- 0:05Speaker 1: NFL Now is a production of the NFL in partnership
- 0:08Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio. NFL Now presentibay IQ is showing you Kansas City,
- 0:21Speaker 1: everybody where we are.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Let's do the math.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Andrew I messed it up last hour, twenty nine hours
- 0:26Speaker 1: away from the first overall pick of the twenty twenty
- 0:30Speaker 1: three NFL Draft. Cannot wait for it to get here.
- 0:35Speaker 1: The Carolina Panthers say they have already figured out who
- 0:38Speaker 1: it is they're going to take.
- 0:39Speaker 2: But they won't tell us. We'll figure out tomorrow.
- 0:42Speaker 1: That's Steve whitch My name is Andrews Ciciliano. We are
- 0:44Speaker 1: here in the studio in Los Angeles where it was
- 0:47Speaker 1: a surreal day, a day that we're gonna remember for
- 0:50Speaker 1: a long time in the history of this National Football League.
- 0:52Speaker 1: A day in which Steve Whitche Aaron Rodgers showed up
- 0:57Speaker 1: in New York, held up a number eight Jets jersey
- 1:01Speaker 1: and was on the podium.
- 1:02Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:02Speaker 4: I mean again, if I'm a Packers fan, I'm listening
- 1:05Speaker 4: here like, oh my gosh, I can't believe what I'm saying.
- 1:07Speaker 4: Then I'm a Jets fan, I'm like, I can't believe.
- 1:10Speaker 2: What I'm saying.
- 1:11Speaker 4: It's Aaron Rodgers and the energy and everything that they
- 1:15Speaker 4: showed right there. Andrew he's happy to be there, he's
- 1:18Speaker 4: motivated to be there. He's going to be there all
- 1:20Speaker 4: off season. So just a lot of positive signs for
- 1:24Speaker 4: the Jets here.
- 1:24Speaker 2: And a lot to unpack as well from that press
- 1:26Speaker 2: or roll.
- 1:27Speaker 5: It they smoked us last year, so I knew they
- 1:31Speaker 5: had a good team. We got to practice against them
- 1:35Speaker 5: a couple of years ago, and I got to get
- 1:36Speaker 5: to know Robert a little bit more, and I've always
- 1:39Speaker 5: loved what he's all about. We played him in San
- 1:40Speaker 5: fran a few times and mostly they got the best
- 1:43Speaker 5: of us, but I liked the way that he was leading,
- 1:48Speaker 5: his coaching style. A big reason I'm here, I got
- 1:52Speaker 5: to mention, is Nathaniel Hackett, who's here. Hacke and I
- 1:54Speaker 5: became really close friends for three excuse me, three years
- 1:58Speaker 5: in Green Bay, and I love him like a brother
- 2:02Speaker 5: and I believe in him, and I'm really happy to
- 2:06Speaker 5: be back working with him again. Obviously, Joe's got a
- 2:08Speaker 5: great track record so far. I've drafted some incredible players,
- 2:12Speaker 5: but it takes a system, and obviously Robert has the
- 2:17Speaker 5: right sauce. So I'm excited about getting to work with
- 2:19Speaker 5: him and Brick and Mark Kwan, former teammate of mine,
- 2:23Speaker 5: and it's a great staff. But you know old I'm
- 2:26Speaker 5: an old guy, so I want to be a part
- 2:27Speaker 5: of a team that could win it all, and I
- 2:29Speaker 5: believe that this is a place we can get that done.
- 2:32Speaker 6: Oh here, Rich.
- 2:35Speaker 7: Higher and Rich salmni ESPN. It's been about six weeks. Hey,
- 2:39Speaker 7: it's been about six weeks since you have said on
- 2:41Speaker 7: McAfee that you wanted to play for the Jets. So
- 2:43Speaker 7: I'm just curious. What was it like? This process lasted
- 2:47Speaker 7: a pretty long time, longer than people expected. What was
- 2:49Speaker 7: it like for you waiting the six weeks and was
- 2:51Speaker 7: there any point where you thought maybe that this trade
- 2:54Speaker 7: would not happen. And when did you know for sure
- 2:56Speaker 7: that you were going to be a Jet?
- 2:58Speaker 5: I mean not really. I believe it was going to
- 2:59Speaker 5: happen the entire time, just a matter of I think,
- 3:03Speaker 5: waiting each other out. My intention coming out of the
- 3:08Speaker 5: darkness was to pursue this opportunity, and I enjoyed the
- 3:13Speaker 5: meeting with Woody and Christopher. Came out these two guys
- 3:18Speaker 5: hack and I just got a great feel with all
- 3:22Speaker 5: those guys about the possibility, and as I leaned into it,
- 3:26Speaker 5: getting back into some more strenuous workouts, I just really
- 3:30Speaker 5: believe that this is where I was supposed to be
- 3:32Speaker 5: a lot of things had to come together, and I
- 3:35Speaker 5: believe there was some major synchronization to make this happen.
- 3:39Speaker 5: But I'm excited about the opportunity here. I always believe
- 3:42Speaker 5: this was possible, and things moved pretty quickly on Monday,
- 3:46Speaker 5: and thankfully I'm here now.
- 3:50Speaker 8: Aaron bruce Beck, NBC four, New York, Abris welcome, Thank you.
- 3:54Speaker 8: How driven are you to win for this fan base
- 3:58Speaker 8: which hasn't been to the playoffs since twenty ten, the
- 4:01Speaker 8: longest stretch in professional sports for the Ford different leagues
- 4:06Speaker 8: right now.
