- 0:00your dreams are dreaming you back okay I want you to sit with these words often we think of this
- 0:05in the sense that the actual dream in the universe is dreaming of us but I want to bring this
- 0:10from the individualistic space into the collective space where dreams originally were
- 0:15for our ancestors as a species we've been dreaming together we've been visioning together
- 0:20that is in our bodies it's in our DNA it's in our ancestral understandings and wisdom
- 0:26that we are here to collectively bring forth realities that don't currently exist right and
- 0:31also to just vision and dream together in this world we frequently are made to dream and made
- 0:37to understand dreams in a very individualistic way so it's about the self actualization self
- 0:44realization the self living up to its fullest potential why is this the case because they know
- 0:50that the world can only change through vision right you can't change the world unless you have
- 0:56some sort of imaginative vision of how the world could be otherwise and that's a deeply powerful
- 1:01and also spiritual space that the colonial consciousness has weaponized for its own ends
- 1:07and has reduced in its power and its scope from the broad and powerful space of the collective dream
- 1:13space into this more limited and also destructive space of the individualistic paradigm so now you are
- 1:19taught to conceive of dreams in this very individualistic way so when you think of your dreams
- 1:24dreaming you back what I mean by this is really that if you dream of writing there is someone who
- 1:29dreams of reading you if you dream of singing there's someone who dreams of listening to you
- 1:35if you dream of being seen there are people who dream of seeing and being seen through you
- 1:41so our dreams in the collectivist realm are dreaming us back if you dream of teaching
- 1:47there are students who are dreaming of being taught by you so that is how we then conceive of
- 1:53our dreams as this kind of vessel into how we are meant to be existing within the collective
- 1:59consciousness and to serve the collective well-being so I'll give you an example for myself
- 2:04I love and I dream of pouring my love into my podcast I could conceive of this in a very
- 2:10individual way and be like you know I think it is my purpose to have a podcast and I want to
- 2:15win awards and I want to be on the ranking list and the ego can just run away with the dream
- 2:20or I could say wow you know I really feel cold too I really desire I really dream of having a
- 2:25podcast and what this may be an invitation into understanding is also that there are people who dream
- 2:31of being seen by the words that I have to speak there are guests who dream of being interviewed in
- 2:36the way that I want to interview so let's say some of the author out there maybe she's South African
- 2:41she wrote a book she is looking for an audience for her book if I develop my podcast I can build
- 2:47the kind of platform that will be supportive to her so therefore a collectivist dream has been
- 2:52realized because in me living my purpose I can therefore create a space for someone else to live
- 2:58this and if me living my purpose is to be heard then in my voice being heard someone can feel like
- 3:05truly this resonance with me that activates them on their journey so the question I would ask you
- 3:10to ask yourself is if I become my fullest expression if I honor this dream who might be dreaming me
- 3:16back because we often think of this in a very one-sided way we are like wrestling with like why
- 3:22isn't this working and we go through this process of desire but we don't often really allow
- 3:27ourselves to really think who is desiring us we've all felt that feeling in the bookstore whatever
- 3:31way we're like wow I wish there were more stories that resonated with me when we're watching TV
- 3:36shows I don't feel like seen by the show I wish there was a show that spoke to me so in that
- 3:41expression of this you know of discontent it's like I'm dreaming of the kind of creator who's
- 3:47going to create insecure who's gonna create something that deeply speaks to my identity so that's
- 3:53what I mean we are all audiences and we are creators so we are all people who are opening ourselves
- 3:59up to consume and to receive the art of other people which means that we are dreaming of the kind
- 4:05of art that speaks to us and so as artists we need to be able to understand both of these things
- 4:10that there are people who dream of our art they dream of being seen by our words or felt by our
- 4:16sound or listened to by our creation whatever it is they want to be received by us and so I wonder if
- 4:24you become your fullest expansion who will expand through you in what way is the collective dreaming
- 4:30through you rather than you just dreaming for yourself think about it if you really think about it
- 4:35you can understand that your favorite singer your favorite they've changed you even if you didn't
- 4:40know to really crave a director or an artist or a writer or a teacher exactly as you had
- 4:47now that you've experienced them they were what you needed so on some subconscious level it's almost
