Latest / He's Hot but Something's Off... / HHBSO 37: David on the Atlantis Caribbean January Cruise
Transcript
- 0:01Hey listeners, David is back for another podcast and we split it
- 0:05again into two parts. This week is the first part and
- 0:08next we will be the second part. Enjoy.
- 0:10OK, we're recording that. We're.
- 0:16I'm a lot. I'm a lot not repeating
- 0:18anything. You don't have to repeat.
- 0:19Anything. Yeah, I'm not repeating.
- 0:20Anything I'm not repeating? Anything.
- 0:21I'm going to do that music again?
- 0:22Sorry, this has never happened. This has never happened before.
- 0:25Didn't happen last time. It didn't happen last time.
- 0:27Hold on. Hello.
- 0:30Welcome to He's Hot. Something's off with me.
- 0:33Just Joey. Something was off.
- 0:35Something was off. The recording was off.
- 0:37So I've got this podcasting set up here, and I'm usually pretty
- 0:43decent with it. But just now, David Lamb,
- 0:47David's here. Say hi, David, hi.
- 0:50He was giving us the Oscar performance of a lifetime.
- 0:55And then I looked down at my sound board and I noticed we
- 1:00were not recording. Yeah.
- 1:02So when you asked me about the cruise, I'm just going to say I
- 1:04just put my last e-mail, which was deleted because there's no
- 1:06proof of it. So I'm just going to say that.
- 1:10That's fine. We don't expect you to have to
- 1:12give a super detailed review of the cruise.
- 1:15But what you've been you've been talking for six useless minutes
- 1:19through no four of your own. So I'll, I'll start us off on
- 1:22this one. But yeah, I mentioned in last
- 1:25week's podcast that I was not on the cruise, but David was on the
- 1:29cruise. So now that the cruise is over,
- 1:33I did hear from a lot of people because we have a lot of friends
- 1:36that were on the cruise. Obviously, we heard from a lot
- 1:39of people that there was some sort of sickness going around.
- 1:45I think that on cruise ships there are some.
- 1:48Sometimes you get safe for like a day or two and then it's over.
- 1:50Looks like we had some of that, which is never fun, but
- 1:54sometimes on a cruise show when you have everyone in such close
- 1:56proximity, that was a thing. But as far as I can tell from my
- 2:00Instagram here in Los Angeles at home it looked like a pretty fun
- 2:04cruise. We had quite a few friends that
- 2:05were on board, but the Atlantis cruises are always fun so.
- 2:11Yeah, as I was really dramatically giving a really
- 2:14accurate, detailed 6 minute presentation about how the
- 2:18cruise was. It was good.
- 2:21That's always fun. Always fun.
- 2:23Gay. Gay.
- 2:24Disneyland for a week out of reality.
- 2:28It it is like that. It's it's like an alternate
- 2:30universe. When you go, honestly, it's
- 2:33you're you step off a plane maybe you're at a hotel the
- 2:36night before. Even when you're like at the
- 2:39port terminal. That's kind of sort of where it
- 2:41starts, I think, because when you get to the port, that's
- 2:44where you see like all like hundreds, thousands of other gay
- 2:49men of various shapes and sizes and ages and backgrounds and
- 2:53everything. And we're all like descending
- 2:56onto this port terminal and we're all like boarding in
- 3:00droves. I think that's where it kind of
- 3:02sort of hits you that, oh, this is not like regular everyday
- 3:05life. Yeah, OK, Fantasy.
- 3:08I think all the newbies had a good time and like a lot of
- 3:14rumors sort of surround this ship, but it's like almost all
- 3:18of those people aren't on it. So it's like maybe like listen
- 3:22to the people who are on it. Maybe.
- 3:25Let's talk a little bit about that because I think, I think we
- 3:28can, I mean I think we can give you can give a quote UN quote
- 3:33review of the cruise, but honestly, you know, go on to my
- 3:36YouTube channel and just check out a bunch of the after movies
- 3:39I did on that. But yeah, so switching up a
- 3:44little bit, you just told me recently that was like some
- 3:47article or like someone did a post somewhere out there
- 3:50basically about how these cruises are always just like
- 3:54filled with like people that are high, people that are doing
- 3:57drugs. People are just like having sex
- 4:00everywhere, blah, blah, blah. Basically painting the some of
- 4:04these gay cruises in an A flattering light.
