- 0:12Speaker 2: Good Monday afternoon.
- 0:14Speaker 3: Thank you so much for joining us on the Jim
- 0:16Speaker 3: Colbert Show on Real Radio one of four point one.
- 0:18Speaker 3: We really really do appreciate it. I hope your week
- 0:20Speaker 3: is off to a great start. As you can hear,
- 0:23Speaker 3: Jim is not here today. He has juried yet, he
- 0:27Speaker 3: has jury duty and apparently didn't get kicked out as
- 0:30Speaker 3: quickly as he thought he was going to.
- 0:32Speaker 2: It was even worse than that. It was like right
- 0:34Speaker 2: before lunch, they're like, okay, go to lunch. Then come
- 0:37Speaker 2: back and he's like, oh, you figured he did get
- 0:39Speaker 2: kicked out then, and it's like, no, they still haven't.
- 0:41Speaker 4: Yeah, exactly.
- 0:41Speaker 3: They've hung on to him saying, you know, they need
- 0:44Speaker 3: enough people in case they need a jury for the
- 0:46Speaker 3: last case. Do you guys think he'll even bother showing up? No, oh,
- 0:50Speaker 3: at any time. He's in Lake County now right he
- 0:53Speaker 3: is in Lake County.
- 0:54Speaker 4: I don't know he.
- 0:55Speaker 2: Gets cut within the hour. I think we see him today. Okay, us,
- 1:00Speaker 2: what do you think I think.
- 1:01Speaker 4: Chances are he will be staying there because they might
- 1:05Speaker 4: think he did it.
- 1:09Speaker 3: Well, as you can hear it, We'll let you know
- 1:11Speaker 3: if Jim is able to join us at any time
- 1:13Speaker 3: during the show Today, as you can hear, We've got
- 1:16Speaker 3: deb Jack and Ross. We've got lots of Monday fun
- 1:19Speaker 3: coming up. Emily the movie Girl is going to be
- 1:22Speaker 3: coming in. We're going to talk to you Brandon Kravitz
- 1:24Speaker 3: with Sports later on. Ray Trendley is going to join us.
- 1:27Speaker 3: And of course all of those guys were at our
- 1:29Speaker 3: poker tournament, our nineteenth annual poker tournament benefiting the Mustard
- 1:33Speaker 3: Seed on Saturday night. How about a round of applause
- 1:36Speaker 3: for Jack bradshaw Man putting that thing together, working so hard.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Doesn't it feel like planning a wedding?
- 1:42Speaker 5: It?
- 1:42Speaker 2: Oh totally dies. And then but first of all, it
- 1:46Speaker 2: was a team effort, and we have a great team
- 1:49Speaker 2: of people. When we had new people step up, shout
- 1:51Speaker 2: out to Summer. Oh yeah, Promotions, who just did a
- 1:55Speaker 2: phenomenal job. We had one person resigned, another one calling sick,
- 2:00Speaker 2: and another person show up an hour late. Oh and
- 2:02Speaker 2: that's what you want on a big event day. In
- 2:05Speaker 2: the face of all that, it was a perfect record setting.
- 2:11Speaker 3: Really, because you had said in your email that we
- 2:14Speaker 3: were going to have the final number for how much
- 2:17Speaker 3: money that we had raised for the Mustard Seed. But
- 2:19Speaker 3: you did say that Kathy and her team over at
- 2:22Speaker 3: the Mustard Seed were thrilled with the results, right.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely, because all this money goes to the Mustard
- 2:27Speaker 2: Seed of Central Florida helping them help families transition into
- 2:32Speaker 2: stable housing and everything that's required and all the expenses
- 2:35Speaker 2: that you know come along with that. So they do
- 2:39Speaker 2: a fantastic job. This radio station has had a thirty
- 2:42Speaker 2: year anniversary, thirty year relationship with the Mustard Seed. Way
- 2:47Speaker 2: back when Jim Phillips was looking to donate money and
- 2:51Speaker 2: in the mid nineties some charities were looking like a
- 2:55Speaker 2: real radio now, we don't think we want your money exactly,
- 2:58Speaker 2: and Carol Kine with the Mustard Seed said I'll take it.
- 3:02Speaker 2: I will be happy, I will happily take your money
- 3:05Speaker 2: for charity. Yes, and so that began a wonderful relationship.
- 3:10Speaker 2: We've done Christmas Carol's benefiting the Mustard Seed. We did
- 3:13Speaker 2: a Sporting Clays tournament for five straight years.
- 3:17Speaker 4: It was the TM Shoot.
- 3:21Speaker 2: It was fantastic and when the TM ranch closed down,
- 3:25Speaker 2: we transitioned into a poker tournament back in two thousand
- 3:29Speaker 2: and five, and this past Saturday night was the nineteenth
- 3:33Speaker 2: time we've held it and it raised. Usually we raised
- 3:38Speaker 2: in the upper twenties to low thirty thousand dollars each year,
- 3:42Speaker 2: and the total for this year raised by everyone who attended,
- 3:46Speaker 2: donated items, bid on items, bought, raffle tickets, rebuys, add
- 3:51Speaker 2: ons forty and seventy dollars.
- 3:56Speaker 4: WHOA, that is awesome, Jackie Robinson.
- 4:01Speaker 2: That is for the mustard Seed of Central Florida. Thank
- 4:04Speaker 2: you to everyone who was part of it in whatever way,
- 4:08Speaker 2: whatever role you played.
- 4:10Speaker 3: Thank you, Yeah, absolutely, and thanks you know to all
- 4:13Speaker 3: the listeners that we see every year who come out. Yes,
- 4:16Speaker 3: you know, we have our regulars that come out.
- 4:18Speaker 2: You've got been there almost I think he was a
- 4:22Speaker 2: seventeen years some of them. I've been there since the
- 4:24Speaker 2: very first one in five yep. Michael said he was
- 4:27Speaker 2: there at everyone.
- 4:29Speaker 4: Well. One of my favorite interactions. I walked up to
- 4:31Speaker 4: this cowboy guy. I'm not I don't want to be
- 4:33Speaker 4: offensive by the heavy cowboy vibes, right. I walked out
- 4:37Speaker 4: to this guy and go, how many of these have
- 4:38Speaker 4: you gone to? And he just went twelve. That's awesome
- 4:45Speaker 4: that event jack your crown jewel, the radio station's crown
- 4:50Speaker 4: jewel event. Dare I say, I don't want to take
- 4:52Speaker 4: any accidental jabs there, No, you knelled it. It is,
- 4:56Speaker 4: so it's the best reason to kind of I have
- 5:00Speaker 4: a couple of drinks, get tipsy and scream I'm all
- 5:03Speaker 4: in exactly.
- 5:04Speaker 3: You're all in exactly for cause. And congratulations to Abraham.
- 5:09Speaker 3: He was the guy who knocked me out at my table.
- 5:12Speaker 2: Now, yeah, and we have to talk because Abraham was
- 5:15Speaker 2: very happy to knock you out. In fact, you autographed
- 5:17Speaker 2: when you knock out a celebrity in our tournament. I'll
- 5:20Speaker 2: hold it up to the screen. You get this little
- 5:22Speaker 2: souvenir card. It's in a plaque and it says I
- 5:25Speaker 2: knocked out and it's got a picture of you, the
- 5:27Speaker 2: lovely Deborah Robbers with a radio station logo Jim Colbert Show,
- 5:32Speaker 2: and it mentions it just call mo our main title
- 5:35Speaker 2: sponsored Thank you, just call MOO and the Mustard Seed.
- 5:38Speaker 2: And you know you get that. And you autographed the
- 5:40Speaker 2: back of it. I did, and he left with it.
- 5:42Speaker 2: Well how do you have it? He did leave with it?
- 5:45Speaker 2: And well he stayed. You left, he was still there
- 5:50Speaker 2: floating around. He went to show me and he showed
- 5:52Speaker 2: me an empty frame. I'm like, dude, you lost your picture.
- 5:54Speaker 2: He ran and he's like, I know where I was.
- 5:56Speaker 2: He got it, found it, put it back together, and
- 5:58Speaker 2: he had it again in his hand. And then by
- 6:00Speaker 2: the time I was leaving, my wife came out to me. Here,
- 6:02Speaker 2: I just found this picture of EB and he dropped
- 6:06Speaker 2: it twice. Hey, we have your autograph picture here? Yes,
- 6:11Speaker 2: and then I have another one because I was fortunate
- 6:14Speaker 2: enough to knock out a celebrity. You did, I did.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Who'd you knock out?
- 6:18Speaker 6: Well?
- 6:18Speaker 2: Someone I would like to get their autograph when they
- 6:21Speaker 2: come here in the six o'clock hour.
- 6:23Speaker 4: That would be one, mister Ray friendly. Wow, that's gotta
- 6:28Speaker 4: feel good, right when you knock out a client. Yeah,
- 6:31Speaker 4: that's great. Ross Well, I was more thinking a guy
- 6:34Speaker 4: in a suit he was. Yeah, exactly.
- 6:38Speaker 2: He had a whole builder's network had on and a
- 6:41Speaker 2: nice print shirt.
- 6:42Speaker 4: Yeah exactly. It was all casual. Sorry, sorry, Ray judged incorrectly.
- 6:47Speaker 2: You'll get to see him today. It's six to one.
- 6:49Speaker 3: Yeah, he'll be in talking about a case that we'll
- 6:52Speaker 3: figure out.
- 6:53Speaker 4: When he gets in.
- 6:54Speaker 3: Yeah, but I did want to let everyone know if
- 6:56Speaker 3: you've never heard of the Mustard Seed before, I did
- 6:58Speaker 3: check with Kathy Baldwin, the executive director, and once again
- 7:02Speaker 3: just wanted to make sure they are They remain the
- 7:05Speaker 3: only furniture and clothing bank in the entire state of Florida.
- 7:09Speaker 2: So a lot of folks will talk about how great
- 7:11Speaker 2: it is.
- 7:11Speaker 3: When a family is able to transition out of a
- 7:13Speaker 3: homeless shelter and maybe get to their first apartment. But
- 7:16Speaker 3: the problem with that is you're pretty much leaving with
- 7:19Speaker 3: just the clothes on your back. You don't have bedding,
- 7:22Speaker 3: you don't have dishes and utensils and pots and pans
- 7:26Speaker 3: and pillows, blankets, all of those things. The Mustard Seed helps,
- 7:30Speaker 3: not just families, but veterans. Just a really, really great
- 7:34Speaker 3: resource for the local community. So again, congratulations to everyone
- 7:38Speaker 3: who helped us raise forty two eight hundred dollars.
- 7:43Speaker 4: By the way, I just want to let everyone listening
- 7:45Speaker 4: at home, that's not deb clapping.
- 7:47Speaker 2: That's a twerk. If you're wondering why we're not clapping
- 7:53Speaker 2: a lot.
- 7:53Speaker 3: I was gonna say, yeah, no, that it's because.
- 7:55Speaker 2: She said, you know, we break forty she twerks. So,
- 7:59Speaker 2: oh yeah, you No, you're welcome. I'm still you're welcome.
- 8:02Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, you'd have a better chance of twerking than
- 8:05Speaker 3: I do.
- 8:05Speaker 4: I don't know, I get it. You've you have been
- 8:10Speaker 4: on record multiple times of not having a rump. Exactly,
- 8:14Speaker 4: I all have. I also have no rump. There is
- 8:19Speaker 4: no butt. In fact, this probably between the three of
- 8:23Speaker 4: us we have one. We have one. But I would argue,
- 8:27Speaker 4: I would argue we are the most ass less audio
- 8:31Speaker 4: program maybe this part of this decade.
- 8:35Speaker 3: I'm gonna have to go out on a limb there,
- 8:36Speaker 3: and I think you're right. Yeah, I can't. I don't
- 8:39Speaker 3: think Jim has an ass.
- 8:41Speaker 4: I'm not gonna comment. Come on now you have to.
- 8:47Speaker 4: So Jim, now you have to. Oh it's I'll say this.
- 8:51Speaker 4: Jim is not in the same situation. I believe maybe
- 8:55Speaker 4: as us three. Wow, okyeah, I still came off weird.
- 9:01Speaker 2: So you checked him out?
- 9:02Speaker 4: No, I did, never checked out.
- 9:04Speaker 7: I don't know.
- 9:04Speaker 2: It sounds a little bit like you've checked him out.
- 9:06Speaker 2: I love to tell us more about his dairy. Yeah,
- 9:08Speaker 2: exactly what have you found?
- 9:10Speaker 4: Is it?
- 9:10Speaker 2: Is it round at the bottom?
- 9:11Speaker 4: Does it?
- 9:12Speaker 3: Does it have a lot of top shelf at heart shape?
- 9:14Speaker 3: Is it heart shaped?
- 9:16Speaker 4: I feel like I'm playing golf right now because I'm
- 9:18Speaker 4: in a trap. I am trapped. I'm just commenting on
- 9:23Speaker 4: our silhouettes collectively. That's it, no more, no less.
- 9:29Speaker 3: Well, I heard that Ross, you made a very late
- 9:31Speaker 3: appearance at the at the poker tournament Saturday night. I'm
- 9:34Speaker 3: sorry didn't get a chance to see you.
- 9:36Speaker 4: I was at the Orlando City game and had to
- 9:39Speaker 4: make an appearance for just real radio listeners exactly family
- 9:44Speaker 4: for Jack for the event.
- 9:46Speaker 2: He was there for the exciting finish. Ross helped we
- 9:49Speaker 2: call Raffle together and we auctioned off a seat at
- 9:53Speaker 2: the final table. Shout out to our best celebrity finish.
- 9:57Speaker 2: We had two air staff the final table.
- 10:01Speaker 4: You're kidding.
- 10:02Speaker 2: That was Jenna from Excel and Magic Wow. And also
- 10:06Speaker 2: who was convinced she'd be out in the first ten
- 10:08Speaker 2: minutes of the program, right, and then mel Taylor from
- 10:11Speaker 2: w JR R Wow. Well, she's a really good poker player, right,
- 10:14Speaker 2: she has her own event, but they have both been
- 10:17Speaker 2: guest co hosts on this show. They both reached the
- 10:20Speaker 2: final table. Congratulations, Yeah, that is awesome. There I go
- 10:24Speaker 2: to working again. Yeah. Also shout out to Sea Lane,
- 10:28Speaker 2: who I think finished in fourteenth place, and that mortgage
- 10:32Speaker 2: guy Don who was right there right until the end,
- 10:36Speaker 2: really right before the final table broke, and Ada in
- 10:39Speaker 2: our sales apartment also reached the final table.
- 10:41Speaker 3: Hot, damn. How long did you survived? Did you buy
- 10:45Speaker 3: in any times?
- 10:46Speaker 4: Or no?
- 10:47Speaker 2: I was actually doing well the hand I won off
- 10:50Speaker 2: of I knocked Ray and Kurt from the YouTube chat
- 10:54Speaker 2: out with the same hand. I had a set of
- 10:57Speaker 2: threes and ended up knocking them both out and then
- 11:00Speaker 2: rode that for a little while into the second half
- 11:02Speaker 2: after the break, and then I had a pair of jacks.
- 11:06Speaker 2: I moved in and para jacks weren't so lucky for me.
- 11:09Speaker 2: For the irony, I had a pair of bases.
- 11:12Speaker 3: But this was probably the most comfortable I ever felt
- 11:15Speaker 3: playing poker. Yeah, and that is independent of the fact
- 11:18Speaker 3: that my dealer was awesome because I got to show
- 11:20Speaker 3: him every one of my hands and he would tell
- 11:22Speaker 3: me yay or nay.
- 11:23Speaker 2: Oh funny. Yeah, that's why you sit right next to
- 11:25Speaker 2: the dealer.
- 11:26Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 11:26Speaker 2: And speaking of the dealers from fund Planners, oh, great people.
- 11:30Speaker 2: Luna and the team at fund Planners Jose ran the
- 11:32Speaker 2: tournament that night, and he and Fun Planners themselves. They've
- 11:36Speaker 2: been part of every single one of these, from the
- 11:39Speaker 2: very first one to five. They handle all the gaming action.
- 11:42Speaker 2: They do such a fantastic job which allows us to
- 11:45Speaker 2: just focus on everything other than that, right exactly, And
- 11:48Speaker 2: so that was a great You mentioned Kathy Baldwin, the
- 11:52Speaker 2: executive director at the Mustard Seed. Alicia Walker is her
- 11:57Speaker 2: right hand person. She kind of runs this event on
- 12:00Speaker 2: their behalf, so she is my counterpart over there and
- 12:04Speaker 2: did a great job. But also we have some pictures
- 12:07Speaker 2: they'll be going up in the Real Radio Facebook page.
- 12:10Speaker 2: Currently posted are the photo booth pictures, so if you
- 12:14Speaker 2: take a picture in the photo booth, that gallery is
- 12:16Speaker 2: now up, and then I will have the news Junkie
- 12:20Speaker 2: step and repeat photos. Thanks to Grace Imagery and then
- 12:24Speaker 2: Brian Price Photography took our pictures and Brook Steele took
- 12:28Speaker 2: the monsters, so we'll be adding those to the Real
- 12:30Speaker 2: Radio Facebook page over the next couple of days.
- 12:34Speaker 3: Well, thanks again to everyone who, like Jack said, if
- 12:37Speaker 3: you came out and played, if you been on the
- 12:39Speaker 3: Silent Auction or any of the Raffle items you helped
- 12:42Speaker 3: raise forty two eight hundred much needed dollars for one
- 12:46Speaker 3: of the best organizations in all of Central Florida, and
- 12:49Speaker 3: that would be The Mustard Seed.
- 12:50Speaker 4: And a big thanks to the texting service for understanding
- 12:53Speaker 4: where I'm coming from by letting us all know that
- 12:55Speaker 4: Jimmy has a BADONK country ass. So not alone, right,
- 13:00Speaker 4: I'm not crazy? Whatever, Man, I made it weird again.
- 13:03Speaker 2: Yeah you did, Yeah you did.
- 13:05Speaker 3: You brought it back right back to you checking out
- 13:07Speaker 3: our stalwart host back end.
- 13:09Speaker 4: Don't check it out.
- 13:10Speaker 2: I love the fact that, like this topic is overlaid
- 13:13Speaker 2: with our thank you for the poker tournament exactly.
- 13:17Speaker 3: We raise all this money for charity and it goes
- 13:19Speaker 3: right back to who has a button or not?
- 13:20Speaker 2: What a strange air check this will make. Speaking of
- 13:25Speaker 2: which we are, the people we do want to thank
- 13:27Speaker 2: are some of the people who donated prizes that allow
- 13:30Speaker 2: us to raise so much money in the Silent auction, Pyrospot, Fireworks,
- 13:34Speaker 2: Mountain Catering. That's Ryan Holmes, Bomb Denise, Wonderful, Lady Code Black.
- 13:40Speaker 2: I t every year Code Black comes through, Yeah, some
- 13:43Speaker 2: big prizes and then he donates a raffle prize and
- 13:46Speaker 2: then he buys raffle tickets to try and win it.
- 13:49Speaker 2: I love that guy. That's the best. Uh Kanya and
- 13:53Speaker 2: the crew at Black Cow. Oh yeah, the mature Manure.
- 13:56Speaker 2: They give us a couple of these several hundred dollars
- 13:59Speaker 2: gift basket. Huge, such a great item.
- 14:02Speaker 4: We can do the voice.
- 14:03Speaker 3: Oh yeah, you know, so mature manure. Sorry, it's darcy
- 14:08Speaker 3: to count with black House.
- 14:09Speaker 4: I love it too much not to ask. Tom.
- 14:12Speaker 2: We planned in Hollywood and Lydia Pisano with Mark stayin
- 14:16Speaker 2: real Estate may donate a couple of baskets every year.
- 14:19Speaker 2: Premium Outdoor Movies gave us Outdoor Movie and of course
- 14:22Speaker 2: Life Imaging.
- 14:24Speaker 4: With Life Imaging, he's such a hoot.
- 14:25Speaker 2: Not only a pair, but two different pairs of scans
- 14:29Speaker 2: for couples as well. And it was just such a
- 14:34Speaker 2: big item and helped us raise a lot of money
- 14:36Speaker 2: for charity.
- 14:37Speaker 3: And then, of course I'm sure you're already planning on
- 14:39Speaker 3: what you're gonna do for the for the Landmark twentieth
- 14:42Speaker 3: anniversary event.
- 14:43Speaker 2: I'm thinking maybe more celebs. You know, we we pretty
- 14:47Speaker 2: much the the in that room we have the eighteen
- 14:50Speaker 2: poker tables is what we can fit. So that's pretty
- 14:53Speaker 2: much we're max at that size. But I'm thinking maybe
- 14:55Speaker 2: just add more celebs because we've gotten over the nineteen years.
- 14:59Speaker 2: The thing is like we've had celebrities in the past,
- 15:01Speaker 2: and then you know, if they can't be in at
- 15:03Speaker 2: one year, like let's say Bob Fryars, Cot knoxwell both right,
- 15:07Speaker 2: we weren't there. They were at the first one, couldn't
- 15:09Speaker 2: be here and Tom Sorels, that's right, all from the beginning,
- 15:12Speaker 2: couldn't be here this weekend. However, you know, so we
- 15:16Speaker 2: added different celebrities, so you know, we've kind of grown
- 15:19Speaker 2: over the years. So well, I think we'll just blow
- 15:21Speaker 2: it out next year. And we've already got the date
- 15:24Speaker 2: of August fourteenth, twenty twenty seven.
- 15:29Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 15:29Speaker 3: You know you're an event planner when you one event
- 15:31Speaker 3: ends and you've already got the date in the books
- 15:33Speaker 3: for the next time.
- 15:34Speaker 2: This is the soonest I've ever done it. Usually it's
- 15:37Speaker 2: a couple months out. I'm like, hey, what do you
- 15:38Speaker 2: guys got over there? And I just email the Orlando
- 15:41Speaker 2: Science Center. I said, kudos to your team. The night
- 15:44Speaker 2: was fantastic.
- 15:45Speaker 4: It was what a great venue.
- 15:47Speaker 2: Everything went great. Give me a date for next year.
- 15:50Speaker 2: They said, how about the fourteenth of August. I said,
- 15:52Speaker 2: book it, book it, dan Ol, book it. Well, we're gonna,
- 15:55Speaker 2: like I said, we're going to keep you posted. Hopefully
- 15:57Speaker 2: we are going to see Jim Colbert today. Hopefully his jury,
- 16:00Speaker 2: his civic duty will be over soon. If not, Like
- 16:03Speaker 2: I said, we're gonna have Emily the Movie Girl coming
- 16:05Speaker 2: in the four o'clock hour Ross Thoughts extra early today.
- 16:09Speaker 2: I believe we're going to be doing that at four.
- 16:11Speaker 4: Or five jacks. Four o'clock for Ross thoughts, four o'clock
- 16:13Speaker 4: for Ross thoughts. So if you're stretching paget exactly.
- 16:16Speaker 3: So if you normally don't get a chance to hear
- 16:18Speaker 3: Ross thoughts, he's gonna give you an early treat.
- 16:20Speaker 4: For it already stretched. Bruh, that's kind of weird.
- 16:24Speaker 3: Brandon Kravitz with Sports and again, Attorney Ray Trendly from
- 16:27Speaker 3: TK Law wrapping up the show later on tonight. What
- 16:30Speaker 3: we're gonna do right now is take a quick break.
- 16:31Speaker 3: When we come back, we're gonna talk about candidates looking
- 16:34Speaker 3: for some last minute votes. The community is rallying around
- 16:38Speaker 3: a family after a deadly shooting, and the governor is
- 16:41Speaker 3: generating controversy with his thoughts on pizza. We'll talk about
- 16:46Speaker 3: that and more coming up next during JCS News. So
- 16:49Speaker 3: keep it right here on The Jim Culbert Show on
- 16:51Speaker 3: Real Radio one of four point one.
- 16:53Speaker 8: It's funnier either the fact that Ross thinks that Jim
- 16:56Speaker 8: Colbert has an absolute dump truck. Apparently no, the fact
- 17:00Speaker 8: that he met Jim Colbert very well might be in
- 17:03Speaker 8: the car listening to the fact that Ross thinks, oh,
- 17:06Speaker 8: he has an absolute dumb truck. And then we'll come
- 17:09Speaker 8: into the studio to comment about this. All right, I
- 17:12Speaker 8: can't wait for today.
- 17:15Speaker 9: Good afternoon, Colba cru Brian Rice from Mount Dora. What
- 17:19Speaker 9: an amazing event. Made it to the final table. My
- 17:22Speaker 9: wife and I had an amazing time, met all the
- 17:25Speaker 9: great people. One dinner with Faias, two days at the
- 17:30Speaker 9: Gaylord Palm.
- 17:31Speaker 4: Nice.
- 17:32Speaker 9: It's on and on and on. Today's Becca, my wife's birthday.
- 17:36Speaker 9: I love you baby, Happy birthday. What a freaking weekend
- 17:39Speaker 9: and what a great event. We will be back for sure.
- 17:42Speaker 4: I love you.
- 17:43Speaker 3: Happy birthday, Becca. Welcome back to the Jim Colbert Show.
- 17:46Speaker 3: Jim has jury duty. We sure do hope we get
- 17:49Speaker 3: to see him later on today though right, guys. Absolutely,
- 17:52Speaker 3: I want to hear all about his dumb truck.
- 17:54Speaker 4: Yeah, I want to check it out.
- 17:55Speaker 3: Check it out. You've got deb Jack and Ross. Her
- 17:58Speaker 3: words not mine, Oh no, oh, they were all yours.
