- 1:06Speaker 3: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 1:10Speaker 4: As much has been written about the Patriots dynasty and
- 1:13Speaker 4: the documentary, there's still a lot to be written.
- 1:15Speaker 5: Are you gonna write it?
- 1:16Speaker 4: This fan base has become insane, and you're the last
- 1:19Speaker 4: place that's attempting to inject some sane, rational opinions.
- 1:23Speaker 5: I've never been described that way. I'm miss insane as
- 1:26Speaker 5: they come. Rather a warm.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Day out there, unseasonably, haven't got him going.
- 1:32Speaker 6: He doesn't like the weather.
- 1:33Speaker 2: He hates No, I don't like people that I just
- 1:36Speaker 2: gotta be outside today, just just relaxing.
- 1:40Speaker 4: When it's too sunny, you can't see the all twenty two.
- 1:43Speaker 2: Right, we're all happy it's warm out and relaxed. Some
- 1:45Speaker 2: other nature.
- 1:46Speaker 7: What a da may we drafted to the twenty one Patriot.
- 1:49Speaker 4: I think I think we'd be talking about, you know
- 1:53Speaker 4: where the AFC Championship is going to.
- 1:54Speaker 5: Be played, Kansas City or Buffalo.
- 1:57Speaker 1: No, no, this is Patriots Unfiltered, presented by Toyota's official
- 2:02Speaker 1: website for deals by a Toyota dot com.
- 2:07Speaker 4: All right, welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Thursday, here
- 2:10Speaker 4: at the Let's Stadium, talking Patriots for the next couple hours.
- 2:14Speaker 4: Paul's hereduce, We'll be here, Evan'll be here, Alex will
- 2:18Speaker 4: not be here.
- 2:18Speaker 5: She's has sent her picks.
- 2:20Speaker 4: Yeah, feeling a little under the weather today.
- 2:22Speaker 5: She gave me some strict instructions to make sure I
- 2:25Speaker 5: wash my hands. Oh yeah, why, she said, it's very
- 2:29Speaker 5: important for your health.
- 2:30Speaker 4: She she got something she thinks she picked.
- 2:33Speaker 5: Up from how she said, Yeah, not feeling great. I'll
- 2:36Speaker 5: tell her I want to make sure I wash my
- 2:37Speaker 5: he not to touch dirty things. Yeah, absolutely, all right,
- 2:41Speaker 5: I do have her pick.
- 2:42Speaker 4: She sent her picks, So she's all said, she's got
- 2:44Speaker 4: her picks in just how was last week? Just real,
- 2:48Speaker 4: real high level.
- 2:49Speaker 5: Okay, Okay, still not like you know, not like the
- 2:52Speaker 5: thirteen and one that Evan and I put up the
- 2:54Speaker 5: week before. But okay, everybody did, Okay.
- 2:56Speaker 4: Okay, all right, we'll get to that lead with the spread. Okay, well,
- 3:00Speaker 4: that's good. We'll have to get to that later. We'll
- 3:03Speaker 4: have to hurry. But we're still talking about the state
- 3:09Speaker 4: of this team, obviously, and we're going to be doing
- 3:11Speaker 4: that until the end of the season. I would assume
- 3:15Speaker 4: the coordinators talked today. They did, DeMarcus Covington and Alex
- 3:18Speaker 4: van Pelt.
- 3:19Speaker 5: Yeah, and I like some of the stuff I heard
- 3:22Speaker 5: from Van Pelt. I don't know, how did you listen
- 3:24Speaker 5: to both?
- 3:24Speaker 4: I think that of everyone then that gets in front
- 3:27Speaker 4: of the microphone right now from leadership of the Patriots,
- 3:30Speaker 4: I think Van Pelt is probably the most straightforward of
- 3:33Speaker 4: all of them. Right I.
- 3:36Speaker 5: Was walking back with Evan and Tamara and Mike, and
- 3:40Speaker 5: I just look like I just said, I think he
- 3:44Speaker 5: does a better job of being the head coach than that,
- 3:46Speaker 5: you know, which probably isn't all that surprising. Yeah, because
- 3:49Speaker 5: of his level of experience as compared to Gerard Mayom,
- 3:52Speaker 5: you know, he's probably a little bit more comfortable, you know,
- 3:56Speaker 5: with what things are going on now. Obviously he's not
- 4:00Speaker 5: thrilled with the state of the offense, the state of
- 4:03Speaker 5: the team one and six, all that stuff. But you know,
- 4:06Speaker 5: he's asked a couple of questions about the wide receiver,
- 4:08Speaker 5: sort of popping off a little bit, and you know
- 4:09Speaker 5: it's like, yeah, no, we you know, we've discussed this,
- 4:11Speaker 5: and you know what I would say is we need
- 4:13Speaker 5: to keep these things inward, do a better job of
- 4:16Speaker 5: a better job of keeping it internal. And that's I
- 4:19Speaker 5: think what you want to hear, not like, you know,
- 4:22Speaker 5: we're expressing ourselves and whatnot. No, I get it, you're
- 4:26Speaker 5: trying to be a little bit different in terms of,
- 4:30Speaker 5: you know, what you're allowing, the latitude you're giving the players.
- 4:33Speaker 5: But when you have problems in that regard, and some
- 4:36Speaker 5: of those problems were from Mayo him self, I think
- 4:38Speaker 5: you got to button it up a little bit. And
- 4:40Speaker 5: I like the way that that Van pelt really some
- 4:43Speaker 5: strong praise for Drake may which I'm sure fans are
- 4:46Speaker 5: excited to hear.
- 4:47Speaker 4: Yeah, so we talked about yesterday. You know, something's going
- 4:51Speaker 4: right with him. I know it's only been two games.
- 4:54Speaker 4: But you know who who should get the credit for that?
- 4:59Speaker 4: Who's been working with him most closely? Is it Alice
- 5:02Speaker 4: van Pelt, Is it Ben McAdoo, But whoever it is,
- 5:05Speaker 4: maybe it's both of them. So far it looks well
- 5:10Speaker 4: the positive.
- 5:10Speaker 5: You see progress, yeah, you know, you see, you know,
- 5:12Speaker 5: And he talked about one of the specific comments that
- 5:15Speaker 5: Van Pelt made was that he felt that May did
- 5:20Speaker 5: a really good job of seeing the field on Sunday,
- 5:23Speaker 5: you know, in London. So yeah, I think that's a
- 5:26Speaker 5: great sign for a young quarterback and his second start
- 5:29Speaker 5: to be seeing the field well, according to a guy
- 5:31Speaker 5: who's been in the league for over twenty years.
- 5:33Speaker 4: And like I said yesterday, now I look forward to
- 5:36Speaker 4: this game because I think this is another a bigger
- 5:39Speaker 4: test for Drake May. I think it's a better offense
- 5:42Speaker 4: certainly than they faced last week, better defense, I'm sorry,
- 5:46Speaker 4: And they gave the Patriots quarterbacks problems the first time
- 5:51Speaker 4: that they played them, and we'll see.
- 5:53Speaker 5: Alex talked a little bit about that too, some of
- 5:55Speaker 5: the things he felt like he put Perset in some
- 5:57Speaker 5: bad spots in that game and didn't want to get
- 5:59Speaker 5: into specifics of like game plan and scheme and whatnot,
- 6:03Speaker 5: But I think he feels like he didn't put the
- 6:06Speaker 5: offense in the best position to succeed that night.
- 6:09Speaker 4: Yeah, so I'm from that perspective. I'm looking forward to
- 6:13Speaker 4: this game.
- 6:14Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, I do think it's any time you
- 6:17Speaker 5: have a chance to sort of evaluate and observe Drake May,
- 6:21Speaker 5: I think that's worth that.
- 6:23Speaker 4: Game, worth tuning in.
- 6:24Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, and that's what we're looking for. We're
- 6:27Speaker 5: looking for progress every week. So I would agree with you.
- 6:31Speaker 5: I think it's it's kind of a good test to see.
- 6:33Speaker 5: I mean, we'll see who ends up playing for the Jets.
- 6:36Speaker 5: They had a lot of guys on their injury report
- 6:38Speaker 5: yesterday too. Patriots had more guys listened to as d
- 6:41Speaker 5: n P than we thought, you know, after practice. Some
- 6:44Speaker 5: of the guys that that Evan did actually see didn't practice,
- 6:48Speaker 5: a guy like he on White as an example, although
- 6:51Speaker 5: we should point out that Stevenson was listed as a
- 6:55Speaker 5: foot slash personal so maybe that was you know, maybe
- 6:59Speaker 5: he had something going on to that yesterday and that's
- 7:01Speaker 5: why he didn't practice. It wasn't really about the foot.
- 7:04Speaker 4: Yeah, So we'll we'll hear from Evan later on. He'll
- 7:07Speaker 4: be coming back from practice.
- 7:09Speaker 5: Michael be here too. I think you wanted to pop
- 7:10Speaker 5: in the locker room for a little bit, and he'll come.
- 7:12Speaker 4: By after that talk to some of the fellas following
- 7:15Speaker 4: you lead you give him a yeah from morale? Sure, especially, uh,
- 7:21Speaker 4: who's this guy?
- 7:23Speaker 5: Who's what? Guy?
- 7:23Speaker 4: Who's he's here now? Yeah? His morales? No updates on him? No, No,
- 7:29Speaker 4: that's not looking good. I would say, I don't know,
- 7:33Speaker 4: it's taken too long.
- 7:35Speaker 5: I'm going to stay out of it. Yes, I don't
- 7:37Speaker 5: want to get myself in any trouble. I don't I
- 7:40Speaker 5: don't have any of the information. So yeah, anyway, show
- 7:44Speaker 5: rare restraint for Paul.
- 7:46Speaker 4: Sure, what was I gonna say? I forgot, Well, the
- 7:51Speaker 4: soft thing everyone's been chiming in, and Christian Fourier now
- 7:55Speaker 4: and Devin mccordy was chiming in, and Tom Brady and
- 7:59Speaker 4: although tom Brady really changed the subject when when they
- 8:03Speaker 4: asked him about it, he started talking about the Detroit
- 8:06Speaker 4: Lions and and all that stuff and stopping the run,
- 8:10Speaker 4: establishing the run. Coach Belichick said that when he would
- 8:13Speaker 4: say things like that, he'd back it up with evidence
- 8:15Speaker 4: in terms of, you know, stats, which I think sure,
- 8:19Speaker 4: I kind of did the same thing. He said, it's
- 8:21Speaker 4: about stopping the run, running the ball, and covering kick,
- 8:26Speaker 4: you know, And I'm sure he learned that from Bill Belichick.
- 8:28Speaker 5: And I just see I have. It's funny that you
- 8:34Speaker 5: bring this up, like the whole soft thing. I think
- 8:38Speaker 5: you're talking like that's talking like physically if you're a
- 8:41Speaker 5: physical team or not. Like I think for years Kansas
- 8:45Speaker 5: City was as finesse oriented as they're a little bit
- 8:48Speaker 5: different now. Their defense is a different kind of defense
- 8:51Speaker 5: right now. Last year and this year they have a
- 8:54Speaker 5: really good stout physical defense. So that's not necessarily true now.
- 8:58Speaker 5: But I think when Mahomes started winning Super Bowls, if
- 9:04Speaker 5: you go by these parameters, they were a soft team.
- 9:07Speaker 5: They weren't a great run team that could run the ball,
- 9:10Speaker 5: stop the run, all that stuff, but they were a
- 9:13Speaker 5: great team. I look at soft not as a physical thing,
- 9:16Speaker 5: as a mental thing, like that team is soft. As
- 9:19Speaker 5: soon as they face adversity, they wilt, you know. And
- 9:23Speaker 5: we've seen teams like that over the years. We saw
- 9:25Speaker 5: like I think there were times where those old Colts.
- 9:28Speaker 4: Teams remember saying the Chargers when they came in.
- 9:31Speaker 5: Here, Oh, the Chargers, you know, like the you know,
- 9:34Speaker 5: the the pitcher of LT on the bench was sort
- 9:39Speaker 5: of you know, that kind of an illustration. But I
- 9:41Speaker 5: think of those those Manning teams three to four when
- 9:45Speaker 5: they came in here. You know, they would have a
- 9:47Speaker 5: good game plan. They'd go right down the field and
- 9:49Speaker 5: Manning threw as a pick in the end zone. Game's
- 9:51Speaker 5: over right because they were soft, right, Like, I don't
- 9:54Speaker 5: think they were soft because they couldn't stop the run
- 9:55Speaker 5: and run the ball. They were soft mentally, yeah, you know,
- 9:59Speaker 5: and now Bill would argue and he'd be right, well,
- 10:03Speaker 5: they went hand in hand because those teams really weren't
- 10:05Speaker 5: great stopping the run. They could run the ball with
- 10:07Speaker 5: Edrin James, but they weren't great stopping the run. They
- 10:10Speaker 5: weren't overly physical. They had Freenye and Mathis on the edges.
- 10:14Speaker 5: They were more speed, smaller speed oriented defensive ends that
- 10:18Speaker 5: you could run on because he would get them up
- 10:19Speaker 5: the field and Bill would run right by him with
- 10:21Speaker 5: Corey Dillon. So I think, to me at six to
- 10:25Speaker 5: one half dozen the other. But I look at it
- 10:26Speaker 5: more as Falcons as a mental thing, you know, yeah,
- 10:29Speaker 5: that that that Falcons team was tough, but not when
- 10:32Speaker 5: all of a sudden, when the when the when the
- 10:35Speaker 5: tables turned and they couldn't shut it off. They didn't
- 10:38Speaker 5: have anything to respond with it.
- 10:40Speaker 4: But you know, it's so funny because you go.
- 10:42Speaker 5: Back as a physical team, you go back through.
- 10:44Speaker 4: The dynasty years, and for the Patriots, they were a
- 10:49Speaker 4: tough mental team, not just because they could run the ball,
- 10:53Speaker 4: stop and run. They really weren't that great a running team,
- 10:55Speaker 4: but early on, early on with dyln't but later on
- 10:59Speaker 4: they weren't that great, you know, afterwards, but they had
- 11:03Speaker 4: guys whether it was Bruski or Rabel or Harrison, they
- 11:09Speaker 4: would come up and make plays in the biggest moments.
- 11:13Speaker 4: Like mentally, they were so they were so focused and
- 11:16Speaker 4: so prepared from a situational football thing, like you know.
- 11:22Speaker 5: I always felt that was the different the differentiation between
- 11:25Speaker 5: them and other great teams at the time was they
- 11:28Speaker 5: were so tough mentally.
- 11:30Speaker 4: Mentally, like if and they're so aware of the situation.
- 11:33Speaker 4: And if you're aware of the situation, you you you're
- 11:37Speaker 4: able to act more instinctively, you know. And I think
- 11:41Speaker 4: that's where the Patriots had the edge on so many
- 11:45Speaker 4: teams during that time.
- 11:46Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, it's a good point, and you know,
- 11:49Speaker 5: I think we're talking semantics like you and I often
- 11:52Speaker 5: argue about, you know, the word choices and whatnot. But
- 11:56Speaker 5: I think the biggest problem right now is the team
- 12:00Speaker 5: mentality itself. And I think you heard a little of
- 12:02Speaker 5: that from vanpel today. You know, he was asked about
- 12:05Speaker 5: specifically the work ethic, you know, of the wide receiver room,
- 12:09Speaker 5: and he's like, yeah, no, we had a meeting about
- 12:11Speaker 5: that this morning, and you know, just sort of everybody
- 12:15Speaker 5: doing what they need to do to be ready to
- 12:17Speaker 5: play in the game. Like, none of this is going
- 12:19Speaker 5: to get fixed until they win. You know, if they
- 12:22Speaker 5: can win Sunday over the Jets, then at least you
- 12:24Speaker 5: can take a step toward having some kind of positivity
- 12:27Speaker 5: heading into the following week. But I do think that's
- 12:30Speaker 5: part of it. Is that you can talk about being
- 12:33Speaker 5: physical on the line of scrimmage and run the ball,
- 12:35Speaker 5: stop to run. Those things are obviously important, but I
- 12:39Speaker 5: think the far bigger issues are in the far more
- 12:42Speaker 5: troubling issues are what we're hearing off the field. When
- 12:45Speaker 5: Kendrick Bourne is talking about the wide receivers not being
- 12:48Speaker 5: ready to play on Sunday, you know, and I don't
- 12:51Speaker 5: know who he's talking about. And you know, some people
- 12:54Speaker 5: say it had nothing to do with London. Some people
- 12:56Speaker 5: say he was talking specifically about someone else. It doesn't matter,
- 13:00Speaker 5: doesn't matter. It's it's a it's a mindset that's permeating
- 13:04Speaker 5: the team right now of you know, even even Alex
- 13:07Speaker 5: van pel talk about how well Booty's playing right now,
- 13:11Speaker 5: and he goes and this is the second time he's
- 13:13Speaker 5: done this in like the last three or four weeks,
- 13:14Speaker 5: talking about kay Shan Booty. He goes back to, you know,
- 13:17Speaker 5: he's practiced a lot better, he's putting a lot more
- 13:20Speaker 5: time into it. So there was a time that he
- 13:23Speaker 5: wasn't doing what he needed to do right, you know,
- 13:25Speaker 5: and that's that's a problem. I think that's far bigger
- 13:28Speaker 5: than being able to stop the run.
- 13:29Speaker 4: Yeah, absolutely, all right. Uh eight five five past five
- 13:33Speaker 4: hundred is the TPX Hotline podcast at Patriots dot com.
- 13:38Speaker 4: Is the email address one thing though, you know, I
- 13:41Speaker 4: I have an hour commute in the morning, so I
- 13:44Speaker 4: get to listen to your.
- 13:44Speaker 5: Show, listen to my shows even when I'm not on it.
- 13:46Speaker 4: It's just this this cry for Mayo to be fired
- 13:50Speaker 4: after seven games I just think it's ludicrous. And I'm
- 13:54Speaker 4: not saying that things are looking good for him in
- 13:57Speaker 4: terms of, you know, how he's presenting himself as the
- 14:01Speaker 4: head coach and certainly not the results.
- 14:03Speaker 5: Now, who are you hearing this from? You got nice
- 14:05Speaker 5: like you're gonna Yeah.
- 14:07Speaker 4: This is my no, this is my UK Patriots Film
- 14:10Speaker 4: Club shirt like that. They gave me that on Saturday night,
- 14:13Speaker 4: So I'm proudly wearing that. But like, I just noticed it.
- 14:16Speaker 4: But you know, we make fun of all these other teams.
- 14:19Speaker 4: Oh look, but like patients are already firing their coach.
- 14:23Speaker 5: But out of curiosity, where are you hearing at from? Specifically,
- 14:26Speaker 5: who's on your show? Jobs?
- 14:28Speaker 4: Oh, they just had a I just saw a lower
- 14:31Speaker 4: third on NBC Sports Boston. Should the Patriots be moving
- 14:34Speaker 4: on from? No?
- 14:35Speaker 5: But people see that's different than advocating that he should
- 14:38Speaker 5: be fired.
- 14:39Speaker 4: Oh yeah, well I'm hearing it on all your shows.
- 14:42Speaker 4: On all your shows. Bertrand was strong yesterday fired. Well, yeah,
- 14:48Speaker 4: he pretty much.
- 14:49Speaker 5: I look at it. That is kind of premature. I
- 14:53Speaker 5: mean seven, you got to give him some time to
- 14:55Speaker 5: sort of grow into the job.
- 14:57Speaker 4: You got to give him time. He's gonna he's making mistakes.
- 15:01Speaker 4: Is he making more mistakes than maybe your average first
- 15:03Speaker 4: time head coach. Maybe? Maybe, But I mean you got
- 15:09Speaker 4: to give him some time here, and you know, I'm
- 15:13Speaker 4: happy to get into the whole you know, Robert Kraft
- 15:16Speaker 4: choosing him without you know, other interviews. We can get
- 15:20Speaker 4: into that as well.
- 15:21Speaker 5: But but yeah, I mean I didn't like that at
- 15:23Speaker 5: the time we talked about.
- 15:24Speaker 4: That terms of you know, him as the head coach.
- 15:28Speaker 4: I just think, man, what are we doing. We're acting
- 15:31Speaker 4: like the team's fan base that we make fun of.
- 15:34Speaker 4: Over the last twenty years, we haven't had to, we
- 15:37Speaker 4: haven't had to do that, but as soon as we've
- 15:39Speaker 4: had to, we're collapsing where we're like, we're losing it.
- 15:44Speaker 5: It's a lot of things we used to make fun
- 15:46Speaker 5: of other teams for Yeah, we don't get to do
- 15:48Speaker 5: that about anymore.
- 15:49Speaker 4: But we're right, well, we have nothing to make fun
- 15:52Speaker 4: of anybody for now. We are those teams exact. But
- 15:54Speaker 4: we don't have to act like those teams. We don't
- 15:57Speaker 4: have to, you know, go berserk after seven games. Let's
- 16:00Speaker 4: just you know, no one thought that this season was
- 16:04Speaker 4: going to be a winning season, contending for a playoff.
- 16:08Speaker 5: Yeah, but no one thought you were going to get
- 16:09Speaker 5: this stuff off the field either. No. I mean I
- 16:12Speaker 5: shouldn't say no one. I didn't think no, no, no.
- 16:15Speaker 4: But it's happening, and I think we just need to
- 16:18Speaker 4: just take a breath, Just take a breath.
- 16:21Speaker 5: Maybe if we didn't have so many local guys, you know,
- 16:23Speaker 5: predicting like eight nine win seasons, maybe people would have
- 16:27Speaker 5: been a little bit more prepared.
- 16:29Speaker 4: Oh my god. People have to make decisions for themselves.
- 16:32Speaker 4: Don't be influenced by writers who aren't covering it for
- 16:37Speaker 4: the sake of news.
- 16:39Speaker 5: No, I mean, I want a great phrase, writers who
- 16:41Speaker 5: aren't covering it for the sake of news.
- 16:43Speaker 4: Isn't that true?
- 16:45Speaker 5: I do? I think some people. I think in Felger
- 16:49Speaker 5: had a great on my show yesterday. Felger had a
- 16:51Speaker 5: great rant about the Bruins. Had nothing to do with
- 16:54Speaker 5: the Patriots at alos about the Bruins, just sort of
- 16:56Speaker 5: the lament of the way all the teams are covered.
- 16:59Speaker 5: I think there are too many guys who are just
- 17:02Speaker 5: thrilled to be covering a pro team. And as he
- 17:06Speaker 5: put it, it's like instead of asking the head coach
- 17:09Speaker 5: about an altercation that he had on the bench, with
- 17:11Speaker 5: the captain, which happened last Saturday. I actually saw that.
