- 2:47Speaker 3: Welcome to the show.
- 2:49Speaker 6: Good morning, fun and busy.
- 2:52Speaker 3: All right, Angie, Angie, Angie. I don't know where you are,
- 2:55Speaker 3: but we need a better cell phone signal. Goshru All right,
- 3:02Speaker 3: hold on here, that's a little bit better. Just stand
- 3:05Speaker 3: still wherever you are, okay, perfect, all right? Where are you?
- 3:08Speaker 3: By the way, that now it's none of my bun.
- 3:11Speaker 4: I don't know where you are.
- 3:12Speaker 3: I know you're getting ready for just okay, well, I
- 3:14Speaker 3: know you're getting ready for Tuxes and Tails. That's probably
- 3:17Speaker 3: what I figured that you were doing, right, Oh, absolutely,
- 3:22Speaker 3: talk about your detail?
- 3:23Speaker 6: Are so? Tuxes and Tails is tomorrow six pm at
- 3:27Speaker 6: the Russner. We're super excited for the new location at
- 3:30Speaker 6: the Roustner and it is completely sold out, which is
- 3:33Speaker 6: super exciting.
- 3:35Speaker 3: And when you say sold out, I mean, how how
- 3:36Speaker 3: much does it take to sell this thing out? I
- 3:38Speaker 3: mean give me a give me a body count approximately,
- 3:42Speaker 3: So thanks.
- 3:42Speaker 6: The capacity for the Rustler is about one hundred hundred
- 3:46Speaker 6: and fifty people, so we're somewhere in that seat spot.
- 3:48Speaker 3: All right. That's good stuff to hear right there, And
- 3:50Speaker 3: of course all the money raised will benefit to the shelter.
- 3:53Speaker 3: Is there a waiting list or anything like that? If
- 3:55Speaker 3: people would like to, you know, give you a call
- 3:57Speaker 3: on some sayings and somebody can't make it, I'd like
- 3:59Speaker 3: to be there or they just as I'll clean it
- 4:01Speaker 3: up a little bit, are they just sol Yeah?
- 4:05Speaker 6: Kind of that. We do need some volunteers for you know,
- 4:09Speaker 6: taking down tuxes and tails once it's over with. If
- 4:12Speaker 6: you're interested in just seeing, you know what it would
- 4:14Speaker 6: look like. But that is about all we have left.
- 4:17Speaker 3: Okay, all right, so you already need of volunteers. We
- 4:21Speaker 3: had a text here somebody wanted to know if you
- 4:24Speaker 3: guys are gonna have shelter dogs and cats out at
- 4:26Speaker 3: the grand opening of the Fun Factory tomorrow, And I
- 4:29Speaker 3: was going to talk about the fun factor a little
- 4:31Speaker 3: bit later on. That's the former Kidderouse and they're having
- 4:33Speaker 3: a big grand opening celebration tomorrow. Our stations are going
- 4:35Speaker 3: to be there broadcasting live all day tomorrow. We'd actually
- 4:39Speaker 3: scheduled to have them on the show this morning, but
- 4:41Speaker 3: much like you, Angie, they've got so much going on.
- 4:43Speaker 3: They gave us a call yesterday and said, we're not
- 4:45Speaker 3: gonna be able to make the live interview. Just tell
- 4:48Speaker 3: people about it. It's going on all day. I would
- 4:51Speaker 3: imagine that'd be kind of difficult though, for you to
- 4:53Speaker 3: have animals out there plus pull off tuxes and tails
- 4:55Speaker 3: tomorrow night.
- 4:56Speaker 6: Right correct, I'm going to be virtually unreachable tomorrow for
- 5:01Speaker 6: Texas two.
- 5:02Speaker 3: I'm just glad we got you today, but you guys
- 5:04Speaker 3: will be out of about. That's a good idea by
- 5:06Speaker 3: the texture, but you just not on the night of
- 5:07Speaker 3: tuxas and tails not happening. But you guys will be
- 5:11Speaker 3: out at about all summer long and various activities in
- 5:13Speaker 3: Charleston and the surrounding area. So we'll be sure and
- 5:16Speaker 3: let people know. We'll get back to tuxes and tails
- 5:18Speaker 3: in a moment. Let's get to our adopt me please.
- 5:20Speaker 3: Put of the week is always picture posted Dave Allen
- 5:22Speaker 3: Radio and Facebook, and that Dave a seventy on X
- 5:25Speaker 3: interesting name. Cloud Strife is the is the and it's
- 5:30Speaker 3: a cat. It's a kiddy cat. Uh where does every week?
- 5:34Speaker 3: Ryan has to educate me on some of these names.
- 5:36Speaker 3: And he's putting the headphones on right now, so he'll
- 5:39Speaker 3: probably be able to tell me what cloud Strife is.
- 5:41Speaker 3: We'll get to that in a moment, but tell us
- 5:42Speaker 3: about cloud Strife.
- 5:44Speaker 6: So cloud Strife, once you see him, you'll see that
- 5:47Speaker 6: that's the perfect name for him. The poor guy came
- 5:50Speaker 6: in to our shelter with trauma to his back leg.
- 5:53Speaker 6: We're thinking that it was possibly hit by car, much
- 5:56Speaker 6: like Webkin from last week, but the trauma to Cloudstrive's
- 6:01Speaker 6: flag was so bad we did have to amputate it. Hey,
- 6:05Speaker 6: he he doesn't seem too upset by that. He's very
- 6:07Speaker 6: forgiving about everything that's happened to him thus far. He's
- 6:11Speaker 6: a very sweet boy that loves, you know, head scratches,
- 6:14Speaker 6: all the things that cat loves. And he's still so young.
- 6:18Speaker 6: He's only seven months old, so to have all of
- 6:20Speaker 6: that happen to him in such a short amount of
- 6:23Speaker 6: time in his life as devastating. But like I said,
- 6:26Speaker 6: he's pretty forgiving about.
- 6:28Speaker 3: It, all right, Ryan, you can expect to me what
- 6:30Speaker 3: Cloudstrife is. Cloudstrife is the name of the main protagonist
- 6:34Speaker 3: from the video game Final Fantasy seven. His hobbies include
- 6:38Speaker 3: snowboarding and writing chocobos.
- 6:40Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 6:42Speaker 3: That's see. He's not just a handsome young fellow. He's practical.
- 6:46Speaker 3: He's good to have around two. So I learned something
- 6:50Speaker 3: every week when I when I talk to you people
- 6:52Speaker 3: that are much younger than I am.
- 6:53Speaker 4: How's that.
- 6:56Speaker 3: All right? Cloud Strife is the animal's name. Again. He
- 6:59Speaker 3: had his back leg amputated after being hit by a car.
- 7:01Speaker 3: Doesn't slow him down one bit. Seven months old, neutered,
- 7:05Speaker 3: and all his vaccines of to day that would make
- 7:06Speaker 3: an absolutely beautiful pet for somebody, would it not.
- 7:09Speaker 6: Absolutely? He And when I walked in and saw him
- 7:12Speaker 6: and his kennel, I literally went, oh, my gosh, he
- 7:15Speaker 6: is a cute. So yeah, he is a very very
- 7:19Speaker 6: cute boy and very sweet boy.
- 7:21Speaker 3: All right, So I'm going to get to some numbers
- 7:23Speaker 3: here for a moment. I know there was a big
- 7:25Speaker 3: front page story in the Gazette Mail yesterday about some
- 7:27Speaker 3: of the issues going on at the shelter far as
- 7:30Speaker 3: numbers go. I know, a couple of the TV stations
- 7:32Speaker 3: I think did stories. You've been hitting the media hard,
- 7:33Speaker 3: which you should. You're at a critical critical point right now.
- 7:39Speaker 3: As far as the critters that you have at the shelter, right.
- 7:43Speaker 6: Absolutely, which I know it's kind of like a broken
- 7:45Speaker 6: record at this point us saying we're full, we're for warful.
