- 1:17Speaker 2: And today we're going to study the book of Jeremiah
- 1:21Speaker 2: chapter 25. We get to jump into a whole new
- 1:25Speaker 2: chapter today. And we're going to cover the first seven chapters. So,
- 1:32Speaker 2: I mean, not chapters, but verses. Verses one through seven.
- 1:36Speaker 2: We're stepping into a powerful message delivered during the reign
- 1:41Speaker 2: of Jehoiim, king of Judah. And so Jeremiah had been
- 1:49Speaker 2: warning God's people to turn away from their wickedness, to
- 1:54Speaker 2: turn to the Lord, but... People continue to ignore the message.
- 2:02Speaker 2: So we're going to look into that today. On the
- 2:06Speaker 2: last episode, we mentioned that Jeremiah, he's been prophesying for
- 2:11Speaker 2: at least 25 years. So we're going to look into that.
- 2:15Speaker 2: And they still ignored the message. But in order for

- 3:56Speaker 2: As we come together, let's go ahead and pray to
- 4:01Speaker 2: our Heavenly Father. Heavenly Father, thank you, Father God, for
- 4:03Speaker 2: your presence. Thank you for your spirit. Thank you for
- 4:07Speaker 2: the anointing, O God, Lord, that you have placed on
- 4:10Speaker 2: this podcast today. We ask, O Lord, that you will
- 4:13Speaker 2: use it, Lord God, to your glory. We ask that
- 4:17Speaker 2: you will attach a blessing to everyone who listens. And
- 4:21Speaker 2: we ask, O God, that souls will get saved, healed, delivered,
- 4:24Speaker 2: and set free. In the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.
- 4:32Speaker 2: All right. So we're going to tackle the first seven
- 4:36Speaker 2: verses in the book of Jeremiah. Chapter 25 in verse one,
- 4:46Speaker 2: it says the word which came to Jehoiakim concerning all
- 4:51Speaker 2: the people of Judah in. I'm sorry, that's Jeremiah. I'm thinking,
- 4:57Speaker 2: all right, the word came to Jeremiah concerning all the
- 5:02Speaker 2: people of Judah in the fourth year of Jehoiakim. There's
- 5:07Speaker 2: a king right there. the son of Josiah, king of Judah.
- 5:13Speaker 2: That was the first year of Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon.
- 5:20Speaker 2: Verse 2. To which Jeremiah the prophet spoke unto all
- 5:25Speaker 2: the people of Judah and to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying,
- 5:32Speaker 2: From the thirteenth year of Jehoiashem, the son of Ammon,
- 5:39Speaker 2: king of Judah, even unto this year, that is the
- 5:44Speaker 2: three and twentieth year the word of the Lord has
- 5:50Speaker 2: come unto me. Now, this is like 23 years that
- 5:55Speaker 2: the Lord has been using the prophet to prophesy. And
- 6:00Speaker 2: I have spoken unto you, rising early and speaking, but
- 6:05Speaker 2: you have not hearkened can you imagine hearing a prophecy
- 6:12Speaker 2: this long and ignoring it and the Lord has sent
- 6:19Speaker 2: unto you all his servants the prophets rising early and
- 6:23Speaker 2: sending them you have not hearkened nor inclined your ear
- 6:29Speaker 2: to hear they said turn ye again now everyone from
- 6:35Speaker 2: his evil way And from the evil of your doings.
- 6:41Speaker 2: And dwell in the land that the Lord has given
- 6:44Speaker 2: unto you. And to your fathers forever and ever. Verse 6.
- 6:51Speaker 2: And go not after other gods to serve them. And
- 6:55Speaker 2: to worship them. And provoke me not to anger. With
- 7:02Speaker 2: the works of your hands. And I will do you
- 7:06Speaker 2: no hurt. Verse seven, yet you have not hearkened unto me,
- 7:15Speaker 2: says the Lord, that you may provoke me to anger,
- 7:20Speaker 2: which with the works of your hands to your own hurt. Wow,
- 7:29Speaker 2: these are some strong words. That is the word of
- 7:35Speaker 2: the Lord. Amen. All right, let's jump back. Let's break
- 7:45Speaker 2: down these passages. So Jeremiah's message is placed within a
- 7:51Speaker 2: specific historical period right here. The fourth year of King
- 7:55Speaker 2: Jehoiakim corresponding to the first year of Nebuchadnezzar's rule in Babylon.
- 8:03Speaker 2: So there's a little history lesson, right? This timing matters
- 8:07Speaker 2: because Judah was approaching a major turning point. in its
- 8:12Speaker 2: history as Babylon rose to power and God's warnings of
- 8:17Speaker 2: judgment became increasingly urgent. Now, could you imagine growing up?
