- 0:33Speaker 2: and burglary in Florida. He has an agreement on a
- 0:36Speaker 2: one year deal with the Seahawks, doesn't sign it yet.
- 0:39Speaker 2: It's not official yet. Devin Witherspoon agreed over the weekend.
- 0:42Speaker 2: It was awaited new contract. As expected. It makes him
- 0:45Speaker 2: the highest paid corner in NFL history, at least for
- 0:48Speaker 2: now until Christian Getz always gets his from New England.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Four years, thirty three million dollars per year for Witherspoon,
- 0:54Speaker 2: one hundred and one million guaranteed twenty five year old
- 0:57Speaker 2: is now under Seahawks contract through the twenty thirty one season.
- 1:00Speaker 2: I think that's what people are overlooking.
- 1:02Speaker 3: Go Devin Yetty here.
- 1:04Speaker 2: For a while. None of the twenty two starters on
- 1:08Speaker 2: offensive defense played in the seventeen to seven loss. The
- 1:11Speaker 2: Seahawks had the Dallas in the first preseason game Saturday
- 1:13Speaker 2: night at the stadium. We'll talk on this show about
- 1:16Speaker 2: who helped themselves who didn't in the game. Around the
- 1:20Speaker 2: NFL this weekend, eight time Pro Bowl edge rusher Von Miller,
- 1:23Speaker 2: thirty seven years old, is signing with the Cowboys to
- 1:25Speaker 2: play a fifteenth NFL season. Aaron Donald worked out for
- 1:29Speaker 2: the Rams yet again. Coach Sean McVay said he's hoping
- 1:32Speaker 2: for a decision whether the retired All World defensive tackle
- 1:35Speaker 2: is coming back to play for LA quote sooner than later.
- 1:38Speaker 2: He helped for that decision. We told you what's happening there.
- 1:40Speaker 2: He doesn't want to be any part of training him. Yeah,
- 1:42Speaker 2: it's like show.
- 1:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:46Speaker 2: Mariners beat the chash Cans two out of three in
- 1:48Speaker 2: Houston this past weekend, including three to two yesterday bounce
- 1:52Speaker 2: back finishing at night for Andres Munos for the same
- 1:55Speaker 2: Bryan will left after seventy five pitches with a short
- 1:57Speaker 2: pitching sore pitching shoulder. Manager Dan Wilson said that was precautionary.
- 2:02Speaker 2: WU said there's nothing to worry about Seattle four games
- 2:05Speaker 2: beyond the trash Cans for first place in the Al West,
- 2:07Speaker 2: two and a half out in the wild card race,
- 2:09Speaker 2: thirty seven games left. The next three are in Milwaukee,
- 2:13Speaker 2: remembers at twenty nine games over five hundred neces. Series
- 2:16Speaker 2: starts tomorrow. The Sounders h lost for the club's record
- 2:20Speaker 2: seventh straight MLS match. They lost again.
- 2:23Speaker 4: Two thousand, working that one last night and ho boy,
- 2:28Speaker 4: the fighting Felts are not happy.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Two nail to Vancouver at the stadium, no shots on goal,
- 2:35Speaker 2: just four shots of any kind. They're fewest in seven years.
- 2:37Speaker 2: Eight Sounders regulars are hurt. The eighth was Jesus Ferrera
- 2:41Speaker 2: last night getting subbed off in the thirty six minutes.
- 2:44Speaker 2: Sounders haven't won a MLS match since May thirteen, where
- 2:49Speaker 2: in August. Oh No, this was coach Brian Smetzer after
- 2:53Speaker 2: the latest loss instead of thirty thousand at Moomenfield last night.
- 2:57Speaker 4: I almost have it hold on, hold, hold before we
- 3:03Speaker 4: can play later that's whatever.
- 3:05Speaker 3: Nope, I have it dang tight. Just takes a little
- 3:09Speaker 3: bit to download.
- 3:10Speaker 5: It'd be frustrated if I was a fan too, But
- 3:13Speaker 5: the real fans are gonna stick with us. We're gonna
- 3:16Speaker 5: get better, We're gonna get guys back from injury.
- 3:19Speaker 6: We're gonna win some more games.
- 3:21Speaker 5: Is yere, So you know, I'm asking for a little
- 3:24Speaker 5: bit of patience.
- 3:25Speaker 6: But that's the look.
- 3:27Speaker 5: They paid the ticket, they paid the money. They can
- 3:30Speaker 5: say what they need to say. They can move, they
- 3:32Speaker 5: can leave, that's fine. But the energy and the fight
- 3:36Speaker 5: that the team will show, you know, maybe that's something
- 3:40Speaker 5: that they can latch onto. The players haven't given up
- 3:43Speaker 5: on them. Players are still working, so hopefully the fans
- 3:49Speaker 5: don't give up on the players.
- 3:51Speaker 2: Sonder's coach Brian Smetzer, after a seventh straight MLS loss
- 3:55Speaker 2: for the Sounder storm lost two home games over the
- 3:57Speaker 2: weekend of expansion Portland on Friday eighty eight, stay to
- 4:00Speaker 2: Chicago Stormers seventy and thirty eight. Now in the NBA
- 4:04Speaker 2: thirty seven yames. I've only won seven of them. Then
- 4:06Speaker 2: they Smith Basketball Hall of Fame inducted its twenty twenty
- 4:09Speaker 2: six class in Springfield, Massachusetts. It's Kandas Parker, Eva Dela
- 4:12Speaker 2: don Chami Coles caught Amari Stodameier, plus coaches Doc Rivers,
- 4:16Speaker 2: Mark D'Antoni, and Gonzaga's Mark Few inducted into the Naysmith.
- 4:22Speaker 3: Basketball Very interesting.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Saturday at Wrigley Field. I don't know if Jesman saw this.
- 4:26Speaker 2: She was out having a great time. Cardinals.
- 4:28Speaker 3: You think I was having a great time, do you?
- 4:31Speaker 2: I bet you did. Saturday?
- 4:35Speaker 3: I try my best.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Cardinals rookie Joshua Baiaz became the first player in Major
- 4:41Speaker 2: League history to hit home runs at each of his
- 4:43Speaker 2: first three plate appearances of a career, back to back
- 4:47Speaker 2: to back, and he got a standing ovation from cub
- 4:49Speaker 2: fans at Wrigley And yesterday, twenty six year old twenty
- 4:52Speaker 2: six year Major league pitching great Tommy John died. He
- 4:56Speaker 2: was eighty three years old. Played from nineteen sixty three
- 4:59Speaker 2: to nineteen eighty nine. He was the first to get
- 5:01Speaker 2: a revolutionary ligament replacement surgery in his pitching elbow. It's
- 5:04Speaker 2: now ubiquitous and it's called Tommy Jones surgery. Now, show.
- 5:11Speaker 4: Greg, we are experiencing a little bit of technical issues,
- 5:15Speaker 4: and so return to the Mac will just have to
- 5:17Speaker 4: be me right now because you've.
- 5:21Speaker 3: Got some MAC. Well, it's really kind of a tragic song.
- 5:29Speaker 4: You led to me, and I don't like to lie.
- 5:35Speaker 4: I have to out of necessity sometimes.
- 5:37Speaker 3: But you let me.
- 5:40Speaker 4: Bana ba ba bum bu bu bu bum You led
- 5:45Speaker 4: to me.
- 5:46Speaker 3: Bana bam bum bump, And that's the whole refrain.
- 5:51Speaker 4: But then it's like, return to the Mac is the breakthrough, right,
- 5:57Speaker 4: So let's Sarah, if you're out there listening to us,
- 6:01Speaker 4: the breakthrough is that you actually get the return of
- 6:06Speaker 4: the mac, which is me.