- 7:48Speaker 6: But yesterday when we left, I looked at the numbers
- 7:50Speaker 6: and we have literally four hundred and seventy some animals
- 7:54Speaker 6: in our care, which is the highest I've seen that number.
- 7:58Speaker 3: So I mean, obviously we want to do some things
- 8:00Speaker 3: to try to get some of these animals adopted. I
- 8:03Speaker 3: know you're doing all kinds of things as far as
- 8:05Speaker 3: you know, as you says, I said, you've been really
- 8:06Speaker 3: hitting the media doing radio, television interviews, newspaper interviews and whatnot.
- 8:11Speaker 3: But the bottom line is, now, if you're airing the
- 8:14Speaker 3: market for a PET, I mean you know, it's almost
- 8:16Speaker 3: like it's almost like with a car deal, you know,
- 8:18Speaker 3: car deal, and you're like make them an offer right now, right, absolutely.
- 8:22Speaker 6: So we do have a special going on from May
- 8:24Speaker 6: first to May fifteenth where everybody in our building is
- 8:28Speaker 6: just twenty dollars to adopt and that's thanks to Bisintal
- 8:31Speaker 6: Pet Foundations empty the Shelter National Adoption Event. So twenty
- 8:35Speaker 6: dollars fees. So come on in here.
- 8:38Speaker 3: Get in here and dyvidave valence showing five anyone brought
- 8:41Speaker 3: to you apart by snap Fitness, offering a wide array
- 8:43Speaker 3: of professional wellness services including customized personal training, licensed recovery experts,
- 8:48Speaker 3: and staff of dietitians, five convenient locations to Charleston, Hurricane, Winfield, Barbersville,
- 8:52Speaker 3: and Milton. Visitsnapfitness dot com if you need more information
- 8:56Speaker 3: about that. Any big intakes this week. I know last
- 8:59Speaker 3: week you told us this story about the gentleman that
- 9:01Speaker 3: was on a construction site and found a palette full
- 9:03Speaker 3: of kiddies. Uh so in any big, any big hauls
- 9:07Speaker 3: this week.
- 9:09Speaker 6: So we did receive six sogs and one cat from
- 9:13Speaker 6: a gentleman who had passed away, who was well loved
- 9:15Speaker 6: in the community. We received his pets for waiting on
- 9:18Speaker 6: family to come up and you know, reclaim if they can.
- 9:21Speaker 6: If not, we will be those guys will be made
- 9:24Speaker 6: available for an option. But other than that, it's just
- 9:27Speaker 6: been you know, our humane officers bringing things in, members
- 9:30Speaker 6: of the public bringing in injured animals one by one,
- 9:33Speaker 6: but one by one adds up.
- 9:35Speaker 3: When it happens a lot, one by one becomes five
- 9:38Speaker 3: by five before before you know what hits you right,
- 9:41Speaker 3: all right, We had a couple of texts here. One
- 9:44Speaker 3: said this person was asking about getting you guys out
- 9:46Speaker 3: in the community. They just wanted to suggest to you
- 9:48Speaker 3: maybe next week, once you've recovered from Texas and tail
- 9:51Speaker 3: Texas nails, the community yard sales are going to be
- 9:54Speaker 3: going on East End yard Sale, Dunbar, Nitro, etcetera, all
- 9:57Speaker 3: those communities, so maybe you can hit up one of
- 9:59Speaker 3: those all So they asked, would it be possible for
- 10:01Speaker 3: Knawk County to donate one of those portable classrooms like
- 10:05Speaker 3: they had used at Hoover. You know, it's just an idea.
- 10:11Speaker 6: Yeah, absolutely, and listen, we are completely open to ideas.
- 10:15Speaker 6: So I will run that up the ladder where it
- 10:17Speaker 6: needs to go and see if that's a possibility. And
- 10:20Speaker 6: as far as you know, offsite events where I can
- 10:23Speaker 6: just show up and bring some puppies. If you want
- 10:25Speaker 6: to email me Angie at atf Charleston dot com you
- 10:28Speaker 6: want me there, I will be.
- 10:29Speaker 3: There, but don't expect an answer until at least next
- 10:33Speaker 3: Monday or Tuesday.
- 10:33Speaker 6: Right, correct, Right, Well he's not at the end of tomorrow.
- 10:38Speaker 3: All right, Well we'll give you on Monday or Tuesday.
- 10:40Speaker 3: How's that?
- 10:40Speaker 7: All right?
- 10:41Speaker 3: Let's talk quickly about Texas and Tales again. The event
- 10:43Speaker 3: is tomorrow night, big Dirty Derby theme. It is completely
- 10:47Speaker 3: sold out. But you said at the beginning of the
- 10:49Speaker 3: ind of you, Angie, that you could use some volunteers.
- 10:52Speaker 3: So if people would like to come and just help
- 10:54Speaker 3: with the whole thing, the shelter folks would love it.
- 10:57Speaker 3: Best way to get a hold of you, Angie.
- 10:59Speaker 6: So you're gonna want to contact our volunteer coordinator, which
- 11:03Speaker 6: is his name is Sess he's great and his email
- 11:06Speaker 6: is s m U L L I M S at
- 11:09Speaker 6: Adult Charleston dot com.
- 11:10Speaker 3: All right, Angie, will let you go, and I'm interested
- 11:13Speaker 3: to find out and see how things go tomorrow night.
- 11:16Speaker 3: So we'll talk to you again next week. Best of
- 11:18Speaker 3: luck with everything tomorrow.
- 11:19Speaker 4: Thanks a lot, thank you.
- 11:21Speaker 6: I have a good one you as.
- 11:22Speaker 3: Well, Angie Gillawater from the Cannaal Charleston, you main association
- 11:24Speaker 3: with this week's Adopt Me Please Pedal the Week course.
- 11:27Speaker 3: I wanted to spend a little bit more time talking
- 11:28Speaker 3: about their their signature event, their big event tomorrow night
- 11:31Speaker 3: at the Roughner. It is tuxes and tales completely sold out.
- 11:35Speaker 3: That is good news, but they do need volunteers to
- 11:39Speaker 3: contact the folks at the shelters. You'd like to help
- 11:40Speaker 3: with anything, They certainly could use you as for our
- 11:43Speaker 3: Adopt Me Please Pet of the Week picture posted Dave
- 11:46Speaker 3: aland Radio on Facebook and at dave A seventy on
- 11:48Speaker 3: X cloud strife thanks to Ryan Nicholson. We now know
- 11:51Speaker 3: what cloud strife is. Maybe everybody in the world knew
- 11:54Speaker 3: it except for me, but cloud strife is our kittens
- 11:59Speaker 3: name this week. Calling mckitton seven months old. He is
- 12:02Speaker 3: neutered and all the vaccines are up to date. He's
- 12:05Speaker 3: a three legged critter because he was hit by a car,
- 12:10Speaker 3: so he had to have one of his back legs amputated.
- 12:12Speaker 3: He is an absolutely beautiful white cat. If you like
- 12:16Speaker 3: the white cats, if you like a cat with good stories,
- 12:18Speaker 3: and you want to be a good human being, go
- 12:20Speaker 3: adopt this cat. Contact the folks at the shelter and
- 12:23Speaker 3: again I've got pictures posted Dave Allen Radio on Facebook

- 15:48Speaker 3: Right, and but we can't fingers crossed on the weather, right,

- 15:55Speaker 11: Opening day in the thing, you know, in all seriousness,
- 15:56Speaker 11: we have artificial turf. I mean that's such a massive

- 16:03Speaker 11: unless it is pouring at the exact wrong time, which
- 16:06Speaker 11: I'm not saying, you know, it's could happen. But last
- 16:10Speaker 11: year we had zero rainouts.
- 16:11Speaker 4: I mean it's amazing.