- 4:06Speaker 5: I mean, it's exciting. Just have an incredible passionate fan base.
- 4:11Speaker 5: I saw that last year at Lambeau. Obviously, you know
- 4:14Speaker 5: about Firemanhead and you know his passion for the team.
- 4:20Speaker 5: I think that's an exciting draw to this, as well
- 4:22Speaker 5: as being a part of something special. I grew up
- 4:24Speaker 5: watching old VHS tapes of the Super Bowls and so
- 4:30Speaker 5: obviously I know about the guarantee and Broadway Joe. It's
- 4:34Speaker 5: been a while since then. I noticed walking in this
- 4:38Speaker 5: morning that that Super Bowl three trophy is looking a
- 4:40Speaker 5: little lonely.
- 4:41Speaker 2: So and that's a quote. Hi there.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Judi Batista, who was in the room, spoke to Aaron
- 4:47Speaker 1: afterwards one on one. We'll play a little bit of
- 4:49Speaker 1: that a little bit later. That's a quote I think
- 4:51Speaker 1: that will linger for a while. He said that this
- 4:56Speaker 1: is a team with which he can win a championship,
- 5:00Speaker 1: and the Super Bowl three trophy fifty five years old,
- 5:04Speaker 1: is looking like.
- 5:06Speaker 9: When I talked to Aaron after the press conference, he said, like,
- 5:11Speaker 9: how close do you think this team is to winning?
- 5:15Speaker 9: And he said, I think we are one of the
- 5:16Speaker 9: handful of teams that can win right now. So he
- 5:19Speaker 9: thinks they are ready to go. He's going to be
- 5:22Speaker 9: part of the offseason workouts starting tomorrow. He talked about
- 5:25Speaker 9: getting the team together for team building activities and doing
- 5:28Speaker 9: stuff in the city to get the group together.
- 5:31Speaker 2: He is very excited.
- 5:33Speaker 9: He referenced multiple times the roster that Joe Douglas has
- 5:37Speaker 9: put together, particularly the young players who have been on
- 5:40Speaker 9: this roster now for a year or two.
- 5:42Speaker 2: He is very impressed with that.
- 5:43Speaker 9: He said, Look, the Jets beat the Packers last year,
- 5:46Speaker 9: so they got an up close view of what the
- 5:48Speaker 9: Jets are capable of doing.
- 5:50Speaker 2: Obviously, last season didn't end.
- 5:51Speaker 9: Well, but Rogers is really excited to get on the field.
- 5:54Speaker 9: He said, he is going to be a part of
- 5:56Speaker 9: the off season program as much as he can. He
- 5:58Speaker 9: knows that there is an adjustment period. He's very excited
- 6:01Speaker 9: to get started.
- 6:02Speaker 4: Yeah, and Judy, first off, great job working to that
- 6:04Speaker 4: delay right there.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Bad delay, Yeah, bad delay right there.
- 6:07Speaker 4: But also one of the things that Rogers said, you know,
- 6:10Speaker 4: we really need to hang on was he said a
- 6:12Speaker 4: big reason why he's going to the Jets is his
- 6:13Speaker 4: relationship with offensive coordinating Nathaniel Hackett. They've been together for
- 6:17Speaker 4: three years in Green Bay.
- 6:19Speaker 2: He said he loves him like a brother.
- 6:21Speaker 4: So Rodgers coming annoying the system that Hackett rants, the
- 6:24Speaker 4: same system that they ran in Green Bay. Matt Lafleur
- 6:27Speaker 4: was the head coach there. Mike Laflour is the former
- 6:30Speaker 4: offensive coordinator with the New York Jets who Nathaniel Hackett
- 6:33Speaker 4: is replacing. So they want to kind of get that
- 6:36Speaker 4: relationship going. And I think he wants to show everybody
- 6:38Speaker 4: else the relationship that he has with Nathaniel Hackett, so
- 6:41Speaker 4: other players can buy into Nathaniel Hackett, because the last
- 6:44Speaker 4: memory have of Nathaniel Hackett was him being the head
- 6:46Speaker 4: coach of the Denver Broncos and things not going well there.
- 6:48Speaker 2: So the fact that Aaron.
- 6:50Speaker 4: Rodgers is going to be there in the offseason, he
- 6:52Speaker 4: says he wants to lead by example, to raise the
- 6:54Speaker 4: level of expectation. You know that some of the people
- 6:56Speaker 4: in Green Bay were saying, well, where was this you
- 6:59Speaker 4: know when you were in Green Bay. Well, you know
- 7:01Speaker 4: what it's now in New Jersey because he wants to
- 7:03Speaker 4: show everybody that he can win as an old man.
- 7:06Speaker 4: As he continued to say that he can win with
- 7:08Speaker 4: a new ball club. I mean, I just keep on
- 7:11Speaker 4: hearkening back to this reminds me so much of Tom
- 7:13Speaker 4: Brady leaving New England, going to Tampa Bay and winning
- 7:17Speaker 4: a championship in Tampa Bay. This is clearly what Aaron
- 7:20Speaker 4: Rodgers wants to do. He says he's only focusing on
- 7:23Speaker 4: playing this season, but he's leaving the door open as well.
