Transcript
- 0:08Speaker 1: Welcome to the Favorites. I am Chad Melman from the
- 0:12Speaker 1: Action Network. It is Wednesday, the week between the Super
- 0:18Speaker 1: Bowl in the conference championship games, which was this past Sunday,
- 0:24Speaker 1: and they were insane. Um. So as usual, I'm gonna
- 0:30Speaker 1: have Bob Scucci on, so we're gonna talk about this.
- 0:33Speaker 1: I'm a little depressed about all of it. Still, it's
- 0:35Speaker 1: hard for me to get over it. Let me bring
- 0:38Speaker 1: the man on, Mr Bob Scucci from New Orleans and
- 0:58Speaker 1: all the boy giving books in the state and of
- 1:00Speaker 1: how are you, man? I'm good. How are you? What's
- 1:02Speaker 1: going on? Sound good? It's a rough weekend, man, tell me.
- 1:08Speaker 1: I mean it was a rough weekend for me too.
- 1:10Speaker 1: I mean, we escaped, we ended up a little bit
- 1:12Speaker 1: of a little bit of a winner, but that Rams
- 1:15Speaker 1: game was just ugly. I mean we talked about we
- 1:18Speaker 1: opened three and a half, um went down to three.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Everything was on the Rams moneyline, the Rams um we needed,
- 1:26Speaker 1: we needed the Saints. We thought we had it there
- 1:29Speaker 1: and just slipped away. You know, I just watching all
- 1:33Speaker 1: the the Saints players and coaches in the postgame interviews,
- 1:37Speaker 1: I felt like it was me on there because expressing
- 1:42Speaker 1: my exact disappointment I feel you man, like, tell me
- 1:47Speaker 1: what you were thinking when when that play happened. I mean,
- 1:52Speaker 1: there's only one play to talk about. Yeah, I mean
- 1:55Speaker 1: I just was looking for the flag, you know, I'm
- 1:57Speaker 1: just used to watching, uh, the bottom part of the
- 2:00Speaker 1: screen like everybody else, waiting for the little yellow light
- 2:04Speaker 1: to come on the bottom of the screen and say flag,
- 2:07Speaker 1: and I never saw it. And then sometimes you know,
- 2:10Speaker 1: they don't show it, but then you see the uh
- 2:12Speaker 1: the referee, you know, uh a shot of the ref
- 2:16Speaker 1: making the call, and it was so loud in the
- 2:19Speaker 1: sports book, I really couldn't hear the sound on the TV.
- 2:22Speaker 1: So I was just like everybody else, just waiting to
- 2:24Speaker 1: see a ref with the signal of pass interference and
- 2:28Speaker 1: uh never came. And then it was just shock, like
- 2:31Speaker 1: that was the game right there, because you know, the
- 2:33Speaker 1: field goal did us really no good. We were looking
- 2:37Speaker 1: for the touchdown. So when when they had that long
- 2:39Speaker 1: kind of hail Mary passed to to get down to
- 2:42Speaker 1: like the Levener ball yard line, We're thinking, Okay, we
- 2:45Speaker 1: got a shot for the Saints to get the touchdown,
- 2:47Speaker 1: cover the three and a half points, and uh and
- 2:50Speaker 1: then game over. Uh. So the field goal was better
- 2:54Speaker 1: than losing the game out right, but it still wasn't
- 2:57Speaker 1: as good as the touchdown. So um that that call really,
- 3:01Speaker 1: you know, changed everything for everybody. Did you see that today? Um,
- 3:06Speaker 1: today's Tuesday. We're recording on Tuesday, A Saints season ticket
- 3:10Speaker 1: holders sued the NFL. I didn't see that, but um,
- 3:19Speaker 1: I saw a lot of different kind of promotions trying
- 3:23Speaker 1: to kind of capitalize on things, uh, you know, for
- 3:28Speaker 1: for for many years in Las Vegas. Any kind of
- 3:31Speaker 1: any kind of thing that happens like this, you know,
- 3:34Speaker 1: once you pay out aside, I mean, that's pretty much it.
- 3:38Speaker 1: You can go back and and start saying, uh, okay,
- 3:42Speaker 1: we're stripping this team, like the like the USC national
- 3:45Speaker 1: championship team, we're stripping them of their uh national championship.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Ten years later, and then out of the woodwork, we
- 3:52Speaker 1: get people from that had tickets on Auburn that year saying, well, listen,
- 3:55Speaker 1: Auburn won the national championship because they stripped USC, and
- 3:59Speaker 1: we we would like to get paid. So it's a
- 4:02Speaker 1: dangerous road to go down when you start, uh, trying
- 4:05Speaker 1: to change and rewrite history after the fact. I mean,
- 4:08Speaker 1: it was a bad call. Everyone admits that it's a
- 4:10Speaker 1: bad call, but that's accept the consequences and let's let's
- 4:13Speaker 1: move on. What do you think of There is a company,
- 4:17Speaker 1: a new gaming company in New Jersey called Points Bet Yeah,
- 4:21Speaker 1: that offered refunds to everybody who had the Saints minus three. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 4:26Speaker 1: I saw that, and it's uh, and it's a promotion.
- 4:29Speaker 1: You know, they were able to go in and look
- 4:32Speaker 1: and see how much it would cost the company if
- 4:34Speaker 1: they did it. It's up to a hundred dollars. So
- 4:36Speaker 1: I'd hate to be the guy with a hundred and
- 4:38Speaker 1: ten dollar bet that says, I'm sorry, it's up to
- 4:40Speaker 1: a hundred, or I'm not sure if they would honor
- 4:44Speaker 1: everything up to a hundred. And then you know, like
- 4:47Speaker 1: if you have a two thousand dollar ticket, do they
- 4:49Speaker 1: honor it up to a hundred. I don't know. But
- 4:51Speaker 1: but it's basically a promotion. It's an upstart company that's
- 4:54Speaker 1: probably going to be spending thousands and thousands of dollars
- 4:57Speaker 1: on advertising anyway just to get there aim out there.
