  John chapter 17, let us pray, O Lord, our God, who reigns on

  high, we thank you, Father, for all the many blessings that
• 0:12
  you've already given to us today.
• 0:14
  We thank you for leading us in paths of righteousness.
• 0:18
  God, we thank you for preparing A banquet for us in the presence
• 0:22
  of our enemies. Lord, we just desire more of
• 0:25
  you. We desire to be enveloped by
• 0:28
  Your glory and your holiness. God, we want to be found as your
• 0:32
  hands and feet to this world. Father, I pray that you will
• 0:36
  help us to love you more. Help us to love our neighbor as
• 0:40
  our self. God, I pray that we will build
• 0:44
  each other up. God, the church at large.
• 0:46
  Lord, we pray for. Lord, we ask for you to
• 0:49
  strengthen us in this hour. Lord, strengthen us for the
• 0:52
  battle. Help us to love well.
• 0:54
  Help us to finish well. Help us to know you, Lord, in
• 0:58
  all of your ways and all your facets, in the myriad of ways
• 1:02
  that you desire to teach us and to sanctify us and to grow us up
• 1:08
  into the fullness that you have for us.
• 1:12
  God, I pray that we could consecrate this temple and get
• 1:15
  rid of all of the malice and all of the evil, all of the
• 1:18
  slandering, all of the worry and doubt.
• 1:21
  God, all of the worldliness, Lord, that just tries to creep
• 1:25
  in. God, we stiff arm and push
• 1:27
  against that Father, and we take back enemy territory in the name
• 1:32
  of Jesus. God, we pray right now against
• 1:34
  the spirit of suicide. We pray against the spirit of
• 1:39
  self mutilation, God, we pray against the spirit of deceit,
• 1:44
  Lord, we pray against the spirit of pornography, Lord, we pray
• 1:49
  against the spirit, Lord of all lies.
• 1:53
  And Lord, we just desire for you to come in and shine light upon
• 2:00
  all of the things that we have allowed into our lives that does
• 2:04
  not belong. God, I pray that we can let go
• 2:08
  of our past, that we can trust you for the future, and God that
• 2:13
  we can remain in this gift of the present, Lord of today and
• 2:17
  let tomorrow worry about itself. God.
• 2:20
  But we are content with food and clothing for today.
• 2:24
  Lord, we know that you're providing all of our sustenance,
• 2:27
  Lord, and we desire manna from heaven.
• 2:30
  We desire, God to be fed into feast, Lord, on your word today.
• 2:37
  Lord, let us drink deep from the water, God, the living water.
• 2:44
  God, I pray that we can eat and be completely satiated.
• 2:49
  God with this bread of life. Father, I pray that we, Lord,
• 2:56
  we'll honor you and glorify your holy name as we get into your
• 3:01
  good book, as we get into the word of God, your word.
• 3:05
  Father, I pray in the name of Jesus, Lord, you'll heal our
• 3:09
  broken bodies, heal broken marriages.
• 3:12
  Lord, bring the prodigals home. Father, protect those on the
• 3:15
  front lines. Lord, I pray for righteous
• 3:19
  leaders to rise up over this land.
• 3:22
  Father, I pray that your will will be done Lord and all things
• 3:28
  keep us from the evil one God keep us from all of the things
• 3:33
  that easily entangle and ensnare us.
• 3:35
  God, keep us from our own dungeon that we have made inside
• 3:39
  of our own minds. God, I pray that we could push
• 3:42
  back against that God and be salt and light Lord and and walk
• 3:46
  in freedom Lord, walk in the Spirit.
• 3:49
  God, I pray all of these things in the mighty name of Jesus
• 3:52
  Christ, Amen. Let's start in verse one.
• 4:01
  These words spoke Jesus and lifted up his eyes to heaven and
• 4:07
  said, Father, the hour has come, glorify your son that your son
• 4:15
  also may glorify you. So here, this is the greatest
• 4:19
  prayer that has ever been prayed on planet earth, period.
• 4:23
  This is Jesus, Jesus. And what you're going to see
• 4:27
  throughout this entire chapter is the communion that the Son
• 4:32
  had with the Father from eternal, and he's speaking with
• 4:36
  such authority, friends. And we really need to hone in,
• 4:41
  to lock in, to pay attention to every single syllable, every
• 4:47
  single jot and title. This is the culmination of all
• 4:55
  things glorious. And as a side note, you're going
• 5:00
  to see glory all throughout this chapter.
