- 1:24Speaker 5: the show is brought to you by Superior Air Repair.
- 1:26Speaker 5: Rusty Burson is here. Robert Cessna is here. I'm going
- 1:31Speaker 5: to say that the highlight of Saturday's game, were you there, Rusty?
- 1:35Speaker 6: Yes.
- 1:35Speaker 7: A little warm?
- 1:36Speaker 6: It was hot. Yeah. I was in the shade.
- 1:39Speaker 7: Okay, good enough.
- 1:40Speaker 5: The highlight of the game was the world's most interesting
- 1:44Speaker 5: man being at the game.
- 1:47Speaker 7: Selling Dos Equis.
- 1:48Speaker 6: The world's most perplexing man is the quarterback.
- 1:52Speaker 7: Whoa, that's a good one. What a good segue. There
- 1:55Speaker 7: you go. He's a wordsmith. He should be a author, man.
- 1:59Speaker 8: He makes his living writing.
- 2:00Speaker 7: Those books are at RustyBurson.com.
- 2:02Speaker 6: There you go.
- 2:04Speaker 7: Absolutely.
- 2:04Speaker 8: If you want stuff like that, it's gold.
- 2:08Speaker 6: Yeah, I saw that, and he was there pregame.
- 2:12Speaker 8: Yeah, handing out Dos Equis.
- 2:13Speaker 9: There were more snipers than I'd ever seen, literally, because
- 2:18Speaker 9: you had the head of war there. And, I mean,
- 2:22Speaker 9: literally the snipers were all the way around the field
- 2:26Speaker 9: with long guns.
- 2:28Speaker 6: I mean, it was wild.
- 2:30Speaker 7: Interesting.
- 2:30Speaker 6: Yeah. And they did not look like they were friendly folks.
- 2:35Speaker 6: They were looking up into the crowd.
- 2:37Speaker 7: I had the best view of the game Saturday.
- 2:40Speaker 6: At your couch?
- 2:42Speaker 5: Well, actually, it was a bed in the condo with
- 2:45Speaker 5: the floor-to-ceiling window overlooking the beach in.
- 2:48Speaker 7: The Atlantic Ocean.
- 2:49Speaker 6: Nice. Very nice.
- 2:50Speaker 7: And that was a pretty good way to watch the game.
- 2:52Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 2:53Speaker 7: It was air-conditioned. It was hot.
- 2:55Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:55Speaker 6: I mean, it was really hot. Even in the shade,
- 2:57Speaker 6: it was hot.
- 2:58Speaker 5: I don't know that we– did anybody see this coming? No. No.
- 3:03Speaker 7: I thought, I've obviously talked about it a lot in
- 3:06Speaker 7: the last 48 hours or whatever, I really thought maybe
- 3:11Speaker 7: Kentucky could come in and play well for a 10-12
- 3:14Speaker 7: minute segment and get A & M' s attention. Like Arizona State.
- 3:17Speaker 7: And get A & M' s attention even more because I
- 3:19Speaker 7: thought A & M would have it. SEC opener. This
- 3:22Speaker 7: team played well for half against Alabama. But then I thought,
- 3:26Speaker 7: If that happens, A & M' s going to snap out
- 3:28Speaker 7: of it, still win by double digits. No, I never
- 3:32Speaker 7: thought they'd win.
- 3:32Speaker 6: I was so disgusted by it that I left before
- 3:35Speaker 6: the third quarter ended.
- 3:36Speaker 9: After it got to be 28-7, they had no pulse,
- 3:40Speaker 9: no life. I hated the play calling. I hated everything
- 3:43Speaker 9: about that game. I'm so glad that actually somebody gave
- 3:46Speaker 9: me those tickets so I didn't spend any money on
- 3:48Speaker 9: those tickets.
- 3:49Speaker 6: It was just so frustrating.
- 3:51Speaker 9: I mean, Marcel looks like, you remember when Chuck Knobloch
- 3:54Speaker 9: had the yips and he couldn't throw from second base
- 3:56Speaker 9: to first?
- 3:57Speaker 6: That's what he looks like right now.
- 3:58Speaker 8: He is so inconsistent. So Elko described it as a
- 4:00Speaker 8: pitcher who couldn't find the strike zone.
- 4:02Speaker 9: Well, yeah, I heard him say that, but I think
- 4:03Speaker 9: he mislabeled that one because, I mean, most of the
- 4:06Speaker 9: time the pitcher, they may have problems finding the strike zone,
- 4:10Speaker 9: but they're not throwing half of the pitches in the dirt.
- 4:13Speaker 6: I mean, that's what we're seeing with him. He's obviously
- 4:16Speaker 6: thinking too much.
- 4:17Speaker 9: I mean, he has regressed so much from where he
- 4:22Speaker 9: was at the start.
- 4:23Speaker 7: Of last year.
- 4:24Speaker 6: The Notre Dame game seems like it was years and
- 4:27Speaker 6: years ago.
- 4:28Speaker 9: Would you just look at the last five games he's played?
- 4:32Speaker 6: The last five. Go back to the last two. Texas, yeah.
- 4:34Speaker 7: And Miami.
- 4:36Speaker 6: It's ugly.
- 4:37Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 4:38Speaker 6: Really ugly. I don't know where he gets his confidence back.
- 4:42Speaker 9: Now, the one thing you can't say is probably the
- 4:44Speaker 9: best two games he's played in his career against LSU.
- 4:47Speaker 7: Which is true. Which is true.
- 4:49Speaker 6: You have that hope, right?
- 4:51Speaker 7: I'll agree with you, Rusty. When I watched the third
- 4:54Speaker 7: quarter unfold, I was mesmerized that I thought it looked
- 4:59Speaker 7: like a high school team playing a freshman team. I
- 5:03Speaker 7: just couldn't believe that Kentucky just– whatever they dialed up
- 5:06Speaker 7: on offense was going to work, and A & M
- 5:08Speaker 7: could not– three touchdown drives.
- 5:10Speaker 6: Yeah, and that's what– I went back and watched it
- 5:12Speaker 6: last night painfully, but it's just the way Kentucky dominated
- 5:18Speaker 6: the offense– Both sides. Both sides. That's what was alarming.
- 5:23Speaker 7: Hey, not only just the light of scrimmage. I mean everything.
- 5:26Speaker 5: I mean they physically– dominated that team Saturday.
- 5:31Speaker 8: I didn't think that was possible. I thought they could lose.
- 5:33Speaker 5: I mean, not against Kentucky, but I mean, you know,
- 5:36Speaker 5: we expected them to lose a couple of three games.
- 5:38Speaker 8: I did not see that coming.
- 5:41Speaker 5: Like the physical domination, I did not see that coming.
- 5:46Speaker 9: My daughter's at A & M right now, and she's like,
- 5:49Speaker 9: earlier in the week, she goes like, hey, Dad, got
- 5:51Speaker 9: any ideas for some buttons?
- 5:53Speaker 6: And I was like, yeah. Who knew Kentucky had a
- 5:56Speaker 6: football team?
- 5:57Speaker 9: And just thinking of that, I really fully expected to
- 6:01Speaker 9: walk in there and see A & M win by 20.
- 6:04Speaker 6: I mean, going away, like you said.
- 6:06Speaker 7: I'm with you.
- 6:07Speaker 6: Like, okay, they're going to pull away. So 7-7 at
- 6:09Speaker 6: the half, and you go, well. Great adjustments at halftime.
- 6:13Speaker 9: Yeah, I said, you know, maybe they'll bust a chair
- 6:17Speaker 9: over somebody. Like, you know, do something, right? And then
- 6:21Speaker 9: to see the way Kentucky came out. And, you know,
- 6:25Speaker 9: I've heard a bunch of Aggies say, well, man, what
- 6:27Speaker 9: cost us is we didn't score those first two drives.
- 6:30Speaker 6: I was like, yeah, you could say that. But Kentucky
- 6:32Speaker 6: dropped a touchdown pass, missed a field goal.
- 6:34Speaker 7: True, true.
- 6:35Speaker 9: And that first kickoff, the opening kickoff, A & M
- 6:38Speaker 9: got fortunate that it wasn't a fumble.
- 6:41Speaker 8: I thought Kentucky dominated the first quarter.
- 6:43Speaker 6: Oh, I did. I did, too, for the most part.
- 6:46Speaker 8: A & M held their own in the second.
- 6:48Speaker 7: A & M at 121 yards, first three drives.
- 6:49Speaker 6: Well, they did.
- 6:50Speaker 7: You got a score.
- 6:51Speaker 6: They did.
- 6:51Speaker 7: You get 121 yards. They didn't score. Ten minutes, zero points.
- 6:54Speaker 6: You're right.
- 6:55Speaker 7: They didn't score.
- 6:57Speaker 5: I thought what Elko said after the game, and then
- 6:59Speaker 5: he expanded on it today, Cease. He said the team
- 7:03Speaker 5: was loose, meaning in terms we, and I'm quoting now,
- 7:07Speaker 5: we never got comfortable with what we were trying to do.
- 7:11Speaker 8: He's talking about defensively.
- 7:12Speaker 5: Honestly, I don't think we ever felt great. That showed
- 7:17Speaker 5: on Saturday. That was probably one of the worst defensive
- 7:19Speaker 5: performances I've had in my tenure. It wasn't because we
- 7:24Speaker 5: weren't trying. It was because we weren't able to hit it.
- 7:28Speaker 5: So we have to go back to.
- 7:29Speaker 7: The drawing board.
- 7:31Speaker 5: I find that really interesting. And he had said, you know,
- 7:34Speaker 5: they had some pretty good concepts. And this coming Saturday,
- 7:39Speaker 5: is it Charlie Weiss Jr. they're about to fix?
- 7:41Speaker 6: Along with Lane Kiffin.