- 5:00Speaker 1: So this was kind of an inexpensive way to kind of, uh,
- 5:04Speaker 1: like I said, capitalize on what happened in the game.
- 5:08Speaker 1: I was so heavily invested on the Saints at one point, Um,
- 5:13Speaker 1: you could live bet that game and you could have
- 5:15Speaker 1: had the Rams at plus eleven and a half. And
- 5:19Speaker 1: I did not bet that, but I did double down
- 5:22Speaker 1: and bet the Saints minus two and a half. Um,
- 5:27Speaker 1: I did bet the over forty five and a half.
- 5:29Speaker 1: I live bet that. But basically everything I wanted lost right.
- 5:34Speaker 1: And I also had like a Saint's Chief's money line parlay,
- 5:36Speaker 1: which was no fun and in addition to having the
- 5:39Speaker 1: Chiefs minus three, but I did have the over in
- 5:42Speaker 1: that game, so that felt good. And after the game,
- 5:46Speaker 1: I walked into the kitchen and my wife was in
- 5:48Speaker 1: there on Sunday night, and she's like, what's going on?
- 5:51Speaker 1: And I'm like, everything that could go wrong went wrong?
- 5:56Speaker 1: Like in every way, everything we needed we lost. And
- 6:01Speaker 1: she's like, oh my god, what happened? And I told
- 6:02Speaker 1: her about Greg's our line and the field goals, and
- 6:05Speaker 1: my wife is so sweet and like only sees good
- 6:09Speaker 1: and light and she's like, oh my god, and I'm
- 6:13Speaker 1: like I know, she goes that is so exciting for
- 6:16Speaker 1: the kicker. I'm like, I'm like, that's what you're taking
- 6:22Speaker 1: from this whole thing, like I lost all these bets.
- 6:26Speaker 1: I'm in misery. I haven't spoken to anybody in five
- 6:29Speaker 1: hours because of this. Our son left the house. I
- 6:32Speaker 1: didn't even know he was gone because I was so
- 6:35Speaker 1: locked in on these games. And the only thing you
- 6:37Speaker 1: can take away from this is that you're really happy
- 6:39Speaker 1: for the kicker for the rams. She's like, it seems
- 6:42Speaker 1: like a really big deal that would have never occurred
- 6:47Speaker 1: to me. Never, not once did I think I'm sad
- 6:51Speaker 1: I lost the bet. But I am so excited for
- 6:55Speaker 1: Greg Zerline because he really it really seemed was like
- 7:00Speaker 1: that's cool, you know what I mean, Yeah, that's that's
- 7:03Speaker 1: like the consolation to say, yeah, you know what, I
- 7:05Speaker 1: got annihilated today, But god, I feel good. I'm thinking
- 7:08Speaker 1: is fuck you Greg's ear alone. Fuck you for booming
- 7:11Speaker 1: a fifty seven year field goal that nobody had any
- 7:14Speaker 1: business making. That cost me money. Uh so you did
- 7:18Speaker 1: you lay three or three and a half? Three? Okay,
- 7:21Speaker 1: so you were so it didn't I know a lot
- 7:23Speaker 1: of people that laid three and a half. We're we're
- 7:26Speaker 1: kind of looking for the touchdown and overtime, which you know,
- 7:29Speaker 1: that's what you have to hope for. Well, listen, I
- 7:31Speaker 1: was hoping. Honestly, I got a little greedy, Okay, So
- 7:35Speaker 1: I was hoping for um, it was twenty twenty twenty, right, yeah,
- 7:42Speaker 1: it was when they threw that past the ted again
- 7:45Speaker 1: and I was thinking to myself, Oh my god, I've
- 7:48Speaker 1: got a chance to get the touchdown, have this cover
- 7:51Speaker 1: the Saints bet and get the over. Uh And then
- 7:54Speaker 1: all that all went to hell? Right, So then it'y
- 7:57Speaker 1: and then I even though like I had the Saints future,
- 8:01Speaker 1: I had the Saints money line parlay, like I had
- 8:03Speaker 1: all this stuff tied up in the Saints, I was
- 8:05Speaker 1: going to push the minus three. I kind of got
- 8:08Speaker 1: greedy and I thought I'd be okay with the Rams
- 8:12Speaker 1: driving down the field goal, driving down the field, kicking
- 8:15Speaker 1: a field goal, getting me my over and give me
- 8:17Speaker 1: a chance to win my side and stay alive for
- 8:20Speaker 1: the money line parlay. I actually thought that, how awful
- 8:23Speaker 1: is that? What I was like rooting for one bet
- 8:27Speaker 1: against three? But I was so like intent because I
- 8:31Speaker 1: was going to be so close to winning, like I
- 8:33Speaker 1: had forty five and a half, I needed to get
- 8:35Speaker 1: the forty six. I'm like, are you kidding me? How
- 8:39Speaker 1: awful is that? Thinking that's pretty awful. I gotta tell you,
- 8:43Speaker 1: that's all. Do you think I jinxed people? It's you
- 8:48Speaker 1: singlehandedly took down the Saints. Let me just tell you,
- 8:51Speaker 1: because if you had been rooting the way you're supposed
- 8:53Speaker 1: to be rooting, they probably would have won, no joke.