• 5:04
  And glory is the presence of God Almighty.
• 5:09
  It is the most magnificent. It is unlike anything that your
• 5:15
  mind can even conceive. It is overwhelming,
• 5:19
  overpowering, overshadowing. It is to where the ministers
• 5:25
  can't even minister because the glory of God Almighty.
• 5:29
  And Jesus knew that He was going to the cross for glory, and it
• 5:35
  was to be glorified, and He desires to be back in that glory
• 5:39
  with the Father. Verse 2 as you have given Him
• 5:45
  power over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as
• 5:50
  many as you have given him. So here verse 2 is an amazing
• 5:56
  verse. We see that all authority and
• 5:59
  all power has been given to the Son.
• 6:02
  We we see that all nations and all people groups, all languages
• 6:06
  and tongues are given over to Jesus Christ to as many as will
• 6:12
  believe on him. And God already knows who will
• 6:16
  believe on him. And you can see it here as he
• 6:19
  says as many as you have given him.
• 6:22
  So God knows who belongs to him and he's bringing them into the
• 6:25
  fold. Three, and this is life eternal,
• 6:30
  that they might know you, the only true God and Jesus Christ
• 6:36
  whom you have sent. So you can see that God and
• 6:39
  Jesus are one. You can see here that there is
• 6:43
  only one true living God, and it is the God of Abraham, Isaac,
• 6:47
  and Jacob. It is the Judeo-christian God,
• 6:50
  it is Yahweh Adonai. There is no other competition.
• 6:56
  He is the only God, and you shall have no other gods besides
• 7:00
  Him. And he is a jealous God.
• 7:04
  For I have glorified you on the earth.
• 7:08
  I have finished the work which you have gave me to do.
• 7:13
  So you can see here that Jesus is communing with the Father and
• 7:19
  He's saying my hour has come and he's Speaking of it as already
• 7:25
  finished. Even though he still has to go
• 7:28
  to Gethsemane, even though he still has to go to Golgotha, He
• 7:33
  is Speaking of it because he is set his face like a Flint,
• 7:38
  friends, and he knows that he is to glorify the Father through
• 7:42
  this humiliation, this embarrassment.
• 7:46
  He is going to the cross for what the world would say was
• 7:50
  shameful, but he knew it was glory in the highest and it was
• 7:55
  honoring the Father, and it was bringing about your salvation
• 8:00
  and my salvation. This spotless, blameless Lamb
• 8:05
  who was led to the slaughter and was silent before his shears.
• 8:09
  And you can see here Jesus knew what He was to do.
• 8:17
  Five. And now, O Father, glorify you,
• 8:21
  Me with your own self, with the glory which I had with You
• 8:26
  before the world was. What an idea here, friends.
• 8:31
  Jesus had this glory before the world was even created.
• 8:38
  You can see the love of the Father, the love of the Son, the
• 8:42
  love of the Holy Ghost, all together 3 in one, in constant
• 8:47
  communion with each other. You can see it here before the
• 8:51
  earth even was, before creation even happened.
• 8:57
  You can see this communion with Father, Son, with the Father,
• 9:03
  with the Son, and with the Holy Ghost.
• 9:05
  You can see it all together, friends, and it is beautiful,
• 9:10
  and it is congruent. 6 I have manifested your name unto the
• 9:14
  men which you gave me out of the world.
• 9:18
  Nine they were, and you gave them me, and they have kept your
• 9:23
  word. So here he is speaking highly
• 9:25
  for these 11 disciples. Judas has already left to go
• 9:30
  sell the Lord out for 30 pieces of silver.
• 9:34
  And here you can see that He is speaking highly and He is
• 9:40
  actually interceding for His 11 disciples.
• 9:43
  And Jesus is interceding for you and for me.
• 9:47
  He sits at the right hand of the Father.
• 9:49
  He went to prepare a place for us and He intercedes on our
• 9:52
  behalf. He prays for us even when we
• 9:55
  don't even know what to pray. And we have kept His word.

  Are you keeping the word of God? Are you not muddling it?