- 4:09And it's like, I I don't know. So I think I read media articles
- 4:13like a few years ago, like I don't know, some whatever, I
- 4:17don't know what kind of newspaper or website or whatever
- 4:19it was. But once in a great while we do
- 4:21see like a post on social media or some sort of news article
- 4:26that kind of sort of pinks that kind of picture of those
- 4:29cruises. And you just mentioned what to
- 4:31me kind of sort of recently. And it's never like super
- 4:35flattering, basically. It's like the tone of those
- 4:37articles. I mean, I think that extends to
- 4:43like comments as well like and it goes back to my very first
- 4:48cruise. I I was so anxious in 2015
- 4:52before my first cruise. I heard all this sort of rumors
- 4:57and conjecture and then I went on for myself and then had an
- 5:03amazing time, changed my life. Then afterwards I was sort of
- 5:07reviewing what these people said and then going back, all these
- 5:10people had never been on one before.
- 5:11So I was like, oh wait, why am I listening to opinions of people
- 5:14who haven't done it. So I think it's a part of a
- 5:20broader problem where it's easy to hate on slash, be jealous of
- 5:26or just be a negative person because of, I don't know,
- 5:29insecurity or just they want to be there and it's just like it
- 5:33make make them feel better to be like, hey, that looks ships or
- 5:37hey that looks whatever. I mean you entirely turn your
- 5:40opinion. But and also I do understand
- 5:45some of the videos of this one in particular the big Oasis
- 5:48class ships where you do see like the thousands of people.
- 5:52That is very intimidating for maybe someone who is also
- 5:55introverted or is worried about social distancing.
- 5:58That I definitely understand where it's like you know that it
- 6:02looks like like my worst nightmare fine.
- 6:05You know that's I'm I'm you're not on it so cool cool story.
- 6:09Like I understand you're having me and also at least you know if
- 6:13that's where they like that looks like my worst nightmare.
- 6:15I'm like, OK, well, you do, man. That's at least that way.
- 6:18They're not, they're not trashing it.
- 6:19I guess there's all these levels you can, you know, you can opt
- 6:22in and opt out to it, but like, if you really, if you truly
- 6:26don't like. That.
- 6:28View of that space other Why do you need to comment on it?
- 6:33You can just just skip it. Or your algorithm's telling you
- 6:37something. Maybe you do are interested in
- 6:39those things. So yeah, I just think if people
- 6:43who are like looking at doing it listen to people who have
- 6:49actually done it. It might be like yes.
- 6:52Yeah, true. Or or friends.
- 6:54Or listen to first hand advice. Not people who I just like.
- 6:58I heard, I heard that. This person, I heard that
- 7:01someone jumped off. I heard that.
- 7:03And wait a second. What?
- 7:04What are you talking about? Like, Yeah, so that's all.
- 7:10Yeah, I think when it's on social media, in like a Facebook
- 7:15group or Instagram, whatever. I think when it's a comment on a
- 7:21post, on social media, I think we've had social media for long
- 7:27enough now. Facebook is like like 20 years
- 7:29old or something like that. You know, we we know that
- 7:33people. Facebook is no longer a twink.
- 7:36No. Facebook is always is no.
- 7:38Longer. I don't know exactly how old
- 7:39Facebook is Facebook. Facebook has been out for like
- 7:432020. Ish.
- 7:45It's been a long time. Facebook is almost legal.
- 7:46Facebook is in the 20s. Facebook needs to start filing
- 7:48their fucking taxes. But we've had social media long
- 7:53enough now that we know random people on the Internet will just
- 7:57leave a comment on anything and everything.
- 8:01So me personally, I don't pay a lot of attention to the comments
- 8:05because people literally will just say anything about
- 8:09everything and none of it is solicited.
- 8:12That's just kind of sort of like the comment section on almost
- 8:17anything. So I don't really pay that much
- 8:18attention to it, but I think it's a little bit different when
- 8:23you know it's a article in the media.
- 8:26It's like there's like some sort of news or some sort of public
- 8:30website that's not just like your personal blog.
- 8:32You know, if it's like an actual media article or news article or
- 8:37something like that, or you've gone to the trouble of like
- 8:41creating like a whole video that you post that's not, you know,
- 8:47that's like, you know, someone could make a whole YouTube video
- 8:51that talking about how gay cruises are bad and all that
- 8:54stuff, whatever it is, right. So that's I kind of sort of the
- 8:58comments, a comment on a post. I see that differently than if
- 9:02you actually go create a piece of content.
