- 0:00It's been so long since I've been inside you.
- 0:06Yeah. Yeah, he's talking to you,
- 0:07listeners. Yeah.
- 0:11I mean, he's obviously referring to your ears and the fact that
- 0:13there was no episode last week, no.
- 0:15Yeah, that was my fault. Sorry about that.
- 0:18Wow, it was my fault too. So kind.
- 0:21Of my fault as well. There you go.
- 0:24So I may have fallen asleep and. I see.
- 0:28So it wouldn't have happened anyway.
- 0:30That's very funny. OK.
- 0:31I'd set an alarm. We literally all flaked last
- 0:34week. That's great.
- 0:35OK oh, can I have a nap, set my alarm and go Yep, ready for 8 so
- 0:39I'll set my alarm for 7:00. Next thing I know wake up it's
- 0:42nine I'm oh shit. And then it's all good because
- 0:46Dad was sick so. I did think it was a little
- 0:50strange that you didn't send me a message.
- 0:51And I've actually spent most of this week wondering if you were
- 0:54like legit annoyed at me for biking on you because he, he
- 0:58didn't even go, Yeah, at school or anything like that.
- 1:00He was like, I got nothing. Welcome to Multiple Nerdgasm
- 1:06with your hosts Matt, Luke and Dan Multiple Nerdgasm, your
- 1:13guide to all things. Nerdy.
- 1:22What was I doing? Why didn't I?
- 1:24What couldn't I record? You had been out.
- 1:26Yeah, I know, but where was I? I can't remember.
- 1:28Yeah, it doesn't matter. No, I think you were home in
- 1:32your bed. You just wanted to sleep.
- 1:34You just. Didn't didn't want to.
- 1:35No, I was, I was, I was at this time, but there was a reason I
- 1:39out the night before I had something on and I've forgotten
- 1:41what it was. I'm trying to think, is it
- 1:43anything? Anything that was remotely
- 1:44interesting because you were? A wild boys afloat.
- 1:48Was that a float? I was.
- 1:50I was a. Boys afloat.
- 1:51Yeah. Wow.
- 1:52Boys afloat. I think I was a Macy's Day
- 1:54Parade float. No, I was.
- 1:56Was that a concert? I think I'm getting a.
- 1:59Concert we, I think I, we think we both assumed you were in a
- 2:02concert. When you say you've got a late
- 2:04night, I think that's just what I assume.
- 2:07I'm getting old, I'm sure it'll come back to me.
- 2:10Sure, it was a great concert. You know how I know I'm getting?
- 2:12Old. It wasn't the.
- 2:13Concert really fucking hurts right now.
- 2:16Yeah. Yeah, my knee still hurts from.
- 2:21From 30 years ago. From no, no, from two months,
- 2:24packs. From packs, all right, Two
- 2:26months ago. It still hurts people who go
- 2:29back to the doctor about a knee. Like one of those guys from
- 2:34Skyrim. Yeah, well, I used to go from
- 2:38the original Skyrim. Took a stare to the knee.
- 2:41Everyone comes. From that time they took it.
- 2:43Out to the knee. Do you know where that actually
- 2:45comes from? I took an arrow to the knee.
- 2:48I got married. Ah.
- 2:50Is that what? That means I.
- 2:53Took an arrow to the knee so I like got there.
- 2:55Used to be an adventurer. Proposed right now I got.
- 2:57Then I got married. Oh, that's so funny.
- 3:00Yeah. How did I not know that?
- 3:02Huh. I thought it was.
- 3:03I mean, because it's it's you thought a world where you
- 3:06literally would take an arrow to the knee.
- 3:07There's no reason. Yeah, but a lot of them took it.
- 3:10A lot of them took an hour. To the knee.
- 3:12I mean, let's be honest, a lot of them said exactly the same
- 3:14things in exactly the same voice.
- 3:16So instead of incarnation. Yeah.
- 3:18So instead of off being an adventurer, they became a guard
- 3:21in their town. Yeah.
- 3:23So they could be close to their wife.
- 3:25Unlike our wives, who we just married.
- 3:29We took home. Never saw her again, I thought.
- 3:35You've been in real life for a minute.
- 3:40But in the game, I don't actually think I remembered
- 3:43where I'd brought the house. And.
- 3:46Dropped my life. I know where my life.
- 3:48Yeah, I know where my wife is. And pop back and see if they'd
- 3:51added the feature to. You know they did.
- 3:55No, they never did. Never consummated that marriage.
- 3:57My wife was a was a working girl so I I don't mean prostitute, I
- 4:02just meant she had a job right I.
- 4:04Think we all had the same wife in Skyrim?
- 4:06Yeah, but did you? I made it keep working.
- 4:09She was like, I could stay home and look after the kids and I
- 4:10was like, no, if you're going to bring in some coin, go out.
- 4:13And work, she's working at that market stall in White Run.
- 4:16Yeah. Yeah, that's it.
- 4:18Then you can rock up and down again.
- 4:19Go. Got any money for me even though
- 4:22I'm just carrying a lot of shit that I don't need that I could
- 4:25sell? Was she the hottest 1 or was she
- 4:27just the first girl you could? Marry very first.
- 4:29That's. The question, Yeah, yeah.
- 4:33Just like in real life. That's right, first one, who was
- 4:36up for it? First one, who wanted it?
- 4:40Christ, Is this the podcast? Apparently so.
- 4:44What's been happening? Take some twists and turns
- 4:46already. Apparently I can't remember
- 4:49what's been happening. What the fuck I was doing last
- 4:52week? I had to, I had to struggle to
- 4:54remember what I've been watching and I think it's because I
- 4:57haven't really been watching anything.
- 4:59I keep running, go to the movies and see Predator and I want to
- 5:02see Predator before I want. To see that I want to see that I
- 5:05do want to see that way. I haven't seen it yet.
- 5:07Movies though if I'm seeing it's literally wicked.
- 5:10It's had a really good second week as well, so, and normally I
- 5:15go off movies. The second week is the week you
- 5:19should be judging, not the first weekend, yeah.
- 5:21Right. Do people still want to see it
- 5:23after the people who see it first say it's either good or
- 5:26bad? Yep.
- 5:28Yep. That's a very that's a very good
- 5:30point. Stranger Things, I've watched 2
- 5:35episodes of that. It's out, everyone's watched.
- 5:37It yes, I did know that didn't it only come out today Matt,
- 5:40you've been very. Yesterday.
- 5:42Very expeditious. OK, wow.
- 5:44Just watched 2 episodes last night.
- 5:45You saw it. You saw any good?
- 5:47Watched it. Fair enough.
- 5:48Yeah, it's good. Yeah.
- 5:49Is there a time jump? Not not a time jump enough that
- 5:56explains their physical appearance.
- 5:58But you know, I'm not I'm not. I'm aware of how reality works
- 6:02and it's ATV show so that's fine.
- 6:04Yeah, I thought they might because wasn't the original plan
- 6:08that there's going to be a time jump from the first season to
- 6:10the second season of like 10 years?
- 6:12No, the original plan was that the season, second season
- 6:14wouldn't be about these people at all.
- 6:16Yeah, but everyone loved the kids so much that they were.
- 6:19No, we need the. Kids now about them.
- 6:21Yeah, exactly. Yeah.
- 6:22And then now it's now it's a kind of ongoing story.
- 6:25It wasn't supposed to be. It was supposed to be a series
- 6:27of completely different, interesting, weird stories.
- 6:31Look, that sounds fine too, but I'll be honest, other than that
- 6:341B plot in the second season, I think these guys have done
- 6:38pretty fucking well. Yeah, yeah.
- 6:41Oh yeah, yeah, I'll say this so far.
- 6:43High concept genre shows that have survived a second season,
- 6:47let alone 5. Is this the 5th?
- 6:50Yeah, it's the fifth season. I know.
- 6:51I mean, this show's really interesting.
- 6:53Like, it does stuff. Yeah, it's not, you know, the
- 6:56shows. It's good and.
- 6:57I watched watching season 4 last year, or fucking three years,
- 7:00whatever it was going. This is fucking great.
- 7:03This is the best yet. Yeah, I think Season 4 so far,
- 7:06Season 4 grabs me more than this season has.
- 7:09But I mean, this season is the general they're building a.
- 7:12Heavy metal guy in this one for. You.
- 7:14Yeah, that's all. Along with this.
- 7:17Well, yeah, Eddie, but then like, I don't know, and Vechner
- 7:20and all that kind of stuff. Like the I feel like right off
- 7:22the bat season 4, I was like, oh fuck, this is good.
