- 0:13Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Hello, Hey there, it's been
- 1:06a little while. Nice to see everyone. And your makeup is on point
- 1:15tonight. Oh it is, thank you. I haven't worn makeup in a
- 1:19while. Felt good. Yeah. I like the red. I like the
- 1:23red. Here blonde, Buddhist, Hello, Terry High, Jaded Hello,
- 1:30Lama. Captain bells that it was belligain the Captain if I didn't say it
- 1:42jaded High. Look lovely you are? You are? Oh fabulous? I
- 1:52will take you. Yes, it has been a rash. I'm practicing for
- 1:59our meet up. Been denver with the makeup because you know I'm gonna do
- 2:04your I'm super psyched. Let's see here, I think do you want to
- 2:12do? You want to announce the I honestly think he's gonna be the mascot
- 2:17of our show. So are you talking about the new addition to my family?
- 2:24Yes, you just tell me when you want me to put up the
- 2:27photo. So double h. I've been begging to add to our family for
- 2:34a year because I was having that I needed a baby. Let's be honest,
- 2:39I needed a baby. I just need it. And he gave in
- 2:46to me. And our new edition was born on Sunday and he will get
- 2:52to come home on Tuesday to live with that. So he was an Easter
- 2:55baby and he'll be home on Tuesday. And if you want to show everybody
- 3:01his picture, you can. I shall meet Jasper. I got a kid,
- 3:12that's right, a goat. He's a dwarf Nigerian goat. Can I
- 3:24tell you? I love the fact that you have Jasper the goat and I
- 3:28have Casper the dog. Oh maybe that's where I got it from. Because
- 3:31I saw him and I was like Jasper. Because originally I had said I
- 3:35was going to name whatever goat I got Peppermint, and I saw him and
- 3:38I was like, oh, Jasper. So now we have Jasper and Casper.
- 3:45So I think jazz. First off, Jasper and Casper should be should
- 3:52be best friends. But also, y'all, I think Jasper needs to be
- 3:59our official mascot for the show. I agree because the reason I got him,
- 4:04they actually can be trained like dogs. He'll be bottle fed for several
- 4:10months by me the mama, and he will sleep in pajamas. So if
- 4:15anybody wants to send him infant pajamas, feel free, he will need them.
- 4:19Because I keep my room sixty two degrees at night, and he will
- 4:25go in and out the pet door, and he will be part of our
- 4:30family. About his harness today, his leash. Look at those eyeballs ete
- 4:40so sweet. I'm so excited. I really wanted to bring him home today
- 4:45and I could have, since you know he's being bottle fed. You can
- 4:47take them after two days. But we're going to be out at the ranch
- 4:53for the solar eclipse this weekend with eight dogs, and I decided that might
- 4:58be a little much for him. Yeah, so I don't I don't know.
- 5:02I don't know much about the stress levels or anxiety levels of goats,
- 5:06but I would imagine a new place plus six dogs, plus everything else going
- 5:11on. Eight the sun's gonna be blocked, is gonna freak everything out.
- 5:15So yeah, eight dogs, eight that's right, because our neighbors, you
- 5:20know, who were going to they're gonna be But yeah, I, oh,
- 5:26what's a baby Bjorn? What's that the I think it's the cart,
- 5:30isn't it? Kevin? Can he sleep on a heated pad like a new
- 5:34like newborn puppies do? He can, but it's not cold enough for that
- 5:42because it's only sixty two. He could just sleep under a blanket. So
- 5:45he doesn't get chilled. If it was like thirty degrees, he would need
- 5:47a little heat and pad like, he will not be able to sleep outside
- 5:51in the hammock with me. This is the baby Bjorn. Oh my god,
- 5:59I should absolutely need that because I was gonna get one of those cloth
- 6:02things that you put him in that they can just adorable. I can't wait,
- 6:14I can't it's the best. Oh he already licked me and kissed me
- 6:25and I held him for an hour and a half today. No, yeah,
- 6:30I couldn't wait. See, I need to get one because I need
- 6:32to wear him and that because he'll get fed by his bottles several times a
- 6:36day. So I will officially be on kit duty literally literally, Africam.
- 6:47We have eight or nine cameras at the house, so I can definitely share
- 6:55camera footage from when he's outside or in the kitchen. I'm not putting a
- 6:59camera my beach. Yes. Oh, he already he did a little hop
- 7:06and he shook his little tail and I just melted. And I already have
- 7:12diapers for him. Oh yeah, I guess, So I guess that's not
- 7:18necessary. Huh yeah, well just while he's training, just while he's training,
- 7:27so he will be our mascot. I might even have to make him
- 7:32a little shirt that says true crime and one time on it. Oh my
- 7:36gosh, I love it so much. Well, so he will be on
- 7:43our next live stream. He will be right here in my lab. I'm
- 7:47so excited. So I've got silly, ridiculous news. And I know you
- 7:54have one that we briefly talked about before we went live. What would you
- 7:58like? And then and then we'll get into our like actual theme, which
- 8:03are crappy husbands. What why don't we do my one first? Because then
- 8:13your silly ones can put us back lighthearted. Because okay, I need people
- 8:16to help me understand how what's happening is happening. I'm sure everybody has heard
- 8:24about Riley Strain, the young college student who went missing after attending my other
- 8:31husband, or my cheat husband, Luke Bryan's bar in Nashville. He went
- 8:37missing and they found him in the Lake river water. They said there was
- 8:43no foul play and he drowned. But guys, he wasn't wearing his jeans,
- 8:50his boots, and his wallet wasn't found and there was no water in
- 8:54his lungs. So his parents are getting a second autopsy done by an independent
- 9:00person because I have to say I agree with the parents. How can it
- 9:05be accidental if he didn't have his pants on or his cowboy boots and they
- 9:09weren't found on the bank anywhere. I mean, how could that be an
- 9:16accident? And there's no water in his lungs because he would have had to
- 9:26taken off his boots and his pants. But he didn't have his wallet.
- 9:33Somebody took it because his credit card was found somewhere else. So I'm just
- 9:39going to go out and say, in my honest opinion, it be suspicious.
- 9:46Yeah, very suspicious. It reminds me of the guy and the guys
- 9:52that they keep finding here in Austin and Ladybird Lake. One of the guys
- 9:56they said who drowned. His hands were tape, his mouth was duct taped,
- 10:03and they said it was accidental drowning. Those people should like lose their
- 10:11ability to Yeah, because if you had shorts on and flip flops, the
- 10:18water could take your shoes, but cowboy boots. If you've ever worn cowboy
- 10:24boots, that's the reason why they make devices for you to put your foot
- 10:26in to take them off and looking at the videos of how drunk he was,
- 10:31he would have just thrown them on the side of the you know,
- 10:35so I'm gonna stay suspicious. So I like the fact that his family is
- 10:41saying they're going to get an independent autopsy. And guys, let's be honest,
- 10:48cops are not always right. They are still humans, so are medical
- 10:50examiners. So I think more to come on that one. Correct, Oh
- 11:01yeah, no, and uh, I'm sure you will keep up with that
- 11:05one. I can't keep on. Yeah. Holly just said she her sister
- 11:09one time slapping her boots because she was too drunk to take them off.
- 11:15I will neither confirm nor deny. I might have done that multiple times in
- 11:22my younger days. If you're if you're if you're super drunk and you don't
- 11:28want to take your boots off or whatever, just add one more shot at
- 11:33tequila close off and you're good. You're said, Oh no, I take
- 11:37off everything but the boots and jeans because I couldn't get the boots off.
- 11:43But I took off the top half because I was too drunk to get the
- 11:45boots off. So I had to sleep in my geese and they were called
- 11:48rocky mountains back in the day. I don't know if I don't know,
- 11:52if I have ever been too drunk to d shoe. Yeah, okay,
- 12:00I just confirmed it. He did. I just if you have one jeans,
- 12:07you have to leave them on. You have to both said had Rockies.
- 12:16Oh my god, they made my butt look good. They do Rockies
- 12:22where they like bought out or they're no longer. Oh, I don't.
- 12:26I don't know. I grew up in had kids. I don't know.
- 12:33I had them in all colors. I even had some that had the little
- 12:37chap flaps. Yeah, they were the same. These are not I just
- 12:43typed in Rockies jeans. I'm not seeing anything Rockies. I'm seeing things that
- 12:46are like Rockies jeans. Yeah, so I don't know. I'm old now.
- 12:52I wear jeans with lack ryan them I wears. I like those jeans
- 12:58that are straight. Yeah, I'm a fan. Hey, Sam oh Man,
- 13:07Well, by the way, you're silly thing. Have we officially announced
- 13:13everybody where we're going to be in July celebrating my birthday? No, I
- 13:22don't know if I have. I don't think we have. So why don't
- 13:26you share that wonderful news since you're going to be two timing that we get
- 13:35it's going to be a threesome. Guy, It's going to be a threesome.
- 13:41Two timer is a lovely kiss song. Okay, So we are going
- 13:48to be at the True Crime and Paranormal Podcast Festival. It is going to
- 13:52be from July twelfth to fourteenth, and it is in Denver, Colorado at
- 13:58the Denver Mary at Westminster Hotel. Hell, we're really excited about it.
- 14:03I'm doubly excited because Brewe Crime is also there, So we're gonna get tables
- 14:07that are next to each other. I'm just gonna kind of sit right awkwardly
- 14:09in the middle and hopefully get kisses from both sides. Terry and Mike.
- 14:15That's right the same time. And I'm gonna make you a shirt that's half
- 14:18brue Crime and a half True Crime and wine time. And since the week
- 14:24before my birthday, we're gonna do some shots. Shot shot shot shot,
- 14:30shot shots. I'm gonna die. Hey, at least we will not have
- 14:35cowboy boots on and we won't have far to walk upstairs to our hotel room.
- 14:43Bossy Brunette, you should come on down and celebrate with us. We'll
- 14:46buy you a shot up way up, way up, You're down south?
- 14:54Oh, I guess that is a be, isn't it. You're not wrong.
- 15:00Make him a bunch of shirts so he can just keep taking them off
- 15:03to reveal another. You know, I can't even make you pasties for when
- 15:11you take off the final shirt. Perfect. Perfect. Yes we will do
- 15:20some live streaming, Yes, yeah, we definitely will. I actually just
- 15:26got the new old refurbished laptop that I bought in the mail, and I
- 15:31think that I'll be able to stream off of that. So I'll be bringing
- 15:35probably my microphone and a couple other things. I just got to make sure
- 15:41that they all plug in correctly. But what right? What would What would
- 15:48be cool is that when we were in the exhibition room, I was able
- 15:52to set stuff up and we were able just to go live from there.
- 15:56Would be kind of cool. Oh yeah, I'm bringing my Mac, my
- 16:00microphone. I'm even bringing my professional camera in case we want to take some
- 16:06professional photos of I tripod. You need to finish that sentence, because you
- 16:10said a professional photo to take head shots. Head shots. Oh, Angie,
- 16:18that would be awesome, That would be amazing. So I am very
- 16:23excited the three of us will be together yes, and so just to let
- 16:30you know, it's gonna have live recordings of podcast episodes, crossover collabse,
- 16:34panel discussions as well some of the podcasts that are coming, Voices for Justice
- 16:41Canadian True Crime, Generation, Why the Trail Went Cold, True Sorry,
- 16:48Crime Lines, and of course True Crime, Wine Time and Brew Crime,
- 16:55and there's a ton oh True Consequences will be there. So Eric will be
- 17:02there. Eric was on the Old Headshots is not vetery anyway, so Eric
- 17:10will be there. Eric was on Night Court for an interview to talk about
- 17:14his brother. Also, Defense Diaries will be there as well, so Bob
- 17:18Mada will be there. I'll try and get him on a live in some
- 17:22way, shape or form. There's just so many there's so many podcasts,
- 17:27and then of course if you're into the paranormal, there's a few of those
- 17:30coming as well. There's just a lot of cool stuff that's going to be
- 17:33had, So come on now seems like a good time. Also, that
- 17:41will also be the week after we have the event for the seven year anniversary
- 17:47of Chase Lackey going missing. And I've already talked with his parents and gotten
- 17:52permission to share photos and things about the Chase case and updates and share a
- 18:00little bit more information. We won't do it on the live, but for
- 18:03anyone that's there in person, you will get to see a little bit of
- 18:07the inside working and some of the documents because I will be bringing at all
- 18:15with me. And that reason I'm doing that is because I am getting in
- 18:19a day early since there are some ties to Denver with his disappearance. I'm
- 18:26gonna go do some skulking around. It's gonna it's gonna be cool because just
- 18:33like it'll be my first time seeing a lot of people, it'll be my
- 18:34first our first time meeting and Mike, and my first time I in like
- 18:41four years. I just I just went down South Estate and met up with
- 18:48a couple of mods uh that are here on our channel and got to meet
- 18:52them and that was cool. So we had a good time. Uh.
- 18:57It's always it's always a weird, you know, it's less weird nowadays to
- 19:02meet folks that you've known online as long as you're safe about it. You
- 19:03know, it happens way more often. But you know, it had been
- 19:07a year and I was like, I think they're not going to murder me.
- 19:10They might, but hopefully they know how to do it and get away
- 19:12with it. At least get away with it. That's all I'm saying.
- 19:15Maybe it worth it. Well, I will say today when I went to
- 19:22go meet the rancher where Jasper was born. As I'm driving there, I'm
- 19:29talking to one of my gaze and I tell him, just so you know,
- 19:33I don't know the guy's last name, and I did not do a
- 19:36background check on him. And I'm driving eight miles down a farm road and
- 19:41there are no people, and it's a little scary, and I was like,
- 19:47so, please keep track of where I am in case I go missing
- 19:52and I get buried by the goats or the pigs. M mmmmmmm. But
- 19:59he's athlete anyway, I don't. I don't know where to go from.
- 20:07I know of like, I didn't get murdered, You didn't get murdered.
