- 0:22Well, hello there, everyone, and welcome once again
- 0:26to the ever-popular Inspirations for Your Life
- 0:28show.
- 0:28I'm so glad you decided to join me.
- 0:30First, a few apologies beyond my control.
- 0:35We had been switching software for a while.
- 0:38We were StreamYard for a long time in
- 0:41the very beginning.
- 0:41And then after that, we had an important
- 0:44show to do around the holidays, and we
- 0:47couldn't get into our system when we were
- 0:48traveling.
- 0:49And their response was, well, basically, we have
- 0:53no more phone support.
- 0:55And they said to send an email.
- 0:59So I sent an email.
- 0:59I waited.
- 1:00It took several days.
- 1:02It was a holiday, and it was an
- 1:04emergency.
- 1:05I mean, this is supposed to be support.
- 1:07And they didn't give it to us.
- 1:09So I made a decision that we were
- 1:10leaving them.
- 1:14And so we found another company.
- 1:19And well, that company we've been with for
- 1:21a while, which was OneStream Live.
- 1:24And I got to tell you, the software
- 1:26wasn't perfect, but it worked OK.
- 1:29It wasn't phenomenal.
- 1:32And then what happened was they decided to
- 1:35do an upgrade, OK?
- 1:36So OneStream Live, they're out of Finland.
- 1:40You guys can Google and find their information.
- 1:43First of all, I do not recommend using
- 1:45the company, and I'll tell you why.
- 1:48They have very nice people that answer the
- 1:50phone and things.
- 1:51I mean, the answer, I should say, the
- 1:52chat, they're not really.
- 1:53They will do calls if you need a
- 1:55call.
- 1:56So that's kind of handy.
- 1:58All right.
- 1:59But the big problem I have is that
- 2:02they don't know what the heck they're talking
- 2:04about.
- 2:06And so I went to go use the
- 2:08software this morning to do a stream for
- 2:11something else.
- 2:12And I got a message.
- 2:13It was like eight thirty, nine thirty this
- 2:14morning saying the system is down for updates.
- 2:18It says we'll be back in an hour.
- 2:20So that was like nine thirty.
- 2:22And so then I came back and nine
- 2:24thirty comes and says, oh, we'll be back
- 2:26in an hour.
- 2:28Ten thirty.
- 2:29Ten thirty changes.
- 2:30It's eleven thirty.
- 2:33And I was trying to upload the day
- 2:35in the life with John show, and I
- 2:38couldn't do that was a real mess.
- 2:40So I checked later on the afternoon, like
- 2:42three o'clock, and I couldn't copy and
- 2:44paste things in.
- 2:45So that was a real disaster.
- 2:49So I'm like, this is absolutely insane and
- 2:52still not working.
- 2:54And then I decided to do the inspiration
- 2:57for your life show before.
- 2:58And there are a lot of hiccups with
- 3:00it.
- 3:00Spend some time fixing stuff.
- 3:04The templates didn't work properly.
- 3:05It was just a whole mess.
- 3:08I complained to them.
- 3:10It was completely useless, unfortunately.
- 3:13And so I said, oh, I'm going to
- 3:14put up with this a little while longer.
- 3:16But now this is like, you know, we're
- 3:18going almost.
- 3:19Let's see.
- 3:20So it was in the morning was like
- 3:21nine thirty.
- 3:21So ten thirty, eleven thirty, twelve thirty, one
- 3:23thirty, two thirty.
- 3:25Yeah.
- 3:25So yeah.
- 3:26So ten thirty, eleven thirty, twelve thirty, one
- 3:28thirty, two thirty, three thirty, four thirty, five
- 3:30thirty, six thirty, seven thirty, eight thirty, nine,
- 3:32ten.
- 3:33Over 12 hours, more than that, guys.
- 3:35And this wasn't resolved.
- 3:37And so that really kind of annoyed me.
- 3:47And I think a lot of people didn't
- 3:52expect this.