- 8:25Speaker 2: Like we're talking about 23 years in history. So no
- 8:33Speaker 2: doubt Nebuchadnezzar was a young man, just learning, just getting started.
- 8:38Speaker 2: learning how to be the ruler of Babylon. And finally,
- 8:43Speaker 2: when he gets old enough to get everything together, he
- 8:47Speaker 2: knows what he's doing. He's coming after Judah. I could
- 8:55Speaker 2: imagine this. Now let's establish what's happening now. Judah had
- 9:00Speaker 2: a long history of turning away from God. How many
- 9:05Speaker 2: of us have had that? experience ourselves. I am not
- 9:13Speaker 2: happy to say that I've turned away from God more
- 9:15Speaker 2: often than I wish I had. Amen. But they had
- 9:21Speaker 2: a history of it and the Lord had sent prophets
- 9:24Speaker 2: to warn the people, but idolatry and justice and disobedience continued.
- 9:33Speaker 2: They continued in their own way. So Jeremiah identifies the
- 9:42Speaker 2: timing of this message. The fourth year of Jehoiakim is
- 9:47Speaker 2: associated with the rise of Nebuchadnezzar as Babylon's dominant leader.
- 9:56Speaker 2: More like a dictator. This isn't just a random historical detail.
- 10:06Speaker 2: It reminds us that God's word was delivered into real history,
- 10:12Speaker 2: to real people facing real consequences. God's warnings weren't empty threats.
- 10:20Speaker 2: Judah's rebellion was bringing the entire nation into crisis. And beloved,
- 10:31Speaker 2: if you think America is not headed for a crisis,
- 10:34Speaker 2: you better get your head off the sand. Just look
- 10:38Speaker 2: at what the Muslim population is doing to our nation.
- 10:45Speaker 2: Look at what they've done already in Europe. and overseas.
- 10:52Speaker 2: No doubt they want to do the same thing to
- 10:57Speaker 2: the United States. And if we don't wake up, we
- 11:03Speaker 2: will find ourselves under Sharia law. By the grace of God,
- 11:07Speaker 2: I pray that it is delayed until all of God's
- 11:11Speaker 2: people are touched. But this is something that we're facing, beloved,
- 11:17Speaker 2: even now in our current country. And trust me, they
- 11:21Speaker 2: do not like Christianity. They do not like Christians.
- 11:25Speaker 1: It looks like you lost another one.
- 11:32Speaker 2: Even though God is sovereign, human beings are still responsible
- 11:40Speaker 2: for their choices. God knows what's going on and he
- 11:48Speaker 2: is Communicating with his people before the consequences fully unfold.
- 12:01Speaker 2: So we sometimes we treat warnings as though they're proof
- 12:05Speaker 2: that God doesn't love us. But a warning can be
- 12:10Speaker 2: an expression of God's mercy. If someone tells you that
- 12:14Speaker 2: you're heading towards danger. They're giving you an opportunity to
- 12:20Speaker 2: change that direction. Amen. Sometimes you'll get a warning at
- 12:25Speaker 2: work and they're asking you to change your behavior, change
- 12:30Speaker 2: your actions, change your habits. That's the same thing as
- 12:36Speaker 2: the word of God. When God gives us a warning,
- 12:39Speaker 2: he's giving us a chance to get it right. So
- 12:45Speaker 2: when God's word expresses something wrong in our lives, we
- 12:49Speaker 2: should not automatically treat that correction as it is an
- 12:54Speaker 2: attack on us or on our character. God's word will
- 13:01Speaker 2: hurt our pride, which is a good thing. Our arrogance
- 13:05Speaker 2: is thrown out the window. We need to approach the
- 13:07Speaker 2: word of God with humility. We should consider whether The
- 13:13Speaker 2: Lord is showing us something that we need to address.
- 13:17Speaker 2: We need to give it full focus and full attention. Amen.
- 13:25Speaker 2: Verse two, the message was delivered publicly. Now, Jeremiah delivered
- 13:31Speaker 2: the Lord's message to the people of Judah and to
- 13:36Speaker 2: the inhabitants of Jerusalem. Warning was not limited to a
- 13:42Speaker 2: private conversation with the king or a small group of leaders.
- 13:48Speaker 2: It was directed to the people who needed to hear
- 13:53Speaker 2: and to respond to what God is telling us. Amen.