- 9:06You write a story, you make a video, whatever.
- 9:09When it's like that, I feel like that's really kind of sort of
- 9:12people need to, like you said, anything you see or read on the
- 9:16Internet, you got to really think about, OK, is this like
- 9:20fact or is this someone's opinion?
- 9:23Are they bias? You know, that's where I think
- 9:26like people need to kind of think for themselves whether the
- 9:31media, the content they're consuming, you know, like who is
- 9:36saying that? What's the source?
- 9:38Is that like bias, is it reliable?
- 9:40So on and so forth. But I think you can actually
- 9:42expand that to like anything you consume on the Internet, not
- 9:46just this particular topic of like someone writing an article
- 9:49or saying something about an Atlantis cruise.
- 9:51Oh 100% I think for every. I think people will love cruises
- 9:57and gay cruises are a separate entity, but also people, some
- 10:02people against circuit parties. And then even within the there's
- 10:07people you know, Everyone's got different likes and things, but
- 10:10for me, like the proof is in my pudding, like my actions speak
- 10:13louder than words. I continually come back.
- 10:15I have not paid to promote them at all.
- 10:19But all I have is because my personal first time was so
- 10:26meaningful to me and I had such a good time that if I could
- 10:31either if I could share that experience or someone had even
- 10:3550% of the positivity that I had from my first experience, then
- 10:39you would have a good time. And on on the cruise everyone's
- 10:43just sort of smiling. We had sort of cloudy weather
- 10:45for the 1st 2:00. So to be fair, it was the the
- 10:49weather was not the greatest of all of our January cruises.
- 10:53You can't control the weather though.
- 10:54But The thing is everyone broke good vibes on OK.
- 10:59Most people could have good vibes on I I think with the
- 11:02growth of the incident people do like to complain.
- 11:06That's I I hate that. But people do.
- 11:08And I guess they sort of have a right to.
- 11:10I guess they're like well you know I paid for this vacation.
- 11:12I can complain. Some of the complaints were
- 11:15weather related though where they couldn't use like the Wave
- 11:18rider because that's a shutdown deck 1617 for the first two
- 11:22days. Yeah, it was.
- 11:24It was way too windy. Like, yeah, it was.
- 11:26Way too windy and so but most people were there were like, you
- 11:31know, well, you can't control the weather So this is the
- 11:32things you can change. Things you can't change.
- 11:35But I had, I got, I had a really amazing night.
- 11:38I think night three was probably my favorite night which was the
- 11:42spaceship. Not maybe night. 4 spaceship
- 11:45party spaceship. Yeah.
- 11:47So I think I stayed till like 10:00 AM that day or 11:00 AM
- 11:50that day. So that and then I had, I was
- 11:53sick coming into the either party.
- 11:56No, I I just recovered from like an influenza from White Party
- 12:00like maybe just four days before it came out for the cruise.
- 12:03So I guess my antibodies were ready, so.
- 12:06I was. Kind of.
- 12:07My immune system was my immune system was battered, but at
- 12:10least it had was protected, so I didn't catch anything seemingly
- 12:14knock on wood. I didn't catch any of the
- 12:18various 24 hour bugs that were floating around the ship.
- 12:22But so yeah, I coming into the cruise, I was I guess the most
- 12:27unfit physically because I was just recovering and I was just
- 12:31saying to you earlier, like I think my recovery has been
- 12:35affected by it. But dude, overall amazing
- 12:37cruise. I would do it again.
- 12:40A big ship. It was a big party.
- 12:42Crowds, if you want to party, this is the one to do.
- 12:48If you want to dance till 10:00 AM, this is the one to do if you
- 12:53want to. Meet David Lamb.
- 12:54If you want to meet fellow people who no, not me.
- 12:58If you want to meet people who party all night long or morning
- 13:02long. You're literally just talking
- 13:03about yourself. I'm actually not, but they're
- 13:05not coming. From the person that just said
- 13:07he partied to 11. AM one or two nights, 222
- 13:12nights, White Party. And that night, I didn't really.
- 13:16It still proves my point. Yeah, but I'm.
- 13:18I'm getting older, and I thought I was getting too old for this.
- 13:22But then I remember that I'm just recovering from New Year's.
- 13:26So yeah. Anyways, it's a great thing.
- 13:28But make your own decisions. Make your own.
- 13:30Get sick. Yeah.
