Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Woo!
- 0:01Speaker 2: Stu Gatz. Woo!
- 0:02Speaker 3: I gotta be honest with you, Bruce, there's a good
- 0:03Speaker 3: chance I'd be high anyway.
- 0:05Speaker 4: Woo!
- 0:05Speaker 2: And I'm wondering how the football weekend was. Were you
- 0:07Speaker 2: able to watch it? Wow, what happened? Oh, I'm tired
- 0:12Speaker 2: of him. I'm serious. How about that?
- 0:14Speaker 5: In company. We are mother shuckers, baby.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Woo!
- 0:17Speaker 1: Bruce, does Faison Brandon's name sound like it's on backwards?
- 0:20Speaker 2: No doubt.
- 0:21Speaker 1: It's time to get your.
- 0:23Speaker 1: It's time to get your racket to get the all boat, the,
- 0:27Speaker 1: the all boat.
- 0:28Speaker 2: You got nothing right there.
- 0:29Speaker 1: This is not going well.
- 0:31Speaker 2: This is still gots and company. Still back to you. Taylor,
- 0:36Speaker 2: put it on the pole, please. That's two gots.
- 0:37Speaker 3: Seven 90 on X or the Browns better without miles.
- 0:41Speaker 5: Garrett.
- 0:42Speaker 3: Also after four games, is Todd Munkin on the Mount
- 0:45Speaker 3: Rushmore of Cleveland Brown coaches.
- 0:49Speaker 1: It's got to be him and Stefanski.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Who else would it be?
- 0:53Speaker 1: I think Stefanski's the gold standard because Stefanski won a
- 0:56Speaker 1: playoff game there.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Right.
- 0:57Speaker 3: Well, I think Ricardo, Ricky Mantle, sitting next to me,
- 1:01Speaker 3: he thinks it's Paul Brown.
- 1:02Speaker 2: Is that what you were saying?
- 1:03Speaker 5: Paul Brown and Schottenheimer.
- 1:04Speaker 2: Okay, Paul Brown and Marty Schottenheimer, yes.
- 1:07Speaker 6: You don't think they try and claim some piece of Belichick?
- 1:11Speaker 6: You don't think they try and claim a little bit like, hey,
- 1:13Speaker 6: that was our coach, too.
- 1:14Speaker 5: The greatest of all time. He was our coach.
- 1:16Speaker 2: They had Saban as well, didn't they? I mean, was
- 1:21Speaker 2: he a coach?
- 1:21Speaker 5: Saban was like a defensive.
- 1:24Speaker 2: OK, fair.
- 1:26Speaker 3: Are you asking if Belichick is on the Mount Rushmore
- 1:30Speaker 3: of Cleveland Brown coaches?
- 1:31Speaker 2: Mikey.
- 1:32Speaker 5: Yeah, it's one of those like, don't look into it.
- 1:34Speaker 6: But Bill Belichick was the coach of the Browns and
- 1:37Speaker 6: Bill Belichick is the greatest.
- 1:38Speaker 5: Of all time. Stop. Stop. Don't Google it. Just leave
- 1:42Speaker 5: it there.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Mikey, that's like saying Bill Belichick's on the Mount Rushmore
- 1:45Speaker 1: of North Carolina coaches though.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Oh, he might be. No, he's not. Michael Jordan showed
- 1:50Speaker 2: up to a game.
- 1:51Speaker 6: I mean, listen, a hundred years from now, somebody is
- 1:54Speaker 6: going to say, oh man, Bill Belichick, one of the
- 1:56Speaker 6: greatest coaches ever.
- 1:57Speaker 5: Where did he coach? And somebody's going to go, I
- 1:59Speaker 5: know he coached in Cleveland.
- 2:01Speaker 3: I mean, name a second football coach from North Carolina,
- 2:04Speaker 3: not named Mac Brown.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Sorry about that. I lost my train of thought.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Butch Davis, North Carolina teams would run circles around Bill Belichick.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Larry Fedora coach team would run circle around Bill Belichick teams.
- 2:18Speaker 3: So he's on the Patriots about Rushmore of coaches, obviously easily.
- 2:22Speaker 3: He's easily on the NFL Mount Rushmore of coaches, but
- 2:26Speaker 3: Belichick is not on the North Carolina Mount Rushmore.
- 2:29Speaker 2: Of head football coaches.
- 2:31Speaker 1: No, I think Carl Torbush is ahead of him, too.
- 2:33Speaker 2: What an amazing career turn.
- 2:34Speaker 1: John Bunting ahead of him. Jesus.
- 2:39Speaker 2: He has fallen quickly. He just can't make that Carolina.
- 2:43Speaker 2: That's the one blemish on his resume. Well, yeah, there's
- 2:49Speaker 2: a couple. You're right, Mikey. I heard that.
- 2:52Speaker 3: That's a game normally, though, in Todd Munkin's defense, that Cleveland,
- 2:57Speaker 3: after Pittsburgh comes back, Aaron Rodgers looked good in the
- 2:59Speaker 3: second half.
- 3:00Speaker 2: He did.
- 3:00Speaker 3: He looked young, man. He was making some plays. He
- 3:03Speaker 3: ran it in for two on a QB sneak to
- 3:05Speaker 3: tie up the game. That's a game normally the Browns lose.
- 3:09Speaker 3: They ended up winning that game. They're surprisingly good.
- 3:12Speaker 5: They are.