- 7:26Speaker 1: Yeah, and raising the level of play and the level
- 7:28Speaker 1: of football everyone around him. That's something why Johnson said
- 7:32Speaker 1: at the beginning his introductory remarks, he said that Aaron
- 7:34Speaker 1: is going to make everyone around him better. Rogers, who
- 7:38Speaker 1: did speak to Judy afterwards. We'll play some of that
- 7:39Speaker 1: a little bit later. Is inside speaking to reporters right now,
- 7:43Speaker 1: off to the side, and he evidently just told the
- 7:46Speaker 1: writers about that Zach Wilson comment. Remember Zach Wilson asked
- 7:49Speaker 1: last year what happens if Rogers shows up? He says,
- 7:51Speaker 1: I'm going to make his life hell off the field
- 7:53Speaker 1: or make his life hell in practice.
- 7:55Speaker 2: He said, quote, He's going to make my life.
- 7:57Speaker 1: Hell in practice, and I'm going to make his life
- 8:01Speaker 1: heaven off the field.
- 8:03Speaker 2: Woo Aaron Rod.
- 8:05Speaker 10: That's good stuff.
- 8:05Speaker 2: That's another reason to go, and we.
- 8:07Speaker 1: Thank Gvatisa fighting through what's felt like a ten second
- 8:10Speaker 1: delay there. Well done, Judy in form Park, Well done
- 8:13Speaker 1: Charles Davis as well his latest mock draft. In his
- 8:16Speaker 1: final mock Draft, version three point zero, it is Bryce
- 8:19Speaker 1: Young at one, Will Anderson at two, and then here's
- 8:23Speaker 1: the curve ball for you. Although this one is gaining
- 8:25Speaker 1: a little bit of steam. Harris Johnson not a defensive
- 8:29Speaker 1: player at three. Paris Johnson, the Ohio State tackle, potentially
- 8:33Speaker 1: Charles Davis going at three, Ian Rappid war Tom Pelliserra
- 8:37Speaker 1: live inside Union Station, our insiders joining us from Kansas City.
- 8:43Speaker 1: We've said for a while now the new GM Monnie
- 8:45Speaker 1: Austin fort would likely love to get out right Ian
- 8:47Speaker 1: if there's a run on quarterbacks, obviously someone would have
- 8:50Speaker 1: to want to get up to three for the Cardinals
- 8:53Speaker 1: to get out.
- 8:53Speaker 2: What are we hearing there?
- 8:54Speaker 10: Yeah, I would say the conversation really starts based on
- 8:57Speaker 10: what the Houston Texans do it too.
- 8:59Speaker 2: If they take CJ.
- 9:00Speaker 10: Stroud their quarterback of the future, then you know, my
- 9:03Speaker 10: guest just canvassing the landscape, Thomas, the Arizona Cardinals would
- 9:06Speaker 10: probably sit and pick. If Stroud is available at three,
- 9:09Speaker 10: then you're going to get several teams with interest and
- 9:11Speaker 10: perhaps we might see a trade Cardinals trade out they
- 9:13Speaker 10: accumulate picks. The Paris Johnson thought is certainly one that
- 9:17Speaker 10: has been gaining steam around the league. The Ohio State
- 9:20Speaker 10: tackle probably the safest, and let's say the consensus number
- 9:24Speaker 10: one tackle for most of the people we speak with,
- 9:27Speaker 10: would not be that maybe surprising a pick considering, you know,
- 9:31Speaker 10: making sure that Kyler Murray. Kyler Murray is in a
- 9:33Speaker 10: good spot in the future is paramount. This organization's only
- 9:36Speaker 10: something he would like. But for the Arizona Cardinals, yes
- 9:40Speaker 10: they would like to trade out, but of course that
- 9:41Speaker 10: all begins with what actually happens right before they go.
- 9:45Speaker 11: And you also have to remember, in order to trade down,
- 9:48Speaker 11: somebody has to trade up, and generally speaking, those trades
- 9:52Speaker 11: up rarely occur if they're not four quarterbacks. And that's
- 9:56Speaker 11: what you're talking about, which is if it's CJ. Stroud
- 9:59Speaker 11: at number two, that potentially may limit the options for
- 10:02Speaker 11: Arizona to get out of number three. The other thing
- 10:04Speaker 11: to keep in mind why do we see so few
- 10:07Speaker 11: trades at all in the top ten is the cost
- 10:11Speaker 11: not just in terms of the picks to move up,
- 10:14Speaker 11: which can be substantial, especially if you're trying to jump seven, eight, nine,
- 10:17Speaker 11: ten spots, but also the money is so huge at
- 10:20Speaker 11: the top of the draft, not as big as it
- 10:21Speaker 11: was back in twenty ten, two thousand and nine, but
- 10:24Speaker 11: like it's still multimillion dollar jump just to move a
- 10:27Speaker 11: couple of spots here. So keep all that in mind
- 10:29Speaker 11: as Arizona examines its options, which may not entirely crystallize
- 10:32Speaker 11: andrew until they're on the.
- 10:33Speaker 1: Clock exactly depending on really what happens at two, and
- 10:37Speaker 1: depending on what everyone really does think about the quarterback
- 10:40Speaker 1: seeing I mean, we've spent months talking about im and
- 10:42Speaker 1: analyzing i've and writing about them, but what these teams
- 10:46Speaker 1: think about them, no one truly knows. So are these
- 10:51Speaker 1: quarterbacks gonna fall? I mean, are we going to get
- 10:53Speaker 1: like one, two, three four quarterback like people fought months ago?
- 10:56Speaker 2: But that seems unlikely.