• 10:05
  Are you not watering it down? We need to keep the whole word,
• 10:09
  the pure Word. We need to make sure that we are
• 10:13
  found with teaching Genesis all the way to Revelation.
• 10:17
  Nothing added and nothing taken out.
• 10:21
  The entire council of God's Word has full authority and it is the
• 10:26
  power, friends, for people to get saved.
• 10:30
  We do not need to add or subtract.
• 10:34
  It is complete and we need to keep it. 7 Now they have known
• 10:42
  that all things whatsoever you have given me are of you.
• 10:47
  So they knew that Jesus Christ was the Son of God, and they
• 10:51
  knew that God was well pleased. And they had heard audible
• 10:54
  voices and they had seen the miracles and dead people raised
• 10:58
  back to life. They had seen it, and they
• 11:01
  understood it at this point. 8 For I have given unto them the
• 11:08
  words which you gave me, and they have received them, and
• 11:14
  have surely that I came out from you, and they have believed that
• 11:20
  you did send me. They have surely known that He
• 11:26
  was from the Father, and they received Jesus Christ as their
• 11:31
  Lord. 9 I pray for them. I pray not for the world, but
• 11:41
  for them, which you have given me, for they are yours.
• 11:46
  So you can see here that Jesus says that these disciples
• 11:53
  believed on Him. They were keeping His word and
• 11:57
  He's specifically praying for these 11 disciples, these
• 12:03
  unlearned men, the apostles, which were sent out as
• 12:06
  messengers to the world and flipped over the entire world
• 12:13
  with just eleven men. And you can see here that it is
• 12:17
  an exponential growth as these eleven men believed on Him and
• 12:22
  looked 2000 years later, we're still talking about him.
• 12:27
  We're still worshipping him in spirit and truth.
• 12:31
  And it all started right here in Jesus obedience, friends.
• 12:36
  It disarmed all of darkness and put him to public spectacle and
• 12:44
  he was going to snatch the keys and he was going to bring about
• 12:51
  all of the salvation of those who will ever believe on him.
• 12:55
  And he's not praying just for the whole world here.
• 13:00
  He's praying for his disciples and those who will believe.
• 13:04
  He's specifically drilling it down to us as believers. 10 and
• 13:15
  all mine are yours, and yours are mine, and I am glorified in
• 13:24
  them. So he knew that these disciples,
• 13:27
  we're going to rise up and go out and suffer horrible deaths,
• 13:33
  and it would spread the gospel like wildfire, friends.
• 13:38
  And here we are still talking about it. 11 And now I am no
• 13:44
  more in the world, but these are in the world.
• 13:49
  And I come to you, Holy Father, keep through your own name those
• 13:57
  whom you have given me, that they may be one as we are.
• 14:03
  So you can see here that Jesus is speaking as if he's already
• 14:06
  taken up and out of this world. He's already ascended.
• 14:11
  And by the way, we are seated with Him in heavenly places.
• 14:16
  Not will be seated, but those of us who are believers, we are
• 14:21
  already seated with Him in heavenly places.
• 14:24
  And you can see it here as Jesus is praying on the earth.
• 14:29
  He has not even went to suffer yet, and he is saying that he is
• 14:34
  already out of this world. And I pray that you understand
• 14:39
  that you are not of this world. It is good for the boat to be in
• 14:43
  the water, but it is not good for the water to be in the boat.
• 14:46
  We were made for such a greater purpose than just this earth and
• 14:53
  we would do well to leave and exit out of the menial mundane
• 14:59
  thinking of just worldly wealth and worldly wisdom.
• 15:06
  And we need to come up to the heights that Jesus desires for
• 15:11
  us to come up to and have the bird's eye view, have the
• 15:14
  helicopter view of Scripture, and have the helicopter view of
• 15:18
  humanity and the purposes and the timelines and the
• 15:24
  prophecies. We need to come up and out of
• 15:27
  this world. Do not love this world or
• 15:30
  anything in this world. Do not be stained by this world.
• 15:37
  12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in your name.
• 15:45
  Those that you gave me I have kept, and none of them is lost,
• 15:49
  but the son of perdition, that the scripture might be
• 15:53
  fulfilled. So Scripture wrote about Judas
• 15:56
  and what he was going to do before Judas was ever even born.