- 3:13Speaker 2: I think the.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Takeaway for me is the Browns' young core is, is
- 3:17Speaker 1: a lot better than I think people thought they would
- 3:19Speaker 1: be going into this year, where the Denzel Boston pick
- 3:22Speaker 1: is paying immediate dividends. He has four catches, 89 yards.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Casey Concepcion, where they doubled down this draft, getting receivers,
- 3:30Speaker 1: the A & M receiver, five catches, 64 yards, and
- 3:33Speaker 1: then Quinshot Judkins looks great at the running back position,
- 3:36Speaker 1: and then Harold Fannin at the tight end position. You're
- 3:39Speaker 1: starting to see the pieces coming together for this Browns team,
- 3:42Speaker 1: because I was one of the people that immediately dismissed
- 3:44Speaker 1: this team. I thought Todd Munkin had 12-24 written all
- 3:47Speaker 1: over him for his first two years. They'd fire him
- 3:49Speaker 1: and then restart the process. Got to give credit to
- 3:52Speaker 1: Todd Munkin. This team is a lot better than I
- 3:55Speaker 1: think people thought they would be.
- 3:56Speaker 3: Yep, 3-1 for the first time since 2021. Stefanski. And
- 4:03Speaker 3: they now have won three consecutive games.
- 4:06Speaker 2: It is crazy, Mikey. Do you think the Browns are good?
- 4:08Speaker 2: They have drafted well the last two seasons. You have
- 4:10Speaker 2: to give them credit.
- 4:12Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, when you pick as high as the
- 4:14Speaker 6: Browns have for so long, you're going to get talent.
- 4:17Speaker 5: And Todd Munkin is– I've seen him.
- 4:19Speaker 6: Called Chill Parcells, which I absolutely love.
- 4:22Speaker 5: That's a great name.
- 4:23Speaker 6: Because if you– it's a fantastic name. Watch his post-game speech.
- 4:28Speaker 6: He calls over the kicker, hands him the ball, and says,
- 4:30Speaker 6: good job.
- 4:31Speaker 5: That's it. Yes. And tells him to go away. Like, perfect.
- 4:35Speaker 6: It's– they're– They're so young and talented on defense and
- 4:41Speaker 6: the pieces on offense are coming together.
- 4:43Speaker 5: What they need is a good head coach and a
- 4:45Speaker 5: good quarterback.
- 4:47Speaker 1: Stu, where I'm at with this Browns team, and I'm
- 4:48Speaker 1: going to take a page out of your playbook.
- 4:50Speaker 2: Okay.
- 4:51Speaker 1: I need to see the Browns do it on Sunday
- 4:53Speaker 1: because if Sundays were played on Thursdays.
- 4:55Speaker 2: They've done it on Sundays the last two weeks.
- 4:58Speaker 1: Yeah, but they're especially good on Thursdays where if Sundays
- 5:02Speaker 1: were played on Thursdays, the Browns would be the Chiefs.
- 5:05Speaker 1: The Browns have won eight straight games now on Thursday
- 5:08Speaker 1: night football. They look like a dynasty every time we
- 5:10Speaker 1: put them on the Thursday night football slot.
- 5:12Speaker 2: Put it on the poll.
- 5:12Speaker 3: If the Browns played all their games on Thursday night,
- 5:15Speaker 3: would they be a dynasty too?
- 5:18Speaker 5: I don't even think it's arguable.
- 5:20Speaker 1: Their last loss on Thursday night football was in 2016. Yes.
- 5:25Speaker 2: They should say before the season, we'll take all the
- 5:27Speaker 2: Thursday nights.
- 5:28Speaker 6: Yes.
- 5:29Speaker 2: And we'd be fine with that.
- 5:31Speaker 3: I'd be okay watching the Browns every Thursday night.
- 5:34Speaker 2: I mean, I don't care enough about it.
- 5:35Speaker 5: Would you?
- 5:37Speaker 2: If they were good, yes. Yeah, I would.
- 5:39Speaker 1: If they looked like Patrick Mahomes reincarnated, yeah, I think
- 5:43Speaker 1: people would sign up for that.
- 5:44Speaker 2: Mikey, do.
- 5:47Speaker 3: You want your Thursday night game to be with.
- 5:51Speaker 2: Two good teams involved? I don't. I don't want a
- 5:54Speaker 2: good game Thursday night. I don't.
- 5:57Speaker 5: That's fair.
- 5:58Speaker 6: I don't want it this week because we got Yankee
- 6:01Speaker 6: playoff games and at some point I just need to
- 6:02Speaker 6: go to bed early.
- 6:03Speaker 5: Right.
- 6:04Speaker 6: But like once we get into November where everything is
- 6:06Speaker 6: kind of slowing down, yeah, give me a good game
- 6:08Speaker 6: on Thursday night.
- 6:09Speaker 2: Okay, fair.
- 6:09Speaker 1: So, Stu, you want the Thursday night football game to
- 6:11Speaker 1: almost be like a throwaway spot.
- 6:13Speaker 4: Yes.
- 6:13Speaker 1: Like Jaguars-Titans coming up next.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Is that the next game on Thursday night?
- 6:18Speaker 1: No, but that's just historic.
- 6:19Speaker 5: Next night is worse. Next Thursday is worse.
- 6:21Speaker 2: What is it? What is next Thursday?
- 6:24Speaker 5: Bucks, Cowboys.
- 6:25Speaker 2: That's what I'm talking about. Give me something like that.
- 6:27Speaker 7: Yes.
- 6:28Speaker 2: Just slop. No, you flex a bad game into Thursday night.
