Speaker 10: news and it is saying that NASDAQ down sharply in
- 35:44Speaker 10: final hour after inflation hits 3-year high, not 3%.
- 35:50Speaker 1: Yeah, well, the inflation's at 3%, and it is a
- 35:55Speaker 1: 3-year high, whatever it was, 3% or something. Traders believe
- 35:59Speaker 1: inflation could near 5% this year. Now, it's Now, it's
- 36:03Speaker 1: over 3% currently, and it's at a high over the
- 36:07Speaker 1: highest it's been like in three years, they were saying
- 36:09Speaker 1: on that newscast. They asked Trump what he thought about it,
- 36:15Speaker 1: and Trump's comments were, I'm not even focused about it.
- 36:19Speaker 1: I'm not even thinking about it. All I'm thinking about
- 36:21Speaker 1: is Iran and a nuclear weapon. And I sat here,
- 36:25Speaker 1: and I said, I can't even believe he would say
- 36:30Speaker 1: something like that. Stand by. Fort Lauderdale, Frank's on the line.
- 36:34Speaker 1: Get back to him. And more of your calls, 330-729-9977.
- 36:39Speaker 5: Radio 570, WKBN.
- 36:42Speaker 1: And Ron Furbar, go ahead, Frank.
- 36:45Speaker 10: Okay. I interrupted my day to call because that one
- 36:51Speaker 10: caller made a very good point. The oil companies will
- 36:55Speaker 10: probably have record-breaking profits. Now, I own oil, natural gas,
- 37:00Speaker 10: and clean energy companies, and Warren Buffett owns oil companies.
- 37:06Speaker 10: He owns $ 30 billion in one oil company alone run,
- 37:12Speaker 10: and oil has gone from $ 90 a barrel to $ 102. 50
- 37:14Speaker 10: a barrel today in only one week. And that's a
- 37:18Speaker 10: big price increase. Now, what will happen... when every country
- 37:29Speaker 10: depletes their strategic petroleum reserves. That's what is keeping oil
- 37:36Speaker 10: prices a lot lower than they would be if all
- 37:39Speaker 10: that oil was not made available for the market.
- 37:43Speaker 1: All right, sit tight for me. Just sit tight for me.
- 37:46Speaker 1: All right, and you as well. Back in a minute.
- 37:57Speaker 16: From ABC News, I'm Michelle Franzen. President Trump traveling to
- 38:01Speaker 16: China today telling reporters he's focused on discussing trade deals
- 38:06Speaker 16: with China's leader as well as a ceasefire deal with Iran.
- 38:09Speaker 16: Talks remain stalled on ending the war. The president brushing
- 38:12Speaker 16: off economic pressures in the latest Consumer Price Index showing
- 38:16Speaker 16: inflation has soared to a three-year high. calling those higher
- 38:19Speaker 16: costs on goods and gas temporary for Americans. Here's ABC's
- 38:23Speaker 16: Elizabeth Schulze.
- 38:23Speaker 17: The trend is going really in the wrong direction here.
- 38:26Speaker 17: Across the board, when you look at prices, those higher
- 38:28Speaker 17: fuel costs are translating to higher prices for public transportation,
- 38:33Speaker 17: for airfare. If you look at the airfare index, it's
- 38:35Speaker 17: up about 21% now. in April compared to a year before.
- 38:39Speaker 17: That's why we've seen those ticket prices going up so
- 38:41Speaker 17: much because of jet fuel costs.
- 38:42Speaker 16: The Federal Reserve Bank of New York releasing its data
- 38:45Speaker 16: report showing household debt for Americans reaching an all-time high,
- 38:50Speaker 16: $ 18. 8 trillion, in the first three months of this year.
- 38:54Speaker 16: Eighteen passengers from that Dutch cruise ship hit with the
- 38:56Speaker 16: hantavirus outbreak remain in quarantine at facilities in Nebraska and Georgia.
- 39:00Speaker 16: One person testing positive, another has developed symptoms. Officials say
- 39:04Speaker 16: the majority are asymptomatic. Passenger Jake Rosemarin says he'll stay
- 39:09Speaker 16: in Omaha for the full incubation period.
- 39:12Speaker 3: My plan right now is to stay for the full
- 39:16Speaker 3: 42 days.
- 39:16Speaker 7: I think that is the best decision that's for me
- 39:19Speaker 7: and for my family, and I know that here I'm in.
- 39:22Speaker 13: The best care possible.
- 39:23Speaker 16: A federal appeals court in New York agreed to pause
- 39:25Speaker 16: a ruling against President Trump in the E. Jean Carroll
- 39:28Speaker 16: case so he can try to take his case to
- 39:30Speaker 16: the U.S. Supreme Court. The appeals court stated its rejection
- 39:33Speaker 16: of Trump's attempt to relitigate his claims in the case
- 39:35Speaker 16: where Trump was found liable for defaming and sexually abusing Carroll.
- 39:41Speaker 16: The Senate has confirmed Kevin Warsh to serve as a
- 39:43Speaker 16: member of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors. Another vote
- 39:47Speaker 16: on his nomination to become the next Fed chair is
- 39:50Speaker 16: expected later this week. You're listening to ABC News.
- 39:53Speaker 1: 406 in the afternoon, 68 degrees, May 12th. All right, Frank,
- 40:12Speaker 1: so what's your point on it? You were talking about
- 40:14Speaker 1: inflation being high. Pick up that thought.
- 40:20Speaker 10: Well, I think it's a lot higher than 3%. But
- 40:23Speaker 10: here's more headline financial news. Why the oil crisis could
- 40:30Speaker 10: become a full-blown global catastrophe. within only a month. Now,
- 40:37Speaker 10: I also read an economist that said the good job
- 40:41Speaker 10: employment numbers that drove the market higher the other day
- 40:45Speaker 10: is bogus. He said that the increase in jobs is
- 40:49Speaker 10: not as good as the government claims. And also, I
- 40:54Speaker 10: believe if an unemployed person has not found a job
- 40:58Speaker 10: in six months, he or she is no longer considered unemployed.
- 41:04Speaker 10: You know how the government likes to..
- 41:08Speaker 1: Most of the government numbers are cooked, and they have been.
- 41:11Speaker 3: You're right.
- 41:12Speaker 1: It's like the person disappears. The inflation numbers aren't accurate.
- 41:16Speaker 1: I don't care if it's Republicans or Democrats. They're usually low,
- 41:20Speaker 1: not true inflation. And the unemployment numbers are also off.
- 41:25Speaker 1: I give you the following headlines from my CNBC ticker.
- 41:31Speaker 1: Markets raise chances for a Fed rate hike, not cut, hike,
- 41:36Speaker 1: following hot inflation reports. Traders believe inflation could near 5%
- 41:41Speaker 1: this year. It's not just Iran and oil, but inflation.
- 41:48Speaker 1: Prices also are re-accelerating in these other areas. And I mean,
- 41:55Speaker 1: as I say, the market's down today except the Dow Jones.
- 41:58Speaker 1: But the reality is Trump's quote is very disturbing to me.
- 42:01Speaker 1: I mean, it's not. I heard it when they asked
- 42:05Speaker 1: the questions. You know, there he is. It wasn't AI generated.
- 42:09Speaker 1: I'm focused on Iran and the nuclear weapon. I'm not
- 42:12Speaker 1: focused on the inflation report and basically the economy. Well,
- 42:19Speaker 1: all I'm saying is, as I sat here, well, you
- 42:22Speaker 1: better be focused on it. That should be your sole focus.
- 42:27Speaker 1: You are hurting the American people. You can't blame this
- 42:30Speaker 1: on Biden. You can't blame it on anybody. This is
- 42:32Speaker 1: yours to own, however this comes out. You own it.
- 42:38Speaker 10: Well, you know, Ron, I want to say to the
- 42:41Speaker 10: people that are pro-war, for example, G2 and others have
- 42:47Speaker 10: said a great benefit of the Iran war is the
- 42:50Speaker 10: end of OPEC oil monopoly. But you know, Ron, OPEC
- 42:54Speaker 10: was never an oil monopoly.
- 42:56Speaker 4: Yes, it was.
- 42:57Speaker 3: That's nonsense.
- 42:59Speaker 1: You know as well as I do. See, you're not
- 43:01Speaker 1: the only old fart around here. I remember all of
- 43:03Speaker 1: this stuff, too. Henry Kissinger formed OPEC, and I'll never
- 43:07Speaker 1: forgive him for that. And OPEC is nothing short of collusion.
- 43:12Speaker 1: which is illegal in the United States. They collude together
- 43:16Speaker 1: as oil-producing countries on how much they'll produce and how
- 43:20Speaker 1: much they'll put on the market to manipulate prices. I
- 43:24Speaker 1: don't understand why that's OK to do it with OPEC
- 43:27Speaker 1: and why Kissinger and everybody was saying this is illegal
- 43:30Speaker 1: in the United States. If all the steel companies got together,
- 43:32Speaker 1: car companies and colluded, it would be illegal. But somehow
- 43:36Speaker 1: it was OK for this to happen with the oil countries.
- 43:39Speaker 1: And you got a nick in the armor with with
- 43:42Speaker 1: the UAE and some of these countries that are saying
- 43:44Speaker 1: we're not following this anymore. I would love to see
- 43:47Speaker 1: OPEC disintegrate. I have zero respect for it at all.
- 43:51Speaker 10: Well, that's another debate, but let me say, how about today?
- 43:56Speaker 10: How can you have a global oil monopoly when the
- 44:00Speaker 10: largest temporary producer of oil, the United States, is not
- 44:04Speaker 10: part of your monopoly?
- 44:08Speaker 1: Well, right, but it's still, I'm just giving you the
- 44:12Speaker 1: reality that is a monopoly there in the Middle East.
- 44:17Speaker 10: Now, let me make another point about it.
- 44:19Speaker 9: Well, you're trying to get on.
- 44:20Speaker 1: My nerves with all these points because I've got to
- 44:21Speaker 1: take some other calls. That's it for today. All right.
- 44:25Speaker 1: Fort Lauderdale, Frank, you're on the air.
- 44:29Speaker 3: Hey. Hi, Ron.
- 44:31Speaker 1: Well, let's get some insight from the guru of Gerard.
- 44:36Speaker 9: Well, you know, him saying this, He's saying it's going
- 44:44Speaker 9: to come down. It's going to come down. It's kind
- 44:47Speaker 9: of like the word, like this inflation is transitory.
- 44:51Speaker 1: Yes.
- 44:55Speaker 9: Just said in Trumpese.
- 44:58Speaker 1: Well, that's what Biden, remember what Biden and his, and his, uh,
- 45:02Speaker 1: the fed chair said that what the hell was her name? I,
- 45:05Speaker 1: she said that old Janet Yellen, that old battle X. Oh,
- 45:09Speaker 1: this is inflation. It's just transitory. Absolute, totally false. It
- 45:14Speaker 1: went on for years. What a crock of crap.
- 45:16Speaker 9: I feel like there's no difference. That's what I'm saying there. Again,
- 45:20Speaker 9: it keeps reminding me this whole thing is everybody running
- 45:23Speaker 9: around stacking the chairs on the Titanic. It'll be the
- 45:28Speaker 9: last chair that goes down. It's got systematic problems.
- 45:36Speaker 1: Well, all I'm trying to do is listen. I'm not
- 45:41Speaker 1: a cheerleader, as I say, and I know you're not.
- 45:43Speaker 1: I'm not here to say Trump can do no wrong
- 45:46Speaker 1: and Democrats can do no right. I just don't partake
- 45:50Speaker 1: in that. Then it becomes ridiculous. I voted for Trump.
- 45:54Speaker 1: I would vote for him over any Democrat. I won't
- 45:56Speaker 1: vote for Sherrod Brown. I'll vote for the Republicans. Make
- 45:59Speaker 1: no mistake about it. But I can sit here and say,
- 46:03Speaker 1: what's happening economically right now, Trump, you own it. Your decisions...
- 46:09Speaker 1: I can't even imagine where the economy would have been
- 46:11Speaker 1: if we never started this deal in Iran. I mean,
- 46:14Speaker 1: we were at, what, $ 2. 50 a gallon. Inflation was going down.
- 46:18Speaker 1: Everything was going in the right direction. Everything. And I
- 46:24Speaker 1: wonder where our economy would be right now if he
- 46:26Speaker 1: never screwed with this situation in Iran. And now to
- 46:30Speaker 1: see what's happening, I ask this of you. put that
- 46:35Speaker 1: statement out of that comment out at three o'clock like
- 46:37Speaker 1: i'm solely focused on on this will you better be
- 46:40Speaker 1: focused on what's affecting your americans and why they gave
- 46:43Speaker 1: the last administration boot your thoughts i'll sit.
- 46:46Speaker 9: Back well okay i agree with most which is that
- 46:50Speaker 9: the one thing we said i'd never vote for a
- 46:52Speaker 9: democratic which you start to say at least added i'd
- 46:55Speaker 9: never vote for a democratic no currently no it because
- 47:01Speaker 9: As you see, I think Republicans and Democrats, they both
- 47:03Speaker 9: got problems.
- 47:04Speaker 10: Yes.
- 47:05Speaker 9: If somebody comes along, I don't care what.
- 47:06Speaker 6: Party they're from.
- 47:08Speaker 9: I'm also really worried. Artificial intelligence is unbelievable, Rod. And
- 47:18Speaker 9: it's just being introduced. And I think right now there's
- 47:26Speaker 9: a window of opportunity where it's learning from us, so
- 47:29Speaker 9: it cares what we have to say. And it gives
- 47:32Speaker 9: it to us for free. But the minute that it
- 47:35Speaker 9: learns enough and we no longer offer anything interesting, anything
- 47:38Speaker 9: we want from it, we will have to pay dearly for.
- 47:42Speaker 9: That will mean that certain people will have it and
- 47:45Speaker 9: certain will not. And I think that's going to be
- 47:48Speaker 9: a big problem. That's one thing I got on my mind.
- 47:52Speaker 9: And the second is..
- 47:54Speaker 1: Well, let me ask you. You're a computer guy. I mean,
- 47:57Speaker 1: do you buy it that they're saying within the next
- 47:59Speaker 1: three years you could eliminate 50% of white-collar jobs that
- 48:02Speaker 1: we're not talking?
- 48:03Speaker 9: Well, let me explain. Let me explain something. So for
- 48:06Speaker 9: a very short period of time, Ron, we have this
- 48:10Speaker 9: free technology because the tradeoff is their learning course. I
- 48:15Speaker 9: was displaced by AI. I mean, you know, I'm a contractor.
- 48:19Speaker 9: I come and I go, and the cycle went where
- 48:22Speaker 9: I was leaving, and AI was coming in, and I
- 48:25Speaker 9: started to realize... Yeah, I don't even think my job
- 48:27Speaker 9: exists anymore.
- 48:29Speaker 1: All right, Ken, now I'm going to ask you some
- 48:30Speaker 1: personal questions, and you can answer or not answer. You
- 48:33Speaker 1: have the right to remain silent. You wouldn't mind putting
- 48:35Speaker 1: your hand on a Bible, I can swear you in. But,
- 48:38Speaker 1: just kidding, okay. I'll have a brown cup instead. Right, okay,
- 48:43Speaker 1: here's my questions for you.
- 48:45Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 48:45Speaker 1: All right, and I'm not looking for specifics. But would
- 48:48Speaker 1: it be fair to say, and just answer my questions, please,
- 48:51Speaker 1: that I ask you. Would it be fair to say
- 48:54Speaker 1: that you made a substantial income with the knowledge that
- 48:57Speaker 1: you had in the computer business?
- 49:00Speaker 10: Yes.
- 49:01Speaker 1: Would it be fair to say that as a result
- 49:07Speaker 1: of AI, the work that you did that made you
- 49:12Speaker 1: a good living... has been eliminated by technology.
- 49:18Speaker 9: Not completely.
- 49:20Speaker 1: What percentage would you say of the work that you
- 49:22Speaker 1: do that you made a good living at has been
- 49:24Speaker 1: eliminated by AI?
- 49:29Speaker 9: So far I'm thinking maybe 20-25% and potentially 50% depending
- 49:37Speaker 9: on what you're doing. I mean, AI right now doesn't
- 49:40Speaker 9: come for free.
- 49:41Speaker 3: All right, but just answer my questions. I just want
- 49:43Speaker 3: to get this. So you're telling all of us, based.
- 49:44Speaker 9: Where you are today, that 25% of your work has
- 49:45Speaker 9: been eliminated by technology, by AI that's doing.
- 49:47Speaker 1: The work that you used to do. And you're saying
- 50:01Speaker 1: that you believe– just answer my questions, please. Do you
- 50:05Speaker 1: feel that the other 25%, totaling 50%, will be eliminated
- 50:09Speaker 1: within the next three years?
- 50:14Speaker 9: Yes, but let me just say this. I'm doing more things.
- 50:19Speaker 1: All right. I'm not asking you if you're expanding what
- 50:23Speaker 1: you're doing into other areas. I'm merely asking you if
- 50:28Speaker 1: what you've done and continue to do– that made you
- 50:31Speaker 1: a good living, that 50% of that is being eliminated
- 50:35Speaker 1: by AI technology. Would that be an accurate statement?
- 50:41Speaker 13: Yes.
- 50:43Speaker 1: And then would this be an accurate statement, that you
- 50:47Speaker 1: have to change your direction into another area to go
- 50:55Speaker 1: to an area that has not yet been affected by AI?
- 50:58Speaker 1: Would you agree with that statement?
- 51:02Speaker 9: Potentially unless you're one of these people that learns how
- 51:05Speaker 9: to use AI.
- 51:07Speaker 1: I'm merely asking you the question on you being able
- 51:12Speaker 1: to make a living.
- 51:12Speaker 9: If your job is information-related in any way, then I
- 51:16Speaker 9: think that it's going to be affected by it.
- 51:19Speaker 1: Do you believe that 50% of the white-collar jobs will
- 51:23Speaker 1: be affected and or eliminated within the next three years
- 51:28Speaker 1: based on AI? Yes or no?
- 51:32Speaker 9: There might be more. No, but maybe.
- 51:36Speaker 1: Well, there's a solid answer.
- 51:38Speaker 9: I'm not sure how much hype there is yet.
- 51:40Speaker 1: There's a solid answer. Yeah, but maybe. Okay, here's my
- 51:44Speaker 1: next one. Final question. No, because then it just takes
- 51:48Speaker 1: up too much time here. No, because it just does. So, well,
- 51:55Speaker 1: it does. Stop your belly aching. I'm trying to get
- 51:58Speaker 1: to the bottom of it. Final question. Do you feel
- 52:02Speaker 1: that as AI is being portrayed right now, it's being undersold,
- 52:07Speaker 1: not oversold, as far as its potential and what it
- 52:12Speaker 1: can do?
- 52:14Speaker 9: That's what I was telling you. I'm not sure. I
- 52:15Speaker 9: think it could be undersold, but it also might be,
- 52:19Speaker 9: you know, there might be limits that they're not talking
- 52:21Speaker 9: about yet.
