- 0:00Speaker 1: Come on, Uh huh, I sure will. Good morning everybody,
- 0:09Speaker 1: y'all listening to the voice? Come on, dig me now,
- 0:12Speaker 1: want it only? Steve Harvey got a radio show. Hell
- 0:16Speaker 1: Man back in business too, Man Man, how good is God?
- 0:22Speaker 1: I mean, really, if you think about it in spite
- 0:24Speaker 1: of all that's going down in your life. First of all,
- 0:27Speaker 1: it could be worse. But secondly, sometimes you have to remember.
- 0:31Speaker 1: And I've just had to have this conversation with myself
- 0:34Speaker 1: this morning. That's how I'm fresh on this one right here.
- 0:38Speaker 1: When a challenge faces you, are you going through a
- 0:42Speaker 1: difficult moment, or you didn't hit a bump in the
- 0:45Speaker 1: road in the middle of that, if you could manage
- 0:48Speaker 1: to be grateful, it would take you a long way.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Gratitude is a powerful resource if you can be grateful
- 0:57Speaker 1: in the middle of it. Gratitude is a powerful resource
- 1:02Speaker 1: when it's dim for you. And then got a little
- 1:05Speaker 1: bumpy on the road, and he ran into some obstacles,
- 1:08Speaker 1: and you done ran up into some detooled signs, and
- 1:11Speaker 1: your journey ain't smooth as it was last week or
- 1:16Speaker 1: last year. You gotta be grateful for the things that
- 1:20Speaker 1: are going right and that have gone right, and for
- 1:24Speaker 1: the thing that's wrong right now to get right? Man?
- 1:28Speaker 1: Can I share that with you? Man? Is that a
- 1:30Speaker 1: tough one to learn? It is for me It has
- 1:33Speaker 1: been one of my toughest challenges is to learn how
- 1:38Speaker 1: to be grateful because it's a powerful resource, but how
- 1:41Speaker 1: to be grateful in moments of despair when it ain't
- 1:45Speaker 1: going right. See here's a mistake I would make. See
- 1:48Speaker 1: when something go wrong, I want to focus on the
- 1:50Speaker 1: wrong so much in an attempt to fix it. But
- 1:55Speaker 1: even then the focus ain't always in to fix it.
- 1:59Speaker 1: The focus comes. Man, this is bad. Man, I can't
- 2:03Speaker 1: believe this is happening. Why this keep going down? That
- 2:07Speaker 1: doesn't fix anything? You know, mealing over it, going over
- 2:12Speaker 1: what's wrong, explaining it, sharing it with your friends, you know,
- 2:18Speaker 1: making it sound worse than it is, tell the story
- 2:22Speaker 1: for pity from other people. All of that, right there,
- 2:25Speaker 1: has nothing to do with the fix. Sometimes you're just
- 2:28Speaker 1: mulling over it. You're just making it worse. You're just
- 2:31Speaker 1: making it a bigger problem. You're manifesting it into your atmosphere,
- 2:35Speaker 1: You're putting it out there in your spirit. Now all
- 2:38Speaker 1: of a sudden it consumes your day. Next thing you
- 2:40Speaker 1: know you're having a bad day. If you're having a
- 2:43Speaker 1: bad day, it's because you've been having some bad thoughts.
- 2:47Speaker 1: So what I've had to learn how to do, and
- 2:48Speaker 1: what I'm working on this morning is I'm working on
- 2:52Speaker 1: the situation that Ben cropped up. I was going kind
- 2:55Speaker 1: of smooth here for a minute and now then got
- 2:57Speaker 1: real bumpy in the road, you know, and all. So
- 3:00Speaker 1: what I'm thinking about now though, is even though I've
- 3:03Speaker 1: hit a bumping the road, and even though I done
- 3:06Speaker 1: ran into a detour, and even though I've hit this lull,
- 3:11Speaker 1: I'm going down into a valley, I ain't up on
- 3:14Speaker 1: the peak. Can I not still be grateful for all
- 3:18Speaker 1: the things that God has given me, for all the
- 3:21Speaker 1: things He's done for me, for all the things He's
- 3:24Speaker 1: brought me through, And realizing that even this that's happening
- 3:29Speaker 1: to me again is going to pass to He gonna
- 3:32Speaker 1: get me through that toude. Come on, man, God is
- 3:35Speaker 1: a good god man. It's a lot to be grateful for.
- 3:37Speaker 1: So while I'm tripping on this bumping the road out
- 3:40Speaker 1: in here, what I got to remember is all the
- 3:42Speaker 1: things He's done for me. And like I say, my
- 3:44Speaker 1: saying is join depression cannot reside in the same place.
- 3:48Speaker 1: So instead of being down about this new bumping the road,
- 3:51Speaker 1: if I'm constantly filling my mind with the thoughts of
- 3:54Speaker 1: how good he's been to me, of what all he's
- 3:57Speaker 1: done for me, of all the things he's brought me through,
- 4:00Speaker 1: of all the blessings he's presented me with. When I
- 4:03Speaker 1: go down that list, I really don't have a lot
- 4:06Speaker 1: of time to mull over the situation. Now. Do I
- 4:12Speaker 1: have to fix this bump in the roll? Of course
- 4:15Speaker 1: I do. Are There's some things I'm going to have
- 4:17Speaker 1: to do to straighten it out. Of course it is.