- 6:31Speaker 2: As the season goes on. I don't know. I just
- 6:34Speaker 2: feel like the good game should be reserved for Sundays
- 6:36Speaker 2: and Monday. You know? Just make... I don't know what
- 6:40Speaker 2: I'm doing. I mean, I'm not ready for football by Thursday.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Can I tell you my problem when I'm watching this
- 6:45Speaker 1: game yesterday? Because I'm watching this game conflicted where... I'm
- 6:48Speaker 1: just thinking to myself, how unlikable does somebody have to
- 6:51Speaker 1: be for Aaron Rodgers to be the one that you
- 6:53Speaker 1: root for? This Browns team.
- 6:56Speaker 2: It has to be Deshaun Watson.
- 6:57Speaker 1: It's only Deshaun Watson. This Browns team would be so
- 7:01Speaker 1: fun to root for if it wasn't for Deshaun Watson.
- 7:05Speaker 1: And when you're watching Amazon Prime's coverage of the game yesterday, yes,
- 7:09Speaker 1: the Browns are a great story. Yes, they're overachieving for sure.
- 7:12Speaker 1: I'm not really here for the Deshaun Watson redemption storyline
- 7:15Speaker 1: angle that I felt like Amazon Prime was pushing last
- 7:18Speaker 1: night where you have the nauseating interview with Taylor Rooks
- 7:22Speaker 1: before the game. Tony Gonzalez is talking about Deshaun Watson
- 7:25Speaker 1: after the game where he says, The stuff he's gone through,
- 7:27Speaker 1: got to tip your cap to him. I'm so proud
- 7:30Speaker 1: and happy for him.
- 7:31Speaker 2: He hasn't gone through anything. What is he talking about?
- 7:33Speaker 1: Tony Gonzalez was saying that he faced adversity off the
- 7:36Speaker 1: field where it's like we're kind of rewriting the story
- 7:38Speaker 1: for Deshaun Watson to push a feel-good narrative all.
- 7:42Speaker 2: Of a sudden.
- 7:42Speaker 3: Anything Deshaun Watson is going through or has gone through
- 7:46Speaker 3: is self-inflicted. He hasn't gone through anything, okay? Those women
- 7:49Speaker 3: went through something terribly bad. I don't want to hear
- 7:52Speaker 3: about it.
- 7:53Speaker 2: I understand.
- 7:54Speaker 3: And listen, I've been saying I understand why Browns fans
- 7:56Speaker 3: are conflicted.
- 7:57Speaker 2: They don't know whether or not they should root for
- 7:59Speaker 2: this team. In fact, Taylor put it on the poll.
- 8:02Speaker 3: Are the Browns a quarterback away from you rooting for
- 8:06Speaker 3: the Cleveland Browns? Because I think you're right about this.
- 8:08Speaker 3: I think the country would get behind it. They just
- 8:10Speaker 3: hate the quarterback for good reason.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Yes.
- 8:13Speaker 6: Is there another fan base as starved as the Browns
- 8:16Speaker 6: that would convince themselves to root for this guy? I
- 8:20Speaker 6: don't think there is. I don't think the Jets would.
- 8:22Speaker 2: You know what? It's funny.
- 8:23Speaker 3: I was having this conversation with Abby last night. If
- 8:26Speaker 3: Deshaun Watson was the Jets quarterback, they got off to
- 8:30Speaker 3: a 3-1 start and he was playing.
- 8:31Speaker 2: Better, would I be okay with it? Would I be happy?
- 8:35Speaker 3: And I didn't have a good answer for her because
- 8:37Speaker 3: as a Jet fan, yes, I'd be happy with a
- 8:39Speaker 3: 3-1 start.
- 8:39Speaker 2: I just don't like the guy who is.
- 8:41Speaker 3: The main focus of my team and has the ball
- 8:44Speaker 3: on every offensive play. I don't know how Browns fans...
- 8:48Speaker 3: should react and should.
- 8:49Speaker 2: Respond to this. I truly don't.
- 8:51Speaker 1: Yeah, because it's really easy to take a moral stand
- 8:53Speaker 1: when the player isn't helping you win, where Browns fans
- 8:56Speaker 1: spent the entire offseason wanting absolutely nothing to do with
- 9:00Speaker 1: Deshaun Watson. And now they're 3-1. He's playing better. And
- 9:04Speaker 1: suddenly they're singing a different tune. I think it is
- 9:07Speaker 1: fair for the nation to look at Browns fans and
- 9:09Speaker 1: be like, hey, keep that same energy that you had
- 9:12Speaker 1: with Deshaun Watson when you were 0-0 as you are
- 9:14Speaker 1: when you're 3-1 now.
- 9:16Speaker 2: Right. Or if you lose a couple of games, right?
- 9:19Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 9:19Speaker 2: Because they're going to turn on him if they do.
- 9:21Speaker 1: Oh, the second they go on a losing streak, they're
- 9:23Speaker 1: going to turn on him. I guess my bigger issue
- 9:26Speaker 1: is just with the prime coverage where I think you
- 9:29Speaker 1: could cover Deshaun Watson without selling Deshaun Watson. And it
- 9:32Speaker 1: felt like prime was... presenting him like we were watching
- 9:35Speaker 1: some inspirational story.
- 9:38Speaker 3: There is no inspirational story in Cleveland other than the
- 9:41Speaker 3: team that is normally bad is off to a 3-1 start,
- 9:43Speaker 3: and they're 3-1 for the first time, as I mentioned,
- 9:46Speaker 3: since 2021. The quarterback is not inspirational. The quarterback drives
- 9:50Speaker 3: you crazy.