- 16:12Speaker 11: We certainly had delays and all that stuff, but we
- 16:14Speaker 11: had zero rainouts last year. So I mean, heck, in
- 16:18Speaker 11: the championship game was ridiculous really, but I mean we
- 16:20Speaker 11: kept playing, like, you know, we can talk about that
- 16:25Speaker 11: another day, you know, if we wanted to. But like anyways,
- 16:28Speaker 11: I mean, it really is a game changer, and it
- 16:30Speaker 11: just makes it a completely different, you know situation.
- 16:33Speaker 3: Really, jailm said that microphone over to you there, just lett.
- 16:37Speaker 3: It's one of the great things about our studio is
- 16:39Speaker 3: you don't hear when you moved the microphones on the
- 16:41Speaker 3: new one anyway, So a lot of work you and
- 16:45Speaker 3: not talk you know, constantly throughout the off season, and
- 16:49Speaker 3: it all comes down to this.
- 16:50Speaker 7: It is. It's it's very much so what we work towards.
- 16:53Speaker 7: Basically as soon as season ends up until right now,
- 16:56Speaker 7: we are working towards making this a really really fun
- 16:59Speaker 7: experience with the fans. That's what Andy and I are
- 17:01Speaker 7: working on. The entire front office staff is working on,
- 17:04Speaker 7: and of course PJ. Phillis and sip of Garza who
- 17:06Speaker 7: are coaching staff here today, they are working on building
- 17:08Speaker 7: the team to have another championship season.
- 17:10Speaker 3: All right, PJ, welcome back, man, it's that time again, right.
- 17:13Speaker 4: I'm very excited to be here.
- 17:14Speaker 2: Man.
- 17:14Speaker 3: I appreciates Yeah, uh and uh, I mean you've been
- 17:17Speaker 3: You've been around baseball for a long time. Not that
- 17:20Speaker 3: you're old. I'm just saying you've been around. You've been
- 17:22Speaker 3: around baseball for a long time. There's nothing like opening Day.
- 17:25Speaker 3: Even as a fan, there's nothing like Opening Day. But
- 17:28Speaker 3: I mean especially as a player now as a coach,
- 17:31Speaker 3: as manager, and nothing like it. Buddy.
- 17:34Speaker 12: You just know the fans gonna be able to support,
- 17:36Speaker 12: you know, you know it's gonna be a pat house.
- 17:38Speaker 12: All the guys gonna be you know, a little nervous,
- 17:40Speaker 12: you know, getting the blood flowing.
- 17:41Speaker 4: And uh.
- 17:42Speaker 12: Man, Like I said, the team's gonna be very good
- 17:43Speaker 12: this year. Were very excited to be backing Charleston.
- 17:46Speaker 3: Talk about last year. I mean you guys, uh, I
- 17:48Speaker 3: mean you start every every baseball season where every team
- 17:51Speaker 3: starts out, you know that everybody's in first place and
- 17:53Speaker 3: everybody's unblemish record. We're all ready to go. But you guys,
- 17:57Speaker 3: last season, I mean you you had a one heck
- 18:00Speaker 3: of a season. He made it to the to the championships.
- 18:03Speaker 3: I mean, that's pretty good stuff. And it's an easy
- 18:05Speaker 3: selling point to talk to your players. And we'll get
- 18:08Speaker 3: into the players a little bit later on and the
- 18:09Speaker 3: fans to say, look what we did last year, you know,
- 18:12Speaker 3: let's try it again this year.
- 18:14Speaker 12: Yes, you definitely want to build off of last year.
- 18:16Speaker 12: We definitely had a really good squad. We had a
- 18:19Speaker 12: lot of dudes get signed.
- 18:20Speaker 4: Last year.
- 18:21Speaker 12: We had like I think ten and we still you know,
- 18:23Speaker 12: got to the championship game. That's that's very hard to
- 18:26Speaker 12: do independent baseball.
- 18:27Speaker 3: Right, I'll let you introduce this gentleman here. I think
- 18:30Speaker 3: you know something about it.
- 18:31Speaker 7: So we got Sip guards that he's our pitching coach
- 18:33Speaker 7: and all of the above. He's the person I'm always
- 18:35Speaker 7: texting last minute when I need players for things, so
- 18:37Speaker 7: I appreciate him. But yeah, Sip was with PJ last
- 18:40Speaker 7: year as our bench coach and third base coach, and
- 18:43Speaker 7: now he's the pitching coach this year.
- 18:44Speaker 3: All right, welcome to the studio. This is your first
- 18:46Speaker 3: time on the show. I think it is. Appreciate it,
- 18:48Speaker 3: glad to be here. All right, what's my opening day
- 18:49Speaker 3: mean to you?
- 18:50Speaker 13: Like PJ kind of described, it's definitely very exciting. You know,
- 18:53Speaker 13: it's a fresh start for the season. Everyone's you know,
- 18:56Speaker 13: enthusiastic and optimistic about their you know, the performance and
- 19:00Speaker 13: now look for the whole year. So we're definitely excited.
- 19:02Speaker 13: I know the fans are going to be happy for
- 19:04Speaker 13: it too.
- 19:05Speaker 3: Let's talk to Jill. I'll defer to you or Andy
- 19:07Speaker 3: maybe in this. Let's talk about the lineup this year,
- 19:08Speaker 3: because you've got you got some players with some big
- 19:11Speaker 3: league experience this year.
- 19:13Speaker 7: Yeah, I think there's four or five of the big
- 19:14Speaker 7: league experience, specifically our I believe he is starting tonight,
- 19:18Speaker 7: Kiva Sampson. He was with the squad last year as well,
- 19:21Speaker 7: and I'm excited to see what he's done. He did
- 19:24Speaker 7: not get the win in his last starks. Remember this
- 19:26Speaker 7: is opening day here in Charleston, but the boy's been
- 19:28Speaker 7: playing for six games, so they're they're fresh, they're ready
- 19:30Speaker 7: to go. He is not only an amazing player, but
- 19:33Speaker 7: he has been a really amazing person in the community
- 19:36Speaker 7: as well. For our scrimmage during the Grand Slame School Day.
- 19:39Speaker 7: Hopefully he doesn't mind that I say this, but he
- 19:40Speaker 7: bought about fifty kids dippin' dots. He was walking around
- 19:43Speaker 7: the stands and he bought some fanso and dippin' dots.
- 19:46Speaker 7: So he's been an amazing piece to this puzzle.
- 19:48Speaker 3: And you nobody bought you dippin' dots, don't he I
- 19:51Speaker 3: don't need any.
- 19:52Speaker 4: I don't need any.
- 19:52Speaker 11: Like I'm thankful that I don't have too much of
- 19:55Speaker 11: a sweet tooth, at least during the day.
- 19:56Speaker 4: Otherwise.
- 19:57Speaker 11: Yeah, with the ballpark food, because that's something that I've
- 20:00Speaker 11: think we've you know, ballpark food. Hot Dogs taste better
- 20:03Speaker 11: at the ballpark. That's just beers taste better, especially when
- 20:08Speaker 11: you do one dollar beer night, better than But you know,
- 20:12Speaker 11: I mean we have, We've added some elements, We've improved
- 20:15Speaker 11: some elements. I mean, I think our concessions. We saw
- 20:17Speaker 11: it the other night with the WV. Marshall game. I
- 20:20Speaker 11: mean I think it flowed tremendously as great as could be.
- 20:23Speaker 11: And you know, we really added some new things to
- 20:26Speaker 11: add to that off the field environment at the ballpark
- 20:29Speaker 11: as well.
- 20:30Speaker 3: And that's the thing about baseball, and any guys can
- 20:32Speaker 3: jump in here. I know you're PJ. You're you're concentrating
- 20:35Speaker 3: on the on the field thing, but when people go
- 20:37Speaker 3: out to minor league baseball, even major league baseball parks,
- 20:40Speaker 3: I mean, it's part of the experience as well, you know,
- 20:43Speaker 3: the concessions and everything that goes along with it and
- 20:46Speaker 3: that that makes it a fun environment.