- 13:32There's obviously thousands of people do it every year.
- 13:35And they keep coming back. Like, I go there and it's like 1
- 13:38Giant family reunion. I'm like, Oh my God, you're
- 13:40here. You're here.
- 13:41You're here. You're here.
- 13:42And it's it's. Yeah.
- 13:44Truly addicting it. Yeah.
- 13:46You, I I always say this. You don't really see people do
- 13:49just one. Like, yeah, if they do one,
- 13:52they'll want to come back, the vast majority of.
- 13:54People that have done an Atlantis cruise, the vast
- 13:58majority of them go again. It doesn't, you know, it's not
- 14:02like their first and their last is very rare.
- 14:04Yeah, people, yeah, are into like tens, 20, dozens, dozens of
- 14:09them. Yeah, one of the things, one of
- 14:11the things about the cruises that I keep repeating over and
- 14:15over for years now, is that the cruise experience is what you
- 14:21make of it. And there's so many different
- 14:24things you can do on the cruise that you get to choose your own
- 14:28adventure. You know, if you're a party
- 14:31person, you want to just party all the time, you can't do that.
- 14:36But there are people that don't want to party all the time and
- 14:40they there's there's lots of other things besides parties
- 14:43that anyone on the ship can do. They've got like on these on
- 14:49these ships, right? Like we talked about the party
- 14:50because we're into them, but that's just us.
- 14:53You know, you could wake up early and watch the sunrise and
- 14:55do like a early morning yoga class and then you can go get
- 14:59like breakfast. And then there's like all sorts
- 15:02of activities on the ship day and night that you can do that
- 15:06are not the parties. The party is maybe like, I don't
- 15:10know, I don't know one of like 30 or 40 different things you
- 15:15can do on any given day. So every day when we get the
- 15:19cruise compass or the newsletter that they it's electronic now,
- 15:23but every day there's a a newsletter that you can get and
- 15:27it shows you every single thing that's going on, on the ship.
- 15:31And literally there's like 4050 things listed in there.
- 15:35If you read the whole thing, there's like 40-50 different
- 15:37things you can do, and it's like during the day or during the
- 15:40night. And it's not like the parties
- 15:43are just like one or two items on like that list of 40, so many
- 15:45things. Yeah, no, I've had a new people
- 15:47who I had a friend who like won like $2000 at the casino, 'cause
- 15:51he likes about the casino. Yeah, I had a friend who went on
- 15:54one of the ports, his new profile photos, him with a seal,
- 15:58like literally touching a seal or so.
- 16:00That's cool. Damn, that's.
- 16:01Cool. I had a group of friends who
- 16:03almost drowned. They did a waterfall adventure
- 16:06like a a freaking they like hiked through a waterfall.
- 16:09OK, it must have been the Dominican Republic.
- 16:13Yeah, you can also get off the ship is every itinerary has like
- 16:17at least like 3 ports that you can get off of.
- 16:20And every port is a little bit different.
- 16:22Every port there are excursions that you can go on.
- 16:25Yeah, people, you're not stuck on that ship for seven or ten
- 16:28days or. Whatever people did jet ski.
- 16:30Yeah, you can do lots of things. We talked about the you really
- 16:33mentioned the the wave rider thing.
- 16:35That's on the ship. You can't.
- 16:37Yeah, there's like sports and stuff you can do on the ship
- 16:40skate. Room.
- 16:41There's skate room depending on the exact on the on one cruise
- 16:45last year I did go karts. That particular ship had a go
- 16:48Kart track on it and I and I did go Kart.
- 16:51Like, depending on the ship, there's different types of
- 16:53things you can do. And Atlantis themselves, they
- 16:57don't just throw parties, they bring on musicians, singers,
- 17:02drag Queens. So you see like drag shows, you
- 17:04see people that are singing, they have a pianist, they always
- 17:07have a pianist like that. They bring on, they organize
- 17:12these groups, these social groups, for example, one example
- 17:16is they have groups that are for people who are parents, right?
- 17:20So that they can get to like that is like real daddies like
- 17:24people that are. All that is a real all that is a
- 17:26real daddy. Yeah, two different one that's
- 17:28like daddies, like, not in the parental sense.
- 17:31And they have a real daddies like social gathering things
- 17:35where it's for people who have actual kids, right?
- 17:41And that way, you know, it's like a great.
