- 0:29What's going on, everybody?
- 0:31Welcome to the Clydesdale
- 0:34Media Weight Loss Journey.
- 0:36That's all I'm doing for an intro today.
- 0:38Yeah.
- 0:39He is the Clydesdale.
- 0:41I am Coach Cheryl.
- 0:42And we are here to talk
- 0:43about where Scott's at.
- 0:44And it's funny because as a
- 0:45nutrition coach,
- 0:46I don't know if it's just
- 0:48as a nutrition coach, as a person,
- 0:49I kind of have like, well,
- 0:52For one, I never have an off.
- 0:53I never have a day where I'm
- 0:55not thinking about somebody.
- 0:57And it's funny because I was
- 0:59messaging Scott over the
- 1:00weekend because I needed
- 1:02something from him,
- 1:02but also because I had a
- 1:04feeling that things weren't quite right.
- 1:07And I was like, hey,
- 1:09you got a few minutes?
- 1:11Didn't hear back right away.
- 1:12And then the next
- 1:13conversation I get is that
- 1:16you're not feeling well and
- 1:17it's been a rough weekend.
- 1:18So fill me in on what
- 1:19happened this weekend.
- 1:23So as we get into it, you understand,
- 1:27I don't have a ton of breath.
- 1:29So it's short statements.
- 1:33Basically,
- 1:34I've been telling you for like a
- 1:37month and a half that every
- 1:39time I work out,
- 1:40I run out of breath really fast.
- 1:43And
- 1:45It's been very frustrating
- 1:46because I feel like my
- 1:48sinuses were getting better and, um,
- 1:51and I can breathe
- 1:51completely through my nose now.
- 1:53Like it's really cool.
- 1:56Then this weekend just took
- 1:59a turn for the worse and it
- 2:01got where I couldn't really
- 2:03even catch my breath.
- 2:05Like felt like full on
- 2:07asthma attack or that I
- 2:09could just not breathe at all.
- 2:14Like really scary.
- 2:16so I called my doctor he
- 2:19couldn't get me in until
- 2:20today and um and that's
- 2:25like all of a sudden like
- 2:27it went from I could do a
- 2:29workout but like holding
- 2:31back a little bit to I
- 2:34can't even like get up the
- 2:35stairs like instantly so so
- 2:41I get to the the doctor today
- 2:44He,
- 2:46and I was still having that gas problem,
- 2:48like excessive, excessive gas.
- 2:51And so he felt around, laid me down,
- 2:57went through my stomach, my chest,
- 3:00a lot about a lot of stuff like that.
- 3:03And then after a few tests,
- 3:06turns out that I have a
- 3:10infection in my lungs and
- 3:13And it's probably been there
- 3:14for a while and just really
- 3:18ramped up this weekend.
- 3:20Yeah.
- 3:22Well, a couple of things.
- 3:23You haven't really spoken
- 3:25too much about the out of breath stuff.
- 3:29Like you haven't really been disclosing.
- 3:31So I have on our on this
- 3:33episodes and we can listen back.
- 3:36I know you've been
- 3:36struggling a little bit with breathing,
- 3:38but you haven't been like,
- 3:40I'm getting so out of breath that like,
- 3:41I have to stop.
- 3:42Like I haven't, that hasn't.
- 3:43So this does seem like it
- 3:45got better very quickly.
- 3:46However, or got fast really quickly,
- 3:49got bad really fast.
- 3:50However,
- 3:52I do think that there being
- 3:53an underlying lung issue
- 3:55might be why the last couple of months,
- 3:58remember how we've been like, Hey,
- 3:59you're like,
- 4:00I feel like you're sick a lot.
- 4:02I think that you might've
- 4:03had something brewing and
- 4:05it just wasn't bad enough to actually
- 4:09be treated.
- 4:10It wasn't,
- 4:10it wasn't affecting you that
- 4:11much until all of a sudden last weekend.
- 4:15And that also likely
- 4:16might've been what was
- 4:17upsetting your gut.
- 4:18It might've all been kind of
- 4:19the same thing.
- 4:20It might not have been your food at all.
- 4:22Could have been just that stuff kind of,
- 4:23you know, sitting there, you know,
- 4:25so that might've been more
- 4:25what you were feeling is
- 4:27maybe pressure on the belly
- 4:29from the lungs.
- 4:30So,
- 4:30cause all that stuff pushes into your
- 4:32diaphragm.
- 4:32So you might've been getting
- 4:33gas and stuff from that.
- 4:35I'm sure the doctor probably
- 4:36talked to you about that.
- 4:39Well,
- 4:39the one thing he found was my stomach
- 4:42was really tight.
- 4:43Like it was being pushed out inches, um,
- 4:48from everything that's going on.