- 8:57Speaker 1: If I had been rooting for the Saints the appropriate
- 9:00Speaker 1: way just to win out right, yeah, none of this
- 9:02Speaker 1: would have happened. Exactly, bad person, damn it. I at
- 9:10Speaker 1: least I when the over in the Chiefs game. Yeah,
- 9:12Speaker 1: you know, it was disappointing for us, Like we were
- 9:14Speaker 1: able to kind of put in a bunch of scores
- 9:17Speaker 1: in the system to see how much we win or
- 9:19Speaker 1: lose on you know, the cold what ifs, and we're
- 9:22Speaker 1: doing a bunch of what ifs on the Patriots game
- 9:25Speaker 1: after the Rams, and we're like, there's no way to
- 9:29Speaker 1: win on this next game. There was no score that
- 9:32Speaker 1: put us in a positive uh now, I mean we
- 9:35Speaker 1: were up a little bit on the on the after
- 9:38Speaker 1: the Saints Rams game, even though you know, when you
- 9:41Speaker 1: lose a game, there's still a lot of losing tickets
- 9:44Speaker 1: that a lot of parleys don't kick in yet, So
- 9:46Speaker 1: you're kind of in the plus and we're doing all
- 9:49Speaker 1: the what ifs in the second game and we lose
- 9:51Speaker 1: every every scenario Patriots and over Patriots and under Chiefs
- 9:55Speaker 1: and over Chiefs and under the only possible way we
- 9:58Speaker 1: were going to win, as if the Chiefs had won
- 10:01Speaker 1: by exactly one or two and it stayed under. So
- 10:06Speaker 1: we weren't hoping for much there were we uh and
- 10:08Speaker 1: we had we had a shot actually, but not not
- 10:11Speaker 1: much of one. And uh so anyway we it. Uh
- 10:16Speaker 1: that's how big the Saints Rams game was for us.
- 10:18Speaker 1: And then going into the Patriots game, I mean, exciting,
- 10:21Speaker 1: exciting to watch, but it's kind of at that point
- 10:25Speaker 1: the wind was out of my sales because now it's
- 10:27Speaker 1: just a matter of how much we're gonna lose on
- 10:29Speaker 1: this game. So I probably wasn't watching it with as
- 10:32Speaker 1: much emotion as some other people. Um. I got to
- 10:36Speaker 1: talk about the fact that this is the episode where
- 10:40Speaker 1: we launched to get your Prop up in Vegas contest. Yeah,
- 10:44Speaker 1: so every year, uh Scooch and I if you're new
- 10:47Speaker 1: to the podcast, but every year Scooch offers the opportunity
- 10:50Speaker 1: for a fan to get their own prop up on
- 10:53Speaker 1: the board at the Orleans in Las Vegas. Um, So
- 10:58Speaker 1: it's a really great test. And later on in the show,
- 11:01Speaker 1: we're gonna have a lot of fun because a former
- 11:03Speaker 1: winner and a guy who entered last year and got
- 11:07Speaker 1: mentioned on the podcast. Um, have a great story of
- 11:11Speaker 1: meeting because of the podcast. And then get your prop
- 11:15Speaker 1: up in Vegas Contest. They're gonna come on the show.
- 11:17Speaker 1: They're gonna talk about sort of that story and how
- 11:19Speaker 1: Serendipito is and it's just funny. Um, they're both funny guys.
- 11:22Speaker 1: And it's one of the past winners of the contest too,
- 11:24Speaker 1: so he can give you his secrets. Um. But it's
- 11:28Speaker 1: really a blast, Scooch tell people give people some of
- 11:32Speaker 1: your parameters. Yeah, so it's got to be something interesting,
- 11:36Speaker 1: something that can generate a little bit of a conversation.
- 11:39Speaker 1: But the thing to keep in mind is it has
- 11:41Speaker 1: to fall within the Nevada gaming regulations, meaning you can't
- 11:46Speaker 1: have a prop. We can't put a prop up that
- 11:48Speaker 1: says how many times is the camera going to flash
- 11:51Speaker 1: to somebody's wife or how many you know, what color
- 11:54Speaker 1: is the the gatorade that they pour on the coach,
- 11:58Speaker 1: or the length of the nash in the anthem Uh,
- 12:01Speaker 1: these are the kind of things that maybe they're able
- 12:03Speaker 1: to do in far away jurisdictions, but we're governed by
- 12:06Speaker 1: the Gaming Control Board and we have to go to
- 12:09Speaker 1: an official site for the results, and that official site
- 12:13Speaker 1: in this case will be NFL dot com or and
- 12:16Speaker 1: the NFL website or the NFL official stats. So it
- 12:19Speaker 1: has to be decided kind of on the field of play.
- 12:21Speaker 1: But it doesn't mean we can't get really creative in that.
- 12:25Speaker 1: We've had some really great ones over the over the
- 12:27Speaker 1: past years. So uh, that's why. Uh Um, it's kind
- 12:31Speaker 1: of fun to kind of see how much you can
- 12:33Speaker 1: push the line and still be kind of within the regulations.
- 12:37Speaker 1: It's awesome. I love it. Uh. If you want to
- 12:39Speaker 1: enter the contest, go to You have to email because
- 12:43Speaker 1: what we need is your address. We need to be
- 12:45Speaker 1: able to get in touch with you if you win,
- 12:47Speaker 1: and so go to favorites prop at gmail dot com.
