- 0:16Take it down, LeBron. Oh, look like James.
- 0:18LeBron James with the rejection. And here we go, episode 134 of
- 0:37The Paddafax, streaming on Apple Podcast, Spotify, and wherever
- 0:43you get your podcast from. It is November 18th, 2025.
- 0:48Thank you so much for tuning in. I'm William Patterson, all right
- 0:53back for another edition of my weekly college football takes.
- 0:58And after a big Week 12, we've got plenty to cover as we're
- 1:05approaching the final couple of weeks of the season, folks.
- 1:07And that means everything matters a little bit more where
- 1:12the College Football Playoffs and, and many teams hopes are
- 1:16still in the balance. Teams that are trying to sneak
- 1:19in and find their way is in the balance.
- 1:22And also you've got some teams that are you're trying to build
- 1:25some momentum in the next season because there are some teams
- 1:29across the country that aren't firing their coach this year and
- 1:32aren't having a garage sale on all their players.
- 1:34They need some momentum heading into the next season.
- 1:37So there's a lot going on in these final weeks of the season.
- 1:40And that's why it's really important that we come today and
- 1:44talk about it. So I'll go over all the big
- 1:47matchups, my takeaways from the action over the weekend.
- 1:50I'll have some supplements, elementary takeaways from some
- 1:53of the maybe not as big games that I still want to talk about.
- 1:57I'll do my top 25 teams heading into Week 13.
- 2:02And then I'll also share my Intel on what is coming up here
- 2:08in a couple of weeks. And we've already seen it unfold
- 2:11today as I record this. James Franklin has taken the
- 2:15head coaching position at Virginia Tech.
- 2:17I think that's a great move for him.
- 2:20You saw him on college game day about a month ago.
- 2:22We talked about wanting to get back involved in the coaching,
- 2:25wanting to have another opportunity to win a national
- 2:28championship elsewhere. And also a part of his buyout, a
- 2:32part of his contract at Penn State, he had to go look for
- 2:36another job. So now Penn State will only have
- 2:38to pay $9,000,000 to Franklin as a part of that $56 million
- 2:42buyout. So both parties win there.
- 2:45I'm really excited for James Franklin.
- 2:46I think he'll do well in Blacksburg, but there's a lot
- 2:51that could possibly unfold here in a couple of weeks.
- 2:54And I'll share you what I know about Lane Kiffin, what I know
- 2:57about a possible domino effect that could take place with
- 3:02coaches that are currently at their school, you know, haven't
- 3:06left, haven't been fired, haven't decided to go elsewhere.
- 3:10There could be a huge domino effect in college football.
- 3:13I'll tell you guys about that at the very end of the episode, but
- 3:17before we get into it, thank you so much for listening.
- 3:20I really do appreciate it. We've had so much growth this
- 3:23college football season, folks. It is incredible.
- 3:27On Instagram right now, we are averaging 30 million views a
- 3:33month. When we started doing these
- 3:36college football top 25, my preseason top 25 back in June,
- 3:42we were doing about 100K and now we're doing 30 million in a
- 3:47month. And the followers continue to
- 3:49grow coming off really one of our best weeks ever.
- 3:51So make sure you're following at the Padifax on Instagram and at
- 3:56the Padifax on Twitter, at TP Fax on Sports on TikTok and at
- 4:00the Padifax on YouTube. Big things are coming in 2026,
- 4:04folks. This is all a part of a big plan
- 4:07to make this thing a lot bigger than it already is.
- 4:10And again, I'm so blessed for everyone that has been a part of
- 4:13this journey, but I've got bigger ideas, I've got bigger
- 4:17plans than just having some fun on Instagram and, and doing this
- 4:21podcast. And, you know, I, I want to grow
- 4:25this. I want to make this to where
- 4:27this is a go to destination for people that are intrigued by
- 4:31college football 24/7 year round.
- 4:34And I feel like we're starting to put some of the groundwork
- 4:37in. So really do appreciate it.
- 4:39Make sure you're following there.
- 4:40And if you're listening on YouTube or I guess watching on
- 4:43YouTube, listening on a podcast, make sure to follow like
- 4:46subscribe and hit that bell notification so that you never
- 4:49miss an episode. All of our announcements are out
- 4:52of the way. Let's get into the action that
- 4:54why don't we our Week 12 takeaways and we'll kick things
- 4:59off in Tuscaloosa, T Town as #11 Oklahoma rolls #4 Alabama 23 to
- 5:0821 and the pregame storylines heading in this one I thought
- 5:14were pretty simple for Oklahoma. Your College Football Playoff
- 5:18lives are on the line. Your your hopes and dreams of
- 5:21playing in the postseason are on the line and you can't afford
- 5:26another loss and nine and three SEC team.
- 5:28I think it would be difficult to make it in.
- 5:31It'd be even more difficult for Oklahoma and we will talk about
- 5:37another nine and three team here in a little bit that I think
- 5:39could possibly have an opportunity with what they have
- 5:41left on the schedule. But again, I don't want to get
- 5:43too ahead of us. Oklahoma for the most part
- 5:46playing for their college football lives in this one.
- 5:49For Alabama, a big thing I talked about last week on Fox
- 5:53Sports was does Alabama have the offense right now, at least the
- 5:57offensive momentum to go up against a top 2 defensive unit
- 6:01in Oklahoma? They've regressed over the last
- 6:04couple of weeks heading into this one Saturday in terms of
- 6:07their EPA and Ty Simpson's past depth perception and the average
- 6:15of yards for completed pass. Everything is kind of dwindled a
- 6:19little bit ever since they really caught fire in
- 6:22mid-october and this is still a really good Alabama team.
- 6:26But I had some serious questions about the Tides ability to be
- 6:30able to facilitate enough offense up against an Oklahoma
- 6:34defence that went into Neeland Stadium a couple of weeks ago
- 6:38and made a couple of really, really big plays.
- 6:40Could they do that in this one? If you followed at the pad of
- 6:44facts, another reason why on Instagram to follow.
- 6:48I had this is a 2 unit play for Oklahoma +6 and I had the money
- 6:51line. I really like the spot here and
- 6:55my intuition was correct because this Oklahoma defense force
- 7:00critical turnovers. They forced 3 in total.
- 7:03You had a punt return fumble. I think it was Ryan Williams
- 7:07kind of muffed or didn't Muffet was running it out and just
- 7:09trickled out. Oklahoma covers that.
- 7:11You had a pick 6 from Eli Bowen. We'll talk more about the Bowens
- 7:15here in a minute because they were really been packed full on
- 7:17this one. But that pick 6 was big and then
- 7:19they had another force fumble. So 3 total turnovers that they
- 7:22cause and that's huge because you're on the road, you're up
- 7:27against an offense that is very capable, more than capable with
- 7:30a Heisman contending quarterback.
- 7:32And Ty Simpson, Ryan Williams, one of the most electric wide
- 7:35receivers in the country in a deep receiving core in general
- 7:38with Isaiah Horton, Jeremy Bernard, this team can boom at
- 7:41any time. And Jim Miller hasn't had that
- 7:44great of a season. Alabama hasn't been able to
- 7:46establish the run that well at all, but he has another back
- 7:49that has shown that can break off some big plays.
- 7:51So this is an offense that could boom, but Oklahoma forced
- 7:55turnovers and they capitalized on them.
- 7:59We'll talk about how they capitalize here in a minute, but
- 8:01let's focus on these Bowen guys. Eli and Payton, they're
- 8:05brothers. Eli Bowen was one of my favorite
- 8:08cornerbacks, defensive backs headed into this season.
- 8:12Talked about him in the offseason when we did our top 25
- 8:14teams and he had an 87 yard touchdown off of pick six.
- 8:19It's Ty Simpson's second interception of the season that
- 8:22he's thrown just shows how good this guy is in terms of taking
- 8:26care of the football. And that's been a big
- 8:27characteristic of this Alabama offense throughout the season.
- 8:30You know, they might have some struggles here and there their
- 8:32their EPA numbers and and and stuff like that has dropped, but
- 8:36they aren't turning the ball over specifically.
- 8:38So that's been a positive. But they had a couple of really
- 8:42key turnovers here and Eli Bowen with that pick 6 was big, gave
- 8:48Oklahoma some early momentum and then Peyton Bowen, his brother,
- 8:55broke up the 4th down pass where Alabama was trying to put
- 8:58together a game-winning drive. So both the Bowens played really
- 9:01big in this one and those are the type of plays that Oklahoma
- 9:05had to make to win this one because they were without our
- 9:08Mason Thomas and our Mason Thomas is one of the best edges
- 9:11in the country. I I look at him as kind of
- 9:13utility knife, a guy that you can use off the end, a guy that
- 9:16you can use at linebacker. And Oklahoma has that all over
- 9:20the roster. The the, the versatility is is
- 9:22is great and credit to Brent Venables for the type of group
- 9:26he has formed this season. There's been a lot of talk over
- 9:29the last couple of seasons heading into this season about
- 9:32Brent Venables ability to field a College Football Playoff level
- 9:37team. And I believe that this could
- 9:39have been the 1. And I talked about it this
- 9:41offseason. I said I had to see some things
- 9:43in order to fully hop on the bandwagon.
- 9:46And they're not winning in the sexiest way possible, but
- 9:49they're getting it done defensively, which is what
- 9:52Venable strong suit is. So that tells me that this is a
- 9:55guy that is doing his job correctly and the Sooners get to
- 10:00tie Simpson four times in total without our Mason Thomas
- 10:04playing. So defensively, Oklahoma did
- 10:06their job. They forced critical turnovers
- 10:08and put a lot of pressure on Simpson.
- 10:11The thing I mentioned earlier that is really big in this one,
- 10:14the second reason why Alabama was not able to win this one is
- 10:18because Oklahoma capitalized on turnovers and in the red zone.
- 10:23The Sooners only totaled 212 yards here, folks, and it was
- 10:25very reminiscent of what they did at Tennessee.
- 10:28Tennessee out game, 255 to 100 at halftime.
