- 0:19Speaker 1: As we gather together today on our This is the
- 0:22Speaker 1: Life podcast and get ready for our morning moments with Jesus,
- 0:25Speaker 1: we've spent the last couple of days talking about interruptions
- 0:29Speaker 1: that can come into our lives. Sometimes they come from
- 0:31Speaker 1: the Lord to kind of redirect us. Sometimes they come
- 0:35Speaker 1: from our enemy, Satan, to try to discourage us or
- 0:39Speaker 1: distract us from the path that the Lord has for us.
- 0:43Speaker 1: We know that there's a spiritual warfare going on all
- 0:46Speaker 1: the time when it comes to those things. But whatever
- 0:50Speaker 1: kind of day you had yesterday, the Lord really wants
- 0:53Speaker 1: to speak to you this morning to just get up
- 0:56Speaker 1: and start again fresh this morning. You know, yesterday may
- 1:00Speaker 1: not have gone according to the plans that you had.
- 1:03Speaker 1: Perhaps you became discouraged along the way yesterday. Maybe you
- 1:06Speaker 1: lost your patience. Amen. Maybe you made a poor decision
- 1:10Speaker 1: that you wish you could kind of go back and
- 1:12Speaker 1: do again. Maybe you just simply failed to accomplish all
- 1:16Speaker 1: the things that you intended to accomplish yesterday. We all
- 1:18Speaker 1: have those kind of days. But one difficult day does
- 1:22Speaker 1: not have to determine the direction of the next day.
- 1:24Speaker 1: And that's what the Lord really tells us in His
- 1:28Speaker 1: Word over and over again. In Lamentations chapter 3, verse
- 1:33Speaker 1: 22 and 23, I love this passage, this couple of
- 1:37Speaker 1: verses here. It simply says, It is of the Lord's
- 1:41Speaker 1: mercy that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not.
- 1:49Speaker 1: They are new every morning. Great is thy faithfulness. God's mercy. Mesa,
- 1:56Speaker 1: it's each morning with another opportunity. Every morning I get up,
- 2:00Speaker 1: I know that no matter what happened yesterday, I have
- 2:04Speaker 1: a brand new set of opportunities today that will never
- 2:08Speaker 1: come again like they come today. And so one of
- 2:11Speaker 1: the things that I really try to do, and I
- 2:14Speaker 1: pray that we can all say that we at least
- 2:16Speaker 1: try to do this, is we never let all the
- 2:19Speaker 1: things that happened yesterday or the day before or any
- 2:22Speaker 1: time in our past Kind of dictate where we go
- 2:26Speaker 1: from there. See it's not necessarily. Trying to start your
- 2:31Speaker 1: whole life over. If things didn't go the way they.
- 2:34Speaker 1: The way you had planned them to yesterday. But to
- 2:37Speaker 1: begin from where you are. This morning. Just get up
- 2:41Speaker 1: this morning. It's what the Lord is telling us. Just
- 2:43Speaker 1: get up this morning. And take the next faithful step.
- 2:47Speaker 1: No matter what happened yesterday. Take the next faithful step today. Yesterday. Yesterday.
- 2:53Speaker 1: It may explain how you feel this morning, but it
- 2:56Speaker 1: does not have the authority to decide what you do
- 3:00Speaker 1: with your next step. See, sometimes we carry yesterday into
- 3:05Speaker 1: today without even realizing it. We wake up still thinking
- 3:10Speaker 1: about what went wrong, what we should have said, what
- 3:13Speaker 1: we failed to do, what we did say that we
- 3:16Speaker 1: should have not said, and how differently we wish things
- 3:20Speaker 1: would have turned out. And before a new day, if
- 3:23Speaker 1: we're not careful, before a new day has even had
- 3:26Speaker 1: the opportunity to begin, we have already filled it with
- 3:30Speaker 1: yesterday's disappointments. Have you ever done that? I think we
- 3:35Speaker 1: all have been guilty from time to time at some
- 3:37Speaker 1: level of bringing too much of yesterday into today. But see,
- 3:43Speaker 1: the Bible tells us that God's compassions are new every morning. See,
- 3:49Speaker 1: that means today comes with a fresh set of mercy.
- 3:53Speaker 1: It comes with another opportunity maybe to listen, to learn more,
- 3:57Speaker 1: to grow more, but to always be moving forward. God
- 4:02Speaker 1: did not wake you up this morning to relive yesterday,
- 4:06Speaker 1: but you can learn from it. See, beginning again does
- 4:09Speaker 1: not mean pretending that mistakes never happened. There may be
- 4:14Speaker 1: something that you need to correct today. There may be
- 4:18Speaker 1: an apology you need to offer. There may be a
- 4:21Speaker 1: lesson that you can carry with you into today. But
- 4:26Speaker 1: listen to me close this morning, because when the Lord
- 4:28Speaker 1: really spoke this into my spirit this morning, it kind
- 4:31Speaker 1: of just really brought everything into perspective for me. There
- 4:35Speaker 1: is a difference between learning from yesterday and continuing to
- 4:41Speaker 1: live with the regrets of yesterday. There's a difference between
- 4:46Speaker 1: learning from yesterday and continuing to live with the regrets
- 4:51Speaker 1: of yesterday. See, God can use what happened to teach
- 4:56Speaker 1: us without allowing it to define us. I love that.
- 5:02Speaker 1: We sometimes believe that if we cannot go back and
- 5:05Speaker 1: do it again and do it perfectly, then there's no
- 5:08Speaker 1: reason to try again. But please understand this this morning.
- 5:12Speaker 1: God's faithfulness is greater than your failure's. And His mercy
- 5:17Speaker 1: is stronger than your regrets. The sun rising this morning
- 5:22Speaker 1: is a reminder that darkness does not last forever. A
- 5:28Speaker 1: new day does not erase everything behind you, but it
- 5:33Speaker 1: gives you another place from which to move forward. I
- 5:38Speaker 1: hope that's a blessing to you this morning. We may
- 5:41Speaker 1: take some memories, some lessons, and yeah, even some scars
- 5:44Speaker 1: with us. But we do not have to carry yesterday's
- 5:48Speaker 1: condemnation or regrets. So this morning. Take a deep breath.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Take a little time. And give yesterday to God. Receive
- 6:01Speaker 1: the mercy he has provided for you today. You may
- 6:05Speaker 1: not be able to change what has already happened. But
- 6:09Speaker 1: with God's help. You can choose what you do next.
- 6:14Speaker 1: And that's a big step. So today you be safe,
- 6:18Speaker 1: you be strong, and you be blessed. Lord, we will
- 6:21Speaker 1: see you back here again tomorrow. Have a great day.
