- 0:07Speaker 1: Podcasts Awards season. Coming down to the stretch here at
- 0:24Speaker 1: NHL Unscripted. End of your accolades plus some j Rob
- 0:27Speaker 1: drama Sin have found sixty on spoder Man Noir. We're
- 0:30Speaker 1: wrapping up the entire season of the NHL with no
- 0:34Speaker 1: guest today because there's so many talkings to talk about
- 0:35Speaker 1: the highlights of the year, and of course congrats the
- 0:38Speaker 1: kill and Hurricanes, Stanley Cup Champions episode eighty eight, Lindrass episode,
- 0:42Speaker 1: Nate Thompsons special guest. Of course JD at the forefront
- 0:44Speaker 1: with our producer Tel and JD was there seeing not
- 0:47Speaker 1: only the Vegas Golden Knights go down at the Fortress
- 0:50Speaker 1: as the Hurricanes when their first Cup in twenty years,
- 0:52Speaker 1: but your good friend Jordan Martinok, you get to see
- 0:54Speaker 1: also raise the Stanley Cup. Talk to me about being
- 0:57Speaker 1: there with Marty.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean it was pretty surreal, you know, you know,
- 1:02Speaker 2: the group of us kind of when I was in
- 1:04Speaker 2: Area Zona was at Canoughton Goldgowski, you know, Marty, me
- 1:08Speaker 2: Richardson and and seeing him kind of evolve as a
- 1:12Speaker 2: player and a father and a husband and and you know,
- 1:16Speaker 2: when I was with him, he had no kids, and
- 1:17Speaker 2: now he's got three, three beautiful kids, and he's such
- 1:21Speaker 2: a good guy, and it's weird. You like, it's probably
- 1:24Speaker 2: the only guy since I've retired that you know, I
- 1:27Speaker 2: rooted for all the guys that I played with, but
- 1:29Speaker 2: like I really wanted it for him. I really was
- 1:32Speaker 2: like just the human being he is. I was like
- 1:34Speaker 2: so excited. My wife flew in. Jill flew in and
- 1:38Speaker 2: was funny enough, got a random ticket in a suite
- 1:41Speaker 2: with Lisa Ander Pump and Flavor Flav. Flavor Flavor was
- 1:46Speaker 2: sitting behind her at the game yelling yeah, and she
- 1:51Speaker 2: somehow my wife found her way on the ice as
- 1:53Speaker 2: well when they gave out the cup randomly, so Jill
- 1:55Speaker 2: was on the ice too.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Wow.
- 1:58Speaker 2: So she won once again. She won the Olympics and
- 2:01Speaker 2: then now she wins the Stanley Cup. Holes. But it
- 2:04Speaker 2: was a crazy feeling watching him. I got right on
- 2:06Speaker 2: the ice. They led us on right when he left
- 2:08Speaker 2: with the cup, so it was incredible. And then as
- 2:10Speaker 2: soon as he put it down, he came sprinting over.
- 2:13Speaker 2: We had a big hog. Got to interview him, and
- 2:15Speaker 2: you know, he it was pretty cool, Like, we asked
- 2:19Speaker 2: him some questions and then I said, you know, when
- 2:22Speaker 2: you started playing, you have no kids, and now you know,
- 2:24Speaker 2: you got Chase Ivy Lane and you got you know,
- 2:27Speaker 2: three beautiful kids, and what what does this mean to
- 2:31Speaker 2: you for them? And you know, he said in an
- 2:33Speaker 2: amazing line, He's like I woke up Chase today and
- 2:35Speaker 2: I said, hey, like I'm gonna win this one for you,
- 2:38Speaker 2: and like this is something you're gonna remember the rest
- 2:39Speaker 2: of your life, like this is this is a moment
- 2:42Speaker 2: for you, and I'm doing this for you. And it
- 2:45Speaker 2: was just a beautiful kind of moment when he talked
- 2:47Speaker 2: about it, and he ended it with a Mista spechna
- 2:50Speaker 2: cough and then proceeded to be the drunkest guy and
- 2:52Speaker 2: the Carolina Hurricanes. But yeah, it's just an amazing thing
- 2:56Speaker 2: watching guys accomplished this two months hardest trophy to win.
- 2:59Speaker 2: And Nate, you've seen it and seen guys that have won,
- 3:03Speaker 2: and it's it's tough as a player to watch it,
- 3:07Speaker 2: but it's like it's it's amazing to really see and
- 3:10Speaker 2: understand like what these guys go through. But it's just crazy.
- 3:13Speaker 2: I mean, they're fucking what a team.
- 3:16Speaker 3: It's uh, the best way to put it, I think
- 3:19Speaker 3: as a as a former player watching not when it,
- 3:21Speaker 3: like you said, being tough, it's like it's like staring
- 3:23Speaker 3: at the sun.
- 3:24Speaker 4: You want to look at it, but you can't look
- 3:25Speaker 4: at it.
- 3:26Speaker 3: You know, it's just because you just you just have
- 3:27Speaker 3: to keep watching because it's so it's it's so special
- 3:32Speaker 3: and you know, but it's amazing to watch and like
- 3:35Speaker 3: because you were there, JD. I was watching on TV.
- 3:37Speaker 3: But the thing that like jumped out at me was
- 3:40Speaker 3: watching the guys react to Rod Brindemore and and I
- 3:44Speaker 3: think it's I don't think you see that, like obviously
- 3:46Speaker 3: guys react to coaches, but it was a different dynamic
- 3:49Speaker 3: where I don't know, you were there, you saw it.
- 3:51Speaker 3: Like it was every single guy in the team like
- 3:53Speaker 3: made a point to go give him a hug, and
- 3:55Speaker 3: they each had a conversation with them.
- 3:57Speaker 4: The way the way.
- 3:57Speaker 3: They were like taking him in and made it such
- 4:01Speaker 3: such about him, it was it was, Uh, it was
- 4:04Speaker 3: really impressive and something special that I like I've never
- 4:07Speaker 3: seen before with other teams. And you just see how
- 4:09Speaker 3: important Rod is to those guys, all right.
- 4:12Speaker 2: I mean we talked to him we talked to a
- 4:14Speaker 2: bunch of guys and every guy we asked, like, you know,
- 4:16Speaker 2: what is Rod kind of brought to this team and
- 4:18Speaker 2: to the the glowing reviews from all these guys and
- 4:23Speaker 2: saying like how much that he means to them? And
- 4:26Speaker 2: like Spashonaho was like, he means the world to me,
- 4:29Speaker 2: Like the conversations we've had, the mentor he's been. You
- 4:33Speaker 2: know Martinook as well, you know Brendan Bussy talking about
- 4:36Speaker 2: how it's just amazing when a coach can thread that
- 4:42Speaker 2: needle of being like because he is a guy that
- 4:44Speaker 2: demands so much, but yet guys do it willingly and
- 4:48Speaker 2: love him so much, and you know, it's pretty rare
- 4:51Speaker 2: for a team to stick with a coach. It hasn't
- 4:53Speaker 2: won for this long and like have hasn't had playoff success,
- 4:57Speaker 2: but you could just see like as a human and
- 4:59Speaker 2: what a fucking body on this guy. Literally he took
- 5:03Speaker 2: his shirt off. I was like, I was like, I
- 5:05Speaker 2: gotta get back in the gym. I'm like, I can't
- 5:07Speaker 2: let some like fifty something year old look like this
- 5:09Speaker 2: and I'm just you know, eating cheetos on my bed
- 5:13Speaker 2: and Eminem's at two thirty in the morning after come
- 5:15Speaker 2: back from omnia and just being like ugh, and this
- 5:18Speaker 2: guy like.
- 5:19Speaker 1: To Thomas SICKI Rod Brittemore six percent body fat because
- 5:21Speaker 1: if you said to me, punch in the face, I
- 5:23Speaker 1: think it's like it's two.
- 5:26Speaker 2: And a half. If it's insane, he's fucked Greek god chiseled.
- 5:30Speaker 2: But yeah, like it's just amazing, I think. And everything
- 5:34Speaker 2: needs to line up for you to win a Cup.
- 5:35Speaker 2: I think there's a lot of luck that goes into it.
- 5:37Speaker 2: But you know what Tulsky did, like that fricking nerd,
- 5:42Speaker 2: absolute rain man, put together this team and like just
- 5:48Speaker 2: this perfect team that fits so well and like everything
- 5:51Speaker 2: anytime somebody kind of dropped off, somebody picked up the slack,
- 5:54Speaker 2: Anderson goes down, Bussy comes in, you know, Jankowski scores
- 5:58Speaker 2: a big goal, you know, there's an injury, you know,
- 6:01Speaker 2: Sean Walker steps up, when Slaven struggling counter. It was
- 6:04Speaker 2: it just like it was absolute domination. I mean three losses,
- 6:08Speaker 2: that's so impressive and so incredible by this team in
- 6:13Speaker 2: this in the Stanley Cup run and one of the
- 6:15Speaker 2: best easiest you could say they had an easy run,
- 6:19Speaker 2: but I mean they they took care of business.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Man, especially in Game six. I mean it was amazing
- 6:25Speaker 1: at the second intermission when Steve Levy was just beside himself,
- 6:28Speaker 1: like they can't even get a shot. It's been like
- 6:29Speaker 1: twelve minutes they haven't got a shot on goal. I mean, ultimately,
- 6:32Speaker 1: the Golden Knights twenty two shots, Busty pitches a shutout.
- 6:35Speaker 1: Stan Covin's line delivers once again. And just like JD
- 6:38Speaker 1: mentioned that, there was the historic run. So sixteen and
- 6:40Speaker 1: three through four rounds a gold differential plus twenty seven.
- 6:44Speaker 1: That's the fewest losses in a Cup run since Colorado
- 6:46Speaker 1: went sixteen and four and twenty twenty two. This is
- 6:48Speaker 1: the better stet to me. The last team to sustain
- 6:51Speaker 1: three or fewer losses on the way to a Cup
- 6:53Speaker 1: run the Oilers sixteen to two and eighty eight. So
- 6:56Speaker 1: this is a true juggernaut we saw here, Nate Overall,
- 6:58Speaker 1: you lose game on the conference father in the Montreal
- 7:00Speaker 1: six to two. Then they won four straight. They lost
- 7:03Speaker 1: Game three, double over ten to fall behind two one.