- 52:23Speaker 1: Okay, so some of these answers are iffy, yes or no,
- 52:26Speaker 1: because I would answer my own question. Yes, I think
- 52:29Speaker 1: it's undersold, not oversold. And I think it's far better.
- 52:33Speaker 9: Taxes and AI are to appreciate, at least I think.
- 52:37Speaker 1: Well, I'm not sure if I'm done questioning you just yet. But,
- 52:42Speaker 1: you know, you squirmed because you said, well, yes, maybe,
- 52:47Speaker 1: I don't know. You know, these are yes or no questions.
- 52:49Speaker 9: Because I don't know everything.
- 52:51Speaker 1: It's just my opinion. Yeah, well, wait a second. What
- 52:53Speaker 1: do you mean you don't know everything? It's your business.
- 52:56Speaker 1: It's how you make your living. You know a hell
- 52:58Speaker 1: of a lot.
- 53:00Speaker 3: You know a lot more than most.
- 53:03Speaker 9: Every three or four years, I have to retool because,
- 53:06Speaker 9: like I said, my job is I successfully deliver a system.
- 53:10Speaker 9: It's time to find a new contract. You're keeping up
- 53:13Speaker 9: your writing.
- 53:16Speaker 1: Do you think your income can suffer substantially in the
- 53:20Speaker 1: years to come? Your phone's breaking up. I'm going to
- 53:27Speaker 1: ask that question again. Do you think your income can
- 53:30Speaker 1: change substantially lower than what you're used to based on technology?
- 53:40Speaker 9: I was thinking yes.
- 53:42Speaker 1: All right. Well, you said yes because I believe it will.
- 53:45Speaker 1: I believe it will, too. I believe that will happen
- 53:48Speaker 1: to you.
- 53:49Speaker 9: But I started learning AI and using it. And basically,
- 53:54Speaker 9: if you want to learn AI, you've got to find
- 53:56Speaker 9: a problem and use it, right?
- 53:57Speaker 2: Right.
- 53:57Speaker 9: What's the biggest problem you talk about all the time
- 54:00Speaker 9: is the size and duplicity of government, right, especially in
- 54:04Speaker 9: our area. And I started, actually, I said to AI, okay,
- 54:09Speaker 9: how would you potentially, if not regionalize the place, you know,
- 54:14Speaker 9: reduce duplicity? And it just started, I mean, it's amazing.
- 54:20Speaker 9: You should see the stuff that I'm doing, that eventually
- 54:23Speaker 9: if our data is all messed up, That's why they
- 54:27Speaker 9: do it this way. Someone does it this way. They
- 54:28Speaker 9: don't call the same thing. They name streets by nicknames
- 54:31Speaker 9: instead of how they're referenced in the real world. And
- 54:35Speaker 9: so if you go through and you use AI to
- 54:37Speaker 9: clean all that up, now we're like on par with anything.
- 54:41Speaker 9: You can make decisions. You can eliminate duplicity in services.
- 54:48Speaker 14: Ron, I made..
- 54:50Speaker 1: Let me tell you what I think the benefits of
- 54:52Speaker 1: AI will be, Mr. Computer Savvy. As you babble on
- 54:57Speaker 1: with that, that makes no sense. Here's the benefits of AI.
- 55:03Speaker 1: I can't imagine what will happen in the medical field
- 55:06Speaker 1: that could be life-changing for everybody listening with procedures that
- 55:14Speaker 1: are yet to be perfected. Let's put it that way.
- 55:17Speaker 1: I think in the medical field, and I think in the..
- 55:20Speaker 9: I can't go with that this morning, if you want
- 55:21Speaker 9: to know.
- 55:22Speaker 1: All right, hang on, hang on. Back with him and
- 55:25Speaker 1: more in a minute.
- 55:25Speaker 5: Youngstown's news, weather, and talk station, 570 WKBN.
- 55:31Speaker 4: All right, pay attention.
- 55:43Speaker 1: We're on News Radio 570 WKBN. I'm just saying that
- 55:48Speaker 1: the benefits that you'll see from AI, all the evil
- 55:52Speaker 1: that we talk about, there are benefits that will happen,
- 55:54Speaker 1: I believe, medically that can be life changers. And I
- 55:57Speaker 1: do mean life changers that will benefit many people as
- 56:03Speaker 1: far as diagnoses and procedures. And I also believe that
- 56:08Speaker 1: it would be an excellent way to stop all this
- 56:10Speaker 1: corruption if government embraces it, being able to check for
- 56:14Speaker 1: the fraud that's going on. Because AI will be able
- 56:17Speaker 1: to sort through dual addresses and be able to identify
- 56:21Speaker 1: the billions and stealing that's going on in the federal
- 56:23Speaker 1: government and state governments. But you said you had benefited medically.
- 56:27Speaker 1: Tell me on your lobotomy.
- 56:29Speaker 9: I mean, okay.
- 56:31Speaker 2: Well, that helped too.
- 56:31Speaker 9: But the drug I was injected with was used AI
- 56:40Speaker 9: to examine the DNA of the tumor and that I had,
- 56:44Speaker 9: and it was designed to fight that type of tumor.
- 56:48Speaker 9: That's one use. I go for a scan all the time, right?
- 56:54Speaker 9: And I have my chart, and it comes before you
- 56:56Speaker 9: even go see your doctor. It comes to you now. So,
- 57:02Speaker 9: you know, because I generally, like, I drive up to Cleveland.
- 57:05Speaker 9: So anyway, I take the results from it, and I
- 57:10Speaker 9: threw it into Claude, and I said, what's up? Everything
- 57:14Speaker 9: that thing said was word for word what my doctor said,
- 57:17Speaker 9: and she's a very good doctor.
- 57:18Speaker 1: Either that or she knows how to use AI, too. Right.
- 57:23Speaker 1: She might not be that good a doctor, but she
- 57:25Speaker 1: understands technology.
- 57:28Speaker 9: Well, I think she is actually a good doctor, but still,
- 57:32Speaker 9: you said how, you know, I said I dealt with
- 57:34Speaker 9: that this morning, right? Like, I think the fact that
- 57:40Speaker 9: I'm still here is because of it. And a lot
- 57:44Speaker 9: of people, it's not just me. That's why I even
- 57:46Speaker 9: asked her today. I was like, so what's the results
- 57:49Speaker 9: of this drug? You know, she said, you're experiencing what
- 57:54Speaker 9: we expect. Right.
- 57:57Speaker 1: But I mean, there's the bad side and the good
- 58:00Speaker 1: side of AI, and there will be good things that
- 58:01Speaker 1: will benefit people. And the future, I would like to think,
- 58:07Speaker 1: is tomorrow is always better than today. So there will
- 58:10Speaker 1: be benefits from AI. There's a fear factor of AI
- 58:13Speaker 1: and what it could do job-wise. But we shall see.
- 58:18Speaker 1: These changes are coming very, very, very rapidly. What was it?
- 58:22Speaker 1: Facebook met a can 10,000 people replaced with AI. That's
- 58:26Speaker 1: just the beginning. So you're going to see a lot
- 58:28Speaker 1: of that.
- 58:28Speaker 18: And..
- 58:31Speaker 1: My question always is, we're a consumer economy. If we
- 58:34Speaker 1: have a lot of people losing jobs and they are
- 58:38Speaker 1: unable to find ones close to what they had or
- 58:40Speaker 1: economically what they've had, it hurts the consumer-driven economy. It
- 58:45Speaker 1: can hurt Social Security and what's being paid into it.
- 58:48Speaker 1: There's some troubling issues, too. But that's all the time
- 58:51Speaker 1: I have for you today. This isn't AI. This is RV.
- 58:54Speaker 1: I've got to go. Okay? Thank you.
- 58:59Speaker 4: Aye, aye, aye.
- 59:00Speaker 1: From the kingdom of Mahoney, Ron Furb, back after this.
- 59:02Speaker 6: How did he sell you?
- 59:03Speaker 5: News Radio 570. WKVD. WKVN.
- 59:08Speaker 1: Sometimes it's like pulling teeth. with Michael, you know, the
- 59:11Speaker 1: guru of Gerard there. Just answer yes or no. I'll
- 59:16Speaker 1: tell you, you're on air.
- 59:18Speaker 13: Did he give you an AI, Captain?
- 59:21Speaker 1: Yes, he did.
- 59:22Speaker 13: Wow, that was pretty good. Hey, Ron, you know, we're
- 59:25Speaker 13: all in this together is pulling Amy Acton quote for
- 59:28Speaker 13: you there from 2020. So she.
- 59:32Speaker 1: Quit. Don't forget.
- 59:34Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 59:34Speaker 1: She quit.
- 59:35Speaker 13: Yeah. We're going to be all in it together, too.
- 59:37Speaker 13: And you know what it's going to be. But, you know, inflation,
- 59:42Speaker 13: you're talking about that. And this is the system we're in.
- 59:46Speaker 13: I mean, I'm not going to be a cheerleader for Trump.
- 59:48Speaker 13: I would, just like you, have never voted for Kamala Harris,
- 59:51Speaker 13: Joe Biden, or any one of them.
- 59:53Speaker 1: And as critical as we can be of Trump doesn't
- 59:55Speaker 1: mean we'll vote for a Democrat or Sherrod Brown. We're
- 59:57Speaker 1: not idiots. But I hope you heard that quote at
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: 3 o'clock in the news. It was deeply troubling to me.
- 1:00:04Speaker 9: It is.
- 1:00:04Speaker 13: But I'll tell you, there is nothing that Donald Trump
- 1:00:07Speaker 13: can do or the next president or the many that
- 1:00:10Speaker 13: have come before him that are going to do anything
- 1:00:11Speaker 13: with the rate that we're going in right now. Don't forget,
- 1:00:15Speaker 13: even if inflation is better, we're still planning. The system
- 1:00:19Speaker 13: is designed for you to lose 2% every single year. Now,
- 1:00:23Speaker 13: what happens when you lose 2% every single year over
- 1:00:26Speaker 13: your lifespan, Ron? And, you know, everybody complains about, oh,
- 1:00:29Speaker 13: the younger generation, they can't buy a house. They're not
- 1:00:32Speaker 13: the same as the older generation. They don't work as hard.
- 1:00:34Speaker 13: You know, I keep hearing that. You talk about, you
- 1:00:37Speaker 13: said on the show today, you know, the old fart
- 1:00:39Speaker 13: and the old battle ax. And that's who I blame
- 1:00:42Speaker 13: for the issue and the problem that we're in right now.
- 1:00:44Speaker 13: Look at what's been going on all these years. You know,
- 1:00:46Speaker 13: everybody who's older complains, complains, complains. But look at the
- 1:00:50Speaker 13: system that you got to be in. All you had
- 1:00:52Speaker 13: to do was just own assets. Nobody my age has
- 1:00:55Speaker 13: a pension. Nobody knows what the heck that even is
- 1:00:57Speaker 13: under the age of 40 after people out there. All right.
- 1:01:00Speaker 13: You had 10 people paying into Medicare for you to
- 1:01:03Speaker 13: get it.
- 1:01:03Speaker 14: Now I've got two.
- 1:01:05Speaker 13: You can't go buy a house. Everybody else has had
- 1:01:07Speaker 13: a house for all these years. You bought it for $ 30, 000,
- 1:01:09Speaker 13: and now it's worth $ 450, 000. Do you know why people
- 1:01:13Speaker 13: aren't in the streets rioting because of inflation? Because some
- 1:01:16Speaker 13: people are benefiting from it. If you own property, if
- 1:01:20Speaker 13: you own homes, if you own stocks, you have watched
- 1:01:23Speaker 13: them go up because of inflation. Your house has not
- 1:01:26Speaker 13: produced you any income since you bought it in 1980.
- 1:01:28Speaker 13: It has gone up in value because the dollar has
- 1:01:32Speaker 13: gone down in value. So we can say, you know, Trump,
- 1:01:35Speaker 13: he could do a lot of different things. I don't
- 1:01:37Speaker 13: think the war is helping with gas prices, obviously. It
- 1:01:39Speaker 13: doesn't take a genius to know that. It doesn't take
- 1:01:42Speaker 13: a genius to know that gas prices going up makes
- 1:01:44Speaker 13: things cost more. But until we stop producing more money
- 1:01:47Speaker 13: and printing more money and have it designed to lose 2%
- 1:01:51Speaker 13: a year, this will never get fixed. It's the problem
- 1:01:54Speaker 13: that we're in. It's just at what rate is it going.
- 1:01:57Speaker 13: And in the last six years, it's gone exponential. So, yes,
- 1:02:00Speaker 13: there are presidents that could do a worse job than others.
- 1:02:03Speaker 13: But it's always going to be like this, and it's
- 1:02:04Speaker 13: going to keep getting worse. And the problem is, again,
- 1:02:08Speaker 13: there's a lot of people who complain about it, but
- 1:02:09Speaker 13: there's a heck of a lot of people who are
- 1:02:11Speaker 13: benefiting from it. It's just like the federal government. They
- 1:02:14Speaker 13: want inflation because it's just devaluing all the debt we have.
- 1:02:18Speaker 13: They're inflating the debt away. You just keep printing into
- 1:02:20Speaker 13: oblivion so that your debt goes away. You know what
- 1:02:24Speaker 13: would happen right now if we actually went in the
- 1:02:26Speaker 13: opposite direction and we went into deflation? Our entire economy
- 1:02:30Speaker 13: would completely shut down. Inflation is there so that the
- 1:02:34Speaker 13: system keeps moving, so that you perpetually keep getting screwed.
- 1:02:37Speaker 13: The only thing is, it's harder and harder for people
- 1:02:39Speaker 13: just starting in the system. You used to be able
- 1:02:42Speaker 13: to just work really hard, and I get it. You
- 1:02:43Speaker 13: can go out and be a plumber, too. But at
- 1:02:45Speaker 13: the end of the day, you can't be a plumber
- 1:02:47Speaker 13: and have five kids like you used to have back
- 1:02:50Speaker 13: in the day. Because if you have five kids now,
- 1:02:51Speaker 13: you're either a professional athlete or you're on the dole.
- 1:02:55Speaker 13: And I mean... There's so many issues and problems, and
- 1:02:58Speaker 13: you guys just hit the nail on the head, too,
- 1:03:00Speaker 13: with AI, and that's going to change things moving forward.
- 1:03:03Speaker 13: But until we get some accountability, look at the fraud
- 1:03:06Speaker 13: that just came out in Ohio with Medicaid. Two places
- 1:03:10Speaker 13: in one zip code around Columbus that are four miles
- 1:03:13Speaker 13: apart had, like, 40% of all of Medicaid spending. Are you, like,
- 1:03:18Speaker 13: blows my mind. I want somebody to have the thing
- 1:03:22Speaker 13: I keep coming back to is consequences for something or anything.
- 1:03:25Speaker 13: Until somebody on the state level or the federal level
- 1:03:28Speaker 13: spends their entire life behind prison bars, nothing will get fixed.
- 1:03:34Speaker 13: Because the system is designed, just like Elon Musk tried
- 1:03:36Speaker 13: to get all the fraud, the system is designed for
- 1:03:39Speaker 13: the fraud to be there. I heard the other day
- 1:03:41Speaker 13: that if we even knew how to cancel all the
- 1:03:43Speaker 13: fraud and stop it tomorrow, we couldn't because it would
- 1:03:46Speaker 13: actually crater the economy. Because part of our economy in
- 1:03:50Speaker 13: this country is actually fraud. That's what keeps things moving.
- 1:03:54Speaker 13: It's that bad. And so when you get into a
- 1:03:57Speaker 13: system like that, how do you stop it?
- 1:04:00Speaker 6: I have no idea.
- 1:04:02Speaker 3: I'll tell you how you stop it.
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: I think AI can stop it because it can double
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: check on addresses and duplication and can sniff this stuff
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: out much more efficiently. Let me back up for a minute.
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: You know what I've said in the past about Elon Musk.
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: Elon Musk was doing a great job with Doge. It
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: no longer exists because the Democrats destroyed Elon Musk. The
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: Democrats support Doge. They supported it because they attacked him
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: as Hitler. They attacked him, his dealerships. They supported violence
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: against his dealerships, the firebombs. And this is the Democrats,
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: the firebombing of his dealerships, the scratching of the consumers' cars.
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: They supported all of the crap to drive Elon Musk crazy.
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: his stock going down out of his job in Washington
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: to fix this fraud. They supported all of it, and
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: they were successful. Would you agree with that?
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: They were.
- 1:05:01Speaker 13: They were 100% successful.
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: Because he left.
- 1:05:03Speaker 3: They called Trump.
- 1:05:04Speaker 13: Hitler because he was Hitler. They didn't want people to kill.
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: Him because he was Hitler.
- 1:05:08Speaker 13: They wanted to call him Hitler so that they could
- 1:05:09Speaker 13: have an excuse to kill him.
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: But they got rid of Elon Musk, and Doge came
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: to a screeching halt. And remember early on when they
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: were saying there could be $ 2 trillion... a year in America.
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: And they derailed it all to say, okay, so let's see.
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: Your tax dollars would go to these non-government agencies that
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: were headed by a bunch of political cronies that would
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: pay themselves huge salaries and hire staff and everybody got
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: paid well. They would take some of their money and
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: contribute it back to the Democrat Party. And then they
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: would take some of it and look at some... transgender
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: thing in vietnam or some nonsense like that so he
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: was exposing all of this and he had to be
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: stopped by the democrats because it stops the money from
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: going back to keep him in power it continues to
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: screw the taxpayer they destroyed the guy by destroying his
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: dealerships so they got rid of him so now we
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: take a look at minnesota and tampon tim and it
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: looks like the feds are cracking down on this stuff
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: they're going in and dealing with it people are getting
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: arrested trial's got to take place. But I can also say,
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: forget Tampon Tim, look at DeWine and how he's looking
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: the other way. I'm with you. Why isn't our auditor,
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: why hasn't he been on top of the fraud, the
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: billions that have been wasted in Ohio? Where is our
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: Attorney General? as far as the billions that have been
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: wasted in Ohio. Where was the double checking on all
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: of this? We have the same incompetence, whether they're Republicans
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: in Minnesota or Democrats in Minnesota, Republicans here, the same
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: damn incompetence going on here. So when that guy calls
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: and says, look at the billions being wasted, $ 45 billion
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: a year in what, Medicaid in Ohio? So we got
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: half of our budget going out in Medicaid. Look at
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: all the fraud. And remember the caller that said, well,
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: that fraud could have been used to support our schools
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: and lower our property taxes. Well, he's damn right. But
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: the people that could do anything about it weren't paying attention.
- 1:07:17Speaker 1: And thank God for Nick Shirley and the Nick Shirley
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: people that are trying to solve this and bring it
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: to everybody's attention and fix this damn problem.
- 1:07:29Speaker 13: It's either fraud or incompetence, and either one is not acceptable.