- 20:10It's all good. Uh oh, you met the mod most likely it's true,
- 20:17it's true. Luckily she likes me. Okay. So in terms of
- 20:25some ridiculous news, we always think about Punk Satani, Punk Satani, Puck
- 20:30Satani, whatever, Phil the Groundhog, we always think about him, see
- 20:33in his shadow, predicting that stuff. Not you're not double never mind.
- 20:41So we always think about what he does, but we never think about his
- 20:45life other than that appearance. It's like we only care about that. So
- 20:49as of March twenty eighth, twenty twenty four, let's see where it is.
- 20:56So Phil has a wife who's a groundhog. Obviously that's really stupid.
- 21:03I shouldn't have to clarify that. But her name is no. Do not
- 21:07take that. I mean he could be married to a mole. You're right,
- 21:14You're right, I shouldn't. I shouldn't. Yeah, I don't.
- 21:18I'm not quite sure what phrase would go where they're do not stereotype him?
- 21:22Do not stereotype him? Right? Well, Phyllis and Phil have become parents.
- 21:30Phyllis gave birth to two healthy babies. Didn't specify their sex or give
- 21:33names for either. He's to announce that Puck Satani Phil has had his first
- 21:38children, and we believe they are two baby groundhogs. We believe there are,
- 21:45and that Phil and Phillis have started a family. They said, we're
- 21:48pleased about it, and I talked to Phil with my kid. I talked
- 21:52to Phil with my cane, which lets me speak groundhog ees and Phil could
- 21:56not be more excited. About his family starting and now we will never ever
- 22:04know what the whether it's going to be longer winter or not, because he's
- 22:08going to be sleeping. He'll be so tired because of the kids. You
- 22:12know that that's true. I have to tell you a groundhog is one animal
- 22:18I've never wanted to own, you know, yeah, probably not the teeth.
- 22:25I have mole issues that we've had to deal with. Yeah, yeah,
- 22:32they destroy your yard. I need I need an an race series about
- 22:37Phil. I do have to agree. How are these his first children or
- 22:45is he a late bloomer? And he finally settled down because he's just been
- 22:48sewing his oats all these years. I mean maybe you know, he was
- 22:52really focused on his career. You know, he's getting to the big he's
- 22:55getting into the big hole, you know, and that's that was you know,
- 22:59that's where he's televised and excited. So he was working real hard.
- 23:02He finally settled down after he had been there and he realized that he needed
- 23:07something more. It just wasn't enough. So that's Phil. Now we're thinking
- 23:12about Phil in the off season of Phil, which is literally any other day
- 23:18except for Groundhog Day. Now, Phil's having a great day. This guy
- 23:23is not a Long Island scientist copped to running a breaking bad style meth lab
- 23:29that initially landed on police's radar when he called about a break in at the
- 23:32facility last year. He's twenty three. He accidentally called the cops on himself
- 23:37when he dialed nine to one one around three thirty am June seventh to report
- 23:41a burglary in progress at his purported this is the word ron con coma Ronkonkoma
- 23:49Establishment Quantitative Laboratories LLC. When they reached the scene, they found broken glass
- 23:56at the entrance of the lab, a facility that they eventually realized was sekly
- 24:00manufacturing and pumping out meth and other controlled substances, including the hallucinogenic dimethyl triptomine.
- 24:08Uh, he's what you what you would think he would look like.
- 24:12I'll show you in a second. He's definitely got this dexter look to him.
- 24:18But that's not the point. He didn't kill anybody who's running a meth
- 24:21lab. He had more than one hundred items of lab equipment. He had
- 24:25three ounces of meth, six hundred and twenty five five thousand milligrams of pure
- 24:29ketamine and twenty plastic jugs of gamma gamma buttle but toolactone GBL, which is
- 24:37OH which is similar to the date rape drug GHB. Yeah, and they
- 24:41also sees forty thousand dollars. He was literally operating a breaking bad style drug
- 24:48lab and try to conceal it under the guise of a legitimate business. That
- 24:52so insane until in called nine one one. Right. Though he admitted to
- 25:02manufacturing the potent and deadly drugs, his lawyer attempted to paint a positive picture
- 25:06of his client. Of course he did. That's your job. Attorney David
- 25:08Besso, in case you guys want to never hire him, told Newsday his
- 25:12client is a quote brilliant scientist who is examining drug addiction for the public good,
- 25:18and denied he sold meth out of a lab. Sir, sir,
- 25:23sir, let me see here, let me open this picture him. I'm
- 25:30going to just say, that's not a good spin job. Nobody's buying that
- 25:34story. Oh Ella, what a champ. He had run a lab or
- 25:45he was gonna drive a white unmarked boss. There was no in between.
- 25:49He had those two options. Yes, uh so, last, last,
- 25:56but not least, This Tennessee Mom as of April fourth, reminds me of
- 26:00you, why because here we go. Tennessee mom turns in teen sons after
- 26:07seeing them on wanted poster for allegedly shooting at a cop, and she is
- 26:11quoted as saying, hell no, that would be me, not not no,
- 26:17but hell no, And I would. I would drive them there,
- 26:21and I would their first certificate, their toothbrush d yes to teach them a
- 26:32lesson. After she spotted them on a wanted poster, she goes, I'm
- 26:36like, are you serious? Ah? Hell no? Uh for shooting at
- 26:45a police officer? Oh yeah, definitely, She goes, I don't play
- 26:49no games with them. If you want to do the crime, you gotta
- 26:52do the time, plain and simple, she said, explaining that despite her
- 26:56tough love stance, the situation was very emotional for her. Kids are seventeen
- 27:00and eighteen, and they're accused of firing two bullets at a pursuing police officer
- 27:04after they allegedly fled from him during a traffic stop, and then they fled
- 27:11into the woods on foot after firing the shots, and their faces were later
- 27:15captured on a nearby residence's door camera. Well the boys job. Mom.
- 27:26Let's see, they were charged with aggravated assault of a police officer. Good.
- 27:33They've interviewed a third person of interest, but they haven't charged them.
- 27:37I just think it's hysterical that she was like, oh hell no, oh
- 27:41no. I so many parents are like, oh, I mean I just
- 27:48read a story this morning about the kid who was one of the kids who
- 27:55helped beat up and kill a kid. The parents took them to his cat.
- 28:00I've been to let his hands heal so he wouldn't get caught. No,
- 28:03you don't cover up your kid's crime. You turn them in, because
- 28:08how are you going to teach them to do the right thing. So a
- 28:14funny story, and I will not share the video. I talking about turning
- 28:19in your children, how about turning in your grandson? When you ask Double
- 28:26H. Grandson when he was here for spring break, fell and hurt himself.
- 28:30So I asked Double H. I said, hey, will you pull
- 28:33up one of the cameras out front and see if we caught him when he
- 28:36fell. I want to see exactly how he fell. He's like, no,
- 28:40he goes he was around the rose bush. But I did catch him
- 28:44pulling down his pants and taking a leak into his Tonka dump truck, pushing
- 28:51it around and then dumping it on the grass. So me, being the
- 28:56grandmother, I am, I'm a good ball mall. When he was here
- 28:59for Easter this past weekend, I said, hey, I said, you
- 29:03know how Mama tells you that to be a good person, that means even
- 29:08when you think no one's looking, you have to do the right thing.
- 29:11He goes ah. I said, well, let me show you this video
- 29:15Paul found and I showed him the video and he looked at me and he
- 29:21goes uh oh. I said, m hmm. I said, you can't
- 29:25be doing that. And I didn't let him play. I didn't let him
- 29:33play with that truck the entire weekend. I told him he was grounded from
- 29:37it for his improper use of it. Listen, my uncle always told me
- 29:45be good or be good at it, just just get good. That's all.
- 29:48Just get good. You know what he could have done was disguise himself
- 29:53like this person. This this the story comes a courtesy of Angie. But
- 29:57I'm just gonna hit this video. I don't have audio playing because I don't
- 30:00want to get cut. But let's take a look at this real fast So
- 30:07this person is going to steal a package off of a off of a porch
- 30:11and he is in a trash bag in order to avoid detection. Look look
- 30:19at this. Look at this moving trap. It looks like e T with
- 30:22the with the robe on. Oh by god, that is hilarious. You
- 30:38know what. They don't know who he is, right, well, I
- 30:41don't know. Let's see a person who was taking a package off of somebody's
- 30:47porch obviously had a hair brain scheme, but it worked. So it's starting
- 30:55to make the rounds because it captures the thief who disguised himself as a trash
- 30:59bag, but one of them on the move. So trash the owner said
- 31:06he couldn't believe his eyes thinking someone was playing a prank on him. At
- 31:08first, I was kind of angry at uh, it was something I was
- 31:11expecting. It was something I was expecting. But at the end of the
- 31:15day it was kind of funny. Unclear if he saw this out the fact
- 31:18or watching in the act. In any case, he's not really been out
- 31:22of shape about it, so they don't know who this person is. There
- 31:26wasn't really a loss to it, but I'm quite fascinated to see if they
- 31:29ever figured this out. So that made me so happy. Oh oh,
- 31:33that's that's unfortunate. I did read another, like one last story about this
- 31:41guy was a shoe collector who was having problems with porch pirates and decided that
- 31:45he was going to get them and so he basically filled an entire shoe box
- 31:49with poop and they Yeah, so it's really funny. Yeah, So anyways,
- 31:57Crazy Stories. Was that guy in the trash bag in Florida by any
- 32:06chance? Because that looks like it should be a Friday Florida man thing.
- 32:12All right, hold on, let me let me just check. I'll make
- 32:14sure. Uh Sacramento, California. Oh darn, that is such a Florida
- 32:23thing. I would think it is very much a Florida thing. I don't
- 32:30know that means. That's all I gotta say about that. All I know.
- 32:35All I want to say is that package couldn't have been very big to
- 32:39fit underneath there. It didn't look very big. I hope it was something
- 32:43good. That's what she said. Yeah, okay, it was. It
- 32:52was staring me in the face, and that's also what she said. So
- 32:57who am I going for doing? For you? Are? But first,
- 33:00what are you drinking. Oh yeah, that's probably gonna be important to know
- 33:06by the end of this. So I found I like to do the combo
- 33:09like you can pick your own beers because I get a good chance, like
- 33:14taste of everything. Bobby said, the other Florida these days, maybe an
- 33:21Ohio thing. You're not wrong. We keep clicking the same thing. Okay,
- 33:28So this is Beules Beer. It's based out of Bedford, Virginia,
- 33:31so down the road, but not really. It is called the Rainbow Connection.
- 33:35It's a New England i PA. So that's one of the things that
- 33:38I have drinking. And this I p A has like orange pineapple, peach
- 33:44guava. It's actually really good. It's probably one of the smoothest i pas
- 33:45I've ever had. But then I got these for missus Bruce Crime, and
- 33:52I was like, well, let me put these on, because why not.
- 33:54We're not sponsored by them Indian giver, Right, that's that's what I
- 34:01am. No, this was a oh bottle of wine. No, uh,
- 34:07next thing? That was the next thing? All right already, Well
- 34:14before I tell you that, you have to try if you can find it.
- 34:17The peach Shiner box is really good. Well, I'll have to check
- 34:23that out. Yeah. So because we're going to the ranch this weekend,
- 34:28I did not want to buy several bottles of wine. So I've been hearing
- 34:32about black Box seven Young Blocks, So I bought a box and I'm trying
- 34:37it tonight and I have to say, this is damn good. And we're
- 34:44not sponsored by them, Yeah, but this is damn good. I was
- 34:49worried. I was like, oh boy, it's not gonna be great,
- 34:52but I'll try it. No, it's good. What is kat you know
- 35:00there? Mrleoa? I had there Merloau in a box and that was it
- 35:04was. I thought I thought it was gonna be chalky, because sometimes Marlow
- 35:07in a box canna be chalky because it's heavy to begin with. It was
- 35:09decent. They did a good job. I thought this. I I really
- 35:15thought it was not going to be great. And either I'm getting old and
- 35:20my taste putts will just take anything. But I like it and the other
- 35:24thing I like double h can't tell how much I'm drinking since it's in a
- 35:29box. Heyo, it is always a plus and it's an a black box.
- 35:37So I will be drinking this during the solar eclipse. Uh, Captain,
- 35:45Yes, I believe so, and they're also, uh, it's made.
- 35:50I believe it's at least distributed in Virginia. It's no, I think
- 35:53it's it's produced in Nolla's for Virginia. That sounds like a made up name,
- 36:00doesn't it. It does? See Where's Where's Where's Nelly'sford? Oh,
- 36:12it's just yeah, No, I've been in that general area. It's just
- 36:15southwest of Charlottesville cool, right around the road. Yeah. So that's what
- 36:22we're drinking. That's what we're drinking. And I will not get as intoxicated
- 36:28as I did the last live stream because that's spicy water moo. Not the
- 36:36next day it wasn't. I was hurting. Is that the same night that
- 36:45went through a bottle? Yes? Oh man, I'm ready for your case
- 36:52because I don't know your case. So uh, some folks who are here,
- 37:00just because I know their background of remembering everything, will know this case.
- 37:04Our theme tonight is husband's under suspicion. But the reality is this is
- 37:12just an asshole. So I said, I called it like sas size it.
- 37:21Okay, So I'm I'm to begin with there's a quote from the perpetrator's
- 37:30family's press release, and so it says, there is no such thing as
- 37:35a harmless lie, no matter how small it is. You may think a
- 37:37lie only hurts the liar, but this is far from the truth. If
- 37:40you are traveling a path of lies, please stop now and face the consequences.
- 37:45Whatever those consequences, they will be better than the pain you are causing
- 37:49yourself and others. I really like that quote because this comes down to lies.
- 37:58So hello, don't go back home. So okay, we're talking about
- 38:05a pos is what you're saying, Yes, pos named not like my not
- 38:10like my wonderful w h no, no, let me get no. Mark
- 38:17Hacking is Mark Hacking is a you'll see. Okay. So there are a
- 38:25lot of deadbeat husbands, ex husbands, estranged husbands. We've heard about some
- 38:30of husbands on this show, you know, And and I really thought that
- 38:36I had heard some of the worst of the worst. But Mark Hacking takes
- 38:37the cake, eats it and ships it out too. He's a prick,
- 38:44That's right. He did all this. I said. I was in a
- 38:45weird mood when I wrote this, So, okay, have like coin.