- 7:25Whereas this is good, but it's slower because I think they're,
- 7:29you know. I think they're reintroducing
- 7:31you back to the characters because it has been so long.
- 7:35I did have to watch a recap. Yeah, Sat and watched every and
- 7:38I was like, OK, we've got, I've found a couple on YouTube.
- 7:40I've got one that's 20 minutes, I've got one that's an hour,
- 7:43I've got one that's two hours, and I've got one that's 4 1/2
- 7:46hours long. Isn't that surely that's just
- 7:48the episodes that you need to watch that play directly into
- 7:51this, yeah. You'd think so.
- 7:53I think we watched the one that was 20 minutes long and it was.
- 7:57That's a good enough for me. Except we started watching
- 8:00Season 5 and we were like, Oh yeah.
- 8:02It didn't really go into plot nuances, like why were they
- 8:06trying to teach these kids to have psychic powers and stuff
- 8:08like that? So I don't remember any of that.
- 8:10And then I don't even know if they ever explained that.
- 8:12I don't think they ever really did explain why I.
- 8:16Guess and well, that's the thing though, is that that's fine.
- 8:19Except. But also Russians what they did
- 8:20as well. What's that?
- 8:23Russia's doing the same thing as well.
- 8:25Yes, yes, yes. But in the 80's the Americans
- 8:27and the Russians were both doing fucking weird telepric stuff.
- 8:31I mean, we still are dear kids, but we still are man.
- 8:34Probably still are. I don't know if Trump would
- 8:38stand for that. I don't know if you went into
- 8:40the White House today and said like an ESPN shit, Trump would
- 8:44be like, I'm going to give. You.
- 8:45I think he'd I think he'd get a bit scared.
- 8:47I think he'd go not sure he'd know what was going on.
- 8:51You. Were blowing oh.
- 8:56That happened. Yeah, that happened.
- 8:58We haven't talked. About that, well, in the break
- 8:59I'm. Surprised that didn't make it
- 9:00into the spreadsheet. Yeah.
- 9:03I mean, was it? He's not denying he's blood.
- 9:06He's blowing anyone. He's only denying it was
- 9:08Clinton. Apparently, you know, different.
- 9:10Yeah, very strange. Speaking of Stranger Things,
- 9:17just don't understand. There's a lot of understand.
- 9:24We've got some follow up about Star Wars and I know we've kind
- 9:29of there was a while ago where I feel like we've kind of done
- 9:32this before, but this is I think we've used.
- 9:34Absolutely. Headlines a couple.
- 9:36Of times, but yes. Yes.
- 9:38Definitely, he has said. Now Ryan Johnson has said his
- 9:43Star Wars trilogy is dead. Not vaguely alluded to it, not.
- 9:47He's actually. Said oh, he's not sure.
- 9:50It's not shelved, it's dead. He's a foreign I.
- 9:53Realised. I've realised that Knives Out is
- 9:57now a trilogy. Yeah, he's got closure.
- 9:59Like he can say, no, I made a trilogy.
- 10:01Those are good Star Wars. Trilogy and they were good
- 10:03movies. They're good movies.
- 10:04Yeah, they're OK. Yeah, yeah, just stay away from
- 10:07Star Wars. Stay in your lane.
- 10:09Yeah, stay away from my baby. I still like how the fact that
- 10:13like 'cause Disney announced that Ryan Joss is a good get a
- 10:16trilogy before the last year I came out and then after the last
- 10:20year I came. Out didn't happen.
- 10:22Ryan Johnson was the only one. Yep, I'm working on it.
- 10:25It's happening, it's happening. No one, but no one at Disney
- 10:29mentioned it ever again. And.
- 10:31All these other directors and whatever, they've announced shit
- 10:34and they're all just like, I don't know what's going on.
- 10:35But he was like, no, no, I'm doing it.
- 10:37I'm working on it. I've got my little scrapbook.
- 10:39With or without Disney. But no.
- 10:43It's dead good as. He could cares at this point.
- 10:49I mean, you didn't make it. I honest to God I might not even
- 10:53watch whatever fucking does come out, if anything.
- 10:56Are they even making something now?
- 10:57I don't know. Yeah.
- 10:58Mandalorian Grogor. Yep.
- 11:00Yeah, we keep forgetting. 100% I'm not going to say that.
- 11:05I will. Yeah, I'm not.
- 11:08I watched a really good video. Patrick Willem, you know him,
- 11:13Dan, He's there's a lot of video essays on name YouTube.
- 11:17I just don't know which one it is.
- 11:19He did one about Star Wars, and it was basically, it was about
- 11:21what do we even want from Star Wars movies these days?
- 11:24And it was like, like, Disney doesn't know.
- 11:27Do we know? The whole point was that, like,
- 11:29OK, And then at some point they figured out, well, they like
- 11:33Boba Fett. So here's a show that's about a
- 11:35guy who's basically Boba Fett, and it was The Mandalorian.
- 11:38And then it's like, OK, like they just keep making stuff
- 11:41that's basically the same as old stuff.
- 11:45Yeah, I really think the worst thing they did was get rid of
- 11:49all of the what is it legend stuff because I think that's
- 11:54they confuse a lot of fans. Yeah, but I think they didn't
- 11:58want to have to go back and check every time they wanted to
- 12:01do anything. Yeah, like that.
- 12:03It was just too much stuff. Too much stuff, but that was my
- 12:08Star Wars. Too much weird stuff too I.
- 12:10Hate to tell you Luke, but they don't give a shit what we want.
- 12:16And I, I don't mean just we as the general public, I'm not
- 12:18jumping on that bandwagon. I just mean the the the the 40
- 12:21to 50 year old original Star Wars fans.
- 12:24No, no, I know. Who they're making any of this
- 12:27for? Do they know who they're making
- 12:30anything for at this stage though?
- 12:32I think, I think they literally flip a coin and say, will 18 to
- 12:3729 year olds watch this? Yeah.
- 12:39No, the kids who are watching Stranger Things, will they watch
- 12:42this? Yeah, I don't care.
- 12:47I'm still I'm, I'm, I am hopeful for the television show of the X
- 12:52Wings Rogue Squadron. I'm hopeful for that.
- 12:55Oh yeah, TV show. Because.
- 12:56If they do that right, that could be really good.
- 12:58Oh, that's the other thing, too. And this, this segues into
- 13:01something else. It's in you.
- 13:02They're making that Starfighter movie with Ryan Gosling.
- 13:06They are making something that I'm sort of interested in.
- 13:08Yes. I watch Ryan Gosling.
- 13:11Yeah, segue slightly. I'll watch him in Project Hail
- 13:15Mary. Yeah, which now I'll say this
- 13:18before you watch this trailer. Fucking spoiler alert.
- 13:21Yeah, I. Believe what they've shown in
- 13:24this trailer. I know same.
- 13:26And I so I've told Jenna, don't watch it because I want, I mean,
- 13:31maybe it's one of those things where I'm like, am I just being
- 13:34precious because I read the book and I just appreciated the
- 13:37surprises. That they ruined under that
- 13:39trailer was a spoiler for the book.
- 13:42Yeah, right. Unless they're doing the movie
- 13:43differently, but it doesn't look like they are.
- 13:46Well, they said, Lord, it's directed by Lord and Miller, the
- 13:49guys who got kicked off Han Solo.
- 13:52And they said that it was a marketing decision by Amazon to
- 13:54include what they did in the trailer.
- 13:57And I'm like, that's such a bum because they're worried that
- 13:59people, they want people to know what it is in a way that in the
- 14:05book, when I was reading the book, I liked finding out, oh,
- 14:09that's what this is. You were already invested.
- 14:11But they don't want people to have to do.
- 14:13That the script on you. Yeah, they don't want people to
- 14:16get surprised by certain things, so yeah, which is a shame, but I
- 14:20mean, it looks fucking excellent.
- 14:22Yeah, it looks. I mean, by the trailer it looks
- 14:25like someone saw Interstellar and went more fun.
- 14:28Needs to be really. Upbeat and hopeful.
- 14:31Yeah. With with like less, I mean, I
- 14:35guess I haven't seen it yet, but you know interstellar it's a
- 14:38little bit wishy washy with the science at the end.
- 14:40Yes, it and then this I mean based on the book does not it's
- 14:46all it's very. Like Interstellar.
- 14:49Yeah. And the book goes so high
- 14:51concept that you like, you can't.
- 14:54How have you possibly still made this feel scientific at this
- 14:58stage? Right.