- 1:07:33Speaker 13: I don't know if the Republicans are in control of
- 1:07:36Speaker 13: the Ohio Congress and Senate. Bring articles of impeachment against DeWine.
- 1:07:40Speaker 13: You want to show that you're not partisan? If he's
- 1:07:42Speaker 13: not doing his job, or those he's appointing aren't doing
- 1:07:44Speaker 13: their job, somebody needs to pay the consequences for it.
- 1:07:47Speaker 13: Because what's the average IQ of a Somali refugee in Ohio?
- 1:07:51Speaker 13: I don't think it's very high. They're not doing this
- 1:07:53Speaker 13: on their own, okay? You don't come over to a
- 1:07:55Speaker 13: foreign nation and scam the country out of billions of
- 1:07:58Speaker 13: dollars doing it on your own. So somebody else is
- 1:08:01Speaker 13: doing this and helping them do it. Find out who
- 1:08:04Speaker 13: it is. I don't think, and you hit the nail
- 1:08:07Speaker 13: on the head, too, AI might help find some of
- 1:08:09Speaker 13: this fraud, but AI also might help hide a lot
- 1:08:13Speaker 13: more of it, too, because it's only as good as
- 1:08:15Speaker 13: the person whose hand it's in.
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: Yeah, but I mean, okay, so I back up with you.
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: Where were the inspectors to go out to these addresses
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: that didn't have, in Minnesota, Ohio, whatever, this hospice that
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: didn't have any patients and was getting all this money,
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: or the leering centers, or the transportation centers? or the
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: screwing of Medicaid in Ohio. And that includes, incidentally, all
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: these drug rehab places that get your money as well.
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: Where is the feet on the ground inspection to look at?
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: Does this place exist? Are there patients to actually go
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: out and see where all this money is going? Where's
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: the double checking? Where is our Secretary of State? Where
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: is the Attorney General? Where is the Governor?
- 1:09:01Speaker 13: Well, when the state screws up with all of this, okay,
- 1:09:04Speaker 13: the state can't print its own money. So they've got
- 1:09:07Speaker 13: to get the money from somewhere. So that's what they're
- 1:09:09Speaker 13: going to do in raising your taxes. So you're just
- 1:09:11Speaker 13: going to keep working harder and giving more to fraud.
- 1:09:14Speaker 13: I love when I go to work for eight hours
- 1:09:16Speaker 13: a day, and the first two hours of my day
- 1:09:18Speaker 13: are to pay for Somali refugees scamming people out that
- 1:09:21Speaker 13: actually need the money. Or it's just my money. I
- 1:09:24Speaker 13: trade my time for money. That's what I do at work.
- 1:09:26Speaker 13: I don't volunteer.
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: That Somali refugee who's come here. and steals millions of
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: dollars more than you'll make in a lifetime.
- 1:09:38Speaker 13: Well, don't cut me short there, Ron.
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: It's true, though. They'll steal more than you'll make. I mean,
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: it's ridiculous. They're sending a million dollars back to their
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: country in a suitcase every damn day.
- 1:09:51Speaker 13: So, see, this is why, again, this bill going through
- 1:09:55Speaker 13: the Senate right now, and you might be hearing it.
- 1:09:56Speaker 13: I don't know if you watched. Who's the one that Denny...
- 1:10:01Speaker 13: is obsessed with on Sundays.
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: Oh, my. Isn't it interesting? Maria Bartoloma.
- 1:10:07Speaker 14: Maria Bartoloma.
- 1:10:08Speaker 13: She had on Bernie Moreno Sunday morning. You should go
- 1:10:11Speaker 13: back and watch it because he's the biggest proponent of
- 1:10:13Speaker 13: the Clarity Act. So what it's going to do is
- 1:10:15Speaker 13: if this goes through, it's going to help way more
- 1:10:18Speaker 13: with waste, fraud, abuse than anything else because it will
- 1:10:21Speaker 13: put the U.S. dollar on a blockchain, which is fully
- 1:10:24Speaker 13: audible and transparent. They're trying to push this through even
- 1:10:27Speaker 13: further now because Iran, they're trying to get rid of
- 1:10:30Speaker 13: and go around a lot of sanctions evasion through stable coins.
- 1:10:33Speaker 13: So once this goes through, we'll be able to actually,
- 1:10:35Speaker 13: you know, crack the whip a little bit more even
- 1:10:37Speaker 13: with the U.S.
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: Dollar.
- 1:10:39Speaker 13: But that's what you need more than anything is transparency,
- 1:10:42Speaker 13: because I can't go out myself after I get home
- 1:10:45Speaker 13: from work and go find Somalian Medicaid fraud in Columbus
- 1:10:49Speaker 13: in a four-story building somewhere. But I sure can get
- 1:10:53Speaker 13: on the internet and do an audit on a blockchain
- 1:10:56Speaker 13: just like anybody else can at any point in time.
- 1:10:58Speaker 13: So when a lot of people could do it, it
- 1:11:00Speaker 13: cuts back on the people that even say, hmm, can
- 1:11:03Speaker 13: I even get away with this? When you can't even
- 1:11:05Speaker 13: get away with it, it makes the fraud harder. So yeah,
- 1:11:08Speaker 13: there's so many layers to the onion right now, it's
- 1:11:10Speaker 13: hard for people to get through. So when you talk
- 1:11:12Speaker 13: about somebody going and knocking on the door at the
- 1:11:14Speaker 13: Medicaid office, you think the government employee who's going to
- 1:11:17Speaker 13: go and rile up feathers and say, I'm going to
- 1:11:19Speaker 13: get rid of my pension so that I can bring
- 1:11:21Speaker 13: something to light and probably get fired for it?
- 1:11:24Speaker 9: Yeah, I don't think so.
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: All right, let me ask you this, Einstein, okay?
- 1:11:27Speaker 3: Are you ready?
- 1:11:27Speaker 4: Uh-huh.
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: So you heard Trump's comments, or what I paraphrased, where
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: he said at 3 o'clock, Listen, I'm solely focused on
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: Iran if they've got a nuclear weapon. I'm not thinking
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: about inflation and gas prices. So that's got to have
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: a big effect on people when they hear that because
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: they're saying, well, you might not be focused on it,
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: but we sure as hell are focused on it and
- 1:11:53Speaker 1: what it's doing to us economically as individuals. And that's
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: why we elected you. So I want you to keep
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: that in mind because I want your reaction to it
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: in addition to these headlines. From CNBC, it's not just
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: Iran and oil, but inflation going up. Prices also are
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: re-accelerating in these other areas. With inflation, they say it's 3%
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: or higher today. So we have inflation going back up.
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: We have oil going up. We have gas prices up.
- 1:12:23Speaker 1: And we have this situation in Iran. Traders believe, these
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: are headlines, inflation could near 5% this year. Markets raise
- 1:12:31Speaker 1: chances for a Fed rate up. hike following hot inflation report.
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: Not a cut, a hike. What's your thoughts about all that?
- 1:12:41Speaker 13: Well, the new Federal Reserve Chairman, I think it's today
- 1:12:45Speaker 13: or tomorrow, if he raises interest rates, you will see
- 1:12:49Speaker 13: Trump absolutely lose his complete mind. That's number one. But
- 1:12:54Speaker 13: when interest rates keep going up, that's just like, you know, Ron,
- 1:12:56Speaker 13: if I lend you $ 100, that's what our debt is.
- 1:12:59Speaker 13: We lend it out. If I lend you $ 100... And
- 1:13:02Speaker 13: I say, you've got to pay me back at 4.5%. Okay. Well,
- 1:13:07Speaker 13: if I don't think you're going to pay me back,
- 1:13:09Speaker 13: I need to make that interest rate go up. And
- 1:13:11Speaker 13: that's what's going on with our interest rate. People don't
- 1:13:14Speaker 13: think we're going to be able to pay the money back.
- 1:13:15Speaker 13: And if we do pay the money back, it's going
- 1:13:17Speaker 13: to be with deflated dollars. So when you talk about
- 1:13:20Speaker 13: interest rates, too, and I mentioned about trufflation, it takes
- 1:13:23Speaker 13: a way bigger basket of goods, services, more than the
- 1:13:26Speaker 13: things they cherry pick right now. But it just depends
- 1:13:29Speaker 13: on what you're looking at. It could be way more
- 1:13:30Speaker 13: than 3%. If you look at what potatoes have done
- 1:13:34Speaker 13: recently with the price of potatoes and the amount of
- 1:13:37Speaker 13: inflation that's gone on, it's all individual. So when you
- 1:13:40Speaker 13: put them in a basket, you can manipulate the numbers
- 1:13:43Speaker 13: each way, any way you want to. So that's not
- 1:13:46Speaker 13: going to go well, number one. And who knows what
- 1:13:50Speaker 13: the market's going to do from day to day. If
- 1:13:53Speaker 13: Trump decides something tonight on Air Force One to tweet out,
- 1:13:56Speaker 13: it could totally change the whole entire aspect. You think
- 1:13:59Speaker 13: he really wanted to go in and bomb Iran right
- 1:14:01Speaker 13: before he's going to see Xi Jinping in China? I
- 1:14:04Speaker 13: wouldn't be surprised if after wheels go up after he leaves,
- 1:14:08Speaker 13: we start a whole new round over there.
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: Yeah, but will that be successful? We did the bunker buster.
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: We bombed the living hell out of them. And they're
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: not agreeing to a lot of things.
- 1:14:22Speaker 13: You mentioned, too, you know, And I said this, too.
- 1:14:26Speaker 13: I have never gone to bed at night saying, man,
- 1:14:29Speaker 13: I really I really fear tonight Iran's going to hit
- 1:14:32Speaker 13: me with a nuclear bomb. But I also don't go
- 1:14:34Speaker 13: to bed at night fearing, man, I think I'm going
- 1:14:36Speaker 13: to have a heart attack soon. You know, I should
- 1:14:39Speaker 13: not because I'm well, you shouldn't. I shouldn't worry about it.
- 1:14:43Speaker 13: Maybe I should start eating better now so that I
- 1:14:45Speaker 13: don't have that heart attack in the future. Just like
- 1:14:47Speaker 13: right now, maybe we should deal with this right now
- 1:14:49Speaker 13: so that we don't have to deal with it in
- 1:14:50Speaker 13: the future.
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: Well, I'm going to tell you again.
- 1:14:53Speaker 13: It's the same thing.
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: I'm going to tell everybody again, just like the guy
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: who came up my driveway who said, I heard it
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: on the radio. As I say to you, sitting in
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: my pocket right here, I say this to all of you,
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: all of you listen to me. My wife makes me
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: carry this little bottle of baby aspirin. In my pocket,
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: I got it in a car. We got them all
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: over the place. Because if you start having chest pains,
- 1:15:17Speaker 1: the first thing you should do is take four of
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: these chewable baby aspirin, chew them under your tongue. Don't
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: swallow them. Chew them under your tongue. Put them there.
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: And it could very well save your life by the
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: time the ambulance gets there because they're going to do
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: that as well. It could save your life. And a
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: guy told me over the weekend, he listened, he did that,
- 1:15:35Speaker 1: and it saved his life. So if you're worried about
- 1:15:39Speaker 1: a heart attack, I tell everybody the same thing. Y'all
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: better go get some baby aspirin. Have it close.
- 1:15:44Speaker 13: Maybe you should get a life alert.
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: Get out of here.
- 1:15:50Speaker 5: The year news radio, five 70 WKBN.
- 1:15:55Speaker 4: All right.
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: Four 56 news radio, five 70 Dodie KVN and Ron verb.
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: That is, uh, that is the advice. I mean, it's, uh,
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: so all of you remember that. I mean, it's, uh,
- 1:16:08Speaker 1: it can be a game changer. when it comes to
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: your age. So as a matter of fact, she gets,
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: she gets a packet of, it's a bear baby aspirin
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: chewable at Meijer, the grocery store. And they come in
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: a little, little bottle, easy to put in your pockets
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: or put in your car. You should have several of them,
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: you know, where your bed is, where your car, you know,
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: your car in your pocket and that kind of stuff
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: is if you have chest pains that can actually save
- 1:16:36Speaker 1: your life. And, uh, So, see, I think my wife
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: really cares about me because she makes me carry that stuff.
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: And we don't have heart problems in our family, but
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: you never know. You never know when your time could come.
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: And I've had several friends, and all of a sudden
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: they get chest pain. And if you chew those baby
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: aspirin under your tongue, boom, it can save your life
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: and buy you time until the ambulance gets there because
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: they'll do that when they get there too. And so
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: something to keep in mind, gang. That's what's– That's what
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: I do because of my bride. And like I said,
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: a guy came up my driveway and said, hey, I
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: heard that. I did that. And he has had an
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: heart attack, and it saved his life. How about that?
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: Ron Verp from the kingdom of Mahoning, saving lives. I'm
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: just following directions from my bride. All right, so we'll
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: pause for the headlines at 5. I'll come back and
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: take more of your calls. Always glad you tuned in
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: on NewsRadio 570 to WKVN. We never take you for granted.
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: We always appreciate the fact that you join us here.
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: and so we can conversate and make the best of
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: the world while we're on the planet together. All right,
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: we pause for the headlines at 5. We come back,
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: take more of your calls. Then I get the shoe
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: and scoot at about 5.30 for the Guardians pregame. So
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: we'll make the best of the next half hour. If
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: you're on hold, your position's reserved, and you'll be in
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: rotation right after this quick news update from the Kingdom
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: of Mahoney. Ron Verb here.
- 1:18:05Speaker 16: From ABC News, I'm Michelle Franzen. Top Pentagon officials back
- 1:18:09Speaker 16: on Capitol Hill today briefing lawmakers on the war in
- 1:18:12Speaker 16: Iran and ballooning tax.
- 1:18:14Speaker 19: At a House hearing, the Pentagon's chief financial officer provided
- 1:18:17Speaker 19: an update to lawmakers on the growing cost of the war.
- 1:18:20Speaker 19: Jules Hurst previously said it was running upwards of $ 25 billion.
- 1:18:24Speaker 20: Now we think it's closer to $ 29 billion.
- 1:18:26Speaker 13: That's because of updated repair and replacement of equipment costs.
- 1:18:30Speaker 19: Importantly, Hearst says that estimate does not include the cost
- 1:18:33Speaker 19: of rebuilding bases damaged by Iranian missiles and attack drones.
- 1:18:37Speaker 19: Stephen Portnoy, ABC News, Washington.
- 1:18:39Speaker 16: Americans also feeling the pinch at every turn. Prices for
- 1:18:43Speaker 16: goods jumping 3.8% in April compared to a year ago.
- 1:18:46Speaker 16: Here's ABC's Elizabeth Schulze.
- 1:18:48Speaker 17: The concern here is that when you look at this
- 1:18:50Speaker 17: inflation data, now you have prices going up faster than
- 1:18:53Speaker 17: people's paychecks. So it becomes a lot harder to absorb
- 1:18:55Speaker 17: those higher prices if your salary is not also going up.
- 1:18:58Speaker 17: That had not been the case for a couple years now.
- 1:19:00Speaker 17: The fact that we're starting to see those prices outpace
- 1:19:04Speaker 17: take-home pay is really a red flag in the overall economy.
- 1:19:07Speaker 16: President Trump on his way to Beijing, set to meet
- 1:19:09Speaker 16: with China's leader this week before taking off. The president
- 1:19:12Speaker 16: confirming FDA commissioner Marty McCary is moving on.
- 1:19:16Speaker 2: Marty's a great guy.
- 1:19:17Speaker 8: He's a friend of mine.
- 1:19:18Speaker 9: He's a wonderful man.
- 1:19:19Speaker 3: And he's going to be off. And the assistant, the deputy, is.
- 1:19:25Speaker 21: Taking over temporarily until we find him.
- 1:19:27Speaker 3: Everybody wants that job.
- 1:19:28Speaker 16: Eighteen passengers from the Dutch cruise ship hit with the
- 1:19:30Speaker 16: hantavirus outbreak remain in quarantine at medical facilities in Nebraska
- 1:19:34Speaker 16: and Georgia. One couple taken to Emory University Hospital. ABC's
- 1:19:39Speaker 16: Faith Abubay is in Atlanta.
- 1:19:40Speaker 11: Specifically here in Georgia, we know the two people who
- 1:19:43Speaker 11: were brought here came on a special flight from Nebraska yesterday.
- 1:19:47Speaker 11: They arrived around midday. We're told that it's a couple,
- 1:19:51Speaker 11: and one of them is symptomatic and is being held
- 1:19:53Speaker 11: in a biocontainment unit. The other one is considered a
- 1:19:56Speaker 11: close contact but hasn't shown any kind of symptoms at all.
- 1:20:00Speaker 16: On Wall Street today, stocks ending mixed. You're listening to
- 1:20:02Speaker 16: ABC News.
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: Howdy ho, boys and girls. 507 News Radio 570 WKV8.
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: What did he say? Who the hell knows? Ron Furb
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: on News Radio 570 WKVN from the Kingdom of Mahoning.
- 1:20:17Speaker 1: Here till 5.30 tonight is when I think, I think, yes.
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: Guardians have the pregame. You're on the air.
- 1:20:26Speaker 9: Okay, I'm going to make it quick, Ron, okay?
- 1:20:29Speaker 14: Yes, go ahead.
- 1:20:30Speaker 22: Now I know how come the boss loves you. Because
- 1:20:34Speaker 22: I was watching some of the tweets that Trump did,
- 1:20:39Speaker 22: and he was really mad at Fox because they had
- 1:20:41Speaker 22: a Democrat on there, and he lost an $ 18 million
- 1:20:44Speaker 22: lawsuit against him. He's like, man, Fox is going to.
- 1:20:48Speaker 22: But one thing about you, Ron, you allow Democrats to call.
- 1:20:53Speaker 22: And you allow Democrats to say what they want to say.
- 1:20:57Speaker 22: And for that, I love the way you stand your
- 1:20:59Speaker 22: ground because people get mad at you, right? But I
- 1:21:02Speaker 22: want you to know, I appreciate you.
- 1:21:04Speaker 14: Taking my call.
- 1:21:05Speaker 2: And one more quick thing.
- 1:21:06Speaker 22: I went to an office one time.
- 1:21:09Speaker 13: The guy told me, he said, look here, man, why
- 1:21:11Speaker 13: should I keep paying you this when.
- 1:21:12Speaker 22: I can voice track it and have somebody.
- 1:21:14Speaker 14: Work from home?
- 1:21:15Speaker 22: You have to take this.
- 1:21:16Speaker 9: I lost that job.
- 1:21:17Speaker 4: Have a good day, Ron.
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: Thank you. News Radio 570 WKBN. You're on the air.
- 1:21:23Speaker 15: Hey, Ron, I'll tell you how to improve advertising revenue.
- 1:21:27Speaker 2: Give Alec his own show. That guy's great.