- 38:49Do you have proof of that? I do not, But by the end
- 38:54of this I'm sure that was another piece of evidence the police found. Because
- 38:58this guy's an idiot. So there's so many reasons. But let's kind of
- 39:04take a step back from the moment. Mark Hacking and Lourie k sores Met.
- 39:09I'm starting to think it's Suarez, but I'm gonna go with sores Met.
- 39:13They were inseparable. Mark was twenty eight, Laurie was one year younger.
- 39:19In Lake Pale, Utah, in nineteen ninety four. Their lives were
- 39:22changed forever. During their ten years together up until two thousand and four,
- 39:28friends and family saw them as a wonderful couple. They had a strong intimate
- 39:32relationship, and around the same time they were gearing up for a move,
- 39:36Mark was planning on attending medical school at UNC Chapel Hill in North Carolina.
- 39:42Now keep that in the forefront, back wherever you want to put it.
- 39:45Remember that on July nineteenth, two thousand and four, Laurie went out and
- 39:52she did not return. Around ten am, Mark called her office at Wells
- 39:55Fargo in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was a trading assistant coworker let
- 40:00him know that she never made it into work, which was super unusual.
- 40:04She was always punctual, which in short on time to your job, because
- 40:08it's a good way for people to tell right away that something happened to you
- 40:13or you know, probably because you should be on time to work. But
- 40:19I mean, I feel like that's one of the best ways that you can
- 40:22prove that somebody's missing is to have a professional setting. Say they were always
- 40:27punctual. If they needed to call out, they called out ahead of time.
- 40:30This is weird, I agree, Like you and me, they'd be
- 40:37like, yeah, know, they're late all the time. I got kids,
- 40:45I got kids, I got life, I got hell. You know,
- 40:51we're special, super super duper special. So, upon realizing that something
- 40:58might be wrong, Glorieu revisor took the phone spoke with Mark. Mark told
- 41:01him that Laurie went jogging that morning, but she hadn't returned home. So
- 41:07the next logical step called the police. So Mark did just that seven minutes
- 41:12later. Now when he called, he let the police know the same thing,
- 41:15said that she went jogging the route she did in order or he went
- 41:19jogging the route she did in order to look for her. He said he
- 41:22found the car at the entrance, but there was no sign of LORII.
- 41:25Apparently, they told him they were going to look into it, or they
- 41:29gave him the brush off. Why well, he called the police a second
- 41:31time around ten forty nine, and he asked again for assistance in finding his
- 41:35wife. So my question is, what are we used to law enforcement saying
- 41:39about missing people. They have the right to go missing, that's one of
- 41:45them. Yeah, Or they have a certain amount of time before they start
- 41:49looking, they have to wait twenty four. I feel like that's changed a
- 41:57lot. This is two thousand and four, which unfortunately is twenty years ago,
- 42:04which hurts my that Wait, wait, what did you just say?
- 42:09Give four was twenty years ago? No, it wasn't, honey, it
- 42:13was ten years ago. You don't math remember, I do. It's twenty
- 42:19twenty four, I said, two thousand and four, followed me, I
- 42:22know, but you're killing me. That means I'm okay enough, Yeah,
- 42:32I'm enough. Time is an illusion, Captain, You are correct. Time
- 42:40is an illusion. Oh yeah, we can we can do that for sure.
- 42:45Okay, is monkey button in the building. I don't know if she's
- 42:51jumped on yet, but I just got an she will be joining I will.
- 42:54She's gonna say hi, okay, okay, cool um okay. So
- 43:02Okay, so I'm in love with I'm twenty eight and holding. Someone says
- 43:14twenty eight and holding. That's true. It's true. Okay, so he
- 43:21called the police. He called the police a second time. You know,
- 43:24they basically told him quote they generally responded to missing person's calls after twenty four
- 43:29hours, and suggested he call hospitals in the jail. Honest hoestly, no
- 43:34matter how I feel about this, dude, that's kind of an FT up
- 43:37response. I've never understood why when they tell you the first forty eight hours
- 43:46are the most critical, but yet you've got to wait. That's like I've
- 43:51never, i wrote here in my life, have understood that truly. I
- 43:58mean, they say the first forty eight or and vertibly important. I would
- 44:00assume that actually comes from statistics in finding a missing person. So why the
- 44:04heck are you removing fifty percent of your time? Like I understand, it's
- 44:08not easy to redirect a ton of like personnel, right, you can't just
- 44:12pull them all off to this. You can't do that all the time.
- 44:15But like, ah, like send somebody out to at least talk to the
- 44:22person or investigate the area. I don't understand it's weird. You know,
- 44:30some law enforcement in some counties and cities they still follow that role. In
- 44:35twenty twenty four, I was just listening to another podcast where if the person's
- 44:40over eighteen and there's no evidence of anything. So on this podcast they said,
- 44:47be sure to kick a vase when you're pulled out of your house,
- 44:51do something because if there's nothing suspicious. Wherever this was, they said they
- 44:57had to wait forty eight out worse because the person was thirty. So I
- 45:02am going on record here and saying if I am missing, I did not
- 45:07do it by choice. It's on record, So you can take this to
- 45:14the police and say we have her saying I would not ever put my husband
- 45:21or my kids through it. Uh. Monkey Butt just said, hi,
- 45:27monkeybut hold on, I got the I got it here. So guys,
- 45:31monkey Butt is my granddaughter. She is not aware about the newest member of
- 45:39the family. So I decided JT is going to share the photo again so
- 45:46that monkey Butt can lose her shit. Literally, I'm just gonna leave this
- 45:52here. You know that's what you do, Shaka. But so monkey Butt,
- 45:59I love you, but guess what I did without you? Meet your
- 46:07new husband, Jasper Jasper friendly his goat, you know, and he will
- 46:15pee on the floor just like Casper pete on my shirt tonight right before I
- 46:22hopped on. But he was outside for twenty minutes, okat muddy as hell,
- 46:27and then he come up here. She just said, yeah you wow,
- 46:35yeah, well monkey butt dramatic promise that you can help bottle feed him
- 46:39when you come for the month of June, and he can sleep in your
- 46:44bed if it makes you feel any better. I will never in the near
- 46:50future meet Jasper, So all yours because if I meet Jasper Jasper, Mike,
- 46:57you might hear about a funny story of a guy trying to smuggle a
- 46:59goat and hands back on the plane. But you know, we do need
- 47:04Jasper and Casper to meet. Would that not be amazing? I don't know
- 47:12what Casper would do. They praay pee on each other. So but we'll
- 47:19get back to ahole now, Yes, let's do that. That's okay,
- 47:28CPS. Nobody calls CPS on me for letting my grandchild sleep with the goat.
- 47:34Okay, we're not. She's not going to A and M yet,
- 47:37so we don't have to worry about her doing anything bad with the goat.
- 47:39Deal. Yep, you froze. Okay, yeah, yeah, okay,
- 47:55Now back to the guy. I feel like there's worse stuff happening. I
- 48:01agree, I agree. All right, let's see here. Okay. So
- 48:09the police weren't helping at that point. They eventually got on it that day,
- 48:15but Lourie's family, friends, coworkers, and more volunteer to assist Mark
- 48:19with a search that included Laurie's friends who had to fly in in order to
- 48:22do this. The search was coming up empty handed, as I can only
- 48:27guess you imagine by now, because if they found her, I wouldn't be
- 48:29talking about this. July twentieth, the day after searching began, Laurie's family
- 48:35had a press conference. They asked for any information on her disappearance. Posters
- 48:38were hung up in contact numbers were passed out amongst the community. Eventually,
- 48:44Lorii's search party had like twelve hundred volunteers, which is crazy. I mean,
- 48:49that's that's crazy. So she was like a fantastic person. And I'll
- 48:58say this Mark, Mark did not last long on this search. He was
- 49:05admitted to the University of Utah psychiatric unit like the day after really for a
- 49:10mental breakdown. Yeah, so like when I say mental breakdown, I say
- 49:15it tentatively for many reasons. Now, I don't want to judge him in
- 49:17what happened in this case, like I don't know if that was on purpose
- 49:23or I mean, guilt is insane, like what it does to you.
- 49:28I would, But I would also say if Double H went missing. I've
- 49:31said this before, like Double H has had surgery recently, as you know,
- 49:37and my biggest fear is to lose him. And I have told my
- 49:40best friend she would either have to put me in a mental hospital or glue
- 49:45me back together and give me a lot of wine. So I agree,
- 49:49you can't judge if something like that happens, because it could be guilt or
- 49:53it could be like me. I mean I he is my rock. I
- 49:58would lose it, right, And I mean like, but I would be
- 50:05out there surgeon. Yeah. So like uh in this case, they so
- 50:15police found him wandering around a Salt Lake City motel with nothing on but a
- 50:19pair of sandals, nothing which nothing nothing on? Okay, No, he's
- 50:35you are our thumbnail. Not no not I mean not me. No,
- 50:43he's not okay, he's like the se list, mister clean, gotta me
- 51:00left like the joker. I am sorry, that would make me left so
- 51:07much. I think I let busself just a little not wrong, not wrong.
- 51:14Okay, So they found him wondering, which I mean kind of sounds
- 51:17like my Friday nights. But just that's just between you and me, nobody
- 51:22else, just just us. Just wait until Colorado. I just wait until
- 51:28Denver us in a hotel, us a hotel, Mike yea in four twenty.
- 51:38It's gonna be funny, fun all right. So what happened in the
- 51:45opening of this case so much so emphasis emphasists on the wrong salable. So
- 51:52much happened in the opening of this case, and it seemed like, no
- 51:55matter how hard they tried to believe it, Mark was not the person he
- 52:00said he was. And this wasn't like quote, I'm gonna go to the
- 52:04library or something, and it said he goes to a Starbucks or it's not
- 52:07even I'm going to go to a church, small group, Bible study,
- 52:10but then goes to a strip club, like it's not like this. I
- 52:13consider this far worse. So he told Laurie and her family that he graduated
- 52:19with honors in psychology from a university from the University of Utah, and then
- 52:22he told them he was accepted into the medical school at University of North Carolina
- 52:27at Chapel Hill. Dude, Shanka, I don't I don't know what the
- 52:31heck's going on. I wish I could get fiber internet. They'll never bring
- 52:35it to this neighborhood. I'm almost certain of it. I'll make myself smart.
- 52:38Oh my god, maybe it'll make it a little bit. I thought
- 52:43to just saying you needed more fiber. I was sitting here, going,
- 52:51why does she think he needs more fiber? What do they know that?
- 52:53I don't know. We shared a lot on night court. Okay, I
- 53:07get it now. So he does need faster internet. Yes, so this
- 53:19is so, this is what drove their move to Chapel Hill. Now Mark's
- 53:23father, Doug Hacking or doctor Doug because he's a pediatrician, found out what
- 53:29Laurie's parents had no idea idea about. Around July twenty second. He told
- 53:34reporters that his son never received his bachelor's degree and he'd never been accepted to
- 53:37medical school. The entire thing, entire thing was a lie. Apparently he
- 53:45felt pressure to accept academically, so you know, he lied about it rather
- 53:50than doing the actual work, which is a great testament to his character.
- 53:57He is a man. Yes, sponsored by Meta Musil, I prefer benough
- 54:07Fiber. I mean he does have liabetes, correct. All I'm saying is
- 54:14that if Meda Musil wants to sponsor us, they're more than welcome to.
- 54:15I will do all kinds of things. I I listen, it'll be for
- 54:21more than thirty five cents in that case. But that's because this is a
- 54:24team effort and it's not just me. Okay, So the entire thing was
- 54:32a lie. I've never known somebody as dedicated to a lie that they would
- 54:38move across the country to nothing. That's pretty dedicated. I mean that's pretty
- 54:46that's that's bold, right, Yes, it's super bold. I don't know
- 54:55what are you gonna do after you get there, like just disappear for the
- 54:58day in SAMON classes or something. I don't know. I mean he does
- 55:04get credit for going the extra mile, right, Yeah, literally extra like
- 55:12two thousand or whatever. It is. So Lourie's family, upon hearing his
- 55:19father announced that, learned it for the first time. But they were still
- 55:22looking for LORI. This isn't going to stop them from doing that. One
- 55:24thing's for sure. After the dad's press conference, a lot of people thought,
- 55:29if Mark is capable of lying about this kind of stuff, I mean,
- 55:32it's not a far stretch. But you know, other people said,
- 55:37just because he lied about this, doesn't mean he was necessarily involved in,
- 55:42you know, the disappearance at the time. True. So what's important,
- 55:47though, I think, is that the police thought Mark was a person of
- 55:50interest from the beginning, and as evidence was found, he was moved up
- 55:55to the primary suspect. Now, the investigation didn't take very long for various
- 55:59reasons. But you know, the the day that Lourie disappeared, once the
- 56:05police hopped on this, they searched her apartment. Now you know they're gonna
- 56:08check that off the list, Except they found some stuff in there and elsewhere
- 56:13that had them convinced that this was not a missing person's case but a homicide.
- 56:19So let me tell you what they found in the apartment. Here's what
- 56:23they collected. The couple's box spring, a receipt for a new mattress and
- 56:28bedding. A bloody knife found in the bedside drawer in their bedroom. Now,
- 56:31far be it from me to kink shame you do you booboo, but
- 56:37probably not great to leave leave it in the bedside table. Well, where
- 56:44else are you supposed to leave it? He took everything else out. I
- 56:50don't know what the issue is. So so they found that they found pieces
- 56:52of carpet clothing, a letter found in a spare bedroom, allegedly at the
- 56:55time written by Lori. They also found things in surrounding life locations to the
- 57:00apartment as well, and these are important because it all kind of connects.