- 7:05Speaker 1: That's the point me and tow were feeling good. We
- 7:07Speaker 1: both called Vegas to win the series. You both called
- 7:09Speaker 1: knes and six. They come back from that one, you know,
- 7:12Speaker 1: obviously important loss and it get your down two one
- 7:15Speaker 1: we did with three straight wins. This Carolina run that
- 7:17Speaker 1: you look back and say, Okay, this wasn't just a strong,
- 7:19Speaker 1: concerned effort. This is one of the great teams we've
- 7:21Speaker 1: seen in hockey history in terms of a sustained playoff run.
- 7:25Speaker 3: It has to be one of the most dominant performance performances,
- 7:28Speaker 3: I think in the whole playoffs, just from start to finish.
- 7:31Speaker 3: And I think the thing that is so impressive about
- 7:33Speaker 3: this team is their resolve, Like after they would lose
- 7:36Speaker 3: a game, it would be they would find another level.
- 7:39Speaker 3: And we saw this even in this in the Stanley
- 7:42Speaker 3: Cup finals. You know, we saw it in all the
- 7:43Speaker 3: other series, but especially in the finals where we didn't
- 7:46Speaker 3: really know what was going on. The first four games
- 7:49Speaker 3: we really didn't. We were kind of like, who's going
- 7:51Speaker 3: to step up here, Who's going to come to the forefront.
- 7:53Speaker 3: And you could just see Carolina like they knew just
- 7:57Speaker 3: how confident they were, and they knew they weren't playing
- 7:59Speaker 3: their game. And then game five it clicked and I
- 8:02Speaker 3: think obviously we have to go back. I mean, I
- 8:03Speaker 3: think it's easy to say that, you know, there's a
- 8:06Speaker 3: few different reasons, but I mean with the way Brandon
- 8:09Speaker 3: Bussy played and he came he comes back, JD and
- 8:12Speaker 3: uh in that game four and and it just that
- 8:15Speaker 3: was it, Like it was a different team and they clicked,
- 8:18Speaker 3: and they went back home and put on an absolute
- 8:20Speaker 3: you know, a clinic in game five, and then did
- 8:22Speaker 3: the exact same thing in game six. Maybe more so,
- 8:25Speaker 3: We're like last night Vegas couldn't get the middle of
- 8:28Speaker 3: the ice. They couldn't they couldn't do anything. They were
- 8:31Speaker 3: one and done. I know they had chances, but to
- 8:34Speaker 3: me it was one yeah.
- 8:34Speaker 2: Late, you know they had a yea, yeah, they didn't push,
- 8:37Speaker 2: but like, I mean, no, in the was it in
- 8:39Speaker 2: the first Oh dude? In the first that Marc Andre
- 8:42Speaker 2: Fleury is saved, that Bussy makes you like a second
- 8:44Speaker 2: left on the shoulder and the one timer too after Yeah,
- 8:48Speaker 2: it's a game of inches. They had chances, you know,
- 8:50Speaker 2: Michael hits the crossbar and and I I kind of
- 8:54Speaker 2: the whole playoffs in the first couple of games of
- 8:57Speaker 2: I was like, this is a team of destiny. It's
- 8:59Speaker 2: like it just feels like it. We're kind of all like, yeah,
- 9:02Speaker 2: this is over. They just had that swag, that feeling.
- 9:06Speaker 2: I mean, do you see all the stuff coming out?
- 9:08Speaker 2: Like the trainer had the what do they call it,
- 9:11Speaker 2: the blue collar presses? Did you see that? We should
- 9:14Speaker 2: get this clip, but like it's called the blue collar presses.
- 9:17Speaker 2: He had a thirty five pounds cinderblock in the gym.
- 9:19Speaker 2: Oh I heard that was part of a workout, and
- 9:22Speaker 2: I think Rod sneakily did it because the exact way
- 9:25Speaker 2: to the cup, and they were trying to build a
- 9:29Speaker 2: mindset of like lifting the cup and it was part
- 9:31Speaker 2: of the workouts. And it's just like, you know, all
- 9:35Speaker 2: the little things that they did and were preparing and
- 9:38Speaker 2: and you know, I mentioned Tulsky, but I don't know
- 9:40Speaker 2: what you guys think, but to me, I'm like I
- 9:43Speaker 2: was thinking about it when I landed off the play,
- 9:44Speaker 2: and like it seems to really work. When you get
- 9:47Speaker 2: the analytics guy that as a GM that has like
- 9:51Speaker 2: an ex player as a head coach that understands of
- 9:55Speaker 2: the pedigree, it seems to just fit so perfectly. You know,
- 9:59Speaker 2: you have a guy that's understood, like he understands the
- 10:02Speaker 2: analytics side, and you know a coach that's willing to
- 10:05Speaker 2: kind of embrace it a little bit, but also be
- 10:06Speaker 2: like this is the way we're playing. Find me players
- 10:08Speaker 2: that are going to play this system. I don't care
- 10:10Speaker 2: what you what we pay doesn't have to be you know,
- 10:13Speaker 2: the rant and ins or the gen souls, could be
- 10:15Speaker 2: anybody and it just fits so perfectly. Like that is
- 10:19Speaker 2: such a good dynamic. And I remember, you know we
- 10:21Speaker 2: talked about Jordan Martinok. Jordan Martinok had a deal signed
- 10:24Speaker 2: in San Jose before he signed this last deal he
- 10:26Speaker 2: was signed, it was done, and Rod found out and
- 10:31Speaker 2: went into the room and told Telsky, like, pay him
- 10:33Speaker 2: the fucking money. Nice and they signed him and like
- 10:37Speaker 2: just think if he'd a left love that that was fuck.
- 10:39Speaker 2: That was it. That was probably it. And I probably
- 10:42Speaker 2: butchered the story a little bit, but I mean it's
- 10:44Speaker 2: it's in the vein of that, like he was kind
- 10:45Speaker 2: of gone, they didn't want to pay him, and Rod's like, no, like,
- 10:48Speaker 2: this guy can help us win. I don't care what
- 10:51Speaker 2: you think about analytics or the money's worth it, and
- 10:54Speaker 2: kind of took him out of that mode of playing moneyball.
- 10:57Speaker 2: And then I mean he's one of the most impactful
- 10:59Speaker 2: guys on their team on this Cup run.
- 11:00Speaker 4: He's a part of that Fab five you called it
- 11:02Speaker 4: last night. You like that. I like that.
- 11:05Speaker 1: I like it when I get a hold of JD.
- 11:12Speaker 2: But it's a good drink, drink, drink and drink NHL
- 11:15Speaker 2: for Jason Emers.
- 11:19Speaker 1: Yeah, I was gonna say from the Vegas perspective, those fellas.
- 11:23Speaker 1: I mean, I know it was a great run. Nobody
- 11:24Speaker 1: expected him to go to the Cup file especially with
- 11:26Speaker 1: this season and in Torty Ella comes and he might
- 11:27Speaker 1: come back, but losing while Bill Carlson JD. I mean,
- 11:30Speaker 1: he helped turn the Golden Knights around when he returned
- 11:32Speaker 1: to the lafter the second round series against Anaheim that
- 11:34Speaker 1: forced him to miss Game six. Obviously it's by Sean
- 11:37Speaker 1: Walker there. Vegas was flat without him in terms of
- 11:40Speaker 1: turning points in the series. I know you can be
- 11:43Speaker 1: really impressed with what Vegas did. Lee's fans thrilled that
- 11:45Speaker 1: Mitch Marner disappeared late in the series. I think Carlson
- 11:49Speaker 1: going out, Mitchie disappearing, but Brandon Bussy to me, this
- 11:52Speaker 1: guy got claimed on Waivers October fifth. Think about that.
- 11:55Speaker 1: The Panthers just didn't need him, like we have a
- 11:57Speaker 1: Broxky we're good, and they picked this guy up. He
- 11:59Speaker 1: wins thirty one games and he stepped in when they're
- 12:02Speaker 1: down two to one. I don't know which to you
- 12:03Speaker 1: and JD. Carlson going down, Mitchie or Ikeel disappearance, Bussy
- 12:08Speaker 1: get in the call. What turned the series ultimately for you?
- 12:11Speaker 2: I think Vegas was. I think Vegas is more beat up.
- 12:14Speaker 2: I think we're gonna hear some stuff coming out from
- 12:16Speaker 2: some icle. Didn't look for a lot of guys. Icle
- 12:18Speaker 2: didn't look right, you know. Carlson gets hurt, shatters his rest.
- 12:22Speaker 2: I mean, that's how good Sean Walker was. Listen. I
- 12:24Speaker 2: just think Vegas had a good team. But this Carolina
- 12:28Speaker 2: team is just just built so well, and I think
- 12:31Speaker 2: they just wear you down, wear you down, and then yeah,
- 12:33Speaker 2: you're right, Like Anderson played like shit in the start
- 12:37Speaker 2: of the series. But we kind of said heavyhead, heavy
- 12:39Speaker 2: the head that wears the crown and also heavy the
- 12:42Speaker 2: head that he had a you know, somebody close to
- 12:45Speaker 2: him pass away. And I feel like it was a
- 12:46Speaker 2: lot emotionally. They protect him and they go right to Bussy,
- 12:51Speaker 2: which I thought that was a mistake Vegas made. Was
- 12:53Speaker 2: going even though Carter Hart played good last game. I
- 12:55Speaker 2: think they should have went to Hill at one point
- 12:57Speaker 2: in the series. I think I don't know what John
- 13:00Speaker 2: Tortorella had against Aiden Hill, but guy won a cup.
- 13:02Speaker 2: He can maybe come in and give you some good minutes.
- 13:04Speaker 1: But well, that's the stupidest question I've been asked.