- 14:00Speaker 2: What's going on? My laptop is humming. If you're in
- 14:04Speaker 2: a humming noise, I apologize. The top is going crazy
- 14:09Speaker 2: here in the background. Alright, I'm back. Had to get
- 14:14Speaker 2: rid of that noise. So where was I? Yeah, this
- 14:19Speaker 2: is God delivers a message. It is there to give
- 14:25Speaker 2: us a chance to get right. He addressed the entire nation,
- 14:30Speaker 2: not just a small group of people. So notice that
- 14:36Speaker 2: Jeremiah spoke to the people, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
- 14:42Speaker 2: God's message was not simply a private opinion Jeremiah kept
- 14:48Speaker 2: to himself. He was called to deliver it to the
- 14:52Speaker 2: people who needed to hear it. And they needed to
- 14:56Speaker 2: hear it with urgency. But being a messenger of God's
- 15:01Speaker 2: truth is not always a popular position to be in. Amen?
- 15:08Speaker 2: Jeremiah had to speak to the people who are not
- 15:11Speaker 2: necessarily interested in hearing what God had to say. His
- 15:17Speaker 2: responsibility was to deliver the message faithfully, not to change
- 15:22Speaker 2: it or to make everybody comfortable. We are not called
- 15:29Speaker 2: to have everybody like us. If everybody likes us, then
- 15:33Speaker 2: we're doing something wrong. So, This has a direct connection
- 15:40Speaker 2: to our ministry today. Pastors, Bible teachers, Christian artists, podcasters,
- 15:51Speaker 2: and ministry leaders need to communicate the truth of Scripture
- 15:56Speaker 2: with both courage and with humility. We cannot back down.
- 16:03Speaker 2: We should not deliberately make God's Word harsher than it is,
- 16:10Speaker 2: but neither should we remove it to mourning simply because
- 16:15Speaker 2: people might disagree. And that's true in all relationships, right?
- 16:23Speaker 2: There should be a balance there. There's a difference between
- 16:26Speaker 2: speaking the truth in love and avoiding the truth to
- 16:30Speaker 2: protect our popularity. That is just being selfish. At the
- 16:39Speaker 2: same time, we must remember that sharing biblical truth doesn't
- 16:44Speaker 2: give us the permission to be arrogant, to be cruel
- 16:48Speaker 2: or self-centered or self-righteous. The goal is to represent God faithfully. Amen.
- 16:58Speaker 2: Not to make ourselves look superior, not look down on others,
- 17:02Speaker 2: not be judgmental or prideful. A lot of people... or
- 17:08Speaker 2: turned away from Christianity because of the behavior of the Christians.
- 17:14Speaker 2: But our responsibility is to communicate God's word accurately, even
- 17:19Speaker 2: when it challenges the people listening, including ourselves. Amen. I
- 17:27Speaker 2: was challenged the other day. I had a brother call
- 17:30Speaker 2: me and we've been talking and partnering together. And he
- 17:34Speaker 2: challenged me with the word. There were some things that
- 17:36Speaker 2: I needed to change in my household. And he, through
- 17:41Speaker 2: the charge of the Holy Spirit, challenged me to do so.
- 17:44Speaker 2: So keep me in prayer as I have to step
- 17:50Speaker 2: it up. Verse 3, 23 years of warning. Now this
- 18:01Speaker 2: is what I was talking about even in the last episode.
- 18:04Speaker 2: It was a long time. Jeremiah explained that the Lord
- 18:07Speaker 2: had been speaking through him for 23 years. Beginning in
- 18:13Speaker 2: the 13th year of Josiah, the king, his reign, he
- 18:19Speaker 2: had personally delivered God's message, but the people had refused
- 18:25Speaker 2: to listen. And it's tragic when we turn a deaf
- 18:30Speaker 2: ear to God's word. His repeated efforts show the seriousness
- 18:38Speaker 2: of their continued disregard for the Lord's warning. It is
- 18:46Speaker 2: scary when people can disregard the word of God and
- 18:50Speaker 2: God's word tells us to get right. Don't let the
- 18:53Speaker 2: sun go down on our anger and we ignore it.
- 18:55Speaker 2: And I'm guilty of that, beloved. That is a scary thing.
- 19:00Speaker 2: We need to reconcile as soon and as quick as
- 19:05Speaker 2: possible when things go awry in our relationships. So this
- 19:16Speaker 2: verse should make us stop and think Jeremiah had been
- 19:20Speaker 2: faithfully delivering God's message for approximately 23 years. This was
- 19:28Speaker 2: not one warning that the people missed. This was not
- 19:33Speaker 2: a single opportunity to repent. God had been calling them
- 19:39Speaker 2: back repeatedly. The verse says Jeremiah had been rising up.