- 6:08Speaker 3: So I'm very sorry for that.
- 6:10Speaker 2: Jessamin McIntire, you don't know back in the studio, great
- 6:14Speaker 2: Bell of the News tribute. Out here at Seahawk Headquarters,
- 6:17Speaker 2: Yes we are. It's Seahawks. It's not training camp anymore.
- 6:20Speaker 2: They're now in their nineteenth practice of the preseason. The
- 6:23Speaker 2: actual training camp has sort of ended. Fans aren't coming
- 6:26Speaker 2: out anymore. Craig. It was half of Hawaii has flooded.
- 6:31Speaker 2: They got three and a half inches of rain in
- 6:33Speaker 2: twenty four hours, not just on the Big Island, but
- 6:36Speaker 2: we're talking on Oahu, on the north shore of o
- 6:39Speaker 2: Waho in Hawaii. So our thoughts to everybody out there.
- 6:43Speaker 2: She told me half the islands flooded and she's okay,
- 6:46Speaker 2: and her house is okay, and the ship is okay.
- 6:48Speaker 2: But good. Yeah, a lot of people are having a
- 6:51Speaker 2: hard time. And these are very rare to have Hawaii
- 6:54Speaker 2: get a direct hit from a hurricane. I think it's
- 6:56Speaker 2: the first time in like one hundred and thirty years
- 6:58Speaker 2: O Wahu got or a Hawaii one got a direct
- 7:01Speaker 2: hit from a hurricane.
- 7:02Speaker 4: So well, they get a lot of weather we've experienced
- 7:07Speaker 4: or witnessed, I should say a lot of it. And yeah,
- 7:11Speaker 4: with the fires and hurricanes, tsunamis Yeah.
- 7:18Speaker 2: On the show today, we'll talk about who helped themselves
- 7:20Speaker 2: who did not. In the Seahawks first preseason game Saturday night,
- 7:22Speaker 2: pretty ugly seventeen to seven lost at Dallas, but none
- 7:25Speaker 2: of the starters play. That's the solace super Bowl champions
- 7:28Speaker 2: weren't quite the Super Bowl champion Saturday night. They will
- 7:31Speaker 2: be Friday, though. That's gonna be Ones versus Ones in Nashville.
- 7:35Speaker 2: I'll be there live with ninety three point three KJRFM.
- 7:38Speaker 2: We'll be broadcasting live from the edge of the practice
- 7:40Speaker 2: field in Nashville. The Titans facility. Second time in three summers,
- 7:43Speaker 2: the Seahawks have done that trick of joint practices followed
- 7:46Speaker 2: by a game at Tennessee. I'll be broadcasting there actually
- 7:50Speaker 2: Thursday Morning show, Friday Morning Show, and Monday Morning show.
- 7:54Speaker 3: Yeah, let's go, right, you get them out there.
- 7:58Speaker 2: Yeah, well, Nashville's not Green base. We'll off a few days.
- 8:01Speaker 3: Actually, yeah, there you go.
- 8:04Speaker 2: You're gonna hear from coach Mike McDonald what he wasn't
- 8:07Speaker 2: happy about Saturday night. In the game ten forty five,
- 8:09Speaker 2: the Mariners won two or three? Are you believing again, Jessman?
- 8:13Speaker 2: Are we now back on track?
- 8:15Speaker 3: Is this I always believe? I really do.
- 8:19Speaker 4: I'm like the ted Lasso of people. I'm a golden
- 8:23Speaker 4: retriever of people.
- 8:26Speaker 3: I do. I do believe.
- 8:30Speaker 2: To coming Dodge text line, do you believe people? Are
- 8:33Speaker 2: they back now that they beat the trash Cans again?
- 8:35Speaker 4: They're nine, They're like back, though, I would just say
- 8:40Speaker 4: I believe they have it in them.
- 8:42Speaker 2: They may regret not winning that Friday game. Their lead is,
- 8:45Speaker 2: their deficit is doubled.
- 8:47Speaker 3: But that's a Friday problem. We're on Monday now.
- 8:50Speaker 2: It could be a problem at the end of September
- 8:53Speaker 2: if they lose the division by a game, because they
- 8:56Speaker 2: could be two games back right now.
- 8:58Speaker 4: Right But that's like a future problem. You have to
- 9:02Speaker 4: go into yesterday's thing. That's why I have like a
- 9:06Speaker 4: million things that I have to do tonight because Sunday
- 9:10Speaker 4: me said Jessaman on Monday, we'll deal with that. Well, no,
- 9:17Speaker 4: it is not nice, crag, because now I have to
- 9:20Speaker 4: deal with it.
- 9:21Speaker 3: And that's where the Mariners are.
- 9:23Speaker 2: Yes, well, now they go to Milwaukee. That's gonna be
- 9:25Speaker 2: no picnic twenty nine games over five hundred birds for
- 9:29Speaker 2: the next three games. We got to talk about and
- 9:31Speaker 2: we will at ten forty five. What was that leadership
- 9:35Speaker 2: from Jerry to Poto with a twenty two, twenty year
- 9:38Speaker 2: old rookie and cold Emerson just talking about his injury
- 9:44Speaker 2: and he should have told us, And what the hell?
- 9:47Speaker 2: What was that he? I thought you about zations. We
- 9:53Speaker 2: talked a lot about leadership on this show just because
- 9:55Speaker 2: I used to be my career. But that ain't it.
- 9:58Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, that was that was almost worth I'm
- 10:02Speaker 2: just gonna say this off the top. We're gonna talk
- 10:03Speaker 2: about it later, but that may be worse than the
- 10:05Speaker 2: fifty four percent comment because at least the fifty four
- 10:08Speaker 2: percent was outside affecting us, right, ticking us off.
- 10:12Speaker 7: Yeah, he's dealing with players in his own clubhouse, in
- 10:16Speaker 7: his own organization, and what he gave ninety million dollars
- 10:19Speaker 7: to guaranteed his career is just starting, and you put
- 10:23Speaker 7: him under the greyhound like that.
- 10:24Speaker 3: I mean, yeah, do you how do you think he transports?
- 10:30Speaker 4: No, I'm very curious because I had a joke with
- 10:33Speaker 4: Bryce Miller about he was the King of I five
- 10:36Speaker 4: during his rehab because he had to go.
- 10:38Speaker 2: Well, Emerson was in Emerson was in Houston, obviously, so
- 10:42Speaker 2: he took a plane back to Seattle. Man, pick a bus.
- 10:47Speaker 2: You used that greyhounds, well, I said, as an euphemism
- 10:52Speaker 2: for throwing him under the bus. But that was, yeah,
- 10:55Speaker 2: that was I just don't you may even think that.
- 10:58Speaker 2: Just don't say that. Public, don't do that. Trying to
- 11:02Speaker 2: bust his ass, trying to he sees Rawley, he sees
- 11:06Speaker 2: a rose arena, he sees can zone, he sees Naylor.
- 11:09Speaker 2: These dudes have been playing hurt all year. A rose
- 11:12Speaker 2: arena can't even run to a fly ball, So don't
- 11:15Speaker 2: tell what twenty year rookie you should have said something
- 11:18Speaker 2: that was.
- 11:19Speaker 3: Just yeah, I'm with you on that.
- 11:23Speaker 2: He doesn't happen with shoes to put in his mouth anymore.
- 11:25Speaker 2: He's just don't say anything that was not.
- 11:31Speaker 3: The greatest quote, that was awful, that was worse that.
- 11:35Speaker 3: You're right, it was worse.
- 11:36Speaker 4: Internally, it's worse than fifty four p Yes, I agree,
- 11:40Speaker 4: I agree to.
