- 0:00Speaker 1: Come on, Steve.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Come on.
- 0:03Speaker 1: Do your thing, Big Daddy. Uh-huh.
- 0:06Speaker 2: I sure will. Good morning, everybody. You are listening to
- 0:09Speaker 2: The Voice. Come on, dig me now. One and only,
- 0:13Speaker 2: Steve Harvey. Got a radio show. Man, oh, man, oh, man.
- 0:19Speaker 1: Wow.
- 0:20Speaker 2: I think about all the things God has done for me.
- 0:23Speaker 2: It's overwhelming at times. And I want everybody to have
- 0:27Speaker 2: that feeling and to share in that. feeling of completion
- 0:31Speaker 2: and satisfaction. And the only reason I got this and
- 0:34Speaker 2: it's the thousandth time I've said it is because I
- 0:38Speaker 2: formed a relationship with my.
- 0:39Speaker 1: Creator, period. That's it. That's it. I can't tell you
- 0:44Speaker 1: anything else.
- 0:45Speaker 2: You know, I've always had a strong work ethic. My
- 0:48Speaker 2: father put that in me. My father's conversation with me
- 0:52Speaker 2: growing up was always constantly about work hard, don't be lazy,
- 0:56Speaker 2: be a man, do what you say you're going to do, yada, yada, yada, yada, yada. Man,
- 1:01Speaker 2: I was so tired of my father at times. I
- 1:02Speaker 2: was going, man, what is with this dude right here? Man,
- 1:06Speaker 2: every time we have a conversation, it's got to be
- 1:08Speaker 2: about work. It's got to be about, you know, man,
- 1:12Speaker 2: doing your best, trying hard, you know, working, being honest,
- 1:16Speaker 2: do what you say you're going to do. But that
- 1:18Speaker 2: was his mission. I can't tell you how much I
- 1:22Speaker 2: appreciate that now. I can't even put it into words
- 1:26Speaker 2: when I think about my old man and what he
- 1:30Speaker 2: was to me. And I just, man, I'm so grateful
- 1:35Speaker 2: for that balance I had in my life. And then
- 1:37Speaker 2: my father was a fighter. He fought on the weekends.
- 1:42Speaker 2: You know, my father used to come home with his
- 1:46Speaker 2: clothes tore off of him. He put a fresh shirt
- 1:49Speaker 2: on and he'd go back. My mom used to talk
- 1:51Speaker 2: about my father fighting all the time. Slick, why are
- 1:53Speaker 2: you always fighting? You know, a little bit of that
- 1:57Speaker 2: rubbed off on me, too. You know, that kind of
- 1:59Speaker 2: got into me, and I didn't understand that either. But
- 2:02Speaker 2: then on the same turn, my mother was a Sunday
- 2:05Speaker 2: school teacher for 40 years, so her conversation was never
- 2:08Speaker 2: about fighting or anything. It was all about love and
- 2:11Speaker 2: understanding and doing unto others as you would have them
- 2:14Speaker 2: do unto you. My mom was a Sunday school teacher,
- 2:16Speaker 2: so I I learned about faith. I had to go
- 2:18Speaker 2: to Sunday school, prayer meeting, Bible study, young people meeting,
- 2:22Speaker 2: choir rehearsal. You know, I was a church man so
- 2:25Speaker 2: much I was actually looking at there's got to be
- 2:28Speaker 2: an alternative to this. You know, I was a little
- 2:32Speaker 2: kid even. I was thinking at one point maybe I
- 2:34Speaker 2: ought to look in hell because there's got to be
- 2:36Speaker 2: something cooler than this going on every day. It got
- 2:40Speaker 2: that crazy for me. But the balance between those two
- 2:43Speaker 2: people created who I am today. And I want you
- 2:47Speaker 2: to understand that the things that you are in your
- 2:50Speaker 2: past have helped create who you are today if you
- 2:54Speaker 2: view it the right way. Everything that has happened to
- 2:58Speaker 2: you in your past has happened to you for a
- 3:01Speaker 2: reason and is usually for the good if you view
- 3:06Speaker 2: it that way. But if you, on the other hand,
- 3:10Speaker 2: are a type of person who can't move forward, because
- 3:14Speaker 2: you are allowing your past to stop you from having
- 3:17Speaker 2: your future, then you, my friend, are doing a disservice
- 3:22Speaker 2: to your life.
- 3:24Speaker 1: You are not honoring God's blessings.
- 3:27Speaker 2: You are not taking advantage of the gain, knowledge, wisdom,
- 3:32Speaker 2: and experience of your life. Example, if you are a
- 3:38Speaker 2: woman and you are always talking, about a former relationship,
- 3:45Speaker 2: what he did to me. If he had not did
- 3:48Speaker 2: this to me, I wouldn't be in this place today.
- 3:53Speaker 2: I thought I had a man. Now I ain't got
- 3:56Speaker 2: no man. Ah, la, la, la, la, la. If I,
- 4:01Speaker 2: you know, he came along and I was doing just swell.