- 19:50Speaker 2: early to speak. This expression emphasizes his persistent effort to
- 19:58Speaker 2: deliver the message. Jeremiah was faithful to the call. Yet
- 20:04Speaker 2: the people would not listen even after all that. Now,
- 20:10Speaker 2: think about how easy it is for us to become
- 20:13Speaker 2: comfortable with ignoring correction. And that's a scary place to be.
- 20:21Speaker 2: Maybe the Bible addresses our anger, but we keep expressing it.
- 20:26Speaker 2: We keep making excuses about our anger. Maybe the scripture
- 20:29Speaker 2: confronts our dishonesty. But we tell ourselves that everyone does
- 20:36Speaker 2: it anyway. Maybe we know that we need to forgive somebody,
- 20:43Speaker 2: stop a destructive habit or change the way we're treating
- 20:49Speaker 2: our family. But we keep putting it off. Tomorrow is
- 20:57Speaker 2: a lie. Today is the day of salvation. Today is
- 21:00Speaker 2: a day to get it right. And a lot of
- 21:04Speaker 2: us don't get it right because we think we have time.
- 21:08Speaker 2: But over time, we can become so accustomed to resisting
- 21:13Speaker 2: correction that we barely feel challenged anymore. Man, I pray
- 21:21Speaker 2: that none of us will ever get to that place
- 21:28Speaker 2: to where we are indifferent to the things of God. Now,
- 21:41Speaker 2: the question is that how many sermons have you heard?
- 21:44Speaker 2: The question is whether you're allowing God's word to shape
- 21:49Speaker 2: how you live. That's the question. If the Lord has
- 21:56Speaker 2: already shown you something, you need to address whatever God
- 22:01Speaker 2: has revealed. You don't have to keep waiting for more
- 22:10Speaker 2: conviction to move in obedience. Just obey what God has
- 22:18Speaker 2: already showed you. Verse four, God kept sending his servants.
- 22:27Speaker 2: So God did not rely on Jeremiah alone. He sent
- 22:32Speaker 2: other prophets to call the people back to him. Their
- 22:38Speaker 2: repeated efforts demonstrate that Judah had been given many opportunities
- 22:45Speaker 2: to hear God's warning, yet the people continued to refuse
- 22:51Speaker 2: the message. So this verse expands the picture, right? It
- 23:00Speaker 2: shouldn't just be one person in ministry. Jeremiah was not
- 23:08Speaker 2: the only speaker. God had sent other prophets as well.
- 23:13Speaker 2: The people had received repeated warnings through different messages, but
- 23:17Speaker 2: they still refused to listen. God has an army, man.
- 23:26Speaker 2: This shows us something about the patience and persistence of God.
- 23:31Speaker 2: We continue to He continued sending messages to call his
- 23:37Speaker 2: people away from destruction and towards repentance. But it also
- 23:43Speaker 2: reminds us that access to truth does not guarantee that
- 23:48Speaker 2: a person will accept it. Imagine the people living in
- 23:54Speaker 2: places where the truth is not as acceptable as it
- 23:59Speaker 2: is or accessible, accessible. as it is here in our country.
- 24:06Speaker 2: So you can hear a sermon every week and you
- 24:09Speaker 2: can still refuse to obey God. Going to church is
- 24:13Speaker 2: just a part of it. You can read the Bible
- 24:17Speaker 2: every morning and still resist the part that confronts our behavior.
- 24:23Speaker 2: Do not pick and choose what verse that you're going
- 24:26Speaker 2: to believe. We need to believe the entire counsel of
- 24:29Speaker 2: the word. You can receive wise counsel from several people
- 24:36Speaker 2: and continue insisting that everyone else is wrong. That is
- 24:43Speaker 2: a prideful and an arrogant heart when you think you're
- 24:47Speaker 2: right all the time. That's a stronghold. We need to
- 24:59Speaker 2: ask ourselves whether we are genuinely listening or simply waiting
- 25:05Speaker 2: for someone to tell us what we want to hear.
- 25:16Speaker 2: There's also a lesson here about correction from other believers.