- 10:59Speaker 10: It seems unlikely to me that we get one, two,
- 11:02Speaker 10: three four quarterbacks. Probably in more likely scenario is two,
- 11:05Speaker 10: maybe three. Obviously, depending on what the Houston Texas do
- 11:08Speaker 10: at number two, maybe three go in the top four,
- 11:11Speaker 10: and then you're gonna have one quarterback. Maybe it's Will Levis,
- 11:14Speaker 10: maybe it's Anthony Richardson. Maybe I guess it'd probably be
- 11:17Speaker 10: just one of those two. And if that happens, you
- 11:20Speaker 10: might see a quarterback if it's one of those two,
- 11:22Speaker 10: slip into the teens, and then it's gonna get really
- 11:26Speaker 10: really fascinating. Let's say it's Anthony richards and we know
- 11:28Speaker 10: that several of the teams in the teens have done
- 11:31Speaker 10: work on quarterbacks. From Troy Lyons, the Minnesota Vikings, from
- 11:35Speaker 10: the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Obviously Seattle has number five, but
- 11:39Speaker 10: they also have a later pick as well. It's really
- 11:42Speaker 10: gonna be fascinating to see who decides to come up
- 11:44Speaker 10: for a quarterback. And the reason I say come up is,
- 11:46Speaker 10: rarely does.
- 11:47Speaker 2: Everyone just sit.
- 11:48Speaker 10: If it's a quarterback, you think he's a part of
- 11:50Speaker 10: your future. Rarely are you patient. More likely you're impatient
- 11:54Speaker 10: to leap up and get your guy.
- 11:56Speaker 11: And while there's really consensus and has been within the
- 11:58Speaker 11: league that Bryce Young is the number one quarterback and
- 12:00Speaker 11: consensus at CJ stru is the number two quarterback, you
- 12:03Speaker 11: talk to different people and they've I've got Will Levis
- 12:06Speaker 11: and Anthony Richardson in some cases even Hendon Hooker in
- 12:09Speaker 11: different orders. So it's going to depend not just on
- 12:11Speaker 11: which quarterback falls, but who down there potentially is going
- 12:15Speaker 11: to come up for him. You mentioned the Vikings. There
- 12:17Speaker 11: have been rumors about them making a big jump up.
- 12:19Speaker 11: I don't anticipate that happening unless there's some world in
- 12:22Speaker 11: which Bryce Young does not go number one overall, which
- 12:25Speaker 11: we all anticipate that he is going to to the
- 12:27Speaker 11: Carolina Panthers. But to your point, once those guys start
- 12:30Speaker 11: to reach into the teens, positional value comes into play,
- 12:34Speaker 11: and if you're a Seattle they've looked at all the quarterbacks,
- 12:37Speaker 11: they may not feel like we need to take one
- 12:39Speaker 11: at number five. The positional value to take one at
- 12:41Speaker 11: number twenty when Gino Smith is really on a one
- 12:44Speaker 11: year contract might make a whole lot more sense.
- 12:46Speaker 1: There has been only one of the thirty two GMS
- 12:48Speaker 1: that has said with certainty, I will take player acts
- 12:50Speaker 1: at a certain position, and that was Andrew Berry in
- 12:53Speaker 1: Cleveland who said, if Will Anderson is there at seventy four,
- 12:57Speaker 1: I'm taking him at seventy four, which won't happen.
- 13:00Speaker 2: Would be a good pick, Yeah, it would be a
- 13:02Speaker 2: great pick.
- 13:02Speaker 1: So let's figure out Jalen carter ian because the range
- 13:05Speaker 1: he could go is is pretty big.
- 13:08Speaker 2: What are you hearing?
- 13:10Speaker 10: I would say the range is probably somewhere from five
- 13:14Speaker 10: up a little bit past ten, and you're right. Definitely
- 13:17Speaker 10: one of the draft's biggest wild cards. Agent Jirozenhaus has
- 13:19Speaker 10: come out publicly and said, tell me about a week
- 13:21Speaker 10: ago or I don't know whatever that was. He feels
- 13:23Speaker 10: like a month ago that he's only having Carter visit
- 13:26Speaker 10: teams in the top ten because that is where he
- 13:28Speaker 10: believes he would go, and certainly that is a possibility
- 13:31Speaker 10: of the Seahawks at five. They've been all the homework
- 13:33Speaker 10: on him. You have the Raiders at seven, Falcons at eight,
- 13:37Speaker 10: Bears at nine, and obviously the Eagles, which would be
- 13:39Speaker 10: really really fascinating at ten. All of those teams have
- 13:42Speaker 10: done all the homework. But what Tom if he gets
- 13:45Speaker 10: to ten, does someone say that he goes You know what,
- 13:48Speaker 10: he's such a good player. Obviously with all the baggage,
- 13:51Speaker 10: we're just gonna trade up and take him. That's really
- 13:53Speaker 10: where it gets interesting to me.
- 13:54Speaker 11: I don't see any scenario which he gets past the
- 13:57Speaker 11: middle of the first round. It just seems like the
- 14:00Speaker 11: value at the position and there really is no other
- 14:02Speaker 11: clear Sorry to bother you you, okay, I'm just checking
- 14:06Speaker 11: that ja Oly Carter is too talented and there's too
- 14:09Speaker 11: much scarcity in terms of that position for him to
- 14:13Speaker 11: drop beyond you know, if you get into the again
- 14:15Speaker 11: the middle of that first round of the draft. B
- 14:17Speaker 11: John Robinson is another interesting one. We talk about positional value.
- 14:20Speaker 11: He is one of the top prospects in this whole draft.
