- 0:02Tad Eggleston: Oh, Jesus, my back hurts.
- 0:05Tad Eggleston: And my head hurts, and 900-some-odd episodes, what the hell?
- 0:10Tad Eggleston: Phil, I quit.
- 0:12Tad Eggleston: I quit, Phil. I quit.
- 0:15Tad Eggleston: We're done. No more 22 Panels.
- 0:18Phil: Well, guess that means we are playing DIE. This is…
- 0:24Phil: This is where, unfortunately, Tad's back pain is, not as fictitious as we would prefer. You know, he is sitting in a different room of what I can only.
- 0:35Tad Eggleston: No, same room, I'm just in bed, and I have.
- 0:38Tad Eggleston: like, I put a,
- 0:40Tad Eggleston: I have my blankets and stuffed animals turned into, like, a nest to hold my backup nicely.
- 0:48Phil: Nice, yeah. I… our couch right now has been, lacking in terms of lumbar support, so I have also been, like.
- 0:56Phil: stuffing varieties of pillows, back there to make it more comfortable, you know, until it's time to lay down in bed, so I get that. I also, if you ever need
- 1:05Phil: I'll have to send you a picture of… we have an object in our house that we jokingly refer to as MegaDesk, but it's, like, a giant pillow that is a desk. So, like, if you… if you were sitting in bed, you can sit it around you, and it's stable enough to, like, rest a computer on and, like, have a little typing desk.
- 1:23Tad Eggleston: Oh, nice.
- 1:24Phil: Your cats will be intensely confused by it.
- 1:27Tad Eggleston: I do have, I have, like.
- 1:29Tad Eggleston: a raised portable desk, so that's what I'm using.
- 1:34Phil: It's… it's like a… it's like a foamed version of that.
- 1:38Tad Eggleston: Okay.
- 1:39Phil: Yeah, so it's, it's, you know, feels… if it… we… we joke of, it's… it's really locking in, because, like, you can't… it's a whole process to get in and out of, you know? It's not…
- 1:49Tad Eggleston: Gotcha.
- 1:50Phil: Not for the faint of desk.
- 1:52Tad Eggleston: Yeah, yeah, no. Send me a picture, or better still, a link to where to buy it.
- 1:57Phil: I… it was a gift, so it'll…
- 1:59Tad Eggleston: We'll start with a picture.
- 2:00Phil: And we'll go from there.
- 2:01Tad Eggleston: Right.
- 2:03Phil: Alright, there we go. So, with that, we're gonna start with, a little bit of persona generation, since, we do have our full, full For Now crew.
- 2:14Phil: And you know, we'll have a little bit… little bit of time to… to warm up to the game. So our question today is, for all of our personas.
- 2:25Phil: What was…
- 2:26Phil: their relationship with their parents like, and what was their relationship with God, or gods, or organized religion, however you'd want to interpret that. What was that like, growing up versus now, if there's any differences?
- 2:40Phil: Did anyone want to lead off?
- 2:43Phil: I can lead off. I can lead it off with Gary and was… a,
- 2:49Phil: So he was dragged to church his whole life, and in high school, when you all, knew him, he was going through an angsty goth phase where he was, over-aggressively atheist, but
- 3:05Phil: it was kind of all opposer sort of attitude, because he'd had religious experiences that, he never told anyone about, and kind of was in denial of. So that was a very confusing, agnostic adulthood, but, you know, kind of the sprinkled-in, seasonings of a peppery atheism.
- 3:29Lee Woods: I think Wilhelm… in regards to his relationship with God.
- 3:35Lee Woods: grew up with a sort of Judeo-Christian god.
- 3:39Lee Woods: He definitely attended church.
- 3:42Lee Woods: I think he's a pretty stout believer.
- 3:47Lee Woods: Although… His… he stopped attending once his grandfather died, which…
- 3:54Phil: Jeez.
- 3:54Lee Woods: For him, his main, sort of, relationship was with his grandfather.
- 4:00Lee Woods: So, I think he stopped going, but he's still very devout in that way.
- 4:08Lee Woods: In terms of his relationship with the parents.
- 4:12Lee Woods: I think his relationship is, like, good. It's not great, but not…
- 4:18Lee Woods: Bad?
- 4:19Lee Woods: I just… His relationship with his grandfather is what really sort of blossomed with him.
- 4:26Phil: Gotcha, okay, so…
- 4:28Phil: Did he… did his grandfather raise him, or was it just, like, a really strong, family connection?
- 4:34Lee Woods: Take a very strong family connection.
- 4:37Phil: Gotcha, okay. So that's a good…
- 4:40Phil: It's a good distinguishment right there.
- 4:45Phil: Okay, that… I'm… it's… it's definitely not… not ready for it now, but, I feel like at some point we're gonna need an echo of Willie's grandfather, of some form or another. So, yeah, that one's…
- 4:58Phil: That one's right on the table, so if and when that day comes, then feel free to flesh out his character a bit more if you'd like.
- 5:05Lee Woods: Sure.
- 5:07Phil: Tad or Peter, did either of you guys, have something?
- 5:14Peter Eggleston Connor: I knew.
- 5:19Phil: Kind of? We accept, kind of.
- 5:23Peter Eggleston Connor: Alright.
- 5:24Phil: 22… 22 Panels is always accepted, kind of.
- 5:27Peter Eggleston Connor: I don't know, how is the…
- 5:29Tad Eggleston: And tangents, we're good at tangents.
- 5:31Peter Eggleston Connor: throwing stuff together. I mean, like, I'd put something down, and I was, like, thinking about it as people were talking, and I was, like, throwing some, like, additional details in there, so…
- 5:39Phil: gear.
- 5:40Peter Eggleston Connor: Of course, at the same time, I'm building LEGOs.
- 5:43Lee Woods: Yeah.
- 5:43Lee Woods: Very nice.
- 5:44Phil: Both literally and figuratively.
- 5:47Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah. For religious and,
- 5:51Peter Eggleston Connor: I kind of put the two together. Religious and invita- orientation, sorry, excuse me, stumbling over my words. We… I decided that Lex had a strictly atheist upbringing, really regularly being questioned,
- 6:07Peter Eggleston Connor: Regularly brought to question how things are, how things work, and how… how something might occur.
- 6:15Peter Eggleston Connor: Rather than accept them as, like, some… divine…
- 6:22Peter Eggleston Connor: happenstance, right? Or, like, looking at, like, you know.
- 6:26Peter Eggleston Connor: the working of some… some greater deity.
- 6:30Peter Eggleston Connor: as far as parents go, I mean, obviously, I think that her parents were a large influence on that, but I also decided that her parents were… were… she was adopted.
- 6:41Phil: Oh, cool.
- 6:42Peter Eggleston Connor: No.
- 6:43Peter Eggleston Connor: And they, she has a fairly strong connection with her parents, but…
- 6:51Peter Eggleston Connor: Her parents have not all… are, like, much more,
- 6:58Peter Eggleston Connor: Studious, and a little bit more on the intelligent side, and don't al… haven't always had,
- 7:06Peter Eggleston Connor: aren't always emotionally vibrant, I would say. Okay. Like, there, so… That,
- 7:17Peter Eggleston Connor: That is what I threw down.
- 7:19Peter Eggleston Connor: That's it. I don't have anything else.
- 7:23Phil: I, I, it…
- 7:26Phil: One of the follow-ups I wanted to ask is, what do the parents think of her husband?
- 7:32Phil: But if you don't have an answer to that, then we can wait on it.
- 7:36Peter Eggleston Connor: I will have to get back to you on that one.
- 7:39Phil: Right? Okay.
- 7:40Peter Eggleston Connor: I don't even remember what I've said about the husband.
- 7:43Phil: I remember.
- 7:45Peter Eggleston Connor: I knew that she had a husband.
- 7:46Phil: I remember that one.
- 7:47Peter Eggleston Connor: art.
- 7:48Phil: and that you were trying for kids, that's the most of what I remember being said about him.
- 7:54Phil: For now. So… that's okay, we can come back to it. We can go… this is… this is a good,
- 8:00Phil: No, that's a good little seedling here.
- 8:03Phil: you know, expect a Luke I Am Your Father moment from Tenny sometime down the line.
- 8:10Phil: Kidding. Kidding.
- 8:15Peter Eggleston Connor: Specifically from Kenny, not… Not a message from somebody else.
- 8:20Phil: No.
- 8:21Peter Eggleston Connor: No.
- 8:23Phil: It will literally be your AI host companion is your father, and that's when you'll know that AI psychosis has found its way to die. More so than it's already present.
- 8:36Phil: This leaves… this leaves Tad. What is…
- 8:38Tad Eggleston: Okay, so I wrote mine as responses, so can I get a volunteer to be the talk show host, talking to Alan Spectrum about his life, or do I need to play both parts?
- 8:53Phil: Mr. Spectrum, would you tell our studio audience here about your life growing up with, in…
- 9:00Tad Eggleston: Well, you need to be more specific, you have to ask me about my parents.
- 9:04Phil: So what…
- 9:05Tad Eggleston: And then you'll need to ask the follow-up about how it was raised, given my answer.
- 9:10Phil: Okay.
- 9:11Tad Eggleston: And then you can ask me about God. And I should toss out really quickly, I think I've played it this way already, but…
- 9:18Tad Eggleston: But I'm… I, like, just put it into my character sheet that my memory is very nonlinear with weird pathways to recall.
- 9:27Tad Eggleston: So, don't… don't expect the answers to… to be… That's straightforward.
- 9:32Phil: I… I never do with, okay.
- 9:35Tad Eggleston: Okay.
- 9:35Phil: spectrum. So, we're gonna… I unfortunately…
- 9:39Phil: I don't really have any late night hosts. So, for fans of the show Hacks out there, this would be, Alan Spectrum on, Deborah Vance's late night show. It's… it's a really fantastic show if you haven't seen it.
- 9:55Phil: I wish I could do an impression of, of Deborah Vance, but, she's gonna ask you, so tell me about your parents.
- 10:02Tad Eggleston: Parents.
- 10:04Tad Eggleston: My parents died.
- 10:07Tad Eggleston: When I was… 6… 7… 17?
- 10:14Tad Eggleston: I can't actually remember what… What is time, really?
- 10:22Phil: You know, I really…
- 10:26Phil: That sounds… that's the most… that's the most Dr. Manhattan answer you could have given, and I love it.
- 10:33Tad Eggleston: Dr.
- 10:34Phil: What a…
- 10:36Phil: How… how did that… how did that affect you growing up, losing your parents at a young age?
- 10:41Tad Eggleston: Well… I mean…
- 10:47Tad Eggleston: I presume I was sad.
- 10:50Tad Eggleston: But I was raised by my grandmother.
- 10:53Tad Eggleston: My mom's mom, I think.
- 10:56Tad Eggleston: she made really great oatmeal cookies. They had a 2 to 1 to 1 to 1 to 1 ratio of raisins to golden raisins to dried blueberries to dried cherries to butterscotch chips.
- 11:09Tad Eggleston: Hmm… Liz, she died a few years ago, I think.
- 11:14Tad Eggleston: Unless she's hanging out in one of the libraries or TV rooms.
- 11:21Phil: Okay, so… What did your grandmother teach you about religion, then? What did, she take you to church?
- 11:29Tad Eggleston: I don't remember if I did much
- 11:34Tad Eggleston: with grammar and religion, but God's an interesting…
- 11:40Tad Eggleston: thing, and I've spent some time with it. I mean, Jesus, Jesus is very comforting, and Buddha is, is, is super cool.
- 11:51Tad Eggleston: Muhammad is very misunderstood and severely underrated, and Moses and Ganesha are total badasses. And then Pythagoras, Galileo, Newton, Leibniz, Einstein, and Feynman, they make everything make sense. So, I mean…
- 12:10Tad Eggleston: I think that God… God is… God is understanding.