- 3:53So my big thing I said to that
- 3:54was, hey, guys, you know, if there was
- 3:56an update schedule, don't you think it would
- 3:58be a smart idea to actually let people
- 4:00know?
- 4:00They said we did notify people.
- 4:01Well, you have software that people log in
- 4:03and use every day.
- 4:04Why don't you put a banner on the
- 4:05top and say, hey, we're performing system maintenance.
- 4:08We do this all the time.
- 4:09And it'll be done on this day.
- 4:12And you can't miss it.
- 4:13You have to see the banner every time
- 4:14you log in.
- 4:16They weren't that bright.
- 4:18And so they got people over there trying
- 4:21the hardest they can.
- 4:22But I'll be honest, they're not software developers.
- 4:25So if you're a podcaster, you're a creator
- 4:28like I am, an author or keynote speaker,
- 4:30do not use OneStream Live.
- 4:34It is very pretty.
- 4:35It looks nice with their new features that
- 4:37they have, but they don't work.
- 4:40And it's a mess.
- 4:42Now, let me tell you how bad this
- 4:43got.
- 4:44So after I spent 90 minutes trying to
- 4:47get everything ready for the show, OK, and
- 4:50usually doesn't take long, it takes like five
- 4:51or 10 minutes.
- 4:52So after I got all that ready and
- 4:54then I went on the air, I always
- 4:56check to see what's going on.
- 4:58Well, this time the levels look fine.
- 5:02After the show, I checked it.
- 5:03There was no audio.
- 5:05OK, I'm like, really?
- 5:06There's no audio.
- 5:07But it got worse than that.
- 5:09Before I discovered there was no audio.
- 5:11They couldn't even get my camera to work.
- 5:13My camera was showing the image in the
- 5:15preview, but it would not show it on
- 5:16the show.
- 5:17I said, this is like nonsense.
- 5:19So I reached out to them.
- 5:22And I said, this is crazy.
- 5:26And and I can't believe that a company
- 5:30like this, again, they are called One Stream
- 5:32Live and they are just terrible.
- 5:36And I don't like to complain, but I
- 5:38have been so patient with these people for
- 5:39months.
- 5:40And so that's why there was such a
- 5:41delay in the show.
- 5:42So, again, I do apologize about that.
- 5:46All right, guys, let's go ahead and let's
- 5:50jump into today's show.
- 5:51But again, I do want to thank you.
- 5:52This is your very first time being here.
- 5:54I want to take time to say thank
- 5:56you.
- 5:57And I want to say the words welcome.
- 5:59We've been here one five times, 10, 100
- 6:01or more or forgot the count.
- 6:03I like to say thank you and welcome
- 6:04and also welcome back.
- 6:05You guys are always welcome on my show.
- 6:07And I really do appreciate that here.
- 6:12So I want to definitely thank you for
- 6:14being here.
- 6:14This is a great week that we're having.
- 6:15Oh, if you're thirsty or hungry or what
- 6:17have you, I got a delicious decaf hot
- 6:19tea here.
- 6:23But that was pretty pathetic, guys, when I
- 6:25had to resort to putting up a thumbnail
- 6:28of me, a picture on the screen, because
- 6:30the camera didn't work.
- 6:32They were just a black screen or just
- 6:34a logo screen.
- 6:35So that was just really bad.
- 6:37So, yeah, they're definitely gone.
- 6:40And so we're waiting for them to do
- 6:41a refund.
- 6:42So now we're with Restream Live.
- 6:43Hopefully they're going to work out well.
- 6:46So, ladies and gentlemen, the hardest choice could
- 6:51change your entire life.
- 6:53This is basically series five or season five,
- 6:57show 36, episode number four.
- 7:01Welcome, everyone, to another amazing episode of the
- 7:03Inspirations for Your Life show.
- 7:05I am John C.
- 7:06Morley.
- 7:07I'm a serial entrepreneur, engineer, marketing specialist, video
- 7:10producer, podcast host, coach, keynote speaker, a graduate
- 7:15student at Montclair State University.