- 57:02They found they took the trash bean outside of their apartment, a cut up
- 57:09mattress that matched the box spring found in the house. This was in a
- 57:13trash been near the University of Utah hospital where Mark was an orderly. They
- 57:19also found a clump of dark hair found in the dumpster where near the hospital.
- 57:23They had material taken from vehicles owned by Mark and Laurie. And they
- 57:28also found surveillance videotapes from the hospital, a Mormon church near the park where
- 57:31Laurie quote disappeared in a convenience store. So they found all this stuff pretty
- 57:40quickly. Did you just say he was working as an orderly, Yeah,
- 57:47yeah, and nobody found that suspicious. Don't be suspicious, don't be suspicious.
- 57:54He and by the way, some would like clarification of what was found
- 58:00in the bedside table. In the bedside table was a bloody knife. Oh
- 58:12not a toy? No no, no, no, no, no,
- 58:14no no no. Well, when you said no kink, shame, I
- 58:16was thinking a toy and I was like, well, why wouldn't you have
- 58:20it in the night stand? Was supposed to keep it? Okay, I
- 58:25guess they could, but that it needs to be run through the dishwasher and
- 58:30not kept in the night stand. I agree with it, shunka. There
- 58:36was no Walmart footage that I am aware of. I know that convenience store
- 58:38there is for sure. So Mark wasn't exactly as clever as he thought he
- 58:44was when he was realizing that his life was falling apart. This is this
- 58:49is how this ended up. Police found out that when Mark said he was
- 58:52looking for Lori in the park between ninety five and ten twenty three, he
- 58:55was actually buying a new queen size mattress at the local store. They found
- 59:00that on the receipt, so he wasn't looking for Lori. He was buying
- 59:04another mattress. When they found Laurie's car, they discovered that the front seat
- 59:09was adjusted to fit a taller person. There's that, and that's not the
- 59:20dumbest thing in the world. They also found this is the dumbest thing in
- 59:23the world. They were when they were looking through and searching the apartment,
- 59:28they found Laurie's car keys in the apartment. So if she drove to the
- 59:32park to run, but her keys were in the apartment, how does it
- 59:40work. Yeah, that's my thing, right, So it's pretty obvious Mark
- 59:45was involved in this at that point, just saying no, he didn't even
- 59:51do that. There was not even anything and you'll you'll find out soon.
- 59:57So despite the time, despite Laurie's family remained positive even if she was dead,
- 1:00:06they wanted to be sure to find the body so that she and her
- 1:00:10possible unborn child could receive a proper burial. That's right. I added a
- 1:00:15whole other layer to this, which sucks really, so I'll explain that in
- 1:00:22a second. Sorry. So, Laurie told some of her coworkers and friends
- 1:00:27that she was around five weeks pregnant. There's no reason to think that she
- 1:00:30was lying about that. There's no reason to think Glori lies. If it
- 1:00:34was Mark, i'd have a question, but it is it is important to
- 1:00:39say a let like I said, I'm more like the human side. If
- 1:00:47she said that, I believe her. But in terms of in terms of
- 1:00:54evidence. But by the time they found Laurie, there was no way to
- 1:00:58prove that one way or another, and because of that they had to drop
- 1:01:01one of the charges. What what what what do you mean? There was
- 1:01:07no way to prove that. She was not found for quite some time and
- 1:01:15I'll explain where she was found, so Jesus, Yeah, no, it
- 1:01:22wasn't anything like he did something to her so that they couldn't find that.
- 1:01:27That was an okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, no, uh so
- 1:01:36I said, things move fast. Less than a week after her disappearance,
- 1:01:38the police had enough evidence that pointed to Mark. They felt comfortable in believing
- 1:01:42that Mark murdered Laurie in their apartment early on July twentieth and disposed of her
- 1:01:45body in a location at that point unknown to them. Now. As as
- 1:01:51mentioned before, Mark went to the psychiatric ward, and on July twenty fourth,
- 1:01:54Mark's two brothers, named Lance and Scott I could not think of more
- 1:02:00like privileged family names, went to the ward. They went. They went
- 1:02:08to visit Mark with the intention of pleading for him to tell them what happened
- 1:02:13to Laurie, because at this point the evidence is all turned in that that
- 1:02:17spotlight. Honestly, Mark is the reason why most men are well, No
- 1:02:25stats are the reason, but Mark is one of the add ons of why
- 1:02:29people always look at the husbands because so like Stephor Blaine. Yes Blaine.
- 1:02:44So they basically kind of pulled the detective. Uh. They they visited him,
- 1:02:50then they decided they said, we're gonna give you it. We're gonna
- 1:02:52give you the rest of the day. Hey stew on it. And then
- 1:02:55they came back, these two brothers. When they returned, Mark admitted that
- 1:03:01he had murdered Laurie. So what has what happened per what the police found
- 1:03:10out and then also what Mark attested to what happened in the days leading up
- 1:03:15to In the day of Laurie's death. So, while Laurie was at work
- 1:03:20on Friday, July sixteenth, she wanted to get information concerning financial aid at
- 1:03:24UNC where Mark was accepted for medical school. I'm guessing she asked him to
- 1:03:30do it and he didn't, so she just decided to call. It's not
- 1:03:37unlike something that Carrie would ask me to do, and then I didn't,
- 1:03:39and then she ended up doing it. Although my host lies unraveled right,
- 1:03:47So un C said they didn't have a record of Mark hacking being newly enrolled.
- 1:03:53Laurie was appropriately upset about this, and she was at work started crying.
- 1:04:00Her coworkers sounded wonderful because they basically convinced her to leave work early,
- 1:04:08so she did, and she used that time to confront Mark. At five
- 1:04:13pm the same day, Laurie called UNC again and left a voicemail but which
- 1:04:17which suggested that Mark tried to talk his way out of this this discovery.
- 1:04:23And he said, well, I mean, yes, my name might not
- 1:04:25be there because there was a computer malfunction. The only malfunction is you good,
- 1:04:30sir? In that one? Horrible? Right? Yeah, this is
- 1:04:36this. I'm about to crack this bullderrock for that and I'll regret it later.
- 1:04:45I'm sure. Oh that's not bad. That's actually really good? Is
- 1:04:51it at least children? Yes? Yes, it is real vodka with crape.
- 1:04:59That's interesting, fascinating. So I have to ask, was he just
- 1:05:03trying to buy a little bit more time or did he really think he was
- 1:05:08going to get away with that second lie because the first one didn't work at
- 1:05:13that point. At that point, I think he was very sure that that
- 1:05:18was going to work, that was going to stop her from looking into it.
- 1:05:23And I'll tell you, I think he thought that worked all the way
- 1:05:28up until the last second. And so as I explain this, I'll kind
- 1:05:36of point out what I'm talking about. So Laurie. Here's the weird thing
- 1:05:44is that Laurie made that call to ask specifically about the computer malfunction. Later,
- 1:05:48the two of them that night went to a party at her supervisor's mountain
- 1:05:54cabin, and it was said that they got along really well then that evening.
- 1:06:03The thing is, I mean, I'm just gonna say, I can
- 1:06:12remember being married to a POS and everybody thought things were hunky dory, because,
- 1:06:20let me tell you, women, we know how to fake it until
- 1:06:25we're ready to get the heck out of dodge. Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:06:30And I think that this is the case because like we, let's be
- 1:06:35honest, we always see the rose and we never see the thorns. Right,
- 1:06:40we think everybody's life that's depicted online or whatever is perfect, even in
- 1:06:45person, it's perfect. I mean, like, how many times have you
- 1:06:47had a small tiff, but then you go out and it's just like,
- 1:06:50we're gonna put this to the side, right, I mean even double chess
- 1:06:56thorns. Yeah, when he's doing gardening, yes, no, But I
- 1:07:02mean he's not perfect. I had somebody tell me recently, God, do
- 1:07:06you have the most perfect husband. I was like, Oh, let's have
- 1:07:09a chatt He's not perfect. He just puts up with me. I'm an
- 1:07:14I'm a d a mess for sure. Uh so again it could be a
- 1:07:20ruse. Two days later after that, Mark finally admitted that he lied about
- 1:07:28his education in future plans. And I don't know whether he was waiting for
- 1:07:31a pat on the back or it'll be okay, or we'll figure this out.
- 1:07:36But obviously an argument happened, because du obviously right. So here's here's
- 1:07:49where I get confused as to you know, what did he really think?
- 1:07:57For how long he did? Because Laurie decided she was going to bed,
- 1:08:00like they had had an argument, she was headed to bed. Mark stayed
- 1:08:05playing Nintendo because that's just how that works. Now. I don't know if
- 1:08:10it was an actual Nintendo or just somebody's use of Nintendo as in meaning any
- 1:08:14game system, right, but he played Nintendo, but he continued packing,
- 1:08:19moving boxes. I don't know why. That's what can see. That's what
- 1:08:27confused. That's right. Why why did he There's so there's two things,
- 1:08:33right, there's two There's two reasons. One, he's just completely out of
- 1:08:38it thinking that it was still good, the move was still going to happen.
- 1:08:41Or two that's what he said in his confession or his a you know,
- 1:08:45admittance of what he did. But that was his way of getting to
- 1:08:51how he had the twenty two caliber rifle, because what he said was he
- 1:08:57was packing and during packing he came across a twenty two caliber rifle accidentally.
- 1:09:06So so that's what I'm saying, is like, I don't I think it
- 1:09:10was his method to get to how he had the gun. So I don't
- 1:09:15think that it was I don't. I don't think he was actually packing.
- 1:09:19I think it's just his way of saying I was. I think his back
- 1:09:21was against the wall and he was grasping for straws one hundred percent. And
- 1:09:31so at one o'clock he went into the bedroom and while Laurie was sleeping,
- 1:09:40he shot her in the head. As one is wont to do apparently,
- 1:09:45so he's a coward as well, Yes, one hundred percent a coward.
- 1:09:51Uh So, Mark continued as to what happened afterwards. Because he loved his
- 1:09:57wife so much, he wrapped her up in garbage bags along with the bloody
- 1:10:00top of the mattress, which he cut away. He cut away the top
- 1:10:03of the mattress with a knife. Then he put her body in a dumpster
- 1:10:06at two o'clock in the morning. He then got rid of the mattress in
- 1:10:11the church trash bin. Because you know, that's not obvious at all.
- 1:10:15How often do you find a mattress at a church, I don't know,
- 1:10:21because they don't give nobody nothing usually, so you know, having anything out
- 1:10:26there random. The sorry, the gun he put in another unidentified dumpster.
- 1:10:35They never found that gun, but it kind of didn't matter much, and
- 1:10:44we'll explain why in a second. So the next day, the brothers went
- 1:10:46to the police, told them about Mark's confession, and he was arrested.
- 1:10:48In August second, two thousand and four, he was moved from the psychiatric
- 1:10:53clic to say Salt Lake County Jail, where he was charged with first degree
- 1:10:59murder and three counts of obstructing justice. He was. That was a week
- 1:11:03later after he moved there. The confession pushed another two week long search for
- 1:11:11Lori at the Salt Lake County landfill because of where he said he dumbed her
- 1:11:17body. So the search was supposed to last a month, but it would
- 1:11:21end up going much longer. And here's why. Because they had thousands They
- 1:11:29had a ton of garbage, thousands of tons of garbage compacted over thirty to
- 1:11:33forty feet deep and two soccer fields in length to go through. Dang,
- 1:11:40that's a lot of trash, right, And they had, you know,
- 1:11:45regularly thirty eight volunteers because you can't really have you can't have regular people going
- 1:11:48through this stuff, right, you can't just have volunteers. So they had
- 1:11:53thirty eight people, including police officers, firefighters, public safety officials, and
- 1:11:58the urban Search and Rescue team that look for human remains at the World Trade
- 1:12:00Center, all going through this. And they went eleven hours a day for
- 1:12:08four days a week, up and up and wow. But I mean,
- 1:12:14ask somebody who's done some training, since I'm part of the thirt team and
- 1:12:19we've done some light training. Answer, I mean, eleven hours is a
- 1:12:24lot, Yeah, yes, that's funny. That made me chuckle. I
- 1:12:32won't say it, but it was funny. That makes me laugh. Okay,
- 1:12:36So so again you know they they were they were in all kinds of
- 1:12:43protective gear too. They're so they're in protective gear. This was around uh
- 1:12:49July hot, yeah, July, August, September, around August second was
- 1:12:57when he was arrested. So somewhere in there to September. They were looking
- 1:13:02and yes, hot, right, and they're sitting there in steel plated boots,
- 1:13:06overalls, leather gloves, masks I wear I mean hot and you're talking.
- 1:13:12You're talking to this is like a landfill, so there's no shade around.
- 1:13:16It's literally you sun, you trash the bar, the birds. Yeah.
- 1:13:24No, So even without Laurie's body being found, the chief, the
- 1:13:31police chief thought that they had a really good case. He said, we
- 1:13:34are hopeful we can find the body, but we believe the case is strong
- 1:13:38enough that we could prosecute without it. And primarily because the brothers are going
- 1:13:42to be good witnesses because they have nothing to gain out of I mean their
- 1:13:47their brothers going to jail, right, So there's nothing they never found her.
- 1:13:55Well, hold on, no, no, so we'll get there,
- 1:14:00okay. Investigators. So as evidence kind of piled up, investigators were able
- 1:14:05to match Lori's blood to that that was found in Laurie's car, on the
- 1:14:11couple's bed rail, headboard, mattress, and the blood found in the bedroom
- 1:14:14carpet, and the knife found in the sheath, the knife found on the
- 1:14:20side table in the side table, and then there was another knife that they
- 1:14:26found stuff on which was that knife was believed to cut up the mattress.