- 13:07Speaker 2: Oh he was stuff. Yeah, he's stuffed Johnny Lazarus in
- 13:11Speaker 2: a locker. So good, so great, But yeah, you know
- 13:16Speaker 2: it's he made He made the saves when it counted,
- 13:19Speaker 2: and I just think he again, I think we all
- 13:22Speaker 2: forgot like if Freddy went down and everybody was like, oh, Bussy,
- 13:25Speaker 2: Like what do you do with bussy? Dude, the guy
- 13:26Speaker 2: won thirty one games, like yeah, but he wasn't great
- 13:28Speaker 2: at the end of the year. I'm like, yeah, he
- 13:29Speaker 2: won thirty one games, lost six, and like, the guy
- 13:33Speaker 2: can still play so many goalies that did that, So
- 13:36Speaker 2: whether he struggled a little bit late, I mean, it's like,
- 13:41Speaker 2: I think they would have won in four if Freddy
- 13:44Speaker 2: was like kind of played half decently he played in
- 13:46Speaker 2: round one, I think they would have. They could have
- 13:48Speaker 2: swept Vegas easily. I think so. So yeah, So I
- 13:52Speaker 2: just think it's I think for Vegas. It's they had
- 13:56Speaker 2: to me. The biggest thing for Vegas wasn't necessarily and
- 14:00Speaker 2: you could touch on this to Nate, wasn't necessarily Mitch.
- 14:02Speaker 2: You know, Mitch did disappear in the last couple of games.
- 14:05Speaker 2: And I think Carolina just finds a way of figuring
- 14:07Speaker 2: teams out and Jack might have been banged up, but
- 14:10Speaker 2: their decoor of fucking Rasmus Anderson and Noah Hannafin and
- 14:15Speaker 2: I listen, it's hard to play in the NHL. Ray
- 14:18Speaker 2: Ferraro said, the biggest mistake he can make being a
- 14:21Speaker 2: broadcasters thinking the games easy and you forget about it,
- 14:25Speaker 2: but they were atrocious. Like I don't know how much
- 14:28Speaker 2: money Rasmus Anderson costs himself in that series because he
- 14:33Speaker 2: turned out what nine by seven, what's Vegas gonna do?
- 14:37Speaker 4: Now?
- 14:38Speaker 2: Yeah, he was like he's signing there.
- 14:39Speaker 4: No, he was noticeably just not good.
- 14:43Speaker 3: Yeah, And I don't know, I mean, yeah, I think
- 14:46Speaker 3: that was a big difference between the two teams, was
- 14:48Speaker 3: their decore. I mean you could see it, especially as
- 14:51Speaker 3: the series went on. And you know, to your point
- 14:54Speaker 3: about Bussy and and William Carlson, I think like William
- 14:57Speaker 3: Carlson he was kind of the glue that held those
- 15:00Speaker 3: like held the forward lines together and put everyone in
- 15:02Speaker 3: their spots. And then I honestly think it's you know,
- 15:05Speaker 3: it was more Carolina. It's more Carolina, and how good
- 15:08Speaker 3: they were and how suffocating like Jack Eichel, those guys
- 15:12Speaker 3: had nothing last night. Like every time you saw one
- 15:14Speaker 3: guy with the puck, there were two or three Carolina
- 15:16Speaker 3: guys around him, and it was a turnover and back
- 15:19Speaker 3: the other way. I mean, just as how Taylor Hall
- 15:21Speaker 3: scored his goal turnovers.
- 15:22Speaker 2: It was Jesus Christ Superstar. It was the r It
- 15:27Speaker 2: is the rate. It was the ring. What is that
- 15:29Speaker 2: the rainbow Code of Dreams or whatever. It's the name
- 15:32Speaker 2: of Jesus Christ, Superstar, Jacob's slave and with that stick,
- 15:38Speaker 2: unbelievable power compels you, The power of Christ compels you
- 15:45Speaker 2: to play defense.
- 15:46Speaker 1: Well, nobody was going to crucify what Jordan Stall was
- 15:49Speaker 1: able to do. I mean, this guy was unbelievable. With
- 15:51Speaker 1: the Finals for the ages, tying go up a tip
- 15:53Speaker 1: in during the first period of Game five, scored in
- 15:55Speaker 1: his fifth straight Finals game, tying a record held by
- 15:57Speaker 1: Yvonne Cornway. With the habs and seventy three on Bellbot
- 16:00Speaker 1: on fifty six. Maurice was shared in fifty one of
- 16:03Speaker 1: the course Nate's all time favorite cyclone Taylor the Vancouver Millionaires.
- 16:07Speaker 1: In nineteen eighteen, Jordan Stall, thirty seven, becomes the oldest
- 16:10Speaker 1: player to win the con smyth. His seventeen years being
- 16:12Speaker 1: cup wins the longest gap in NHL history. I think
- 16:15Speaker 1: it's the right call, JD because before he might have
- 16:17Speaker 1: thought was Freddie Anderson. Of course he disappeared in the
- 16:18Speaker 1: Cup final. Sankowen may have gotten a few votes, but
- 16:21Speaker 1: Stall this is an irresistible story. I mean, thirty seven
- 16:23Speaker 1: years of age, He's a hulking presence out there. He's
- 16:26Speaker 1: such a physical player, and he had the lightning touch
- 16:28Speaker 1: with the goal scoring. I mean it was incredible for
- 16:30Speaker 1: the Stall family and for Jordan specifically.
- 16:32Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a tough one when a guy gets twelve points,
- 16:34Speaker 2: though and he wins the Con. Smith. I think there's
- 16:37Speaker 2: a little bit, you know Jackson Jackson Blake led the
- 16:40Speaker 2: team in points, didn't go talked about. I mean, you
- 16:43Speaker 2: could have gave it to that second line, but I
- 16:47Speaker 2: just it was more I think what Stall did all
- 16:50Speaker 2: playoffs long of just his I mean he had I
- 16:54Speaker 2: think in the Stanley Cup finals he got the record
- 16:56Speaker 2: for the best face off percentage in the Stanley Cup
- 16:59Speaker 2: finals at sixty eight percent, and during the whole playoffs,
- 17:02Speaker 2: I think he was like sixty four percent, which is nay,
- 17:06Speaker 2: you're a face off guy like that, like generally speaking,
- 17:11Speaker 2: like fifty four to fifty five, Like you're a great
- 17:14Speaker 2: face off guy, like over sixty man, Like have you
- 17:17Speaker 2: had a year like that? And also like how fucking
- 17:19Speaker 2: difficult is that action? Because he's not just doing it
- 17:23Speaker 2: in the easy zones, he's in the D zone. When
- 17:25Speaker 2: he gets he's got to go on his wrong side too.
- 17:27Speaker 3: That's absurd for people that don't know what face off
- 17:30Speaker 3: percentage ism and and the numbers of it. But anything
- 17:34Speaker 3: over like if you're over fifty four percent, that's that's
- 17:38Speaker 3: way above average, Like that's you're getting up into top fifteen,
- 17:41Speaker 3: top twenty. If you're over sixty percent, it's.
- 17:43Speaker 4: Elite, elite, elite, elite, Like it's that's you're.
- 17:46Speaker 3: Winning almost every single face off and obviously you know
- 17:50Speaker 3: you're gonna win more on your strong side than your
- 17:51Speaker 3: off side. But yeah, what he did in the face
- 17:54Speaker 3: off circle, I mean that's that's that's crazy. I mean
- 17:56Speaker 3: you saw the company he was with it. I think
- 17:58Speaker 3: it was Eiserman and Jonathan Taze and just you know,
- 18:01Speaker 3: some big time guys. So yeah, that's that's that's on
- 18:05Speaker 3: another level. To be able to do that.
- 18:08Speaker 1: He gets seventeen to twenty one conspt votes, Haul got
- 18:11Speaker 1: the other four fifty six point eight percent of face
- 18:13Speaker 1: offs for Stall in the playoffs, So remarkable work from
- 18:16Speaker 1: him from start to finish. Again, we talked about Brinda Moore.
- 18:19Speaker 2: It was fifty eight, you said fifty eight point four.
- 18:22Speaker 1: Tallas is fifty six point eight.
- 18:23Speaker 2: Yeah, and then it was sixty sixty eight in the
- 18:25Speaker 2: finals finals. Yeah, but that's still like over close to sixty.
- 18:30Speaker 2: It's it's astronomical.
- 18:32Speaker 3: The highest I ever finished during the regular season I
- 18:34Speaker 3: think was fifty five or fifty six. In the playoffs,
- 18:37Speaker 3: I think one year I had finished over sixty. But like,
- 18:40Speaker 3: that's that's incredible what he did. I think I was
- 18:43Speaker 3: right around sixty, but to do sixty eight is.
- 18:46Speaker 2: Like in the finals, yeah, and then score and then
- 18:50Speaker 2: shut down the top line.
- 18:51Speaker 3: And on top and to his credit, like Vegas is
- 18:53Speaker 3: not a bad face off team, like Nick Jacket, all
- 18:56Speaker 3: those guys are good face off guys, and he cleaned
- 18:59Speaker 3: them up. So just puts in perspective.
- 19:02Speaker 1: One more thought and the Hurricanes will move on. So
- 19:04Speaker 1: flowers at Taylor Hall Andnate becomes the sixth player in
- 19:07Speaker 1: hockey history back to first overall, win's the Heart Trophy,
- 19:10Speaker 1: wins the Cup. The others are Gela Flurr, Mario Lemieux,
- 19:14Speaker 1: Patrick Kane, Alex Ovechen, and Sidney Crosby. Remarkable at Taylor
- 19:18Speaker 1: Hall at this stage of his career, who's had lots
- 19:20Speaker 1: of ups and downs. Unlike those other players. Those guy's
- 19:22Speaker 1: been pretty consistent. Taylor Hall was getting smacked around and salted,
- 19:25Speaker 1: washed up, et cetera. Now he's back hell of a resume.