- 9:51Speaker 2: Simply, he does. He confuses you and drives you crazy.
- 9:54Speaker 3: He is not an inspiration by any stretch, and he'll
- 9:57Speaker 3: never be an inspiration to anybody, any show. be an
- 10:00Speaker 3: inspiration to Cleveland fans. If Cleveland fans want to root
- 10:04Speaker 3: for the jerseys, root for the team, root for the Browns,
- 10:06Speaker 3: I'm okay with it. There is a fine line between
- 10:09Speaker 3: rooting for the Browns and rooting for Deshaun Watson. Now
- 10:11Speaker 3: they are forced to root for Deshaun Watson right now
- 10:14Speaker 3: because he's playing quarterback. So when you see them cheering
- 10:17Speaker 3: and he makes a good play, what are they supposed
- 10:19Speaker 3: to do?
- 10:21Speaker 5: Right?
- 10:21Speaker 6: You have to root for the football player, not the person.
- 10:24Speaker 3: You're rooting for the football. You're rooting for the jersey. Mikey,
- 10:27Speaker 3: but fans have rooted for bad dudes. This is a
- 10:29Speaker 3: really bad guy.
- 10:30Speaker 5: I agree.
- 10:31Speaker 3: But fans have rooted for bad dudes. Some they know
- 10:33Speaker 3: about and some they have no idea. Like, Giant fans
- 10:36Speaker 3: were rooting for Lawrence Taylor and still give him standing
- 10:38Speaker 3: ovations every time he walks into a room.
- 10:40Speaker 2: Not a good dude.
- 10:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I think the onus is more on the NFL
- 10:44Speaker 1: in this situation of even allowing Deshaun Watson back into
- 10:48Speaker 1: the league after you suspend him and you fine him.
- 10:50Speaker 1: And you're putting Browns fans in this situation right now
- 10:53Speaker 1: where they have to choose between their team or having morals,
- 10:57Speaker 1: I guess, for your football team. That's why, like, Stu,
- 11:02Speaker 1: you mentioned.
- 11:03Speaker 5: Yes.
- 11:03Speaker 1: I don't know what I would do as a Browns
- 11:05Speaker 1: fan because, luckily, I'm not in this situation where I
- 11:08Speaker 1: have to decide between morals or my football team.
- 11:10Speaker 3: I mean, this is not the way I would want
- 11:12Speaker 3: the Jets to be 3-1 with him at quarterback. It's
- 11:15Speaker 3: not to say I wouldn't root for the Jets if
- 11:17Speaker 3: he were playing quarterback. I would be rooting for the Jets.
- 11:19Speaker 3: I'm always going to be rooting for the Jets. I
- 11:21Speaker 3: don't have to root for the individual player.
- 11:23Speaker 2: I don't.
- 11:24Speaker 3: But the individual player is part of the reason that
- 11:26Speaker 3: team's having success. I mean, and if you're going to
- 11:29Speaker 3: give them credit, that's the only bit of credit you
- 11:31Speaker 3: can give them. That after all this, he has figured
- 11:34Speaker 3: out a way to play decent.
- 11:35Speaker 2: On the football field. I don't know. If you're going
- 11:37Speaker 2: to give him any credit, I'm not giving him any.
- 11:39Speaker 1: Yeah, it does seem like he's redeeming himself on the
- 11:42Speaker 1: football field and looking like a quarterback. Now, he's probably
- 11:46Speaker 1: still a shell of the quarterback that he was in Houston.
- 11:48Speaker 2: He's competent.
- 11:49Speaker 1: He's a competent quarterback. And when you're watching that game yesterday, Mikey,
- 11:53Speaker 1: I'm watching the Steelers secondary. They just traded Joey Porter Jr.
- 11:58Speaker 1: I think that trade, I think it's already fair to
- 12:00Speaker 1: say that trade is a massive mistake because the Steelers'
- 12:02Speaker 1: secondary looks terrible, where the Browns are trying to get
- 12:07Speaker 1: into field goal range, and it's like, man, I wonder
- 12:09Speaker 1: what the Browns are going to do. Oh, they're only
- 12:12Speaker 1: throwing quick slants right now to Denzel Boston and Casey Concepcion,
- 12:16Speaker 1: and the Steelers' secondary every time was like, oh, we
- 12:19Speaker 1: have no idea what to do to stop this.
- 12:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:26Speaker 6: Stu started this episode by saying how good Aaron Rodgers
- 12:31Speaker 6: looked in the second half.
- 12:32Speaker 2: He did.
- 12:32Speaker 6: And I would argue I was sad watching that man
- 12:35Speaker 6: try and play football.
- 12:36Speaker 2: Really?
- 12:37Speaker 6: Other than the fourth quarter drive where he tied the game,
- 12:41Speaker 6: it was hard to watch.
- 12:43Speaker 5: He could not– he was screaming at everybody. He could
- 12:46Speaker 5: not complete a pass.
- 12:47Speaker 6: He was getting hit and– I guess I have this
- 12:51Speaker 6: question for you guys. If you're Aaron Rodgers and a
- 12:55Speaker 6: genie comes to you and says, I can take you
- 12:58Speaker 6: back in time to your last day in Green Bay
- 13:01Speaker 6: and you can make a different decision to just retire then,
- 13:04Speaker 6: do you think he'd do it? Do you think he
- 13:06Speaker 6: would say, we're just going to eliminate your two years
- 13:08Speaker 6: with the Jets and eliminate your two years with the
- 13:10Speaker 6: Pittsburgh Steelers and you could go off into the sunset
- 13:13Speaker 6: as a Green Bay Packers hero?