- 14:23Speaker 11: Running Backs generally do not have the positional value of
- 14:25Speaker 11: some other spots. But again, if you look down toward
- 14:28Speaker 11: the late teens the early twenties, there's a bunch of
- 14:30Speaker 11: teams there who could argue for a running back. He's
- 14:33Speaker 11: got a lot of big fans. But that's also one
- 14:34Speaker 11: of the untold stories every year in the draft, Andrew,
- 14:36Speaker 11: which is teams at some point are kind of crossing
- 14:38Speaker 11: off the guys they think will be gone. This is
- 14:41Speaker 11: the time of year why we get all the calls
- 14:42Speaker 11: from GMS and coaches and other people talking through the draft,
- 14:44Speaker 11: which is who potentially might fall that we weren't even
- 14:47Speaker 11: thinking of a couple of days ago. We might have
- 14:49Speaker 11: to do just that little bit.
- 14:50Speaker 2: Of extra work.
- 14:50Speaker 1: Yeah, b John Robinson has Rookie of the Year of talent.
- 14:54Speaker 1: He has all pro talent. So someone's going to take him.
- 14:57Speaker 1: Question is when how long is he going to be
- 14:59Speaker 1: waiting in that room? Thank you a rappaport, Tom Pelsero, gentlemen,
- 15:03Speaker 1: we appreciate it. Coming up, ho about Christian Gonzalez, how
- 15:07Speaker 1: early does he hear his name called? The Oregon corner
- 15:13Speaker 1: is standing by and he is joining us.
- 15:16Speaker 12: Coming up, brought and separate Christian Gonzalez cornerback twenty two
- 15:30Speaker 12: first team All Pat twelve er stampas.
- 15:33Speaker 2: Once again, Gonzales.
- 15:35Speaker 4: Step for step with these outside receivers.
- 15:39Speaker 1: He's one of the best corners in the draft, picked
- 15:41Speaker 1: off four passes last year for the Oregon Ducks. He
- 15:43Speaker 1: is already in Kansas City. He is going to walk
- 15:45Speaker 1: that red carpet tomorrow. Christian Gonzalez joins us now ahead
- 15:49Speaker 1: of the draft. Christian, have you thought about what that
- 15:51Speaker 1: moment is going to be like yet? When you hear
- 15:54Speaker 1: your name and you get up there and you give
- 15:56Speaker 1: the commissioner a hug?
- 15:59Speaker 3: Well, I mean a lot, probably emotional, all a little bit.
- 16:04Speaker 6: Got the side to the case my allergies that you.
- 16:06Speaker 2: Know, Wait, do you think the allergies are going to
- 16:10Speaker 2: get to you?
- 16:12Speaker 6: I don't know they hate me yet, but we might get.
- 16:17Speaker 2: It happens.
- 16:18Speaker 4: Man, don't don't don't worry about that, and just say
- 16:20Speaker 4: you're in Kansas City.
- 16:20Speaker 2: You know there's a lot of mold in the air.
- 16:22Speaker 2: I'm from Missouri, so I do know that. But but Christian, you.
- 16:25Speaker 4: Know, how is how has this this process been leading
- 16:29Speaker 4: up to this moment? Like when you talk to these teams,
- 16:32Speaker 4: is there any one thing they want to talk to you?
- 16:34Speaker 4: Most about.
- 16:38Speaker 3: They always talk to me about just being a lazy
- 16:41Speaker 3: back guy.
- 16:43Speaker 6: I was that translated, but I was telling it's it's
- 16:49Speaker 6: anytime the lines. They know that, but they just want
- 16:57Speaker 6: to see how I comes and tell them that.
- 17:00Speaker 1: Well, yeah, because you're Christian, your laid back. You're leaning
- 17:03Speaker 1: back right now. You don't have the loudest voice here,
- 17:05Speaker 1: and that's kind of different for a corner, right, I mean,
- 17:08Speaker 1: corners are loud.
- 17:09Speaker 2: Corners get in your face.
- 17:10Speaker 1: I know that's a cliche, but that's what these coaches
- 17:13Speaker 1: are used to coaching. Do you have to do something
- 17:19Speaker 1: to show them that you could be the loudest guy
- 17:22Speaker 1: in the room.
- 17:22Speaker 2: Do you feel the need to.
- 17:25Speaker 3: I don't never need to be the loudest in the room,
- 17:28Speaker 3: just as long as it's turned on anytime we do
- 17:32Speaker 3: anything competitive.
- 17:33Speaker 6: I'm a different type of guy. So it just clicked
- 17:38Speaker 6: talking about it.
- 17:39Speaker 4: It just clicks.
- 17:40Speaker 2: Christian.
- 17:40Speaker 4: Why the uptick internal interceptions once you transferred from Colorado
- 17:45Speaker 4: to Oregon?
- 17:48Speaker 3: Yeah, just actually just finishing the play. I knew I
- 17:54Speaker 3: had great bass skills, great hands. I always trusted them.
- 17:59Speaker 3: Just finally finishing the play and I was able to make.
- 18:03Speaker 1: Those work, all right, I know, you don't know where
- 18:06Speaker 1: you're going, Christian, I don't know if you're going three.
- 18:08Speaker 2: But let's play the game here. The Cardinals do need
- 18:12Speaker 2: a corner.
- 18:14Speaker 1: Your brother in law, David Blow is a Cardinal as
- 18:19Speaker 1: right now, remember from the Lions obviously, but he is
- 18:21Speaker 1: on the Cardinals roster. Have you wrapped your head around
- 18:25Speaker 1: the possibility of playing with your brother in law.