- 19:28Speaker 3: It's really impressive because of over the last you could say,
- 19:32Speaker 3: five to ten years, of how much Taylor Hall has
- 19:34Speaker 3: changed his game and evolved, and how he played during
- 19:38Speaker 3: the playoffs. Like I was listening to I think you
- 19:40Speaker 3: heard this JD. Trip Tracey compared him to almost Sam
- 19:44Speaker 3: Bennett a little bit of how he was playing and
- 19:47Speaker 3: how physically he was. It might be a little bit
- 19:49Speaker 3: extreme comparison, but he did. He had shades of that.
- 19:53Speaker 3: The way he was physical, just just that second line.
- 19:56Speaker 3: I mean how well they played together. But I think
- 19:58Speaker 3: Taylor Hall, I mean just how much he's evolved and
- 20:00Speaker 3: what you think of him when he won MVP with
- 20:03Speaker 3: New Jersey and then what he is now. I mean
- 20:05Speaker 3: to me, like I look at him and watch him play,
- 20:07Speaker 3: He's a complete hockey player now. I mean he's just
- 20:09Speaker 3: and he fits perfect in that system. And man, good
- 20:13Speaker 3: for him, Jady, this is it's great to see Taylor
- 20:16Speaker 3: Hall have this much success.
- 20:18Speaker 2: Do you throw? Is he? Is he a candidate with this?
- 20:21Speaker 2: You know, we had a conversation and a debate about this.
- 20:23Speaker 2: Is he in the Hall of Fame with this m
- 20:28Speaker 2: But no, he might be the first guy that gets
- 20:30Speaker 2: this and doesn't go in the Hall of Fame.
- 20:31Speaker 1: I don't think it's a Hall of Famer yet personally, but like.
- 20:33Speaker 2: He doesn't have much. You know, he's a couple of
- 20:35Speaker 2: two three years left right, It's just compossible. But you
- 20:38Speaker 2: know what I mean, isn't that crazy? Like, listen, name
- 20:41Speaker 2: those names that you just named for that have the
- 20:43Speaker 2: same feet as him.
- 20:45Speaker 1: It's pretty amazing. When you go Gila Floor, Mario Lemu,
- 20:47Speaker 1: Patrick Kane, Alex Ovechkin, Sydney Crosby all no doubt hall
- 20:50Speaker 1: of famers.
- 20:51Speaker 2: You maybe isn't that crazy to have that, to have
- 20:55Speaker 2: those feats and and not be probably not be considered.
- 21:00Speaker 3: He's been on too tops.
- 21:03Speaker 1: Two World championships if you want that as well.
- 21:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, listen, you put Shaye Weber in the
- 21:07Speaker 2: Hall of Fame. Fuck this point, all right, I can't
- 21:10Speaker 2: be in the Hall of Fame if Weber.
- 21:12Speaker 4: You don't like that.
- 21:14Speaker 1: How about Brinda Moore as a Hall of Famer one
- 21:17Speaker 1: and eighty four points a Cup as a player to Selkies,
- 21:19Speaker 1: three hundred and seventy eight wins as a coach, Jack
- 21:21Speaker 1: Adams a in a Stanley Cup.
- 21:23Speaker 2: He's gonna I think he's gonna get He's gonna get
- 21:26Speaker 2: in by being a coach. He's gonna get in as
- 21:28Speaker 2: a coach, which I think's gonna be. No, I don't
- 21:31Speaker 2: think he's I don't think he's in as a player, No,
- 21:35Speaker 2: I don't. I don't think so. I think he's a
- 21:36Speaker 2: great player. I don't think he goes in as a player,
- 21:38Speaker 2: but I think as a coach he gets in. This
- 21:40Speaker 2: is gonna put him.
- 21:40Speaker 1: In, so far he'll go to the eight more seasons
- 21:42Speaker 1: for that.
- 21:43Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean he's gonna coach forever. Yeah, because again,
- 21:46Speaker 2: if he gets every cann from there, he's picked up
- 21:48Speaker 2: in half a second.
- 21:50Speaker 4: Yeah, I could get both player and coach.
- 21:53Speaker 2: Could be doubled up double debt, double dutch, double dip,
- 21:58Speaker 2: all right before we.
- 21:58Speaker 1: Come back here, double NHL script. Hello nurse, you can't
- 22:05Speaker 1: fire me? I quit? What's Darnell Nurse thinking in Edmonton?
- 22:08Speaker 1: Plus sackic backs his avs and a season recap when
- 22:10Speaker 1: we come back in a seas fifty Hello nurse from
- 22:33Speaker 1: the you can't fire me? I quit? Files word at
- 22:35Speaker 1: Edmonton's defenseman, Darnel Nurses requested Tree. After twelve years of
- 22:38Speaker 1: the Oilers, Edmontons are probably trying to get out of Nurses.
- 22:41Speaker 1: Wait for it, nine point twenty five million dollar a
- 22:44Speaker 1: year contract practices the moment he's signed in twenty twenty one,
- 22:47Speaker 1: coming off the hils of Dylan Larkin trade demand where
- 22:49Speaker 1: the Edmonton could named Mike Babcock their next head coach.
- 22:53Speaker 1: Nurse asking out four years left in his contract, JD
- 22:55Speaker 1: A lot to digest your first and foremost. The number
- 22:58Speaker 1: is huge. I mean you're not gonna get value back
- 23:00Speaker 1: if you're Edmonton. But Thomas Heiki made the point to
- 23:02Speaker 1: me on NHL tonight on the off day. He goes,
- 23:05Speaker 1: imagine if you look at it like Seth Jones, we
- 23:07Speaker 1: love Jonesy by the way, Gustar NHL scripted, like, he's
- 23:09Speaker 1: not worth that salary, but you can still go and
- 23:11Speaker 1: be an effective second pair defenseman. So team trading for
- 23:14Speaker 1: Darnell and Nurse, you gotta get in your head. You're
- 23:16Speaker 1: not getting nine point two five million years. It's not
- 23:18Speaker 1: good value. But can you still get a guy who
- 23:20Speaker 1: can be effective defenseman? Yeah, but Edmondton, there is no
- 23:23Speaker 1: compulsion to trade him right away. Like you're not gonna
- 23:25Speaker 1: bend me over and make me trade your buddy. You
- 23:27Speaker 1: got four years, nine point twenty five. We're gonna need
- 23:28Speaker 1: to get some money back and to get some prospects.
- 23:30Speaker 1: How do you handle this if you're the Oilers and
- 23:33Speaker 1: you think Nurses said, you know what, I know you
- 23:34Speaker 1: guys want to get ready to anyways, I'll get up
- 23:36Speaker 1: before you ship me out.
- 23:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean not to mention what he only gave
- 23:40Speaker 2: like two teams too, right, you gave like Penguins and
- 23:45Speaker 2: La imagine him back with Cody CC and Kenny Holland
- 23:51Speaker 2: A listen, Darnell Darnell. The issue with Darnell is always
- 23:56Speaker 2: just the money. Like right, I like Darnell at Jake
- 23:59Speaker 2: Wallman's contract. I don't like Jake Wallman at Jake Wallman's contract.
- 24:03Speaker 2: So there's a lot more trouble than people think. And
- 24:05Speaker 2: I listen, I like Jake woman as a player, and
- 24:07Speaker 2: again I'm all for players getting paid. I want them
- 24:11Speaker 2: to absolutely bend over teams and take them to the
- 24:15Speaker 2: woodshed day in and day out, because it's just the
- 24:18Speaker 2: way I'm a player. But objectively looking at it and
- 24:22Speaker 2: speaking from the analyst perspective at seven million, I think
- 24:26Speaker 2: Darnold's a good defenseman to have on your team. I
- 24:29Speaker 2: think he's good. I think it's it's not like that's
- 24:31Speaker 2: it's the issues is he's making nine point twenty five,
- 24:34Speaker 2: nine point three, So I think a team's going to
- 24:36Speaker 2: take a shot on him if there's retention, and I
- 24:38Speaker 2: would spend. I would give a pick and maybe a
- 24:41Speaker 2: prospect to get, especially if Darnette, like I'm I was
- 24:44Speaker 2: looking at the Sharks. I think the Sharks would be
- 24:46Speaker 2: a perfect fit for him.
- 24:47Speaker 1: Nice, do you think you've got to beep up their defense.
- 24:49Speaker 2: You get a veteran guy, veteran guy, but I don't
- 24:52Speaker 2: know if he wants to go there. Pitt. You know,
- 24:54Speaker 2: you look at Pitt with Philly. Philly's another one. Like
- 24:58Speaker 2: there's a lot of teams. I think that would do
- 25:00Speaker 2: really good with him at the right number. So I
- 25:03Speaker 2: think I think both parties are in a good position. Now,
- 25:08Speaker 2: can Stan Bauman just not trip over his dick and
- 25:11Speaker 2: make a good trade?
- 25:13Speaker 1: What well, he's gonna get more than two teams from Darnel.
- 25:16Speaker 4: You need to get more teams.
- 25:17Speaker 1: You can't demand the trade and I'll go to these
- 25:18Speaker 1: two places.
- 25:19Speaker 2: Like, no, dude, I love that. But the power of
- 25:22Speaker 2: the NHL.
- 25:22Speaker 5: Edton's fault too though, Oh you're right, it is Edmonton's fault.
- 25:26Speaker 1: You give him the contract.
- 25:27Speaker 2: I mean, he had been a huge year that year
- 25:28Speaker 2: and they were stuck. They had to pay him.
- 25:32Speaker 1: Meantime, after having a GM Chris pick Felm poached by Nashville,
- 25:35Speaker 1: Colorado President acting general maner Joe sacking at his end
- 25:37Speaker 1: ofca's and media availability the other day made it clear
- 25:39Speaker 1: no plans to shake up the roster. Following their disappointing
- 25:42Speaker 1: conference final swoop the hands of the Vegas Golden Knights. Sakic said,
- 25:45Speaker 1: this team, what they've done over the course of the
- 25:46Speaker 1: year was pretty remarkable, and I want to give them
- 25:48Speaker 1: opportunity to try and do it again. Sakic made it
- 25:50Speaker 1: clear Jared Bednoll would be back. The roster will remain intact.