- 14:59Yeah, yeah, the yeah. You can't possibly know anything
- 15:04about this stuff that you were writing.
- 15:06About with no but he consulted like tons of scientists.
- 15:11He is great. Excellent.
- 15:12He's dead set. Excellent anyway.
- 15:14Is he like a new Arthur C Clarke?
- 15:16Yeah, I would say that's probably a good comparison.
- 15:20Everything in this like like the Martian is based on like.
- 15:25Is this actually feasible? And if it if it's not, he
- 15:29doesn't include it like. Because if you look at like a
- 15:31lot of Arthur C Clarke, that was the same, like a lot of his
- 15:34stuff that he put in, like NASA has actually done tests on that.
- 15:37He was the first one to talk about the satellite.
- 15:39Like he was talking about stuff that was possible, right?
- 15:43Yeah, story, but. Yes, yeah, yeah, that's that's
- 15:47well, that's what The Martian was.
- 15:48So why The Martian was so good? That's why The Martian film
- 15:51disappointed me slightly, because it Ridley Scott, as he
- 15:54does, went off the rails a little bit at the end there.
- 15:57As he changed the end, yeah, made it a bit more.
- 15:59Flying like Iron Man. Where he marvelized it.
- 16:02Yeah, in the book he says I'm going to cut the finger off my
- 16:05suit and fly like Iron Man. And then the people at NASA go,
- 16:08that's fucking stupid, don't do that.
- 16:10He goes, yeah, you're right, I won't do that.
- 16:11He doesn't because it's like. Stupid.
- 16:14Yeah. They're like, you're just going
- 16:16to shoot off into space. You can't.
- 16:17Yeah, that's why I like that. And then in the movie, really,
- 16:21Scott was like, no, he's going to do it.
- 16:22Yeah, just beat like a rudder. I've made hundreds, thousands of
- 16:29Iron Man flights. You guys still should watch Ad
- 16:34Astra because. Oh.
- 16:36Yeah. Definitely in the same zone as
- 16:39all the movies we've just talked about, except it's not nearly as
- 16:42good. But it absolutely could have
- 16:46been if. But it's all fucking dumb Iron
- 16:49Man flying sequences. Right it I mean, as long as I
- 16:53know it's. Probably fine.
- 16:54It continuously acts like it's supposed to be interstellar, but
- 16:59then acts more like Iron Man. I just think it's particularly
- 17:04like the The Martian example took me out of the movie so much
- 17:09specifically because in the fucking book they talk about how
- 17:13it's stupid. Like why would you then include
- 17:16it? Like why would he then do it?
- 17:17It doesn't. He literally do a thing of a
- 17:18conversation about how it's nonsense.
- 17:20Somebody said people that read books are smarter than people
- 17:24who watch movies. So yeah, movie that doesn't
- 17:27count. I'll say this part it.
- 17:30Literally says that's not possible.
- 17:35I liked the book of 2001 A Space Odyssey better than the movie
- 17:392001 A Space Odyssey. But even more than that, I love
- 17:43the 2 short stories that they based the movie script on.
- 17:49I think 1's called The Sentinel and one's called something else,
- 17:53but they're fucking excellent. Like Martians came to Earth
- 17:57trillions of years ago or whatever.
- 18:00I know that it wasn't trillions. Don't write in and.
- 18:04They're right in Martians. Yeah, we weren't there and put a
- 18:09fucking beacon on the moon so that when humans reached the
- 18:12moon, they would know we've discovered flight.
- 18:17Yeah. You know, like into orbit
- 18:18flight. Like there's such a great
- 18:20premise. Yeah.
- 18:21You know, And that's just a short.
- 18:22A short. Story concept.
- 18:23Fucking great. Rendezvous at Rhyme is great.
- 18:29Aren't they making? A movie of that, too.
- 18:30They keep saying that. Yeah, maybe.
- 18:32Yeah, they do. The thing I like about
- 18:34Rendezvous Rama is that it doesn't explain everything.
- 18:37It leaves so much stuff just on the.
- 18:39Table Luke loves when they do that.
- 18:43Oh, I still I I actually do love that book.
- 18:47And then the sequels apparently just butcher it all because it's
- 18:50not written by him. They're not written by him.
- 18:52I actually didn't mind the sequels as well.
- 18:54I actually did enjoy them. They were.
- 18:56They were very different. Used to read books.
- 18:59A lot of books. Yeah, now he now he can't.
- 19:01Long Books I. Forgot how to read, it's not my
- 19:05fault. Forgot.
- 19:11Yeah, this looks like a movie you have to see at the cinema,
- 19:13I'll say that. I will, I have to I'm so.
- 19:18Excited about a few movies this year that I have not seen at the
- 19:22cinema so. I think this this might be a
- 19:24case where I'm going to be disappointed because I don't
- 19:28know how it could be as good as I want it to be.
- 19:31It's because I love the book so much.
- 19:33True, true. But we'll see it.
- 19:34Looks pretty good though. It does.
- 19:36That's the that's the problem now.
- 19:37I mean, you're more excited. Yeah.
- 19:39It looked a bit of shit and then turned out to be good.
- 19:42I'd probably. Just right, 10 for expectations
- 19:45a little bit. Yeah, go in with a copy of the
- 19:48book, and anytime you're not liking the movie, just just
- 19:51touch the book and just remember that the book hasn't changed.
- 19:53Yeah, yeah, the book's still the book.
- 19:56Yeah, true, true. We'll just.
- 20:00Take the book and read it as you're going along.
- 20:02See where it changes. Yeah.
- 20:07Yeah, very excited. Like one of those book, book and
- 20:14tape combos we used to get in the 80s where you used to get a
- 20:17book and a cassette and someone would read it, but you were also
- 20:21expected to read along. You'll not, I think.
- 20:24Back now the length of some audiobooks, now most audiobooks
- 20:29now like how the fuck do we have those on cassettes like no
- 20:32wonder they were on so many cassettes they.
- 20:34Went on a lot of cassettes. Yeah.
- 20:35Yeah, because the cassette is like 90 minutes, right?
- 20:3845 minutes or so. Yeah, yeah.
- 20:41Yeah, because I used to have like, the Styles radio drama and
- 20:44yeah, that used to be on quite a few cassette tapes.
- 20:47I had that, yeah. Yeah, now I've got my phone just
- 20:51has a kind of audiobooks on it. Yeah, it's just I've got the
- 20:54digital version. Yeah.
- 20:57And it's really good because I think Luke did his voice and so
- 21:02did Oh, who played Lando? Billy.
- 21:08D Williams, Billy D Williams. Billy D Williams and of course,
- 21:11Anthony Daniels. Now that I think about it, Billy
- 21:14is short for William. His name is William D Williams.
- 21:18William D Williams. Yeah, that's great.
- 21:21I hope the D stands for Dillium. William Jillian Williams.
- 21:27Is it the name of this episode? Yeah, I'm writing that down.
- 21:36There's also a trailer for the the new Silent Hill movie that
- 21:40is actually a remake, oh adaptation I should say, of the
- 21:44Silent Hill 2 video game. Yes, not a remake of the Silent
- 21:49Hill movie. No.
- 21:51It's no one has asked for that. It's directed by the same
- 21:53person, directed by Christophe Ganz again.
- 21:56Who? I mean, he can make a good movie
- 21:58when he. He wants to.
- 21:59He has. He's made a he's made a movie
- 22:01that I really like by the Hood of the Wolf.
- 22:03He made a movie I didn't like, Silent Hill.
- 22:07Hopefully he's made it a Silent Hill movie.
- 22:08They do like this time. I mean, it's just a straight
- 22:10adaptation of the game, so which is what people want the first
- 22:13time. Yeah.
- 22:14I think he learned his lesson with that.
- 22:15I think people have learnt that they don't want people to come
- 22:18in and change it, like Assassin's Invert and stuff
- 22:21like. That, well, I think he he could
- 22:24have done that. The problem I had with the first
- 22:26one, and I'm probably a lot of other people, is that he took
- 22:29stuff from Silent Hill 2 that's very specific to Silent Hill 2
- 22:34and to the character of James Sunderland and just put it in a
- 22:37movie where it's like, well, hang on a minute, It doesn't
- 22:40make any sense now, because that thing specifically.
- 22:43The metaphor. Exactly.
- 22:45It's the reason that that thing is the monster in that movie is
- 22:49because of what happened to James.
- 22:51Like, it's a psychological exploration of, you know, things
- 22:56that happened to him, like. Yeah.
- 23:00No, I think they've learned now that just mate the same.