- 13:15Speaker 5: Do you think he would do it? Why?
- 13:16Speaker 3: Do you think he's staining his legacy the last few stops?
- 13:20Speaker 5: Oh, it's absolutely stained.
- 13:22Speaker 6: The only Aaron Rodgers we get to talk about now
- 13:25Speaker 6: is the mediocre to bad football player and the curmudgeon.
- 13:29Speaker 4: Right.
- 13:29Speaker 6: At least when he was with Green Bay, there were...
- 13:32Speaker 6: He was in talks as GOAT. There were people that
- 13:35Speaker 6: were like, if you tell me, people who think they
- 13:38Speaker 6: know quarterbacks, if you tell me who is the best
- 13:41Speaker 6: pure quarterback in the game, I'm going with Aaron Rodgers.
- 13:44Speaker 2: In his prime, yes, yes.
- 13:46Speaker 6: In his prime. He could run. He could pass. He
- 13:49Speaker 6: could do all these things. Now he's just sad. It's
- 13:53Speaker 6: sad to watch him try and play football. Every time
- 13:56Speaker 6: he gets hit, I'm like, that's going to be the one.
- 13:58Speaker 6: That's going to be the one that makes him just
- 14:00Speaker 6: limp off.
- 14:01Speaker 3: He's still a four-time MVP. Not since Green Bay. Not
- 14:06Speaker 3: since Green Bay.
- 14:07Speaker 2: I understand that. I do. I get that.
- 14:09Speaker 3: He was 22 of 40 for 299, three touchdowns, two interceptions.
- 14:13Speaker 2: Taylor, put it on the ball.
- 14:14Speaker 3: Does watching Aaron Rodgers play quarterback at this stage make
- 14:17Speaker 3: you sad?
- 14:17Speaker 1: I'm kind of with Mikey that I think if you
- 14:20Speaker 1: gave Aaron Rodgers a do-over, he would erase the last, like,
- 14:23Speaker 1: four years of his career.
- 14:25Speaker 6: Yes.
- 14:26Speaker 1: But my problem is, like, Pittsburgh knew exactly what Aaron
- 14:30Speaker 1: Rodgers was when they brought him in.
- 14:32Speaker 2: From the Jets. From the Jets. Yes.
- 14:34Speaker 1: This team.
- 14:35Speaker 2: The Jets had no idea. I don't blame the Jets.
- 14:38Speaker 2: Pittsburgh maybe.
- 14:39Speaker 1: This team isn't constructed for him to throw it 40
- 14:43Speaker 1: times every week. Like, Stugatz read his stat line. 22
- 14:46Speaker 1: of 40, two interceptions. Jalen Warren was averaging.
- 14:51Speaker 2: You left out the three TDs.
- 14:52Speaker 5: The three TDs, yes.
- 14:53Speaker 1: And he looked good on the last drive.
- 14:54Speaker 2: He really did.
- 14:55Speaker 5: The last drive. The last drive was vintage.
- 14:59Speaker 2: He turned back the clock for a drive.
- 15:02Speaker 1: Yeah, when he snuck it in, all of a sudden
- 15:03Speaker 1: he looked a lot more nimble. Like he was saving
- 15:05Speaker 1: everything in the tank. Like if that game had to
- 15:07Speaker 1: go to overtime, Mikey, I don't know if Aaron Rodgers
- 15:09Speaker 1: had anything left there.
- 15:11Speaker 6: No.
- 15:12Speaker 3: He was happy the kick went through he took a
- 15:15Speaker 3: deep breath when he said.
- 15:17Speaker 5: Oh thank god oh i'm done.
- 15:19Speaker 1: That's why that last play was like they had what
- 15:22Speaker 1: 10 seconds to try to get it like 15 20
- 15:24Speaker 1: yards into field goal range and aaron rogers like let
- 15:26Speaker 1: me just throw like a half-assed hail mary here.
- 15:29Speaker 2: I'm at a gas yeah but jaylen.
- 15:31Speaker 1: Warren averages like five and a half yards per carry
- 15:35Speaker 1: And it felt like they abandoned the run to be like,
- 15:37Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers, go win this game for us in the
- 15:39Speaker 1: second half. Now, Aaron Rodgers ultimately did get there. But
- 15:42Speaker 1: I don't think if you're the Steelers, it's a sustainable
- 15:45Speaker 1: formula asking Aaron Rodgers to throw the ball 40 times
- 15:48Speaker 1: a week. Like, this is not Packers-Aaron Rodgers anymore.
- 15:52Speaker 3: No, it's not a sustainable formula. But he had to
- 15:54Speaker 3: last night. They were down big, and he was trying
- 15:57Speaker 3: to get them back into the football game. I mean,
- 15:59Speaker 3: so you throw the ball, and at times... At times
- 16:02Speaker 3: you see it, and that drives certainly in the fourth quarter,
- 16:05Speaker 3: you see the old Aaron Rodgers.
