- 0:01Book eighth Weishmabad Fall of Vishma. All negotiations for a peaceful partition of the
- 0:10Kuru kingdom having failed, both parties now prepared for a battle, perhaps the
- 0:16most sanguinary that was fought on the plains of India in dencient times. It
- 0:20is a battle of nations, for all warlike races in northern India took a
- 0:25cher in it. Duritan's army consisted of his own division as well as the
- 0:30divisions of ten alive kings. Each allied power is said to have brought one
- 0:34ak Shaeni troops, and if he reduced this fabulous number to the moderate figure
- 0:38of ten thousand, including horse and foot cars and elephants, Duritan's army,
- 0:43including his own division, was over one hundred thousand strong. Yidistir had a
- 0:49smaller army, said to have been seven Akshainese in number, which he may
- 0:53by a similar reduction reckoned to be seventy thousand. His father in law,
- 0:58the King of the Panchas, and Darjin's relative, the King of the Machias,
- 1:03where his principal allies, Krishna, joined him as his friend and adviser
- 1:07and as the jederiotier of Virgin, but the Breshnis as a nation had joined
- 1:12the Ryudhan. When the two armies were drawn up in are and faced each
- 1:17other, and Darjin saw his revered elders and dear friends and relations among his
- 1:22foes, he was unwilling to fight. It was on this occasion that Krishna
- 1:26explained to him the great principles of duty in that memorable work called the Fagavad
- 1:32Gita, which has been translated into so many European languages. Belief in one
- 1:37supreme deity is the underlying thought of this work, and ever an Anon as
- 1:42Professor Gerber remarks, thus Krishna ever to the doctrine that for every man,
- 1:47no matter to what cost he may belong, the jealous performance of his duty
- 1:51and the teachairs of his obligations is his most important work. They did and
- 1:57chose the grand ould fighter Vishma as the commandery chief of his army. For
- 2:01ten days, Vishma held his own and inflicted serious loss on Idistir's army.
- 2:07The principal incidents of these ten days, ending with the fall of Vishma,
- 2:10are narrated in this book. This book is an approachment of book six of
- 2:15the original text. One pondebs rooted by Vishma Ushas with her crimson fingers OpEd

- 2:42sounding weapons which the warlike archards drew, and the nah of battle chargers as
- 2:46the armed horsemen flew mingled with the rolling thunder of each swiftly speeding car and
- 2:53its feeling bells, proclaiming by the elephants of war. Fishma led the Kuru
- 2:58forces strong as that's resistless flail human chiefs nor bright immortals could against his might
- 3:05prevail. Helmut wearing Galander Jun came in pride and mighty red held alofties,
- 3:13famed Ghandhib strove to cross the chieftain's path. A Himenu, son of a
- 3:17Jun, whom the fair Suvadrabor drove against Koshala's monarch, famed in arms and

- 4:15his cohorts onward bore against the warlick Jeddrath, chief of Sindhu's sounding shore Chades
- 4:23and the valiant Matchias nations gathered from Afar Vojas and the fierce Combojures mingled into
- 4:30dubious war through the day. The battle lasted, and no mortal tongue can
- 4:35tell what unnumbered chieftains perished and what countless soldiers fell. And the son knew
- 4:43not his father and the sire knew not his son brother fought against his brother
- 4:48strange the deeds of balerdan. Horses fell, and shafts of chariots shivered in
- 4:55resistless shock, hurled against the foreman's chariots, speeding on like the rolling rock.
- 5:01Elephants by mahouts driven furiously each other tore trumpeting with trunks uplifted on the
- 5:08serried soldier's boar ceaselessplight. The gallant troopers with a starn unielding miThe pikes and
- 5:15axes, clubs and maces, swords and spears and lances breathe. Horsemen flee
- 5:20wes, fork lighting heroes fought in shining mail. Archers poured their feedered arrows
- 5:26like the bright and glistening hail. Vishma, leader of the chorus, as
- 5:31declined the ratful day through the shattered pant of legions, forced his all resistless
- 5:36way onward went his palm tree standard through the hostile ranks of war machias.