- 20:48Speaker 4: Oh yes, for sure.
- 20:49Speaker 12: You know we go to the ballpark, the hot dolls,
- 20:52Speaker 12: the hamburgers, you know, things like that. Definitely is a
- 20:55Speaker 12: big part, especially if you've got good food, you know
- 20:56Speaker 12: what I mean.
- 20:57Speaker 4: So it definitely helps.
- 20:58Speaker 3: Up anything new on the men because you know, I'm
- 21:00Speaker 3: always concentrating on the food. Is there anything new on
- 21:02Speaker 3: the menu this year?
- 21:03Speaker 2: Oh?
- 21:03Speaker 11: Absolutely, We've got a handful of awesome new dessert items.
- 21:07Speaker 11: I don't know if I know, Mike's son absolutely loved
- 21:10Speaker 11: the SpongeBob popsicles. I don't know if that'd be up
- 21:12Speaker 11: your alley, but I mean I think those.
- 21:14Speaker 3: Are that's more of a SpongeBob popsicles. You've got his attentions.
- 21:19Speaker 3: That's one of the new things.
- 21:20Speaker 11: Well, I mean just we've got a whole new dessert
- 21:22Speaker 11: menu which is really really cool and you know, super fun.
- 21:25Speaker 11: We've got a handful of new kind of like I
- 21:28Speaker 11: don't want to say gourmet hot dogs necessarily, but like
- 21:31Speaker 11: fun mixes, and I mean it just it was funny
- 21:34Speaker 11: when we had him out there the other day, like
- 21:36Speaker 11: it that took some serious self control to just not
- 21:39Speaker 11: step away from everyone start eating all the hot dogs
- 21:41Speaker 11: that were in front of everyone. But uh, yeah, no,
- 21:44Speaker 11: I think we've got a handful of that. We've got
- 21:45Speaker 11: a handful of new We've got a brand new bar
- 21:48Speaker 11: at the stadium so for for different drinks and beers.
- 21:53Speaker 11: A lot of new stuff, a lot of cool stuff,
- 21:55Speaker 11: and you know, like I keep saying, a lot of
- 21:56Speaker 11: improved stuff as well.
- 21:58Speaker 3: Talk about let's go back a couple nights of that
- 22:00Speaker 3: WVU Marshall game. I mean, what an electric atmosphere that
- 22:06Speaker 3: that was a Gomart ballpark. I mean, you know, it's
- 22:09Speaker 3: always great when those two teams play each other in
- 22:11Speaker 3: West Virginia. Won the first two one in Morgantown, won
- 22:14Speaker 3: a dramatic fashion with the steel of home in Huntington.
- 22:17Speaker 3: Then they come to the ballpark the other night and
- 22:19Speaker 3: walk it off Marshall wins that game.
- 22:22Speaker 11: Just just a great night at the ballpark the other night.
- 22:24Speaker 11: Oh it was electric. I mean it was absolutely awesome.
- 22:26Speaker 11: But I think it also, you know, kind of shows
- 22:28Speaker 11: how passionate the community is for baseball and really and
- 22:33Speaker 11: truly for their own I mean we saw that last
- 22:35Speaker 11: year too, where you know, I certainly don't have numbers
- 22:38Speaker 11: I guess, but like just after being in this industry
- 22:40Speaker 11: for over twenty one for twenty years now.
- 22:43Speaker 4: No one travels as good as we do.
- 22:45Speaker 11: I mean, when we played those playoff games in Gastonia,
- 22:48Speaker 11: that might as well have been a Dirty Birds home game,
- 22:50Speaker 11: that was awesome. When we went to York, traveling through
- 22:53Speaker 11: a literal hurricane to get there, I mean, we had
- 22:57Speaker 11: an entire section that you could hear from everywhere in
- 23:00Speaker 11: the stadium. So I mean, I think that our community
- 23:03Speaker 11: is just as if not more passionate as everyone when
- 23:06Speaker 11: it comes to baseball, but then also really really supporting
- 23:10Speaker 11: their team.
- 23:11Speaker 3: We had a text here somebody asked if that WVU
- 23:14Speaker 3: Marshall was the biggest baseball crowd ever there, and he says.
- 23:19Speaker 11: I know it was certainly the as far as I know,
- 23:21Speaker 11: is the biggest WV. Marshall crowd period for baseball, whether
- 23:24Speaker 11: it's at our stadium or anywhere for that matter, for baseball.
- 23:29Speaker 11: We might have to ask some of the historians. There's
- 23:31Speaker 11: a little, uh, there's a little clash on something that
- 23:35Speaker 11: was like twenty years ago, whether it did or did
- 23:37Speaker 11: not happen. So uh, I guess it depends who you
- 23:41Speaker 11: ask on that one.
- 23:42Speaker 3: Where's the toast man? I bet he would know, all right, Blackstone,
- 23:45Speaker 3: if you're.
- 23:45Speaker 4: But he used to.
- 23:46Speaker 11: I mean he knows how to play both sides. I
- 23:48Speaker 11: mean he knows how to be wishy washy so that
- 23:50Speaker 11: he's not disagreeing, but he's not agreeing with anyone.
- 23:52Speaker 4: So you trust me. I've asked, and that's why I
- 23:54Speaker 4: still I still don't have a real answer for you.
- 23:56Speaker 3: He was around politics for a while, would expect he's
- 24:00Speaker 3: good at that. That's what they do, pizza. Let me
- 24:02Speaker 3: ask you, you know, opening up on the road as
- 24:06Speaker 3: you did, and you know, and it varies every year.
- 24:08Speaker 3: Sometimes you're at home, sometimes run the road. You open
- 24:10Speaker 3: up on the road. For how many games did you
- 24:11Speaker 3: play on the road? It was the six six games
- 24:13Speaker 3: on the road and the old country song since six
- 24:15Speaker 3: days on the road, and I'm gonna make it home tonight.
- 24:17Speaker 3: So talk about opening up at a home versus opening
- 24:21Speaker 3: up on the road. Uh, you get that feeling, you
- 24:24Speaker 3: know maybe if we could just get home, you know
- 24:27Speaker 3: that that'll bring a lot more excitement.
- 24:29Speaker 9: Uh.
- 24:30Speaker 3: And for the players.
- 24:31Speaker 12: Yeah, for me, Uh, when you open up on the road,
- 24:34Speaker 12: my motto is you at least want to start the
- 24:36Speaker 12: season at five hundred. We go on the road, so
- 24:40Speaker 12: you know, you wanna split the series whichever way you can.
- 24:42Speaker 12: And when you come back home, you're going you saying
- 24:44Speaker 12: you're going the big run and uh by us coming
- 24:47Speaker 12: back today. Yeah, indeed, I feel like we're gonna have
- 24:50Speaker 12: a good team game home streets. We're gonna win a
- 24:53Speaker 12: lot of games.
- 24:53Speaker 3: Yeah, and we certainly hope.
- 24:55Speaker 4: So.
- 24:55Speaker 3: Dave Allen showing five Eddie Line brought to you part
- 24:57Speaker 3: by Husbands Pizza. Get yourself a large eighteen inch Pepperoni
- 24:59Speaker 3: pizza and order of cinema by twenty ninety nine eat
- 25:02Speaker 3: and pick up or get delivery by going to Hustin's
- 25:04Speaker 3: Pizza dot com jail. As somebody who handles a lot
- 25:06Speaker 3: of the marketing, I mean well, I mean you do
- 25:08Speaker 3: a little bit of everything there with the Dirty Birds,
- 25:11Speaker 3: but somebody that is in the marketing talk about the
- 25:13Speaker 3: off season, I mean especially you know the winter we had,
- 25:16Speaker 3: it was a one for the ages, and I know
- 25:19Speaker 3: for somewhere around January twentieth, you know, I'm sitting there
- 25:23Speaker 3: with snow and ice on the ground. Thank you, man,
- 25:25Speaker 3: I just wish I were at the ballpark right now
- 25:27Speaker 3: and I know a lot of people kind of feel
- 25:29Speaker 3: that way. But talking about the off season marketing that
- 25:32Speaker 3: you guys have done to put a lot of work
- 25:33Speaker 3: into this twenty twenty five.