- 16:06Speaker 2: You just don't see it consistently anymore. That's the difference.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Yeah, and when you combine this performance from Aaron Rodgers
- 16:12Speaker 1: and the Bengals' performance from Aaron Rodgers, again, I think
- 16:15Speaker 1: the Steelers know what they have in their quarterback position
- 16:17Speaker 1: right now. Somebody who is going to have flashes, but
- 16:20Speaker 1: also have moments where he does look like his age
- 16:23Speaker 1: out there. That's why I think if you're the Steelers today,
- 16:26Speaker 1: the more worrying concern is their defense, where they've now
- 16:29Speaker 1: allowed 27 points in consecutive games and Cleveland puts up
- 16:33Speaker 1: 372 yards and six yards per play, where Deshaun Watson
- 16:37Speaker 1: looked like, after that first drive where the Browns go
- 16:40Speaker 1: three and out, it felt like the Browns figured something
- 16:43Speaker 1: out with that Steelers defense.
- 16:45Speaker 2: Yes.
- 16:46Speaker 3: Mikey, how do you feel about Aaron Rodgers? Would you
- 16:53Speaker 3: take him as your quarterback right now over Geno Smith,
- 16:55Speaker 3: I guess is what I'm asking.
- 16:56Speaker 2: No.
- 16:57Speaker 6: Really?
- 16:57Speaker 4: No.
- 16:59Speaker 5: No, I would not.
- 17:00Speaker 2: What?
- 17:00Speaker 1: Gino looks good.
- 17:01Speaker 5: No, I would not.
- 17:02Speaker 2: But Aaron looked good.
- 17:03Speaker 5: Aaron did not.
- 17:05Speaker 6: Aaron was 22 of 40.
- 17:08Speaker 5: That's like 54%.
- 17:09Speaker 2: Right, but what is he supposed to do?
- 17:12Speaker 3: You're asking the question, if Aaron could go back and
- 17:14Speaker 3: do it again, would he just quit? How about this?
- 17:17Speaker 3: I still think people view him as an all-time great.
- 17:20Speaker 3: He's an all-time great quarterback and an all-time great knucklehead.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Is that fair?
- 17:24Speaker 6: I think if you gave Aaron Rodgers the choice after
- 17:28Speaker 6: he ran out onto the field as a jet with
- 17:30Speaker 6: the American.
- 17:31Speaker 2: Flag and tore his.
- 17:33Speaker 6: Achilles and said, Aaron, we could call this a career-ending injury,
- 17:38Speaker 6: where the last time you took the field was to
- 17:41Speaker 6: raucous applause and all the hope and, oh, man, you
- 17:44Speaker 6: just got hurt.
- 17:46Speaker 5: I think Aaron goes, yeah, I'll go out like that.
- 17:48Speaker 1: That's the biggest thing now that I'm thinking about it, Mikey,
- 17:50Speaker 1: because I don't think Aaron Rodgers could retire– after the
- 17:53Speaker 1: Packers because there's some lingering questions of does he still
- 17:58Speaker 1: have it? He needs that American flag moment.
- 18:00Speaker 5: He needs that American flag moment.
- 18:02Speaker 2: It's the only moment he's had.
- 18:03Speaker 5: Give me that day and then that's it. That moment
- 18:05Speaker 5: was awesome.
- 18:06Speaker 2: It was 9-11, man. He led the Jets out with
- 18:08Speaker 2: the American flag.
- 18:09Speaker 1: But the Geno Smith argument. I think you guys underrate
- 18:14Speaker 1: how competent of a quarterback Geno Smith has looked this year.
- 18:17Speaker 2: No, I know.
- 18:18Speaker 5: When the Lions went up 20... Not me.
- 18:20Speaker 2: I'm not underrating it. I'm just asking. He's been fine.
- 18:23Speaker 2: We're still 1-2. He's been fine. I'm just asking, would
- 18:25Speaker 2: you rather have Aaron Rodgers?
- 18:27Speaker 1: The most shocked I was in Week 3 was when
- 18:30Speaker 1: the Lions went up 24-10 because every game I've watched
- 18:33Speaker 1: in the Jets, that 24-10 ends.
- 18:36Speaker 1: 52-10 with the Lions winning.
- 18:40Speaker 2: 52-13.
- 18:40Speaker 5: They get a field goal.
- 18:41Speaker 2: Of course we do.
- 18:42Speaker 1: A sad field goal.
- 18:43Speaker 2: Unnecessary.
- 18:45Speaker 1: The fact that Geno Smith was able to get the
- 18:47Speaker 1: Jets back to 24-24 was about as stunned as I'll
- 18:51Speaker 1: be this NFL season.
- 18:53Speaker 3: It is funny. Abby turned to me. Abby was into
- 18:55Speaker 3: the game last night. She did turn to me, and
- 18:57Speaker 3: she said, when they go to Aaron on television, why
- 19:00Speaker 3: is he always miserable? He's got the world by the you-know-what.
- 19:04Speaker 3: Why does he look so miserable all the time?
- 19:06Speaker 2: And I'm like... I don't view it like that. I
- 19:09Speaker 2: don't think he's miserable. It was when he was yelling
- 19:11Speaker 2: at Mike McCarthy. Yeah. Mike McCarthy has such a play, man.
- 19:16Speaker 1: Mike McCarthy has such a yellable face, though.
- 19:19Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 19:20Speaker 2: Put it on the poll.
- 19:21Speaker 5: Put it on the poll. Absolutely.
- 19:23Speaker 6: Aaron Rodgers is mad because Aaron Rodgers still thinks he
- 19:27Speaker 6: can play football like Green Bay Packers Aaron Rodgers, and
- 19:30Speaker 6: he can't. He makes those throws when he's in Green Bay.
- 19:34Speaker 5: Listen, I get it.