- 5:44Gashi's nor Panchadas faced the mighty wishmouse car. But the fiery son of a
- 5:49June, filled with shame and bade a red, turned his car and tawny
- 5:54coursers to abstract. The chieftain's pet vainly fought the youthful warrior, though his
- 6:00doughts were pointed well and dissevered from his chariot. Vishma's pumpty standard fell angers
- 6:08teared Dance and Vishma, and he rose in all his might of a manue
- 6:13pierced with arrows, fell unfainted in the fight. Then, to save the
- 6:17son of Virtune, Matia's gallant princess came brave with their noble sweater youthful warriors
- 6:25known to fame Ah too hourly felt the warriors in that sad and fatal strife.
- 6:30Matia's dems and dark eyed maidens wept. The princess shortened life, slain
- 6:36by cwel faith untimely fell to brothers young and good. Dauntless. Still the
- 6:43youngest brother, proud and gallant Sunka stood, But the helmet daring Urtune came
- 6:48to stop the victor's pat and to save the fearless Sunka from Dance and Wishma's
- 6:55red droopet. Two punt Charles's monarch swiftly rushed in to the prey strove to
- 7:00shield the broken pandubs and to stop the victor's way. But as fire consumed
- 7:06the forest, wrathful Vishma slew the foe none could face. His sounding chariot
- 7:12and his ever circled bow, and the fainting panda brothers marked a foe resistless,
- 7:18bold shoke like unprotected cattle teetered in the blighting cold. Onward came the
- 7:25mighty Vishma, and the slaughter fiercer grew from his bow like hissing serpents.
- 7:30Still the glistening arrows flew. Onward came the ensign to warrior, and his
- 7:36path was strewn with dead, and the broken pond of forces, crushed and
- 7:41driven, scattered, fled. Friendly knight, and gathering darkness closed the slaughter
- 7:46of the day to their tents. The sons of Pantu held their sad and
- 7:50weary way. Two CRUs rooted by urchin grieved at heart, the goody stir
- 8:01wept the losses of the day, sought the aid of gallant Krishna for the
- 8:05morning's fresh array. And when from the eastern mountains Suriya drove his fiery car,
- 8:11Vishma and the helder Jun strove to turn the tide of war, Vishma's
- 8:16glorious palmedy standard over the field of battle rose Urgin's monkey standard glittered, cleaving
- 8:22through the sered foes. They was from their cloud born chariots and gun derbs
- 8:28from the sky, gazed in mute and speechless wonder on the humid chiefs from
- 8:33high while its dauntless valor urgent steel. The mighty Vishma sa'ad warlike prince of
- 8:41fair Panchao, with the doughty Drona, fought ceaseless against a proud preceptor sent
- 8:48his dots like summer rain. Baffled by the skill of Drona, tris Dadhimiya
- 8:52strove in vain, but the fiercer dots of Drona pierced the princess shattered male
- 8:58hurtling on his battle chariot like an angry shower of hail, And they ran
- 9:03in twain his bowstring, and they cut his ponderous maze. Sleevy s deeth
- 9:09sent chariot driver streaked blood, his godlike face dauntless still Ponchild's hero springing from
- 9:16a shadowed car like a hungry dagert lion with his zebra rushed to war,
- 9:22dashed aside the darts of Drouna with his broad and ample shield, with his
- 9:26saber, brightly framing, fierly stroughted red and field in his fury and his
- 9:33rashness, he had fallen on that day. But the ever watchful Wema stopped
- 9:37a proud preceptor's way, proud, rude and marked, with tanger Vima rushing
- 9:43in his car, and he sent Kalinga's forces to the thickening ranks of war.