- 10:32But they were up six points because they capitalized on
- 10:35turnovers and they ended up winning that game.
- 10:36And in this one, they took advantage of short fields and
- 10:40opportunities off those interceptions, off the
- 10:45interception from Eli Bowen goes for a touchdown off the fumble
- 10:48return. They're able to get it into the
- 10:49end zone, stuff like that. That's big and it helps when
- 10:52you've got this ridiculous looking kicker that wears biker
- 10:55shorts, but my golly, he can hit a 50 yard field goal like it's
- 10:58nothing. So they take advantage of
- 11:01turning you over and if you're going to be a good defense, you
- 11:03have to do that. And Mater only goes 161 total
- 11:07yards here in a touchdown. But he makes game-winning plays
- 11:10and that's what I like about him the most.
- 11:12He might not be 100% in the air, but he's still 100% in the
- 11:15ground and as a playmaker. And I I really, really respect
- 11:20his game and, and think he's been a big impact for this
- 11:23Oklahoma team. And again, Venables came into
- 11:27this season facing a ton of pressure.
- 11:30The Sooners had two losing seasons in the last three years,
- 11:34and those are the only two losing seasons of the century
- 11:37mark. But this now looks like a
- 11:39program that has gotten it together.
- 11:43Brent Venables has done his thing defensively, has
- 11:47identified the type of players he wants on this defense that
- 11:51are versatile, that can play and be in a lot of different spots.
- 11:56There, there. There's no joke about this
- 11:58defense. Everyone can make a play and you
- 12:01see that every week. Offensively, they might have
- 12:03missed on a guy like Jay Knott out of the transfer portal, but
- 12:06John Mateer has been the type of quarterback that they needed and
- 12:09did not have last year. A guy that can take care of the
- 12:12football and a guy that can manage the game correctly.
- 12:15And if you're going to lean into your defense, you've got to have
- 12:17a guy like that. But Mateer can also be big in
- 12:20the clutch and is composed in the clutch, and that's what I
- 12:23think is really big about this Oklahoma team.
- 12:25So credit to them, this was a big win.
- 12:28They needed it and they got it done.
- 12:31For Alabama, this was a little bit of a concerning loss because
- 12:35they got in their own way a lot here.
- 12:38Ty Simpson goes 28 to 42 for 326 yards and a touchdown and did
- 12:44have an interception. As I mentioned, his second on
- 12:46the season. The running game has been an
- 12:49issue all the year and they got a little bit of an impact from
- 12:52Daniel Hill. He had 15 carries for 60 yards
- 12:55and two touchdowns. I thought that was a big bonus
- 12:57for him. But outside of that, they were
- 13:01not able to really get Jam Miller involved.
- 13:03So you had those turnovers which were key 3 on, on on three on
- 13:07the day. And I felt like that's what put
- 13:11him in the toughest spot. I felt like that gave Oklahoma
- 13:14really good field position, the opportunity to get some free
- 13:17points on the board and despite Alabama's defensive effort,
- 13:21which again, I thought did a fine job, You hold the Sooners
- 13:24to 212 yards most of the time in a top ten match up, you're going
- 13:27to, yeah, I mean, top 15, top 11, whatever you're going to
- 13:30call it. Most of the time in a type of
- 13:32match up like that, you hold the opponent to 212 yards in your
- 13:35own building, I'd imagine you'd win, but not when you get in
- 13:39your own way. And that's what Alabama did.
- 13:40I will give credit to Josh Cuevas at tight end.
- 13:43I thought he played really well. Six receptions, 80 yards and a
- 13:45touchdown. Jeremy Bernard continues to be
- 13:48the unk of that room, but he's a reliable target and and that's
- 13:54the type of receiver that Ty Simpson needs in this first year
- 13:57as a full time starter. I don't look him look at him as
- 14:00a young guy by any means anymore.
- 14:02But you need those type of players like Bernard that are
- 14:04reliable and that can make plays and that's what he does.
- 14:08Overall, this was a little bit of a concerning performance from
- 14:11Alabama's offense. The numbers are are a little bit
- 14:14inflated because they started having to throw a little bit
- 14:16more than they wanted to. But again, that's because of
- 14:19that run game being axed like Oklahoma did to Tennessee where
- 14:23they had to throw the ball a lot.
- 14:24So a concerning loss at home for Kaylin de Bore and company.
- 14:28And now that's two straight wins for the Sooners over Alabama.
- 14:33I mean that that a year ago you would, I mean literally a year
- 14:37ago, like this weekend, because Oklahoma and Alabama played in
- 14:41the final, what, two weeks of the season last year?
- 14:44One, it was towards the end and yeah, I guess I think it was the
- 14:48second last week. So it would have been around
- 14:49this time last year. You told me that Oklahoma's
- 14:52going to be Alabama last year with the Oklahoma team that they
- 14:55had and then again this year in Tuscaloosa.
- 14:59I would have thought you were crazy, but William Patterson did
- 15:01have Oklahoma +6 for 2 units and money line the paddle locks.
- 15:05Really good weekend by the way. Plus 4.6 units.
- 15:10How about that? My other point about Alabama
- 15:14though, the Iron Bowl just got interesting.
- 15:20The Iron Bowl is now going to be Alabama's last chance to make
- 15:24the College Football Playoff. It's a win or go home game at
- 15:29Auburn. That does not sound like a good
- 15:33idea, but Alabama's now in this position and Auburn's got a
- 15:38really good defense. They've only allowed one team
- 15:40this season to score more than 24 points on them.
- 15:42Granted, it was against Vanderbilt the last time they
- 15:44were out, but this is a stout Auburn defense as well.
- 15:47They're very similar to Oklahoma, just a lot of guys
- 15:50that can play different positions.
- 15:52Keldrick Falk is one of the best defensive players in the
- 15:54country, period. And is Ty Simpson ready for an
- 15:58Iron Bowl environment? He's played in some big games
- 16:00this season. He excelled against Georgia, but
- 16:04the Iron Bowls always got a little bit something different
- 16:07to it, and Auburn's got nothing to play for.
- 16:11Ashton Daniels is going to be benched on Saturday against
- 16:15Mercer just so we can play against Alabama and not burn his
- 16:19red shirt. That's how serious Auburn has
- 16:21taken this game. They want it more than anything,
- 16:25and they want to see Alabama lose their season on their home
- 16:29field. DJ Durkin is a defensive wizard.
- 16:33He's going to be ready for this Alabama team.
- 16:35The Iron Bowl just got really, really interesting because
- 16:38Alabama did not handle business in T town.
- 16:41That's going to be a fun one in Week 14.
- 16:44All right, we'll switch over now to #5 Georgia continues to own
- 16:51Texas. And this Bulldogs team used a
- 16:56big time fourth quarter surge in the fourth quarter to put away
- 17:00#10 Texas 35 to 10. The score a little bit
- 17:04misleading for how this game was close through most of the game,
- 17:07at least through 3/4. But heading into this one, it's,
- 17:12you know, Arch Manning's played well.
- 17:14Arch Manning had put together some really good games in the
- 17:18matchups leading up to this one to where I thought he'd start,
- 17:21you know, started to turn things around.
- 17:22And don't get me wrong by any means, he was not the reason why
- 17:25Texas lost Saturday, and we'll talk about that here in a
- 17:28minute. But could Arch perform at that
- 17:31level where he's got 7 touchdowns to 1 interception and
- 17:35like 700 yards in his last three games or last two games?
- 17:38Could he do that up against Georgia on the road between the
- 17:42hedges for Georgia? Could they handle business at
- 17:47home in this spot because they didn't do it against Alabama and
- 17:51this was a night time game 730 prime time.
- 17:55Could they handle it? They didn't do it against
- 17:57Alabama, but they did in this one.
- 18:00And my takeaways begin with Georgia wins the most important
- 18:04quarter and that's the 4th. The 4th is like your final act,
- 18:09you know, and and a job interview.
- 18:11You, you know, meet the person you get to send in your resume.
- 18:14The final act of a job interview is sitting down face to face and
- 18:18selling yourself. Georgia did that in the fourth
- 18:22quarter, the most important part of the game in order to put this
- 18:27Texas team away in order to win the job.
- 18:30They got it done and they tallied 21 points in the fourth
- 18:34quarter, perfectly executed an onside kick.
- 18:38And I have a pretty good number for this, a pretty good stat.
- 18:41I'll tell you here in a second, but it was interesting on the
- 18:43broadcast, Herbstrey and Fowler were talking about Steve
- 18:49Sarkisian knowing that something was coming at some point, and he
- 18:54said it was probably going to be on special teams, that Kirby was
- 18:57going to throw someone at him. That just shows you how smart of
- 18:59a coach Sarkeesian is and how good these guys know each other,
- 19:03how well these guys know each other.
- 19:05They know in a game like this they might throw in a little bit
- 19:07of a wrinkle. And they did.
- 19:08And Smart did it at a time where you would not have expected.
- 19:12I mean, fourth quarter Georgia goes up 2110, 14 minutes left in
- 19:16the game. Why would they do an onside kick
- 19:19and risk giving Texas the ball at the 50 yard line when Gunner
- 19:23Stockton had just thrown an interception 2 possessions
- 19:25prior, allowing for Texas to cut it to within 4 or maybe 3 if
- 19:30they went for two. But that's exactly why Kirby
- 19:33Smart did it. And, and, and the reaction from
- 19:35him was awesome. He was jumping up and down.
- 19:38He knew that he probably just won the game off of that play.
- 19:41And honestly, they kind of did because they go down and score
- 19:45and they make it an 18 point game and and with 10 minutes
- 19:47left, it's a 3 possession game, which is too difficult.
- 19:52And that was the first onside kick of Kirby Smart's 10 year at
- 19:57Georgia. And that comes from the
- 19:59Georgia's, the Georgia's communications team.
- 20:01So I don't know what to say that either shows that they've never
- 20:04had to been in a game, happened to be in a game like that
- 20:06before, or he just doesn't like to be creative.