• 16:03
  And you can see here that Judas had free will and he could have
• 16:07
  chose not to sell our Lord out. It does not excuse him, but
• 16:13
  because of his evil propensities and his disbelief that Jesus
• 16:18
  Christ was Lord, it caused him to be wrapped up in selfish
• 16:24
  greed. And he was the Son of damnation.
• 16:28
  And it was written about before he was even born.
• 16:33
  And all scripture will be fulfilled to the letter exactly
• 16:37
  the way that it says that it will.
• 16:39
  And we need to know that these things must happen, but woe to
• 16:45
  the one whom they come through. It would have been better for
• 16:48
  him to tie a millstone around his neck. 13 And now I come to
• 16:56
  you, and these things I speak in the world, that they might have
• 17:01
  my joy fulfilled in themselves. That is what we get when we come
• 17:06
  to the Lord. Jesus Christ is joy, friends,
• 17:11
  the joy that was set before him. We get to take it, friends.
• 17:15
  We get to have it and wear it. We get it in the low and we get
• 17:20
  it in the high. We get it in the middle,
• 17:22
  friends. His joy is not dependent upon
• 17:30
  our circumstances. His joy can be found in
• 17:34
  bankruptcy. His joy can be found in divorce.
• 17:38
  His joy can be found in sickness.
• 17:41
  His joy can be found in legal movements and trials.
• 17:47
  His joy can be found in incarceration.
• 17:50
  His joy can be found in joblessness.
• 17:55
  His joy can be found in homelessness.
• 17:58
  His joy can be found in the negative things of life.
• 18:07
  We can have it, friends, and no one can take it from us.
• 18:11
  It comes from Him and He offers it to us.
• 18:15
  But we must quiet all of the negativity that's coming our way
• 18:22
  and the despondency and the discontentment that tries to
• 18:25
  steal it. Friends, we must silence all of
• 18:29
  the accusations of the enemy that's trying to come against
• 18:33
  us. And you have to be aware that
• 18:37
  the negativity that is trying to get spoken into your mind and
• 18:43
  into your heart is not from God. This condemnation is not from
• 18:48
  God. You must be able to see it for
• 18:53
  what it is, call it what it is. You must be able to recognize it
• 18:57
  when it comes into the temple and not latch on to it.
• 19:02
  But we need to have joy in His presence.
• 19:05
  And it is from entering His gates with praise and
• 19:09
  Thanksgiving. It is seeing all of the many
• 19:12
  miracles that Jesus is doing all around you.
• 19:16
  It's understanding your position, your inheritance.
• 19:21
  It's understanding that the blood of Jesus Christ is the
• 19:25
  atonement for your sins. It's understanding that you
• 19:28
  can't work your way into heaven. It's understanding that He is
• 19:33
  the all sufficient sacrifice. And it is understanding that we
• 19:38
  will bust heaven wide open and be there in His presence, and He
• 19:42
  can come in us as the Holy Spirit now and give us this joy.
• 19:48
  If we will allow Him and cleanse the temple and allow Him to
• 19:52
  sanctify us as we go through this life, we can have that joy
• 19:57
  and it can be fulfilled. 14 I have given them your word, and
• 20:03
  the world has hated them, because they are not of the
• 20:08
  world, even as I am not of the world.
• 20:12
  So it is no surprise, friends, because the world hated Christ
• 20:17
  and put him to death. It is no surprise that the joy
• 20:21
  and the contentment and the communion and the constant
• 20:25
  prayer life that you desire is snatched away constantly,
• 20:32
  consistently, all the time through advertisements, through
• 20:36
  distractions, through the love of money, through the love of
• 20:39
  position and power, through worldliness.
• 20:42
  Friends, we need to be able to see it.
• 20:45
  We need to be able to move outside of that.
• 20:47
  We need to be able to push that down.
• 20:50
  We need to be able to identify it and we need to be able to get
• 20:54
  rid of it, cast it away from you, get it out of the temple
• 20:59
  for it's not of God. Do not be surprised whenever you
• 21:03
  desire to do good, but you cannot find the will to do so.
• 21:09
  For I do the things that I don't want to do, and I don't do the
• 21:13
  things that I do want to do. And you can see it all played
• 21:17
  out, friends. And Jesus says, don't be
• 21:20
  surprised if the world hates you.