- 9:50Onward came Kalinga warriors with the dark tornado's smith, dusky chiefs, nishad
- 9:54warriors, gloomy as the sable night rose the sh shout of warring nations,
- 10:01surging to the battle's war, like the angry voice of tempest and the ocean's
- 10:05troubled roar, Unlike darkly rolling breakers, ranks of sered warriors flew scarcely in
- 10:13the tikening darkness. Friends and kin from Forem and Neil felt the young Prince
- 10:18of Kalinga by the wrathful Wema slane, but against Kalinga's monarch, befful Vima
- 10:24fought in vain, safely set the star monarch on his howdah's lofty seat,
- 10:31till upon the giant tusker Fema sprang with a xile feet. Then he struck
- 10:37with fatal fury. Brave Kalinga fell in twain, scattered, fled his countless
- 10:41forces when they saw their leader slaying, darkly rolled the tide of battle.
- 10:46When Dudidan's valiant son strove against the son of vir Jun, famed for deeds
- 10:52of well or done, proud do you then marked a contest with her father's
- 10:56anxious heart came to say of his gallant lushmen from Bravay may now start.
- 11:03And the helmut wearing Urchin marked his son among his POWs, who from far
- 11:07his battle chariot and in rat terrific rose Urjun. Urjun cried the Curus,
- 11:15and in panic broke and fled stead In Tasker turned from battle. Soldiers fell
- 11:20among the dead. Godlike Krishna drove the coursers of registless urgent scar and the
- 11:28sound of Urgin Sunkha rose above the cry of war and the voice of his
- 11:33Gandip spread a terror far and near. Crushed and broken, faint and frightened
- 11:39fled the Curus in their fear onward steel through scattered foemen, Conquering Arjun held
- 11:45his way till the evening's gathering darkness closed the action of the day tree Vishma
- 11:52and urgin meat anxious was the proud to ruden when the golden morning came.
- 12:00For before the cut of virgin fled each Kuru chief of fame brave, the
- 12:05ruthen shook in anger, and the tremor moved his frame as he speake to
- 12:09ancient Vishma, words of rat in bitter shame, Vishma, dost thou lead
- 12:16the Kurus in this battle's crimson field warlike drona dotty gordos like a broad and
- 12:22ample shield. Wherefore then before your urchun, do the valiant curus fly?
- 12:28Wherefore doth our leader linger when he hears the battle cry dot a secret love
- 12:33for Pandev's quell our leader's matchless mile with a halting chill for Kurus dot the
- 12:39noble Vishma fid pardon chief if for the pandavs dot thy partial heart incline,
- 12:46yield my place, Let faithful Kurn lead my gallant Kuru. Line. Anger
- 12:52flamed on Vishma's forehead, and the tear was in his eye and in accents
- 12:58few and trembling. Thus the warrior made reply, vein our toil unwise?
- 13:03Do you then, nor can wish my warrior old, nor can Drona's killed,
- 13:07the weapons her nature proud and bold, wash the stain of deeds unholy
- 13:13and of wrongs and outraged laws, conquer with a load of cunning against a
- 13:18right and righteous cause death to his dunes. Boys, do you then,
- 13:22deaf to parents and to keen. Thou shalt paris in thy folly, in
- 13:28thy unrepented scene, for the wrongs and insults suffered unto good it is to
- 13:33his wife, for the kingdom from him stolen, for the plots against his
- 13:37life, for the dreadful oats of Viema, for the holy council given vainly
- 13:43given by Saint Lukrishna. Thou art doomed by righteous heaven. Meanwhile, since
- 13:50he leads thy forces fish m steel, shall meet his foe, or to
- 13:54conquer or to perish to the battle's front. I go, speaking us unto
- 14:00the battle, and send Vishma hurled his way, sweeping all before his chariot,
- 14:05as upon a previous day, and the army of wittstir shook from and
- 14:09to far the stand urchin nor the valiant Krishna gout against a tight content.
