- 0:04Speaker 2: Almost Famous to OG's Bob Guinea. Here without my lovely
- 0:08Speaker 2: co host Trista Sutter nay Wren. However, I have another
- 0:13Speaker 2: beautiful person with me today, Natasha. Thank you for joining us.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Natasha Parker, how are you.
- 0:17Speaker 3: I'm so good. Thank you for having me, Thank you
- 0:19Speaker 3: for being here.
- 0:20Speaker 2: And you have your golf chicon for today's almost famous, Yes,
- 0:23Speaker 2: incredibly average something not entirely sure what the name of
- 0:26Speaker 2: this thing is, but the almost famous what is it called?
- 0:31Speaker 3: The famous Beverage very average, almost average.
- 0:35Speaker 4: Famously almost average golf day.
- 0:39Speaker 2: So that's what we're doing today. So Natasha, our viewers
- 0:45Speaker 2: and listeners will know you from, of course, from Peter
- 0:48Speaker 2: Webers season of The Bachelor, and then you went on
- 0:51Speaker 2: The Bachelor in Paradise not too long after that, So
- 0:54Speaker 2: I want to talk to you about a little bit
- 0:55Speaker 2: of that, and then I want to get into what
- 0:56Speaker 2: you're up to right now, which I know the Hidden
- 0:58Speaker 2: Gems and watched a couple episodes the other day and
- 1:01Speaker 2: so I got myself, you know, into zone, so I
- 1:04Speaker 2: knew who you were last night and you're like, Hi,
- 1:05Speaker 2: I'm Thesasha. Yeah, yeah, no. But so you went on
- 1:09Speaker 2: Peter's season and this this was several years ago for you,
- 1:13Speaker 2: now right, I mean how many years ago was that? Five?
- 1:15Speaker 3: Pre pandemic? Twenty nineteen?
- 1:16Speaker 2: Okay, so yeah, five years yep. So you go on
- 1:19Speaker 2: it's twenty nineteen. Do you know that Peter's going to
- 1:22Speaker 2: be the Bachelor before you go? Now, what has you
- 1:25Speaker 2: even motivated to submit your information for a show like guess?
- 1:28Speaker 1: Well, a friend of mine, Julie Lapaca, who was a
- 1:31Speaker 1: producer on the show. It's the whole reason why I
- 1:33Speaker 1: went on that show, Okay, and we love her for
- 1:36Speaker 1: it and we hate.
- 1:36Speaker 3: Her for it. Yeah, a love hate thing that right,
- 1:39Speaker 3: Yeah exactly.
- 1:40Speaker 1: She actually was like, she's she really wanted me to
- 1:43Speaker 1: go on the season before that, which was Colton's season,
- 1:45Speaker 1: and she really was trying to push. But I was
- 1:47Speaker 1: working in my corporate job. I was like, girl, I
- 1:49Speaker 1: can't quit my job to go on this show. But
- 1:51Speaker 1: I just so happen. Life happened. I quit my job
- 1:53Speaker 1: to go freelance anyway. And she was like, well, you're
- 1:56Speaker 1: between gigs right now, you should really just I've spent
- 1:58Speaker 1: a she said, She's spent three months with the bachelor
- 2:01Speaker 1: and you'd really like him.
- 2:02Speaker 3: This is one of my best friends.
- 2:03Speaker 1: And I'm like, She's like, the best thing that could
- 2:05Speaker 1: happen is you'll never have to date again. The worst
- 2:08Speaker 1: thing that will happen is you have an experience. And
- 2:10Speaker 1: I was like, never having to date again, great sign.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Experience, Yeah yeah, at least an.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Experience, and exactly and experience, yeah yeah, And so I
- 2:20Speaker 1: was like sure, So she sent an email I sent.
- 2:22Speaker 1: I had to send her like thousands of pictures in
- 2:24Speaker 1: like a bio that took me forever to write myself,
- 2:27Speaker 1: and then I didn't hear anything for months, and then
- 2:31Speaker 1: one person called from casting, then another person, another person.
- 2:33Speaker 1: I don't know if someone just like if they backed
- 2:36Speaker 1: out or what happened, but apparently there was supposed to
- 2:40Speaker 1: be thirty six people for our season and ended up
- 2:44Speaker 1: being thirty three. And I was like a very last edition,
- 2:48Speaker 1: just so much so they started calling Labor Day and
- 2:51Speaker 1: we left like on the sixteenth or something, so it
- 2:55Speaker 1: was like two weeks.
- 2:57Speaker 4: My experience was pretty similar for trist this season when
- 3:00Speaker 4: I was on her season with The Bachelorette.