- 20:08I don't know, but he was creative in this spot.
- 20:12And for the game, Georgia totals 357 total yards rushes for six
- 20:17times the amount of yards Texas does.
- 20:20We'll talk more about that here in a minute because that's
- 20:22obviously a big concern for Texas.
- 20:24But Gunner Stockton has continued to improve this
- 20:26season. I thought in the early half of
- 20:28the year he really struggled against zone coverages, even
- 20:31against Tennessee. And that was a, you know, in
- 20:34Week 3. That was a really big match up
- 20:36early in the season when Tennessee would run zone, they
- 20:39would be able to bottle them up and Stockton wouldn't be able to
- 20:42make a play. When Tennessee would play man,
- 20:44Stockton would have success and that's how Georgia was able to
- 20:47get a couple of big plays late in that game.
- 20:49But over the course of the season, he has been much better
- 20:51with the zone. I think he's adapted to it
- 20:53better. You saw a little bit of both on
- 20:55Saturday. Texas has the personnel to go up
- 20:58against George's office. It's going to be a George's wide
- 21:00receivers, but they also want to throw a couple different things
- 21:04at Stockton and I thought they did, but Stockton handled it
- 21:06well. 24 of 29 for him, 229 yards, 5 total touchdowns, 4 in
- 21:11the air, one on the ground. Stockton, for a guy that made
- 21:16his debut against Texas last year in the SEC Championship, I
- 21:20was there. I mean, it was a little bit of
- 21:23a. We'll see what this guy can do.
- 21:25You felt like he was more of a runner because he was a really
- 21:28good runner in the SEC Championship and obviously the
- 21:30College Football Playoff didn't go his way.
- 21:32But this year I think he's continued to grow.
- 21:35And while it's not as impressive as like what a Ty Simpson has
- 21:38done, Stockton is still really, really good.
- 21:41And it just continues the path of Georgia quarterbacks that
- 21:46aren't necessarily like world beaters.
- 21:48But if you're good enough, you can win games.
- 21:50And I mean, Carson back won games for him.
- 21:53I thought he was a turnover machine at times.
- 21:56Stetson Bennett, a guy that is about my height, my size, and
- 22:00went out to the bar every other night, won a national
- 22:02championship forum. If you're in the right spot, if
- 22:06you're a a, a quarterback, then at least has somewhat of a brain
- 22:10and maybe not even has a brain. I mean, instead, I don't.
- 22:13I don't know. But you can thrive in this
- 22:17Georgia offense. You can thrive under Kirby Smart
- 22:20and Gunner Stockton has done that to a tee.
- 22:22I also thought it was big here, too.
- 22:24Chauncey Bowens gets banged up for Georgia.
- 22:27Nate Frazier goes 16 carries for 72 yards.
- 22:31Not anything that's going to jump off the page, but Georgia
- 22:34also has struggled over the last two seasons to be consistent
- 22:38with the run game. I thought they got some nice
- 22:40complimentary football from Bro Stockton with his legs, but also
- 22:44Frazier as a runner. Let's talk about Texas because
- 22:49this Texas team continues to just like I, I, I see the
- 22:54potential with them. I really do.
- 22:55We'll talk about that here in a minute.
- 22:58But it's just like they can't put together a flawless game
- 23:05against really anyone. But you can tell that they're
- 23:08the better team. And I wouldn't per SE say they
- 23:11were the better team Saturday, but they're two inconsistent in
- 23:17different facets of the game where like they haven't been
- 23:19able to really establish the run all year, but when they have,
- 23:22they haven't been able to throw the ball that well.
- 23:25It's just like kind of back and forth.
- 23:26And it's kind of like Tennessee and Tennessee, another three
- 23:28loss team in the SEC. They play defense really well
- 23:31one game and then they can't formulate the offense the same
- 23:34way they used to. And then the offense is a world
- 23:36beater and then the defense can't stop a cold.
- 23:39So like you've got a couple of teams like that in the SEC that
- 23:41just have major flaws. And I think Texas has one of
- 23:44them. I don't think it's as bad as
- 23:45like a Tennessee where it's like 1 unit plays well, the other
- 23:49unit plays, you know, bad. For Texas.
- 23:52It's more either Arch Manning doesn't have a good game or they
- 23:57can't run the ball. And this was one of these games
- 23:59you can't, they couldn't run the ball and it was really big
- 24:01because you're going up against the Georgia defense.
- 24:03While they're not as good as they've been in years past,
- 24:05they're still a really talented team.
- 24:07And if they know you're going to have to drop back and pass time
- 24:10and time again, they're going to be able to adjust.
- 24:13And they adjusted well. Texas throws for 251 yards.
- 24:20They only rush for 23. That's a problem. 1.35 yards per
- 24:25carry. Arch Manning goes 27 to 43251
- 24:29and a touchdown. Those aren't bad numbers by any
- 24:31means. Not what you would do, you know,
- 24:33want from like a star quarterback.
- 24:36But I think Manning's still continuing to get better.
- 24:38But contraven Wisner goes 9 carries for 37 yards.
- 24:41That's a circle highlight, whatever you want to call it, 23
- 24:46yards as a team. Your best back goes 37 yards.
- 24:49Not going to be able to do that in a top 10 matchup on the road
- 24:52against the Georgia Kirby Smart coach team.
- 24:55It's not going to do it. It's not going to cut.
- 24:57So they were one-dimensional once again in a big game this
- 25:01season. Against Ohio State, it was the
- 25:04defense was holding there in the bark and the offense couldn't
- 25:07get anything done. Against Florida, it was the
- 25:11offense continue to turn the ball over and they couldn't
- 25:13establish the run, really couldn't do anything.
- 25:15But even against games against teams like Kentucky and
- 25:19Mississippi State, it's just been inconsistent.
- 25:22And I feel like that's the biggest concern with this team
- 25:25right now. They just cannot put together an
- 25:27all facets performance offensively and Saturday was not
- 25:31the time to have just 23 yards on the ground.
- 25:34Now we'll say it wasn't all just the run game.
- 25:37DeAndre Moore had a couple of significant drops.
- 25:40He had 7 targets, ended up with five receptions, but he did go
- 25:43for 75 yards. They just had a couple of really
- 25:45timely misses where Arch would deliver a really impressive
- 25:49ball, but it just would whiff, just would miss.
- 25:52So I thought that was key. And then Emmett Mosley, the 5th,
- 25:58the Stanford transfer, he goes 3 receptions for 66, getting about
- 26:02100. You know, 20 something yards for
- 26:04those guys is always important. But again, just really we're
- 26:08lacking that ground game. Sarkeesian now falls to one and
- 26:12seven against top five teams at Texas.
- 26:17Interesting, right? And this Georgia team really
- 26:22just has Sarkeesian and Texas's number beat him last year in the
- 26:27regular season, beat him again in the SEC championship and got
- 26:31him again this year. So no SEC championship for the
- 26:34Longhorns, but I'm not willing to rule them out of the College
- 26:39Football Playoff yet. William What?
- 26:41What Texas is still alive. I I think so.
- 26:48I think Texas can still make the College Football Playoff.
- 26:51I know it's not going to be a popular take and I know a lot of
- 26:54Big 10 and ACC people don't want to hear that, but Texas still
- 26:59has an opportunity. I think they're the 15th best
- 27:02team in the country right now and they're going to have the
- 27:04opportunity to beat Texas A&M in the final week of the season.
- 27:08They have the toughest schedule out of any of these bubble teams
- 27:11in the country. They had to go at Ohio State,
- 27:14they had to go at Georgia, they had to play Texas A&M.
- 27:18You know, the, the loss to Florida is tough, don't get me
- 27:21wrong. But when you look at this team
- 27:23on paper and you look at this team with the eye test, they
- 27:26belong on the field. Now the losses in in in terms of
- 27:29the final score or a little bit misleading because that game
- 27:33Saturday was not a 25 point beat down.
- 27:36It was more a fourth quarter barrage that Texas just couldn't
- 27:39stop a bleeding. But that was a 21 to 10 game
- 27:42with 14 minutes left to go in the fourth quarter.
- 27:46You know, they weren't prepared for the on side.
- 27:48I think Texas still has a shot. They need some help.
- 27:52But I think Texas at 9:00 and 3:00 with a win over Texas A&M
- 27:56would be right on the cusp of earning a College Football
- 27:59Playoff bid. You have to have a couple of
- 28:01teams lose ahead of you. You would need a BYU to lose to
- 28:04a Cincinnati. You would lose.
- 28:06You need a, you know, a Utah to fall out.
- 28:08You need Vanderbilt would have to lose to Tennessee.
- 28:10You'd have to have some help. Miami to a Pittsburgh as well.
- 28:14You'd have to have some help, but I think Texas could be that
- 28:17first three loss team. If there was ever a season to
- 28:19put a three loss team in and the teams ahead of them lost, I
- 28:24think Texas would have the best argument, a better argument than
- 28:27any of the teams last year. I know it's going to be
- 28:31unpopular, I know, but I think Texas could have a shot if they
- 28:36beat Texas A&M. All right, we'll switch now to
- 28:40the ACC slash non conference, no conference.
- 28:46We had Notre Dame and Pitt on Saturday, folks #9 Notre Dame
- 28:52travels to #22 Pittsburgh. This one was a Narduzzi as the
- 28:58Fighting Irish handle. Pittsburgh 37 to 15 in this one
- 29:03and pregame storylines here. Notre Dame playing for their
- 29:07College Football Playoff lives. Every time they step on the
- 29:10field again this season, do they get tripped up in a typical Pat
- 29:15Norduzzi Pittsburgh upset spot? That was kind of the question I
- 29:19had. And this is a pit team that's
- 29:21been playing really well. Like, they had just spun off
- 29:23five wins in a row after they changed the quarterback to Mason
- 29:28Heinstall. Mason Heinstall, I should say, a
- 29:31true freshman. They benched the Alabama
- 29:32transfer and they've been playing well.