- 17:14Speaker 5: I saw that live. No one's asked about it since,
- 17:18Speaker 5: and here we are the following Thursday. You know, he goes,
- 17:21Speaker 5: you know, now all these guys want to do is
- 17:24Speaker 5: get on the internet and put it up, want to
- 17:25Speaker 5: blog and give me a you know, give me a
- 17:27Speaker 5: video clip of the you know, the backchecking system you know, uh,
- 17:31Speaker 5: you know with like, I don't care about that, and
- 17:34Speaker 5: and I think a lot of people don't really care
- 17:36Speaker 5: about that stuff. You know, is there something wrong with
- 17:39Speaker 5: your team? And if there is? Why? That's why I
- 17:43Speaker 5: thought Van Pelt was really refreshing to listen to today
- 17:46Speaker 5: because he sort of acknowledged, Yeah, we got to button
- 17:49Speaker 5: some things down. I'm paraphrasing, you know, keep it inward,
- 17:52Speaker 5: I think was the phrase he did us keep it internal.
- 17:56Speaker 5: And I think that's part of what's going wrong, you know,
- 18:01Speaker 5: on the field, is what started the field.
- 18:03Speaker 4: I agree, loose lips think ships, Yeah.
- 18:06Speaker 5: So I think. But it's not even loose lips.
- 18:08Speaker 4: It's I'm not talking about leaking, but I'm just saying.
- 18:10Speaker 5: It's too much. They're not they're not doing what they're
- 18:13Speaker 5: supposed to be doing and it shows.
- 18:17Speaker 4: All right, let's get to the TPX outline, because we do.
- 18:19Speaker 5: Have picks and it's just us too. We don't we
- 18:22Speaker 5: have to hurry.
- 18:23Speaker 4: I don't like this star with just two people, Paul,
- 18:28Speaker 4: I won't take that person no, no, no, no, no
- 18:30Speaker 4: offense to you personally. But I like it when we're
- 18:32Speaker 4: all together, you know. So we're gonna have to talk
- 18:37Speaker 4: to maybe the football administration about changing their schedule a
- 18:41Speaker 4: little bit.
- 18:43Speaker 5: You're gonna do that, are yah?
- 18:44Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 18:44Speaker 5: Okay, No, I think this is a great schedule. To
- 18:47Speaker 5: be honest with you, well, it's great overall, it is.
- 18:50Speaker 5: I mean, I mean, to be honest, I feel like
- 18:53Speaker 5: I'm a little bit more connected than I have been
- 18:55Speaker 5: in the recent past because I'm I'm going to all
- 18:58Speaker 5: the press conferences now. Yeah, a lot of times the
- 19:00Speaker 5: press conference is in the old it used to be
- 19:01Speaker 5: during the can't go.
- 19:03Speaker 4: In the locker room. No, I know, he can't establish
- 19:05Speaker 4: those relationships and important to bring the team.
- 19:08Speaker 5: But they also at the same time don't really want
- 19:10Speaker 5: us in the locker room anymore. So it's kind of
- 19:12Speaker 5: it kind of works hand in hand.
- 19:14Speaker 4: All right.
- 19:15Speaker 5: Let's start with a goo where I'm not wanted.
- 19:17Speaker 4: Let's go with Josh and Newport, Rhode Island. What's up, Josh? Hello, Yes, Josh. Hey.
- 19:27Speaker 7: So the thing about the Patriots salary cap, you can't
- 19:31Speaker 7: expect the team to be competitive with one hundred and
- 19:33Speaker 7: twenty million in free cap space, right. I don't think
- 19:37Speaker 7: the expectation is out there. I do think wide receivers,
- 19:41Speaker 7: you know, especially kJ.
- 19:44Speaker 8: Osborne, was not expecting to see that this week out
- 19:47Speaker 8: of him with the trade talks and everything. But if
- 19:53Speaker 8: we're looking towards the draft, do you guys like any
- 19:57Speaker 8: of these receivers. I mean, I'm not very high on
- 20:00Speaker 8: these receivers. You see Travis Hunter up there at the
- 20:03Speaker 8: top of the list, and you know I'm not I'm
- 20:05Speaker 8: not completely sold. You know, he's had some character issues
- 20:09Speaker 8: at Colorado. I don't see him being a number one
- 20:13Speaker 8: wide receiver unless he's doing that full time. I mean
- 20:16Speaker 8: right now that you guys, Okay, So.
- 20:18Speaker 5: I'm not interested in taking a wide receiver in the
- 20:21Speaker 5: top five, but Travis Hunter isn't worthy of a Like
- 20:25Speaker 5: Travis Hunter might be the best player in the draft period,
- 20:30Speaker 5: You're not sold on him as a receiver, not.
- 20:33Speaker 7: As a receiver no, I've seen him take better snaps
- 20:36Speaker 7: that quarterback.
- 20:37Speaker 5: I think he could do that too. I mean, Travis Hunter,
- 20:42Speaker 5: to me, is a very good shot of being the
- 20:43Speaker 5: number one overall pick.
- 20:45Speaker 4: I heard he's a generational player.
- 20:47Speaker 5: A lot of people have referred to am as that,
- 20:49Speaker 5: and I'm not gonna I'm not going to pretend to
- 20:51Speaker 5: be an expert. I'm not. That's the way he's talked about.
- 20:54Speaker 4: I have to be honest. I'm not thinking about the
- 20:55Speaker 4: draft right now. I'm focused on this season and in terms.
- 20:58Speaker 5: Of cap space. Yeah, so you know, I just take
- 21:01Speaker 5: umbrage of the hun You can't. That's that's wrong, right.
- 21:06Speaker 5: But you can't be competitive if you have a lot
- 21:08Speaker 5: of cap space. The Niners have the most cap space
- 21:10Speaker 5: in football. The Patriots are third, Lions are fourth, Commanders
- 21:14Speaker 5: are fifth. So I think I think you can have nothing.
- 21:17Speaker 5: You can I think you can do both.
- 21:20Speaker 4: That's got nothing to do with it.
- 21:22Speaker 5: So there you got, you got your wish. Yeah, he
- 21:24Speaker 5: had no use for me, Mike, He said, I don't
- 21:27Speaker 5: like this. No, I did with just two of us.
- 21:29Speaker 5: So I'm just gonna drink. I'm just gonna work on
- 21:31Speaker 5: my two leaders. That Matt left what's going on.
- 21:34Speaker 4: Who's back from the locker room? What was the mood
- 21:38Speaker 4: where the players friendly to that none of them looked
- 21:40Speaker 4: like devick Henry.
- 21:42Speaker 9: Hey, Mike, what was it like in the locker room? Hay, Mike,
- 21:48Speaker 9: what was it like in the locker room?
- 21:53Speaker 4: What's up, Mike?
- 21:53Speaker 6: It's nice?
- 21:54Speaker 5: Hi.
- 21:54Speaker 6: Everybody really has such a nice here, pleasant, sweet, beautiful
- 21:58Speaker 6: dulcet just a good little diddy. Yeah, thank you. Uh well,
- 22:03Speaker 6: uh yeah, we heard from Jonathan Jones and Kendrick Born
- 22:06Speaker 6: in locker room and a lot of talk about Van
- 22:08Speaker 6: Pelt's meeting, a little come to Jesus meeting, keep it inside,
- 22:13Speaker 6: keep it Yeah, I really like sick, been sick.
- 22:17Speaker 5: I'm over my These guys don't wash their hands.
- 22:22Speaker 4: How it's sick because she's sick.
- 22:23Speaker 6: Okay's sick, Matt's sick, everybody's And no, I think I
- 22:26Speaker 6: got it first, but uh but no I I Jesus No.
- 22:31Speaker 6: I thought it was interesting Kendrick Bourne, you know, and
- 22:32Speaker 6: really that's the room that seems like everybody's focused on
- 22:35Speaker 6: and uh trying to focus on themselves. And I mean
- 22:39Speaker 6: really the gist of it to me was him kind
- 22:42Speaker 6: of saying, these are young guys who don't really know
- 22:44Speaker 6: how to be professionals yet. I mean that was kind
- 22:46Speaker 6: of the overarching vibe of Kendrick Bourne and and him.
- 22:51Speaker 6: He also brought up like nil, he just said, it's
- 22:53Speaker 6: different now when guys come in. When I came in,
- 22:55Speaker 6: I didn't have any money, and I had all these
- 22:57Speaker 6: goals that I wanted to achieve, and you know, that's
- 22:59Speaker 6: how I set about my my career. But he's like,
- 23:01Speaker 6: things are different now. Kids are coming in. They already
- 23:03Speaker 6: got money, They got to understand how to be you know,
- 23:06Speaker 6: professional football players.
- 23:07Speaker 4: So did he say anything about him, you know, stepping
- 23:10Speaker 4: up and trying to teach these guys how to be professional.
- 23:13Speaker 6: Yeah, no, absolutely, that's what you know he said he
- 23:15Speaker 6: was doing. He also clarified that his comments in England
- 23:18Speaker 6: were not referring to Pop. He's like, everyone took what
- 23:20Speaker 6: I said is calling out Pop for that. He's like,
- 23:23Speaker 6: it was not that, you know, he said, it was
- 23:26Speaker 6: more general. You know said that was you understood Pop
- 23:29Speaker 6: had food poisoning, that was legit. So I don't know.
- 23:32Speaker 6: I mean, it's just like when you realize you've lost
- 23:34Speaker 6: six games in a row each week, you've got like
- 23:36Speaker 6: a new tactic to try to reverse the bleeding and
- 23:39Speaker 6: stem the tide, and it doesn't always work, so we'll
- 23:42Speaker 6: see if this week's kind of stuff works. But it
- 23:44Speaker 6: certainly seems like everybody was kind of impacted by the meeting,
- 23:47Speaker 6: and we heard from Jonathan Jones first, who you know,
- 23:49Speaker 6: just gave a little bit of a perspective from a
- 23:51Speaker 6: guy who was here, you know, when when the culture
- 23:53Speaker 6: was established, and you know, you just you can't help
- 23:56Speaker 6: but feel like, whether it's injuries, whether it's the coaching turnover,
- 24:00Speaker 6: this is a new team that needs to find a
- 24:02Speaker 6: new identity and trying to go back to something that
- 24:06Speaker 6: was established previously here and in years gone by, that
- 24:09Speaker 6: it's it's not going to really ring true. These guys
- 24:11Speaker 6: have to figure it out themselves, and it might be
- 24:13Speaker 6: a little bit of a process that was well kind
- 24:15Speaker 6: of my take.
- 24:16Speaker 4: I agree with that they need to figure it out
- 24:18Speaker 4: from thoselves, but sometimes it helps to have somebody guiding you,
- 24:23Speaker 4: you know, so that you know you can help to
- 24:26Speaker 4: figure it out. And like we talked about yesterday, I
- 24:29Speaker 4: just wonder who those people are.
- 24:32Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, I think that's part of the the
- 24:34Speaker 6: chemistry right now, is that these guys have to kind
- 24:36Speaker 6: of emerge. And I mean, I know we talked a
- 24:39Speaker 6: little bit about Drake, like he's maybe not ready, but
- 24:42Speaker 6: like this is slowly going to be his team and
- 24:44Speaker 6: he's going to start to not be happy with you know, guys,
- 24:47Speaker 6: and everybody's talking about the receivers, you know, saying I
- 24:50Speaker 6: want the ball and YadA, YadA, YadA. But I don't
- 24:53Speaker 6: know that's what that's what has to happen, and you've
- 24:55Speaker 6: got guys out and there's there's a vacuum right now.
- 24:58Speaker 5: I do think that that's a huge undersold part of this.
- 25:01Speaker 5: We talked about the three of us talked about this
- 25:03Speaker 5: yesterday a little bit, like we can be critical of
- 25:06Speaker 5: everything that's going on, critical of Girodmeo and how he's
- 25:09Speaker 5: handled certain things, and some of it's accurate, but it
- 25:13Speaker 5: is remarkable how all of the veterans that he wanted
- 25:18Speaker 5: to be his circle the wagon guys, almost all of
- 25:22Speaker 5: them have either been hurt or taken out of the
- 25:24Speaker 5: equation in some way. Yeah, and that's hard. Jonathan Jones
- 25:27Speaker 5: is one of the few guys that you know, even
- 25:29Speaker 5: off the top of my head, that was around for
- 25:32Speaker 5: any of you know, like Andrews is not there, you know,
- 25:35Speaker 5: like all of those.
- 25:36Speaker 6: Guys, Tim and Wise and I guess cardonas I mean
- 25:39Speaker 6: those are yeah, and even the only.
- 25:41Speaker 5: You know why, you know, why is this part of that?
- 25:43Speaker 5: You know, Cardona is a long snow, you know. I
- 25:45Speaker 5: mean it's you know, yeah, it's even even a guy
- 25:47Speaker 5: like Jacoby Brissett, who I think is a you know,
- 25:50Speaker 5: I think he's the consummate professional, but now is the
- 25:54Speaker 5: backup quarterback. So it's hard to lead at that spot.
- 25:56Speaker 5: So now you have a twenty two year old who's
- 25:59Speaker 5: who's sort of trying to deal with this. I mean,
- 26:02Speaker 5: let's call it what it is. You know, kind of
- 26:04Speaker 5: a young, immature group of receivers. You know, that's hard.
- 26:08Speaker 6: It is exact word that was brought up with.
- 26:10Speaker 4: I mean you would think that, you know, you're in
- 26:13Speaker 4: the movies. Drake May would walk in to the wide
- 26:18Speaker 4: receiver meeting while they're bitching and moaning about not getting
- 26:21Speaker 4: the ball, and he would rip them a new one
- 26:23Speaker 4: and say, you'll get the ball, and I give it
- 26:25Speaker 4: to you when you get open, when when the play
- 26:28Speaker 4: is for you or whatever like like he would, you know,
- 26:32Speaker 4: and then they'd be like I liked, you know, they
- 26:35Speaker 4: get stars in their eyes, like, okay, you know our leader.
- 26:38Speaker 5: I like Pelt's answer to that though today, like, you know,
- 26:41Speaker 5: is it hard for him someone? I think Phil Perry
- 26:43Speaker 5: might have asked him if it's hard for a young
- 26:44Speaker 5: guy or maybe he was g r D and he
- 26:48Speaker 5: and Van Pelt said, you know, he's had people, you know,
- 26:51Speaker 5: bitching about not getting the ball before. This isn't the
- 26:54Speaker 5: first time quarterbacks deal with that. In other words, he's
- 26:58Speaker 5: got it. Yeah. I think everything about May is like
- 27:04Speaker 5: up here, like everything that we've seen, everything we've heard,
- 27:08Speaker 5: and then watching him actually you know the people talk
- 27:11Speaker 5: about him and watching him talk, I think everything has
- 27:14Speaker 5: got to be positive from him the point of view.
- 27:18Speaker 6: Did you have that problem everard? High school guys, I'll
- 27:22Speaker 6: hand the ball off to you when I want.
- 27:24Speaker 5: Can I just tell you when I'll seriousness like this
- 27:27Speaker 5: is like, please don't take this. This is nineteen eighty five, Okay,
- 27:32Speaker 5: it's it's it's not in a very minor league high
- 27:35Speaker 5: school level. Okay, yes, yeah, the answer to that is yes.
- 27:40Speaker 4: The big thing with Paul, the big thing with Paul
- 27:42Speaker 4: and Everett is they complained about the spin because he
- 27:45Speaker 4: was the left throw it with the right hand of
- 27:48Speaker 4: the ball.
- 27:49Speaker 5: But I'm just telling you in high school, it's more
- 27:53Speaker 5: like the play was. And I didn't play in one
- 27:55Speaker 5: of these sophisticated spreads. When we played in high school.
- 27:59Speaker 5: You know, we ran the play and you ran the play.
- 28:02Speaker 5: So when even the past plays, they were basically designed
- 28:05Speaker 5: to go to one person. Like we didn't have a
- 28:09Speaker 5: lot of high school quarterbacks in my day that were
- 28:12Speaker 5: like reading the defense and say, well, the safety was
- 28:14Speaker 5: down in the box, so I knew I had I
- 28:16Speaker 5: knew I had one on one on the outside. In
- 28:19Speaker 5: every play, Jimmy Gallanti would come back and say, Paul,
- 28:25Speaker 5: I was open. So one day we were playing this
- 28:29Speaker 5: was like this was we were sophomorees. We were playing
- 28:32Speaker 5: in a JV game in winthrom in like three plays
- 28:36Speaker 5: in a row, like three pass play every time I'm open,
- 28:39Speaker 5: I'm open. So he was the backside end and the
- 28:41Speaker 5: ball was always supposed to go to the to the
- 28:44Speaker 5: front side, and I just turned it looked he was
- 28:48Speaker 5: wide open. I throw him the ball. We made about
- 28:50Speaker 5: fifteen yards and the coach goes, why'd you throw it
- 28:53Speaker 5: in him? He goes, he comes back to the huddle.
- 28:55Speaker 5: Every play he tells me he was wide open, he
- 28:57Speaker 5: was open. I throw it, But like I wouldn't have
- 29:00Speaker 5: done that, Like I wouldn't have read the field and
- 29:02Speaker 5: done that, only because I was so sick of listening
- 29:05Speaker 5: to him bitch every play. I just said, all right,
- 29:08Speaker 5: I'll look at him.
- 29:09Speaker 6: And then he said, get me again, you got me again,
- 29:11Speaker 6: got me open.
- 29:11Speaker 5: Then he dropped one later and he had the radio.
- 29:16Speaker 4: By the way, greatest guy ever you should have underlaying.
- 29:20Speaker 5: That's why I prefaced it.
- 29:21Speaker 4: What I don't want.
- 29:22Speaker 5: I don't want to hear the lock shots. I'm not
- 29:24Speaker 5: pretending it was real.
- 29:25Speaker 6: All the same receivers.
- 29:26Speaker 4: So like a JV game in nineteen eighty three, you
- 29:29Speaker 4: think you could go into the wide receiver room and
- 29:31Speaker 4: tell that story, And think I could tell.
- 29:33Speaker 5: Him, yeah, you know yeah, shut the's right.
- 29:38Speaker 6: Get in there and off your phones.
- 29:40Speaker 5: And then Paul and as Teddy Brusk would say to
- 29:44Speaker 5: Chad O Cho Senko, get off your phone and get
- 29:47Speaker 5: in your playbooks.
- 29:48Speaker 4: Paul right, Paul finishes his five minute like you know,
- 29:51Speaker 4: fire and Brimstone speech walks out and they're like, who
- 29:54Speaker 4: was that?
- 29:55Speaker 5: That's the guy that works on the website. He just notes,
- 29:59Speaker 5: all right, it does a decent notes call him. He's
- 30:02Speaker 5: always talking about time management for some reason.
- 30:04Speaker 4: Next up is Austin and Illinois. What's up, Boston?
- 30:08Speaker 10: Hey, guys near me? Yes, Hey, I just want to know.
- 30:14Speaker 10: I know, Paul, you do this a lot.
- 30:16Speaker 11: What are we gonna stop discounting wins against backup quarterbacks?
- 30:21Speaker 4: Huh, Paul doesn't disc He does discount wins again backup quarterbacks.
- 30:26Speaker 5: I don't just count.
- 30:27Speaker 10: I mean it's a league full of backup I mean
- 30:31Speaker 10: play of every other week.
- 30:33Speaker 4: But Austin, it's not that it's it's no I understand
- 30:38Speaker 4: what he's saying. It's not that the win isn't important
- 30:40Speaker 4: or isn't as good. It's if you're analyzing certain parts
- 30:45Speaker 4: of your team, such as your defense, and you're playing
- 30:48Speaker 4: against a guy who really can't complete passes. You have
- 30:52Speaker 4: to take that into consideration. You have to take that,
- 30:55Speaker 4: you have to take the context of the game into consideration.
- 30:59Speaker 4: It's not like you're not excited about the win. Absolutely,
- 31:03Speaker 4: I take a win against I don't know any backup
- 31:06Speaker 4: quarterback right now, Austin.
- 31:11Speaker 5: I'm just saying, if you're.
- 31:13Speaker 4: The problem is last year you weren't even winning those games.
- 31:17Speaker 5: Exactly what I'm trying to say is people seem to
- 31:21Speaker 5: have gotten caught off guard by by how far they've fallen,
- 31:24Speaker 5: and I don't think they been paying attention, right, And
- 31:27Speaker 5: the wins that they've gotten over the last two years
- 31:31Speaker 5: have so often come in those kinds of situations. The
- 31:34Speaker 5: few wins that they've gotten, Like, if you go thirteen
- 31:37Speaker 5: and four, well, that's I mean, that's a great record.
- 31:41Speaker 5: So yeah, maybe you won three or four against backup quarterback.
- 31:44Speaker 5: You went thirteen and four. They went four and thirteen, right,
- 31:48Speaker 5: and played all those games against backup quarterback.
- 31:51Speaker 4: And the subject of backup quarterbacks comes in the context
- 31:54Speaker 4: of trying to evaluate how good was the defense in
- 31:59Speaker 4: twenty twenty three, and so you have to take into
- 32:02Speaker 4: consideration the opponent, you know, were their injuries on their offense.
- 32:06Speaker 4: That's only fair if you're going to get an accurate
- 32:09Speaker 4: idea of how good your defense was.
- 32:11Speaker 5: Like, I'm not stunned that the defense has played the
- 32:14Speaker 5: way it's played. I'm a little surprised that it's been
- 32:17Speaker 5: so bad against the run. Yeah, but in terms of points,
- 32:20Speaker 5: I am not like you guys know, like I think
- 32:23Speaker 5: when they've played good offense is over the last two
- 32:26Speaker 5: three years. This is what's happened points wise, not rushing
- 32:30Speaker 5: yards wise. I don't want to upset Bill Belichick will
- 32:32Speaker 5: get very mad at me.
- 32:33Speaker 4: Yeah, because he'll feel really bad.
- 32:35Speaker 5: Right, he feels bad. I know he's got a lot
- 32:36Speaker 5: of yards per rush. It's a lot of empathy. Well,
- 32:39Speaker 5: it depends. It's yards per rush last year, this year,
- 32:44Speaker 5: it's yards per game. Because you have to pick the
- 32:48Speaker 5: stat that makes him look the best. You know, like
- 32:50Speaker 5: last year they finished first and average yards allowed per
- 32:53Speaker 5: carry in twenty twenty three, so that's what you go by.
- 32:57Speaker 5: This year, the Patriots currently ranked seventeenth in that category.
- 33:00Speaker 5: So we're not going to talk about that. We're going
- 33:02Speaker 5: to go with tied for twenty first in yards per
- 33:06Speaker 5: game extra four spots correct in the twenty somewhere.
- 33:09Speaker 6: Yeah, bottom third of the least.
- 33:11Speaker 4: So it's not it's not a matter of diminishing the wins.