- 25:54Speaker 1: Remember they acquired Dawson Cadriy, bry Kolac, Nicholas One, Nick
- 25:57Speaker 1: Blackenberg similar to do Kulak Blackenberg, Brent Burns All entering
- 26:01Speaker 1: unrestricted free agency. Jack Drury becomes a restricted free agent.
- 26:04Speaker 1: What would you do, Nat, if you're Joe Sakic makes
- 26:06Speaker 1: sense to kind of stan pat so to speak, bednarse
- 26:08Speaker 1: days and you try to resign those guys, who'ld you
- 26:10Speaker 1: make some other moves?
- 26:12Speaker 3: No, I'm listening to Joe Sakkik. The last time Joe
- 26:14Speaker 3: Sackeck was the GM, they won. So I think you
- 26:18Speaker 3: look at their team and I would agree with that.
- 26:20Speaker 3: I mean, it's if they can bring back pretty much
- 26:24Speaker 3: close to the same team, it's going to serve them well.
- 26:27Speaker 3: And uh, you know, we talked about it a lot
- 26:29Speaker 3: of the playoffs, and you know they obviously they have
- 26:32Speaker 3: tough matchup being in the division they're in, but a
- 26:34Speaker 3: lot of playoffs is a little bit of luck and
- 26:36Speaker 3: a little bit of uh, staying healthy. And I think
- 26:39Speaker 3: part of, you know, part of them losing was you know,
- 26:42Speaker 3: some big injuries and some guys being hurt, you know,
- 26:44Speaker 3: notice noticeably Cale mccarr the biggest one. But I would
- 26:48Speaker 3: run it back. I think that this team is still
- 26:50Speaker 3: primed to win. They're still in the window and they
- 26:52Speaker 3: have all the guys to do it with with what
- 26:54Speaker 3: with what they did.
- 26:56Speaker 2: Yeah, don't don't get too horny and think you need
- 26:59Speaker 2: to change everything. And I would go back to Dallas.
- 27:02Speaker 2: We lost in Game seven to Saint Louis, uh, and
- 27:07Speaker 2: they just kind of got rid of a lot of
- 27:10Speaker 2: got rid of a lot of us, started retooling. I
- 27:12Speaker 2: love Jim Nill, but uh, you know, I think, and
- 27:17Speaker 2: I probably say, it's just because I wanted to stay
- 27:19Speaker 2: and they didn't and they didn't want me back. But
- 27:23Speaker 2: I think if they wouldn't have changed too much that year,
- 27:26Speaker 2: we could have made another run on it, because that
- 27:28Speaker 2: was like the year you know, Jamie won the Art
- 27:31Speaker 2: Ross and second was injured in that playoffs, and if
- 27:34Speaker 2: we had seconds in that series, we would have probably
- 27:37Speaker 2: beat taken care of Saint Louis and then been on
- 27:40Speaker 2: and off to the races. So for me, I sometimes
- 27:42Speaker 2: overtweaking can hurt it, just like Nate said. So it's
- 27:45Speaker 2: like just relaxed, they calm, Maybe beef up the bottom
- 27:49Speaker 2: two lines, Ross Colton, trade him out of there, try
- 27:51Speaker 2: to get something a couple of pieces. Maybe maybe ask
- 27:55Speaker 2: Brent Burns if he's willing to come out of the
- 27:58Speaker 2: farmland and play one more year maybe, which I think
- 28:01Speaker 2: Ray Borke did lift the Cup his second year and
- 28:04Speaker 2: called I don't know his first good point.
- 28:06Speaker 1: You don't forget that like that, Roy porg I'm glad
- 28:08Speaker 1: you mentioned Burnsy JD because that gets us to our
- 28:10Speaker 1: season recap. As far as the highlights of the season.
- 28:12Speaker 1: Nate can take the US beating.
- 28:13Speaker 2: Campas segue and then you know, I do good segues
- 28:16Speaker 2: for you, very good segway.
- 28:17Speaker 1: Burnsy playing in his one thousandth career game, I mean,
- 28:19Speaker 1: pretty remarkable one thousandth game. John Tara Course replacing Bruce
- 28:23Speaker 1: Casti Kane again for the Americans like Nate one thousand,
- 28:26Speaker 1: three hundred and seventy fifth career point passing Mike Madonna
- 28:28Speaker 1: most points been an American player. But to me, the highlight,
- 28:30Speaker 1: of course is the Buffalo Sabers. I mean, fourteen win
- 28:33Speaker 1: and thirty point improvement, finishing first the Atlantic, first playoffs
- 28:37Speaker 1: series in nineteen years. That to me was the highlight
- 28:39Speaker 1: of the season. JD. For you, what do you got Ovechkin, Schaeffer, Kane.
- 28:44Speaker 2: Highlight of the season excluding playoffs.
- 28:46Speaker 1: Yeah, when someone says you, hey, what are you most
- 28:48Speaker 1: thinking about the season, I'm gonna say, Man, those Buffalo Sabers.
- 28:50Speaker 1: That was an awesome story.
- 28:51Speaker 2: Yeah, the Buffalo run was pretty incredible. I think with
- 28:54Speaker 2: everything that happened with Ras Mustalin and his fiance and
- 28:58Speaker 2: for you it might be.
- 28:59Speaker 1: Celebrini, me mcattack just his coming up party.
- 29:04Speaker 2: Well you just you want to pick for me or
- 29:07Speaker 2: I'm just throwing it up.
- 29:07Speaker 4: You can.
- 29:10Speaker 2: Tal wants Montreal ting, Nate wants Little Carlson the Ducks
- 29:15Speaker 2: or or or something in the Kings.
- 29:19Speaker 1: Became Ate us beating Canada.
- 29:21Speaker 2: Okay, you got us beeding Canada? Okay? Perfect segments done, onto.
- 29:24Speaker 1: The all right, from looking back to looking for.
- 29:30Speaker 2: Can I take Buffalo?
- 29:32Speaker 1: Sure?
- 29:33Speaker 2: The Buffalo?
- 29:34Speaker 1: No, you can talk about Dolan because that's a great
- 29:36Speaker 1: human interesting.
- 29:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I love that. Just that story with Dolly and
- 29:39Speaker 2: his fiance and fighting that that just incredible battle that
- 29:43Speaker 2: she fought, and then him dealing with that being the
- 29:45Speaker 2: captain rallying the troops, and I mean just the city
- 29:50Speaker 2: of Buffalo absolutely elated to be back in the playoffs
- 29:53Speaker 2: and went around stuff for him. Your bar, Bill tavern.
- 29:57Speaker 1: There you go.
- 29:58Speaker 2: God, I love that place.
- 30:00Speaker 1: Nate again for USA hockey forty six year Olympic drought.
- 30:02Speaker 1: Fans will never forget that in America.
- 30:05Speaker 4: Yeah, pretty pretty crazy.
- 30:07Speaker 3: Look back on it now and see that, uh, you know,
- 30:10Speaker 3: the men and women win gold and the way they
- 30:13Speaker 3: did it.
- 30:13Speaker 4: I know it was tough. I don't want to keep
- 30:14Speaker 4: going into it. We don't have to keep bringing it up.
- 30:16Speaker 4: But yeah, it was.
- 30:17Speaker 3: It was awesome and I and I would give honorable mention.
- 30:19Speaker 3: I'd give honorable mention to Montreal to I think that was.
- 30:22Speaker 3: That was a nice storyteller, and that was it was
- 30:24Speaker 3: fun to watch and it was fun to go there
- 30:25Speaker 3: to watch the games too, So that was I'd say
- 30:28Speaker 3: that was a highlight for sure.
- 30:29Speaker 4: To rehab.
- 30:30Speaker 1: Nate knows he's paying respect, all right, from looking back
- 30:32Speaker 1: looking forward summertime storylines to look forward to Leave's gonna
- 30:36Speaker 1: hire a head coach they got the first pick, could
- 30:38Speaker 1: be McKenna, core making some other moves. Oilers could be
- 30:41Speaker 1: hiring Mike Babcock and trading Darnell Nurse.
- 30:43Speaker 2: Well, do you see the news came out?
- 30:45Speaker 1: What's that Babcock?
- 30:46Speaker 2: Now they're officially starting the investigation.
- 30:49Speaker 1: I don't think it's going to happen.
- 30:51Speaker 2: No, they're doing it Elliott. Elliott just announced it.
- 30:53Speaker 1: But I'm saying the NHLP is going to dig into
- 30:55Speaker 1: more stuff and listen, we have more reason why Babcock
- 30:57Speaker 1: should not be hired, and once that other stuff gets out,
- 30:59Speaker 1: they'll try to sway the oilers.
- 31:01Speaker 4: I'm with Avy on that one. Toot.
- 31:02Speaker 2: What do you think? What do you think comes up
- 31:04Speaker 2: like he was?
- 31:06Speaker 1: The stories you would begin an investigation was he was he.
- 31:09Speaker 2: Was lurking outside? What was he like, lurking outside the
- 31:11Speaker 2: showers or something? What do you think it is?
- 31:13Speaker 1: The nhl PA is a strong for am organization. If
- 31:16Speaker 1: guys went publicly and privately and said, listen, this is
- 31:18Speaker 1: what happened, he shouldn't be coaching. Eventually that work's going
- 31:20Speaker 1: to get out.
- 31:21Speaker 2: No, I know, but I'm like her.
- 31:23Speaker 1: Had they told the Olways say hey, look hell for
- 31:25Speaker 1: the Baptists are a guy, They go, okay, well, here's
- 31:27Speaker 1: what happened. Here's what we got on it.
- 31:28Speaker 2: Here's what happened. Is it worth it? Is it that worth? It?
- 31:35Speaker 1: Is worth it?
- 31:36Speaker 3: Like like that much of an investigation just to get
- 31:39Speaker 3: your head coach hired.