- 4:50Yeah.
- 4:50From the lungs.
- 4:51Yeah.
- 4:51Yeah.
- 4:52So it was distended like way out there.
- 4:56And it,
- 4:57that today is where that really hurts.
- 5:00Like my stomach hurts so bad
- 5:02this morning when I woke up, um,
- 5:06And then it's just burp and
- 5:07burp and burp trying to get some relief.
- 5:10Yeah.
- 5:13And then I went to the
- 5:13doctor and all that.
- 5:14So he gave me antibiotics and a steroid.
- 5:22And it's just for five days.
- 5:25And then he wants to see me,
- 5:27see if there's any kind of
- 5:29headway with it.
- 5:31And then we'll go from there.
- 5:32Okay.
- 5:32Did they do lung x-rays?
- 5:34Not today.
- 5:35Okay.
- 5:36Okay.
- 5:36So you're on a steroid and I
- 5:38was going to say,
- 5:39I was going to say before you said,
- 5:41I'm assuming they put you
- 5:42on steroids and antibiotics.
- 5:43So you're going to likely
- 5:44start to feel pretty good
- 5:46in a couple of days with
- 5:47the steroid for sure.
- 5:49But yeah,
- 5:50huge setback for sure in terms of
- 5:52that stuff.
- 5:53But, you know,
- 5:56the main thing that I want
- 5:57to touch on as we're going
- 5:58into this is the title of
- 5:59today's episode is another
- 6:01hurdle right before the open.
- 6:04Right.
- 6:05And so,
- 6:08I really have mixed feelings
- 6:09about that title because I
- 6:11think that in your head,
- 6:12you're already like, oh, this is great.
- 6:15Now I'm going into the open,
- 6:16not being at my best.
- 6:18I'm under, I'm not, I'm sick.
- 6:21You know,
- 6:21I'm not gonna really be able to showcase
- 6:24myself as a person and
- 6:26showing up at the gym.
- 6:28And it's almost like
- 6:28becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy that,
- 6:31oh, my open workouts are going to suck.
- 6:33Okay.
- 6:34First of all, I love CrossFit.
- 6:36I love the open.
- 6:37I love the games.
- 6:38I'm all about it.
- 6:39You know,
- 6:39my goal is I want to compete again,
- 6:41but the end of the day, it's one workout.
- 6:45That's likely going to take
- 6:46about 10 minutes out of your entire week.
- 6:49So this hurdle, I don't give a shit.
- 6:52about the open.
- 6:54I don't give a shit about the open.
- 6:56I'm gonna be honest.
- 6:57That is the least of my
- 6:59worries when you're telling
- 7:00me that you have a lung
- 7:00infection that is so hard
- 7:02for you to walk up the stairs.
- 7:05My concern for you is your
- 7:07health and being able to
- 7:09walk up the stairs.
- 7:10So when I wrote the title
- 7:13Um,
- 7:13and I'm not concerned with the open
- 7:14either.
- 7:15Good.
- 7:16I truly not.
- 7:17I really just want to feel
- 7:18better and be able to be
- 7:21active again without breathing heavy.
- 7:25Yeah.
- 7:26And so the title was just,
- 7:30everybody's talking about the open.
- 7:31I just kind of went in there.
- 7:33Well,
- 7:33and why I'm going to say that is
- 7:35because I'm happy that you said that,
- 7:37but do you know how many
- 7:38people right now?
- 7:41out there are stressing
- 7:43about being sick two weeks
- 7:45before the open or having a
- 7:47funky itis in their elbow
- 7:49before the open.
- 7:50Freaking the games ain't
- 7:51writing their paycheck.
- 7:53They're going in there to show their ego.
- 7:55You know, like it's like, it's dude,
- 7:57it's not worth it.
- 7:58So my bigger concern for you
- 8:00is where we're at right now.
- 8:03with your health.
- 8:04Okay.
- 8:05And, and this is like really important,
- 8:07you know,
- 8:08like your health really matters.
- 8:10I'm going to be honest.
- 8:12I think you are entirely too stressed,
- 8:16entirely too stressed.
- 8:18I'm going to be flat out
- 8:19honest with you today at your coach.
- 8:20You are not prioritizing
- 8:22your health in your life.
- 8:26You are the last person that
- 8:28matters in your life.
- 8:32And I'm being brutally
- 8:33honest with you today.
- 8:34I wouldn't say last,
- 8:37but I'm putting a lot of
- 8:38people ahead of me.
- 8:40A lot of people.
- 8:43And it's got you in a situation right now.