- 29:36But in the fine print below, I said last week on the radio,
- 29:41look at the people they beat, look at the teams they beat.
- 29:45It's all ACC teams in the bottom, like 6 or 7.
- 29:50That was not intentional, by the way, not intentional 6-7, but
- 29:55like all in the bottom six or seven, eight teams in the ACC.
- 29:59So it's a little bit inflated, but they haven't playing good.
- 30:03But then you had Pat Narduzzi come out on Monday and said he
- 30:06didn't get, didn't care if this pit team lost by 100.
- 30:09And I'm like, oh, I don't, I don't like that answer.
- 30:12But then again, if you follow college football, this is just
- 30:15kind of how Pat Narduzzi does things.
- 30:17He said some stupid things and is a little quirky, but you just
- 30:20have to live with it. And then on Saturday on the
- 30:23college football game day set, or excuse me, a college game day
- 30:26set, I should say, he said it's Saturday, it's game day.
- 30:30I don't care what I said. Monday, we're ready to go.
- 30:31So then I felt confident. I was like, OK, we're going to
- 30:33get a good game. I was wrong because Notre Dame
- 30:39is playing really, really good football.
- 30:42I had Notre Dame -12 1/2 in this one.
- 30:44Really like that side had Georgia -6 1/2 too.
- 30:47We've started off with three games we covered on.
- 30:49So that's a good start, right? Notre Dame looked really good.
- 30:54Let's start on the defensive side of the ball because at the
- 30:56beginning of the season, if you go back to some of those
- 31:00original take away episodes, I know we had a little bit of a
- 31:04blip where we weren't doing them as often, but you know, we've
- 31:08we've gotten it back together. I gave a lot of strays to Chris
- 31:13Ash and I gave a lot of strays to Mike Denbrock, the two
- 31:16coordinators for this Notre Dame team.
- 31:18While I still have a little bit of an issue with Mike Denbrock,
- 31:22I might talk about it here in a minute.
- 31:24Chris Ash has turned things around.
- 31:26I, I called him Chris ass for a good bit because he was ass.
- 31:31This defense was ass against Miami and Texas A&M, but they've
- 31:37turned things around. And I get it, it's not as stiff
- 31:40of a competition, but they are playing good offenses like
- 31:43Arkansas. They played about a month ago,
- 31:46was a top 25, top 20 offense in the country at the time.
- 31:49The hell, I think it was even top ten and the defense shut
- 31:53them down. They shut down Boise State, they
- 31:55forced 3 turnovers, 4 turnovers. They shut down Navy last week, a
- 32:01Navy team that just beat South Florida this past weekend.
- 32:05Chris Ash and his defense have soundly responded from a lot of
- 32:10mistakes and miscues they had at the beginning of the season.
- 32:12So I feel like they have put the hand up and they have made-up
- 32:16for everything that went wrong because Pitt just did not look
- 32:20like they belonged on the field against this Notre Dame defense.
- 32:22219 yards in total, and that includes some pretty garbage
- 32:26time drives that Pitt was trying to put together to put up some
- 32:28points. 3.4 yards per play. The Panthers rushed for just 70
- 32:33yards at 2.8 yards a carry. Mason Heinstole, the quarterback
- 32:38that took over 5 or 6 weeks ago, goes 16 of 33 for 126 yards and
- 32:45an interception. Heinstrel just looked over his
- 32:47skis here. I love using that that
- 32:49terminology just over his skis because he was he did not look
- 32:53like he was comfortable out there.
- 32:55And granted, he's young, he's a freshman, He's played really,
- 32:58really well, gave him a lot of props.
- 32:59But this Notre Dame defense was a different beast.
- 33:02Desmond Reed, one of the best playmakers for this pit team,
- 33:06was banged up over the last month or so, but he sat out a
- 33:10couple of games to get healthy just for this one.
- 33:13He gets re injured in the third quarter in this one as well, but
- 33:17he goes 5 carries for just 12 yards, 6 receptions for 63 yards
- 33:21as a receiver. Again, King in on their best
- 33:23playmaker. That was big for Notre Dame, but
- 33:27I thought really what opened this thing up was that first
- 33:29pick six more like at the 836 mark in the first quarter and
- 33:35Notre Dame jumps 2 passes. One of them should have been an
- 33:38interception. The next one was a pick six.
- 33:40Heinstril just was not seeing the field correctly in that
- 33:43first half and really for the game, but I thought he settled
- 33:45in a little bit more as the game.
- 33:47It got a little bit more out of reach.
- 33:50But that first pick six really set set the tone, set the tone
- 33:54of Notre Dame's here. College game days over.
- 33:58The Pat McAfee field goal competition's over, Aaron Donald
- 34:03and Pat McAfee taking off their shirt pre.
- 34:05All that's over. Notre Dame has arrived.
- 34:07That pick 6 is what really made things settle in for me.
- 34:14Let's talk about this offense because I thought Notre Dame
- 34:18played really good ball given the circumstances because they
- 34:22didn't play clean per SE. They had eight penalties.
- 34:26They turned the ball over 2 times.
- 34:28Was not clean for them by any means, but given the situation I
- 34:33thought they played really well for for making up for those
- 34:36mistakes. CJ Carr, who I think is going to
- 34:39be a first round pick here in a couple of years.
- 34:41He goes 21 to 32 for 212 yards, 3 total touchdowns.
- 34:45Did have two interceptions, but he took advantage a couple of
- 34:48times of some pre snap penalties for Pittsburgh.
- 34:51Pitt gave up two big offsides penalties in this one.
- 34:56One of them resulted in a touchdown to Malachi Fields.
- 35:00We'll talk more about him in a minute because he was the guy I
- 35:02talked about this offseason that would make a big impact and he
- 35:05has. But they had a touchdown on one
- 35:08offsides penalty that they let play out.
- 35:11And then if I'm correct, he also had Malachi Fields also had a
- 35:14one handed catch on a free play as well.
- 35:18But CJ Carr, regardless, they had a couple of free plays and
- 35:21Carr made the most of it. And I think he's really good.
- 35:26You look at his numbers right now in terms of EPA passing
- 35:31percentages, PFF grades, PFF loves this kid.
- 35:35He's ranking second in a lot of major statistical categories.
- 35:38Maybe not after this week and after a couple of mistakes, but
- 35:41he's been damn good and is playing like the quarterback
- 35:44that they have talked about heading into this offseason.
- 35:47And it's just it's crazy watching this team right now,
- 35:51watching how they operate compared to what I watched in
- 35:53the first two games of the season forum, just how things
- 35:56have changed. But anyway, we'll talk about
- 35:57that here in a minute. And it's not even more of a
- 35:59thing about CJ Carr. It's more of a just how they
- 36:02operate. But continuing a big reason why
- 36:06they operate this way is Jeremiah Love.
- 36:09Jeremiah Love deserves your Heisman consideration.
- 36:12This guy is insane and he was last year too, in the offseason
- 36:17of so many great running backs coming into the year that you
- 36:20heard about Nick Singleton, K Tron Allen at Penn State were
- 36:23two of them. Jeremiah Love, Jerry and Bryce
- 36:25were some of them at Notre Dame, and they were also, you know,
- 36:28the Jonah Coleman's and Isaac Brown's of the world.
- 36:30There was some really impressive running backs, but no one has
- 36:35lived up to expectations and exceeded them like Jeremiah
- 36:38Loved. 23 carries, 147 yards and a touchdown. 6.4 yards per carry
- 36:43on Saturday against Pittsburgh and every single weekend he has
- 36:47a new highlight. Against Navy it was him bouncing
- 36:50off of a bunch of defenders thinking he was on the ground
- 36:53and then spurning A50 yard touchdown.
- 36:55On Saturday against Pitt it was doing a spin move that put the
- 36:58defender into like ANBA crossover from Allen Iverson,
- 37:02falling to his knees and bumping into another defender and
- 37:05rattling off a long touchdown run.
- 37:07Jeremiah Love is must CTV and is one of the main reasons why this
- 37:12Notre Dame offense is a well oiled machine right now.
- 37:17And I talk about the difference between what this group looked
- 37:21like in weeks 1 and and three technically their first two
- 37:24games of the season. They had a weird buy in Week 2.
- 37:27I talk about the difference from what they look like in those
- 37:29first two games to now. They give Jeremiah Love a lot
- 37:33more carries, a lot more touches.
- 37:35Against Miami and Texas A&M, it was let's work CJ Carr into this
- 37:39offense. But that's not how it worked
- 37:41last year and that's not how it should have worked at the
- 37:44beginning of this year. But Dan Brock has done a better
- 37:47job of realizing that and giving Love the football.
- 37:51And you put the ball in this guy's hands, there's going to be
- 37:54a big play to follow. He's tough as nails.
- 37:57I don't think we've seen a running back in back-to-back
- 38:00seasons as good as he is since like one of your favorite
- 38:05Alabama running backs really. I mean, I, I guess Ashton GNT is
- 38:08really is up there as one of the best ones, but like, it's a
- 38:13little bit different because Genti's going up against Fresno
- 38:16State and Notre Dame. I know they're not in a
- 38:18conference, but they play a pretty tough schedule or 30th
- 38:21toughest in the country. It's not like they're playing
- 38:23cupcakes. Jeremiah Love is just fun as
- 38:26hell to watch, man. One of my favorite players to
- 38:28watch this season and he's a big reason why this Notre Dame team
- 38:33is playing the way they are right now.
- 38:35The other thing I want to mention is Malachi Fields, the
- 38:40Virginia transfer. We talked about him in the
- 38:42offseason when we did our top 25 teams heading into the new year.
- 38:46I highlighted him as a potential #2 alongside Jane Greathouse.
- 38:51Well, we found a new number one and it's Malachi Fields 64222
- 38:58and this guy is every bit of that when he steps on the field.
- 39:02Puts that bill to work. 7 receptions for 99 yards and two
- 39:06touchdowns. He benefited off of one of those
- 39:09offsides penalties from Pittsburgh, but goes up and
- 39:12makes a herculean catch. Jumps up in the air, nabs it
- 39:17down, had an incredible 1 handed grab.