- 18:01Speaker 4: I have never said anything about a DT.
- 18:03Speaker 2: Let's go ahead and do some JCS news.
- 18:07Speaker 1: It's time for JCS news. Wow, this guy gotta put
- 18:12Speaker 1: his name on everything.
- 18:13Speaker 4: It's in my contract ed.
- 18:14Speaker 1: Here's the news on the Jim Colber Show.
- 18:17Speaker 3: And JCS News is brought to you by that mortgage
- 18:20Speaker 3: guy Don who also made it to the final table
- 18:22Speaker 3: at the poker tournament. For those who did not get
- 18:24Speaker 3: a chance to hear, thanks to you, we helped raise
- 18:27Speaker 3: forty dollars for the Mustard Seed of Central Florida. Pretty good, right,
- 18:31Speaker 3: which is awesome, awesome. The bar has been set for
- 18:34Speaker 3: next year.
- 18:34Speaker 2: And shout out to Joe Wright. He normally comes every year.
- 18:38Speaker 2: He owns he's an electrician, owns his own company, was
- 18:42Speaker 2: there in the past couple of years, couldn't come this year,
- 18:44Speaker 2: but sent a big check until We want to thank
- 18:46Speaker 2: him for helping helping us reach that total.
- 18:48Speaker 3: Yeah, thank you so much. We hope we get to
- 18:50Speaker 3: see you next year. Okay, no surprise here. Florida's facing
- 18:53Speaker 3: another day of dangerous seat Every county in the state
- 18:56Speaker 3: is under a heat advisory. In fact, parts of the
- 18:59Speaker 3: Panhandle and Big Bend or under an extreme heat warning
- 19:02Speaker 3: where heat index values could reach one hundred and fifteen degrees.
- 19:06Speaker 3: Right now, it's ninety seven with it feels like of
- 19:08Speaker 3: one hundred and nine. Forecasters say the combination of triple
- 19:12Speaker 3: digit feels like temperatures and eyge humidity will significantly increase
- 19:16Speaker 3: the risk of heat related illnesses. Unfortunately, not a lot
- 19:19Speaker 3: of afternoon storms are possible. It feels humid on the
- 19:21Speaker 3: lower level, but apparently and the upper levels of the atmosphere,
- 19:24Speaker 3: it's just not humid enough to create storms.
- 19:27Speaker 4: But I am damp.
- 19:29Speaker 3: But where they do fall, it's not going to do
- 19:31Speaker 3: much to cool things down. Yeah, absolutely, And forecasters are
- 19:35Speaker 3: saying the heat is expected to continue through at least Wednesday.
- 19:40Speaker 4: All right.
- 19:40Speaker 3: The final push is on, with primary polls opening in
- 19:43Speaker 3: less than twenty four hours. While Republican front runner for governor,
- 19:47Speaker 3: Congressman Byron Donald's rallies in Sarasota and Plant City today
- 19:51Speaker 3: before heading south for a late afternoon rally and Sunny
- 19:54Speaker 3: Isles Beach. Democratic candidate David Jolly is looking for last
- 19:58Speaker 3: minute votes for a second day in Tampa.
- 20:01Speaker 4: I think there are three basic values in the party.
- 20:03Speaker 4: I'm fighting for the economy should work for everybody.
- 20:06Speaker 10: Government can do a little bit to improve our lives,
- 20:08Speaker 10: and everyone's right should be protected and their dignity celebrated.
- 20:10Speaker 3: Now, his running mate, Gwen Graham, meets Global Empowerment Mission
- 20:14Speaker 3: Columbia earthquake volunteers in de Ral this afternoon, before hitting
- 20:18Speaker 3: a Coral Gables phone bank this evening. Lieutenant Governor j
- 20:22Speaker 3: Collins will announce his running mate and the governor's race
- 20:25Speaker 3: late this afternoon in Palm Harbor. Republican gubernatorial candidate James
- 20:29Speaker 3: Fishback gives his quote closing argument, end quote in Clewiston tonight. Meanwhile,
- 20:34Speaker 3: Senator Ashley Moody and her Democratic competition Angie Nixon and
- 20:38Speaker 3: Alex Vindman were all making the rounds in South Florida
- 20:41Speaker 3: over the weekend.
- 20:43Speaker 2: All right, Florida drivers, vote yet I did not.
- 20:47Speaker 4: You did not do the early voting. I did not.
- 20:49Speaker 4: How about you?
- 20:50Speaker 2: Are you? Are you a traditionalist? Yeah, I'll go tomorrow
- 20:53Speaker 2: and vote, but you know, in the past I've voted.
- 20:58Speaker 2: I've done early voting, which I I like better than
- 21:01Speaker 2: mail in voting mail in voting. I just I did
- 21:04Speaker 2: it at a convenience, and then I felt like left out.
- 21:07Speaker 2: Yeah exactly. When I let you take home, I was like,
- 21:10Speaker 2: I got nothing to do.
- 21:10Speaker 3: Yeah, I want my stick exactly, I want my sticker.
- 21:15Speaker 2: But at least early I like actually going there doing
- 21:18Speaker 2: it in person.
- 21:19Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 21:19Speaker 3: Plus it's a lot more convenient because you don't have
- 21:21Speaker 3: to worry about where your precinct is or your specific
- 21:24Speaker 3: polling location.
- 21:25Speaker 4: For early voting.
- 21:25Speaker 2: Yeah, but tomorrow, remember it's not about those early voting precincts,
- 21:30Speaker 2: and you go to your regular precinct wherever that is.
- 21:33Speaker 2: It should be on your voter registration card. I know
- 21:35Speaker 2: they moved mine this year, so I have to go
- 21:38Speaker 2: to a different place. But it's you know, it's about
- 21:40Speaker 2: a half mile from my house.
- 21:41Speaker 3: I'm fine, very convenient, and hopefully you won't have to
- 21:45Speaker 3: fill up for that half mile drive.
- 21:47Speaker 2: I'll be all right.
- 21:48Speaker 3: Florida driver seeing a slight break at the pump. Heading
- 21:50Speaker 3: into the new week, Triple A reports the state wide
- 21:53Speaker 3: average for regular unleted is three eighty five a gallon
- 21:56Speaker 3: that's down two cents from Sunday, a penny lower than
- 21:59Speaker 3: a week ago, and eleven cents below last month's average.
- 22:02Speaker 3: Of course, we always look forward to your text messages
- 22:04Speaker 3: at seven seven zero three one telling us what you
- 22:07Speaker 3: see while you're out on the roads. The decline comes
- 22:10Speaker 3: even as crude oil prices climbed five percent last week,
- 22:13Speaker 3: settling at more than eighty two dollars a barrel on Friday.
- 22:17Speaker 3: Triple A says higher oil costs could put upward pressure
- 22:20Speaker 3: on gas prices if in the coming weeks, if that
- 22:23Speaker 3: trend continues, all right, The community is rallying behind a
- 22:27Speaker 3: grieving family in Orange County. Daryl Hill was shot to
- 22:30Speaker 3: death last week when he tried to break up a
- 22:32Speaker 3: fight between a man and a woman.
- 22:34Speaker 4: A tragic story, it really is.
- 22:36Speaker 3: The fifty six year old leaves behind a wife of
- 22:38Speaker 3: seventeen years named Suzanne, and three children, and since his death,
- 22:42Speaker 3: a GoFundMe page has raised over thirty seven thousand dollars
- 22:45Speaker 3: for his family, and another fundraiser is going to take
- 22:48Speaker 3: place tomorrow. So the Semmern Skateway in Castleburry is going
- 22:52Speaker 3: to donate a dollar from each price of admission to
- 22:56Speaker 3: Hill's family. Meanwhile, Suzanne tells Orlando Sentinel she takes some
- 23:00Speaker 3: so knowing this would be the way Daryl would want
- 23:02Speaker 3: to go as a helper. Yeah, but just tragic all
- 23:06Speaker 3: the way around.
- 23:07Speaker 2: Absolutely, you just hear nothing but good stories about this.
- 23:10Speaker 2: I know about him, you know, and a family left
- 23:12Speaker 2: behind without a dad, kids without a dad, wife without
- 23:15Speaker 2: a husband. But tomorrow, as you mentioned, at Semaran Skateway, yep.
- 23:18Speaker 2: And then the gofund me as well.
- 23:20Speaker 3: Yeah, and it's raised thirty seven thousand dollars and a
- 23:22Speaker 3: dollar from each price of admission will go toward the
- 23:25Speaker 3: Hills family. If you want to go to Semarron Skateway tomorrow. Meanwhile,
- 23:30Speaker 3: celebrities coming together to raise money for earthquake relief in
- 23:32Speaker 3: South America. Musicians Mark Anthony and Luis Fonsi headlined a
- 23:36Speaker 3: benefit concert last night in Miami at the Cassea Center.
- 23:39Speaker 3: Over thirty artists performed in the show, called uknudos Portnolos Nouestros.
- 23:44Speaker 2: There's no word yet on how much money was raised.
- 23:47Speaker 2: Thank You.
- 23:48Speaker 3: Jury selection underway today in the trial of the man
- 23:51Speaker 3: accused of committing a mass shooting in downtown Orlando on
- 23:53Speaker 3: Halloween prosecutors say Jalen Edgar open fire in twenty twenty four,
- 23:58Speaker 3: killing Tyreek Hill and Timmy the Schmidt Junior and wounding.
- 24:01Speaker 2: Several several others.
- 24:03Speaker 3: Edgar faces two counts of first degree murder and seven
- 24:06Speaker 3: counts of attempted first degree murder. His trial was delayed
- 24:10Speaker 3: after he raised mental health concerns, but a judge is
- 24:13Speaker 3: now allowing the case to move forward.
- 24:16Speaker 4: Dumb question, is that where Jim is right? You said,
- 24:19Speaker 4: is that the same process?
- 24:21Speaker 2: No, because he's in Lake County?
- 24:23Speaker 4: Got it? Sorry?
- 24:24Speaker 2: No, that's okay.
- 24:25Speaker 3: Where this would be an Orange County case, It'll be
- 24:27Speaker 3: interesting to find out. I'm assuming he must not be
- 24:30Speaker 3: doing anything criminal, because jury selection would have taken much longer.
- 24:34Speaker 4: I would imagine.
- 24:35Speaker 2: Yeah, oh, are we sure it's county. He's not on
- 24:39Speaker 2: a federal sitting for a federal grand jewelry.
- 24:41Speaker 4: He could be sitting on a federal Do we even
- 24:44Speaker 4: know if this guy changed his address Olbert? Yeah, yeah,
- 24:49Speaker 4: oh county? Oh no, oh no, he moves like a
- 24:54Speaker 4: nomn well.
- 24:55Speaker 3: Speaking of Lake County, a woman who was found unresponsive
- 24:58Speaker 3: inside her Amazon delivery vehicle in Fruitlent Park has been
- 25:01Speaker 3: identified Jayleen Gonzalez was found unconscious in her truck last
- 25:06Speaker 3: Monday on Clark Road. She later died at the hospital.
- 25:09Speaker 3: Her cause of death is still unknown and the Lake
- 25:12Speaker 3: County Sheriff's Office is still investigating. But of course, our
- 25:14Speaker 3: big fear was spent so hot lately. You know, in
- 25:19Speaker 3: and out of the vehicle hauling heavy packages. Somebody called saying, hey,
- 25:25Speaker 3: this Amazon truck hasn't moved in a really long time,
- 25:27Speaker 3: and that's been nice. Yeah, exactly. That's when you know
- 25:30Speaker 3: there's a problem. Yeah, all right, don't do this. Next one.
- 25:35Speaker 3: A person with the grenade is responsible for disrupting a
- 25:39Speaker 3: police station in Polk County. Lakeland Police a a well
- 25:42Speaker 3: meaning citizen brought a live grenade in yesterday that led
- 25:49Speaker 3: police to close this station, set up a perimeter, and
- 25:52Speaker 3: call the Tampa bomb Squad. After about ninety minutes, the
- 25:55Speaker 3: grenade was safely disposed of and no one was hurt.
- 25:57Speaker 3: The LPD says the grenade was probably from the Korean
- 26:01Speaker 3: War and it was found while cleaning out a relative's
- 26:04Speaker 3: personal items. Please say, hey, if you ever find a
- 26:06Speaker 3: suspicious device, just call them immediately and don't handle it yourself,
- 26:10Speaker 3: and don't put it in your car and.
- 26:12Speaker 2: Don't bring it to the push exactly.
- 26:15Speaker 4: Wow, So this guy just brought it in for like fundsies,
- 26:18Speaker 4: Like I'm trying to.
- 26:18Speaker 2: Get rid of it exactly. I don't know where to
- 26:20Speaker 2: bring it.
- 26:21Speaker 4: Hey, sarge, catch yeah, call also communicate, Hey, what does
- 26:26Speaker 4: this little pin do? All right?
- 26:28Speaker 3: The Brevard Zoo is calling on fishermen to be more
- 26:31Speaker 3: responsible with their gear. The zoo announced Saturday that two
- 26:34Speaker 3: loggerhead sea turtles had to be put down after they
- 26:36Speaker 3: were entangled and discarded fishing lines and hooks. A third
- 26:40Speaker 3: turtle had to have a flipper amputated and is making
- 26:43Speaker 3: guarded progress. There's hope that turtle can be rehabbed and
- 26:46Speaker 3: returned to the water at some point, but zoo officials
- 26:49Speaker 3: asked fishermen to leave the pier, beach, or river cleaner
- 26:53Speaker 3: than you found it, and refrain from fishing if you
- 26:55Speaker 3: do see a sea turtle in the area. Also, divers
- 26:58Speaker 3: and snorkelers are asked to remove any derelict fishing gear
- 27:02Speaker 3: that they find.
- 27:03Speaker 2: Come on, guys, yeah, come on, guys.
- 27:05Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 27:06Speaker 12: I know.
- 27:06Speaker 2: At least on the Lake Monroe in Sanford along the
- 27:10Speaker 2: pier there they have these canisters for old fishing lines. Oh,
- 27:14Speaker 2: that is awesome, and it's like every so and so
- 27:16Speaker 2: feet they'll have one of these so you can dispose
- 27:19Speaker 2: of your line properly so it doesn't become part of
- 27:21Speaker 2: the waterway and then end up being part of an animal. Yeah,
- 27:25Speaker 2: all right.
- 27:25Speaker 3: Despite the fact that financing deals haven't been reached yet
- 27:28Speaker 3: with the City of Tampa or Hillsboro County, the Tampa
- 27:30Speaker 3: Bay Rays have picked a comm Hunt Turner as the
- 27:34Speaker 3: contractors for their two point three billion dollars stadium on
- 27:38Speaker 3: the Hillsboro College campus. The firm is no stranger to
- 27:41Speaker 3: the area. They're the ones that help bild Troupacana Field
- 27:44Speaker 3: then repaired it after Hurricane Milton. They also built Raymond
- 27:48Speaker 3: James Stadium. Tampa City Council Chairman Allen Clinendon says there's
- 27:52Speaker 3: a lot of work to do though, before a financing
- 27:54Speaker 3: deal is finalized.
- 27:56Speaker 13: The City of Tampa, Hillsboro County and the Raised organization,
- 28:00Speaker 13: and it's got to be a win win win. If
- 28:01Speaker 13: it's not a win win win, if any one of
- 28:03Speaker 13: the legs of that school doesn't have a stable foundation,
- 28:08Speaker 13: it's not going to pass.
- 28:09Speaker 3: The team is now working on a permit to build
- 28:11Speaker 3: at Hillsboro College. They're hoping to have the stadium ready
- 28:14Speaker 3: for the twenty twenty nine season.
- 28:16Speaker 2: This is great. When I think about going to a
- 28:18Speaker 2: game to see the Tampa Rays, I think if only
- 28:22Speaker 2: it was further away from me.
- 28:24Speaker 4: Exactly, So this is perfect, perfect, isn't it? Yeah, exactly.
- 28:28Speaker 3: Way to get around the traffic and get people into
- 28:31Speaker 3: your stadium. One other sports note here, a Florida State
- 28:35Speaker 3: University student is in the company of golf Legends. Rising
- 28:39Speaker 3: senior Jack Whaley won the one hundred and twenty sixth
- 28:43Speaker 3: US Amateur yesterday at Marion Golf Club in Pennsylvania. He's
- 28:47Speaker 3: the first Seminole to ever win the tournament. Others who
- 28:50Speaker 3: have won the tournament include you know, little names may
- 28:52Speaker 3: have heard of, Bryson, d Chambeau, Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson,
- 28:56Speaker 3: Jack Nicholas, and Arnold Palmer. That name gets me every
- 29:03Speaker 3: single time.
- 29:04Speaker 4: Arnold Palmer, you kind of just rolled out three asses
- 29:08Speaker 4: and two angels exactly.
- 29:12Speaker 3: Now with the win, you know what this means, right ross.
- 29:15Speaker 3: With this win, Whaley is now able to play in
- 29:17Speaker 3: the Masters, the US Open at Pebble Beach, and the
- 29:20Speaker 3: British Open.
- 29:21Speaker 4: At Saint Andrew's next year. Never heard of those. That's awesome,
- 29:27Speaker 4: that is, isn't it? I thought, so, I'm just what
- 29:30Speaker 4: I'm just having golf is in the news.
- 29:32Speaker 3: Well, you know, I figured that would be either you
- 29:35Speaker 3: or Jimmy. Would you know appreciate what this young man
- 29:38Speaker 3: was able to accomplish? Since you guys are the golfers
- 29:40Speaker 3: of the show.
- 29:41Speaker 4: Yeah, and then we go, no, you are the pizza experts.
- 29:46Speaker 2: All right, what do you got what? Governor Ron golf?
- 29:50Speaker 2: I'm taking pizza.
- 29:52Speaker 3: Governor Ron DeSantis is generating controversy with with his thoughts
- 29:56Speaker 3: on pizza. So someone on X asks yesterday what is
- 30:00Speaker 3: the number one pizza style, and DeSantis, who graduated from Yale, responded,
- 30:07Speaker 3: new Haven.
- 30:08Speaker 4: This fool, I can't wait? What do wait?
- 30:10Speaker 2: Is it January first? When did we get rid of
- 30:12Speaker 2: this fool? I am so tired of him?
- 30:15Speaker 3: He adds New York has the best, the best pizza
- 30:17Speaker 3: outside New England, Chicago has the best outside the Northeast,
- 30:23Speaker 3: and Philadelphia is very underrated for pizza. Have you guys
- 30:26Speaker 3: ever even heard of New Haven or New England pizza?
- 30:30Speaker 4: Yes?
- 30:30Speaker 2: And you're really really yeah, you're kidding.
- 30:33Speaker 4: Yeah, Yeah.
- 30:35Speaker 3: Wow, it's very it's I've heard about it. I have
- 30:40Speaker 3: never heard about it. And Jack, you're from the northeast,
- 30:42Speaker 3: do you ever hear about it?
- 30:43Speaker 4: No?
- 30:43Speaker 2: Guess what. It's not a thing.
- 30:46Speaker 4: It's a thing. It's a thing in the last seven years.
- 30:50Speaker 4: And I'm really you go, I say last seven years,
- 30:54Speaker 4: like I even that's a ballpark guest. Now, because DeSantis
- 30:58Speaker 4: went to Yale, it wasn't seven years ago.
- 31:00Speaker 2: A much longer than that. Bit. Yeah, so it might
- 31:04Speaker 2: be a thing there, but it's a thing nowhere else, well,
- 31:07Speaker 2: as you can imagine.
- 31:07Speaker 3: As comments generated some debate, One person wrote, she has
- 31:11Speaker 3: had pizza in every state and she hates to say it,
- 31:13Speaker 3: but Ohio, what has the best pizza?
- 31:17Speaker 2: Oh that's crazier than the Santa's claim.
- 31:21Speaker 3: There was support for some pizza reas here in Florida,
- 31:24Speaker 3: and there was even a vote for Alaska pizza.
- 31:29Speaker 2: People like what they grew up with. It's gotta be it,
- 31:32Speaker 2: you know, you just get it's a comfort food for people.
- 31:34Speaker 2: You like what you grew up with.
- 31:36Speaker 4: Oh no, look at you giving up on all pizza. No, no, no,
- 31:40Speaker 4: no criticism. Why review it? Then?
- 31:42Speaker 2: I think they're all fools. Santas being the biggest one. However,
- 31:49Speaker 2: it's Jersey Pizza is going to be your best.
- 31:52Speaker 4: He's Kim Jong Dunn.
- 31:57Speaker 2: No New York style pizza.
- 32:00Speaker 4: There you go. You have no control over it exactly.
- 32:03Speaker 4: Opinions are mute.
- 32:06Speaker 3: They're pointless either way. That concludes your JCS news Lily.
- 32:12Speaker 2: Let's get pizza. We're gonna take a little break.
- 32:16Speaker 3: When we come back, we're gonna talk about We're gonna
- 32:18Speaker 3: keep it on the food note. Hershey is out with
- 32:21Speaker 3: their twenty twenty six Halloween pumpkin treats. We'll tell you
- 32:24Speaker 3: what's gonna be coming out and more so, keep it
- 32:26Speaker 3: here on the Jim Colper Show on Real Radio one
- 32:28Speaker 3: of four point one.
- 32:32Speaker 12: While Jim is away, j C shall play you hear me.
- 32:35Speaker 12: First off, I didn't get to tell you that, but
- 32:37Speaker 12: at the last live event one on fourth of July,
- 32:40Speaker 12: that hug that you gave me, I don't know what
- 32:41Speaker 12: I said. It's not for but cured some childhood in here,
- 32:44Speaker 12: like for real. But we're not going to gloss over
- 32:47Speaker 12: the fact that my boy was out here looking at
- 32:49Speaker 12: man Bud. We're definitely going to judge you on that.
- 32:53Speaker 12: My friend We're never letting that go. Just remember that Ross.
- 32:55Speaker 12: We're gonna love you guys.
- 32:56Speaker 14: Bye bye.
- 32:59Speaker 4: I didn't do that, Yeah you did. What's up?
- 33:03Speaker 15: JCS crew?
- 33:05Speaker 4: Concrete Mike, Hey, concrete Mike.
- 33:06Speaker 15: I'm just leaving a job site and wind the mirror
- 33:08Speaker 15: over here. My Channel nine app is showing ninety nine
- 33:12Speaker 15: degrees with the Heagen dicks of one hundred and twelve
- 33:14Speaker 15: in the sheet go out in the direct sunlight factor
- 33:18Speaker 15: and another fifteen degrees on that. You can do the math.
- 33:21Speaker 4: I don't thinking hot out here. I there's some storm
- 33:24Speaker 4: clouds moving up over here.
- 33:25Speaker 15: It looks like we're gonna get some ring.
- 33:27Speaker 4: Hopefully you do concrete mic, Hello everyone, Sippy Germany here.
- 33:31Speaker 4: You know.
- 33:31Speaker 2: One time I stopped at a gas station and the
- 33:34Speaker 2: guy hit this lady bet over the hood of the car.
- 33:36Speaker 2: He was beating her, bet over backwards, beating there, hitting her.
- 33:39Speaker 4: Grabbed him up and slammed him on the ground, and
- 33:41Speaker 4: then she jumped on me and scratched the hell out
- 33:43Speaker 4: of me. Yep, yeah, I ain't stopping her both.
- 33:49Speaker 3: Welcome back to the Jim Kolbert showing Real Radio one
- 33:51Speaker 3: oh four point one. Just got a text from Jim
- 33:53Speaker 3: he's still stuck at jury duty. We don't know if
- 33:56Speaker 3: and when we're gonna get to see him. At some
- 33:57Speaker 3: point today, hopefully we will. Wow, but you know you're
- 34:02Speaker 3: betting no, Yeah, no chance.
- 34:05Speaker 4: Yeah, thinking so the last time I had jury duty,
- 34:08Speaker 4: I was shook us to the core.
- 34:10Speaker 2: And also it took all day.
- 34:12Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what I'm assuming. I mean, it's already twenty
- 34:15Speaker 3: to four.
- 34:15Speaker 2: And he's what if he got released right now, it's
- 34:18Speaker 2: he wouldn't be here for another forty minutes. Yeah, he'd
- 34:21Speaker 2: be here about four thirty.
- 34:22Speaker 3: That's still plenty of time. Yeah, Jim, come on, Jim, Yeah,
- 34:26Speaker 3: get in here. I want to thank everyone who texted
- 34:28Speaker 3: us at seven seven zero three one. Apparently, Jack, you
- 34:31Speaker 3: and I are on the Uh, we're not nautilist. We're
- 34:34Speaker 3: not paying enough attention to what a lot of people
- 34:37Speaker 3: are saying. New Haven Pizza is the best New York
- 34:40Speaker 3: style pizza. Oh yeah, somebody else said, people think New
- 34:44Speaker 3: York is the only place for pizza. There's a lot
- 34:46Speaker 3: of other places that have fantastic pizza. New York thinks
- 34:48Speaker 3: they're the best on everything. Screw New York. New Haven
- 34:52Speaker 3: does have fantastic He's just jealous. It's a real thin
- 34:55Speaker 3: crust and a cold fired oven. Apparently that's what he's
- 34:58Speaker 3: also super special, so overrated. But Florida does have Anthony's
- 35:02Speaker 3: cold fire pizza.
- 35:03Speaker 4: This cold fired that's so overrated.
- 35:06Speaker 2: It's just like a pumpkin spice latte. It's just then
- 35:09Speaker 2: they get the chart.
- 35:10Speaker 4: You know what that is.