- 7:42Speaker 8: And Lane Kiffin.
- 7:43Speaker 6: You better be ready for anything.
- 7:45Speaker 5: So they have to get that fixed. I was just,
- 7:48Speaker 5: that's very surprising to hear.
- 7:50Speaker 6: You know, in a 7-7 game, you get the ball
- 7:54Speaker 6: with 159 left. Because they took the touchdown.
- 7:58Speaker 9: Timeout right before the two-minute warning, and then they scored
- 8:00Speaker 9: on that first play. So it's 159, you got three timeouts.
- 8:04Speaker 9: And they run Reuben three times. And then they fail
- 8:08Speaker 9: to do anything down there.
- 8:09Speaker 6: And they have to punt.
- 8:11Speaker 9: But the play calling on that last drive, when you're
- 8:14Speaker 9: going in to try to take a lead at the half,
- 8:16Speaker 9: you want that momentum. And I'm like, okay, if A
- 8:19Speaker 9: & M can get a field goal here, they'll go
- 8:22Speaker 9: into the half with feeling good. But then the first
- 8:26Speaker 9: two plays of that drive where Reuben runs, and then
- 8:28Speaker 9: they didn't use the timeouts.
- 8:29Speaker 6: I'm like, who is coaching this team?
- 8:31Speaker 7: I don't understand. Well, go back to what he said
- 8:35Speaker 7: at the beginning of the year before the season started.
- 8:38Speaker 7: His coordinators would be judged by what happened on Saturday.
- 8:41Speaker 7: He said, I wouldn't have promoted these people if I
- 8:42Speaker 7: didn't think they could do the job. And both coordinators
- 8:46Speaker 7: lost big time against Kentucky's coordinators. When you've got a
- 8:49Speaker 7: 36-year-old– I was mesmerized by whatever Kentucky called on offense,
- 8:55Speaker 7: how much time Minchie had to throw, and then the
- 8:58Speaker 7: guy was open. I mean, it was just pitch and catch.
- 9:01Speaker 7: He only threw 18 passes, but he completed 14 of them.
- 9:04Speaker 7: And it was just.
- 9:06Speaker 6: And that freshman receiver just totally drops that touchdown.
- 9:09Speaker 7: I think he was just getting ready to think, how
- 9:11Speaker 7: am I going to celebrate this touchdown?
- 9:13Speaker 6: I mean, that ball is perfect. Yeah. And he dropped it.
- 9:16Speaker 10: All alone.
- 9:17Speaker 6: And that could come back to haunt you.
- 9:19Speaker 7: But no, he catches.
- 9:20Speaker 6: Two great catches. Yeah, he does. He came back and
- 9:22Speaker 6: he toned for it.
- 9:23Speaker 7: He goes, I'll be open again. And he was.
- 9:26Speaker 6: He's an impressive looking freshman.
- 9:28Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 9:28Speaker 7: Guys, we've been in the business a long time. And
- 9:30Speaker 7: I tell a lot of people, I'm sitting up doing
- 9:32Speaker 7: this for like five decades. And I just didn't see
- 9:34Speaker 7: that coming. And I was mesmerized. Like, okay, it's going
- 9:37Speaker 7: to change.
- 9:37Speaker 6: Okay. It's going to change.
- 9:38Speaker 7: Never changed. And they were, I think Kentucky almost circled
- 9:43Speaker 7: the wagons too soon, but they didn't. They just gave
- 9:46Speaker 7: A & M two touchdowns because it didn't matter. I mean,
- 9:48Speaker 7: they weren't trying to screw up.
- 9:50Speaker 6: So we as sports fans have a tendency to overreact.
- 9:53Speaker 7: Yeah, that's overreaction Monday.
- 9:56Speaker 9: But here's the issue, and I understand the battered Aggie.
- 10:00Speaker 6: Syndrome because we've seen it so often.
- 10:02Speaker 9: So the one thing we didn't want to see from
- 10:05Speaker 9: this team was a significant step backwards from where they were.
- 10:11Speaker 9: And right now, I have a hard time envisioning this
- 10:14Speaker 9: team being anything.
- 10:15Speaker 6: More than 8-4. I mean, maybe they can.
- 10:19Speaker 7: Anything can happen.
- 10:20Speaker 9: But that's a significant step back from the playoffs to 8-4.
- 10:25Speaker 8: Would it change your mind if they went to Baton
- 10:27Speaker 8: Rouge on one Saturday?
- 10:28Speaker 6: Yeah, it would change my mind.
- 10:29Speaker 9: But I don't expect it now because of the way
- 10:32Speaker 9: they played and the way Marcel seems.
- 10:34Speaker 6: To have so little confidence.
- 10:37Speaker 7: I don't.
- 10:37Speaker 9: Think that team has much confidence in him either i
- 10:41Speaker 9: don't i don't think that offense believes he's the same
- 10:45Speaker 9: guy who's.
- 10:46Speaker 6: Going to deliver him the football who's going to.
- 10:48Speaker 9: Make the right decisions make the right passes i wouldn't
- 10:52Speaker 9: have confidence in him if i was one of the
- 10:54Speaker 9: receivers because he's thrown so many at at the guys's
- 10:59Speaker 9: feet it's just to me it's.
- 11:01Speaker 6: Got to be wearing on some of those guys.
- 11:03Speaker 7: Well, you know, the baseball reference, what do we always say?
- 11:06Speaker 7: You're only as good as your starting pitcher the next night.
- 11:09Speaker 7: And I firmly believe the way college football is with
- 11:12Speaker 7: the transfer portals and whatever, it's like week to week.
- 11:16Speaker 7: Kentucky came here with 13 transfer portal guys starting. They
- 11:21Speaker 7: came in a hostile 105,000 people, new coach.
- 11:25Speaker 9: They're spending $ 23 million as opposed to $ 40- something million.
- 11:28Speaker 5: By the way, this coach may be pretty good because
- 11:31Speaker 5: when you look at how bad Oregon's offense has been
- 11:33Speaker 5: since he left.
- 11:34Speaker 7: I'm with you.
- 11:35Speaker 6: Good point.
- 11:35Speaker 7: I'm with you.
- 11:37Speaker 8: And how good that offense looked on Saturday. You're going, hey,
- 11:40Speaker 8: maybe this guy can coach.
- 11:41Speaker 6: He said we're going to be good because of me.
- 11:43Speaker 6: He did. You can see his team has confidence in him.
- 11:47Speaker 7: When you saw the replay of the touchdown with the
- 11:50Speaker 7: tight ends, he, like Colin Kline, likes to use two
- 11:53Speaker 7: and three tight ends. They had double tight ends. They
- 11:57Speaker 7: flopped to the right side. That play, he was open.
- 12:02Speaker 7: They have two tight ends on the left. So the
- 12:05Speaker 7: one fakes like he's blocking somebody. He goes out and
- 12:07Speaker 7: he's wide open. You go like, oh my gosh. I
- 12:11Speaker 7: know it was only like for seven yards.
- 12:12Speaker 5: Apparently they were in the same play against Alabama for
- 12:15Speaker 5: big yards.
- 12:16Speaker 7: But my point being is little things like that. And
- 12:19Speaker 7: Kentucky's doing that. And once again, there's so much tape
- 12:21Speaker 7: out there. And I'm glad I finally heard about why
- 12:25Speaker 7: Ole Miss went for two points.
- 12:27Speaker 3: Yeah, me too.
- 12:28Speaker 7: But my point being is it's a new guy's game.
- 12:30Speaker 6: Was there an injury to the kicker? I didn't hear that.
- 12:33Speaker 7: You've got to be constantly changing things.
- 12:35Speaker 6: Yes.
- 12:35Speaker 7: And if you don't keep up with it, you're going
- 12:37Speaker 7: to get your clock clean.
- 12:38Speaker 5: Golding's explanation was, while I'm thinking about it, he just
- 12:41Speaker 5: said we worked on it all week. He said the
- 12:45Speaker 5: other team is putting in the extra point block unit.
- 12:49Speaker 5: He said if you run people to the line of
- 12:51Speaker 5: scrimmage– You may catch him having 12 on the field.
- 12:54Speaker 8: You may catch him with a snap. He said, we
- 12:56Speaker 8: worked on it.
- 12:57Speaker 7: Take a timeout.
- 12:57Speaker 8: Take a timeout. Cost him a timeout.
- 13:00Speaker 6: All of this stuff happened. And they jumped twice.
- 13:02Speaker 7: And they jumped twice.
- 13:04Speaker 8: And he said, at that point, he said, when it
- 13:07Speaker 8: gets to.
- 13:07Speaker 5: A yard and a half or less than a yard
- 13:09Speaker 5: and a half, he said, twice penalized him, he said,
- 13:12Speaker 5: we're going to go because I don't want them coming
- 13:15Speaker 5: back and winning the game is how he put it.
- 13:18Speaker 5: He didn't say, what if we don't get it? He
- 13:20Speaker 5: never said that. He just said, the worst that we
- 13:23Speaker 5: could do is tie and go to overtime. After we've
- 13:26Speaker 5: worked that hard, we felt confident. We worked on it
- 13:29Speaker 5: all week. And so it wasn't, after listening to him,
- 13:33Speaker 5: it wasn't one of those things spur of the moment,
- 13:37Speaker 5: just wild decisions that we see coaches make all the time.
- 13:41Speaker 8: It had been thought through.
- 13:43Speaker 9: So I went back and I watched the game and
- 13:46Speaker 9: the announcers were shocked. that A & M actually snapped
- 13:49Speaker 9: the ball on that fourth down at their own 33.
- 13:51Speaker 6: Correct.
- 13:52Speaker 8: They were shocked.
- 13:54Speaker 9: They thought, okay, they're probably going to try to draw
- 13:56Speaker 9: these guys off.