- 7:17And so grateful now to be a published
- 7:20author.
- 7:21Yes, guys, great to be published.
- 7:23It's wonderful.
- 7:24So our master weekly topic, in case you
- 7:27guys did not know, is living in a
- 7:30life you never chose.
- 7:32OK, living in a life you never chose.
- 7:34So today I'm talking about the hardest choice
- 7:39that could change your entire life.
- 7:41OK, this is the truth.
- 7:42Sometimes the choice that moves your life forward
- 7:45is the one you keep avoiding.
- 7:47We wait for confidence, certainly.
- 7:51You know, and we try to do that
- 7:53with a lot of patience.
- 7:57Right.
- 7:58But it can be challenging.
- 8:02OK, as we move through life.
- 8:06And so the growth doesn't always feel comfortable.
- 8:09Sometimes the decision that challenges us today creates
- 8:14a better tomorrow for us, but it doesn't
- 8:15seem like that when we're starting.
- 8:17So let's get into our 30 points.
- 8:19OK, number one, easy isn't always better.
- 8:23Easy isn't always better.
- 8:25And I know that might sound that might
- 8:28sound hard for you to understand.
- 8:31But this is the key, guys.
- 8:33Yeah, easy asks.
- 8:36Less from you today, but today's easiest decision
- 8:40can create tomorrow's biggest problem or nightmare.
- 8:44Don't judge a choice only by how comfortable
- 8:48it feels to you at the moment.
- 8:50Ask where it leads.
- 8:53Number two, stop treating discomfort like a warning
- 8:56sign.
- 8:57OK, discomfort doesn't automatically mean something is wrong.
- 9:01No, learning, changing, setting boundaries and trying something
- 9:06unfamiliar and feel uncomfortable while still moving you
- 9:10forward in the right direction.
- 9:11Number three, guys, growth often asks something difficult
- 9:15from you.
- 9:16Growth may require changing a habit, accepting feedback,
- 9:19learning something new, admitting a mistake or entering
- 9:22unfamiliar territory.
- 9:24The different future usually requires different choices.
- 9:29Number four, choose what strengthens you.
- 9:33Difficulty alone is invaluable.
- 9:35Choose challenges that develop discipline, knowledge, judgment, resilience,
- 9:39confidence and capability.
- 9:42The goal isn't suffering.
- 9:45It's becoming stronger.
- 9:47So that's important for us to realize.
- 9:50Right.
- 9:50We want to become stronger, be a better
- 9:52person every day.
- 9:53Number five, stop escaping every uncomfortable situation.
- 9:57People want to stay comfortable.
- 9:58I get it.
- 9:59Right.
- 9:59But if we want to learn, we've got
- 10:02to get a little uncomfortable.
- 10:03OK, got to roll up our sleeves to
- 10:05get a little uncomfortable.
- 10:06If you escape whenever something becomes uncomfortable, discomfort
- 10:10begins controlling your decisions, sometimes staying present long
- 10:15enough to understand the situation is where the
- 10:18growth will actually begin.
- 10:20But you've got to have the courage to
- 10:21do that.
- 10:21All right.
- 10:22Number six, learn the difference between danger and
- 10:25discomfort.
- 10:26Real danger deserves an appropriate response.
- 10:30Discomfort may simply mean something is, well, let's
- 10:34say, unfamiliar at the moment.
- 10:37Knowing the difference keeps fear from automatically choosing
- 10:40your direction.
- 10:42Number seven, difficult decisions can create easier futures.
- 10:48Yeah, they can.
- 10:50Learning the skill is difficult.
- 10:52Establishing a boundary is difficult.
- 10:56Having the conversation, of course, you know, guys,
- 10:59is that's right.
- 11:01It's difficult.
- 11:04Yeah, it is difficult.
- 11:06But today's difficult decisions may prevent tomorrow's larger
- 11:10problem.
- 11:11So number eight is stop expecting growth to
- 11:14feel convenient.
- 11:16Growth doesn't wait for an empty calendar or
- 11:19perfect motivation.