- 35:10Speaker 2: That's burnt Jimmy, Oh, that's flavor him and find oh
- 35:14Speaker 2: char char, No, that's burnt. That means a birth day
- 35:17Speaker 2: and it tastes like burnt. It tastes like you're looking
- 35:20Speaker 2: an ash stray. No, thank you, unreal. There was just
- 35:24Speaker 2: a tornado of hot takes.
- 35:26Speaker 4: That was right. There's so much passion. Also, you're dirty
- 35:30Speaker 4: as well on that statement. Dirty damn. You just referred
- 35:34Speaker 4: to coal fired pizza as the pumpkin spice latte of
- 35:39Speaker 4: the pizza community. That was nice.
- 35:43Speaker 2: I like that.
- 35:44Speaker 4: We just glossed over it.
- 35:45Speaker 16: I went.
- 35:47Speaker 4: Pantomime par.
- 35:50Speaker 3: I really can't say, because I've never had a pumpkin
- 35:52Speaker 3: spice latte.
- 35:54Speaker 4: Oh look at that. Yeah, it's see it's something about
- 35:58Speaker 4: just hosting the show. You just start judging.
- 36:03Speaker 2: I just have an opinion.
- 36:06Speaker 4: Listen, I'm mad enough to say, like a pumpkin spice latte.
- 36:08Speaker 4: But I'm not man enough to really come clean and
- 36:11Speaker 4: come to grips with the fact that I love the
- 36:13Speaker 4: sugar cookie latte. I said it again.
- 36:15Speaker 3: Well, I'm still not over the fact that you said
- 36:17Speaker 3: on your encrustables to warm them up.
- 36:19Speaker 4: Oh yeah, like a penguin baby, like a king penguin
- 36:23Speaker 4: up north. That's try two weeks away.
- 36:25Speaker 2: It's September.
- 36:26Speaker 4: Can you believe that? That means it's that that it is?
- 36:32Speaker 2: And HER's is also rolling out.
- 36:34Speaker 3: It's a Halloween candy including they're incredibly popular Halloween pumpkins.
- 36:40Speaker 3: Remember the lawsuit that was filed last year. It was
- 36:43Speaker 3: so stupid, so stupid. Do you remember where it was filed?
- 36:46Speaker 2: Just take a guess, Uh, Yankee Town, Nope, Florida. Well,
- 36:51Speaker 2: Yankee Town's in Florida. Oh is it okay?
- 36:54Speaker 4: Over there on the Gulf Coast plot twist, population like
- 36:59Speaker 4: four hundred and Well.
- 37:00Speaker 3: In twenty twenty five, the judge tossed that lawsuit, arguing
- 37:04Speaker 3: people could still enjoy the treats.
- 37:05Speaker 5: Uh.
- 37:06Speaker 3: Some people had filed the lawsuit saying the candies were
- 37:08Speaker 3: deceptive because the smiling pumpkin designs are on the wrappers,
- 37:13Speaker 3: but they're not on the actual candies.
- 37:14Speaker 4: Which is so stupid. I know.
- 37:17Speaker 3: So how many Reese's pumpkins will be made for Halloween
- 37:21Speaker 3: twenty twenty six? How many was Reesa's gonna be making?
- 37:25Speaker 4: I don't know. Not enough million, not enough, because I
- 37:29Speaker 4: know in a couple of months I'm going to buy
- 37:31Speaker 4: them in some CVS Walgreen. There you go, open it
- 37:35Speaker 4: up and it's just going to have a weird sheen
- 37:38Speaker 4: of white chocolate.
- 37:41Speaker 3: So Jack thought it's going to be ten million Reese's pumpkins.
- 37:45Speaker 4: I'll take you over. I'll go eleven million.
- 37:47Speaker 3: How about twenty six million? Woo, twenty six million?
- 37:51Speaker 4: Because I won. I'm not gonna He's not gonna ding.
- 37:54Speaker 2: No, no, he's very stingy with the ding. You were
- 37:57Speaker 2: less than a half, you were more than sixty percent off.
- 37:59Speaker 4: Yeah, I took the over. Whatever. Well.
- 38:04Speaker 3: Hershey's twenty twenty six Halloween lineup, dubbed hershey Ween, will
- 38:08Speaker 3: include twenty.
- 38:10Speaker 4: New and returning products. Is that hershey Ween? The porn? Yeah,
- 38:16Speaker 4: it is a pick the porn. Uh.
- 38:18Speaker 3: They're gonna have Jolly Rancher gummies, KitKat count and witch shapes.
- 38:23Speaker 3: The company is also introducing a Reese's Pumpkin bowl exclusively
- 38:27Speaker 3: on Amazon.
- 38:28Speaker 4: I've already had one of those.
- 38:29Speaker 3: Featuring one hundred and ten snack sized treats and a
- 38:33Speaker 3: reusable pumpkin shaped container. What is your favorite Halloween candy?
- 38:38Speaker 4: Ross, Ah, I'll probably go with like the reces Reese's
- 38:43Speaker 4: like mini cups with the tinfoil.
- 38:45Speaker 2: Oh okay, yeah, yeah, that's a good time check.
- 38:48Speaker 4: I enjoyed that. What do you like like black licorice?
- 38:53Speaker 17: No?
- 38:53Speaker 2: I do not like black licorice.
- 38:56Speaker 4: It is a.
- 38:58Speaker 2: Chocolate see all chocolate now pals in comparison to that
- 39:02Speaker 2: Cadbury dairy milk that Darrow gets us.
- 39:04Speaker 3: I know, because that's the real deal from h It's
- 39:07Speaker 3: so good. It is so good it has melt in
- 39:09Speaker 3: your mouth.
- 39:10Speaker 2: But you know, Reese's peanut butter cups are good. Although,
- 39:14Speaker 2: and the reason, like one of the heirs to reesis
- 39:16Speaker 2: or the namesakes, he was suing them because they messed
- 39:20Speaker 2: with the formula. Yeah, the peanut butter formula. Yeah, exactly, exactly.
- 39:24Speaker 3: So well, it turns out twenty two percent favor Reese's
- 39:27Speaker 3: pumpkins as their top Halloween product.
- 39:31Speaker 2: I just know of the product I don't even remember
- 39:33Speaker 2: ever eating one. I don't it's relative. I thought it
- 39:37Speaker 2: was relatively new. Do you remember from the pumpkin?
- 39:40Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 39:40Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, dude around while.
- 39:42Speaker 4: Yeah, it comes with two pumpkins, or you can get
- 39:43Speaker 4: the individual like a little The fun signs is just
- 39:46Speaker 4: like one pumpkin. Not a fan and I'll die on
- 39:51Speaker 4: this hill.
- 39:52Speaker 2: I'm not a fan.
- 39:53Speaker 4: You're willing to die?
- 39:54Speaker 2: Well, then is it the chocolate peanut.
- 39:57Speaker 4: I'm at the right place. But yeah, the chocolate the
- 40:02Speaker 4: peanut butter ratio is vastly like before, we were like,
- 40:05Speaker 4: it's all the same thing.
- 40:07Speaker 2: No, it's not.
- 40:07Speaker 4: Sit down, it's not exactly.
- 40:10Speaker 3: There's there's a better chocolate peanut butter ratio with the
- 40:13Speaker 3: peanut butter cups.
- 40:14Speaker 2: Yeah, you know what I like better than that now
- 40:16Speaker 2: the latest cake. And it's also my it's the same
- 40:18Speaker 2: as my favorite ice cream Twigs.
- 40:22Speaker 4: Oh yeah, I love Twigs. It's great. I love Twigs. Yeah,
- 40:27Speaker 4: it's fun because it's like a bipartisan dessert, you know,
- 40:31Speaker 4: left and right, all in the same back. It's pretty
- 40:34Speaker 4: cool when your candy bar agrees exactly, a just meets
- 40:37Speaker 4: in the middle. Maybe we can get there again. Someday.
- 40:40Speaker 3: What we're gonna do right now is take a quick break,
- 40:42Speaker 3: but we'll be back. So keep it right here.
- 40:43Speaker 2: On Real Radio one of four point one.
- 40:49Speaker 3: Good even cruise here, miss you.
- 40:53Speaker 16: Jim.
- 40:54Speaker 18: You mentioned the sea turtles a few years ago. I'm
- 40:56Speaker 18: down to Pontsu the fishing, and I thought I maybe
- 40:59Speaker 18: a tire. I was trying to get my rig back
- 41:01Speaker 18: because they're like ten twelve buffs.
- 41:03Speaker 4: And ended up being longer about ninety pounds.
- 41:06Speaker 18: With fishing, I wrapped around his right flipper.
- 41:09Speaker 2: I was able to contract the ring time center.
- 41:11Speaker 18: We saved it. They named Avocado. About six months later
- 41:14Speaker 18: they released him. What a great story.
- 41:18Speaker 19: Hey Jack, tell us where you get this Twig's ice cream.
- 41:23Speaker 20: I have looked for it everywhere, including public, and cannot
- 41:28Speaker 20: find it.
- 41:30Speaker 2: Okay, so here's the deal. She said, publics at all.
- 41:33Speaker 2: The it's not at public, so it's not at all
- 41:34Speaker 2: thee wow. I have found it in two places, and
- 41:37Speaker 2: I've only found it in like the court size. You
- 41:41Speaker 2: can't not even a half gallon. It's like a pint
- 41:44Speaker 2: or court whatever. I have seen an individual serving size.
- 41:49Speaker 4: When you're going through something.
- 41:52Speaker 2: Through that. I've seen it in two places.
- 41:55Speaker 4: Win Dixie, which is a better price, and also at
- 41:58Speaker 4: wah Wah they have Yeah, I've seen it there as well.
- 42:01Speaker 2: For Twix, Wow, I think i've seen KitKat.
- 42:05Speaker 4: It plays.
- 42:06Speaker 2: KitKat is not as good as the twixts ice cream.
- 42:08Speaker 2: You gotta have the caramel, yes, without a doubt.
- 42:11Speaker 4: Absolutely.
- 42:11Speaker 2: But I've seen it at Winn Dixie in their ice
- 42:14Speaker 2: cream freezer in uhhah Wah. That's amazing.
- 42:17Speaker 3: You'd figure it would be at all of the big
- 42:19Speaker 3: grocery stores.
- 42:20Speaker 2: Yeah. I don't know why it's not bigger. I don't
- 42:23Speaker 2: know why they don't do larger sizes. It is so
- 42:26Speaker 2: damn good.
- 42:27Speaker 4: I'm gonna have to give that a try.
- 42:29Speaker 3: Oh you should welcome back to the Jim Culbert Show,
- 42:32Speaker 3: Real Radio one oh four point one.

- 42:44Speaker 3: they're gonna hold us until five. I wouldn't get there
- 42:48Speaker 3: until six or later. So you called it jack.
- 42:51Speaker 4: Yep, I knew it.
- 42:53Speaker 2: He planned that.
- 42:55Speaker 4: Does he have to go back tomorrow?

- 43:43Speaker 3: Let's get some Ross thoughts.
- 43:45Speaker 4: It's weird sided, it's funny, Morgan's guy down.
- 43:49Speaker 1: Sometimes it's Ross that's the Man's felt like sauce.
- 43:54Speaker 4: That's the hero. It's Ross thoughts always. And one of
- 43:57Speaker 4: my personal best friends, honestly, that mortgage guy Don just has.
- 44:02Speaker 4: He's one of the most charming people I've ever Oh.
- 44:05Speaker 2: He's a good hang.
- 44:06Speaker 4: What I saw about the poker tournament he gave me
- 44:08Speaker 4: easily like a top five hug of the last twenty years.
- 44:11Speaker 4: Of my life. Oh wait a minute, what airborne? Airborne?
- 44:16Speaker 4: He's a big guy, I know, and he picked me
- 44:19Speaker 4: up off my feet, and I gotta tell you I
- 44:21Speaker 4: felt taken care of. Oh he will. We're very serious
- 44:29Speaker 4: aspects of your life when it comes to your mortgage.
- 44:32Speaker 4: If you don't know anything about a refi or reverse
- 44:35Speaker 4: mortgage or anything like that, and if you were trying
- 44:37Speaker 4: to pursue being a better adult like myself that mortgage
- 44:41Speaker 4: guy don dot com. Now, guys, this is a rarity
- 44:46Speaker 4: of four o'clock, a little matinee of a rostar.
- 44:49Speaker 3: Yeah, it is normally this set For those who don't know,
- 44:52Speaker 3: this would normally happen at six pm.
- 44:54Speaker 4: And usually I try to make rosst Off somewhat of
- 44:58Speaker 4: an evergreen thing and not part of the I try
- 45:02Speaker 4: my best. Sometimes I fall to it, but I don't
- 45:04Speaker 4: want it to be so trendy. And in the topic
- 45:07Speaker 4: I kind of wanted to last for a little bit.
- 45:09Speaker 4: Absolutely today do I'm breaking That doesn't matter. This will
- 45:13Speaker 4: not be evergreen because recently something just happened for all
- 45:18Speaker 4: of the families across the Great Country. Ah, kids are
- 45:22Speaker 4: back in school, and I thought it would be cool
- 45:26Speaker 4: just take a moment. If you're listening to this right now,
- 45:29Speaker 4: if you're out in traffic, if you're driving, if you
- 45:31Speaker 4: can hear this, take a moment. Go back to eighth
- 45:36Speaker 4: grade to ninth grade, summer with it. Okay, we'll elaborate
- 45:40Speaker 4: on that. We'll get to the bottom of that. They're dead.
- 45:44Speaker 4: But Jack, are you are you there?
- 45:46Speaker 2: I'm here, I'm kinda you're ready.
- 45:50Speaker 4: You want to hear what I got?
- 45:51Speaker 2: So I'm kind of find inspirational music.
- 45:53Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, because it's because you need inspiration, right then,
- 45:58Speaker 4: eighth to ninth grade.
- 46:00Speaker 2: Tell me if this inspires.
- 46:09Speaker 4: I mean, if you listen to this on the bus
- 46:13Speaker 4: in high school, you're probably you might get punked.
- 46:19Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. We listened to Pink Floyda, but.
- 46:23Speaker 4: Going from it that, yeah, that's way cooler. I think
- 46:26Speaker 4: I was listening to a lot of corn.
- 46:28Speaker 2: Oh really, yeah, that's pretty cool too.
- 46:30Speaker 4: But I thought it would be really important and you know,
- 46:34Speaker 4: kind of yeah, yeah, to kind of get into a
- 46:38Speaker 4: little motivational vibe for all the kids going back into school.
- 46:41Speaker 4: We did this last week on Good Sauce with Ross
- 46:44Speaker 4: and Joel and boy, let me tell you it was
- 46:46Speaker 4: a motivational mental exercise. Really, yeah, because if you were
- 46:50Speaker 4: trying to inspire people, like kids are back in school,
- 46:55Speaker 4: there's summer just ended.
- 46:57Speaker 2: That's right.
- 46:58Speaker 4: You do you remember that? It was palpable, it was
- 47:01Speaker 4: you could remember it. It was icis, it was hot,
- 47:08Speaker 4: it was pools, it was first crushes. It was fruit
- 47:11Speaker 4: roll ups and fruit gushers, a lot of fruit and
- 47:15Speaker 4: a lot of high fruit corn syrup. But those were
- 47:19Speaker 4: the days. Do you remember the first time you recognized
- 47:22Speaker 4: the eighth grade the ninth grade summer when you had
- 47:25Speaker 4: glass when you had glass bottles filled with coca cola,
- 47:30Speaker 4: And that was like kind of the first time you recognized, like,
- 47:32Speaker 4: you know, why is this different?
- 47:33Speaker 20: Right?
- 47:34Speaker 4: Oh? Yeah, eighth grade, the ninth grade summer is the
- 47:37Speaker 4: start of your formative years. And if you are listening
- 47:40Speaker 4: to this right now, if you're twelve thirteen, buckle up,
- 47:42Speaker 4: because this segment is for you. I know our target audience.
- 47:45Speaker 2: Jack say aloud, say proud, Hey, they're all texting me, Hey,
- 47:51Speaker 2: how come we can't see ross on YouTube?
- 47:53Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 47:53Speaker 4: Exactly. It's because eighth grade, the ninth grade is such
- 47:59Speaker 4: a special time. And if I could go ahead and
- 48:03Speaker 4: try to drab eighth grade to ninth grade's brains and
- 48:07Speaker 4: their attention just kind of give them heads up of like, dude,
- 48:11Speaker 4: this is why all the movies are made out of
- 48:14Speaker 4: these next four years. Yep, it's an entire genre. It's
- 48:19Speaker 4: what Jack kind of ruined for me. But then I
- 48:22Speaker 4: had to rebuild and make special all over again by
- 48:25Speaker 4: finding out that everyone loves those years because those are
- 48:27Speaker 4: your formative years just biologically speaking. And I'll throw this
- 48:31Speaker 4: out here as well, if you are in your thirties
- 48:35Speaker 4: to actually, if you're just an adult, and if you've
- 48:39Speaker 4: ever said, oh, what is this high school? Is this
- 48:43Speaker 4: high school drama? Yeah, you're an idiot. How's that for
- 48:47Speaker 4: a take, Because I'll tell you why you're saying that,
- 48:51Speaker 4: because high school. Listen up, eighth grade to ninth graders, right,
- 48:55Speaker 4: we're all still in that mindset. Because if you have
- 48:58Speaker 4: ever thought it was just high school drama, it's because
- 49:01Speaker 4: high school was the first time you were introduced to
- 49:04Speaker 4: someone that you were inevitably not going to like. And
- 49:07Speaker 4: high school is the very first time that someone was
- 49:10Speaker 4: going to inevitably look at you and not like you. Right,
- 49:15Speaker 4: And just like the real world, that's inevitable, that's gonna happen,
- 49:20Speaker 4: and I would I would tell eighth grade to ninth
- 49:23Speaker 4: graders right in that summer sweet spot, like, hey, what
- 49:27Speaker 4: you do after that? How you react to that inevitable
- 49:31Speaker 4: moment of someone not liking you and you not liking them.
- 49:35Speaker 4: That's that's where the goods are. That's where you find
- 49:38Speaker 4: out a lot about yourself. Where that's where you grow up. You,
- 49:43Speaker 4: you are, you. You've hit a wall, and now let's
- 49:47Speaker 4: find out do you go through the wall, do you
- 49:49Speaker 4: go around the wall, or do you go a completely
- 49:51Speaker 4: different direction. There's so many things that are about to
- 49:54Speaker 4: happen for all an entire new generation of kids. And yeah,
- 49:58Speaker 4: if it sounds like I'm still a young it's because
- 50:01Speaker 4: I am. And I can't stop thinking about Like, man,
- 50:04Speaker 4: we just churn out these formative years for generation after generation.
- 50:10Speaker 4: And it's right down the street out of high school,
- 50:12Speaker 4: where there's Friday night lights happening, there's a first kiss happening.
- 50:17Speaker 4: Right there's a cool ass teacher that's getting underpaid, but
- 50:21Speaker 4: the kids absolutely love. Shout out to that teacher in
- 50:25Speaker 4: my high school, mister Bell. You know how good of
- 50:27Speaker 4: a teacher he was? I never had him. Oh that's
- 50:32Speaker 4: how good of a teacher. This guy was really Yeah.
- 50:35Speaker 4: I was just kind of known and I was popular
- 50:37Speaker 4: in high school. So this guy always came up to
- 50:40Speaker 4: me and goes, how are you doing, dance guy?
- 50:42Speaker 2: Oh, dance guy.
- 50:44Speaker 4: Al Right, it was a dancer in high school. But
- 50:46Speaker 4: that's not what the segment's about. What the segment is
- 50:49Speaker 4: about is that all of these, all of these young brains,
- 50:54Speaker 4: all of these they're not young adults. There's still kids.
- 50:58Speaker 4: Because you, if you're still in that mindset, remember that
- 51:02Speaker 4: first day of high school and you just looked at
- 51:04Speaker 4: a beard for the first time and you went, whoa, No,
- 51:08Speaker 4: the nuns had those when I was in middle school.
- 51:10Speaker 2: Well, but like I just remember, the fellow students didn't.
- 51:14Speaker 4: And when they do, you're like.
- 51:16Speaker 9: The may.
- 51:18Speaker 4: I mean, it's like Jack was there and then I
- 51:22Speaker 4: see you see a tattoo. Your freshman year of high school,
- 51:26Speaker 4: You're like, am I in prison? Yes? It can be scary,
- 51:30Speaker 4: it could be daunting. You're the kid that's walking in
- 51:34Speaker 4: trying to get your locker to work. Try to get
- 51:36Speaker 4: your locker to work.
- 51:37Speaker 2: You gotta go past the number to the first time.
- 51:39Speaker 4: You're gonna be the kid that is wearing the backpack
- 51:42Speaker 4: that makes you look three foot five exactly. You look
- 51:46Speaker 4: so small in that excel jam sport that freshman year,
- 51:50Speaker 4: and then fast forward. High school gives you one of
- 51:53Speaker 4: the not for everyone, And I get why it's not
- 51:55Speaker 4: for everyone. But the one thing that high school does
- 51:59Speaker 4: give you is the experience of looking back at the
- 52:02Speaker 4: freshman class when you are a senior and go, wow,
- 52:07Speaker 4: I don't remember them being so small.
- 52:09Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I know, it's crazy.
- 52:12Speaker 4: It is an experience. It is as Americana for me
- 52:16Speaker 4: as it can get when it comes to the public
- 52:19Speaker 4: high school system. Enjoy the Friday night lights. Welcome back
- 52:23Speaker 4: to school. Try to make the most of it if
- 52:26Speaker 4: you can. I know it's almost impossible, especially if you
- 52:28Speaker 4: hate it, but you'll look back on it for the
- 52:31Speaker 4: rest of your life, whether you like it or not.
- 52:33Speaker 2: Instead of commencement speeches, Ross is starting a new thing
- 52:36Speaker 2: of the back to school speech. I think he is.
- 52:39Speaker 2: He's starting a whole new tradition.
- 52:40Speaker 4: Welcome back to school. Try to do good. It does
- 52:44Speaker 4: kind of matter more than I would like to admit.
- 52:46Speaker 4: But you will never forget these next four years. And
- 52:51Speaker 4: if you're a senior, you'll never forget the last three
- 52:54Speaker 4: and this last year. Yeah, man, that's what you looked
- 52:58Speaker 4: like your freshman year. Yeah, exactly. Nerves and all. And
- 53:01Speaker 4: those are your Ross thoughts, brought to you by that
- 53:03Speaker 4: mortgage guide down. I'm out.
- 53:05Speaker 3: Peace, awesome, Ross, Thank you so much. We're gonna take
- 53:08Speaker 3: a little break. When we come back. We're going to
- 53:10Speaker 3: talk to Emily the movie girl and get her reviews
- 53:12Speaker 3: on some flicks that she's seen recently. So keep it
- 53:15Speaker 3: on The Jim Culbert Show on Real Radio. One of
- 53:17Speaker 3: four point one.
- 53:21Speaker 21: Growing sideburns in seventh grade was the ultimate in I'm
- 53:26Speaker 21: Getting Older. Yeah, ooh, you got sideburns at seventh grade?
- 53:33Speaker 4: Mine came in at sixth. Hey, that's Jim Colbert over there. Hey, Jimmy,
- 53:38Speaker 4: come here for a sega?
- 53:39Speaker 22: Would you?
- 53:46Speaker 4: Ros said?
- 53:49Speaker 2: Dump truck?
- 53:49Speaker 4: Sounds like we go. What's going on? JCS crew? Great show.
- 53:54Speaker 3: We had a lot of fun on Saturday, Christy and
- 53:56Speaker 3: I enjoyed it.
- 53:59Speaker 17: Jack.
- 54:00Speaker 5: That's how frugal you are.
- 54:01Speaker 13: I can't believe you're just throwing those orange piels away
- 54:03Speaker 13: and you're not using them for your old fashions for later.
- 54:06Speaker 4: What's up man?
- 54:08Speaker 2: Out now that they're stalking you or anything? It's weird
- 54:12Speaker 2: when people get to watch you eat.
- 54:14Speaker 4: I know, however, a good opportunity to let everybody know
- 54:18Speaker 4: that you can watch us on.
- 54:19Speaker 2: YouTube on YouTube YouTube slash Jim Colbert Show, even during
- 54:23Speaker 2: the breaks. Yeah, you can watch us eat or whatever
- 54:26Speaker 2: we're doing exactly and throw their orange peels away.
- 54:28Speaker 4: And sometimes I will.
- 54:30Speaker 2: You know, I already have some saved at home for
- 54:32Speaker 2: my old fashion and I'm good and probably till the weekend,
- 54:35Speaker 2: so you know, maybe on Friday, I'm saving orange piels again.
- 54:38Speaker 3: Okay, but you're not going to dig those out of
- 54:39Speaker 3: the garbage. No, no, no, okay. Welcome back to The
- 54:42Speaker 3: Jim Colbert Show, Real Radio one to four point one.
- 54:45Speaker 3: Jim is stuck at jury duty today. Hopefully he'll be
- 54:48Speaker 3: back with us tomorrow. You've got deb Jack and Ross
- 54:51Speaker 3: and every Monday at this time, we like to talk
- 54:53Speaker 3: to you.
- 54:53Speaker 4: Emily the movie Girl.
- 54:56Speaker 1: Her name is Emily, she likes movie She's a girl.
- 55:02Speaker 1: Next time, Emily the movie Girl on the Jim Colberg Show.
- 55:07Speaker 4: Put yours together for Emily the movie Dad. How you doing?