- 3:02Speaker 2: I was a last minute person. But it was so
- 3:04Speaker 2: funny because I didn't send in anything.
- 3:06Speaker 3: You didn't say, so how did they get in contact
- 3:08Speaker 3: with you?
- 3:09Speaker 2: They went through my assistance at my office and they
- 3:12Speaker 2: just flew me outside unseen to meet them. That's a
- 3:15Speaker 2: different story, I'll tell you later. Yeah, yeah, yeah, this
- 3:17Speaker 2: is this is about you, yea. But yeah, I think
- 3:20Speaker 2: it's so exciting because you know, sometimes that last minute thing,
- 3:23Speaker 2: you don't really have time to second guess it. You're
- 3:25Speaker 2: just like, oh, what the hell, here we go.
- 3:26Speaker 3: Yeah, And that's honestly, that's so me.
- 3:28Speaker 1: And there's so many times in my life where I
- 3:30Speaker 1: was just like, let's go or let's do it, and
- 3:32Speaker 1: I've had like the best nights or the best trips,
- 3:35Speaker 1: just like booking it on a whim.
- 3:36Speaker 3: So I was like, why not?
- 3:38Speaker 4: You know.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Yeah, sometimes I think when you put too much into
- 3:41Speaker 2: it in your head, you might even have to ruin it.
- 3:43Speaker 3: Yeah, you talked yourself out of it for sure.
- 3:44Speaker 4: Now.
- 3:45Speaker 2: I read something the other day that said, at the time,
- 3:48Speaker 2: you were an event planner, but you also had a
- 3:49Speaker 2: bunch of production experience too. So did you feel like,
- 3:53Speaker 2: you know, that kind of production experience helped you going
- 3:56Speaker 2: into the situation where you're like, Okay, I'm clearly being
- 3:58Speaker 2: produced in this moment.
- 3:59Speaker 1: No, no, I Well, the thing is is, I didn't
- 4:02Speaker 1: watch the show. And it's funny that a lot of
- 4:05Speaker 1: people say that all the time, and the producers even
- 4:07Speaker 1: said that. There's a clip in the very first episode
- 4:10Speaker 1: where the first impression Rose comes out and everyone's like, oh,
- 4:14Speaker 1: and I'm like the what, Like, I literally did not
- 4:17Speaker 1: I did not watch this show. I watched Limo Entrances
- 4:20Speaker 1: the very first night, like like while I was packing
- 4:23Speaker 1: to go. That was the only thing that I did.
- 4:25Speaker 1: Because my friends were like, you have to watch that
- 4:26Speaker 1: at least and know what you're gonna do.
- 4:28Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Yeah, But so I literally didn't watch. And you know,
- 4:33Speaker 1: I come from a film and like scripted television background,
- 4:36Speaker 1: so it's actors.
- 4:38Speaker 3: It's like sitting and interviewing Robert de Niro, you know, yeah, exactly.
- 4:43Speaker 1: So it's very much a different thing when it's like
- 4:45Speaker 1: your actual real life. So it was funny because that
- 4:48Speaker 1: was a theme on our season. They were like afterwards,
- 4:50Speaker 1: I read it, and Natasha's a producer plant she worked
- 4:52Speaker 1: in production. I was like, I wish I knew what
- 4:55Speaker 1: was going on, honey, I wish I did not My
- 4:58Speaker 1: head was on a swivel. Let me tell you, Oh,
- 5:00Speaker 1: I'm sure.
- 5:01Speaker 4: Well, then you go on and you meet, you know
- 5:03Speaker 4: a bunch of people who I know you have really
- 5:04Speaker 4: great friendships with still to this day, a lot of
- 5:06Speaker 4: the girls on the show, and then you know you
- 5:09Speaker 4: you were you were in here earlier when we were
- 5:11Speaker 4: talking about something else, which was of course at the
- 5:13Speaker 4: end of Peter's season.
- 5:14Speaker 2: Oh yeah, there was a lot of drama, right, drama
- 5:16Speaker 2: from his MoMA drama. Were you like so happy that
- 5:21Speaker 2: you weren't involved in that at that moment? It was
- 5:24Speaker 2: kind of dicey.
- 5:24Speaker 3: Oh yeah, oh yeah, but I mean I it was.
- 5:29Speaker 1: It was very clear that watching it, like watching it
- 5:33Speaker 1: back and then also remembering the conversations that we had,
- 5:37Speaker 1: but then also watching how the end happened.
- 5:39Speaker 3: It was like, Peter does.
- 5:41Speaker 1: Not know what he wants and you know, as a mom,
- 5:45Speaker 1: how do you think that about your kid?