- 25:35Speaker 7: Season, right, So this is my eighth Opening Day, and
- 25:39Speaker 7: this one's a little bit different in terms of the
- 25:41Speaker 7: off season plannings. This is my first time that I
- 25:43Speaker 7: was also working somewhere that had something as big as
- 25:45Speaker 7: Light the Night, So it was kind of we had
- 25:47Speaker 7: to div you up our marketing where we still need
- 25:49Speaker 7: to have a lot of focus on Light the Night,
- 25:51Speaker 7: but we can't forget about baseball because that's such a beast.
- 25:53Speaker 7: It's a six month project, so a lot of the
- 25:56Speaker 7: marketing we are partnering with Whitney Hunt, who is fantastic.
- 26:00Speaker 7: A lot of the marketing is focusing on why is
- 26:03Speaker 7: every single game important? Because again it's a six month
- 26:06Speaker 7: period and we want people to feel like they need
- 26:09Speaker 7: to be there for as many games as possible, not
- 26:11Speaker 7: just Opening Day, not just opening weekends, but the entire season.
- 26:14Speaker 7: So it's trying to get different promotions together, whether it's
- 26:17Speaker 7: discounted tickets, discounted food, but also just really big community
- 26:20Speaker 7: events like our African American Heritage Night, like Pride Night,
- 26:24Speaker 7: like strikeout Cancer. So it's just really trying to find
- 26:27Speaker 7: something that every single person in this community can relate to.
- 26:30Speaker 3: And that's a big part of it. And PG, I
- 26:32Speaker 3: know you get and you guys and you can weigh
- 26:34Speaker 3: in on this as well. Everybody loves opening Day, whether
- 26:37Speaker 3: it's Majors, whether it's everybody loves opening Day, but they
- 26:40Speaker 3: the fans are needed in June seventeenth, you know, on
- 26:45Speaker 3: just things where you have nothing going on and talk
- 26:48Speaker 3: talk about getting that momentum and how important it is
- 26:50Speaker 3: to get those fans back out there at times other
- 26:52Speaker 3: than just opening Day.
- 26:53Speaker 13: No, definitely, I think that that's the unique and cool
- 26:57Speaker 13: part of independent baseball is that you can have a
- 26:59Speaker 13: lot more relations with the fans through grassrooms, community. You know,
- 27:03Speaker 13: you can really build that type of relationship. So you
- 27:06Speaker 13: don't just expect people to be there opening Day when
- 27:08Speaker 13: everyone's excited, but you know you're excited to see them
- 27:11Speaker 13: later on throughout the year as well.
- 27:12Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean that's a big part of it. And you guys,
- 27:14Speaker 3: I want to talk about community engagement for a moment.
- 27:16Speaker 3: You mentioned the Light to Night, the sel Angle, All
- 27:19Speaker 3: Light the Night just unbelievable. Had a lot of work
- 27:22Speaker 3: to do to pull to top last year's Well let's
- 27:25Speaker 3: you worry about that at a later time. But talk
- 27:27Speaker 3: about Andy, the the importance of these players, these coaches,
- 27:31Speaker 3: Jill and everybody yourself being involved in the community.
- 27:35Speaker 4: Oh, it's absolutely monumental.
- 27:36Speaker 11: And whether it is events or whether it's things outside
- 27:39Speaker 11: of the ballpark, I.
- 27:40Speaker 4: Mean it all ties together.
- 27:42Speaker 11: When we had over one hundred thousand people come through
- 27:44Speaker 11: the ballpark for light to night, you know, the a
- 27:47Speaker 11: one goal and ideas, and the assumption is that plenty
- 27:50Speaker 11: of them had maybe not been to a baseball game before.
- 27:52Speaker 11: But then when they see how beautiful the stadium is,
- 27:54Speaker 11: when they see how easy it is to get there,
- 27:56Speaker 11: and when they have an amazing time, they're thinking, oh
- 27:59Speaker 11: my gosh, we got to come back and check out
- 28:01Speaker 11: this baseball game. So I mean, it really does all
- 28:03Speaker 11: go together and is marketing its own right. I Mean,
- 28:06Speaker 11: the thing that's awesome about this whole entire company really
- 28:10Speaker 11: is that, I mean, we haven't had a regular season
- 28:13Speaker 11: Dirty Birds game yet and I don't know the exact number,
- 28:16Speaker 11: but we had to have had way over thirty thousand
- 28:18Speaker 11: people at the ballpark. Just in the last month or so,
- 28:21Speaker 11: I mean between college games, we had an amazing Cares
- 28:24Speaker 11: event that these guys and the players were with and
- 28:27Speaker 11: helping with. Heck, whether it was my son or you know,
- 28:30Speaker 11: other kids that were at the event. We had an
- 28:32Speaker 11: exhibition game, We had the home run derby. We had
- 28:35Speaker 11: a Mountaineer Little League Dirty Day where we had seventeen
- 28:38Speaker 11: games in one day. So, I mean, all of that
- 28:41Speaker 11: stuff goes together and just how we can be a
- 28:44Speaker 11: part of the community and make it accessible for everyone.
- 28:46Speaker 3: And this is the twentieth anniversary of that ballpark. It's
- 28:49Speaker 3: hard to believe that the ballpark's been around for twenty years.
- 28:53Speaker 3: I mean I drove by it the other day. I'm
- 28:54Speaker 3: on way home from work, and I know the season
- 28:56Speaker 3: has not started, and I see cars everyone like what
- 28:58Speaker 3: are they doing now? It's so much more become you
- 29:00Speaker 3: mentioned light the night, but even more than that, it's
- 29:02Speaker 3: become so much more than just baseball having that park
- 29:07Speaker 3: there and what a big part of the community.
- 29:09Speaker 11: But it's become oh absolutely, and that's our goal all
- 29:11Speaker 11: the time. I Mean, my mind is always spinning. And
- 29:14Speaker 11: as I kind of mentioned earlier, when you have the
- 29:16Speaker 11: artificial turf field, it opens up a massive amount of
- 29:20Speaker 11: opportunities and ideas. So I mean, I want you know,
- 29:23Speaker 11: we did the Mountaineer Little League Dirty Day there where it.
- 29:26Speaker 4: Was from nine am to nine pm.
- 29:27Speaker 11: We played seventeen games, and it was one of those
- 29:31Speaker 11: things where it was like, I think we can do
- 29:33Speaker 11: this pretty often and if we had regular if we
- 29:36Speaker 11: had natural grass, we couldn't even I don't know if
- 29:39Speaker 11: these guys would have been too pumped with me about
- 29:41Speaker 11: having seventeen games on our field five days before our
- 29:44Speaker 11: opening day, but you know the.
- 29:47Speaker 3: PJA, Yeah, I don't know, man, I'm glad we got
- 29:50Speaker 3: t Yeah.
- 29:51Speaker 11: With the turf, you won't notice exactly. I know, if
- 29:54Speaker 11: we didn't know the pictures, I mean, you wouldn't really
- 29:56Speaker 11: even notice. That's how amazing it is. So you know,
- 29:58Speaker 11: that is something we always strive to do, is just
- 30:00Speaker 11: make it as accessible as possible and make it for
- 30:03Speaker 11: every single person. And then heck, yes, it is always
- 30:05Speaker 11: first and foremost a baseball stadium, but you know, being
- 30:09Speaker 11: able to utilize it for nonprofit events, for concerts, for
- 30:13Speaker 11: light the night, you know that all ties together and
- 30:16Speaker 11: just really and truly raises the profile of the baseball team.