- 31:41Speaker 2: I heard I heard something that I cannot say because
- 31:45Speaker 2: we've betrayed the trust is somebody, but it's it's if
- 31:50Speaker 2: it does come out, it's pretty crazy, like how this,
- 31:54Speaker 2: how they how they wanted, like how they pursued Babcock
- 31:57Speaker 2: and why they pursued him. It's pretty wild. We can't
- 32:02Speaker 2: say it.
- 32:03Speaker 1: That's fine.
- 32:03Speaker 6: I'll give you three leaving climax ah.
- 32:08Speaker 2: It is called the tantric massage of Insiders.
- 32:11Speaker 1: That's JD on the verge of climaxing. That's kind of
- 32:15Speaker 1: the Red Wings. No playoff appearances since twenty sixteen, no
- 32:17Speaker 1: playoff series wins since twenty thirteen, and their captain once out.
- 32:21Speaker 1: The Jets went from President's Trophy to out of the playoffs,
- 32:23Speaker 1: and the Florida Panthers are expected to bounce back from
- 32:26Speaker 1: a disappointing season. Which of those three teams you're most
- 32:28Speaker 1: excited about focusing on this summer? Red Wings, Jets are
- 32:32Speaker 1: the Panthers. We're gonna go and try and get Dylan Larkin.
- 32:35Speaker 2: Well, I think Vegas ends up getting I think I'm
- 32:38Speaker 2: just gonna go back to Vegas. You know, Nate said, listen,
- 32:42Speaker 2: things need to fall into place this team. I think
- 32:45Speaker 2: they're gonna go get like two big pieces this summer.
- 32:48Speaker 2: I wouldn't be surprised. Connor Hollybuckets moved. I think Dylan
- 32:51Speaker 2: Larkin maybe goes to Vegas.
- 32:53Speaker 4: Damn.
- 32:54Speaker 2: I think I think we're gonna be in for crazy,
- 32:56Speaker 2: crazy summer. There's a couple of big names.
- 32:58Speaker 1: Do you think hell abut to Vegas?
- 33:01Speaker 2: I heard Floyd. I mean I think maybe.
- 33:03Speaker 1: Florida out thirty seven, see.
- 33:05Speaker 2: You, Bob out goes sign somewhere else, or if they resigned,
- 33:09Speaker 2: Bob Vegas goes and gets them too. I wouldn't be
- 33:12Speaker 2: surprised Vegas gets them. You don't need to you get
- 33:15Speaker 2: rid of hurdle, you don't. You don't resign. You trade
- 33:17Speaker 2: Doria to you trade Doria and Heart Well, you probably
- 33:22Speaker 2: can't trade hard to Winnipeg. You got probably gotta keep
- 33:24Speaker 2: them out of Canada coming.
- 33:26Speaker 3: Back, Right's yeah, because Carlson's probably not coming back.
- 33:30Speaker 4: Right, So there you go, there's Larkin.
- 33:32Speaker 2: In market, right fucking it's crazy, man, Like I that
- 33:36Speaker 2: I can say. I heard inside the Kremlin. I heard
- 33:39Speaker 2: there's gonna be a push for a couple of big names.
- 33:43Speaker 1: Why would the Jets trade.
- 33:44Speaker 2: Hellibuck because he wants out out?
- 33:48Speaker 1: But just just listen, you're stuck in a peck portage
- 33:52Speaker 1: in Maine. You deal with it.
- 33:53Speaker 2: I'm with I'm with you, like I'm waiting for a
- 33:56Speaker 2: GM like there's no move stuffs really becoming an issue,
- 33:59Speaker 2: I think for teams, and I'm just waiting for like
- 34:02Speaker 2: like Stevie Whider bringing Dylan Larkin be like, hey, buddy,
- 34:05Speaker 2: we'll see a training camp and if you don't want
- 34:07Speaker 2: to come to training camp, go sit at home. You
- 34:09Speaker 2: ain't getting traded, Bud.
- 34:11Speaker 1: I'm saying that's possible, Like, if I can find it,
- 34:14Speaker 1: I'll do it. But I'm not going to be hamstrung
- 34:16Speaker 1: by a player who wants to.
- 34:17Speaker 2: Leave no shovel day off. Might just walk in and
- 34:20Speaker 2: be like, hey, hell a buck, put on your goddamn
- 34:22Speaker 2: pads you're going out there.
- 34:25Speaker 4: They're not rumors about Stevie Whye how he negotiates. He's stubborn. Man,
- 34:29Speaker 4: If I negotiated contracts with the guy, he's he's not
- 34:33Speaker 4: going to blink. He's not going to blink first. I
- 34:34Speaker 4: don't think so.
- 34:35Speaker 3: Yeah, that's that's a possibility, Judy. I could totally see
- 34:38Speaker 3: him being like, all right, Dylan, you're you're staying home
- 34:41Speaker 3: this year.
- 34:42Speaker 2: And you're not the scene anymore, but you'll be on
- 34:45Speaker 2: the third line. You'll get fifteen minutes a night. Just
- 34:49Speaker 2: destroy your career.
- 34:53Speaker 1: I'm just gonna say, Nate, imagine like you want to
- 34:55Speaker 1: humiliate me, i'llhumiliate you. You can play the team and
- 34:57Speaker 1: I'm taking away the sea. How do you feel about that?
- 34:59Speaker 2: Suck it and play and you don't want to play,
- 35:01Speaker 2: sit in the stands. That's what That's what they should
- 35:04Speaker 2: did with Willy Nielander. That's the Willy Nielanders started it.
- 35:09Speaker 2: Not to listen. You pay the players. I love the
- 35:11Speaker 2: players getting paid. But if I was a GM and
- 35:12Speaker 2: Willi Knelander that year he sat out, great, see you
- 35:16Speaker 2: next year.
- 35:18Speaker 1: You're flipping off cameras. You showed up with a wife beater,
- 35:20Speaker 1: you're going to banks.
- 35:21Speaker 2: Then no, but when he sat out for his contract,
- 35:24Speaker 2: when he held out stay home.
- 35:28Speaker 3: Speaking of Toronto, Yeah, if what does my like that's
- 35:32Speaker 3: another team? Is Montreal revisit the trade that they wanted
- 35:36Speaker 3: to make or did make at the deadline, Like I mean,
- 35:41Speaker 3: it's another team that I wonder. Like they're gonna make
- 35:45Speaker 3: moves too, Like they're gonna make a move too. Yeah,
- 35:46Speaker 3: they always do that.
- 35:47Speaker 4: Yeah, they're gonna make a move.
- 35:48Speaker 2: Yeah, Chik is gonna have his hands full for sure.
- 35:52Speaker 2: It's gonna be an interesting summer. I'm excited, Michelle.
- 35:55Speaker 1: And of course we'll be hearing NHL scripted. We'll take
- 35:57Speaker 1: a hiatus at some point, but we'll still have lots
- 35:59Speaker 1: of episodes leading up to a course ve agency and
- 36:01Speaker 1: the NHL Draft, which will be in Buffalo. Time for
- 36:04Speaker 1: one more Breaker and Angellan script and we come back,
- 36:06Speaker 1: we'll talk about Award season as le om Nikita, not
- 36:09Speaker 1: lefem Nikida, wins the MVP. That's up next Cinepoud sixty.
- 36:22Speaker 1: Spider Man Noir JD will take over Cinephon sixty. By
- 36:24Speaker 1: the way, on Thursday of the review of the New
- 36:26Speaker 1: he Man movie, Masters of the Universe. But for all
- 36:28Speaker 1: those fans of black and white cinema, you'll appreciate Spider
- 36:31Speaker 1: Man Noir eight part series currently on Amazon Prime. Sorry,
- 36:34Speaker 1: Nicholas Cage as a hard bitten detective, very much in
- 36:37Speaker 1: the style of a Humphrey Bogert, matter of fact Cage.
- 36:39Speaker 1: So the reason why I did this show because he's
- 36:41Speaker 1: hoping this will be a gateway drug for fans to
- 36:43Speaker 1: go watch a bunch of Humphrey Bogert film noirs. It's
- 36:46Speaker 1: an interesting master for those that saw the Spider Man
- 36:48Speaker 1: into the Spider Verse. Remember thinking of all the multiple
- 36:50Speaker 1: Spider Man's this was the most interesting one. Nicholas Cage
- 36:52Speaker 1: black and white, very cool. Amazon Prime, by the way,
- 36:54Speaker 1: gives you the option of watching it in black away
- 36:56Speaker 1: or color. Color is so bastardized. Of course I watched
- 36:59Speaker 1: it in black and white and forced my children to
- 37:00Speaker 1: do this was.
- 37:00Speaker 2: You're a fucking purist.
- 37:02Speaker 1: You gotta kind of watch him black and white. Here,
- 37:05Speaker 1: you're gonna have a Fedora trench coat.
- 37:08Speaker 4: Exactly.
- 37:08Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, But I really enjoyed it as a guy
- 37:12Speaker 1: who just particularly enjoyed superhero material. I enjoyed the fact
- 37:16Speaker 1: that it through the prism of a film noir style
- 37:18Speaker 1: cage is always entertaining. He's a little old, I will
- 37:21Speaker 1: say sixty two now. Sometimes he's not a spry is
- 37:23Speaker 1: Peter Parker here as you might expect, but definitely entertaining.
- 37:26Speaker 1: Some good action sequences and one absolutely crazy sequence in
- 37:29Speaker 1: episode six. I don't want to spoil it for anybody,
- 37:31Speaker 1: but he has this crazy nightmare which I'm not sure
- 37:33Speaker 1: if it was appropriatenessary for the children, but with a
- 37:35Speaker 1: lot of spiders and we'll tough to get out of
- 37:36Speaker 1: my brain. Now, there's also a connection you have to
- 37:39Speaker 1: spider now war. I believe your friend's mom is in
- 37:41Speaker 1: the show.
- 37:43Speaker 6: It's a loose connection. My son's friend's mom is an
- 37:46Speaker 6: actress and she's in it. So and I'm good friends
- 37:48Speaker 6: with with her husband, who's a really nice guy, my
- 37:51Speaker 6: buddy George.