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: Oh, he's great. I think he adds great insight to
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: the program. Yeah, I mean, he's a quality caller. And
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: then there's you.
- 1:21:40Speaker 15: Yeah, I know, I know. You'd be able to filter
- 1:21:43Speaker 15: me out by now. Hey, but unlike, I mean, just
- 1:21:47Speaker 15: like Fort Lauderdale, Frank, I interrupted my day to call in, Ron, so..
- 1:21:53Speaker 9: Little respect, huh?
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: Well, I'm sorry. You're right.
- 1:21:57Speaker 3: I apologize.
- 1:21:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:21:59Speaker 15: Hey, you said you heard, you know, Trump on the
- 1:22:03Speaker 15: news that he said about the inflation.
- 1:22:07Speaker 9: He doesn't care.
- 1:22:07Speaker 15: I mean, the guy's got a lot going on. And
- 1:22:11Speaker 15: he also said that it's just temporary. So you kind
- 1:22:16Speaker 15: of took that out of context.
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: Okay, back up. No, back up. Say that again. You
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: thought I took Trump's quote out of context?
- 1:22:27Speaker 15: Yeah, because he said it's just temporary, you know.
- 1:22:30Speaker 14: Until the war is over. He's worried about.
- 1:22:34Speaker 15: Them having a bomb. And I think he's just worried
- 1:22:39Speaker 15: about getting this conflict over with right now. I think
- 1:22:42Speaker 15: he's trying to resolve it in some way.
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: Right, but define temporary. Remember, that was the same stuff
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: we heard from Biden with its transitory. And it wasn't temporary.
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: Let me say this to you. Like I said, under
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: no circumstances would I vote for a Democrat. I would
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: never vote for Sherrod Brown. So contrary to my criticism,
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: I would support the Republicans. They're a far better choice.
- 1:23:05Speaker 1: But the reality is you can't tell me that in
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: his own mind he didn't think this would be over
- 1:23:10Speaker 1: much sooner than it is. I'm sure he thought that
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: this would be over and not dragging on as long
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: as it is. And I am also concerned over the
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: constant rhetoric to say a deal's close, a deal's close,
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: a deal's close. With all due respect, we've heard that
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: for weeks and weeks and weeks, and nothing has materialized.
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: So now we're back to talking about doing some more bombing. Well, okay,
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: I just asked the question. If we bomb them some more,
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: do you think the deal's going to get done then?
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: Because we bombed them a hell of a lot, and
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: they're not sitting there saying, oh, we're ready to make
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: a deal. Listen, I think Iran's in a tough position
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: with their economy and not money coming in and the oil.
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: I think they're in a terrible position. But are they
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: willing to just wait it out? and let it ride
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: knowing that we don't live there. We'll have to leave.
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: Do they have that resolve? I, I don't understand their culture.
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: I can't think how I would think they think much
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: differently than I do. It's all different culture. But I
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: will say this. I will say this when they say
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: it's temporary. Well, hey, temporary doesn't ease the pain of
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: my wallet. Temporary doesn't ease $ 4. 70 gas, and it doesn't–
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: I mean, I'm not making this stuff up. I'm reading
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: it right here in front of me. Traders believe inflation
- 1:24:36Speaker 1: could near 5% this year. Markets raise chances for a
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: Fed rate hike following this hot inflation. It's not just oil,
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: but it's inflation everywhere else. Those are the headlines today.
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: on CNBC, and then I scan down and I take
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: a look at, hey, how's your 401k doing today? S &
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: P down, NASDAQ down, Russell down, Dow is up. I mean,
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: and define temporary. Is temporary six months from now? Is
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: it a year from now? I mean, what is temporary?
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: How long are you willing to say, I back up
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: and I just say, listen, I think Israel got us
- 1:25:16Speaker 1: into this mess. I genuinely do. I think they talked
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: him into it. And I don't think it's ending as
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: quick as he thought it would end. And I think
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: maybe they are thinking we got him where we want
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: him and we very well might. But maybe we've, who knows?
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: Who knows? But this can't go on for six months
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: or a year because who can afford it? both from
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: a country standpoint and an individual standpoint. Prior to him
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: doing this, I acknowledge I was not up at night
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: worried about Iran having a nuclear weapon or afraid to
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: go to sleep. That was not a major concern. And
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: I think many people are saying it now only because
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: the media has droned on it so much and is
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: almost doing a sales pitch in the Trump administration is
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: on why you should care about this. I think it
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: was of concern to Israel more than it is the
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: United States.
- 1:26:12Speaker 15: Ronny, Ronny, I don't blame you for voting for Barack
- 1:26:15Speaker 15: Hussein Obama, who started all this stuff way back in
- 1:26:19Speaker 15: the day with the coal mines and all that. But
- 1:26:24Speaker 15: that was just a slight bump on you, Ronny. I'll
- 1:26:29Speaker 15: never vote for a Democrat. You voted for the worst one.
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: You're right, because I can't stand Mitt Romney, but I
- 1:26:34Speaker 1: won't let him make that mistake again.
- 1:26:36Speaker 15: Hey, but on the, like, I guess it was the
- 1:26:40Speaker 15: 5 o'clock headlines They said that some guy, he decided
- 1:26:46Speaker 15: to commit suicide by jumping in front of like an
- 1:26:50Speaker 15: Airbus 383 jet. I mean, if you're going to go out,
- 1:26:55Speaker 15: I guess you've got to go pretty big, right?
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: Yeah, they say that the engine sucked him in. And
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: by sucking him in, it broke, actually harmed the engine.
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: by breaking all the fan blades out of it because
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: of a suck in a minute.
- 1:27:15Speaker 15: When people say that we've got to get rid of
- 1:27:17Speaker 15: guns because too many suicides, well, what's next? We're going
- 1:27:22Speaker 15: to get rid of airplanes and jets? You've got to
- 1:27:25Speaker 15: get rid of the crazy people.
- 1:27:26Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: I mean, I don't know if you're a trespasser trying
- 1:27:29Speaker 1: to commit suicide. They say suicide, but there's a much
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: easier way to go than that way. That would be
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: a horrible death.
- 1:27:36Speaker 15: Unless you want to be on the news.
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: I mean, it seemed to me you'd want to OD
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: if you want to commit suicide as opposed to saying, hey,
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: I'm going to get sucked in a jet engine. That's
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: got to hurt until it's all over. Like the one
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: guy that jumped off the freeway bridge thinking he'd end
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: his life and he jumped off the bridge and he
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: survived and he died when the truck ran him, an
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: 18-wheeler ran him over. Well, that had to hurt.
- 1:28:01Speaker 9: Well, he fulfilled his mission, I guess.
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: Yeah, but there's got to be a better way.
- 1:28:07Speaker 15: Hey, you were talking about AI and, you know, all
- 1:28:11Speaker 15: AI eliminating jobs. And then I don't know if it
- 1:28:15Speaker 15: was Arnold the other night that said that, you know,
- 1:28:19Speaker 15: once all the high-paying jobs are out of the way
- 1:28:23Speaker 15: and you're a plumber, you're not going to get a job. Well,
- 1:28:26Speaker 15: I was thinking about that, and I think the only
- 1:28:29Speaker 15: real job that you have job security in, is being
- 1:28:35Speaker 15: a medical professional, a nurse, a doctor. because people are
- 1:28:41Speaker 15: going to need them. And I think they'll always be employed.
- 1:28:46Speaker 15: I think that more petitioners, I think they're going out
- 1:28:51Speaker 15: of business because people are just getting burnt now.
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: Right, it's changed it. Funerals have gotten so expensive, a
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: lot of people just go with cremation because they can't
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: afford a funeral.
- 1:29:02Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: Let's just say economics. People have to adjust to things
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: because things become so costly.
- 1:29:08Speaker 6: But don't worry.
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: Whatever they do for you, I'll say a few kind words.
- 1:29:14Speaker 2: Well, I would hope so, Ronnie.
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: And guess what? Whatever they do, when it's your time,
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: I'll say, the unknown caller was a great contributor and
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: a great man, but... As I look at your urn,
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: I'll say, but he has to go.
- 1:29:28Speaker 9: Yeah, exactly.
- 1:29:31Speaker 15: But at least you could say I was AI, all right?
- 1:29:35Speaker 15: Almost intelligent. Okay, just put those words in there, Ronnie.
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: You got it. You got it.
- 1:29:40Speaker 2: All right, I got to go.
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: He's always got to go. I don't know why he's
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: in such a hurry. You're on the air.
- 1:29:45Speaker 14: Ronald.
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: Ted the Conservative.
- 1:29:48Speaker 14: Boy, oh boy. I try to live life and get
- 1:29:51Speaker 14: away from calling this program, and you just keep sucking
- 1:29:53Speaker 14: me back in.
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: I tell you, that's what it's all about. How's the leg, Ted?
- 1:29:59Speaker 14: Okay, the leg's good. Got some grass cut today.
- 1:30:02Speaker 3: Good.
- 1:30:03Speaker 14: I'm listening to the Ron Verb show.
- 1:30:06Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:30:06Speaker 14: I'm getting irritated. I'm like, just ignore it and go
- 1:30:10Speaker 14: about it.
- 1:30:10Speaker 3: No, no, no.
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: What seems to be bothering you? Speak your piece, please.
- 1:30:16Speaker 14: Was that the unknown caller before me?
- 1:30:18Speaker 3: Yes, it was.
- 1:30:19Speaker 14: He pointed it out. You know, the same guy who
- 1:30:23Speaker 14: voted for Barack Obama now sounds like he's still living
- 1:30:27Speaker 14: during the days of Barack Obama. You're becoming a good
- 1:30:32Speaker 14: microphone for the Democrat Party. All they've got to do
- 1:30:35Speaker 14: is listen to your monologue, if we call it that,
- 1:30:38Speaker 14: and take bits and pieces of it. Now, let's start
- 1:30:42Speaker 14: with point one. Trump's comments about not caring about anything.
- 1:30:48Speaker 14: Those were taken out of context. So I want to
- 1:30:50Speaker 14: correct you because you keep repeating the narrative that the left...
- 1:30:54Speaker 14: As soon as I heard it, I'm like, well, there
- 1:30:56Speaker 14: goes the left. They're going to take a snippet of
- 1:30:58Speaker 14: this and run it all day. Not only are they
- 1:31:00Speaker 14: doing it, but Ron Verbe's doing it. It's like I
- 1:31:03Speaker 14: take one step forward with you..
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: Well, I heard it at 3 o'clock when I'm sitting
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: in my studio chair. Explain what he said then. Go
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: ahead and explain it.
- 1:31:12Speaker 13: Stop.
- 1:31:12Speaker 14: He was being... He was being escorted to begin his
- 1:31:16Speaker 14: trip to China. And as you know, being the most
- 1:31:19Speaker 14: transparent president, not only of our lifetime, but in the
- 1:31:24Speaker 14: history of our country, he's fielding questions and answering them.
- 1:31:28Speaker 14: He's getting hit and he just keeps answering them because
- 1:31:30Speaker 14: that's who he is. He doesn't hide behind questions. people.
- 1:31:35Speaker 14: You never have to worry about what he's thinking because
- 1:31:37Speaker 14: he'll tell you. But he was getting peppered with questions
- 1:31:39Speaker 14: about Iran, the economy, some guy who just resigned from
- 1:31:45Speaker 14: the administration. And he's answering these questions as fast as
- 1:31:48Speaker 14: they're coming at him. So in a questioning about the economy,
- 1:31:55Speaker 14: it then pivoted to Iran and And then it was,
- 1:31:59Speaker 14: will you out something to the effect, and I'm not
- 1:32:01Speaker 14: quoting him, so something to the effect of, will you
- 1:32:04Speaker 14: allow the current conditions of inflation affect your decision-making with Iran?
- 1:32:11Speaker 14: And he said no. And I'm glad he said no,
- 1:32:14Speaker 14: because he's got a job to do, and the job
- 1:32:17Speaker 14: is to get rid of these nuclear weapons. So when
- 1:32:20Speaker 14: he said, I'm not going to be concerned about inflation
- 1:32:25Speaker 14: or the cost of living, he He was referring to
- 1:32:28Speaker 14: when he's making a decision with Iran. He's not telling
- 1:32:31Speaker 14: Ron Verbin and the JJs of the world that he
- 1:32:34Speaker 14: doesn't care about you. Now you got JJ thinking that's
- 1:32:37Speaker 14: what he said. And, you know, JJ and Frank and Emmanuel,
- 1:32:42Speaker 14: those guys are just looking for you to give them something.
- 1:32:44Speaker 14: You know, like you throw that bird a cracker and
- 1:32:47Speaker 14: they'll come eat and they'll run and they'll just be
- 1:32:49Speaker 14: happy and go lucky. So he did not say he
- 1:32:52Speaker 14: doesn't care about America. He said he will not let
- 1:32:56Speaker 14: any other factors affect his decision-making when it comes to Iran.
- 1:33:00Speaker 14: And that's the kind of leader I want. I don't
- 1:33:03Speaker 14: want a guy who puts his finger in the air
- 1:33:05Speaker 14: and makes a decision based on the people screaming the loudest.
- 1:33:10Speaker 14: You were talking about that yesterday. You said people are
- 1:33:12Speaker 14: against the war. Well, people are against a lot of things.
- 1:33:16Speaker 14: The loudest voice, does that make them the right voice,
- 1:33:18Speaker 14: the correct voice?
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: No.
- 1:33:20Speaker 14: And sometimes people don't have the information to make proper decisions.
- 1:33:25Speaker 14: You know, if a guy tells you, Ron, I'm going
- 1:33:28Speaker 14: to commit suicide, I'm going to go walk off this bridge.
- 1:33:33Speaker 14: Isn't it your right to try to help him and
- 1:33:35Speaker 14: save him and help him make a decision so he
- 1:33:38Speaker 14: doesn't walk off the bridge?
- 1:33:40Speaker 23: Yeah.
- 1:33:41Speaker 14: Some people can't help themselves. You know, some people are
- 1:33:44Speaker 14: just too dumb to help themselves. We elect leaders to
- 1:33:48Speaker 14: make decisions. You know, I've gotten to the point where
- 1:33:51Speaker 14: I filter out the things that really used to irritate
- 1:33:54Speaker 14: me with Trump. I remember when I was the only
- 1:33:56Speaker 14: guy who was critical of him on your program and
- 1:33:58Speaker 14: I used to get attacked by the megacalls. Well, I've grown.
- 1:34:02Speaker 14: When he calls someone a dumb person like he did today,
- 1:34:04Speaker 14: I just shake my head and I ignore it because
- 1:34:07Speaker 14: that's just who he is. Those are the kind of
- 1:34:09Speaker 14: things that upset me about Donald Trump. His narcissistic personality,
- 1:34:14Speaker 14: his stupid comments like calling reporters dumb. Those are the
- 1:34:18Speaker 14: things that bother me. But when it comes to making
- 1:34:20Speaker 14: decisions that are best for our country and America first,
- 1:34:24Speaker 14: I trust them completely. I don't worry at night when
- 1:34:26Speaker 14: I go to bed. I know he's going to do
- 1:34:28Speaker 14: the right thing. Now, today, another example, inflation, CPI. You know,
- 1:34:34Speaker 14: I really believe that the media sometimes is so anxious
- 1:34:40Speaker 14: to try to nail Trump that sometimes they don't realize
- 1:34:43Speaker 14: they're promoting him. So what do I mean when I
- 1:34:46Speaker 14: say that? OK, well, we've been telling you, I've been
- 1:34:50Speaker 14: telling you since Trump's been president, that real wages are
- 1:34:53Speaker 14: finally out gaining inflation. Nobody else was telling you that.
- 1:34:57Speaker 14: I've been telling you that for months upon months upon months.
- 1:35:00Speaker 14: The liberal media is paying the doom and gloom picture.
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: Hold that thought.
- 1:35:04Speaker 3: Hold that thought.
- 1:35:04Speaker 1: Ted, the conservative back with him after the break. Ron Verb,
- 1:35:07Speaker 1: NewsRadio 570 WQEN. 522 in the afternoon, we're at 68 degrees.
- 1:35:13Speaker 5: News Radio 570 WKBN. All right, so just to clarify,
- 1:35:17Speaker 5: just to back up here.
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: So what Trump said was he's not worried about inflation
- 1:35:26Speaker 1: or the price of gas or the price of groceries
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: when it comes to Iran and a nuclear weapon, right?
- 1:35:36Speaker 14: When it comes to making a decision on Iran... He's
- 1:35:40Speaker 14: not going to let that decision be clouded by other
- 1:35:43Speaker 14: things going on. It's Iran. You know, if you want
- 1:35:47Speaker 14: to talk about inflation, he'll talk to you about inflation.
- 1:35:51Speaker 14: He will not allow anything to distract him when it
- 1:35:53Speaker 14: comes to Iran. He won't give in. He won't put
- 1:35:55Speaker 14: his finger in the air and say, well, Ron Verbe's
- 1:35:58Speaker 14: really beating me up because of the price of gas,
- 1:36:00Speaker 14: so I'm going to allow Iran to just have this
- 1:36:03Speaker 14: bomb and just, you know, and pray that another 9-11
- 1:36:06Speaker 14: doesn't happen. So he's not listening to guys like you
- 1:36:08Speaker 14: screaming at him every day. He's going to do what
- 1:36:11Speaker 14: he thinks is right, and that's why we elect these people, right?
- 1:36:13Speaker 14: If you don't like him, vote him out of office. Hey,
- 1:36:15Speaker 14: put Kamala. If you're so upset with Donald Trump, get
- 1:36:19Speaker 14: him impeached, and let's bring in the Democrats and give
- 1:36:22Speaker 14: them back the power, because they're the ones that created
- 1:36:24Speaker 14: this mess. So I know we're going to run out
- 1:36:26Speaker 14: of time. I wanted to talk to you about current inflation,
- 1:36:29Speaker 14: wage growth. One thing they admitted when attacking him today, wow,
- 1:36:33Speaker 14: for the first time during Trump's presidency... Real wage growth
- 1:36:39Speaker 14: is outpaced by inflation. And they wouldn't tell you that
- 1:36:42Speaker 14: for the last year and a half, that wage growth
- 1:36:44Speaker 14: had outpaced inflation. But now they have an opportunity to
- 1:36:48Speaker 14: use it against them, so they say that part out loud.
- 1:36:52Speaker 24: OK?
- 1:36:52Speaker 14: Core inflation. I don't know what the heck Frank talks
- 1:36:55Speaker 14: about when he calls you sometimes, because it just doesn't
- 1:36:57Speaker 14: make sense to me. When the Federal Reserve makes decisions,
- 1:37:00Speaker 14: they don't look at CPI. CPI is a volatile index.
- 1:37:06Speaker 9: It comes out monthly.
- 1:37:08Speaker 14: It includes fuel. It includes food, who can be affected
- 1:37:13Speaker 14: by many variable outside elements. War, the price of fuel,
- 1:37:17Speaker 14: a cattle shortage that affects beef prices. OK, all those
- 1:37:22Speaker 14: things affect CPI. Your core inflation is still under 3%, 2.8%.