- 55:14Speaker 14: I am so good?
- 55:15Speaker 10: It's how much have you guys been ragging on Jim
- 55:19Speaker 10: since he's out today?
- 55:20Speaker 2: Every segment.
- 55:21Speaker 4: Gonna say he started a three what do you consider
- 55:24Speaker 4: ragging because I accidentally complimented him talking about his butt.
- 55:28Speaker 3: Well yeah yeah, he talked about how he has a
- 55:32Speaker 3: dump truck for a butt.
- 55:33Speaker 4: Never said that. All I was saying is that the
- 55:35Speaker 4: three of us have no butt cheeks whatsoever. Like collectively,
- 55:39Speaker 4: between deb Jack and myself, we had butt and I
- 55:43Speaker 4: try to give a pause there, okay, for a reason
- 55:46Speaker 4: we left from no aceto. There you go, we have
- 55:49Speaker 4: one cheek. Dude.
- 55:51Speaker 10: Well, thanks for having me. I guess I don't please
- 55:54Speaker 10: please don't judge mine.
- 55:56Speaker 4: Also Jim, just I thought Jim has out of us
- 55:59Speaker 4: four the uh the rounded. Let's talk movies. We're talking
- 56:05Speaker 4: oh good good save right.
- 56:07Speaker 3: Yeah yeah yeah, Well you were saying, how many times
- 56:11Speaker 3: did you go to a movie theater last week?
- 56:13Speaker 14: Three times?
- 56:15Speaker 10: Three times, and then this week I'm going four times.
- 56:18Speaker 14: There is so much coming out.
- 56:19Speaker 10: There's still other movies that, like, I won't be able
- 56:21Speaker 10: to catch this week because I've used all of my
- 56:23Speaker 10: amc A list reservations. You're saying so much content.
- 56:27Speaker 2: Thank you for that, because last night I was comparing
- 56:30Speaker 2: the Regal program, the Regal Unlimited with the AMC A List, Yes,
- 56:36Speaker 2: and now for some people it's just the theater that's
- 56:40Speaker 2: near you. For me, I kind of live in between
- 56:43Speaker 2: a Regal and an AMC, and I was trying to
- 56:46Speaker 2: decide what one's best. What do you like about the
- 56:48Speaker 2: A List?
- 56:49Speaker 12: I love.
- 56:50Speaker 10: I mean, it's very rare that anyone would go see
- 56:53Speaker 10: up to four movies a week. Even for me, I'm like,
- 56:56Speaker 10: four movies is a lot.
- 56:59Speaker 4: Yeah, it's like a.
- 57:01Speaker 14: Second job just about.
- 57:03Speaker 10: But I mean, I think you're right in that proximity
- 57:06Speaker 10: probably plays a huge factor. With AMC A List, you
- 57:09Speaker 10: don't pay any service fees and you don't pay for
- 57:12Speaker 10: any of the upgrades versus with Regal. I don't know
- 57:16Speaker 10: about the service fees, but I know with the Regal
- 57:18Speaker 10: unlimited anytime it's basically anything other than a standard screening,
- 57:22Speaker 10: like if it's three D Imax whatever, you have to
- 57:25Speaker 10: pay the difference, you pay extra.
- 57:27Speaker 2: And I believe they charge fifty cents to book online
- 57:30Speaker 2: where oh wow, AMC list it's included.
- 57:33Speaker 14: Right, So all that adds up, I think.
- 57:34Speaker 2: So here's the deal. All my everything in me says
- 57:37Speaker 2: you gotta go A list, And my daughter has Regal
- 57:40Speaker 2: and she's like, dad, we can see movies together. So
- 57:44Speaker 2: get what I want and be a bad dad or
- 57:48Speaker 2: give in like I have all my life to these
- 57:51Speaker 2: kids who get everything.
- 57:52Speaker 14: Well, how often does your daughter go to.
- 57:54Speaker 4: See movies too often? Okay? Well no talking right.
- 58:01Speaker 2: Not as much as you. She goes about once a week.
- 58:03Speaker 14: That's great.
- 58:04Speaker 10: Yeah, I mean yeah, if my dad was closer, he'd
- 58:07Speaker 10: probably go to see movies with me more often.
- 58:09Speaker 4: But my dad. Yeah, you don't think all that as
- 58:15Speaker 4: you're right in the middle of wondering what direction you're
- 58:19Speaker 4: going to go. Yeah, you're saying all to a thing
- 58:22Speaker 4: that like you're in the middle of.
- 58:24Speaker 2: I want to get it. I want to get IMAX
- 58:26Speaker 2: and book online. I want to book online without having
- 58:28Speaker 2: to pay fifty cents every movie if I'm already paying there.
- 58:32Speaker 10: How likely would your daughter be to switch to AMC
- 58:35Speaker 10: A list?
- 58:36Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what this conversation needs to be had on
- 58:38Speaker 2: the drive tonight.
- 58:40Speaker 14: I think, I think, I think you need to convince
- 58:42Speaker 14: her to get a list.
- 58:42Speaker 10: This is coming from someone that had a list I
- 58:45Speaker 10: think since twenty nineteen, like when it first started yep,
- 58:49Speaker 10: and then before that.
- 58:51Speaker 14: I had movie Pass when that was a thing.
- 58:52Speaker 4: Before they want to.
- 58:53Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, a lot of people will never forgive that
- 58:58Speaker 3: movie past fiasco.
- 59:00Speaker 2: Well it was hard, but not the it's not I've
- 59:03Speaker 2: tried it. It's a pain in the ass to use
- 59:05Speaker 2: and to book and all that sub especially if if
- 59:08Speaker 2: you're not going by yourself, you're trying to get seats
- 59:10Speaker 2: next to each other. It's just a hassle. The old
- 59:12Speaker 2: way was better, but they couldn't sustain it. It was
- 59:15Speaker 2: too easy, and if you were paid monthly like I was,
- 59:18Speaker 2: I got my money out of it. For people like
- 59:21Speaker 2: Sabrina at the time, she bought the annual membership, so
- 59:24Speaker 2: when they went under the first time, she lost out.
- 59:26Speaker 3: And she had like literally just bought it and then
- 59:29Speaker 3: like the next day or it seemed like within days,
- 59:31Speaker 3: they went under.
- 59:33Speaker 10: So yeah, because there was no way for them to
- 59:35Speaker 10: sustain making any kind of profit.
- 59:37Speaker 3: I think to wrap this up neatly, I think Jack
- 59:40Speaker 3: needs to buy his daughter an AMC A List AMC
- 59:44Speaker 3: A List membership.
- 59:46Speaker 2: This thing is broken.
- 59:46Speaker 4: Oh wait alone, I think we should talk about a movie. Ah,
- 59:53Speaker 4: oh see where I was coming from? See any movies
- 59:58Speaker 4: this way? Yeah?
- 59:58Speaker 10: I did, Okay, So the first one I saw was
- 1:00:02Speaker 10: End of oak Street of it.
- 1:00:06Speaker 4: Yes, I heard dinosaurs like hook up in it. That's
- 1:00:10Speaker 4: the only thing I know.
- 1:00:12Speaker 14: Yes, that is very true. There is a Yesler.
- 1:00:16Speaker 4: Alert if you're just joining us, I'm not talking about
- 1:00:19Speaker 4: the villages. Sorry fire. Yeah, yeah, there's actually they're all
- 1:00:25Speaker 4: great people out there, but the joke was right there,
- 1:00:27Speaker 4: so yes.
- 1:00:28Speaker 14: So uh.
- 1:00:30Speaker 10: This was my first time seeing a movie directed by
- 1:00:33Speaker 10: David Robert Mitchell and he is the same director that
- 1:00:37Speaker 10: did It Follows.
- 1:00:38Speaker 4: Ah and j.
- 1:00:41Speaker 10: Yes, yes, which you know he can't really defend himself today.
- 1:00:45Speaker 10: But I did actually watch It Follows literally last night
- 1:00:49Speaker 10: because I was like, okay and off oak Street had
- 1:00:51Speaker 10: some stuff going on. I want to see you at
- 1:00:54Speaker 10: least like what he's most famous for, which is It Follows,
- 1:00:56Speaker 10: which I really enjoyed.
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: Yeah, Jim was a fan of that as well. I
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: like it too. Yeah, it was good.
- 1:01:01Speaker 10: It's kind of simple premise and now I can see
- 1:01:04Speaker 10: for sure the parallels between Leviticus when that came out.
- 1:01:08Speaker 14: But It Follows is much better in every way.
- 1:01:10Speaker 4: It isn't It follows like an allegory for like chlamydia
- 1:01:13Speaker 4: or something.
- 1:01:14Speaker 10: Yeah, it definitely is anti sex for sure. Really, I mean, yes,
- 1:01:21Speaker 10: it's like a it's like an entity that haunts somebody
- 1:01:24Speaker 10: A but it's like only transfers through sex.
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: Oh okay, yeah.
- 1:01:31Speaker 4: Yeah, imagine CD but instead of like itching, it's like
- 1:01:35Speaker 4: a demon. Yeah exactly, and it.
- 1:01:37Speaker 14: Can literally kill you.
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:01:40Speaker 14: Yeah, So what do you think of dinosaurs?
- 1:01:43Speaker 18: Yeah?
- 1:01:43Speaker 14: I actually really enjoyed this.
- 1:01:45Speaker 10: It definitely has some plot things that, you know, without
- 1:01:49Speaker 10: getting into any kind of spoilers here, it doesn't feel
- 1:01:53Speaker 10: as satisfying by the end of it.
- 1:01:54Speaker 14: I still give this three and a half out of
- 1:01:56Speaker 14: five stars.
- 1:01:56Speaker 4: It's a solid movie.
- 1:01:59Speaker 10: There's a lot of very big people attached to this project. Obviously,
- 1:02:02Speaker 10: David Robert Mitchell directed it, he wrote it, and hath
- 1:02:06Speaker 10: It starts in Hathaway and Ewan McGregor as like the
- 1:02:08Speaker 10: husband and wife of this family that you follow. And
- 1:02:13Speaker 10: Michael Jacchino, who is crazy big composer. He did all
- 1:02:19Speaker 10: the Spider Man You Were Spider Man movies up basically
- 1:02:23Speaker 10: like every Pixar movie. He also did the score for this,
- 1:02:26Speaker 10: which was one of the better parts of the film
- 1:02:28Speaker 10: for sure, but it was.
- 1:02:32Speaker 4: M it was.
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: To be magnanimous.
- 1:02:37Speaker 10: Well, it's really hard to get into the specifics because
- 1:02:40Speaker 10: again I there there are a few things that happen
- 1:02:42Speaker 10: that you're like, whoa, it's just so it's so surprising
- 1:02:46Speaker 10: that it takes you out of it. And then it
- 1:02:49Speaker 10: like backtracks at the end of the movie. So then
- 1:02:51Speaker 10: like the emotional pull that you get in that second
- 1:02:54Speaker 10: act with certain things happening is immediately erased by the.
- 1:02:58Speaker 14: End of the film.
- 1:02:59Speaker 4: Oh wow.
- 1:03:00Speaker 10: So, like I don't mind when some movies don't fully
- 1:03:03Speaker 10: explain the thing, right, like you really do follow just
- 1:03:07Speaker 10: this one family. So the premise, and again this is
- 1:03:10Speaker 10: in the trailer, their neighborhood gets somehow transported back into time,
- 1:03:17Speaker 10: like their block of their neighborhood gets transported back to
- 1:03:20Speaker 10: like prehistoric times and they literally land basically in the middle.
- 1:03:23Speaker 14: Of a forest with dinosaurs.
- 1:03:25Speaker 4: Ooh yeah.
- 1:03:27Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 1:03:27Speaker 10: A lot of people were hoping, because jj Abrams was
- 1:03:30Speaker 10: the producer of this, that there was going to be
- 1:03:33Speaker 10: some sort of connection to Cloverfield, and there wasn't. And
- 1:03:36Speaker 10: I do think that actually would have been kind of
- 1:03:38Speaker 10: cool to see some connections. But maybe they can backtrack
- 1:03:41Speaker 10: later and be like, oh, yes, we meant that the
- 1:03:43Speaker 10: whole time exactly, you know.
- 1:03:46Speaker 4: It was what was missing. It seems like you had
- 1:03:50Speaker 4: a dish of food, but they didn't salt it enough.
- 1:03:52Speaker 3: Yeah, and if you didn't have a movie pass, would
- 1:03:55Speaker 3: this be a movie that you would just spend like
- 1:03:58Speaker 3: your regular money?
- 1:03:59Speaker 4: And now I would.
- 1:04:00Speaker 14: Wait till it goes to streaming.
- 1:04:02Speaker 10: Personally, I liked the look of some of the dinosaurs.
- 1:04:07Speaker 10: I feel like they were very intentional about making sure
- 1:04:11Speaker 10: they didn't look like Jurassic Park dinosaurs because those are
- 1:04:14Speaker 10: so iconic, but also Jurassic Park dinosaurs, like for anyone
- 1:04:18Speaker 10: that's big dinosaur nerd. Some people were nitpicky and being like, well,
- 1:04:22Speaker 10: those aren't actually what's historically accurate based on what we know,
- 1:04:25Speaker 10: Like these things had fathers. So like half of the
- 1:04:27Speaker 10: dinosaurs in this movie half feathers. So I feel like
- 1:04:29Speaker 10: the creative team is like here, damn right, So because.
- 1:04:36Speaker 14: That's some of the dinosaurs look little goofy.
- 1:04:38Speaker 10: Some of them are terrifying, Like there's this one I
- 1:04:41Speaker 10: literally wrote down, what is this basilisk snake? I'm Harry Potter,
- 1:04:48Speaker 10: giant this giant snake that plays this whole I mean,
- 1:04:51Speaker 10: it's a whole scene in this movie.
- 1:04:53Speaker 14: Terrifying.
- 1:04:54Speaker 10: I don't like snakes to begin with, but yeah, if
- 1:04:58Speaker 10: you don't like snakes. I would say, maybe wait till
- 1:05:01Speaker 10: this goes assumes you can like skip.
- 1:05:03Speaker 4: That part exactly.
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: You can go to the bathroom at.
- 1:05:05Speaker 14: That exactly exactly.
- 1:05:08Speaker 10: I was also very surprised, I thought when I finished
- 1:05:11Speaker 10: this movie, I was like, man, that was pretty violent.
- 1:05:14Speaker 14: That how to have been rated? Are it is PG thirteen?
- 1:05:17Speaker 4: Oh wow, this is a PG thirteen movie.
- 1:05:19Speaker 10: I would not say this is a PG thirteen movie.
- 1:05:22Speaker 10: It was very violent in my opinion. There's a lot
- 1:05:24Speaker 10: of eating of people and animals and things, a lot
- 1:05:29Speaker 10: of like picking off, which like that's what predators do,
- 1:05:32Speaker 10: right exactly, but I don't want to see it right
- 1:05:35Speaker 10: every time y'all are walking down the neighborhood, you know,
- 1:05:39Speaker 10: so ultimately that's a fun time.
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: We're society, We're okay with violence. You put a boob
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: in there, then you get there, you got a problem.
- 1:05:48Speaker 14: And they do. Because this is a PG thirteen movie.
- 1:05:51Speaker 10: You know, they get like one F word, and I
- 1:05:53Speaker 10: don't know how many times they can use other expletives,
- 1:05:56Speaker 10: but I know with the EF words specifically, it's only once,
- 1:05:58Speaker 10: and I do think it's.
- 1:05:59Speaker 14: Used very well.
- 1:06:01Speaker 10: You know, you have to be very divisive if you
- 1:06:04Speaker 10: decide to check in your your one F word card movies.
- 1:06:08Speaker 14: So that was satisfying.
- 1:06:10Speaker 10: I mean, Anne Hathaway is easily the best part of
- 1:06:13Speaker 10: the film for me. So yeah, I think it's worth
- 1:06:16Speaker 10: a watch if you like dinosaurs. I'm sure people that
- 1:06:20Speaker 10: are big dinosaur nerds will get a lot.
- 1:06:22Speaker 14: More out of it than I would.
- 1:06:23Speaker 4: At least they get their feathers. Yes, you'll get.
- 1:06:26Speaker 14: Your father on some of them, on some of them.
- 1:06:29Speaker 4: So what else did you see?
- 1:06:31Speaker 10: I saw Six the Musical, which is another pro shot,
- 1:06:34Speaker 10: and I really have been enjoying this resurgeons of pro
- 1:06:39Speaker 10: shots in musicals, which I know I explained this a
- 1:06:42Speaker 10: few weeks ago, but a pro shot is kind of
- 1:06:44Speaker 10: like a filmed concert, but they are able to capture
- 1:06:48Speaker 10: a musical that is typically on stage, and they film
- 1:06:52Speaker 10: it with multicams, usually over the course of like a
- 1:06:54Speaker 10: few days, and then they make a pro shot.
- 1:06:57Speaker 14: And I really.
- 1:06:59Speaker 10: Really enjoyed seeing this one. I, of course maybe in
- 1:07:02Speaker 10: a very small demographic, because I love musical theater is
- 1:07:06Speaker 10: what I got my degree in, so like, I really
- 1:07:09Speaker 10: enjoy when I see any kind of musical representation in films.
- 1:07:14Speaker 10: But I do think Six and Musical is a great
- 1:07:17Speaker 10: show and a great pro shot to see if you're not.
- 1:07:20Speaker 14: A musical person.
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: What is it about.
- 1:07:22Speaker 14: It's about the six wives of Henry the Eighth.
- 1:07:24Speaker 10: Oh okay, but it's done in this like it is
- 1:07:27Speaker 10: kind of like a filmed concert in a way.
- 1:07:29Speaker 14: It's just one set.
- 1:07:31Speaker 10: The queens are in these like really fun pop looking outfits.
- 1:07:35Speaker 14: They sing with like handheld Mike's.
- 1:07:37Speaker 10: The whole time, and each of the queens kind of
- 1:07:40Speaker 10: get their own song as a you know, quote unquote
- 1:07:43Speaker 10: competition amongst them, just say who got the worst brunt
- 1:07:47Speaker 10: of it when they were with Henry the Eighth, And
- 1:07:50Speaker 10: each of them sort of have this like different pop
- 1:07:53Speaker 10: entity that the song is kind of based on, but
- 1:07:55Speaker 10: they all have their moment and the song's really shine here.
- 1:07:59Speaker 14: That's what I was first introduced to.
- 1:08:00Speaker 10: I did see this show back in twenty twenty two,
- 1:08:03Speaker 10: but there's something so magical about seeing close ups and
- 1:08:07Speaker 10: nuances of performances. And with six as well as the
- 1:08:11Speaker 10: Hadestown pro shot that came out a few weeks ago,
- 1:08:14Speaker 10: they were able to get the original cast back and
- 1:08:17Speaker 10: that's a really special thing too.
- 1:08:18Speaker 4: And that's also just going to be almost impossible to capture,
- 1:08:21Speaker 4: Like it's got to be kind of like new filmmaking
- 1:08:24Speaker 4: techniques because we just haven't had the technology. I know
- 1:08:28Speaker 4: that might sound crazy, but we haven't had the technology.
- 1:08:30Speaker 4: Just the film from any point of view and then
- 1:08:33Speaker 4: just push in on post and get that level of clarity.
- 1:08:38Speaker 10: It definitely seems like they're still working out the kinks
- 1:08:42Speaker 10: as far as pro shots go, but I think it's
- 1:08:44Speaker 10: just going to get better with time.
- 1:08:46Speaker 14: I think, and this is just like a general.
- 1:08:48Speaker 10: Issue with more recent pro shots is that they're so
- 1:08:51Speaker 10: focused on close ups that you miss some of the
- 1:08:54Speaker 10: wider shots. And unless you have seen the show before
- 1:08:57Speaker 10: and you're very familiar with the show, you need to
- 1:09:00Speaker 10: the audience that isn't sitting there in the theater a
- 1:09:02Speaker 10: perspective of what everything looks like on stage. Otherwise can
- 1:09:05Speaker 10: be kind of difficult. Like I love the choreography in
- 1:09:08Speaker 10: this show, but some of it gets kind of cut off.
- 1:09:10Speaker 14: Because we're doing a lot of close ups.
- 1:09:12Speaker 2: Originally, when it was you know, prepared on stage, it
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: was meant to have everything seen all at once. Yes,
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: so when you might lose some on a close up,
- 1:09:23Speaker 2: do you think if I mean this does well? Haitistown
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: does well, now we're going to start seeing everything on
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: stage get a professionally shot, a pro shot.
- 1:09:32Speaker 10: I would love for more theater to be accessible, but
- 1:09:36Speaker 10: I don't think that's going to be the case unless
- 1:09:38Speaker 10: changes happen within the Actors' Union in the US. So
- 1:09:44Speaker 10: like this, the sixth pro Shot, as well as Hadestown
- 1:09:48Speaker 10: you know, and some other recent ones like you know,
- 1:09:51Speaker 10: Next to Normal that came out last year, those were
- 1:09:54Speaker 10: all recorded and produced in the west End, and west
- 1:09:58Speaker 10: End has completely differ diferent union roles than the US
- 1:10:01Speaker 10: does regarding pro shots. Yeah, so I would love for
- 1:10:07Speaker 10: actor's equity to look at that because I think there's
- 1:10:12Speaker 10: this you know, archaic thing of like, oh, I you know,
- 1:10:17Speaker 10: if you put a pro shot out, then audiences aren't.
- 1:10:20Speaker 14: Going to go see it, and that's further from the truth.
- 1:10:22Speaker 10: I mean, I I've seen both Hadestown and six before,
- 1:10:25Speaker 10: and I would see him again after we.
- 1:10:27Speaker 2: Are there plenty of people in the theater with you.
- 1:10:29Speaker 10: Oh yes, that was another thing, this particular showing. There
- 1:10:33Speaker 10: were so many obviously this is a very like it's
- 1:10:36Speaker 10: a it's a female centric cast, so there was a
- 1:10:39Speaker 10: lot of there were a lot of girls and women
- 1:10:41Speaker 10: in the audience, but there was a mom and two
- 1:10:43Speaker 10: teenage daughters, and like I got oddly emotional, Like I
- 1:10:47Speaker 10: just happened to see them sitting as I was getting
- 1:10:49Speaker 10: to my seat, and then as the show was going on,
- 1:10:52Speaker 10: I was like, oh, hey.
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: Is this so fun?
- 1:10:54Speaker 10: Well, but I kept thinking like, is this the first
- 1:10:58Speaker 10: time seeing this? Like are they new to musicals? Like
- 1:11:02Speaker 10: I don't know it, Like it's such a formative thing.
- 1:11:06Speaker 10: So I just love that the pro shots make theater accessible.
- 1:11:09Speaker 10: So I really hope we get more of it. But yeah,
- 1:11:11Speaker 10: go see six. It's so much fun and it's really short.
- 1:11:14Speaker 10: It's ninety minutes. Oh not that ninety minutes, and that's
- 1:11:17Speaker 10: with They have like a little ten to fifteen minute
- 1:11:19Speaker 10: like mini documentary at the beginning of it, which is
- 1:11:21Speaker 10: really fun, just like a making of you know, okay,
- 1:11:24Speaker 10: how we got here?
- 1:11:25Speaker 6: Right?
- 1:11:25Speaker 10: But it's great. It's a little one act show. Highly
- 1:11:28Speaker 10: highly recommend.
- 1:11:29Speaker 14: I gave it four stars.
- 1:11:30Speaker 3: Awesome, very rare four star rating, I know. And then
- 1:11:33Speaker 3: wrap it up with what what was your third movie
- 1:11:35Speaker 3: this week?
- 1:11:36Speaker 14: I actually saw a couple on streaming.
- 1:11:39Speaker 10: Okay, I wanted to shout out they've been on streaming
- 1:11:41Speaker 10: for a couple of weeks. But I've had a little
- 1:11:43Speaker 10: bit of downtime at home and I watched two movies.
- 1:11:46Speaker 10: I watched Masters of the Universe, which I don't think
- 1:11:49Speaker 10: I covered here at all.
- 1:11:51Speaker 4: I don't believe see it came out earlier.
- 1:11:53Speaker 10: This summer, but it's out on Amazon Prime, and it
- 1:11:57Speaker 10: definitely has its its moments.
- 1:12:00Speaker 14: But it's a lot of fun.
- 1:12:01Speaker 10: I initially gave it two and a half stars, but
- 1:12:03Speaker 10: on a second watch, I'm giving it three stars.
- 1:12:06Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:12:09Speaker 10: Nicholas gallat Scene is the main character. He was also
- 1:12:13Speaker 10: in Cheap Detectives also.
- 1:12:15Speaker 4: And that's awesome that Masters of the Universe. I love that.
- 1:12:18Speaker 4: You just told me that Masters of the Universe is
- 1:12:21Speaker 4: now on Amazon Prime. Yes, like you just stream it.
- 1:12:23Speaker 4: You can just stream it and Tuesday night.
- 1:12:27Speaker 10: So it's a lot of fun. It's thirty minutes too long,
- 1:12:31Speaker 10: it's two and a half hours.
- 1:12:32Speaker 4: Oh wow.
- 1:12:33Speaker 10: Yeah, there's a lot that I think they could have
- 1:12:36Speaker 10: cut personally, but it's a really fun time if you
- 1:12:39Speaker 10: just you know, forget that some of the CGI looks bad,
- 1:12:42Speaker 10: but they like to make fun of themselves, you know.