- 39:19Malachi Fields is exactly what Notre Dame needed this
- 39:22offseason. Notre Dame needed to go out into
- 39:26the portal and find a perimeter threat that can go make plays
- 39:29alongside a Jane Great House or a Faison.
- 39:32And Fields has been that. And he's starting to get some
- 39:34NFL recognition because he's that damn good and he deserves
- 39:38it. And Eli Rayardon as well at
- 39:42tight end, 6 receptions for 67 yards.
- 39:46He was really good, too, and he was reliable, Got a couple of
- 39:49his yards after catch were great Saturday.
- 39:52This is a really good Notre Dame team, folks.
- 39:55This is a really, really good Notre Dame team.
- 39:59And Notre Dame. Notre Dame is doing exactly what
- 40:04they did last season. Last year they lose to Northern
- 40:08Illinois in the early part of the season.
- 40:10Everyone writes them off. And they continue to climb
- 40:13throughout the year, get wins, get wins, get wins.
- 40:15But everyone's like, I look at that Northern Illinois loss.
- 40:18They don't play in a conference. Notre Dame shouldn't be in the
- 40:22College Football Playoff. And this year, it's a lot of the
- 40:24same thing. I look at how they began the
- 40:26season. They lost to Miami and Texas A
- 40:28and M2, top 15 teams in the country, by the way.
- 40:31And now they've won everything else.
- 40:32But it's like, look, look, look back.
- 40:36Oh, they're not a conference. Oh, it doesn't matter.
- 40:38Well, Pitts, not that good. Even though you had been ranked
- 40:41top 25 this past week. Well, USCI mean, come on there.
- 40:45Even though USC is going to be a top 15 team most likely this
- 40:49week or top, you know, 1617 in the country, Notre Dame now has
- 40:55two top 25 wins on the season and their two losses are two top
- 41:0015 teams. You go look at the SEC teams in
- 41:03the country right now, Alabama has two losses and one of them's
- 41:06the Florida State. So the discourse on Notre Dame
- 41:10is the same every year because people just don't like the non
- 41:14conference play. Not in the non conference team.
- 41:18It's an exhausting take at this point.
- 41:20This team is better than a lot of teams in the country and
- 41:23they're playing like it. This is a a group last year that
- 41:27spun off 10 games in a row and made it to the College Football
- 41:31Playoff championship, and they did so by double digits and
- 41:36almost all of them. And just like last year, no one
- 41:40is getting open on the secondary.
- 41:42Just like last year, Jeremiah Love is one of the best players
- 41:46in the country. And just like last year, Marcus
- 41:50Freeman is getting this team prepared each and every week.
- 41:54The difference from last year, I think they've got a better
- 41:56throwing quarterback. You tell me where this team
- 41:59goes. Notre Dame's legit folks.
- 42:02And this is a damn good football team.
- 42:04And they are doing exactly what they did last season.
- 42:07And you better get on the train right now before they start
- 42:10marching into January still playing football like they did
- 42:13last year. All right, let's move to chaos
- 42:19at Kyle Field. I didn't think I was going to
- 42:20have to talk about this game. And, you know, I'm, I'm sitting
- 42:23there Saturday. Every every Saturday.
- 42:25I'd chill at my place. William, you're so lame.
- 42:28You're 23 and you sit at your apartment every Saturday in
- 42:31front of the TV. Hell yeah.
- 42:33I like it. It's fun.
- 42:38And YouTube TV was back, so I had more of the reason to do so.
- 42:44Have the quad box up and do so. Always do the quad box.
- 42:47I've got a 75 inch TV solid, you know, slight flex.
- 42:52The couch, my old couch from my college house called the Brown
- 42:56Bear. Brown Bear parked about 6 feet
- 42:59away. So really it's like I've got 4
- 43:00big TV's. And then on my other TV, which
- 43:03is kind of behind me for the viewing audience, kind of behind
- 43:06me to the left, it's my bedroom TV that I flip around.
- 43:10I have a ESPN game on. It's like on the ESPN app.
- 43:14So I have 5 games going on at once so I can watch all the
- 43:17action. And I had to, I, you know, I had
- 43:21the South Carolina game on. But I, it's just because it was
- 43:23a 12:00 window. Let's throw what I think the
- 43:26best games are on. I had no idea what I was in for.
- 43:31I mean, coming into this, who would have really circled this
- 43:35one? Now, it is important to note
- 43:37South Carolina ran through A&M last year 44 to 20.
- 43:42And that was kind of an emotional win because A&M had
- 43:45just come off the win against LSU in Death Valley or one in
- 43:52Death Valley. It was in it was in Kyle Field.
- 43:53Excuse me. They won that game in Kyle
- 43:56Field. And that's when Connor Weakman
- 43:59got benched, Marcel Reed got unveiled.
- 44:02But they were coming off that win and then went to go play
- 44:04South Carolina. And then South Carolina drilled
- 44:07them 4420. They crashed the field.
- 44:09You had South Carolina fans grabbing towels and smearing it
- 44:12into the center of the field trying to get a souvenir.
- 44:15It was weird, but it was a big win.
- 44:17And that's what like that's what Beamer does in in November.
- 44:22He gets these wins that you didn't really expect.
- 44:24But they, I mean, obviously South Carolina last year strung
- 44:27off a couple of these. They beat A&M and then beat
- 44:29Clemson the final week of the season.
- 44:31But no one was anticipating this South Carolina team to do it.
- 44:35And then right before kickoff, Mike Elko signs the contract
- 44:39extension through 2031 to keep him in College Station. 6 year
- 44:43deal worth up to $10 million annually, up from 7,000,000 per
- 44:47year. So that guy's done his job.
- 44:50He gets a pay raise and an upcoming crazy college football
- 44:54landscape. And in terms of coaches,
- 44:57everything's going well. Everything's sunshine and
- 44:59rainbows, and then a storm comes in and it almost looks like it's
- 45:02too much to handle. Disastrous first half for the
- 45:05Aggies. South Carolina out gains A&M 312
- 45:10to 132 at halftime. The Gamecocks average 8 yards
- 45:15per play to A&M's 4 and discrepancies like that this
- 45:20season and in which the yards per play average is between is 4
- 45:25points or more. The average margin of victory in
- 45:29those games is 44 1/2 like that. That does not have.
- 45:35That should not happen against A&M.
- 45:38Marcel Reed was a big reason why though.
- 45:40He goes 6 of 19 for 141 yards and three turnovers in the first
- 45:45half. It got to the point.
- 45:48Well, I'll backtrack. I've had a tough time tweeting
- 45:51as of late. So I ended up on freezing cold
- 45:56takes a week ago for my Jaguars take, thinking the Jaguars had
- 46:00been the Texans. Obviously that went S Saturday,
- 46:03hopped back on the on the phone and tweeted out, you know how
- 46:07impressed I was with Marcel Reed because he made it.
- 46:09He made a really impressive throw to KC Concepcion down the
- 46:12seam of the field and it was in a double coverage.
- 46:15Planted it perfectly and I was like, man, last year he's a
- 46:18little bit of A1 trick pony, a guy that was a good runner but
- 46:21limited in the air. This year he's established
- 46:23himself as a guy that is almost elite in that level.
- 46:27And then he spurned out the one of the worst performances I've
- 46:30ever seen from a quarterback and 1/2 for a top ten team maybe
- 46:34ever. 6 of 19141, three turnovers, horrible.
- 46:40They're down 30 to 3:00 at halftime in most cases.
- 46:43That is a loss. That is a chalk that is fans are
- 46:47leaving the stands and it is over.
- 46:50Hell, you even have the police officers getting involved in
- 46:53this one. I, I'm sure everyone saw that
- 46:55over the weekend. Nick Harbour bumping in, or
- 46:58excuse me, the police officer, I should say, bumping into Nick
- 47:01Harbour and his teammates. That was ridiculous.
- 47:04But everything went wrong for Texas A&M.
- 47:09But the Aggies showed up in the second-half.
- 47:12You had us in the first half, they said, as Marcel Reed then
- 47:16goes 16 for 20 for 298 yards and three touchdowns in that
- 47:21second-half. A&M was really, really good on
- 47:244th down. They had two of them in that
- 47:27second-half to extend drives and one of them.
- 47:30So they come out, they score, they make it 30 to 10, and they
- 47:35had another fourth down on that second drive.
- 47:39Yeah, they had whipped on that one.
- 47:40Things could have gotten a little bit interesting because
- 47:42even at the end of this game they were running out of
- 47:44possessions. Like they would have had a had
- 47:46an opportunity to go up 3830, but that still would have been
- 47:50A1 possession game. So if they didn't have that,
- 47:52they very well could have been, excuse me, talk about these
- 47:55fourth down conversions. That is, if they didn't have
- 47:57both of those, they could have been out of this game or having
- 48:01to drive against the clock to win the game.
- 48:05But they go 2 for two on 4th down.
- 48:08Marcel Reid was really comfortable hit a hit a crossing
- 48:10route to a wide open receiver. They were able to get a first
- 48:13down move down the field and and get scores.
- 48:17I thought Reid was much more composed and much more dialed
- 48:21in. I, I, I really don't know what
- 48:23to make of the first half. It was just awful.
- 48:24I got to the point where I was tween up, tween out and all
- 48:26caps. What is Marcel Reid doing?
- 48:28Because what, what are they doing with 27 seconds left in
- 48:31the first half? Zipping it into double coverage.
- 48:33Just Oh my gosh, it was mind boggling, but they were really
- 48:37good on 4th down in the second-half.