- 25:21Speaker 2: Not every criticism is biblical. Not every person who claims
- 25:27Speaker 2: to speak for God is right. We must test the
- 25:33Speaker 2: teachings and the counsel that we receive with scripture. It
- 25:41Speaker 2: must be tested. But when a trustworthy person points out
- 25:49Speaker 2: something that generally aligns with God's word, we should be
- 25:53Speaker 2: humble enough to consider it at least. Amen. Amen. At
- 26:01Speaker 2: least consider what was pointed out. Don't reject a message
- 26:05Speaker 2: simply because you dislike the messenger or dislike what the
- 26:09Speaker 2: message revealed about us. I've been in some difficult services
- 26:17Speaker 2: where my heart was exposed. Don't accept messages simply because
- 26:24Speaker 2: you like the messenger. Examine it carefully. Immature believers willing
- 26:31Speaker 2: to test what they hear. I say all the time,
- 26:37Speaker 2: test it. Don't be afraid to test it. And willing
- 26:41Speaker 2: to obey when God's truth becomes clear. I would say
- 26:47Speaker 2: if I'm teaching something and I realized it was wrong,
- 26:51Speaker 2: I will publicly repent and apologize. Amen. Amen. Verse five,
- 26:58Speaker 2: turn ye again. The prophets repeatedly called the people to
- 27:03Speaker 2: turn away from their evil conduct and return to the Lord.
- 27:11Speaker 2: So the message offers a clear path, abandon wrongdoing, return
- 27:16Speaker 2: to a faithful obedience and remain in the land that
- 27:20Speaker 2: God has intended to bless you with. He gave it
- 27:24Speaker 2: to you and your ancestors. The warning was accompanied by
- 27:31Speaker 2: an opportunity to change our direction. Beloved, we're not going
- 27:37Speaker 2: to hear these warnings forever. We need to be thankful
- 27:43Speaker 2: that God loved us enough to give us a message. Amen.
- 27:51Speaker 2: So the prophets repeatedly called the people to turn away
- 27:55Speaker 2: from their evil conduct. and returned to the Lord. So
- 28:02Speaker 2: the message offered a clear path, abandoned wrongdoing, returned to
- 28:07Speaker 2: faithful obedience, and remained in the land that God had
- 28:12Speaker 2: given their ancestors. The warning was accompanied by the opportunity
- 28:19Speaker 2: by God to change. This is the heart of the message.
- 28:24Speaker 2: God wasn't simply announcing That the people were doing wrong.
- 28:29Speaker 2: He was calling them to turn around. He wants us
- 28:35Speaker 2: to do something about it. Don't just acknowledge it. Do
- 28:39Speaker 2: something about it. And what needs to be done is
- 28:41Speaker 2: repent and turn back to the true and living God. Now,
- 28:49Speaker 2: the word repent. Repent captures this idea of turning away
- 28:54Speaker 2: from sin and returning to God. Repentance is more than
- 28:59Speaker 2: feeling bad because we got caught. Amen. I'm not going
- 29:06Speaker 2: to tell the story when I got caught stealing out
- 29:10Speaker 2: of Kmart, at least not on this episode. But it's
- 29:15Speaker 2: more than regretting that our choices created problems. Genuine repentance
- 29:23Speaker 2: involves recognizing our sin, agreeing with God and his truth
- 29:30Speaker 2: about sin, and turning towards obedience. We have to follow
- 29:38Speaker 2: all of these steps. Let's be clear about something here.
- 29:43Speaker 2: Repentance does not mean we earn God's love by becoming perfect.
- 29:50Speaker 2: It doesn't mean that at all. It means we stop
- 29:54Speaker 2: defending ourselves our rebellion and respond to God's truth with
- 30:00Speaker 2: a willing heart. So notice this, that the message was personal.
- 30:09Speaker 2: Everyone from his wicked ways, each person needed to examine
- 30:15Speaker 2: their own conduct. It's easy to talk about what other
- 30:22Speaker 2: people need to change, but We need to identify problems
- 30:28Speaker 2: in our own community, our own churches, our own workspace,
- 30:32Speaker 2: and our culture around us. But God's word also asks
- 30:40Speaker 2: us to examine ourselves, right? Am I treating people honestly?
- 30:48Speaker 2: Am I honoring my commitments? Am I allowing pride to
- 30:53Speaker 2: control my decisions? Am I living one way in public
- 30:59Speaker 2: and another way in private? We cannot control whether other
- 31:05Speaker 2: people repent. We can, however, take responsibility for our own
- 31:11Speaker 2: responsibility to God. A lot of people tell you, especially
- 31:17Speaker 2: if you're trying to get over some type of substance,
- 31:21Speaker 2: one of the first things they try to do is
- 31:23Speaker 2: to take personal responsibility. responsibility for your actions. Because if
- 31:29Speaker 2: you think it's always somebody else, then you think that
- 31:35Speaker 2: you don't have the power. You would think that things
- 31:37Speaker 2: will change when that other person changes. When no, in
- 31:41Speaker 2: all reality, God is willing to change you right here
- 31:46Speaker 2: and right now. Choices that we make can really affect
- 32:02Speaker 2: the outcome of this. Notice the promises of dwelling in
- 32:08Speaker 2: the land. God was telling Judah and he was calling
- 32:13Speaker 2: them back to the covenant, calling them back to faithfulness,
- 32:18Speaker 2: not merely asking them how they feel. Not just saying, hey,
- 32:24Speaker 2: do you feel guilty about the message? No, you need
- 32:27Speaker 2: to come back to your faithfulness to God. His warning
- 32:31Speaker 2: was meant to bring them to a different way of living.