- 13:58Speaker 6: And then when they took the snap, they're like, oh,
- 14:01Speaker 6: my gosh.
- 14:02Speaker 8: It's like, they're going for it.
- 14:04Speaker 7: It's wide open.
- 14:04Speaker 6: It was wide open. You're exactly right. All you've got
- 14:07Speaker 6: to do is lob that thing.
- 14:09Speaker 7: Yeah, it's wide open.
- 14:10Speaker 6: My wife says she could make that throw. I believe her.
- 14:14Speaker 7: But I think that A & M was a little panicky,
- 14:16Speaker 7: and they went back to, oh, they picked up the
- 14:18Speaker 7: fourth down against South Carolina last year in the second half,
- 14:21Speaker 7: and we can do it here. Didn't happen. And you
- 14:24Speaker 7: look at, you're right, you didn't hit the guy on
- 14:27Speaker 7: the little out pass, you know, the back. Fourth down.
- 14:29Speaker 9: They were further behind in that situation, though.
- 14:33Speaker 6: But they had more time. So, yeah, I mean, it
- 14:37Speaker 6: was 21-7. And then when you don't get it, it's just,
- 14:41Speaker 6: I mean, you still got a full quarter. It's, it's,
- 14:43Speaker 6: there's two scores down. I just thought, man, that's, that's panicking.
- 14:47Speaker 8: I think it's a pressure to make, yeah, to make
- 14:49Speaker 8: something happen.
- 14:50Speaker 7: I think they're panicking.
- 14:51Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 14:52Speaker 7: Cause you know, they didn't think they could lose that
- 14:53Speaker 7: game probably.
- 14:54Speaker 6: No, you're probably right. And they probably rolled out there
- 14:57Speaker 6: a lot overconfident.
- 14:58Speaker 7: And they probably said, this team is better than that
- 15:00Speaker 7: South Carolina team last year.
- 15:01Speaker 3: There's no doubt.
- 15:03Speaker 5: They were, they were impressive. You know, I know A
- 15:06Speaker 5: & M helped them. They obviously helped them, but, but,
- 15:09Speaker 5: They were impressive how they came into that environment and
- 15:13Speaker 5: just beat the crap out of A & M.
- 15:16Speaker 9: Especially when they ran the ball in the second half.
- 15:18Speaker 8: They did everything. They beat them up.
- 15:21Speaker 5: As you mentioned earlier, they dominated the lines of scrimmage.
- 15:25Speaker 5: They were hitting like crazy all over the field. They
- 15:29Speaker 5: were just– that was an impressive football team.
- 15:30Speaker 6: They kind of set the tone on the opening kickoff.
- 15:32Speaker 8: They set the tone.
- 15:33Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 15:34Speaker 7: Here's the deal is, it's like– and we cover– I
- 15:38Speaker 7: cover A & M, and you always know that weakness
- 15:40Speaker 7: is strong points, and it's easy to dump on them.
- 15:42Speaker 7: But I want to emphasize, I was totally impressed with Kentucky, too.
- 15:45Speaker 7: Because if they play three or four more games like that,
- 15:48Speaker 7: they'll win three or four more conference games. I mean,
- 15:50Speaker 7: they just played way too good.
- 15:52Speaker 5: The problem with that is they ain't sneaking up on
- 15:54Speaker 5: anybody right now.
- 15:55Speaker 11: Correct.
- 15:56Speaker 5: Because they were even with Alabama into the third quarter, right,
- 16:02Speaker 5: and played them.
- 16:04Speaker 8: And we know Alabama's not. Alabama like they.
- 16:07Speaker 7: Used to be.
- 16:08Speaker 5: But they're still pretty dang good. They hung a 50-burger
- 16:13Speaker 5: on Saturday. So they can still play. And I like
- 16:16Speaker 5: that young quarterback, by the way. I think he's going
- 16:19Speaker 5: to be special.
- 16:20Speaker 6: I do too. Menchie is really good. I like him.
- 16:23Speaker 5: And Menchie's good. I was talking about the Alabama quarterback.
- 16:26Speaker 5: I didn't think Menchie was worth a darn for a
- 16:28Speaker 5: part of the first quarter, and I'm going, this guy's slow.
- 16:31Speaker 5: He can't run, first of all, which is unusual in
- 16:34Speaker 5: this day and age to see a quarterback that can't run,
- 16:36Speaker 5: and he can't run.
- 16:38Speaker 6: But you know what?
- 16:39Speaker 7: He didn't have to. He reminded me of the old
- 16:41Speaker 7: San Diego quarterback.
- 16:44Speaker 6: Dan Fouts? No.
- 16:46Speaker 7: That's not a bad one, but the other one that
- 16:49Speaker 7: had like 85 kids, and he came back out of
- 16:52Speaker 7: retirement for Indianapolis last year. I mean, he doesn't run.
- 16:55Speaker 7: He just sits back there.
- 16:56Speaker 6: Oh, yeah, I know who you're talking about.
- 16:57Speaker 7: He reminded me. I go, this guy can't move. You
- 17:00Speaker 7: can't have a quarterback these days and not move and
- 17:02Speaker 7: not win. It's hard. You can with only 18 passes.
- 17:04Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah.
- 17:05Speaker 7: They scored that many points, 31 points.
- 17:08Speaker 6: Unbelievable. Yeah, it was just, again, that was a total,
- 17:13Speaker 6: total team domination. And they controlled both sides of the ball.
- 17:18Speaker 6: And they just out-everythinged A & M. They out-coached them
- 17:20Speaker 6: and everything. So, yeah.
- 17:22Speaker 5: You have a situation now. You've created a situation right now.
- 17:26Speaker 5: This team had some hopes and dreams after being in
- 17:29Speaker 5: the playoffs last year. You're going to Baton Rouge and
- 17:32Speaker 5: you know two losses. You're done. You ain't played for
- 17:35Speaker 5: the conference championship for sure. This is a circle the
- 17:40Speaker 5: wagons kind of game. For both teams. For both teams.
- 17:46Speaker 5: It is circle the wagons. I would argue less for
- 17:50Speaker 5: Lane Kiffin I know what they expect.
- 17:52Speaker 7: I get that. But it's his first year, right?
- 17:56Speaker 5: And they don't want A & M again coming in
- 17:58Speaker 5: and embarrassing them like they embarrassed them last year.
- 18:01Speaker 7: Last year, yeah.
- 18:02Speaker 8: Now, there's probably not too many players left from that team.
- 18:05Speaker 7: There are a few. Not the coach.
- 18:07Speaker 5: The fans understand it, right? But it is a circle
- 18:11Speaker 5: the wagons moment.
- 18:13Speaker 7: And it's going to be very interesting to see.
- 18:16Speaker 5: Because you know what LSU put into that game going
- 18:20Speaker 5: to Oxford, right? You know physically, mentally, emotionally, they've got
- 18:25Speaker 5: to be wiped out. Which, Cease, I think may be
- 18:28Speaker 5: one of the reasons why Ole Miss is a three-point
- 18:31Speaker 5: underdog going to Florida Saturday.
- 18:34Speaker 7: It's tough to play back-to-back games like that. Oh, my gosh,
- 18:36Speaker 7: is it tough. Because you touched on it. There was
- 18:38Speaker 7: so much emotion in that Ole Miss-LSU game.
- 18:41Speaker 5: That was way on the scale of way up there.
- 18:45Speaker 6: You know, but the cool thing about that is it
- 18:48Speaker 6: lived up to the hype. Yes, it did. It was
- 18:49Speaker 6: a very entertaining game.
- 18:50Speaker 7: And it doesn't happen very often.
- 18:51Speaker 6: No, and when you thought it was 17 down, you know,
- 18:53Speaker 6: it was like, oh, well.
- 18:53Speaker 5: And you're going, what is going on around here?
- 18:55Speaker 7: Right, right.
- 18:56Speaker 6: And then here comes Lane. I mean, they stormed back. Yep.
- 19:01Speaker 6: Just the chippiness of the crowd.
- 19:03Speaker 7: Oh, everything about it.
- 19:04Speaker 6: Yeah, the chants.
- 19:05Speaker 8: It was awesome.
- 19:06Speaker 6: They were chanting something that was not very nice.
- 19:08Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, you can't put that on your letterhead.
- 19:12Speaker 6: No, you can't.
- 19:13Speaker 7: And what we can't get into is understand teams' emotions
- 19:18Speaker 7: or whatever. I think... LSU might take a breath because
- 19:22Speaker 7: they're over that and they said they're going back home.
- 19:24Speaker 7: You could be right, Cease. But I don't know if
- 19:26Speaker 7: they will do that.
- 19:27Speaker 6: They could.
- 19:27Speaker 5: It wouldn't surprise me if they were flat. You know,
- 19:31Speaker 5: Sam Lovett is a problem because as.
- 19:34Speaker 6: He's physical. He's willing to throw himself around. That's for sure.
- 19:39Speaker 5: I tell you, I know this is sacrilegious, but when
- 19:42Speaker 5: I'm watching him, he reminds me a little bit of
- 19:45Speaker 5: Johnny Football.
- 19:47Speaker 8: In how he plays.
- 19:48Speaker 5: Right. Right?
- 19:49Speaker 8: How he runs the ball.
- 19:50Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 19:51Speaker 7: How he competes.
- 19:52Speaker 6: Reckless.
- 19:52Speaker 8: Reckless.
- 19:53Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 19:54Speaker 8: Totally reckless. Now, that also includes throwing the football.
- 19:57Speaker 1: Right.
- 19:57Speaker 5: Right? Because he can get some bad plays. But, you know,
- 20:02Speaker 5: we saw him two years ago.
- 20:03Speaker 6: He almost beat.
- 20:03Speaker 7: Texas in the quarterfinals.
- 20:06Speaker 3: Right?