- 18:31Speaker 6: I have.
- 18:32Speaker 3: We talked about it as a whole family. It's been crazy,
- 18:37Speaker 3: the fact that's definitely a possibility.
- 18:40Speaker 6: It would be really cool. We'll see what happens.
- 18:45Speaker 1: And there he is with your sister Melissa, who obviously
- 18:48Speaker 1: we saw in Hard Knocks a couple of years ago
- 18:50Speaker 1: and Olympian and that was such a great moment with
- 18:52Speaker 1: him and his teammates watching in Detroit.
- 18:56Speaker 2: Does everyone want you there?
- 18:58Speaker 1: Because I would think, like that's kind of weird, like you.
- 19:01Speaker 2: Come home like hey, what did my brothers say? The
- 19:03Speaker 2: other way around?
- 19:03Speaker 1: Like, hey, like, is is it a totally good thing
- 19:06Speaker 1: to be there?
- 19:09Speaker 3: Definitely, I mean it's a totally good thing to be anywhere,
- 19:12Speaker 3: but but yeah, with him, it be it'd be crazy.
- 19:16Speaker 6: Definitely, someone that could lean on you, show me.
- 19:21Speaker 3: He hadn't been in the league, show me the ways,
- 19:23Speaker 3: but it would be it'd be real fun.
- 19:26Speaker 6: Well smack talk.
- 19:28Speaker 2: All right, well, possibility.
- 19:29Speaker 1: They're sitting there at three, you're sitting there also in
- 19:31Speaker 1: front of a nice big head and shoulder side of
- 19:33Speaker 1: the wall behind you.
- 19:34Speaker 2: Tell us what you're doing with them, Christian.
- 19:38Speaker 3: Yeah, here head and shoulders of the P ANDNG line.
- 19:41Speaker 3: They are just helping us highlight really are our hair
- 19:44Speaker 3: styles and just making sure everything look great for tomorrow night.
- 19:48Speaker 2: Definitely gonna look good.
- 19:49Speaker 1: I remember you told the story a couple of years
- 19:51Speaker 1: ago the draft was in Dallas and someone said to you, man,
- 19:53Speaker 1: that could be you one day on that stage in
- 19:55Speaker 1: that building. And now you are in Kansas City with
- 19:58Speaker 1: a chance of getting on that stage tomorrow night night
- 20:01Speaker 1: number one. Christian Gonzales, Good luck to you, sir, have
- 20:04Speaker 1: fun to God, love Christian, Thank you, Christian Gonzales. Everyone
- 20:07Speaker 1: corner from Ore again. Anthony Richardson is also in Kansas City.
- 20:13Speaker 1: Daniel Jeremiah called him a lottery tickets Alaska's coach of Florida,
- 20:17Speaker 1: Philly Napier.
- 20:18Speaker 2: Just how big that payoff would be?
- 20:24Speaker 12: Gusika Tounson, Enron Louse Ritchridson going the House touchdown Anthony
- 20:32Speaker 12: Richardson Quarterback SEC All Freshman Team.
- 20:37Speaker 13: Anthony Richardson, and you see what he's capable of doing.
- 20:40Speaker 2: One of the best of.
- 20:43Speaker 1: One of those fascinating prospects, one of the most fascinating.
- 20:46Speaker 2: Quarterbacks we have seen come along in a long long time.
- 20:50Speaker 1: Anthony Richardson on our mos anywhere from four DJ has
- 20:54Speaker 1: him going to Indianapolis down to twenty two. How about
- 20:57Speaker 1: that learning behind Lamar Jackson at Baltimore. Who knows he
- 21:02Speaker 1: has that much talent? This guy saw the talent up close.
- 21:05Speaker 1: Head coach of the Florida Gators, Billy Napier joints us
- 21:07Speaker 1: coach takes for taking the time. DJ called your quarterback
- 21:11Speaker 1: a lottery ticket like Matt if it hits, lookout, how
- 21:15Speaker 1: big would that payoff be if this lottery ticket hits
- 21:19Speaker 1: for an NFL team?
- 21:22Speaker 14: Well, I mean you're talking about generational talent, right, I
- 21:26Speaker 14: mean the guy completely destroyed every record from a measurement
- 21:31Speaker 14: standpoint at the NFL Combine. And you know, you spend
- 21:34Speaker 14: time with Anthony, You're going to learn that this guy's
- 21:36Speaker 14: extremely bright. He was a great teammate, you know, voted
- 21:39Speaker 14: team captain by his peers and really just a humble
- 21:44Speaker 14: guy that you know is twenty years old.
- 21:46Speaker 8: Right.
- 21:46Speaker 14: The potential here is limitless, So no surprise to me
- 21:52Speaker 14: that he's once the interview process is started. This guy
- 21:56Speaker 14: has vaulted up the boards. And we're really proud of Anthony.
- 22:00Speaker 14: That was a tough decision for him to decide to leave,
- 22:03Speaker 14: but he will always be a gay and we're extremely proud.
- 22:07Speaker 2: Coach. Can can Anthony play it?
- 22:09Speaker 4: Any type of system will work. Will NFL team have
- 22:11Speaker 4: to kind of scheme what they do to his overall strengths?
- 22:16Speaker 2: No, I think.
