Emigrant’s Chest Returns To Clare After 127 Years
A remarkable piece of Clare history has finally come home, after 127 years in America. A chest belonging to Lissycasey native Denis Melican, who emigrated to the US in 1899, has been donated to Clare Museum by his grandchildren. Alan Morrissey was joined by Elizabeth Melican, Denis’s granddaughter, and John Rattigan, curator at Clare Museum, to hear the story behind this special family heirloom and its long journey back to Clare.