- 8:47And the solution is recognizing that
- 8:52Just like your coach,
- 8:53there's only so much your
- 8:54body's going to be capable
- 8:55of before it says, sorry,
- 8:58I'm going to put you on
- 9:00your ass and you're going
- 9:02to have to deal with this.
- 9:03And all those things that
- 9:04you've been putting before
- 9:05you are going to have to
- 9:06take the backseat burner.
- 9:08And that's only going to
- 9:09make you feel worse because
- 9:11now you're letting people down.
- 9:12And that's not the truth,
- 9:14but that's what you're going to feel.
- 9:16You know,
- 9:17so because I want you to get better.
- 9:20And yes, like I've mentioned to you,
- 9:22I've been saying this, like,
- 9:24I think that there's
- 9:24something going on with
- 9:25your immune system.
- 9:26You've likely had a lung
- 9:28infection for the past 12 to 16 weeks.
- 9:30It's been just brewing a little bit,
- 9:32a little bit of stuff brewing in there.
- 9:35And, you know, it just comes down to,
- 9:38you know, people don't realize, you know,
- 9:40not, yeah, you do sleep pretty well,
- 9:43but your sleep schedule
- 9:44isn't great for your circadian rhythm.
- 9:46You know,
- 9:46I think that you're working up
- 9:48until the time you go to bed.
- 9:49You know,
- 9:50I think that you do a lot of things.
- 9:52You know,
- 9:53you're stressed a lot with work stuff.
- 9:55You're stressed a lot with podcast stuff.
- 9:57You're stressed a lot with a lot of things,
- 9:59you know,
- 10:00and you're not really taking
- 10:02your own self and saying,
- 10:04I matter in my life.
- 10:08And I get it.
- 10:09I don't disagree with that.
- 10:16Just to answer Philip Kelly.
- 10:20I do go to therapy,
- 10:22but my therapist just
- 10:24retired in December.
- 10:26Yeah.
- 10:28So I need to find a new one.
- 10:30Let me just tell y'all, therapy,
- 10:33underrated.
- 10:35We should all have a therapist,
- 10:37especially if you work from home.
- 10:41I'm just going to be honest
- 10:43because you are literally
- 10:45always second guessing
- 10:46every thought that goes
- 10:47through your head.
- 10:48And it's like to the nth degree.
- 10:51So I do want to disclose a
- 10:53few things that I've kept
- 10:55private because it's just a lot.
- 10:59My mother-in-law has cancer.
- 11:02My sister has cancer.
- 11:05Um, my sister and my mom are fighting.
- 11:08So now like we're the only
- 11:11ones that listen to my sister.
- 11:15It's, it's just a lot.
- 11:18And we're four hours away
- 11:20from all this going on and
- 11:24it's taking its toll on my wife big time.
- 11:26So then I feel like I have
- 11:28to be behind her.
- 11:31and supporting her however I can.
- 11:34And all of that is taking a
- 11:36front seat to like our stuff.
- 11:40And it's killing my wife and me.
- 11:46So first off,
- 11:48I'm really proud of you for
- 11:51opening up about that
- 11:52because that was really hard.
- 11:56But I'll be honest, I feel like this
- 12:01is the first podcast in a
- 12:02while that you've been
- 12:04authentic with actually telling us,
- 12:08not just me,
- 12:09but where you're struggling
- 12:10in your life to make priorities,
- 12:13make you a priority.
- 12:14And what you're dealing with is not easy.
- 12:18It's not easy.
- 12:19It's not easy to watch loved ones,
- 12:21especially because I don't
- 12:21know the severity of either
- 12:23of those situations.
- 12:24And one is your wife's mom
- 12:25and one is your sister.
- 12:26You said your sister.
- 12:28So your your blood and the
- 12:30other is your mom's blood
- 12:31or your wife's blood.
- 12:32That's that's not easy at
- 12:34all to deal with.
- 12:36And.
- 12:37You have every right to lean on people,
- 12:39including a therapist,
- 12:40including friends and family.
- 12:42And no,
- 12:43this is definitely very vulnerable.
- 12:45You are on YouTube right now
- 12:47sharing your story with people.
- 12:49But guess what?
- 12:50The cool thing about this
- 12:51channel is the people that
- 12:52are listening to you right
- 12:53now truly care about you,
- 12:56like truly care about you.
- 12:58And sharing that with them,
- 12:59they literally- I know,
- 13:01they're going to make me cry on here.
- 13:04They literally,
- 13:05they would literally wanna
- 13:06be in the room with you and like,
- 13:08and just hug you and try
- 13:12and make things better for
- 13:13you and make your life easier.
- 13:15Can we cook you dinner?
- 13:16Like they would do that for you.
- 13:18I truly believe that all of
- 13:20the people in this chat
- 13:22would be there for you.