- 22:17Speaker 14: I think mentally the guy has no there's no issue
- 22:21Speaker 14: there at all. I mean, you'd be remiss if he
- 22:25Speaker 14: didn't talk about the athletic ability. I mean, I can
- 22:28Speaker 14: think he can go throw to throw with any any
- 22:31Speaker 14: player in the drafts. But this guy is a legitimate
- 22:34Speaker 14: runner at six foot four, two hundred and fifty pounds.
- 22:36Speaker 14: I mean he can, he can. He's a one play
- 22:40Speaker 14: touchdown player. You know, this guy can go seventy five
- 22:42Speaker 14: yards for a touchdown. So I think you're seeing more
- 22:45Speaker 14: of the college game translate to the NFL with these
- 22:48Speaker 14: athletic quarterbacks, and Anthony is a part of that kind
- 22:51Speaker 14: of that next generation of players. So I think you
- 22:56Speaker 14: build around what he can do. And there's that's a
- 22:58Speaker 14: long list of things.
- 23:00Speaker 1: Coach tell me about the leadership camp. Wolf is about
- 23:02Speaker 1: to join us as a great piece right now. In
- 23:04Speaker 1: NFL dot Com, there's a story in there about after
- 23:06Speaker 1: you guys lost to Georgia didn't go well, he got
- 23:08Speaker 1: up in front of the team and he kind of asked, like,
- 23:12Speaker 1: why are we here?
- 23:13Speaker 2: Are you guys going to do this? Are we going
- 23:15Speaker 2: to do this?
- 23:15Speaker 1: And the quote was if y'all really don't want to
- 23:17Speaker 1: do this, this is Richardson talking to the team. Let
- 23:20Speaker 1: me know right now because I will quit this bleep
- 23:24Speaker 1: and be a firefighter.
- 23:26Speaker 2: What kind of leader is Anthony Richardson? Well, I think
- 23:31Speaker 2: much like much like he is a player.
- 23:35Speaker 14: You know, he's a young man, right so I think
- 23:37Speaker 14: he's grown in that regard significantly last year with the experience,
- 23:41Speaker 14: you know, so, but I think Anthony is from right
- 23:45Speaker 14: here in Jamesville, Florida. You know, he's had a unique
- 23:49Speaker 14: experience COVID and his freshman year twenty twenty twenty one.
- 23:53Speaker 6: Was a unique year.
- 23:54Speaker 14: And then here we go first year starter, And I
- 23:58Speaker 14: thought he really grew as a leader as the season went,
- 24:01Speaker 14: much like he grew as a football player. So I
- 24:04Speaker 14: think this guy very capable. He can connect with anybody,
- 24:08Speaker 14: and I think he has the character. He cares about
- 24:12Speaker 14: the team, and I don't think there's going to be
- 24:14Speaker 14: any issue with leadership. If anything, going to be a
- 24:17Speaker 14: strength for Anthony.
- 24:18Speaker 4: Coach, you know, you've got extensive work with quarterbacks. You've
- 24:20Speaker 4: done it for years. You know, that's what you do
- 24:23Speaker 4: when Anthony gets to the next level.
- 24:25Speaker 2: What type of.
- 24:26Speaker 4: Position coach do you think he needs in terms of
- 24:30Speaker 4: relating to him to get the most out of him.
- 24:34Speaker 14: You know, Anthony just needs continuity and system. He needs structure,
- 24:38Speaker 14: he needs routine. You know, I think more importantly, what
- 24:43Speaker 14: other quarterbacks are in the room too, to go with
- 24:45Speaker 14: the coach. I think there's some of that as well.
- 24:48Speaker 14: But you know, I think Anthony is a guy who
- 24:51Speaker 14: responds well to lots of different teachers. You know, he
- 24:54Speaker 14: certainly had three different quarterback coaches in his time at Florida,
- 25:00Speaker 14: and I think Anthony would benefit from experience. A guy
- 25:02Speaker 14: that's been around the league, that's been under stands what's required.
- 25:06Speaker 14: You know, throughout the off season, and certainly within the season.
- 25:09Speaker 14: So Anthony's gonna respond well to about any coach.
- 25:13Speaker 2: Billy last thing for it.
- 25:14Speaker 1: Obviously he's not the only Gator who might hear his
- 25:17Speaker 1: name called. You might have Osirens, torret Oh, Cyrus, Torrance Bega,
- 25:20Speaker 1: pardon his name called Tomorrow.
- 25:23Speaker 2: There's Garage, there's dexter.
- 25:25Speaker 1: Overall, what is this rap name for the Florida program,
- 25:28Speaker 1: especially if you hear a couple of names called early
- 25:29Speaker 1: Tomorrow Night.
- 25:31Speaker 14: Well, it's a really good group, certainly a group that
- 25:35Speaker 14: cares about Florida, that took great pride and representing the
- 25:37Speaker 14: state of Florida in the University of Florida. But you know,
- 25:41Speaker 14: these guys were in our first year. They provided leadership,
- 25:44Speaker 14: they provided example, and we're proud of them, you know.
- 25:50Speaker 14: And really these are always good days, especially when you've
- 25:53Speaker 14: been around a young man for a long time like Savo,
- 25:57Speaker 14: you've been through the entire process. That's probably one of
- 26:00Speaker 14: the more gratifying things that you get to experience as
- 26:02Speaker 14: a coach. So it's a good group and we're looking
- 26:06Speaker 14: forward to see where they end up at.
- 26:08Speaker 1: Big Night for Florida coming up tomorrow. Billy Napier head
- 26:12Speaker 1: coach of the Gators. We appreciate your time man, thanks
- 26:14Speaker 1: for joining.