- 48:39South Carolina just 76 yards in the second-half in total for the
- 48:44game, Texas A&M goes five O 3. And look, this was not
- 48:50impressive for Texas A&M to at least on the scoreboard win by
- 48:55one point to South Carolina. Like if you do if you're a
- 48:58scoreboard watcher. And this is no offense to my
- 49:01mother, but my mother texted me Saturday afternoon says Texas
- 49:06A&M beat South Carolina by one. Are they really the number three
- 49:10team in the country? I'm like, well, they were down
- 49:1130 to 3. So, you know, scoreboard
- 49:14watching is a little bit different than watching not a
- 49:17stray. Once again, I'm not getting a
- 49:18straight to my mom. I'm just saying you watch the
- 49:21game and that saw how it unfolded.
- 49:23You're like, whoa, but if you're at a game on Saturday and and
- 49:26just checked your phone, you're like 30 to 31 or you're 31 to
- 49:2930. And that's not an impressive
- 49:31win, but it was the largest comeback in Texas A&M history.
- 49:37And according to ESPNSEC, teams have been O and 286 in games in
- 49:42which they trail by 27 points since 2004.
- 49:45Make that one 286 now, because Texas A&M was able to do that.
- 49:52This is the first time the Aggies have won ten games in a
- 49:54season since 2012, and it's only the program's third double digit
- 49:58win season in the last 30 years. Mike Elko, man, give him some
- 50:03credit and I will because I thought this was a good hire
- 50:11when they got them. Elko was with this group under
- 50:15Jimbo Fisher not too long ago. He was a defensive coordinator
- 50:20and the Aggies had a top 25 defense all three years he was
- 50:23there. This is a guy that can coach.
- 50:24It was never debate about that. And at Texas A&M, when the
- 50:27they've got the type of resources they have and the type
- 50:30of money they have, you now have to field a roster but be able to
- 50:34coach these guys. And Elko has done that.
- 50:37Marcel Reed's a guy that we went up against my senior year in
- 50:40high school. He he played at Montgomery Bell
- 50:42Academy in Nashville and he was a, he was a freshman that year
- 50:45and he was dazzling all over the place.
- 50:46So there was no question this guy was going to be a * and he
- 50:50is. He's very good.
- 50:52It was not great first half, but he was really good in the
- 50:54second-half. And if you just contextualize
- 50:57it, no other team since 2004 has ever done this.
- 51:01What what what A&M did Saturday? They're not a lot of teams that
- 51:04could. I know going down 30 to 3 is
- 51:07embarrassing, but finding a way to win Despite that is really
- 51:13impressive for South Carolina. I don't know what to make of
- 51:17this group other than the fact that the offensive line hates
- 51:20Lenora Sellers. He's been sacked 37 times this
- 51:22season and FBS best or worst, whatever you want to call it.
- 51:26I don't think that's a good stat, but it it's the most in
- 51:29the country, we'll say most. And if you're Shane Beamer, grow
- 51:35up. You're a head coach of a
- 51:38football team in the SEC hyping up the crowd like it you're
- 51:43you're up in the national championship game at halftime,
- 51:47Brother, you are three and six in this game now, three and
- 51:51seven following the loss. So you're up 30 to three against
- 51:55the number three team in the country.
- 51:57There's nothing to gloat about yet.
- 51:58As Kobe Bryant used to say, the job's not done.
- 52:00Job's not finished. Well, it wasn't finished and you
- 52:03didn't finish the project. You know, it's it's like they
- 52:08it's it's like he got dressed but forgot his pants.
- 52:12You know, just done work. Can't show up to a company event
- 52:16without pants on, can you? Shane Beamer?
- 52:18No, this was embarrassing. And I don't think he's like a
- 52:26bad guy. I don't he's like quirky.
- 52:29He's he's interesting, like Eli drink once everyone has an
- 52:32opinion about that. I don't think like Beamer.
- 52:34I think I would like him if I were like a part of the team.
- 52:38I'm sure he's a team guy, but like, as a analyst and as a fan
- 52:43watching this, that doesn't look like a serious coach that's
- 52:49hyping up the crowd as he walks into the halftime locker room.
- 52:55That looks like a guy that you could possibly implode and it
- 52:59did. Why do you ever see Nick Saban
- 53:04hyping up the crowd? Do you ever see who's your
- 53:07favorite coaches? Do you ever see any of those
- 53:10guys do that? Kirby Smart.
- 53:11Is Kirby Smart hyping up the crowd up 30 to 3 1/2 time on the
- 53:14road? That's that's the three and six
- 53:17team. No, he'd never be 3 and 6.
- 53:22I don't know. This might be might be rock
- 53:23bottom for Shane Beamer. And I, I put a post out earlier
- 53:27or on Sunday of him walking off the field and I've got people in
- 53:31that in the comments section saying that, well, he's brought
- 53:35us to three bowls. Is that, is that the goal for
- 53:38South Carolina to make bowl games?
- 53:41I would hope not. This was a team that was in the
- 53:43SEC Championship a couple of times in the 20 tens.
- 53:47I, I don't, I hope that's not the the goal to make bowl games
- 53:52in 2025. We're talking about bowl games
- 53:54and you've got Lenora Sellers and Dylan Stewart through the
- 53:56best players of their own position.
- 53:58That surely can't be right. So Congrats to Texas A&M, big
- 54:02win. All right, other notable results
- 54:05that we won't go as in depth in, but they are still important #17
- 54:10USC defeats #21 Iowa and hurricane like conditions.
- 54:14The final was 2621. USC trailed 21 to 10 at halftime
- 54:19in this one. I bet USC -6 1/2.
- 54:22They ended up not getting the two point conversion.
- 54:25That's why they only won by 5 as opposed to seven.
- 54:27But this was an interesting game because there was horrible
- 54:32weather before the game. They have the tarps on the
- 54:34field. The crowd was it was what it
- 54:37was. It was it was pouring rain.
- 54:39Everyone was wearing ponchos. Not like it was a very
- 54:42redeemable opportunity for a lot of people.
- 54:46Like you got to go send the rain and watch Iowa football, which I
- 54:50don't mind sometimes. By the way, I thought Iowa,
- 54:52Oregon was the best game of the week last week, but not a
- 54:56exciting brand to see. Like USC tried to have to dip
- 54:59down and play that style and and Iowa did that in the first half.
- 55:02I thought they controlled this game and control the pace.
- 55:05But quickly USC got a couple of stops and they got it done in
- 55:08the air. Jane Mayava, 23 to 32 for 254
- 55:12and a touchdown gets it to his playmakers Jacoby Lane and
- 55:15Malachi Lemon. Like Malik Lemon, I should say
- 55:18two of the best receivers in the country.
- 55:20Both guys are going to be in the NFL.
- 55:22They're really good and the conditions were not great.
- 55:26But USC outscores Iowa, 16 to nothing in the second-half.
- 55:30They get things going in the air.
- 55:32They fend off the weather conditions a good bit.
- 55:35But I'd really say the big take away here outside of just
- 55:39finding a way to win in the second-half, I thought they ran
- 55:41the ball well and Iowa has been one of the best run defenses in
- 55:44the country throughout the season.
- 55:46But they allowed a ton of rushing yards to Oregon.
- 55:50They've never they had not allowed more than 80 yards on
- 55:52the season, 85 yards on the season before Oregon and they
- 55:55allowed Oregon to run for like 152 hundred.
- 55:58Something like that was a ton. And in this one, USC, not a run
- 56:02first team by any means, goes for over 100 yards and King
- 56:05Miller gets 19 carries for 83 yards.
- 56:09Hawkeyes now back-to-back weeks of allowing over 100 yards to a
- 56:14Big Ten offense. I get, I get it, they're they're
- 56:16better opponents. But Iowa would have played some
- 56:18good teams before that, Indiana being one of them, and they
- 56:21didn't have that type of success on the ground.
- 56:23So 2 concerning performances from Iowa's defense.
- 56:26I do like the Hawkeyes, but I wouldn't anticipating the run
- 56:32game being as big of a thing for USC as it was.
- 56:38Let's see, that's a, that's an old one.
- 56:39All right, the Lane Kiffin Bowl. Let's discuss that one and we'll
- 56:44talk Lane Kiffin as well. Actually, I'm going to check my
- 56:47phone and make sure we don't have any Lane Kiffin news
- 56:50because I never know with this guy anymore if he's going to
- 56:54pick up and leave. I feel like I would have gotten
- 56:59a couple of seconds. Let's say no, no Lane Kiffin
- 57:04news, no Lane Kiffin news. No Lane Kiffin goes, we're good,
- 57:06we're good. And I don't think easily.
- 57:10I mean, I'll show you what I know here in a minute, but you
- 57:14just never know. Like I, I knew James Franklin
- 57:16was going to take the Virginia Tech job, but I didn't know when
- 57:20per SE because they kind of put him in an ultimatum of if you
- 57:23don't take this job over the weekend, we'll give you till
- 57:25Monday. If not, we're going to move on.
- 57:27And Franklin was considering a possible opening at Florida
- 57:33State and was also having some conversations with people at
- 57:36Arkansas, but ultimately, they couldn't give a firm answer
- 57:39either side. So he's like, all right, let's
- 57:40just take the sure, for sure gig.
- 57:43And that also was a part of this buyout with Penn State.
- 57:45So now he gets to pay the full amount.
- 57:50So I don't blame him by any means.
- 57:52But that's all to say, coaching carousel is going to be really
- 57:55crazy. That's why I had to check for
- 57:57Lane Kiffin. But let's talk about that Kiffin
- 57:59Bowl, because Key 1 Lacey helps this number 7 Ole Miss team fend
- 58:06off a Florida team that continued their bipolar trend of
- 58:09football. Play really bad one week and
- 58:12then somehow fix everything the next week and play a lot better
- 58:15with a competitive team. That's what they did this week.
- 58:17They ended up losing 34 to 24 scores.
- 58:20A little bit misleading. It should have been 24 to well
- 58:25on 24. It should have been.
- 58:28It should have been 2724. Excuse me?
- 58:30Oma scored with like a minute 30 because Florida stalled out at
- 58:33the goal line. Anyway, the key one, Lacy goes
- 58:36224 yards and three touchdowns. The transfer from Missouri has
- 58:40been incredible, and he's fun, too.