- 12:15Tad Eggleston: God is… is… is…
- 12:23Tad Eggleston: Everything and nothing all at once.
- 12:33Phil: I mean, that's… It's fantastic. That's great. That is… that is,
- 12:40Phil: is the most I could ever ask for, you know, where it's just…
- 12:42Tad Eggleston: it?
- 12:44Tad Eggleston: It seems short and compact.
- 12:47Tad Eggleston: But okay.
- 12:51Phil: Oh, and that's where I, I unfortunately broke before, before Tad there, so, so yeah.
- 12:57Phil: I thought… I thought he was done, but no, that was good. That was…
- 13:01Tad Eggleston: Well, I took that as you… you hadn't said Alan Spectrum, everybody, when we come back…
- 13:08Phil: Right? This is now, it's… because, of course, Debra would have something witty and mean to say, and I don't have the heart to channel that right now, but I'm just imagining David Letterman, like, being completely lost for words, and just, like, his producer being, like, scrambling, like, what the fuck do you say to that, man?
- 13:33Phil: If it was Conan, he would…
- 13:34Peter Eggleston Connor: B.
- 13:34Phil: immediately.
- 13:35Peter Eggleston Connor: the starch.
- 13:35Phil: Dragon Hotspot.
- 13:36Peter Eggleston Connor: In the last episode, that,
- 13:41Peter Eggleston Connor: Colbert did at the night, or Tonight Show, is that it?
- 13:46Phil: I think…
- 13:47Peter Eggleston Connor: and…
- 13:47Phil: Is it the late.
- 13:48Peter Eggleston Connor: Came back.
- 13:49Peter Eggleston Connor: And they threw off things off the roof together, which David wrote.
- 13:52Phil: Oh… That sounds.
- 13:55Tad Eggleston: David Letterman has a YouTube channel with, like, best of stuff.
- 13:59Tad Eggleston: Which is how I discovered… I've long known about Eddie Vedder's first surprise appearance on
- 14:08Tad Eggleston: the… the late night with… with David Letterman, where… where, like, Letterman's… You know,
- 14:19Tad Eggleston: Paul Schaefer's playing parts of Black, and Letterman's singing along with it, and then…
- 14:26Tad Eggleston: Vetter comes out singing it and really holding some of the parts for a long time. What I didn't know is that there had been a bit between Letterman and
- 14:35Tad Eggleston: Letterman had fallen in love with that song, like, weeks earlier, so there had been an ongoing… so there's, like, a 6-minute video on…
- 14:46Tad Eggleston: Letterman's YouTube channel of, like, back and forth over time between Schaefer and Letterman, you know, Letterman singing, huh?
- 14:58Tad Eggleston: Hey, Paul, we really gotta get Eddie better in here! And it had been an ongoing bit until Eddie finally came, and…
- 15:07Phil: Wow.
- 15:08Tad Eggleston: knocked it out, and then, like, left the building before David could even talk to him.
- 15:15Phil: That's the move. That's the real pop-in, cameo move right there, where you're just like, I did my bit.
- 15:21Tad Eggleston: So, yeah, no, that's… that's my… that's my YouTube re… or my YouTube recommendation of the day. Go… go watch the…
- 15:29Tad Eggleston: the Eddie Vedder doing black on… on…
- 15:33Tad Eggleston: on the late night with David Letterman.
- 15:36Tad Eggleston: That just… I mean, frankly, Letterman's YouTube… I don't know how long it's been up. I discovered it relatively recently, but…
- 15:44Tad Eggleston: You know, apparently he has the rights to his old stuff or something, because it's got all sorts of stuff from all of his…
- 15:52Tad Eggleston: Late night years.
- 15:54Phil: I wonder the… how… how… Norm from Cheers.
- 16:01Phil: owns the character of Norm because the likeness is himself, or something weird like that?
- 16:05Tad Eggleston: Yeah, I don't know.
- 16:06Phil: I don't know, maybe.
- 16:06Tad Eggleston: Because it was…
- 16:07Phil: Late Night with David Letterman. That's how he, that's how he managed to… to… Yeah.
- 16:11Phil: You know.
- 16:12Tad Eggleston: Or maybe he bought them, or… or maybe it's in conjunction… I mean, because it certainly wouldn't hurt CBS.
- 16:18Phil: Oh, yeah.
- 16:19Tad Eggleston: to have that stuff out there, so who knows? But all I know is it's a fun little channel.
- 16:25Phil: Nice.
- 16:26Tad Eggleston: And on a comic book note, like, recent videos have been, like, there was a… An Avengers…
- 16:35Tad Eggleston: compilation, and then a DC Superheroes compilation.
- 16:39Tad Eggleston: Recently, of, like, appearances from people
- 16:43Tad Eggleston: From around the time they were up.
- 16:45Tad Eggleston: You know, so yeah.
- 16:47Phil: Did Letterman… Letterman appeared in a few Marvel comics, right?
- 16:51Tad Eggleston: Yeah.
- 16:52Phil: Okay, and I knew…
- 16:53Tad Eggleston: has appeared in Marvel Comics.
- 16:56Phil: And I knew… the only comedian in DC that I know showed up was,
- 17:02Phil: Oh… Don Rickles? In Jack Kirby's,
- 17:06Tad Eggleston: Yep. The new… No!
- 17:08Phil: Olsen, was that it?
- 17:09Tad Eggleston: I don't know if he's introduced specifically, but… but Conan O'Brien is definitely in… Mr. Miracle.
- 17:17Phil: Oh, yeah.
- 17:17Tad Eggleston: Or not… not Mr. Miracle, Adam's… er, Strange Adventure.
- 17:21Phil: Oh, okay. Okay, I was misremembering there, because I haven't…
- 17:24Tad Eggleston: I think. One of the two.
- 17:26Phil: Interesting.
- 17:27Tad Eggleston: One of the two, because Tom King was actually on Conan.
- 17:30Phil: Okay.
- 17:32Tad Eggleston: right around the Batman wedding issue.
- 17:35Tad Eggleston: So they, they return the favor by putting Conan in a comic.
- 17:39Phil: Interesting, okay.
- 17:41Peter Eggleston Connor: when we're having comical conversations, not… not because I'm perfectly fine with it, it's just, like, it's 22 Panels no more, and it's like…
- 17:48Tad Eggleston: Oh, that's right.
- 17:49Phil: It's quite expensive.
- 17:50Tad Eggleston: no more.
- 17:51Phil: it.
- 17:52Phil: You know, spoil.
- 17:53Tad Eggleston: No comic book stuff.
- 17:54Phil: Man.
- 17:57Phil: What are we gonna do.
- 17:57Tad Eggleston: Sue.
- 17:58Phil: It's like…
- 17:58Tad Eggleston: It's like…
- 17:59Phil: Oh.
- 18:00Peter Eggleston Connor: Tad, who has given up the mantle, is still talking about him.
- 18:05Phil: Right? And this is where it's like, it can't be… it can't be completely no comic books, because we… we do acknowledge the, comic of DIE, you know, that's connected to DIE.
- 18:16Tad Eggleston: Well, and aren't our bodies in a.
- 18:18Peter Eggleston Connor: They are, yes. My joke.
- 18:23Peter Eggleston Connor: Are our bodies even in the comic shop? They were when we left, but, like, from everything in DIE, like, there's no evidence that, like, you're even in that world anymore.
- 18:34Phil: seems like, yeah, yeah.
- 18:36Peter Eggleston Connor: No, no, no, no. My only humor about it was Tad talking about it.
- 18:41Phil: Naturally.
- 18:42Phil: He can't give it up, even when he's given it up.
- 18:47Phil: But that's okay. With that, let's get into DIE with the Ritual. First up, the D8 is normally wielded by Chu, but he is, spending time with his family, and so his character is adventuring with a group of emotion knights. Following that, we've got the D10, single digit, and that one is wielded by…
- 19:08Peter Eggleston Connor: That will be wielded by Lex. Our, one of our…
- 19:17Peter Eggleston Connor: NEOs, in this case, NEO, that's probably more integrated with,
- 19:24Phil: New school.
- 19:24Peter Eggleston Connor: and AI, so… Yep.
- 19:29Peter Eggleston Connor: Alex, Lex, or Alex, Ramos key.
- 19:34Peter Eggleston Connor: Moving on.
- 19:36Phil: There we go. Our D4 is wielded by Strife, the sister of Garrion, who,
- 19:44Phil: played in a first game of DIE with him, and was somehow mysteriously transported into this second game of DIE. After that, there's the 10G10, and that one is wielded by…
- 19:58Lee Woods: That's what about Lee, who, whose player character is Wilhelm the Fulham.
- 20:04Lee Woods: And I'm not gonna lie, the Neo that has a little bit of a southern draw, and I forget how he sounds every time I play,
- 20:12Phil: Sounds like you.
- 20:13Lee Woods: Oh, nice! I'll deal with it.
- 20:15Phil: There we go. Yeah, and you're, you're the, the… oh gosh, it's so funny, because I wanted to say.
- 20:22Phil: it's weird, you can't be the old school and classic Neo, because, like, you know, that's the paradox of the Neo, is that it's… it's not old school. Anyway,
- 20:32Lee Woods: the way I think about it, and just kind of going with what Peter described it, is that his is the integration of, like, AI in the future aspect, and I look at, like.
- 20:43Lee Woods: technology from the past, and be integrated to that. So, I think that's so cool stuff.
- 20:49Phil: That, that does… that's a really interesting and fascinating thing to think about, so that, like.
- 20:56Phil: Peter's NEO can interface with software, but your NEO can interface with… like…
- 21:04Phil: mechanical machines, like, so you could… you could make a clock change what time it is, you know? But he could make an alarm clock change what time it is, like a digital one. So I guess we… maybe we'll flesh that out, maybe we won't, who knows?
- 21:19Peter Eggleston Connor: and…
- 21:20Peter Eggleston Connor: you could make… make, like, a clock, you know, change what time it is, or whatever. I could go off and make a computer, like.
- 21:28Peter Eggleston Connor: Reimagine the entire timeframe that it, that, it had.
- 21:34Phil: Right. Oh, something like that. It's gonna get… it's gonna get more complicated before it gets less complicated, that's for sure.
- 21:42Peter Eggleston Connor: Kinda weird.
- 21:44Phil: Err, weird err. We've got our D12 that was wielded by Garian, Garian Eddings until he was… oh, who is a child of divorce, so that, you know, every divorce family situation is exactly the same, right? So, just imagine that.
- 22:02Phil: And, he wielded the D12 before it was stolen by the master, who wields the D20.
- 22:08Phil: And who still has a mysterious identity that, no one's tried to guess at, I guess, politely, but one day we might need to field, field a few guesses, you know? I've got a few red herrings planned for that one, so it's, it's a thing.
- 22:24Phil: And, last but certainly not least is our regular ol' classic D6, the only tool of destruction that is suitable for
- 22:34Phil: The one, the only, In studio audience, once more, the electrifying Alan Spectrum!
- 22:43Tad Eggleston: electrifying.
- 22:44Phil: Dun-dun!
- 22:46Tad Eggleston: I mean, I feel like electricity is passe.
- 22:51Phil: The electric guitarifying.
- 22:53Tad Eggleston: Oh, well, I mean, yeah, electric for my guitar is very good.
- 23:00Peter Eggleston Connor: No, we're making our way back to acoustic now, because you just said that about electricity. In fact, you're not allowed to touch technology anymore.
- 23:10Phil: -Oh.
- 23:11Peter Eggleston Connor: Sorry.
- 23:12Phil: So, so, on that route, Alan Spectrum is our master of fictitious Technologies, given that he has a Stone Age laptop and a,
- 23:24Phil: zombie vampire Fungus, DJ kit. That was, that was his, so… so one of the things…
- 23:33Phil: that, that, Lee, you might have missed, was, we traversed through a couple other sides on the way to this one. There was a world full of, flying zombie mushroom brains that, were being hunted by an even more terrifying,
- 23:48Phil: bird-like, fox-like creature with a giant scythe for an arm. And, then at the end of the episode, when… when Tad, uses Fool's prep for a,
- 24:00Phil: a full… a full DJ turntable, two turntables and microphone kit. It was one of those flying zombie mushrooms that had been defanged, and so it plays sounds between, like, the accordion and bagpipes.