- 20:06Speaker 6: Right.
- 20:07Speaker 7: They came within.
- 20:08Speaker 5: Really close to beating now he had a pretty good
- 20:10Speaker 5: running back he was with but but that kid is
- 20:13Speaker 5: a competitor and you you better account for him on
- 20:17Speaker 5: every single play or he's gonna.
- 20:19Speaker 9: Beat you yeah it's like you said it's circle of
- 20:23Speaker 9: wagons but i don't have i don't have much confidence and.
- 20:26Speaker 5: Do they that's my question what what kind of confidence
- 20:30Speaker 5: will the team go into baton rouge with.
- 20:32Speaker 6: Yeah I mean, and they're going to have to prove
- 20:34Speaker 6: it on both sides of the ball.
- 20:35Speaker 8: They swaggered in last year, and I know this ain't
- 20:37Speaker 8: last year.
- 20:38Speaker 5: No.
- 20:38Speaker 7: It's different, way different.
- 20:40Speaker 6: You know, by the way, Bussey being out for the
- 20:42Speaker 6: year is a blow. That's a hard blow.
- 20:42Speaker 7: Oh, it's a hard blow. Because you know what?
- 20:45Speaker 8: Not only on the field.
- 20:47Speaker 5: But he's one of those off-the-field guys that you need
- 20:49Speaker 5: in your locker room.
- 20:50Speaker 6: Yeah, everybody raved about what kind of camp he had. Exactly.
- 20:54Speaker 7: He was poised for a really good year. He was.
- 20:58Speaker 5: And everyone around him is so disappointed that this happened
- 21:02Speaker 5: to him.
- 21:03Speaker 8: Because he worked his tail off in the offseason.
- 21:05Speaker 6: You know, I heard the question, whoever asked, I guess
- 21:09Speaker 6: they asked Marcel right after the game about what he
- 21:11Speaker 6: went over and said to Busty. He went over and said,
- 21:14Speaker 6: I love you. I wonder how much of an impact
- 21:18Speaker 6: that had on his teammates. Right. I wondered that too, Rusty. Yeah.
- 21:25Speaker 8: Because that's a first play of the game.
- 21:26Speaker 6: First play of the game, yeah. And it.
- 21:29Speaker 5: You know, I don't know what it would have been like,
- 21:31Speaker 5: but it was obviously the air was out of the
- 21:34Speaker 5: balloon for the whole game, right? Right.
- 21:36Speaker 8: And I did wonder that.
- 21:38Speaker 5: Did that injury and watching him be taken off the
- 21:41Speaker 5: field just– and that question wasn't asked.
- 21:45Speaker 8: I don't believe that's been asked.
- 21:46Speaker 6: I'm not making excuses, but I do know. It's a
- 21:50Speaker 6: good question.
- 21:50Speaker 7: I thought of that. It's a good question.
- 21:52Speaker 8: Because it looked like the air went out of the balloon.
- 21:54Speaker 9: Because I think he– based on what I heard– All
- 21:57Speaker 9: of his teammates really respected him.
- 22:00Speaker 7: That's what I'm saying. Small-time kid, good kid, everything like that.
- 22:07Speaker 5: I don't know before the game, I talked about C.J. Baxter,
- 22:11Speaker 5: the running back, who obviously loves to run against A
- 22:13Speaker 5: & M.
- 22:15Speaker 6: There's always holes.
- 22:17Speaker 5: But he's a shell of what he was when he
- 22:21Speaker 5: was recruited because of the injuries he's had. But he
- 22:25Speaker 5: was one of The guys in the locker room. And
- 22:28Speaker 5: I thought about that when Texas traded him, basically.
- 22:32Speaker 7: Said, hey, we're going to upgrade.
- 22:34Speaker 5: Right. Right. And you go, okay, you can upgrade on
- 22:38Speaker 5: the field. And we see this with baseball trades all
- 22:41Speaker 5: the time, Rusty. You've got to have those guys in
- 22:45Speaker 5: the locker room. And when you get rid of one
- 22:47Speaker 5: of those guys, you don't know what effect that's going
- 22:51Speaker 5: to have on a team.
- 22:52Speaker 6: Chemistry-wise.
- 22:52Speaker 11: Yes.
- 22:53Speaker 5: Because there's only a handful of them, right, that all
- 22:56Speaker 5: the players love.
- 22:57Speaker 8: And look up to.
- 22:58Speaker 5: Right?
- 22:58Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 22:59Speaker 8: One of those high-character people, and you go, well, we upgraded.
- 23:04Speaker 8: I go, well, did you?
- 23:05Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 23:05Speaker 7: I mean, seriously.
- 23:06Speaker 6: No, I agree.
- 23:07Speaker 7: You upgraded on the field, but did you upgrade?
- 23:09Speaker 5: Right. Right? And I think that's a valid question to
- 23:14Speaker 5: ask about A & M last Saturday when Bussey went
- 23:16Speaker 5: down on the first play.
- 23:17Speaker 3: Of the game.
- 23:18Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, because he was carted off there. It
- 23:20Speaker 6: was pretty obvious to most of those guys. He was done.
- 23:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:23Speaker 7: One of my brain cells kicked in. Phillip Rivers. I
- 23:26Speaker 7: thought his physique was a little bit like Phillip Rivers.
- 23:29Speaker 7: He's not going to run. That's been a while. Yeah,
- 23:31Speaker 7: it's been a while.
- 23:32Speaker 6: Not as long as Dan Fouts. I went way on back, yeah.
- 23:37Speaker 7: At least we didn't say John Hadle.
- 23:38Speaker 6: That could be.
- 23:39Speaker 7: Another one, too.
- 23:41Speaker 3: That's true.
- 23:43Speaker 6: Going way back. People have no idea who we're talking about.
- 23:45Speaker 8: To Lance Allworth.
- 23:46Speaker 6: George Blanda. Going to go back to the Raiders.
- 23:50Speaker 8: Is he still playing? I think we need a break.
- 23:56Speaker 8: I think we have to regroup.
- 23:58Speaker 6: This is the old guy show.
- 23:59Speaker 7: This is the old guy show.
- 24:03Speaker 5: You're not going to get John Hadle and George Bland
- 24:05Speaker 5: anywhere else. You're just not going to get that. On
- 24:09Speaker 5: the same day you got Billy the Kid earlier.
- 24:13Speaker 6: Okay. Wow.

- 28:44Speaker 8: It is the Writer's Roundtable for Monday.
- 28:46Speaker 5: It's brought to you by Intech and First Financial Bank.
- 28:50Speaker 5: Robert Sesson is here. Rusty Burson is here. It is
- 28:53Speaker 5: Overreaction Monday. And we love Overreaction Monday on college football.
- 28:58Speaker 8: That's what it's about. So I said this off mic.
- 29:05Speaker 8: We always have our best discussions off mic, unfortunately.
- 29:09Speaker 5: But I would be really surprised if A & M
- 29:13Speaker 5: didn't go into Baton Rouge and play really hard and
- 29:16Speaker 5: really well Saturday night.
- 29:19Speaker 7: I'm with you 100% because that's typically been the MO.
- 29:23Speaker 7: You look at Elko's, such a tough competitor. His team
- 29:27Speaker 7: reflects him. Talked about the leaders, Ratcliffe, what have you.
- 29:30Speaker 7: Maybe they did get shook up a little bit by
- 29:33Speaker 7: losing Baton Rouge. Busy, but then they'll have a week
- 29:36Speaker 7: to adjust. Apparently, they'll get their linebacker back this season.
- 29:40Speaker 7: the way Elko was talking. Sanford played a little bit.
- 29:42Speaker 7: A little bit, yeah. And once again, all teams are
- 29:47Speaker 7: looking for a little window. The good news is they
- 29:49Speaker 7: got kicked off the horse pretty bad, but you can
- 29:51Speaker 7: get back on it if you have a good game
- 29:53Speaker 7: at LSU. That would change a.
- 29:56Speaker 6: Lot of things. I like how it came back to
- 29:57Speaker 6: Randy Travis' song, but I would have played Digging Up
- 30:00Speaker 6: Bones since that's what we're doing right now. He's on
- 30:04Speaker 6: a roll.
- 30:05Speaker 7: He's on a roll.
- 30:07Speaker 3: You know what?
- 30:07Speaker 6: They've got to go to LSU and play better. I'd
- 30:11Speaker 6: be shocked. I'd be absolutely shocked if A & M
- 30:14Speaker 6: won the game. Now, I was shocked last week. So,
- 30:18Speaker 6: I mean, not to say it can't happen.
- 30:20Speaker 8: It's college football, man.
- 30:21Speaker 6: I was shocked walking out of that stadium.
- 30:22Speaker 9: And I was shocked because I left before third quarter,
- 30:26Speaker 9: and there was a lot of people with me.
- 30:27Speaker 5: Oh, there were.
- 30:28Speaker 8: Well, it was hot, too.
- 30:29Speaker 6: It was hot.
- 30:30Speaker 5: Not only did you get beat badly, but it's hot.
- 30:32Speaker 6: And then you're not doing anything. Like, that third quarter
- 30:34Speaker 6: was just disastrous.
- 30:36Speaker 8: It was a disaster.
- 30:37Speaker 6: And then you just.
- 30:39Speaker 9: Just punched you in the gut, and you just didn't
- 30:42Speaker 9: answer until it was too late.
- 30:43Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 30:44Speaker 7: But I guarantee you, LSU knows you've got to put
- 30:47Speaker 7: a lot of pressure on Reed. He's hurt them the
- 30:49Speaker 7: last two times. So the number one matchup, Reed against
- 30:52Speaker 7: that defense, is going to be accented all week in practice.