- 11:22Challenges and opportunities can arrive when you're busy,
- 11:26you're tired or even uncertain about what you're
- 11:29doing.
- 11:30Number nine, do what your future requires.
- 11:35Ask what the person you're trying to become
- 11:37needs you to do today.
- 11:39Your future is being influenced by the decisions
- 11:42you're making right now.
- 11:44Number 10, choose discipline when motivation disappears.
- 11:51That tea is delicious.
- 11:53So motivation changes us.
- 11:56Discipline keeps you moving when excitement disappears because
- 11:59the excitement does wane, right?
- 12:02If something matters, don't make your commitment completely
- 12:05dependent on today's feelings.
- 12:08Okay.
- 12:08Number 11, let discomfort teach you.
- 12:11Instead of immediately escaping discomfort, investigate it.
- 12:15What is it revealing?
- 12:17Maybe there's a skill to develop, a fear
- 12:19to understand, or a conversation you've avoided.
- 12:24Number 12, stop negotiating with every challenge.
- 12:30Once you've determined something matters, don't reopen the
- 12:33entire decision whenever it becomes inconvenient.
- 12:37Constant negotiation uses energy.
- 12:40You could be spending and actually achieving your
- 12:43progress.
- 12:44If people don't think about the energy they
- 12:47burn.
- 12:48Number 13, build your tolerance for difficult moments.
- 12:51You don't need every moment to feel comfortable.
- 12:55Learn to think clearly when you're frustrated, uncertain,
- 12:58or even under pressure.
- 13:00You see that ability expands what you can
- 13:03actually handle.
- 13:05All right.
- 13:06Number 14, choose long-term benefit over immediate
- 13:10relief.
- 13:11Immediate relief feels good.
- 13:13Avoiding the conversation or postponing the decision feels
- 13:17much easier, but ask what today's relief might
- 13:21cost tomorrow.
- 13:22We don't think about that often, right?
- 13:25But we need to think about what we
- 13:28do today has consequences tomorrow.
- 13:31All right.
- 13:32Number 15, stop quitting because progress becomes uncomfortable.
- 13:39I said success is going to happen when
- 13:40it gets uncomfortable.
- 13:42So just deal with that.
- 13:44Beginnings can be exciting.
- 13:45Eventually the work becomes repetitive or difficult.
- 13:48Don't automatically interpret discomfort as evidence that you're
- 13:52on the wrong path.
- 13:54Okay.
- 13:55Might be teaching you something, how to pivot,
- 13:58right?
- 13:58How to turn.
- 13:59Number 16, let resistance reveal where growth is
- 14:03needed.
- 14:04Notice what you repeatedly avoid.
- 14:07Resistance doesn't always mean you should push forward,
- 14:10but it can reveal something important.
- 14:12Understand why you're resisting.
- 14:15Hmm.
- 14:18We resist things we're fearful of.
- 14:20And then we need to learn a lesson.
- 14:23Number 17, make the call you've been avoiding,
- 14:27right?
- 14:28Make that call, right?
- 14:30Make the call you've been avoiding.
- 14:32Sometimes one phone call occupies your thoughts for
- 14:35days, prepares yourself, know what you need to
- 14:38communicate and what the call is about.
- 14:42Anticipation can become worse than the actual reality.
- 14:46And that can keep people up for days.
- 14:49Number 18, have the conversation.
- 14:54You're post-spo.
- 14:56Avoiding a difficult conversation doesn't make the issue
- 14:59disappear.
- 15:00Respectful honesty today can prevent resentment, confusion, larger
- 15:05problems and disaster tomorrow.
- 15:07So why not nip it in the bud
- 15:09today?
- 15:11Number 19, start before you feel completely ready.
- 15:15Preparation matters, but complete readiness may never arrive.
- 15:20Eventually another hour of thinking becomes less valuable
- 15:23than taking the first responsible step.
- 15:27We gotta be aware of these things, guys.
- 15:30Number 20, stop waiting for courage to feel
- 15:33comfortable.