- 32:39Speaker 2: Don't stop at the feeling of conviction. Take the next
- 32:43Speaker 2: step and turn towards obedience. Amen. Verse six. Don't follow
- 32:53Speaker 2: other gods. Now, God warns the people against following and
- 32:56Speaker 2: worshiping other gods and provoking him through the works of
- 33:03Speaker 2: their hands. Now, have you ever thought your hands? Your
- 33:08Speaker 2: hands are very personal to us, very intimate to our body.
- 33:13Speaker 2: Probably one of the most important pieces in the body part.
- 33:19Speaker 2: And you can look at your hands Look at your
- 33:23Speaker 2: hand right now. I don't care if you have to
- 33:25Speaker 2: pause the podcast, but look at your hand and just
- 33:29Speaker 2: think you could either please God or you could upset
- 33:34Speaker 2: God and break his heart with what I do with
- 33:37Speaker 2: these hands. Idolatry was a central part of Judah's rebellion.
- 33:46Speaker 2: The people were being called to abandon false worship and
- 33:51Speaker 2: return to God is a jealous God, right? When we
- 34:03Speaker 2: hear the word idolatry, we might picture statues, altars, or
- 34:08Speaker 2: even ancient religious ceremonies, but idolatry is not limited to
- 34:14Speaker 2: the ancient world. Anything we elevate above God can be
- 34:22Speaker 2: begin to compete for our loyalty, shape our decisions, and
- 34:28Speaker 2: take control of our priorities. We need to be careful
- 34:33Speaker 2: for that. Many can become an idol. We can be
- 34:43Speaker 2: a person that we admire or we think that we
- 34:47Speaker 2: are our own gods. Money, fame, religious relationships, religion, entertainment, success,
- 34:57Speaker 2: even ministry, beloved, can become an idol that can take
- 35:02Speaker 2: us away from God's righteous standards. Now, that doesn't mean
- 35:11Speaker 2: money and relationships and music and all that stuff is
- 35:15Speaker 2: automatically wrong. The issue is whether we love something so
- 35:21Speaker 2: much that we are willing to disobey God to keep it.
- 35:25Speaker 2: I'm going to say that again. The question is loving
- 35:33Speaker 2: something or someone so much that we're willing to disobey
- 35:40Speaker 2: God to keep it in our lives. For example, if
- 35:44Speaker 2: Gaining popularity requires us to compromise biblical truth. What will
- 35:51Speaker 2: we choose? Amen. It's easy to say what we will
- 35:58Speaker 2: do when we're not in the situation, but we really
- 36:05Speaker 2: need to settle in our hearts that we will choose
- 36:08Speaker 2: the Lord. If keeping a relationship means continually ignoring what
- 36:14Speaker 2: scripture says is right, what will we choose? If making
- 36:22Speaker 2: more money requires us to abandon our integrity, what again
- 36:29Speaker 2: will we choose? Those decisions reveal what is truly ruling
- 36:38Speaker 2: our hearts. Amen. The Lord told Judah not to provoke
- 36:49Speaker 2: him with the works of their hands. Again, he's bringing
- 36:52Speaker 2: up their hands. Their idolatry was not an innocent mistake.
- 36:59Speaker 2: They were repeatedly choosing false worship over the God who
- 37:07Speaker 2: had called them to himself out of Egypt and all
- 37:15Speaker 2: the uttermost parts of the world. So for us, the
- 37:20Speaker 2: challenge is to examine what receives our highest loyalty. What
- 37:28Speaker 2: are you loyal to above everything else? If it's not God,
- 37:33Speaker 2: it could be an idol. So whatever we refuse to
- 37:41Speaker 2: surrender to God can... Begin to compete with God for
- 37:46Speaker 2: control in our lives. Whatever we decide not to surrender.
- 37:58Speaker 2: Verse seven, it says disobedience to their own hurt. Now,
- 38:06Speaker 2: this is a crazy part right here. God concludes this section.
- 38:10Speaker 2: By identifying the people's refusal to listen as the cause
- 38:17Speaker 2: of their continued provocation against him. The actions would ultimately
- 38:25Speaker 2: bring harm upon themselves. Their disobedience was not merely offensive
- 38:32Speaker 2: to God. It was destructive to their own well-being. That
- 38:39Speaker 2: reminds me of the lyric. I might be dating myself,
- 38:42Speaker 2: but Dr. Dre says, when you diss me, you're dissing yourself. Amen, beloved.