- 17:43It also have like singles nights and couples nights and things
- 17:45like that. They do like singles and couples
- 17:47dinners. That's like a really popular
- 17:49thing where like maybe at 6:00 or 7:00 PM you do like pre drink
- 17:54meat at like a bar. They'll announce all the
- 17:56locations and afterwards you know everyone, all the singles
- 18:01or the couples whatever they'll go to like dinner at the main
- 18:03dining hall. So there are a lot of different
- 18:05things you can do. Again, the parties are like we
- 18:08we talk about the party because we're party people, but the
- 18:11party is literally just like one or two of the events every day
- 18:15on this list of like 40 something events and things that
- 18:18you could be doing on the ship. And it's actually impossible to
- 18:21do everything that the fact that they have so many events and
- 18:25activities on board is that you can pick and choose what you
- 18:28like. Because if you don't like to do
- 18:30a party, you can go play racquetball or you can go rock
- 18:35climbing or you can, you know, join a pottery class.
- 18:39These are. I'm just pulling stuff out of my
- 18:40ass, But you know, you can make the cruise however you want it
- 18:44to be. There's so many different types
- 18:45of things that you can do. But who?
- 18:48Who are you? Who are you talking to?
- 18:50Do you think most of your these listeners have gone on one
- 18:52before or. I'm curious.
- 18:54So don't they? I think on my YouTube channel,
- 18:59for example, I get a It's a mix of people that actually there
- 19:03are quite a lot of people on my YouTube channel just judging
- 19:05from the comments that wanna go on a cruise but they can't for
- 19:11some reason. Maybe they don't live in a
- 19:13region where they can easily hop on a cruise, or someone who has
- 19:19never been on a cruise before because they were on a go.
- 19:22Just judging from the comments, I think we really mentioned this
- 19:25on a podcast before where the people that have been on cruises
- 19:30before, that's not, I don't think there's a ton of those.
- 19:37Yeah bro 'cause I'm like but. You're being so bored.
- 19:39You're like, why are you telling me this shit?
- 19:41I don't freaking know this shit. This is nice.
- 19:43Yeah. So I think the people that, at
- 19:45at least the ones that engage on my YouTube channel with likes
- 19:49and comments and stuff, most of those are people that have not
- 19:53been on a cruise before. Yeah, just do it.
- 19:55Let's do it. You'll love it.
- 19:56You'll love it. Yeah.
- 19:57I mean, yeah, try it once. If you don't like it, you don't
- 19:59have to go back. But statistically most of you
- 20:02that go once, they want to go again.
- 20:05Just, yeah, you just meet just cool people.
- 20:07Actually, I did meet. I didn't end up going.
- 20:11I was at the buffet and he talked to random people all the
- 20:14time as you do at the and he was mentioning there was a drag
- 20:18queen show at 9:00 PM who was gonna do singing Ariana Grande
- 20:21songs. But I I think it was why party
- 20:26nights I was, I just, I just remembered it now it was really
- 20:29friendly too. It's like, so this stuff, I
- 20:31don't know. I'm not looking at the cruise
- 20:32campus for every every little thing.
- 20:34And I'm like, I had no idea. I actually legitimately was
- 20:37like, no, I actually want to see this and I should just only
- 20:39remember now. So sorry.
- 20:41There was if you're somehow listening or watching.
- 20:43They're nice. Only three people listening to
- 20:46this and. They're.
- 20:47Anyways, he was really nice and I was like, I would actually
- 20:49love to thingy, but I think by then I was.
- 20:51I don't know what day it was. I think it was the end.
- 20:55White Party night. It would be the IT would be like
- 20:57day six. I think it.
- 20:57Might have been what, party night?
- 20:59Yeah, there you go. Yeah, but I never read that
- 21:04whole newsletter because it's just too much to read.
- 21:08I like glance on the on the first page and then I the next
- 21:12thing I look at is what port we're at.
- 21:16It's also on the front page. And then another thing I look at
- 21:20is restaurant hours. Well, The thing is, I think that
- 21:23that should be used not, like as a book, but that is a
- 21:26reformation source. Yeah.
- 21:27So you're using exactly what it was.
- 21:29And I was like, oh, when I looked at them.
- 21:30Oh, this this bitch is seeing at 9:00.
- 21:33So, yeah, you're right. This bitch.
- 21:34So I look good for the weather. I didn't care for the port, the
- 21:37weather. Yeah, there.