- 12:53Speaker 1: F A V O R I T E S P
- 12:57Speaker 1: R O P at gmail dot com. It's prop at
- 13:00Speaker 1: gmail dot com. Go there to enter. You have until
- 13:03Speaker 1: um Sunday afternoon to enter scooch and I need the
- 13:09Speaker 1: answers by Monday morning because we are going to announce
- 13:12Speaker 1: the winner in the live uh podcast we are doing
- 13:16Speaker 1: on janu at Follies in Manhattan at six pm. We
- 13:20Speaker 1: will announce the winner there and that podcast will be
- 13:24Speaker 1: out during the weekend, so you'll be able to hear
- 13:25Speaker 1: it and you'll find out. But your part, you're the winner,
- 13:28Speaker 1: will already know and you'll get your prop up in
- 13:31Speaker 1: Las Vegas at the Orleans and it'll go up by
- 13:34Speaker 1: that Wednesday. That right, Scooch, That's right. So yeah, it
- 13:37Speaker 1: doesn't give us much time to sift through all these,
- 13:39Speaker 1: but yeah, get them in favorites prop at gmail dot com.
- 13:44Speaker 1: Favorites prop at gmail dot com. Get him in by Sunday.
- 13:48Speaker 1: Sunday Sunday, have you posted props yet? We are working
- 13:54Speaker 1: on them. And it was funny because Uh, everybody can't
- 13:58Speaker 1: wait for these props to come on, and we put
- 14:00Speaker 1: them up the same time every year as everyone in town.
- 14:03Speaker 1: It's usually about a week before them come out. But
- 14:07Speaker 1: yet every year people have a short memory because on
- 14:10Speaker 1: Monday or Tuesday, they're just all asking for the problem.
- 14:14Speaker 1: Where the props where the problem? Like like as soon
- 14:17Speaker 1: as the game ends on Sunday night, we're like furiously
- 14:20Speaker 1: entering everything into the computer and getting them out there.
- 14:23Speaker 1: I mean, there's a lot of work involved in these things. Yeah,
- 14:25Speaker 1: it's massive, but it's amazing to me, like how much
- 14:28Speaker 1: people love props now and like the Super Bowl props especially.
- 14:31Speaker 1: It'll be a big part of the show. We're doing
- 14:33Speaker 1: the live podcast obviously for Action Network go download the
- 14:36Speaker 1: free app and Action network dot com. Massive amount of
- 14:39Speaker 1: props covers that we're gonna do. We love player props.
- 14:41Speaker 1: We're doing them every week on the site anyway, So um,
- 14:45Speaker 1: you can imagine how we're just gonna double down pun intended.
- 14:48Speaker 1: I'm player props and props in general for the Super Bowl. Uh,
- 14:52Speaker 1: that's go ahead, can't wait listen? Well, well, I'm cutting
- 14:56Speaker 1: you off because I want to talk about one thing
- 14:57Speaker 1: because we want to get to the guests and we're
- 14:59Speaker 1: gonna have them much longer conversation next week when we
- 15:02Speaker 1: talk about all the props in uh, the lines and
- 15:04Speaker 1: sort of how they're moving. But we do have to
- 15:06Speaker 1: have an initial conversation about how Vegas opened the line,
- 15:11Speaker 1: the line move in your initial take. Yeah, so you
- 15:15Speaker 1: know we have the um all the possible lines as
- 15:19Speaker 1: the NFC and an f C Championships are still going
- 15:22Speaker 1: going on, and almost every scenario had the NFC favored
- 15:26Speaker 1: by one and a half to two points. Prior to
- 15:29Speaker 1: both games starting. It was gonna be almost every scenario
- 15:32Speaker 1: was going to be either the Saints one or two
- 15:34Speaker 1: or the Rams one or two versus either the Patriots
- 15:37Speaker 1: or the Chiefs. So that really didn't change much. Now,
- 15:40Speaker 1: we didn't see anything kind of out of the ordinary.
- 15:43Speaker 1: That just made us feel that the line should have
- 15:46Speaker 1: been much different than that. So so we did hang
- 15:49Speaker 1: the Rams uh minus one, and out of the gate,
- 15:54Speaker 1: I mean out of the gate. It was furious, just
- 15:56Speaker 1: bet after bet, sharp guys just pounding on the Patriots.
- 16:00Speaker 1: We quickly went from the Rams minus one to the
- 16:03Speaker 1: Saints minus one. UH stood there for maybe about thirty
- 16:08Speaker 1: minutes at an hour, and then another wave came in
- 16:12Speaker 1: and suddenly we started seeing one and a half twos
- 16:15Speaker 1: popping up. So UH we took some money at minus
- 16:18Speaker 1: one and a half went to two. I think the
- 16:20Speaker 1: bulk of the Patriots money we took was at minus
- 16:23Speaker 1: two before we went to two and a half. And
- 16:26Speaker 1: then all all day Monday was just every bet was
- 16:29Speaker 1: minus the two and a half minus the two and
- 16:30Speaker 1: a half. Um, this was one of the most lopsided
- 16:34Speaker 1: games we've seen, probably since the Broncos played the Seahawks.
- 16:40Speaker 1: I remember a similar line movement when we hung the
- 16:42Speaker 1: game pick and we closed the Broncos a two and
- 16:45Speaker 1: a half point favorite. Uh So, I don't know if
- 16:48Speaker 1: we'll get the same result, but that that was one
- 16:50Speaker 1: of the biggest wins the state ever had in that
- 16:53Speaker 1: Super Bowl, And so I would imagine that this Super
- 16:56Speaker 1: Bowl will either be one of the biggest losses or
- 16:59Speaker 1: one of the biggest is because of how lopside at
- 17:01Speaker 1: the betting is. Wow, where do you think, Hey, why
- 17:06Speaker 1: do you think they started betting the Patriots so heavily.
- 17:08Speaker 1: It's not like the wise guys to be that influenced
- 17:10Speaker 1: by what they're seeing most recently from a team. Yeah,
- 17:19Speaker 1: I'm not really sure what they saw that we didn't see.