- 14:16Cars were shattered, fled the coursers. Elephants were pierced and slain. Shafts
- 14:22of chariots broken, standards, Lifeless soldiers strewed the plain coats of mail were
- 14:28left by warriors as they ran with streaming hair. Soldiers fled like herds of
- 14:33cattle, stricken by sudden fear. Krishna, Aljun's chariot driver and the chief
- 14:39of rteaus Fame marked a broken pond of forces. Spake in grief and bitter
- 14:43shame. Urchin not in hour of battle had it been they wont to fly
- 14:50forward, lay thy path of glory, or to conquer or to die.
- 14:56If to day with angry Vishma Urgin chanced the dubious fo Shame on Krishna if
- 15:01he joins thee in this sad, inglorious flight, be it Minealono Urchin warriors
- 15:09wanted work to know Krishna. It is fiery discuss smites the all resistless foe.
- 15:16Then he flung the reins to Urchin, left the steeds and sounding car
- 15:20leaped upon the field of battle, rushed into the draftful war shame, cried
- 15:26Urjun in his anger Krishna shall not wage the fire, nor shall acheun like
- 15:31a recream seek for safety in his flight, and he dashed behind the warrior,
- 15:37and on foot. The chief pursued, caught him as the angry Krishna
- 15:41steal his distant form and vewed stallard. Urjun lifted Krishna as the storm lifts
- 15:48up a tree, placed him on his battle chariot, and he bent to
- 15:52him his knee. Pardon Krishna, discompulsion. Pardon this translation bold, But
- 15:58while Achin leaves, so Chief dain weapon of Dirath. Whit told by my
- 16:03warlike a vimnu, fears of a dross darling boy, by my brother's dearer
- 16:08truer teneen hours of pride and joy by my trots. I pledge I Krishna
- 16:15let c eye, angry, disc asleep, arched Arjun meets his foemen,
- 16:18and the splatted world will keep forth. It rushed the Fiyachun in his sounding
- 16:25battle car and like waves before him parted serrie ranks of hostile war vainly hurled
- 16:32his lunch studio. Then against a variant warrior's face, vainly Seilia, King
- 16:37of Madra. She would skill his ponderous maze with disdain. The godlike Achun
- 16:42dashed the feeble dortch aside hold aloft his famed gandhib as he stood with half
- 16:48depride, beat up grum and blare of sunka, and the thunder of his
- 16:53car and his weapon's fearful accents rose terrific. Near and far came regists,
- 17:00spund of forces sweeping onward, wave on wave, chades, machias and Panchada's
- 17:07chieftains true and warriors brave onward too came forth to Curus by the matchless wish
- 17:14Mahaled. Shouts arose and cry of anguish midst the dying and the dead.
- 17:19But the evening closed in darkness, and the night fires feitful flared, fainting
- 17:26troops and bleeding chieftains to their various tents repaired. Four Tuditan's brother slain dawned
- 17:36another day of battle. Crews knew that day too well. Without Queens of
- 17:41fair has Dinna wept before the evening fell, for as world of destruction we
- 17:47mus swept in mighty red broke the serried line of taskers vainly sent to cross
- 17:52his paths smoth Turiathan with his arrows. Three terrific dords and five smoth proud
- 17:57sailia from the battle scarce the board the chiefs alive. Then Duritan's fourteen brothers
- 18:04rushed into the dretful fray. Fatal was the luckless moment, inauspicious was the
- 18:11day licked his mouth, the vengeful Wema, and they shook his bow and
- 18:15lands as the lion lolts his red tanue when he see his prey advance,
- 18:22short and fierce the furious combat. Six pal princes torned and fled. Eight
- 18:27of proud Uruden's brothers fell and slumbered with the dead, five sighed Tekey's son
- 18:34slain. Morning with her fiery radiance of the portals of the day shone once