- 30:56Speaker 6: So it'll be interesting to see what LSU does. So
- 30:57Speaker 6: what's the status of the running backs now? Because to me,
- 31:01Speaker 6: Owens just is not a home run threat. I mean,
- 31:03Speaker 6: he runs hard. He's just not a home run threat.
- 31:07Speaker 7: I really like the freshman.
- 31:09Speaker 6: I do too.
- 31:09Speaker 7: He runs hard. He runs hard, and he just doesn't
- 31:12Speaker 7: get stopped.
- 31:12Speaker 6: He's got another burst.
- 31:14Speaker 7: And for whatever reason, like, oh, it's your fourth and one,
- 31:17Speaker 7: and you lose two feet. And you've not lost a
- 31:20Speaker 7: yard on any play. 14 plays, 13 plays. You get
- 31:24Speaker 7: down to your 14th play. That was a real downer.
- 31:27Speaker 11: Yep.
- 31:28Speaker 7: And, you know, we always talk about baseball. Like, oh,
- 31:30Speaker 7: your base is loaded in the first inning. It's going
- 31:32Speaker 7: to come back to haunt your runners in scoring position.
- 31:35Speaker 7: I don't think in these close games we look at
- 31:37Speaker 7: this enough on football. A & M, if they scored,
- 31:40Speaker 7: you know, they almost lost the ball in the kickoff.
- 31:42Speaker 7: If they went down and scored and took a 7-0 lead,
- 31:44Speaker 7: who knows? And they marched the whole way down there.
- 31:48Speaker 7: But I didn't like the call where he lined the
- 31:50Speaker 7: guy up 85 yards behind the quarterback. Right. I had
- 31:54Speaker 7: esteem to fall down two feet short.
- 31:56Speaker 9: I did not mind them going for the fourth down
- 32:01Speaker 9: early in the game like that. But then after you
- 32:05Speaker 9: fail to make the fourth down, I think you need
- 32:08Speaker 9: to like, okay, let's play a little bit more conservatively.
- 32:11Speaker 6: Let's do the right things.
- 32:12Speaker 9: And then Marcel, that interception, it was just like he
- 32:14Speaker 9: never saw the guy. I mean, it was just a
- 32:17Speaker 9: bad pass. That guy read that perfectly, just like a book.
- 32:20Speaker 5: Perfectly.
- 32:21Speaker 6: And he made a nice play on it.
- 32:23Speaker 7: He knew he was going to throw it there.
- 32:24Speaker 6: He was there. Yeah.
- 32:25Speaker 7: But once again, I've got it. You should have enough
- 32:29Speaker 7: faith in your running back to get a half yard.
- 32:31Speaker 7: But you also have a mobile quarterback. Get them out
- 32:34Speaker 7: where you have an option. But once again, you've got
- 32:36Speaker 7: to make the play.
- 32:37Speaker 9: Well, I don't think he's– they're running the RPO. And
- 32:41Speaker 9: I don't think he's really doing that anymore. I don't
- 32:43Speaker 9: think he's reading.
- 32:44Speaker 7: Doesn't seem to be.
- 32:45Speaker 6: Like, you remember how.
- 32:46Speaker 9: Good he was two years ago– When he took over
- 32:50Speaker 9: at LSU, the thing he did so good was that
- 32:53Speaker 9: run pass option. And he would stick it in a
- 32:55Speaker 9: guy's gut and pull it at the last minute and keep.
- 32:59Speaker 9: And he doesn't seem to want to keep the ball anymore.
- 33:03Speaker 6: On the RPO. I'm with you. So, I don't know.
- 33:06Speaker 6: I'd like to see him, you know, I mean, obviously.
- 33:10Speaker 7: I think they're going to tweak it. It'll be interesting
- 33:11Speaker 7: to see what they tweak. They've got to do something.
- 33:14Speaker 7: Because the offensive line, is it iffy or not? I
- 33:16Speaker 7: don't know. You can't pick up a yard on fourth
- 33:18Speaker 7: and one. You've got to change something.
- 33:20Speaker 6: You know, I watched that. You mentioned the Cowboys and
- 33:24Speaker 6: the Redskins yesterday. And Jaden Daniels, before he got hurt,
- 33:27Speaker 6: he was killing the Cowboys. Oh, yeah. I mean, he
- 33:29Speaker 6: was just killing them with his legs. And I'm not
- 33:31Speaker 6: saying Marcel can beat Jaden Daniels, but I mean.
- 33:35Speaker 8: I mean, he runs well enough to.
- 33:37Speaker 6: He runs well enough that he can change the game.
- 33:39Speaker 7: Yes, no doubt.
- 33:40Speaker 6: But I don't feel like he's doing that enough. Yeah.
- 33:43Speaker 6: And I think he needs to do it more. From
- 33:45Speaker 6: what Elko said, he's not going to do it more.
- 33:47Speaker 7: Well, and, you know, to.
- 33:51Speaker 5: Me it's kind of a delicate balance because, as he mentioned,
- 33:55Speaker 5: he ain't 230 pounds.
- 33:56Speaker 6: You're right.
- 33:57Speaker 8: You know, he's a buck 85.
- 33:59Speaker 6: He ain't Lenore Sellers.
- 34:00Speaker 7: He is not.
- 34:01Speaker 5: You know, I mean, he's just he's not the Camario
- 34:06Speaker 5: guy from Mississippi State who's 240. You know, he's just
- 34:09Speaker 5: not that. So to me, you have to balance that.
- 34:15Speaker 5: You know how much you're going to run because, man,
- 34:19Speaker 5: you're going to get hit.
- 34:20Speaker 9: Yeah, I mean, and obviously we've seen it in the NFL.
- 34:23Speaker 9: I mean, RG3 got hurt right away.
- 34:26Speaker 6: He did. Jaden Daniels, this is the second time he's
- 34:28Speaker 6: already gotten hurt running the football. So, I mean, it's
- 34:32Speaker 6: a wear and tear. It is. But it's one of
- 34:34Speaker 6: your best weapons.
- 34:35Speaker 7: No doubt.
- 34:36Speaker 6: And I'd like to see him more on the run
- 34:38Speaker 6: more often.
- 34:39Speaker 5: I'm with you with Edwards and Baker at running back.
- 34:43Speaker 5: You know, both of them have looked, you know, we've
- 34:47Speaker 5: seen the potential there. Mm-hmm.
- 34:49Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 34:51Speaker 7: The burst that's there, right?
- 34:53Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 34:53Speaker 7: You touched on, you get him outside the pocket, and
- 34:56Speaker 7: you've got a first-round receiver out there that they've got
- 35:01Speaker 7: to contend with. You've got all the pieces. They have
- 35:04Speaker 7: an overabundance of tight ends that can catch the ball.
- 35:08Speaker 8: They're going to have to use them now with the
- 35:10Speaker 8: injuries that we've seen.
- 35:11Speaker 6: I would think so.
- 35:12Speaker 5: You've got a lot of options. I liked getting Craver involved.
- 35:19Speaker 5: I like that he had 11 catches.
- 35:22Speaker 6: 19 targets?
- 35:24Speaker 5: 19 targets. I know it's a lot, but hey, right now,
- 35:29Speaker 5: him and Horton are your guys, right? I mean, those
- 35:32Speaker 5: are the guys. So one of those, and Horton apparently
- 35:35Speaker 5: had nine targets.
- 35:36Speaker 7: So 28 targets, and I.
- 35:42Speaker 5: Out of 49, so 28 of 49 attempts, and there
- 35:47Speaker 5: were a lot of attempts, obviously, in the fourth quarter
- 35:49Speaker 5: when you're behind, but 28 of 49, that's.
- 35:52Speaker 6: So did somebody ask him about Ashton Bethel-Roman?
- 35:55Speaker 7: They asked about all the injuries. He said they won't know. Yeah,
- 35:58Speaker 7: it said later in the week when they put up
- 35:59Speaker 7: the deal.
- 35:59Speaker 6: Did that say he's critical to get back now that
- 36:02Speaker 6: you've lost Buster?
- 36:03Speaker 8: He is, and he was playing so well.
- 36:05Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 36:05Speaker 5: Right?
- 36:05Speaker 7: He ended the season well. He started the season well.
- 36:08Speaker 6: That.
- 36:09Speaker 8: That hurts.
- 36:09Speaker 6: But unfortunately.
- 36:10Speaker 7: I mean, losing those.
- 36:11Speaker 8: Two guys, let's be honest.
- 36:13Speaker 6: That hurts.
- 36:14Speaker 7: Bethel Roman has been hurt almost every year.
- 36:15Speaker 6: A little bit.
- 36:16Speaker 7: Some guys have those injuries, unfortunately.
- 36:18Speaker 5: I know.
- 36:19Speaker 7: They just seem to follow. That doesn't help.
- 36:21Speaker 6: Yeah. And the Morrow kid, too. I mean, he must
- 36:23Speaker 6: be banged up, too. Same thing. Yeah. And he mentioned him, too.
- 36:28Speaker 16: Yeah.
- 36:28Speaker 5: Right.
- 36:28Speaker 7: So, yes, he is a weapon.
- 36:31Speaker 8: They have weapons, but they have to be healthy.
- 36:34Speaker 5: I mean, it doesn't help them sitting on the bench.
- 36:36Speaker 6: So.
- 36:38Speaker 5: I think this team still has the talent. I think
- 36:41Speaker 5: they have the defensive talent. And I just I just
- 36:44Speaker 5: I want to go back to how interesting I was
- 36:48Speaker 5: with Elko's comments that we just never quite got it
- 36:52Speaker 5: in practice leading up to the game.
- 36:55Speaker 8: And, you know, that's an honest admission. It's also a
- 36:59Speaker 8: troubling admission, right?
- 37:01Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 37:01Speaker 5: That they couldn't figure out what they were about to see.
- 37:05Speaker 5: And it was obvious, wasn't it?