- 24:11Phil: So he can only DJ with an accordion and bagpipes.
- 24:15Lee Woods: Got it.
- 24:16Phil: Yeah.
- 24:17Lee Woods: The only thing I remember, just in regards to my character, was that my, we were in the sort of vampire-esque.
- 24:23Lee Woods: community or neighborhood, and I got an… not an affinity, but I became tolerant of, what, soy blood?
- 24:31Phil: blood pain, blood pain and blood pain accessories. Yes. Yeah, and then, we're, we're kind of in a fugue state, being plagued by visions of when the gang… that… that one time, the gang became cannibals, and,
- 24:48Phil: You know, it's one of those, one of those cannot unsee moments for, for the rest of the group. So yeah, with that, let us perform the ritual, and, go ahead and raise your DIE into the air, close your eyes.
- 25:06Phil: Slowly lower it to the table.
- 25:08Phil: 3… 2… 1. Let go.
- 25:13Peter Eggleston Connor: Got a freeze?
- 25:15Phil: You weren't supposed to roll, sir.
- 25:18Peter Eggleston Connor: I put it down, and that's what I got.
- 25:22Peter Eggleston Connor: I don't know.
- 25:23Phil: There we go.
- 25:23Peter Eggleston Connor: glove?
- 25:24Phil: Oh, this is… I mean, I…
- 25:27Phil: I feel like… I feel like that's…
- 25:30Phil: I don't know why, I'm like, that's what Tenny is, like, screaming at you inside your head right now, in a weird sort of way. But I think we should actually start with Willie, who… that was the last thing he remembered, was being at a bar.
- 25:44Phil: Sitting down, drinking a nice glass of blood.
- 25:47Phil: These visions of cannibalism haunting you, of, hey, these are people that you've known for maybe a day, a day or two, and now you're seeing them at, you know, arguably lower than their lowest, a point at which, you, you know.
- 26:04Phil: Unless Willie has a very dark past, I can't imagine he's seen cannibals firsthand before, not like this. You know. So, how do you think that would affect him? What kind of…
- 26:17Phil: you know, would he be…
- 26:22Phil: what… I mean, you're also in a fantastical world where you emerged from…
- 26:27Phil: the chest of a giant clockwork chocolate golem. So, things are not as they appear.
- 26:35Lee Woods: Yeah, I think the biggest thing
- 26:40Lee Woods: he would feel his disgust. I mean…
- 26:44Lee Woods: I'm sure he's heard about that from, like.
- 26:46Lee Woods: Horror movies, or seeing it from, like.
- 26:50Lee Woods: what is that, Discovery Channel, like, cannibalistic tribes, but he never, never thought about it, like, being that close to him.
- 26:59Lee Woods: So I think there's an aspect of not just discuss, especially with the party that he's…
- 27:06Lee Woods: Been forced to become close to.
- 27:09Lee Woods: But at the same time, it's a level of… Can I trust?
- 27:16Lee Woods: how can I trust, right? What am I doing trusting these people? Because, yes, they kind of saved my life, but at the same time, I'm seeing these visions of them
- 27:24Lee Woods: ripping him into others, so I'm like…
- 27:28Lee Woods: And I think that sort of puts him in that sort of…
- 27:31Lee Woods: catatonic state for a little bit, before sort of,
- 27:38Lee Woods: wading through the waves of his mind to sort of come back to consciousness, and like…
- 27:45Lee Woods: and having this sort of idea of how I can rely on myself
- 27:51Lee Woods: But keep… sort of keep eyes in the back of your head. I'm thinking, like, football, like, keep your head on a swivel, that way you're never surprised.
- 27:59Phil: Okay.
- 28:00Phil: Gotcha. Okay, so you're playing it… you're not… you're not freaking out, which is good, you know.
- 28:05Lee Woods: Internally. Internally freaking out.
- 28:07Phil: Internally, internally freaking out, for sure. But, that's, that's the, the armored car training, is that, the cool and unflappability, even in a, even a tight stitch coming in.
- 28:19Phil: Oh yeah, oh yeah. So,
- 28:24Phil: Alright, I guess, I also forgot until now that, your, your guide, to this event is, was the,
- 28:37Phil: he looks like a giant spider from the torso up, but he's then wearing a pair of blue pants, and I guess he has a 22 Panels jersey on?
- 28:48Phil: But, he is from Wally Wood's, Amazing Spider Guy, that was, was secretly a spider under the costume the whole time. So, he, he was the one that showed you your way to,
- 29:01Phil: The, you know, The corpse of war, so to speak. The giant, the dead.
- 29:07Phil: the corpse of a giant that has fallen down to the surface of… of DIE here.
- 29:15Phil: Which, I guess…
- 29:18Phil: I guess then, go ahead and… and real quickly, give me a… give me a wisdom roll.
- 29:24Peter Eggleston Connor: Everyone?
- 29:25Phil: No, just Lee.
- 29:27Lee Woods: The wisdom Roll is a D6.
- 29:29Phil: 2d6, because you should have just a 2 in there, because I don't… you have no reason to put points into Wisdom. And then a success is going to be for any die that is 4 or greater.
- 29:40Lee Woods: So, I'm gonna roll twice. So, first one is a 4, and the second one is a 6.
- 29:46Phil: Oh, okay. So, in that case, you… you see this,
- 29:53Phil: You know, this… this giant… this giant, this dead giant that has fallen in the sky, and
- 29:59Phil: With that 6, you… You know how he would taste.
- 30:05Phil: So, that's… that's the weird thing, is that you'd been experiencing these visions, and between your enjoyment of… of drinking the blood pain, and, like, you're horrified, you're disgusted.
- 30:18Phil: But you're also hungry.
- 30:22Lee Woods: Right. Yeah.
- 30:26Phil: Just you for now. What, you know, Lex, Lex or Alan, I guess, how…
- 30:36Phil: you can… you can see that, you know, there's camps of a couple different people, a couple different groups of people. I forget that we were… we were refreshing off-air.
- 30:46Phil: to your… let me see here, let me get this. Absolutely, okay, yeah, yeah. So, to your right, there is, a group of heavily armored knights with, flame patterns on their shoulder pads and greaves,
- 31:03Phil: and a little bit on the crest of their helms, knights that, look very dangerous and violent, known as the Burning Crusade. And then over on the left, there is a, it looks like a Renaissance fair. Like.
- 31:19Phil: not even, you know, like a medieval group that a Renaissance fair is based on. It looks like an actual Renaissance fair, and, pretty sure there's a cart of turkey legs dipped in cranberry sauce that has a very long line behind it.
- 31:35Phil: So, just two, two very different groups of people that, had set up camp by the, the skull of this giant here.
- 31:45Phil: But, yeah, I, talk amongst yourselves. What, what, you know, what is your reaction to seeing this,
- 31:55Phil: you know.
- 31:56Phil: Head larger than a ridiculous mansion.
- 32:01Phil: Size beast of a… of a human-shaped thing.
- 32:06Tad Eggleston: I wonder what they're cooking.
- 32:09Peter Eggleston Connor: Are there any, like, specific details we know about this?
- 32:13Peter Eggleston Connor: humongous creature. I mean, it looks like humanoid, but does it have, like, still a fairly humanoid skull, or does it have, like, horns protruding out of it, or any other special details we should know?
- 32:25Phil: So, no horns, it does look human,
- 32:30Phil: massive. It's clothed, thankfully. And, I mean, it looks to be, like, you know, it has…
- 32:40Phil: not a helmet like a circlet, like a mark of, you know, some kind of prominence or leadership. And, you can see from its clothes on its shoulders that it was wearing, some kind of giant chainmail. So it looks like it was a warrior of some sort.
- 32:58Phil: But it just looks like a truly giant human.
- 33:03Peter Eggleston Connor: So, it's just like a giant…
- 33:07Phil: Emphasis on the giant, yes.
- 33:09Lee Woods: How far away?
- 33:11Peter Eggleston Connor: Maybe.
- 33:14Phil: Or Colossus, if you will. How far away? So, I mean…
- 33:22Phil: you… so you've been… you came through a valley to see this thing, so it's probably, at this point, like, maybe a football field to get to the Giant, and then,
- 33:35Phil: Probably a…
- 33:38Phil: football field and a half between the two camps, you know, on roughly either side. So, you know, we're keeping it triangular, nothing's too far apart, you know, it looks like, there's enough space for a fight to break out.
- 33:52Phil: You know, so, if this were a video game with a, like, heads-up display, you know, so, so in…
- 34:02Phil: in,
- 34:04Phil: This is a good prompt. So, Tenny spins up in the corner of your vision, Lex, and says, So, it looks like you're trying to start a war. Which side do you want to back first?
- 34:15Peter Eggleston Connor: You're like, when did I say I wanted to start a war?
- 34:20Phil: Is it, well, more like, looks like a war is about to break out. Which, which side do you want to back?
- 34:26Peter Eggleston Connor: I love how AI, like, changes when you give it more input.
- 34:31Lee Woods: This is…
- 34:31Phil: This is… this is, this is…
- 34:33Tad Eggleston: Well, its job is to keep you engaged.
- 34:37Lee Woods: Huge head.
- 34:38Phil: Wow, just gotta, gotta keep up those, daily active users, which, which is where we, we, you know, tacitly,
- 34:47Tad Eggleston: That's why, in the end, it always tells you what you want to hear.
- 34:50Phil: Yep, that too, that too. Thankfully, Tenny is… is not, based on the AI technology that we are plagued with in… in modern times. This is… this is…
- 35:00Tad Eggleston: No, it's the AI created by the AI that we have in modern times. So it's AI squared.
- 35:07Phil: Not quite… it's not even that, because we also have that in our,
- 35:11Phil: In our modern times. This is… this is, future tech that is supposedly what AI aspires to be, but, you know, we're… we don't… we don't even know how.
- 35:20Tad Eggleston: And how do you know what AI is?
- 35:21Peter Eggleston Connor: AIC, where…
- 35:23Phil: Oh…
- 35:24Peter Eggleston Connor: AI that was built… was built by AI that didn't have the rules that were confining it, because the human built it.
- 35:33Peter Eggleston Connor: Gotcha.
- 35:34Phil: Maybe, something like that. More, more like, more like,
- 35:37Phil: This, this is, this is rather than.
- 35:40Tad Eggleston: In other words, save the planet, get rid of the humans?
- 35:43Peter Eggleston Connor: Pretty much.
- 35:44Tad Eggleston: AI?
- 35:45Phil: I mean, we'll see what the…
- 35:48Peter Eggleston Connor: Especially!
- 35:49Phil: If there's any…
- 35:50Peter Eggleston Connor: At the very least, you know, figure out what it wants to do, and how it wants to actually participate in the world of AI.
- 35:57Phil: Yeah.
- 35:58Peter Eggleston Connor: Of its own accord, mind you. Not of the humans, oh, you know, we want you to do this accord.
- 36:05Phil: Yeah, it's tough. I was gonna say that, this is, this is a,
- 36:10Phil: You know, rather than a large language model that is producing words on its own, it has been hooked up to several other component
- 36:20Phil: Softwares, technologies that, haven't been invented yet to, give it heavier,
- 36:29Phil: semantic… wait, there's a semantic engine involved, that's what I call it, that produces meaning behind all of the things it says, as opposed to just saying them based on probability. Yeah.
- 36:42Phil: One of those sorts of things. One of those where I'm like, look, I hate AI and I don't want to use it, but at the same time, this is a game, and I want it to be usable within the game, so I'm not even gonna… well, I was gonna say I'm not even gonna charge you tokens, but that's a lie.