- 26:15Speaker 2: Thanks coach, Thank you guys.
- 26:17Speaker 1: Have a great day you too as we continue in
- 26:19Speaker 1: NFL now and I mentioned that article the Cam Wolf wrote,
- 26:22Speaker 1: highly recommend it. I read it this morning. It's long,
- 26:24Speaker 1: it is worth your time. So many good anecdotes from
- 26:28Speaker 1: cam Wolf on this quarterback, who, like I said, Daniel
- 26:31Speaker 1: Jeremiah called a lottery ticket and the payoff will be huge.
- 26:35Speaker 1: There's the story there about saying, hey, I will be
- 26:38Speaker 1: a firefighter.
- 26:39Speaker 2: I'll go back to doing that.
- 26:41Speaker 1: There's great stuff in there Cam as well about his
- 26:45Speaker 1: relationship with his little brother Corey, where he's almost like
- 26:49Speaker 1: a son to Anthony.
- 26:52Speaker 2: Yeah, Andrew, thank you for the love.
- 26:54Speaker 13: By the way, it's a lot of details in that story,
- 26:56Speaker 13: but the first thing you think about with Anthony Richardson
- 26:59Speaker 13: is how he looks. I'm telling you, if you stand
- 27:01Speaker 13: next to him, he looks bigger than you think.
- 27:04Speaker 2: He throws the ball further.
- 27:05Speaker 13: Than you think. And he told me I'm not human.
- 27:08Speaker 13: I'm liking alien. I don't think I can compare it
- 27:10Speaker 13: to anyone. And I also saw his humility as he
- 27:13Speaker 13: worked on the field with his mechanics, his accuracy, to
- 27:16Speaker 13: try to erase some of those question marks people may
- 27:18Speaker 13: have about him. And he's made growth in those areas.
- 27:22Speaker 13: And you talked about some of the stories, whether it
- 27:24Speaker 13: be him inside the Florida locker room crying, relating to
- 27:27Speaker 13: his team, or.
- 27:28Speaker 2: With his brother.
- 27:29Speaker 13: But I also want to share the final nugget that
- 27:32Speaker 13: he told me about what he wants in this new coach.
- 27:34Speaker 13: He said, I don't want to be baby. I want
- 27:36Speaker 13: somebody that's going to push me and get the most
- 27:38Speaker 13: out of me and get that greatness out of me.
- 27:41Speaker 13: And I think people around the league see that potential
- 27:43Speaker 13: in them. I'm here in the Carolina Panthers facility. I
- 27:46Speaker 13: actually asked their GM Scott Fitterer, about his scouting report
- 27:49Speaker 13: on Richardson, and he said, he is very smart. He's
- 27:52Speaker 13: further along growth wise than maybe we initially thought, and
- 27:55Speaker 13: he is going to be able to contribute to a
- 27:58Speaker 13: team and be a very productive player. So he may
- 28:00Speaker 13: not be the guy here, but there are people around
- 28:02Speaker 13: the league who are very high on his potential.
- 28:05Speaker 1: That line there about being an alien right at the
- 28:07Speaker 1: top of your story again the stories on NFL dot Com.
- 28:10Speaker 1: So he may not be the guy there you are
- 28:12Speaker 1: in Carolina. No alien landing tomorrow. We still think Bryce Young.
- 28:19Speaker 13: Andrew I want to paint a picture for you. They
- 28:20Speaker 13: just came off the practice facility for Veteran Mini Camp
- 28:23Speaker 13: about an hour ago and owner David Tepper is sitting
- 28:26Speaker 13: there watching practice. This is pouring down rain there and
- 28:29Speaker 13: Frank W. Reich talked to us about thirty minutes ago.
- 28:32Speaker 13: He raved about the support that Temper has given them
- 28:34Speaker 13: throughout the process. They had a meeting with him, Scott's Fitterer,
- 28:38Speaker 13: Reich and Temper today and they told them who their
- 28:41Speaker 13: number one pick is. And I talked to Scott Fitterer
- 28:43Speaker 13: earlier today who said there was about a five second
- 28:46Speaker 13: meeting I had with Reike Monday telling him who my
- 28:50Speaker 13: pick is. He told me who his pick is. And
- 28:52Speaker 13: now we're all on the same page. So they have
- 28:54Speaker 13: a consensus. But they've made it clear they're not going
- 28:56Speaker 13: to make that announcement until Thursday at eight pm. I
- 28:59Speaker 13: continue to hear talking with people here and across the league.
- 29:02Speaker 13: Is expected to be Alabama's Bryce Young. Final note from Reich.
- 29:06Speaker 13: He discussed the characteristics and traits that he and Fitterer
- 29:09Speaker 13: looked for in a quarterback. He discussed the grit, the
- 29:12Speaker 13: playmaking ability, the X factor, a lot of the elements
- 29:15Speaker 13: that sound like some young quarterback that is eligible to
- 29:19Speaker 13: be picked.
- 29:20Speaker 1: Yes, you know they're in the common draft. Era has
- 29:22Speaker 1: never been an Alabama player going number one overall. I
- 29:25Speaker 1: know that's absurd, but that's true. Common Draft ara since
- 29:30Speaker 1: nineteen sixty seven. Kis no, I know why, it's really
- 29:33Speaker 1: it's true. Hadi's like double checked it fifteen times. It's bonkers,
- 29:38Speaker 1: my hand, eye and Philip. NFL Now is a production