- 37:06Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 37:08Speaker 8: They never figured out what they were looking at.
- 37:10Speaker 1: No.
- 37:10Speaker 7: Here's the deal. That's from the mouth of one of
- 37:13Speaker 7: the best defensive coordinators of his time. Who admitted, this
- 37:16Speaker 7: is one of my worst games ever. Yeah, and that's
- 37:18Speaker 7: not good.
- 37:20Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, he's an upstanding guy. I mean, he
- 37:24Speaker 6: takes the blame.
- 37:25Speaker 8: I love that.
- 37:26Speaker 6: I do, too. But it is alarming that they weren't
- 37:29Speaker 6: ready for that game. You know what I mean? That's alarming.
- 37:32Speaker 8: But, again, were they or were they not ready?
- 37:36Speaker 5: You know, when you look at 7-7 at the halftime,
- 37:40Speaker 5: you can say, well, they should have.
- 37:41Speaker 8: And, see, you mentioned it. ran up and down the field,
- 37:44Speaker 8: had nothing to show for it.
- 37:46Speaker 5: So they're moving the ball early, right?
- 37:49Speaker 8: They're tied at the half.
- 37:51Speaker 6: But Kentucky's feeling really good. Oh, they have to be.
- 37:54Speaker 6: You're darn right. Listen, we missed the field goal, we
- 37:57Speaker 6: dropped touchdown pass, and we're tied.
- 38:00Speaker 7: Oh, there's no doubt about that.
- 38:01Speaker 5: We're the number nine team in the country in their place.
- 38:03Speaker 7: And we get the ball to start. Hey, I'm not
- 38:05Speaker 7: offering any excuses. I'm explaining, but I'm not offering any excuses.
- 38:09Speaker 7: There aren't any excuses.
- 38:11Speaker 8: You cannot, if.
- 38:11Speaker 5: You have designs on going to the college football playoff,
- 38:14Speaker 5: you cannot lose to Kentucky at home ever.
- 38:18Speaker 9: And it reminds me of, unfortunately, it reminds me of
- 38:22Speaker 9: all the times that Jimbo and someone and all these
- 38:25Speaker 9: guys lost to Mississippi State or at home.
- 38:28Speaker 8: Or back in those days, Ole Miss, same thing.
- 38:31Speaker 6: Before Ole Miss got really good. And so those are
- 38:34Speaker 6: the games you can't lose.
- 38:37Speaker 3: Right.
- 38:37Speaker 9: And it's more important now in this era of the
- 38:40Speaker 9: college football playoff because once you're out of the playoff,
- 38:43Speaker 9: no one cares anymore.
- 38:45Speaker 3: True.
- 38:45Speaker 6: They don't care about a bowl game.
- 38:47Speaker 3: You lose four games.
- 38:49Speaker 11: Yes.
- 38:49Speaker 6: I don't care anymore. Yes. Move on to Buckyball.
- 38:52Speaker 8: And I don't like that either. I want people caring so.
- 38:56Speaker 7: They're listening to us.
- 38:57Speaker 6: But that's the reality.
- 38:57Speaker 8: No, no, you're right.
- 38:58Speaker 6: It's made pro sports. If you're not in the playoffs.
- 39:01Speaker 6: You're right.
- 39:02Speaker 7: You've lost.
- 39:03Speaker 6: You've lost. Your fan base doesn't care anymore.
- 39:05Speaker 7: Yeah, that's correct. And that's why they'll go.
- 39:07Speaker 6: Why am I still interested in the Rangers? Because they
- 39:08Speaker 6: can make the playoffs.
- 39:10Speaker 8: Yeah, even though they're terrible.
- 39:11Speaker 6: Exactly.
- 39:12Speaker 7: And that's why they'll go to 16-team playoff, maybe even 24.
- 39:15Speaker 7: Because college football, you've got to be alive for people
- 39:18Speaker 7: to turn the TV on, to pay the exorbitant money,
- 39:21Speaker 7: to pay all the NIL money, the collectives. I don't
- 39:25Speaker 7: want to go to the Houston Bowl. If A &
- 39:26Speaker 7: M loses this week, for example, a lot of people
- 39:29Speaker 7: are going to.
- 39:29Speaker 8: How about the Liberty?
- 39:30Speaker 6: About the Liberty Bowl? No, I do not.
- 39:31Speaker 8: Okay, I just thought I'd throw that in. A lot
- 39:33Speaker 8: of people are going to jump off the board.
- 39:34Speaker 6: Not the Street War Bowl either.
- 39:36Speaker 7: It's the way it is.
- 39:37Speaker 8: No Weed Eater Bowl?
- 39:38Speaker 11: No.
- 39:39Speaker 7: Okay, I just checked it. But I go back to
- 39:41Speaker 7: what Chip was saying. You think about it at halftime
- 39:44Speaker 7: in the past. Elko usually, teams cannot dominate the third quarter.
- 39:48Speaker 7: So they're thinking, okay, we should have scored. They dropped
- 39:53Speaker 7: a touchdown pass. We still have them right where we
- 39:55Speaker 7: want them. And I'm not saying they did, but you
- 39:58Speaker 7: wouldn't blame them if they had that attitude.
- 40:00Speaker 6: Right, because we saw it against South Carolina, right?
- 40:03Speaker 5: We've seen a lot of times where they've been much
- 40:05Speaker 5: better in the second half.
- 40:06Speaker 7: This year they played better in the second half against
- 40:08Speaker 7: Arizona State. They played better against even Missouri State. And
- 40:12Speaker 7: so why wouldn't they think, oh, we got this.
- 40:13Speaker 6: And they came back and just dominated LSU in the
- 40:16Speaker 6: second half last year. Yes.
- 40:17Speaker 7: They thought they had it.
- 40:18Speaker 6: They didn't. No, they did not. And that was my
- 40:20Speaker 6: expectation at the half. My kids were just, like, fired up.
- 40:25Speaker 9: And you're going, hey, hey, settle down. What I said is, like,
- 40:29Speaker 9: they were even with Alabama last week. Alabama came back
- 40:32Speaker 9: and ran away from them. A & M' s about to
- 40:34Speaker 9: come back and run away from them.
- 40:36Speaker 6: And then first drive, boom, boom, boom, touchdown. I'm like, geez,
- 40:40Speaker 6: maybe not.
- 40:41Speaker 7: Getting back to what Chip's saying, which was very good honesty,
- 40:44Speaker 7: if you ask maybe a Sumlin or– in the same
- 40:47Speaker 7: situation as Jimbo, like, oh, that wasn't the case.
- 40:49Speaker 6: We were okay.
- 40:50Speaker 7: I mean, they would just slough it off. No, Elko's
- 40:52Speaker 7: saying they never adjusted to that. They had a problem
- 40:56Speaker 7: all week.
- 40:57Speaker 9: Well, and again, I understand the BAS, the battered ice
- 41:00Speaker 9: in there, because we saw A & M had one
- 41:03Speaker 9: good season under Mike Sherman. They had one really good
- 41:06Speaker 9: season under Kevin Stubman, one really good season.
- 41:09Speaker 6: Under Jimbo Fisher. And you're going, oh, no, is this–
- 41:13Speaker 6: Did we already see the one good season?
- 41:15Speaker 9: I'm not giving up on Elka, but I understand the
- 41:17Speaker 9: fan base overreacting because that was just so unexpected.
- 41:21Speaker 6: And you know what?
- 41:22Speaker 7: That's why he's been here before. And he's talked to
- 41:24Speaker 7: Elk several times leading in this season.
- 41:27Speaker 12: Yes, he has.
- 41:27Speaker 7: We need to have back-to-back this season because he knows
- 41:30Speaker 7: the Aggies. Yes, he has. He knew that.
- 41:32Speaker 6: He does.
- 41:32Speaker 7: And he prepared his team mentally like, we need to
- 41:35Speaker 7: get it done.
- 41:36Speaker 6: Yes.
- 41:36Speaker 7: He didn't want to hear about five road games.
- 41:38Speaker 4: Right, right.
- 41:38Speaker 6: Exactly.
- 41:39Speaker 7: Worst possible thing, you lose your first home game. You've
- 41:42Speaker 7: got to protect the home court. And they didn't do it. Okay, boys.
- 41:47Speaker 8: You said all you want to say about this game.
- 41:50Speaker 5: We'll move on to the rest of college football when
- 41:53Speaker 5: we come back. The Rangers report is brought to you
- 41:56Speaker 5: by Schulte Roofing and the Decker Financial Group.
- 42:00Speaker 10: It was after a hailstorm a few years back. I
- 42:02Speaker 10: needed a new roof. Yeah, I shopped around, and then
- 42:04Speaker 10: I found Schulte Roofing, and boy, I'm glad I did.
- 42:07Speaker 10: The folks at Schulte guided me every step of the way.
- 42:10Speaker 10: They showed me my options. They told me what my
- 42:12Speaker 10: out-of-pocket cost would be after insurance. They took the complication
- 42:16Speaker 10: out of an otherwise very stressful situation. They took off
- 42:19Speaker 10: the damaged roof, put on the new roof, did all
- 42:21Speaker 10: the cleanup, and I had my new roof in one day.
- 42:23Speaker 4: Schulte Roofing, the home of the bulletproof roofing.
- 42:31Speaker 17: I'm Jett Nelson with your Texas Rangers report. Texas holds
- 42:34Speaker 17: on to first in the division despite dropping game three
- 42:37Speaker 17: to the Blue Jays. Details coming up.