- 13:23So you being open today and
- 13:24sharing that was the best
- 13:26thing you ever did ever.
- 13:30And I'm so proud of you.
- 13:31And it doesn't, now, first and foremost.
- 13:34And that's the tip of the iceberg.
- 13:36Because we're having family
- 13:39fights on both sides.
- 13:41It's just really complicated.
- 13:43A lot of people from my
- 13:44hometown are getting cancer.
- 13:48Classmates, friends.
- 13:50And it's scary.
- 13:52And then all this stuff happened to me.
- 13:54And I was like, oh, my God.
- 13:56I'm getting the cancer like
- 13:58everybody else.
- 14:00Guys, cancer is, I don't even,
- 14:05it's really sad.
- 14:08the rate of, of how many,
- 14:09the amount of people,
- 14:10I feel like you can be in a
- 14:11room of five people and
- 14:14like at least two of them have cancer.
- 14:16And I think every single one
- 14:17of them has had a blood
- 14:19relative with cancer.
- 14:21Now, do you feel comfortable disclosing,
- 14:23um, in terms of prognosis, uh,
- 14:26stages and all that are
- 14:28things looking positive on,
- 14:30on those ends?
- 14:31Or I know that you had told
- 14:33us earlier on about the
- 14:34mom-in-law was a leg, a leg cancer,
- 14:36correct?
- 14:37Something on the skin.
- 14:38throat throat okay no that
- 14:40wasn't what we what we
- 14:41heard about you and told me
- 14:42we had throat cancer we we
- 14:45got all that cleared up
- 14:47they found three spots on
- 14:48her lungs um it's early
- 14:51they think um they think
- 14:53they're gonna get it good
- 14:55prognosis with that my
- 14:57sister's weird um she was
- 14:59having trouble breathing
- 15:01they found masses in her lungs
- 15:03They removed those.
- 15:04They were not cancer.
- 15:06And then in her hip and groin area,
- 15:10started to develop a cluster of cancer.
- 15:12Okay.
- 15:12All right.
- 15:15Well,
- 15:16first things first is... And I don't
- 15:18know the prognosis there.
- 15:19Yeah.
- 15:21Praying, obviously.
- 15:23Prayers for your mother-in-law,
- 15:25prayers for your sister.
- 15:26prayers for your family,
- 15:28because I know that I know
- 15:31that stress of having family drama,
- 15:34when you don't need family drama,
- 15:36when people are fighting
- 15:37over things that don't
- 15:38matter when you got a loved one sick,
- 15:40it doesn't and it doesn't help anything.
- 15:42All of that aside, okay,
- 15:45because I do want to really
- 15:47make sure that you are taken care of.
- 15:50No matter what happens in your life,
- 15:53and the people around you,
- 15:55your life still matters.
- 15:58And putting you on the
- 15:59backseat burner for the
- 16:01state of worry is not going
- 16:03to help the situation.
- 16:04That goes for your wife as well.
- 16:06You guys are a unit.
- 16:09And no matter what goes on
- 16:11outside of your house,
- 16:12you guys need to lean on each other.
- 16:13And sometimes that means
- 16:16making the hard choices to say, hey, no,
- 16:19we need to take care of our health.
- 16:21We need to come first this weekend.
- 16:23We don't need to be involved
- 16:25in the bullshit and being
- 16:27okay with that decision,
- 16:28knowing that you're not
- 16:29going to be able to affect
- 16:30things in a positive or a negative way.
- 16:34You know,
- 16:35like there's a lot of people out
- 16:37there dealing with sick loved ones.
- 16:41And in fact, I can talk about her.
- 16:44I had a client that got
- 16:45diagnosed with cancer when
- 16:47working with me.
- 16:49And let me just tell you,
- 16:51one of the happiest women I
- 16:52could see being told, literally,
- 16:54this is not looking good.
- 16:55Had to go through chemo, radiation,
- 16:57lost all her hair,
- 16:58lost a bunch of weight.
- 16:59And the entire time, every single week,
- 17:03I got a photo of her, bald head and all,
- 17:06with a muscle.
- 17:09I'm going strong.
- 17:10because she wasn't gonna
- 17:11fucking quit on herself.
- 17:14And you have to realize that
- 17:17you can only do so much for other people.
- 17:21You still gotta take care of you.
- 17:24You gotta take care of you.
- 17:26You're only gonna be able to
- 17:28help them if you are 100%.
- 17:30And I'm not telling you to be selfish.
- 17:33I'm not telling you not to
- 17:34go see your family.
- 17:36I'm not telling you that.