- 5:46Speaker 3: Right?
- 5:47Speaker 1: So I was it's a hard situation because obviously she's like,
- 5:51Speaker 1: he can do no wrong in her.
- 5:52Speaker 3: Eyes, which I get.
- 5:53Speaker 1: I mean, I don't have any kids, but I feel
- 5:54Speaker 1: like I probably feel the same way your mom. Yes,
- 5:58Speaker 1: but does but does your but does your your why
- 6:00Speaker 1: feel that way.
- 6:01Speaker 2: Yeah, she's pretty much realized.
- 6:03Speaker 4: But but I will say this, at that once we're
- 6:04Speaker 4: at that stage, I'm hopeful we.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Could both see through the clouds. Yeah. No, I think
- 6:09Speaker 2: you're right too.
- 6:10Speaker 3: You know, I think a lot I'm glad I wasn't
- 6:11Speaker 3: in that, I know, and.
- 6:12Speaker 2: I think a lot of times those bachelors get to
- 6:14Speaker 2: that point and it's like, if you've already, if you're
- 6:16Speaker 2: dead set on one person, then that's one version, right,
- 6:21Speaker 2: But if you're still not knowing which direction you're gonna go,
- 6:24Speaker 2: you can be kind of pulled in a bunch of
- 6:25Speaker 2: different directions.
- 6:26Speaker 4: Wow.
- 6:27Speaker 2: And that's obviously I think where Peter was right to
- 6:29Speaker 2: a few of those things. So I mean, in that way,
- 6:31Speaker 2: I think you probably dodged a bullet. I'm sure he's
- 6:33Speaker 2: a very nice guy, but right, you kind of got
- 6:35Speaker 2: out of the.
- 6:35Speaker 3: Way with Peter. Yeah.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Yeah, it's so funny how many people say that, and
- 6:39Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, poor Peter. I mean he is a
- 6:41Speaker 1: really really nice person, but not someone that I should
- 6:45Speaker 1: have dated.
- 6:46Speaker 2: Right there you go, right, and so you did get
- 6:49Speaker 2: to learn from your experience. Oh yeah, and you did that?
- 6:52Speaker 2: Did that kind of fine tune you for what you
- 6:53Speaker 2: were looking for out relationship wise after the show.
- 6:56Speaker 1: Well, I definitely think this experience and going on the show,
- 7:01Speaker 1: and I've talked about this on my podcast too. It's
- 7:03Speaker 1: such a social experiment and like you learn so much
- 7:07Speaker 1: about yourself because you're talking about your feelings all day
- 7:09Speaker 1: and like why you can express this, but you can
- 7:12Speaker 1: express this. And actually Serena Pitt was on my podcast
- 7:16Speaker 1: not too long ago and we were talking about how
- 7:18Speaker 1: like someone like her is very kind of closed in
- 7:21Speaker 1: real life, but she really thrives on the show, and
- 7:24Speaker 1: how I am someone who's very open in real life,
- 7:26Speaker 1: but then I like close down in the show, you know,
- 7:29Speaker 1: So it definitely you know, I wouldn't think that I
- 7:32Speaker 1: would be like that, and she was like, I wouldn't
- 7:35Speaker 1: think that you would be like that either. So you
- 7:36Speaker 1: definitely learned so much about yourself going on the show.
- 7:39Speaker 1: And yeah, and dating, Like I also was like a
- 7:41Speaker 1: lot of the guys that I've dated in real life
- 7:43Speaker 1: would not go on this show or it would be
- 7:45Speaker 1: one of those situations where you know they're plucked out
- 7:48Speaker 1: of you know, there's certain exactly exactly exactly, So it's
- 7:54Speaker 1: definitely an eye opening experience for sure, and you and
- 7:56Speaker 1: you do and there's I mean, I've become so much
- 7:58Speaker 1: more vocal and relationships. You know, I feel like I
- 8:01Speaker 1: had such an anxious attachment style before going on the show,
- 8:04Speaker 1: and I really had to work on that after in
- 8:06Speaker 1: like my there of his and yeah, yeah, oh yeah,
- 8:11Speaker 1: I had to. But yeah, so the reflection is like invaluable.
- 8:15Speaker 2: You know, what was it like for you two, Like,
- 8:27Speaker 2: you know, you go into a circumstance like that. Your
- 8:29Speaker 2: previous experience had been behind the camera, right, and so
- 8:33Speaker 2: now you go on that show and all of a
- 8:34Speaker 2: sudden you have all these people armchair quarterbacking how you act, right,
- 8:37Speaker 2: so they're they're chiming in on social media and things.