- 42:39Speaker 18: When the work is demanding, you need equipment you can
- 42:41Speaker 18: count on and a partner who stands behind it. That's
- 42:44Speaker 18: why contractors across Texas and Oklahoma turn to ASCO and
- 42:47Speaker 18: Case Construction. From compact track loaders and excavators to a
- 42:51Speaker 18: full lineup of light and heavy equipment, ASCO delivers the machines, parts, service,
- 42:56Speaker 18: and support to help keep your operation moving. Visit your

- 43:03Speaker 18: full Case Construction lineup. ASCO and Case Construction, built to work,
- 43:08Speaker 18: built to last.
- 43:09Speaker 17: The Texas Rangers couldn't complete the sweep as the Toronto
- 43:12Speaker 17: Blue Jays got the win in Arlington yesterday, that final
- 43:14Speaker 17: score 7-2. Toronto's offense scored early and often with a
- 43:18Speaker 17: sack fly to get things started in the first, followed
- 43:20Speaker 17: by an RBI double in the third. Texas got their
- 43:23Speaker 17: two runs off of this big swing for Jake Berger.
- 43:26Speaker 19: And here's the pitch and that's it high and deep
- 43:28Speaker 19: to left center field. Way back goes Bateman. He's at
- 43:32Speaker 19: the wall. That ball is history. Bateman might have gotten
- 43:36Speaker 19: a glove on it, but it wound up in the
- 43:38Speaker 19: Blue Jays bullpen. This game is tied to two on
- 43:43Speaker 19: a towering home run by Jake Berger.
- 43:46Speaker 17: The Blue Jays took over in the fifth with an
- 43:48Speaker 17: RBI singled, followed by four runs in the seventh to
- 43:50Speaker 17: keep Texas out of reach. Texas remains in first for
- 43:53Speaker 17: the AL West as they host the Mets for a
- 43:55Speaker 17: three-game series starting tomorrow night. With your Texas Rangers report,
- 43:58Speaker 17: I'm Jett Nelson.

- 44:36Speaker 16: Last night I took your picture out from my old
- 44:39Speaker 16: desert drawer.
- 44:40Speaker 6: Rusty. I set it on the table.
- 44:43Speaker 8: Digging up bones just for you.
- 44:44Speaker 6: Thank you. That's awesome.
- 44:47Speaker 7: Just for you. He speaks, the world listens.
- 44:52Speaker 6: I don't think anybody else listens to me, but I
- 44:53Speaker 6: appreciate you.
- 44:55Speaker 8: Thoughts from this last weekend?
- 44:57Speaker 7: We mentioned a little LSU, Ole Miss.
- 45:01Speaker 6: How about the Vandy finish?
- 45:04Speaker 7: Talk about coaching, Chip.
- 45:06Speaker 6: Come on.
- 45:07Speaker 8: What happened?
- 45:09Speaker 5: And then, the coach throws the quarterback under the bus.
- 45:14Speaker 7: And I'm going, come on, man. Are you kidding me?
- 45:20Speaker 8: That's his fault?
- 45:22Speaker 5: You don't tell him to kneel down with three seconds
- 45:25Speaker 5: or whatever's left.
- 45:26Speaker 8: You don't tell him.
- 45:28Speaker 5: After you take the snap, just run out of the
- 45:31Speaker 5: back of the end zone. If you think you're going
- 45:32Speaker 5: to take a safety, first of all, I don't know
- 45:34Speaker 5: why they're doing that.
- 45:36Speaker 8: Just run it out. And then, well, I can't hold
- 45:41Speaker 8: on to the ball for him. That guy would be,
- 45:44Speaker 8: if I'm the AD, he'd be in my office the
- 45:47Speaker 8: next day.
- 45:47Speaker 6: I told you guys last week that I was a
- 45:49Speaker 6: punter in high school. Yeah. And so we're playing a team,
- 45:52Speaker 6: and it was similar situations, late in the game, and
- 45:54Speaker 6: I'm punting. The coach calls timeout and goes, here's what
- 45:57Speaker 6: we're going to do.
- 45:58Speaker 9: I need you to run to the back of the
- 46:00Speaker 9: end zone as fast as you can.
- 46:02Speaker 6: And don't run out of bounds. Don't run out of bounds.
- 46:04Speaker 6: Because they're not going to know what you're doing.
- 46:06Speaker 5: Right.
- 46:07Speaker 6: But then just run out. Yeah. And that was the
- 46:10Speaker 6: most nervous I think I've ever been. I was like,
- 46:12Speaker 6: do not trip. That's your running back.
- 46:15Speaker 8: Don't drop the ball.
- 46:16Speaker 6: Don't drop the ball. Yeah, this is like, oh, my gosh. Oh.
- 46:20Speaker 7: It's basic high school football.
- 46:21Speaker 6: Right, right. And I said, you know.
- 46:24Speaker 9: But do you remember when Baylor played UNLV and they're
- 46:27Speaker 9: up and they're running back fumbled?
- 46:29Speaker 8: And what was the coach's explanation?
- 46:31Speaker 6: They were trying to score again. I don't know. I mean,
- 46:35Speaker 6: wasn't that Chuck Reedy?
- 46:36Speaker 7: Was it Chuck Reedy?
- 46:39Speaker 8: Who was the shower with your sister guy?
- 46:41Speaker 6: Who was that coach?
- 46:43Speaker 7: It was, who was it?
- 46:45Speaker 6: I think it was Chuck Reedy.
- 46:47Speaker 8: No, I don't think it was Chuck Reedy.
- 46:48Speaker 7: No, no, no, no, no, no.
- 46:49Speaker 3: It was the other one.
- 46:50Speaker 7: What was the guy's name?
- 46:52Speaker 3: Come on.
- 46:52Speaker 6: Somebody will call in.
- 46:53Speaker 8: I know they know his name. Get the list of
- 46:57Speaker 8: Baylor coaches, Rusty.
- 46:58Speaker 6: I'm looking it up.
- 46:59Speaker 3: Okay, okay.
- 46:59Speaker 7: Look it up.
- 47:00Speaker 6: Rusty will look it up.
- 47:01Speaker 8: I'm not worried.
- 47:02Speaker 5: Pete Golding, who I had questions, because I didn't pick
- 47:07Speaker 5: Ole Miss, and they're like the top three going in.
- 47:10Speaker 8: But Pete Golding has now faced five top 25 teams.
- 47:13Speaker 6: It was Kevin Steele.
- 47:15Speaker 7: Kevin Steele, yes. It was Kevin Steele.
- 47:17Speaker 6: Chuck Reedy did Dave Roberts.
- 47:19Speaker 5: No, who was before Kevin Steele then?
- 47:23Speaker 6: Dave Roberts. Dave Roberts.
- 47:24Speaker 3: I think it was Steele.
- 47:25Speaker 7: Guy Morris?
- 47:26Speaker 6: Guy Morris!
- 47:27Speaker 10: Yes.
- 47:28Speaker 7: I thought it was Guy Morris.
- 47:29Speaker 5: Guy Morris is the showering with your sister guy. I'll
- 47:33Speaker 5: never forget asking him about that quote.
- 47:36Speaker 7: I think Steele was the fumble.
- 47:37Speaker 6: Steele was the fumble.
- 47:39Speaker 9: You're trying to tell me that autographed Baylor helmet I
- 47:44Speaker 9: have by Kevin Steele is not worth anything?
- 47:46Speaker 6: I've got an autographed Franz helmet I can give to you, though.
- 47:49Speaker 8: You can try. Pete Golding's face.
- 47:53Speaker 5: Five top 25 teams in the first six games he's
- 47:56Speaker 5: coached at Ole Miss.
- 47:57Speaker 6: One of three of them.
- 47:57Speaker 7: He's four and one.
- 47:58Speaker 6: Wow.
- 47:59Speaker 5: Four and one. Wow.
- 48:00Speaker 8: How about that?
- 48:01Speaker 6: Well, he's three.
- 48:04Speaker 8: He's two and one against top ten teams.
- 48:06Speaker 6: Okay.
- 48:07Speaker 5: Okay.
- 48:08Speaker 6: That's pretty good. Not a bad hire.
- 48:09Speaker 7: That's pretty good.
- 48:10Speaker 6: That's better than Lane. That's really good.
- 48:12Speaker 7: It's better than late. I thought the SMU, I didn't
- 48:15Speaker 7: get to see it.
- 48:15Speaker 8: That was entertaining. I knew it would be entertaining.
- 48:18Speaker 5: I tell you, I've seen some really good football teams,
- 48:22Speaker 5: and they've lost games. But SMU, I thought Louisville was
- 48:26Speaker 5: a good team when we saw them, especially the second half.
- 48:30Speaker 5: I tell you, that was a very entertaining game, and
- 48:33Speaker 5: those are.
- 48:34Speaker 8: Good football teams. And one of them ain't going to
- 48:37Speaker 8: make the playoffs. No, it's a shame. They're just not.
- 48:40Speaker 5: Miami's going to, and now as long as Louisville holds on,
- 48:44Speaker 5: they're going to.
- 48:46Speaker 7: I think Texas Tech's not as good as people think.
- 48:48Speaker 8: Well, I tell you what. I tell you who's good.
- 48:50Speaker 8: That's Houston.
- 48:52Speaker 5: Now, I picked Tech because they were in Lubbock, and
- 48:55Speaker 5: I was regretting that pick when I watched the first
- 48:58Speaker 5: part of that game. I shouldn't doubt Willie Fritz. He's
- 49:02Speaker 5: a heck of a football coach. And I think Houston
- 49:05Speaker 5: is a good football team. I know Utah and BYU
- 49:10Speaker 5: are right there. And Arizona State, to me, is kind
- 49:14Speaker 5: of on the fringe of that.
- 49:16Speaker 8: But, man, Tech played okay. They weren't great, but they
- 49:22Speaker 8: did okay at home.