- 30:20Speaker 3: We had a text here speaking of off the field,
- 30:23Speaker 3: and this texture has texted this before. I've said it before.
- 30:26Speaker 3: Out of all the concerts that have come to Charleston,
- 30:28Speaker 3: nothing will ever top the two thousand and five Def
- 30:30Speaker 3: Leppard and Brian Adams show at the Ballpark. A great
- 30:32Speaker 3: multi use event. Again, I ask in late August early September,
- 30:35Speaker 3: would you see about airing WVU football games on the
- 30:38Speaker 3: jumbo trod, open the concession stands and kids area, make
- 30:41Speaker 3: it a giant tailgate party. It happened several years ago
- 30:44Speaker 3: and it was so much fun.
- 30:45Speaker 4: Why wouldn't we? Yeah, that's pretty fun. That's sweet.
- 30:48Speaker 11: Yeah, seriously now yeah, all right, check now it sounds
- 30:52Speaker 11: absolutely awesome.
- 30:53Speaker 4: Ye, I think something like that.
- 30:53Speaker 11: And that's where, you know, just utilizing it as a
- 30:56Speaker 11: community event. I mean that ties and checks a lot
- 30:59Speaker 11: of bocks, so by all means, that would be a blast.
- 31:01Speaker 3: Yeah. One thing that you run into sometimes with this
- 31:03Speaker 3: is you get into legal issues with a different conference,
- 31:06Speaker 3: you know, the different conferences and whatever, what you're allowed
- 31:08Speaker 3: to show and whatever. So that's something you guys would
- 31:10Speaker 3: would do that the right way.
- 31:12Speaker 4: Wasn't that?
- 31:12Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 31:12Speaker 4: I mean, don't ask for forgiveness and operation on right.
- 31:15Speaker 3: Hey, I didn't hear that strike that from the recording
- 31:17Speaker 3: we did. We did not say that. We did not
- 31:19Speaker 3: say that quick text here. I know you guys got
- 31:22Speaker 3: to go, but says Marshall and West Virginia both need
- 31:23Speaker 3: to schedule more games to that ballpark, both with each
- 31:26Speaker 3: other and other teams. I mean, that's that would always
- 31:29Speaker 3: that would.
- 31:29Speaker 4: Be a blast, you know.
- 31:30Speaker 11: I mean, up until last season we would have we
- 31:34Speaker 11: had a ton of Marshall games. But since they've got
- 31:36Speaker 11: their new beautiful stadium.
- 31:38Speaker 3: Been about thirty years in the works, that stadium down
- 31:41Speaker 3: in Huntings and I and they were talking about that
- 31:42Speaker 3: stadium when I was a student there in the early nineties.
- 31:44Speaker 3: If that tells you anything, they finally got it done.
- 31:46Speaker 4: Now I'm with you, though.
- 31:47Speaker 11: I mean, something that I've kind of been, you know,
- 31:48Speaker 11: in the back of my head working on is how
- 31:50Speaker 11: we could do some sort of you know, whether it's
- 31:52Speaker 11: four team or something like that tournament there. And it
- 31:55Speaker 11: would be you know, by all means, having Marshall and
- 31:57Speaker 11: WVU as the lynch pins would be absolutely terrific. But
- 32:01Speaker 11: if it was something like those two Penn State and Georgetown,
- 32:05Speaker 11: you know, something like that and really kind of get
- 32:07Speaker 11: engaged and have some fun that way, because not only
- 32:10Speaker 11: was it absolutely amazing here, but I mean the ESPN
- 32:12Speaker 11: Plus coverage of it was terrific. So I think again
- 32:16Speaker 11: for those pro for those two teams, as well as
- 32:18Speaker 11: our stadium and the Dirty Birds having that amazing look
- 32:22Speaker 11: and with the packed stadium, that just beautiful stadium, I
- 32:26Speaker 11: think raised the profile a ton.
- 32:28Speaker 3: Let's go back to that on the field of stuff
- 32:30Speaker 3: before we let you go, Gas, what are you most
- 32:32Speaker 3: looking forward to this season?
- 32:35Speaker 14: Man?
- 32:35Speaker 12: Just keep building the chemistry at the team, chemistry in
- 32:38Speaker 12: h you know, making everybody proud in Charleston. Last year
- 32:42Speaker 12: we got to a championship game, we didn't finish it.
- 32:44Speaker 12: So this year were really trying to, you know, bring
- 32:47Speaker 12: it home. So and this we need all the fans
- 32:48Speaker 12: to come out. We really need you all support because
- 32:52Speaker 12: our team thrives off the energy.
- 32:54Speaker 3: It's a little bit different animal at this level because again,
- 32:58Speaker 3: you're so so a big part of the community and
- 33:03Speaker 3: you see the players playing third base and you might
- 33:06Speaker 3: you might see them over at Capital Market. You know
- 33:08Speaker 3: in a few hours that you don't see that you
- 33:10Speaker 3: don't always run in. You know, you're a Red Sox fan.
- 33:12Speaker 3: You don't always run into your to the Red Sox
- 33:14Speaker 3: folks over over the supermarket or whatever. But but but
- 33:17Speaker 3: you do. You guys and and and everybody in the organization.
- 33:20Speaker 3: You're part of the community here in Charleston. What are
- 33:23Speaker 3: you most looking forward to?
- 33:24Speaker 13: No, definitely, it's like, you know, it's a new opportunity
- 33:27Speaker 13: for this season, you know, and every up new opportunity
- 33:30Speaker 13: brings something good. And definitely, I think we're going to
- 33:32Speaker 13: have a lot of success being being in this community.
- 33:35Speaker 4: Having our season we did.
- 33:36Speaker 13: Last year, I hope that we can build off that
- 33:39Speaker 13: and make a lot of progress this year.
- 33:41Speaker 3: All right, guys, appreciate. Oh we had a text year
- 33:43Speaker 3: Savannah Bananas this.
- 33:44Speaker 7: Year unfortunately, no, no Savannah Bananas this year. They're they're
- 33:49Speaker 7: getting pretty big. They're selling out MLB Stadium, so it's
- 33:52Speaker 7: it's tough. I'd love to have them back. But but
- 33:54Speaker 7: you know, we knew them when Yeah, we knew them
- 33:57Speaker 7: exactly exactly. I do want to remind people you mentioned
- 33:59Speaker 7: the twentieth anniversary. We're celebrating that today. First of all,
- 34:03Speaker 7: gates are opening at five o'clock, first pitch is at
- 34:06Speaker 7: six thirty five and at six o'clock we are doing
- 34:09Speaker 7: a twentieth anniversary ceremony to celebrate that. So make sure
- 34:13Speaker 7: you get in your seats early.
- 34:15Speaker 3: All right, before we let you go. I know, there's
- 34:17Speaker 3: gonna be some things that are gonna be going on
- 34:20Speaker 3: over the summer that aren't necessarily baseball. We can't reveal
- 34:23Speaker 3: all the information, but there's gonna be some concerts and
- 34:26Speaker 3: some different things. Logan Scott from our sister station V
- 34:28Speaker 3: one hundreds apparently moving into the ballpark. We're gonna talk
- 34:31Speaker 3: to him about that a little bit later on. But again,
- 34:33Speaker 3: it just goes to show the ownership and whatever, the
- 34:36Speaker 3: commitment to the community to bring things great to the
- 34:38Speaker 3: Kanawa Valley.
- 34:40Speaker 4: That's I mean, that's that's spot on.
- 34:42Speaker 11: I mean, that's something that we're just very literally always
- 34:45Speaker 11: talking about, always looking for, and you know sometimes we'll
- 34:49Speaker 11: swing in a miss on it, but you know, it's
- 34:51Speaker 11: always figuring out, Okay, how can we do more?
- 34:53Speaker 4: What else can we do? How can we make it better?