- 21:39Yeah. I'd like to know if it's AC day
- 21:41or not AC day. I guess maybe that's more Akram.
- 21:43I don't care too much exactly where we are, like what port
- 21:46we're docking at. I just want to know if it's a AC
- 21:48day or not AC. Day.
- 21:49Yeah. Generally, I think that's the
- 21:51one order that I do know before. That's probably the only thing I
- 21:55know. It's like OK, it's like roughly
- 21:57CC port port port, White Party or something I.
- 22:01Have to put. Otherwise, I don't know what day
- 22:03I don't fucking know. No, I I you, don't you?
- 22:05You don't know that. Yeah.
- 22:07So it says what day it is, like day 123 or whatever, right on
- 22:11the front. And I end up from the
- 22:17crucification guy, which is the PDF you get like a few days
- 22:20before you actually board the cruise.
- 22:22And it has a preview of the entertainment.
- 22:25It's not like the set in stone schedule you get the schedule on
- 22:29the newsletter you get every day when you're on the ship.
- 22:32But the preview gives you an idea what entertainment, or at
- 22:37least like the headliners are. And I like to go through the CVG
- 22:42before the cruise and put onto my own calendar on my phone what
- 22:46shows I want to see. I'm sure that's wise.
- 22:49I mean, I think you should prioritize.
- 22:50Yeah. If you look at whatever if like
- 22:53the idiom headliner like Paul Van Dyke this year, if he's your
- 22:56main thing, then you would like, OK, cool, I'm doing this and
- 22:59then I'm like, I'm taking a break here.
- 23:01I'm going to watch this show. I'll eat early this to watch
- 23:04this show later. So no, that's why that's what
- 23:06it's there for, I guess. Right.
- 23:07To plan your day out because at the end of the day it's your
- 23:09cruise and it's you can do whatever you want and.
- 23:12Yeah, that that's exactly true. So someone messaged me today.
- 23:18I wasn't on the cruise, but apparently, according to this
- 23:21person, doing one of like, the many speeches that Rich Campbell
- 23:25gives on the ship. Rich Campbell is the founder and
- 23:31owner of Atlantis. President Yep.
- 23:33President. Yeah, I don't know the, I don't
- 23:35know all the titles, but apparently he told people in
- 23:39like AQ and A or like in front of a crowd that there's gonna be
- 23:43a Asia cruise next year in January.
- 23:50No. No comment I.
- 23:52No, I'm. I'm telling you this.
- 23:54Oh, OK. I'm not.
- 23:55I'm not asking you to confirm. Oh, OK, I once again with
- 23:58Atlantis. Until I see it in paper and and
- 24:01dinghy. There's literally no.
- 24:03I've heard rumours of meeting so.
- 24:06This, this is what someone I knew on the cruise told me.
- 24:08But like, apparently, yeah, like it.
- 24:11It's until it's confirmed and I see it on the website, I don't.
- 24:14Exactly. Don't.
- 24:16Yeah. But I'm kind of excited about it
- 24:17because I, I love to party in Asia.
- 24:22So I'm interested to see what kind of if this happens, what
- 24:25kind of itinerary they have because every year like
- 24:28obviously Atlanta space in the US so we get the US cruises out
- 24:32of Florida or California and that they always have cruises in
- 24:37the Mediterranean, in Europe. But it's not every year that
- 24:40there is a Asia cruise. I know, I think next week or the
- 24:45week after coming up pretty soon they have a cruise in Australia,
- 24:51like a five day cruise. I think it's coming very soon.
- 24:53I think it's this weekend. Oh wait, this coming up.
- 24:56It's coming up very soon in the. Next week or so.
- 24:58Something like that. So that's cool to see.
- 25:02I know in 2023 they did have an Asia cruise in it's in November.
- 25:07They did a cruise in Asia in November.
- 25:09Yeah. But I'm hoping that there is
- 25:12enough demand in the future to see an Asia cruise on the
- 25:19calendar more regularly. Well, it makes sense if you're
- 25:22there already, like you've if you're definitely going to be in
- 25:25in the area, the region, it makes sense to like make the
- 25:29most of that long flight across because it's hard for you to get
- 25:32to Asia, right sort of ish, Whereas for Australians it's
- 25:35finally something close. Close Ish.
- 25:38Yeah, yeah, cuz we have to fly like 20 hours to get to fucking
- 25:41Miami. So yes, it makes sense for those
- 25:44who would have made the trek to Asia for for a new year
- 25:49celebration somewhere. If they do in Bangkok for
- 25:53example, yeah, it could coincide.