- 19:35Speaker 6: That's why I'm asking if you could take him back
- 19:38Speaker 6: and say, We could just erase that.
- 19:40Speaker 5: This is how you leave the NFL. I think he'd
- 19:42Speaker 5: take it.
- 19:43Speaker 3: The Cleveland story would be so much better if Aaron
- 19:45Speaker 3: was playing quarterback than Deshaun Watson.
- 19:47Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 19:48Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
- 19:48Speaker 5: Joe Flacco.
- 19:50Speaker 4: Wow.
- 19:51Speaker 2: Anyone. Shador.
- 19:52Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 19:53Speaker 2: Literally any other quarterback. Yeah, but Shador, they're not 3-1.
- 19:55Speaker 1: Case Keenum.
- 19:56Speaker 2: I know, but think how bad. Think how bad. Maybe
- 19:59Speaker 2: they'll train for him.
- 20:00Speaker 3: Think how bad Shador must be if the Browns are
- 20:03Speaker 3: moving forward here with Deshaun Watson.
- 20:04Speaker 2: If Munkin thought he'd be 3-1 with Shador, Shador would
- 20:07Speaker 2: be playing quarterback.

- 21:44Speaker 1: Stu, can I tell you how I watched yesterday's game?
- 21:47Speaker 1: When I said, all right, I've had enough with the
- 21:49Speaker 1: prime broadcast at this point. I have Phillies Braves on
- 21:54Speaker 1: TV one. I have Brown Steelers on TV two.
- 21:57Speaker 7: Yep.
- 21:57Speaker 1: I'm sitting on the couch. I say, headphones on. W-E-E-I.
- 22:02Speaker 2: Ah, yes.
- 22:03Speaker 1: Red Sox podcast on. Yesterday, Mikey, I was consuming as
- 22:08Speaker 1: much Boston content as I could. I needed the tears.
- 22:11Speaker 1: I needed to hear from Sully and Swamp Scott. I
- 22:14Speaker 1: needed to hear the defeat in their voices after the
- 22:17Speaker 1: Yankees massacred them. So, Stu, we have two sounds. The
- 22:20Speaker 1: first sound is from the Section 10 podcast. It's a
- 22:23Speaker 1: massive podcast. Red Sox podcast, and I just want you
- 22:26Speaker 1: to hear the defeat in their voices.
- 22:28Speaker 2: Okay, great.
- 22:28Speaker 8: I would much rather have not made the playoffs than
- 22:31Speaker 8: lost to the Yankees, and I know people got yelled
- 22:33Speaker 8: at me for that last year, but I really don't
- 22:35Speaker 8: like losing to the Yankees. It bothers me tremendously. Is
- 22:40Speaker 8: it better from a show standpoint? I suppose. But I
- 22:45Speaker 8: really don't like how I feel right now. I don't
- 22:47Speaker 8: like how I felt last year at this point in time.
- 22:50Speaker 8: I'm 37. We went 20 years, not losing a series
- 22:55Speaker 8: to the Yankees in the playoffs. They've been back to
- 22:57Speaker 8: back years, back to back years.
- 23:00Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 23:01Speaker 4: It's going to be now three and four series record
- 23:03Speaker 4: all time in the playoffs against the Yankees.
- 23:05Speaker 1: They'd be, I think it's 14 and 17 in games now.
- 23:09Speaker 2: So yeah, it's not ideal.
- 23:11Speaker 8: No, I don't like any of that. Like they already
- 23:14Speaker 8: have the ring count over.
- 23:15Speaker 2: Us, 13 and 16 forever. Like I, yeah, the, It's
- 23:20Speaker 2: not like, oh, we got the series over here.
- 23:21Speaker 8: But it was like, yeah, they knew come October, like,
- 23:24Speaker 8: we can't beat these guys. And now they don't think
- 23:27Speaker 8: that way. And they shouldn't. But I kind of do
- 23:31Speaker 8: think something crazy does need to happen. I do think
- 23:35Speaker 8: they're a little further away than we're giving them credit for.
- 23:37Speaker 8: They just lost 18-2. Like, they're pretty far away. Like,
- 23:41Speaker 8: we built an AL Central team, and the Yankees love
- 23:44Speaker 8: playing AL Central teams in September and October.
- 23:47Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 23:48Speaker 2: Oh man.
- 23:51Speaker 3: I love a miserable guy who lives in that miserable city.
- 23:55Speaker 2: Taylor, put it on the poll. Is anyone in Boston happy?
- 23:57Speaker 2: Go ahead, Mike.
- 23:58Speaker 6: Two things that I got from that one, you know,
- 24:02Speaker 6: it's really bad when you choose not to have content in.
- 24:06Speaker 5: This business for you to choose.
- 24:08Speaker 6: I don't want the content because I don't want to
- 24:11Speaker 6: lose to that team.
- 24:12Speaker 2: Right.
- 24:12Speaker 5: That hurts.
- 24:14Speaker 6: And second, We talked on Think About It Thursday. Would
- 24:18Speaker 6: you let your rival win the next four championships to
- 24:21Speaker 6: get one? I think we know how those guys would vote.
- 24:24Speaker 5: Yes.
- 24:24Speaker 6: They would absolutely not let the Yankees win four for
- 24:27Speaker 6: them to get one.
- 24:28Speaker 3: Your first point is a great one, and allow me
- 24:31Speaker 3: to remove any doubt for that guy. The Red Sox
- 24:33Speaker 3: making the playoffs and playing the Yankees is good for
- 24:36Speaker 3: your show, okay?