- 1:14:30They also discovered a letter written by Laurie, like I mentioned days before her
- 1:14:34death. It's said, quote, I hate coming home from work because it
- 1:14:38hurts to be home in our apartment. I can't imagine life with you if
- 1:14:41things don't change. And the letter also said I I've got someone I don't
- 1:14:49want to spend the rest of my life with unless changes are made, which
- 1:14:55he apparently probably saw the letter, knew that his lie was discovered, things
- 1:14:59were falling apart. He didn't know what. I think he freaked. I
- 1:15:03think he freaked, And I'm not saying that was the right thing to do,
- 1:15:06obviously it was not. But I just have to stop what kind of
- 1:15:12person she was to want to give him the opportunity to change, because I
- 1:15:18have to tell you I would have been peace out. There would have been
- 1:15:24no opportunity for change. Call me a quitter. I would have pieced out
- 1:15:28and well so eating a lot of ice cream. I agree with you wholeheartedly,
- 1:15:35But we do. I guess I have. I haven't brought this into
- 1:15:39it just because it didn't really play a primary piece. But I mean,
- 1:15:42they were Mormon, they were Latter day Saints, so divorce in that faith
- 1:15:47is very difficult. We've seen that whole thing with Lori Valo and Jodiarius and
- 1:15:57all this other stuff. I mean, it's just like tough gas math,
- 1:16:02gas math exactly. So they on top of that were compiling video evidence of
- 1:16:10Mark as well. There was a video of him entering a county store.
- 1:16:15He bought cigarettes, he checked hiss and fingers, and then he drove away
- 1:16:19in his wife's car eighteen minutes after the time police Lauri believe Louri died,
- 1:16:24which means Laurie was probably in her own vehicle. Yeah, And so they
- 1:16:33also had video evidence that possibly included images of him disposing of Laurie's body in
- 1:16:40a dumpster and driving her car to the park. Anyways, the prosecution decided
- 1:16:46to file first agree murder charges against him, which was I flip and hate
- 1:16:53Utah so much because they don't give you the specific They don't give you the
- 1:16:58specific sentence. They give you a range, and then they leave it up
- 1:17:03to the parole board to determine how far how long you're gonna write. So
- 1:17:10what they were hoping for was five years to life in prison. But that's
- 1:17:16some big range, right right. Uh, Laurie's body was absent. Still
- 1:17:25they didn't they didn't have it, so around hold on, I'm looking here.
- 1:17:32What did I say? All I know is if you say he only
- 1:17:38got five years, We're gonna want to mute my microphone because I'm gonna have
- 1:17:42a litany of stuff come out. So there was a we'll get to Lourie
- 1:17:48so that before she was found. On our August fourteenth, there's a memorial
- 1:17:55service for her. More than six hundred people showed up, which is razy.
- 1:18:00That is the Laurie's family allowed Mark's family to attend the service. His
- 1:18:08father, Doug Hacking, actually gave the opening prayer, which I just like,
- 1:18:15I mean, I get it. They weren't responsible for they weren't they
- 1:18:18weren't responsible and his brothers turned him in. So I mean I have goose
- 1:18:29bumps. Yeah. So, in remembrance of Laurie, her mother set up
- 1:18:35a scholarship funded her name. The fund grew in about a month from twelve
- 1:18:42thousand and eighty one thousand, fifty thousand was donated by Oprah because she did
- 1:18:46an interview with her mother then the So, so, just to tell you,
- 1:18:54which is good news. The scholarship's awarded to a woman who has been
- 1:18:58disadvantaged by financial hardship, abuse, family difficulties, or other life circumstances,
- 1:19:01who attend the University of Utah's School of Business and is in need of assistance.
- 1:19:06So that's really good. So good for them, that's really good.
- 1:19:12On October first, two thousand and four, a little more than two months
- 1:19:15since Laurie was reported missing, she was finally found at the Salt Lake County
- 1:19:19landfill. Yeah. So, police Sergeant J. R. Nelson said that,
- 1:19:29well, he was the one that made the discovery. He was sifting
- 1:19:32through garbage by hand, and he said, quote, I pulled this group
- 1:19:35of trash out of a bag, and hair came out of the bag.
- 1:19:41And he also saw that the bag contained, you know, a human jawbone
- 1:19:45and teeth, so it was included. It was enclosed and treated as a
- 1:19:51crime scene. Obviously, they worked for hours gathering her remains and other evidence,
- 1:19:59but it didn't take long for them to identify those remains is as Laurie.
- 1:20:04Obviously, both families were were happy and sad, right obviously, I
- 1:20:10mean, yeah, that's a sad thing, intensely so. But they said
- 1:20:16that they were relieved that she was finally going to be able to be laid
- 1:20:23laid to rest. Apparently Mark also expressed relief that Laurie had been found.
- 1:20:30I don't care, Mark, what why did he he knew he was going
- 1:20:35to He knew he was going to jail, like he knew, Why did
- 1:20:38he care? Why did he even open his mouth? I don't know,
- 1:20:42because for the same reason why he opened his mouth when he was so after
- 1:20:46Oprah made that donation right to the scholarship, he announced from his prison cell
- 1:20:54that he was going to write a book about everything and the proceeds would go
- 1:20:57to that scholarship. But is I really hope in prison a lot of things
- 1:21:06are getting put in his mouth? Sorry, yeah, I agree with you,
- 1:21:17he does. So they worked let's see. Okay, So because of
- 1:21:30the status of the body, right two months, a lot happens in two
- 1:21:34months, specially in a landfill. Medical examiners were unable to determine whether she
- 1:21:41was pregnant, and they were also the rifle. But because they found the
- 1:21:50body, there's a crime. They can prove that she was murdered. Without
- 1:21:55a body that it's hard to do so, but they probably they had enough.
- 1:22:00And so again he was charged with first degree murder secondary felony accounts because
- 1:22:10he lied to investigators, tried to dispose of evidence, which is the obstruction
- 1:22:15of justice. And on April fifteenth, I've never this is the fastest this
- 1:22:23entire investigation to trial, maybe because of the plea went really fast because April
- 1:22:28fifteenth, two and five. Yeah, he stood before Denise Lindberg. He
- 1:22:32said publicly that he shot his pregnant wife, Laurie Hacking, in the head
- 1:22:36with a twenty two rifle as she lay sleeping on the morning of July nineteenth,
- 1:22:40two thousand and four. I hate him. The whole hearing lasted ten
- 1:22:46minutes. He showed no visible signs of emotion and his sentence. Did he
- 1:22:55get anything for killing his unborn child. No, because they couldn't prove that
- 1:23:00she was. But he admitted it. He said, I killed my wife,
- 1:23:04right, pregnant wife. Yeah, okay, one second here, I
- 1:23:16I had it. I don't like it. I don't either. I hate
- 1:23:23it. See here, okay, okay. So April fifteenth, he pled
- 1:23:29guilty. June's well, here's the funny thing. He pled guilty to first
- 1:23:33agree murder in exchange for them dropping the other charges, as if that was
- 1:23:38going to make a flipping difference. On June sixth, same year, he
- 1:23:45was sentenced to six years to life in prison, the maximum possible sentence under
- 1:23:49Utah law at the time. At the time uh in Utah prison sentences,
- 1:23:55as I mentioned before, indeterminate. The person who sentenced has to serve the
- 1:24:00entire one unless the Board of Pardons releases him sooner. The Board of Pardons
- 1:24:04has way too much power. Yeah, they do, I mean, and
- 1:24:11and like the only reason, where's the checks and balance system? There are
- 1:24:17none? Right, there are none. There literally are none, because they
- 1:24:20are like a mini supreme court. And like to me, I feel like
- 1:24:28somebody at some point said, if I can get this person on this board
- 1:24:30of pardons, I can do do a lot of crap and get away with
- 1:24:33it because they can just pardon me and push me out. So all I
- 1:24:38can imagine is that it's a lot like the handover school board here and in
- 1:24:41my state, where it's just kind of like we're just gonna put people on
- 1:24:45the board. They don't get elected, but we just kinda pop them up
- 1:24:47there. So I don't like it. Is it gonna be where they say,
- 1:24:53oh, but he was good in prison, he changed, he did
- 1:24:57this, and he was a good prisoner, So we're going to pardon.
- 1:25:00Are they not going to take into account that, of course he was good?
- 1:25:03There was no wife there to kill. Yeah, So like, uh,
- 1:25:12you need to do better. You need to figure shit out, dude.
- 1:25:16Uh for sure. And I can only tell you that it's got to
- 1:25:19be some form of a theocracy because there. I can't think of another state
- 1:25:23that's like that. Can you think of another state that that can't? Not
- 1:25:27that I've run across. Yeah, So like and and and Angie wrote here
- 1:25:32six to life what an odd range? Correct? It is an odd range.
- 1:25:36And here's the funny part. Normally, if you're convicted of first degree
- 1:25:40murder, you're required to serve a minimum of five years before being considered for
- 1:25:44parole, but because Hacking killed Laurie with a firearm, it was increased by
- 1:25:48one year into that. I say, ladda a whole year, a whole
- 1:25:57year Sophie was stabbed her that it has got five. Yeah. See here's
- 1:26:03the next thing that really pisses me off. July of five, right,
- 1:26:09what was it? The almost the same time that he was sentenced, they
- 1:26:15declared the Board of Pardons declared that Mark would not be considered per parole until
- 1:26:19at least twenty thirty five, which means that he's going to have to serve
- 1:26:26a minimum of thirty years in prison. Oh who flip and who hey,
- 1:26:32it's better than five or six. Just because he can be considered doesn't mean
- 1:26:40that it'll be approved, right, correct, absolutely, So there's a lot
- 1:26:45of time for him to get his mouth stuffed. Oh yeah, oh for
- 1:26:51sure. I mean he's been in since five so yeah. Now, the
- 1:26:58important part about this is is the victim's family, and Laurie's mother said,
- 1:27:02quote, while it is a terrible waste of his life, the decision lifts
- 1:27:06a great burden from my mind and heart. The six year minimum imposed by
- 1:27:10law as an insult not only to Laurie and the baby, but to me
- 1:27:14and my family as well. I thank the members of the State Board of
- 1:27:17Pardons and Parole for their diligence and sense of justice and dealing with this tragic
- 1:27:21case. There's a couple of good there are good things that happened, And
- 1:27:30although this is a is just tough, I always like in the end when
- 1:27:35somebody learns something and works things out right, tries to figure some stuff out.
- 1:27:44So I was super happy to know that Laurie's family had the name Hacking
- 1:27:48removed from her headstone, and they said that we felt that Mark obviously didn't
- 1:27:55want her anymore. So her name was replaced with the Portuguese word phil hint
- 1:28:00philheena, I think, which translates to little daughter. So good on them,
- 1:28:09So I think that yeah, yeah, so the inities like it did
- 1:28:16for everybody here who's listening and and myself, and it caused caused a huge,
- 1:28:24massive issue. Many were super pissed off and alarmed the Hacking could be
- 1:28:30released after just six years. Now, a great majority of convicted murderers serve
- 1:28:39far more than the five year minimum. It's unheard of for a convicted murder
- 1:28:44to serve less than fifteen years. Some are denied, right, why do
- 1:28:49it? Why why put the family through that? Exactly why? The several
- 1:28:57are right, And and they're forced to wait twenty two years for another hearing,
- 1:29:02which means the family's waiting another twenty two years to figure out if this
- 1:29:05knucklehead gets out of prison. So no, God, God, that's just
- 1:29:12retraumatizing the family, in my opinion, unnecessarily. Admittedly, what came out
- 1:29:19of this is not a great solution, but it is a good one.
- 1:29:23So on March twentieth, two thousand and six, Utah House Bill one oh
- 1:29:27two, also known as Lori's Law, was signed into law, and it
- 1:29:30stipulates that people convicted of first degree murder in Utah must serve at least fifteen
- 1:29:34years before they can even be considered for parole, So not five, not
- 1:29:39six, fifteen. So that's great, but that's not enough. But it's
- 1:29:45it's not nearly like if you guys take the life, you serve life.
- 1:29:49I'm like, I'm just gonna say, I expect everybody, whether you hate
- 1:29:55me, love me, like me, or whatever. If somebody murders me
- 1:29:59and they only get fifteen years. That found enough, because let me tell
- 1:30:03you, my life is worth more than that to my grandkids, my husband,
- 1:30:09and my kids. Fifteen years is not justice. You take a life,
- 1:30:15you serve a life, unless they're are mitigating such circumstances like you're a
- 1:30:20battered woman and you know you serve thirty or forty five. But I don't
- 1:30:29know any murderer that only deserves fifteen years for taking the life I know because
- 1:30:36of how insanely heinous this was, Like, he's not going to get out,
- 1:30:42But there's an issue. There's an issue with the fact that in eleven
- 1:30:46years he's getting out for two reasons. Could get out for two reasons.
- 1:30:49One he could get out, but two his Lori's family literally has a countdown
- 1:30:56day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute. Now doing that
- 1:31:00in twenty thirty five, he is going to go up in front of a
- 1:31:03parole board and maybe even if there is the smidgeon point zero zero one percent
- 1:31:11of a chance, they are going to be tortured until that decision happens.
- 1:31:15They're re traumatized. How old will he be at that point? Uh,
- 1:31:21I need to get my calculatory. I got my calculator. I had it
- 1:31:25on my desk in case we had to do math. He'll be in his
- 1:31:28late fifties, early sixties, I think, so he could still live another
- 1:31:32thirty or forty years, get another wife, have a life. He can
- 1:31:36even father a child and like not totally understand that festival. No. I
- 1:31:43know his family like wants him to figure his crap out. I get it.
- 1:31:49No, you do the time, you do, the crime, you
- 1:31:53pay the No. That's my thing is that if he gets out in twenty
- 1:31:58thirty five, his family has dad being a pediatrician, them being kind of
- 1:32:00high ranking in the LDS community, they will take care of him. So
- 1:32:09he's gonna not go back to something well, maybe not, maybe his family.
- 1:32:17I forget what the term is in the LDS, but I have a
- 1:32:21couple of Mormon friends. There is a terminology where they oster size. If
- 1:32:30a child or if a family member does something, there is something in that
- 1:32:34religion that you can cut them off and you're not looked upon by the elders
- 1:32:42to still take care unless they think he's repented. I don't like that.