- 33:15Speaker 4: It's a matter of objectively looking at the different facets
- 33:20Speaker 4: of the team and saying, you know, how.
- 33:24Speaker 5: How the wins were compiled?
- 33:25Speaker 4: Yeah, or losses. You know, in this case, you know
- 33:30Speaker 4: you were giving up ten points and losing the game so.
- 33:33Speaker 5: Well, but you can also it can also work the
- 33:35Speaker 5: other way. You can also lose the game because the
- 33:38Speaker 5: other team was fully healthy and you were decimated right
- 33:41Speaker 5: in a game that quote unquote you might have won
- 33:44Speaker 5: had you had some of your personnel. Yeah, you know,
- 33:46Speaker 5: that's happened.
- 33:47Speaker 4: Certain super bowls come to mind.
- 33:49Speaker 5: Let's go to that's a great example, the Gronk super Bowl.
- 33:52Speaker 5: I assume you're talking about it.
- 33:54Speaker 4: I'm talking about Malcolm Butler.
- 33:55Speaker 5: Oh, that wasn't an injury.
- 33:57Speaker 4: No, I know, but he wasn't a vailable But I think.
- 33:59Speaker 5: That you can make a strong argument. It's not like
- 34:03Speaker 5: black and white, but you can make a strong argument
- 34:04Speaker 5: the second Giants loss if Gronk is healthy.
- 34:07Speaker 4: Is healthy and not just you can I mean, yeah,
- 34:09Speaker 4: he wasn't even a decoy because they It's the same thing.
- 34:12Speaker 4: I know it is.
- 34:13Speaker 5: Of course, it is context, and we.
- 34:16Speaker 4: Talk about that all the time when evaluating football. There's
- 34:19Speaker 4: so much going on throughout the game and throughout each
- 34:22Speaker 4: play that you know, just to go on the game
- 34:25Speaker 4: log and look at the stats is not fair. It
- 34:28Speaker 4: doesn't tell you the whole picture. You know, garbage time
- 34:32Speaker 4: stats and and all that stuff come into play, whether
- 34:35Speaker 4: you had a lead, whether you didn't have a lead. Yeah,
- 34:39Speaker 4: football is a complicated game. When it got hert evaluation.
- 34:43Speaker 6: Who got hurt in the middle of the game and
- 34:44Speaker 6: was swapped out?
- 34:45Speaker 5: You know, complicated man.
- 34:47Speaker 6: So we watched the game.
- 34:49Speaker 4: Carlton's in Dallas. What's up, Carlton?
- 34:52Speaker 10: Good afternoon, guys, good afternoon.
- 34:54Speaker 5: Hey, Hey, real quick.
- 34:58Speaker 10: Awesome job confuses that's with Josh Show. Michael Hasey got
- 35:03Speaker 10: five targets last week. He caught every all five averaged
- 35:07Speaker 10: almost ten yards around nine and a quarter nine point
- 35:10Speaker 10: five yards per catch. We the coaching staff a VP
- 35:15Speaker 10: and Andrew Riard said in Trandy Camp we were going
- 35:19Speaker 10: to be the number one screen team in the league.
- 35:22Speaker 10: But yet that play has been not used effectively. But
- 35:26Speaker 10: it seemed to go pretty well last week. I think
- 35:29Speaker 10: I wouldn't know what y'all think. Should Hasty be getting
- 35:32Speaker 10: more touches?
- 35:33Speaker 5: Okay more than five?
- 35:35Speaker 4: It's a good question.
- 35:36Speaker 5: I mean, that's I would. I would agree with Carlton's assessment.
- 35:39Speaker 5: I think last week was the first week that they
- 35:41Speaker 5: had some success in the screen game.
- 35:43Speaker 4: But five grows to a running back is a lot.
- 35:46Speaker 6: Yeah, No, I like it. I mean, I think, you know,
- 35:48Speaker 6: Antony Gibson has a productive the last couple of weeks,
- 35:51Speaker 6: and Romander is dealing with whatever Romander's even dealing with.
- 35:54Speaker 6: So it seems like they've.
- 35:55Speaker 5: Yeah, and I agree with I mean, I don't know
- 35:57Speaker 5: if he's talking specifically, should Hasty get more touches or
- 36:00Speaker 5: should they run those plays more? But they've struggled with
- 36:04Speaker 5: those I agree with his assessment. They they've they've run screens,
- 36:08Speaker 5: and I do remember when when Van Pelt said that
- 36:11Speaker 5: what we want to be the best screen team in
- 36:12Speaker 5: the league. They haven't been able to get it going
- 36:15Speaker 5: last week, you know, and they weren't necessarily all traditional screens.
- 36:19Speaker 5: Like the touchdown probably wasn't a screen per se.
- 36:22Speaker 4: No, he was out in the flood.
- 36:23Speaker 5: It's a hot run. It's a hot run, hot right
- 36:25Speaker 5: route ut And you know that's to me a screen,
- 36:30Speaker 5: Like we know that he's going to leak out right
- 36:32Speaker 5: over here, you know, scat protection.
- 36:35Speaker 6: Yeah, is that what you call?
- 36:36Speaker 5: You know what that means?
- 36:37Speaker 4: Right?
- 36:38Speaker 5: No, that's when the back is going out scat scat ye.
- 36:41Speaker 5: So you know that they're sending more than you have
- 36:43Speaker 5: to get it. Basically, you know who taught me that
- 36:46Speaker 5: who's that Bruce Armstrong scam and scat protect.
- 36:50Speaker 4: Scam and scat protections all right.
- 36:53Speaker 5: I couldn't tell you over there, no, because I don't.
- 36:57Speaker 5: I'm sure that there's like a really really specific well
- 37:01Speaker 5: only in this detail that I don't remember because that's
- 37:05Speaker 5: me just enough to get it wrong.
- 37:07Speaker 4: Well, scat protection is only when you do strong side.
- 37:13Speaker 4: Anthony's in Seattle?
- 37:14Speaker 5: What's up Anthony Football Almanac over here?
- 37:17Speaker 12: Hey?
- 37:19Speaker 4: Hey?
- 37:20Speaker 5: Where you've been? Man?
- 37:21Speaker 12: Yeah, I've emailed a couple of times.
- 37:24Speaker 13: They didn't get read, but you listen to every every episode.
- 37:27Speaker 13: Love you guys, and uh and Evan. I don't know
- 37:30Speaker 13: if Evan's there, but I've been listening to Catch twenty
- 37:32Speaker 13: two also, and that's the first time that there's been
- 37:35Speaker 13: a podcast other than TU that I found worth listening
- 37:38Speaker 13: to this. I'm sorry, yeah listen, Uh looking man.
- 37:44Speaker 12: One thing I love about you is you keep us rounded.
- 37:46Speaker 12: You don't get too high, it don't get too low.
- 37:48Speaker 12: But I want to push back a little bit. And
- 37:50Speaker 12: you don't mean to do this. But every time someone
- 37:53Speaker 12: kind of says, oh we got a quarterback, you're you know,
- 37:55Speaker 12: I hope, so we're pumped the breaks there. Listen, Patrious Nation,
- 37:59Speaker 12: I do. We don't need to pump the break. We
- 38:01Speaker 12: got a quarterback. It's not just two games. Yes, it
- 38:04Speaker 12: is the new rule of thumb in this league. Listen,
- 38:07Speaker 12: is you know what when you see it. I don't
- 38:09Speaker 12: know if they've gotten better at, you know, in college
- 38:11Speaker 12: at developing or the league's gotten better at not reaching
- 38:13Speaker 12: and when they get them in the building they develop.
- 38:16Speaker 12: But it's been a constant upward arrow from college to
- 38:19Speaker 12: training camp to preseason. In our regular season, he's dropping
- 38:23Speaker 12: the same bombs in the buckets to boot that that
- 38:25Speaker 12: that he dropped to jay Von Baker that he dropped.
- 38:28Speaker 12: He's got the same off platform, offscript plays to the
- 38:31Speaker 12: Osborne that didn't count, but we saw it that he's
- 38:33Speaker 12: doing now the Hunter Henry and back to back game
- 38:35Speaker 12: like this is the player and it's without training will
- 38:38Speaker 12: So and it's not just Drake may it's it's the
- 38:40Speaker 12: top three Daniels, Williams uh like like the overal of
- 38:45Speaker 12: thumb is probably one of those three are going to
- 38:46Speaker 12: work out. I think the new rule of thumb, and
- 38:48Speaker 12: it's not just quarterback, is with these young players. If
- 38:51Speaker 12: they look right away like they can play. Most likely
- 38:54Speaker 12: they can play. There's always the exceptions. I don't want
- 38:56Speaker 12: to go on a super long NT. I love you, guys.
- 38:58Speaker 12: I've been listening to every episode, so I've been with
- 39:00Speaker 12: you in spirit. I'm gonna try to get back on
- 39:02Speaker 12: the calling in a little bit more often.
- 39:03Speaker 4: All right, thanks, thanks Anthony, good job good that was Chester, Like, yeah,
- 39:07Speaker 4: I lift up. You know, Parcels said, if they don't
- 39:11Speaker 4: bite when they're puppies, they won't bite when their dogs.
- 39:13Speaker 5: I could give you an I could give you a
- 39:16Speaker 5: laundry list of guys who bid as puppies, and no,
- 39:18Speaker 5: I know went the other way, starting with your guy.
- 39:22Speaker 5: Let Baker bake why he's doing well. He was great
- 39:25Speaker 5: as a rookie and then five years later he was
- 39:28Speaker 5: out of the league and just kind of resurrecting his
- 39:30Speaker 5: career now throwing interceptions.
- 39:33Speaker 4: I blamed the team, by the way I blame the teams.
- 39:36Speaker 5: What what what? What is our team? That's my point?
- 39:40Speaker 4: Okay, but but we're just talking about Drake.
- 39:42Speaker 5: I know. I did get back to our original conversation.
- 39:45Speaker 5: We used to make fun of these teams. I know, yes,
- 39:48Speaker 5: I know now we're one of them. I know, But
- 39:50Speaker 5: like do we have the support system in place?
- 39:53Speaker 4: Listen, I I when.
- 39:54Speaker 5: These guys all come into the league with the requisite talents.
- 39:56Speaker 4: When when Mack was here first year, he didn't look
- 39:59Speaker 4: like Drake. I will say that Mac was not the
- 40:02Speaker 4: top but five pick at that time. I said, I'm
- 40:05Speaker 4: very pleased that my words, I'm very pleased that Mac
- 40:08Speaker 4: Jones is our quarterback. And you know, how did that
- 40:11Speaker 4: work out for me?
- 40:13Speaker 5: So no, what I what I would just say is like,
- 40:16Speaker 5: and I'm going to be very fair, I'm going to
- 40:17Speaker 5: take Drake May out of this. I'm not convinced that
- 40:19Speaker 5: Caleb Williams and Jaden Daniels either, Like they've played seven games, Like,
- 40:24Speaker 5: I don't just write a career like if if they
- 40:27Speaker 5: had bad games, I wouldn't say they stink. You know,
- 40:31Speaker 5: c J. Stroud now is going on a year and
- 40:33Speaker 5: a half of a high level of play. I'm ready
- 40:37Speaker 5: to say c J. Stroud is the real deal, Like
- 40:40Speaker 5: he's playing at an exceptionally high level for an extended
- 40:44Speaker 5: period of time. But I don't know. If you're Caleb Williams,
- 40:48Speaker 5: he's been pretty seems like he's on the upward tra directory.
- 40:51Speaker 5: I mean, I'm a believer in the talent, and I
- 40:54Speaker 5: really like Caleb Williams. But are you for sure are
- 40:57Speaker 5: you convinced that Caleb Williams is a hit?
- 41:00Speaker 6: No, not yet, but I mean I would say, just
- 41:02Speaker 6: to push back to I mean, it hasn't been a
- 41:04Speaker 6: straight trajectory for Drake. I mean, I think there was
- 41:05Speaker 6: a period in the summer during training camp where you're
- 41:07Speaker 6: kind of like, it feels like he's stagnated a little bit,
- 41:10Speaker 6: you know, in that little period, and then you know,
- 41:12Speaker 6: the last couple of weeks have been have been really good.
- 41:14Speaker 5: But you know, I optimist, but they're still not scoring
- 41:17Speaker 5: and moving the ball, like they haven't even gotten three
- 41:20Speaker 5: hundred yards of offense. But they will, They absolutely will.
- 41:24Speaker 5: I'm a believe even were in the talent. That's why
- 41:26Speaker 5: I say, I hope so, I think so, but I
- 41:30Speaker 5: want to see it first.
- 41:31Speaker 6: Right, Well, well, you don't want to annoy them before
- 41:33Speaker 6: exactly you do it after two games and you're in
- 41:34Speaker 6: the crowd. Crowd, it takes I mean, it's it takes
- 41:38Speaker 6: some of the fun out of it. You know that
- 41:40Speaker 6: those games when he does have games that make you
- 41:42Speaker 6: really But I said yesterday, Paul, I think you were
- 41:44Speaker 6: you were out shooting. One of your shows was I'm
- 41:46Speaker 6: kind of ready for the bad May game, as it's
- 41:48Speaker 6: gonna be a bad May game, right, Like that's it's
- 41:50Speaker 6: just it's gonna happen. I feel like it's gonna have one.
- 41:52Speaker 5: Can we not have that couple of others? If we
- 41:56Speaker 5: get a bad May game? Like, what else do we have?
- 41:58Speaker 7: No?
- 41:59Speaker 6: I know it would be pretty bleak.
- 42:00Speaker 4: If Brad's in Ohio? What's up? Brad?
- 42:05Speaker 14: A good morning guy. So anyway, just have a couple
- 42:12Speaker 14: observations about our team internally that I want to let
- 42:15Speaker 14: let you know about Brad from Ohio. But I'm a
- 42:18Speaker 14: Michigan fan, so I've watched a lot of them. Michael
- 42:23Speaker 14: and when you and Michael Jordan's.
- 42:27Speaker 15: And Michael jordan Is will never be a run blocker,
- 42:32Speaker 15: I mean never has been, not even in college. And
- 42:35Speaker 15: Michael Jordan's and when he's a great player. The only
- 42:40Speaker 15: problem he had played the best was Ben Bretison. I
- 42:45Speaker 15: think he played with.
- 42:47Speaker 16: Yeah, ye, inconsistent like you know at times and stuff.
- 42:55Speaker 16: And I believe he even got benched at times for
- 42:57Speaker 16: it at Michigan.
- 42:59Speaker 4: I know. But how many years is he out of college?
- 43:01Speaker 5: This is his fifth year, fifth.
- 43:03Speaker 4: Year, so right, eight days off.
- 43:06Speaker 15: I mean, you know, that was one of the new
- 43:09Speaker 15: things they noticed when they when he played at Michigan.
- 43:12Speaker 15: But I'm hoping that, you know, that we can get
- 43:17Speaker 15: Javon Baker into the mix and have a little empathies
- 43:22Speaker 15: for Jared Mayow. The fans are like really hard on him,
- 43:27Speaker 15: and you know, the guy look at have empathy for him.
- 43:30Speaker 15: How how would someone else feel if they were put
- 43:32Speaker 15: in the same circumstance. I mean, you know, are they
- 43:36Speaker 15: going to do better than.
- 43:37Speaker 10: What he has?
- 43:38Speaker 4: Well, you know, I don't know, but I hear what
- 43:40Speaker 4: you're saying, Like I'd say, rather than empathy, just a
- 43:44Speaker 4: little patience. Yes, he's he's not as smooth as you'd
- 43:48Speaker 4: like him to be messaging wise, but we don't know
- 43:52Speaker 4: how what he's doing in the locker room, and it
- 43:55Speaker 4: doesn't seem like he's lost the locker room where guys
- 43:59Speaker 4: you know, I think I think they're still with him.
- 44:02Speaker 4: Uh So, so let's see how they respond, you know,
- 44:05Speaker 4: whether or not they win this game, Let's see how
- 44:07Speaker 4: they play.
- 44:08Speaker 5: That's you know, that's I think that that's more more
- 44:11Speaker 5: important really than anything, is right, Do they change the
- 44:15Speaker 5: way they've looked.
- 44:16Speaker 6: Right, some fight.
- 44:18Speaker 4: Yeah, Alex is in Virginia. What's up, Alex?
- 44:21Speaker 11: Hey guys, Hey time, long time.
- 44:26Speaker 17: First of all, I love you guys, listen to you
- 44:27Speaker 17: guys all the time.
- 44:28Speaker 16: Really appreciate what you guys.
- 44:29Speaker 4: Yeah, thank you.
- 44:31Speaker 11: I wanted to rub the value that I've been looking
- 44:33Speaker 11: at the past two weeks.
- 44:35Speaker 17: I've noticed Wise's comments.
- 44:36Speaker 11: About preparation in particular, and just this past week Godchaw
- 44:41Speaker 11: joined him on that train and in his conference was
- 44:44Speaker 11: talking about preparation being an issue. I'm not on the
- 44:47Speaker 11: fire drive train, but it is something I'm looking at.
- 44:49Speaker 11: I'm just curious if you guys have seen that. What
- 44:51Speaker 11: do you guys think of that?
- 44:53Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean Dietrich Wise mentioned it.
- 44:56Speaker 5: Yeah, preparation thing was yeap was a red flag?
- 44:59Speaker 4: Thanks Alex. I mean, let's face it, it's something you
- 45:01Speaker 4: never had to worry about for the last twenty years.
- 45:03Speaker 5: But then I want to be fair to the preparation
- 45:06Speaker 5: in this past game obviously was good. Yeah, because the
- 45:09Speaker 5: first quarter was arguably the best quarter of football they've
- 45:11Speaker 5: played all year. Right, they came out, they went right
- 45:14Speaker 5: down the field.
- 45:15Speaker 4: And scored, made us stop.
- 45:16Speaker 5: They stopped I think they gave up one first down
- 45:18Speaker 5: and then got a stop and they went right down
- 45:20Speaker 5: the field to kicked a field goal. Yep, that's the
- 45:22Speaker 5: first quarter. That Now you're into the second quarter now
- 45:25Speaker 5: and then just.
- 45:26Speaker 6: Black them all. Now you're ready to play, but you
- 45:28Speaker 6: can't sustain it.
- 45:30Speaker 5: Maybe they hurt some of that. You know, we got
- 45:32Speaker 5: to come up with a better game plan. We got
- 45:33Speaker 5: to try some different things. Whatever they tried this week.
- 45:36Speaker 5: And you know Van Pell talked about it, you know,
- 45:38Speaker 5: an hour ago, he was really happy. Maybe it's like
- 45:41Speaker 5: just scored a touchdown. Maybe it's less about.
- 45:43Speaker 4: The preparation and more about what happens when you get
- 45:45Speaker 4: hit in the mouth. You know, how do you adjust,
- 45:49Speaker 4: you know.
- 45:49Speaker 6: Back to our soft come Yeah, yeah, right, I mean
- 45:52Speaker 6: and that's you know that I mean, And that's just
- 45:54Speaker 6: in game, especially when it was happening over and over
- 45:57Speaker 6: and over and over again. You know, that was where
- 45:59Speaker 6: you were hoping you would see at some point because
- 46:01Speaker 6: even some of these bad Patriots defenses, I'd feel like
- 46:04Speaker 6: they'd always kind of find a way near the end.
- 46:06Speaker 6: Maybe they'll force a couple punts and you know, like
- 46:08Speaker 6: give you a chance. The offense has never been able
- 46:10Speaker 6: to take advantage of it.
- 46:11Speaker 5: But there's a reason why it's so hard when the
- 46:14Speaker 5: other team. When a team lines up and he's trying
- 46:17Speaker 5: to run the clock out and they just line up
- 46:20Speaker 5: and run the ball, there's a reason why that's so hard. Yeah,
- 46:22Speaker 5: because if the other team knows that you're running the ball,
- 46:25Speaker 5: in general terms, they're gonna stop you if they if
- 46:28Speaker 5: they want to, you know, if there's a desperation to
- 46:31Speaker 5: get the ball back. You usually see the team stop
- 46:35Speaker 5: the other team and force the punt to force them
- 46:37Speaker 5: to do something different. But that's why so many times
- 46:40Speaker 5: you see Patrick Mahomes making a play on those third downs,
- 46:44Speaker 5: or Josh Allen, you know, keeping it himself, because if
- 46:47Speaker 5: we just runned between the tackles, ninety nine percent of
- 46:50Speaker 5: the time, the other team's gonna figure out how to
- 46:51Speaker 5: stop it three times before they get ten yards. And
- 46:55Speaker 5: the other day the Patriots couldn't stop it even then,
- 46:58Speaker 5: Like you get down inside the five yard and the
- 47:00Speaker 5: Patriots stopped it even after giving up seventeen straight runs.
- 47:03Speaker 5: That's it's generally really hard to do that.
- 47:06Speaker 4: Devin and Belleville, Canada, Rit sin Uh, do you guys
- 47:10Speaker 4: think we're gonna see the trend of Booty coming down
- 47:13Speaker 4: with a big catch continue. I believe it's three straight
- 47:16Speaker 4: weeks he's come down with a fairly big play And
- 47:19Speaker 4: wanted to know if you guys think that's just because
- 47:21Speaker 4: there are no bodies a wide receiver or could he
- 47:23Speaker 4: be someone that could be a vibe option in the
- 47:26Speaker 4: past game, maybe a number three or four wide receiver.
- 47:29Speaker 4: His first few games last year, I thought he made
- 47:31Speaker 4: some nice plays, but seemed to have issues getting both
- 47:34Speaker 4: feet down, similar to Poke, and I ended up losing
- 47:37Speaker 4: and ended up losing his playing time.
- 47:40Speaker 6: I just, I mean, I'm fine with a couple of
- 47:41Speaker 6: big plays here and there. I just I just want
- 47:43Speaker 6: a little more consistency out of him and find him
- 47:45Speaker 6: a little bit more on the intermediate routes. You know,
- 47:47Speaker 6: It's just it's nice to have Drake hit him on
- 47:50Speaker 6: a bomb once a game, but you're hoping it could
- 47:53Speaker 6: be more consistent. I mean, you give credit to Booty though,
- 47:56Speaker 6: I mean, I thought he was kind of an afterthought
- 47:58Speaker 6: this summer, but everybody's crediting him with how much hard
- 48:01Speaker 6: work he's put in. And you know, other than Douglas,
- 48:03Speaker 6: he's the only real receiver right now who has really
- 48:05Speaker 6: flashed and that's something they're desperate for. So if he
- 48:09Speaker 6: continues to earn the trust and he can develop more,
- 48:11Speaker 6: I think I think it's great.
- 48:11Speaker 5: I don't.
- 48:12Speaker 6: I don't know. I just I still am not to.