- 24:37Speaker 2: Period.
- 24:38Speaker 5: Great for your show.
- 24:38Speaker 2: End of discussion.
- 24:39Speaker 3: Now, he might think, okay, he might think in his
- 24:43Speaker 3: warped world up in Boston that not making the playoffs
- 24:47Speaker 3: and him ripping the Red Sox is what people want
- 24:49Speaker 3: to hear.
- 24:50Speaker 2: They don't. They want their team in the playoffs.
- 24:53Speaker 1: It's great for a show because all of a sudden
- 24:55Speaker 1: he gets a lot of downloads from New York City,
- 24:57Speaker 1: the New York City metro region where it's like, inject
- 25:00Speaker 1: this content into my veins.
- 25:02Speaker 2: Yes.
- 25:02Speaker 5: Into my veins.
- 25:03Speaker 1: So, Stu, I think we have one that's going to
- 25:05Speaker 1: one-up that sound.
- 25:06Speaker 2: Hogdale? No, not Hogdale. I love Hogdale. What happened to Hogdale?
- 25:12Speaker 1: So he was traveling this week.
- 25:15Speaker 2: Odd week, yes.
- 25:16Speaker 1: They sent him to New York to go to the
- 25:18Speaker 1: games and call the games from their streams.
- 25:20Speaker 2: I love it.
- 25:21Speaker 1: But this is a caller who could rival Hogdale. This
- 25:24Speaker 1: is on the Rich and Ken show with Ted Johnson.
- 25:27Speaker 2: Let's go to John on line one. John, what's going on, buddy?
- 25:31Speaker 4: You want to know why Eric Miller was put in
- 25:32Speaker 4: those games in both spots in the same game? I'll
- 25:36Speaker 4: tell you why, Ted.
- 25:37Speaker 5: Very simple.
- 25:38Speaker 2: Spite.
- 25:39Speaker 4: It's not scripted.
- 25:40Speaker 5: It's spite.
- 25:41Speaker 4: They traded Mayer for Miller, and they wanted to prove
- 25:45Speaker 4: to everybody that we are right.
- 25:48Speaker 5: And they weren't.
- 25:49Speaker 4: Both times, it bit them right in the ass.
- 25:51Speaker 7: And as far as I'm concerned, you can.
- 25:53Speaker 4: Trade his pal Anthony out there for the best right-handed
- 25:56Speaker 4: bat you can get, and they can slay all.
- 25:58Speaker 7: The California girls.
- 26:00Speaker 4: Because I am done with Roman Anthony. Sell now, sell low,
- 26:04Speaker 4: sell whatever you can. Because to me, he is unfortunately
- 26:07Speaker 4: a today's athlete, which means he doesn't care. And quite frankly,
- 26:12Speaker 4: he has no reason to care. Because he's got $ 150
- 26:14Speaker 4: million in the bank that makes him... Not have to
- 26:17Speaker 4: care as much. What does he have to strive for?
- 26:20Speaker 4: He doesn't have the pride, at least I don't see it,
- 26:22Speaker 4: because he's a 20-year-old, 22-year-old kid that's gotten everything. And
- 26:26Speaker 4: for Wilson Contreras, let me tell you one thing, my friend.
- 26:30Speaker 4: If I'm Cam Schlintler next year and.
- 26:32Speaker 7: You're coming up to the plate.
- 26:34Speaker 4: I'm going to put 102 somewhere between your ribcage and
- 26:38Speaker 4: your neck. He looked like.
- 26:39Speaker 7: Reggie effing Jackson running around in a 77 World Series
- 26:44Speaker 7: after the third home run. It was their first run
- 26:47Speaker 7: in three postseason games. Run around the bases, you asshat,
- 26:52Speaker 7: and get your glove. Because the way you played that
- 26:55Speaker 7: third strike, you looked like a Little League player. You
- 26:58Speaker 7: sucked the whole series.
- 27:01Speaker 2: It's special. What a call. Oh, I'm so envious.
- 27:06Speaker 5: Where are they? Where are those people?
- 27:08Speaker 2: They're all in Boston. I'm so envious of that. You asshat!
- 27:13Speaker 2: Was that Ted Johnson, the former Patriots linebacker?
- 27:16Speaker 1: Yeah, he must have a job there.
- 27:17Speaker 2: Yeah, but he gets the win. Who are the other
- 27:19Speaker 2: two guys? I mean, Teddy Johnson played sports.
- 27:22Speaker 1: Rich and Ken show.
- 27:23Speaker 2: Who are Rich and who's Ken? To be fair, Rich.
- 27:26Speaker 1: And Ken just have their first name. Ted Johnson has
- 27:29Speaker 1: the name on the show.
- 27:30Speaker 2: Because he's Ted Bleepin' Johnson.
- 27:33Speaker 6: I was always under the impression you saved the with
- 27:35Speaker 6: for the best person on the show.
- 27:36Speaker 2: Oh, you're right. You're the part of the company. With company.
- 27:45Speaker 2: Stugatz and company, I guess. How about the end? Is
- 27:48Speaker 2: the end?
- 27:49Speaker 3: I mean, should I put Stugatz with company so you
- 27:52Speaker 3: feel better and you guys are the best part of
- 27:53Speaker 3: the show?
- 27:54Speaker 5: See, you totally missed it because I was talking about
- 27:56Speaker 5: a former show.
- 27:58Speaker 2: No, I didn't want to give myself credit. But I
- 28:01Speaker 2: was the best part of the show.