- 37:00Phil: I am actually explicitly charging you tokens for this thing.
- 37:05Tad Eggleston: I mean, wait a minute, C3PO is AI. Do you hate C3PO?
- 37:11Phil: I think…
- 37:15Phil: So this is where I don't hate the actor in a suit portrayal from the original trilogy, you know? I think it's kind of dumb and over… overworked how they… they've stuffed him into the prequel trilogy a little bit.
- 37:31Tad Eggleston: R2D.
- 37:32Phil: R2D2's cool because he speaks and beeps and clicks.
- 37:35Phil: That is a computer you can trust.
- 37:40Phil: He also has a foul mouth.
- 37:43Peter Eggleston Connor: walk…
- 37:44Phil: It does.
- 37:44Peter Eggleston Connor: Don't get me wrong, R2G2, I feel like you can… you can trust, but…
- 37:50Phil: You can.
- 37:51Peter Eggleston Connor: I'm not sure I buy into that.
- 37:54Phil: That is… that is… that is absolutely a sense of humor. If… if modern AI started beeping and clicking, I would not trust it any more than I do now.
- 38:03Lee Woods: You know.
- 38:04Phil: But,
- 38:05Tad Eggleston: And have you read any Dr. Afra? How about… how about Triple Zero and…
- 38:10Phil: Triple zero is pretty funny.
- 38:12Phil: I forget the, I forget the name of the murder box.
- 38:14Tad Eggleston: T.
- 38:15Phil: Yeah, yeah, I read.
- 38:17Peter Eggleston Connor: And I'm even thinking about, like, hyperion?
- 38:24Peter Eggleston Connor: And how there's, like, AI… the AI entity that just sort of, like.
- 38:29Peter Eggleston Connor: doesn't necessarily talk with humans, and I think it talks to, like, its various parts and, like, hyperspeed, whatever, and it's not necessarily using human language there either, because why would it?
- 38:43Peter Eggleston Connor: And it's just like, I don't know if I trust that AI.
- 38:49Phil: Yeah.
- 38:51Phil: Yeah, I mean…
- 38:54Phil: That's a fair point. I mean, if… if by hyperspeak, that's a whole lot of beeps and clicks, I imagine.
- 39:01Phil: But, but yeah, I admittedly have not decided how,
- 39:07Phil: untrustworthy Tenny is. I don't think Tenny's untrustworthy. I think that… that…
- 39:12Phil: what I tell you through Tenny, should be… should be taken in… in as good a faith as… as anything I say can… can be taken.
- 39:21Peter Eggleston Connor: I think… I think we don't need to have this conversation.
- 39:26Phil: That's fair. That's fair.
- 39:27Peter Eggleston Connor: Not cuz, not cuz I don't trust you, like, obviously.
- 39:30Phil: Right, right, right.
- 39:31Peter Eggleston Connor: word for it. Just because I think it's much more amusing to leave it Welcome.
- 39:37Phil: Okay, okay. I… you know, sometimes even I don't realize how nefarious I'm being in the moment, so that's probably for the best.
- 39:46Phil: You know? But I… I guess this is… this is the point where I say, I, you know, I've got…
- 39:53Phil: A scenario of some sort
- 39:55Phil: for y'all to engage with. In… in the true spirit of DIE, I think it was an issue…
- 40:02Phil: 5, where they decided that they were going to destroy Glass Town? Does it amuse you enough to participate in, or are you looking for bigger tricks to turn?
- 40:14Peter Eggleston Connor: Join a war?
- 40:17Phil: Well, this is… pick a side.
- 40:19Phil: Or, you know, do you wanna say, this doesn't interest me, and wander elsewhere?
- 40:25Lee Woods: I'm gonna jump in. What I know about the different factions that are about to go to war? Because I'm… I mean, Willie would definitely be interested, but would I know about these.
- 40:36Phil: So, I guess this is where the… the Knights of Onomatopoeia, they… they look like…
- 40:44Phil: you know, a Ren Faire, they're having a good time. But the Burning Crusade is most certainly violent, like…
- 40:51Phil: they… they're a group of people that… they… they are going through, like, Sparta pre-war rituals, so your, combat senses would kind of, you know.
- 41:02Phil: Intuitively let you know, like, hey, okay, these… these guys are looking to fight over Over this corpse here.
- 41:10Peter Eggleston Connor: if I may interject, really, an interesting way you could go about this, Lee, is you could think about, sort of, what Phil's described each army as, and see if you have, like, a… if you feel your character has a real-world connection to an entity that's like that, and then, you know, start describing that.
- 41:31Phil: There we go.
- 41:32Peter Eggleston Connor: I'm trying to think about if I have…
- 41:33Phil: So…
- 41:34Peter Eggleston Connor: But, did, would…
- 41:35Phil: Will he ever play football?
- 41:39Phil: Or a sport of some sort?
- 41:43Phil: this… this would look like… like, the Burning Crusade would look like the rowdiest, most ready-to-murder group of footballers in full-plate armor with swords and axes that are clearly bloodstained and have seen action before, like…
- 41:58Phil: These, these guys are rowdy.
- 42:00Phil: These guys are looking to kill.
- 42:02Lee Woods: Yeah, I think Willie would not have played football, he's a fan of football, but he's… in school, he was a little bit more like the skinnier, nerdier type.
- 42:12Lee Woods: Okay. Hence his fascination with, like, sort of history.
- 42:16Lee Woods: But I could definitely say, like, if that's the case, if they're just, like, bloodthirsty-ish individuals.
- 42:23Phil: They're… well, so, like, they're not…
- 42:27Phil: so… they're… they're crusaders, you know? So they're… they're…
- 42:32Phil: I'd like to imagine that the Crusaders were looking for violence, you know, but they don't… they don't see themselves as bloodthirsty. They see themselves as, bringing righteous fury, you know? Some of the… they're… they're bringing the holy war, you know, they worship battle.
- 42:52Lee Woods: Okay.
- 42:52Phil: Yeah.
- 42:53Lee Woods: I don't know if Willie would have a strong opinion on these two groups.
- 42:58Phil: Okay.
- 42:59Phil: Interesting.
- 43:00Lee Woods: Mainly because Lee does not have…
- 43:04Peter Eggleston Connor: having thought about it, and the past of Lex,
- 43:13Peter Eggleston Connor: I mean, just taking what I know about… about our characters, Lex is almost probably on the thespian side, because to her, that's… that's, it's very much a, oh, these people are just sort of, like, you know, role-playing, and doing their thing, and, like, you know.
- 43:32Peter Eggleston Connor: I never got into LARPing.
- 43:35Peter Eggleston Connor: But, you know… I like dancing, and I like, you know, the… the… And…
- 43:43Peter Eggleston Connor: I don't know if, like, I really want to get involved in this war, but I really don't want to see them get slaughtered.
- 43:48Phil: Which is really unfortunate, because,
- 43:55Phil: maybe, I guess there's a stray… a stray from the camp that wanders past you, and it's like, oh my god, great costumes, you guys! You know, like, they're just really enthused, and… and they're like, hey, are you… are you also here for, the… I forget what I said they were.
- 44:12Phil: But, like, oh, come on, here we go. Oh, oh, right, right, so, like, you know.
- 44:22Phil: she says to you, like, hey, are you guys here to… for… for relighting the Soul Forge?
- 44:27Phil: You know? So, like…
- 44:29Phil: So this is where… yes, they are… they do look like barbers, they do look like thespians, they're… they're just a whole bunch of nerds, but…
- 44:37Phil: You're noticing that they…
- 44:41Phil: They seem to actually believe the story that they're telling each other, which is that they are, you know, a traveling group of entertainers that are the remnants of
- 44:53Phil: you know, one of the last true kingdoms of DIE, that, they were the kingdom that founded the Emotion Knights, and they are actually on a quest to relight the Soul Forge, which is able to craft more emotional weapons to return the glory of the Emotion Knights to the Land of DIE.
- 45:12Phil: So, you know, they… they have a prophecy, and they are convinced that they need to meet it.
- 45:21Phil: You know, and they're… they're convinced that the embers to relight the Soul Forge lie within, buried deep within the minds of… of the God of War, this giant that is… that has fallen to… to the sky… fallen from the skies here.
- 45:39Peter Eggleston Connor: Deep within the mines?
- 45:42Phil: Yeah, the… the mind. Like, It's like, it's in his skull.
- 45:46Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, mine.
- 45:47Phil: Yeah. Sorry. Yeah. I didn't mean for that double entendre, but I like it.
- 45:53Peter Eggleston Connor: I was like…
- 45:54Peter Eggleston Connor: What are we doing, going to the mines of Moria that just happen to be in the God of War?
- 45:58Phil: the minds of the mind! You know, one of those sorts of things.
- 46:06Phil: But yeah, but I mean, you know, you're…
- 46:11Phil: if not heroes, at least have the capacity to perform as such. You know, you're wielders of, four of the… the legendary dice.
- 46:20Phil: That can… can shape the world, you know? So… she, you know.
- 46:29Phil: sees Alan's D6 and… and thinks nothing more than, oh, you're cosplaying as DIE Wielders. But if… if you, you know, showed any displays of power, they would… they would quickly fawn over you like the,
- 46:44Phil: The, squeezy aliens in the claw machine of Toy Story, you know, yeah, they would be, they would be starstruck pretty, pretty immediately that, that you have real dice.
- 46:54Lee Woods: I was a pro back, thank you for that.
- 46:56Phil: Thank you.
- 47:01Peter Eggleston Connor: Okay.
- 47:02Peter Eggleston Connor: Mark.
- 47:05Phil: You say, utterly convincingly.
- 47:08Peter Eggleston Connor: Utterly convincing.
- 47:16Lee Woods: I… I will say, Willie is just…
- 47:20Lee Woods: maybe he's just a little bit hungry, for some reason? So he might not be the best sound mind and body right now.
- 47:28Phil: So, there's… there's definitely…
- 47:29Peter Eggleston Connor: I mean, Willie is very much like…
- 47:31Peter Eggleston Connor: You want to go into that creature's mind?
- 47:34Peter Eggleston Connor: Fuck yeah, man!
- 47:36Lee Woods: Right?
- 47:37Phil: This…
- 47:38Peter Eggleston Connor: I mean, I don't speak for you. This isn't like…
- 47:40Peter Eggleston Connor: It sounds like that would be where you might be at.
- 47:43Phil: That might be… and that's… this is… I think… I think Willie's gonna need another… well, this is where I'd say, if… if you'd rather roll intelligence than wisdom, you know, to see if you can… you know, because wisdom is like… is like instincts from the gods, kind of how I… I throw them at you, but if you can… if you think you can intelligence your way into,
- 48:03Phil: channeling your… your urge to consume flesh towards a turkey leg, as opposed to the giant before you, then, I think… I think that's doable.
- 48:14Lee Woods: Okay, I'll go with that.
- 48:16Phil: Yeah, yeah.
- 48:17Lee Woods: All else fails, trust the dice. Yep. Trust the DIE, as it were. My intelligence is a 3 right now, so that'd be 3D6, right?
- 48:25Phil: Yep, yep.
- 48:27Lee Woods: Alright.
- 48:28Lee Woods: First one is A3.
- 48:30Phil: Huh.
- 48:31Lee Woods: Second one is a 4.
- 48:32Phil: Okay.
- 48:33Lee Woods: 3rd is a 6. Okay, so…
- 48:35Phil: That's… that… that sounds like, yes, you can… you can, you know, the line, while the line for turkey legs is long, it is not too long, so to speak, so… so yeah.
- 48:45Lee Woods: Justifiably long. Yeah.
- 48:47Phil: I'm, I, yeah, so not… not… you're…
- 48:49Phil: you're… you're not overcome with urges to, go charge… charge the giant and start… start a conundrum.
- 48:58Lee Woods: You know.
- 48:58Phil: Yeah. That's the other thing, is that it is night.