- 18:41more on Kouru warriors, bund of chiefs in dread array. Vima and the
- 18:47Galantachun led once more to van of war, but the proud preceptor Drona faced
- 18:52them in his sounding car, steeled with gallant son of Virgin Luxman strove with
- 18:57bow and shield, vainly strove. His faithful henchmen bore him bleeding from the
- 19:03field. Lutschman, son of Proud to Judan of Vimenu, Arguin's son doomed
- 19:10to die in ute and glory. Beneath the same revolving sun sat the day
- 19:15for Brishney warriors. Brave sight, Ticky's son submired against a cruel Vururistavas strove
- 19:21in unrelenting five ten brave brothers Pride of Breshney fell upon that fatal day,
- 19:29slain by mighty Wuristravas, and upon the red field lay six. Wema's danger
- 19:37and rescue dawned another day of slaughter. Heathless Wema forced his way through durden,
- 19:45sered legions who are dark, death and danger lay and the hundred foemen
- 19:51gathered and unequal was the strife. We mus strove with furious valor, for
- 19:56his four feet was his life. Fair puncha He's watchful monarch saw the danger
- 20:02from Afar forced his wayward. Pleading Vima fought beside his shattered car, and
- 20:07he helped the fainting warrior placed him on his chariot seat. But the crews
- 20:12darkly gathered, surging round as watersmeathed Origin's son and twelve brave chieftains dashed into
- 20:19the dubious fray, rescued Vema and proud Rupert from the korus green array,
- 20:26surging steel. The krew forces onward came with ceaseless might, drown a smoth
- 20:32the scattered pandubs till the darksome hours of night seven pandubs, rooted by Vishma.
- 20:41Morning came, and the angry June rushed into the dreadful war. Krishna
- 20:47drove his milk quiet coursers onward, flew his sounding car, and before his
- 20:52monkey banner quailed a faint and frightened foes till next star on below the ocean,
- 20:59Whichma's pumped tribanner rose vainly. Then the good it is their stalwart.
- 21:03Vema Urgin brave strove with useless toil and valor, shattered ranks of war to
- 21:08save vainly too upon the brothers on the peerless Vishma fell gods in sky,
- 21:17nor earthly warriors which Ma's matchless might could quell fell Itistre's lofty standard shook his
- 21:23chariot, battle tossed, felt his proud and fiery coursers, and the dreadful
- 21:29day was lost. Sadeban knuckle vainly strove with all their might till their broken
- 21:34scattered forces rested in the shades of Night. Eighth Iravat slain Dilton's brother slain
- 21:47Morning saw the turn of battle which Man's jadiot tear was lain and his coursers
- 21:52uncontrolled, flew across the red and plain ill It fared with Gurul forces when
- 21:57their leader went astray, and their foremost chiefs and warriors with the dead and
- 22:03dying lay. But Ganhar's mounted princess rode across the battleground for its deeds and
- 22:08matchless churchers is Guanhar's realm renowned, and to spite the young Yabbad fierce,
- 22:15Guanhar's princess swore brave Yabbad, son of Virjun, whom a Naga princess bore
- 22:22mounted on their milk white churchers proudly did the princess sweep like the sea birds,
- 22:27skimming gaily over the bosom of the deep. Five of stout Gundhar's princes
- 22:33in that fatal combat fell, and the sixth, in fear and faintness,
- 22:37fled. Theoful tale to tell shortly. Las Irabat's triumph transient was the victor's
- 22:44joy. Alumbasha, dark and dreadful came against the gallant boy, fierce and
- 22:51faithful. Was the combat mournful as the tale to tell like a lotus rudely
- 22:56severed gallant son of Virgin fell Urgin heard the tale of sorrow, and his
- 23:03heart was filled with grief. Does he speak a father's sanguise? Faint?