- 38:54Speaker 2: We need God in all areas of our lives. Now,
- 39:02Speaker 2: this verse brings a warning home. God says that people
- 39:07Speaker 2: have refused to listen And their actions were bringing harm
- 39:12Speaker 2: upon themselves. Now, think about that phrase. To your own hurt.
- 39:21Speaker 2: Sin often promises us freedom while leading us into bondage.
- 39:27Speaker 2: Pride promises that we never have to escape. we're wrong,
- 39:32Speaker 2: but it can destroy relationships. Dishonesty promises an easy way out,
- 39:41Speaker 2: but it damages trust. And greed promises security, but it
- 39:48Speaker 2: can consume our lives. Unforgiveness may feel like protection, but
- 39:58Speaker 2: it can keep us trapped in bitterness. Not every painful
- 40:06Speaker 2: circumstances in our life is the direct result of a
- 40:10Speaker 2: person's sin. We should never use this verse to blame
- 40:14Speaker 2: people for every hardship that they experience. But Jeremiah's message
- 40:20Speaker 2: to Judah is clear. Their present rebellion was leading them
- 40:25Speaker 2: towards real consequences. I can't believe they resisted for 23
- 40:31Speaker 2: years even to hear Jeremiah. God's commands are not arbitrary
- 40:43Speaker 2: obstacles designed to keep us from enjoying life. His word
- 40:48Speaker 2: reveals what is true, what is right. and what leads
- 40:54Speaker 2: us away from destructive rebellion. When God corrects us, we
- 41:08Speaker 2: should consider that his warning may be protecting us from harm.
- 41:13Speaker 2: But we cannot see. The question is whether We'll listen
- 41:19Speaker 2: before the consequences become more serious in our lives. God's
- 41:26Speaker 2: correction is an opportunity to turn around before we travel
- 41:32Speaker 2: further down the wrong path. So here's the major points
- 41:42Speaker 2: out of the chapter. God is patient, but we must
- 41:48Speaker 2: not take his patience for granted. Repentance requires a response.
- 41:57Speaker 2: We need to turn away from our sin and rebellion
- 42:01Speaker 2: has consequences. Every time we gamble against the word, we
- 42:07Speaker 2: will lose. We will always get snake eyes. Now, I
- 42:10Speaker 2: don't know how to gamble and I don't know if
- 42:13Speaker 2: snake eyes is good or bad. But the point I'm
- 42:17Speaker 2: trying to say is that you can never get away
- 42:26Speaker 2: from God's word, his warnings and his blessings. It's better
- 42:33Speaker 2: just to stay faithful. All right, take a break.

- 44:55Speaker 2: All right, fam, we are back from the break. Brand
- 44:58Speaker 2: new by our sister. Childlike CC. It is time for
- 45:05Speaker 2: the accountability partner. But before we get into that, I
- 45:08Speaker 2: want to give a huge shout out to the live chat.
- 45:11Speaker 2: Shout out to our brother Zone 3. Thank you for
- 45:14Speaker 2: in this up in the replay the other day. We
- 45:17Speaker 2: had technical issues a couple of podcasts ago, a couple
- 45:21Speaker 2: of days ago. And it's good to get back on here.
- 45:25Speaker 2: Good to see you back on here, brother. Shout out
- 45:30Speaker 2: to our brother. And everyone else who likes to log
- 45:35Speaker 2: through and come, come through and show love. We show
- 45:38Speaker 2: you love right back. We appreciate it. And as we said,
- 45:42Speaker 2: it's time for the accountability partner. It's good to have
- 45:45Speaker 2: somebody to pray with someone who can speak the word
- 45:49Speaker 2: of God and God's will to our lives. Speak over
- 45:52Speaker 2: our marriages and our homes. Amen. So we give a challenge.
- 46:00Speaker 2: On our podcast, you can read it in the live chat.
- 46:05Speaker 2: Actually go over to the community. You can read it there.
- 46:08Speaker 2: We moved everything over to the community. So we have
- 46:11Speaker 2: more space and more things we can do. Make sure
- 46:15Speaker 2: you like, subscribe and leave us a comment. Sometimes just
- 46:20Speaker 2: the smallest comment makes a huge difference. But we tell
- 46:27Speaker 2: you to call, contact your accountability partner and go over
- 46:30Speaker 2: these topics. These topics are just suggestions that you guys
- 46:33Speaker 2: could discuss. So this week's challenge is stop ignoring the warning.