- 1:32:54I'm just gonna say that's not enough. I don't either. I don't so,
- 1:33:02uh, you know, when when Mark was was sentenced his his father
- 1:33:11read a statement from his family and said that it ended. The statement ended,
- 1:33:17and he quoted Mark and and Mark apparently at some point said quote,
- 1:33:24I'm guessing he sent this in a letter. I'll say this at the end,
- 1:33:30I wrote, fucking really as a note. Yeah, I know prison
- 1:33:36is where I need to be. I will spend my time. This is
- 1:33:39called a look what I wrote years ago, parole board. I know prison
- 1:33:45is where I need to be. I will spend my time there doing all
- 1:33:46I can to write the many wrongs I have done. Though I realized complete
- 1:33:51atonement is impossible in this life. I have a lot of healing and changing
- 1:33:56to do, but I hope that someday I can become the man Laurie always
- 1:33:58thought I was. Get her name out of your mouth. To the many
- 1:34:01people I have hurt, I am more sorry than you could ever know.
- 1:34:05Every day my soul burns and torment. When I think about I think it's
- 1:34:09not his soul that's burning. When I think of what you must be going
- 1:34:14through, I wish I could take away your pain. I wish I could
- 1:34:16take back all the lies I've told and replace them with the truth. I
- 1:34:19wish I could find. Yeah, oh yeah, I wish. It's like
- 1:34:26gaslighting, but with farts to light. The light could put Laurie back into
- 1:34:31your arms. My pain is deserved, yours is not. I do like
- 1:34:34that line. I appreciate that line. I appreciate even if it's from him.
- 1:34:39My pain is deserved, yours is not. From the bottom of my
- 1:34:42heart, I beg for your forgiveness. There is no such thing as a
- 1:34:45harmless lie, no matter how small it is. You may think a lie.
- 1:34:48I read this early at the beginning. You may think a lie only
- 1:34:50hurts the liar, but this is far from the truth. If you are
- 1:34:54traveling a path of lies, stop now. Face the consequences, whatever they
- 1:34:58are, they will be better than the pain you are causing yourself in others.
- 1:35:01Now, he wrote this cool, and here's why I don't give a
- 1:35:11shit because a year later to the month, prison officials in Utah discovered that
- 1:35:16he was selling personal items including autographs, hand tracings, various prison forms,
- 1:35:20magazines on an online site called murder Auction. Did he donate that money to
- 1:35:30Did he donate the money he made from those items to the foundation and the
- 1:35:35scholarships? So basically he told he wrote in that letter what he thought the
- 1:35:47courts wanted to hear. Correct, and I did. Look, murder auction
- 1:35:57is still alive. It is. It is like I'm staring at Riker Ramirez's
- 1:36:01San Quentin death row prison polaroid. It is. I mean, I'm glad
- 1:36:13he realizes that he should hurt. But I'm sorry. You can't undo what
- 1:36:21you did with words. There are some things, and if he was truly
- 1:36:27sorry, he would keep his goddamn mouth shut and never speak her name.
- 1:36:33In my opinion, agreed. Sorry, guys, I spoke wine on my
- 1:36:41desk. I was frustrated. I'm trying to do a quick inmate search.
- 1:36:46Let's see if I can find a more recent, up to date photo.
- 1:36:50I don't like him. I don't like him, not Ethan, it's Mark.
- 1:37:00Let's see if I can find anything here. Oh wait, hold on.
- 1:37:10You know what is is bad about like his case that Scott Peterson's getting
- 1:37:19a reconsideration. Mm, yeah, that is indeed happening. I don't I
- 1:37:31got nothing. I just let's see is the reason ninety percent of law enforcement
- 1:37:53looks to the husband first. YEP, I hope more than just his mouth
- 1:38:01is getting filled. Sorry, I can't find anything that has a recent picture.
- 1:38:13I have to look a little closer. But yeah, so that's uh,
- 1:38:18during my case, that's the Marky Mark you wish you never knew.
- 1:38:25Oh, don't even give him any Marky Mark. Do not do that to
- 1:38:28Mark you Mark, That's just not okay. I will take Marky Mark in
- 1:38:32my mouth anyway. I think I said that how much of that? How
- 1:38:45much of that boxes you? Has he finished? It's because I didn't finish
- 1:38:53dinner. I really after nine monkey butts in bed, Thank god. I
- 1:39:03don't know if to say thank you for that case or to tell you that
- 1:39:10I don't like him. Yeah, I'm trying to think of that other what's
- 1:39:24the what's the what's the who's the fella that he said that his wife and
- 1:39:31kids were missing and he ended up murdering them and putting them in a like
- 1:39:36a oh do you know what I'm talking about? I can't think of it.
- 1:39:43What Chris Watts? Is that his name? Oh? Yeah, that's
- 1:39:47it just really reminded me of Yeah, I think it's Chris Watts. Yeah,
- 1:39:51Chris Watts. That's it. Kind of had that kind of thing there.
- 1:39:57It is yep, Don asked me about sports teams, but I can
- 1:40:01tell you about murderers, right, Oh are you talking about Are we talking
- 1:40:06about did? And Uh, that's right, P Diddy. All I'm saying
- 1:40:12is there's no way on a massive celebrity would they in any way raid a
- 1:40:18home publicly if they didn't have good without yeah, without good cause. And
- 1:40:25the fact that he left his Childdren to deal with it and flew to a
- 1:40:31place without an extradition deal tells me all I need to know. I read
- 1:40:41a story that he used to hang with R. Kelly. Well, there
- 1:40:47there is a lot that is going to happen here. I mean, I
- 1:40:50wasn't exactly psyched about hearing that jay Z was possibly involved in this because all
- 1:40:57I could think of was like Beyonce. But yeah, I mean, well,
- 1:41:02but you have to stop and think, yes, he is, but
- 1:41:06just you have to stop and think that just I mean, in their rap
- 1:41:13circle. You can't say just because he went to a party or dinner that
- 1:41:17jay Z went with Diddy. I mean, because that would be saying,
- 1:41:20look at j Lo, she dated the guy. So I mean, it's
- 1:41:28not always guilty by association. Well, if that ends up becoming any kind
- 1:41:35of televised court hearing. Yeah, we will probably we will we. I
- 1:41:44mean I have been against Diddy from day one. I don't know why.
- 1:41:55Something about him has always bothered me. And when j Loo's with that direction,
- 1:42:01I refuse to watch any videos, movies, anything she was in because
- 1:42:08he disturbed me that bad. Yeah didn't he is. Also, he's also
- 1:42:17up there in terms of people who either said people who set up Tupac's murder.
- 1:42:26I believe he is one of the names that comes up regularly in terms
- 1:42:30of somebody who wanted you puck out. I read something on Reddit because I
- 1:42:35have now found Reddit thanks to some of our team. He's got connections to
- 1:42:43Epstein. Oh, I'm sure. I'm not surprised. We will see what
- 1:42:55happens to him, but it is not the last thing we will hear about
- 1:43:00him. Man, I can't that if that's crew Shunka, that's incredibly uped
- 1:43:09up, but also like beyond once it comes off as like a super like
- 1:43:15strong independent woman that but at the same time, if she doesn't know it's
- 1:43:21happening, I know, my gosh, her family and that, I have
- 1:43:29to say would be surprising to me. Yeah, yeah, yeah, h
- 1:43:34yeah, that's what I'm saying about. Yep, all I know is double
- 1:43:41H kills me. He needs to do more than thirty years. Not only
- 1:43:46that unless I bring home fifty goats. If I bring home fifty goats,
- 1:43:50he's entitled. You won't go down the first time. We all know this.
- 1:43:59I did not know about that case. So thank you for another reminder
- 1:44:06that men can be assholes. Oh we don't need a reminder of that.
- 1:44:13We give that every single day. However, if you are frustrated with a
- 1:44:17significant other because they put the toilet paper on the wrong way, or they
- 1:44:21leave the seat up, or any other tear like any other silly thing,
- 1:44:26like obviously legitimate things, but like that, at least they're not Mark hacking.
- 1:44:31Who's a hack? So there's that. Hey, at least he didn't
- 1:44:36hack her up. That's where I thought it was going. No, yeah,
- 1:44:43yeah, I might have led with some of those notes so you weren't
- 1:44:46just in there waiting. But no, that that wasn't what happened. And
- 1:44:51I mean, you know, it's it's one of the Yeah, even if
- 1:44:56you're even if your significant other sleeps on your phone and you can't access it,
- 1:45:02that's like literally directed at one person. But even if that's the case,
- 1:45:08like he ain't Mark, he ain't Mark, yep. And if your
- 1:45:15spouse serves dinner fifteen minutes late and you say, hey, I thought we're
- 1:45:21eating at this time, and they say, well, next time, cook
- 1:45:25at your damn So well, thank you. I do have some good news
- 1:45:33for everybody. My case isn't that dark, but it's disturbing in a much
- 1:45:45different way. Yeah, so I hope everybody is ready. A lot of
- 1:45:56people know about this case. It is one that I have been fascinated with
- 1:46:05since it happened. And the reason why is I bought into the media hype
- 1:46:15on it. And that's all I'm gonna say. So. Michael Morton was
- 1:46:21born in Texas in August nineteen fifty four. He was raised in California,
- 1:46:29but he moved back to Texas during high school. After high school, he
- 1:46:32attended SFA also known as Stephen F. Austin and nakadochus Aka Nachinaware, Texas.
- 1:46:40I Loved It where he met Christine Kirkpatrick, who had been born in
- 1:46:45April nineteen fifty five in Houston, Texas. The happy couple married in nineteen
- 1:46:50seventy nine when I was nine years old and went on to have a son
- 1:46:55named Eric in nineteen eighty three. Now there's son. Eric was born with
- 1:47:00a congenital heart defect, and we need surgery when he turned three. So
- 1:47:05the first three years of Eric's life were really hard for the parents. I
- 1:47:12mean, think about it. Your child is sick. You know you have
- 1:47:17to wait until they're this age to be able to have the surgery. I
- 1:47:23can only imagine that you're trying to live life, but you're also feeling like
- 1:47:28there's a time bomb waiting there, you know, because if he doesn't make
- 1:47:32it well. Eric had a successful heart surgery, and the couple, along
- 1:47:40with their family, celebrated Michael's thirty second birthday on August twelfth, nineteen eighty
- 1:47:45six, so about six weeks after Eric's successful surgery. So let me tell
- 1:47:50you this, husband and wife, we're probably living pretty high. You know,
- 1:47:57your kid has made it through surgery. It's your birthday. I mean,
- 1:48:01a good celebration, right. They all went out to celebrate, had
- 1:48:06dinner. Later, Michael would say that his thirty second birthday was great.
- 1:48:13Eric could come through a surgery with success and life was looking bright after three
- 1:48:18extremely stressful years dealing with Eric's heart condition because he was very sick, he
- 1:48:24was small for his age, a lot of things. The morning after his
- 1:48:30thirty second birthday, August thirteenth, which is also my Jefpha's birthday, Michael
- 1:48:36got up as usual around five am, dressed, left forge his job as
- 1:48:43a manager at the local grocery in the Austin area. Little did he know
- 1:48:51that seeing his wife sleeping that morning would be the last time he would see
- 1:48:55her alive, and that his life would change forever and never be the same.
- 1:49:06Later that day, a neighborhood christ coming from the Morton residence and police
- 1:49:11recalled sadly Christine, who is thirty one and at home alone with Eric,
- 1:49:16was brutally murdered in the master bedroom. Now, before I get into this
- 1:49:23next part, I want to say I am not a person that believes all
- 1:49:30police officers are scumbags. Okay. I believe that there are good people and
- 1:49:36bad people in every profession. Okay. So I'm not one who thinks we
- 1:49:43need to defund the police. I do think there are some bad apples out
- 1:49:46there. So I want to say that because I look at Harris County and
- 1:49:53what they've done for Chase and what they haven't done for Chase. Yeah.
- 1:49:58Yeah, there's a there's a book that's by Philip Zimbardo. He's the one
- 1:50:03who did the the Yale He did those experiments where he selected half to be
- 1:50:15prisoners and have to be Stanford, the Stanford Prison Experiment. So he ran
- 1:50:21that and he ended up writing a book called Loose for Effect where he applies
- 1:50:26that to the experiences that were happening in Abu Garb, which is fascinating.
- 1:50:30IM promised, I'm getting to a point, and I really liked what he
- 1:50:33said where he said like, there can only be so many times that there
- 1:50:36are rotten apples before you have to start looking at the basket. And so
- 1:50:44I think that you're right. We have a lot of great people out there.
- 1:50:50My uncle was one of them. We also have a lot of folks
- 1:50:54that, for one reason or another, that junk goes to their heads.
- 1:50:59But I think we also, truly and not I'm a mass skill maybe locally
- 1:51:04to start out with, we got to look at the basket. We gotta
- 1:51:06figure out where is it rotting. And I think that comes from your right.
- 1:51:12I think there are certain cities, counties, things where the basket is
- 1:51:15bad. And because the basket is bad, it attracts bad apples. Yeah,
- 1:51:21and and and it's because it is because good apples don't want to be
- 1:51:26in a bad basket. Yeah. I mean I know that. When I
- 1:51:30say localized, it makes it sound like I don't think it's a big deal.
- 1:51:31It's a big deal. In fact, it's probably the majority of locales.
- 1:51:39But because of that, and because there are so many ifs ands,
- 1:51:43or maybe it's a difficult solution and nobody wants to nobody wants to pursue it
- 1:51:47because it's difficult. They either want mass reform or nothing at all. It's
- 1:51:53not and that's the problem. They either want to go hard left or hard
- 1:51:57right because it would take too much work to identify the problem, to root
- 1:52:03cause analysis, and then fix the problem. They either say, oh,
- 1:52:09fine, get rid of all of it, or oh, throw money at
- 1:52:12it. So I just wanted to say that because the police and the prosecutor
- 1:52:17in this case really pissed me off. So, oh, the police,
- 1:52:26I think you're going the other way. Okay, I'm with you. Let's
- 1:52:30do this. Yeah. So the police began the investigation into the case of
- 1:52:35Christine's murder and Christine's brother during this investigation, found a little bit of way
- 1:52:42a blue band dana near the crime scene, gave it to the detectives.