- 17:36I'm telling you that we've
- 17:38gotta take Scott's journey
- 17:40Seriously,
- 17:42just like the guy that writes
- 17:44your paycheck,
- 17:45the job you show up to every day,
- 17:47that stuff matters.
- 17:49This matters too.
- 17:55It's hard to look at it that way.
- 17:57I know.
- 17:59It feels shameful.
- 18:01You feel guilty.
- 18:03You feel selfish.
- 18:05You feel overwhelmed.
- 18:07You feel all of those things.
- 18:10This right here, super hard, super hard.
- 18:20It's,
- 18:20it's a gift and a curse being
- 18:23somebody who cares so much about others.
- 18:27I get it.
- 18:28I totally get it, dude.
- 18:30And,
- 18:31and right now that's why we're having
- 18:32this conversation, you know,
- 18:35cause I want you to walk away today.
- 18:40saying like, right now,
- 18:42I'm gonna make the best
- 18:43choices for my health,
- 18:45whatever that looks like.
- 18:49And right now,
- 18:51you wanna know what the
- 18:51leading cause of cancer really is?
- 18:53It's not your fucking
- 18:56aspartame in your diet
- 18:57sodas and that shit, it's stress.
- 19:02People do not realize how
- 19:04much stress affects your
- 19:07body's immune system.
- 19:09And if you have the genes for cancer,
- 19:13because we all have those genes,
- 19:15if we have them or not,
- 19:17the expression of them,
- 19:19oxidative stress is one of
- 19:22the biggest causes of cancer.
- 19:25There is truth to being able
- 19:26to stress yourself sick and dead.
- 19:29I do believe that 100%.
- 19:32And there are studies on there.
- 19:33PubMed, go ahead and Google stress, cancer,
- 19:35PubMed.
- 19:36You'll find a bunch of studies.
- 19:37I don't have to tell you,
- 19:40but so that was my,
- 19:44I didn't expect to go there today.
- 19:45I'm happy that we're having this talk.
- 19:48I mean, I'm not happy, but I'm,
- 19:49I didn't expect that to be
- 19:50what we were talking about today.
- 19:51So, but I'm going to put it before to you.
- 19:59Um, I just feel helpless right now.
- 20:02I feel like I'm so weak, um,
- 20:06after this weekend that I, I can't,
- 20:09I can't help anybody.
- 20:11Um, and that worries me a lot.
- 20:16So I'm trying to,
- 20:18I'm trying to flip the
- 20:20script and take care of
- 20:23myself so I can take care of others.
- 20:26Absolutely.
- 20:28Let's start with mapping out
- 20:29what that looks like.
- 20:30Okay.
- 20:32I think you have pretty good sleep habits.
- 20:34Am I right or am I wrong?
- 20:35Are you lying about that?
- 20:39Wow.
- 20:39Jab.
- 20:42I go to bed at the same time every night.
- 20:44I go to bed at 10 o'clock.
- 20:45What?
- 20:4510?
- 20:45Up at 745.
- 20:46Up at 745.
- 20:46That's 11, 12, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.
- 20:46I'm happy with that.
- 20:55You're getting a good amount of sleep.
- 20:56Okay.
- 20:57You sleep through the night
- 20:58for the most part when you're not sick?
- 21:00Yeah.
- 21:01I have not been the last five days.
- 21:04Okay.
- 21:05So you are restless right
- 21:06now when you sleep?
- 21:09I just wake up not being able to breathe.
- 21:11Okay.
- 21:11And then recovering from
- 21:12that is really hard.
- 21:14Throughout the day,
- 21:15do you feel energized in your day?
- 21:17No.
- 21:17Okay.
- 21:19Before last week,
- 21:20were you feeling energized in your day?
- 21:22Yes.
- 21:22Okay.
- 21:23Okay.
- 21:23So this past week has just
- 21:24been hitting you pretty hard.
- 21:25All right.
- 21:25That's good.
- 21:26I know the gut stuff has been going on.
- 21:30Your day,
- 21:32how much time you work from 8 a.m.
- 21:36until what time?
- 21:37Five.
- 21:38Eight to five.
- 21:40Yeah.
- 21:42Of that time,
- 21:44how many times during the day
- 21:45do you actually get up off
- 21:46of your computer?
- 21:49Quite a bit.
- 21:50I really did.
- 21:51After the games this year,
- 21:52I did put some habits in
- 21:54place where I do get up and take a break.
- 21:58Like if we were in an office building,
- 22:00I'd get a break.
- 22:01Okay.
- 22:02And so I'm just setting that
- 22:04up for myself.
- 22:06Okay.
- 22:07Okay.
- 22:07So you do get up and you take breaks.
- 22:09Okay.
- 22:11Eating schedule is pretty routine.
- 22:15Yeah.
- 22:15Okay.