- 49:24Speaker 5: Both of those teams have lines of scrimmage, which kind
- 49:27Speaker 5: of surprised me on both sides of the ball. I
- 49:30Speaker 5: thought that was a really entertaining football game. Those two
- 49:34Speaker 5: games that you mentioned, Cease, and both of those losing teams,
- 49:38Speaker 5: SMU and Houston, They're good football teams.
- 49:41Speaker 6: I think A & M' s pretty lucky. They don't have
- 49:44Speaker 6: to play Mississippi or Mississippi State. Oh, I agree. State
- 49:47Speaker 6: of Mississippi's pretty good.
- 49:49Speaker 8: They are pretty good.
- 49:50Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 49:50Speaker 6: Mississippi State's a lot better than I thought they were.
- 49:53Speaker 5: I got to tell you, I'm looking at this Tennessee-Texas
- 49:56Speaker 5: game on Saturday.
- 49:58Speaker 6: Okay. Yeah.
- 49:59Speaker 8: I'm underwhelmed right now.
- 50:02Speaker 6: I got UT in this one. Yeah.
- 50:04Speaker 8: I got the team in orange.
- 50:06Speaker 6: Yes.
- 50:07Speaker 7: I'm underwhelmed.
- 50:09Speaker 8: By Arch Manning especially.
- 50:12Speaker 5: You were talking about Marcel not being accurate.
- 50:19Speaker 8: And the numbers just speak for themselves. Okay, you can't,
- 50:23Speaker 8: those aren't.
- 50:24Speaker 5: Going to lie. His passing percentage is not good. And
- 50:29Speaker 5: he is still missing passes, open receivers.
- 50:35Speaker 8: And he had time. Last year he didn't for the
- 50:37Speaker 8: first half.
- 50:38Speaker 6: Mm-hmm.
- 50:38Speaker 5: He's got time. I saw a stat this weekend. He's
- 50:41Speaker 5: got the second most time right now in the SEC
- 50:44Speaker 5: in the pocket. Wow.
- 50:45Speaker 6: He's got a clutch factor to him, though.
- 50:47Speaker 7: Well, he does.
- 50:49Speaker 6: I'm not piling on.
- 50:51Speaker 5: I'm just saying I'd be a little concerned about him
- 50:56Speaker 5: spraying the ball still.
- 50:57Speaker 8: I get it.
- 50:58Speaker 6: But when you go back to the second half against
- 51:00Speaker 6: Texas A & M and the fourth quarter against Ohio State. Yeah, yeah.
- 51:03Speaker 6: He's pretty good. Oh, I'm not saying he's not.
- 51:06Speaker 18: Yeah.
- 51:06Speaker 5: I'm just saying there's a little issue there. And playing
- 51:10Speaker 5: at Sark, and I know it's because he's playing there.
- 51:13Speaker 7: I get that.
- 51:14Speaker 5: He called it the loudest stadium he's ever played in
- 51:17Speaker 5: is Neyland Stadium.
- 51:18Speaker 8: He said the crowd is that loud there.
- 51:23Speaker 6: They throw stuff at you, too, kind of like Texas.
- 51:26Speaker 8: And Arkansas and LSU.
- 51:29Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 51:30Speaker 7: I haven't been on their fans.
- 51:31Speaker 8: Did I hear booze on Saturday?
- 51:33Speaker 16: You did.
- 51:34Speaker 6: You did. Okay. After the fourth down play, Calfield was booing.
- 51:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 51:39Speaker 6: I may have been leading that.
- 51:40Speaker 7: I think another fan base that's got to be upset
- 51:44Speaker 7: is Oklahoma.
- 51:45Speaker 5: Oh.
- 51:45Speaker 7: When you beat New Mexico 14-6.
- 51:47Speaker 5: And by the way, I'm the only one crazy enough
- 51:52Speaker 5: to watch some of them.
- 51:53Speaker 7: I was flipping.
- 51:55Speaker 5: But New Mexico, they could have it.
- 51:59Speaker 7: Maybe you could make an argument. Should have won that game.
- 52:02Speaker 18: Is that right?
- 52:03Speaker 6: Yeah. Wow.
- 52:03Speaker 7: Oklahoma's like, Here's the football.
- 52:06Speaker 8: We're giving it to you. You go win the game.
- 52:09Speaker 7: Go to the back of the end zone.
- 52:12Speaker 6: No, no, thanks. We're just not good enough. It's like
- 52:14Speaker 6: SMU playing Florida State. Yes. SMU is trying to give
- 52:17Speaker 6: them the game.
- 52:18Speaker 8: Same kind of situation. Same kind of situation.
- 52:21Speaker 6: Florida State just refused to take it, man.
- 52:22Speaker 8: Same kind of situation.
- 52:24Speaker 7: And Oklahoma just gave him an extension.
- 52:26Speaker 9: Did you see the rumors at Florida State?
- 52:29Speaker 19: Oh, yeah.
- 52:30Speaker 6: Jimbo.
- 52:30Speaker 19: No.
- 52:30Speaker 6: Jimbo. Yeah. You know what?
- 52:35Speaker 7: Let them have it.
- 52:35Speaker 6: Let them have it. Right?
- 52:37Speaker 7: They get them cheap, and they can put their money
- 52:39Speaker 7: in the NIL then. Well, I tell you, sometimes, sometimes.
- 52:44Speaker 6: They get paid by A & M for the next
- 52:45Speaker 6: 10 years.
- 52:46Speaker 5: Like Florida, they've changed coaches, and so far that's worked
- 52:50Speaker 5: out well for them. We've got a long way to
- 52:53Speaker 5: go here. We're not that deep. We're three games into this,
- 52:57Speaker 5: and we're just starting the league play.
- 52:59Speaker 19: I understand.
- 52:59Speaker 6: I understand.
- 53:00Speaker 7: We've got a long way to go. But Florida's trending up.
- 53:04Speaker 7: There's no doubt about it.
- 53:05Speaker 5: And they've got the best running back now that Keywon
- 53:08Speaker 5: Lacey is out.
- 53:08Speaker 8: They've got the best running back in college football.
- 53:11Speaker 7: Oklahoma, South Carolina, and A & M are trending down?
- 53:14Speaker 7: They're trending down for sure.
- 53:16Speaker 9: You know, I watched some of that Baylor-Auburn game.
- 53:19Speaker 6: I was surprised.
- 53:20Speaker 9: That Auburn played Florida that closely.
- 53:23Speaker 6: Me too. Because I thought Auburn was kind of awful
- 53:26Speaker 6: against Baylor. Correct.
- 53:28Speaker 8: I don't know that Florida's great.
- 53:31Speaker 7: You know?
- 53:32Speaker 6: Like you said, it's early.
- 53:33Speaker 7: It's early?
- 53:35Speaker 6: Every week's full of surprises, right?
- 53:37Speaker 7: Every week is full of surprises. But they're playing so
- 53:40Speaker 7: many SEC games right now. It means so much. We're
- 53:43Speaker 7: going to know real quick how good is Tennessee.
- 53:45Speaker 6: Florida put it on Portland State, didn't they?
- 53:48Speaker 7: Oh, I heard that score. I go, give me a break.
- 53:50Speaker 6: That was almost like SMU.
- 53:53Speaker 8: They were making up for the Oklahoma State game, I guess.
- 53:55Speaker 18: I guess.
- 53:56Speaker 6: That was almost like Houston-like when they played SMU.
- 53:58Speaker 7: Did Oklahoma State play this week?
- 54:00Speaker 6: They did. What did they do? They won.
- 54:02Speaker 5: They played at directional school, I know. I don't think
- 54:07Speaker 5: Alabama is eighth right now.
- 54:09Speaker 7: I will say that.
- 54:10Speaker 6: But who is?
- 54:12Speaker 7: Well, you know, see. Like Indiana hasn't played anybody.
- 54:15Speaker 8: Indiana has not played anybody.
- 54:17Speaker 7: Notre Dame really hasn't played anybody.
- 54:19Speaker 6: 59-0 is Murray State. Okay.
- 54:23Speaker 8: Did you see Colorado get blown out by Northwestern? USC
- 54:26Speaker 8: came very close to losing to Rutgers.
- 54:28Speaker 7: You talk about stats. I saw a stat. I think
- 54:31Speaker 7: of all the Power Four Conference teams, Notre Dame and
- 54:35Speaker 7: somebody else does not have a 20-yard run. That there
- 54:39Speaker 7: is concern about Notre Dame because they can't run the
- 54:43Speaker 7: ball and Carr hasn't been as.
- 54:44Speaker 8: Good as people think.
- 54:45Speaker 5: I'll tell you what, Texas ain't running the ball great.
- 54:47Speaker 5: Their offense, to me, hadn't looked great. Except for the
- 54:51Speaker 5: fourth quarter against Ohio State.
- 54:53Speaker 7: I like the fact that the college football committee doesn't
- 54:56Speaker 7: come out until whenever it is.
- 54:57Speaker 5: No, no.
- 54:58Speaker 7: There's not enough games.
- 54:59Speaker 5: There's not enough games. I'm just telling you the teams
- 55:02Speaker 5: I've seen play, right? And if I'm voting, I'm voting
- 55:05Speaker 5: just on what I've seen.
- 55:06Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 55:07Speaker 5: And I do think some teams should be rewarded for
- 55:10Speaker 5: playing games, right? I wouldn't drop Ohio State down like that.
- 55:13Speaker 5: You know, I think some teams... that a play game
- 55:18Speaker 5: should be rewarded. Are we going to reward them or
- 55:20Speaker 5: are we not? Guys, we're done for the day.
- 55:22Speaker 6: That was fast.
- 55:23Speaker 5: Didn't expect to have this conversation this week. We'll see
- 55:27Speaker 5: what happens next week.
- 55:28Speaker 6: Didn't expect to mention Hadle either.
- 55:32Speaker 5: David Gardner's Jewelers has coming up this weekend, the Big Wheels, watches,