- 4:52as though you were dreaming of their kind of music their kind of art so for example you're looking
- 4:58for a song you finally find the song that resonates with you so in a sense their devotion to seeing
- 5:04that dream through allowed you to realize your dream of being seen through their music that's
- 5:08what I mean so when we take this approach I think it also shifts the way we relate to our dreams
- 5:13rather than the pressure and the self obsession and the self actualization and this focus on how we
- 5:20can become our best selves we start to say whoa okay what if I'm meant to be doing this what if I
- 5:25feel cold to be doing this because other people are trying to express themselves and their desires
- 5:30through my desire it takes off the pressure because those people aren't seeking perfection they're
- 5:35not seeking it to be a certain way they're just seeking something that speaks to them so then
- 5:39all I need to do is resonate on the frequency natural to me honor this calling and see it through
- 5:45and understand that I'm going to magnetize the kind of person and the kind of communities and
- 5:51people and listeners who are seeking me and that is one of the beauties of the digital age is it's
- 5:56like a portal and I know it has so many problems there's so many isms there's all of these hierarchies
- 6:01that exist in who can reach an audience and so on and I don't want to undermine that whatsoever
- 6:05downplay that at all but what I do mean is in this world it's just much easier for our voices to
- 6:11pierce through and find potential listeners and potential readers and potential resonators like people
- 6:18who will resonate with us so I want to leave you with the question of if you are dreaming of something
- 6:23who might be dreaming you back who is sitting in their bedroom crying or hoping or dancing they don't
- 6:29have to be in despair they could be enjoyed but who is seeking to be seen through you because then
- 6:35it becomes this thing where you are just a representative of the frequency that is natural to you already
- 6:41of the calling that is natural to you already of the energy that is natural to you already so
- 6:45again if you seek to write poetry there are readers seeking to read your poems and be felt
- 6:50and seen and feel themselves through your poems we've read poems I've read poems that shifted my
- 6:56entire relationship to reality what if that poet hadn't written the poem so I was dreaming of them
- 7:01not in this conscious way that the Western mind wants to kind of think is the only form of dreaming
- 7:06where it's like I dreamed of this and then it happened rather than this more subconscious and subtle
- 7:11sense this vibrational sense of oh I was calling this in and then now this poem even unknowingly
- 7:18now this poem is speaking to that calling I was yearning for something I didn't even know I was
- 7:22yearning for now that I've received and felt and been replenished by these words I can feel that
- 7:28this is what I was seeking all along but it's not the active kind of seeking do you know what I mean
- 7:33so it's just as if you're manifesting a partner there's someone who's manifesting you as a
- 7:37partner as well so allow yourself to see the other side allow yourself to not only be part of the
- 7:43yearning but also of the yearning for not only part of the desiring but also that someone is
- 7:48desiring you use your imagination and just conceive of the fact that there are people who actually
- 7:54rarely want you and are counting on you in a sense to become your fullest you because your dream
- 8:01unlock this okay what you seek is seeking you what you desire is desiring you what you are dreaming
- 8:08is dreaming you and you can use your collective consciousness to really tap into that energy because
- 8:15if this is appealing to you if this is interesting to you if this is just pulling you I'm telling you
- 8:20my love there are many other people who feel that same pull and you are actually looking to be
- 8:25led by you in this way and led in the beautiful spiritual sense that we are all seeking sometimes
- 8:30to just surrender to someone's consciousness or their art form or their perspective that feeling
- 8:35of woe okay I found the resonance and now I'm ready to sit back and receive I'm ready to be in the
- 8:41world that this artist created that this director created that this writer created because I'm already
- 8:47feeling that sense of resonance and trust so I'm ready to surrender who wants to surrender to you
- 8:52in the most beautiful way in the western mind again surrender is seen as submission which is
- 8:56seen as negative power and dominance are seen as good things and so control is seen as a good
- 9:00thing and so this idea of surrender can feel uncomfortable in a consciousness shaped in many ways
- 9:05by coloniality and by the western way of thinking but really surrender is a beautiful process
- 9:12so long as it's of course this voluntary process that we are undergoing in service of our own
- 9:18deepest consciousness in service of love in service of each other and in service of the collective