- 46:44Speaker 2: Take the time to answer these three questions. What is
- 46:49Speaker 2: one area of my life where I know God's word
- 46:53Speaker 2: calls me to make a difference? Have I been making
- 46:58Speaker 2: excuses or postponing my obedience? And what practical step can
- 47:08Speaker 2: I take this week to respond faithfully to God and
- 47:14Speaker 2: his call? Pray for each other And follow up during
- 47:27Speaker 2: the week. If you identify a change that you need
- 47:33Speaker 2: to make, take a real step towards it rather than
- 47:38Speaker 2: simply promising to do better. Man, whatever that looks like,
- 47:44Speaker 2: take an actual step. Remember, accountability is most effective when
- 47:52Speaker 2: it helps us move from good intentions to faithful actions. Amen.
- 47:59Speaker 2: We need to move away from just intending to do
- 48:04Speaker 2: the right thing. But we have to actually do the
- 48:08Speaker 2: right thing.
- 48:09Speaker 1: Amen.
- 48:09Speaker 2: Amen. We also want to remind you that his high

- 48:57Speaker 2: to do the trivia. Shout out to Zone 3. He
- 49:01Speaker 2: is our trivia champion. But is there someone today that

- 49:47Speaker 2: is the question. According to Jeremiah 25.3, in which year
- 49:56Speaker 2: of King Jehoiachin's reign did the word of the Lord
- 50:02Speaker 2: first come to Jeremiah? And how many years does Jeremiah
- 50:08Speaker 2: say that he had been speaking by the time of
- 50:13Speaker 2: this message? The first one posted is a trivia champ
- 50:24Speaker 2: for today. Also, we want to give do our community
- 50:29Speaker 2: shout out. We are partnering with Metro Police Department today.

- 51:20Speaker 2: you that His Hop Radio is a monitored and a
- 51:24Speaker 2: reporting radio station. I already mentioned that His Hop Nation
- 51:29Speaker 2: is a 501c3, a nonprofit organization. We opened a Christian
- 51:35Speaker 2: club back in 2012. We're looking to relaunch and reopen
- 51:39Speaker 2: a new location, but we need support from y'all, from
- 51:43Speaker 2: our community. As a nonprofit, we are looking for donations,
- 51:47Speaker 2: monthly sponsors. We're looking for grant and grant writers. And
- 51:52Speaker 2: the good news is it's all tax deductible. You can
- 51:56Speaker 2: write it all. As you sow into good ground. So
- 52:01Speaker 2: we ask that you would consider. Being a supporter. And
- 52:06Speaker 2: you can do so on our website. Hishotnation.com Just hit
- 52:10Speaker 2: the donations tab. And also on the app. His Hot Radio.
- 52:14Speaker 2: Same thing. Hit that donations tab. Alright beloved. That is
- 52:23Speaker 2: my time today. For today's podcast. But let's close with
- 52:29Speaker 2: some closing remarks. Jeremiah 25 verses 1 through 7 reminds
- 52:37Speaker 2: us that God has been warning Judah for years. And
- 52:42Speaker 2: he sent his servants, communicated his truth, and called the
- 52:48Speaker 2: people to turn away from their evil ways. Now, you
- 52:52Speaker 2: know that it's a true message when God The message
- 52:58Speaker 2: tries to get you to turn from an evil habit
- 53:02Speaker 2: or evil way. But here's the thing, because God has
- 53:06Speaker 2: given us free will. They refuse to listen. So their
- 53:14Speaker 2: story warns us not to become so comfortable with disobedience
- 53:19Speaker 2: that correction no longer affects us. If God's word exposes
- 53:25Speaker 2: something in our lives, we have a choice. We can
- 53:30Speaker 2: make excuses, blame ourselves or blame other people. And we
- 53:37Speaker 2: can continue down the same path or we can humble ourselves,
- 53:42Speaker 2: repent and take the next step towards obedience. Don't mistake
- 53:50Speaker 2: God's patience for approval. Of anything that you do. Don't treat.
- 53:58Speaker 2: God's correction. As though he is against you. Take his
- 54:05Speaker 2: word seriously. Examine your heart. Turn away from what is wrong.
- 54:09Speaker 2: And keep moving forward. Keep. Moving forward. Amen. Well, thank
- 54:18Speaker 2: you for joining us on another episode of the His
- 54:21Speaker 2: Heart Radio podcast. Presents verse by verse. Keep studying the scripture.

- 54:46Speaker 2: not about us. It's all about the Christ in us.
- 54:48Speaker 2: God bless.
- 55:01Speaker 3: You are listening to the light of Las Vegas. This
- 55:05Speaker 3: is the His Hop Radio Show.