- 17:22Speaker 1: I mean, again, we didn't see a need for too
- 17:25Speaker 1: big of an adjustment based off of what we had
- 17:27Speaker 1: the lines um, you know, prior to prior to the
- 17:31Speaker 1: game starting. I mean, the only the only question mark
- 17:34Speaker 1: was was maybe girly and and and the impact that
- 17:37Speaker 1: he did have or didn't have in that game, and
- 17:39Speaker 1: whether or not he'll be a factor in the in
- 17:41Speaker 1: in in the Super Bowl. Uh that that may have
- 17:44Speaker 1: been one of the deciding factors, but we we really
- 17:48Speaker 1: didn't see anything else that would make us want to
- 17:51Speaker 1: change the line from you know, one to two and
- 17:55Speaker 1: a half the other side a three and a half
- 17:56Speaker 1: point line move. Uh So, I oak with a lot
- 18:00Speaker 1: of the kind of Hodgemakers that that I've worked with
- 18:03Speaker 1: over the years, and they feel pretty confident that still
- 18:06Speaker 1: even after the fact that now we're pretty good with
- 18:08Speaker 1: our number, that the Rams should be a one point favorite.
- 18:11Speaker 1: That's what we have. You know, the betting will dictate
- 18:14Speaker 1: the line, which it has, but they feel pretty comfortable
- 18:18Speaker 1: in uh needing the Rams in this one. And when
- 18:22Speaker 1: are you going to go to three? I mean we
- 18:28Speaker 1: may again if I can make a parallel to that
- 18:33Speaker 1: bronchos Seahawks game, which I said I would never go
- 18:36Speaker 1: to three in that one, and Sunday, right around one
- 18:39Speaker 1: o'clock Vegas time, I had enough. I got so much
- 18:43Speaker 1: money on the on the Broncos that I finally went
- 18:45Speaker 1: to three and it just got gobbled up and then
- 18:48Speaker 1: within five minutes I went back to five two and
- 18:50Speaker 1: a half. So if anything it'll be closer to game
- 18:55Speaker 1: time if if I go to three, certainly looks like
- 18:59Speaker 1: it will go though. I heard from a bookmaker today
- 19:02Speaker 1: I saw maybe I sat on Twitter, Um he went
- 19:06Speaker 1: to three just to experiment and it lasted for less
- 19:09Speaker 1: than eighteen minutes. Wow. Well, I mean everyone that likes
- 19:14Speaker 1: the rams now is gonna wait so there. If if
- 19:17Speaker 1: there were people, I will say, I will say one thing.
- 19:20Speaker 1: I went to two and a half when there were
- 19:22Speaker 1: still one and a halfs in town. I did kind
- 19:24Speaker 1: of the same thing Sunday night where I wanted to
- 19:27Speaker 1: test the waters and see if anyone would grab the rams.
- 19:31Speaker 1: So I went to two and a half and immediately
- 19:33Speaker 1: got a plus two and a half bet from from
- 19:37Speaker 1: one of the sharp guys that I've I've known over
- 19:39Speaker 1: the years. But then everyone else came up to two
- 19:42Speaker 1: and a half and then that was the end of it,
- 19:43Speaker 1: and then there was no more sharp action on the
- 19:46Speaker 1: rams at all. So again, if there are people out
- 19:49Speaker 1: there that want the rams, I would imagine that they're
- 19:51Speaker 1: all sitting there waiting to see if they can grab three,
- 19:54Speaker 1: either now or closer to game time, because they're pretty
- 19:57Speaker 1: confident now that it's not gonna go back down own
- 20:00Speaker 1: to two or one and a half. So they know
- 20:02Speaker 1: they can get plus two and a half, that's guaranteed,
- 20:05Speaker 1: but it's better to wait to see if they can
- 20:07Speaker 1: get plus three. Do you think it's better it's of
- 20:10Speaker 1: more value to bet on the rams and the money
- 20:12Speaker 1: line if it's a two and a half, it's that short. Yeah,
- 20:16Speaker 1: that's what everyone does. And so again that was the
- 20:19Speaker 1: reason for the uh why when I said that the
- 20:23Speaker 1: Chiefs Patriots game last Sunday, that the only way we
- 20:26Speaker 1: could win is if the Chiefs one by one or two.
- 20:29Speaker 1: And that was the reason because everyone that was betting
- 20:31Speaker 1: the Patriots were not only taking the points, but a
- 20:34Speaker 1: lot of them are just taking the Patriots on the
- 20:36Speaker 1: money line. So that's usually our best case scenario when
- 20:40Speaker 1: the favorite wins and doesn't cover in the super Bowl.
- 20:42Speaker 1: Because most people, the average betters that the guys that
- 20:45Speaker 1: are coming up just betting fifty bucks a hundred bucks.
- 20:48Speaker 1: If they're going to take the dog, they usually want odds.