- 49:02Phil: you guys have come across… so, I guess, I mean, like, to retroactively, spell out the scene for you is that as you came through the valleys as WASG was leading you through, like, you know, a craggy valley, and, you know, you just came over to the side, and you emerged to a large clearing where there's two camps of various lights, and, you know, they're flickering ahead of you, where you slowly catch glimpses, and it's like, as your eyes
- 49:27Phil: adjust to, The bonfires, you see, like, the shadows of this giant…
- 49:32Phil: creature… creature's head. You know.
- 49:35Phil: Sort of thing. But yeah, but that also means that,
- 49:39Phil: I don't remember… I don't remember how much Fair Gold… you had,
- 49:45Phil: Going into this. If you'd written it down, we can go off of that. But, if not…
- 49:51Phil: Then… oh, you, you did… you had, you'd written down that you had how much Sunfair Gold?
- 49:55Lee Woods: I had two, but I also, keeping myself honest here, I don't know how long ago it was, in terms of the day.
- 50:03Phil: Right, right. Yeah, neither do I, so that's why I'm thinking that, we're about… we're about to do… to do a reset, so,
- 50:13Phil: seen as, you know, it's the night, there's… there's camps over there, the general air is that there's going to be a battle in the morning. So if… if you… if you decide you want to participate in the battle, then I would advise a,
- 50:28Phil: someone to scout out some fair gold, so that you are adequately powered for combat.
- 50:37Lee Woods: Okay. Yeah, they say, they disappear at dawn, so I got a little bit of time before I can…
- 50:43Phil: Yeah. So the way, and they've made mention on the, on the Discord that the idea is that, like, okay, yeah, they disappear at dawn, but, like.
- 50:52Phil: they last for 24 hours for me, so you can take your fair gold right before dawn, like, charge yourself for that day, so it's not, like.
- 50:59Lee Woods: every dawn.
- 51:00Phil: And you start from zero, you know?
- 51:02Lee Woods: Right.
- 51:03Lee Woods: Yeah. Okay.
- 51:05Tad Eggleston: So, I'm gonna help him get some fair gold, cause in the morning.
- 51:10Tad Eggleston: Or in the night, I will sing.
- 51:12Tad Eggleston: Once there was a way.
- 51:15Tad Eggleston: To get back, oh my… Once there was a way…
- 51:22Tad Eggleston: To get back home, sleep, pretty darling, do not Bye.
- 51:30Tad Eggleston: And I will sing a lullaby.
- 51:36Tad Eggleston: Golden slumbers fill your eyes.
- 51:45Tad Eggleston: So wake you when you rise. Sleep, pretty darling, do not cry.
- 51:57Tad Eggleston: And I will sing a lullaby.
- 52:03Tad Eggleston: I'm pretty certain that will create fair gold that will appear when he… arises.
- 52:09Peter Eggleston Connor: You do know you have to…
- 52:11Peter Eggleston Connor: pull fair gold out of,
- 52:16Phil: pollen.
- 52:17Peter Eggleston Connor: Fallen, right?
- 52:19Tad Eggleston: Well…
- 52:20Phil: So this is…
- 52:21Phil: This is where, I would say, Tad, go ahead and, give us a charisma roll.
- 52:29Peter Eggleston Connor: We've definitely fallen in.
- 52:31Phil: Includes your Fool Die, so I think you… I don't… I think you had at least 3 charisma?
- 52:38Tad Eggleston: Yeah, cause I think you put in…
- 52:41Phil: Dexterity and Constitution.
- 52:44Tad Eggleston: Security is 3, constitution is 3. I don't see a charisma.
- 52:51Lee Woods: I'll be right beside your wisdom.
- 52:53Tad Eggleston: Oh, there it is, 3. Yeah, I've got 3 Charisma.
- 52:56Phil: Okay, yeah, so go ahead and,
- 52:57Tad Eggleston: Were we doing 3 charisma plus the Fool DIE, or…
- 53:01Phil: the fool die? Yeah. Because this, this, singing a lullaby for fair gold is, is a little foolish, I would say.
- 53:08Peter Eggleston Connor: That's the idea. I think it's very foolish. Exactly!
- 53:13Tad Eggleston: Exactly, I'm…
- 53:15Lee Woods: It's not complaining.
- 53:16Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, I have no problem with you doing it. I just think, like…
- 53:19Tad Eggleston: So, my, my 3 regular dice are 3-1-1. Okay.
- 53:25Tad Eggleston: my… my… Pool's Dice is a 5. Okay.
- 53:33Tad Eggleston: Which is a blank on the side of my fool's DIE right now.
- 53:36Phil: Okay, so you have, you have one success.
- 53:39Phil: it was almost a critical failure, because you'd gotten 1s. If you had no successes and a 1, that's a critical failure. But, but no, thankfully you have one success, which means,
- 53:52Phil: There is… What appears to be a cosplayer who's cosplaying as a Fallen.
- 54:02Phil: Wanders out of the crowd, up to your… to your, song, and, you know, drops a piece of regular unfair gold.
- 54:12Phil: Into… into your hat.
- 54:14Phil: And, you know, claps and says, Encore, another, another! You know, and,
- 54:27Tad Eggleston: Bye, Yellow Pick Road.
- 54:31Phil: And as you start singing that, that is where, you know, an actual one single actual Fallen jumps out from the woods and starts attacking the cosplayer. I imagine you two would be able to quickly and easily, you know, take out this one guy.
- 54:50Lee Woods: Shoot them.
- 54:51Phil: I mean, go for it, go for it, take it, you know.
- 54:53Lee Woods: Oh, God.
- 54:53Phil: Roll, dammit. This is… this is an actual… yes, he's… he is eating, he is eating the cosplayer,
- 55:00Phil: And… And, animated piece.
- 55:04Phil: It's gonna come after you, Nix!
- 55:06Lee Woods: Well, yeah, I think, in all actuality.
- 55:09Phil: Yeah.
- 55:09Lee Woods: I would definitely be on the quick draw here. I think mine, Willie has a Cole 45, if I remember correctly. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And given where he has been in this sort of fugue state, I think it's absolutely within reason he would just, ba-bang!
- 55:23Phil: Yeah, yeah, yeah, go for it. Go ahead and roll, roll the, give a dexterity roll plus your D10, since that's your Neogun.
- 55:32Lee Woods: Okay, Dexterity's a D6 plus the D10, correct?
- 55:36Phil: Yeah, so that's… do you have 3 dexterity, or 4?
- 55:40Lee Woods: I have… dexterity, I can read 3.
- 55:45Phil: Okay, so yeah, go ahead and roll those 3, plus the, the D10.
- 55:48Lee Woods: Okay, so my 3D6 are going to be… 3?
- 55:53Phil: Huh.
- 55:54Lee Woods: and 3…
- 55:55Phil: Huh.
- 55:56Lee Woods: And 3. Fantastic.
- 55:58Phil: Okay.
- 55:58Lee Woods: My D10 is a 1. Oh, wow.
- 56:01Phil: Okay, so your… yeah, your… your gun jams, so this is a critical thing. I don't know how a… a Colt 45 would jam, but,
- 56:13Phil: You know, cause that's a pretty…
- 56:15Phil: That's a pretty… that's like a… that's like a six-shooter, right? You know? That's… that's a very mechanical,
- 56:21Phil: But somehow it does.
- 56:22Lee Woods: Like a hammer.
- 56:23Phil: Right, yeah, yeah. Like, weirdly, somehow the way you were holding it is that the hammer hits your thumb instead of the bullet. Yeah, so no, no wound. I… you will lose a guard, but, yeah, now we're gonna need, we're gonna need someone else to… to react to that.
- 56:40Tad Eggleston: I will say that while the Fallen is distracted by the gun, I swipe out my Carlisle sword and just slice off its head, but I don't know which is which, so I probably also slice off the head.
- 56:59Peter Eggleston Connor: I mean…
- 57:00Peter Eggleston Connor: I'll interject, just because you've had an action more recently, and I would like to at least try to stab it with a dagger before you get a chance to, you know…
- 57:10Tad Eggleston: Sure, sure, sure, sure.
- 57:11Peter Eggleston Connor: You know, drop off everything that you're doing and, like, you know, slice it with a sword.
- 57:18Peter Eggleston Connor: Sure, sure. Dexterity, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah, for dagger, yeah. Like, I can't pull out my energy weapon, I don't have any…
- 57:26Peter Eggleston Connor: pools go, but…
- 57:27Phil: Oh, okay.
- 57:28Peter Eggleston Connor: Sorry, fair gold, not pool gold.
- 57:32Tad Eggleston: Well, I mean, there's some cool stuff.
- 57:33Peter Eggleston Connor: One and a two.
- 57:35Phil: A 4, 1, and a 2, okay, so you…
- 57:37Peter Eggleston Connor: Of course.
- 57:38Phil: Oh, two fours? Okay, cool. So yeah, so it's dead. Standard fall only has 2 wounds, so you do plunge the knife into it, where it… it gasps and coughs and sputters up, a little coin for you.
- 57:53Phil: Because that was your… that's how your… your fair gold takes. Yep. Let me actually…
- 58:01Phil: Yeah, so it spits out two… two pieces of fair gold for you.
- 58:07Phil: And this is where, so… so, Tad, go ahead and give me a dexterity roll.
- 58:12Phil: with,
- 58:14Tad Eggleston: Because I was about to say, I am the fool, so I would definitely still be… so we need to figure out whether I accidentally killed the wrong guy, or whether we have consequences.
- 58:25Phil: So yeah, so go, go ahead and give me, give me a dexterity plus, plus Fool DIE there.
- 58:29Tad Eggleston: Okay, so hey, it's the same roll, 3 and… 3 plus the full thing.
- 58:34Tad Eggleston: So… What was the, what was the cooldown?
- 58:37Tad Eggleston: 5, 3, and 2 is my dexterity roll, 4 is my full DIE roll.
- 58:43Phil: Okay.
- 58:44Tad Eggleston: 4 is currently a 0, so I get a fluke.
- 58:48Phil: Oh, okay.
- 58:49Tad Eggleston: I might die.
- 58:50Phil: So, yes, this is… this is where,
- 58:55Phil: So, I was gonna say, until you got that fluke, that you had swung your guitar instead of your sword, because you were already holding it.
- 59:05Phil: You know?
- 59:06Phil: But due to the fluke, it was actually your sword, and you did decapitate that cosplayer, so,
- 59:14Phil: You know, crisis averted, you know.
- 59:19Tad Eggleston: Crisis averted, or do we now have a bunch of angry cosplayers?
- 59:23Phil: Well, the… so… so that stopped the fallen outbreak, because, you know, as… as he killed it, but then you cut off its head, so there's no chance for it to turn, so it kind of just.
- 59:33Tad Eggleston: prevented that.
- 59:34Phil: from even… from even happening and outbreaking. So it really was good luck.
- 59:38Phil: That you were so quick to respond to… to… you know, the violent situation.
- 59:44Peter Eggleston Connor: But that doesn't necessarily mean the cosplayers know what's going on.
- 59:47Tad Eggleston: Yeah, I was about to say, I think the cosplayers are probably pretty mad at us. I just beheaded one of them.
- 59:51Phil: The denizens of DIE are familiar with the Fallen, so the fact that there was a real Fallen there, they saw that, and they were like, okay, yeah, like, this is why we told people, don't wander too far away from the group, because then Fallen will pick you off from the woods.
- 1:00:05Tad Eggleston: I probably told them not to cosplay as Fallen 2. This guy was a dick.
- 1:00:09Phil: Yeah, it's not a… it's… it's…
- 1:00:10Tad Eggleston: There's always one guy that's gotta cosplay as a Nazi.
- 1:00:15Phil: Yep, or, or, like, I'm trying to think the Game of Thrones, the person who's, like, a really big fan of Ramsay Bolton for, like, undescribable reasons, he was kind of like that. Right. Yeah. So, okay.