- 48:13Speaker 5: Me is the bigger thing with Booty is what you said,
- 48:15Speaker 5: like Van Pelt, this is twice in about three or
- 48:17Speaker 5: four weeks that he talked about how out of know
- 48:20Speaker 5: where he came because he wasn't doing anything. Yeah, and
- 48:23Speaker 5: he changed, and Van Pelt said he changed his practice habits,
- 48:27Speaker 5: his work habits. So this was a Booty problem, not
- 48:30Speaker 5: a Patriots problem last year. Yeah, you obviously wasn't doing
- 48:34Speaker 5: what he needed to do, and he wasn't doing what
- 48:35Speaker 5: he needed to do this summer, this spring and summer.
- 48:38Speaker 5: So when Mike says I thought he was an afterthought,
- 48:41Speaker 5: I don't think Mike was wrong.
- 48:42Speaker 4: Well, I think it's from his from Booty's comments, he changed.
- 48:45Speaker 4: I read into it that he was kind of sulking
- 48:48Speaker 4: last year, like he got kind of pushed to the
- 48:51Speaker 4: side and then was sulking it didn't instead of taking
- 48:54Speaker 4: that and working harder to get back on the field
- 48:56Speaker 4: to get more.
- 48:57Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm more concerned about the way he was thought
- 49:00Speaker 5: of this year, this spring and summer, and all of
- 49:03Speaker 5: a sudden they said there was a change in him
- 49:06Speaker 5: where he was working harder, and he was studying more
- 49:10Speaker 5: and was.
- 49:11Speaker 6: Sharp answers for everything in the film room.
- 49:14Speaker 5: I think he earned his playing time. Maybe it just clicked.
- 49:17Speaker 5: I yes, yeah, Now to Mike's point, it's clicked, like
- 49:23Speaker 5: I don't think that it's clicking to like two catches
- 49:26Speaker 5: a game like that's not that's not enough.
- 49:28Speaker 6: No, And that's why I still I think I revert
- 49:31Speaker 6: back to what my general impression of him has been
- 49:33Speaker 6: of it's nice, but I'm I'll be surprised if he
- 49:36Speaker 6: continues to kind of do this and becomes a frequent
- 49:39Speaker 6: catch guy on the offense. You know, I just be more.
- 49:42Speaker 5: I just look like a guy who at least can
- 49:44Speaker 5: win a one on one, Like he beats Man. You know,
- 49:47Speaker 5: in both both of those big plays the last two weeks,
- 49:49Speaker 5: he's beaten man coverage and they don't have a lot
- 49:51Speaker 5: of those guys.
- 49:51Speaker 4: Yeah. Brandon, Brandon and Las Vegas via Lexington Mass first off,
- 49:59Speaker 4: wanted to say that I've been very impressed with how
- 50:01Speaker 4: Fred has handled the changing of both the email and
- 50:04Speaker 4: houtline names. Besides a couple slips up, it's been a
- 50:07Speaker 4: seamless transition. My question is, how do you think Bill's
- 50:11Speaker 4: comments about the Patriots now that he's in the media
- 50:14Speaker 4: will impact his ability to get a job next offseason.
- 50:17Speaker 4: I don't think teams will look kindly on how he's
- 50:20Speaker 4: handled being rejected, seeing as he couldn't get a job
- 50:23Speaker 4: this passed offseason. I can't imagine his conduct as a
- 50:27Speaker 4: part of the media contingent will help him in this
- 50:30Speaker 4: coming off season.
- 50:31Speaker 5: I think this is a great question. What do you
- 50:33Speaker 5: guys think. I'm curious what you.
- 50:35Speaker 6: I don't think it'll affect any I don't think it
- 50:37Speaker 6: will affect anything either. I think you if you're gonna
- 50:39Speaker 6: sign up for Bill Belichick, you're gonna get well. I
- 50:42Speaker 6: think you're already aware. If you're gonna sign up for
- 50:44Speaker 6: that experience, you're gonna get some things you probably don't like.
- 50:47Speaker 6: And this may this might reflect on some of those
- 50:48Speaker 6: things team might not like. But I just think if
- 50:51Speaker 6: you're gonna make that move, it's because you want Bill Belichick, good, bad,
- 50:55Speaker 6: ugly everything that comes with him to kind of change
- 50:57Speaker 6: the narrative around your team.
- 50:58Speaker 5: So you're okay that he coaches your team for two
- 51:01Speaker 5: years and then on the third year, when he's no
- 51:03Speaker 5: longer coaching you, he's just gonna destroy you. Like if
- 51:06Speaker 5: I were Jerry Jones, I wouldn't even contemplate hiring him
- 51:10Speaker 5: because you know all the skeletons And I heard, you know,
- 51:13Speaker 5: you talk about my shows. I heard Fred talking about
- 51:15Speaker 5: this the other day, Fred Toucher, And if I were
- 51:20Speaker 5: Jerry Jones, well, the skeletons he probably has in his closet.
- 51:23Speaker 5: You want Bill Belichick on his seventeen platforms talking about
- 51:26Speaker 5: you in two years.
- 51:27Speaker 4: You know the way these teams think though, well, we
- 51:29Speaker 4: won't have that type of breakup with them. You know
- 51:31Speaker 4: they all think that way. That's crazy, I know, but
- 51:35Speaker 4: I don't think. I think more so like.
- 51:38Speaker 5: You think that what do you think would be a
- 51:39Speaker 5: worst breakup? Twenty five years of dominance and then your
- 51:42Speaker 5: part ways or two years and it didn't work in
- 51:45Speaker 5: your part ways?
- 51:45Speaker 4: I know, but I think that more so, what if
- 51:48Speaker 4: anything hurts him, it'll be that people are afraid that
- 51:52Speaker 4: if we bring him in, it's going to fire everybody,
- 51:55Speaker 4: you know, like the that's from what it's reported that's
- 51:58Speaker 4: what kept them from being the Falcons head coach.
- 52:01Speaker 5: I mean, that could happen. You know, that could happen.
- 52:03Speaker 5: But I was really taken aback and I remained surprised
- 52:07Speaker 5: by it that there was just no real interest in him.
- 52:10Speaker 5: And I just wonder, you know, I wonder how much
- 52:14Speaker 5: interest there is in him.
- 52:16Speaker 6: I wonder too. I mean, and I like, I just
- 52:18Speaker 6: think before he got on all these TV shows, if
- 52:20Speaker 6: you listen to what we're said on the way out here,
- 52:22Speaker 6: like you knew it wasn't going great. You knew that
- 52:25Speaker 6: it was a struggle to kind of keep this thing together.
- 52:27Speaker 6: You knew he's tough to deal with, that he wants
- 52:29Speaker 6: to run things the way that he's going to do it.
- 52:31Speaker 6: And I mean, and even you know, I knew back
- 52:33Speaker 6: in nine when I watched that that documentary they did
- 52:35Speaker 6: where it's like, man, this is uncomfortable watching him talk
- 52:38Speaker 6: to the owner, Like I like, this is weird, Like
- 52:40Speaker 6: this is not what I expected. That was the first
- 52:42Speaker 6: time I'd ever seen some of those interactions highlighted. So
- 52:45Speaker 6: I just I just think these guys are greedy. He's
- 52:47Speaker 6: a name, and you're a great attentive, attentive that was
- 52:51Speaker 6: the word that comes to mind. But these guys, these
- 52:53Speaker 6: owners are all they're they're greedy. They they don't care.
- 52:56Speaker 6: They think they can deal with the bad stuff. And
- 52:59Speaker 6: I won't be that bad. And everyone's going to be talking.
- 53:01Speaker 6: We've got the greatest coach of all the time, and
- 53:04Speaker 6: they're whistling past the graveyard. We know, before he started
- 53:06Speaker 6: criticizing his former team, you knew that it's gonna that
- 53:09Speaker 6: there's gonna be some warts. But you know they probably
- 53:11Speaker 6: are gonna think, well, if we just mak him the coach.
- 53:13Speaker 5: We're not gonna have control.
- 53:15Speaker 6: You guys are probably not gonna have control over being
- 53:17Speaker 6: the GM, and you know the personnel's out of his hand.
- 53:19Speaker 6: That was a big problem. You know, they'll convince themselves
- 53:22Speaker 6: just so that they can, you know, be the head story.
- 53:24Speaker 4: All right, take a break, come back, emails calls them,

- 54:57Speaker 19: now it's next for residential delivery only.
- 55:01Speaker 20: Morning morning, you know, Like I always tell you guys,
- 55:05Speaker 20: I always take this opportunity to speak with you guys,
- 55:08Speaker 20: and really with the understanding that I'm talking to the players,
- 55:11Speaker 20: all right, talking to the players. Obviously there are things
- 55:13Speaker 20: where I'm talking to the fans as well, But you know,
- 55:16Speaker 20: the message for those guys, like, it's all about the
- 55:18Speaker 20: Jets and we're moving forward.
- 55:19Speaker 5: You know.
- 55:19Speaker 20: Obviously there's a lot of noise out there, and I say,
- 55:22Speaker 20: you know, we are what our record is, and we
- 55:24Speaker 20: have to get better, and that ultimately is my responsibility.
- 55:27Speaker 20: And look, I take all the blame. It's fine, and
- 55:31Speaker 20: it's moving on to the Jets.
- 55:33Speaker 21: That said, your message to the guys, what kind of
- 55:36Speaker 21: responsibility do you feel you need to take this week
- 55:39Speaker 21: with this team because of where they're at and all
- 55:41Speaker 21: this noises kind.
- 55:42Speaker 20: Of around the world, just continue. It uses as an
- 55:44Speaker 20: opportunity to get closer as a unit. You know, it's
- 55:46Speaker 20: not the first time that any of those men in
- 55:48Speaker 20: there have had to deal with diversity, myself included. It's
- 55:50Speaker 20: the time for us to get closer. While you know,
- 55:53Speaker 20: everything around you gets louder and hopefully we go out
- 55:55Speaker 20: there and get a victory.
- 56:01Speaker 11: Is it harder for you to talk to your team
- 56:02Speaker 11: now than it was started a season or after the
- 56:05Speaker 11: Bengals game?
- 56:06Speaker 4: Not at all.
- 56:06Speaker 20: And I said, look, during a time of piece, I
- 56:08Speaker 20: always tell those guys like, remember what we say on
- 56:10Speaker 20: day one when we get to day one hundred, and
- 56:13Speaker 20: you know, I think consistency, especially leadership role, is definitely important.
- 56:17Speaker 20: And for me, you know, we get to Wednesday at
- 56:20Speaker 20: this point in time, We've always changed the page, win loser, draw,
- 56:23Speaker 20: and that's always been my mindset, and that's my the thing.
- 56:26Speaker 5: Coach Jackson, who's.
- 56:27Speaker 22: Always been a vote leader on this team, both as
- 56:28Speaker 22: a player and as a coach. For broadcast, seems like
- 56:31Speaker 22: really more earthly standing on the sidelines. Is there any
- 56:33Speaker 22: thought to me like engaging more with the players. I
- 56:35Speaker 22: know everyone's got different styles, but in two of your.
- 56:37Speaker 20: Approach, I do engage with the players, are engaged with
- 56:39Speaker 20: the defense. And I would say I also have a
- 56:41Speaker 20: headset where I'm flipping through channels talking to the coordinators.
- 56:44Speaker 20: There have been times where I brought those guys up,
- 56:46Speaker 20: and there have been times where I've let the coordinators
- 56:48Speaker 20: or position coach do their thing, even though we've talked
- 56:50Speaker 20: about it on the headset.
- 56:51Speaker 4: So is there any.
- 56:53Speaker 5: Consideration when you're taking more ownership of the defense?
- 56:56Speaker 20: DeMarcus is our defensive coordinator. Look, I have ownership of
- 56:59Speaker 20: the defense, the offense, and special teams. That's how I
- 57:01Speaker 20: look at it. You know those guys are coordinators. But
- 57:03Speaker 20: once again, ultimately it's it falls on me.
- 57:06Speaker 5: Did you say anything more to the guys.
- 57:09Speaker 2: In light of your comments on Sunday that they were
- 57:10Speaker 2: playing software?
- 57:11Speaker 4: Now?
- 57:11Speaker 20: No, Look, we're onto the Jets today. If we've had
- 57:15Speaker 20: those conversations, I've always looked at that as an opportunity
- 57:18Speaker 20: to go out there and prove everyone wrong.
- 57:19Speaker 5: That's how.
- 57:20Speaker 20: And once again, going back to a chip on your shoulder,
- 57:23Speaker 20: We've all had those chips on our shoulders that have
- 57:25Speaker 20: gotten us through and so this is no different. Obviously,
- 57:28Speaker 20: once again we are struggling as a team. Our records,
- 57:30Speaker 20: our record is what it is. It's about what we
- 57:32Speaker 20: can do to get better.
- 57:33Speaker 21: What is what's the player reaction been to those comments,
- 57:37Speaker 21: whether it was after the game, right.
- 57:38Speaker 17: Over a radio repus.
- 57:41Speaker 20: Look, after the game, we're all disappointed. On a plane
- 57:43Speaker 20: along plane ride home, we're all disappointed, and again it's
- 57:46Speaker 20: about getting to Wednesday, so we can now focus on
- 57:49Speaker 20: the next target. And uh, the guys have good juice
- 57:51Speaker 20: expecting a good practice and we'll see how it looks
- 57:54Speaker 20: on Sunday.
- 57:55Speaker 21: Would you want a reaction out of them in some ways?
- 57:57Speaker 5: Would you want them to get bad? For instance? Like
- 58:01Speaker 5: are you trying to do that with so much?
- 58:04Speaker 20: I'm just telling you, like when I when I talk
- 58:07Speaker 20: after games, it's about what I see out there on
- 58:09Speaker 20: the field at that current time. In saying that, like,
- 58:13Speaker 20: the guys are preparing like it's any other week and
- 58:15Speaker 20: we're talking about the Jets.
- 58:17Speaker 23: Can't concerned along the message getting for the guys, whether
- 58:22Speaker 23: it be setting in and starting to definitely sort of
- 58:25Speaker 23: now stop the run five or twenty coach yards a game,
- 58:30Speaker 23: seventy plus three plus.
- 58:33Speaker 20: I'm always concerned about our team like that comes with
- 58:36Speaker 20: the responsibility, responsibility of being the head coach. And I
- 58:39Speaker 20: would say if we were sitting here at six and one,
- 58:41Speaker 20: I still would be concerned with a lot of different aspects.
- 58:44Speaker 20: So I look at it the same way.
- 58:46Speaker 2: How different is this challenge Sunday now that they have Devonte.
- 58:49Speaker 20: Atherton games, He's I mean Look, he's a good player, obviously,
- 58:52Speaker 20: has a great rapport with the quarterback, and you know,
- 58:54Speaker 20: another week and second week having him, I expect him
- 58:58Speaker 20: to be more involved, even though he was involved the
- 59:00Speaker 20: first guy going back.
- 59:01Speaker 5: To playing soft comments. I know you said you're not
- 59:03Speaker 5: coaching players to do that.
- 59:05Speaker 21: What are you going to do this week to prevent
- 59:07Speaker 21: that from happening again?
- 59:08Speaker 20: Look, all the guys understand. You know, we've had our conversations.
- 59:11Speaker 20: It's on to the Jets and that's what we're gonna do.
- 59:12Speaker 20: We're just gonna go out there and play good football.
- 59:14Speaker 20: That's what we need to do in all three phases
- 59:16Speaker 20: of the game.
- 59:17Speaker 22: Well that involved any kind of changes on the practice field.
- 59:19Speaker 4: Or the meetings.
- 59:20Speaker 20: We always try to We always tried new things during practice,
- 59:25Speaker 20: even going back to training camp. You always look for
- 59:27Speaker 20: things that get responses from your players. But we're going
- 59:29Speaker 20: to go out there. Wednesday has always been a work
- 59:31Speaker 20: day for us and I expect that to continue today.
- 59:34Speaker 5: Part time stopping the run.
- 59:35Speaker 4: As a defense, what have you seen on film?
- 59:37Speaker 21: Does a defensive guy that you think that you can
- 59:40Speaker 21: change to get it right?
- 59:42Speaker 20: I would say like the last three weeks, you know,
- 59:43Speaker 20: you look at one game, it's the three big runs,
- 59:46Speaker 20: and then you look at this pass game and it's
- 59:48Speaker 20: the four yard, five yard, four yard, six yard, just
- 59:50Speaker 20: the continuous you know, like slow, slow bleed, and you
- 59:55Speaker 20: know we have to do a better job like getting
- 59:57Speaker 20: off blocks and going out there tackling the ball carrier.
- 1:00:00Speaker 20: And again it's a huge opportunity this week to kind
- 1:00:03Speaker 20: of get back on track.
- 1:00:04Speaker 21: Those would you consider you guys still like a two
- 1:00:06Speaker 21: gapping the defense?
- 1:00:09Speaker 20: I would say like if you look over the last
- 1:00:12Speaker 20: I mean, if you go back and watch film over
- 1:00:14Speaker 20: the last five or ten years, there are times when
- 1:00:15Speaker 20: you are in a two gap mentality. But there are
- 1:00:18Speaker 20: also times when you're in a one gap mentality. And
- 1:00:20Speaker 20: that goes back to the game planning.
- 1:00:22Speaker 21: So the reason I'm just wondering if when they're or
- 1:00:25Speaker 21: she's like, if you guys had this past week.
- 1:00:27Speaker 5: Or weeks that I think last three gases.
- 1:00:31Speaker 20: I've got to be five yards and round?
- 1:00:34Speaker 4: Do you have to do?
- 1:00:35Speaker 21: You have to think of what changing like philosophically, what
- 1:00:37Speaker 21: you guys do in order to to adjust because you
- 1:00:40Speaker 21: have that's personnel, when you're missing some players, does that
- 1:00:44Speaker 21: change how you have.
- 1:00:44Speaker 4: To handle things?
- 1:00:45Speaker 20: Look the players that we have in that locker room
- 1:00:48Speaker 20: right now are the players that are capable and have
- 1:00:51Speaker 20: done throughout the season. Uh, done a good job against
- 1:00:54Speaker 20: the run. And once again, it's about just on a
- 1:00:56Speaker 20: down after down after down basis. I tell the players,
- 1:00:59Speaker 20: no matter what, uh, special teams, offense or defense, Like
- 1:01:02Speaker 20: I don't have a crystal ball, I don't know what
- 1:01:04Speaker 20: play it's gonna be, but we just need to be
- 1:01:06Speaker 20: sound on every play.
- 1:01:08Speaker 5: Was he from the run defense in the run game?
- 1:01:10Speaker 3: I'm sorry, maybe why they've been structs.
- 1:01:12Speaker 20: Uh, there are different factors, you know. I wish I
- 1:01:14Speaker 20: could get up here and just tell you it's one thing,
- 1:01:17Speaker 20: it's not. I mean, we need to be a balanced offense.
- 1:01:19Speaker 20: That's what we need to do. And uh here against
- 1:01:21Speaker 20: the Jets, hopefully we get that balance that we need.
- 1:01:24Speaker 5: You always you.
- 1:01:26Speaker 23: Start talking, are you disappointed at all? Bill has becal.
- 1:01:32Speaker 5: And has taken your flight some.
- 1:01:35Speaker 20: Shots this process, Well, like I said, my main focus
- 1:01:39Speaker 20: is the guys inside of this building, not only the players,
- 1:01:41Speaker 20: but also the coaches and the rest of the staff.
- 1:01:43Speaker 20: And look, as soon as we know turn this thing around,
- 1:01:46Speaker 20: then we'll be Okay. It comes down to wins and
- 1:01:50Speaker 20: losses like, that's what it comes down to, and that's
- 1:01:51Speaker 20: what you're ultimately judged by.
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: Also, in the.
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: Growths to the noise, did you feel compelled to talk
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: to the team about social media.
- 1:01:58Speaker 15: Are making me change?
- 1:02:00Speaker 4: You know?
- 1:02:00Speaker 20: For me, it is what it is like. If you're
- 1:02:03Speaker 20: winning games, there'll be noise if you're I mean, we've
- 1:02:05Speaker 20: done this for a long time. It's very it's very cyclical.
- 1:02:07Speaker 20: You know, sometimes narratives are already written. It's about just
- 1:02:09Speaker 20: the different cast of characters. And what I would say is,
- 1:02:12Speaker 20: you know, we know that the only people that can
- 1:02:15Speaker 20: go out there and win football games. It's not the media.
- 1:02:18Speaker 20: It's not it's not your mom calling you telling you
- 1:02:20Speaker 20: to do X, Y and Z, or someone at the
- 1:02:22Speaker 20: grocery store. No, it's about the guys that are in
- 1:02:24Speaker 20: this building.
- 1:02:26Speaker 5: Jo Concussion, he's in the protocol you think.
- 1:02:33Speaker 21: Ja to produced in your opinions, he looked like a
- 1:02:38Speaker 21: guy to you that just needs like a little time away.
- 1:02:41Speaker 20: Yeah, you know, as he goes to the protocol, Well
- 1:02:45Speaker 20: we'll address it at that point. Thanks.
- 1:02:51Speaker 5: And now, great moments in.
- 1:02:55Speaker 4: History. One o'clock on CBS, The one and one Bears
- 1:03:00Speaker 4: are at the oh and two cults.
- 1:03:03Speaker 5: Uh ind by one? Oh tough one? Ah, what's that?
- 1:03:08Speaker 6: What's that really?
- 1:03:09Speaker 17: Though?
- 1:03:09Speaker 5: Fred?
- 1:03:10Speaker 4: Well, they're minus two then plus two.
- 1:03:13Speaker 6: Well there you go, tells you all to know.
- 1:03:15Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 1:03:15Speaker 4: I'm gonna go Cleveland at home. No indies plus one,
- 1:03:18Speaker 4: they get three, so they're minus two.
- 1:03:20Speaker 5: They're at home, so they they get three, right, right,
- 1:03:25Speaker 5: So it's really like they're plus two.
- 1:03:27Speaker 4: They should be four.
- 1:03:28Speaker 5: So if you're getting three, that means they're favored by one.
- 1:03:32Speaker 4: We're not getting it.
- 1:03:33Speaker 5: They are get they're giving points. They're favored by one.
- 1:03:36Speaker 4: They didn't get the three.
- 1:03:40Speaker 5: If you could follow the nonsensical three points for the hotel,
- 1:03:44Speaker 5: what would the spread be if it was neutral?
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: Don't bring me into this any one four one.
- 1:03:48Speaker 6: Plus three because you get three points at home, you
- 1:03:51Speaker 6: would you're giving yeah, plus.
- 1:03:52Speaker 5: Three plus two if it was zero. I thought you
- 1:03:56Speaker 5: get three at go three at home. He says you
- 1:03:59Speaker 5: get three. It's not it doesn't exist. But he insists
- 1:04:02Speaker 5: that you get three at home.
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: It's a rule.