- 37:51Speaker 2: So I will check that out. That's just just life
- 37:54Speaker 2: in West Hollywood.
- 37:55Speaker 6: You will turn on the TV and like you know,
- 37:57Speaker 6: you're freaking dog Walkers starring in some show.
- 38:00Speaker 2: All of a sudden, you know, who.
- 38:01Speaker 1: Is George's wife's character in the show. But was there
- 38:03Speaker 1: a problem?
- 38:03Speaker 2: I'm not sure.
- 38:04Speaker 6: I think she's the main love interest. I haven't watched it.
- 38:06Speaker 6: I I've only heard this second hand. But he did
- 38:09Speaker 6: mention that she had been like on location, like she'll
- 38:13Speaker 6: go away. She's in Canada a lot shooting stuff, so
- 38:15Speaker 6: we'll talk about being in Canada and stuff like that.
- 38:18Speaker 6: So I don't know much about it. I know that
- 38:21Speaker 6: Nicholas Cage did the voice of like the original Spider
- 38:24Speaker 6: Noir in the Yeah Spiders is kind of where this
- 38:27Speaker 6: all started. I'm assuming I don't know much about it,
- 38:30Speaker 6: but I'll check it out. Her name is Amanda, very
- 38:31Speaker 6: nice woman and uh and yeah, looking forward to checking
- 38:34Speaker 6: it out.
- 38:34Speaker 1: All right, props to Amanda and Spotted to war. Make
- 38:36Speaker 1: sure to check it out. Correct it was not prime
- 38:39Speaker 1: Yeah coppra by wish a Coppa, So no hoards show
- 38:46Speaker 1: hosted by Keaton Thompson. But great news for JD is
- 38:48Speaker 1: Nikita kutrov wins the Heart Trophy. You were gonna riot,
- 38:51Speaker 1: you were gonna storm the Capitol built. This would have
- 38:53Speaker 1: been January sixth all over again. If it wouldn't be
- 38:55Speaker 1: about Trump, it'd be about Kutrof not winning the Herd
- 38:57Speaker 1: Tuffy longest gap was eight years for Jean Bellabo between
- 39:01Speaker 1: nineteen fifty six and nineteen sixty four. But finally it's
- 39:04Speaker 1: a second time winning after last winning in twenty nineteen
- 39:06Speaker 1: top five and voting by the way coach McDavid, McKinnon, mclinsel,
- 39:10Speaker 1: Brainy and Nick Suzuki, who got one first place vote
- 39:13Speaker 1: for the heart also one of the closest votes in history.
- 39:15Speaker 1: That to me was the big takeaway. Jad Cooch beat
- 39:17Speaker 1: up McDavid by just ten points. Why was it the
- 39:20Speaker 1: right choice?
- 39:22Speaker 2: Because it's Cooch again, just what he did with all
- 39:25Speaker 2: the injuries this season. How oh yeah, you wanted a
- 39:28Speaker 2: better analysis than that.
- 39:30Speaker 1: Was gonna say you were happy for McDavid because you go,
- 39:32Speaker 1: he won the Pearson that's voted on by your peers.
- 39:34Speaker 1: This is fifth Pearson. So you're telling me all the
- 39:36Speaker 1: players think McDavid's the best, but the media got it
- 39:38Speaker 1: right giving it to Cooch.
- 39:39Speaker 2: You're off, Yeah, because we're smarter than the media. But
- 39:43Speaker 2: I am media.
- 39:44Speaker 1: It's I'm saying, so the players should have been making.
- 39:46Speaker 2: Weird Yeah, I listen. I think it's always weird, Like,
- 39:49Speaker 2: how many times does it happen where guys won both
- 39:52Speaker 2: It happened regularly. Probably something we should research.
- 39:57Speaker 4: I just probably how many games recently.
- 39:58Speaker 3: The most recent overd think yeah right, yeah last year
- 40:01Speaker 3: David the most recent.
- 40:02Speaker 1: Yeah So, I mean, I mean it's sixty forty that
- 40:05Speaker 1: it happens.
- 40:05Speaker 4: For Hello book right, HELLI book corner. He was Heart
- 40:07Speaker 4: Bezida right.
- 40:08Speaker 1: Yes, Heart and Ben for Hell Yeah.
- 40:10Speaker 2: I just wonder so. But I mean, listen, uh Cooch
- 40:13Speaker 2: what he did with the injuries to that team this year? Again,
- 40:17Speaker 2: the points everything, I mean, he means a tight race.
- 40:20Speaker 2: McDavid has dry sidles, so I guess you can kind
- 40:22Speaker 2: of kick it back and forth. I think Coach, it's
- 40:24Speaker 2: more a righting of the wrong because you got robbed
- 40:27Speaker 2: a couple of years ago badly make good yeah yeah,
- 40:30Speaker 2: and then the yeah to make good right because at
- 40:32Speaker 2: the end of the day, it's all fugezy. It's for gaz,
- 40:34Speaker 2: it's awazi. You know what. You know how I feel it.
- 40:36Speaker 2: You know how I feel a wo wall Street.
- 40:38Speaker 1: It's a fugazy it's the guy.
- 40:41Speaker 2: You know what I feel about awards and awards ceremonies.
- 40:44Speaker 1: You all just think it's ridiculous, all right, well, end
- 40:45Speaker 1: of your accolades. And then there Coach Rock pick game
- 40:47Speaker 1: of both, making the first NHL Allstar Team, Jason robertson
- 40:51Speaker 1: that kind of his eye opening, McCart warnsk in the
- 40:53Speaker 1: back end, vassilevskiin net. Second team, McKinnon, Pasternach, Cole Kowfield,
- 40:58Speaker 1: Raspistali and your boy Evan Bouchard couldn't get up for Dorris,
- 41:01Speaker 1: but he does get in the second team most start.
- 41:03Speaker 1: And Logan Thompson. This was a bit surprising. He was
- 41:05Speaker 1: not a VESNA finalist, but he is a second All
- 41:08Speaker 1: Teams star. Like, what do you think of that?
- 41:10Speaker 4: JD?
- 41:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I thought I thought the Logan Thompson, you know,
- 41:15Speaker 2: that's a little surprise. I don't think he deserved it.
- 41:18Speaker 2: I had him even at some points this year in
- 41:20Speaker 2: the Vesnik. Yeah, I mean I I it is what
- 41:24Speaker 2: it is. Do I think? Do I pay? I'll be honestly,
- 41:27Speaker 2: do I pay a ton of attention to these All
- 41:28Speaker 2: Star teams? Probably not probably as much as the guys do.
- 41:32Speaker 2: Am I surprised by it? I mean, yeah, I'd like
- 41:34Speaker 2: to see Logan probably get him a little bit more love.
- 41:38Speaker 2: He's a little bit more of an underrated, unhralded goaltender.
- 41:43Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 41:43Speaker 2: In the league.
- 41:44Speaker 1: Back to the question that you post, which you were
- 41:46Speaker 1: not prepared for twenty three players have won both, by
- 41:48Speaker 1: the way, in terms of the Pearson and the Hearts.
- 41:50Speaker 1: That's it. Wow, But it's not uncommon.
- 41:52Speaker 2: It's not uncommon. It's so twenty three. Yeah, you're right,
- 41:56Speaker 2: in one hundred year history. Some have done it multiple times.
- 42:00Speaker 2: Some have won both multiple times.
- 42:02Speaker 1: Mcdavi's done a bunch of times.
- 42:03Speaker 2: Okay, bunch of times.
- 42:05Speaker 1: Last topic here before we saw it off. By the way,
- 42:07Speaker 1: still we're doing two episodes a week. Stell In cup
- 42:08Speaker 1: files over, we're going two episodes a week. I heart
- 42:10Speaker 1: once the extra content. We're happy to appease them. J
- 42:14Speaker 1: Rob Drama the last topic. So the Pride of Arcadia,
- 42:16Speaker 1: California and eight fourth in the league forty five goals,
- 42:18Speaker 1: ranked tenth at ninety six points. He's also an RFA.
- 42:22Speaker 1: They got Miko Ranton, Wyat Johnson, Rupe Hins, Thomas Arlie,
- 42:25Speaker 1: Mero Hazon and Jake Ottinger the cap. All those guys
- 42:28Speaker 1: are in the cap. Obviously, next season, what does Dallas
- 42:30Speaker 1: do if he asked for twelve to fourteen million dollars.
- 42:32Speaker 1: He's on the first team All Star team. Do you
- 42:34Speaker 1: trade Jason Robertson because he's too expensive, or do you
- 42:37Speaker 1: deal with those other guys?
- 42:42Speaker 3: First off, I was surprised he was on the first
- 42:45Speaker 3: all the first team that didn't make exactly Cole Kafeel's
- 42:48Speaker 3: got more goals than him, and that that was weird
- 42:50Speaker 3: to me. I didn't understand that. But whatever, I mean,
- 42:52Speaker 3: I don't pick those things, So I yeah, it depends.
- 42:58Speaker 3: I mean, I guess if he's around twelve, I mean,
- 43:01Speaker 3: or if he's fourteen, I guess those are That's that's
- 43:03Speaker 3: a lot. That's a big difference. I think you got
- 43:06Speaker 3: to try and keep them. I mean, that's a lot
- 43:08Speaker 3: of goals to give up, and and goals don't grow
- 43:11Speaker 3: on trees, and those guys don't grow on trees, is
- 43:13Speaker 3: what I really want to say is And so I think,
- 43:16Speaker 3: if you're Dallas, you gotta find a way to resign him.
- 43:18Speaker 3: And if you don't, I mean you gotta you're gonna
- 43:19Speaker 3: get a big return. But I think JD I don't know.
- 43:22Speaker 3: I mean, that's a lot of goals. He's almost he's
- 43:24Speaker 3: pretty much a fifty goals scored, a hundred point guy
- 43:26Speaker 3: every year. So I think those guys are hard to
- 43:29Speaker 3: come by, So you gotta find a way to get
- 43:31Speaker 3: it done.
