- The Jays sneak one out! This is The Sports Reset for Saturday August 8th In MLB, The Jays edged the Philadelphia Phillies 5 to 4, a tight road win that stands out because Toronto came in needing offence and had Vladimir Guerrero Jr. as its average leader, while Philadelphia’s power profile still ran through Kyle Schwarber. That makes a one-run win in Citizens Bank Park a useful reset for the Jays, especially against a Phillies team carrying top-five home-run pop. The New York Yankees also clipped the Atlanta Braves 3 to 2, while the Arizona Diamondbacks held off the Los Angeles Dodgers 4 to 3 in another one-run game out west. In the CFL, the Saskatchewan Roughriders beat the Ottawa Redblacks 42 to 20 at Mosaic Stadium, turning a matchup that had been tight earlier this season into a much more comfortable home result. The Boston Red Sox added the loudest baseball score of the night, rolling past the Athletics 13 to 1 at Fenway Park. Looking ahead, In MLB, The Jays and Philadelphia Phillies run it back today at Citizens Bank Park, and the same contrast is still the point: Toronto has been trying to squeeze out runs, while Philadelphia’s lineup has enough power to flip a game quickly. The Atlanta Braves visit the New York Yankees again, and the Los Angeles Dodgers get another crack at the Arizona Diamondbacks after last night’s one-run loss. In the CFL, the Montreal Alouettes host the Edmonton Elks with Montreal sitting first in the East, and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats visit the BC Lions at BC Place. In golf, the Wyndham Championship continues with Beau Hossler at 12 under, one shot ahead of Jordan Smith and Ben James, and that event matters because it is the PGA Tour’s regular-season finale before the FedEx Cup playoffs. In WTA tennis, Carol Young Suh Lee faces Gabriela Knutson in the Warsaw T-Mobile Polish Open final.