- 15:33It's not going to arrive.
- 15:35Courage doesn't require fear to disappoint.
- 15:37You can understand this uncertainty, feel nervous, and
- 15:40still make a thoughtful decision to move forward,
- 15:43guys.
- 15:43Number 21, accept temporary difficulty for lasting improvement.
- 15:49Many worthwhile changes require adjustment.
- 15:53Learning takes effort.
- 15:54Building takes time.
- 15:55New habits require repetition.
- 15:58Temporary difficulty can create lasting improvement.
- 16:02Choose growth even when nobody applauds.
- 16:06Yeah.
- 16:08You see, you don't need somebody to pat
- 16:09you on the back.
- 16:10You don't need somebody to say, yeah, you
- 16:12did a great job.
- 16:13Be your own cheerleader.
- 16:15Some of your most important decisions happen privately.
- 16:18You don't need applause, recognition, likes, or permission
- 16:21for every improvement you're making, of course not.
- 16:25Number 23, let difficult experiences build the capability
- 16:29you've been waiting for.
- 16:30When you overcome something challenging, don't only celebrate
- 16:33that it's finished.
- 16:35Ask what you learned and what you're now
- 16:38better prepared to handle.
- 16:40Number 24, stop running toward whatever feels easiest.
- 16:45A lot of people do this.
- 16:47And so ease isn't automatically bad, but it
- 16:52shouldn't determine every direction.
- 16:54If every choice is based on avoiding discomfort,
- 16:58you can quietly limit your future.
- 17:02And I don't think people want to limit
- 17:03their future, but it just sort of happens.
- 17:07Number 25, make choices your future self will
- 17:11actually appreciate.
- 17:13Imagine yourself one year from today, looking back
- 17:16at this decision, which choice would that future
- 17:20version of me be grateful that I made?
- 17:25We don't think about the fact that our
- 17:29choices and our thoughts and our actions, they
- 17:32have consequences.
- 17:33There's positive consequences and negative consequences, right?
- 17:36Just like there's good karma and bad karma.
- 17:38I always say what you put out in
- 17:40the world will always come back to you.
- 17:42Not today, not tomorrow, not next week, but
- 17:44it will come back to you.
- 17:45That I, that I do do promise you.
- 17:47So number 26 guys, trust yourself through uncertainty.
- 17:52Trust doesn't mean believing everything will work perfectly.
- 17:56It means believing you can think, learn, adjust,
- 17:58and respond as new information becomes available.
- 18:03Not hard guys.
- 18:04You can actually do this every single day
- 18:08of your life.
- 18:10Number 27, become stronger through deliberate challenges.
- 18:14You see capability develops through use.
- 18:17Choose challenges that responsibly stretch you, learn what
- 18:21works for you, adjust what doesn't, and allow
- 18:24experiences to make you stronger than you are
- 18:27right now.
- 18:28I think a lot of people today, they
- 18:33get confused with the word stronger means.
- 18:35Stronger doesn't mean that you're going to have,
- 18:39um, you know, the ability to lift anything
- 18:43you want.
- 18:43That's not what I mean by strong.
- 18:44I'm talking about strong mentally, not just physically.
- 18:47I'm talking about mentally.
- 18:49And when we are able to be strong
- 18:51mentally, the limit to what we can do
- 18:54is nothing.
- 18:56All right.
- 18:56You can do anything we want.
- 18:58Number 28, comfort can quietly become a cage.
- 19:04Comfort feels safe because it's familiar, but familiar
- 19:08doesn't automatically mean good guys.
- 19:10Sometimes we remain somewhere without growing because we
- 19:15know what to expect.
- 19:16And we're afraid to go beyond the cup,
- 19:19beyond the envelope, right?
- 19:23We know that when we get up in
- 19:25the morning, this is what we're going to
- 19:26expect.
- 19:26Or we know that when we do this,
- 19:28this is what we're going to expect.
- 19:28We're not chasing for something else, right?
- 19:32We're not trying to learn anything really special.