- 43:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, look you look at them seconds last
- 43:34Speaker 2: year at nine point eight five, you got why Johnson
- 43:38Speaker 2: locked up, Rupe Hans is locked up at pretty good
- 43:40Speaker 2: deals do. Shane's got three years left, Sam Steele's got
- 43:43Speaker 2: a year left, Jamie Ben you need to resign potentially
- 43:47Speaker 2: Adam Irn, Michael Bunting, Nathan Bastien, and then you have
- 43:50Speaker 2: Maverick Bork who's probably get a little bit of a
- 43:52Speaker 2: bump R too. Haruri a rere r two yes, and
- 44:01Speaker 2: then you have Robertson. I listen, I think it's going
- 44:04Speaker 2: to be more question of what Segond does this year.
- 44:07Speaker 2: I think he's probably done. I can't imagine he might
- 44:11Speaker 2: try to come back, but yeah, he's had a lot
- 44:14Speaker 2: of surgeries. Man, So you want I think, right? Yeah,
- 44:18Speaker 2: So if I'm Jim Nail, I maybe approach him and say, like,
- 44:20Speaker 2: how badly do you want to play? And if you don't,
- 44:23Speaker 2: we'll let you play out put you on LTI.
- 44:25Speaker 1: R because I just want the money. I don't really
- 44:27Speaker 1: want to play.
- 44:28Speaker 2: Yeah, but I think I think you pay. I you
- 44:30Speaker 2: got to pay Robertson. It's hard to find a pure
- 44:32Speaker 2: trigger man like that snipers.
- 44:35Speaker 1: You've got six guys in Dallas coming for about half
- 44:38Speaker 1: the cap.
- 44:38Speaker 2: So yeah, and again the problem is is they're just
- 44:41Speaker 2: in such a tough division, so it's like you can't.
- 44:45Speaker 2: You need to have the best players there, and they
- 44:47Speaker 2: just had. I mean, what what scares me more is
- 44:50Speaker 2: Rupe hints Rupa ants is starting to scare me. Rupas
- 44:55Speaker 2: is sar to be a little bit injury prone and
- 44:59Speaker 2: not come up in the big moments. And Robertson has
- 45:03Speaker 2: been there, He's been available, you know, the best abilities
- 45:05Speaker 2: availability and he's been there. So but I know it's
- 45:08Speaker 2: hard to not you want to pay those centermen and
- 45:11Speaker 2: keep those centermens. So it's gonna be a big offseason
- 45:13Speaker 2: for them. It's gonna be really interesting to see what
- 45:15Speaker 2: they do. And it's a big year for them because
- 45:18Speaker 2: if they don't replicate at least because you look at
- 45:24Speaker 2: Minnesota's probably the in second to get Dylan Larkin and
- 45:28Speaker 2: I expect them to get a centerman this offseason. So
- 45:33Speaker 2: Dallas can't sit on their hands. So yeah, they got
- 45:35Speaker 2: to move shot off the pot, move them for some picks,
- 45:37Speaker 2: but I don't think you'll get enough of a return
- 45:40Speaker 2: that what you're gonna like for Jason Robertsons, you gotta
- 45:42Speaker 2: pay it second.
- 45:44Speaker 1: By the way, he's thirty four. But maybe all those
- 45:45Speaker 1: injuries have taken their toll. Last topic and I'll feed
- 45:48Speaker 1: it to tell. The New York Knicks are NBA champions,
- 45:50Speaker 1: first time in fifty three years. But JAD know one
- 45:53Speaker 1: moment you can appreciate. I know that because now the
- 45:54Speaker 1: Knicks fans are gonna be obnoxious.
- 45:56Speaker 2: But this was great.
- 45:57Speaker 1: There's a shot of sign for the Larry David at
- 45:59Speaker 1: the game four, and the guy tweeted, the Spurs know
- 46:03Speaker 1: how to take the leady, you just don't know how
- 46:04Speaker 1: to hold the lead. And that's really the most important
- 46:07Speaker 1: part of the lead, the holding, which is a reference
- 46:09Speaker 1: to Seinfeld episode car Reservation. So the tweet was sent
- 46:12Speaker 1: and then on the Rich Iison Show he read it
- 46:14Speaker 1: to Larry data l Yeah, I saw that, he because
- 46:16Speaker 1: that was great. That was so funny, that was brilliant.
- 46:18Speaker 1: Imagine this guy tal Alex ten thirty three just puts
- 46:22Speaker 1: that tweet up there and then Larry David got to
- 46:24Speaker 1: see it. Well, the rare good things of social media
- 46:26Speaker 1: take a reservation.
- 46:28Speaker 6: There was a great Twitter account back in the day
- 46:30Speaker 6: called modern Seinfeld, come up with best tell contemporary Seinfeld idea,
- 46:35Speaker 6: and I love one of Jerry and George getting stuck
- 46:39Speaker 6: in the craziness of New York just going wild after
- 46:42Speaker 6: the Knicks win the NBA Championship. That would be a
- 46:45Speaker 6: great episode of Seinfeld. I'd enjoyed that one. Go nixt
- 46:48Speaker 6: fantastic run. Speaking of dominant Hurricanes level dominance, I mean
- 46:53Speaker 6: what the Knicks did was you.
- 46:54Speaker 2: See that by theirs they led for seventy two percent.
- 46:58Speaker 1: There's two ways to look at this. The one hand,
- 47:00Speaker 1: I do think the resilience of the Knicks is impressed.
- 47:01Speaker 1: And when they were down to one agains Atlanta, tell
- 47:03Speaker 1: I said, man, they're Mike Brown's no Tom Thibodeau. This
- 47:06Speaker 1: is a must win. And then they lost once in
- 47:07Speaker 1: fifty one days, like it was an unbelievable juggernaut. But
- 47:10Speaker 1: to Jad's point, the Spurs had double digit leads in
- 47:13Speaker 1: the fourth quarter of every single game. That's a legendary choke.
- 47:16Speaker 2: Job, choking on a big old.
- 47:21Speaker 4: One more sporting event to gott to talk.
- 47:23Speaker 1: About Worlder Canada, Well, not just that.
- 47:26Speaker 3: The one last night I got I caught the end
- 47:29Speaker 3: of it was unbelievable world cups.
- 47:32Speaker 4: Oh you see at the White House, you have some
- 47:34Speaker 4: freedom ship.
- 47:38Speaker 2: Did you see Josh Hokit with Michelle Obama?
- 47:43Speaker 6: Man, Yeah, that guy's something he threw up on himself
- 47:47Speaker 6: at the media even Well, yeah, like apple sauce.
- 47:50Speaker 2: He's trying to pretend that he's he's he's weird man,
- 47:52Speaker 2: He's he's he's a freaking deky Dutch guy.
- 47:55Speaker 5: Kudos Justine though, beat the pub with the all time
- 48:02Speaker 5: flex fail when he completely he does it.
- 48:06Speaker 2: He did a celebration dinner the night before the fight.
- 48:10Speaker 2: He did and said, he said, it's we've already beat Justin.
- 48:14Speaker 2: It's a formality and he gets his fucking face caved in.
- 48:19Speaker 1: Last thought from Dana White on Freedom two fifty, I
- 48:22Speaker 1: can't afford it. There's no fucking way we do this again.
- 48:24Speaker 1: I'll never do the sphere again, and we'll never do
- 48:26Speaker 1: this again. That was his thoughts on staging another White
- 48:29Speaker 1: House event.
- 48:29Speaker 2: So probably the same amount of money. I mean, you
- 48:32Speaker 2: gotta think they made it, bady, But guys, we're we're
- 48:37Speaker 2: less than a month away than the notorious.
- 48:40Speaker 4: Oh yeah.
- 48:43Speaker 2: Connor McGregor, conc gregor always yes, you shut your fucking
- 48:48Speaker 2: mouth when you're talking to me. Sorry, sorry, I need
- 48:53Speaker 2: a nap.
- 48:54Speaker 1: Guys, it's almost a solid hour of a guest. Good
- 48:56Speaker 1: way script. The lesson went to tow we don't need
- 48:58Speaker 1: a guest every week.
- 48:59Speaker 4: We can just wait.
- 49:00Speaker 2: Last last one, last one was did you see the
- 49:03Speaker 2: World Cup Spain versus Cape cape Verde Cape.
- 49:07Speaker 1: Verda gotta draw. That's incredible for them, what a story.
- 49:10Speaker 2: The goaltender went from three hundred followers on Instagram to
- 49:13Speaker 2: one point eight million. He was he's an electrician, one
- 49:19Speaker 2: of the players on Cape Verday's team. They signed him
- 49:22Speaker 2: via LinkedIn message said you didn't respond to dude, you
- 49:25Speaker 2: gotta read this shit. It's unbelievable. I don't even know
- 49:28Speaker 2: what can I thought cap Verdier is like, uh, it
- 49:30Speaker 2: was like an army base in the US.
- 49:33Speaker 1: Again, I'm not the most avid soccer guy, but I
- 49:35Speaker 1: knew it was gonna be diluted when I saw the
- 49:36Speaker 1: field went from thirty two to forty eight. Sorry, some
- 49:39Speaker 1: of these countries getting in, it's gonna be able to joke,
- 49:40Speaker 1: so wake me up when we get to the qualifying
- 49:42Speaker 1: But Spain, yeah, you're right. At the end of the day,
- 49:44Speaker 1: find it on the map. You can't find Cape Verde.
- 49:46Speaker 1: And the Spaniards are too busy shoving pie in their
- 49:49Speaker 1: mouth and worrying about bullfighting. They can't score a couple
- 49:51Speaker 1: of goals like that is brutal.
- 49:55Speaker 2: Oh, Canada not getting good match? We got a good
- 49:58Speaker 2: match coming up.
- 49:58Speaker 1: We gotta gotta be Qatar for god.
- 50:00Speaker 2: Just what the what the frick were they doing with
- 50:02Speaker 2: that Bosnian.
- 50:03Speaker 1: Against This is a question of one million, free million people.
- 50:07Speaker 1: We can't beat them one one draw.