- 1:12:47Speaker 10: It's it's just really silly, and I think we need
- 1:12:50Speaker 10: more action movies that are just silly, like I said,
- 1:12:54Speaker 10: fun And it's done by Mattel so it's the same
- 1:12:56Speaker 10: kind a team that did Barbie, so like I think Barbie.
- 1:12:59Speaker 14: But Masters of the Universe. Yeah.
- 1:13:02Speaker 10: And then the other, uh, the other movie that I
- 1:13:04Speaker 10: watch is on HBO Max.
- 1:13:06Speaker 14: You can stream it there.
- 1:13:07Speaker 10: It's the drama which I talked about earlier this year
- 1:13:10Speaker 10: with Rob Pattinson and Zendeia, and I loved it so
- 1:13:14Speaker 10: much even on a second watch. It's it's not for everybody,
- 1:13:18Speaker 10: but it's it's a quirky like almost kind of a
- 1:13:21Speaker 10: rom com. I really love it. Dark, definitely dark. It's
- 1:13:26Speaker 10: it's about a couple and they're on the brink of
- 1:13:29Speaker 10: getting married and they have a dinner where they all
- 1:13:33Speaker 10: go around and talk about the worst thing they've ever done,
- 1:13:35Speaker 10: so that way they can kind of put everything out
- 1:13:37Speaker 10: on the table before they get married. And then it
- 1:13:40Speaker 10: gets to Zendia and she says something that just kind
- 1:13:43Speaker 10: of stops the dinner party, and then that's.
- 1:13:47Speaker 14: That's the catalyst for the rest of the movie.
- 1:13:49Speaker 4: I looked it up. You're talking about it. It's a dark
- 1:13:51Speaker 4: rom com?
- 1:13:51Speaker 9: Is it?
- 1:13:51Speaker 16: What is it?
- 1:13:52Speaker 4: And I looked it up. It says the drama is
- 1:13:54Speaker 4: a pitch black comedy. It's about.
- 1:13:59Speaker 2: I'd say that's dark.
- 1:14:00Speaker 4: Yeah, I would say that is dark as well. It's
- 1:14:03Speaker 4: a pitch black comedy about marriage. Wow, a little redundant
- 1:14:07Speaker 4: out right? Yeah? The movie Girl.
- 1:14:11Speaker 2: You have a podcast? Tell people how to find it?
- 1:14:13Speaker 6: Do I do?
- 1:14:13Speaker 10: It's called the Cinema Social Collective. You can find me
- 1:14:16Speaker 10: anywhere on social media. It's all under the same handle Instagram,
- 1:14:20Speaker 10: TikTok uh and then anywhere.
- 1:14:23Speaker 14: You find podcasts.
- 1:14:24Speaker 10: We're going to record a new episode this week and
- 1:14:28Speaker 10: we're going to be covering end of Oak Street as
- 1:14:30Speaker 10: well as musical pro shots. But yeah, we release weekly
- 1:14:34Speaker 10: and it's a lot of fun. We do do a
- 1:14:36Speaker 10: lot of spoilers over there, so if you want more
- 1:14:38Speaker 10: in depth of hell I feel about certain things, go
- 1:14:40Speaker 10: check it out.
- 1:14:40Speaker 2: All right, awesome? And then do you know what movies
- 1:14:43Speaker 2: you're going to be seeing this week? For next week?
- 1:14:45Speaker 7: You?
- 1:14:45Speaker 14: Yes?
- 1:14:46Speaker 10: This next week I'm gonna be talking about Magic Faraway Tree,
- 1:14:49Speaker 10: which is a new Andrew Garfield like kids movie. Right,
- 1:14:52Speaker 10: and then this is quite quite the quite the title
- 1:14:56Speaker 10: teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasthma.
- 1:15:00Speaker 2: I think we named one of our Jim Colbert Show.
- 1:15:02Speaker 4: I was a couple of.
- 1:15:04Speaker 14: Years ago, but I'm very very excited for that one.
- 1:15:07Speaker 3: Oh and we're very excited and hopefully Jim will be
- 1:15:09Speaker 3: back here to be able to review that with you,
- 1:15:11Speaker 3: because that's gonna be a hoot.
- 1:15:13Speaker 2: Unless he's held in content, of course. Exactly.
- 1:15:16Speaker 3: Thank you so much, Emily. We appreciate it as always, put.
- 1:15:19Speaker 2: Your hands together for Emily the movie girl.
- 1:15:23Speaker 3: You're welcome, have a great rest of your week, and
- 1:15:25Speaker 3: we'll see you next Monday. All right, We're gonna take
- 1:15:28Speaker 3: a quick break so we'll be back, so keep it
- 1:15:29Speaker 3: here on the Jim Colbert Show, Real Radio one of
- 1:15:31Speaker 3: four point one.
- 1:15:32Speaker 6: I did Ohana, just got back on the island after Yeah,
- 1:15:36Speaker 6: being on your side there as you know, maybe rub
- 1:15:40Speaker 6: it into Jim a little bit, but ah, so sorry
- 1:15:42Speaker 6: he couldn't make it today, especially today, I know. But
- 1:15:46Speaker 6: Dollar General, Jack and everybody listening. You can get the drumstick,
- 1:15:51Speaker 6: the Twigs, Snickers, all those custom ice creams, and they
- 1:15:57Speaker 6: have the larger sizes. My favorite is the drumstick anyway, Looha.
- 1:16:02Speaker 2: Yet people telling me that Dollard General and seven to
- 1:16:05Speaker 2: eleven also will have the TwixT ice cream. People were
- 1:16:07Speaker 2: asking where you get that so.
- 1:16:11Speaker 4: More coh, my gosh, that was amazing.
- 1:16:13Speaker 11: That got me thinking eighth the ninth grade must have
- 1:16:15Speaker 11: been the most entire just the best years of my life.
- 1:16:18Speaker 11: I think of Hawaiian tropic, the sun, tan oil, oh,
- 1:16:22Speaker 11: the smell, and Polo. It's the sweat, ugh brance, purple rain.
- 1:16:28Speaker 11: Michael Jackson, Thriller, Chicago's seventeen, Madonna, Laca Virgin, You're the inspiration,
- 1:16:34Speaker 11: top Gun, dirty Dance and karate Kid, the first pair
- 1:16:36Speaker 11: of Jordan's ever and lace gloves and leg warmers, football
- 1:16:40Speaker 11: games and.
- 1:16:41Speaker 4: Bat whoa go jen X go? He was going, Yes,
- 1:16:45Speaker 4: she went morning Colbert cru Man.
- 1:16:47Speaker 7: A little sad today because me and Swooly did have
- 1:16:49Speaker 7: to miss this year's poker tournament and checking out Jimmy
- 1:16:52Speaker 7: big Ol' but donka donk book. Besides all that, glad
- 1:16:54Speaker 7: everyone had a great time and that amount of money
- 1:16:56Speaker 7: you guys raised is awesome. Can't wait to be back
- 1:16:59Speaker 7: now year and hope to raise even more money.
- 1:17:02Speaker 4: But Jack, do you.
- 1:17:04Speaker 7: Know the difference between a poker room.
- 1:17:06Speaker 4: And a church? Now, what's the difference?
- 1:17:08Speaker 7: Well, in a poker room, when you pray, you actually need.
- 1:17:11Speaker 23: It, big t.
- 1:17:15Speaker 15: And as your you are, you are, and don't forget.
- 1:17:25Speaker 3: We do something at the end of the show every night.
- 1:17:27Speaker 3: It's brand new.
- 1:17:28Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, the talkback Purge. So if we don't
- 1:17:32Speaker 2: get to we have a lot of talkbacks coming in.
- 1:17:35Speaker 2: We you know, played the ones we didn't get to
- 1:17:37Speaker 2: at the last segment of the show.
- 1:17:39Speaker 3: So if you haven't heard your talkback yet, chances are
- 1:17:42Speaker 3: you may hear it during the purge. And also we
- 1:17:45Speaker 3: just have a couple of quick minutes here but Jack
- 1:17:47Speaker 3: for those who weren't here with us, maybe at the
- 1:17:49Speaker 3: top of the three o'clock. At the top of the show,
- 1:17:52Speaker 3: we announced the official total from our nineteenth annual poker
- 1:17:56Speaker 3: tournament and this year broke records.
- 1:17:59Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:18:00Speaker 2: Proceeds benefiting the Mustard Seed of Central Florida. And this year,
- 1:18:04Speaker 2: thanks to the help of everyone who showed up, whether
- 1:18:07Speaker 2: they paid to play, they donated an item, they volunteered
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: their time, services, or a product that could be auctioned off,
- 1:18:15Speaker 2: we raised forty and seventy dollars. That is incredible. Congratulations
- 1:18:23Speaker 2: to Marlene, she won the tournament. She was sitting at
- 1:18:26Speaker 2: Jimmy's table and what I hear is she was taking
- 1:18:30Speaker 2: all the chips oh wow at their table, you know,
- 1:18:33Speaker 2: and she had a great run. Also, shout out to
- 1:18:37Speaker 2: mel Taylor from JR R, Jenna from Excel and Magic
- 1:18:40Speaker 2: both have been on our program before. They both reached
- 1:18:43Speaker 2: the final table. See Lane almost made the final table.
- 1:18:47Speaker 2: But it was just, you know, a great night for
- 1:18:51Speaker 2: a great cause with a lot of money raised. Shout
- 1:18:53Speaker 2: out to LT and the hard Rock Cast. Yeah, they
- 1:18:55Speaker 2: did such a great job with it was great. And
- 1:18:58Speaker 2: they handle the bar and the food and that is fantastic.
- 1:19:01Speaker 2: We appreciate that. And our friends at the Orlando Science Center. Yeah,
- 1:19:05Speaker 2: we just love that venue. We've been using that for
- 1:19:08Speaker 2: about fifteen of the nineteen years really, Yeah, and you
- 1:19:11Speaker 2: know it's been great for us.
- 1:19:13Speaker 3: It's a perfect spot. It is, you know, playing poker
- 1:19:15Speaker 3: under the Dino bones. Yeah, it's a lot of fun.
- 1:19:17Speaker 4: It is a lot.
- 1:19:18Speaker 2: It's always fun getting to put the real radio signage
- 1:19:21Speaker 2: logo in the mouth of the trax.
- 1:19:23Speaker 4: And I always tell them every year, put it Dino
- 1:19:26Speaker 4: D Dino D this sign it's gotta Pelvis.
- 1:19:31Speaker 2: Make this funny, exactly, make it work.
- 1:19:34Speaker 4: Real radio point fund.
- 1:19:36Speaker 3: And we already have a date already set for next year.
- 1:19:39Speaker 3: So all of those who weren't able to join us
- 1:19:41Speaker 3: this year, we really hope we'll get to see you
- 1:19:43Speaker 3: at the next poker tournament.
- 1:19:44Speaker 4: And that one's going to be the twentieth.
- 1:19:45Speaker 2: Yeah block now, yeah, the twentieth tournament. It will be
- 1:19:48Speaker 2: on August fourteenth, So block that day out for August fourteenth.
- 1:19:52Speaker 3: Okay, great, So what we're gonna do right now is
- 1:19:54Speaker 3: we're going to take a little break. When we come back,
- 1:19:56Speaker 3: we're going to talk about So the University of Michigan.
- 1:19:59Speaker 3: Have you guys heard but they're doing now at the
- 1:20:00Speaker 3: University of Michigan. No, what, Well, it's they're changing degrading
- 1:20:06Speaker 3: policy for some freshmen at This started ahead of the
- 1:20:09Speaker 3: new school year. Kind of want to get your guys'
- 1:20:12Speaker 3: take on it. I don't agree with it, but I
- 1:20:14Speaker 3: can see the merits for it. However, again, like I said,
- 1:20:18Speaker 3: I don't think it's very helpful. But we're going to
- 1:20:20Speaker 3: talk about that, and of course we welcome your feedback
- 1:20:24Speaker 3: as well. You can send it during a with a talkback,
- 1:20:26Speaker 3: a text message, or you can even give us a
- 1:20:28Speaker 3: call four oh seven nine one six one o four one.
- 1:20:31Speaker 3: But like I said, we're going to be taking a
- 1:20:32Speaker 3: quick break. Well, we'll be right back, so keep it
- 1:20:34Speaker 3: here on the Jim Culbert Show on Real Radio one
- 1:20:36Speaker 3: O four point one.
- 1:20:39Speaker 15: What's up, JCS crew concrete, Mike, I'm just leaving the
- 1:20:43Speaker 15: job site and win the mayor. Over here, my Channel
- 1:20:46Speaker 15: nine app is showing ninety nine degrees with a heating
- 1:20:49Speaker 15: dicks of one hundred and twelve in the sheet go
- 1:20:53Speaker 15: out in a direct sunlight factor and another fifteen degrees
- 1:20:56Speaker 15: on that you can do the mass.
- 1:20:58Speaker 20: Hey, y'all, it was a great time on Saturday. I
- 1:21:02Speaker 20: actually took out Mel at her original table, so I
- 1:21:06Speaker 20: have her placard. But that buy in she did really well.
- 1:21:10Speaker 20: I only made it to down to four tables, so
- 1:21:12Speaker 20: congratulations to her. She was so fun being a real
- 1:21:16Speaker 20: radio listener. I didn't know too much about her actually,
- 1:21:21Speaker 20: and it was such a great time.
- 1:21:22Speaker 8: She was awesome.
- 1:21:24Speaker 20: Thanks, can't wait for next year.
- 1:21:27Speaker 4: Well, good afternoon there, guys. Good afternoon. Lucas exactly as
- 1:21:32Speaker 4: beautiful as ever.
- 1:21:34Speaker 17: Jack boss Man, you got it meet anyway, I know
- 1:21:39Speaker 17: why Wenne's not coming back, and we're.
- 1:21:41Speaker 4: Not coming back tomorrow. Don't say that, not because you
- 1:21:44Speaker 4: got picked. He wants at fifteen dollars going to pay
- 1:21:48Speaker 4: you at the end of the day. No, I would bye.
- 1:21:52Speaker 3: Welcome back to the Jim Pulbert Show, Real Radio one
- 1:21:55Speaker 3: oh four point one. The gym part of the show
- 1:21:57Speaker 3: got stuck in jury duty today. They said they were
- 1:22:00Speaker 3: holding him until five, and then he said he wouldn't
- 1:22:03Speaker 3: get here until six or later.
- 1:22:04Speaker 4: You know, he's only thirty minutes away.
- 1:22:06Speaker 3: M hm, traffic, traffic exactly, five exactly, coming in just
- 1:22:12Speaker 3: for an hour's worth of work. Yeah, we got this right, Yeah,
- 1:22:16Speaker 3: we got this. Hey, thanks for all your talkbacks. We
- 1:22:18Speaker 3: really truly do love them. Hope you're able to send
- 1:22:21Speaker 3: one in for us today. We love that as well.
- 1:22:24Speaker 3: I also want to give a shout out to Brad.
- 1:22:26Speaker 3: We're going to have trivia later on in this hour
- 1:22:28Speaker 3: courtesy of Brad. Thank you so much for it coming
- 1:22:31Speaker 3: through for us in a pinch. We appreciate it.
- 1:22:33Speaker 2: Yeah, the talkback system, they change things on our end
- 1:22:37Speaker 2: of it, so as the user, which is good and bad,
- 1:22:40Speaker 2: which I'm discovering today for the first time using it,
- 1:22:43Speaker 2: it's hard to discern what has already been played and not.
- 1:22:47Speaker 2: That's the bad. The good is I can now message
- 1:22:50Speaker 2: the people back.
- 1:22:52Speaker 4: Oh cool.
- 1:22:53Speaker 2: So if I'm going to play their talk back, I
- 1:22:55Speaker 2: can shoot them a push notification that says your talkback
- 1:22:59Speaker 2: is playing and you can click on it to hear this,
- 1:23:01Speaker 2: and that brings up the station. That is awesome. However,
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: you know, we got to figure out this the other
- 1:23:06Speaker 2: part first, because right now it's a pain in the ass.
- 1:23:09Speaker 3: It is, but you know, to concrete Mike's point, I
- 1:23:11Speaker 3: mean I just checked when he talked about it. It's
- 1:23:14Speaker 3: ninety seven degrees with it feels like of one hundred
- 1:23:16Speaker 3: and ten. Yeah, so anybody out there working. And we
- 1:23:19Speaker 3: also have some showers moving around the area, real but
- 1:23:23Speaker 3: not a lot.
- 1:23:24Speaker 4: I want to know.
- 1:23:25Speaker 2: I need them in my house.
- 1:23:26Speaker 4: I do too.
- 1:23:26Speaker 2: We got a new landscape I want to, you know,
- 1:23:28Speaker 2: plants and stuff. I want to. I need the water. Otherwise,
- 1:23:31Speaker 2: I got the water and when I get home.
- 1:23:32Speaker 4: There you go.
- 1:23:32Speaker 2: I don't want another chore.
- 1:23:34Speaker 4: I got my Stage five OCD flaring up every time
- 1:23:38Speaker 4: I pull into my driveway. What is it? Mowe my
- 1:23:42Speaker 4: yard this past weekend? Yeah, two, not one, but two
- 1:23:48Speaker 4: just straight beautiful hallways of untouched mow grass that I missed. Ohoo,
- 1:23:55Speaker 4: just enormous, perfectly mower sized just straw. For some strange reason,
- 1:24:03Speaker 4: I missed on the heat. Is there any way you
- 1:24:07Speaker 4: can say you did it on purpose? No, anything about
- 1:24:09Speaker 4: it that makes it look like.
- 1:24:10Speaker 2: It could have been intentional.
- 1:24:12Speaker 19: Nah.
- 1:24:12Speaker 4: Just look, this is like a mullet. It's a mullet.
- 1:24:15Speaker 4: I got a mullet for a front yard right now.
- 1:24:18Speaker 2: Now, you said, a smiley face in my backyard of
- 1:24:21Speaker 2: my house in Melbourne. My back it was a big backyard.
- 1:24:23Speaker 2: So I made this giant circle and I mowed a
- 1:24:26Speaker 2: smiley face into it, so like the circle of the
- 1:24:29Speaker 2: eyes in the mouth were longer grass. And I've hit.
- 1:24:33Speaker 4: I've hit this unfortunate time frame. And I don't want
- 1:24:37Speaker 4: to just bitch for bitching sake, but like, I can't
- 1:24:41Speaker 4: just mow, you can. Enough time has passed though that
- 1:24:45Speaker 4: if I were.
- 1:24:46Speaker 2: To mow, it's gonna look like the rest of the
- 1:24:48Speaker 2: it will.
- 1:24:49Speaker 4: Be the reverse, you see the problem. So now I'm
- 1:24:52Speaker 4: just waiting it out.
- 1:24:53Speaker 3: Oh has the wife said anything, because that's the determining factor.
- 1:24:58Speaker 3: How will you feel though, if you at home one
- 1:25:00Speaker 3: night you saw that she put just took the lawnmower
- 1:25:03Speaker 3: and just said screw this.
- 1:25:04Speaker 4: Ah, yeah, I mean I would be kind of happy,
- 1:25:08Speaker 4: like you, you know, if you want.
- 1:25:11Speaker 2: I don't want to really do it. I think we
- 1:25:12Speaker 2: should hire someone.
- 1:25:14Speaker 4: But I'll go.
- 1:25:14Speaker 2: Sweat and then I'll forget to two of them.
- 1:25:19Speaker 4: Two of them. It looks like my yard has got
- 1:25:22Speaker 4: like Michael strahan teeth.
- 1:25:24Speaker 3: Well, were they like close to each other, like by
- 1:25:26Speaker 3: the garage, Like it's just a spot that was easy
- 1:25:28Speaker 3: to miss? Or is it right there in the middle
- 1:25:30Speaker 3: of the front lawn.
- 1:25:31Speaker 4: It's right there there. It's wow, Yeah, it's right there
- 1:25:34Speaker 4: in the front there.
- 1:25:35Speaker 2: How do you think he was able to do that.
- 1:25:38Speaker 2: I'd get the den moher and cut it down. I
- 1:25:39Speaker 2: don't know, I know what we're doing. If you understand, yes,
- 1:25:43Speaker 2: I understand, it'll be shorter than the rest. So you
- 1:25:45Speaker 2: just have to cut that whole section.
- 1:25:48Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, and then it just is the same problem. No, well,
- 1:25:52Speaker 4: it's because the same problem.
- 1:25:54Speaker 2: List and listen, when you cut it, your neighbor's not
- 1:25:57Speaker 2: cutting their lawn the same time, right, So there's I mean,
- 1:26:00Speaker 2: these changes in elevation amongst the grass is not uncommon
- 1:26:05Speaker 2: to see in the neighborhood. So this one just creeps
- 1:26:08Speaker 2: a little closer to your house.
- 1:26:10Speaker 4: Come on, man, just cut it when you get all
- 1:26:12Speaker 4: the point. Yeah, if I cut it, I have to
- 1:26:15Speaker 4: cut the rest of it. That's literally what it boils.
- 1:26:19Speaker 4: I'm going to but I'm gonna wait. Because they just
- 1:26:22Speaker 4: mowed on Friday. They only have to do the front yard.
- 1:26:24Speaker 4: You don't even have to do the backyard. I still
- 1:26:26Speaker 4: have to do the backyard. My backyard is awesome right
- 1:26:29Speaker 4: now I have blood. Yeah, oh yeah, poo, My backyard
- 1:26:35Speaker 4: looks like a little oasis. Don't look at the fence.
- 1:26:38Speaker 4: You you do have a beautiful backyard. Yeah, but the
- 1:26:40Speaker 4: fence is also Michael's straight hand teeth.
- 1:26:43Speaker 2: Well, you know, fences can beat up a lot.
- 1:26:46Speaker 4: It's tough to Yeah, man, I'm sorry Michael straighthand straight
- 1:26:50Speaker 4: from yours.
- 1:26:51Speaker 2: But do you have against Michael strahand nothing?
- 1:26:53Speaker 4: It's his signature. He loves it and whatever I see
- 1:26:57Speaker 4: two things with a distance in between it. I think
- 1:27:00Speaker 4: it was about credit. Yeah you know that David Lehman
- 1:27:03Speaker 4: or Alfreddy Newman?
- 1:27:05Speaker 5: Right?
- 1:27:06Speaker 12: Ye know?
- 1:27:06Speaker 2: Yeah you know who that is?
- 1:27:07Speaker 4: You dors dude, it's uh Batman's butler.
- 1:27:11Speaker 2: Yes, pretty Newman. He nailed it. And for more comic
- 1:27:18Speaker 2: insights like that, I want to invite you on the
- 1:27:20Speaker 2: twenty ninth to come to Mount Dora with us for
- 1:27:23Speaker 2: fourteen sketches. Oh yeah, that's a segue right there.
- 1:27:26Speaker 3: Yeah, well we only have a few minutes left and
- 1:27:28Speaker 3: that is like literally, I mean, I think it's I
- 1:27:32Speaker 3: think it's a good idea to tell people to get
- 1:27:33Speaker 3: their tickets now.
- 1:27:35Speaker 2: It's uh Ross, you had the award winning Tommy showed
- 1:27:40Speaker 2: ten sketches. Yeah yeah at the Orlando fred.
- 1:27:42Speaker 4: And we really didn't want to think of another title.
- 1:27:44Speaker 4: So then the next year you did ten more sketches.
- 1:27:47Speaker 4: The next year, Yeah, So we did twenty sketches back
- 1:27:51Speaker 4: to back years at the Theater Festival and it went
- 1:27:54Speaker 4: way better than I thought. So Joel and I have
- 1:27:57Speaker 4: actually we've done this. We did this last year only
- 1:28:00Speaker 4: a handful of times, and we're doing it again this year,
- 1:28:03Speaker 4: just a handful of times. But this is the first
- 1:28:05Speaker 4: time we have ever done fourteen And people ask me
- 1:28:09Speaker 4: why fourteen, because I'm like, those are the good ones.
- 1:28:13Speaker 4: I'm being for real. Six of them were big swings
- 1:28:16Speaker 4: and misses. Welcome to comedy and it's just the two
- 1:28:19Speaker 4: of you.
- 1:28:19Speaker 2: But it's so funny, hilarious, so funny. But we Also,
- 1:28:25Speaker 2: this was one of our prizes thanks to our friends
- 1:28:27Speaker 2: at Pisces Rising in the city of Mount Dora, one
- 1:28:30Speaker 2: of our prizes from the poker tournament where tickets to
- 1:28:33Speaker 2: this show as well, but VIP tickets and general admitson
- 1:28:36Speaker 2: tickets are currently available. Real Radio Dot FM Slash Comedy
- 1:28:41Speaker 2: But It's You and Joel on stage August twenty ninth
- 1:28:44Speaker 2: at the Mount Dora Music Hall. Now it says rated
- 1:28:47Speaker 2: eighteen plus. What does that mean?
- 1:28:49Speaker 4: I say eighteen plus because I don't want someone to
- 1:28:53Speaker 4: think that we aren't going to maybe say one or
- 1:28:56Speaker 4: two bad words and all this mature audience exactly what
- 1:28:59Speaker 4: it says. But I'll throw this out here.
- 1:29:01Speaker 2: Not a family night gathering unless.
- 1:29:04Speaker 4: This might get me in hot water. But unless you're
- 1:29:07Speaker 4: a cool dad or cool mom, if you have like
- 1:29:10Speaker 4: a fourteen year old or a fifteen year old. To me,
- 1:29:13Speaker 4: I think this show is perfect for a fifteen year old.
- 1:29:16Speaker 4: Do I think it's perfect for a nine year old? No?
- 1:29:20Speaker 2: But like that young So can we just call it
- 1:29:24Speaker 2: PG thirteen?