- 23:04Make the game the same movie, don't change anything.
- 23:07Just make it and people will like it like The Last of Us.
- 23:12Yeah, sure, they'll let. They didn't like that one
- 23:15because it got different though, right?
- 23:16Haven't you got soured on that now?
- 23:18I haven't watched. It Oh no, I think people.
- 23:20I couldn't stand it. I think it's because we never
- 23:23played the game, but I thought people were generally well
- 23:25received except for a few things.
- 23:28I think it was the first season I thought people went off the
- 23:30game. Yeah, maybe the people were
- 23:32loving that. Person Well, people went off on
- 23:34the second game as well. That's true.
- 23:38Yeah, that's true. They were mad about that Abby
- 23:40girl. I don't.
- 23:41Remember why? Because I think because she was
- 23:45pretty. I think she killed the guy that
- 23:48was in it in the first one or something.
- 23:51And. Somebody said husband.
- 23:53That pissed people off. And that's the only one that can
- 24:00find out for us. I could, I actually I own both
- 24:04games, I just never played them because that's why I do.
- 24:08I collect PlayStation. Actually I've been playing my
- 24:10PlayStation because guys, I don't know how I didn't know
- 24:15this. No Man's Sky has fucking PSVR 2
- 24:18support. Fucking what?
- 24:22You need to write in and ask back for every hour you've
- 24:25played this game. Not in VR so you must feel
- 24:28gypped. At this point I.
- 24:31So I've got my headsets right here now because I finally
- 24:33cracked this thing out. You, you, you walk around, it's
- 24:38fucking 3D because it's in the headset.
- 24:40And then when you get in your ship, you're literally in your
- 24:42ship and you look around and it's 3D and you're in the
- 24:44fucking ship. And to fly, you grab the
- 24:46controls. It's I was like, fucking hell,
- 24:50how did I not know this? Doesn't have to play any more
- 24:52games now he's found his game. Ridiculous.
- 24:55And at first it put me off because I'm in the middle of an
- 24:58expedition, which is one of the timed events, and I basically
- 25:02have to relearn the controls because it's not.
- 25:04You can't just play it with the controller, with the headset, of
- 25:07course. Yeah, it's all like to get out
- 25:09of the ship, you have to grab the cockpit and push it open and
- 25:12then you get out. It's like it's fucking mad.
- 25:16Amazing. Like it basically made they
- 25:19didn't just slap this together is what I'm saying.
- 25:21It's like there was thought put into it.
- 25:23And it's really cool the fact that it's still just the first
- 25:26game that you purchased. It's not you haven't had to
- 25:29download DLC or anything. They're still just doing massive
- 25:33updates. I did spend, I mean I had to buy
- 25:34the PS-5 version, but it's the like Black Friday sales.
- 25:37I got a copy for 10 bucks from Amazon and I just was like, oh,
- 25:42it's got PSPR support. What the fuck so.
- 25:45Yeah, like if you'd already owned it, you wouldn't have to
- 25:47have paid DLC or anything for it.
- 25:50They're still just updating that game like I said they would.
- 25:54Yeah. Anyway, it's great.
- 25:56It's really cool. I didn't.
- 25:58Wish I had APS 5 to occasionally just pop on play spider man.
- 26:02Does spider man have VR support? That'd be fun.
- 26:04No, I don't think so. OK, so I did buy in the Black
- 26:08Friday sale. I bought some other VR
- 26:09supporting games in particular because I wanted to use it a bit
- 26:12more. I bought the 7th guest with VR
- 26:16support. I was like, oh, that's fun.
- 26:18Please tell me this is not enhanced graphics.
- 26:21It's. Just I don't know, find.
- 26:22A 1994. Yeah, yeah, I'll.
- 26:26Let you know I got that. I got the Alien incursion game.
- 26:33It's an alien. Oh, sorry, Aliens.
- 26:35I suppose because you're a Marine game that I'm probably
- 26:38going to. Hate.
- 26:40Yeah, because. Everyone's going to be
- 26:41constantly going, oh, it's a Xenomorph.
- 26:43Yeah, exactly. But like, I'll be actually be
- 26:46there and they'll be saying it to me and I'll be going stop
- 26:48fucking ceremorph guy, I'll be eaten by a not a xenomorph.
- 26:54But but it is a xenomorph. It's just they're all
- 26:56xenomorphs, you and you and I, as animals.
- 26:58Private shut the fuck up and shoot them.
- 27:04So we got that and I bought a Hitman has our support Hitman 3
- 27:11or World of Assassination or whatever it is.
- 27:13Yes, the chicken strangle. Some people, awesome.
- 27:16Shove them in the trunk of a car or.
- 27:18Yeah. Yeah, or in I saw a funny video
- 27:21where on YouTube where somebody was just throwing all the bodies
- 27:24into the wine press in like, Oh yeah, and then just press all
- 27:29the bodies in the wine. It's ridiculous.
- 27:31I love the Hitman games, I love them and I love how random it
- 27:35is. Like you the, the, the latest
- 27:36one, not the latest latest, but the first one of the latest
- 27:40batch. I think the first one you were
- 27:43in like a Moroccan bazaar and it's like crowd and it's
- 27:46political and there's like like protesters swarming around the,
- 27:50the embassy and you've got to get in and kill this one guy, 1
- 27:54diplomat. And then after that it's like
- 27:56you're in Italy, you're in the countryside.
- 27:59Finally there's A1A man. It's just like they're so
- 28:02different. Yeah, they're, they're just too
- 28:05slow for me. I just can't get into them.
- 28:08I mean you can just run and gun it if you want.
- 28:10You can't do. That possible?
- 28:12Yeah, that's hard, isn't it? Probably harder than.
- 28:18Well, yeah, it depends on depends, right?
- 28:20Because the stealth part is actually quite difficult.
- 28:22So if you're better at. Shooters take it seriously.
- 28:26It's difficult because you can spend a lot of time restarting,
- 28:30going back to a save because you're like, no, I'm.
- 28:33Dressing up as a waiter and then literally delivering fucking
- 28:35hors d'oeuvres. 4 hours. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 28:41There's one where you you dress up as a roadie and you literally
- 28:44just go with the fucking stage crew and set up the stage, but
- 28:47you like put fucking water under his effects pedal.
- 28:52Electrocute him. Yeah, there's some hitman news
- 28:57in the news this week. Very good.
- 28:59In the in the in the the new upcoming one, rapper Eminem
- 29:04hires you to assassinate Slim Shady.
- 29:10What? Now I don't know a lot about
- 29:12Eminem, but I've I've heard of Slim Shady.
- 29:14He's don't tell you to assassinate Insane Clown Posse.
- 29:18That would be funny. I loved it.
- 29:22I mean, I've honestly, I couldn't tell you the name of an
- 29:24ICP song, but I love that somebody went, we're going to
- 29:29call ourselves Insane Clown Posse and we're going to be a
- 29:32posse of insane clowns and our fans are also going to be Insane
- 29:39Clowns. No, they're Juggalos, aren't
- 29:41they? Yeah, but they're fucking
- 29:43insane, right? And they're clowns.
- 29:45Fucking insane. He's not wrong, Luke.
- 29:46He's not wrong. He's not wrong.
- 29:48No, I've seen some of them. Yeah.
- 29:52Like, like people holding up signs, like I'll spit in your
- 29:56mouth, that type of thing. And people actually, yes,
- 29:59please. Yes, it's a very strange fandom.
- 30:07Yeah, there he is. Insane Clown Posse song I know
- 30:10is the one that they did the the The Slim Shady parody is the
- 30:17Mainus Yes that they did on Howard Stern's show back right
- 30:22500 years ago now. So you'll be able to go and kill
- 30:26Slim Shady in VR now. Yes, yes.
- 30:28So back-to-back to the point, yeah, I will be able to.
- 30:32This does say it supports PSVR too.
- 30:35So I'm curious though, because Hitman's third person, no
- 30:40usually. Yeah.
- 30:43Maybe you follow him around. Yeah.
- 30:45And occasionally looks back like are you still there?
- 30:48Yeah, you don't play the game. You just, I guess you could
- 30:51still have it third person and look around.
- 30:53I just never, I don't think I've ever played a game quite like
- 30:55that. You just.
- 30:55Control his head with your head. Yeah.
- 30:58No, no, you do play first person when on the VR scene and played
- 31:03and you've just got your hands that got in front of you the.
- 31:07Bloods on my head the. First first hit, man.