- 1:04:03Speaker 5: So they're favored by one. Doesn't three minus three zero,
- 1:04:07Speaker 5: So that would be reminus sing three.
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: You said it was zero, that would.
- 1:04:10Speaker 5: Be you gotta hurry.
- 1:04:11Speaker 4: We got you gotta hurry.
- 1:04:14Speaker 5: That's another great moment.
- 1:04:18Speaker 4: All right back here on Patriots Unfilled Today. Five to
- 1:04:20Speaker 4: five pass five hundred is the TPX Outline podcast at
- 1:04:24Speaker 4: patriots dot com is email address. A couple of shows ago,
- 1:04:26Speaker 4: I think it was a week ago today, we had
- 1:04:29Speaker 4: our conversation about hoodies.
- 1:04:31Speaker 6: Oh yeah, is that yeah?
- 1:04:33Speaker 5: I think you're right.
- 1:04:34Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, Brian says, Okay, Fred about those hoodies. I
- 1:04:38Speaker 4: have no less than forty in my closet, so in
- 1:04:41Speaker 4: my own mind, I'm kind of an expert on the topic.
- 1:04:44Speaker 4: So whether it be thick, thin, t shirty, or whatever,
- 1:04:47Speaker 4: the key is, does it have a single pocket in
- 1:04:50Speaker 4: the front. If the answer to that question is yes,
- 1:04:53Speaker 4: it's all good. If no pocket, then the hoodie has
- 1:04:56Speaker 4: to go. I have a not on those T shirt ones.
- 1:05:00Speaker 4: You don't have a pocket in the front. I do
- 1:05:02Speaker 4: have not two pockets a single pocket?
- 1:05:05Speaker 5: Well, he said, If it has no pocket.
- 1:05:07Speaker 4: He said, he said, does it have a single pocket
- 1:05:11Speaker 4: in the front. If the answer to that question is yes,
- 1:05:13Speaker 4: it's all good. If no pocket, then the hoodie.
- 1:05:16Speaker 5: Has to I have two of them.
- 1:05:18Speaker 4: That's not good. Divided as for sleeveless.
- 1:05:23Speaker 6: That they can't connect, can't connect cut through it.
- 1:05:25Speaker 5: If he's not a single pocket, it's not a single pocket.
- 1:05:29Speaker 4: As for sleeveless, I also have about ten of those,
- 1:05:32Speaker 4: which I refer to as my summer hoodies.
- 1:05:34Speaker 5: Great for start pump cover.
- 1:05:36Speaker 4: Yeah, he gets into exercising and I'm not.
- 1:05:39Speaker 5: Gonna t J has a lot of those. Yeah, it's
- 1:05:41Speaker 5: my pump cover.
- 1:05:43Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:05:43Speaker 5: Like the sweat on hardo correct, Eric, TJ.
- 1:05:48Speaker 6: Let me get to like mock turtleneck, you know, mock
- 1:05:51Speaker 6: sweatshirts with like the you know it didn't have the hoodie,
- 1:05:53Speaker 6: just had the the neck on it. You know, like
- 1:05:56Speaker 6: a mock turtleneck with turtle. What do they call mock
- 1:05:58Speaker 6: mock mocks?
- 1:05:59Speaker 5: Well, we used to have mock turtlenecks. Yeah, those were
- 1:06:02Speaker 5: like a nineties.
- 1:06:04Speaker 6: Yeah, early I got made fun of a couple of
- 1:06:07Speaker 6: times in college were wearing turtlenecks by girls. They did
- 1:06:09Speaker 6: not I think one of the turtles.
- 1:06:11Speaker 4: Like college, did you have a pipe to like.
- 1:06:16Speaker 6: Just the turtle neck just to keep the neck warm.
- 1:06:18Speaker 6: You know, it looks nice under a sweater.
- 1:06:20Speaker 5: I never thought, never a big turtleneck guy. But go
- 1:06:23Speaker 5: through the mock turtle neck phase.
- 1:06:24Speaker 4: Though I think I might have.
- 1:06:27Speaker 6: Changed chain on the outside.
- 1:06:30Speaker 5: Ah. No, I was never a chain on the outside. Guy,
- 1:06:34Speaker 5: You know that.
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: I'm googling mocks just to see what they were, and
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: the pictures have chains on the outside.
- 1:06:39Speaker 5: I never ever wore a change outside, never, never, not once.
- 1:06:44Speaker 5: And I used to wear a chain every day. Sure
- 1:06:46Speaker 5: with the horn, No more with the horn. I don't
- 1:06:49Speaker 5: have any no change change.
- 1:06:52Speaker 4: Jacob and Illinois says, listening to Paul fight listeners over
- 1:06:55Speaker 4: two point conversions maybe the funniest operating hazard I've had
- 1:06:59Speaker 4: while driving my truck. I've got a statement for the team,
- 1:07:02Speaker 4: and then two podcast bits. One, we all knew the
- 1:07:05Speaker 4: team wasn't going to be great, so everyone acting like
- 1:07:08Speaker 4: we're beyond hope and help just seems like childish whining
- 1:07:12Speaker 4: from spoil fans. Like interstate road construction, the ride may
- 1:07:16Speaker 4: get a lot rougher before you see smooth and open roads.
- 1:07:19Speaker 4: Be patient, it'll come. Two. I'm getting aggravated that Paul
- 1:07:23Speaker 4: can't get a new car when you have the intro
- 1:07:26Speaker 4: read for your friends at buy Atoyota dot com. What's
- 1:07:29Speaker 4: it gonna take for them to help a guy out
- 1:07:32Speaker 4: get him a nice four runner? So he and Mike
- 1:07:34Speaker 4: could go off roading into the beach to look for Jaws.
- 1:07:37Speaker 6: Here you go, Toyota, Jaws is in the ocean. You
- 1:07:39Speaker 6: know your boat, you said, the beach looking out on
- 1:07:43Speaker 6: the buy not did you have to learn the coastguard?
- 1:07:46Speaker 4: No?
- 1:07:48Speaker 5: You know.
- 1:07:48Speaker 4: And if you want to see Toyota's best offers, including
- 1:07:50Speaker 4: those not seen on TV, go to buy a Toyota
- 1:07:52Speaker 4: dot com. It's the official website for deals from the
- 1:07:55Speaker 4: official vehicle the New England Patriots. So let's go get
- 1:07:59Speaker 4: Paul a new car.
- 1:08:01Speaker 5: Yeah, that's one of my favorite emails ever.
- 1:08:04Speaker 6: I might have to get Toyota.
- 1:08:05Speaker 4: I'm talking to you if because I know that there's
- 1:08:07Speaker 4: always somebody no matter what the subject that's related. So
- 1:08:10Speaker 4: I know there's somebody from Toyota listening. If you got Paul, Paul,
- 1:08:15Speaker 4: If you got Paul a new car, the promotion that
- 1:08:19Speaker 4: you would get off of that exceeds anything you could
- 1:08:22Speaker 4: buy on TV or radio.
- 1:08:24Speaker 5: I would do read here shows.
- 1:08:27Speaker 6: We do pictures of them advertising every day up to PVT.
- 1:08:33Speaker 4: What model do you want?
- 1:08:35Speaker 5: I could probably isn't CAMERI isn't that The camera is
- 1:08:38Speaker 5: a good one of an accord?
- 1:08:40Speaker 4: Right? Yes? I don't know.
- 1:08:42Speaker 5: Oh yeah, anyone camera is a good good one.
- 1:08:47Speaker 6: Get the Ford Runner. Look on the Ford.
- 1:08:49Speaker 5: I don't I don't need isn't that I don't need
- 1:08:51Speaker 5: anything special. I don't need an.
- 1:08:52Speaker 6: Suv or I just need space.
- 1:08:56Speaker 5: Spread I don't need space.
- 1:08:58Speaker 6: Yeah, I think one to want the Corolla.
- 1:09:02Speaker 5: Is that camera is higher than isn't Camery bigger than Corolla?
- 1:09:06Speaker 6: Is the low the low man.
- 1:09:07Speaker 5: I think Corolla is like a Civic, I think, and
- 1:09:11Speaker 5: a camera is like a cord.
- 1:09:13Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean it doesn't have to be a Honda anyway.
- 1:09:16Speaker 4: Right, not used?
- 1:09:17Speaker 5: Well, I could use a new one. I have a
- 1:09:19Speaker 5: long commute, yeah, one hundred miles a day.
- 1:09:22Speaker 6: Yeah, I got a hum. I got a hum in
- 1:09:24Speaker 6: the back of my car that I don't know how
- 1:09:25Speaker 6: they're gonna fix it, but it's driving me crazy.
- 1:09:27Speaker 5: Sort to have a bad car that has a lot
- 1:09:29Speaker 5: of miles.
- 1:09:30Speaker 6: How many miles? Two hundred and fifty thousand, See that's
- 1:09:33Speaker 6: an advertiser two.
- 1:09:34Speaker 5: And forty nine. Yeah, I think right now.
- 1:09:37Speaker 4: Yeah, so let the mixt Let the next Toyota journey
- 1:09:40Speaker 4: begins in pasted inspection in three years one year, Come on, Toyota,
- 1:09:46Speaker 4: step up.
- 1:09:47Speaker 5: I don't know why you have to call that out
- 1:09:48Speaker 5: to attention. Fred just told you we have a lot
- 1:09:51Speaker 5: of people from a lot of different walks at the
- 1:09:53Speaker 5: State Police. Now state listening.
- 1:09:55Speaker 6: Who's gonna be I'm just gonna hang out on me.
- 1:09:58Speaker 4: Finally, Jacob says, with next Thursday being Halloween, could we
- 1:10:01Speaker 4: see a PU show with everyone in costume? I hear
- 1:10:04Speaker 4: recreating Hooper's look isn't hard and Evan could break out
- 1:10:08Speaker 4: in his tightest pants to be Ben Johnson.
- 1:10:11Speaker 6: Nope, so that'd be sexy.
- 1:10:12Speaker 5: U Micha will come in as like some I could do.
- 1:10:15Speaker 6: Something mid eighties Patriots.
- 1:10:17Speaker 4: I like that.
- 1:10:18Speaker 5: Coach challenge accepted, Raymond Berry, don't come in as I've been.
- 1:10:21Speaker 6: Trying to find a way to get my wig on
- 1:10:23Speaker 6: this show. I'm gonna get that wig on this show.
- 1:10:25Speaker 6: It's a great way.
- 1:10:27Speaker 4: What's stopping you? Just bring it in and where fine?
- 1:10:29Speaker 5: Speaking of Halloween, I got booed yesterday.
- 1:10:32Speaker 4: Oh yeah, gave it away? Yeah.
- 1:10:36Speaker 5: I was like, yeah, I didn't give it away. I
- 1:10:40Speaker 5: plan on parts.
- 1:10:41Speaker 4: So here's the funny thing.
- 1:10:42Speaker 5: But I wanted everybody to shore.
- 1:10:43Speaker 4: So what people you get booed, you get like a
- 1:10:46Speaker 4: bucket of candy, and it says you got booed, and
- 1:10:48Speaker 4: the idea is now you have to boost somebody else
- 1:10:51Speaker 4: and get them a bucket of candy.
- 1:10:53Speaker 5: So a couple of weeks stops here.
- 1:10:55Speaker 4: No, but listen. A couple of weeks ago, I was
- 1:10:56Speaker 4: cleaning out my office and I found these like stick
- 1:10:59Speaker 4: on tattoos. So I left them on Autumn's desk, you know,
- 1:11:04Speaker 4: one of our new video people. I figured out maybe
- 1:11:06Speaker 4: she'll want it, so I left them on her desk.
- 1:11:08Speaker 4: So yesterday I got booed and in the bucket were
- 1:11:12Speaker 4: those tattoos?
- 1:11:13Speaker 5: Nice?
- 1:11:14Speaker 4: So I said to her, I go, yeah, I got booed.
- 1:11:16Speaker 4: She's like, oh really, God, yeah, and you did it?
- 1:11:18Speaker 5: How do you know?
- 1:11:19Speaker 4: Because the tattoos that I left on your desk were
- 1:11:21Speaker 4: in the bucket. She's like, oh man, I outed myself
- 1:11:24Speaker 4: so that was funny.
- 1:11:25Speaker 5: So I, uh, yeah, Sailor did it to me. Well, yeah,
- 1:11:30Speaker 5: there's a picture of her, so I don't think she's
- 1:11:33Speaker 5: trying to cover take credit. But I feel bad because
- 1:11:37Speaker 5: now that the chain ends little mist I thought that
- 1:11:41Speaker 5: maybe refuse to partake, well, refuses a strong word.
- 1:11:44Speaker 4: I think I think it's probably he got very accurate
- 1:11:47Speaker 4: in this case. I think you're slapping down the Di'angelo's
- 1:11:49Speaker 4: sub right now.
- 1:11:50Speaker 5: H No. I actually, as part of my my bucket,
- 1:11:53Speaker 5: I got a jersey Mike's card, oh wow. But I
- 1:11:56Speaker 5: gave it to camp because I thought he might be
- 1:11:58Speaker 5: able to use it. The man of the p was
- 1:12:00Speaker 5: very I am a man. I thought you were first,
- 1:12:01Speaker 5: Like I got booed.
- 1:12:02Speaker 6: You were gonna get mad? Like what you booing me?
- 1:12:04Speaker 6: Why are you booing me? Like everyone you know?
- 1:12:05Speaker 5: I wasn't. It wasn't.
- 1:12:06Speaker 6: That was a good thing.
- 1:12:07Speaker 5: It wasn't mad at all. You know. Like, there's a
- 1:12:10Speaker 5: nice bucket of candy they put together, and I figured
- 1:12:12Speaker 5: everybody can enjoy it.
- 1:12:13Speaker 4: In the office a lot of pressure.
- 1:12:14Speaker 5: So I put it in the bullpen, though, right so
- 1:12:17Speaker 5: everybody can enjoy it. I'm getting mocked by Mike.
- 1:12:20Speaker 6: You can't give me any of your candy.
- 1:12:22Speaker 5: I I didn't get any of that candy. It's it's
- 1:12:24Speaker 5: in the bullpen.
- 1:12:25Speaker 4: Bullpend's not the radio studio.
- 1:12:27Speaker 5: Okay, I'll bring it down.
- 1:12:28Speaker 6: I don't. I don't mess with those white chocolate peanut buttercups.
- 1:12:30Speaker 5: That's did you try one?
- 1:12:32Speaker 6: I have tried.
- 1:12:33Speaker 5: You don't white chocolate peanut butter. Try them. I will
- 1:12:36Speaker 5: just say that, say it's exactly like the regular milk
- 1:12:39Speaker 5: chocolate on peanut.
- 1:12:40Speaker 4: Butter is overwhelming, correct, it overwhelms the chocolate.
- 1:12:42Speaker 5: Are the still like one of the greatest.
- 1:12:49Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:12:49Speaker 6: I put it up as the.
- 1:12:51Speaker 5: It's the capital t the best, the best.
- 1:12:54Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:12:54Speaker 4: And when you get to sleep, take simple. When you
- 1:12:57Speaker 4: get the sleeve of three, that first one is always
- 1:12:59Speaker 4: the best one, you know, it comes out.
- 1:13:01Speaker 6: I like the specialty ones like in the pumpkins.
- 1:13:03Speaker 5: Oh.
- 1:13:03Speaker 6: I don't like any little thicker, little thicker.
- 1:13:05Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't like any of that. Just give me
- 1:13:07Speaker 4: the normal Reese's peanut butter cup. Fine, let's go to
- 1:13:12Speaker 4: the TPX outline. Brian's and mass what's up, Brian, it's kind.
- 1:13:17Speaker 6: Of vague, Brian, Brian Belichick.
- 1:13:20Speaker 4: Yeah, well he's out Joe practice. Joe's in Delaware. What's up,
- 1:13:24Speaker 4: Joe Biden?
- 1:13:26Speaker 17: Thank guys, thanks for taking a call.
- 1:13:28Speaker 24: I have a question if in March twenty twenty, instead
- 1:13:32Speaker 24: of letting Brady go, Robert Kraft convinces Brady to re
- 1:13:37Speaker 24: sign and let's Belichick go, do you think they that
- 1:13:41Speaker 24: the Patriots could have won another Super Bowl and just
- 1:13:44Speaker 24: for context, I'm sure Josh McDaniels would have been the
- 1:13:47Speaker 24: head coach. There weren't a ton of other candidates available,
- 1:13:52Speaker 24: Eric b Enemy and maybe Bill O'Brien, and then the
- 1:13:56Speaker 24: free agent class had Amari Cooper. But instead of the
- 1:14:00Speaker 24: trading our first round pick, we could have maybe drafted
- 1:14:04Speaker 24: Brandon Aiyuk or Ti Higgainst And I'll take the call
- 1:14:06Speaker 24: off here.
- 1:14:07Speaker 17: Think cool?
- 1:14:07Speaker 4: Okay, thanks?
- 1:14:08Speaker 5: Yeah, like that puts a lot of different variables. I
- 1:14:12Speaker 5: would need all of those kinds of moves to have
- 1:14:14Speaker 5: been made if I would say that they would have
- 1:14:16Speaker 5: won a Super Bowl, Yeah, because I don't think the
- 1:14:18Speaker 5: twenty nineteen Patriots were anywhere close.
- 1:14:20Speaker 6: No, with Tom Brady, Yeah, and trying to figure out
- 1:14:23Speaker 6: how to bring Tom Brady back into that mix with
- 1:14:25Speaker 6: I mean, how are you gonna find the weapons that
- 1:14:27Speaker 6: year too? Like he's a rookie. I think twenty twenty,
- 1:14:31Speaker 6: I don't know. I mean, I would never rule anything
- 1:14:33Speaker 6: out with Tom Brady, But.
- 1:14:35Speaker 5: No, I wouldn't even say he has no chance because
- 1:14:37Speaker 5: we've seen him with average to below average talent.
- 1:14:40Speaker 6: And you think that twenty twenty season two. I always
- 1:14:42Speaker 6: thought he just kind of had a distinct advantage because
- 1:14:45Speaker 6: like his team well I mean, I don't want to
- 1:14:48Speaker 6: take too much credit away from him, but having an
- 1:14:50Speaker 6: established quarterback and system and everything in that season when
- 1:14:54Speaker 6: it all everything got turned upside down, and you know,
- 1:14:57Speaker 6: having a guy that intense. I mean, can you imagine
- 1:14:59Speaker 6: some of these teams now we're talking about it's hard
- 1:15:01Speaker 6: for them to like maintain folks.
- 1:15:02Speaker 5: Got in trouble in front of it, doing things that
- 1:15:03Speaker 5: he wasn't supposed to do. Right in Tampa, have a meet.
- 1:15:07Speaker 4: R M writes in your discussion last week to visualize
- 1:15:10Speaker 4: what the regular callers look like based on their voices,
- 1:15:14Speaker 4: reminded me of my impression of what the PU team
- 1:15:16Speaker 4: looked like while only having listened to the podcast for
- 1:15:19Speaker 4: three plus years. I have since seen the team on
- 1:15:22Speaker 4: video and we'll share my thoughts. Oh Jesus, Paul looks older, crustier,
- 1:15:27Speaker 4: and more pompous than what his voice sounds like. He
- 1:15:30Speaker 4: is too pale and definitely needs son. Wow. Fred, with
- 1:15:35Speaker 4: his amiable sounds and comments, looks similar to the impression
- 1:15:39Speaker 4: of a father figure of a house full of rabid
- 1:15:41Speaker 4: football fans. However, he does have a face for radio
- 1:15:45Speaker 4: and not TV. Wow. Mike looks nothing like expected. With
- 1:15:50Speaker 4: all the discussion of his Hollywood good looks, one would
- 1:15:53Speaker 4: expect he is a Richard Gear lookalike, whereas he is
- 1:15:56Speaker 4: much closer to Shemp.
- 1:15:59Speaker 6: I appreciate the three reference. That's good, that's good.
- 1:16:03Speaker 5: Well, you could call me pale, but Mike is wicked hands.
- 1:16:05Speaker 4: Tite pants. Evan looks the part perfectly. He's the kid
- 1:16:08Speaker 4: in class that sits in the front row, raises his
- 1:16:10Speaker 4: hand for every question, and receive wedgies throughout. There was
- 1:16:14Speaker 4: no surprise there. Alex and Tamara have lovely, sweet voices
- 1:16:19Speaker 4: and both exceeded expectations. I'm not sure what the caller
- 1:16:22Speaker 4: slash Texture a few months ago was thinking about when
- 1:16:25Speaker 4: he said Alex's hair was not good. It might have
- 1:16:27Speaker 4: been a bad day, but I think he needs his
- 1:16:30Speaker 4: eyes examined. All in all, it would make sense to
- 1:16:32Speaker 4: keep the cameras on the ladies and relegate the remainder
- 1:16:35Speaker 4: of the staff to the closet.
- 1:16:37Speaker 6: Wow, thank you for your email.
- 1:16:42Speaker 4: Yeah, let's see thord Or from Iceland. We have listeners
- 1:16:51Speaker 4: from all over the world. Obviously longtime listener, first time
- 1:16:56Speaker 4: electronic email sender was wondering if I it would be
- 1:17:00Speaker 4: possible to get Mike's and Evans song somewhere so I
- 1:17:04Speaker 4: can have them as my ring tone. I just threw
- 1:17:07Speaker 4: up on myself. My wife and daughters always laugh when
- 1:17:10Speaker 4: I'm listening to your shows and start to sing along
- 1:17:13Speaker 4: with the songs. Have a great day.
- 1:17:14Speaker 5: Well you can just.
- 1:17:15Speaker 4: Record the You just download this show and recording yourself.
- 1:17:21Speaker 6: Could email you one of those. It's catchy Ran by
- 1:17:28Speaker 6: the way.
- 1:17:28Speaker 4: Yeah, I'll get him in a second, Ray writes in
- 1:17:32Speaker 4: I know we talk about Bill being hard to deal
- 1:17:33Speaker 4: with back in the day, but hearing Julian Gronk and
- 1:17:36Speaker 4: Billy O talk, it seemed that Tom was just as hard.
- 1:17:39Speaker 4: Do you all agree Tom was still?
- 1:17:43Speaker 6: I think that's some of the stuff that we talked
- 1:17:45Speaker 6: about where you've heard Tom Brady talk about a couple
- 1:17:47Speaker 6: of different times of you're not getting the ball like that,
- 1:17:50Speaker 6: you like you would just be like if you don't
- 1:17:51Speaker 6: do you're not getting the ball, I'm not throwing it.
- 1:17:53Speaker 5: To Do you think that, Like do you think about
- 1:17:55Speaker 5: that right now with like Jalen Polk a little bit? Yeah,
- 1:17:57Speaker 5: but like I like Brady, that would be enough.