- 23:07His accents few and brief. Wherefore Krishna four kingdom mingled in this fatal fray,
- 23:15kinsmen killed and comrades slaughtered, dear alas the price we pay wu unto
- 23:22Ustina's empire built upon our children's grave, tearer than the throne of monarchs,
- 23:27was itot young and brave, young in ears and rich in beauty, with
- 23:33thy mother's win some eye or does lay in my gallant warriar and thy father
- 23:38was not nigh, but thy young blood calls for vengeance. Noble Krishna,
- 23:45drive the car, Let them fill the father's proise. Those who slew the
- 23:49son in war and the dash that listening tear drop, and his words were
- 23:55few and brief, broken ranks and slaughter, chieftains spoken angry father's grief.
- 24:02V Mathur revenged it Abad, and as onward steel he flew brothers of the
- 24:07proud Dirudan in that fatal combat, sleeve still advanced the fatal carnage till the
- 24:12darksome close of day, when the undad and the warie, with the dead
- 24:17and dying lay nine Pandas rooted by Vishma fell. The thickening shades of darkness
- 24:26on the red and ghastly plain torchesed by the white tents flickered red fire showed
- 24:32the countless lane with the bosom sorrow Leddin proud Uridan drew his breath, wept
- 24:38the issue of the battle, and his warlike brothers dead, spent with grief
- 24:44and silent sorrow slowed the grown or gwent where arose in dewey starlight, whish
- 24:49most proud and snowy tenned, and which tears and hands gone joined. Thus
- 24:55the said Dourdan spoke, and his mournful beater accents oft by heaving sighs were
- 25:00broke Vishmah on thy matchless prois. Koru's hopes and fates depend gods nor man.
- 25:10Which war like Vishma can in field of war, content brave in war
- 25:15or sons of Pandu. But they face not Vishma's might in their fears and
- 25:19deathless hatred slay my brothers in the fire mind. I pledge O Chief of
- 25:26Curus, save Vastina's royal rays On, then sent King my father, grant
- 25:33the never failing grace. If within thy noble bosom pardon griell worts, I
- 25:38say, secret love for sans of Pandu holds a soft and partial sway.
- 25:45If thy inner heart's affection anto Pandu's sons incline, Grant that colonel laid my
- 25:51forces against a foeman's hostile line. Visma's heart was full of sadness and desighlids
- 25:57dropped a tear. Soft and mournful were his accents and his vision true and
- 26:03clear. Vain do jan is dis contest and thy mighty host this vain?
- 26:11Why it blood of friendly nations trends this red and rieking plain? They must
- 26:17win? Who strong in virtue fight for virtue, stainless laws terribly armed,
- 26:22a stallowed warrior who is armed in righteous cause? Think Doya. Then one
- 26:27gunderves took the captive, and the slave didn't Dujin run thy fatthers urchin righteous
- 26:33chief and brave. When in Machias fields a pasture captured we without skind didn't
- 26:41the June in his valor beat thy countless force and mind. Krishna now hath
- 26:47come to Urchun. Krishna drives his battle car cauls. Nor man can face
- 26:52these heroes in the field of righteous war. Ruin frowns upon Dee do yoden
- 26:57Am upon thy impious, in thy pride and in thy folly. Thou hast
- 27:03court at cruel faith. Wishma steel will do his duty and his hand.
- 27:08It is not far then many other chieftains follow. Fatal is this coool war
- 27:18down the day of mighty slaughter and of dread and deathful wor and sent.
- 27:22Vishma, in his anger, drove once more his sounding car morn to noon
- 27:27and noon's evening. None could face the victor's red broke and shattered. Faint
- 27:33and frightened. Bandus fled before his fat still amidst the dead and dying,
- 27:40moved his proud, resistless car till the gathering night and darkness closed the horrors
- 27:45of the war. Ten fall of Wishma Good, His dear gazed its sorrow
- 27:55on the dark and costly plain, shed his tears on chiefs and warriors.