- 11:43Speaker 2: Come a Dutch textan if you agree with me. I
- 11:45Speaker 2: told you the buck stops and starts at the very
- 11:48Speaker 2: top of that organization. At eleven o'clock, you're here from
- 11:50Speaker 2: Jalen Milroe. You'll hear what he thought of his performance Saturday.
- 11:53Speaker 2: We'll discuss what he says is the key for him
- 11:56Speaker 2: improving in year two and he didn't do it on
- 12:00Speaker 2: Saturday against Dallas. We'll talk about that eleven thirty year
- 12:03Speaker 2: text and talkbacks and the Coma Dodge text line four nine,
- 12:05Speaker 2: four or five one before Ian Ferness joins me here
- 12:09Speaker 2: for his show from twelve until three. So I already
- 12:12Speaker 2: asked you my first question on the text line, are
- 12:15Speaker 2: you back believing about the Mariner? The second one, what
- 12:17Speaker 2: do you think about the Seahawks first preseason? I know
- 12:20Speaker 2: alarming concerning anything you liked four nine five one. We'll
- 12:25Speaker 2: read that back at eleven thirty of your talkbacks as well.
- 12:28Speaker 2: You go to the iHeartRadio app download it for free.
- 12:30Speaker 2: Of him and done so already go to nine through
- 12:32Speaker 2: three KJR. There's a red microphone button at the top.
- 12:35Speaker 2: There's also a red microphone button at the top of
- 12:37Speaker 2: our website nine three three kjr dot com. Leave a
- 12:41Speaker 2: thirty second voicemail Messing and Jasmin loves those. She'll play
- 12:44Speaker 2: it back.
- 12:44Speaker 3: You know, I do.
- 12:45Speaker 2: I can say anything. She's just gonna play it back.
- 12:47Speaker 3: I know I edit them.
- 12:50Speaker 2: Okay, so you've had the people singing, you've had I mean.
- 12:54Speaker 3: I really like those.
- 12:55Speaker 2: I know you creative, That's true. That just just to
- 12:58Speaker 2: let you know though, if you're has a to leave
- 13:00Speaker 2: a talk back to bars line.
- 13:02Speaker 4: I encourage you to all be creative and be a
- 13:06Speaker 4: part of the show. That's what that eleven thirty segment
- 13:09Speaker 4: is all about.
- 13:10Speaker 2: When I was in the press box Saturday night at
- 13:13Speaker 2: Loomenfield watching that preseason game, it struck me how different
- 13:18Speaker 2: we are from just a year ago with the offensive line.
- 13:21Speaker 2: Remember last year at this time, it was what's this
- 13:24Speaker 2: new offensive line going to look like? With a new
- 13:25Speaker 2: line coach John Benton putting an outside zone. Who's gonna start,
- 13:29Speaker 2: Who's going to be? The center is over with Timmy
- 13:31Speaker 2: gonna win the job. Finally, what's this rookie gray'sabele the
- 13:35Speaker 2: first round pick. What's he going to look like? And
- 13:37Speaker 2: now a year later, man, none is that? The thought
- 13:42Speaker 2: now is none of those five starting offensive linemen who
- 13:45Speaker 2: are all returning better get hurt this year because the backups.
- 13:49Speaker 2: Oh my gosh, that was not Dallas's starters that were
- 13:53Speaker 2: running them over Saturday night either. Obviously, the Cowboys rested
- 13:56Speaker 2: their starters and their reserve defensive front just manhandled the
- 14:01Speaker 2: Seahawks to the point that the Seahrowks are just doing
- 14:04Speaker 2: takedowns like two point wrestling takedowns Greco Roman style. Later
- 14:09Speaker 2: in the game, Logan Brown had three penalties, two of
- 14:12Speaker 2: them for holding. There was a holding call on bo
- 14:15Speaker 2: Stevens that wiped out of They're pretty much ruined the
- 14:20Speaker 2: hurry up drive at the end of the first half.
- 14:22Speaker 2: The fifth round pick from Iowa, it was not good.
- 14:25Speaker 2: There was a holding penalty that wiped out of Jalon
- 14:28Speaker 2: Milroe run for a first down on fourth and two
- 14:31Speaker 2: that cost him perhaps seven points. That was the drive
- 14:33Speaker 2: that Jason Myers missed the field goal on. Yeah, the
- 14:36Speaker 2: offensive line was an issue to say the least. And
- 14:41Speaker 2: John Benton can't be too thrilled with what the depth
- 14:43Speaker 2: looks like again because they were playing Dallas' reserves as well.
- 14:48Speaker 2: But on the plus side, who helped him, Montory Foster.
- 14:52Speaker 2: He's like a friend of the show now right. We
- 14:56Speaker 2: had him like two weeks ago now on the show
- 14:59Speaker 2: to telling us about his exploits in Ohio during the
- 15:02Speaker 2: Seahawks season. Last year, he was a substitute teacher for
- 15:05Speaker 2: freshmen and juniors at Lakewood Saint Edg's High School. St.
- 15:09Speaker 2: Edward High School just west of Cleveland where he grew up,
- 15:12Speaker 2: and he was teaching Latin. He disclosed that after the game.
- 15:16Speaker 2: He said, Yeah, I don't know any Latin. I'd get
- 15:18Speaker 2: in the class and I'd just tell them, Okay, a.
- 15:21Speaker 4: Lot of our language is derivative of Latin, so it's
- 15:25Speaker 4: not letting that far off.
- 15:28Speaker 2: That was hard to learn. I did it middle I
- 15:29Speaker 2: took Latin in middle school and I ended up loving
- 15:32Speaker 2: it and it helped me in all my other languages.
- 15:33Speaker 2: But that's hard to learn. It's all organization.
- 15:36Speaker 3: I see you.
- 15:36Speaker 4: You have a huge diction, which is one of the
- 15:39Speaker 4: things that I like to say when people come at me.
- 15:42Speaker 3: I'm like, I have a huge diction.
- 15:45Speaker 4: And also I think that it plays to your skills
- 15:49Speaker 4: because it helps with communication.
- 15:51Speaker 2: It does, and it is the basis of romance language
- 15:54Speaker 2: and all that. Well, that's why Foster decided it. He's Latin.
- 15:57Speaker 2: I'm just the kids would come into class and it
- 15:59Speaker 2: just don't get in trouble, don't be loud. But he
- 16:03Speaker 2: was doing that last season while the Seahawks were marching
- 16:06Speaker 2: to the Super Bowl. You remember the story. The Seahawks
- 16:09Speaker 2: cut him last August seventh, twenty twenty five, for a
- 16:12Speaker 2: hamstring injury. He wasn't too hurt, but they released him
- 16:14Speaker 2: because they didn't have plants for him anyway. He was
- 16:16Speaker 2: an undrafted rookie from Michigan State. He had played just
- 16:19Speaker 2: one year of high school football at Saint Edwards High School.
- 16:23Speaker 2: He was a basketball store had two Division one offers
- 16:25Speaker 2: from Akron in east western Kentucky, and then they call him.
- 16:29Speaker 2: The Seahawks call him back in December. He had stayed
- 16:32Speaker 2: in shape in football catching shape by recruiting seven a
- 16:36Speaker 2: regular Joe off the street in a gym that became
- 16:39Speaker 2: his friend of Cleveland area, a high school quarterback ten
- 16:42Speaker 2: years ago who just walked in and he said it
- 16:44Speaker 2: was some random guy walked up to him in a
- 16:45Speaker 2: Planet fitness type gym and said, Hey, I heard you're
- 16:48Speaker 2: in the Seattle Seahawks NFL training camp. You want me
- 16:51Speaker 2: to be your quarterback? He's like, hey, who are you?