- 1:29:25Speaker 4: No, because a fourteen year old might see the show
- 1:29:30Speaker 4: and be like, well, can you explain that for you? Exactly?
- 1:29:34Speaker 4: And now you have bees moment.
- 1:29:36Speaker 2: And that's not what you want to do on the
- 1:29:38Speaker 2: ride home.
- 1:29:38Speaker 4: Yeah, now you're ruining this Honda Odyssey trip back home.
- 1:29:43Speaker 2: So it's gonna be Saturday, August twenty ninth, a week
- 1:29:46Speaker 2: from this Saturday at Mount Dora Music Hall. It's Ross
- 1:29:50Speaker 2: and Joel with fourteen Sketches that it's happening in Mount Dora.
- 1:29:54Speaker 4: I will be there.
- 1:29:55Speaker 2: They have VIP seating, general admission seating. It's gonna be
- 1:29:58Speaker 2: a lot of fun. You can get tickets at Real
- 1:29:59Speaker 2: Ready Slash Comedy. And for the record, yes we do
- 1:30:04Speaker 2: know Alfred E. Newman was the face of Mad magazine.
- 1:30:08Speaker 4: Absolutely, oh Man, Yeah, the nirtune boy. Yes, yes, not
- 1:30:14Speaker 4: Batman Butler. All right, well I comedically said that wrong,
- 1:30:18Speaker 4: you did, But you nailed another Alfred, which I think
- 1:30:21Speaker 4: is fantastic. The other Alfred, I can think, which is
- 1:30:23Speaker 4: why we leaned into it. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:30:25Speaker 3: Yes, I didn't question it because I didn't remember what
- 1:30:28Speaker 3: Batman Butler's name was, so I just played dumb and
- 1:30:32Speaker 3: went good job, Roz.
- 1:30:34Speaker 4: See a lot of behind the scenes here, but there's
- 1:30:36Speaker 4: gonna be no behind the scenes at fourteen Sketches because
- 1:30:40Speaker 4: it's all on stage all on stage. It is sketch comedy,
- 1:30:43Speaker 4: and I'll be all another hill I'll die on. I've
- 1:30:46Speaker 4: done stand up. I've done I mainly stand up. I've
- 1:30:50Speaker 4: done improva. I've done plays and musicals, and I've probably
- 1:30:54Speaker 4: I've done some stuff in the film community here, which
- 1:30:57Speaker 4: some of it I won't talk about. Fact I tipped
- 1:31:01Speaker 4: a lot where I'm going with this. To me, sketch
- 1:31:05Speaker 4: comedy live, sketch comedy is the hardest little pool of
- 1:31:11Speaker 4: comedy and entertainment that I've ever stepped into. We can
- 1:31:15Speaker 4: talk about why, but for me, it's the hardest. You'll
- 1:31:18Speaker 4: see a lot of sketch comedy online, You'll see a
- 1:31:20Speaker 4: lot of sketch comedy on a television or Netflix or
- 1:31:25Speaker 4: Hulu whatever. You're rarely gonna see it live. And the
- 1:31:28Speaker 4: reason why is because it takes an enormous amount of time.
- 1:31:32Speaker 4: The show that Mount Dora is seen on the twenty
- 1:31:35Speaker 4: ninth it took two years to write.
- 1:31:38Speaker 3: Yeah, and for those who didn't get a chance to
- 1:31:40Speaker 3: see it at the Fringe Festival, it is it's it's
- 1:31:44Speaker 3: beyond funny.
- 1:31:45Speaker 4: We made some people I think need to buy some pants.
- 1:31:48Speaker 4: Oh yeah, those last couple of years. So I'm really
- 1:31:52Speaker 4: excited to bring it to Mount Dora. It's gonna be
- 1:31:54Speaker 4: really cool. Where do you get tickets? Again, You can
- 1:31:57Speaker 4: get them at my website. I put them up there
- 1:32:00Speaker 4: at Rosscomedy dot com and.
- 1:32:02Speaker 2: Real Radio dot FM slash Comedy all.
- 1:32:04Speaker 4: Right, you can get them anywhere.
- 1:32:05Speaker 2: You can get them anywhere.
- 1:32:06Speaker 3: Just make sure you get them and get them early,
- 1:32:08Speaker 3: because I wouldn't be surprised if this show also sells out.
- 1:32:10Speaker 4: There won't be another show I believe that's ever happened
- 1:32:14Speaker 4: in Mount Dora like the one that we are bringing
- 1:32:16Speaker 4: on the twenty ninth, keeping it weird, just the way
- 1:32:19Speaker 4: we like it.
- 1:32:19Speaker 3: Yeah, all right, Well we're gonna do take a break
- 1:32:22Speaker 3: and when we come back, we'll pay off that University
- 1:32:24Speaker 3: of Michigan story.
- 1:32:25Speaker 2: Okay, Yeah, so we'll one today up to we'll do
- 1:32:27Speaker 2: that next. So keep it here. Real Radio one of
- 1:32:30Speaker 2: four point one Well to come.
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: Legal stories and more with Ray tread to leave from
- 1:32:34Speaker 1: TK Law today at six twenty on the Jim Culvert Show.
- 1:32:39Speaker 7: Big te Out in Melbourne, ninety seven degrees right now
- 1:32:42Speaker 7: at five oh six feels like one hundred and twelve
- 1:32:46Speaker 7: from Florida.
- 1:32:48Speaker 17: Just got off of work my car is reading one
- 1:32:51Speaker 17: hundred degrees and I work outside in landscaping, so it
- 1:32:57Speaker 17: has been about one hundred and eight and nine to day.
- 1:33:02Speaker 16: So yeah, AJCS crew dudes and two guesses sorry about
- 1:33:12Speaker 16: the background of noise on the gas station called my
- 1:33:16Speaker 16: front ear alert AC contractor.
- 1:33:18Speaker 4: He's up on a flat black tar roof and you
- 1:33:24Speaker 4: sound like he's joking. I said, Jimmy, what's coming on?
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: And he said, my choose, they're melting to the asphalt
- 1:33:32Speaker 1: on the top of the roof.
- 1:33:36Speaker 3: Kudos to every single person who's part of their work
- 1:33:41Speaker 3: workday has to be spent outside. Yeah, I always think
- 1:33:46Speaker 3: about that, like guys who work construction and up on roofs,
- 1:33:49Speaker 3: like how do you how do you get footwear where
- 1:33:52Speaker 3: your feet aren't burning.
- 1:33:55Speaker 4: Right now, I'm like this part of me that appreciates
- 1:33:57Speaker 4: the heat whenever I run, even I don't think I'm
- 1:34:00Speaker 4: running very much. I'm so out of shape it's pretty embarrassing.
- 1:34:05Speaker 4: But when I like to run in the heat because
- 1:34:07Speaker 4: I know that better times are coming, So like, I'm
- 1:34:09Speaker 4: gonna have better times as long as I keep running
- 1:34:12Speaker 4: when the when the weather drops, Barnby kind of wants
- 1:34:15Speaker 4: to start a run club. What do you guys think?
- 1:34:16Speaker 4: Do you think people will go to my run club?
- 1:34:19Speaker 3: I won't, but I'm sure I only run when I'm
- 1:34:23Speaker 3: out of cigarettes. What are you talking about, buddy?
- 1:34:26Speaker 4: Running?
- 1:34:26Speaker 2: You have to start training because you are part of
- 1:34:28Speaker 2: this flap Jack five k. Ryan Holmes is running in it.
- 1:34:33Speaker 2: You're running in it. If you get beat by Ryan Holmes, Buddy,
- 1:34:37Speaker 2: you will never hear the end of it. You're not
- 1:34:39Speaker 2: come back.
- 1:34:40Speaker 4: There's not many times that I get to really interact
- 1:34:44Speaker 4: with Ryan Holmes, just because of what our schedule is,
- 1:34:47Speaker 4: and which is odd because both him and I I
- 1:34:49Speaker 4: don't want to put words in his mouth, but I'll
- 1:34:51Speaker 4: put words in mind. I've always felt like we're bizarro
- 1:34:55Speaker 4: world versions of ourselves because we came from the same
- 1:34:58Speaker 4: comedy scene. We hear the same way by telling jokes
- 1:35:01Speaker 4: here locally, and I have no problem saying that. One
- 1:35:07Speaker 4: of my few interactions with Ryan Holmes is right here,
- 1:35:11Speaker 4: right now, when I promise you I will beat Ryan Holmes.
- 1:35:15Speaker 3: Now, okay, all right, Jack, You're gonna put some money
- 1:35:18Speaker 3: down Polymarket call she do it.
- 1:35:20Speaker 2: I'm betting on Ross. Okay, yeah, well, yeah, we have
- 1:35:23Speaker 2: to bet on ros. I don't know, we don't. You
- 1:35:25Speaker 2: bet on wherever you think is gonna win.
- 1:35:27Speaker 4: I feel uber confident I will beat Ryan Holmes.
- 1:35:32Speaker 2: See Deb, that's this loyalty thing with betting, where she
- 1:35:36Speaker 2: feels like because you like it. It's like like the race
- 1:35:40Speaker 2: for the Raiders in the football season. I feel like
- 1:35:42Speaker 2: compel to bet on them because I like them. Deb,
- 1:35:44Speaker 2: you kind of bet with your your head, not your heart.
- 1:35:48Speaker 2: Well except when it's the Packers. I'll okay, your team.
- 1:35:53Speaker 2: You can die with your team. Yeah, don't give a
- 1:35:56Speaker 2: damn about anyone else. Okay, that's right. We're getting ready
- 1:35:59Speaker 2: for fotball. I send an email out today about the
- 1:36:03Speaker 2: football picks. By the way, if you want more info,
- 1:36:05Speaker 2: if you want to run against Ross, if you think
- 1:36:07Speaker 2: you can beat him or Ryan, or just you know,
- 1:36:09Speaker 2: have fun with them at the Flapjack five K. What's
- 1:36:12Speaker 2: cool is they it's free flapjacks after you get free pancakes,
- 1:36:15Speaker 2: free pancakes after the race. Yeah, this is happening up
- 1:36:19Speaker 2: there in Leesburg. But you get details at real Radio
- 1:36:22Speaker 2: dot FM slash events. Scroll down to the bottom and
- 1:36:25Speaker 2: look for the picture of the flapjacks and run with Ross.
- 1:36:29Speaker 2: He's starting.
- 1:36:32Speaker 5: There.
- 1:36:32Speaker 3: You go run lav or we'll get some branded t shirts.
- 1:36:35Speaker 3: By the way, a lot of people texting us at
- 1:36:37Speaker 3: seven seven zero three one saying that they already got
- 1:36:40Speaker 3: their tickets to fourteen Sketches in Mount Dora on August
- 1:36:43Speaker 3: twenty ninth. Yeah, And somebody also asked, is it customary
- 1:36:47Speaker 3: to wear previous merch or is it like a concert?
- 1:36:49Speaker 3: You don't mind if people wear previous merch to fourteen Sketches?
- 1:36:52Speaker 11: Do you?
- 1:36:53Speaker 4: I mean to be there's yes. I love it.
- 1:36:57Speaker 2: He loves it.
- 1:36:58Speaker 4: I love it so much that I own don't like
- 1:37:00Speaker 4: it in the sense of like I don't. I'm like,
- 1:37:03Speaker 4: oh my god, that's so awesome. You don't like how
- 1:37:05Speaker 4: much you love it. I don't like how much I
- 1:37:08Speaker 4: love it. It's really cool and it's awesome. Mayeah, if
- 1:37:11Speaker 4: you have a raw shirt, wearing it makes absolutely feel
- 1:37:14Speaker 4: like all these years of work of performing all around
- 1:37:16Speaker 4: the state of Florida has been a little bit more
- 1:37:19Speaker 4: worth it than I thought before I saw the shirt.
- 1:37:21Speaker 2: It's span off. Absolutely, But if.
- 1:37:23Speaker 4: I'm weird in front of you and you're wearing it,
- 1:37:25Speaker 4: just know that's why I'm like, oh my god, that's awesome.
- 1:37:29Speaker 3: You can get your tickets as well at Real Radio,
- 1:37:31Speaker 3: dot FM Slash Comedy. Okay, so thousands of freshmen students
- 1:37:36Speaker 3: at the University of Michigan are not going to see
- 1:37:38Speaker 3: letter grades on their report cards next fall.
- 1:37:41Speaker 4: Okay, uh uh Yeah.
- 1:37:43Speaker 3: The school announced it recently that it's starting a quote
- 1:37:46Speaker 3: grade covering pilot program in twenty twenty seven. So this
- 1:37:51Speaker 3: is just for incoming freshmen and the College of Literature,
- 1:37:55Speaker 3: Science and the Arts, and it's just for the first semester.
- 1:37:59Speaker 3: Students will only receive a P for pass or NC
- 1:38:03Speaker 3: for no credit, but they will not get grades of
- 1:38:06Speaker 3: A through F. Doesn't that feel a little coddling, because
- 1:38:12Speaker 3: I mean it kind of those grades kind of help
- 1:38:14Speaker 3: you either, well.
- 1:38:16Speaker 2: Do you still get a grade point average? They do
- 1:38:19Speaker 2: get the grade point average.
- 1:38:21Speaker 3: They instructors and professors will still assign letter grades for
- 1:38:25Speaker 3: students to know, but students final GPAs and final transcripts
- 1:38:29Speaker 3: for the first semester will not reflect them. For the
- 1:38:35Speaker 3: first semester, you either get a pass or a no credit.
- 1:38:38Speaker 3: I think those grades kind of help you either buckle
- 1:38:40Speaker 3: down or kind of guide you as hell. Yeah, well,
- 1:38:44Speaker 3: they're saying that they're they're doing it for mental health
- 1:38:47Speaker 3: for students' mental health.
- 1:38:49Speaker 4: And this is just for ninth graders.
- 1:38:51Speaker 3: No, this is just for incoming freshmen at the University
- 1:38:54Speaker 3: of Michigan. And they have yeah college, so they have
- 1:38:57Speaker 3: eighty majors. But this only apply to the College of Literature,
- 1:39:02Speaker 3: Science and the Arts. So engineering students they're still going
- 1:39:05Speaker 3: to get letter grades. They're going to still be told
- 1:39:07Speaker 3: if they're failing or passing. So it's I don't know,
- 1:39:11Speaker 3: to me, it seems a little coddling to take some
- 1:39:13Speaker 3: of this stress out of I guess, but I mean
- 1:39:17Speaker 3: that's college, man. It's not going to get any easier.
- 1:39:21Speaker 12: No, I.
- 1:39:24Speaker 2: Do not like it, because all right, so pass is
- 1:39:27Speaker 2: what is D d's not passing, right, it's got to
- 1:39:30Speaker 2: be c's.
- 1:39:31Speaker 3: I would imagine it's got to be I don't know,
- 1:39:34Speaker 3: I would I would imagine it would be C and
- 1:39:36Speaker 3: up right, But I just to me, it's just and
- 1:39:39Speaker 3: for just this one college where all the other majors
- 1:39:42Speaker 3: they don't have any anyone looking out for their mental health.
- 1:39:45Speaker 2: But also it's kind of like if you're passing, it's like,
- 1:39:49Speaker 2: I don't care if I nailed that. I'm not worried
- 1:39:51Speaker 2: about getting an A. But if I was a B,
- 1:39:54Speaker 2: i'd definitely be motivated wanting to get the A.
- 1:39:59Speaker 3: And I just think that those letter grades are what
- 1:40:02Speaker 3: motivates you or helps you buckle down. I think getting
- 1:40:05Speaker 3: a passing or a no credit just it's just no.
- 1:40:09Speaker 2: Because I was one of those obnoxious pricks that I was.
- 1:40:12Speaker 2: I got when I went back to school. I did
- 1:40:14Speaker 2: a semester back in eighty five of college and it
- 1:40:17Speaker 2: was not well because I didn't care about it. I
- 1:40:21Speaker 2: dropped out.
- 1:40:21Speaker 4: I got involved in that college radio station instead. Oh boy,
- 1:40:26Speaker 4: A good career move. Then I went back to school
- 1:40:29Speaker 4: and I got straight a's. And really, when I kept
- 1:40:31Speaker 4: getting a's, I was motivated to continue getting a's.
- 1:40:34Speaker 2: See that's what I'm saying. And I when if there
- 1:40:38Speaker 2: was one class where I was getting into that low
- 1:40:41Speaker 2: ninety range or the upper eighties, I was extremely motivated
- 1:40:45Speaker 2: to make sure I got the A. So I was
- 1:40:48Speaker 2: that motivated me to work harder. I can't you know,
- 1:40:53Speaker 2: But I don't know. Kids have more stress now. I
- 1:40:56Speaker 2: guess we're more aware of it now. Yes, artistress now
- 1:41:01Speaker 2: is pandemic part of it, I don't know. We are
- 1:41:03Speaker 2: definitely more aware of anxiety depression spectrum. Level one spectrum,
- 1:41:09Speaker 2: that's true, Level two and all of that good stuff.
- 1:41:12Speaker 2: So you know, I just think that I don't see
- 1:41:18Speaker 2: this as beneficial. But it's a pilot program, a pilot
- 1:41:22Speaker 2: pro it's meant to try it out and see, you know,
- 1:41:24Speaker 2: if the students respond more favorably.
- 1:41:28Speaker 3: I think the I think what's interesting is that again
- 1:41:31Speaker 3: it's just the college, just the literature, sciences and art.
- 1:41:34Speaker 4: So oh yeah, that's the part that made me go,
- 1:41:37Speaker 4: oh no, exactly exactly because again, maybe not want to
- 1:41:41Speaker 4: be a registered Democrat. That's literally then you're like, engineers
- 1:41:47Speaker 4: don't need to do.
- 1:41:48Speaker 3: This because again if they're looking soft exactly, because if
- 1:41:52Speaker 3: they're looking after students' mental health, you can't tell me.
- 1:41:55Speaker 3: An engineering degree at the University of Michigan is an
- 1:41:58Speaker 3: easy major.
- 1:41:59Speaker 2: To have, right, So where does it matter?
- 1:42:02Speaker 4: Though?
- 1:42:03Speaker 2: That's ultimately when you graduate, you either graduate or you don't. Right,
- 1:42:08Speaker 2: you you go on, do you put that on your resume?
- 1:42:11Speaker 2: What your GPA was?
- 1:42:13Speaker 3: You know, a lot of you know, HR managers are like,
- 1:42:15Speaker 3: don't even bother telling us what your GPA is. That
- 1:42:18Speaker 3: means nothing to us, right, we want to know what's
- 1:42:20Speaker 3: your personality, Like, can you work well with others.
- 1:42:23Speaker 2: Yeah, and either see it's almost like a past foul
- 1:42:26Speaker 2: scenario like did you get your diploma or did you not?
- 1:42:29Speaker 17: Right?
- 1:42:29Speaker 2: Right, it's binary. It doesn't the what the fact that
- 1:42:33Speaker 2: you graduated kum laudie or it does not matter. Now
- 1:42:37Speaker 2: did you yes, I graduated Kumbladi. Thank you for in
- 1:42:40Speaker 2: high school or college? You did that?
- 1:42:42Speaker 4: You did that? You are always playing three D chess
- 1:42:46Speaker 4: with us.
- 1:42:46Speaker 3: Well, I was going to ask him anyway, because I
- 1:42:48Speaker 3: couldn't remember if it was high school he graduated kum
- 1:42:51Speaker 3: Laudi or.
- 1:42:51Speaker 4: If it was college. It was college.
- 1:42:52Speaker 3: So that's even more impressive because the level of work
- 1:42:55Speaker 3: you have to do for that.
- 1:42:56Speaker 4: Going back to me chasing those apes right exactly, if
- 1:43:01Speaker 4: you go back to the podcast and you were talking
- 1:43:03Speaker 4: about like getting those a's and what motivated you. I
- 1:43:07Speaker 4: accidentally laughed into this microphone because it hit me. I
- 1:43:11Speaker 4: have never felt that in any level of education and
- 1:43:19Speaker 4: passed right, dud I was. I was a slytherin in
- 1:43:23Speaker 4: public school. Man, I was just trying to get it done. Well.
- 1:43:26Speaker 3: I don't know if it's come across any of your guys' algorithm,
- 1:43:29Speaker 3: but there was a teacher I believe he teaches out
- 1:43:32Speaker 3: in Texas who tearfully put a video on Instagram. I
- 1:43:37Speaker 3: saw that, yep, And then he started like this new
- 1:43:40Speaker 3: trend because now all of these teachers around the country
- 1:43:42Speaker 3: have been coming out in defense of him.
- 1:43:44Speaker 2: Have you seen the video, by chance?
- 1:43:45Speaker 21: Jack?
- 1:43:46Speaker 12: I have not.
- 1:43:46Speaker 3: Okay, you don't spend a lot of time on social media.
- 1:43:50Speaker 3: You're too busy posting to social media. Well it's I
- 1:43:53Speaker 3: got a poker video. I gotta get out there.
- 1:43:55Speaker 4: You go.
- 1:43:56Speaker 3: But what makes it fascinating, Jack, is the level of
- 1:43:59Speaker 3: the amount of teacher is coming out and saying how
- 1:44:01Speaker 3: children in America cannot read or write what There are
- 1:44:06Speaker 3: even students who do not know how to write their
- 1:44:08Speaker 3: own name.
- 1:44:09Speaker 4: And at that point, I mean, that's not that's a
- 1:44:12Speaker 4: that's a you thing, you know, like you've it's what
- 1:44:15Speaker 4: six letters? You got? You gotta learn how to write
- 1:44:17Speaker 4: your name?
- 1:44:17Speaker 3: Well, I you know again, I think a lot of
- 1:44:20Speaker 3: people expect teachers to pick that up.
- 1:44:22Speaker 2: I wonder our parents still reading to their children.
- 1:44:26Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 1:44:27Speaker 11: Uh.
- 1:44:27Speaker 4: And when I saw that video, yeah, it's a teacher
- 1:44:30Speaker 4: crying talking about how seniors are are illiterate. He's run
- 1:44:35Speaker 4: into a lot of illiterate seniors, and he just felt
- 1:44:38Speaker 4: the responsibility kind of weigh on him as he knows, like, Yo,
- 1:44:43Speaker 4: this is real world. You guys are being led out
- 1:44:45Speaker 4: into gen pop. This is when the s hits.
- 1:44:49Speaker 3: The fan, and it doesn't. Like I said earlier, it
- 1:44:51Speaker 3: doesn't get any easier. And if you remember, Jimmy Ontz
- 1:44:53Speaker 3: asked us if we had heard what the how I
- 1:44:57Speaker 3: don't even know what you would call them, but experts
- 1:44:59Speaker 3: are calling Jen generation alpha. Do you remember how he said?
- 1:45:02Speaker 3: Generation Alpha? Yeah, they're feral and illiterate.
- 1:45:06Speaker 4: Cool, all right, now the new worry about here, right?
- 1:45:12Speaker 4: I mean I remember when I was feral and illiterate.
- 1:45:15Speaker 4: I was like five, but I was both of those things. Yeah,
- 1:45:18Speaker 4: but you were five, you weren't eighteen. Well I was
- 1:45:21Speaker 4: really fairal like I was. I was, uh, Donny from
- 1:45:26Speaker 4: the Wild Thornberries. I was losing.
- 1:45:31Speaker 2: I think if you just go with the past felt scenario,
- 1:45:33Speaker 2: you de incentivize, Yes, people working harder.
- 1:45:39Speaker 4: I believe so.
- 1:45:40Speaker 3: And I think with this generation who have been used
- 1:45:42Speaker 3: to helicopter parents, like I can't imagine as an adult
- 1:45:46Speaker 3: having my mom call you up Jack and ask you know,
- 1:45:50Speaker 3: or sit in on an interview. Yeah, I mean there
- 1:45:53Speaker 3: comes a time when it seems like help, but it's
- 1:45:56Speaker 3: almost like helping a butterfly out of its cocoon. It
- 1:45:59Speaker 3: will never fly correct because it's that stress of coming
- 1:46:02Speaker 3: out of the cocoon that pushes the flu. It helps
- 1:46:05Speaker 3: it spread its wings.
- 1:46:06Speaker 4: And you know, we stumbled across one thing. Jack, you
- 1:46:09Speaker 4: said it, and then dev also question and the kind
- 1:46:12Speaker 4: of made me think, well, wonder what is is like
- 1:46:16Speaker 4: our kids more stressed out than they were in generations past.
- 1:46:21Speaker 2: You know, I would say it's hard.
- 1:46:23Speaker 4: To just hit that with an absolute yes or no,
- 1:46:26Speaker 4: because it is a yes or no question. There's obviously nuance,
- 1:46:30Speaker 4: but off rip, I mean, I would not be surprised
- 1:46:34Speaker 4: if it was a no, would not be surprised if
- 1:46:36Speaker 4: it was a yes. But I lean, I'm like seventy
- 1:46:39Speaker 4: percent yes, thirty percent no, or maybe sixty forty, but
- 1:46:42Speaker 4: I'm leaning yes just because everyone has a damn platform.
- 1:46:47Speaker 2: Now, yeah, and that could be it, so you're constantly
- 1:46:50Speaker 2: reminded about it. But when, like when we were kids,
- 1:46:54Speaker 2: that the that existential threat of the clear war, a
- 1:46:59Speaker 2: nuclear war and environmental collapse. Oh yeah, we're more theoretical
- 1:47:04Speaker 2: where now we are experiencing days in the triple digits
- 1:47:09Speaker 2: of heat, so wildfires, earthquakes.