- 1:37:26Speaker 14: So when you cite these sources talking about inflation going
- 1:37:32Speaker 14: to 5%, I don't know what they're talking about. Core inflation? CPI?
- 1:37:37Speaker 14: Are they saying, you know, everyone kept saying that we're
- 1:37:39Speaker 14: going to have $ 200 barrel of gas, the market's going
- 1:37:42Speaker 14: to crash. Down in Columbiana, gas is $ 4. 40 a gallon.
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: All right, you'll have to pick it up from there tomorrow.
- 1:37:51Speaker 1: Thank you, Ted. Appreciate it. Guardians coming up.
- 1:37:55Speaker 25: Two in a row over the Angels, and we'll be

- 1:40:42Speaker 3: It's my play of the day.
- 1:40:44Speaker 26: Now, this is the battle of two teams who have
- 1:40:46Speaker 26: already fired their manager, and the Phillies are making it count.
- 1:40:49Speaker 26: They've won four straight series. Zach Wheeler's making it count
- 1:40:52Speaker 26: as well. He's come back from injury. His pitch count
- 1:40:54Speaker 26: continues to go up. He's gone for two straight quality starts.
- 1:40:57Speaker 26: Brian Baio has not done well. He pitched well last time,
- 1:41:00Speaker 26: but his ERA is over 7. The Phillies' bullpen is
- 1:41:03Speaker 26: better as well. Philadelphia, Moneyline, that's going to be my

- 1:41:26Speaker 3: What a job by Aleman in his major league debut.
- 1:41:30Speaker 3: Two shutout innings by the big right hander.
- 1:41:34Speaker 25: Welcome back to Guardians Warm Up. Franco Aleman joining us
- 1:41:37Speaker 25: after his major league debut on Sunday. Two scoreless innings
- 1:41:41Speaker 25: and Franco, I know it's something you dream about for
- 1:41:44Speaker 25: a long time and I'm going to guess that may
- 1:41:46Speaker 25: have lived up to everything you expected?
- 1:41:49Speaker 20: Best day of my life. Everything that I was hoping for.
- 1:41:52Speaker 27: Honestly, even better than I could have ever imagined. Family
- 1:41:56Speaker 27: being here, great weather, awesome fans, good crowd, day games.
- 1:42:01Speaker 20: It was great.
- 1:42:03Speaker 3: You worked so hard to get here.
- 1:42:06Speaker 25: What do you think clicked for you recently that allowed
- 1:42:09Speaker 25: you to be in position to get here and then
- 1:42:11Speaker 25: have success?
- 1:42:12Speaker 20: I think understanding the power of simplicity.
- 1:42:16Speaker 27: Because the key of the game is to be consistent
- 1:42:20Speaker 27: and realizing there's no consistency without simplicity was really powerful.
- 1:42:25Speaker 27: And what I mean by that is just simplifying my routines,
- 1:42:29Speaker 27: simplifying my approach to the game and just having a
- 1:42:32Speaker 27: ton of fun.
- 1:42:34Speaker 25: And good health has helped. How did you get to
- 1:42:37Speaker 25: a good place physically, too, to allow you to show
- 1:42:40Speaker 25: what you could do?
- 1:42:40Speaker 27: I think going back to what I was just saying,
- 1:42:42Speaker 27: simplifying my routine, my stretch, simplifying my workouts, simplifying my
- 1:42:47Speaker 27: recovery post-workouts, it made it all flow really well and
- 1:42:51Speaker 27: allowed me to keep the main thing, the main thing.
- 1:42:54Speaker 20: Which is having fun on the mountain.
- 1:42:57Speaker 25: You've been on the radar for a while just because
- 1:42:59Speaker 25: of the potential, certainly, I've What kept you going when
- 1:43:03Speaker 25: maybe times were tough and you weren't having the success
- 1:43:06Speaker 25: that you wanted?
- 1:43:07Speaker 27: Yeah, I mean, again, it's a lifelong dream I've had,
- 1:43:10Speaker 27: and I fight really hard to achieve dreams and to
- 1:43:16Speaker 27: achieve goals that I put for myself, and it's been
- 1:43:19Speaker 27: a lifelong dream since I was a kid, and my
- 1:43:22Speaker 27: parents pushed me really hard.
- 1:43:23Speaker 20: I mean, we're very poor, and we come from Cuba,
- 1:43:26Speaker 20: and we don't have.
- 1:43:27Speaker 27: Much here, so that's always been a huge motivation to...
- 1:43:32Speaker 27: do better and be better for my family and be
- 1:43:35Speaker 27: able to, I don't know, help the ones that are here,
- 1:43:38Speaker 27: help the ones that are in Cuba, have some family
- 1:43:40Speaker 27: in Spain. Like, I want to help my family out
- 1:43:43Speaker 27: and this is the best way that I can do it.
- 1:43:45Speaker 25: You mentioned being from Cuba and your first 11 years
- 1:43:48Speaker 25: were there. From a baseball standpoint, how much did you
- 1:43:52Speaker 25: do and could you do while you were there?
- 1:43:55Speaker 27: I think baseball in Cuba is very organic. You grow
- 1:43:59Speaker 27: up playing on streets with kids. As soon as you're
- 1:44:01Speaker 27: old enough to fit a uniform, you're playing in your town.
- 1:44:08Speaker 27: I've been playing for as long as I remember. I
- 1:44:10Speaker 27: was in the 9-10 trial ball team over there in Cuba.
- 1:44:16Speaker 27: I'm from the city where the Gurriel's are from, and
- 1:44:20Speaker 27: I've been a humongous baseball fan since I was a kid.
- 1:44:24Speaker 27: My screensaver is a picture when I was like eight
- 1:44:26Speaker 27: or nine with the oldest Gurriel brother, the only one
- 1:44:29Speaker 27: that I didn't make it to the big leagues. So
- 1:44:31Speaker 27: I've wanted to be a big leaguer my entire life.
- 1:44:36Speaker 3: So you come here. And you don't know much English.
- 1:44:39Speaker 25: How much English did you know and how did you
- 1:44:41Speaker 25: get up to speed and feel comfortable at an age
- 1:44:44Speaker 25: where that might not have been too easy?
- 1:44:46Speaker 20: I knew how to count to a thousand. I knew
- 1:44:49Speaker 20: all the animal names and that's about it and colors.
- 1:44:51Speaker 27: And I think my parents were just, I had really
- 1:44:54Speaker 27: tough parents growing up and they forced me to put
- 1:44:57Speaker 27: the TV in Spanish. And I played in an awesome
- 1:45:00Speaker 27: travel ball team with awesome teammates growing up that bullied
- 1:45:03Speaker 27: me a little bit when I mispronounced things.
- 1:45:05Speaker 20: And they also helped me learn how to pronounce them right.
- 1:45:08Speaker 20: And it was great. And I never liked falling behind.
- 1:45:12Speaker 27: And when I got here and I was the only
- 1:45:15Speaker 27: kid that didn't know English, like that didn't feel very good.
- 1:45:17Speaker 27: And I made sure and my parents made sure I
- 1:45:20Speaker 27: studied a lot.
- 1:45:21Speaker 25: Your wife, some cousins were here, I know, and some friends.
- 1:45:24Speaker 25: But mom was here over the weekend. And what did
- 1:45:27Speaker 25: that mean? especially after the way things went on Sunday.
- 1:45:30Speaker 27: That meant the world to me. My mom hasn't been
- 1:45:32Speaker 27: able to see me pitch since I was 20 in college,
- 1:45:35Speaker 27: so six years. My brother was four last time he
- 1:45:39Speaker 27: went to a baseball game of mine, and he probably
- 1:45:41Speaker 27: doesn't remember that, so to see him here and enjoy
- 1:45:45Speaker 27: watching me pitch well, it's awesome.
- 1:45:48Speaker 25: And you joined a Cleveland bullpen that has had a
- 1:45:50Speaker 25: great reputation the last couple of seasons. I've How much
- 1:45:54Speaker 25: do you feel that when you're at AAA, knowing that
- 1:45:56Speaker 25: you could be a part of that at some point?
- 1:45:58Speaker 20: I think you.
- 1:45:59Speaker 27: Feel the responsibility to help the bullpen as soon as
- 1:46:02Speaker 27: you sign with this organization just because it's known to
- 1:46:05Speaker 27: be such a pitcher-driven organization, pitcher-heavy, and the development of
- 1:46:10Speaker 27: pitchers in this organization is unbelievable. So I've always felt
- 1:46:13Speaker 27: the pressure to be great in the bullpen or be
- 1:46:16Speaker 27: great and be a part of good pitching staff.
- 1:46:19Speaker 25: Great day Sunday because you pitched? But you were saying earlier,
- 1:46:22Speaker 25: every day is a great day in.
- 1:46:23Speaker 3: The big leagues. What does that mean?
- 1:46:25Speaker 27: Yeah, man, I find myself pinching myself trying to wake
- 1:46:29Speaker 27: up from a dream, but it's unbelievable.
- 1:46:31Speaker 20: The facilities, the staff, the treatment, everything's unbelievable.

- 1:49:20Speaker 3: Now stay tuned.
- 1:49:20Speaker 25: When we come back, Tom Hamilton visits with Tony Arnerich,
- 1:49:23Speaker 25: bench coach, filling in once again for Stephen Vogt. That's
- 1:49:27Speaker 25: next on the Key Bank Manager Show right here on
- 1:49:30Speaker 25: the Cleveland Clinic Radio Network.
- 1:49:33Speaker 1: Because there's no safe. Like simply say Kelly Warren and associates.
- 1:49:40Speaker 3: Hi again, everybody. It's the key bank, the manager show.
- 1:49:43Speaker 3: And once again, filling in the bench coach, Tony Arnerich
- 1:49:47Speaker 3: here on the manager show, although Steven vote is here and,
- 1:49:50Speaker 3: and we'll manage the game. I'm assuming Tony, how do
- 1:49:53Speaker 3: you guys handle that?
- 1:49:54Speaker 4: Yeah, he's back.
- 1:49:55Speaker 32: So he's been chomping at the bit to get back
- 1:49:58Speaker 32: to he, he definitely does not like being out and,
- 1:50:02Speaker 32: I'm sure he'll tell you he feels like he's been
- 1:50:04Speaker 32: away for a week, even though it's been two days,
- 1:50:06Speaker 32: but there's an energy and a presence he brings in
- 1:50:09Speaker 32: our clubhouse and our dugout, and it's good to have
- 1:50:12Speaker 32: him back.
- 1:50:13Speaker 3: Tony, let's go back to last night. How big, even
- 1:50:16Speaker 3: though it ended up being 7-2, was the two-out, two-run
- 1:50:20Speaker 3: single by Brian Rocchio, and why was it big in
- 1:50:22Speaker 3: your mind in the second inning?
- 1:50:24Speaker 32: Yeah, I mean, we've obviously, people know that two days
- 1:50:27Speaker 32: before that, we left a lot of guys on base,
- 1:50:29Speaker 32: and so Whether we like to admit it or not,
- 1:50:32Speaker 32: people feel that, I don't know if you want to
- 1:50:35Speaker 32: call it pressure, but they know it's been happening the
- 1:50:39Speaker 32: last two days where we aren't getting the big hits.
- 1:50:40Speaker 32: So for him to go up there, he fell behind 0-2,
- 1:50:43Speaker 32: and then he gets a hit on a low splitter
- 1:50:46Speaker 32: that was a really tough pitch to hit. But it
- 1:50:49Speaker 32: was just good for us to get that knock and
- 1:50:51Speaker 32: then capitalize even more after that. I think it just
- 1:50:53Speaker 32: was a big, let's get the weight off our back
- 1:50:55Speaker 32: and now let's go play and not put too much
- 1:50:58Speaker 32: pressure on ourselves.
- 1:50:59Speaker 3: It seems like that's the hit you haven't had much
- 1:51:02Speaker 3: of this year, which is why most of these games
- 1:51:04Speaker 3: end up going until the ninth inning. Why does a
- 1:51:07Speaker 3: hit like that early in a game have such a
- 1:51:10Speaker 3: bearing on a game? Well, I mean, anybody will tell you,
- 1:51:13Speaker 3: you take the lead early.
- 1:51:14Speaker 32: It's a really valuable thing. And so I think it
- 1:51:16Speaker 32: just gave everybody a chance to kind of step back
- 1:51:18Speaker 32: and be like, okay, we're good.
- 1:51:20Speaker 1: We're still a good team.
- 1:51:21Speaker 32: We're still a good hitting team. You're going to go
- 1:51:24Speaker 32: through stretches in 162 of two games where you don't
- 1:51:26Speaker 32: get the big hit. And those two games, we just
- 1:51:29Speaker 32: happened to have 25 guys on base. So it's one
- 1:51:33Speaker 32: of those things where sometimes it gets blown out of proportion,
- 1:51:35Speaker 32: but at the same time, you know, our job is
- 1:51:37Speaker 32: to get in there and get hits and come through and,
- 1:51:41Speaker 32: but hitting's really hard and it's going to fluctuate up
- 1:51:43Speaker 32: and down. And so to, to have that early on,
- 1:51:46Speaker 32: I think was huge. And then to continue to capitalize
- 1:51:49Speaker 32: and have good at bats and, and not get, you know,
- 1:51:53Speaker 32: where we're trying to do too much. I think it
- 1:51:55Speaker 32: showed last night that we were willing to take the
- 1:51:56Speaker 32: walk and, And then we have guys that got up
- 1:51:59Speaker 32: and got some hits.
- 1:51:59Speaker 3: Well, you talk about it. Ten walks, four came around
- 1:52:02Speaker 3: to score in the third inning alone. And thought it
- 1:52:05Speaker 3: was big for Stephen Kwan. First three at-bats obviously didn't
- 1:52:08Speaker 3: go the way he wanted. And then he had back-to-back walks.
- 1:52:11Speaker 3: May sound like baby steps, but it was in the
- 1:52:14Speaker 3: right direction.
- 1:52:15Speaker 32: Yeah, and that's what's hard is, you know, you look
- 1:52:18Speaker 32: at a box score, people look at how many hits
- 1:52:19Speaker 32: you had. In reality, if you can get on base
- 1:52:22Speaker 32: in this league, you're going to be very valuable. And
- 1:52:24Speaker 32: so for him not to try to do too much
- 1:52:27Speaker 32: and take his walk is really important. And then you
- 1:52:29Speaker 32: have a guy like Reese Hoskins that took three. And
- 1:52:32Speaker 32: I think that's one thing that Reese has shown as
- 1:52:33Speaker 32: a veteran, how to have a quality at bat and
- 1:52:37Speaker 32: be okay. And I hate saying be okay, but like
- 1:52:39Speaker 32: be excited about a walk. Like a walk is a
- 1:52:42Speaker 32: very productive thing. And so hopefully that can kind of
- 1:52:45Speaker 32: catapult Kwani to continue to have good quality at bats
- 1:52:48Speaker 32: and then sprinkling some hits there and get back on track.
- 1:52:51Speaker 3: You know, we always talk about hitting being contagious and,
- 1:52:54Speaker 3: can that work as well when guys start taking walks?
- 1:52:57Speaker 32: Yeah, I think you can also sense a pitcher when
- 1:52:59Speaker 32: he doesn't have it. And so it's like, okay, let's
- 1:53:01Speaker 32: shrink our zone even more. And you get into kind
- 1:53:04Speaker 32: of a 3-1 mentality no matter the count, especially before
- 1:53:08Speaker 32: two strikes. It's, I'm hunting one pitch in one spot,
- 1:53:11Speaker 32: and if he doesn't throw it there, I'm not swinging.
- 1:53:12Speaker 32: And it's not a bad approach when a guy is
- 1:53:15Speaker 32: having struggles getting in the zone, and then you force
- 1:53:17Speaker 32: him back.
- 1:53:18Speaker 23: Into the zone.
- 1:53:18Speaker 1: And that's when you hope you can make him pay.
- 1:53:20Speaker 32: And if he doesn't come back in the zone, be
- 1:53:22Speaker 32: willing to take that walk and pass the baton to
- 1:53:24Speaker 32: the next guy.
- 1:53:25Speaker 3: Slade Ciccone had signs of improvement. He was really happy
- 1:53:28Speaker 3: with his curveball and slider last time out.
- 1:53:31Speaker 32: Yeah, I mean, he's been working, you know, guys that
- 1:53:33Speaker 32: know Slade, he's not going to lack any work. He's
- 1:53:35Speaker 32: not going to have any stone unturned. And he's determined
- 1:53:39Speaker 32: to be really, really good. And his work, I think,
- 1:53:43Speaker 32: shows that. And he competes and he continues to get
- 1:53:46Speaker 32: better and The one thing is when he's in good counts,
- 1:53:49Speaker 32: he's really good, just like most pitchers in this league.
- 1:53:51Speaker 32: If you're in good counts, you're going to have success.
- 1:53:53Speaker 32: And so I think the biggest thing is just continue
- 1:53:55Speaker 32: to attack with this stuff and then compete like he does.
- 1:53:58Speaker 32: And if he's in good counts, I think we'll have
- 1:54:01Speaker 32: a good night.
- 1:54:01Speaker 3: That's Cleveland bench coach Tony Arnerich filling in for Stephen Vogt,
- 1:54:05Speaker 3: who will be here managing tonight. Stephen's still battling the laryngitis.
- 1:54:10Speaker 3: That's the Key Bank Manager Show. Tom Hamilton inviting you

- 1:54:38Speaker 25: with rookie right-hander Walbert Ureña. Off to a nice start
- 1:54:43Speaker 25: in his first season at the age of just 22.
- 1:54:46Speaker 25: This will be his fifth start of the year, seventh appearance,
- 1:54:49Speaker 25: one and three with an earned run average of 3.22.
- 1:54:53Speaker 25: He'll be opposed by Slade Ciccone. Back-to-back wins for Ciccone.
- 1:54:58Speaker 25: His first two of the season, he's 2-4 with an
- 1:55:01Speaker 25: earned run average of 6.15. And for Ciccone, this will
- 1:55:05Speaker 25: be his first start against the Angels in his major

- 2:00:18Speaker 25: in left field. Chase DeLauder, the designated hitter, bats second.
- 2:00:22Speaker 25: Jose Ramirez at third base will bat third with Kyle Manzardo,
- 2:00:26Speaker 25: the first baseman batting cleanup. Travis Bazana, the second baseman,
- 2:00:30Speaker 25: will hit fifth. Daniel Schneeman in center field hits sixth.
- 2:00:34Speaker 25: Angel Martinez, the right fielder, bats seventh. Patrick Bailey is
- 2:00:38Speaker 25: doing the catching, hitting eighth. And Brian Rocchio at shortstop
- 2:00:41Speaker 25: bats ninth, with Slade Ciccone on the mound tonight for
- 2:00:45Speaker 25: the Guardians. Those are your starting lineups. Now stay tuned
- 2:00:48Speaker 25: when we return. Tom Adelton has tonight's first pitch on
- 2:00:53Speaker 25: the Cleveland Clinic Radio Network.