- 25:56Makes sense. And then they've got the
- 25:57recovery if like, hey, I've partied enough and then I can
- 26:01recover potentially depending on the itinerary.
- 26:05Yeah. So nothing's been announced yet,
- 26:07but if it if it goes ahead, I'm I'm just really excited to see
- 26:11like what the details are for that particular one because I'm
- 26:14excited for the three more. I mean they just literally
- 26:16announced that Europe one like. Oh yeah, they added a.
- 26:20Two weeks. What did they like really
- 26:22recently? Like 2 weeks ago on the cruise
- 26:23maybe? Earlier this month, but I got an
- 26:25e-mail. About it And it's like, oh, I'm
- 26:26like, OK, all of a sudden I'm like, the two Med cruises are
- 26:28sold out, next minute there's one in July.
- 26:32It's in July. So David and I, we did a episode
- 26:35of this podcast, I think it was in December, where we went
- 26:40through very quickly and briefly all the cruises that were coming
- 26:45up in 2024. But since that time they just
- 26:48announced a additional Mediterranean cruise in Europe
- 26:53in July. It will be on a Virgin cruise
- 26:55ship and I got an e-mail about it.
- 26:59I don't know, I don't know if it's on the website yet but I I
- 27:06don't remember 100% but feel free to Google Atlantis website.
- 27:11But sometimes I know they open up cruises for alumni first to
- 27:15book before they open to the general public.
- 27:17But, so we're obviously alumni, but yeah, there is gonna be 4
- 27:23medcruises next year. They have the Oceania cruise
- 27:25which the luxury cruise in July. They have this brand new Virgin
- 27:30cruise in the Mediterranean also in July.
- 27:32And then we have the two Mediterranean cruises that are
- 27:3710 days each that are back-to-back also on Virgin
- 27:40cruises in August. So that's a lot of cruises in
- 27:45Europe. This year usually there's two,
- 27:46maybe three and this year there's four.
- 27:49So far. Wait till they add another one.
- 27:51I don't know. I don't know where.
- 27:53It's really ramping up after COVID, I guess.
- 27:56I was just telling David there's a chance I might not go on any
- 27:59cruises this year. No, no response.
- 28:08Yeah, because you're not going any cruises.
- 28:10I'm not. Going to be like.
- 28:13Wait, I had. I wasn't.
- 28:15That was exactly the response I was looking for against David.
- 28:19I I didn't go on this January 1 because I just.
- 28:21I just needed to save some money and the the I'm not going to,
- 28:27I'm not flying to Australia just to go on a 5 day cruise and the
- 28:31other Caribbean cruise that's coming up in March.
- 28:33I don't usually go on that one, but the crowd is quite different
- 28:37and I'm not going to fly to Europe to go on a cruise again.
- 28:39I did that in 2023. Flying Europe is very expensive
- 28:42in the summer, in July and August and I don't think that's
- 28:46like something I want to do again.
- 28:50So that leaves the October cruise and I had plan to go to
- 28:58Taipei for Taiwan Pride again this year.
- 29:01But yeah, we'll see how the year progresses.
- 29:04I think the October one is the only kind of realistic option
- 29:07for me at this point. If I do want to go on a cruise
- 29:09this year, maybe you're. Just moving away from cruises.
- 29:11No, I love doing the cruises. I would have been on the January
- 29:141 I I was booked on the January 1 at for like a long time.
- 29:19I just decided to save that money because I didn't have a
- 29:24roommate. I was going to have my own room
- 29:26and that is not cheap. That was like $3000 for that
- 29:32room. On top of I have to fly myself
- 29:34over to Miami and I have to have at least like one night of
- 29:36hotel. So yeah, I'm not I I love the
- 29:40cruises. I'm not off the cruises.
- 29:42I just, you know, I just need to watch my money.
- 29:46Monies. Yeah.
- 29:49That's good. Smart making, Smart Making good.
- 29:51Choices. Adulting adults.
- 29:53Pretty hard adulting, yes. Cool cruises aside, so you had
- 30:00mentioned that, like I talked on the last episode of the podcast,
- 30:03How I Got Sick. You got way more sick.
- 30:06But it's good to know that you're like you're 100% now.
- 30:10I just have this lingering well, lingering.
- 30:13No, it's not. But luckily I did.