- 20:51Speaker 1: They want you know, plus one thirty plus one forty,
- 20:54Speaker 1: whatever they can get. Nobody likes to lay one fifty
- 20:58Speaker 1: to win a dollar. So the people that are bet
- 21:00Speaker 1: in the favorite are laying the points, laying the two
- 21:03Speaker 1: and a half, and the people that are taken the
- 21:05Speaker 1: dog are taking them on the money line. So again,
- 21:08Speaker 1: it would be our best case scenario if the Patriots
- 21:13Speaker 1: one by either one or two. I really want to
- 21:16Speaker 1: bet the Rams now, I will say. I mean we
- 21:20Speaker 1: have not had good luck with the Patriots. I mean
- 21:24Speaker 1: they this is there what ninth super Bowl? The very
- 21:27Speaker 1: first one when they played the Rams back in oh one,
- 21:32Speaker 1: we got annihilated on the money line because the Rams
- 21:36Speaker 1: were in. They closed an eleven and a half point
- 21:38Speaker 1: dog with us, and everybody had them on the on
- 21:41Speaker 1: the money line at three to one, four to one,
- 21:43Speaker 1: whatever they can get, whatever they got, and we got
- 21:46Speaker 1: crushed on that one. And then more recently, out of
- 21:49Speaker 1: the last uh five Super Bowls the Patriots were in,
- 21:53Speaker 1: we lost every one of them. Uh. When I say lost,
- 21:56Speaker 1: I mean we had our our worst outcome. Sometimes we
- 21:59Speaker 1: can still have our worst possible scenario and still come
- 22:02Speaker 1: out on the plus side and hold you know, a
- 22:04Speaker 1: half of one percent or one percent, but it's it's
- 22:08Speaker 1: not the winning combination. Um. You know, last year we
- 22:12Speaker 1: needed the Patriots to to beat the Eagles. We lost
- 22:15Speaker 1: that one a couple of years ago when Seattle was
- 22:17Speaker 1: on the one yard line. We needed Seattle to beat
- 22:19Speaker 1: the Patriots. We lost that one. Uh. We just haven't
- 22:23Speaker 1: had had great luck with the Patriots. You had uh.
- 22:27Speaker 1: You just said in the first Super Bowl the Patriots
- 22:31Speaker 1: closed as eleven and a half point dogs to the Rams,
- 22:33Speaker 1: and you had three to one money on the Patriots
- 22:36Speaker 1: on the money line. No, I think it was higher
- 22:39Speaker 1: for because it was it was minus six dollars. I
- 22:42Speaker 1: think there were plus four plus four hunter and you
- 22:46Speaker 1: had a ton of money on that. Oh yeah, yep.
- 22:49Speaker 1: That was the year. I think uh. Even uh Charles
- 22:53Speaker 1: Barkley had bet uh uh at one of the other properties.
- 22:57Speaker 1: He made a big bet on the money line, and
- 23:00Speaker 1: it was kind of well publicized that he uh that
- 23:03Speaker 1: he had the Patriots uh to win straight up. Wow.
- 23:08Speaker 1: And then that was kind of the beginning of the
- 23:10Speaker 1: whole fad of betting the big dogs to win straight
- 23:14Speaker 1: up because then twice the Giants were big, big underdogs
- 23:18Speaker 1: against the Patriots, and everybody bet the Giants to win
- 23:20Speaker 1: straight up. We lost both of those two. Oh my god,
- 23:26Speaker 1: that's awesome. I'm taking some notes because I'm working on
- 23:28Speaker 1: a story about all the years in which the Patriots
- 23:32Speaker 1: have been in the Super Bowl and betters have gotten
- 23:33Speaker 1: just fucked. But it sounds like it sounds like more
- 23:36Speaker 1: likely like betters do Okay, it's the books that get fucked. Yeah.
- 23:41Speaker 1: I think the only one where the where the betting
- 23:43Speaker 1: public got screwed was the Eagles Patriots with Donovan McNabb
- 23:48Speaker 1: and the Patriots won but didn't cover. And again that
- 23:52Speaker 1: was our you know, our best outcome. Yeah, yeah, I
- 23:56Speaker 1: remember that game. But yeah, the recently, uh hasn't been good. Well,
- 24:03Speaker 1: not for you, not for us. Yeah, even that that
- 24:07Speaker 1: ugly Falcons game. We finally thought that the Patriots and Falcons,
- 24:11Speaker 1: that we were on the right side because we needed
- 24:13Speaker 1: the Falcons in that one, and then they come storming
- 24:15Speaker 1: back to kill us. But last year you needed the Eagles.
- 24:19Speaker 1: We didn't need the Eagles. We needed the Patriots last year. Yeah,
- 24:24Speaker 1: that's that's yeah. Yeah, everyone came came in on the Eagles.
- 24:28Speaker 1: But doesn't allow of this get balanced out now with
- 24:30Speaker 1: like all the props, Like yeah, so that's what I'm
- 24:34Speaker 1: saying when I say we lose, Like if you look
- 24:36Speaker 1: statistically for the state of Nevada, there's really only been
- 24:40Speaker 1: a couple of years where the entire state UH actually
- 24:44Speaker 1: comes out in the negative. But you have to understand
- 24:47Speaker 1: that includes all the future bets, It includes all the props,
- 24:51Speaker 1: all the parlay cards, well the first half the second half,
- 24:55Speaker 1: so it's you know, it doesn't single out just the
- 24:59Speaker 1: side and total and money line of the game itself.
- 25:02Speaker 1: There's been many times where we lose big on the
- 25:06Speaker 1: game itself and then make it back in either futures
- 25:10Speaker 1: or UH like I said, first and second half wagering,
- 25:13Speaker 1: or or the props mm hmm. The Patriots, they do wonders, man.
- 25:22Speaker 1: So like now, if I want to bet the Rams,
- 25:24Speaker 1: I probably want to bet them on the money line,
- 25:25Speaker 1: which I'm gonna do. I think that's what I'm gonna do.
- 25:28Speaker 1: What do you think of the total highest total lever?
- 25:30Speaker 1: Does that make you nervous at all? Yeah? We tried
- 25:34Speaker 1: to make it as sigh as we can. We got
- 25:36Speaker 1: pounded on the under h. We were as high as
- 25:38Speaker 1: fifty eight and a half. We're down to actually we're
- 25:41Speaker 1: high as UH fifty nine and we're down to fifty
- 25:44Speaker 1: seven and a half right now. The sharp guys can't
- 25:47Speaker 1: get enough of the under um and uh, you know
- 25:50Speaker 1: the first half of both these games looked like, uh,
- 25:54Speaker 1: you know that the defenses would would prevail, and that's
- 25:57Speaker 1: what I guess the sharp guys are looking for in
- 26:00Speaker 1: the super Bowl. But we all the public money is
- 26:04Speaker 1: on is going to be on parlays with either side
- 26:06Speaker 1: tied to the over, so we know that going into it. Uh.