- 31:10On the PS2 when you're out in the snow, you fucking follow
- 31:13that guy to the men's room and while he's pissing you fucking
- 31:16just grot him to death right there at the Universal.
- 31:18I was like, this is a good game, this.
- 31:20Is a very good game. Oh, look what they've done here.
- 31:27Say hi to you. Kill Slim Shady.
- 31:28All right, cool. That's fun.
- 31:30Yeah, I mean. I mean, look, I don't give a
- 31:33shit about Eminem, but that's funny, so whatever.
- 31:37Yeah, good tie in. You know, like game related
- 31:45news. Oh, I mean, this is game news, I
- 31:47suppose the Zelda movie has Oh yeah, photos.
- 31:53There's a couple of photos. I mean, it's not a huge amount
- 31:55of stuff, but. Looks.
- 31:57Off putting, it's off putting. It doesn't look horrible, it's
- 32:00just it's weird I. Don't know man, this looks
- 32:02better. Fucking Masters of the Universe
- 32:04said photos. Yeah, this gave me a little bit
- 32:06of hope. It's just that I've Lincoln
- 32:08Zelda aren't real people and so seeing real people and going
- 32:12that's Link, OK? No, it's not.
- 32:13He's a cartoon. It's a little.
- 32:14Bullion Cosplay. Yeah.
- 32:16They don't really hang around together.
- 32:20Yes they do. And are you see, you haven't
- 32:21played the fucking Breath of the Wild or anything.
- 32:24No, no. Oh, they do now.
- 32:27Yeah. Yeah, up until then, the Yeah,
- 32:31like in the Oh, a link to the past, they didn't really hang
- 32:37around. No, he, he didn't know her.
- 32:39He was. He was a little fucking
- 32:41carpenter's son or whatever. He was, yeah.
- 32:45He was the Jesus of viral. Now is he gonna talk?
- 32:49I. Was like and like, oh Carpenter.
- 32:52Carpenter's son, yeah, Yeah, Sorry, Yeah, no.
- 32:54No, no, no, no. You were right.
- 32:55I was just trying to think. Wait, wait.
- 32:56What did he what? Because he he died and came
- 32:59back, Dad. Gave him the fucking sword and
- 33:00shield, Matt. Are they going to?
- 33:05What are they going to? Is he going to talk?
- 33:06Is he going? To talk.
- 33:08I don't know. Yeah, he's going to go all the
- 33:12time. I don't know.
- 33:16He talks in Breath of the Wild. You just don't hear it.
- 33:19People just respond like, but he is obviously communicating with
- 33:23them because they respond to him.
- 33:26Have I missed something? Is there like a Is there a meme
- 33:29where he doesn't talk? Well, he never talks.
- 33:32He's never talked. He doesn't talk.
- 33:35People respond to him as if he's talked, but he never actually
- 33:39says anything, so I'm just going to.
- 33:41What's that link to the past where you guys are fucking?
- 33:43They go, they go, what's that? Oh, you're on a quest like.
- 33:47But he never actually says anything, you know what I mean?
- 33:52And Breath of the Wild's the same.
- 33:54People talk to him and they respond as if he's saying stuff,
- 33:57but he never actually says anything.
- 33:59Huh, huh. I'm assuming that the movie is
- 34:04not going to be like that, because that would be.
- 34:06Very amazing if they. Did if they were like just.
- 34:08True to the source, it's. Just literally just standing
- 34:10there and they go, what's that? Oh yeah, OK, Yep, let's go.
- 34:15And then you're like what the fuck are you talking about?
- 34:18Matt, did you watch the Mario Brothers movie?
- 34:22No, the new one. Oh, you got?
- 34:24Yeah. You don't mean the Bob Hoskins
- 34:25one? Obviously.
- 34:26No, you know what I watched. Yeah.
- 34:27Did you watch that? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 34:28The hell out of that. It is.
- 34:30It is very good I I like it very much.
- 34:32I saw this trailer gets. To the castle to find Peach and
- 34:35the guard goes she's in a different castle and then the
- 34:37other guard goes he's just fucking with you.
- 34:39I'm confusing inside. I should buy it, it's probably
- 34:46kid Lyra friendly, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 34:48yeah. Yeah, yeah, I figured.
- 34:51Yeah. Murder or rape in it?
- 34:54They're the only two things you don't allow.
- 34:55I watch. Bowser does literally kidnap a
- 34:58woman in force in a marrying way.
- 35:00Shoe. That.
- 35:02Is the plot of Mario. Yeah, it's it is.
- 35:07It was also the plot of this movie, but it's worse when you
- 35:10say it. I mean, it's the plot of Super
- 35:13Mario Odyssey too, and I played that. 1 He wants to play over
- 35:16that whole fucking Kingdom. It's not just that he wants.
- 35:18Fucking wants. Mario Odyssey, he's just
- 35:20literally trying to marry Princess Peach.
- 35:22He takes it to the moon so that because you know, Mario is not
- 35:24going to be able to get you back here.
- 35:26And so there's. All one place.
- 35:27You go to the moon. If you want to be on the
- 35:29wedding, yeah. And then the Sentinel sent off
- 35:33the signal, and the aliens knew that we'd made it to the moon.
- 35:36That's right. Yeah, we made it.
- 35:41Dinosaur E Fucking turtle here with a girl.
- 35:46OK, yeah, she doesn't. Want to be there?
- 35:50We'll send someone down. There is one more bit of game
- 35:53news which I've saw and a bit shocked about.
- 35:57Is this going to be a Far Cry series?
- 35:59Yeah. Yeah, and it's got someone Matt
- 36:02really likes. Yeah, someone Matt really
- 36:04doesn't like working on it. Oh, because this is this is Rob
- 36:09teaming up with the guy who made Alien.
- 36:12Yeah, Noah holy, or whatever his name is.
- 36:15That's it. Yeah, look, from what I hear,
- 36:19Noah Holy is also responsible for Fargo, which I did really
- 36:22like. Oh, Fargo was great.
- 36:24Yeah. So it's not that.
- 36:27I don't know, I think, I think Noah Holy just doesn't like the
- 36:30same things about Alien that I like.
- 36:31That's fine. Or so James Cameron like Alien
- 36:35Earth giving you too. Maybe I'm pretty stupid.
- 36:37For the decisions that he made and maybe half the shit that's
- 36:40in there, they made him put in for all we know.
- 36:43Yeah, I don't know. James Cameron apparently likes
- 36:45Alien Earth. Then again, James Cameron makes
- 36:51Avatar Movies Now exclusively so.
- 36:53Although apparently not. What?
- 36:55Yeah, we'll. Get to that.
- 36:56We'll get to that. Yeah.
- 36:57The. The point of this is that Rob
- 36:59Mack wants to do Far Cry Cool, I guess because has Rob Mack done
- 37:05anything that wasn't a comedy that we.
- 37:08Don't know. Is that right?
- 37:10I can't imagine he'd be good at it, but we'll.
- 37:13See. Yeah.
- 37:14The Far Cry series isn't it's. Not a completely straight face.
- 37:18Yeah, yeah. Especially when it get to the
- 37:21later ones where you can have a tiger as a friend type of thing.
- 37:24I. Didn't know you could have a
- 37:25tiger as a friend. Which one?
- 37:27Obviously still one of the island ones because I don't
- 37:29remember that in the fucking Oh I.
- 37:30Don't know his friend or one of you?
- 37:321. One of your allies or something
- 37:35has a pet tiger or something, or.
- 37:37Yeah, right. That just gets a bit silly in
- 37:39some some of them. That actually that was it was
- 37:43pretty straight that that one. Far Cry 5, was that the one with
- 37:46the religious cult? Yeah.
- 37:47That was good. Yeah.
- 37:49It's funny. Jokes in it.
- 37:51Yeah. It's been a while since we've
- 37:53had a Far Cry game. There was six with plus.
- 38:00The dragon one, what was that? A.
- 38:03Dragon. That was a dragon.
- 38:04That was a 360. That's a fucking good game.
- 38:08It was, and it was repetitive, but it was.
- 38:10Yes, it was cool. It was silly, but it was fun.
- 38:13And it wasn't a long game, either.
- 38:15No, and it was. Well, it couldn't have.
- 38:16Wasn't really a game. Yeah, so. 6 had that guy from
- 38:21yeah the guy The Mandalorian because.
- 38:22It was about a drug dealer down in Mexico and everyone went it's
- 38:26not really. Which one's that?
- 38:27Number six. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 38:29Had the guy from Breaking Bad and.
- 38:31Carl Carl sounds like. Me.