- 8:40Speaker 2: Was that tough for you? Yea, even though you had
- 8:42Speaker 2: a lot of people who obviously loved you and thought
- 8:44Speaker 2: you were wonderful and everything. But for me, the hardest
- 8:47Speaker 2: part was and this is even before social media to
- 8:50Speaker 2: date me even more. But I remember someone would say,
- 8:53Speaker 2: you know, a million nice things about me and it
- 8:54Speaker 2: wouldn't even register, but one mean thing and that would
- 8:57Speaker 2: stick with me for days. Yes, And did you experience
- 8:59Speaker 2: a little bit of that?
- 9:00Speaker 1: Oh yeah, oh yeah, I mean it's it's like inhuman
- 9:03Speaker 1: right to to hear not. I mean with social media,
- 9:07Speaker 1: it's like it's one thing to see a headline and
- 9:10Speaker 1: see someone write something salacious about you, like on a headline, right,
- 9:13Speaker 1: and it's another thing. And you know, like, okay, they're
- 9:16Speaker 1: doing that for clicks, and you get it. Yeah, but
- 9:19Speaker 1: then you're like, uh, you know Susie two O two
- 9:22Speaker 1: two who like has a family and like a baby,
- 9:25Speaker 1: and like you know what I.
- 9:26Speaker 2: Mean, like.
- 9:28Speaker 1: Like she looks so sweet and she's like you go,
- 9:32Speaker 1: oh my god.
- 9:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:35Speaker 1: So it definitely was really hard, and like I was
- 9:38Speaker 1: like a clap backer when I first got.
- 9:41Speaker 3: I was like, oh, what we go?
- 9:43Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:44Speaker 1: I was like I was back and like trying to
- 9:46Speaker 1: defend myself for like people on my season and things
- 9:47Speaker 1: like that. And then you realize, like these people don't
- 9:49Speaker 1: know you. They see what they see or hit a
- 9:53Speaker 1: note for two seconds from what they see on the show,
- 9:57Speaker 1: and you can't feed into it, you know.
- 10:00Speaker 2: So when I when I first came off the Bachelor stuff,
- 10:03Speaker 2: I did a lot with Oprah at the time, and
- 10:04Speaker 2: Oprah said the greatest thing to me that I've and
- 10:06Speaker 2: I've remembered this for years and then you should remember
- 10:09Speaker 2: it too. And if you ever asked this advice for
- 10:11Speaker 2: someone passing it along, Oprah always said, She's like, you know,
- 10:14Speaker 2: everyone out there is watching you live your life, and
- 10:18Speaker 2: you're in there commenting on how you're living your life,
- 10:21Speaker 2: but they don't know you. They don't know anything about
- 10:23Speaker 2: your life except what they see on TV exactly. So
- 10:25Speaker 2: their reaction is going to be based on such a
- 10:27Speaker 2: finite moment of you, and it could be a very edited,
- 10:31Speaker 2: as we all know, moment where you react to something
- 10:33Speaker 2: that maybe you didn't even do that in the moment. Yes,
- 10:36Speaker 2: I took it really to heart and it helped me
- 10:38Speaker 2: a lot because I was I was going through because
- 10:40Speaker 2: such a people pleaser, I always want everyone to like me,
- 10:42Speaker 2: and it was so hard for me to hear people
- 10:44Speaker 2: say negative things. And yeah, it really helped me. Food.
- 10:48Speaker 1: Yes, well, I will say that Joe Grocery Store, Joe
- 10:52Speaker 1: one of my good friends. He gave me some of
- 10:54Speaker 1: the best advice that I ever had from Paradise after Paradise,
- 10:57Speaker 1: because I had.
- 10:57Speaker 3: A hard time after.
- 11:01Speaker 1: But he said, you know, you can't feed into the
- 11:04Speaker 1: good comments, and you also can't feed into the bad
- 11:06Speaker 1: comments because when you feed into the good comments, you
- 11:08Speaker 1: will feel also the bad comments. So you just have
- 11:11Speaker 1: to like really hunker down and like the people who
- 11:13Speaker 1: know you in real life and care about you in
- 11:15Speaker 1: real life, those are the people who's yeah, exactly.
- 11:18Speaker 3: Those are the opinions.
- 11:19Speaker 1: Exactly, and that and that really stuck with me because
- 11:22Speaker 1: I was like, he's so right, because you can be
- 11:24Speaker 1: riding a wave one episode everyone's like yeah, Natasha.
- 11:27Speaker 3: In another episode they're like, what what's wrong with it?
- 11:29Speaker 3: That I feel like they really kind of oh yeah,
- 11:32Speaker 3: you know, oh yeah.