- 1:52:45They put it into evidence. Put a pin in that, please. Police
- 1:52:50talk to the neighbors who reported seeing a man in a green van parked near
- 1:52:56the Morton's house several times and nothing was done and investigated around that green van.
- 1:53:03Put a pin in that. And Eric told the police that a monster
- 1:53:10with the mustache killed his mom and dad was at work am iping that too.
- 1:53:19Dad did not have a mustache, but put a pin in that.
- 1:53:24So police laser focused on Michael from the start because the husband did it right.
- 1:53:33I mean, look at who we just dealt with, Mark right now?
- 1:53:38There is a mark in my case? No, oh, so there
- 1:53:42is a mark. So interesting enough. September twenty fifth, nineteen eighty six,
- 1:53:50Michael had given the police everything. He was like, what can I
- 1:53:55do to help this? I mean, he was an open book to them.
- 1:54:00He was like, Polly, whatever you need right. So on September
- 1:54:03twenty fifth, nineteen eighty six, police arrived at Morton's home where Michael and
- 1:54:09Eric were just the two of them, and they arrested Michael for the murder
- 1:54:15of his wife. Michael asked if he could please call a friend to come
- 1:54:17over and get Eric, and police told him no, they already had it
- 1:54:24taken care of, and they proceeded to pull Eric, ripped him out of
- 1:54:29his dad's arms, then took Michael into custody. What oh, yeah,
- 1:54:34because let's just add more trauma to the kid that's experienced everything under the sun
- 1:54:39recently. Yep. And what you're going to find as we go through this.
- 1:54:45There's not a shred of evidence against Michael. So police said Michael was
- 1:54:56guilty because the medical examiner said Christine's time of death was around one thirty am,
- 1:55:04way before Michael left for work. Sergeant Don Woods reports they had a
- 1:55:10good case and he was one hundred percent sure Michael was guilty. Guys,
- 1:55:15even back in the eighties, we knew they could not give a specific time
- 1:55:20of death. We still can't today say this person died at one thirty Right.
- 1:55:31Anytime somebody says I'm one hundred percent positive, I there's you're overcompensating.
- 1:55:39You're you shouldn't even give a percentage. You shouldn't you just shouldn't. You
- 1:55:43shouldn't do half of the stuff that I feel like we're about to hear and
- 1:55:45has already. Oh yeah, he's arrested on September twenty fifth. On September
- 1:55:51twenty seventh, you know, just days after he was arrested, John Cross
- 1:55:57sent Detective Woods a copy of a cancer check he had just gotten back from
- 1:56:01the bank. And guys, I'm gonna stop here. Do you remember we
- 1:56:04used to get back an envelope with all the checks you had written in the
- 1:56:09month before. No. No, by the I think by the time,
- 1:56:16I was really like, I remember I used to get a whole envelope with
- 1:56:23every check. I'm like, how do you have a check from your husband
- 1:56:26if they sent it back? But anyway, he called to say he had
- 1:56:31just gotten a check back from the bank. He had sent Christine and Michael
- 1:56:36a check for Eric as a gift because of the surgery being successful. They
- 1:56:44wanted him them to go buy something for Eric. The check had been cash
- 1:56:48with a forged signature, and Christine's purse had been stolen during the murder and
- 1:57:01a check was cashed. If it's been cashed, do you not have camera
- 1:57:11of who might have done this? Maybe in eighty six they didn't at the
- 1:57:15bank here's this. The police didn't look into it, of course not.
- 1:57:20Of course they didn't. Why why would you think so? Follow a lead,
- 1:57:27guys. He was arrested September of eighty six. You're not gonna believe
- 1:57:32this. He went to trial in eighty seven. Oh, I mean that
- 1:57:38is fast. I mean that is fast because Michael wasn't worried because he knew
- 1:57:45he was one hundred percent innocent. They didn't have any evidence because he was
- 1:57:49at work at work. So now let me tell you about the pro secutor,
- 1:58:00mister ken Anderson. He was a prosecutor on Michael's case, and ken
- 1:58:09Anderson's theory was that Michael killed his wife the night of his birthday because Christine
- 1:58:14refused to have sex with him for his birthday. Now, Michael later says,
- 1:58:21there is a documentary out there, an Unreal Dream, and it's really
- 1:58:27good. If you want to go watch it, you can find it for
- 1:58:30free to watch. He admits, He goes, yeah, we went out,
- 1:58:33it was my birthday. We were celebrating. We had drinks. He
- 1:58:36goes, my wife fell asleep. He goes, how often does that happen?
- 1:58:44And I got to thinking if doubleh Ever, got asked that question.
- 1:58:48I would be embarrassed if he gave the number of times a false before he
- 1:58:55makes it in the benuroom. I feel like a normal human being would be,
- 1:59:01like, they have a three year old child who just had major heart
- 1:59:06surgery. The bitch be tired, not the bitch, the woman. I
- 1:59:11said, bitch, but not in a bad way. But yeah, because
- 1:59:15I bitch, and I'd be tired. So I mean, it's not only
- 1:59:19that, like they just both went through this. You think that's the first
- 1:59:23thing on his mind. I really don't think so. And he killed her
- 1:59:27because she wouldn't put out Yeah, that's yeah, and a lot of people
- 1:59:33would be Anderson dismissed the defense theory that an intruder killed Christine and stole her
- 1:59:40purse. You know, they basically thought that Michael got rid of the purse.
- 1:59:47So I do need to say that this trial was Ken Anderson's biggest career
- 1:59:53that early on in his life, and several of the jurors that are interviewed
- 1:59:58said that Ken did a great job during the trial. He was well prepared
- 2:00:02and they trusted everything he said. So, guys, what does that tell
- 2:00:08you? They didn't really consider the evidence because there was none. They believed
- 2:00:16the prosecutor's story. So one interesting thing is that that detective would was on
- 2:00:25the witness list, yet Ken Anderson never called him to the stand, instead
- 2:00:32called the sheriff to the stand to talk about the investigation in the mini pages
- 2:00:39of reports that were filed, but didn't bring the actual person who investigated it.
- 2:00:46This sounds like making a murder yep. Well, the medical examiner testified
- 2:00:55that Christine was murdered at one point fifteen, a m dead on not a
- 2:01:00timeframe. She was dead at one fifteen based on her stomach temperature. Okay.
- 2:01:13Defense brought in two other medical examiners, both who said you could not
- 2:01:19say one hundred percent the time of death based on a stomach temperature or body
- 2:01:27temperature, So everybody was over compensating. Uh huh. And let's remember the
- 2:01:34neighbors heard screams right before she was found and Michael was at work. Yes,
- 2:01:43okay, So Michael was found guilty guys, by the jury, and
- 2:01:50he was sent immediately to prison at the wind Unit. Luckily he was given
- 2:01:56life without parole and not the death penalty. I mean, guys, this
- 2:01:59is Texas. You know you look at somebody wrong. They have no problem
- 2:02:09killing anyone. I mean, guys, there was no evidence that he committed
- 2:02:14this murder. Now, the sad thing is her family also trusted Ken Anderson
- 2:02:20and the detective and they believed them that Michael killed his wife. Now,
- 2:02:27Michael was granted Okay, wait before I get to that. So Michael says
- 2:02:32in that documentary that there was no time to prepare for prison. He said,
- 2:02:40you go, and it is reality in the face when they strip you
- 2:02:44down into a strip search in cavity search within an hour or two of you
- 2:02:53being sent to prison. I mean, there's no time to prepare. And
- 2:02:59remember he was a guy who believed in the system and said he was innocent.
- 2:03:05There was no evidence. How could he be convicted? Right? So
- 2:03:11he was granted mandatory visitation every six months with his son Eric. I found
- 2:03:17that interesting because normally they terminate your parental rights if the family asked for it.
- 2:03:24I don't know if they didn't do it back then or what, but
- 2:03:27he was granted visitation and his sister in law had to bring Eric to visit
- 2:03:32him in prison every six months. And Eric quinn No, Yeah, what's
- 2:03:42interesting to me is like it's almost like they gave him this, knowing that
- 2:03:47he knew he'd have to be on his best behavior in order to maintain those
- 2:03:51and so it would keep him in check from having to appeal or whatever for
- 2:03:56the risk of losing his visitation. Nop. He filed his appeals. He
- 2:04:01did not let that stop him. He accepted his fate, but he didn't
- 2:04:10stop fighting for the truth. Now, the sister in law would sit there
- 2:04:15with Eric as he visited, and of course look at Michael with pure hatred
- 2:04:20because she blamed him for killing her sister. I mean, I can't say
- 2:04:27I would blame her for that, right. So Michael says in the film
- 2:04:31An Unreal Dream that over time he felt and noticed Eric getting further and further
- 2:04:36away from him, and that he didn't feel that they had a bond.
- 2:04:42I mean every six months across the table in prison. I mean, you
- 2:04:46can't have a bond, right. So Michael goes on and tells that when
- 2:04:54Eric became a teenager, he wanted to stop visiting his dad in prison,
- 2:05:00and Michael said, I will grant you your wish, but you have to
- 2:05:06come and tell me in person, which Eric did, and they were supposed
- 2:05:17to visit for two hours. It lasted less than two minutes. After Eric
- 2:05:21told him he wouldn't be coming back, Michael looked at his sister in law
- 2:05:26and he said, please take care of my son. So, while in
- 2:05:31prison, Michael did get his bachelor's degree in psychology while waiting for his appeals.
- 2:05:41Now, I'm going to try not to cry. When Eric turned eighteen,
- 2:05:47he wrote his dad a letter letting him know that he was legally changing
- 2:05:50his last name and dropping his dad's name, and that his aunt and uncle
- 2:05:57who raised him were going to adopt him. Michael says that after everything had
- 2:06:05been through with losing his wife, family members, dying, losing appeals,
- 2:06:14fighting for justice, that his son's letter truly broke him. Now. In
- 2:06:24two thousand and two, the Innocence Project reviewed Michael's case and they said it
- 2:06:29was a good case and they believed he got shafted and that he was innocent.
- 2:06:34There was no evidence he was not home. Now it would take years
- 2:06:43for the Innocence Project to get the court to even hear their case. Okay.
- 2:06:47In twenty ten, Michael was offered parole. He could walk out of
- 2:06:51parison that day. He was told if he would only admit and own up
- 2:06:58to killing his wife and talk to his family, talked to his attorneys.
- 2:07:04Guys. His attorney worked pro bono after he was convicted until many many years
- 2:07:12later. And he said, I can't do it. I will not lie
- 2:07:16and say I did this. And all I have left is my innocence of
- 2:07:20my word that should have spoke of volumes to people, to her family,
- 2:07:34you know, because that that says a lot to me, you know.
- 2:07:40So the team of the Innocence Project requested copies of the investigation files. They
- 2:07:45did this through the Freedom of Information Act, and guys, the stuff they
- 2:07:53found in these files that were never turned over to the defense attorney during the
- 2:07:59truth yep. So they found the interview of Eric from when Christine was murdered.
- 2:08:09Eric was asked to describe the person he saw and he said he was
- 2:08:11a monster. And he was asked who is in the house and he said
- 2:08:16Mommy and Eric. And they said was Daddy there and he said, no,
- 2:08:20Daddy's at work. Don Woods the detective and Ken Anderson the DA had
- 2:08:28this information for twenty five years and never turned it over. They should be
- 2:08:37arrested and put in jail. They also never turned over the information about the
- 2:08:43Green van that had been seen. That green van was seen right in the
- 2:08:50area where the bloody bandana was found in jail. They need to be in
- 2:08:58jail, both of them, guys. The Innocent Project's attorney fought for years
- 2:09:07to have the DNA run on that bloody bandana. The new DA said that
- 2:09:15would just muddy the waters. And we don't even know if it has anything
- 2:09:18to do with this case. Why would we waste our time? The courts
- 2:09:22granted the Innocence Project team the right to check it the DNA well. The
- 2:09:31DA of Williamson County filed an appeal say no, it's a waste of time,
- 2:09:37YadA, YadA, YadA, which tells me they knew they had something
- 2:09:41to hide. I don't know that they did, but it just stinks to
- 2:09:45me, right, So they did win the appeal. The DNA was tested
- 2:09:54and it was Christine's blood and the mail that was not Michael. The team
- 2:10:03didn't want to get Michael's hopes up, so they called and said hey,
- 2:10:09because he had never met them in person, Hey, we're seeing another possible
- 2:10:13client. Thought we'd come and meet and say hi, shake hands kind of
- 2:10:16thing, because I wanted to tell him that the DNA does not match you.
- 2:10:24You're not getting out today, but you will get out. Is there
- 2:10:28a video of that? If you watch a there's not a video of them
- 2:10:35having that conversation, but Mark in The Unreal Dream talks about it. I
- 2:10:43have to tell you if I can meet Michael Morton, he lives here in
- 2:10:46Texas, if he sees this, I would love to shake his hand.
- 2:10:54He never got jaded. He never said poor me. His family would put
- 2:11:01money into his commissary account. He would buy like moon pies and share them
- 2:11:07with his fellow inmates, even those he didn't know. And they said he
- 2:11:13kept to himself his feelings about when his appeals were not granted. He would
- 2:11:20just say, yeah it was bad news. Hey it's not looking good.
- 2:11:24He never was woe is me. He never was pity pitiful me. And
- 2:11:30he said he actually made some really good friends in prison. He's he's he
- 2:11:39he looks like such a lovely fellaw he he yeah, So let's get through.
- 2:11:45So then they still needed to run that's him after he got out.