- 1:18:00Speaker 6: No, and his career will be over.
- 1:18:01Speaker 5: No, I don't know about, but this season would be over.
- 1:18:05Speaker 6: Tough, tough, I mean even Jewels.
- 1:18:07Speaker 5: You know that.
- 1:18:08Speaker 6: There's a great Edlman clip of you know, they'd be
- 1:18:10Speaker 6: running drills and it was looked against Aaron and Welker
- 1:18:12Speaker 6: would get up and go first, and he would go
- 1:18:14Speaker 6: through the drill and then Edelman was like, you know,
- 1:18:16Speaker 6: I get up and I go through the d and
- 1:18:18Speaker 6: Billy O does the impression. It's perfect of Tom. He like, Jules,
- 1:18:22Speaker 6: didn't you see how West did it? And he's like,
- 1:18:24Speaker 6: I'm running at the sea. Was kidding man, you know,
- 1:18:28Speaker 6: but that's.
- 1:18:28Speaker 5: That's how hard it was. Some of those clips I
- 1:18:30Speaker 5: haven't I haven't watched those podcasts, but some of the
- 1:18:35Speaker 5: clips like thatman's good at it.
- 1:18:36Speaker 6: Oh yeah, he's pretty Bill Billy.
- 1:18:40Speaker 5: Impersonations were pretty good.
- 1:18:41Speaker 6: To talking about a Bill's feet smelling in meetings. That
- 1:18:45Speaker 6: was another girl.
- 1:18:46Speaker 4: But I guess they talked to Bill O'Brien just recently,
- 1:18:49Speaker 4: maybe yesterday or a couple of days ago, and he
- 1:18:52Speaker 4: said that last year was an absolute like it was
- 1:18:55Speaker 4: like he most horrible. It was.
- 1:18:56Speaker 6: It was a mess, like every time it's come up
- 1:18:58Speaker 6: last year.
- 1:18:59Speaker 5: Yeah, of course it.
- 1:19:00Speaker 4: Was like we all knew that at some point Bill
- 1:19:04Speaker 4: O'Brien was going to talk about last year's experience. I
- 1:19:07Speaker 4: didn't know he had talked about it so recently.
- 1:19:10Speaker 6: So every time everything he said, that's all I've heard
- 1:19:15Speaker 6: is just like the little bits of just like it
- 1:19:17Speaker 6: was kind of related to me, and people ask him
- 1:19:19Speaker 6: questions and scrums about it and him just being like,
- 1:19:21Speaker 6: I'm not we're not talking about it. It was a
- 1:19:22Speaker 6: mess like that. He just kind of pleads the fifth
- 1:19:25Speaker 6: the whole season, which I think is kind of interesting
- 1:19:27Speaker 6: at this point, which might be nice to get like
- 1:19:29Speaker 6: some of that perspective of you know, well, what was
- 1:19:31Speaker 6: a mess. But you know, like now I want to know.
- 1:19:34Speaker 5: My guess is the mess was that he wasn't really
- 1:19:36Speaker 5: allowed to bring any of his own coaches with him. Yep.
- 1:19:40Speaker 5: He was kind of saddled with an offensive line coach
- 1:19:42Speaker 5: who ended up, you know, through unforeseen circumstances, not Adriana
- 1:19:47Speaker 5: clemm wasn't able to finish the season or missed a
- 1:19:49Speaker 5: big chunk of the season, and Billy Oh had to
- 1:19:51Speaker 5: basically run the whole thing.
- 1:19:53Speaker 6: Yeah, he had to do will long and I think
- 1:19:55Speaker 6: that was that was a guy.
- 1:19:57Speaker 5: Yeah, so that's a mess when you're an offensive coordinator
- 1:20:00Speaker 5: and you're trying to do you know, everything without any
- 1:20:03Speaker 5: of your guys. You're running every meeting.
- 1:20:05Speaker 4: But you could see from his body language he'd be
- 1:20:07Speaker 4: on the sideline. He'd be just shaking his head.
- 1:20:09Speaker 5: Well, you know, and yeah do I you know, I
- 1:20:12Speaker 5: like Billy. Oh, so maybe I give him a little
- 1:20:14Speaker 5: bit more leeway. But it's not all that different than
- 1:20:17Speaker 5: what Patricia had to deal with the previous year. Not
- 1:20:19Speaker 5: only you're trying to make this guy an offensive coordinator,
- 1:20:22Speaker 5: but he's the offensive line coach and he's saddled quote
- 1:20:25Speaker 5: unquote with Joe Judge, who's got his fingers in every
- 1:20:29Speaker 5: element as the quarterbacks guru. Like just the setup the
- 1:20:35Speaker 5: design was not ideal the last two years before this one.
- 1:20:39Speaker 4: Henry writes in I'm curious if anyone else thinks the Patriots'
- 1:20:43Speaker 4: front office over estimated their desirability when trying to sign
- 1:20:48Speaker 4: veterans this past offseason, And if so, would may starting
- 1:20:51Speaker 4: and playing at a reasonable level be enough to sign
- 1:20:54Speaker 4: some high end talent in the off season. Well, certainly
- 1:20:58Speaker 4: they got slapped in the face, particularly with Ayuk. I mean,
- 1:21:02Speaker 4: he did not want to come here. They the Patriots
- 1:21:05Speaker 4: offered him more money US than Pittsburgh was offering, and
- 1:21:10Speaker 4: certainly more than he ended up getting at San Francisco.
- 1:21:13Speaker 4: He didn't want He didn't even want to talk about it.
- 1:21:16Speaker 5: But now that was a good move.
- 1:21:19Speaker 4: Or whether it was a good or bad move towards
- 1:21:21Speaker 4: a so that would have happened too. But whether but
- 1:21:23Speaker 4: whether or not he would have been good here, that
- 1:21:25Speaker 4: beside the point. The point is he didn't want to
- 1:21:27Speaker 4: come here, period, and you know Calvin Ridley didn't seem
- 1:21:32Speaker 4: to be that crazy about it.
- 1:21:34Speaker 5: Either, you know, did want to come here.
- 1:21:35Speaker 4: Yeah, So it's an it's a problem. It's a problem
- 1:21:38Speaker 4: that they're going to have to do.
- 1:21:39Speaker 5: It will still be a problem no matter what Drake
- 1:21:42Speaker 5: May does. The difference is it's not an insurmountable problem.
- 1:21:47Speaker 6: Right, you have.
- 1:21:48Speaker 5: To pay your way out of it. Yeah, you know,
- 1:21:51Speaker 5: you're going to have to pay a little bit more
- 1:21:53Speaker 5: probably than an average team, unless you know, May is
- 1:21:58Speaker 5: so good that they start winning games. Yeah, that changes it.
- 1:22:00Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, like let's just say that May continues
- 1:22:03Speaker 4: the progression and let's say Booty and Born pick one another,
- 1:22:07Speaker 4: Pop Douglas have good seasons and you're a wide receiver
- 1:22:11Speaker 4: on teams, Like if they can do well with that guy,
- 1:22:15Speaker 4: I can light it up.
- 1:22:16Speaker 5: But they have to win. Yeah, like they like Yeah,
- 1:22:19Speaker 5: Mike always talks about the ninety three thing, like show
- 1:22:23Speaker 5: something that there's something brewing light at the end of
- 1:22:26Speaker 5: the time. We got so they have ten games left.
- 1:22:29Speaker 5: Can they go five and five in the last ten
- 1:22:32Speaker 5: and you know, and May's throwing for three hundred yards,
- 1:22:35Speaker 5: you know, in seven of those ten games, and these
- 1:22:38Speaker 5: guys look good. Yeah, maybe someone, you know, someone look
- 1:22:41Speaker 5: at that and say, I can I can help that team?
- 1:22:44Speaker 5: I can? I can They're on the way.
- 1:22:46Speaker 6: Especially where he's chucking bombs downfield. I mean that's like
- 1:22:48Speaker 6: just that in and of itself. I feel if I'm
- 1:22:50Speaker 6: an receiver room like that guy can hit me. Man,
- 1:22:52Speaker 6: I can get open downfield. I'm gonna make some big plays.
- 1:22:54Speaker 6: You know.
- 1:22:55Speaker 4: Brian's back. Brian from mass He's from the whole state. Vague,
- 1:22:59Speaker 4: very vague is multiple locations.
- 1:23:01Speaker 5: And you guys after you Brian, you're trying to keep
- 1:23:04Speaker 5: a low profile.
- 1:23:06Speaker 4: Yeah, what's up her business?
- 1:23:10Speaker 6: Doing good?
- 1:23:11Speaker 5: Maybe? Okay, how are you.
- 1:23:14Speaker 10: All right?
- 1:23:16Speaker 5: Is that is that it?
- 1:23:17Speaker 18: You?
- 1:23:17Speaker 5: Just okay?
- 1:23:18Speaker 4: All right, we'll move on. Courtney's in Houston. What's up Courtney?
- 1:23:22Speaker 17: Hey, guys, thanks for taking my call. I just wanted
- 1:23:24Speaker 17: to say, jump in here really quickly. Out weird call
- 1:23:27Speaker 17: by the way, Brian, I just want to give you guys.
- 1:23:31Speaker 17: I just want to take a second, Mike. I've never
- 1:23:34Speaker 17: gotten the privilege of talking to you directly, so to me,
- 1:23:36Speaker 17: this is a lot of cool at to get because
- 1:23:37Speaker 17: I'm gonna ask you a defensive question, but I just
- 1:23:40Speaker 17: wanted to take a second to give you, guys your flowers.
- 1:23:42Speaker 17: You guys have been making me laugh all day, despite
- 1:23:45Speaker 17: all of the stuff that's been going on with the
- 1:23:47Speaker 17: Patriots and all the commocuous stuff that's going on. So
- 1:23:51Speaker 17: just the laughter today, the joy, the recalls from being
- 1:23:55Speaker 17: JB QB coach like, you guys are making this scene
- 1:23:58Speaker 17: really lighthearted, and I promise you that that's worth a lot.
- 1:24:00Speaker 17: So Mike, here's my question. Let's go past president future defensively.
- 1:24:06Speaker 17: Do you think that there's something I'll gilmore that we
- 1:24:10Speaker 17: could have gotten in all, you know, pre off season
- 1:24:12Speaker 17: that could have helped the SFUS. I know, obviously we
- 1:24:15Speaker 17: went very heavy on the draft offensively, which made sense.
- 1:24:18Speaker 17: I'm say that right, Yeah, we went heavy on the
- 1:24:20Speaker 17: draft offensively, but do you think there's something we could
- 1:24:22Speaker 17: have did with the defense? Do you think there's something
- 1:24:25Speaker 17: we can do with the trade deadline? And then do
- 1:24:27Speaker 17: you see them going heavy free agency next year knowing
- 1:24:31Speaker 17: that they're probably going to use that draft capital on
- 1:24:33Speaker 17: the offensive staff a year. I'm the guy that came.
- 1:24:36Speaker 4: Yeah. No, it's a good question, Courtney. And here here's
- 1:24:38Speaker 4: the thing. The the answer is probably there was. But
- 1:24:43Speaker 4: at the beginning of the season, you didn't think it
- 1:24:44Speaker 4: was going to be this bad, Like you didn't think
- 1:24:47Speaker 4: that on defense, we have to really you know, look
- 1:24:49Speaker 4: at So that's why they were going after wide receivers.
- 1:24:52Speaker 4: That's why they brought in you know, chukes On, you know,
- 1:24:55Speaker 4: so their focus was like how do we make this
- 1:24:57Speaker 4: offense better? Had they known what was going to happen
- 1:25:01Speaker 4: on defense, Yeah, there probably was things they could have done.
- 1:25:04Speaker 4: Gilmore was a guy that was out there to chance. No,
- 1:25:07Speaker 4: but I'm just saying there was there were guys out
- 1:25:10Speaker 4: there that could have helped this defense.
- 1:25:11Speaker 5: But like I think you have would have had the
- 1:25:13Speaker 5: same problem that you had on offense trying to do that. Yeah,
- 1:25:17Speaker 5: like you can sign Sioni Taki taki, But you're not
- 1:25:21Speaker 5: going to sign Rokwan Smith, right, he ain't coming here
- 1:25:24Speaker 5: right now. This was directed his question.
- 1:25:28Speaker 4: But but I think that Courtney's point was there didn't
- 1:25:32Speaker 4: seem to be that focus on the defense. And he's right,
- 1:25:35Speaker 4: But I don't think they think thought they needed to.
- 1:25:38Speaker 6: I think they I mean, I think they needed another edge.
- 1:25:40Speaker 6: I mean, I think they could have used a young
- 1:25:43Speaker 6: you know, third fourth round pick doesn't have to be
- 1:25:45Speaker 6: the first couple of rounds. But that was the sweet
- 1:25:47Speaker 6: spot I was looking at those guys last year. They
- 1:25:49Speaker 6: could have done it in free agency too. I mean,
- 1:25:51Speaker 6: I think we all saw the writing on the wall
- 1:25:52Speaker 6: with Judon. We knew that that was going to come
- 1:25:54Speaker 6: to some kind of contract in past. So you know,
- 1:25:57Speaker 6: I said to Paul, I mean I kind of like
- 1:25:58Speaker 6: Anthony Jennings. I think he's like, you know, a good
- 1:26:00Speaker 6: role player. But you know, in a perfect world, I
- 1:26:03Speaker 6: would have taken when I paid Jennings and Uce and
- 1:26:06Speaker 6: maybe tried to put that into one player who is
- 1:26:09Speaker 6: a combination of the two and playing you know, all
- 1:26:11Speaker 6: three downs and somebody who you know continues to just
- 1:26:14Speaker 6: kind of be a spot player and Jennings is a
- 1:26:15Speaker 6: run stuffer, but their run defense things right now.
- 1:26:17Speaker 4: So I think a lot of these guys you mentioned
- 1:26:20Speaker 4: Jennings and I agree, they're all good players, but they're
- 1:26:23Speaker 4: not the tier players and they're asked to be now.
- 1:26:28Speaker 4: And that's the problem that they're being asked to be
- 1:26:31Speaker 4: impact playmakers and they're support players. They're they're solid support players.
- 1:26:38Speaker 4: They're the middle class that Paul likes to scoff at.
- 1:26:40Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean it's hard to say that sets I
- 1:26:43Speaker 6: wouldn't have done more, But at safety, I think they
- 1:26:46Speaker 6: like that position group. It's been you know, it is
- 1:26:48Speaker 6: what it is. With what's happened to Pepper's Bentley, I'm
- 1:26:51Speaker 6: kind of a little bit confused on just because I'm
- 1:26:54Speaker 6: looking at next offseason and yeah, he's gonna come back,
- 1:26:57Speaker 6: but I think you've seen this year that the drop
- 1:27:00Speaker 6: off of not having a second guy who can play
- 1:27:02Speaker 6: inside off the ball is a detriment. So I would
- 1:27:05Speaker 6: I would consider drafting that that that spot next year.
- 1:27:08Speaker 5: I said, you know, edge, Mike, You've always been edge
- 1:27:12Speaker 5: in another corner, like you know, and then the linebackers
- 1:27:15Speaker 5: and stuff. I'd agree with all your assessments. I just
- 1:27:18Speaker 5: I think it's fair to criticize the structure of the
- 1:27:21Speaker 5: roster because they could have done more. But I don't
- 1:27:24Speaker 5: necessarily blame them for Listen, if bar Moore, Bentley and
- 1:27:29Speaker 5: Pepper's were all out there and listen, that's unrealistic because
- 1:27:33Speaker 5: every defense loses guys. But if those guys were out there,
- 1:27:36Speaker 5: that's the defense they thought they will bring it into
- 1:27:38Speaker 5: the season. I think they'd be one and six, well
- 1:27:40Speaker 5: three of those guys, but they wouldn't be allowing two
- 1:27:42Speaker 5: hundred yards a game rushing and and you know, maybe
- 1:27:46Speaker 5: they'd be two and five because I think they would
- 1:27:47Speaker 5: have won the Miami game. But to Mike's point, what
- 1:27:54Speaker 5: you know, fourth round pick, you know, maybe a guy
- 1:27:57Speaker 5: like that early day three kind of a pick on defense. Yeah,
- 1:27:59Speaker 5: that's a guy that I think Mike is right, you
- 1:28:02Speaker 5: can add some depth to your some areas that are lacking.
- 1:28:06Speaker 5: But I don't think that they should have been interested
- 1:28:09Speaker 5: in high profile signings and free agency on defense at
- 1:28:13Speaker 5: those spots, not even getting into the same problem I
- 1:28:17Speaker 5: think they were to run into, like daniel Hunter got
- 1:28:19Speaker 5: moved in the off You think Danielle Hunter wants to
- 1:28:21Speaker 5: go to the Patriots in the off season he goes
- 1:28:24Speaker 5: to Houston.
- 1:28:24Speaker 4: I think, is your mind right now wrapped around? Forget
- 1:28:29Speaker 4: about the quick fixes. We need long term guys.
- 1:28:32Speaker 5: That's how I look at it. Yes, Yeah, that's why
- 1:28:35Speaker 5: I'm not overly interested in like Cooper Cup right now.
- 1:28:38Speaker 5: You know, I don't. Yeah, would that help right now? Yeah,
- 1:28:42Speaker 5: but that's not gonna help me get where I want
- 1:28:45Speaker 5: to go.
- 1:28:46Speaker 4: Roy says Paul would look good behind the wheel of
- 1:28:49Speaker 4: an avalon. Oh that's the top end. I think.
- 1:28:52Speaker 5: Oh well, I would be fine with whatever you're going
- 1:28:57Speaker 5: to give me for the bags.
- 1:29:00Speaker 4: Afford kudos to him for pointing out the absence of Barmore,
- 1:29:04Speaker 4: Bentley and Pepper's It led to the run stats that
- 1:29:07Speaker 4: Belichick referenced. Anyway, Okay, Evan's backs and has turned has turned.
- 1:29:26Speaker 5: All right.
- 1:29:26Speaker 4: We're eagerly awaiting your report.
- 1:29:29Speaker 2: I know this is big stuff. Good news or bad news.
- 1:29:33Speaker 2: Good news first, good news first. For Andre Stevenson, back
- 1:29:36Speaker 2: at Patriots practice on Thursday.
- 1:29:40Speaker 4: Spoke to us.
- 1:29:41Speaker 2: He spoke correct, No, totally not correct. He spoke to
- 1:29:45Speaker 2: us earlier today. It sounded like a family personal matter
- 1:29:49Speaker 2: is why he didn't practice yesterday. Not necessarily the injury. Uh,
- 1:29:53Speaker 2: so he he looks like he's gonna be good to
- 1:29:55Speaker 2: go again on Sunday. And the bad news No Jalen
- 1:29:59Speaker 2: Polk still so he remains in concussion protocol. That one's
- 1:30:03Speaker 2: not turning in a great direction. And no Leyden Robinson still.
- 1:30:07Speaker 2: So both those guys are Darian Lowe was there, but
- 1:30:14Speaker 2: then just like yesterday, he was there and then was
- 1:30:17Speaker 2: still a d NP on the injury report later in
- 1:30:19Speaker 2: the day, So TVD on that one. But he again
- 1:30:22Speaker 2: when we took attendance, he was there.
- 1:30:24Speaker 6: There was a few of those DMP yesterday.
- 1:30:26Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:30:27Speaker 2: On Waite also there, Yeah.
- 1:30:28Speaker 6: Falling on there was one more, gotcha.
- 1:30:31Speaker 2: Yeah, it seems like this regime are giving some more
- 1:30:36Speaker 2: of those, Oh he's banged up on a Wednesday kind
- 1:30:40Speaker 2: of days to guys that are playing a lot, you know,
- 1:30:44Speaker 2: like a Keon White for example, who is playing a
- 1:30:46Speaker 2: ton and just give him one of those days to
- 1:30:49Speaker 2: to rest whatever is kiling him.
- 1:30:51Speaker 4: All right, let's see what do We got a little
- 1:30:55Speaker 4: cooler today than yesterday, but still mild for this time of.
- 1:30:58Speaker 2: A great day. It's a great day out there today.
- 1:31:01Speaker 2: A little overcast today compared to yesterday.
- 1:31:04Speaker 6: Yeah, maybe a little smoke in the air, little forest
- 1:31:07Speaker 6: fires going on around.
- 1:31:09Speaker 2: I did not know that, but yeah, a little bit,
- 1:31:12Speaker 2: you know, different today than yesterday.
- 1:31:14Speaker 4: But so you heard the coordinators this morning, Alex van Pelt,
- 1:31:20Speaker 4: did you get a sense that this morning's meeting was
- 1:31:23Speaker 4: a good meeting from the Wide Receiving Corps.
- 1:31:28Speaker 2: I think Kendrick Bourne said a lot of the right
- 1:31:30Speaker 2: things today, and I do believe that he is trying
- 1:31:34Speaker 2: to be a leader in that room, and he's trying
- 1:31:37Speaker 2: to take guys under his wing, if you will. I
- 1:31:40Speaker 2: think that right now.
- 1:31:41Speaker 5: There's just.
- 1:31:44Speaker 2: For me personally, some of the quoting of the Wide
- 1:31:48Speaker 2: Receivers I personally feel has been unfair by my colleagues.
- 1:31:54Speaker 2: You know, somebody asks Kayshawn Booties yesterday, what's your mentality
- 1:31:59Speaker 2: on the field, and he says, I want the ball
- 1:32:03Speaker 2: and then that gets run with as a quote of him.
- 1:32:05Speaker 5: Being a diva and selfish.
- 1:32:07Speaker 2: Yeah, like it's like.
- 1:32:09Speaker 4: That.
- 1:32:10Speaker 2: It was a question about what.
- 1:32:12Speaker 5: About the comment that he said the only time I
- 1:32:15Speaker 5: get the ball was when I ask for it. He
- 1:32:17Speaker 5: didn't say that though, Oh okay, yeah, someone just made
- 1:32:20Speaker 5: up a quote.
- 1:32:20Speaker 2: No, I'm just saying it was made up, though you know,
- 1:32:23Speaker 2: he said that he came to the sideline in the
- 1:32:26Speaker 2: Texans game specifically and said something along the lines of,
- 1:32:33Speaker 2: you know, I can get this guy. You know, he
- 1:32:36Speaker 2: knows stingly.
- 1:32:37Speaker 5: Very well everybody. So you're saying he was misquoted because
- 1:32:40Speaker 5: that's not what he said. That's not what he's being
- 1:32:42Speaker 5: credited as.
- 1:32:43Speaker 2: I would I would just say that the quote in
- 1:32:45Speaker 2: the in the context of the question is important. You
- 1:32:49Speaker 2: know the question.
- 1:32:49Speaker 5: Agree with that.