- 2:00:58Speaker 24: Stadium GM, West State Street in Salem. Valentine Roofing by
- 2:01:03Speaker 24: Bernard Daniels Lumber and Home Center and by Elite Pharmacy.
- 2:01:36Speaker 3: From Progressive Field in downtown Cleveland, Ohio, it is game
- 2:01:41Speaker 3: number 44. Tonight, the Cleveland Guardians and the Los Angeles
- 2:01:47Speaker 3: Angels play in game two of this three-game series, a
- 2:01:51Speaker 3: matinee affair coming your way tomorrow afternoon. Hi again, everybody.
- 2:01:56Speaker 3: This is Tom Hamilton on an overcast night on the
- 2:02:00Speaker 3: shores of Lake Erie, along with Jim Rosenhouse and Brian Montse.
- 2:02:05Speaker 3: And much warmer than it was last night, although that's
- 2:02:08Speaker 3: not saying much. But temperature-wise, at least we've been in
- 2:02:12Speaker 3: the 60s today. And the better news, there is not
- 2:02:17Speaker 3: even a ripple in that American flag. that hangs high
- 2:02:22Speaker 3: above the bullpen areas out on the concourse in Wright Center.
- 2:02:26Speaker 3: And basically, folks, we have said it time and again,
- 2:02:30Speaker 3: it's anywhere from a 10 to maybe even a 12
- 2:02:34Speaker 3: degree difference when the wind is blowing in, or in
- 2:02:38Speaker 3: this case, when there is no breeze. And obviously, when
- 2:02:42Speaker 3: there is a breeze blowing out, that is usually the
- 2:02:45Speaker 3: sign of much warmer temperatures here in Northeast Ohio. Cleveland
- 2:02:51Speaker 3: coming in on top of the American League Central Division
- 2:02:54Speaker 3: at 22-21. That's a game and a half better than
- 2:02:58Speaker 3: the ultra-surprising Chicago White Sox who have had a terrific
- 2:03:03Speaker 3: start to their campaign. The Angels, they're the worst team
- 2:03:07Speaker 3: in the American League, and only the New York Mets
- 2:03:10Speaker 3: with a worse record in all of Major League Baseball.
- 2:03:14Speaker 3: The Angels now 16-26, and they are buried in the
- 2:03:19Speaker 3: American League West six games out of first place. The
- 2:03:24Speaker 3: umpiring crew tonight, Jeremy Rehak will call the balls and strikes.
- 2:03:29Speaker 3: Dan Iasonius, the crew chief at first. It'll be Adam
- 2:03:32Speaker 3: Beck at second. And Jonathan Parra, the third base umpire.
- 2:03:37Speaker 3: 325 down each line. It's 370 to the gap in
- 2:03:42Speaker 3: left center, 375 to right center, and 400 to dead center.
- 2:03:48Speaker 3: The 19-foot wall from the left field corner to center,
- 2:03:51Speaker 3: from the right field corner to center, 9 feet. 35,000
- 2:03:55Speaker 3: is what this ballpark now seats since it's been scaled
- 2:04:00Speaker 3: down and renovated. You have three decks that begin in
- 2:04:03Speaker 3: right center, work their way around the pole to home plate,
- 2:04:07Speaker 3: two decks from home plate down the left field line,
- 2:04:11Speaker 3: then all kinds of bleacher seats from left to straightaway
- 2:04:16Speaker 3: center field. Slade Ciccone and the Guardians take the field
- 2:04:20Speaker 3: in their home whites with a navy blue and red trim.
- 2:04:24Speaker 3: Angels go with the red jerseys tonight with the dark
- 2:04:29Speaker 3: red-white trim and gray pants. Cleveland has just absolutely dominated
- 2:04:37Speaker 3: the Angels in this ballpark, my goodness, since 2015. Cleveland
- 2:04:41Speaker 3: is 28-4, 28-4 against the Angels here at the corner.
- 2:04:52Speaker 3: of Carnegie and Ontario. For the Angels, they are under
- 2:04:56Speaker 3: the direction of rookie manager and a longtime good major
- 2:05:00Speaker 3: league catcher in Kurt Suzuki. He's got the former outstanding
- 2:05:06Speaker 3: MAAC outfielder, Adam Eaton, who had a good major league career,
- 2:05:09Speaker 3: won a World Series with Washington, started with the White Sox,
- 2:05:13Speaker 3: played at Miami of Ohio. Adam Eaton is coaching at
- 2:05:16Speaker 3: first and Keith Johnson coaching at third. Slade Ciccone trying
- 2:05:23Speaker 3: to erase what has been a nightmarish two career outings
- 2:05:27Speaker 3: against the Angels. In the two ballgames against the Angels,
- 2:05:32Speaker 3: he's given up 12 runs in seven and a third innings.
- 2:05:37Speaker 3: 0-1 career record, and if you want the numbers, an
- 2:05:40Speaker 3: earned run average of 14.73. Slade Ciccone, three fastballs, four seamer, sinker, cutter,
- 2:05:50Speaker 3: then the curve and the slider. The issue for him
- 2:05:53Speaker 3: has been getting good break on both the curve and slider.
- 2:05:57Speaker 3: He said they've really been working on reshaping the slider.
- 2:06:01Speaker 3: and he really wants more of a 12-6 curveball. He
- 2:06:05Speaker 3: felt that it was better his last time out against
- 2:06:08Speaker 3: Kansas City. The shortstop, Zach Nettle, leads it off right-hander
- 2:06:13Speaker 3: against right-hander. Ciccone does not use the windup. The set
- 2:06:18Speaker 3: and tonight's first pitch, and it's swung on and missed
- 2:06:21Speaker 3: strike one, and we're underway at the corner of Carnegie
- 2:06:24Speaker 3: and Ontario. Game time temp of 63 degrees. Netto batting. 222,
- 2:06:31Speaker 3: six homers, 18 RBIs. The pitch. A swing and a
- 2:06:37Speaker 3: foul back going two. There may not be a more
- 2:06:40Speaker 3: aggressive leadoff hitter than Zach Netto in the game of baseball.
- 2:06:45Speaker 3: He'll strike out a lot, but he is a good player. Netto,
- 2:06:53Speaker 3: one for five last night out of Campbell University. The
- 2:06:58Speaker 3: fighting camel awaits the 0-2 pitch. And it's outside. And
- 2:07:04Speaker 3: a 97-mile-an-hour fastball.
- 2:07:06Speaker 9: Wow.
- 2:07:07Speaker 3: We haven't seen that all year from Ciccone, who's also
- 2:07:10Speaker 3: really worked on the mechanics of his delivery to really
- 2:07:14Speaker 3: drive down the mound toward the plate to get better velo.
- 2:07:18Speaker 3: Now the 1-2 pitch. Down and away. Missed with that
- 2:07:22Speaker 3: cutter in the count 2-2. The curveball and the slider
- 2:07:28Speaker 3: have been the two pitches that have been hit hard
- 2:07:31Speaker 3: off Slade Ciccone. And he needs those to take hitters
- 2:07:36Speaker 3: off the fastball. Now the 2-2. Swing and a foul
- 2:07:41Speaker 3: tip into the catcher's mitt. That is worn tonight by
- 2:07:45Speaker 3: Patrick Bailey. And a strikeout on a good fastball in
- 2:07:49Speaker 3: on the hands of Netto to start tonight's ballgame. Stephen
- 2:07:53Speaker 3: Kwan in left. Daniel Schneeman patrols center, Angel Martinez in right,
- 2:07:58Speaker 3: Kyle Manzardo at first, Travis Pazana at second, Brian Rocchio
- 2:08:02Speaker 3: at short, Jose Ramirez at third, and the second start
- 2:08:06Speaker 3: behind the plate in a Cleveland uniform for Patrick Bailey.
- 2:08:10Speaker 3: Mike Trout takes, it's up high, ball one. Trout's been
- 2:08:15Speaker 3: healthy all year, and that's great news for the game
- 2:08:17Speaker 3: of baseball, and obviously even better news for the Angels.
- 2:08:22Speaker 3: The future Hall of Famer, right-handed batter in center, the pitch,
- 2:08:26Speaker 3: and he cuts and misses, threw it by him at
- 2:08:28Speaker 3: 96 miles per hour. One-on-one to count. Mike Trout batting. 248,
- 2:08:36Speaker 3: sixth in the American League with a team-high 11 homers.
- 2:08:39Speaker 3: He's knocked in 23. The pitch to him and he
- 2:08:43Speaker 3: taps it foul. Third base side by the Cleveland dugout.
- 2:08:47Speaker 3: And the count one and two. Stephen Vogt back in
- 2:08:50Speaker 3: that dugout feeling much, much better. He's having trouble with
- 2:08:54Speaker 3: his voice but able to manage tonight. And a great
- 2:08:58Speaker 3: job done by the bench coach Tony Arnerich in his absence.
- 2:09:03Speaker 3: Now the one-two delivery to Trout. Swung on, skied in
- 2:09:09Speaker 3: the air, fouled down the right side, out of play.
- 2:09:12Speaker 3: Mike Trout's in his 15th Major League season. All have
- 2:09:15Speaker 3: been spent in Anaheim. He's a lifetime 3-0-1 hitter. Seven
- 2:09:24Speaker 3: times 30 homers or more. Three times 100 RBIs or more.
- 2:09:31Speaker 3: Three times American League MVP. Four times American League MVP runner-up.
- 2:09:41Speaker 3: Now the 1-2 delivery. High and wide, 2-2. The only
- 2:09:50Speaker 3: thing Mike Trout has as a blemish on the resume,
- 2:09:55Speaker 3: a lot of injuries. But boy, is he fun to watch.
- 2:10:00Speaker 3: Now the 2-2. High, full count. He is built like
- 2:10:04Speaker 3: a middle linebacker. 6'2, 235. The difference is he runs
- 2:10:10Speaker 3: like an NFL wide receiver. Maybe not to the extent
- 2:10:15Speaker 3: he once did. Now the payoff pitch. Check swing foul
- 2:10:20Speaker 3: will do it again. Boy, there was a time that
- 2:10:24Speaker 3: Mike Trout was averaging 26 stolen bases a year. He
- 2:10:32Speaker 3: did that his first eight years in the big leagues.
- 2:10:35Speaker 3: Doesn't run nearly as much now. Need him to stay healthy.
- 2:10:39Speaker 3: The 3-2 offering. Swing and a broken bat. Jam job.
- 2:10:44Speaker 3: Bouncing towards second. Gloved by Lozano, but he can't get
- 2:10:48Speaker 3: the throw over in time. Well, there's Mike Trout still
- 2:10:51Speaker 3: showing he can get up and down that first baseline.
- 2:10:55Speaker 3: A little jam job floater. That Bazana charged at second.
- 2:10:59Speaker 3: Not much you can do. You break the bat. Takes
- 2:11:02Speaker 3: the sting out of it. And Bazana did all he
- 2:11:06Speaker 3: could to try to get Trout. He shows you he
- 2:11:08Speaker 3: can still pick him up and put him down. So
- 2:11:12Speaker 3: the infield hit brings up the first baseman, Nolan Shonawell. Batting.
- 2:11:19Speaker 23: 257.
- 2:11:19Speaker 3: Three homers. 20 RBIs. The pitch. And it's in there.
- 2:11:23Speaker 3: A called strike.
- 2:11:26Speaker 1: Biggest issue today.
- 2:11:28Speaker 3: That the Angels have had this year offensively, they just
- 2:11:33Speaker 3: don't hit well with men in scoring position. That has
- 2:11:37Speaker 3: really hurt them this year. The pitch, and it's on
- 2:11:41Speaker 3: the outer edge, 0-2 the count. Now nobody in scoring
- 2:11:45Speaker 3: position right now, but it's really been a year-long issue
- 2:11:50Speaker 3: for the Angels hitting in the clutch. And Cleveland has
- 2:11:54Speaker 3: struggled at times with that as well. Cleveland ranks eighth
- 2:11:59Speaker 3: in the American League. The Angels tenth. Now the 0-2
- 2:12:04Speaker 3: to Shanawell. The left-handed slugger takes high. The Guardians bat 240.
- 2:12:11Speaker 3: Now let's check here now. Get it back. The Guardians
- 2:12:18Speaker 3: bat 240. They're tenth in the league with men in
- 2:12:22Speaker 3: scoring position. The Angels are thirteenth at 234. Now the
- 2:12:27Speaker 3: 1-2 delivery. Rope foul down the right side by Shanawell.
- 2:12:33Speaker 3: The count, 1-2. What's amazing, the White Sox are doing
- 2:12:37Speaker 3: what they're doing, and they're the worst clutch-hitting team in
- 2:12:39Speaker 3: the American League. Batting. 216 with men in scoring position.
- 2:12:44Speaker 3: Seattle's second worst,. 225. Then the Angels,. 234. Best clutch-hitting team? Well,
- 2:12:53Speaker 3: the best team in the American League, Tampa Bay. They
- 2:12:56Speaker 3: hit 283 in the clutch. Down the one-two. Swung on.
- 2:13:01Speaker 3: Line shot to left. It's hanging up, but not long
- 2:13:03Speaker 3: enough for Kwon to get there. Throw it a second.
- 2:13:06Speaker 3: Trout goes in standing. Ball goes off the glove of
- 2:13:09Speaker 3: Bazana to the grass area on the infield. Trout thought
- 2:13:13Speaker 3: that ball might be caught. Pretty good decoy by Kwon
- 2:13:17Speaker 3: and left, but it got down, and then Trout almost
- 2:13:19Speaker 3: got forced at second. He didn't slide. He went in standing,
- 2:13:23Speaker 3: and he almost came off the base. So back-to-back singles.
- 2:13:28Speaker 3: Trout at second. Shauna well at first. Here's Jorge Soler.
- 2:13:33Speaker 3: Sixth in the American League and runs batted in. He
- 2:13:36Speaker 3: takes the strike. Soler with 28 RBIs. Hitting 226. Eight homers.
- 2:13:43Speaker 3: 28 runs batted in. Ciccone sets. Delivers way outside. And
- 2:13:55Speaker 3: the count, one and one. Stephen Kwan in left, Daniel
- 2:13:58Speaker 3: Schneeman in center, Angel Martinez in right, Kyle Manzardo at first,
- 2:14:03Speaker 3: Travis Pazana at second, Brian Arrocchio at short, Jose Ramirez
- 2:14:07Speaker 3: at third, Patrick Bailey catching. The pitch, banged foul, third
- 2:14:11Speaker 3: base side. And a one-two count on Soler. The veteran
- 2:14:16Speaker 3: DH in his 12th Major League season is first in Anaheim. Solaire.
- 2:14:35Speaker 3: At times he's been an okay outfielder, but pretty much
- 2:14:39Speaker 3: now he's strictly a DH. The set, the delivery, and
- 2:14:45Speaker 3: it missed outside, 2-2. Should make a correction. This is
- 2:14:49Speaker 3: Solaire's second year in Anaheim. Solaire out of Cuba. He
- 2:14:57Speaker 3: is still a big, strong man. 6'4, 230. The pitch.
- 2:15:03Speaker 3: Swing and a pop-up foul into the home plate area.
- 2:15:06Speaker 3: What is happening to Ciccone here, and this is where
- 2:15:10Speaker 3: the lack of a quality curve and slider have hurt him,
- 2:15:14Speaker 3: not putting hitters away with two strikes. He's already at
- 2:15:19Speaker 3: 23 pitches here in the first, and there's only one out.
- 2:15:23Speaker 3: He's getting ahead of everybody. The 2-2. Got him swinging.
- 2:15:27Speaker 3: Elevated fastball. And the second strikeout for Ciccone. The second
- 2:15:33Speaker 3: out here in the first. And that'll bring up Vaughn Grissom.
- 2:15:37Speaker 3: And Slade Ciccone was talking about that. He said, look,
- 2:15:40Speaker 3: I don't have a changeup anymore. So it's imperative that
- 2:15:45Speaker 3: I get back that good off-speed curveball and complement that
- 2:15:48Speaker 3: with a slider to take the hitter off my three fastballs.
- 2:15:54Speaker 3: But it's still a work in progress. Now can he
- 2:15:58Speaker 3: get out of the inning unscathed? Here's Vaughn Grissom at
- 2:16:01Speaker 3: second tonight. Right-handed batter takes up high. Ball one. Grissom
- 2:16:07Speaker 3: has been the Angels' best clutch hitter. A 4-67 batting
- 2:16:13Speaker 3: mark with men in scoring position. Trout in scoring position
- 2:16:17Speaker 3: at second. Shaunawell at first. Two down, Angels batting in
- 2:16:22Speaker 3: the first. No score. The 1-0 delivery to Grissom. Swing
- 2:16:28Speaker 3: and a weak bouncer to short. Charged by Rocchio. Bobbles recovers.
- 2:16:31Speaker 3: High throw. Good stretch. Good reach up by Manzardo. Inning
- 2:16:35Speaker 3: is over. Ciccone works out of it. And the Angels
- 2:16:39Speaker 3: fail to score with the Guardians coming to bat.
- 2:16:44Speaker 35: Progressive knows sports brings people together.
- 2:16:46Speaker 12: But you've got to feel bad for people who don't
- 2:16:48Speaker 12: even get it.
- 2:16:49Speaker 35: Some people will never know what it's like to see
- 2:16:51Speaker 35: their favorite team's hopes decided by a ping pong ball
- 2:16:53Speaker 35: to draft the next superstar.
- 2:16:56Speaker 7: Or not.
- 2:16:57Speaker 35: I mean, sure, it's silly for your happiness to hinge
- 2:16:59Speaker 35: on the success of a 20-year-old entry-level employee, but you
- 2:17:02Speaker 35: just can't help yourself.
- 2:17:02Speaker 5: The stress is exhilarating.

- 2:17:46Speaker 18: In 1977, Ford F-Series became the best-selling truck.
- 2:17:50Speaker 1: In America.
- 2:17:52Speaker 18: 33 million trucks later, we've kept that title every year since.
- 2:17:57Speaker 18: And that's a formula we plan on repeating. Ford F-Series.
- 2:18:01Speaker 1: Build Ford Tough.
- 2:18:03Speaker 18: The best-selling trucks in America for 49 years and counting.

- 2:18:28Speaker 6: News Radio 570 WKBN Youngstown.
- 2:18:42Speaker 3: Cleveland's going to get their first look at a really
- 2:18:45Speaker 3: good young pitching prospect as Stephen Kwan takes the high heat.