- 22:17How are you relaxing between
- 22:18the hours of 5 PM and 10 PM?
- 22:28Is that when a lot of your
- 22:29worries starts to come in?
- 22:30Is that when you and your
- 22:30wife are talking and
- 22:31talking to the family and all that stuff?
- 22:34Yeah.
- 22:35Okay.
- 22:36All right.
- 22:37Um,
- 22:37can we put some boundaries there in
- 22:40terms of like,
- 22:41how often are you talking
- 22:42to your family and she
- 22:43talking to her mom-in-law every day?
- 22:47Um, mom,
- 22:49mom-in-law probably every other day.
- 22:51Okay.
- 22:55Um,
- 22:57it's my sister-in-law is a pain in the
- 23:02ass and, and that's where,
- 23:06so what happens is she
- 23:08sends in her side of the
- 23:09story and then we have to
- 23:12figure out the reality of
- 23:14by then reaching out to
- 23:17family members that we trust.
- 23:20Yeah.
- 23:21Gotcha.
- 23:22Okay.
- 23:23So reality is,
- 23:25is that you don't have to
- 23:28put out fires in the family.
- 23:31You're putting that
- 23:32responsibility on yourself.
- 23:34So my suggestion right now
- 23:38is to stop putting out fires.
- 23:40And if you want to call and
- 23:42you want to check in,
- 23:43And you want to say hi and
- 23:45you want to check in on
- 23:45your sister and your mom and your family,
- 23:49schedule it in, have the nightly call,
- 23:52pray and move on because
- 23:55otherwise my sister, it's different.
- 23:57Right.
- 23:58She's so mad at the world
- 24:02that we don't know when we get to know.
- 24:03Yeah.
- 24:04Like.
- 24:06It could be two weeks.
- 24:06I don't hear from her even
- 24:08trying like to reach out
- 24:11and I don't get a response for two weeks.
- 24:13Yeah.
- 24:14Then I don't feel like I'm
- 24:15getting the full story.
- 24:16I don't know where we really are.
- 24:18That's so that's that stress,
- 24:20which is very different than the other.
- 24:24So here's what I'm going to tell you then.
- 24:26This is me giving you
- 24:28coaching is I'm not going
- 24:31to be able to control what calls you make,
- 24:34who you talk to, what you do.
- 24:36However,
- 24:37I can tell you that you're going
- 24:39to use those things either
- 24:40as an excuse not to take care of yourself,
- 24:43or you're going to make the
- 24:44decisions that, hey,
- 24:45I'm going to take on this
- 24:46stress as a choice,
- 24:48but I'm still committed to
- 24:49the things I need to do for me.
- 24:53And that's going to be your choice.
- 24:56And some days you might realize,
- 24:58you know what?
- 24:59I don't need to talk to that
- 25:00person today and add the stress.
- 25:02I can wait till tomorrow.
- 25:04I don't need to put out a fire today.
- 25:05And that's really important for you.
- 25:08And I do think we've got to
- 25:09work on getting your immune
- 25:11system 100% again,
- 25:14getting you 100% again.
- 25:16And that's important.
- 25:17So a couple of things for
- 25:19this week is food diary.
- 25:24I was kind of checking into
- 25:25things a little bit and I
- 25:26didn't see much.
- 25:28It looked like you hadn't
- 25:28really logged a whole bunch.
- 25:30I haven't really been eating much.
- 25:32I can't.
- 25:34Every time I eat, my stomach blows up.
- 25:37Okay.
- 25:38All right.
- 25:39So here's what we need to do.
- 25:40Okay.
- 25:42I don't care if you're not
- 25:43eating much or you're
- 25:44eating your normal food.
- 25:46You got to get back to
- 25:47tracking your food because
- 25:48I got to be able to help
- 25:49you with your nutrition.
- 25:50All right.
- 25:51So 100% honesty in your food journal.
- 25:56Like that's got to happen
- 25:58because I also want to make
- 25:59sure that you're getting in
- 26:01enough micronutrients.
- 26:02You're getting in enough protein.
- 26:05Protein is one of the
- 26:06biggest factors in your immune system.
- 26:08It's not just the antioxidants.
- 26:11Protein does have a huge
- 26:12factor on your immune system.
- 26:13Okay.
- 26:15Fats have a huge factor on
- 26:16your immune system in terms
- 26:17of how they affect your
- 26:18neurotransmitters and your hormones.
- 26:20So we need to make sure that
- 26:21you're getting enough of that stuff.
- 26:23Are you taking your vitamin D?
- 26:25Okay, good,
- 26:26because vitamin D does help
- 26:27with the immune system, all right?
- 26:29So you're taking your vitamin D,
- 26:31Need to get back to food tracking.