• 21:23
  They hated Him first, and this is subtle persecution with all
• 21:29
  of the things that are trying to vie for your attention and get
• 21:33
  you out of The Walking in the spirit that you so desire, but
• 21:39
  you cannot find the strength to do so.
• 21:41
  It is by the washing of the Word over your mind, friends, that we
• 21:45
  can be renewed and we can walk in strength and we can walk in
• 21:51
  the Spirit. Do not be part, do not be
• 21:56
  stained by this world. Do not let the water come into
• 21:59
  the boat. 15 I pray not that you should take them out of the
• 22:03
  world, but that you should keep them from the evil.
• 22:06
  So this is the plan. Jesus says that we should not be
• 22:12
  in a huge hurry to end our lives prematurely.
• 22:18
  If you woke up this morning, God's not done with the work
• 22:24
  that He has for you on this earth.
• 22:26
  He has you here for a very specific purpose, a very
• 22:30
  specific reason, and it is our responsibility to go to Him,
• 22:36
  acknowledge Him, and let Him direct our steps for today.
• 22:40
  You don't know if you're going to get tomorrow.
• 22:43
  Let today be sufficient. Let the cares of today be
• 22:47
  sufficient. Let tomorrow worry about itself
• 22:51
  and you need to know that He knows every hair on your head,
• 22:56
  He knows every breath that you will take, and you are part of
• 23:02
  His plan and you are His hands and feet and He has worked for
• 23:05
  you to do today. There's someone that you need to
• 23:08
  share your testimony with. There's someone that you need to
• 23:13
  tell about the goodness of God and the love of Jesus Christ.
• 23:17
  That is your purpose. That is why you were here.
• 23:20
  We are all called to full time ministry to our raising our
• 23:25
  prayer life to a vibrancy unlike anything that we've experienced
• 23:30
  is as of yet. We need to know that he has us
• 23:33
  here for very specific reasons and he's saying he his desire is
• 23:38
  not to take us up and out prematurely.
• 23:42
  It is to leave us here and to keep us from the evil. 1 You can
• 23:47
  see this is an expansion of the model prayer, the Lord's Prayer
• 23:53
  that he gave to his disciples. 16 They are not of the world,
• 23:59
  even as I am not of the world. So we need to know that,
• 24:03
  friends, we are called to higher heights as believers, as blood
• 24:10
  believers covered in the blood of Jesus Christ.
• 24:13
  We are called to operate in the spirit of the Lord.
• 24:21
  We are called to operate as his messengers to the world.
• 24:27
  We're not to be overtaken by evil.
• 24:31
  We are not to be overtaken by selfish desires.
• 24:35
  We need to know that with food and clothing to be content.
• 24:40
  We need to know that God has called us into the mission
• 24:44
  field. God has called us to go and take
• 24:48
  the whole word to the whole world, and that is our purpose
• 24:52
  for this hour and for this day. 17 Sanctify them through your
• 25:00
  truth. Your word is truth.
• 25:03
  And we know that he's Speaking of himself because Jesus Christ
• 25:07
  is Word and Jesus Christ is truth, and he's saying through
• 25:12
  the Word of God we will be sanctified.
• 25:15
  We will be made more like Jesus Christ as we get into this Word
• 25:19
  and let the Word get into US. Eighteen, as you have sent me
• 25:26
  into the world, Even so I have sent them into the world.
• 25:30
  So that is our call. Friends take the whole word to
• 25:33
  the whole world and teach them and make disciples and baptize
• 25:37
  them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Ghost.
• 25:42
  We need to make sure we're on this disciple cycle, that we're
• 25:45
  disciples that are making disciples that make disciples
• 25:49
  friends. 19 And for their sake I sanctify myself, that they also
• 25:55
  might be sanctified through the truth.
• 25:58
  So here Jesus knows that the culmination of his earthly
• 26:02
  ministry is at hand, and he has arrived.
• 26:08
  He has the fullness of the Godhead in bodily form, and you
• 26:14
  can see here that He is going to offer Himself up.
• 26:19
  And it is for our sanctification.