- 1:32:50Speaker 2: The question was what is your mentality on the field,
- 1:32:55Speaker 2: and his mentality as a wide receiver is that he
- 1:32:58Speaker 2: wants the ball if his mentality as a wide receiver was.
- 1:33:03Speaker 5: But his again, I'm not in the locker room because
- 1:33:06Speaker 5: I'm not allowed to be anymore.
- 1:33:08Speaker 4: And that's not true.
- 1:33:09Speaker 5: That's kind of true. If you have a camera, it
- 1:33:12Speaker 5: kind of is.
- 1:33:13Speaker 6: It's not.
- 1:33:13Speaker 5: They don't want us in the locker room cameras no period.
- 1:33:18Speaker 4: No. Yes, maybe, but that's not the rule.
- 1:33:21Speaker 5: Don't want us many of us in the locker trying
- 1:33:24Speaker 5: to cut back on that, so I'm trying.
- 1:33:26Speaker 4: If you have something to do in the locker room,
- 1:33:27Speaker 4: you have every right to be in there.
- 1:33:30Speaker 5: The that's not the same as him saying the last
- 1:33:33Speaker 5: two weeks. The only time I got the ball, I
- 1:33:35Speaker 5: had to ask for it, and like saying I want
- 1:33:38Speaker 5: the ball is not the same the same. That's what
- 1:33:40Speaker 5: he's being credited as having said. If he didn't say it,
- 1:33:43Speaker 5: then that's wrong. If he did say it, Like again,
- 1:33:47Speaker 5: I'm not there, so I don't know. I'm always going
- 1:33:51Speaker 5: off what i'm reading them, them, these guys writing on
- 1:33:53Speaker 5: Twitter and stuff. So if Evan's telling you that's not
- 1:33:56Speaker 5: what he said, then he's being misquoted.
- 1:33:58Speaker 2: That's wrong, right, Yeah, I wouldn't say he's being misquoted.
- 1:34:01Speaker 2: I would just say that it's the context of the
- 1:34:04Speaker 2: setup is important because you can pull quotes and you
- 1:34:08Speaker 2: can pull a set. You know, he gives a four
- 1:34:10Speaker 2: sentence answer, and then you can pull a quote of
- 1:34:12Speaker 2: one sentence that he says in the four sentence answer
- 1:34:15Speaker 2: that sounds a little spicy, and and frame it in
- 1:34:18Speaker 2: a certain way to make it look spicy, you know.
- 1:34:20Speaker 2: kJ Osborne. I was in that scrum yesterday too, and
- 1:34:23Speaker 2: kJ Osborne got asked ten different ways do you want
- 1:34:26Speaker 2: to be traded? It's like how many literally rephrasing the
- 1:34:31Speaker 2: question over and over and over and over again with
- 1:34:34Speaker 2: the same question. Of do you want to be traded?
- 1:34:37Speaker 2: Do you want to be here? Do you know all
- 1:34:40Speaker 2: that kind of stuff, and he said, I'm here right now.
- 1:34:43Speaker 2: This is where I am.
- 1:34:44Speaker 5: I don't care about the l oop comment.
- 1:34:46Speaker 4: That's anale loop.
- 1:34:49Speaker 2: No, I just I'm just telling you.
- 1:34:52Speaker 5: I will just say this misquoted, misrepresented whatever. The coaches
- 1:34:57Speaker 5: obviously felt strongly enough to have a meeting about it. Yeah,
- 1:35:01Speaker 5: like we got to keep that inside. That's what Alex
- 1:35:04Speaker 5: van Pelt said today. We got to keep that internal.
- 1:35:06Speaker 5: We got to do a better job. He was asked
- 1:35:07Speaker 5: specifically about the wide receivers for context, he was asked
- 1:35:10Speaker 5: specifically about the wide receiver room, and he said, we
- 1:35:13Speaker 5: got to do a better job of keeping that stuff inward.
- 1:35:16Speaker 5: I'm not trying they thought it was important enough to address.
- 1:35:19Speaker 2: I'm not telling you it's not important enough to address.
- 1:35:21Speaker 2: I am just telling you that there are there's a
- 1:35:25Speaker 2: way to do it, you know, like there's and these
- 1:35:27Speaker 2: guys got to button up what they're saying. There's no
- 1:35:29Speaker 2: doubt about that. And I'm it's smart that the team
- 1:35:32Speaker 2: is addressing it. I just think a lot of the
- 1:35:35Speaker 2: things that are being said are are being amplified because
- 1:35:39Speaker 2: the team is one and six, and everybody is looking
- 1:35:42Speaker 2: for something life that, for something to quote and for
- 1:35:45Speaker 2: something to say, and.
- 1:35:47Speaker 4: All the more reasons for them to be careful, right, you.
- 1:35:50Speaker 2: Know, agreed. I just a lot of that going on.
- 1:35:55Speaker 4: More importantly, and we do have to hurry because picks.
- 1:35:58Speaker 4: But how is the civil war among the media going?
- 1:36:02Speaker 5: Oh?
- 1:36:02Speaker 4: Who's winning?
- 1:36:03Speaker 2: I know that's what we're going now.
- 1:36:04Speaker 5: I'm interested got a civil war?
- 1:36:06Speaker 4: Who's winning? Uh? I don't want to put you.
- 1:36:09Speaker 2: Other spot well with your colleagues now, I mean, and
- 1:36:12Speaker 2: I don't want to and I don't want to throw
- 1:36:15Speaker 2: anybody under the bus. I just too late, I know.
- 1:36:19Speaker 2: But it just feels and look, we.
- 1:36:22Speaker 4: We feel like people are taking sides a little bit.
- 1:36:24Speaker 2: We we talk about it all the time that our
- 1:36:26Speaker 2: job is slightly different than than what it is when
- 1:36:29Speaker 2: you work on the outside. But when you go into
- 1:36:33Speaker 2: the locker room and you have a goal in mind
- 1:36:36Speaker 2: of I'm going to talk to kJ Osborne or I'm
- 1:36:39Speaker 2: going to talk to Kaishawn Booty, and then you're asking
- 1:36:42Speaker 2: certain pointed questions and the guys are answering the questions,
- 1:36:47Speaker 2: and then we're running with it like it doesn't do
- 1:36:49Speaker 2: anybody as service right, like it's not it the child,
- 1:36:53Speaker 2: it's just not okay, I don't know.
- 1:36:56Speaker 5: I'm well, I don't know. But the job used to
- 1:37:00Speaker 5: it's not the weekend has his agent come out and
- 1:37:02Speaker 5: say he wants to get as him about getting traded job.
- 1:37:06Speaker 4: But the job used to be get those quotes and
- 1:37:09Speaker 4: then write the story with the facts behind it and elaborate.
- 1:37:13Speaker 4: But now it's just for clicks. Now it's just get
- 1:37:16Speaker 4: the headline out in my tweet and I got clicks,
- 1:37:19Speaker 4: and you know, fine, But it used to be there
- 1:37:22Speaker 4: was some reporting behind those quotes, you know, like what's
- 1:37:27Speaker 4: going on, like what's the you know.
- 1:37:29Speaker 5: This just gets back to my original thing. This is
- 1:37:31Speaker 5: the way people want to do it now.
- 1:37:33Speaker 4: No, I know, that's what I'm saying.
- 1:37:35Speaker 5: Wants to report, that's right, And then they try to
- 1:37:38Speaker 5: report and they get made fun of. This is what happens. Well,
- 1:37:40Speaker 5: they're making it up, they're blowing it out of proportion. No,
- 1:37:43Speaker 5: they're not, well, you know they're not. I'm not saying
- 1:37:46Speaker 5: it's not good. And when the coaches are openly talking
- 1:37:49Speaker 5: about the meetings that they're having in the morning, these
- 1:37:51Speaker 5: are issues in the locker room. They should be pounding him.
- 1:37:55Speaker 5: If this was New York, it would be way worse.
- 1:37:58Speaker 5: But there's too many here that just want to be
- 1:38:01Speaker 5: covering the Patriots and put that on their resumes, put
- 1:38:04Speaker 5: it on there. To your point, that's how they're getting clicks.
- 1:38:06Speaker 5: They're on there, they're on Twitter telling everybody I covered
- 1:38:09Speaker 5: the Patriots in my avatar with me talking to Tom
- 1:38:11Speaker 5: Brady like that's that's the identity for half of these people.
- 1:38:15Speaker 4: Who could we be talking to?
- 1:38:17Speaker 5: All right, a lot of people that's that's not an
- 1:38:20Speaker 5: individual thing.
- 1:38:21Speaker 6: No, I know, I know.
- 1:38:23Speaker 5: It's just fun to say, cover the team, Like, that's
- 1:38:26Speaker 5: not your job to have fun. It's hard. Well, if
- 1:38:30Speaker 5: you're doing it right, it's hard, and you don't have
- 1:38:32Speaker 5: to be a flamethrower. Mike Vice is as good at
- 1:38:34Speaker 5: it as anybody. He's not a flamethrower. No he's not,
- 1:38:37Speaker 5: but he's he's like he's covers the team.
- 1:38:40Speaker 4: But I don't think he's well anyway anyway. No, listen,
- 1:38:46Speaker 4: you got to ask the questions. You have to ask
- 1:38:48Speaker 4: the questions.
- 1:38:49Speaker 5: And when they answer them, you got to write what
- 1:38:51Speaker 5: they say. Yeah, I have no inside doesn't think you should.
- 1:38:56Speaker 2: I have no problem with any of that.
- 1:38:57Speaker 5: I just.
- 1:38:59Speaker 2: It's a young group. These guys are clearly saying things that.
- 1:39:06Speaker 4: Well they need they are probably they need instruction. You know,
- 1:39:10Speaker 4: you can't just say everything.
- 1:39:11Speaker 2: That's on your today. Everybody goes up to Javon Baker
- 1:39:15Speaker 2: and now I'm sure that in an hour there'll be
- 1:39:17Speaker 2: a bunch of stories about what's going on with you know,
- 1:39:19Speaker 2: what he had to say about his issues.
- 1:39:21Speaker 4: You know, you have to consider my role on the team,
- 1:39:25Speaker 4: responsibility to my teammates, and like, is what I'm about
- 1:39:29Speaker 4: to say helping us win games or you know? Or
- 1:39:35Speaker 4: is it gonna hurt it?
- 1:39:36Speaker 5: Or is it serving my agenda?
- 1:39:37Speaker 4: Is it serving my agenda?
- 1:39:39Speaker 5: But I think there's been too much of that.
- 1:39:40Speaker 4: There's too much of that. Am I creating a distraction
- 1:39:43Speaker 4: for my teammates? Okay? What happened last week? Paul?
- 1:39:48Speaker 5: All right? Not not quite the dominance that Evan and
- 1:39:57Speaker 5: I are accustomed to. But Alex, Evan and Paul we're
- 1:40:03Speaker 5: all ten and five, Mike and Fred nine and six
- 1:40:07Speaker 5: overall with the spread. Mike ten and five are rare
- 1:40:14Speaker 5: better with a spread than over all week for Mike.
- 1:40:17Speaker 5: There you go, Alex and Fred nine and six, and
- 1:40:20Speaker 5: I go back down to the basement. I was a
- 1:40:22Speaker 5: one week flash in the pan Evan and seven and eight.
- 1:40:26Speaker 5: So here are the standings. I maintained my lead in
- 1:40:31Speaker 5: the overall at sixty seven and forty, Alex sixty six
- 1:40:35Speaker 5: and forty one, Evan sixty five and forty two, Fred
- 1:40:40Speaker 5: sixty three and forty four, and Mike sixty two and
- 1:40:43Speaker 5: forty five. So we're almost sixty with the spread. Fred
- 1:40:49Speaker 5: and Mike are tied for the top. So Mike pulls
- 1:40:51Speaker 5: off the rare trifector of being in last place overall
- 1:40:55Speaker 5: and in the first place against the spread fifty eight
- 1:40:57Speaker 5: forty six and three, Evan fifty five, forty nine and three,
- 1:41:02Speaker 5: and then Alex and I are tied for the basement
- 1:41:04Speaker 5: with fifty four fifty in three records. Okay, all right,
- 1:41:08Speaker 5: we're all making money, guys.
- 1:41:09Speaker 4: Yeah, anything can happen, all right. So we start with
- 1:41:12Speaker 4: tonight Prime Video eight fifteen. It's the five and one
- 1:41:17Speaker 4: Vikings against the two and four Rams.
- 1:41:22Speaker 5: The Vikings by two and a half at the lar on.
- 1:41:24Speaker 6: The Really that still seems kind of a little bit
- 1:41:28Speaker 6: low to me, but uh, I gotta go to Minnesota.
- 1:41:32Speaker 6: I never have a good feel for them. I'm gonna
- 1:41:33Speaker 6: take Minnesota lay the points.
- 1:41:35Speaker 2: On the road. Yeah, I'm gonna take Minnesota in this
- 1:41:40Speaker 2: game as well, and I will take them to cover
- 1:41:44Speaker 2: to the Rams. Just a lot going on with the
- 1:41:46Speaker 2: Rams right now. Yeah, so I'm gonna go with the Vikings.
- 1:41:49Speaker 5: Yeah, Alex also she has given me your picks. Alex
- 1:41:52Speaker 5: takes Minnesota both ways. I'm gonna be with the boys.
- 1:41:54Speaker 5: I'm gonna take the Vikings. I do think the lar
- 1:41:57Speaker 5: has a chance to be a different team in the
- 1:42:00Speaker 5: second half, but they might be sort of beyond that
- 1:42:03Speaker 5: point of being able to be relevant this year. I'm
- 1:42:05Speaker 5: gonna take the Vikings on the road.
- 1:42:07Speaker 4: I am also gonna take the Vikings both ways. Okay,
- 1:42:10Speaker 4: we moved to Sunday. There's no international game, so no
- 1:42:13Speaker 4: early game.
- 1:42:14Speaker 5: We have another Germany game, right that's coming up.
- 1:42:16Speaker 4: We don't, but the league does.
- 1:42:18Speaker 5: Yeah. No, we're not playing in Germany that this year. No,
- 1:42:21Speaker 5: no scheduled.
- 1:42:22Speaker 4: Yeah there is.
- 1:42:23Speaker 5: I mean, I know I wasn't allowed to see it
- 1:42:24Speaker 5: when came out, but I would have thought by.
- 1:42:26Speaker 2: Now, not allowed to know you're not allowed to do
- 1:42:30Speaker 2: these days.
- 1:42:31Speaker 5: Well, that one is actually true. I'm not allowed to
- 1:42:34Speaker 5: see the schedule.
- 1:42:34Speaker 4: They're back in Munich this year. Munich Sunday at one
- 1:42:38Speaker 4: on CBS. The five and two Ravens are at the
- 1:42:41Speaker 4: one and six.
- 1:42:42Speaker 5: Browns Baltimore by eight and a half.
- 1:42:46Speaker 6: Boy who is Cleveland's quarterback?
- 1:42:51Speaker 2: Eat those ws?
- 1:42:52Speaker 6: He's so funny, cracks.
- 1:42:54Speaker 4: How does he do it like this?
- 1:42:55Speaker 2: I'm not a big fan of his.
- 1:42:56Speaker 6: Just the personality. I just he makes me laugh every
- 1:42:59Speaker 6: time I see him with this.
- 1:43:01Speaker 4: No, he goes like this and then he eats it.
- 1:43:04Speaker 5: Yeah, he eats the w.
- 1:43:05Speaker 6: I'm gonna take Baltimore to win, but you say nine
- 1:43:08Speaker 6: and a half?
- 1:43:09Speaker 2: Was that what it was?
- 1:43:09Speaker 6: Eight and a half. I'm gonna take the points for Cleveland, though,
- 1:43:12Speaker 6: I think jameis gonna throw some balls downfield and make
- 1:43:15Speaker 6: it a little bit interesting.
- 1:43:17Speaker 5: Alex takes Baltimore both ways, I do as well.
- 1:43:20Speaker 2: Yeah, this is gonna be a blow up.
- 1:43:22Speaker 5: I'm gonna take Baltimore both ways. But I do worry
- 1:43:24Speaker 5: about that Ravens defense. If Cleveland can somehow stay reasonably
- 1:43:29Speaker 5: close Nick Chubb, you know, second game back, Maybe he
- 1:43:32Speaker 5: can run a little bit, but.
- 1:43:33Speaker 4: It'll score points running the ball pon, but you keep
- 1:43:36Speaker 4: it close.
- 1:43:36Speaker 5: I'm talking about the spread. Okay, but I'm gonna I'm
- 1:43:38Speaker 5: gonna lay the points.
- 1:43:39Speaker 4: Yeah, me too, Fox one o'clock one in five Titans
- 1:43:43Speaker 4: at the five and one.
- 1:43:44Speaker 5: Lions Detroit by eleven.
- 1:43:48Speaker 4: Geez, that's a big spread. We got the Titans next week, right,
- 1:43:52Speaker 4: we could be looking ahead to us.
- 1:43:54Speaker 6: Yeah, absolutely, the Lions. I'm gonna take the Lions at
- 1:44:00Speaker 6: home for sure. Is that too many points? I don't
- 1:44:02Speaker 6: think it is. I'll lay the eleven.
- 1:44:04Speaker 5: Yes, Alex agrees with Mike.
- 1:44:07Speaker 2: I'm gonna take the Lion. The Titans defense has actually
- 1:44:09Speaker 2: been okay, it's their offense that's been deplorable. So I'm
- 1:44:13Speaker 2: gonna take the Lions and I'm gonna take the Titans.
- 1:44:17Speaker 2: That's a big spread. Is I'm gonna take the Titans
- 1:44:18Speaker 2: to cover?
- 1:44:20Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm gonna take Detroit both ways. I think that
- 1:44:23Speaker 5: offense is really clicking.
- 1:44:25Speaker 4: Yeah, the sharps are really telling you something here. Eleven
- 1:44:28Speaker 4: and a half. Definitely take the Lions both ways here,
- 1:44:31Speaker 4: that's what the smart money is going, and Fred is leading.
- 1:44:37Speaker 4: And then look at the money. Then look at the
- 1:44:39Speaker 4: money line too. The money line's not as attractive.
- 1:44:43Speaker 6: Tells you all you need to know.
- 1:44:44Speaker 5: About. I don't even know what he's talking about.
- 1:44:46Speaker 2: I believe it though attractive money.
- 1:44:48Speaker 4: Lines CBS one o'clock. The four and three Colts are
- 1:44:53Speaker 4: at the five and two Texans.
- 1:44:55Speaker 5: Houston by five, kicking themselves up to kicking away a
- 1:44:59Speaker 5: game last week. Yeah, terrible clock manage.
- 1:45:03Speaker 6: I'll take Houston. I'll lay the points.
- 1:45:06Speaker 2: Fred I'm having a tough time this week because we
- 1:45:08Speaker 2: really did not watch a single second of anybody else.
- 1:45:11Speaker 2: I'd accept the Patriots. So I have no idea what
- 1:45:13Speaker 2: happened in the league. Alex Houston, I don't know what
- 1:45:17Speaker 2: that's in reference to. I have no clue. I am
- 1:45:20Speaker 2: going to take the Texans in this game. Yeah, give
- 1:45:24Speaker 2: me the Texans. I think they take care of business.
- 1:45:30Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm going to take Texans, and I'll lay the
- 1:45:32Speaker 5: points to folks.
- 1:45:35Speaker 4: This is this is where the feel for the league
- 1:45:38Speaker 4: comes in. I'm tempted to take the Texans both ways,
- 1:45:41Speaker 4: but I won't. But I will say that the Colts
- 1:45:44Speaker 4: will cover. Remember remember that this is a divisional game
- 1:45:49Speaker 4: and these two teams they know each other. So I'm
- 1:45:56Speaker 4: looking at the Colts to cover, to cover that spread,
- 1:45:59Speaker 4: and that's your underdog point spread. Lock of the week.
- 1:46:04Speaker 5: A lot of qualifiers there.
- 1:46:07Speaker 4: The greatest sideline coach in the modern era. One o'clock
- 1:46:12Speaker 4: on Fox. It's the five and two Packers against the
- 1:46:16Speaker 4: two and five Jaguars coming off. You know this, I
- 1:46:20Speaker 4: think the Jaguars wrote the blueprint on the Patriots.
- 1:46:23Speaker 5: Yeah, green Bay by three and a half.
- 1:46:26Speaker 6: Three and a half. I went against green Bay last week.
- 1:46:28Speaker 6: They may pay. I like green Bay's offense. I think
- 1:46:32Speaker 6: they get on track against Jacksonville and I will lay
- 1:46:34Speaker 6: the points.
- 1:46:36Speaker 5: Alex will as well, go back go, So I will
- 1:46:42Speaker 5: take the Packers, but I will take the hook. Green
- 1:46:46Speaker 5: Bay will win, but I'll take the three and a half.
- 1:46:48Speaker 4: Really, yeah, the hook? You have that much confidence in
- 1:46:50Speaker 4: the Jaguars.
- 1:46:51Speaker 5: No, I don't think the Packers are all that really, No,
- 1:46:53Speaker 5: I don't see I've been underrested. The defense has been
- 1:46:56Speaker 5: pretty good.
- 1:46:56Speaker 4: Yeah, I've been underrestumating the Packers all season. I'm gonna
- 1:46:59Speaker 4: say I'm sorry this week and I'm gonna take the
- 1:47:02Speaker 4: Packers both ways on the Road's.
- 1:47:05Speaker 2: Loss for me too late.
- 1:47:06Speaker 5: Every time I've been on an island, I.
- 1:47:07Speaker 4: Lose Fox at one. The three and four Cardinals are
- 1:47:12Speaker 4: at the two and four.
- 1:47:14Speaker 5: Dolphins Miami by three and a half, with Tua on track.
- 1:47:19Speaker 6: To be back this for this game.
- 1:47:21Speaker 2: But should he play Paul?
- 1:47:23Speaker 5: I really, I think it's irresponsibility and I don't know
- 1:47:26Speaker 5: about but I will not be able to watch that
- 1:47:29Speaker 5: in good conscience.
- 1:47:30Speaker 2: He's not even gonna wear they It makes me uncomfortable.
- 1:47:35Speaker 6: I'm gonna take little Kyler Murray on the road. I'm
- 1:47:37Speaker 6: gonna take.
- 1:47:38Speaker 5: Those points, taking Miami to win.
- 1:47:40Speaker 6: No, I'm gonna take sorry, did you say Arizona's favorite?
- 1:47:43Speaker 5: No, Miami's favorite?
- 1:47:44Speaker 6: Oh yeah, I want the points for Arizona.
- 1:47:45Speaker 5: Wait a minute, So who's winning the game?
- 1:47:47Speaker 4: Arizona Arizona Miami's favorite in this game three and a half.
- 1:47:50Speaker 5: How they're at home and they have to home and
- 1:47:53Speaker 5: back and Arizona staks. I mean, there's a lot of
- 1:47:57Speaker 5: a lot of factors involved here.