- 26:33All right.
- 26:33So before I even give you
- 26:35parameters in terms of what
- 26:37I want to see in your meals,
- 26:38let's just spend the next
- 26:39three days and get back to
- 26:41actually tracking your food again, 100%.
- 26:42And then I'll take a look at
- 26:46what you're eating and we
- 26:47can start to kind of maybe
- 26:48I'll look at things on, let's say Tuesday,
- 26:50on Friday and see going
- 26:52into the weekend if I want
- 26:53to make any adjustments to
- 26:55what you're eating.
- 26:56You'd be like, hey, I'm feeling bloated.
- 26:57I'm feeling blah.
- 26:59You know,
- 26:59I think that right now bone broth
- 27:00soups is probably something
- 27:02that you should be having
- 27:03on a regular basis.
- 27:05You know,
- 27:05I know you like things like ramen.
- 27:08So making some ramen,
- 27:09but using bone broth.
- 27:11I had that last night.
- 27:13Yeah.
- 27:13I think that that's a great
- 27:14thing to increase the
- 27:16protein and also get you
- 27:18some of those that's good
- 27:20nutrients for your immune system.
- 27:22So I think that bone broth
- 27:24soups would be great for you right now.
- 27:25Really good for the gut as well.
- 27:27So I think that daily you
- 27:29should be maybe looking at
- 27:30maybe making a soup or
- 27:31something like that.
- 27:32It's still cold up there, right?
- 27:33Yeah.
- 27:34Yeah.
- 27:34Cheryl, it's still freaking cold.
- 27:36So that would be good.
- 27:38Um,
- 27:39and if you don't know a good
- 27:41brand the kettle and fire
- 27:42brand is good there's
- 27:43plenty of bone broths out
- 27:44there yeah um so let's make
- 27:47let's make get let's get in
- 27:49a cup of bone broth a day I
- 27:51think that that's one thing
- 27:52that you can can do in a
- 27:55soup in a stew in something
- 27:58okay tracking your food
- 28:00getting in a cup of bone broth a day.
- 28:03You're already taking your supplements.
- 28:04Okay.
- 28:05The next thing that we have
- 28:06to address is movement.
- 28:08All right.
- 28:09I get it.
- 28:10You don't feel good.
- 28:11Walking up the stairs is
- 28:12getting you winded.
- 28:14I don't want you doing CrossFit this week.
- 28:16I want you on that spin bike.
- 28:18I don't care if it's just
- 28:19for literally at a zone one with,
- 28:23with your mouth closed,
- 28:25just trying to breathe through your nose.
- 28:28Nasal breathing only.
- 28:30That's how intense I want it to be.
- 28:32That you should not have to
- 28:33open your mouth to breathe.
- 28:35I want you doing 20 to 30 minutes a day,
- 28:38every single day.
- 28:40Because those things right there,
- 28:42the bone broth, the food tracking,
- 28:45and the little bit of
- 28:46movement is going to get
- 28:48you starting to feel better.
- 28:49And it's going to help you
- 28:49kick that infection a little bit faster.
- 28:52It's going to get the mitochondria going.
- 28:54Mitochondria also help with
- 28:55the immune system.
- 28:58Okay.
- 28:59Phillip Kelly.
- 29:01Yes.
- 29:01Nasal breathing only.
- 29:02If you've ever tried it with
- 29:03something like burpees or
- 29:05kettlebell swings, it's even worse,
- 29:09even worse.
- 29:10But the bike is actually pretty bad.
- 29:12Okay.
- 29:14So actually where I'm
- 29:14getting the most air right now is nasal.
- 29:17That's so that's exactly good.
- 29:19It's good for you.
- 29:20So 20 to 30 minutes a day.
- 29:23I'll put it in trainer eyes
- 29:24as a thing you can check off.
- 29:25Actually do that right now.
- 29:28Um, I'm going to,
- 29:29I'm going to actually put a
- 29:30checklist for you right now.
- 29:32You'll have daily weigh in.
- 29:36You're going to have track
- 29:36your food and you're going
- 29:39to have 20 to 30 minutes of bike daily,
- 29:45because I think that those
- 29:46are the first things that
- 29:47we need to start with to
- 29:48kind of get you on the path to recovery.
- 29:52You know, I think that here's the deal.
- 29:54This goes for everybody.
- 29:56Stress and what you're
- 29:57dealing with is not easy at all,
- 30:00especially when it comes to
- 30:02family's health.
- 30:04But we can't change that stuff.
- 30:06The more we focus on it,
- 30:08the less we lose sight of
- 30:09the things that we can focus on.