- 58:43He's got this deal with Genteel and Oxford.
- 58:45Every time he scores a touchdown you get 25% off a belt B2 a
- 58:50really cool trend there And and and the Ole Miss fans have been
- 58:54really nice to the Padifax this year.
- 58:57Lane Kiffin hit me with a repost.
- 58:59Kiwan Lacey did as well. I like this crew.
- 59:01They're fun. So B2A Kiwan Lacey good
- 59:06performance Saturday. Revs total 538 yards of total
- 59:10offense against a good but banged up Florida defense.
- 59:13Trinidad Chambliss goes 26 of 35 for three O 1 and 1 touchdown.
- 59:19But here the the thing with this one is the Gators continue to be
- 59:21so bipolar. This is a good Florida team in
- 59:25terms of personnel, but they can't put it together and the
- 59:28defense really struggled over the course of this one in terms
- 59:33of the yardage allowed. Now they got stops specifically
- 59:37like they had a fourth and goal stop that was really, really big
- 59:40right before the half. That was great.
- 59:43They held them to a field goal and they had another fourth down
- 59:46stop a little bit later on, but the yards continue to rack up to
- 59:50where Ole Miss had a lot of opportunities.
- 59:53GGJ Lagway goes 16 of 31218. Two total touchdowns.
- 59:57Did have an interception. GJ Lagway just can't play a game
- 1:00:00without an IMT. And then Jane Ball goes 61 yards
- 1:00:03for a touchdown on the ground. I would have liked to see more
- 1:00:05of him in this one, but Florida sometimes gets really pass
- 1:00:09happy. And with the pace of this game,
- 1:00:11you, you saw a little bit of that Lagaway honestly could have
- 1:00:14been like 26 of 27 if they didn't, you know, have to start
- 1:00:18zipping out passes late. But overall, this is just what
- 1:00:22Florida is. They'll be competitive.
- 1:00:24They'll stick around in games, They'll give you a fight.
- 1:00:27J Michael Sturdivant had a really nice touchdown in this
- 1:00:29one. It was a great ball from DJ
- 1:00:31Lagway to one of his two touchdowns on the night, but
- 1:00:35ultimately this is just a better Ole Miss team defensively and
- 1:00:38all. And offensively playing really
- 1:00:40motivated as well. A great crowd at Vault,
- 1:00:43Hemingway Stadium and the Lane Kiffin Bowl.
- 1:00:46At least early goes to Ole Miss, but this could get really
- 1:00:51interesting. So last week got a text.
- 1:00:56Lane Kiffin does not know what he's going to do yet.
- 1:01:00And one thing that's really bothered me over the last couple
- 1:01:02of weeks and really the last month is everyone is everyone's
- 1:01:06got a source, right? I've heard this, I've heard
- 1:01:08that. And I'm not saying that I'm
- 1:01:13inevitable and I am better than everyone and I know more than
- 1:01:16everyone, even though some people believe that I have that
- 1:01:19type of personality to them, which is not true.
- 1:01:22And, and a lot of it is like in a joking way for the people that
- 1:01:25don't know me personally, but like about sports, like I give
- 1:01:30my opinion and I'm firm to it. And some people take that as he
- 1:01:34can never be wrong. I don't necessarily believe
- 1:01:37that, but I believe in everything I say.
- 1:01:40And I'll have an argument for it.
- 1:01:43And I say that because I'll tell you what I've heard.
- 1:01:46And I feel like this is pretty accurate because the people I
- 1:01:49get it from are pretty good too. Lane Kevin honestly doesn't know
- 1:01:54what he wants to do yet. And last week on the message
- 1:01:57boards, everyone say he's going to Florida.
- 1:01:59Now people are saying he's going to LSU.
- 1:02:01His family was in Gainesville on Sunday.
- 1:02:03His family was in Gainesville at LSU on Monday.
- 1:02:07And those are both true. They were there, they're
- 1:02:09touring, they're they're taking a visit.
- 1:02:11Kiffin's not there. But I know that Kiffin does not
- 1:02:16know what he wants to do yet. And that is a fact.
- 1:02:18He doesn't know what he wants to do yet.
- 1:02:20So I don't care who tells you that.
- 1:02:21He hasn't made a decision as of this recording on November 17th
- 1:02:26at 9:25. This comes out Tuesday morning.
- 1:02:29So maybe things have changed. But as things currently stand,
- 1:02:31he doesn't know what he's doing. And I do know that Florida is
- 1:02:36prepared to give him a very lucrative offer.
- 1:02:40Florida's preparing to make him one of the highest paid coaches
- 1:02:43in college football. The highest paid coach in
- 1:02:46college football, if my source and number is correct.
- 1:02:52And that's a lot to to to weigh on, you know, do you want to
- 1:02:56continue to be the guy at Ole Miss and build your own legacy,
- 1:03:01build a, you know, possibly build a statue there and they
- 1:03:03might even give them one already?
- 1:03:05Or do you want to go to Florida, which is the bigger program?
- 1:03:08A little bit of a better recruiting opportunity, a better
- 1:03:11recruiting pool for sure. And try to bring back a program
- 1:03:17that has continued to kind of be up and down over the last, you
- 1:03:21know, 15 years. They've had some really good
- 1:03:22moments. They've had some really down
- 1:03:23moments. But Kiffin doesn't know what he
- 1:03:27wants to do yet. LSU is involved with it as well.
- 1:03:29But I'd say there's more ties to Florida currently than there are
- 1:03:33the Tigers. But there could be another
- 1:03:37option. I'll talk more about that at the
- 1:03:38end of the show. But Kiffin does not know what he
- 1:03:41wants to do. And he's going to be offered a
- 1:03:43very lucrative amount of money from Florida.
- 1:03:45I'm not going to give the exact number, but it would be to make
- 1:03:49him the highest paid coach in college football if he were to
- 1:03:52accept that Florida job. Couple more real quick.
- 1:03:56Clemson nabs an upset win over Louisville.
- 1:03:59Was really impressed with this one.
- 1:04:01This was another Paddafax Padda Locks play at Clemson +2 units
- 1:04:05at plus 2.5 + 2 1/2 was the number I should say.
- 1:04:10And then the money line too. Look, Clemson has been through a
- 1:04:13tough season. They're my number one team in
- 1:04:15the country coming in. I know it has not gone well.
- 1:04:18I already put the hand up, pants down, everything.
- 1:04:20I got it. But this team continues to fight
- 1:04:23and this team continues to play like they've got something to
- 1:04:26play for. Kate Klumnick, an experienced
- 1:04:30veteran quarterback, not giving up on the season.
- 1:04:34Dabo Sweeney, a guy that's been through the UPS of college
- 1:04:37football and the downs of college football, he's not
- 1:04:40giving up. They've got guys like Antonio
- 1:04:42Williams who are going to be in the NFL here soon.
- 1:04:45They're still playing like there's something to play for.
- 1:04:47TJ Parker and all these other really talented defensive
- 1:04:51players, Avion Terrell, They have still got the mindset of
- 1:04:56we're playing for something this season.
- 1:04:58And that's that's pride, that's passion.
- 1:05:00And they showed that Saturday or it's going to be Friday against
- 1:05:02Louisville. Louisville's a team that was on
- 1:05:04the brink of cracking. Clemson cracked them.
- 1:05:08Adam Randall, a wide receiver that converted to running back,
- 1:05:12goes for 15 carries for 105 yards and two touchdowns, one of
- 1:05:15his best games of the season. And the Cardinals out gain the
- 1:05:20Tigers 385 to three O 8. But they got in their own way
- 1:05:24with some mental mistakes and Clemson had a fair share of
- 1:05:27their own. But they continue to fight.
- 1:05:29You can think whatever you want about Dabo Sweeney.
- 1:05:32You can think about whatever you want to believe about Clemson
- 1:05:35this year and how they were disappointing.
- 1:05:37But and the end of the day, there are a lot of teams in the
- 1:05:39country right now. They're in the exact same
- 1:05:41position as Clemson that have given up and checked out.
- 1:05:46LSU right now. I know they got a big win on
- 1:05:48Saturday for their standards. Look like a team that was a
- 1:05:51little bit checked out for most of that one.
- 1:05:54Arkansas little bit checked out. TCU kind of looks like a team
- 1:05:58that's checked out. They were checked out Saturday
- 1:06:01against BYU. Florida State for the most part,
- 1:06:03A-Team that's checked out. I don't give a damn if they beat
- 1:06:06Virginia Tech Clemson might not be in a good spot right now,
- 1:06:10might not have had a good season, but don't tell them that
- 1:06:13because they don't care. They continue to fight and they
- 1:06:17continue to play football. It's not the cleanest product,
- 1:06:22and Dabo Sweeney will tell you that.
- 1:06:23Kate Klumnick will tell you that.
- 1:06:25But they continue to find out a hell of a lot of lot of respect
- 1:06:27for that. Finally, Navy derails South
- 1:06:30Florida's College Football Playoff hopes.
- 1:06:32Everyone told me, Oh my gosh, Alex Golish, Alec Golish, Alex
- 1:06:36Golish is going to go get a powerful job.
- 1:06:39Alex Golish is going to go save the world somewhere.
- 1:06:42I like Alex Golish. I covered Tennessee for a
- 1:06:44living. I know all about it.
- 1:06:47But we got way too ahead of ourselves on saying Alex Golish
- 1:06:51is going to go be the next big thing in the SEC or the ACC.
- 1:06:57He's got to handle what's in front of him.
- 1:06:59And what was in front of him on Saturday is a Navy team that
- 1:07:01just got run off the field against Notre Dame the week
- 1:07:06before. I get it, Blake Horvath wasn't
- 1:07:08available. He played in this one, but it
- 1:07:11wasn't even necessarily him that was the difference maker per SE.
- 1:07:14Because Braxton Woodson, the guy that played against Notre Dame,
- 1:07:17still had 9 carries for 103 yards and two touchdowns in this
- 1:07:20one. Alex Tesca still had 12 carries
- 1:07:22for 126 yards and a touchdown in this one.