- 1:47:12Speaker 4: And all that.
- 1:47:13Speaker 2: So you know, that's a generation that says, why work
- 1:47:17Speaker 2: so hard?
- 1:47:18Speaker 3: Plus you know, we never I only remember doing tornado
- 1:47:22Speaker 3: drills in school.
- 1:47:23Speaker 2: We never had to do active shooter drill shooter drills.
- 1:47:26Speaker 3: So I can't imagine the stress that puts on a
- 1:47:28Speaker 3: child starting an elementary school, through middle school through high school.
- 1:47:32Speaker 4: My best guess, and all of those are the I
- 1:47:36Speaker 4: recognize that as all valid theories, and we're all just
- 1:47:39Speaker 4: theorizing right now. But best theory of why a kid
- 1:47:43Speaker 4: in this generation might be more stressed out than other
- 1:47:47Speaker 4: generations is because of the oversaturation of like treats and
- 1:47:55Speaker 4: good things and the I think maybe the consequence can
- 1:47:59Speaker 4: make someone and lack purpose. I am not a psychologist,
- 1:48:04Speaker 4: but if I was, I would always recommend someone to
- 1:48:08Speaker 4: find purpose. It doesn't even have to be your purpose.
- 1:48:12Speaker 4: I guess that's semantics. It is your purpose. But purpose
- 1:48:16Speaker 4: is what can wake someone up. Yes, yep, it puts
- 1:48:20Speaker 4: some sweat and it gets your going. And my best
- 1:48:23Speaker 4: guess is that I don't think that this generation of
- 1:48:27Speaker 4: kids really has the best opportunity of what purpose has
- 1:48:33Speaker 4: felt like for other generations because of and I hate
- 1:48:37Speaker 4: to sound like an old guy in the front yard,
- 1:48:38Speaker 4: but because of the Internet, of everything being desensitized.
- 1:48:44Speaker 3: Yeah, well that and because a lot of the things
- 1:48:46Speaker 3: that we all aspire to were things that we were
- 1:48:49Speaker 3: able to do right by your first home, get married,
- 1:48:52Speaker 3: have children, whereas for these younger generations, owning a home
- 1:48:56Speaker 3: is almost completely out of the question. And then comes
- 1:48:59Speaker 3: in the question of mary and children and cost an
- 1:49:01Speaker 3: expense and then all of that as well.
- 1:49:03Speaker 4: It's out of the question. But you know what's completely
- 1:49:05Speaker 4: in the question is the expectations still, Oh, without a doubt,
- 1:49:10Speaker 4: the expectation because you saw previous generations. You've heard about
- 1:49:14Speaker 4: the American dreams. So the expectation is set. And when
- 1:49:18Speaker 4: the expectations are set and you fall short, that's a
- 1:49:21Speaker 4: that's a fast pass to stress land.
- 1:49:23Speaker 3: Well, somebody just texted us at seven seven zero three one.
- 1:49:26Speaker 3: The parents are to blame. They think teachers have to
- 1:49:29Speaker 3: do all the work out of school accounts too. They
- 1:49:31Speaker 3: refuse to do homework with their kids. Sports are more
- 1:49:34Speaker 3: important than the literacy of their child.
- 1:49:36Speaker 4: I look at my childhood and yes, I am totally biased.
- 1:49:40Speaker 4: But I was, I was before that smartphone addiction what
- 1:49:44Speaker 4: we have right now, and the benefit that I had
- 1:49:48Speaker 4: of riding my mongoose bike, yes, the ones with the
- 1:49:51Speaker 4: backpegs that I bought myself.
- 1:49:54Speaker 2: Wow, all right, all right, it was the bike, the pegs, Okay,
- 1:49:59Speaker 2: all right.
- 1:50:00Speaker 4: Uh, having that social exercise of becoming friends with the
- 1:50:05Speaker 4: kids in my neighborhood, Yeah, that was, to my knowledge,
- 1:50:09Speaker 4: the average as pretty middle of the park experience of
- 1:50:13Speaker 4: being a kid versus what that is now.
- 1:50:16Speaker 2: Right now, it's now it's all smartphones and tablets.
- 1:50:18Speaker 4: I think it's a group text yeah, exactly in the
- 1:50:21Speaker 4: same room and a different language that's filled with emojis
- 1:50:27Speaker 4: and just not not the two black pegs on the
- 1:50:31Speaker 4: back wheel of a mongoose. So, and the consequence of
- 1:50:36Speaker 4: never going on that mong goose with the back pegs
- 1:50:39Speaker 4: is that I think if you just stay inside on
- 1:50:42Speaker 4: a phone scrolling, you might laugh, but it's such a
- 1:50:46Speaker 4: short squeeze and it hurts you in the long run.
- 1:50:49Speaker 3: Oh, without a doubt, without a doubt, and it certainly
- 1:50:51Speaker 3: doesn't develop any kind of interpersonal skills. So I just
- 1:50:54Speaker 3: I was interested to get your guys take on that.
- 1:50:56Speaker 3: That's see what you thought.
- 1:50:57Speaker 2: That's my best guess. We kind of conquered multiple tops.
- 1:51:00Speaker 3: Well yeah, but and a lot of people weighing in
- 1:51:02Speaker 3: at the texting service as well. But now you guys
- 1:51:05Speaker 3: know what time it is, right right, right, It's time
- 1:51:07Speaker 3: for trivia.
- 1:51:08Speaker 2: Cortese of Brad. Thanks Brad.
- 1:51:10Speaker 3: So if you'd like to play a game of trivia,
- 1:51:13Speaker 3: maybe get some really great prizes. We're gonna take a
- 1:51:16Speaker 3: look at what's in jackie sack coming up. Go ahead
- 1:51:18Speaker 3: and give us a call. Four oh seven nine one
- 1:51:20Speaker 3: six one four one, lot up the phones. We'll do
- 1:51:23Speaker 3: trivia next. So keep it here on the Jim Clbert
- 1:51:25Speaker 3: Show on Real Radio one O four point one.
- 1:51:27Speaker 4: You're in JCS Cruz Jason over in Palm Bay. Hey, Jace,
- 1:51:30Speaker 4: my wife works.
- 1:51:30Speaker 24: Out in elementary school and uh she's from her observation,
- 1:51:34Speaker 24: it's the parents.
- 1:51:35Speaker 4: The parents don't want to.
- 1:51:36Speaker 24: Take responsibilities for there are kids falling behind. They think
- 1:51:39Speaker 24: it's all the teacher's doings. The teachers need to teach
- 1:51:42Speaker 24: the kids how to do everything in life, from basic
- 1:51:45Speaker 24: social skills to basic life skills to everything, while the
- 1:51:48Speaker 24: parents just have to dress them and have them show
- 1:51:51Speaker 24: up for school.
- 1:51:51Speaker 2: That's it.
- 1:51:52Speaker 4: That's the issue. It's the parents deuces.
- 1:51:57Speaker 21: That'll college things a cash grab, worried about freshmen dropping out.
- 1:52:02Speaker 2: They don't care about mental health. They want to make
- 1:52:04Speaker 2: sure they come back and pay for another semester. It's
- 1:52:06Speaker 2: all bull crap.
- 1:52:08Speaker 6: Don't hold right, sy' telling me that they're replacing letters
- 1:52:12Speaker 6: with more letters.
- 1:52:14Speaker 18: Wow, No, wonder why that school logo is a giant m.
- 1:52:22Speaker 9: H.
- 1:52:22Speaker 3: I take it we have a lot of Michigan fans
- 1:52:24Speaker 3: in the audience. Huh.
- 1:52:27Speaker 4: I just I just wanted a quick comment about that
- 1:52:29Speaker 4: first talk back. Yeah, I can get on board with
- 1:52:32Speaker 4: that of saying that it's the parents, right, but we
- 1:52:34Speaker 4: also know what a single mom goes through. And we
- 1:52:38Speaker 4: also when I hear that, I go, absolutely, you are correct,
- 1:52:41Speaker 4: But then I start feeling for the parents. I do.
- 1:52:44Speaker 3: But I read earlier this summer that there was a
- 1:52:47Speaker 3: school district that actually had to tell parents potty train
- 1:52:51Speaker 3: your child before they come to elementary school. This wasn't
- 1:52:54Speaker 3: even like pre K or I mean, they're not even
- 1:52:57Speaker 3: coming prepared to use the bathroom.
- 1:52:59Speaker 4: But and then it just makes me go like, all right, well,
- 1:53:02Speaker 4: let's get to the head of the sink and trying
- 1:53:03Speaker 4: to figure out what's going on there. And I know,
- 1:53:06Speaker 4: at least with my experience with my parents, I go,
- 1:53:09Speaker 4: oh yeah, to keep lights on? Right, that was seventy
- 1:53:12Speaker 4: eighty hours a week. How many times do you hear
- 1:53:15Speaker 4: that story? Oh a lot, without a doubt. So like
- 1:53:17Speaker 4: I also feel for the parents as well. Yeah, you gotta,
- 1:53:20Speaker 4: I guess you gotta feel for both sides of the story. Right, Absolutely,
- 1:53:23Speaker 4: Welcome back to the Jim Culbert Show. Jim had jury
- 1:53:25Speaker 4: duty today, so he is stuck in Lake County doing
- 1:53:28Speaker 4: his civic duty. But thanks to Brad, we have trivia.
- 1:53:31Speaker 4: And speaking of trivia, let's take a look at what's
- 1:53:34Speaker 4: in the Jackie set. All aboard check the chuga.
- 1:53:37Speaker 2: Chew chew say clack, click clack.
- 1:53:41Speaker 4: Yeah, he's we now call forth the Jim Colvett Ghost.
- 1:53:49Speaker 2: The winner will get to choose between two prizes. It
- 1:53:52Speaker 2: could be a pair of tickets to see Orlando City
- 1:53:54Speaker 2: sc and Antoine Griesman take on Real Salt Lake at
- 1:53:58Speaker 2: inter Dot Stadium on August twenty second, Or they might
- 1:54:04Speaker 2: choose a pair of tickets to see the Google Doll Black,
- 1:54:08Speaker 2: a Credit Union apater with special guests Neon Trees that
- 1:54:11Speaker 2: happens August twenty fourth. Those are the two prizes in
- 1:54:14Speaker 2: the Jaggie Sack.
- 1:54:15Speaker 3: All right, thanks to you, Jack. Let's go ahead and
- 1:54:18Speaker 3: just right off rip number one.
- 1:54:20Speaker 2: That would be Matt. Hey, Matt, how's it going?
- 1:54:24Speaker 4: Oh, I'll be number one. I will see all right.
- 1:54:27Speaker 3: Well, you never know, this is a brad day, so
- 1:54:29Speaker 3: it could be a little bit more difficult.
- 1:54:31Speaker 2: You want to play a little trivia, let's do it.
- 1:54:34Speaker 4: Indeed, it's time for JCS trivia. Great, it's Colbert off again.

- 1:54:49Speaker 4: It's time for brass trivia. Brutal brutle.
- 1:54:55Speaker 3: All right, Matt, you know how the game is. I'm

- 1:55:00Speaker 3: those facts is a lie. Find the lie, and you
- 1:55:02Speaker 3: get to go to the Jackie Sack.

- 2:03:48Speaker 23: Picture it's been a long.
- 2:03:49Speaker 2: Time that.
- 2:03:50Speaker 4: Was that was early on in the, caseload before all the.
- 2:03:54Speaker 4: Twinkies what's going on in the world of, Sports Brendan,
- 2:03:57Speaker 4: Kravit there can't be.
- 2:03:58Speaker 26: Much, well, yeah this time of, year it is for
- 2:04:02Speaker 26: me all about the ramp up to the football. SEASON
- 2:04:05Speaker 26: i have been guzzling preseason football like it's gasoline before a.
- 2:04:11Speaker 26: HURRICANE i, mean it is just. NonStop i'm watching deep
- 2:04:15Speaker 26: into the fourth quarter of these games that don't, matter
- 2:04:17Speaker 26: it's just. One it's just good to see it back
- 2:04:20Speaker 26: on the. Screen AND i do think for a sicko
- 2:04:24Speaker 26: like myself that dives as deep into the weeds AS
- 2:04:27Speaker 26: i like to, GET i think knowing where the talent
- 2:04:30Speaker 26: is hidden on some of these, ROSTERS i mean it's
- 2:04:33Speaker 26: kind of, like you, know you're sifting through a lot
- 2:04:36Speaker 26: of garbage to find a, Gym but they are out,
- 2:04:38Speaker 26: there AND i think even more topical for the audience
- 2:04:43Speaker 26: that we're speaking to here that just wants the good.
- 2:04:46Speaker 26: STUFF i, MEAN i think some of the guys that
- 2:04:48Speaker 26: you see that are featured at the beginning of these,
- 2:04:50Speaker 26: games there are stories that are. Told so if you
- 2:04:53Speaker 26: want me to go through my rolodex of notes, HERE
- 2:04:57Speaker 26: i could probably spend a couple of minutes on, this
- 2:04:59Speaker 26: But i'll start With Jax. RAIDERS i thought That Fernando
- 2:05:04Speaker 26: mendoza got all the headlines and he looked, really really.
- 2:05:06Speaker 26: Good it looked very. Comfortable his passing was. Crisp BUT
- 2:05:11Speaker 26: i think it's being overlooked That Kirk cousins looked the
- 2:05:14Speaker 26: part as. Well And Fernando mendoza isn't just going to
- 2:05:16Speaker 26: be handed the. Job they really want him to, Sit
- 2:05:19Speaker 26: they want him to. Develop there's a reason why they
- 2:05:23Speaker 26: brought In. Cousins there's a reason Why cousins agreed to do.
- 2:05:26Speaker 26: That he's still a starting worthy quarterback in THE. NFL
- 2:05:30Speaker 26: i don't think he would have gone there if not
- 2:05:31Speaker 26: given some assurance that he was going to have a
- 2:05:34Speaker 26: longer leash Than, ooh the rookie looks good in the,
- 2:05:37Speaker 26: preseason SO i wantn't get overhyped on. THAT i think
- 2:05:41Speaker 26: this offense is going to be much. Improved Kirk cousins looks.
- 2:05:44Speaker 26: Sharp The raiders arrow is pointed in the right.
- 2:05:47Speaker 2: DIRECTION i, WANT i, honestly as A raider, FRIEND i
- 2:05:50Speaker 2: won twenty to twenty one great games From Kirk, cousins
- 2:05:54Speaker 2: taken all season. Long let the kid learn on the,
- 2:05:57Speaker 2: bench and then next, season you, know let him as.
- 2:06:00Speaker 2: End Kirk cousins getting through a whole, season that's another.
- 2:06:04Speaker 4: Story Brock, bowers is that the best tight end in
- 2:06:08Speaker 4: the league? Easily? YEAH i think he.
- 2:06:11Speaker 26: IS i Think trey McBride set the single season record
- 2:06:14Speaker 26: for receptions at the tight end position last, year so
- 2:06:17Speaker 26: he definitely has a claim to. It but Brock bauers
- 2:06:20Speaker 26: is just different in terms of the way that he's,
- 2:06:22Speaker 26: built the, speed the route. Running he is in terms
- 2:06:26Speaker 26: of the stats he has produced on a per game,
- 2:06:28Speaker 26: basis and he's only played two seasons and he was
- 2:06:31Speaker 26: injured for a lot of last. Year the only other
- 2:06:34Speaker 26: player in recent history that has put up numbers similar
- 2:06:37Speaker 26: to him in their first two seasons Was Rob. Gronkowski
- 2:06:40Speaker 26: so Brock bowers is that. Dude AND i think with
- 2:06:43Speaker 26: a new head, Coach Clint kubiak is the new head
- 2:06:45Speaker 26: coach for The. Raiders he was the offensive coordinator for
- 2:06:48Speaker 26: The seahawks last. Year he's the guy that was credited
- 2:06:52Speaker 26: with really Unlocking Jackson smith And jigba because of the
- 2:06:55Speaker 26: way that he lined him up on the. Field and
- 2:06:57Speaker 26: so a lot of people are just assuming and rightfully
- 2:06:59Speaker 26: so that Brock bowers being the most talented pass catcher
- 2:07:02Speaker 26: for The, raiders that he's gonna be unlocked in a big.
- 2:07:04Speaker 26: Way so if you have fantasy drafts coming, UP i
- 2:07:07Speaker 26: don't think pick twelve is too soon for Brock, bowers.
- 2:07:13Speaker 4: A big. ONE i would swing for THE i would
- 2:07:14Speaker 4: swing for the fences on. Him you're, saying Brock, bowers
- 2:07:17Speaker 4: just to get this on paper, here AND i understand
- 2:07:21Speaker 4: it's not, paper but Brock, bowers you want to it's
- 2:07:25Speaker 4: a late first round pick. Twelve you would give them,
- 2:07:29Speaker 4: twelve and you would go to sleep that. Night i'll
- 2:07:33Speaker 4: give him.
- 2:07:33Speaker 26: Twelve and part of the reason is if you're picking
- 2:07:35Speaker 26: at twelve the, pick you're never gonna see him. Again
- 2:07:40Speaker 26: that's your only. Opportunity there's no way he's making it
- 2:07:42Speaker 26: back to. You so if someone in your league, goes,
- 2:07:44Speaker 26: OH i don't, know he's more of a mid round two,
- 2:07:46Speaker 26: pick it's, like, okay who. CARES i. Don't i'm not
- 2:07:49Speaker 26: in the middle of round to him at the end of.
- 2:07:51Speaker 26: It SO i want to make. Sure you want to
- 2:07:52Speaker 26: make sure that you get your, guys even if you
- 2:07:54Speaker 26: have to jump what is considered a ranking or average
- 2:07:57Speaker 26: draft position based on the sites that you look, at
- 2:08:00Speaker 26: plant your flag and the guys that you. Like never
- 2:08:03Speaker 26: ever in the history of fantasy football has it ever
- 2:08:05Speaker 26: worked out that the best players went in the exact
- 2:08:08Speaker 26: order that they were drafted. In it doesn't work like.
- 2:08:10Speaker 26: That so like, that go get your. Guys don't get
- 2:08:12Speaker 26: too wild with. It but that's you're talking about taking
- 2:08:15Speaker 26: him ahead of where he's going by like eight. Positions who?
- 2:08:18Speaker 26: Cares just take?
- 2:08:19Speaker 4: Them hell, yeah what.
- 2:08:20Speaker 2: Are some of your other highlights from the preseason so?
- 2:08:24Speaker 4: Far don't ask?
- 2:08:24Speaker 23: Me?
- 2:08:25Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 2:08:25Speaker 26: Yeah you gotta watch out for these coaches that have
- 2:08:28Speaker 26: never coached in THE. Nfl you would think it would
- 2:08:30Speaker 26: be so obvious that you have your stars and if
- 2:08:34Speaker 26: you want to get a look at. Them that's, great
- 2:08:35Speaker 26: but you don't over extend them in the. Preseason that's
- 2:08:38Speaker 26: not what this is, for especially if it's their first
- 2:08:40Speaker 26: game in their hit in the. Career of these, Individuals
- 2:08:45Speaker 26: i'm talking About Jeremiah. Love he was the third overall
- 2:08:47Speaker 26: pick for The. Cardinals he is a superstar ready to
- 2:08:50Speaker 26: happen at the running back. Position this guy played deep
- 2:08:54Speaker 26: into the second quarter for The Arizona. Cardinals he had
- 2:08:57Speaker 26: fourteen touches in a preseason, game which is unheard of
- 2:09:00Speaker 26: for a running back that you would think would otherwise
- 2:09:03Speaker 26: be in bubble rap until the regular season, starts and
- 2:09:07Speaker 26: wouldn't you know, it high ankle. Sprain he's not gonna
- 2:09:09Speaker 26: play again for the rest of the preseason and they
- 2:09:11Speaker 26: hope that he's available for the start of the. Year Jackson,
- 2:09:15Speaker 26: dart the quarterback for The, giants got absolutely rocked in
- 2:09:19Speaker 26: the game that he played in and was already in
- 2:09:22Speaker 26: the blue medical, tent which he spent half the season
- 2:09:24Speaker 26: in last. YEAR i think they're going to make him
- 2:09:26Speaker 26: start paying rent in that room at some point. Soon
- 2:09:29Speaker 26: Kyler murray is now the starting quarterback for The Minnesota.
- 2:09:31Speaker 26: Vikings he didn't get a lot of work in that first,
- 2:09:34Speaker 26: game but you can just see the early signs of
- 2:09:37Speaker 26: how special that offense can be with a real. Quarterback
- 2:09:40Speaker 26: they can run the football And Justin jefferson didn't even
- 2:09:43Speaker 26: play for the local. Spin to round out my, report
- 2:09:46Speaker 26: The Tampa Bay buccaneers may have found something in terms
- 2:09:49Speaker 26: of a backup. Quarterback i'm not saying he's going to
- 2:09:52Speaker 26: Challenge baker for the starting. Job none of the starters
- 2:09:55Speaker 26: played for The, bucks But Jalen, daniels Not Jaden daniels
- 2:09:58Speaker 26: that plays for The, commanders But jay And daniels was.
- 2:10:01Speaker 26: Electric ten to, fifteen one hundred and eleven. Yards he
- 2:10:04Speaker 26: made it look really. Easy that's a guy to look
- 2:10:06Speaker 26: out for if you're inclined it all to watch preseason.
- 2:10:09Speaker 26: Football he's somebody to definitely take a look. At And
- 2:10:12Speaker 26: Malik willis played one drive for The dolphins AND i
- 2:10:15Speaker 26: thought he looked pretty. Sharp so, well that team's gonna
- 2:10:17Speaker 26: be awfully bad this. Year at least they might have
- 2:10:20Speaker 26: found something in terms of a.
- 2:10:21Speaker 2: Quarterback, trly do you concur that The dolphins will be
- 2:10:24Speaker 2: awfully bad this? YEAR i do not. Agree now you
- 2:10:28Speaker 2: think they're going to this.
- 2:10:28Speaker 4: YEAR i don't. Know if we're going to the.
- 2:10:30Speaker 23: Championship BUT i think that we're going to have more
- 2:10:33Speaker 23: than the two wins that are. PREDICTED i think they'll
- 2:10:35Speaker 23: go at least six six. Wins you got a six
- 2:10:38Speaker 23: season for The, dolphins and at the end of the,
- 2:10:40Speaker 23: day it doesn't matter BECAUSE i watched to fumble the
- 2:10:42Speaker 23: ball on his first drive in The Falcons, jersey and
- 2:10:45Speaker 23: that made it all worth.
- 2:10:45Speaker 26: It, yeah that was that Was that was another part
- 2:10:49Speaker 26: of The IF i was to get eight more minutes
- 2:10:51Speaker 26: on my rundown two of fumbling the one of his
- 2:10:54Speaker 26: first snaps in the, game definitely would have landed on.
- 2:10:56Speaker 26: There he did not look, great but he was also
- 2:10:58Speaker 26: going up against the starters for The Bronco So i'll
- 2:11:00Speaker 26: give him a slight pass.
- 2:11:01Speaker 2: And real Quick Brandon Tampa. Bay might they be looking
- 2:11:05Speaker 2: for a new starting quarterback next?
- 2:11:07Speaker 4: Season next?
- 2:11:08Speaker 26: Season it is very possible because they they Offered Baker
- 2:11:13Speaker 26: mayfield a new contract two, years fifty million dollars a,
- 2:11:16Speaker 26: year which sounds like a whole lot of, money but
- 2:11:18Speaker 26: he wanted a longer term. Deal he feels like he's
- 2:11:20Speaker 26: a franchise, guy and usually those players get four or five,
- 2:11:23Speaker 26: years not. Two The bucks are trying to date and not,
- 2:11:27Speaker 26: marry And Baker mayfield's not about, it and so he
- 2:11:30Speaker 26: wants that long term. Commitment they weren't willing to give
- 2:11:33Speaker 26: it to. Him and at the end of the, year
- 2:11:36Speaker 26: we'll see where they're. At because if he has a
- 2:11:38Speaker 26: monster season and then The bucks off him a deal
- 2:11:40Speaker 26: and he, goes screw, you, guys you didn't offer me
- 2:11:42Speaker 26: the deal WHEN i wanted, it he could force his
- 2:11:44Speaker 26: way out Of.
- 2:11:45Speaker 4: Tampa so do you think extra motivation he's a good
- 2:11:49Speaker 4: quarterback pick this year fantasy wise because he's going to
- 2:11:51Speaker 4: be playing for that next.
- 2:11:53Speaker 2: CONTRACT i do like.
- 2:11:55Speaker 26: THAT i Like Baker mayfield with a chip on his,
- 2:11:57Speaker 26: shoulder AND i think that if you gave The bucks truth,
- 2:12:00Speaker 26: seerum that's part of the reason, Why, hey let's needle.
- 2:12:03Speaker 26: Him that's when he plays at his best is when
- 2:12:06Speaker 26: he was his best season with The Tampa Bay, buccaneers is.
- 2:12:09Speaker 4: When he came in on a cheap deal as a
- 2:12:12Speaker 4: prove it.
- 2:12:13Speaker 26: Player, yeah and since then he's been, good but he
- 2:12:16Speaker 26: hasn't been one of the best quarterbacks in THE nfl
- 2:12:19Speaker 26: like he was for a blip while wearing That bucks.