- 16:54Speaker 2: And he ended up saying, Okay, let's go throw and
- 16:57Speaker 2: they threw all during last season and Ed had foster
- 17:00Speaker 2: for when the Seahawks called in December, late December, between
- 17:03Speaker 2: Christmas and New Years they called him back on the
- 17:05Speaker 2: practice squad. He was on the practice squad through the
- 17:07Speaker 2: Super Bowl, got a ring whole bit, and now he's
- 17:10Speaker 2: back in training camp and he is a star of
- 17:12Speaker 2: this training camp. Every single day he's making plays, catches,
- 17:16Speaker 2: beaten starting corners. He's been great.
- 17:19Speaker 3: Well how about you? How about you?
- 17:21Speaker 4: Greg getting the first well not the first, but you
- 17:25Speaker 4: got an interview with him before, well probably we.
- 17:29Speaker 2: Got Yeah, it was funny. We got the story Saturday night.
- 17:32Speaker 2: All the writers are asking him in the press conference
- 17:34Speaker 2: after the game, after he scored the only touchdown of
- 17:36Speaker 2: the game, on a great catch. By the way, he
- 17:38Speaker 2: wasn't even couldn't even see the pass company turned his
- 17:40Speaker 2: head and boom the balls right on him Fromdrew Locke,
- 17:43Speaker 2: and they were all asking him questions about him teaching,
- 17:46Speaker 2: and somebody was Vitamurrera, a friend of ours, turned to
- 17:50Speaker 2: me and said, how come you're not asking that question.
- 17:51Speaker 2: I said, man, I've written the story like three times
- 17:53Speaker 2: and erited on kJ R already know this story. But
- 17:58Speaker 2: Montoy Foster definitely helping him. Tyree Knight with ten tackles
- 18:02Speaker 2: as well as playing middle linebacker, which he didn't play
- 18:04Speaker 2: the first two Seahawks seasons. He was the green dot
- 18:07Speaker 2: signal caller taking Odden Dirty's play calls. They weren't Mike
- 18:11Speaker 2: McDonald's play calls the other night. Tyree Knight really helped himself,
- 18:15Speaker 2: and George Hallane helped himself by just being there. Jedarian Price,
- 18:19Speaker 2: the rookie first round picked the lead running back, presuming
- 18:21Speaker 2: lead running back for the opener, did do full go
- 18:24Speaker 2: full pad's pre game, but then did not play because
- 18:27Speaker 2: he hasn't played in five full practices because of the
- 18:31Speaker 2: upper legs. So so Halani did play twelve carries forty
- 18:34Speaker 2: two yards. Once again, Hallanie's dependable. That's why he's been
- 18:38Speaker 2: here for three years. He helped himself, but the reserve
- 18:41Speaker 2: offensive lineman did not. And also something else that Mike
- 18:45Speaker 2: McDonald didn't like. It was the operation, the actual operation
- 18:49Speaker 2: of his offense and defense. You'll hear what he meant
- 18:52Speaker 2: by that. Mike McDonald's up next. We'll talk about the Mariners.
- 18:55Speaker 2: We'll talk about Jerry Depoto throwing cold Emerson under the bus.
- 18:59Speaker 2: And at eleven you're here from Jalen millerroll. All that's
- 19:01Speaker 2: coming up from Seahawks Headquarters on ninety three point three
- 19:04Speaker 2: kJ RFM. Hi, Welcome Ack Greag Belt Show with Jessamin
- 19:36Speaker 2: McIntyre is on every day ten am to noon on
- 19:39Speaker 2: ninety three point three kJ r f M. Right before
- 19:41Speaker 2: Ian Fernest joins us from twelve until three. Dave SOFTI
- 19:45Speaker 2: Maler and I believe Tick fame for him today three
- 19:48Speaker 2: until seven. All that coming up on ninety three point
- 19:50Speaker 2: three kJ RFM. I'm at Seahawks headquarters again because that's
- 19:53Speaker 2: where they're practicing this afternoon. They have three practices this
- 19:56Speaker 2: week here. Then on Thursdays, travel day to Tennessee for
- 20:01Speaker 2: a Friday joint practice that's gonna end about the time
- 20:05Speaker 2: our show comes on the air ten am, Seattle time
- 20:08Speaker 2: on Friday, and one joint practice instead of two like
- 20:12Speaker 2: they were two in Nashville two years ago. Then they
- 20:15Speaker 2: get a pregame day on Saturday and a Sunday night
- 20:18Speaker 2: exhibition game. Is gonna be a national TV broadcast on
- 20:21Speaker 2: Fox Seahawks and Titans in the second preseason game we're expecting.
- 20:25Speaker 2: I'm expecting all the starters to do the joint practice
- 20:28Speaker 2: against the Titans ones on Friday. The only most extensive
- 20:33Speaker 2: preseason time for the starters come in these joint practices
- 20:36Speaker 2: so far in the two years under Mike McDonald. Speaking
- 20:39Speaker 2: of the coach, he was not happy with a lot
- 20:44Speaker 2: of the nuances and the operation. In his words of
- 20:47Speaker 2: the seventeen to seven loss to the Cowboys in the
- 20:50Speaker 2: preseason open Saturday Night, forget the result. He wasn't talking
- 20:53Speaker 2: about the result, he was talking about the process. This
- 20:55Speaker 2: is Mike McDonald from Saturday night postgame.
- 20:58Speaker 8: Okay, h First of all, I want to shout out
- 21:01Speaker 8: the twelves. I mean, that's most people have ever seen
- 21:04Speaker 8: it a preseason game, so we we owe them a
- 21:07Speaker 8: better performance, to say the least.
- 21:10Speaker 6: But I just told I told the.
- 21:12Speaker 8: Team it's we're gonna learn a lot from this game,
- 21:15Speaker 8: whether you know, take the result out of it. Obviously,
- 21:17Speaker 8: it's disappointed to lose the game anytime you line up
- 21:20Speaker 8: and anything. Competitively, we're trying to win. But right now
- 21:23Speaker 8: our process needs to improve. That's really the biggest takeaway
- 21:26Speaker 8: is on really in both phases on offensive defense, our
- 21:31Speaker 8: operation is not up to par, and how we're finishing
- 21:33Speaker 8: plays is not up to par.
- 21:35Speaker 6: So that'll be a focus moving forward. But it's it's
- 21:37Speaker 6: good to know, you know, God.
- 21:38Speaker 8: We know now and the things we need to be
- 21:39Speaker 8: able to do to take our our team the next level.
- 21:43Speaker 6: And then we have a great opportunity to go to
- 21:47Speaker 6: figure it out.
- 21:47Speaker 8: You know, we got a big week coming up, a
- 21:50Speaker 8: couple couple of great practices opportunities, and then and then
- 21:54Speaker 8: off the Tennessee we go have a great practice and
- 21:57Speaker 8: and play another great game and take it, you know,
- 22:00Speaker 8: and move forward.
- 22:00Speaker 6: So that's where we're at.
- 22:03Speaker 2: You see, the operation wasn't out of your standard.
- 22:05Speaker 8: What do you mean, just all all the things, how
- 22:09Speaker 8: you know, how we get calls in, how we take
- 22:10Speaker 8: the line, how he motion, how we shift, how we
- 22:13Speaker 8: get lined up on defense, how we communicate. All those
- 22:17Speaker 8: things need to take a very big jump, very quickly.
- 22:21Speaker 6: So but it's good to know. Now we know it,
- 22:24Speaker 6: So let's go get it.
- 22:25Speaker 9: Let's just ask you us on a contract. I mean,
- 22:27Speaker 9: obviously we all know he's a great player. For what
- 22:30Speaker 9: why is he so important to really have done?