- 1:07:25Horvath had 207 total yards overall and a touchdown, which
- 1:07:29was really benefit. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:07:32Beneficial, I should say. Yeah, But South Carolina, South
- 1:07:36Florida should not have been in this type of spot, this type of
- 1:07:41situation. They got in their own way.
- 1:07:43This is a very talented team. But everyone told me this was
- 1:07:46going to be the Group of Five bid.
- 1:07:49And excuse me and this American Conference is too talented for
- 1:07:56us to just pinpoint one team as the winner.
- 1:07:59Again, I'm sorry, I don't know. Must have gotten some dust in my
- 1:08:02nostrils. Everyone told me that it Alex
- 1:08:06Goldwich was going to go get some gigs somewhere.
- 1:08:08I think he's a really good coach.
- 1:08:09I think he's a really good offensive coach specifically,
- 1:08:12but I don't think he's a guy that's ready to go take over a
- 1:08:14powerful level school. And losses like Saturday are
- 1:08:18examples. Why losses against, you know, a
- 1:08:22Memphis where you're up double digits with less than six months
- 1:08:25to go are reasons why South Florida's a good team.
- 1:08:29But we got way too of ahead of ourselves on Alex Golish having
- 1:08:33one really good season at South Florida.
- 1:08:38All right, real quick, My top 25 teams in college football
- 1:08:45heading into Week 13. Let's go down the list real
- 1:08:49quick re entering this week #25 Houston.
- 1:08:55The Cougars going to win over the weekend, though it was
- 1:08:58narrow. They are back in the top 25
- 1:09:01because there are a lot of teams that are losing in front of them
- 1:09:03#24 Navy. They jump in as South Florida
- 1:09:06drops. They find their first appearance
- 1:09:08on the William Patterson pole #23 Tulane.
- 1:09:12This is their third reappearance of the season.
- 1:09:14They've dropped out a couple of times when they find their way
- 1:09:16back into it #22 Missouri. Missouri re enters following
- 1:09:21their drop out a couple of weeks ago following the loss to Texas
- 1:09:26A&M. But they're back this week after
- 1:09:28an impressive win over Mississippi State #21 my highest
- 1:09:32ranked group of five team, the North Texas Mean Green.
- 1:09:36They are good at football, folks, and I love this offense.
- 1:09:40Drew Mesta Maker must see TV. Eric Morris, you need to do your
- 1:09:44homework on him. This guy's a quarterback guru,
- 1:09:46and he's doing the same at UNT this year #20 Virginia.
- 1:09:51They get a win over Duke, though it wasn't what I had
- 1:09:54anticipated. They get the win and they did it
- 1:09:56pretty comfortably #19 Tennessee.
- 1:09:58Yes, they have 3 losses, but this is a group that has lost to
- 1:10:01the number four team in the country, the number 8 team in
- 1:10:04the country, and the number 9 team in the country.
- 1:10:06And all of them have been relatively close throughout the
- 1:10:08course of the game #18 Georgia Tech.
- 1:10:11I don't love this one. They barely escaped Boston
- 1:10:13College. I'm not a big Georgia Tech fan.
- 1:10:15I'll have Pittsburgh beating them here in a couple of weeks,
- 1:10:18but for now, they only got one loss.
- 1:10:20They have to stick around. Michigan nearly escapes
- 1:10:23Northwestern at Wrigley Field on Saturday.
- 1:10:25Not the nicest game for them overall, but they find a way to
- 1:10:29win. They stick around #16 USC.
- 1:10:33They have the head to head win over Michigan, so they find a
- 1:10:35spot above #15 I dropped Texas to this spot.
- 1:10:39I know there are three lost team.
- 1:10:40I know a lot of people don't believe in them, but I think
- 1:10:43they're better than the teams behind them.
- 1:10:45And if they were, this was a neutral site game.
- 1:10:48A neutral site field was in play and Texas and USC lined up.
- 1:10:52I believe Texas would be the favorite.
- 1:10:55Number 14 Miami, the Hurricanes still have that loss to SMU,
- 1:11:00still have that loss to Louisville.
- 1:11:02That now looks a little bit more unimpressive.
- 1:11:05But they handle business this weekend against the bad NC State
- 1:11:09team. They stick around Utah at 13.
- 1:11:13Utah does have a big time win over Cincinnati, but they lose
- 1:11:16over the weekend. That wind does not look as
- 1:11:18strong. And you start to evaluate
- 1:11:20things. Maybe they might be a little bit
- 1:11:22overrated. BYU beat them at home.
- 1:11:26BYU won at home, that is. But Utah was a favorite.
- 1:11:29And Utah got run off the field by Texas Tech in their own
- 1:11:32building with the Red Raiders having a backup quarterback #12
- 1:11:35BYU. They handle business against
- 1:11:37TCUI. Still don't love this team in
- 1:11:39terms of their offense, but their defense is legit #11
- 1:11:42Vanderbilt. They play Kentucky and Tennessee
- 1:11:45to round out the season. A couple of big ones as their
- 1:11:47College Football Playoff hopes are still in the balance #10
- 1:11:51Notre Dame. Just one spot behind a team that
- 1:11:54I debated for with for a minute. I went with a better win.
- 1:11:58Notre Dame has better losses than this team ahead of them,
- 1:12:01but the team in front of them has the better win and that's
- 1:12:03Alabama. With the win on the road against
- 1:12:06Georgia #8 it's Oklahoma. They beat Alabama head to
- 1:12:23And that's number five Texas Tech who swamped UCF this
- 1:12:28weekend. Eric Rodgers, Me.
- 1:12:30Jacob Rodriguez. Jacob Rodriguez, linebacker.
- 1:12:34Heisman consideration, please. Had a touchdown this weekend.
- 1:12:37He's now up to 97 tackles on the season, 7 forced fumbles, 2
- 1:12:43touchdowns in total, a defensive and offensive, and four
- 1:12:46interceptions. This guy is a stud.
- 1:12:48Please get this guy to New York and the number 432 and one goes
- 1:12:53Georgia, Texas A&M, Indiana, Ohio State, respectively.
- 1:12:57My top 25 teams in the country. No, I do not have JMU.
- 1:13:01I'm not like the AP poll that just tries to throw the edgy
- 1:13:04Group of Five team in there for fun.
- 1:13:06JMU's best win is not impressive.
- 1:13:11They haven't beat anyone and their losses to Louisville and
- 1:13:15we saw how Louisville has rounded out this year.
- 1:13:17So not ranked in my book yet. We'll see if they impress me
- 1:13:21anymore, but like beating Marshall by like 10 points is
- 1:13:24not doing it for me. I don't care if you're 9 and
- 1:13:27one, I want to see who you are beating and their best
- 1:13:32opportunity to be a team with a pulse did not go well, so not
- 1:13:36ranked for me. Finally, let's round it out with
- 1:13:39my final thoughts. And that is going to be a little
- 1:13:44Intel on what could go down this offseason.
- 1:13:48I'm not going to give the specifics.
- 1:13:49I will hint at it right now. But I'm just saying, watch how
- 1:13:57college football could be shaken up if Steve Sarkisian leaves
- 1:14:02Texas, If Steve Sarkisian leaves to go to the NFL, which he has
- 1:14:09hinted at, whether it was him directly or someone from his
- 1:14:15camp coming out and saying something, everything comes out
- 1:14:17for a reason. By the way, folks, everything
- 1:14:18comes out for a reason. You tell me why The Athletic
- 1:14:22comes out with a report heading into the final month of the
- 1:14:26season and in November that Steve Sarkisian is possibly
- 1:14:32looking at NFL opportunities. Why would that come out?
- 1:14:35Who would put that out there? Who would have that
- 1:14:36conversation? Well, it's coming from Steve
- 1:14:39Sarkisian, most likely. So there's a possibility that
- 1:14:43SART takes that jump to the New York Giants or takes that jump
- 1:14:46to the Tennessee Titans. I think more likely the the the
- 1:14:50first option being New York. But if he takes that job, that
- 1:14:55Texas job opens up. Let's connect some dots here
- 1:14:59real quick. Maybe you can piece it together
- 1:15:01for me. I don't have to tell you Josh
- 1:15:04Pate, the future college football commissioner who one
- 1:15:07day I will have on this podcast. I promise I will have Josh Pay
- 1:15:11on this podcast at some point. He goes on busting with the
- 1:15:16boys. I don't listen to that and I
- 1:15:17don't really listen to podcast period.
- 1:15:19I like to form my own opinions. I don't listen to anyone besides
- 1:15:21me, but I do like Josh Pay and I listen to him from time to time.
- 1:15:25And Joel Klatt, but that's not important.
- 1:15:30He goes watch for Lincoln Riley at USC and then that was the
- 1:15:37last thing he said before ending his cameo on the show.
- 1:15:41Lincoln Riley at USC. So Steve Sarkisian leaves Texas,
- 1:15:49Lincoln and that USC job would become open, right?
- 1:15:56Well, who would take that USC job?
- 1:16:01Well, the former Washington AD is now at USC and the Washington
- 1:16:07AD was with a long time West Coast guy that is currently.
- 1:16:15And if that were to happen, maybe Lane Kiffin wouldn't go to
- 1:16:21Florida or LSU and maybe he would take the job, the only job
- 1:16:27that he would drop everything for.
- 1:16:31Things are about to get wild, folks.
- 1:16:33Enjoy the fun college football heading into the final couple of
- 1:16:37weeks of the season. Buckle up and make sure you're
- 1:16:40following at the pad of facts on all of your favorite outlets,
- 1:16:46Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, Dang, Instagram, Twitter,
- 1:16:51TikTok, YouTube, whatever it may be, make sure you're following.
- 1:16:55And I appreciate your sport support.
- 1:16:57Really doing good numbers right now and we can we we hope to
- 1:17:01continue it. So I appreciate it, really do.
- 1:17:04I'm William Patterson signing out.