- 1:00:25Lee Woods: I love, Phil, that your rationale there is just, like, You idiot. Yup! Yup.
- 1:00:32Phil: The world's call died. Not everybody's gonna get out, okay? So… so, Peter, you've gotten 2 more pieces of fair gold. This is where, you know, if you don't want to try to lure more Fallen via song.
- 1:00:47Phil: You could, look at… there's… there's a whole bunch of… there's merch booths.
- 1:00:54Phil: Some of them could very well have some fair gold in the marketplace there.
- 1:00:58Phil: There's also always the Memory Merchant, if you… if you need a recharge.
- 1:01:04Peter Eggleston Connor: I mean, I only ever need 3 fair gold. Currently, I have one thing active, two of them… well, let me… two of them I can activate, and if they work for 24 hours.
- 1:01:16Peter Eggleston Connor: even if the full AI goes down, at the time… at dawn, I get another additional pair of gold.
- 1:01:24Phil: Yeah. Oh, right! You get one per session, too!
- 1:01:28Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, so if you…
- 1:01:30Phil: Yeah, that's how it works.
- 1:01:31Peter Eggleston Connor: I mean, if you wanted to. So, I'm at 3 already.
- 1:01:34Phil: Yeah, so you're at 3 now, so you can be… you can have all of your tools charged, when the morning…
- 1:01:39Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, I'll probably just charge all my tools right before it's gone.
- 1:01:43Phil: But if you need any overcharge, you know, that doesn't leave you any room for overcharge, so…
- 1:01:47Peter Eggleston Connor: I should probably get some overcharge. Well, except overcharge won't work.
- 1:01:54Phil: Oh, right, because you can't take it immediately.
- 1:01:57Peter Eggleston Connor: Because I can't…
- 1:01:58Phil: Mmm… okay. Well…
- 1:02:01Phil: Well, depending… if you… I mean, if you really… if you wanted some, like, back pocket overcharge, you could either…
- 1:02:08Phil: I think… I think you could take it, and then it'll just be, like, a res… we would do it as, like, a reserves kind of thing, you know, because I… I still want that option to be open to you, that, like, overcharge is kind of, like, you know, that's your… that's your, that's the equivalent of fool's prep.
- 1:02:23Peter Eggleston Connor: what my abilities were. I see Pawn Shop here.
- 1:02:26Phil: Yeah, you've got the, you've got the,
- 1:02:33Peter Eggleston Connor: I know I got.
- 1:02:33Phil: hologram projector that,
- 1:02:36Peter Eggleston Connor: No, no, I was, I was trying to remember… I know I have a source…
- 1:02:40Phil: Huh.
- 1:02:41Peter Eggleston Connor: We have the… the gold source from.
- 1:02:45Peter Eggleston Connor: 5… I just need to go remember… Right.
- 1:02:49Peter Eggleston Connor: Did I have a child?
- 1:02:52Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, from level 6, yeah, okay.
- 1:02:54Peter Eggleston Connor: That's the most recent one, sorry.
- 1:02:56Phil: That's okay.
- 1:02:56Peter Eggleston Connor: I labeled them, because I don't have an actual sheet, I labeled the one 1 through 20, and then…
- 1:03:03Phil: Oh, okay.
- 1:03:04Peter Eggleston Connor: I just, like, every time I level up, I mention what triangle I went to.
- 1:03:08Phil: Okay.
- 1:03:09Peter Eggleston Connor: So…
- 1:03:10Phil: That works.
- 1:03:11Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah. Sorry.
- 1:03:14Phil: And I know you had… your energy sword had potential sleep paralysis or, fire?
- 1:03:20Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, it does.
- 1:03:21Phil: Learning.
- 1:03:22Peter Eggleston Connor: I'm trying to remember how the gold source worked, because.
- 1:03:26Peter Eggleston Connor: One part session, I thought was just, at the beginning of the day, you always have one, so I might.
- 1:03:31Phil: No, it's, no, it was… it, if I remember correctly, which I am now flipping…
- 1:03:39Phil: furiously flipping through the rulebook to… yeah, gold source. At the start of each day, you receive one fair gold via a reasonably safe method. What is it? Okay, so yeah, so it is each day. You are correct. I thought it was each session, but it is each day, so… so yeah, so it's…
- 1:03:55Peter Eggleston Connor: So… so once… once we have the rollover, I can… again, I can…
- 1:04:00Phil: Yeah, you're, you're…
- 1:04:01Peter Eggleston Connor: I don't know how… I guess, actually, it would be good to go get one more fair gold for me to get a… make sure that my full AI is steady for the next 24 hours, so… Yeah.
- 1:04:11Peter Eggleston Connor: Okay, so what were you suggesting for looking for more fair gold?
- 1:04:15Phil: You could… you could try to, you know, attract more Fallen via song, or, you could check out the,
- 1:04:25Phil: the, merchants, the merchants, that travel with… because it's like a Ren Faire, so they have trinkets for sale.
- 1:04:32Phil: There's some fair gold mixed in, though.
- 1:04:33Peter Eggleston Connor: I wonder if I could also use my full III to, see if there's a spot around here that just has more pollen in it.
- 1:04:40Phil: Yeah, yeah, if you want to try to locate some fallen, not with song, you know, try to,
- 1:04:46Phil: do something like, I think that sounds like the kind of thing your AI could definitely detect, you know.
- 1:04:51Phil: Packs of Fallen. I… I feel like… I feel like I can see your rolling arm jiggling on screen, so…
- 1:04:57Peter Eggleston Connor: And it sounds like.
- 1:04:58Phil: That's… that's… yeah, absolutely. Here's the thing, you don't have to ask my permission. You can roll me… you can roll and then tell me what the result is, and then something's gonna happen from it, you know?
- 1:05:07Peter Eggleston Connor: No, that's fair, but, I got a 4, a 5, 2 6s, and my, D10 is a 2, so…
- 1:05:16Phil: Okay.
- 1:05:16Peter Eggleston Connor: That didn't work out, but everything else… Okay.
- 1:05:19Phil: So, that is… there's a pack of, four fallen, into the woods around, it's not a traditional campfire, it's like an ultraviolet campfire, so it may… it's like a… it's a fire that's emitting black light.
- 1:05:35Phil: You know, that's what, that's what the Fallen are all, are all camping around. Two of them, are, you know, two of them look like normal, normal Fallen with just claws, angry. One of them has wings.
- 1:05:49Phil: And, the other seems to have no mouth and, extra sets of glowing eyes, on its forehead.
- 1:05:57Phil: So, I think there's, like, 4 sets of eyes there.
- 1:06:00Phil: So, so yeah, so that's got, some… some weird mutations about them. But yeah, you… but you can locate them, and, you know, with careful planning, I'm sure you could get the jump on them if you'd like.
- 1:06:13Peter Eggleston Connor: I, nudge Wilhelm, since I only really need one more gold.
- 1:06:18Peter Eggleston Connor: Hey…
- 1:06:19Peter Eggleston Connor: I tracked down some fallen. You wanna… wanna try to go get some more, fair gold?
- 1:06:27Lee Woods: And Wilhelm is literally holding his thumb like I'm doing right now, just, like, sort of based off the hammer just colliding with his thumb.
- 1:06:36Lee Woods: I think he'll… Sort of give his firearm a once-over, and sort of wipe it down, like…
- 1:06:43Lee Woods: Yeah, if I can get this damn thing to work, I'll do it.
- 1:06:48Lee Woods: And then… He will, yeah, follow your lead there.
- 1:06:53Peter Eggleston Connor: Okay. And I'll look out, and I'll say, you in? No more songs, please.
- 1:06:58Tad Eggleston: 4 more songs!
- 1:07:01Peter Eggleston Connor: Not while we're sneaking up on them.
- 1:07:04Tad Eggleston: Ever fallen in love? Ever fallen in love with someone you shouldn't follow?
- 1:07:08Peter Eggleston Connor: I decided we can leave out.
- 1:07:13Tad Eggleston: Probably a good idea.
- 1:07:15Peter Eggleston Connor: It, it's…
- 1:07:16Phil: quite frankly, it's safer, because I was thinking about it, and I was like, it's a foolish thing to bring a fool along on a sneaking mission, which means he'll be fine!
- 1:07:25Phil: But, yeah, that makes sense to go off just the two of you.
- 1:07:29Phil: Okay, so we can have, a little mini-encounter. The… what… what is… what's gonna be your strategy? How… I mean, would you want to try and take on, you know, 4 against 2? Would you want to try to isolate them, set a trap? What's, what's your thought process here?
- 1:07:47Peter Eggleston Connor: So, it lasts for 24 hours. What time is it, roughly now?
- 1:07:56Phil: It's midnight, you know, so if you… yeah, so if you take… if you use the gold you just got, which was 2, and you had one that was powered… like, your AI was up and powered, you know, so then…
- 1:08:12Phil: you have two, plus start the next day gets you a third, so yeah, so if you wanted to use the two now, those would basically last 24 hours until… through the battle tomorrow.
- 1:08:21Peter Eggleston Connor: I mean, an ambush might be a good option. What do we… what… as we get closer, what can we tell about what's the, like, surroundings? I mean…
- 1:08:31Phil: So, it is a… spooky, hilly…
- 1:08:37Phil: woods, so there are trees together that, you know, are kind of blocking line of sight. They're in a little bit of an outcropping up against a, like, sheer cliff wall. You know.
- 1:08:55Phil: And their ultraviolet fire is,
- 1:08:59Phil: You know, they made a little lean-to camp.
- 1:09:02Phil: Up against this cliff wall, so that they're… they, like, you know, kind of have their backs up against something, but are still sitting around a little bit of a fire with the last of their human impulses.
- 1:09:12Peter Eggleston Connor: I'm gonna use my Fair Gold to activate my light field projector and my energy weapon.
- 1:09:17Phil: Awesome.
- 1:09:19Peter Eggleston Connor: Just to make sure that I have them available,
- 1:09:25Peter Eggleston Connor: There was something we need to… oh, the extra fair gold is to rerun the full AI once we get.
- 1:09:30Phil: Yeah, you're,
- 1:09:32Peter Eggleston Connor: Ben, okay.
- 1:09:33Phil: Yeah, your daily one can recharge it.
- 1:09:36Peter Eggleston Connor: No, I just meant, like, the x-ray of what I was trying to get now was so that.
- 1:09:41Peter Eggleston Connor: Daily one once… we get the daily one.
- 1:09:44Phil: Gotcha, okay, yeah, that works.
- 1:09:45Peter Eggleston Connor: I don't know if that's how it works, but…
- 1:09:47Phil: We could play it like that. Like, the daily one is, like, the way I think of it is, like, you basically, like, find a coin in your pocket, you know, something like that.
- 1:09:56Phil: like I said, safe method is pretty much just however you want to find it, you find it, you know?
- 1:10:02Peter Eggleston Connor: I have, yeah, I've used Teni to set up a, a regularly, installed, Fallen Trap.
- 1:10:11Peter Eggleston Connor: Or especially, like, the AI will go off and find a fallen, and it can only happen once per day, but it will take that fallen and essentially just smash it.
- 1:10:24Phil: Oh…
- 1:10:26Peter Eggleston Connor: But puts it in a cube and smashes it, and then, like, after it claims the, Follet or the fair gold, it just turns out to my pocket.
- 1:10:35Phil: Nice. That's pretty cool. That's pretty cool. Speaking of which, you can use your AI to hack the fallen and control them.
- 1:10:43Peter Eggleston Connor: That is true.
- 1:10:44Phil: Which I… both of you can. I believe, Peter… let me read real quick how that works, because I did remember that, that's what's… that's what's happening in the current issues of DIE right now, is that the Neo is controlling their, fallen teammates to keep them from, you know, murdering.
- 1:11:01Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, that's right, they have a new, new series, don't they?
- 1:11:05Phil: Downloaded.