- 34:56Speaker 11: You know, by all means like very again kind of
- 34:59Speaker 11: literally starts with opening day of the Dirty Birds. I
- 35:02Speaker 11: mean that's what everything stems off of. So you know,
- 35:05Speaker 11: can't say it enough. We're just so so excited to
- 35:08Speaker 11: get this rolling. Last year was absolutely awesome and like
- 35:13Speaker 11: on the field, off the field, always look into how
- 35:16Speaker 11: do you get a little better every day?
- 35:18Speaker 3: All right, guys, we appreciate you being here. Jill, you
- 35:20Speaker 3: always I heard I was actually listening to your interview
- 35:22Speaker 3: yesterday as I was driving home when you were on
- 35:24Speaker 3: with the Logan Scott and you always urge people to
- 35:27Speaker 3: get their tickets online ahead of time.
- 35:29Speaker 7: Yes, get tickets at dirty words baseball dot com. You
- 35:32Speaker 7: can skip the lines at the box office. It's just

- 35:39Speaker 7: for you all day.
- 35:40Speaker 3: Why did you look at me when you said old school?
- 35:42Speaker 7: I wanted to make eye contact. Trying to be nice
- 35:46Speaker 7: and polite, David.
- 35:47Speaker 3: Be polite to your elders. All right, guys, we'll see
- 35:50Speaker 3: at the ballpark tonight. Thank you so much. I know
- 35:52Speaker 3: it's a busy time, but I always like to this

- 39:53Speaker 3: would be a show. We could probably start this show
- 39:55Speaker 3: at nine o'clock in the morning, take it to nine

- 39:59Speaker 3: best concert ever. We're in Charleston. We may do that,
- 40:02Speaker 3: but first of all, Logan Scott, good morning from A
- 40:05Speaker 3: V one hundred is here. Hey, no buddy, I'm well,
- 40:07Speaker 3: how are you? I am doing fine? Opening night for
- 40:09Speaker 3: the Dirty Birds it is. I'm excited about it. There's
- 40:11Speaker 3: so much. I mean, like I'm gonna try to I'm
- 40:13Speaker 3: gonna try to go down the list of things going on. Well,
- 40:17Speaker 3: I was gonna say, we'll be a Dancing with the
- 40:18Speaker 3: Stars center. You get so dancing with the Stars. We
- 40:22Speaker 3: got the race for the ribbon about tomorrow morning, tomorrow morning.
- 40:26Speaker 3: But the pack packet pickup parties tonight. Yeah, try to
- 40:29Speaker 3: saying that a couple of times. All right, that's going
- 40:30Speaker 3: on tonight. All these there's various farmers' markets going on
- 40:34Speaker 3: in my part of where where I live in Hurricane.
- 40:36Speaker 3: They've got their their main street Spring festival going on
- 40:39Speaker 3: all day tomorrow. Saint Albans has got a pub crawl
- 40:43Speaker 3: going on tomorrow night for sinking to my ow a
- 40:45Speaker 3: little bit early. So all that having been said, why
- 40:48Speaker 3: are you moving into the ballpark?
- 40:50Speaker 17: Well, this is a pretty special event. It's called camping
- 40:53Speaker 17: for Kids. Okay, So with w v RC Media, we
- 40:57Speaker 17: were very proud supporters of w YOU Medicine Children's so
- 41:01Speaker 17: we do radiothon every August. So this is kind of
- 41:04Speaker 17: a kickstart to Radiothon. I'm going to be camping out,
- 41:07Speaker 17: and I'm setting up camp on Friday, May thirtieth at
- 41:11Speaker 17: Gomart Ballpark, and I'm camping out until I raised ten
- 41:14Speaker 17: thousand dollars for WVU Medicine children, so I could be
- 41:16Speaker 17: there till Tuesday or longer.
- 41:19Speaker 4: Or longer or longer.
- 41:20Speaker 3: So when you say you're camping out, I mean you literally.
- 41:24Speaker 3: This is not glamping as they call it, right, They're
- 41:26Speaker 3: not going to be heading out to the van to
- 41:28Speaker 3: sleep at night or whatever.
- 41:29Speaker 4: No tent.
- 41:31Speaker 17: Obviously, materials for smores, because that's important. When you're Yeah, fire,
- 41:35Speaker 17: I got to I gotta ask if we can have
- 41:37Speaker 17: fire at the at the ballpark.
- 41:39Speaker 3: Like Andy she just said during any interview with him,
- 41:42Speaker 3: it's better to ask for forgiveness and permission.
- 41:45Speaker 4: This is true.
- 41:46Speaker 3: Just don't burn down the ballpark, Okay, Yeah, I'll have
- 41:49Speaker 3: people on stands. It's AstroTurf. Yeah right, all right, so
- 41:53Speaker 3: you're you're really doing this. I'm really doing it. Yeah,
- 41:56Speaker 3: now this You've done this before, but never in Charles, Right,
- 42:00Speaker 3: didn't you do this one of the other markets?
- 42:01Speaker 7: I did?
- 42:02Speaker 17: Yeah, So I just moved here in October, so I
- 42:04Speaker 17: did this in the market that I came from before,
- 42:07Speaker 17: but this is larger, bigger, better, and you know, more money.
- 42:11Speaker 17: I'm the goal to raise more money.
- 42:13Speaker 3: So you're going to show up and you're just going
- 42:14Speaker 3: to pitch the tent. Yeah, and then how do how
- 42:16Speaker 3: will people and we'll be talking a lot about it
- 42:18Speaker 3: between now and then, But how do people get the
- 42:20Speaker 3: money to you?
- 42:21Speaker 4: Yeah? For sure?
- 42:21Speaker 3: So you can come to the game.
- 42:23Speaker 17: You can put it through the fence after the game's
- 42:26Speaker 17: over if I'm there at two am. But the easiest
- 42:28Speaker 17: way we'll be online. I'll have an online platform. The
- 42:31Speaker 17: QR code will be up at the on the big screen.
- 42:34Speaker 17: I'll share it on the V one hundred Facebook page,
- 42:36Speaker 17: my Facebook page, and you know, I will be there
- 42:40Speaker 17: until I raise ten one thousand dollars. Now, if your
- 42:43Speaker 17: business you or your business want to get involved, you
- 42:45Speaker 17: can call Sean here at our office three zero four
- 42:48Speaker 17: three four two eight one three one, because we are
- 42:50Speaker 17: looking for some sponsors as well.
- 42:51Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean that would that would be a nice
- 42:53Speaker 3: little shot in the arms. So if you know, listen
- 42:55Speaker 3: to us, mister and missus. Business owner, if you want
- 42:57Speaker 3: to get involved in this and you want to sponsor this,
- 43:00Speaker 3: just to call Tracy at the front desk. He'll put
- 43:02Speaker 3: you in touch with Sean and we'll get some sponsors there.
- 43:04Speaker 3: And we've already got I mean obviously Go Mart's involved.
- 43:06Speaker 17: Yep, Go Mart and the Charleston Dirty Birds. Yeah, it's
- 43:10Speaker 17: it's gonna be a great event starting May thirtieth. It's
- 43:13Speaker 17: a Friday three pm. And hopefully I'm out of there
- 43:16Speaker 17: by Saturday. But again, if i'm there till Wednesday, I'm
- 43:19Speaker 17: doing it for.
- 43:20Speaker 3: W You are at least they're gonna least going to
- 43:22Speaker 3: give you like shower access.
- 43:23Speaker 17: If you need to ask that question, I'm gonna write
- 43:26Speaker 17: that down.
- 43:26Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, things to ask, Yeah, ask about shower access?
- 43:30Speaker 3: Yeah so and what about concession stands? They gonna give
- 43:35Speaker 3: you free round the concession stand or not?
- 43:37Speaker 17: I have to ask that too. Maybe i'll ask forgiveness
- 43:39Speaker 17: on that one.
- 43:40Speaker 3: Text here says you ought to make that a competition
- 43:43Speaker 3: between local media personalities. Each has a ten thousand dollars goal.