- 30:11Like just being a support system,
- 30:13like being a sounding board
- 30:15when your sister calls you
- 30:16and she doesn't talk to you
- 30:17for two weeks and just listening.
- 30:20You know,
- 30:21and being a sounding board for your wife,
- 30:24you know,
- 30:25like that stuff is so important.
- 30:30So on your dashboard,
- 30:31you have daily weigh in,
- 30:34track your food and 20 to
- 30:3530 minute bike every single day.
- 30:38Oh, I forgot the bone broth.
- 30:40Can you do the bone broth?
- 30:41Are you comfortable with that?
- 30:45I like bone broth.
- 30:46Good.
- 30:48One, I'm going to put one to two cups.
- 30:53And that's probably going to
- 30:54be for a little while.
- 30:55I think your,
- 30:55I think your gut can use it
- 30:57as well for sure.
- 30:59Okay.
- 31:01So obviously I'm assuming
- 31:03that you didn't go and get
- 31:04any workouts in this week.
- 31:07Yeah, I didn't think so.
- 31:08Okay.
- 31:10So my goal this week is that
- 31:11obviously no gym or just
- 31:12getting those 20 to 30
- 31:13minute bike sessions in.
- 31:18to answer Corey, he asked,
- 31:21how long did they say?
- 31:21So the infection clears up.
- 31:23They said,
- 31:24I would start feeling better
- 31:25tonight if I could get the
- 31:27prescriptions in.
- 31:28And I did.
- 31:30Um, but it won't,
- 31:32I'm not going to feel
- 31:33myself for a couple of days.
- 31:34Yeah.
- 31:39Um,
- 31:39and then I think he wants to see me in
- 31:41five days because he doesn't know, like,
- 31:47This was just kind of a first step.
- 31:50And then, and it was an emergency visit.
- 31:52And then now we can start
- 31:54doing some more testing, stuff like that.
- 31:57Yeah.
- 31:58I feel like chest x-rays
- 32:00would be good just to make
- 32:00sure that you don't have pneumonia.
- 32:03Yeah,
- 32:03he did test me for that in some way
- 32:05and said he doesn't think I have it.
- 32:08Good.
- 32:10Well,
- 32:10I wrote down what our goals are for
- 32:12this week because that's important.
- 32:15More so,
- 32:16I'm really happy that you shared a
- 32:18little bit about what
- 32:18you've been going through
- 32:19personally because, you know,
- 32:21when it comes to nutrition, you know,
- 32:24if a person's brain isn't quite there,
- 32:29it's going to show up in
- 32:30their nutrition and their workouts.
- 32:33It's something that,
- 32:35and we can only hide it for
- 32:36so long before it ends up surfacing.
- 32:40So I'm happy that you did share.
- 32:45So,
- 32:47and I will be praying for your mom-in-law,
- 32:50for your sister,
- 32:51and also for your
- 32:52sister-in-law who doesn't
- 32:53know how to handle things
- 32:55as good as she could.
- 32:57Yeah.
- 32:58Yeah, that's,
- 33:01and maybe that'll be a
- 33:01conversation next week,
- 33:03but that's another complication.
- 33:05I'll tell you off the air
- 33:05and then we can decide if
- 33:07you want to talk about it next week.
- 33:08Again,
- 33:09the main thing here is all of those
- 33:12things in life are going to happen.
- 33:16You still have to go on.
- 33:19Your life has got to go on.
- 33:21In the words of Celine Dion,
- 33:23do not make me pull out my song, my song.
- 33:28Do not make me pull out my
- 33:29song because it would not be pretty.
- 33:31I did not grow up with a
- 33:33choir or chorus in mind for sure.
- 33:36Just, just kidding.
- 33:37But, um,
- 33:38I love this.
- 33:39I love what Judy just said.
- 33:43Post your stories each night
- 33:44so we can keep up.
- 33:48I will post a screenshot of his, if you,
- 33:51if he checks things off in
- 33:52trainer eyes for me,
- 33:54I will post it on the
- 33:55stories every single day
- 33:57that he does that.
- 33:59So he's got to check them
- 34:00off and on the honor system
- 34:02that he's actually doing
- 34:03them and not just checking them off,
- 34:05which I know that he will.
- 34:06I know he'll do them.
- 34:09I will call you and sing.
- 34:10My heart will go on.
- 34:11Scott, don't tempt me.
- 34:12Corey, you know,
- 34:13there is a calling number now.
- 34:15I mean, just saying,
- 34:17isn't there a calling number, Scott?
- 34:21It's not hooked up right now.
- 34:22I'm just kidding.
- 34:23I'm just kidding.
- 34:25But Kenneth wants to give you a hug.
- 34:28He really does.
- 34:29No.
- 34:30Yeah.