- 4:20Speaker 1: But Steve just going to get the business of doing
- 4:22Speaker 1: it and straighten it out. What you mulling over and
- 4:25Speaker 1: worrying about it for you know, old people. I heard
- 4:28Speaker 1: old people say something when I was growing up in
- 4:29Speaker 1: the church. They say, if you're gonna pray about it,
- 4:32Speaker 1: don't worry about it. But if you're gonna worry about it,
- 4:34Speaker 1: don't pray about it. That's an amazing thing. And prayer
- 4:38Speaker 1: just happens to be my weapon of choice now that
- 4:41Speaker 1: it ain't always been that way. I want you to
- 4:43Speaker 1: understand that my first weapon of choice was you do
- 4:46Speaker 1: it to me, I do it to you. You called
- 4:49Speaker 1: me out, I call you out. You say something bad
- 4:51Speaker 1: about me, I've tried to find you say something bad
- 4:54Speaker 1: about you. That was my weapon in the past. How
- 4:57Speaker 1: did that work out for you? Steve so good? Because
- 5:01Speaker 1: you know what, I spent a lot of time fighting back,
- 5:05Speaker 1: kicking back, swinging back, when I could have spent all
- 5:09Speaker 1: that time climbing. See, all you trying to do at
- 5:12Speaker 1: the end of the day, folks, is have a better
- 5:14Speaker 1: life than the one you got. All you trying to
- 5:17Speaker 1: do is to improve your position in life. You know,
- 5:19Speaker 1: it's not my business to make sure you don't get
- 5:22Speaker 1: where you going. I ain't got no time for that.
- 5:25Speaker 1: It's not my job to assure that you ain't as
- 5:28Speaker 1: high as me. I ain't got no time for that.
- 5:32Speaker 1: Your real mission and purpose is to have the best
- 5:35Speaker 1: life that you can have, to ascend to the highest
- 5:38Speaker 1: plateau that you can get to, to make your family
- 5:41Speaker 1: as comfortable as you can, to provide as much as
- 5:45Speaker 1: you can for your family. But legally, see, those of
- 5:48Speaker 1: us are sitting up here trying to come up with sideways.
- 5:51Speaker 1: You can ask a couple million men sitting in prison
- 5:53Speaker 1: today how they wish they hadn't have done that, And
- 5:56Speaker 1: they'll tell you, Oh, man, I wish I never had
- 5:59Speaker 1: did it. I knew not to go down there. Something
- 6:03Speaker 1: told me not to go down there. Man. If I
- 6:05Speaker 1: could change things, I would. But they sitting somewhere doing
- 6:09Speaker 1: some time that had they made another decision, they wouldn't
- 6:12Speaker 1: have to do. Now. That don't make them throw away people, nah, man,
- 6:16Speaker 1: because everybody make mistakes, and God is in the forgiving business.
- 6:20Speaker 1: And some of us have done some things that really
- 6:23Speaker 1: broke the law, and a whole lot of other things
- 6:26Speaker 1: and deserve to do some time. But through the grace
- 6:28Speaker 1: of God, we didn't. But now we sit up here
- 6:30Speaker 1: and we pass judgment on people who got to do
- 6:32Speaker 1: some Now I don't care. I don't care what you've done.
- 6:35Speaker 1: God can forgive anything. But our position, our motivation in
- 6:39Speaker 1: life is to try to have the best life we
- 6:42Speaker 1: can have and provide for those around us and make
- 6:44Speaker 1: it comfortable. If that's your ambition, you don't have time
- 6:49Speaker 1: to worry about or concern yourself with another person. And
- 6:53Speaker 1: I wasted time doing that, and that's not the way
- 6:57Speaker 1: to get it done. It's simply mine to you. Your
- 7:00Speaker 1: business taking care of you and getting yourself right and
- 7:03Speaker 1: tight is twenty four seven. So that's a full time job.
- 7:06Speaker 1: So what I had to learn was and what I've
- 7:09Speaker 1: the reason I've chosen prayer as my weapon of choice
- 7:13Speaker 1: now is that now prayer helps me that I don't
- 7:17Speaker 1: have to fight back. Now, if I get cornered, I'm
- 7:21Speaker 1: gonna fight you. I ain't even gonna lie to you.
- 7:24Speaker 1: And now I'm still working on some things that trigger me.
- 7:27Speaker 1: You know, you know, you know, and so I'm I'm
- 7:32Speaker 1: slowly getting better at that. But I've learned that my
- 7:36Speaker 1: weapon of choice is prayer now. So when it happens
- 7:41Speaker 1: ugly for me, I pray about it. When it gets
- 7:44Speaker 1: tight and dismal for me, I pray about it. And
- 7:48Speaker 1: the thing about prayer, man, is prayer changes things. Yes,
- 7:53Speaker 1: it does. Now read about it and try it. That's
- 7:58Speaker 1: the deal. Okay, come on, prayer as a wonderful weapon.
- 8:01Speaker 1: You're listening to the Steve Harvey Morning Show.