- 30:16It's not My doctor knew what was gonna happen.
- 30:17But here's guys, if it is influenza IT which I don't think
- 30:21I've had before, well it's been a long time since I've had the
- 30:25actual, the actual flu. He was like no, it is very
- 30:28normal to sort of feel or have lingering after effects for a
- 30:33few weeks. And I guess it's not normally
- 30:36you go on like a seven day party cruise in the middle of that
- 30:39recovery. But I was.
- 30:41I was already. I was sort of.
- 30:43The acute symptoms had sort of subsided 4 days before I came up
- 30:46here. And then I was just this
- 30:47lingering little mini cough. I can go hours without coughing
- 30:51and then randomly have a coughing fit.
- 30:53And I just just, it's just 'cause I'm, I'm always really
- 30:57cognizant of the cough. So I'm like, I I I feels it
- 31:01feels like I'm doing it a lot. So no, kind of OK, actually,
- 31:05yeah. Like I said, I didn't develop
- 31:06any new symptoms after the cruise, so I think that whatever
- 31:11I had before was like a shield that kept me through.
- 31:15Yeah, I did lose a lot of of weight though, so I just got to
- 31:18get that back. Oh my God, yeah.
- 31:20So we're both, we're both hard at work at the gym.
- 31:23We're trying to get back into our regular gym schedule, both
- 31:27of us, as much as we can, yeah. I've lost 6 kilos at least.
- 31:30That's a lot of weight. Yeah, that's like it's but it's
- 31:34little, little less than half, right, compared to pounds.
- 31:39No, it's 6 * 2. It's like maybe 15 lbs.
- 31:43Yeah, that's a lot. That's a lot of weight to lose.
- 31:47Yeah, it was rough. And then I thank God for protein
- 31:51shakes on the cruise. Thank God those were so good.
- 31:56Oh my God. That nutrition bar thing at the
- 31:58gym is like a godsend. Yeah.
- 32:00So on the Oasis class ships of Royal Caribbean, they have the
- 32:04Vitality Spa. That's the name for the for the
- 32:07spa and gym. They're called the Vitality Spa
- 32:09and Gym on the Oasis class ships.
- 32:11Though there is a little, it's not a bar but they have a little
- 32:16like protein shake and snacks thing at the entrance.
- 32:21It's a juice bar. Basically it's a juice bar and
- 32:23juice. Yeah.
- 32:24It's like when you're about to walk in before you get to the
- 32:27gym and the spa. Yeah.
- 32:29So there's like a little juice bar.
- 32:30They do snacks and they also do protein shakes.
- 32:32So if you happen to have, you can just buy a la carte.
- 32:35It's like, I don't know how much it is, six or seven, six or 8
- 32:37bucks or something, I think. 795 or 8 bucks, yeah, yeah.
- 32:40Something like that. And you can kind of customize it
- 32:42because they have fresh fruit there and they say, do you want
- 32:45like bananas or strawberries or chocolate or whatever flavor you
- 32:48want? And then they've got different
- 32:50types of protein powder you can do away or you can do vegan.
- 32:53So you can kind of sort of customize it and they are
- 32:58usually very, very delicious, yeah.
- 32:59It's like 6:30 to 10:00 PM anyways there, right?
- 33:02It got hours, so like that's one of the places we go on that
- 33:07particular ship as those shakes are really good and we like to
- 33:09keep our protein up. But what I've started to do is
- 33:12actually out bring a whole bag or bottle of protein powder onto
- 33:18the ship and it'll I keep it just in my room and usually it
- 33:22will last me. Yeah, it'll last me like a whole
- 33:25week if I have like a couple of those every day.
- 33:27Yeah, I guess I should have been more like trying to keep my
- 33:32weight up after losing so much weight over New Year's.
- 33:36But I just you just, I don't know, I was there to party and
- 33:40dance with the friends. So I think you.
- 33:42Shred it Now I didn't worry about it.
- 33:44You're. Shredding.
- 33:44Accidental shredding. Yeah, yeah.
- 33:46Yeah, well, you you've done a shred cycle, basically.
- 33:49Now you can do bulk, gross. Now you can do bulking.
- 33:51Yeah, I need to. Get back into it.
- 33:54Yeah, so okay. So that will be another episode
- 33:58of the podcast. All right, We will sign out from
- 34:02there. Say bye, David.
- 34:03Bye, David. Bye.