- 38:34Yeah, yeah, yeah. Carlos, Busy autism.
- 38:37Yeah, the guy from The Mandalorian.
- 38:40Yes. Oh, he's fucking intense in
- 38:42breaking. Bad and the girl had a The main
- 38:44character was a girl with a weird gun, a weird.
- 38:47OK. RIP off the gravity gun or
- 38:49something. OK, yeah, yeah, sorry I I must
- 38:52have just forgotten. And yes, I've played it and
- 38:54finished it. Oh yeah, that's how good it is.
- 38:59To me it it was like Max Payne 3 where I was like, oh, that's not
- 39:03what I liked about the other games.
- 39:05Yeah, yeah. Not that interested.
- 39:10I just, I remember fucking. Gangsters and stuff, I just
- 39:13don't care about that. I'm not going to play that.
- 39:16Yeah, there's one more piece of game news or tangentially
- 39:24related news, and that is that I found Luke's new shoes, and it's
- 39:29these beautiful Xbox Crocs that they've fairly teamed up to
- 39:35make. I think they've made a mistake.
- 39:40What's what's that? You're about to buy all of them.
- 39:43No, I'm looking at them and it's you've got, it's not the two
- 39:52pairs should be one controller, but then we've got a controller
- 39:56on a shoe and that's yeah. That's wrong.
- 39:58He's right. He's right.
- 39:59Yeah, you mean it should be like like the Switch Joy cons almost.
- 40:03Of well, no, it should just. Be the which one?
- 40:04Troller won't show half a troll the other thing and it'd.
- 40:07Be 1 without the logo. You can't have one without the
- 40:09logo. Yeah.
- 40:14Apparently they released Windows XP themed Crocs early in the
- 40:17year. I didn't see those.
- 40:19I now have seen them. They're not very good.
- 40:22The Xbox ones are better but I wouldn't.
- 40:25Wear that I mean other words, Windows XP.
- 40:27Just yeah, good point. Well.
- 40:29I'm never going to wear Crocs. I don't, I don't have Crocs.
- 40:31Do you guys have Crocs? I do have Crocs actually.
- 40:35I wear them in the house, they're very comfortable.
- 40:38I just like the fact that they they.
- 40:42Don't wear them outside. Idiocracy.
- 40:47Yeah. Yes, everyone's wearing Crocs
- 40:50and it was before Crocs had really come out and they were
- 40:52looking for shoes that were going to look stupid and they
- 40:54were worried. Oh they definitely look stupid.
- 40:57So no, but they're worried, oh, maybe these will be good.
- 41:00But no, they came out and everyone thought they were
- 41:03stupid. So it actually sort of worked
- 41:04for the movie. No, look, they're very
- 41:07comfortable. I just.
- 41:08Yeah, I think people have changed on them, but.
- 41:11I get home, I take my shoes off and I pop a pair of Crocs on and
- 41:14walk. And that's what I wear around
- 41:15the house. Yeah, there you go.
- 41:17I just walk around without shoes.
- 41:20I'm old, my knees have I do that.
- 41:22I don't have any carpet. Nor should you.
- 41:27No, I, I, yeah, I don't think I'll be buying a pair.
- 41:29They're $80. They are expensive.
- 41:32I bought a kids pair for hot pot and they were like $60.00 and
- 41:35I'm like that's more than a kids shoe should be.
- 41:38Yeah, didn't they used to be cheap?
- 41:41I don't know. I don't.
- 41:41Think they were. I think, yeah, I mean, the ones
- 41:45that I have I bought probably during Black Friday or
- 41:48something. I don't think I paid a lot for
- 41:49those, which is you. Know a pair of Uggs now for the
- 41:51first time in my life, which again, they're for.
- 41:54I'm wearing uggs right now, that's the other thing I wear in
- 41:56the house. That I do wear around the house
- 41:58in winter and I've got custom made ones.
- 42:01I don't wear my Crocs in winter, it's too cold.
- 42:02Yes, a guy I used to work with, he actually owns a tannery.
- 42:07You can actually go and get custom made Uggs.
- 42:10Well, they're not you. Pick your sheep and you go.
- 42:13I want that one inside out on my.
- 42:14Feet and that, yeah. They're they're technically not
- 42:18Uggs because of trademark, but they are.
- 42:22But that is what the sheep said when they cut the boot out of
- 42:25the bug. When the foot went into it.
- 42:28I don't think they have my size anyway.
- 42:32Oh. OK, because women settle down.
- 42:35No, they definitely do not have my size.
- 42:37Crocs or Uggs? The big feet are small feet,
- 42:42very small. She wants to know.
- 42:45I don't think they're since they're average.
- 42:50Oh, I've been told they're average.
- 42:52But then why don't they have your size, mate?
- 42:54Well, you're making no sense, buddy.
- 42:56Well, actually make him not average because they go from
- 42:594:00. It's a range in the middle that
- 43:00they didn't make him. Yeah, I'm in 11.
- 43:03Yeah, right. People who have sold out people,
- 43:05small feet 8 to 5. Which one are you?
- 43:06No one has medium sized feet. I did watch something.
- 43:10I'm just going to pop in here. What's his name?
- 43:15Actually, they're growing on me. Are those or the the
- 43:19specifically the? The actual font.
- 43:24Anytime I see a novelty shoe, I must admit that anytime I see a
- 43:27novelty shoe, I think would look where this like that's what I
- 43:30think every time. Like I'll say like I'll there's
- 43:32a Hulk cracking variant of the of the, you know, the Chuck
- 43:36Taylors. I'm like would look where.
- 43:37This yeah, yeah, I wondered about the Crocs would would look
- 43:40actually where these and it sounds like he's considering it.
- 43:44Luke has the Xbox logo tattooed on his body.
- 43:47I know that's. So.
- 43:51There are $140 he, I. Was going to say that's eighty
- 43:55US so. Jesus, yeah.
- 43:59It's fucking expensive. Look, they're still sold out of
- 44:03my size. Still after all this time.
- 44:07Yep. Oh well, what do we got here?
- 44:15Can I Can I mention something? I put Luke's new shoes in twice
- 44:18by accident. Go ahead.
- 44:18You did. I noticed You did.
- 44:19It was such a good story you had diverted to.
- 44:21Look, there's some more James Cameron news, but before we get
- 44:24to Oh yeah, I just want to talk about this episode of Law and
- 44:27Order SVU I watched last week. Yes, please.
- 44:30I want to know Luke's SO for. Starters, it's been a long time.
- 44:33Like maybe 15, at least years, maybe 20 years since I've
- 44:39watched The Law and Order and I remember them being more
- 44:43serious. This is a this is a silly made
- 44:46for TV melodrama. And I was no interesting.
- 44:48I thought, yeah, I think this was before Sopranos and all
- 44:51those HBO and the streaming just changed the tone of TV, right?
- 44:58This is light. Very light, very free to air.
- 45:04Yeah. Who's left?
- 45:06The reason I watched Minister Hardy Gay is still the.
- 45:12OK. The the boss bitch and then ice
- 45:15whatever Is it ice T or? Ice T Yeah, yeah.
- 45:17Ice T Yeah. 'Cause I know when a bunch of
- 45:20die just. Really handsome people.
- 45:22Oh, really? No, No, no.
- 45:25Sorry. Yeah.
- 45:26The original Law and Order. Jerry Orbach.
- 45:28Yeah, yeah, yeah. The one who has been around
- 45:31forever, I think he played, he's played the longest put.
- 45:36He's played that character the longest than anyone else.
- 45:38That's the character. Yes, and I think.
- 45:40He's the longest person to play that character.
- 45:42I think that character has, I think he's played cops in other
- 45:45shows and other movies that, but still that character as well.
- 45:49Yeah. Linking.
- 45:50Yeah, I don't. Even the guy with the Sonny's
- 45:51and the yeah, yeah. But in SVU.
- 45:55It could be anybody, but anyway. The guy with.
- 45:56The son, Yeah, the guy with the eyes the.
- 45:58Earlier today the the reason I watched this was because on the
- 46:05Reddit thread Neil Gaiman uncovered that I fucking love
- 46:09and is the only reason I still go on Reddit is to see if
- 46:11anything's popping up on that. Pointed out that they have based
- 46:15an episode of Law and Order SVU on the Neil Gaiman slash Amanda
- 46:23Palmer story. Oh, it's got an Amanda Palmer
- 46:27aspect to it too. They've doesn't bind both the
- 46:31characters, so it's about an author, but she's this radical
- 46:34feminist kind of punk chick. So it's Amanda Palmer if she was
- 46:39in the Neil Gaiman role. Except she does have a husband
- 46:43and he's the one who keeps molesting staff members, right?