- 26:10Speaker 1: It always kind of sucks that we have to keep
- 26:12Speaker 1: the total as low as it is now because we
- 26:14Speaker 1: know the sharp guys are betting at two weeks ahead
- 26:17Speaker 1: of time. But then by closer to game day, you'll
- 26:19Speaker 1: probably see this thing go right back up to fifty
- 26:23Speaker 1: eight and a half, maybe even fifty nine. Scooche. I
- 26:27Speaker 1: want to I want to get us to Our guests

- 28:58Speaker 1: your prop up in Vegas. Contest is at the center
- 29:02Speaker 1: of UM. We've been doing this contest for years. Scooch
- 29:05Speaker 1: and I used to do it over at ESPN. UM.
- 29:09Speaker 1: We have brought it over to the Action Network. We
- 29:11Speaker 1: did it last year. UH. It's fantastic and UM right now,
- 29:16Speaker 1: I have two former entrances from the super from the
- 29:21Speaker 1: Prop contest. I almost called it the super Contest, Scooch,
- 29:24Speaker 1: and that would have made you sad. Um from the
- 29:26Speaker 1: Get Your Prop Up in Vegas CONTs a super prop contest,
- 29:28Speaker 1: it is very super prop contest from your Get Your
- 29:31Speaker 1: Prop Up in Vegas contest. One is a former winner.
- 29:34Speaker 1: One is Um, an entrance who got a shout out
- 29:38Speaker 1: on the podcast last year. UH. And the story of
- 29:42Speaker 1: them together is truly wonderful and can only happen because
- 29:47Speaker 1: of gambling and this podcast. First up, we're gonna go
- 29:52Speaker 1: with Brian and you first, because Brian didn't win, so
- 29:55Speaker 1: I want to save it for the winner. I want
- 29:57Speaker 1: the winner to go second. Brian. It's going on, brother,
- 30:00Speaker 1: Say Chad, how are you good? Alright? So, Brian, remind
- 30:05Speaker 1: everybody where you're from and the prop you entered into
- 30:10Speaker 1: the contest last year. So I'm from New York. Uh.
- 30:15Speaker 1: And last year I entered my prop that the Big
- 30:19Speaker 1: Baller bet uh somewhat I will play on the Big
- 30:22Speaker 1: Baller brand, which swept the nation last year. UH. And
- 30:29Speaker 1: that prop that was essentially odds on any football player
- 30:36Speaker 1: scoring a touchdown Brady Brandon cooked at the time, who's
- 30:40Speaker 1: still in the Patriots, Garrett Blount, um, so on and
- 30:44Speaker 1: so forth. And I mean it was more of a
- 30:47Speaker 1: gimick than anything else with the with the Big Baller
- 30:52Speaker 1: uh name, which is why I guess it's a runner
- 30:56Speaker 1: up rather than the winner. But at least I got
- 30:59Speaker 1: the out, you got the shout out. I think I remember.
- 31:02Speaker 1: We just liked it for its creativity. We liked the
- 31:04Speaker 1: way it connected to pop culture. Um, it's so funny.
- 31:09Speaker 1: Like you watch movies that have pop culture references, and
- 31:14Speaker 1: the best ones, they often feel dated after the fact.
- 31:18Speaker 1: And like Scooch in retrospect, I'm so glad we didn't
- 31:22Speaker 1: choose this because how how dated, Like it wouldn't stand
- 31:29Speaker 1: the test of you know what I mean. And we're
- 31:31Speaker 1: about We're about being in a time capsule and being
- 31:36Speaker 1: relevant thirty years from now. And I can't think if
- 31:39Speaker 1: anybody is going to be less relevant than the Big
- 31:42Speaker 1: Baller Brain. So, um, I'm glad we didn't choose it.
- 31:45Speaker 1: What about you, scooch in retrospect, Well, all of the
- 31:49Speaker 1: props are always supposed to be topical and topical of
- 31:52Speaker 1: of of that particular time. If you go back to
- 31:54Speaker 1: a lot of the ones that we used. Uh, they
- 31:58Speaker 1: were just relevant at the time and don't know that
- 32:00Speaker 1: any of them really can stand the test of time
- 32:04Speaker 1: ten fifteen years later. Why do you hate me? Uh,
- 32:13Speaker 1: just just being real, you are being But it's also
- 32:16Speaker 1: a good point, like you want to part of the
- 32:18Speaker 1: you know, and and Brian was sort of playing at
- 32:20Speaker 1: the spirit of contest. You want to get something up
- 32:22Speaker 1: there that people are going to be excited about, that
- 32:24Speaker 1: they're gonna feel connected to, that makes them giggle, right, Like,
- 32:27Speaker 1: oh my god, I've got to get the big baller.
- 32:29Speaker 1: I've got to bet the big baller prop, because like,
- 32:31Speaker 1: who doesn't want to bet on that? It's like, okay,
- 32:33Speaker 1: I'm you know what, I'm totally wrong. I don't know
- 32:35Speaker 1: why we didn't have Brian win last year. Yeah, it's
- 32:39Speaker 1: to Chad, you already welcome back on it. Maybe let's
- 32:43Speaker 1: get to Brian's let's get to Brian's friend. Uh. Next
- 32:47Speaker 1: up on the podcast, one of our favorite props of
- 32:50Speaker 1: all time, speaking of pop culture props, the Millennium Falcon prop.