- 2:12:21Speaker 26: Uniform they know that they're needling a guy that plays
- 2:12:25Speaker 26: best with a chip on his. SHOULDER i wouldn't go
- 2:12:28Speaker 26: crazy with him in fantasy just BECAUSE i don't love
- 2:12:29Speaker 26: the weapons that he's throwing the ball. To Mike evans is,
- 2:12:32Speaker 26: gone he's now In San. Francisco but as far As baker's,
- 2:12:35Speaker 26: PLAY i think he's going to be a star this.
- 2:12:37Speaker 3: Year all, Right and there you have, it the expert
- 2:12:41Speaker 3: in the sports, World, brandon what are you going to
- 2:12:43Speaker 3: be watching tonight?
- 2:12:46Speaker 26: Tonight let's, SEE i THINK i might step out of
- 2:12:49Speaker 26: the sports world tonight tonight IS i THINK i got

- 2:13:13Speaker 26: remote off and.
- 2:13:14Speaker 4: Yeah, here, Yeah i'll lay.
- 2:13:17Speaker 26: BACK i, mean there's some baseball on THAT i could,

- 2:13:32Speaker 2: many waits for The? Dolphins?

- 2:14:09Speaker 22: to the third and last, table all on my first poker.
- 2:14:12Speaker 22: Tournament so fantastic. Time i'll be there every year after. This,
- 2:14:18Speaker 22: guys have a fantastic at.

- 2:14:41Speaker 2: including our next.
- 2:14:43Speaker 3: Guest, yeah so welcome back to The Jim Culbert. Show
- 2:14:46Speaker 3: jim is off doing his civic. Duty he had jury duty.
- 2:14:49Speaker 3: Today we didn't think he was gonna have to stay
- 2:14:51Speaker 3: as long as he, did but they all, day all.
- 2:14:53Speaker 3: Day he's been there since this morning and they held
- 2:14:55Speaker 3: him until. Five hopefully he'll be back with us. Tomorrow
- 2:14:58Speaker 3: you do have Deb Jack ross and our special guest
- 2:15:01Speaker 3: special guests Every monday at this, time, right friendly FROM tk.
- 2:15:05Speaker 4: Law, yeah you know it's.
- 2:15:09Speaker 23: Crazy jim sent me some pictures of him at the
- 2:15:11Speaker 23: golf course this, afternoon.
- 2:15:13Speaker 2: So you, guys BUT i know better because he ain't
- 2:15:18Speaker 2: playing golflin it's one hundred and ten.
- 2:15:19Speaker 3: Degrees, yeah, Absolutely but you, Know jack did mention something
- 2:15:23Speaker 3: before we win to break that really is a good.
- 2:15:25Speaker 3: Point you can speak to how important it is as
- 2:15:28Speaker 3: much as people consider being you, know jury duty is
- 2:15:31Speaker 3: a pain in the, ass all day, excursion.
- 2:15:33Speaker 4: Right you hope you don't give you a lot of.
- 2:15:35Speaker 3: Money they don't give you a lot of, money you,
- 2:15:37Speaker 3: know and if you're sequestered or, whatever that's a whole different.
- 2:15:41Speaker 3: Story but you can speak to the importance of having
- 2:15:45Speaker 3: a jury of your, peers which means we all have
- 2:15:47Speaker 3: to do.
- 2:15:48Speaker 8: It.
- 2:15:48Speaker 23: Yeah, SO i, mean here's WHAT i say to people
- 2:15:50Speaker 23: all the time when they ask me about jury.
- 2:15:52Speaker 4: Duty, is.
- 2:15:54Speaker 23: You, know the only way the legal system continues to
- 2:15:58Speaker 23: run and operate the way it does currently is when
- 2:16:00Speaker 23: people believe in. It and one of the things that
- 2:16:02Speaker 23: people used to believe, in AND i think that there's
- 2:16:04Speaker 23: some some evidence to suggest that people don't believe in
- 2:16:07Speaker 23: the jury system as much as they used, to is
- 2:16:09Speaker 23: when people show up for jury, duty and there's nothing
- 2:16:12Speaker 23: harder as the lawyer than to almost beg people, like,
- 2:16:15Speaker 23: please will you be on my?
- 2:16:16Speaker 4: Jury?
- 2:16:17Speaker 23: Right and then sometimes and this is what has happened,
- 2:16:20Speaker 23: recently is sometimes you're asking people to be on the
- 2:16:22Speaker 23: jury who really don't want to be there and they're
- 2:16:24Speaker 23: trying to find their ways. Out and then then that
- 2:16:27Speaker 23: being the ones, that like you can, see are paying
- 2:16:28Speaker 23: the most. Attention and SO i think there's a lot
- 2:16:31Speaker 23: of maybe misunderstanding as to like what jury duty. Means
- 2:16:36Speaker 23: you learn a, lot and you have an opportunity to
- 2:16:38Speaker 23: participate in legal, system and who, knows you, know maybe
- 2:16:41Speaker 23: you can materially change somebody's life by serving in that jury.
- 2:16:44Speaker 23: Duty so you should absolutely do. It it's so it
- 2:16:46Speaker 23: is a thankless. Job you said all the things THAT
- 2:16:48Speaker 23: i would. Say you, know it is, thankless but it
- 2:16:52Speaker 23: really is.
- 2:16:52Speaker 4: NECESSARY i had jury duty a couple months, ago and
- 2:16:57Speaker 4: one of the worst moments of my, year though, far
- 2:17:01Speaker 4: was when they had us past the microphone one by
- 2:17:05Speaker 4: one explained to the entire room why we couldn't make.
- 2:17:10Speaker 23: It why we why you wouldn't be able to.
- 2:17:14Speaker 4: See just hearing everyone being, like, DOG i got a
- 2:17:18Speaker 4: dog beat who has bad, tooth and, uh also my
- 2:17:23Speaker 4: wife is going through, this and and then it got
- 2:17:26Speaker 4: to me and THEN i had to Say i'm going
- 2:17:28Speaker 4: to The World.
- 2:17:29Speaker 23: Cup, yeah, terrible, Dude like that's like such a terrible
- 2:17:33Speaker 23: experience for.
- 2:17:34Speaker 4: You oh, no it was just LIKE i stuck out
- 2:17:36Speaker 4: because everyone had a sob, story, right and Then i'm
- 2:17:39Speaker 4: like kicking it back with like a colada up in.
- 2:17:41Speaker 4: ATLETA i jumped. Out the judge laughed at.
- 2:17:45Speaker 2: Me oh, REALLY i love.
- 2:17:46Speaker 4: That?
- 2:17:47Speaker 3: Yeah is that a tactic to kind of maybe embarrass?
- 2:17:50Speaker 23: People, no you, know it's. Funny i've never seen a
- 2:17:53Speaker 23: judge do that where they.
- 2:17:54Speaker 4: Just pass it.
- 2:17:54Speaker 23: Around i'm surprised to, right normally the judge is there
- 2:18:00Speaker 23: anybody with a substantial, hardship and they'll have you raise
- 2:18:03Speaker 23: your hand and then they'll ask a couple of people
- 2:18:05Speaker 23: like what the hardships. Are but, sometimes you, know like
- 2:18:08Speaker 23: the judge will take somebody privately and, say, hey what's going.
- 2:18:10Speaker 23: On i've never had to just ask, Everybody, hey why
- 2:18:13Speaker 23: can't you be? Here so that's an interesting.
- 2:18:16Speaker 4: Tactic AND i say, like it was one of the worst,
- 2:18:20Speaker 4: days if not the worst day of the year for,
- 2:18:22Speaker 4: me because it hurt my. Heart it broke my. FEELINGS
- 2:18:26Speaker 4: i should have swapped, that but it hurt BECAUSE i
- 2:18:31Speaker 4: saw the WHAT i consider one of the GREATEST i
- 2:18:35Speaker 4: know this sounds like a hot, take but it really.
- 2:18:37Speaker 4: Shouldn't if you look at the rest of the, world
- 2:18:39Speaker 4: one of the best justice systems on the, planet and
- 2:18:42Speaker 4: everyone is squirming to get out of, it AND i followed,
- 2:18:46Speaker 4: suit and it bothered the hell out of me THAT
- 2:18:48Speaker 4: i couldn't be there for the one time that my
- 2:18:52Speaker 4: country asked me to be there AND i AND i
- 2:18:55Speaker 4: couldn't do.
- 2:18:56Speaker 23: It i'm sure if you called the clerk's office and,
- 2:18:58Speaker 23: SAID i volunteer For jerry duty next, Week i'm sure
- 2:19:01Speaker 23: they would take.
- 2:19:01Speaker 4: You, yeah there you. Go all, right.
- 2:19:06Speaker 9: So Like.
- 2:19:09Speaker 4: I'm assuming you can't even do that right once a year.
- 2:19:13Speaker 3: Thing, yeah and.
- 2:19:14Speaker 23: They do a buy your driver's, license so like once
- 2:19:16Speaker 23: they filter you, out you gotta wait.
- 2:19:18Speaker 3: Sometimes and there's differences between, counties right oh, yeah, yeah
- 2:19:21Speaker 3: because you were saying In Lake county it's real different
- 2:19:23Speaker 3: than how you would handle it In Lake.
- 2:19:25Speaker 4: County, yeah the jury. County, yeah the jerry.
- 2:19:27Speaker 23: Panel In Orange, county you get like one hundred and
- 2:19:29Speaker 23: fifty to three hundred people showing up for jury, duty
- 2:19:31Speaker 23: and you compare that To Lake, county where you might get.
- 2:19:33Speaker 23: Fifty and it's not just for one, trial that's for
- 2:19:35Speaker 23: like three or four, trials because they do these trial
- 2:19:38Speaker 23: periods kind of kind of bunch them. Together and so
- 2:19:40Speaker 23: when you're talking about you, know fifty or seventy five
- 2:19:42Speaker 23: people showing up and you've got three, trials that basically
- 2:19:45Speaker 23: means like every every trial that's going, on like you've
- 2:19:49Speaker 23: got to pick your jury with that first, pool otherwise
- 2:19:51Speaker 23: they're not gonna have enough jurys for the. Day and
- 2:19:53Speaker 23: so that's why a lot of times they keep you
- 2:19:55Speaker 23: till the end of the day in, case you, know
- 2:19:57Speaker 23: there's an emergency and you know somebody ha to get
- 2:20:00Speaker 23: switched out or. Something so they try to make it
- 2:20:03Speaker 23: as flexible as possible for, people but it is an
- 2:20:05Speaker 23: administrative headache for those for those, clerks AND i DON'T
- 2:20:10Speaker 23: i don't know how they do it sometimes and sometimes they. Don't,
- 2:20:12Speaker 23: honestly right AFTER, covid we didn't have people showing up
- 2:20:16Speaker 23: for jerry, trials and so then they were setting out
- 2:20:18Speaker 23: these letters to people that were threatening people and, saying,
- 2:20:21Speaker 23: hey you should jo up.
- 2:20:22Speaker 3: Jury so can you imagine the Mood jimmy's going to
- 2:20:27Speaker 3: be in tomorrow if he, didn't if he just sat
- 2:20:28Speaker 3: in the waiting, room.
- 2:20:30Speaker 4: He probably read a book all, Day he'll be. Fine oh, yeah,
- 2:20:32Speaker 4: okay he'll be on. TikTok he'll be on TikTok all.
- 2:20:37Speaker 5: Day.
- 2:20:37Speaker 23: Whatever i'm trying to make, him you, know sound like
- 2:20:41Speaker 23: he was doing something.
- 2:20:42Speaker 4: Forductive, yeah, yeah he's scrolling exactly golfing.
- 2:20:46Speaker 2: Videos so what case did you bring us?
- 2:20:48Speaker 23: Today so you, know kind of recently in the, news UH,
- 2:20:52Speaker 23: A i don't know if you've heard ABOUT ai a little,
- 2:20:55Speaker 23: bit but there's A michigan law that was just uh
- 2:21:00Speaker 23: enacted that is going to punish THESE ai generated pornographic
- 2:21:07Speaker 23: images or nudity related, images and and, uh you, know, surprise,
- 2:21:13Speaker 23: Surprise Elon musk and X ai have taken note of
- 2:21:18Speaker 23: that and said we are going to challenge this. Law
- 2:21:20Speaker 23: and so it's an Interesting First amendment issue for number of.
- 2:21:26Speaker 4: Reasons, one.
- 2:21:29Speaker 23: You, know interpreting THE ai generated images or video as protected.
- 2:21:35Speaker 23: Speech you know a lot of times the artistic expression
- 2:21:40Speaker 23: and things like that is the protected part of the protected.
- 2:21:43Speaker 23: Speech and we've already kind of been coming out with
- 2:21:46Speaker 23: these cases that say it's not actually human, generated, RIGHT i, mean,
- 2:21:50Speaker 23: yes there's a prompt that goes into, it but it's
- 2:21:52Speaker 23: not really human. Generated there's nobody who owns this. Material
- 2:21:57Speaker 23: and so it'll be interesting to see see how this
- 2:22:00Speaker 23: case is. Decided you, Know on one, HAND i think
- 2:22:04Speaker 23: to some, credit this is a pretty broad. Law it
- 2:22:07Speaker 23: doesn't you, know narrowly attack it LIKE i Think florida's
- 2:22:12Speaker 23: law AND ai generated stuff has to deal, with you,
- 2:22:14Speaker 23: know stuff that could depict children or stuff like, that
- 2:22:18Speaker 23: and so it's a little bit more narrowly. Defined but
- 2:22:21Speaker 23: this one seems pretty. Broad, well what about.
- 2:22:24Speaker 3: The rights of the person whose photos were taken off
- 2:22:26Speaker 3: of their social media, sites you, know their own personal.
- 2:22:30Speaker 3: Photos where did the protections come in to your body
- 2:22:35Speaker 3: not being turned into a pornographic image possibly making, money
- 2:22:39Speaker 3: you having no, say no.
- 2:22:40Speaker 23: Rights, well in this, LAW i don't think directly attacks that.
- 2:22:44Speaker 23: ISSUE i think that's something that a lot of states
- 2:22:46Speaker 23: have been, challenging is you can't take this and they
- 2:22:50Speaker 23: don't call it deep.
- 2:22:51Speaker 4: Fakes they call it something, else deeper. Fakes that just
- 2:22:57Speaker 4: makes you sound dirty, Exactly.
- 2:23:02Speaker 23: But, NO i good take. That so this one doesn't
- 2:23:07Speaker 23: expressly attack that. ISSUE i do think that that's a valid,
- 2:23:10Speaker 23: issue AND i think that states have the ability to
- 2:23:13Speaker 23: certainly restrict, that not even on free speech.
- 2:23:15Speaker 2: Grounds synthetic, likeness, yeah something like, THAT i generated, impersonation
- 2:23:23Speaker 2: synthetic media since digital, FORGERY i like all.
- 2:23:28Speaker 4: THOSE i like all. THOSE i hadn't heard. Of the synthetic.
- 2:23:34Speaker 2: Media, yeah synthetic portrait is another.
- 2:23:36Speaker 23: One BUT i do think that that is going to be,
- 2:23:41Speaker 23: easily you, know sustained as far as the criminal prosecution.
- 2:23:44Speaker 4: Goes but this, ONE i don't. Know you, know these cases.
- 2:23:50Speaker 23: Are always going to be kind of determined a little
- 2:23:54Speaker 23: bit in a way that's arbitrary because we don't have
- 2:23:57Speaker 23: the statutes in place right now to deal with how
- 2:24:00Speaker 23: are we going to DEFINE ai generated content and who it's
- 2:24:04Speaker 23: negatively impacting and who owns? It and because we don't
- 2:24:07Speaker 23: have those, things it'll be hard for a legislature to,
- 2:24:11Speaker 23: then you, know outlaw.
- 2:24:13Speaker 19: It.
- 2:24:13Speaker 4: Right it's because it's literally the opposite of that one
- 2:24:18Speaker 4: time when one politician, said, well you know it when
- 2:24:21Speaker 4: you see. It you, know that was the standard before
- 2:24:23Speaker 4: The miller. Test, yeah that was the, standard and now
- 2:24:27Speaker 4: you don't know when you see, it, no.
- 2:24:29Speaker 3: Exactly but therein lies another, question, right because with all
- 2:24:33Speaker 3: of THIS, ai it's like the social media. Argument it
- 2:24:37Speaker 3: seems like once again we're trying to put the toothpaste
- 2:24:41Speaker 3: back in the, tube and we're dragging our feet a little,
- 2:24:44Speaker 3: bit it seems like in the judicial branch and legislative
- 2:24:47Speaker 3: so that by the time the laws come, up THE
- 2:24:49Speaker 3: ais already well advanced past.
- 2:24:52Speaker 4: That, well AND i.
- 2:24:53Speaker 23: Agree with you kind of relating the two. Together there
- 2:24:55Speaker 23: was That New mexico case that we talked about about
- 2:24:57Speaker 23: a month. Ago in it was the metal lawsuit In New,
- 2:25:02Speaker 23: mexico and the court just awarded ANOTHER i think it
- 2:25:06Speaker 23: was like five hundred million dollar damages, claim you, know
- 2:25:11Speaker 23: for meta being designed in a way that was detrimental
- 2:25:15Speaker 23: to the users and misrepresentation and things like, that AND
- 2:25:19Speaker 23: i think you will see things like that coming out
- 2:25:22Speaker 23: of THE ai. Sphere you, know the big issue in
- 2:25:26Speaker 23: that case we talked about it Was section two thirty
- 2:25:28Speaker 23: didn't apply to Protect facebook And meta from these. Claims
- 2:25:34Speaker 23: AND i think you will see similar things like that
- 2:25:36Speaker 23: happening WITH ai because they have the ability.
- 2:25:40Speaker 4: To implement.
- 2:25:43Speaker 21: Like.
- 2:25:44Speaker 23: Watermark, yeah that's WHAT i was trying to, say is
- 2:25:47Speaker 23: watermarks are some type of identification that this was AN
- 2:25:49Speaker 23: ai generated video.
- 2:25:51Speaker 2: Because anthropic just came out with their. Watermark oh did?
- 2:25:53Speaker 4: They, YEAH i didn't see.
- 2:25:54Speaker 23: That GRANTED i don't create a lot of videos or
- 2:25:59Speaker 23: pictures using.
- 2:26:00Speaker 2: But there's someone out there who can help you with.
- 2:26:03Speaker 3: That, Yeah i'm, Sure, yeah, exactly, exactly most.
- 2:26:09Speaker 23: Likely SO i think it'll be, interesting but it's it'll
- 2:26:14Speaker 23: it'll be really interesting to see how the court, rules
- 2:26:16Speaker 23: BECAUSE i, mean, REALLY ai or X ai And Elon
- 2:26:20Speaker 23: musk are taking this approach that it's A First amendment
- 2:26:22Speaker 23: violation and and we'll, see, uh we'll see how that turns.
- 2:26:28Speaker 3: Out so maybe from now, on you, KNOW i, know you,
- 2:26:31Speaker 3: know the recommendation for parents is, like, hey you, know
- 2:26:34Speaker 3: don't post pictures of your. Children, sure you, know don't
- 2:26:38Speaker 3: post pictures that show your house. Address you, know there's
- 2:26:41Speaker 3: all these New maybe that's what we need to. Do
- 2:26:43Speaker 3: just take photos where you, know it's just kind of
- 2:26:47Speaker 3: you're a little bit more.
- 2:26:48Speaker 2: Hidden, YEAH i don't.
- 2:26:49Speaker 23: Know you, KNOW i don't know, though because they scrape
- 2:26:52Speaker 23: all that, information all that. Data even if you, don't
- 2:26:55Speaker 23: your neighbors might AND.
- 2:26:58Speaker 4: I don't. Know it's a scary way with how quickly
- 2:27:01Speaker 4: put all stuff. Together you, know.
- 2:27:02Speaker 3: Anybody else Watched terminator to last night to, go, wow, yeah,
- 2:27:05Speaker 3: no this isn't.
- 2:27:06Speaker 4: Good you watched it last? Night, yeah hell, yeah you
- 2:27:10Speaker 4: should have opened up the show with. That, YEAH i
- 2:27:12Speaker 4: Watched True, Grit, dude the hell yeah? Did because you
- 2:27:16Speaker 4: are oh my, god you are the lead in that.
- 2:27:20Speaker 4: Movie You're. Hamilton I'm.
- 2:27:22Speaker 3: Sarah, Yeah, Sarah Sarah, hamilton crazy Af but.
- 2:27:27Speaker 4: What were we just. Saying we're talking about technology and
- 2:27:30Speaker 4: it growing a lot of, people AND i really want
- 2:27:32Speaker 4: everyone to truly understand What i'm about to. Say a
- 2:27:35Speaker 4: lot of people think technology grows kind of like a
- 2:27:39Speaker 4: roller coaster. Track, yeah, no it does not. Grow one, two, three, four,
- 2:27:44Speaker 4: five six, Seven it grows, one, two, four, eight, sixteen forty,
- 2:27:51Speaker 4: eight seventy nine and grows, exponentially and, LAWS i feel
- 2:27:56Speaker 4: like we're at a. Crossroads are that just we are
- 2:27:59Speaker 4: moving way too slow compared to what's being released on
- 2:28:04Speaker 4: a week to week.
- 2:28:05Speaker 3: Basis Even i've SEEN ai creators, saying, yeah, no you
- 2:28:08Speaker 3: need to move up this timeline. Here we're not talking
- 2:28:11Speaker 3: about waiting for this technology until twenty, thirty, RIGHT i,
- 2:28:15Speaker 3: mean it could be twenty twenty seven when we're going
- 2:28:17Speaker 3: to have groundbreaking technology Into To ross's, point you, know
- 2:28:21Speaker 3: is there do you get a sense from from a,
- 2:28:24Speaker 3: legislative from, legislatures, lawmakers the sense of urgency or not?
- 2:28:30Speaker 23: ENOUGH i think everybody. ACKNOWLEDGES i, mean it's so it's
- 2:28:33Speaker 23: so often talked. ABOUT i think everybody knows that they
- 2:28:38Speaker 23: need to do something about, it, RIGHT i don't think
- 2:28:40Speaker 23: people know how to do something about. It AND i
- 2:28:43Speaker 23: think To ross's, point it is growing exponentially and it's
- 2:28:46Speaker 23: not slowing down anytime.
- 2:28:48Speaker 4: Soon and SO i.
- 2:28:50Speaker 23: Think that part of the struggle is by the time
- 2:28:53Speaker 23: they get a panel together that investigates what's going on
- 2:28:57Speaker 23: WITH ai at this particular, moment once they make those
- 2:29:00Speaker 23: findings back from the committee to the legislature as a.
- 2:29:04Speaker 23: Whole by that, point it's already.
- 2:29:06Speaker 3: Outdated and that's WHERE i feel like the age of
- 2:29:09Speaker 3: our lawmakers really comes into play with this particular, subject
- 2:29:12Speaker 3: because the older the, lawmaker probably the less likely they
- 2:29:16Speaker 3: are to see just how quickly they need to move on,
- 2:29:20Speaker 3: this whereas younger people see that you can't wait to
- 2:29:23Speaker 3: do the committee and the research and the. Whatever there's
- 2:29:25Speaker 3: got to be some framework now.
- 2:29:27Speaker 23: Well AND i think you, know you guys are probably
- 2:29:29Speaker 23: the exception in the sense that you are involving yourselves
- 2:29:33Speaker 23: in the news every single. Day you're looking at it
- 2:29:36Speaker 23: every single. DAY i think most people just kind of be, like,
- 2:29:38Speaker 23: yeah THAT ai, stuff and then kind of put their
- 2:29:40Speaker 23: head down and close their ears off and aren't really paying.
- 2:29:43Speaker 23: Attention but it is moving so, fast so. Fast AND
- 2:29:47Speaker 23: i just heard a case from a judge recently ABOUT
- 2:29:49Speaker 23: ai fabricated evidence local, here and it's just it's turning
- 2:29:56Speaker 23: into a scary.
- 2:29:57Speaker 2: Thing it. IS i saw a real On.
- 2:29:59Speaker 3: Instagram i'm of a man who submitted an original photograph
- 2:30:02Speaker 3: of when he was a baby into three DIFFERENT ai
- 2:30:04Speaker 3: models and they took you, know liberties on what to,
- 2:30:08Speaker 3: add what to take? Away oh, interesting yeah, exactly with
- 2:30:11Speaker 3: no prompt to do. It it was just kind of
- 2:30:13Speaker 3: what they decided to.
- 2:30:14Speaker 4: Do there's so many things that it makes me feel
- 2:30:17Speaker 4: like every generation before me by going like THE, tv
- 2:30:20Speaker 4: the radio is going to ruin the. Humanity THE tv
- 2:30:23Speaker 4: is going to ruin, humanity and now HERE i Am.
- 2:30:25Speaker 2: Internet internet's going to ruin social. Media now is it warming?
- 2:30:30Speaker 7: Up?
- 2:30:30Speaker 4: Yeah, YEAH i think if.
- 2:30:32Speaker 23: You add up The, internet the social, media and THE,
- 2:30:35Speaker 23: ai you probably do have the end of.
- 2:30:36Speaker 4: Humanity yeah. EXACTLY i mean those all three independently all
- 2:30:41Speaker 4: have great glaring. Pros but when you put them all,
- 2:30:45Speaker 4: together well you know what it's. Happening let's find. Out
- 2:30:48Speaker 4: let's find out what the end result.
- 2:30:49Speaker 21: Did.
- 2:30:50Speaker 3: Exactly, Well ray as, always thank you so much for
- 2:30:52Speaker 3: bringing us your legal.

- 2:31:19Speaker 2: threes On ray out of pocket. Threes the three came
- 2:31:23Speaker 2: out in the flop And i'm, Like, Oh i'm going