- 19:36Number 29 guys, the harder road may lead
- 19:41somewhere better.
- 19:42I know you might say, but John, I
- 19:44always want to take the easier road.
- 19:46It's going to be much better for me,
- 19:47but it's actually not.
- 19:49The harder option isn't automatically right.
- 19:51And the easiest isn't automatically wrong.
- 19:56Look, is it automatically wrong?
- 19:58And so what I mean by that is
- 19:59look beyond the first few steps and ask
- 20:03yourself where each road actually takes me, where
- 20:06is it going to lead me?
- 20:07Is it going to take me to a
- 20:10new frontier that could give me some great
- 20:12opportunities or is it going to lead me
- 20:15somewhere that's going to give me chaos and
- 20:18disaster and disappointment, right?
- 20:22We have a right in life to make
- 20:24the choices we want.
- 20:26We want to do it politely.
- 20:28We don't want to be rude, but we
- 20:31don't need to apologize to someone that we're
- 20:33actually taking a different pathway.
- 20:36No, we don't need to do that.
- 20:39Okay.
- 20:40The hardest option isn't automatically right, guys.
- 20:43You probably knew that.
- 20:45And the easiest isn't automatically wrong.
- 20:48So look beyond the first few steps and
- 20:52ask where each road actually will lead you.
- 20:55You'll be able to tell if you're on
- 20:58the right pathway.
- 20:59Number 30, choose the difficulty that moves your
- 21:02life forward.
- 21:04Life contains difficulty, whether we choose it or
- 21:07not.
- 21:08There's the difficulty of learning and the difficulty
- 21:10of remaining unprepared.
- 21:13There's the difficulty of discipline and the difficulty
- 21:16of consequences.
- 21:17There's the difficulty of an honest conversation and
- 21:21the difficulty of allowing a problem to grow.
- 21:24There's the difficulty of setting a boundary and
- 21:27the difficulty of repeatedly allowing it to be
- 21:29crossed.
- 21:31There's the difficulty of starting and the difficulty
- 21:34of wondering what might have happened if I
- 21:38actually try.
- 21:40So I want to encourage everyone today, regardless
- 21:43of what you're thinking, to start choosing things
- 21:46intentionally, not just because they're there.
- 21:50See, that's where today's episode connects to our
- 21:53master weekly topic.
- 21:55Stop living in a life you never chose.
- 21:58We began this week by questioning rules we
- 22:00may have inherited.
- 22:02Then we asked whether the goals we're chasing
- 22:05genuinely belong to us.
- 22:07Next, we examined how our thinking influences our
- 22:12direction.
- 22:13Today, awareness has to become action.
- 22:17You can recognize what isn't working.
- 22:19You can understand why.
- 22:20You can even know what probably needs to
- 22:23happen next, if you're intentional.
- 22:26Eventually, you have to choose, ladies and gentlemen.
- 22:28Maybe you need to say yes or you
- 22:32need to say no.
- 22:33Maybe you need to leave something behind or
- 22:36begin something new.
- 22:38Maybe you need to admit something isn't working,
- 22:41ask for help, or establish a boundary.
- 22:44Maybe you simply need to take the first
- 22:46step without knowing exactly what step 10 will
- 22:51look like.
- 22:52Courage, folks, isn't always dramatic.
- 22:55Sometimes courage is making the call while you're
- 22:59nervous.
- 23:00It's asking the question even though you may
- 23:02not like the answer.
- 23:04It's saying no when yes would be easier.
- 23:07It's beginning when nobody can guarantee the outcome.
- 23:11But difficulty by itself isn't growth.
- 23:15Ask whether the difficulty is taking you somewhere
- 23:17worthwhile or leading you on a goose chase.
- 23:20Is it developing capability?
- 23:22Is it protecting something important?
- 23:24Is it solving a problem that avoidance would
- 23:26make worse?
- 23:27Is it moving you toward the life you
- 23:30genuinely want?
- 23:32Now that we can think about that, let's
- 23:36ponder one decision you've been postponing.
