- 0:00SPEAKER_00: What worked for me might not work for you.
- 0:02SPEAKER_00: Maybe it's not good for you to not eat all the time.
- 0:06SPEAKER_00: Maybe you need to eat all the time.
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: But basically, when I look back at my entire life, it all started right in the early 70s.
- 0:14SPEAKER_00: Well, maybe later 70s, we'll put it that way.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: And that's when they had that fat is bad and you should get rid of it because that's what makes us fat.
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: And then of course, since then that's been debunked.
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: So then there's all these other people talking about as far as food goes, the proper things to eat.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: What I actually realized is yes, the type of food, the quality of food, all that stuff plays a big part.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: But for me, I was eating too often.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: So I started to take more and more time off.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: And it wasn't easy at the beginning.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: I missed a meal here, and then I was able to miss a day of eating, then two days of eating, and then multiple days of missing not or missing eating.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: So I was basically fasting.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: And that actually worked out very well.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: And then you're going to see if you start crawling down this rabbit hole of whether it's good for you or bad for you, you're going to find people on both sides of the aisle.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: But for me, it actually worked out, and I was able to torch off 135 pounds, still able to build muscle more than I've ever built before.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: And I waited till I got into my 50s.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: And now I'm 55 and I'm still continuing the process.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: And nothing's changed.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: I'm able to now maintain by doing still bouts of fasting, three and four-day fasts.
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: I'll do a one-day fast.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: One day I might even go dry.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: I might not have any water for a day or two plus no food, which I know is nuts, but this stuff worked for me.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: And it seems to just the the muscle is still there, it's still growing.
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: And this is how I changed my body from having that massive 65-inch waste to the mid-30s.
- 1:50SPEAKER_00: And here I am, and I believe if I look at my all of my numbers, my triglycerides, my blood, I was also type 2 diabetic, all of that changed where I don't have any of those issues anymore, and I take zero medication, that as we get older, folks, is going to be incredibly important because right now, with the cost of medicine and and health care, and even just going to see a doctor, it really does create issues.
- 2:18SPEAKER_00: So because I was able to move my body into now this state, and I still use fasting every week to keep where I'm at.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: And if I get a little bit out of line, because I still have those those qualities as far as what I'm eating, I still am very addictive to certain types of food, of course, high sugar, the stuff that has sugar and fat combined, of course, that's wonderful, right?
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: But when you eat that stuff, your body, it does some damage if you eat too much of it.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: To do that reset, and I'm not talking about binging and purging, but to do that reset, if I go to a party, somebody's house, even out to dinner with people, and I decide what I normally eat, which is mainly very high protein and fat, but not really having any kind of carbohydrates included in the meals, at least not much, I do see if I go outside of that, then another day of fasting, or even a day of dry, or even 16 or 18 hours dry, resets me and puts me back to where I was before.
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: What I'm very careful of is if I let that get too far out of whack, if I'm looking at myself and I'm missing some of the what I can see skin and I'm seeing more of a layer of fat come on, or my face is more rounded and not as gaunt, then I know that maybe I've got gone a little bit outside of the bounds of what I'm normally used to, so then I'll do two or three days fasting.
- 3:46SPEAKER_00: What ends up working for me might not work for you.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: It's really important that you go talk to healthcare providers and these sorts of people and ask them if you should be missing a meal or two.
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: If they say no, again, you're gonna have to decide for yourself what is.
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: I do know if people are taking medication, I was taking insulin.
- 4:07SPEAKER_00: When I started one of the longest fasts I've ever done, what I realized is I was actually overwhelming my body, so I had to not inject that, and that was per the doctor's order.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: But in that case, he didn't like the idea that I was going multiple days without eating, and it actually fixed those issues that I had.
- 4:31SPEAKER_00: Something to consider, but realistically, you find out very quickly whether you're addicted to things once you cut them out completely, even for just a short period of time.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: I remember when I used to smoke cigarettes, trying to go three or four days without smoking cigarettes was incredibly difficult to be done.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: You still woke up that next day.
- 4:53SPEAKER_00: There was a point that through just awareness, maybe loving myself more, I just quit.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: I didn't pick up another one after I've tried and tried hundreds of times to quit.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: It was the same thing with food.
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: I dieted here, I tried the Atkins diet, I tried Eat Right for Your Blood type, I tried all these different programs, and actually turned out that what I was doing was just overconsuming all the time, making food the central point of my life.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: Now food is just something that I do because I like the way I feel better, not embracing the food and not hunting it constantly and not constantly thinking about it.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: Because I know I can go multiple days right now.
- 5:38SPEAKER_00: I have plenty of surplus on my body now that I could go two or three months without eating any food.
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: I know that would be the case.
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: I would be able to preserve my muscle and just like I did before, and actually build muscle, maybe not going that long.
- 5:55SPEAKER_00: I usually restrict my fast to three and four days if I'm trying to achieve something different or trying to cut down in a particular way.
- 6:05SPEAKER_00: But a weekly fast doesn't hurt.
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: Just think about it.
- 6:09SPEAKER_00: Also, like I talked about before, it really is that refeed.
- 6:13SPEAKER_00: It's that time that you decide to start eating again that's really going to show you if you have that control necessary to continue a fasting type lifestyle.
- 6:24SPEAKER_00: And yes, it's nice to give your body a break, your eyesight becomes sharper.
- 6:29SPEAKER_00: I do know that I start thinking more clearly, the head fog lifts when I start treating my body correctly and maybe not eating all the time.
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: I'm Connor.
- 6:39SPEAKER_00: Check it out.
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: We'll be well.
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: Talk to you soon.