- 27:59By the Vishma slay veign this unavailing battle, vein this woful loss of life
- 28:07against the death, compelling Vishma hopeless in this artless strife. As a lordly
- 28:14taskar tramples on a marsh of feeble reads, as a forest conflagration on the
- 28:18porch tootland feeds. Vishma rides upon my warriors in his mighty battle. Car
- 28:25God nor mortal chief can face him in the gory field of war. Vain
- 28:30our toil and vain the valor of our kinsmen loved and lost, vainly fight
- 28:36my faithful brothers by a luckless fortune. Crost nations pour their life blood vainly
- 28:42ceaseless weeks the sound of war. Krishna, stop this cruel carnage. Unto
- 28:48loots once more we go, said they hold them in night counsel, and
- 28:55the chiefs, in silence meet and and to enscient Vishma than marcy to Entriau.
- 29:02Vishma loved the son Sapandu with a father's loving heart. But from trot
- 29:07unto the ruden righteous Vishma not part son Sapandu, said the chieftain Prince Diurudan
- 29:15is my lord. Vishma is no faithless servant, nor will break his plighted
- 29:19word valiant aaryenable princess. But the chief is yet unborn. While I lead
- 29:26the course of battle, who the tidal war can turn? Listen more with
- 29:33vanquished foemen or who falls or takes to fight, cast his weapons, craves
- 29:37for marcy and send Vishma doth not fight Fishma, doth not fight the rival
- 29:44who submits fatigue and warm. Fishma doth not fight the wounded, doth not
- 29:48fight the women born back unto their tents the pandav starned Krishna deep and wise,
- 29:56he unto the ansiossertion turs in solemn whi or cries urchin there is hope
- 30:03of thrive. Had not faithful Vishma sworn he will fight known the warrior.
- 30:08He will fight No woman born female child was brave. Secondly, Trupet's youngest
- 30:15son of pride. Gods have turned him to a warrior, placed him by
- 30:19Yudistr's side, place him in the Vanna battle. Mighty Vishma leaves the strife,
- 30:26turnut ease, we fight and conquer, and the forefeet is his life.
- 30:30Shame, exclaimed the angry jun Not in secret. Heroes fight not behind
- 30:37a child or woman screen their valor and their mind. Krishna loth his archa
- 30:44Ujem to pursue his hateful strife trick against the seinless Vishma fraud upon his spotless
- 30:51life. No asdaal good and noble Krishna, as a child I climbed his
- 30:56knee. As a boy I called him father, hung upon him lovingly.
- 31:02Paris's conquest dearly purchased by a mean, deceitful strife, paris crown and Jewel's
- 31:07captor, one with Vishma's saintly life gravely answered nobl Krishna. Vishma falls by
- 31:17close of day, victim to the cause of virtue. He himself had showed
- 31:21the way. Dear or hated Bafoemena June, thou shalt fight and slay Wherefore
- 31:27else the blood of nations hast the fort from day to day. Morning dawned
- 31:34and mighty uchun of women, new young and bold drupet Monarchopanchal and bidout,
- 31:41stern and old, bravet Is Tear and his brothers, clad in arms and
- 31:45shining mail, rushed to Oar, where Wishma's standard gleamed and glittered in the
- 31:51gale, proud to it and marked their onset and its fatal purpose. New
- 31:56and his bravest man in chieftains against a fiery part and strew which composed a
- 32:01stalwart monarch and Ttrona's mighty son, a tavaliant bowman. Creeper stemmed the battle
- 32:07still unwon, and his younger fears. Dussasan, thirsting for the deathful war
- 32:14against the helmutdwaring Uchun drew his mighty battle car as the high and rugged mountain
- 32:21meets the angry ocean's sway, proud Dusassan war to Turjun in his wild and
- 32:25onward way. And as myriad white winged sea birds swoop upon the darksome wave,
- 32:31clouds of dirts and glistening lances drank the red blood of the brave other