- 46:47Right. But she gets sued for.
- 46:52Trafficking. Yeah, yeah, essentially for, for
- 46:55allowing, enabling it. Yeah, right.
- 46:58So it's pretty blatant. It's it's, it's quite a blatant.
- 47:04Adaptation. Yeah, I was about to say
- 47:06tribute. Tribute.
- 47:12It's loving memory of Neil Gaiman's career at the
- 47:14beginning. Yeah, that's right.
- 47:15But I mean, Neil Gaiman, he's probably going to be a bit
- 47:18angry, but fucking Amanda Palmer's going to be furious
- 47:23about this. Yeah, right.
- 47:27Yeah, Does she? Strange choice.
- 47:33They don't, they already go into as much anywhere.
- 47:35As what I'm asking. Cast did, all right, Yeah.
- 47:38But actually some of the lines, some of the lines were quoted
- 47:41verbatim, like the oh, like I was crying.
- 47:45He knew it hurt me and he kept going so like.
- 47:50That's trademarked. They can't do that.
- 47:57Now, Matt. Neil's going to be pissed.
- 48:00That's that's what I say. Yeah, that's what I make them
- 48:03say. Jesus.
- 48:08Yeah. So, you know, I thought like
- 48:10just just when you think maybe they're not making a direct
- 48:13comparison, they go and just remind you that they are.
- 48:16Yeah, right. OK.
- 48:18Was it good? No, in no way was it good.
- 48:22It was. Normal trash order show.
- 48:24No, it's way were either either law and order has changed or I
- 48:29remember it wrong because I remember him being quite good
- 48:32and this was not at all good. Right.
- 48:36Yeah. Oh well.
- 48:39Whatever. What else have we got here?
- 48:46I do want to talk about briefly, The Naked Gun, because it came
- 48:51up a couple times this week, actually, because I keep
- 48:53recommending people watch the new one because it's a great
- 48:56one. It's so good because it's.
- 48:57Apparently, though, the director of the original doesn't like it
- 49:03unless he. Doesn't like it because he feels
- 49:05like he's been ripped off. I can't see how he wouldn't
- 49:08because. He's the same.
- 49:09Movie. It he, he says they spent too
- 49:14much money on it, for starters, and it shouldn't be about he.
- 49:20I think he means things like the owl gag at the end and all that
- 49:22kind of stuff. He doesn't like that stuff.
- 49:25Too much CGI stuff. And I suppose like I will say
- 49:29the one of the weakest scenes I think is where he's the little
- 49:32girl and he pulls the mask off and it's leanness and like that
- 49:35kind of stuff. I think he doesn't like that
- 49:38stuff. Yeah, from what I'm gathering.
- 49:40Did he only do the first Naked Gun?
- 49:42Because if he questioned second and third, he has no right to
- 49:45criticize this one. Yeah, that's fair.
- 49:47Maybe he didn't, yeah, I don't know.
- 49:51But he he doesn't like it on that basis.
- 49:53He thinks that that first of all, it costs too much money,
- 49:56which I think, I mean, that's not a judgement about the film
- 50:00itself, is it? I.
- 50:01Mean. It's a strange.
- 50:02I think it's old. Movies cost too much these days.
- 50:06Fucking T-shirt costs too much, right?
- 50:08Yeah, exactly. He's not a fan of inflation is
- 50:12what I'm picking up. That's right.
- 50:14Well, not a reminder, frankly. But I don't even think of these
- 50:16inflation. I think he's just for some
- 50:18reason they spend movies cost a lot more than they should.
- 50:23I think he thinks this is too slick.
- 50:25Is is right, Kind of the vibe I'm getting.
- 50:27He's like, it's got too much CGI, too much, you know, but too
- 50:31much. I mean, Polish.
- 50:32That wasn't the stuff I liked about it.
- 50:34The stuff I liked about it was the stuff that was the same,
- 50:36which was just. Slick.
- 50:37Constant one liners that were really clever.
- 50:39Body Cam stuff of him eating those hot dogs.
- 50:45Not again, not today. You're stronger than this.
- 50:50So funny. I wonder what should he kid you?
- 50:54Killed my brother, killed many men he was fleeing unarmed,
- 50:59could be thousands of. People I shot.
- 51:01Him in the back hundreds. Hundreds he was.
- 51:04White. Oh, you're a Kevin, brother.
- 51:07Yes, so funny. We just love that.
- 51:11Oh yeah, he drove off here, crashed down there drunk.
- 51:14Nah, just enough to wake me up. Yeah, so good.
- 51:22The original has been named the best comedy movie of all time by
- 51:27Variety. I think.
- 51:29I mean, it might be magazine in question.
- 51:30It might be. Definitely often there.
- 51:34It's very funny. Like yeah, varieties.
- 51:37I could probably. Have decided, probably name a
- 51:39couple that I personally think are funny but I wouldn't die on
- 51:41the Hill forum. Like no.
- 51:43That's a solid choice. It's #1 some like it hot is #2
- 51:49was that Annie? Hall I was a kid when I saw
- 51:51that. Yeah, I don't know, The Great
- 51:53dictator #4. OK, right.
- 51:56So there's some film school nerds in here.
- 51:57OK, yeah. Annie Hall is a good movie, but
- 52:00it's not laugh out loud funny. And The Great Dictator is only
- 52:05good if you've, like, sat through a film appreciation
- 52:09class on it, you know? Yeah.
- 52:11It's historically relevant, like, yeah, uh, they've got
- 52:16Monty Python, the Holy Grail, Duck Soup, Fargo, Young
- 52:19Frankenstein and Groundhog Day, they're all in there.
- 52:22But apparently people are, umm, complaining about the list
- 52:28because Airplane Flying High is in at #62 while the Waterboy,
- 52:36the Adam Sandler film, the Waterboy is 50 and it's like,
- 52:39what the fuck? No, I don't think so mate.
- 52:45And then other things aren't in the list right on the cast.
- 52:48Brian transitioned from good movies into very bad movies.
- 52:51Yeah, that was the first one, Nikki, I think.
- 52:53Was I think came and was like OK there was some decent jokes in
- 52:58there. Waterboy, one or two decent
- 53:03jokes. Not many jokes really.
- 53:05If you added them all up, there's probably 6 jokes in that
- 53:07movie. Ran out of ideas.
- 53:09Yeah. But the people's argument is
- 53:12that the following films aren't included, which is a mistake.
- 53:14Life of Brian. Planes Trains.
- 53:16I think Life of Brian's better than Holy Grail.
- 53:19Person too Princess bride clue top secret.
- 53:24Always great top sitting there. Raising Arizona, Little Miss
- 53:28Sunshine, What's Up Doc? And more excluded from the list.
- 53:32I mean, you're never going to make.
- 53:33It you're never going to please everyone, that's the problem.
- 53:35This is just. Yeah, yeah.
- 53:38But I bet some movies are on there that I don't find the
- 53:40sliders a bit funny like. Yeah, yeah.
- 53:43But also from what I can see, this isn't like this is as
- 53:46determined by varieties staff and they've made that clear.
- 53:49Like they're not saying this is the definitive fucking list of
- 53:52full time. This is about one lunchtime and
- 53:54then we wrote. Like if if the three of us sat
- 53:56down and made it the top 100 list, we're going to exclude
- 53:59things other people are going to like.
- 54:00Yeah, we're going to come. Yeah, we're going to come to
- 54:02fist fights over it. Yeah, yeah.
- 54:07And if it's our list. And if it's our list, I'm not
- 54:11going to include something just because I know people really
- 54:13like this. Oh, The Last Jedi.
- 54:14Obviously people really like The Last Jedi, so I'm going to
- 54:16include no, fuck that movie off we don't like.
- 54:19It look, just so you know, if this ever does happen and we do
- 54:23have to come up with the a list of the funniest movies, you're
- 54:26banned from participating until you've watched Top Secret.
- 54:35We're just scrolling down and yeah, some movies I've not ever
- 54:40seen on this that have made the list.
- 54:44Read them out. All right, so from 100.
- 54:48I don't mean read. 91 She done him wrong. 91 She done him
- 54:53wrong. No.
- 54:55Never heard of it. 90 Bob and Carol and Ted and Alice no.
- 55:03Oh. Is that 9 fast times at
- 55:07Ridgemont high? I think that could have been
- 55:09higher. There's a movie from the 80s
- 55:12called Brain Donors, and if that's not on the list, it just
- 55:15means that none of those variety of people have seen it because
- 55:17to me it is the funniest movie. Yeah.