- 2:11:50Yep, they still had to run the DNA through codis to see if there
- 2:11:54was a suspect right that matched the DNA. They got a direct hit on
- 2:11:58a man who had a vast criminal record in multiple states. Marcho. Not
- 2:12:07only would the innocent man in jail, but a very guilty person on the
- 2:12:11streets. Guys, Michael never got to mourn his wife, he lost his
- 2:12:18son. So but it was almost twenty five years to the day of Christine's
- 2:12:26murder that the DNA match was found, guys, and I bet everyone's just
- 2:12:35going to be as surprised as I was and pissed the prosecutor was saying it
- 2:12:41didn't matter and that Michael was still guilty. Now thirty days later, he
- 2:12:50did change his mind, changed his tune. I guess I should say Innocent's
- 2:12:56team went on to locate it where Martin Norwood was living during the time of
- 2:13:00Christine's murder. They also discovered a cold case that happened two years after Christine's
- 2:13:07murder had all of the same features of Christine's murder. And guess what,
- 2:13:15Mark Norwood's DNA was found at the scene of that murder as well. Who
- 2:13:22was he tied to? Who did he know? He didn't They just didn't
- 2:13:26do their job. So the local attorney working on the case for Michael and
- 2:13:33I'm gonna try to keep it together. Called Eric, Michael's son, to
- 2:13:37tell him his father would be getting out and that he was innocent. Eric
- 2:13:43said, I was rude at first because I didn't want anything to mess up
- 2:13:48the life I had built. I was married and I was expecting my first
- 2:13:52child, and I didn't have room or any place in my life for any
- 2:13:58of this drama. He was raised by her family thinking he killed you know,
- 2:14:09they didn't share the good of Michael, and that breaks my heart.
- 2:14:16So as Michael walked out of prison because he was exonerated after twenty five years,
- 2:14:26he walked out with his fellow inmates celebrating his release, clapping, yelling
- 2:14:31and pumping their fist and showing their support. Several of them were interviewed and
- 2:14:37they said, we all knew. There was a lot of guys in prison
- 2:14:41who said I'm innocent, and you could look at them and say, yeah,
- 2:14:45you're full of shit. They said, they all knew, and you
- 2:14:48could tell Michael was a good human and that he loved his wife and that
- 2:14:52he didn't kill her. So the judge that the exoneration brought in front of
- 2:15:01apologize to Michael and his family, and he fully exonerated Michael of the murder
- 2:15:07of his wife, and Michael walked out a freeman with his mother and father
- 2:15:11by his side as he took a breadth of fresh air, sitting next to
- 2:15:16his attorney. Now Eric tells during the filming of An Unreal Dream that when
- 2:15:24he saw his dad on the Internet walking free, that he could feel himself
- 2:15:28changing and that there was proof that what he knew about that part of his
- 2:15:35life was going to change. Michael was freed on October fourth, twenty eleven.
- 2:15:43Mark Norwood was arrested for Christine's murder and was also a suspect in that
- 2:15:50murder of Deborah Baker. Two years after Christine's death, Mark Norwood was convicted
- 2:15:56and sentenced to life in prison on March twenty seven, twenty thirteen. Guys
- 2:16:03Michael went to jail and was convicted a year later. It took two years
- 2:16:09for Mark Norwood to be convicted, and they had DNA and Christine's family said
- 2:16:18they didn't want the death penalty. They wanted him to have life without parole.
- 2:16:22In September twenty sixteen, Mark was convicted of the murder of Deborah Baker.
- 2:16:28Now The Innocence Project filed a report with the Williamson County Courts showing that
- 2:16:33Ken Anderson, the original prosecutor, concealed evidence and tampered with evidence. The
- 2:16:39Court of Inquiry ruled that there was probable cause, and the State bar of
- 2:16:45Texas also brought ethics charges against Ken Anderson, who pled guilty and served ten
- 2:16:52days in jail and surrendered his life license permanently. Guys ten days and think
- 2:17:07of all the money he made in those twenty five years he got to retire
- 2:17:11early, right yep. So the Baker family says that they feel Ken Anderson
- 2:17:18is partly to blame for their leved Ones murder because if kN Anderson would have
- 2:17:24done his job, Mark would have been arrested instead of Michael, and Mark
- 2:17:31would not have been able to murder Deborah Baker. They do not blame the
- 2:17:35detective because remember, Anderson never called the detective to the stand, and now
- 2:17:43we know why the detective would have admitted all of this crap. Right.
- 2:17:54Ken Anderson remains stating that he is in a and you will see if you
- 2:18:01watch the unreal dream that he says, I don't really remember everything from that
- 2:18:05case a long time ago, but I know I didn't do anything wrong.
- 2:18:13Now good news. That is a gross carriage. Uh Uh. He lost
- 2:18:20twenty five years of his life. His wife was murdered, he didn't get
- 2:18:26to grieve her. He was accused of killing the woman he loved, and
- 2:18:31he lost his son for twenty five years plus what hell he went through in
- 2:18:39prison? Right? No, that's gross. In May of twenty fourteen,
- 2:18:50Governor Rick Perry signed the Michael Morton Act in the law to ensure a more
- 2:18:54open discovery process and to help prevent the injustice Michael Morton experienced. So he
- 2:19:03made it more that, not just Brady, that you have to give over
- 2:19:09everything. You can't keep it any of it back. You have to give
- 2:19:16everything right, can't pick and choose. Yeah, did I shunka wants to?
- 2:19:22Did they open any of his old cases? They reopened all of them
- 2:19:28and they're still going through them now. Believe it so. On a positive
- 2:19:37note, Eric and Michael were reunited after his release, and Michael met Cynthia
- 2:19:43may Chessman at church and the two were married. Michael has a relationship with
- 2:19:52his son, his daughter in law, and his granddaughter, who his son
- 2:19:56named after his murdered wife, Chris, and Michael says in the unreal dream.
- 2:20:05He goes, if she ever finds out I have a credit card,
- 2:20:09I'm in trouble because she has me wrapped and she can have anything she wants.
- 2:20:16Ain't that how that goes. Michael was awarded one point nine million in
- 2:20:22state compensation plus a monthly annuity of twelve thousand dollars the one point. I
- 2:20:31was like, that is not oh. When I saw that at first,
- 2:20:35I was like, oh, that is not just. But no, he
- 2:20:39also gets twelve thousand dollars a month. Michael now works, I mean with
- 2:20:45the Innocence Project to help get others out, but also he helps work to
- 2:20:50try to prevent it from happening. Again. Good for it, and you
- 2:20:56know it. I find so fabulous. He doesn't have an ounce of hate
- 2:21:05in him, he said. So many other people are angry and upset.
- 2:21:13He's just very thankful to be out and to be with his family, and
- 2:21:18he doesn't hold any hate in his heart, not even for Ken Anderson.
- 2:21:26So this is one time that we are one hundred percent sure the husband did
- 2:21:31not do it and he was a victim, just like his wife, Christine
- 2:21:35Morton and their son Eric, that although started in tragedy, ended on a
- 2:21:46higher note, and I think that that's a perfect place to probably call it.
- 2:21:54You think it is. I mean, he could have hung himself in
- 2:21:58jail. He could have been bitter, because I have to tell you I'm
- 2:22:03a pretty positive person with everything I've gone through in life, but I don't
- 2:22:09know if I could have remained twenty five years in prison. And in the
- 2:22:16Unreal Dream he talks about how loud it is and hearing people get raped and
- 2:22:22beaten, and I mean, it's not like he had an easy time in
- 2:22:28prison. No, no, So I want to say to Michael Martin,
- 2:22:37you are an inspiration to me because if you can come out of that without
- 2:22:46hate in your heart, I need to be a better person because I don't
- 2:22:52know if I could have done it. I want him to come on.
- 2:22:56I know I am attempting to reach out. I'm ready to reach out,
- 2:23:03and like I said, I would love to meet him in person, buy
- 2:23:07him lunch, because there are so many other people that are in prison that
- 2:23:15are wrongly accused, wrongly convicted, and I think they and their family need
- 2:23:24to know never give up. Never give up, because it may take time,
- 2:23:31but if you can keep that in your heart, you win even if
- 2:23:39you don't get out, you win. Yeah. So that is my case.
- 2:23:46And I am proud that I didn't do anything as dark as you did
- 2:23:50this time. No, you brought the light ultimately. Yeah, I cried
- 2:23:58watching that the So you can watch it on Venmo or vemo or Vimeo something
- 2:24:03like that. You can watch it. He also has a book. I've
- 2:24:09ordered the book and I'm waiting to get the book because I'm like, you
- 2:24:13know what, I have no problem putting more money in that man's pocket,
- 2:24:16because I still I don't think I'm one of those people that I don't think
- 2:24:24what he has gotten is enough. No, not at all. So Ken
- 2:24:31Anderson got ten days in jail. You put a man in prison for twenty
- 2:24:37five years and you get ten days in disbarred, and you know that is
- 2:24:41not justice. You know he was in jail, in a single cell,
- 2:24:46await prison exactly. Oh that's right, that's right. He was in jail,
- 2:24:52County jail. Didn't even go to prison, guys. Well gone.
- 2:25:00Vimeo is online. It's not a streaming service. It looks like anybody can
- 2:25:05upload videos to it and you can watch it. Was free. I googled
- 2:25:09it and I found it. Wow, an unreal dream. I want to
- 2:25:18say it was an hour and a half. I bowled, guys. I
- 2:25:22watched it three times and at first when watching it, I was like,
- 2:25:28Eric, how dare you send your day a letter to change your name?
- 2:25:33And then I had to stop and think. He was raised thinking this man
- 2:25:37killed his mother. He didn't do anything wrong. He was doing what his
- 2:25:43heart told him to do. And I love that when he found out the
- 2:25:50truth, he owned up to it and he has a relationship with his dad.
- 2:25:54I love both of them. Yeah, yeah, absolutely, Well that's
- 2:26:03my story. So I think it's a perfect place to end it is so
- 2:26:07I will say what Nope, not yet, not yet, guys. I
- 2:26:13also, starting next Wednesday, am hosting Midday Missing, where I will highlight
- 2:26:22missing person cases, some that haven't gotten a lot of attention, that are
- 2:26:26older and some that are newer. These will not be investigations, they will
- 2:26:31just be covering it. However, I do have an interview with one of
- 2:26:37the families in a case I'm covering, and if they're open to it,
- 2:26:41I will bring them on as well. So it will be every Monday and
- 2:26:46Wednesday at noon Texas time, and it'll start next Wednesday, yep, yes,
- 2:26:52and then also not this week, but I'm pushing it so that we
- 2:26:56counter weeks. Hey Ho Show will be next Friday. For those of you
- 2:27:01who are taking part in the quizzes, you have until next Thursday at midnight
- 2:27:05to finish it. I've extended it, and then I am also looking at
- 2:27:11the possibility of bringing back Night Court. Yes, yes, Midday Missing will
- 2:27:20be live now. Yes I have Yes, Angie, that is the case
- 2:27:28that you are researching, and I'm speaking with the family on Monday night.
- 2:27:33Also, I want to know when does the Hoe get to be a guest
- 2:27:37on the Hey Hoe Show? Whenever you want to, I d Ho,
- 2:27:46I mean you the Hoe, I'm the host. Sac that is way too
- 2:27:48appropriate and weird. So I don't think. Yes, Midday Missing will be
- 2:27:54on True Crime and Wine time this channel. It is just another piece of
- 2:28:01this And guys, just y'all know I swear I would never cover missing person
- 2:28:05cases because they're so heartbreaking. But after getting to know Chase Lackey's family,
- 2:28:11and I feel like I know Chase so well, We've had so many families
- 2:28:15reach out to us. The least I can do is give up an hour
- 2:28:20of my lunchtime a couple of days a week to get the word out there,
- 2:28:24because, as I've learned with Chase Lackey, if you're not a perfect
- 2:28:28victim who goes missing, law enforcement's not that interested because it would take too
- 2:28:33much work. So if you have any cases you want me to look into,
- 2:28:39please message me on Facebook, email me at Terry at True Crime and
- 2:28:46Wine Time, send it to JT. Get it to me. I would
- 2:28:48be happy to cover it. So yeah, like everything that we mentioned,
- 2:28:56all the shows that we mentioned, they're all going to be here. We're
- 2:29:01trying to build up programming in a way that's responsible both for you all but
- 2:29:09also for us so that there is not burnout, right, because we all
- 2:29:16know that that's a reality. Well, one thing I am doing is I
- 2:29:22am trying to record some of my midday missings to have for whenever my MS
- 2:29:28flares up and I can't do a live show, I can still release content.
- 2:29:33It won't be live, but I'll still do it on the same channel
- 2:29:37and all of that, just because I have to accept reality. There are
- 2:29:43days that I can't get out of bed and I'm not streaming from my bed.
- 2:29:46Guys, I'm not that cute in bed. So here's what here's what
- 2:29:52it needs to happen is we need to get to the point where we don't
- 2:29:56have to work. And then if you have those moment and I can just
- 2:30:00take over for job. So that's our goal. Guys. Whoever wants to
- 2:30:05find a YouTube creators grant in order to keep us from working for a year,
- 2:30:13I think that'd be enough time. Yeah, focused directly on this.
- 2:30:16So whoever wants to write us a grant? Thousand subscribers, Yeah, I
- 2:30:22know we can. We can destroy that and them. There's a lot that's
- 2:30:26gonna happen too if we hit a thousand subscribers, and before I hit the
- 2:30:28close out video, I'll hit that video so you can see that again.
- 2:30:31Yes, but so I think now all that's left to do is for me
- 2:30:37to say I love you guys, take care of yourselves, your friends and
- 2:30:41family, don't let anybody doll your sparkle and shine on you crazy diamonds and
- 2:30:48Terry. I'm to say, stay safe, watch out for crime, enjoy
- 2:30:52your wine time, and get ready to meet Jasper yee man is the very
- 2:31:01Coolly did see? Even if we're weekend is going by this Thursday, Christie
- 2:31:13getting the bostan, start getting this out of the ground. I cannot buston
- 2:31:20his skin to sell in sales. Start pass out. You can tell about
- 2:31:26looking as showing already, Golls, I love ahead of the sot. The
- 2:31:35wrist standing body has traveled you because I want to go way. Answer that
- 2:31:48I put you out sat to show up I my soul all night and a