- 23:38And let's make a decision on it.
- 23:41What are you waiting for?
- 23:42More information, more confidence, permission, perfect timing, a
- 23:46guarantee, not going to happen.
- 23:48If you need more information, go get it.
- 23:50If you need preparation, prepare for it.
- 23:53If you need qualified guidance, go seek it.
- 23:56But don't you dare wait forever for uncertainty
- 23:58to disappear because it's not going to.
- 24:01At some point, make the best responsible decision
- 24:04you can with the information available.
- 24:06Then learn, adjust, respond, and keep moving.
- 24:11That's how experiences develops.
- 24:15That's how capability grows.
- 24:16That's how confidence becomes real.
- 24:19Sometimes an entire life begins changing because you
- 24:22finally made the call, had the conversation, established
- 24:26the boundary, started something new, or stopped something
- 24:30that no longer belongs in your future.
- 24:33So ask yourself one final question.
- 24:36Can you do that?
- 24:38What difficult choice would genuinely move my life
- 24:43forward right now?
- 24:47And when you get the answer, don't be
- 24:49afraid to respond.
- 24:51Don't ask which choice looks impressive or gets
- 24:55the most applause.
- 24:55Who really cares?
- 24:58It's not the big steps that lead to
- 25:01success.
- 25:02Took me a lot of years to learn
- 25:03this.
- 25:03It's the small, consistent steps that put us
- 25:08on the path to success.
- 25:10Don't automatically choose whatever feels easiest.
- 25:15Ask where it leads.
- 25:18Ask what it builds.
- 25:21Ask what it costs.
- 25:24Then make the decision your future self will
- 25:27be grateful you made.
- 25:29I think a lot of people today are
- 25:32going to hedge that because they're not really
- 25:34sure of where it's going.
- 25:39And I get that, Lee.
- 25:40I really do get that.
- 25:42But I think we have to realize that
- 25:44there is no perfect time for any of
- 25:47this.
- 25:48That's important, guys.
- 25:49And I think the sooner you understand that,
- 25:52the sooner your life is going to change.
- 25:55Ladies and gentlemen, I am John C.
- 25:57Morley.
- 25:57I'm a serial entrepreneur, engineer, and so much
- 26:00more.
- 26:00And remember, ladies and gentlemen, easy isn't always
- 26:04better.
- 26:07Discomfort isn't automatically danger.
- 26:11Courage doesn't have to feel comfortable.
- 26:15Your future may require something from you that
- 26:18your present self would rather avoid.
- 26:21It could be learning a new skill.
- 26:24It could be starting a new relationship.
- 26:28It could be accepting constructive criticism.
- 26:33It could be learning how to give constructive
- 26:35criticism to other people.
- 26:40Your future may require something from you that
- 26:42your present self would rather avoid.
- 26:44What is that?
- 26:44Let's ask that again.
- 26:46I think it comes down to the fact
- 26:48that maybe we feel we're not ready yet.
- 26:51Or not this, or I'm not this, or
- 26:52I'm not that.
- 26:53And the more you say, I'm not, I'm
- 26:54not, I'm not, that's exactly what you're going
- 26:57to get.
- 26:58And you're going to keep building the fact
- 27:00that you're really not confident.
- 27:02But if we change the verbiage, guess what?
- 27:06We're going to feel a lot better.
- 27:08I want to invite all of you right
- 27:10now to please choose intentionally, carefully.
- 27:18And when difficulty is unavoidable, choose the difficulty
- 27:23that moves your life forward.
- 27:28Guys, that's a lot.
- 27:30That's a lot to think about, isn't it?
- 27:33It's a lot.
- 27:34But you guys can do this.
- 27:36You have this.
- 27:37You have to understand that it's about you.
- 27:41Okay.
- 27:42It's about your choices.
- 27:45And the fact that you don't need somebody
- 27:48to cheer you on or to pat you
- 27:51on the back.
- 27:53You're more powerful than you think.
- 27:55I'm John C.