- 22:32Speaker 6: And what you wanted you in the future. Well, I mean, Spoon,
- 22:39Speaker 6: Spoon is all the things.
- 22:40Speaker 8: He's a he's a great person, he's a great football player,
- 22:44Speaker 8: he's a great teammate, he's a great leader.
- 22:47Speaker 6: Those are the guys we want to be here. It's
- 22:49Speaker 6: it's kind of similar to Jacks.
- 22:50Speaker 8: It's like these are these are foundational people to to
- 22:52Speaker 8: our to our to our team, and I'm I'm extremely
- 22:57Speaker 8: excited to get that foundation, you know, where we know
- 23:00Speaker 8: Foon's going to be here for the long haul and
- 23:02Speaker 8: and and we're also excited for the opportunity to reward him.
- 23:05Speaker 8: You know that this is a contract that we feel
- 23:08Speaker 8: like he's earned and we should celebrate it as well.
- 23:09Speaker 8: But it's also really exciting to know that we've we
- 23:12Speaker 8: have foundational players that are going to be part of
- 23:14Speaker 8: our team.
- 23:14Speaker 6: Here for a long time.
- 23:15Speaker 10: He was one of the guys when you said, you know,
- 23:17Speaker 10: the first phase of OTA, some of the vendor as
- 23:19Speaker 10: didn't need to be there.
- 23:20Speaker 6: He's their day one.
- 23:21Speaker 3: Yeah he's out a yeah, well he's so waiting to
- 23:24Speaker 3: get a deal that Like, was that how you got him?
- 23:26Speaker 6: Well, that's that man paints a great picture.
- 23:28Speaker 8: John like he he's just in Pactice and he loves
- 23:33Speaker 8: the game. Well, you know we were talking today, he's
- 23:34Speaker 8: just you know, people would hopefully doesn't mind me sharing this,
- 23:37Speaker 8: but people would talk to him about, you know, ask
- 23:40Speaker 8: him why he does, why he's doing what he's doing.
- 23:42Speaker 8: He's like, yeah, I love I love the game of football,
- 23:44Speaker 8: and there's a season it ready for.
- 23:46Speaker 4: You know.
- 23:46Speaker 8: He kind of keeps the main thing, the main thing,
- 23:48Speaker 8: without getting distracted by all the extra stuff. He also
- 23:53Speaker 8: probably feels, you know, he's also a great teammate. You know,
- 23:55Speaker 8: he just wants to be there for the guys and
- 23:57Speaker 8: and how our team plays is important to him, which
- 24:00Speaker 8: which is really cool.
- 24:02Speaker 9: He closes out the NFC Champions Game of those two
- 24:05Speaker 9: pass broad gaps and then the slot leggs, we're just
- 24:06Speaker 9: in sane in the Super Bowl. Yeah, how like certain
- 24:09Speaker 9: players just have a knack for coming up to the
- 24:11Speaker 9: biggest moments. What is it about can Lasko do that?
- 24:15Speaker 4: Well?
- 24:15Speaker 8: I think it's his relentless attitude about like the details.
- 24:20Speaker 6: It doesn't matter the situation.
- 24:21Speaker 8: He's playing it at you know, at top speed, top intent.
- 24:27Speaker 8: That's why we want our football team to operate, you know.
- 24:29Speaker 8: I mean there are plays in earlier in the game,
- 24:32Speaker 8: in the NFC game that Spoon probably could have played better,
- 24:35Speaker 8: but like the mentality to just attack the next play
- 24:38Speaker 8: all the time is is probably what makes it so special.
- 24:42Speaker 8: And then in both those plays, you know, there are
- 24:44Speaker 8: both are extended plays where you know, I think we're
- 24:46Speaker 8: in man coverage on both of them.
- 24:47Speaker 6: To be able to you know, to guard your man
- 24:49Speaker 6: for that amount of time relentlessly is is uh. I mean,
- 24:54Speaker 6: it's legendary type stuff.
- 24:55Speaker 8: And then you know, in terms of how he plays
- 24:58Speaker 8: a nickel position on early downs and the things he
- 24:59Speaker 8: didn't super Bowl or are some of the some of
- 25:02Speaker 8: the things that make them special as well.
- 25:03Speaker 11: I think you had a comment on the radio after
- 25:06Speaker 11: the Super Bowl about like the impact he had on
- 25:08Speaker 11: the Super Bowl as a flitzer, Like does that make
- 25:11Speaker 11: you feel like maybe you should use it more in
- 25:14Speaker 11: that role.
- 25:15Speaker 8: Yes, yes, yeah, it's it's uh, he's a he's a
- 25:20Speaker 8: great corner.
- 25:20Speaker 6: He's a great nickel.
- 25:21Speaker 8: And when when Nick's available, Nick's also a great nickel.
- 25:25Speaker 8: And so you know, it's it's a great it's a
- 25:28Speaker 8: great problem to have as a as a coach that
- 25:30Speaker 8: you know, how do you deploy your people to have success?
- 25:33Speaker 8: But Spoon is very I mean, all all those instincts
- 25:37Speaker 8: about timing and you know, even beating guards, you know,
- 25:41Speaker 8: setting them up and beating backs and one on one
- 25:43Speaker 8: pastoral situations is uh, you know, it's not it's not
- 25:47Speaker 8: common for those for that skill set.
- 25:49Speaker 12: Look like you joked about in the air to celebrate after.
- 25:52Speaker 8: The yeah, yeah, we were trying to get a penalty.
- 25:56Speaker 8: We're trying to get a celebration penalty back. I was
- 25:58Speaker 8: all disappointed. You know, we could be we could bring
- 26:01Speaker 8: some more some energy to the celebrations. Ernest Jones, ou
- 26:05Speaker 8: celeb A lot of guys weren't playing, seeming very into
- 26:08Speaker 8: the game. Those guys, Yeah, I was excited, you know,
- 26:11Speaker 8: and and the guys playing like, you know, we gotta
- 26:14Speaker 8: we have to play with more urgency. Take take the
- 26:19Speaker 8: from the when the ball was snapped to like when
- 26:21Speaker 8: the ball is over, the play is over.
- 26:23Speaker 6: But like how we.
- 26:23Speaker 8: Finished the play to op the whole operation needs to
- 26:27Speaker 8: improve and the players are responsible for that as well.
- 26:29Speaker 6: It's not this isn't like a comment on our coaches ring.
- 26:32Speaker 8: It's it's the whole team and so and to do
- 26:35Speaker 8: that that provides energy. That's how you stack plays, you know,
- 26:37Speaker 8: That's how you kind of get out of a rut
- 26:40Speaker 8: is by you know, falling back on those on those
- 26:42Speaker 8: like core fundamentals, those core principles of how we're going
- 26:44Speaker 8: to operate as a football team.
- 26:45Speaker 6: So that didn't happen to it. That's probably the most
- 26:47Speaker 6: disappointing thing.
- 26:48Speaker 11: Would you really want the penalty?
- 26:51Speaker 8: Uh kind of yeah. I mean I just wanted the guys.
- 26:55Speaker 8: Wanted the guys to feel the energy and guy like
- 26:57Speaker 8: we did last year, like this is I think we
- 26:59Speaker 8: got interceptions something and I think everybody's in uniform that
- 27:02Speaker 8: maybe that I don't know, that's probably the rules better.
- 27:05Speaker 12: Like with Terry, she said early in camp that you know,
- 27:10Speaker 12: you'd like to find.
- 27:11Speaker 2: A way to get him involved a little bit. Yeah,
- 27:12Speaker 2: it seems like he had one of those games and shows.