- 55:21Income Anchorman idiocracy idiocracy or not to be office
- 55:28space women on the verge of a woman on the verge of a nervous
- 55:32breakdown that. Sounds funny.
- 55:35Wet, hot American summer. I've seen wet hot American
- 55:38summer. The awful And then they did a.
- 55:41Series based on this series. 10 years later, yeah.
- 55:46They don't think they did. A sequel to that as well was a
- 55:48television series. Yeah, yeah, I think they did.
- 55:50Yeah, yeah. Thanks.
- 55:51Killing three on there because I remember that being very funny.
- 55:54I was. I was very drunk though when we
- 55:56watched it. Sonic 3, Thanks.
- 55:57Thanks killing three. Oh thanks, killing that was
- 56:00fucking excellent. See, this is the thing that'd be
- 56:02on my list for sure. Blazing Saddles 77 That is so
- 56:07wrong I. Haven't seen that since I was a
- 56:09kid. I wonder if I'd find it funny.
- 56:12I think you would trust. Me, I think modern audiences
- 56:15don't like movies like that anymore because of, you know,
- 56:18racist stuff and whatnot. Well, stuff they kick.
- 56:21You're saying we're more racist or less racist?
- 56:23No, I'm saying that times have changed.
- 56:25And so, yeah, you just kind of I think some of these great
- 56:27classic movies rank lower. Do you know, I, you know, I
- 56:30mean, still doing a Bond thing and we probably talked about
- 56:34this, but you know, they've changed the books recently, 2023
- 56:38they reissued all the James Bond books and they took out.
- 56:43Short books now. Well, this, well, I what I
- 56:48thought was funny about this is that is basically that you gave
- 56:51them to a bunch of what are they sensitivity readers and they
- 56:53took out with quite a lot of use of the N word.
- 56:56I want to be one of them. The easiest job ever.
- 56:57Anything in it? Yeah.
- 56:58No, it was fine. They they took, they took out a
- 57:01lot of the use of the N word and they rephrased mostly I just
- 57:04thought this was amusing. It was mostly only stuff that
- 57:07was racist towards black people and it made a note in this
- 57:11article to play it still talks about Asian people in a really
- 57:14racist way. They didn't touch that.
- 57:16And it's just like, why is why have they done that?
- 57:18I haven't mean why. Because it's America.
- 57:20Yeah. I think there's one-on-one on
- 57:23the list that I don't think should be on the list at all.
- 57:26It's Eddie Murphy's role. I don't see that as a movie.
- 57:30It's not a movie. It's not a movie.
- 57:32And it's actually hard to watch today even I saw it in 98 Styler
- 57:37and I rented it and we watched it and we're both just sitting
- 57:39there going. We've been conditioned not to
- 57:41laugh at this kind of stuff, you know, just making fun of like, I
- 57:46don't know, just like mentally handicapped people and gay
- 57:49people. And it's just, it's very
- 57:51vicious. It's vicious comedy.
- 57:55Yes. Yeah, that, yeah, that one I
- 57:57just watched should not be on the list at all.
- 57:59I watched Billy Connolly on there.
- 58:01About a comedian. Not that I've seen, I watched.
- 58:06I watched the three-part Jimmy Savile documentary on Netflix.
- 58:10Oh yeah, and I actually. Wait, is he the British?
- 58:14Yeah, it's so strange because. Yeah, that guy.
- 58:18I think, yeah, With all my connections to Britain, I never
- 58:22saw him. He was not on my radar.
- 58:24He never touched me. He no, yeah, I don't know.
- 58:26But never saw it. He got me from behind.
- 58:29No, his little, it was little girls.
- 58:31He liked this, this guy. Oh yeah.
- 58:34I was honest about it and like, yeah.
- 58:37He. Never hit it.
- 58:38Oh, he's so funny. Making.
- 58:41These jokes about how he does that, how he does.
- 58:43Do that. He started volunteering at a
- 58:47like at a hospital prison for like, criminally insane underage
- 58:53girls. And we'd take them out just day
- 58:55trips. Yeah.
- 58:56And we'd take them on day trips and we'd just, and but he was on
- 59:02like fucking Parkinson and all of these talk shows.
- 59:04And they were like, what do you do there?
- 59:05He's like. What time do I what time I do
- 59:08there mate? Yeah.
- 59:11He fucking tells everyone and at.
- 59:13One point in case we got arrested, he was like, I fucking
- 59:15told you what I've been doing. Yeah, I've been very open about
- 59:17this. And at one point, the one that
- 59:20really got me is because those he kind of says tongue in cheek.
- 59:25So you could say, OK, maybe we all thought it was jokes, but
- 59:27there's this one where he does some fun run or something and
- 59:30they said, oh, why do you do so much charity?
- 59:32And he goes, because I do some really fucking evil stuff.
- 59:36And I know that when I get to those gates on Judgement Day,
- 59:40they're going to say, we can't let you in.
- 59:44And I'm going to say, but what about all the charity stuff?
- 59:48And the person he's talking is just like, yeah, right, Yeah,
- 59:50yeah. Good.
- 59:51Yeah. Good joke.
- 59:51Like this man, this man looked you in the eye.
- 59:54He's. Not.
- 59:56Joking and told you he does really evil stuff.
- 1:00:00Yeah, yeah, it's fucked up. Yeah.
- 1:00:03I know there's one. It's.
- 1:00:04One of those things and everyone was like so shocked.
- 1:00:06It's like, and you look back and you go really?
- 1:00:08He was shocked. He fucking told you.
- 1:00:10Yeah, but even like on the. Couch and he says something
- 1:00:13along the lines people are joking about little girls and
- 1:00:15he's like, yeah, but the things we do to them, it's not fair.
- 1:00:19It's really not fair. I mean they, they don't want to
- 1:00:22do it and it hurts them and like God damn thing.
- 1:00:30Johnny Rotten tried to call him out back in the day.
- 1:00:33Yeah, 6 pistols. He actually tried to call him
- 1:00:36out. Like, I could tell you some
- 1:00:37stories that I've heard about Johnny.
- 1:00:39Several. But no, we won't talk about them
- 1:00:41here. Yeah, BBC likes to keep that
- 1:00:45stuff under the rug. Yeah, Yep.
- 1:00:50So I was enjoying this. I enjoyed the first two episodes
- 1:00:52very much, the 3rd episode. But the third, the first episode
- 1:00:58is just about who he was and how famous.
- 1:01:00Yeah, Yeah, I'm just right. So that was just funny and
- 1:01:02entertaining because, I mean, no one's saying he wasn't funny,
- 1:01:05just to be clear. No one's saying he wasn't.
- 1:01:07That was the problem. They're just if he wasn't funny,
- 1:01:09he wouldn't have got away with it.
- 1:01:11Yeah. Did they let him do this for
- 1:01:12years? Like decades.
- 1:01:16Then the the second episode puts all of it into perspective and
- 1:01:18says what he was all the kind of crazy stuff he's doing.
- 1:01:20But then the third episode is the people he like really hurt
- 1:01:25as adults talking about it. And I was like, I can't listen
- 1:01:28to this. I'm sorry.
- 1:01:29I. Can't.
- 1:01:30Did he die before it all came out or Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:01:35So he never had to face anything for what he'd done as.
- 1:01:39Far as I know, like I, I just, I didn't get to the end of the the
- 1:01:42third episode. I couldn't.
- 1:01:43It was it, was it? We got it.
- 1:01:45Like no more jokes. I mean, he had, he had to got to
- 1:01:49those pearly gates at some point, Luke.
- 1:01:50Yeah, I must just. Have to see.
- 1:01:52Where they are. I did that fun run, so yeah.
- 1:01:55And then I come. On in, mate.
- 1:01:56Come on in. Yeah.
- 1:01:57Yeah, so that that is how it works.
- 1:02:00Yep. Oh, I can't do fun runs.
- 1:02:03Well, you're going to hell mate, because you need to make up.
- 1:02:06Fridge attitude? Yep.
- 1:02:10Yeah, that's true, because you could force yourself to run, but
- 1:02:13it wouldn't be fun. No.
- 1:02:17You know where else I'm going to force you do stuff that's not
- 1:02:20fun. Here's the after party if you

- 1:03:54And I couldn't work out how to get off so I just kept playing
- 1:03:57my game. And then I helped, and then I
- 1:03:58helped him get off. That's all for this week.