- 32:37warlike kurchieftains came the bravest and the best drown hself and Wagadata Monarch of the
- 32:44farthest East, carbon Selia, mighty warrior, King of Madra's distant land,
- 32:51Princess from Abundhi's regions, Chiefs from Malab's rocky strand Chadrath, matchless fighter,
- 32:59King of Hindu sounding shore, Chitrasena anbiquirt countless chiefs and warriors more and the
- 33:06face the fiery pandabs, peerless in their warlike mind, long and dreadful reached
- 33:12a combat darkly closed the dubious fight. Thus they rose like clouds of summer,
- 33:17glistening dots, like lightning plate darksome grewed the sky with arrows. Ticker
- 33:22grew the gloomy shade. Cars went down and mailed horsemen, soldiers fell in
- 33:30dread array. Elephants with white tusks broken and its mangled bodies lay Urgin and
- 33:37the stalwart Veama, piercing through their countless foes, side by side, impelled
- 33:42their chariots where the palm tree standard rose. Where the peerless ancient Vishma,
- 33:47on the dark and fatal day, worrying with abandoned nations, still resistless,
- 33:52held his way on he came, his palm tree standard, still the front
- 33:59of battle. Neel and like sun from dark cloud's parting, Vishma burst on
- 34:04Arjin's view, and his eyes brave virgin shaded at the all inspiring side.
- 34:09Half he wished to turn for shelter from the chief of god like mind,
- 34:15but bold Krishna drove his chariot, whispered unto him his plan urgent placed the
- 34:21young Sigondi in the doabtful battle's van. Vishma viewed the bond of forces with
- 34:28a calm, unmoving face, saw not Arjin's fair gandhib saw not Wema's mighty
- 34:34mace. Smiled to see the young Secondi rushing to the battle's fore like the
- 34:40foam upon the billow. When the mighty storm winds roar, Vishma thought of
- 34:45ward he plaited, and the boat that he had sworn dropped his arms before
- 34:51the warrior, who was but a female borne and the standard which no warrior
- 34:57ever saw in bayse retreat idly stood upon the chariot tree with shade on Vishma's
- 35:02seeth, and the flagstaff fell dishevered on the crushed and broken car as from
- 35:08majure sky of midnight falls the Mateor's flaming star not by young Sikhandi's arrows,
- 35:15Vishma's palm tary standard fell nat Sikandi's feeble lances. Did the peerless Vishma quail
- 35:22true to oath. The bleeding chieftain torned, his darkening face away, torned
- 35:28and fell. The sun declining marked the closing of the day and the dust.
- 35:34The fatal battle truce came at the close of day Koruz and the silent
- 35:38Panda Suwant where Vishma, dyeing lay Urgin wept as for a father weeps his
- 35:45sad and soarwing son good. It is deer cours. The morning Kurukshetra's war

- 36:02arrows made the hero's dying bed, and in soft and gentle accents to to
- 36:07Yudhan. Thus he said, listen unto my words to Udan, atter to
- 36:14my latest breath, list to Vishma's dying counsel, and rever the voice of
- 36:20death and this dread and doubtful battle. If thy stony heart can grieve,
- 36:25save the chieftain's tomb to slaughter. Bid the fated nations, leave Grunt his
- 36:31kingdom to it his deer righteous men, beloved of Heaven, keep thyonas Dina's
- 36:37regians, be the hapless past forgiven vain alas the voice of Vishma, like
- 36:44the voice of angels spoke hatred dearer than his life, flood in the proud
- 36:50to you than woke. Darker grew the gloomy midnight, and the princess went
- 36:54their way on his bed of pointed arrows. Wish malone and dying lay Kern,
- 37:01though he loved not Vishma, whilst the chieftain lived in fame. Gently
- 37:07to the dying Wishma in the midnight darkness came wish Ma Heart, the tread
- 37:13of Kurn, and the opts glazing eye speak in love and speak in sadness,

- 37:39pale urgent beats. Not Noble Kurn in the deeds of well or done,