- 1:47:59Speaker 4: It's my episode pick of the week.
- 1:48:01Speaker 2: This is a tough one.
- 1:48:06Speaker 5: Alex takes Miami to win in Arizona to cover.
- 1:48:09Speaker 2: I usually like the home team with the road team
- 1:48:12Speaker 2: is coming from the West coast, you know, ten o'clock
- 1:48:15Speaker 2: body clock. Sure, so that's what I'm gonna go with.
- 1:48:18Speaker 2: But I do think that the Cardinals were a little
- 1:48:20Speaker 2: feisty last week. But I'm gonna go with the Dolphins
- 1:48:23Speaker 2: both ways. You know what, I'll take the Cardinals taking
- 1:48:26Speaker 2: the point, Dolphins by field goal.
- 1:48:29Speaker 5: Yeah. I think that Miami is putting a lot into
- 1:48:33Speaker 5: this game. It's kind of do or die for them.
- 1:48:35Speaker 5: You know, their quarterback is back. They need to win
- 1:48:37Speaker 5: the game. They need to look good offensively. I'm gonna
- 1:48:39Speaker 5: lay the points. Gonna take the Dolphins both ways.
- 1:48:42Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm gonna take Cardinals road ups.
- 1:48:45Speaker 5: They are all over the board in this game. Dog
- 1:48:48Speaker 5: upset two, Arizona's out right, one two split it down
- 1:48:51Speaker 5: the middle, and one Miami out right.
- 1:48:53Speaker 4: Yeah. I still take the Cardinals in this game. Their
- 1:48:57Speaker 4: offense isn't what I thought it was going to be,
- 1:48:59Speaker 4: but I think they get back on track this week
- 1:49:03Speaker 4: one o'clock on Fox, the four and three Falcons are
- 1:49:07Speaker 4: at the four and three Buccaneers.
- 1:49:11Speaker 5: Let Baker bake Atlanta by two and a half.
- 1:49:14Speaker 2: Baker Bacon to the other team is what he's been Bacon.
- 1:49:16Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm an interception records Bacon.
- 1:49:20Speaker 6: Yeah, I'm gonna ride the roller coaster though. I'm gonna
- 1:49:21Speaker 6: take Tampa at home. Lay the points.
- 1:49:25Speaker 5: You're getting points Atlanta both ways.
- 1:49:28Speaker 6: For Alex Oh said Atlanta's favorite.
- 1:49:30Speaker 5: Atlanta's favored by two and a half.
- 1:49:31Speaker 4: Sorry, thank you.
- 1:49:33Speaker 2: I took Atlanta last week, I believe, and they did
- 1:49:36Speaker 2: me dirty. No pun intended Minnesota. So I'm gonna take
- 1:49:41Speaker 2: the Bucks at home.
- 1:49:44Speaker 5: So I'm going to take Atlanta. Just too many injuries
- 1:49:48Speaker 5: for the Bucks, all those receivers. I think Baker's gonna
- 1:49:51Speaker 5: have a hard time Bacon.
- 1:49:53Speaker 2: That's true. That's a good point.
- 1:49:55Speaker 4: Paul is correct.
- 1:49:56Speaker 2: He is correct, falcon Ga.
- 1:49:59Speaker 5: About all the injury Would you really like to change your.
- 1:50:03Speaker 4: One o'clock On CBS, the four and two Eagles are
- 1:50:07Speaker 4: at the three and four Bengals.
- 1:50:09Speaker 5: Cincinnati by two, baby, It's same game, good game game
- 1:50:17Speaker 5: on the one o'clock slate.
- 1:50:19Speaker 6: I'm gonna take Cincy. Take Cincinnati, lay the points.
- 1:50:23Speaker 5: Alex will as well.
- 1:50:26Speaker 2: I don't take Philly in this game. And I still
- 1:50:29Speaker 2: just don't really feel like the Bengals are are right.
- 1:50:32Speaker 2: I don't know something weird about that.
- 1:50:35Speaker 5: I think both of these teams are like in that category.
- 1:50:37Speaker 5: I have the no idea what they exactly are. They
- 1:50:39Speaker 5: look really good at times. I'm going to take the
- 1:50:41Speaker 5: Bengals at home.
- 1:50:43Speaker 4: But yeah, I'm going to take the Eagles just because
- 1:50:47Speaker 4: in this.
- 1:50:47Speaker 5: Game, I think we know what that because is.
- 1:50:49Speaker 4: Yep. And now we skip over the Patriots at one o'clock,
- 1:50:54Speaker 4: and it's a good time to remind everyone that it's
- 1:50:57Speaker 4: going to be apple picking, cider donut and hailing, cute goat, petting,
- 1:51:01Speaker 4: baby pig feeding, hay ride, taking kind of fall and
- 1:51:05Speaker 4: it's all made possible in Massachusetts. Come to where farm
- 1:51:09Speaker 4: life is the good life. Plan your trip at visit
- 1:51:12Speaker 4: MA dot com. So there you go. All right, So
- 1:51:18Speaker 4: we skipped over the Patriots at one o'clock. We're moving
- 1:51:21Speaker 4: to four oh five on Fox. The two and five
- 1:51:24Speaker 4: Saints are at the three and three Chargers the.
- 1:51:28Speaker 5: Black by seven.
- 1:51:31Speaker 6: Oh god, I got no idea on his what this game?
- 1:51:35Speaker 6: This is a tough pick.
- 1:51:38Speaker 5: You know. The Saints are like decimated.
- 1:51:40Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I know, that's why the spreads so bad.
- 1:51:43Speaker 6: I know I'm gonna take the Chargers, but I'm gonna
- 1:51:46Speaker 6: take those points for the or else.
- 1:51:49Speaker 5: Alex is taking the lack both ways.
- 1:51:51Speaker 2: I'm gonna do the same thing as dudes. I'm gonna
- 1:51:52Speaker 2: take the Chargers, but I'm gonna take the Saints to cover.
- 1:51:55Speaker 2: I did the Chargers last week. I actually watched a
- 1:51:58Speaker 2: little bit of that game, and they are not They're
- 1:52:01Speaker 2: kind of a disaster too.
- 1:52:02Speaker 5: So how do you like, I didn't see one play
- 1:52:04Speaker 5: of that game. This is like the danger of what
- 1:52:06Speaker 5: Fred's talking about when you just read the box. How
- 1:52:08Speaker 5: do they throw for like three hundred yards and not
- 1:52:10Speaker 5: score any points?
- 1:52:11Speaker 2: It was it was just one of those games where like,
- 1:52:14Speaker 2: you know, they just keep on shooting themselves in the
- 1:52:16Speaker 2: foot in scoring territory and you know, just doing weird stuff.
- 1:52:20Speaker 2: They kick like six field goals. I want to say
- 1:52:22Speaker 2: five or six field goals.
- 1:52:23Speaker 5: It was it was fumbled at the goal line.
- 1:52:26Speaker 2: Yeah, Rager fumbled at the goal line.
- 1:52:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:52:28Speaker 5: Like I want to take the Chargers both ways, but
- 1:52:31Speaker 5: I kind of agree with Evan and Mike. I just
- 1:52:33Speaker 5: they haven't scored, so I don't like laying a touchdown.
- 1:52:36Speaker 5: I'll take the Chargers to win, but I'll take the points.
- 1:52:39Speaker 5: And it was seven even seven.
- 1:52:41Speaker 4: Yeah, so the stops are telling you something there by
- 1:52:43Speaker 4: not giving you a hook. True, So seven even they're
- 1:52:48Speaker 4: they're very confident that the Chargers are going to cover
- 1:52:51Speaker 4: this game. They don't feel they need to give that
- 1:52:53Speaker 4: half to take people off the ledge. So this is chalk.
- 1:52:59Speaker 2: There you go.
- 1:52:59Speaker 4: This is chalk charges both ways. Four h five on Fox,
- 1:53:07Speaker 4: the five and two Bills are at the four and
- 1:53:12Speaker 4: three Seahawks.
- 1:53:13Speaker 2: At five and two.
- 1:53:14Speaker 5: Oh I saw it Buffalo by.
- 1:53:18Speaker 4: Three by three.
- 1:53:23Speaker 6: Something still off to me about them. I'm gonna takes
- 1:53:25Speaker 6: Seattle at home and I'm gonna get them some points
- 1:53:28Speaker 6: there as a home dog.
- 1:53:30Speaker 5: Alex takes Buffalo both ways.
- 1:53:33Speaker 2: I can't get Seattle right every I feel like I'm
- 1:53:36Speaker 2: wrong on them every single week. Probably gonna be wrong
- 1:53:39Speaker 2: with them again, but I'm sticking with Josh Allen. I'll
- 1:53:41Speaker 2: go at the Bills both ways.
- 1:53:42Speaker 17: Yeah.
- 1:53:42Speaker 5: I am the same with with Seattle every time I think,
- 1:53:45Speaker 5: well they they are who we thought they were and
- 1:53:47Speaker 5: win a game in Atlanta, like yeah, last week, I'm
- 1:53:50Speaker 5: gonna take I'm gonna take Buffalo. I don't think it'll
- 1:53:52Speaker 5: be an easy game for them in Seattle. Tough place
- 1:53:55Speaker 5: to play, but I will take the Bills.
- 1:53:56Speaker 4: Yeah, this is my Pella pick of the week. Seahawks
- 1:53:59Speaker 4: get us very good.
- 1:54:02Speaker 5: I might be the only one who got it, but
- 1:54:03Speaker 5: that was good.
- 1:54:04Speaker 4: Seahawks get a season defining win at home, they beat the.
- 1:54:09Speaker 2: Bills City say Capella, Pella.
- 1:54:11Speaker 4: Pella, windows close, get it, Anderson.
- 1:54:17Speaker 5: It would have been better if you said Anderson lock
- 1:54:19Speaker 5: of the week, But.
- 1:54:20Speaker 4: Nolla pella pick.
- 1:54:22Speaker 2: I'm guy myself.
- 1:54:25Speaker 4: I thinking of Anders.
- 1:54:26Speaker 5: So you know, Mike rolled his eyes to you. He's
- 1:54:28Speaker 5: too nice to do it while you're looking.
- 1:54:30Speaker 4: That's right, Yeah, yes, I would never. I would never
- 1:54:34Speaker 4: Seahawks pull off the big one.
- 1:54:37Speaker 24: Uh.
- 1:54:37Speaker 4: You know, the window has to start closing eventually, so
- 1:54:40Speaker 4: I got to start picking against them.
- 1:54:42Speaker 5: Uh.
- 1:54:42Speaker 4: Four CBS, the four and two Bears are at the
- 1:54:46Speaker 4: five and two Commanders.
- 1:54:48Speaker 5: Chicago by three.
- 1:54:50Speaker 2: No Jayden dan sounding like Marcus Mariota, which.
- 1:54:55Speaker 5: Kind of stinks. You want to see the man top two.
- 1:54:59Speaker 4: They looked at the schedule. I want to get this matchup,
- 1:55:03Speaker 4: and then they don't get it.
- 1:55:04Speaker 6: I'll take Chicago fread three. I'll take Chicago.
- 1:55:10Speaker 5: Alex takes Washington both ways, I'm.
- 1:55:13Speaker 2: Going to take Chicago both ways as well. I don't
- 1:55:15Speaker 2: have any faith in that offense without Jayden Daniels for Washington.
- 1:55:19Speaker 5: Yeah, and I don't know because I haven't seen much
- 1:55:22Speaker 5: of the Bears, but I've been told being told the
- 1:55:25Speaker 5: Bears defense has actually played pretty well, so I think
- 1:55:28Speaker 5: going against the backup quarterback, I'll take Chicago as well.
- 1:55:31Speaker 4: So here's what happens in Washington. Oh boy, Before the game,
- 1:55:35Speaker 4: Jayden Daniels comes and does a team meeting, and he says,
- 1:55:38Speaker 4: they're all saying it's because of a rookie quarterback. But
- 1:55:42Speaker 4: I'm telling you it ain't me, it's you. You guys
- 1:55:45Speaker 4: are gonna win this game without me. And they come
- 1:55:48Speaker 4: and they play well and they beat the Bears.
- 1:55:52Speaker 6: I got chills right there. I got chills.
- 1:55:54Speaker 5: Yeah, me, it's you. I invented It's not you, it's.
- 1:55:58Speaker 6: Me, all right.
- 1:56:00Speaker 4: So now we go to four twenty five CBS. The
- 1:56:03Speaker 4: one and six Panthers are at the four and three Broncos.
- 1:56:07Speaker 4: Where are they playing at home? It's unbelievable, you have,
- 1:56:12Speaker 4: I mean, how the league has gotten away with this
- 1:56:14Speaker 4: for thirty years. It's unbelievable.
- 1:56:17Speaker 17: You know.
- 1:56:17Speaker 5: The worst thing is it's Fred's favorite team too. The
- 1:56:19Speaker 5: Broncos used to be geez.
- 1:56:23Speaker 6: I'll take it to Denver. I'm gonna have to lay
- 1:56:25Speaker 6: those Oh Bryce Young, by the way, yeah, yeah, now
- 1:56:28Speaker 6: I'm gonna lay the points Denver. That's a big spread.
- 1:56:32Speaker 5: Alex takes Denver, but she's taking the nine and a half.
- 1:56:35Speaker 2: I'm gonna do the same thing. Bryce Young has an
- 1:56:38Speaker 2: okay game for the Panthers in this one. I think
- 1:56:41Speaker 2: you heard it here first. Nothing special, just okay.
- 1:56:46Speaker 5: I'm gonna take Denver both ways. That I just can't
- 1:56:50Speaker 5: pick the Panthers right even.
- 1:56:51Speaker 4: Yeah, No, you take the Broncos to win this game,
- 1:56:54Speaker 4: but you take those points, those nine and a half points.
- 1:56:57Speaker 4: That hook is the difference.
- 1:57:00Speaker 5: Brings you back, Yeah, brings you back.
- 1:57:03Speaker 4: Mike Cbs, the six and oh Chiefs the only undefeated
- 1:57:09Speaker 4: team left, and the two and five Raiders.
- 1:57:13Speaker 5: Kansas City by nine and a half.
- 1:57:16Speaker 6: Shoes, I'm definitely picking Kansas City. Yeah, I'm not. I'm
- 1:57:23Speaker 6: not messing with those points. I'll lay them.
- 1:57:25Speaker 5: Alex is Kansas City both ways.
- 1:57:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I got the same thing, Kansas City both ways.
- 1:57:31Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm gonna be with the with you guys.
- 1:57:33Speaker 4: Casey Chiefs moved to seven and oh.
- 1:57:36Speaker 5: No division game doesn't matter anymore, Okay, moving.
- 1:57:38Speaker 4: On, it's sometimes it does. It's about the feel.
- 1:57:42Speaker 5: Moving on, It's about the feel for the league.
- 1:57:45Speaker 4: Eight thirty on Sunday night, and be sure Telemundo and
- 1:57:50Speaker 4: Universo m Peacock, the n Peacock. The three and three
- 1:57:53Speaker 4: Cowboys are at the three and four forty nine.
- 1:57:57Speaker 5: Ers San Francisco by foe.
- 1:57:59Speaker 2: That's its price.
- 1:58:02Speaker 6: Oh boy, I don't know. Didn't like, didn't like what
- 1:58:06Speaker 6: I saw from San Francis.
- 1:58:09Speaker 5: Job coaching for a job.
- 1:58:11Speaker 6: They're up against it. I'm gonna say they bounce back.
- 1:58:13Speaker 6: I'll take San fran later points.
- 1:58:17Speaker 5: Alex takes San Francisco both ways.
- 1:58:19Speaker 4: This is a tough one.
- 1:58:20Speaker 5: I'm gonna I'm gonna can ever make a pick?
- 1:58:23Speaker 4: Oh sorry, that's it? Yeah, go ahead and then me okay,
- 1:58:26Speaker 4: go ahead, okay. Evan wanted me to say what I
- 1:58:32Speaker 4: was gonna do so that he could copy me.
- 1:58:33Speaker 2: That's true. It's a good point, so true. I'm gonna
- 1:58:36Speaker 2: go forty nine ers both ways. I'm surprised that it's
- 1:58:38Speaker 2: only four.
- 1:58:39Speaker 5: Yeah, I think the Dallas defense with all those guys out, Yeah,
- 1:58:44Speaker 5: San Francisco both ways.
- 1:58:47Speaker 4: No, I'm I'm gonna I'm gonna take those points, Paul, Okay,
- 1:58:52Speaker 4: take those points.
- 1:58:53Speaker 5: That's where you're leading the way.
- 1:58:54Speaker 4: I love it when the Cowboys lose, and they will,
- 1:58:57Speaker 4: but they're gonna cover the spread.
- 1:59:00Speaker 5: Okay, I'm gonna say if they cover the spread, they
- 1:59:03Speaker 5: went out.
- 1:59:03Speaker 4: Right, Okay, if it's possible, I was thinking of taking
- 1:59:06Speaker 4: them out right.
- 1:59:07Speaker 5: I don't think.
- 1:59:07Speaker 4: Yeah, it sounds like the forty nine ers are like
- 1:59:09Speaker 4: on a hot streak either.
- 1:59:11Speaker 5: No Monday Night eight.
- 1:59:13Speaker 4: Fifteen ESPN, ABC, ESPN two, ESPN Plus and ESPN Deportes. Uhcock, No,
- 1:59:23Speaker 4: it's sea not this time what. I'm glad they're not
- 1:59:26Speaker 4: doing the double header. I don't like the double header anymore.
- 1:59:29Speaker 4: If you're gonna do a double header, start one at
- 1:59:31Speaker 4: seven and then the other one at eight thirty, not
- 1:59:34Speaker 4: nine to fifteen. Remember the old Monday night football first
- 1:59:37Speaker 4: start o'clock. They start at nine to fifteen. The kickoff.
- 1:59:41Speaker 2: Too late, got gret l Well.
- 1:59:43Speaker 5: I just don't like it. Last week when they put
- 1:59:45Speaker 5: the game on the SPN Plus, you can't click back and.
- 1:59:48Speaker 2: Forth, right, I knew that was CONN Right now.
- 1:59:51Speaker 5: When you have the double header, like the beauty of
- 1:59:53Speaker 5: that is I can watch them both back. But now
- 1:59:57Speaker 5: if I have to pick one of the games, if
- 1:59:58Speaker 5: you're going to put one on a.
- 1:59:59Speaker 6: Platform, I totally understood this was America.
- 2:00:02Speaker 5: I thought this was America. Too many Pittsburgh by six
- 2:00:06Speaker 5: and a half.
- 2:00:07Speaker 4: Two and five Giants at the five and two Steelers,
- 2:00:09Speaker 4: Pittsburgh by six.
- 2:00:11Speaker 2: Such a fun game to Russ Cook.
- 2:00:14Speaker 6: Give me this.
- 2:00:15Speaker 5: Let's see how many moon balls rusk and throw that
- 2:00:17Speaker 5: hit the Jets first and ended up in George Pickens's hands.
- 2:00:20Speaker 6: I'll take it.
- 2:00:21Speaker 2: That's a good player, though, George Pickens.
- 2:00:23Speaker 5: Pittsburgh both ways. Alex is with Mike.
- 2:00:29Speaker 2: I am as well. I feel like this is a
- 2:00:31Speaker 2: game that Daniel Jones against the Steelers defense is like
- 2:00:35Speaker 2: deer in headlights. So I'm taking Steelers, Danielle.
- 2:00:39Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm gonna I don't know why I'm gonna take
- 2:00:42Speaker 5: Pittsburgh to win the game, but I'll take the points.
- 2:00:44Speaker 5: I really have no rational explanation as to why. Just
- 2:00:47Speaker 5: want of Fred Kersh's feels.
- 2:00:49Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm gonna take I'm gonna take Pittsburgh both ways
- 2:00:52Speaker 4: in this game. All right. Now we move back to
- 2:00:57Speaker 4: Sunday at one on CBS. The two and five Jets
- 2:01:02Speaker 4: at the one and six Patriots.
- 2:01:05Speaker 6: Jets by seven, Jets by seven. Yeah, hard to pick
- 2:01:10Speaker 6: the Patriots after that performance last week. I'm gonna have
- 2:01:13Speaker 6: to do it. I'm gonna have to pick the Jets. Unfortunately,
- 2:01:16Speaker 6: I'll take them thirty to twenty.
- 2:01:19Speaker 5: Alex picks the Jets both ways.
- 2:01:22Speaker 2: I'm also gonna take the Jets. I think that what
- 2:01:25Speaker 2: scares me more, honestly, is Rogers and the offense against
- 2:01:29Speaker 2: the Patriots defense. I think that the Patriots offense will
- 2:01:33Speaker 2: have some moments in this game with Drake may So
- 2:01:36Speaker 2: it was twenty four to three last time. I'm gonna
- 2:01:38Speaker 2: say twenty four to fourteen this time. Jets.
- 2:01:43Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean, I'm I'm with the boys. I think
- 2:01:47Speaker 5: there's a huge talent discrepancy here, even if the Jets
- 2:01:50Speaker 5: are missing a lot of those pieces they were missing
- 2:01:52Speaker 5: last week. On defense, I think they'll have enough, and
- 2:01:57Speaker 5: I don't like what I've seen from the defense. I
- 2:01:59Speaker 5: think Evan's right, you know. I think Aaron Rodgers will
- 2:02:02Speaker 5: be able to throw it, and I think they'll be
- 2:02:03Speaker 5: able to run it once they established the lead. I'm
- 2:02:06Speaker 5: going to go twenty seven sixteen Jets.
- 2:02:10Speaker 4: The future on Mayo, do you put a call into
- 2:02:12Speaker 4: Robert Sala this week and say, hey, any he.
- 2:02:15Speaker 2: Actually is in an advisor role now with a different team.
- 2:02:18Speaker 2: Oh is he so?
- 2:02:19Speaker 4: Okay? I guess he can't do that.
- 2:02:20Speaker 2: I can't remember off the top of my head which team.
- 2:02:22Speaker 4: It is, but I'm at Green Bay, wasn't.
- 2:02:24Speaker 2: He might have been green San Francisco, right, I think
- 2:02:26Speaker 2: it's Green Bank.
- 2:02:27Speaker 5: He came from San Francisco.
- 2:02:28Speaker 4: No, I know, but he was seen at the Green
- 2:02:30Speaker 4: Bay practice. Okay, So six and a hey you say seven? Seven? Yeah,
- 2:02:38Speaker 4: Patriots don't win the game, but they cover thirty to
- 2:02:41Speaker 4: twenty four. So we come out of this game st
- 2:02:46Speaker 4: excited about Drake May So, so there you go. All right,
- 2:02:52Speaker 4: So that's the picks, that's the show. That's the week.