- 27:15Speaker 8: Yeah, we're a little banged up inside backer right now.
- 27:17Speaker 8: So teen Ie. Uh played probably more than we bargained for,
- 27:21Speaker 8: but I played probably He's the best player on the
- 27:25Speaker 8: field on defense today for sure.
- 27:26Speaker 6: So that was that was cool to see what the.
- 27:29Speaker 12: Initial thought on how the two quarterbacks played.
- 27:34Speaker 8: Good enough to put up seven points. Yeah, gotta put
- 27:37Speaker 8: up more points, so we need to operate better. Uh,
- 27:39Speaker 8: there's some good things. There's gonn there's gonna be a
- 27:41Speaker 8: lot of there's gonna be like it's so great to
- 27:43Speaker 8: have tape against another team now, like in a real
- 27:47Speaker 8: in a different type of setting where the pass rush
- 27:49Speaker 8: is live. You know, you're up against the play clock,
- 27:54Speaker 8: you know, there's there's penalty, all these different things that
- 27:55Speaker 8: you'd have to be able to play out. There are
- 27:58Speaker 8: great learning experiences for everybody, quarterbacks included.
- 28:00Speaker 12: Do you want to talk to us a couple of
- 28:02Speaker 12: days about being more decisive?
- 28:03Speaker 2: Is his key?
- 28:04Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 28:04Speaker 12: How do you think he wants to know? You seem
- 28:06Speaker 12: to hold onto.
- 28:06Speaker 8: The do there were thoughts, you know, I got we
- 28:08Speaker 8: got to see if you know what the things that
- 28:10Speaker 8: he that he was seeing. But I think the whole
- 28:13Speaker 8: thing just needs to just whole thing. Just let's go
- 28:16Speaker 8: take another step, you know, you know, was it there.
- 28:19Speaker 8: Let's let's encourage him to go rip it. I think
- 28:21Speaker 8: that I think some great things that Jalen did was
- 28:23Speaker 8: extend plays with his legs, something that has been a
- 28:27Speaker 8: point emphasis with him that he's just that he's really uh,
- 28:29Speaker 8: it's great to see him do that today.
- 28:31Speaker 6: That really helped us.
- 28:32Speaker 12: Tory Foster's the guys had a strong camp.
- 28:33Speaker 2: Was good to see when a player can do that
- 28:35Speaker 2: and carry it in. Yeah.
- 28:36Speaker 8: Yeah, for sure, you're happy for Montory. All the things
- 28:40Speaker 8: he felt in camp he felt felt today during the game.
- 28:43Speaker 11: We haven't seen Jalen take off and run a whole
- 28:45Speaker 11: lot like this summer at practices and it sounds like
- 28:47Speaker 11: that's something.
- 28:48Speaker 12: Are you saying that's something you wanted to encourage him.
- 28:50Speaker 8: To do or yeah, and like it's say, you know,
- 28:52Speaker 8: there's the play, don't have to end if you're if
- 28:55Speaker 8: there's nobody to throw in with your progressions, like you're
- 28:57Speaker 8: allowed to extend the play, you know, to to you
- 29:00Speaker 8: on how long the play goes.
- 29:02Speaker 12: You had Adam Derry doing the play calling night.
- 29:05Speaker 6: Yeah, ad called the game, did a good job.
- 29:09Speaker 12: What did that afford you what did you see differently
- 29:12Speaker 12: or what did you have to glean from a.
- 29:15Speaker 8: You know, I think it was best for us for
- 29:20Speaker 8: right now, for him to for him to call it.
- 29:21Speaker 8: It's great experience for a d uh. He's called the
- 29:24Speaker 8: majority of camp up to this point. He's done a
- 29:28Speaker 8: phenomenal job throughout camp. He really has. He's he's called.
- 29:31Speaker 8: We've had a ton of call periods. He's on the details,
- 29:36Speaker 8: he's thinking thinking, just do a lot of great stuff, honestly, so,
- 29:41Speaker 8: but at some point, I got I gotta get ready
- 29:42Speaker 8: to call game too.
- 29:43Speaker 6: So I think I'll think I'll probably call next.
- 29:44Speaker 12: Week, clerk. Do you get a chance with your call
- 29:47Speaker 12: place to see him render the right pick?
- 29:49Speaker 6: Did some good things, did some good things.
- 29:51Speaker 8: Some things is off the top of my head that
- 29:52Speaker 8: I know that we want to talk about and improve.
- 29:54Speaker 8: But again, he's a great example of this is your
- 29:58Speaker 8: first experience playing a game, you know, in a loud
- 30:01Speaker 8: environment where we have to communicate, you know, the communications
- 30:03Speaker 8: to improve on. David, I think that's a wake up
- 30:05Speaker 8: call to our guys of you know, examples of So
- 30:08Speaker 8: shout out to the twelve for being loud and showing our.
- 30:11Speaker 6: Guys that we got to be able to communicate better.
- 30:12Speaker 8: But great, great first experience for him and he's gonna
- 30:16Speaker 8: learn from it.
- 30:21Speaker 2: That was Mike McDonald from Saturday night at Newmenfield, right
- 30:24Speaker 2: after the Seahawks pretty much ugly seventeen seven lost to
- 30:28Speaker 2: the Cowboys. Was theres all seahawksers are none of the
- 30:31Speaker 2: twenty two starters played. You heard him say what he
- 30:34Speaker 2: was asking how the two quarterbacks Drew Locke Jalen Milroe played.
- 30:37Speaker 2: He said, good enough to put up seven points. That
- 30:40Speaker 2: means enough. Wow. He didn't like the operation of that.
- 30:44Speaker 2: It was also interesting for him to hear him say, yeah,
- 30:47Speaker 2: I need to blitz Devin Witherspoon more. We've talked about
- 30:49Speaker 2: that for a couple of years now. I've written about
- 30:51Speaker 2: that that the blitz rate numbers for Witherspoon have gone
- 30:54Speaker 2: down as his career has gone on, and McDonald actually
- 30:57Speaker 2: blitz him less last year than he had four And
- 31:01Speaker 2: when he did blitz him, he did it in the
- 31:02Speaker 2: Super Bowl after not doing it much during the season,
- 31:04Speaker 2: and the Patriots looked ill prepared and overwhelmed by it.
- 31:08Speaker 2: And McDonald's intimating that maybe he'll blitz Devin Witherspoon a
- 31:12Speaker 2: little war this season coming up, we'll see. And when
- 31:15Speaker 2: I was mentioning the players who did not help themselves
- 31:18Speaker 2: the other night, one of them was Schamar John Charles.
- 31:22Speaker 2: He's the veteran quarterback. He played, he's played. This is
- 31:25Speaker 2: going on the sixth NFL season. He hasn't played an
- 31:27Speaker 2: NFL game, John Charles since the end of the twenty
- 31:31Speaker 2: twenty four season he was with the New Orleans Saints.
- 31:34Speaker 2: Well today, I mean you saw the touchdown he give
- 31:37Speaker 2: up by the way I mean, I mean Sam Howe.
- 31:39Speaker 4: I think a lot of people watched it. I think
- 31:42Speaker 4: it had really good viewership.
- 31:44Speaker 2: Sam Howe, he couldn't hit Lake Washington from the Seahawks
- 31:48Speaker 2: practice field when he was here for those two training camps.
- 31:50Speaker 2: After they traded for him. They finally got I don't
- 31:53Speaker 2: know how they traded him, but they did trade him.
- 31:55Speaker 2: But Sam how threw a shot put him a pack.
- 31:58Speaker 2: I mean, he just chucked it straight up in the air.