- 32:56Speaker 1: That was I believe two thousand, fourteen fifteen from Mr
- 33:02Speaker 1: Evan Young Evan, welcome back to the podcast. Very good
- 33:08Speaker 1: to be back. Good. How about yourself? I remember Evan
- 33:10Speaker 1: being very funny. No pressure. I well, right, Evan, remind
- 33:18Speaker 1: everybody where you're from and what your prop was from
- 33:24Speaker 1: Philadelphia originally, So last year when I was not on
- 33:28Speaker 1: the podcast, but the Eagles did the did the damn
- 33:32Speaker 1: thing that was That was fun. But living in New York.
- 33:35Speaker 1: Now went a bunch of school in New York. And
- 33:37Speaker 1: two years ago it was talkins versus Patriots, and my
- 33:41Speaker 1: prop was the Atlanta Millennium falcon prop. You know, copyright huge,
- 33:46Speaker 1: remember um, But so the Atlanta Millennium talking. The whole
- 33:51Speaker 1: prop was whether or not Matt Ryan would be a
- 33:54Speaker 1: millennium talking. So we know a millennium is a thousand,
- 33:59Speaker 1: and the prop was will the product of his completions
- 34:04Speaker 1: and attempts be over under a thousand? Or I think
- 34:08Speaker 1: the line set was five. To this day, I still
- 34:16Speaker 1: love that prop. Scooch, give me a response. Yeah, that
- 34:21Speaker 1: was topical too because of the whole Star Wars thing
- 34:24Speaker 1: that year. Right, I mean, I'm not the pulp pop
- 34:28Speaker 1: culture guy, but uh, you know that was extremely relevant
- 34:32Speaker 1: to me. These are two great examples of what the
- 34:35Speaker 1: props need to be if you want to win this contest. Um.
- 34:39Speaker 1: But even better, like Brian, tell me the story of
- 34:43Speaker 1: how you two became friends. Yeah, so a few years
- 34:50Speaker 1: ago I listened to you guys interview Van after he
- 34:53Speaker 1: won the prop contest with his Millennium talking, and you know,
- 35:00Speaker 1: I heard the name and it sounded somewhat familiar. So
- 35:04Speaker 1: naturally I went to social media and kind of did
- 35:07Speaker 1: some research and realized we had some mutual friends. Um.
- 35:13Speaker 1: But at that point I didn't actually reach out to
- 35:16Speaker 1: him yet. Um. And a few months later we ended
- 35:21Speaker 1: up talking at a rehearsal dinner for a few of
- 35:25Speaker 1: our mutual friends where his girlfriend now fiance is. Uh
- 35:33Speaker 1: it was a bridemaid and I was a groomsman and yeah,
- 35:37Speaker 1: we you know, I approached him and then we just
- 35:40Speaker 1: you know, nerded out like a couple, um, a couple
- 35:45Speaker 1: of the generals. That is a beautiful story, Like why
- 35:50Speaker 1: didn't you just reach out to him immediately? What were
- 35:52Speaker 1: what was what were you waiting? I mean it was
- 35:56Speaker 1: you know, it was a little weird, kind of cold
- 36:00Speaker 1: going and kinda saying, hey, I heard you on the podcast.
- 36:03Speaker 1: I don't really know you, but what's up. You shouldn't
- 36:08Speaker 1: be shure shy. When you approached him at the wedding,
- 36:11Speaker 1: what happened? Were you like, hey, dude, I heard you
- 36:13Speaker 1: on the podcast, or like hey, uh, like I want
- 36:16Speaker 1: to hook up with one of the people in the
- 36:20Speaker 1: wedding shower and the bridesmaids, and like I want to
- 36:22Speaker 1: make sure it's not your girlfriend, Like how do you
- 36:23Speaker 1: do that? No? No, so I mean my my girlfriend
- 36:26Speaker 1: was also part of the un party, so you definitely
- 36:30Speaker 1: you definitely want to hook up with someone who was
- 36:32Speaker 1: in the brittle party. Well yeah, I guess I already
- 36:35Speaker 1: had that covered, but um yeah, I mean that's basically
- 36:39Speaker 1: how I approached him with with the you know, I
- 36:41Speaker 1: heard you on the podcast. That's awesome, Evan approached story.
- 36:47Speaker 1: Were you like, were you like this guy's a freak
- 36:50Speaker 1: or were you like immediately excited because you're like, oh
- 36:51Speaker 1: my god, I'm famous. He knows me from the podcast.
- 36:54Speaker 1: Goes right to my head. You know, I have a
- 36:56Speaker 1: huge ego. So it was it was great. No, I
- 37:00Speaker 1: loved I mean, nine of the conversations that have in
- 37:06Speaker 1: life are about sports and sports betting, so I was
- 37:08Speaker 1: I felt right at home anyway, It was just great
- 37:12Speaker 1: to meet someone also interested in the field, and uh yeah,
- 37:17Speaker 1: just get to get to know Brian better and become
- 37:20Speaker 1: become good friends. You're gonna get married, as Brian going
- 37:23Speaker 1: to be in the wedding party. He's not in the
- 37:26Speaker 1: any party, but he is going to hope. I mean
- 37:28Speaker 1: he will be invited, no way, he's got the wheel
- 37:34Speaker 1: that is Brian. Are you gonna go to the wedding? Yeah,
- 37:38Speaker 1: I would have missed it. Are you gonna write him

- 38:25Speaker 1: Sixers and Flyers to win their championships. Yeah, all right,
- 38:31Speaker 1: sounds good. Yeah, definitely definitely Eagles, the ones. I don't