- 43:47Speaker 3: See how long each one will last until they reach
- 43:49Speaker 3: their goal. Ooh, I know that may be in a
- 43:51Speaker 3: future time.
- 43:51Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a good idea.
- 43:53Speaker 3: Here's the thing. We've got such a great relationship yeah,
- 43:56Speaker 3: with with w with WVU and what we do here.
- 43:58Speaker 3: But look on down the line if we want to.
- 44:02Speaker 3: We're all friends with these other guys, but they all
- 44:04Speaker 3: suck compared to us. So if we want shots fired,
- 44:08Speaker 3: shots fired. Dave said that Logan did not say that
- 44:11Speaker 3: we're all good. We're all good. Yeah, but that would
- 44:13Speaker 3: be something that might be fun. But let's focus on
- 44:15Speaker 3: this one right now. Again, it starts. What's the date?
- 44:17Speaker 3: It is Friday, May thirtieth.
- 44:20Speaker 17: And again, you know, there are over fourteen hundred kids
- 44:24Speaker 17: that utilized WVU Medicine Children's just in Kanawha County last year.
- 44:28Speaker 3: So fourteen thousand just in coneteen hundred fourteen, I'm sorry,
- 44:31Speaker 3: fourteen hundred just in Kanawh County. You use this because
- 44:34Speaker 3: sometimes I think here in Charleston you hear that WVU
- 44:36Speaker 3: and you're thinking, oh, that's something that's up up north
- 44:38Speaker 3: from here. It may be, but you know, fourteen hundred
- 44:43Speaker 3: kids here in Kanawh County right, absolutely use it last year. Yeah,
- 44:46Speaker 3: all right, Well, we'll have you on several times between
- 44:48Speaker 3: now and then. Good luck to you man, Thank you,

- 48:50Speaker 3: Reid will be here. We'll do open Line West Virginia

- 49:11Speaker 3: Meadows is here right now where do you, Mama, don't
- 49:16Speaker 3: ever say that again, especially when you're wearing a golf shirt.
- 49:19Speaker 3: It just doesn't work with martiniz with martiniz on it
- 49:25Speaker 3: is it just me? Or does this Friday have a
- 49:29Speaker 3: more than Friday feel? We were talking about that in
- 49:32Speaker 3: the office today week the weather. We share a layer
- 49:36Speaker 3: up there, myself, tj Amanda when she's here, Bobby Spry, Stephaniah,
- 49:42Speaker 3: Stephanie uh And it's kind of they call it the
- 49:44Speaker 3: fun zone up there and h It just I don't know.
- 49:48Speaker 3: Today just feels different, man. It's just heading into what's
- 49:50Speaker 3: been a long week, heading into the weekend. So many
- 49:52Speaker 3: things going on. Dirty Birds opening night tonight, Dancing with
- 49:57Speaker 3: Stars is tonight in Charleston. Saint Alban's doing a pub
- 49:59Speaker 3: crawl tomorrow. Steve Animal told me about that. I know, shocking.
- 50:02Speaker 3: Steve Animal had a pub crawl, shocking. I can't believe it.
- 50:06Speaker 3: We got some big things going on over and as
- 50:08Speaker 3: I said, over Putnam County two tomorrow, the Spring Festival
- 50:12Speaker 3: going on downtown, opening the Putnam County Farmers Market happening tomorrow. No,
- 50:16Speaker 3: I left something out, but that's just a few of
- 50:18Speaker 3: the things that are going on this weekend. So don't
- 50:20Speaker 3: tell me you ain't got nothing to do, because there's
- 50:22Speaker 3: nothing but stuff to do, always something to do. What
- 50:25Speaker 3: about that little show you do between ten and noon? Yeah,
- 50:28Speaker 3: so you're going to join us at ten o'clock, I am. Yeah,
- 50:31Speaker 3: you're going to join us at ten o six. You
- 50:32Speaker 3: go through my agent on that. You know, by the way,
- 50:35Speaker 3: my agent. Today's my agent's birthday.
- 50:37Speaker 5: This is it?
- 50:37Speaker 3: Really his birthday? Today's Today is mister Burke Allen's birthday
- 50:40Speaker 3: and birthday. If you're listening, happy birthday, sir. Sadly, I
- 50:42Speaker 3: did not know that till someone in my office told me.
- 50:46Speaker 3: We've only you know, we've only known each other for
- 50:48Speaker 3: well over forty years now, and I didn't know that.
- 50:51Speaker 3: I was just about to say, at least you know
- 50:52Speaker 3: your agent's birthday. I don't know my agent's birthday. So well,
- 50:56Speaker 3: I only know because somebody told me in the office,
- 50:58Speaker 3: all right, what do you got today?
- 50:58Speaker 19: So you're gonna join us atenno's. You opened up a
- 51:00Speaker 19: little can yesterday. Maybe maybe on your show we'll talk
- 51:03Speaker 19: about that and get into it with some comments among
- 51:05Speaker 19: Board of Public Works members. Also coming up a ten
- 51:08Speaker 19: thirty three. We've got a photographer, local photographer out of
- 51:11Speaker 19: McDowell County who has been capturing the essence of everything
- 51:14Speaker 19: that has happened since the flood started up till now.
- 51:17Speaker 19: I mean, she is well traveled in McDowell County from there,
- 51:19Speaker 19: but she's on the road every day seeing everything. We'll
- 51:22Speaker 19: talk about her experiences, talk about her images and what
- 51:25Speaker 19: she's seen. I'm very much looking forward to that. And oh,
- 51:27Speaker 19: by the way, Dave, today eleven thirty little thing called
- 51:30Speaker 19: steam Release.
- 51:33Speaker 3: I feel like it could be big today. I feel
- 51:35Speaker 3: like it could be big because I mean, and I
- 51:37Speaker 3: know you, and I've known you for a number of years.
- 51:39Speaker 3: You're a very very likable guy. But you've ruffled a
- 51:42Speaker 3: feather or two, mister Meadows or the last week, so
- 51:46Speaker 3: I wrote about Peia. That may not have been popular,
- 51:48Speaker 3: but look it's time to face reality.
- 51:50Speaker 19: What Peia was can't be again. Economics just will not
- 51:55Speaker 19: work today. I pose a question at wv metronews dot
- 51:58Speaker 19: com about these tariffs. We've heard of the Greatest Generation
- 52:02Speaker 19: WW two, the Great Depression. They had grit, they had gravitas,
- 52:08Speaker 19: right or wrong, good policy or not? With what Trump
- 52:10Speaker 19: is doing with the tariffs. I don't know our generation today.
- 52:13Speaker 19: I don't know if we're up for it. I don't
- 52:14Speaker 19: know if we can stand the pain not to consume.
- 52:18Speaker 3: I said this years ago. If during World War Two
- 52:21Speaker 3: when they did rationing, if it happened to happen today,
- 52:24Speaker 3: it wouldn't happen today because people would just be like,
- 52:26Speaker 3: screw you, you can't tell me what to do. That's
- 52:29Speaker 3: where we are in America right now. So there's also
- 52:31Speaker 3: the question there is this not a war worth fighting?
- 52:33Speaker 19: And maybe Americans pushed back because the President's wrong, or
- 52:36Speaker 19: we don't have the grit to see it through.
- 52:38Speaker 3: So we deal with that in my commentary today, We'll
- 52:40Speaker 3: be listening and I'll be sticking around apparently because you
- 52:42Speaker 3: want me on the show for some reason. I'll see
- 52:44Speaker 3: you later today. Metro News Midday powered by Salingo Law
- 52:47Speaker 3: starting at noon today. Till then, have yourself a great weekend,
- 52:49Speaker 3: have fun and love somebody.
- 53:00Speaker 6: M hmmm.
- 53:03Speaker 2: Why w w C H s A M ninety six
- 53:05Speaker 2: point five. That then Charleston one oh four point five

- 53:12Speaker 2: live here too,