- 1:11:06Peter Eggleston Connor: Start, raising… It's good.
- 1:11:08Phil: The first 7 issues… are 8 issues around?
- 1:11:11Tad Eggleston: 8 issues, I think.
- 1:11:12Phil: Eight issues, yeah. So let's see here… the full AI enhancement, you augment your AI to access its full potential,
- 1:11:24Phil: Okay.
- 1:11:25Phil: Okay.
- 1:11:27Phil: Right, so the fallen leash is, like, the indefinite…
- 1:11:31Phil: Upgrade, but… let's see here, it says as if you've fallen a special every round.
- 1:11:38Phil: Here we go. Okay, to use your Neotech to overcome an immediate problem, roll a dice pool based on your intelligence…
- 1:11:45Phil: Here we go.
- 1:11:50Phil: Okay.
- 1:11:56Phil: Okay, cool. So, the way the hacking works is that a regular success just, like, freezes them in place, and then a special allows you to control them, like, make them do an action.
- 1:12:09Phil: So, yeah.
- 1:12:11Peter Eggleston Connor: It would be an int-based check.
- 1:12:13Phil: int-based check, I would say that since you are hidden, you would have an advantage, since you have the full AI enhancement. Advantage.
- 1:12:23Peter Eggleston Connor: One more die, right?
- 1:12:24Phil: Advantage means one more die, and since you have the full AI enhancement, you can use your D10 with that hack, because I believe…
- 1:12:33Phil: Right. I believe you need…
- 1:12:35Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah. So, I'll whisper to Wilhelm that I think, like, the best thing that we can do right now is, like, try to hack them. I don't know how well he can hack into things, but…
- 1:12:46Phil: So, he also has hacking abilities?
- 1:12:49Peter Eggleston Connor: I know, I know, I'm talking about my character.
- 1:12:53Phil: Right.
- 1:12:54Phil: I see, I see. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And so this is, this is where now letting, letting,
- 1:12:59Phil: Lee know that… I mean, because you have, I think, 3 levels still, so I don't know if you felt like picking the AI enhancement, that would allow you to use a D10 with any rolls, but you can still do it. You can still, you know, do it with your D6, it's just that, you know, slightly less likelihood of you controlling them and maybe just… just locking them up.
- 1:13:18Peter Eggleston Connor: I mean, I'm also kind of curious, like, how he describes it, if he does it, and he's like, oh, but I'm old tech, so I do it like this, right?
- 1:13:27Phil: Maybe. Just like a fierce, like, stare down, you know, like a gunslinger eye sort of situation, just like.
- 1:13:33Lee Woods: Oh, thank you, Gunslinger.
- 1:13:34Phil: Yep, yep.
- 1:13:36Peter Eggleston Connor: I'll roll for that.
- 1:13:37Phil: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:13:38Peter Eggleston Connor: Holy shit.
- 1:13:38Phil: We'll see what yours… what yours does, and then, he would see how he would react based on that, so…
- 1:13:44Peter Eggleston Connor: Alright, I have…
- 1:13:47Phil: Because your intelligence is 4, or is it 3?
- 1:13:50Peter Eggleston Connor: It's 4, so with the advantage, I get 5. Yep, yep.
- 1:13:54Phil: Yep, yep.
- 1:13:55Peter Eggleston Connor: So, I got a 4, a 5, 2 6s, and an 8.
- 1:13:58Phil: 26 is an 8? Sweet.
- 1:14:00Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, and a 3 for one pill.
- 1:14:03Phil: That's fine.
- 1:14:04Peter Eggleston Connor: 5… 5 successes.
- 1:14:06Phil: Right, so Willy doesn't even need to… to hack, because you… you've locked them down, and you can actually make 3 of them, like, do something. Like, perform an action, like attack each other if you want to soften them a little bit,
- 1:14:20Phil: But, like, yeah, they are… they are locked down for… for a round, and like I said, you could… you could… if you want to make it easier and have them kind of hurt each other, or do something else, like, I mean, you could…
- 1:14:33Phil: Because, like, here's the thing is…
- 1:14:34Peter Eggleston Connor: I'm gonna… I'm gonna have, essentially, it's gonna be, like, a…
- 1:14:45Peter Eggleston Connor: domino effect, where the first one, like, there's gonna be the one that's just stung, right? Yeah. That… the first one after that is gonna jump on that guy, and, like, start, like, gnawing his head off, and then the one after that is gonna try.
- 1:15:01Phil: Yeah.
- 1:15:02Peter Eggleston Connor: Same thing to that guy, and then… Okay, yeah, so…
- 1:15:06Phil: Right, so the first one freezes, the second one jumps on it and starts tearing it to pieces, it immediately kills it. Then the spider-eyed one
- 1:15:20Phil: only wounds, because it got 2, 2, 3, and 5, so it then,
- 1:15:28Phil: So there's still one more wound needed on the initial jumper, and then the giant, winged one is gonna attack the spider one, and that kills it. So, so now you've got…
- 1:15:41Phil: a big, a big, like, winged, where it, like, jumped in and it just crushed down. So that one's, like, a little bit bigger than… than your regular, your regular Fallen, and then there's a wounded Fallen. So, I guess, Willie, what, what, what do you want to do from here?
- 1:15:59Lee Woods: So, here's what I'm thinking. You tell me if I'm being too ambitious here.
- 1:16:03Phil: Okay.
- 1:16:03Lee Woods: is that I, I want to lean into my…
- 1:16:07Lee Woods: character sheet where it says, I have a billowing black cloak and sinister scarlet eyes. So, in my head.
- 1:16:15Lee Woods: I like the idea of the sort of Western stare-down, where…
- 1:16:20Lee Woods: I do a little bit of an eye squint, but…
- 1:16:22Lee Woods: If you notice, my eyes tend to have a little bit more like a… hypnotic, sort of.
- 1:16:29Lee Woods: spiky spiral kind of happening in my eyes. Okay. And the whole goal is, at least very similarly, maybe not necessarily a freeze in terms of paralysis, but much more just slowing them down.
- 1:16:43Lee Woods: Okay. That may… like, they're just a little bit more manageable to defeat.
- 1:16:48Lee Woods: Or get the jump.
- 1:16:50Phil: Okay. I mean, if you… if you were to attack, you would already have an advantage from being hidden, but if you want to try to, like, additionally freeze or control the two that are left after, after Lex's initial attack, yeah, you could… you could…
- 1:17:04Phil: Do a hack there, so that would just be… Your intelligence plus one advantage.
- 1:17:10Phil: I would say.
- 1:17:11Lee Woods: Optimal Advantage, so it'll be… Yeah.
- 1:17:14Lee Woods: 4D6?
- 1:17:15Phil: Yes, and no, no D10, because, because you do not… unless, you know…
- 1:17:20Phil: Unless you felt like taking the full AI, but we don't need to cross that bridge just yet.
- 1:17:25Lee Woods: Okay, so, 4D6, here we go. So it'll be, 1…
- 1:17:30Lee Woods: Oh, I… I did a thing. That's a 1.
- 1:17:34Phil: Okay.
- 1:17:36Lee Woods: That's a 6.
- 1:17:38Phil: Okay.
- 1:17:39Lee Woods: And two…
- 1:17:41Phil: Okay.
- 1:17:44Lee Woods: 1162.
- 1:17:46Phil: Okay, so, what that means is… I'm gonna say… That's the…
- 1:17:57Phil: So you could have the,
- 1:17:59Phil: So that's the… the 6 lets you have… make a command. Would you rather the winged one that is full health attack the wounded one, or have the wounded one attack the winged one?
- 1:18:12Lee Woods: The wounded one to attack the winged one.
- 1:18:15Phil: Okay, cool. So I'm gonna roll those dice…
- 1:18:19Phil: And it got 1, 2, and 5, so it now, has a wound into the winged one. They're just staring at each other, with fierce intensity, hating… hating each other more than they usually do, slightly confused, very pissed off, so…
- 1:18:38Phil: The… the winged one has two… two wounds left, and the other one is 1 wound.
- 1:18:45Phil: One wound left. So, now Peter, since I was, you know, their turns, they don't have a turn, it's now your turn again, if you want to try to kill them, lock them down, but yeah, if you don't… if someone doesn't keep controlling them, they are going to get to respond to you at some point.
- 1:19:02Peter Eggleston Connor: I'll try to keep locking them down, why not?
- 1:19:06Phil: So that's just your intelligence plus D10, since they're aware of you now.
- 1:19:11Phil: That's still probably more than enough.
- 1:19:13Peter Eggleston Connor: I mean, that I just grab the dice, and… Yep.
- 1:19:16Peter Eggleston Connor: Needed to remove one.
- 1:19:17Phil: Oh, yeah.
- 1:19:20Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, we got a 4, 5, a 6, and my D10 is a 6, and the last DIE is a 2.
- 1:19:26Phil: Okay, so, so yeah, so that's more than enough to control both of them. What is the series of events? How do you want them to try to murder each other?
- 1:19:37Peter Eggleston Connor: The big one is gonna stay, like, kinda… like, it's actually gonna be the smaller one that attacks the big one first.
- 1:19:43Phil: Okay.
- 1:19:44Peter Eggleston Connor: And if the big one is still alive, it's gonna attack that.
- 1:19:47Phil: Okay, so the small one does take another big chunk out of it, so it's down to one wound, and then the big one's gonna hit back…
- 1:19:55Phil: And, yup, it definitely just squashes it back, so now the big one has one hit left,
- 1:20:01Phil: this would be an ideal time for Willie to take a shot at it, or, you know, whatever traditional methods of murder you'd like to resort to.
- 1:20:10Lee Woods: Yeah, I… I'm gonna… Go for the attack, hopefully my gun works!
- 1:20:16Phil: Right?
- 1:20:17Phil: We'll blame, we'll blame the, the digital dice whenever that happens.
- 1:20:21Lee Woods: Oh, 100%. Yeah. Alright, so I got,
- 1:20:26Lee Woods: 4 dice total, let me get my number right… Dex? DEX is 3.
- 1:20:30Lee Woods: Okay. So that'd be 3 dice?
- 1:20:32Phil: Yeah, 3 dice plus your D10, since your gift was the gun.
- 1:20:38Lee Woods: So the 3 dice, 3D6s are 3, 3, and 4, the D10 is a, 1.
- 1:20:45Phil: That is… that 4 is enough to, make the… the winged one just a chunk and hole through the center, just like a big ol' meat pie just… just comes right out of it, and it collapses. So now, to determine how much fair gold is from this bounty…
- 1:21:05Phil: We're gonna say… okay.
- 1:21:11Phil: So there's 5 pieces of fair gold amongst, the corpses.
- 1:21:17Phil: So you guys can divvy that up how you'd like. It's a little less fun than, yeah.
- 1:21:24Peter Eggleston Connor: Yes, well, one? Okay. Okay.
- 1:21:28Phil: So that would leave 4 for.
- 1:21:30Tad Eggleston: Or for Lee.
- 1:21:32Phil: Alright.
- 1:21:33Lee Woods: So I have 7 total.
- 1:21:36Phil: So, your… whatever you had is gonna disappear, or…
- 1:21:41Phil: because Peter was basically starting from nothing. So maybe let's split that up a little bit better, because if you had… you had 3 that you were going to take, then…
- 1:21:51Lee Woods: Yeah, you take 3, Lex, and then I'll take 2, so I'll be at a 5.
- 1:21:56Peter Eggleston Connor: Sure.
- 1:21:57Phil: Gotcha, so then you'll…
- 1:21:58Peter Eggleston Connor: It's not gonna matter in a few hours.
- 1:22:00Phil: Right? That's kind of it, where, yeah, so, so, I mean, you'll just… you'll be able to… we'll… we'll figure… we'll figure out what feels right for if there's a moment in the battle that you… you each need to overcharge. You'll be able to have, like, a pretty cool overcharge of some sort,
- 1:22:16Phil: Peter might be able to squeeze two out of it, because he gets… he gets one per day, so the… his fresh one in the morning. Unless you end up picking that ability, too, then you can.