- 2:18:49Speaker 3: His name is Wolbert Ureña. 6'1, 215. Ureña delivers. Kwan
- 2:19:01Speaker 3: takes high. It's 2-0. Ureña is 22 years of age
- 2:19:06Speaker 3: out of the Dominican Republic area. He throws an upper
- 2:19:10Speaker 3: 90s four-seam fastball, an upper 90s sinker, slider, and a
- 2:19:16Speaker 3: devastating change. The pitch is in there, a strike. That
- 2:19:20Speaker 3: was his changeup. It'll be in the upper 80s to
- 2:19:24Speaker 3: low 90s. And Mark Guba's up. The longtime Major League
- 2:19:31Speaker 3: pitcher who's next door to the pitch. Swing and a
- 2:19:34Speaker 3: liner toward left field. It is getting down. Base hit.
- 2:19:37Speaker 3: Stephen Kwon. Talked about it on the manager's show. Walked
- 2:19:42Speaker 3: his last two times up last night. And those are
- 2:19:47Speaker 3: baby steps because that showed you Stephen Kwon had kind
- 2:19:51Speaker 3: of reeled back in his real feel of the strike zone.
- 2:19:57Speaker 3: And stayed patient, didn't try to do too much. Follows
- 2:20:01Speaker 3: those two walks with a leadoff hit tonight. Here's Chase
- 2:20:04Speaker 3: DeLauder DH-ing. Ureña' s pitch down low, ball one. But Mark Gubiza,
- 2:20:11Speaker 3: who was such a good pitcher, part of that 1985
- 2:20:15Speaker 3: Kansas City Royals rotation that won the World Series, he
- 2:20:21Speaker 3: was saying that Ureña will throw a changeup That is
- 2:20:26Speaker 3: so devastating. They have seen multiple hitters swing, miss, and
- 2:20:31Speaker 3: either fall down or almost fall down in the batter's box.
- 2:20:36Speaker 3: Here's the 1-0 to DeLauder. And he takes the strike.
- 2:20:40Speaker 3: There was the changeup. Cleveland's never faced Ureña before. Heck,
- 2:20:47Speaker 3: he's basically never pitched above double-A. Handful of innings in triple-A.
- 2:20:53Speaker 3: Now the 1-1 to DeLauder. And it's outside a changeup, 2-1. Ureña.
- 2:21:05Speaker 3: How good is this changeup? Teams are batting 1-0-7 off
- 2:21:11Speaker 3: his changeup this year. The 2-1. And it's low, 3-1.
- 2:21:18Speaker 3: Teams are hitting 1-43 off his four-seam fastball. But what
- 2:21:25Speaker 3: is puzzling... Teams are hitting. 455 off his sinker and.
- 2:21:31Speaker 3: 333 off his slider. The set, the pitch. Swung on
- 2:21:38Speaker 3: a bouncer to second. Grissom to second.
- 2:21:40Speaker 2: One.
- 2:21:41Speaker 3: Netto turns the double play. That's what he is so
- 2:21:45Speaker 3: capable of doing right there. Getting behind in the count.
- 2:21:51Speaker 3: and then able to get a double play ball and
- 2:21:54Speaker 3: guess what he got the double play ball off his
- 2:21:57Speaker 3: changeup that's pretty impressive for a 22 year old so
- 2:22:04Speaker 3: no score first inning bases now empty 2 down Jose
- 2:22:08Speaker 3: Ramirez at third switch hitter batting left handed he takes
- 2:22:12Speaker 3: and it's in there called strike Ramirez batting 215 6
- 2:22:17Speaker 3: homers 16 RBIs Ureña making his fifth Major League start.
- 2:22:26Speaker 3: The pitch, and it's fouled off to the left, 0-2.
- 2:22:30Speaker 3: One win, three losses, ERA 3-22. Four previous starts, twice
- 2:22:37Speaker 3: he worked out of the bullpen. He's been averaging five
- 2:22:41Speaker 3: innings to start. The 0-2, high 1-2. Now, Ureña has
- 2:22:50Speaker 3: had command issues. He walks six every nine innings. He
- 2:22:54Speaker 3: also strikes out nine. No, one-two. And strike. Oh, the
- 2:23:05Speaker 3: Angels walking off the field thought it was strike three.
- 2:23:08Speaker 3: So did I. No challenge by the Angels. They were
- 2:23:13Speaker 3: out of them last night in the third. If they
- 2:23:15Speaker 3: challenge that one, the inning is over. But they've got
- 2:23:19Speaker 3: a youngster catching. The pitch. Swing and a miss. Struck
- 2:23:23Speaker 3: him out on a changeup in the dirt. Or did
- 2:23:26Speaker 3: he foul tip it?
- 2:23:27Speaker 2: Nope.
- 2:23:28Speaker 3: He missed it. Posey just turns, walks back to the
- 2:23:31Speaker 3: third base dugout and says, I've had enough. No score
- 2:23:34Speaker 3: after one on the Cleveland Clinic Radio Network. Well, the
- 2:23:47Speaker 3: longtime Chicago White Sox, whom Cleveland at one time would
- 2:23:53Speaker 3: be seeing 19 times a year. Yohan Moncada leads off
- 2:23:59Speaker 3: and Slade Ciccone misses outside.
- 2:24:01Speaker 9: Ball one.
- 2:24:02Speaker 3: No score. This is inning number two from downtown Cleveland.
- 2:24:11Speaker 3: Ciccone lets it fly. Moncada batting left-handed, fouling it back.
- 2:24:16Speaker 3: Moncada having another tough year. He is batting 188. Three homers,
- 2:24:26Speaker 3: nine RBIs. Boy, one time he looked like a superstar
- 2:24:33Speaker 3: in the making. Now the 1-1. Swings and fouls it
- 2:24:39Speaker 3: off sweet level, third base side, 1-2. Dollar Bank, the
- 2:24:44Speaker 3: proud banking partner of the Guardians. 28 locations in Northeast
- 2:24:48Speaker 3: Ohio ready to provide solutions to help get you there. Munkata,
- 2:24:56Speaker 3: another native of Cuba. The 1-2. Down low, ball 2, 2-2.
- 2:25:06Speaker 3: Moncada coming in that Chris Sale trade between the White
- 2:25:09Speaker 3: Sox and Red Sox. That's been 10 years ago. The
- 2:25:17Speaker 3: pitch swung on, line shot to left center, base hit.
- 2:25:21Speaker 3: So Moncada with the third hit of the night off
- 2:25:24Speaker 3: Slade Ciccone. And that'll bring up the right fielder, Joe Adele.
- 2:25:30Speaker 3: Adele up to a heck of a start. 279 batting mark,
- 2:25:36Speaker 3: six overs, 24 RBIs. And Adele is a guy that
- 2:25:46Speaker 3: has faced Slade Ciccone three times and taken him deep twice.
- 2:25:53Speaker 3: He cuts and misses, strike one. Well, in Cleveland's batting
- 2:26:03Speaker 3: in the first four innings, it's the old Conrad score four,
- 2:26:07Speaker 3: win four new times. The 0-1 pitch. Swing and a
- 2:26:12Speaker 3: bouncer to third. Charged by Ramirez to second one. Bazana relay.
- 2:26:16Speaker 23: Got him!
- 2:26:18Speaker 3: Oh, what a double play! Turned by Ramirez and Bazana.
- 2:26:24Speaker 3: Posey charging on that difficult swoop on the short hop.
- 2:26:30Speaker 3: club through quickly to second a quick pivot by Travis
- 2:26:34Speaker 3: Pazana to turn two but the Angels do not believe
- 2:26:40Speaker 3: that it's a double play and they are going to
- 2:26:43Speaker 3: ask New York to make the definitive call on this
- 2:26:49Speaker 3: so right now two outs and the bases are empty
- 2:26:53Speaker 3: no score here in the second but when Cleveland's batting
- 2:26:57Speaker 3: Jeffrey Murphy of Tillman's to try to win the four
- 2:27:01Speaker 3: Bridgestone tires. Thanks to our friends at Conrad's Tire Express
- 2:27:06Speaker 3: and Total Car Care. Visit econrads.com to enter. Good luck
- 2:27:12Speaker 3: to Jeffrey Murphy from Talmadge. Bang, bang, play it first.
- 2:27:17Speaker 3: We'll see how New York calls it. What an effort, though,
- 2:27:21Speaker 3: by Ramirez and Bazzana. Travis Bazzana has really looked Much
- 2:27:28Speaker 3: improved on the pivot and turn at second. After the call,
- 2:27:31Speaker 3: the field is overturned. The runner is safe.
- 2:27:33Speaker 20: Los Angeles retains their challenge.
- 2:27:35Speaker 3: But the call is overturned despite the valiant effort on
- 2:27:39Speaker 3: the part of Romano. and Bassano. So, fielder's choice, Adele,
- 2:27:45Speaker 3: now at first one down, still no score. Still in
- 2:27:49Speaker 3: the top half of inning number two, and here's Josh Lowe,
- 2:27:53Speaker 3: the left-handed hitting left fielder. Lowe Having a tough start.
- 2:28:02Speaker 3: Fouling it back, strike one. He came in a three-team
- 2:28:05Speaker 3: trade with Cincinnati, the Angels, and Tampa in January. And
- 2:28:11Speaker 3: low with the Angels batting 165. Four homers, ten RBIs.
- 2:28:20Speaker 3: The pitch, outside and high, one and one. The Angels
- 2:28:24Speaker 3: have a lineup tonight. Almost mid-May and they have two
- 2:28:28Speaker 3: guys in the lineup tonight batting under 200. Angels average
- 2:28:36Speaker 3: not quite four and a half runs a game. Sixth
- 2:28:39Speaker 3: in the league in runs, fourth in homers, but lead
- 2:28:43Speaker 3: the league in strikeouts. Seventh in OPS. Now the set,
- 2:28:48Speaker 3: throw over to first and back with a dive is Adele.
- 2:28:56Speaker 3: But it's amazing what hitting in the clutch does. The
- 2:28:59Speaker 3: Angels don't do it. Tampa Bay, no great offensive team,
- 2:29:03Speaker 3: but they're the best hitting in the clutch. Best record
- 2:29:05Speaker 3: in the American League. The pitch swung on, lifted in
- 2:29:09Speaker 3: the air, medium deep center. Schneeman retires low. That is
- 2:29:14Speaker 3: out number two. And here's the youngster in his second
- 2:29:18Speaker 3: major league game, Omar Martinez. One for one. He got
- 2:29:22Speaker 3: a major league base hit his first time up here.
- 2:29:25Speaker 3: Talk about a kid that paid his dues. Eight years
- 2:29:29Speaker 3: in the minors. The first seven with the Yankees organization.
- 2:29:34Speaker 3: And now in the big leagues with the Angels. They
- 2:29:38Speaker 3: had a 2-12 at AAA Salt Lake City before the call-up.
- 2:29:43Speaker 3: The pitch, backdoored him and missed with a curve. Their
- 2:29:46Speaker 3: terrific catcher, Logan Ohapi, still on the injured list. So
- 2:29:51Speaker 3: is their other really fine catcher, Travis Darnold. So the
- 2:29:55Speaker 3: Angels trying to piece it together behind the plate. The pitch.
- 2:29:59Speaker 3: A little bit wide.
- 2:30:00Speaker 4: 2-0.
- 2:30:01Speaker 3: They're still missing. Ben Joyce who's a fireballer out of
- 2:30:07Speaker 3: their bullpen. Started Grayson. Rodriguez still not healthy. Robert Stevenson.
- 2:30:15Speaker 3: Yusei Kikuchi. That pitch sails high and wide. Check swing
- 2:30:19Speaker 3: didn't go.
- 2:30:20Speaker 36: 3-0.
- 2:30:20Speaker 10: So..
- 2:30:23Speaker 3: You have those kind of injuries to a team that's
- 2:30:28Speaker 3: borderline 500 to begin with, and you can see why
- 2:30:31Speaker 3: they're off to this start. That pitch, at the knees,
- 2:30:35Speaker 3: a strike, three and one. And boy, the Angels have
- 2:30:41Speaker 3: struggled away from the big A. They just have not
- 2:30:45Speaker 3: pitched well when they're on the road. The three-one, fouled
- 2:30:50Speaker 3: it back, full count. They swing the bats better away
- 2:30:54Speaker 3: from the big A. 36 homers on the road, 14
- 2:30:58Speaker 3: at home. But their earned run average on the road
- 2:31:03Speaker 3: as a staff is 5.5. It's more than two runs
- 2:31:07Speaker 3: higher than it is when they pitch at home. Traveling
- 2:31:11Speaker 3: time on this 3-2 pitch. No score, second inning. And
- 2:31:15Speaker 3: the pitch, a broken bat fly into shallow right center.
- 2:31:19Speaker 3: On the run, Schneeman got there to make the catch.
- 2:31:22Speaker 3: The center fielder retires Omar Martinez. This game stays scoreless
- 2:31:27Speaker 3: in the middle of inning number two on the Cleveland
- 2:31:30Speaker 3: Clinic Radio Network.
- 2:31:33Speaker 33: Our yoga instructor challenged us to find inner peace. I

- 2:33:18Speaker 5: News Radio 570 WKBN Youngstown.
- 2:33:27Speaker 3: No score. We go to the bottom half of inning
- 2:33:29Speaker 3: number two. And looking at a first pitch strike from
- 2:33:34Speaker 3: Walbert Ureña is the cleanup hitter Kyle Manzardo. The pitch.
- 2:33:45Speaker 3: check swing and a change down and away. Boy, last night,
- 2:33:49Speaker 3: this guy couldn't hit the ball better, but it was
- 2:33:53Speaker 3: so cold, so windy blowing in. Man, Sarno just didn't
- 2:33:58Speaker 3: get rewarded. He could have had at least two homers.
- 2:34:02Speaker 3: The pitch, and it's outside, 2-1. But Kyle, very matter-of-factly,
- 2:34:09Speaker 3: saying today, hey, that's April and May in Cleveland. I
- 2:34:13Speaker 3: get it. Frustrating, but Can't worry about it. Now the 2-1.
- 2:34:21Speaker 3: Swing and a miss. 2-2. Where you as a hitter
- 2:34:23Speaker 3: get in trouble as if you go, okay, now I
- 2:34:27Speaker 3: have to do something more to get rewarded since that
- 2:34:31Speaker 3: ball didn't go out. Then you change things in your
- 2:34:34Speaker 3: swing and the next thing you know you're in an
- 2:34:36Speaker 3: 0-20 skid. Here's the 2-2. High and wide. Full count.
- 2:34:42Speaker 3: When the Guardians win, Northeast Ohio Ford dealers donate $ 500
- 2:34:47Speaker 3: to Cleveland Guardians Charities to help youth sports. Ureña hasn't
- 2:34:58Speaker 3: walked anybody yet. That's been his Achilles heel. The right-hander
- 2:35:02Speaker 3: lets it fly. And it's swung on and missed. Struck
- 2:35:05Speaker 3: him out on a changeup. 92-mile-an-hour changeup. Manzardo, the second victim.
- 2:35:12Speaker 3: Here's Travis Bozzana. Travis Bozzana hitting fifth tonight. He's batting. 211.
- 2:35:20Speaker 3: His on-base percentage,.
- 2:35:24Speaker 2: 423.
- 2:35:24Speaker 3: That's more than 200 points above his batting average because
- 2:35:31Speaker 3: he's walked 12 times in 12 games. He's also 7-for-7
- 2:35:38Speaker 3: in the stolen base department. Ureña' s ready. The pitch. Outside.
- 2:35:45Speaker 10: Ball one.
- 2:35:47Speaker 3: That fastball has some run on it. Going away from
- 2:35:52Speaker 3: the left-handed hitter. Lozada, 5'11, 200 pounds, 23 years of age.
- 2:35:59Speaker 3: The pitch. And it's a little high, 2-0. You wonder
- 2:36:05Speaker 3: with a kid in his... Basically, infancy states in the
- 2:36:12Speaker 3: big leagues catching Omar Martinez. How much he'll challenge pitches?
- 2:36:17Speaker 3: The 2-0. Swing and a foul back. They've done it
- 2:36:21Speaker 3: on the minor league level, but how do you feel
- 2:36:25Speaker 3: about it on the big league level? This kid has
- 2:36:28Speaker 3: had two at-bats in his major league career. Does he
- 2:36:33Speaker 3: feel worthy of challenging Jeremy Rehak? The 2-1 pitch. Outside,
- 2:36:39Speaker 3: ball three, three and one. Well, you can see why
- 2:36:43Speaker 3: Ureña is maybe walking six a game. Whether it's his
- 2:36:48Speaker 3: changeup or fastball, it has so much movement, sometimes it
- 2:36:51Speaker 3: moves off the plate from a strike to a ball.
- 2:36:55Speaker 3: 3-1 is hit on the ground weakly. Threw him a
- 2:36:59Speaker 3: 3-1 changeup. And Bozana grounds out to the second baseman
- 2:37:03Speaker 3: who has no trouble. Grissom throwing him out. Boy, when he...
- 2:37:08Speaker 3: Needs an out pitch. The kid is going to his
- 2:37:11Speaker 3: changeup here in the first two innings tonight. Why not?
- 2:37:15Speaker 3: We told you at the outset, teams barely hitting above
- 2:37:20Speaker 3: 100 against his changeup. Two outs, no Le'Veon, no score,
- 2:37:25Speaker 3: second inning. Boy, what a difference for the Angels tonight.
- 2:37:29Speaker 3: The pitch down low, a ball. They've got a legitimate,
- 2:37:33Speaker 3: bona fide, big-time pitching prospect on the mound. And Cleveland, luckily,
- 2:37:39Speaker 3: will miss Jose Soriano. Now the pitch in their strike. Soriano,
- 2:37:47Speaker 3: a Cy Young candidate. With a record of 6-2 and
- 2:37:51Speaker 3: a 166 ERA in nine starts. The pitch. And it's
- 2:38:01Speaker 3: on the outer edge. Called strike. 1-2 the count on Schneeman.
- 2:38:05Speaker 3: Who's batting 156 in the month of May. He's dropped
- 2:38:09Speaker 3: his season average to 273. Four homers, 17 RBIs. Down
- 2:38:16Speaker 3: to 1-2. Swing and a foul at the plate. Will
- 2:38:20Speaker 3: do it again. And a ball and two strikes.
- 2:38:22Speaker 25: I tell you, you mentioned Soriano and the Angels folks
- 2:38:25Speaker 25: saying this kid is smart enough to know that he
- 2:38:28Speaker 25: follows him around, tries to mimic his routines and soak
- 2:38:32Speaker 25: up everything he can from.
- 2:38:33Speaker 3: One of the best in baseball. Down the 1-2. Down low,
- 2:38:35Speaker 3: ball 2, 2-2. Last night, Cleveland walked 10 times. None
- 2:38:51Speaker 3: so far. The 2-2. Outside. Check swing on a changeup.
- 2:38:56Speaker 3: The kid started off the mound of the dugout. Full count.
- 2:39:01Speaker 3: He'll walk back on top of the hill. The pitch.
- 2:39:12Speaker 3: Got him swinging on a changeup.
- 2:39:14Speaker 34: Wow.