- 32:00Speaker 2: I think John Charles could have fair caught that thing
- 32:02Speaker 2: in the end zone. Instead, he did not react to
- 32:05Speaker 2: the ball being short of the receiver, and the rookie
- 32:08Speaker 2: receiver for Dallas just stood there caught the ball whiles.
- 32:11Speaker 2: John Charles was going out of the back of the
- 32:13Speaker 2: end zone. He met it. He gave up a couple
- 32:16Speaker 2: of catches over the middle for first downs. Not a
- 32:19Speaker 2: good night for Samarrow. Jean Charles. Well, this morning the
- 32:22Speaker 2: Seaharks put him on injured reserve. He's out for the season.
- 32:26Speaker 2: And you say, well, have some grace. The guy was hurt. Yeah,
- 32:29Speaker 2: maybe so, But I will tell you that the injured
- 32:32Speaker 2: reserve list is often used to stash guys that they
- 32:34Speaker 2: want to have as.
- 32:36Speaker 4: Why are you giving away States secrets?
- 32:40Speaker 2: I've covered the NFL for twenty five years. I've covered
- 32:44Speaker 2: the NFL for twenty five years. If they like a
- 32:46Speaker 2: guy but they'll think they've a.
- 32:47Speaker 3: Playing, just say you have a hunch.
- 32:49Speaker 4: Geeze, you're just telling everyone everybody you know that everyone's listening.
- 32:55Speaker 2: That could be.
- 32:56Speaker 3: Nationally right now, that could be.
- 32:58Speaker 4: And so all the other coaches, all thirty one of them,
- 33:01Speaker 4: are listening to you right now.
- 33:03Speaker 2: Kyle Shanahan's listening to KJR before the Seahawks practice and
- 33:08Speaker 2: forty nine erski practice.
- 33:09Speaker 4: Yes, I helped him with his backpack.
- 33:14Speaker 2: The other roster moves today. Beside ir for John Charles,
- 33:18Speaker 2: the team waved their two rookie running backs that they'd
- 33:21Speaker 2: signed in the last ten days or so, t J.
- 33:23Speaker 2: Harden and Justin Jones, both of whom played on Saturday night.
- 33:26Speaker 2: They both got calls near the goal line and both
- 33:28Speaker 2: of them didn't do anything. They ran straight into the line.
- 33:31Speaker 2: There was no outside zone reading of cuts or anything.
- 33:34Speaker 2: I mean, they just ran straight into a massive people
- 33:36Speaker 2: and didn't go anywhere. Well. T J. Harden and Justin
- 33:39Speaker 2: Jones were released. They were waved this morning. The Seahawks
- 33:43Speaker 2: signed back linebacker Power Eccles. He was a former Denver
- 33:46Speaker 2: Bronco they had released last week in camp, and they
- 33:49Speaker 2: signed back running where they signed running back Anthony Hankerson
- 33:52Speaker 2: wide receiver Julian Hicks are now Seahawks from the ninety
- 33:55Speaker 2: man roster back full again three out three come in.
- 33:59Speaker 2: So Hankerson is a new running back as t J.
- 34:02Speaker 2: Harden and Justin Jones.
- 34:03Speaker 3: But what's the headline for you, Greg?
- 34:05Speaker 2: There that a veteran John Charles put on injury reserve
- 34:09Speaker 2: out for the year, which means that a guy like
- 34:12Speaker 2: Noah Igmanoghany his eighth year at cornerback, is making some grounds.
- 34:16Speaker 2: And they are also clear in the decks for the
- 34:17Speaker 2: eventual arrival of Taran Arnold, a cornerback well, who is
- 34:21Speaker 2: not yet on the roster.
- 34:22Speaker 4: I think for us who are not as entrenched as
- 34:26Speaker 4: you are, I want to hear what the things that
- 34:29Speaker 4: stand out to you are.
- 34:31Speaker 3: So that's why I asked.
- 34:33Speaker 2: Well Jalen Milroe on. I mean, we can talk about
- 34:37Speaker 2: it later when we do the Millroe segment. But he
- 34:39Speaker 2: was not decisive enough. He was holding onto the ball.
- 34:42Speaker 2: He bailed it on some clean pockets multiple times. I
- 34:46Speaker 2: mean just took off running when he had pockets to throw,
- 34:49Speaker 2: and he just didn't throw. There was a time that
- 34:51Speaker 2: there was a defensive penalty in the secondary. It was
- 34:54Speaker 2: early in the play, a defensive holding. The flag goes
- 34:56Speaker 2: down obvious right at the numbers in the field, to
- 34:59Speaker 2: the same side that Milroe was rolling to. Coaches would
- 35:02Speaker 2: love to see a quarterback just chuck it down the
- 35:04Speaker 2: field into the coverage hoping for a deep completion. And
- 35:07Speaker 2: even if it's intercepted, right, you got a free play.
- 35:11Speaker 2: We see it all the time when there's an early penalty,
- 35:13Speaker 2: it's a free play, right, just throw it down there. Well,
- 35:16Speaker 2: Milroe just ran out of bounds, didn't show the awareness
- 35:19Speaker 2: of oh, I got a free play here, I'm just
- 35:21Speaker 2: going to chuck it into its Okay, okay, Yeah, he
- 35:25Speaker 2: just kept running and ran out of bounds, and I
- 35:27Speaker 2: thought to myself, well, that's a minus. The coaches in
- 35:29Speaker 2: the film are going to say, wait a minute. You
- 35:31Speaker 2: have to have awareness to see it's the side you're
- 35:33Speaker 2: rolling to to the receiver you're looking at that just
- 35:35Speaker 2: got held. Then you see the flag go down. Well,
- 35:38Speaker 2: he either didn't see it or wasn't aware that. Hey,
- 35:40Speaker 2: I just, especially in a preseason game where you're only
- 35:43Speaker 2: games you're gonna play this season, shut the ball down
- 35:45Speaker 2: the field trying to make a play.
- 35:46Speaker 3: That's the learning part of it, too, right, Yes.
- 35:49Speaker 2: It is, and he hasn't had much experience. That was
- 35:52Speaker 2: the first game he's threw passes in since the preseason
- 35:55Speaker 2: finale of twenty twenty five at Loominfield when Mike McDonald
- 35:58Speaker 2: gave him the whole game over that. The other thing
- 36:00Speaker 2: that was different that may have worked against Milroe two things. One,
- 36:04Speaker 2: he had an offensive play caller who'd never done it
- 36:06Speaker 2: before doing it for the first time on Saturday night,
- 36:08Speaker 2: Brian Flurry. And the other one is they were going
- 36:12Speaker 2: in and out like basketball players or hockey players online
- 36:15Speaker 2: changes the quarterbacks once they left, came back in through
- 36:18Speaker 2: Lock started left in the second quarter, came back in
- 36:21Speaker 2: the third. Milroe came in the second quarter, came back
- 36:24Speaker 2: in the fourth. It was different. It wasn't bad, and
- 36:26Speaker 2: that they had more time playing time than normal when
- 36:28Speaker 2: they get taken out, but it was different. And as
- 36:31Speaker 2: far as the operation and the processing goes, and the
- 36:35Speaker 2: operation between plays, McDonald didn't say it, but he had
- 36:38Speaker 2: Brian Flurry on the sideline doing it for the first
- 36:40Speaker 2: time in his life point calling plays in a game.
- 36:43Speaker 2: And he had a semi new play caller on defense
- 36:46Speaker 2: and add and Dirty the defensive coordinator who does not
- 36:49Speaker 2: call the plays during the regular season. Now Dirty does
- 36:51Speaker 2: call some plays and he did a little bit of
- 36:54Speaker 2: play calling in the preseason. But that's Mike McDonald's bally
- 36:57Speaker 2: Wick And he was at the opposite side of Dirt,
- 37:00Speaker 2: Dirty way completely opposite. And I was watching them through
- 37:03Speaker 2: the binoculars and he was just watching. He wasn't on
- 37:05Speaker 2: the headset, he wasn't looking at his play card. That
- 37:09Speaker 2: was what Dirty was doing. So that was different too.