- 11:32Speaker 2: But yeah. I always say I'm not as great as
- 11:34Speaker 2: people think I am. I'm not as terrible as you
- 11:36Speaker 2: think I am.
- 11:36Speaker 3: Exactly figure it out exactly.
- 11:38Speaker 2: But I want to talk real quickly before we let
- 11:40Speaker 2: you go about hitting gems about your podcast. I mean,
- 11:43Speaker 2: you talk about production value. You can tell your history.
- 11:46Speaker 4: That things good, things always great, But you actually had
- 11:52Speaker 4: you had Rachel the Beast at Rachel on your season
- 11:56Speaker 4: right after she kind of announced her separation, you know,
- 12:00Speaker 4: from from her husband. Yes, and you could tell that
- 12:03Speaker 4: the two of you really clicked because I've always liked
- 12:06Speaker 4: her and I think that she was you know, really
- 12:08Speaker 4: she's always kind of been an open book to a
- 12:10Speaker 4: certain degree, but with you, I felt like she really
- 12:11Speaker 4: kind of opened up. And that's one of the videos
- 12:14Speaker 4: I watched the other day and I was like, I
- 12:15Speaker 4: want to make sure I bring that up because I wondered,
- 12:17Speaker 4: you know, did you do you feel like from your
- 12:20Speaker 4: interview with her in that moment? Like does she feel
- 12:24Speaker 4: good about where she's at? Did you feel good about
- 12:26Speaker 4: the interview you had with her?
- 12:27Speaker 2: And being a woman who's you know, gone through public
- 12:29Speaker 2: breakups and you know how difficulty can be. You know,
- 12:33Speaker 2: were you hearing good stuff? And you know how was
- 12:35Speaker 2: that for you?
- 12:36Speaker 1: I well, so before we started the podcast, because Rachel
- 12:39Speaker 1: and I are good friends and she is someone from
- 12:42Speaker 1: Bachelor Nation who the moment I went on the show,
- 12:44Speaker 1: she reached out and was like, Hey, if you ever
- 12:46Speaker 1: need any advice, if you need this, if you need that,
- 12:47Speaker 1: like very great, and we just continue to develop our friendship.
- 12:52Speaker 1: And you know, she's not she wasn't ready to talk
- 12:56Speaker 1: all the way through because obviously she's still fully going
- 12:58Speaker 1: through this divorce right, Yeah, exactly, she's in the middle
- 13:01Speaker 1: of it.
- 13:01Speaker 3: But I told her, you know, this is our safe space.
- 13:04Speaker 1: We are we will edit anything that we need to
- 13:06Speaker 1: edit in out whatever, you know what I mean, like,
- 13:09Speaker 1: and if you want to go there and we talk
- 13:11Speaker 1: about it, we definitely can.
- 13:12Speaker 3: And if you don't, then we don't.
- 13:14Speaker 1: Because you're so great, you have so many other accomplishments,
- 13:17Speaker 1: have so much stuff going on. This divorce should not
- 13:20Speaker 1: define you, you know. And obviously it's something that she
- 13:23Speaker 1: was going through and heavy on her heart. And the
- 13:25Speaker 1: whole podcast is about being stuck and getting unstuck, and
- 13:28Speaker 1: she was like, this is a very stuck moment in
- 13:30Speaker 1: my life. So she wanted to talk about it, you know,
- 13:34Speaker 1: so I just I I look at her, I talk
- 13:38Speaker 1: to her, I check on her all the time, and
- 13:40Speaker 1: you know, obviously it's not easy what she's going through,
- 13:43Speaker 1: but she's handling it so well.
- 13:45Speaker 4: Yeah she really ist network Yeah you don't, I'm still.
- 13:51Speaker 3: Here exactly exactly.
- 13:53Speaker 1: And that was the thing, and it's like, you know,
- 13:54Speaker 1: I really am excited for her when it is when
- 13:58Speaker 1: she can get to a resolution and she does want
- 14:00Speaker 1: to share her story in whatever way she wants to,
- 14:03Speaker 1: because it's kind of there's there's you know, obviously there's
- 14:06Speaker 1: a lot that she did not say, you know what
- 14:08Speaker 1: I mean, And it's just the way that she is
- 14:12Speaker 1: still like showing up. She'll call me and be like hey,
- 14:14Speaker 1: and I'm just like, oh, girl, you're dealing with this
- 14:16Speaker 1: so well. You know, I'm like, I just saw this
- 14:19Speaker 1: like video that this man just posted in all this craziness,
- 14:22Speaker 1: and like, you know, the.