- 2:39:15Speaker 3: Ureña is impressive, and that change-up is every bit as
- 2:39:21Speaker 3: good as advertised. Thirds next, no score on the Cleveland
- 2:39:25Speaker 3: Clinic Radio Network. Third inning, no score, top of the order,
- 2:39:42Speaker 3: and Zach Netto, the shortstop, the batter, fouls off the
- 2:39:45Speaker 3: first pitch, strike one. Zach Netto, in his last two seasons,
- 2:39:53Speaker 3: his first two full seasons in the big leagues, has
- 2:39:57Speaker 3: averaged 24 homers, 28 steals, 70 RBIs. Swings and misses
- 2:40:05Speaker 3: at the next pitch. And the count, 0-2. Struck out
- 2:40:09Speaker 3: swinging in the first. Slade Ciccone has struck out a pair,
- 2:40:13Speaker 3: not walking anybody. Third inning, no score. Ciccone from the set.
- 2:40:22Speaker 3: Here it comes. The 0-2. Swing and a foul. We'll
- 2:40:27Speaker 3: do it again. Guardians honor the American League champs of
- 2:40:32Speaker 3: ten years ago. Friday night. T-shirt giveaway, fireworks. Tickets at CLEGuardians.com.
- 2:40:45Speaker 3: The next delivery. And strike. Three called. Kind of a
- 2:40:48Speaker 3: delayed call, but Netto had already started for the dugout.
- 2:40:52Speaker 3: He knew. Third strikeout for Ciccone. Twice he's gotten Netto.
- 2:40:58Speaker 3: Here's Mike Trout. Infield hit his first time up. The
- 2:41:06Speaker 3: fabulous Mike Trout. The pitch to him. And he looks
- 2:41:13Speaker 3: at a good curveball. That's one of the best we
- 2:41:16Speaker 3: have seen tonight from Slade Ciccone. Nothing in one to count.
- 2:41:24Speaker 3: You better have a lot of weapons trying to get
- 2:41:26Speaker 3: this guy out. The next pitch.
- 2:41:31Speaker 14: High.
- 2:41:32Speaker 3: A ball. One and one to count. He's ready. Here
- 2:41:47Speaker 3: it comes. And it's at the top of the zone,
- 2:41:51Speaker 3: a strike. Trout not convinced, but again, nobody's challenged yet.
- 2:41:56Speaker 3: One ball and two strikes. Mike Trout, first round pick
- 2:42:08Speaker 3: back in 09. Now the set, now the delivery, and
- 2:42:13Speaker 3: it's high. And they count two and two. And to
- 2:42:20Speaker 3: this day, no scouting director will give you an honest
- 2:42:26Speaker 3: answer on the pitch.
- 2:42:29Speaker 2: Strike!
- 2:42:30Speaker 3: Three called. A delayed call. Trout out looking. How in
- 2:42:34Speaker 3: the world did Mike Trout last until the 25th pick
- 2:42:38Speaker 3: in the draft? The Angels had three picks in the
- 2:42:42Speaker 3: first round that year. He was their last pick in
- 2:42:46Speaker 3: the first round. They even passed on him twice. Incredible.
- 2:42:51Speaker 3: Two outs, nobody on. Third inning, no score. The pitch.
- 2:42:56Speaker 3: And it's swung on, lifted in the air to left
- 2:42:59Speaker 3: by Nolan Shonawell, but drifting foul. The number one pick
- 2:43:03Speaker 3: in the 0-9 draft that Trout came in was pitcher
- 2:43:07Speaker 3: Steven Strasburg for Washington. Had he not gotten hurt, might
- 2:43:12Speaker 3: have been an all-time great. The pitch up and in.
- 2:43:18Speaker 3: The people that were drafting for the Cleveland Indians back
- 2:43:22Speaker 3: then are long gone. But a lot of people's drafting
- 2:43:31Speaker 3: departments have changed with everything going on in baseball since 09.
- 2:43:36Speaker 3: Shaunawell takes a strike, but you look at the people
- 2:43:40Speaker 3: that were drafted ahead of Mike Trout, and you're like, huh?
- 2:43:45Speaker 3: Dustin Ackley, Donovan Tate, Tony Sanchez, Matt Hobgood. Those were
- 2:43:53Speaker 3: the first five in the draft. The one-two pitch. Swung on,
- 2:43:57Speaker 3: yanked to right. That's a base hit for Nolan Shonawell,
- 2:44:01Speaker 3: who's two for two. And again, it's easy to look
- 2:44:06Speaker 3: back and woulda, coulda, shoulda. But some of the other
- 2:44:09Speaker 3: first-round picks in 09 that you might remember that came
- 2:44:14Speaker 3: before Mike Trout, Mike Miner, Mike Leak, Zach Wheeler, Drew Storn.
- 2:44:25Speaker 3: Alex White was picked by Cleveland 15th. You wonder what
- 2:44:28Speaker 3: his career could have been without the finger injury. Jorge
- 2:44:32Speaker 3: Soler takes. It's a called strike. But nobody, and I
- 2:44:40Speaker 3: mean nobody, is even remotely close in that draft to
- 2:44:44Speaker 3: Mike Trout. Two down, runner on, no score, third inning.
- 2:44:49Speaker 3: The pitch leans him back, and they count one and one.
- 2:44:52Speaker 3: Cleveland will have the 19th pick in the draft this year.
- 2:44:57Speaker 3: They had a second first-round pick, but that went to
- 2:45:02Speaker 3: San Francisco in the Patrick Bailey trade. Now the pitch,
- 2:45:09Speaker 3: and it misses. A little outside, two and one. Soler
- 2:45:13Speaker 3: struck out his first time up. Boy, Ciccone throwing with
- 2:45:16Speaker 3: better velo tonight than we have seen all season. Runner on.
- 2:45:22Speaker 3: Two down for Soler. No score in the third. The pitch.
- 2:45:26Speaker 3: A swing and a bullet to left. Down the line.
- 2:45:28Speaker 14: Fair.
- 2:45:29Speaker 3: Kicks off the sidewall into the corner to Kwon. Hustling
- 2:45:32Speaker 3: to third is Shanawell. Throw to second. And a little
- 2:45:36Speaker 3: off target by Rocchio to Bazzano where they might have
- 2:45:39Speaker 3: had a play on Soler. Solaire gets his seventh double.
- 2:45:44Speaker 3: And the Angels have minutes second and third on back-to-back
- 2:45:48Speaker 3: two out hits. No scoring again. It's Vaughn Grissom. He
- 2:45:53Speaker 3: batted with two down, two on in the first when
- 2:45:55Speaker 3: he grounded out. Busy time now for Major League Amateur
- 2:46:05Speaker 3: Area Scouts hunting that talent for the draft coming up
- 2:46:08Speaker 3: in July. Conference tournaments beginning next week. The pitch, and
- 2:46:15Speaker 3: it's in their strength. Then you have the NCAA tournament selection.
- 2:46:22Speaker 3: And eventually, a trip to Omaha. Now the 0-1 pitch.
- 2:46:31Speaker 3: And Grissom swings through it, 0-2. Wonder if someday... We'll
- 2:46:38Speaker 3: see the College World Series capped off by the Major
- 2:46:41Speaker 3: League draft. It would seem to make sense, wouldn't.
- 2:46:47Speaker 2: It?
- 2:46:47Speaker 25: I think right now, the way you have it tied
- 2:46:50Speaker 25: to the All-Star game, it's almost too much for one
- 2:46:53Speaker 25: of the marquee events in baseball.
- 2:46:55Speaker 3: Now the 0-2 pitch.
- 2:46:58Speaker 9: High, 1-2.
- 2:46:59Speaker 3: Well, now it's Saturday night. So we'll have a full
- 2:47:03Speaker 3: slate of baseball on Saturday in the Major Leagues. These
- 2:47:06Speaker 3: kids getting drafted. should have the nation's attention. Does the
- 2:47:11Speaker 3: NFL play a slate of games under the college draft
- 2:47:14Speaker 3: that night? The one-two. Swing! And it is Ciccone with
- 2:47:18Speaker 3: a fist bump. 96 mile an hour heater gets Grissom.
- 2:47:23Speaker 3: Five strikeouts for Ciccone. Boy, is he throwing hard tonight.
- 2:47:28Speaker 3: No score in the middle of the third.
- 2:47:30Speaker 6: Hi, Max the Bald Eagle from Marathon here.

- 2:49:17Speaker 5: News Radio 570 WKBN Youngstown.
- 2:49:27Speaker 3: No score, bottom of the third. Angel Martinez takes one
- 2:49:31Speaker 3: underneath the arms for ball one. Good-looking youngster in Walbert Ureña,
- 2:49:37Speaker 3: 22 years of age. Boy, is he impressive. Six up.
- 2:49:45Speaker 3: One reach, double play erased. Next pitch, low, 2-0. Martinez,
- 2:49:51Speaker 3: 250 batting mark, five homers, 17 RBIs. The right-handers ready.
- 2:49:58Speaker 3: The pitch. And he went again with a changeup. It's
- 2:50:03Speaker 3: almost automatic when behind in the count tonight, he goes
- 2:50:07Speaker 3: with that low 90s changeup. Now the 2-1 pitch to Martinez.
- 2:50:14Speaker 3: A jack swing strike changeup. 2-2. Well, Carmen Grandin of
- 2:50:20Speaker 3: North Ridgeville, tonight's Hyundai Grand Slam contestant trying to win
- 2:50:25Speaker 3: the Hyundai Kona, courtesy of your Northern Ohio Hyundai dealers,
- 2:50:29Speaker 3: visit HyundaiGrandSlam.com to enter. Now the 2-2. Swung on, skied
- 2:50:36Speaker 3: in the air, fairly deep right. Near the line. Adele
- 2:50:40Speaker 3: at the wall.
- 2:50:40Speaker 20: It is gone!
- 2:50:42Speaker 3: It just kept carrying. And on Hill Martinez with his
- 2:50:48Speaker 3: sixth home run of the campaign. He hit a changeup.
- 2:50:54Speaker 3: He tried to triple up on Martinez on the changeup.
- 2:50:59Speaker 3: And he wasn't fooled this time. And Cleveland... It's the
- 2:51:04Speaker 3: second home run of the year given up by Ureña.
- 2:51:09Speaker 3: 1-0 Cleveland here in the third. Patrick Bailey to the plate.
- 2:51:14Speaker 3: Switch hitting catcher. He'll bat left-handed. The pitch. A swing
- 2:51:23Speaker 3: and a miss. Strike one. Went to the well one
- 2:51:34Speaker 3: too many times. The 0-1 to Bailey, and it's downstairs,
- 2:51:39Speaker 3: one and one to count. Bailey batting 141, a homer,
- 2:51:47Speaker 3: five RBIs with the Giants and Cleveland. The next pitch,
- 2:51:52Speaker 3: and it's in there, a strike on a changeup. This
- 2:51:57Speaker 3: kid throws his changeup more than any other pitch. And remember,
- 2:52:01Speaker 3: he throws his fastball in the upper 90s. He delivers
- 2:52:08Speaker 3: and Bailey fouling it back. He came with another changeup.
- 2:52:13Speaker 3: The count one and two. So far tonight, Ureña has
- 2:52:18Speaker 3: thrown 21 changeups. 12 sinkers, 5 fastballs, 3 sliders. The pitch,
- 2:52:28Speaker 3: swing and a foul back. That was the 98-mile-an-hour four-seam fastball.
- 2:52:34Speaker 3: And a one-two count on Bailey. Bailey doing a crash
- 2:52:41Speaker 3: course in learning this Cleveland pitching staff. The pitch, down low,
- 2:52:46Speaker 3: two and two. He'll even catch bullpens this week before
- 2:52:51Speaker 3: games just to get more familiar with all 13 pitchers.
- 2:52:57Speaker 3: And he's got two great teachers in Austin Hedges and
- 2:53:00Speaker 3: David Fry. The pitch to Bailey, and he fouled it off.
- 2:53:09Speaker 3: Good changeup that he spoiled. Patrick Bailey was a star
- 2:53:14Speaker 3: at North Carolina State University from the day he walked
- 2:53:17Speaker 3: on campus in Raleigh. Then the 13th pick in the
- 2:53:22Speaker 3: first round by the Giants six years ago. The 2-2.
- 2:53:28Speaker 3: Swung on, lined up the middle, caught by Netto! Diving
- 2:53:32Speaker 3: into center, the shortstop robbed Bailey of a base hit.
- 2:53:37Speaker 3: Nicely done by Zach Netto and Patrick Bailey robbed of
- 2:53:42Speaker 3: a base hit. One down, here's Brian Rocchio. He got
- 2:53:48Speaker 3: the big hit early last night, a two-out, two-run single
- 2:53:52Speaker 3: that eventually led to a 7-0 Cleveland lead. Rocchio batting left-handed.
- 2:54:01Speaker 3: The shortstop takes the strike. Acting manager Tony Arnerich, who
- 2:54:08Speaker 3: tonight is back as the bench coach, with Steven Vogt
- 2:54:13Speaker 3: back in the dugout. That pitch outside, one and one.
- 2:54:17Speaker 3: He said to hit Rocchio ahead in the second inning
- 2:54:19Speaker 3: with two outs. Absolutely took all the tension out of
- 2:54:24Speaker 3: that Cleveland dugout. After a rough weekend against Minnesota, hitting
- 2:54:29Speaker 3: in the clutch. The pitch. Swing and a ball that's
- 2:54:33Speaker 3: banged by the diving Sean Noel at first into right.
- 2:54:36Speaker 3: Rocio with six hits in his last two games and
- 2:54:42Speaker 3: one at bat tonight. But Tony Arnert said you could
- 2:54:47Speaker 3: just see the tension leave everybody. On that Rokio hit
- 2:54:53Speaker 3: last night where it wasn't going to be another case
- 2:54:56Speaker 3: of woulda, coulda, shoulda. And then the next inning, Cleveland
- 2:55:00Speaker 3: erupted for five. Top of the order, Stephen Kwan, single
- 2:55:05Speaker 3: to left his first time up. The set, the pitch,
- 2:55:10Speaker 3: and he takes a borderline fastball strike on the outer edge.
- 2:55:18Speaker 3: Cleveland now three hits in the game. They lead 1-0
- 2:55:21Speaker 3: here in the third. Ureña' s ready. Here it comes. A
- 2:55:27Speaker 3: throw to first instead and got off the glove of Shanawell.
- 2:55:31Speaker 3: Almost hit the umpire Dan Iasonia. Rolls onto the grass
- 2:55:35Speaker 3: and foul ground. Some of the Guardians runners are starting
- 2:55:39Speaker 3: to do this. Well, looks like they're playing the game Frogger.
- 2:55:43Speaker 3: Jumping back and forth off the bag at first. Sometimes
- 2:55:46Speaker 3: you can get caught. In between. The pitch. Up high.
- 2:55:52Speaker 3: One and one. You use it to distract the pitcher.
- 2:55:55Speaker 3: Sometimes to get a better jump if you're stealing. But
- 2:55:58Speaker 3: sometimes you can get caught going the wrong way and
- 2:56:01Speaker 3: you're a dead pigeon going back to first. Now the one-one.
- 2:56:09Speaker 3: Waved at. One ball, two strikes. Changeup. And Kwon tried
- 2:56:13Speaker 3: to hammer one into the seats and right. Now the 1-2.
- 2:56:26Speaker 3: Swung on a chopper off the plate toward first. Takes
- 2:56:29Speaker 3: a high hop. Shanawell the flip to Ureña covering for
- 2:56:33Speaker 3: the out. Rocio to second. Kwon made it close. Here's
- 2:56:37Speaker 3: Chase De Lauder. Boy, this is why this game is
- 2:56:40Speaker 3: so puzzling. Ureña, who basically hasn't pitched above double A.
- 2:56:47Speaker 3: Like I said, a handful of innings in triple A.
- 2:56:51Speaker 3: But last year in double A, In his four years
- 2:56:56Speaker 3: in the minor leagues, 15-27 with a 4.62 ERA. Big lead,
- 2:57:03Speaker 3: Rocchio draws the throw, just did get back with the dive.
- 2:57:07Speaker 3: The shortstop, Netto, cut in behind. They almost picked him off.
- 2:57:12Speaker 3: You look at those minor league numbers and you go, well,
- 2:57:14Speaker 3: how is he going to be successful on the big
- 2:57:18Speaker 3: league level? Well, he is all of that and more.
- 2:57:24Speaker 3: He is really impressive. Ureña' s ready. The pitch. Down and in,
- 2:57:31Speaker 3: ball one. De Lauder hit into a double play his
- 2:57:35Speaker 3: first time up. Chase De Lauder batting 4-0-4 over the
- 2:57:44Speaker 3: last 14 games. Down to 1-0. Down and in, ball two, 2-0. Boy,
- 2:57:53Speaker 3: the respect he's gotten in such a short period of time.
- 2:57:57Speaker 3: Chase De Lauder now being pitched to like he's Jose Ramirez. Very,
- 2:58:02Speaker 3: very carefully. Ureña, hands at the belt, lets it rip.
- 2:58:09Speaker 3: A swing and a foul. He came with a 2-0 changeup,
- 2:58:13Speaker 3: and it has just been a consistent trend. Went behind
- 2:58:17Speaker 3: in the count, he goes to the changeup. That foul
- 2:58:24Speaker 3: ball got a piece of the throwing hand. of the
- 2:58:27Speaker 3: young catcher Omar Martinez now the set by Ureña and
- 2:58:39Speaker 3: the pitch way outside and low another changeup four straight
- 2:58:52Speaker 3: changeups to Chase De Lauder three and one the count
- 2:59:02Speaker 3: He has sit changed the pitch. He took it. It
- 2:59:05Speaker 3: was a strike on a sinker. 100 miles per hour.
- 2:59:11Speaker 3: You can't guess with this guy if he's throwing that hard.
- 2:59:14Speaker 3: If you're sitting change up, you can't catch up to
- 2:59:17Speaker 3: that fastball. Now the payoff pitch. Swing and a foul
- 2:59:23Speaker 3: at the plate. Fought off another 100 mile an hour sinker.
- 2:59:28Speaker 3: Where's that been? How in the world is the opposition hitting.
- 2:59:34Speaker 3: 455 off his sinker? 1-0 Cleveland, runner at second, two down,
- 2:59:44Speaker 3: third inning. And now he steps off, grabs a handful
- 2:59:48Speaker 3: of dirt. He really hasn't developed a good breaking ball yet,
- 2:59:59Speaker 3: but does he need it? The pitch... Swing and a
- 3:00:03Speaker 3: soft fly ball twisting toward the line and left. And
- 3:00:07Speaker 3: room there to make the catch just inside the line
- 3:00:10Speaker 3: by Lowe, who hands the ball to a fan in
- 3:00:12Speaker 3: the seats. Cleveland takes the lead on the Angel Martinez-Homer.
- 3:00:16Speaker 3: 1-0 Cleveland after three.