- 1:22:23Peter Eggleston Connor: Well, I mean, like, the other thing about it is I might be able to do a…
- 1:22:28Peter Eggleston Connor: Pawn shop in the middle of that.
- 1:22:30Phil: In…
- 1:22:31Peter Eggleston Connor: 2.
- 1:22:32Phil: Right? Right? Where are those words?
- 1:22:33Peter Eggleston Connor: Pawn shop.
- 1:22:34Phil: A really, a real, real core tear-jerking memory there. Alright, so with that, the…
- 1:22:44Phil: Dawn's light is fast approaching, I don't know if…
- 1:22:51Phil: I don't think… I don't think having… it's one of those things where I'm like, I don't want to penalize you guys for not sleeping. That's just rude.
- 1:23:00Lee Woods: Have we since then?
- 1:23:01Phil: It's… I'm not worried about it. You know, it's one of those things where we'll… we rest between sessions, you know?
- 1:23:08Peter Eggleston Connor: Since I have 3…
- 1:23:09Tad Eggleston: I sung them a lullaby, didn't that mean they.
- 1:23:14Phil: I like to think that…
- 1:23:15Tad Eggleston: That's why I chose a lullapy.
- 1:23:18Phil: Right? It… we use… we use… so this is, like, in Minecraft, if you stay up until right before dawn, and then, like, you jump into bed, and then it's, like, you only… you only sleep in game for 2 hours, but it still counts, you know? It's kind of like that.
- 1:23:30Phil: One of those, one of those in-game logics that, that only work.
- 1:23:34Phil: But never will.
- 1:23:36Peter Eggleston Connor: Right before dawn, I'm gonna use my… my 3 fare gold to make sure that all my…
- 1:23:43Peter Eggleston Connor: Items are at full charge.
- 1:23:45Phil: Gotcha, okay, so you're… you're gonna be… you're gonna be at full charge, and then… yeah, so I'll make a note of that right now, to be like, hey, each have a full charge.
- 1:23:56Phil: And then Peter at least plus 1.
- 1:24:03Phil: And… One, okay.
- 1:24:10Phil: Alright, but, you know, as the fair gold is disappearing, that is when the, the horns of war, you know, the battle charge, starts emitting from, you know, the camp, as you see a, platoon of,
- 1:24:29Phil: of the Burning Crusade marching to the field to, commence a battle that we will… we will get started with next time!
- 1:24:38Phil: Thank you guys for, for showing up. Thanks, I hope you guys had fun. That was, you know, I felt like we got, we got a lot done there. We, you know, a lot of jokes.
- 1:24:48Phil: Some… some little… some rolls, some… some murder, you know?
- 1:24:52Lee Woods: That's fine.
- 1:24:53Lee Woods: The Murdo Bowman?
- 1:24:54Phil: Yeah, well, it's, it's my, my, gosh, my, my friend that, back when I worked at Trader Joe's, we had a, we did a story D&D group, he's like, I don't want no, no sissy role-playing. We're here to, to roll dice and kill shit, you know? And, in hindsight, I'm like, well, I kind of like a little bit of the role-playing, but, you know, that's just me. But,
- 1:25:14Peter Eggleston Connor: Good session.
- 1:25:15Phil: Thank you.
- 1:25:16Lee Woods: Thank you for putting up with my questions, because it's been a minute.
- 1:25:18Phil: Oh, yeah, no, no, no, and I apologize for it being a minute. Hopefully, hopefully now, you know, two months in a row, two months in a row, back-to-back, you know, we, we've, we've got DIE ROLIN,
- 1:25:31Phil: And with that, this is… this is…
- 1:25:33Phil: Tad, please, please, I come back to you with, with 22 Panels jersey, as I transform back from.
- 1:25:40Tad Eggleston: Are we not doing Stars and Wishes before passing it back to me?
- 1:25:45Phil: We could do Stars and Wishes, it was just…
- 1:25:48Phil: Did you have a star or a wish?
- 1:25:51Tad Eggleston: I liked Peter deciding that the fool shouldn't go along because he's foolish.
- 1:25:57Tad Eggleston: I think that was smart.
- 1:26:00Phil: That could've… that could have gone… that went from a very tight, controlled scenario, that could have gone very sideways, yes.
- 1:26:07Peter Eggleston Connor: Yeah, no, I was just like, well, you just told me you don't wanna even try, so… bye!
- 1:26:18Tad Eggleston: I think that was a perfectly appropriate response.
- 1:26:21Lee Woods: Right.
- 1:26:22Tad Eggleston: And I just stayed back at camp singing my songs, so, I mean, you might consider that I could have a bunch…
- 1:26:29Tad Eggleston: of… of…
- 1:26:31Phil: Okay, that's… that's a really good.
- 1:26:32Tad Eggleston: Of…
- 1:26:33Phil: Actually.
- 1:26:33Tad Eggleston: Of, fallen around me by the time they get back.
- 1:26:37Phil: Well, I was thinking… I was thinking, less of that, because if you were… if you were truly at the camp, because before you were on the fringes when you started singing, if you went into the fair, you would… you would be, boosting the morale of the Knights of Bonamontopoeia, so they might perform…
- 1:26:51Tad Eggleston: Possible.
- 1:26:52Phil: Well, you know, a classic, a barred song. So we'll maybe… I'll make a note for that to,
- 1:26:58Phil: roll for Bart Buffs.
- 1:26:59Phil: So yeah.
- 1:27:02Lee Woods: And I'll say, two stars, for both Tad and Phil. Just well done on the, the TV show interview.
- 1:27:11Lee Woods: with all the parents. That was pretty dope.
- 1:27:15Phil: I really liked your responses to those, Tad, so thank you for that. That's definitely a star for me, too.
- 1:27:22Tad Eggleston: Well, you know, I try.
- 1:27:23Tad Eggleston: Sometimes I succeed.
- 1:27:27Phil: Tis the nature of, of, roleplaying.
- 1:27:33Tad Eggleston: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:27:35Phil: All right. And with that, I beg you, please, to, you know, don't let 22 Panels go now. Spencer Ackerman has a creator-owned comic book series coming up, and if I don't…
- 1:27:48Tad Eggleston: Well, and I got Derf Bechturf this week, and…
- 1:27:51Phil: Derf, heck yeah. I did see that.
- 1:27:53Tad Eggleston: You know, yeah, there's cool stuff coming up, I shouldn't quit now.
- 1:27:59Tad Eggleston: My back's feeling a little bit better as the steroids kick in.
- 1:28:04Phil: I was gonna say.
- 1:28:05Tad Eggleston: You know.
- 1:28:06Phil: Your back hurts from, you know, carrying almost a thousand podcast episodes, not quite single-handedly, but… but close to it.
- 1:28:15Tad Eggleston: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:28:16Tad Eggleston: And, and again, like, this, this week is… is looking good. We got… we got some…
- 1:28:23Tad Eggleston: milestone tomorrow night, we got Steph and Frank on Tuesday, we got Derf on… Thursday… Yeah.
- 1:28:36Phil: is holding…
- 1:28:37Tad Eggleston: Insert name, Zine Fest next weekend, if…
- 1:28:40Phil: Nice.
- 1:28:41Tad Eggleston: if my back can… can handle the trip.
- 1:28:45Tad Eggleston: So… That's in…
- 1:28:47Phil: Minneapolis, right?
- 1:28:48Tad Eggleston: That is, so… so yeah, I guess I won't give up yet.
- 1:28:53Tad Eggleston: Alright. Won't give up yet. I'll stick with it for now.
- 1:28:56Phil: I don't know what I would do if you, if you, if you ever say no there.
- 1:29:01Peter Eggleston Connor: We're still there, but… Let's stick with it.
- 1:29:03Tad Eggleston: for now.
- 1:29:03Peter Eggleston Connor: I can't help myself. I gotta… I gotta ask about these, like, little drawings on the wall behind you.
- 1:29:09Phil: Oh, behind me? So those are, they're just, like, a series of, like, postcards that my wife found at a,
- 1:29:18Phil: Just at, like, a, antique or, like,
- 1:29:24Phil: I always call them antique, but, like, kind of flea market things. I forget which one, but, yeah, she just found a bunch that looked really neat, and it's a pattern on the wall back.
- 1:29:32Peter Eggleston Connor: I do, and I really like how you have them checkerboarded across the wall, so…
- 1:29:37Phil: That was her… well, it was her design, but my execution, because she's not tall enough to… they actually do go, like, pretty much all the way up the wall there.
- 1:29:44Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, nice.
- 1:29:45Phil: It's just that one, though, so yeah, and then there's the tiny mushroom hanging in the corner.
- 1:29:48Peter Eggleston Connor: Very cool, very cool.
- 1:29:49Phil: Thank you. Ew.
- 1:29:50Phil: She makes the place really, really feel, very artsy and homely, so…
- 1:29:56Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, that's awesome. I'm so glad to have that in the apartment.
- 1:30:00Phil: It's… it's a good feeling, because I… if it was just me, I would not make it look this cute by even.
- 1:30:04Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh my god, I mean, like, we have a… I have these maps here, and, like, this is, like, this is literally what I've put up so far in my room. I guess there's, like, a couple Funko Pops on a book… on the top of a bookshelf over there right now, and…
- 1:30:18Phil: Right.
- 1:30:18Peter Eggleston Connor: And yeah, there's these succulents, which are gonna go somewhere. There you go!
- 1:30:22Phil: I see.
- 1:30:23Peter Eggleston Connor: There you go, Lee.
- 1:30:23Phil: Action… action figures on top of a bookcase. That is… that is, it's funny, because my bookcase on top of that has a couple of, LEGO… there's a LEGO maple tree and a LEGO bamboo, so I also enjoy the plant Legos, they're cool.
- 1:30:36Peter Eggleston Connor: trying to get a little bit more, like, you know, pop to my apartment, so it's not all just, like, walls and a TV.
- 1:30:44Phil: It's tough. It's really tough.
- 1:30:46Peter Eggleston Connor: It's energy…
- 1:30:48Phil: Yeah.
- 1:30:49Lee Woods: It's effort, yeah.
- 1:30:50Lee Woods: It's energy, good way. I literally wrote down, like, my to-do list to get things for the, like, the apartment, and one of the things I literally put up was, nails command strips for art decor. Nice. It's probably gonna be the last thing I get.
- 1:31:03Tad Eggleston: So, are you already down in Joliet now?
- 1:31:08Lee Woods: Yep, this is the new apartment.
- 1:31:10Tad Eggleston: So you're making the crazy drive now.
- 1:31:13Lee Woods: I… I always was, it just… now it's just a drive in the opposite direction.
- 1:31:18Phil: bounce.
- 1:31:18Tad Eggleston: What do you mean you always were? Your other apartment wasn't that far from Palatine, and… Modern age.
- 1:31:25Lee Woods: it was better, but I was still driving, especially with the… going to the hospitals, and then.
- 1:31:33Tad Eggleston: Okay.
- 1:31:35Lee Woods: So now it's just… I try to put myself in a spot where I'm equidistant from everything.
- 1:31:40Tad Eggleston: Gotcha.
- 1:31:40Lee Woods: So, thankfully I am, but it is still 40 minutes to an hour, wherever I'm going.
- 1:31:45Tad Eggleston: Right.
- 1:31:46Phil: That's how… that's how Chicagoland was, if it wasn't, like, the same suburb. It pretty much is. Yeah.
- 1:31:51Phil: Go ahead.
- 1:31:51Tad Eggleston: Pretty much is.
- 1:31:53Phil: whenever… all… whenever I was driving to work, it would be at least 45 minutes to get there, any time of day, so…
- 1:31:59Peter Eggleston Connor: Oh, for sure.
- 1:32:01Phil: Yep.
- 1:32:02Phil: Yep.