• 26:22
  It is for the truth to be revealed in our hearts and minds
• 26:26
  so that we can be indwelled with the Holy Spirit. 20 Neither pray
• 26:32
  I for these alone, for them also which shall believe on me
• 26:38
  through their word. That is the proclamation, that
• 26:42
  is the declaration. That is our mandate.
• 26:45
  That is what we are called to do friends, is to take the whole
• 26:50
  word to the whole world so that those that are in the fire can
• 26:54
  be snatched out as firebrands. Those that will believe on the
• 26:58
  name of the Lord Jesus Christ and be saved.
• 27:02
  That is our mandate, is to speak the word.
• 27:06
  Don't add anything to it. Don't take anything out of it.
• 27:11
  It is the full complete authority of God that is
• 27:15
  profitable to save men. Call upon that name today and be
• 27:20
  saved. Believe that God raised Jesus
• 27:23
  Christ from the dead and be saved.
• 27:25
  Look at Him and be saved today, and then be constantly renewed
• 27:32
  in that every single moment of every single day for the rest of
• 27:36
  your life. 21 That they all may be one, as you, Father, are in
• 27:52
  me, and I in you. That they also may be one in US.
• 27:59
  That the world may believe that you have sent me.
• 28:03
  So can you even imagine the responsibility and the gravity
• 28:08
  of this passage? Can you even start to believe
• 28:11
  it? That our oneness points the
• 28:15
  whole world to Jesus Christ? If there is dissension and
• 28:21
  division and discord in the church, why in the world would
• 28:30
  the world want to believe anything that we have to say?
• 28:35
  If we are duplicious and we are hypocrites in our approach to
• 28:40
  the world and we are backbiters and slanderers and gossips, if
• 28:45
  we are liars and thieves, why in the world would the world
• 28:52
  believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, whom we say that we
• 28:56
  believe in, when our lives look no different than theirs and
• 28:59
  they are in their own minds free from conviction?
• 29:07
  In their own minds, by believing in nothing or believing in the
• 29:13
  satanic realm. They believe that they are more
• 29:18
  pious than we are because they look at the believers and we are
• 29:23
  ripping each other apart. Far be it from us friends.
• 29:27
  This calls for unity in the community.
• 29:30
  We need to come together as one church capital C to be His hands
• 29:36
  and feet to this lost and dying world all around us and to
• 29:41
  snatch people out of hell. And we need to make sure that we
• 29:47
  are the ministers of reconciliation for our families
• 29:51
  and our communities, for our neighbors and neighborhoods, and
• 29:55
  for the world at large. Friends, we are called to model
• 30:00
  and mirror Jesus Christ Ministry 22 and the glory which you gave
• 30:14
  me, I have given them that. They may be 1 even as we are
• 30:21
  one. So you can see here, friends,
• 30:23
  that this glory is available to us and it is the glory that
• 30:29
  Jesus Christ had with the Father before the foundations of the
• 30:33
  earth. This glory that is all
• 30:36
  encapsulating as you move in obedience to the Word of God, as
• 30:42
  you move in obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ and what is
• 30:47
  revealed to us, you will find yourself being enveloped with
• 30:53
  God's glory and radiating his goodness and grace and mercy and
• 30:58
  love and joy. And it cannot be hidden, cannot
• 31:03
  be put under a bushel, friends. It must put be put on a
• 31:08
  lampstand to give light to the whole world. 23I in them, and
• 31:19
  you in me, that they may be made perfect in one, and that the
• 31:26
  world may know that you have sent me and have loved them as
• 31:30
  you have loved me. So you can see here he is
• 31:33
  drilling down this idea of oneness within the church.
• 31:38
  You can see that there is a grave responsibility for us to
• 31:43
  be congruent in our thoughts and we need to agree on the main
• 31:47
  things that Jesus Christ is the only way and that God Almighty
• 31:54
  is the one true living God. We need to know that there's
• 32:01
  only one way to the Father and that is through his Son Jesus
• 32:05
  Christ. We need to make sure that we are
• 32:09
  one in our theology when it comes to how to be saved
• 32:16
  friends. And we can.
• 32:18
  We can sit and debate about the things that are not salvific.
• 32:25
  We can have wonderful conversations with each other of
• 32:30
  our convictions, and that is profitable and it's beautiful
• 32:36
  and it edifies the Saints and it pleases the Lord whenever we
• 32:40