- 4:05Speaker 2: He just came in and he just lied to me.
- 4:08Speaker 2: He lied to me. Now he did this to me.
- 4:11Speaker 2: Then he cheated. Then he left. All of that that
- 4:15Speaker 2: you're saying can very well be true. Have you thought
- 4:21Speaker 2: that maybe, maybe somewhere in God's infinite wisdom that he
- 4:29Speaker 2: knew that you had made a mistake in picking him anyway?
- 4:35Speaker 2: Maybe he knew you had made a mistake in saying
- 4:38Speaker 2: yes or I do to him anyway, or come on,
- 4:42Speaker 2: move in. And so what he did was based on
- 4:49Speaker 2: your decision now to say, yes, I do. Or come on,
- 4:53Speaker 2: let's move in together. That was your decision. So you
- 4:55Speaker 2: ain't go to him about this one. You made this
- 4:58Speaker 2: decision based on that decision and all the negative things
- 5:03Speaker 2: that started happening.
- 5:05Speaker 1: He allowed you to get away from it.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Now, how you got away from it is always not
- 5:11Speaker 2: the choice of ours. See, you stuck on the fact
- 5:15Speaker 2: that he left, that he walked out. But let me
- 5:18Speaker 2: share this with you. When he was there, how good
- 5:21Speaker 2: was he to you? How good was he for you? See,
- 5:25Speaker 2: you got to look at the blessing. The blessing is
- 5:30Speaker 2: now you are on your own. Now you walk in
- 5:34Speaker 2: your house. Ain't nobody in there with a disruptive spirit.
- 5:37Speaker 2: Now you go home. You could take your clothes off,
- 5:40Speaker 2: walk around like you want to. Now you go home.
- 5:44Speaker 2: You can sit down and look at TV or catch
- 5:47Speaker 2: your breath if you want to. Your kids don't have
- 5:51Speaker 2: to see y'all arguing all the time. Have you looked
- 5:55Speaker 2: at the blessing in it? But now if you're going
- 5:58Speaker 2: to keep looking at the negative, then guess what? Now
- 6:01Speaker 2: you can't move forward because you keep allowing your past
- 6:07Speaker 2: to keep you from moving forward. If God has bought
- 6:11Speaker 2: you through it, why don't you move.
- 6:13Speaker 1: On from it? Look, you got through it. He gone.
- 6:17Speaker 2: He ain't coming back. He got somebody else. So you
- 6:21Speaker 2: gonna sit there and just keep tripping cause he gone
- 6:23Speaker 2: and he got somebody else. Hey, pick yourself up. Thank
- 6:28Speaker 2: God for the blessing. It didn't feel like a blessing
- 6:31Speaker 2: while you was going through it. And all the pain
- 6:34Speaker 2: of him leaving and the divorce and all that messed
- 6:37Speaker 2: you up.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Got it.
- 6:38Speaker 2: When you get through with all of that, you ain't
- 6:40Speaker 2: the first one been left. You ain't the first one
- 6:43Speaker 2: been divorced. You ain't the first one been in a
- 6:45Speaker 2: bad relationship.
- 6:47Speaker 1: Pick yourself.
- 6:47Speaker 2: Yourself up. Thank God for the blessing and move forward
- 6:52Speaker 2: in your life. Because maybe when you quit complaining, maybe
- 6:57Speaker 2: you'll find out that God has something in store for
- 7:00Speaker 2: you that he wants you to have, but he can't
- 7:03Speaker 2: give it to you if you ain't grateful. So God
- 7:06Speaker 2: gives you a blessing, but because you don't see it
- 7:09Speaker 2: as a blessing, you ain't grateful for it. Now, guess what?
- 7:13Speaker 2: You steady asking God to do something for you, but
- 7:15Speaker 2: you ain't thanking him for what he's done for you,
- 7:18Speaker 2: but you steady wanting him to do more.
- 7:21Speaker 1: How does that work? How does that work, man, that
- 7:24Speaker 1: he should keep.
- 7:25Speaker 2: On giving you things when you ain't even working with
- 7:28Speaker 2: the stuff he didn't gave you.
- 7:31Speaker 1: And I don't know.
- 7:31Speaker 2: And I'm just, I'm just using that one example that
- 7:34Speaker 2: could go for me and to vice versa and so
- 7:37Speaker 2: on and so forth. I'm just using that as an example. Now,
- 7:40Speaker 2: why I laid on that one so long, You have.
- 7:43Speaker 1: To take that up with God. That's all.
- 7:45Speaker 2: He ain't pointing fingers at nobody or nothing. Because I've
- 7:48Speaker 2: been guilty on both sides of the coin.
- 7:51Speaker 1: Who am I? But I'm just sharing with you what
- 7:53Speaker 1: I had to do.
- 7:54Speaker 2: I had to learn to stop allowing my past to
- 7:58Speaker 2: interfere with my future.
- 8:01Speaker 1: You're listening to the Steve Harvey Morning Show.