- 37:12Speaker 2: So the processing, yeah, it was didn't go as well,
- 37:14Speaker 2: but it also wasn't like the processing is going to
- 37:16Speaker 2: be during the regular season. Four nine, four to five one.
- 37:19Speaker 2: I asked him that to come a dotch text line
- 37:20Speaker 2: what you thought of the first preseason and anything that
- 37:23Speaker 2: concerned you, anything that stood out as a positive to you,
- 37:25Speaker 2: that you liked that you saw from the Seahawks. We'll
- 37:28Speaker 2: read those back at eleven thirty. Up next to Mariners
- 37:32Speaker 2: two out of three in Houston over the weekend. They
- 37:34Speaker 2: won them two out of three. They should have won
- 37:36Speaker 2: all three. Well, they regret not win it all three,
- 37:40Speaker 2: and the president of Baseball Operations, Jerry Depoto telling saying
- 37:44Speaker 2: about a twenty year old rookie short Stuff hitting one
- 37:46Speaker 2: ninety that he should have told him that he was hurt.
- 37:49Speaker 2: That's up next to ninety three point three kjr f them.
- 38:16Speaker 13: This down the line right field base Sid Brock running
- 38:21Speaker 13: Weston Wilson scores to tie the game, and Brock, ronning
- 38:26Speaker 13: in the Mariners' biggest game of the season, comes up
- 38:30Speaker 13: with its first major league hit to tie the game
- 38:33Speaker 13: in the eighth.
- 38:34Speaker 10: Dy Oh, what a great at back by rock first
- 38:38Speaker 10: baseid first big league ARBI. Unfortunately, it bounces out whase
- 38:43Speaker 10: go ahead run would have ended up scoring.
- 38:47Speaker 2: Yeah, that was that was as bad I was brock
- 38:51Speaker 2: rodding in his first giganty Kid as a Mariner in
- 38:54Speaker 2: his major league debut on Friday night in Houston. Brought
- 38:57Speaker 2: the Mariners all the way back from five to two,
- 39:00Speaker 2: who tied five to five. And as you heard Dave
- 39:03Speaker 2: Valley on Marin's TV say with Aaron Goldsmith, there had
- 39:05Speaker 2: that ball not hopped a short fence on the side
- 39:08Speaker 2: into the corner there on the foule side of rightfield corner,
- 39:11Speaker 2: they would have scored the go ahead run. There wouldn't
- 39:14Speaker 2: have been a tenth inning for Munos to blow and
- 39:17Speaker 2: they would have possibly swept the trash cans out of
- 39:19Speaker 2: Houston this past weekend and only be two back.
- 39:22Speaker 3: You would have could situation.
- 39:25Speaker 2: Yes, yes, that was just bad luck. I mean really
- 39:27Speaker 2: bad bad luck. We saw that short watch him with
- 39:30Speaker 2: my son and I was like, uh, that sucked now
- 39:34Speaker 2: that they can't take the lead because of that. But anyway,
- 39:38Speaker 2: Rodden went three for ten over the weekend. He had
- 39:41Speaker 2: three his first three major league Garby I was a
- 39:43Speaker 2: twenty six year old. He had about thirty five forty
- 39:45Speaker 2: people there from Oklahoma, his home area's family was there.
- 39:49Speaker 2: They kept showing on the marriage TV broadcast. If he
- 39:51Speaker 2: didn't see it, but it was. It was a cool
- 39:54Speaker 2: deal for him. And then he ended up having an
- 39:56Speaker 2: ops some nine sixty three in the three games. I
- 40:00Speaker 2: don't have anybody who's been doing that. It's only three games.
- 40:02Speaker 3: I mean, it wasn't a bad call up.
- 40:05Speaker 2: No in an instant results against some offense at the
- 40:09Speaker 2: shortstop position, which they were not getting from cold Emerson,
- 40:14Speaker 2: the rookie shortstop one ninety batting average. It looked like
- 40:19Speaker 2: originally he was sent down before that Friday game to
- 40:23Speaker 2: Triple A Tacoma, and then as they were talking to
- 40:26Speaker 2: him the Mariners brass manager Dan Wilson and president Jerry
- 40:31Speaker 2: Depoto in Houston, cold Emerson told him that he Emerson
- 40:36Speaker 2: had problems and had a wrist injury that continues to
- 40:40Speaker 2: bother him throughout the season and that he wanted to
- 40:43Speaker 2: get checked up on. Jerry to Poto told the media
- 40:47Speaker 2: before the game owns Friday quote, I wish he would
- 40:50Speaker 2: have been a little more upfront. If it was bothering
- 40:53Speaker 2: him that much, he should have said something. He was
- 40:56Speaker 2: as pro as you could be when We sat with
- 40:58Speaker 2: him meaning about the demotion, and he could not have
- 41:00Speaker 2: been more understanding. I think he understood where he was
- 41:03Speaker 2: and he took a breath and then he said, I
- 41:05Speaker 2: would really like to have an update to look at
- 41:06Speaker 2: my wrist. It's been a thing. So we're taking away thing. Yeah,
- 41:10Speaker 2: I suspect we will find it. That is a thing. Well,
- 41:13Speaker 2: here's the thing. Thing. The Mariners knew back in March
- 41:16Speaker 2: that cold Emerson had a rist injury because that's when
- 41:18Speaker 2: it happened in spring training, so much so they gave
- 41:20Speaker 2: him a courtizone shot in April when he was a Tacoma,
- 41:25Speaker 2: So they knew this thing was a thing back in
- 41:28Speaker 2: March and April, and then as it was batting one ninety,
- 41:32Speaker 2: he didn't say anything because he saw guys like Randy
- 41:35Speaker 2: or Rose Arena and Cal Rawley and Josh Naylor and
- 41:39Speaker 2: JP Crawford play injured and Brendan Donovan early in the
- 41:43Speaker 2: season before he went on a six extended stint on
- 41:46Speaker 2: the injured list. So here's a twenty year old kid
- 41:49Speaker 2: up for the first time playing baseball at the major
- 41:52Speaker 2: league level, seeing veterans leaders in the clubhouse playing injured.
- 41:58Speaker 2: So of course he didn't say anything. That's not on him?
- 42:04Speaker 4: Yeah, that why didn't he say something thing that that
- 42:07Speaker 4: one kind of come?
- 42:09Speaker 3: Yeah, that one sucks.
- 42:11Speaker 2: That I'm telling you. We have based it and rightly
- 42:15Speaker 2: so Jerry Depoto for the fifty four percent comment, and
- 42:18Speaker 2: fans should feel lucky. But that was for fans, right.
- 42:21Speaker 2: But in terms of leadership inside the organization and in the.
- 42:24Speaker 3: Color you throw, you throw your guy under.
- 42:29Speaker 4: That you've committed, yes, exactly, Yes, that that that sucks.
- 42:36Speaker 3: It just sucks. And also you know, for the kid,
- 42:40Speaker 3: he's a kid.
- 42:42Speaker 4: You have twenty three year old children, they're still children.
- 42:46Speaker 4: So for a twenty year old to have to wear
- 42:49Speaker 4: it that it's been so experienced in public speaking for
- 42:58Speaker 4: so long, and to to kind of throw it on him,
- 43:03Speaker 4: that doesn't rub me the right way.
- 43:05Speaker 2: He should have said something, says the president of Baseball Operations,
- 43:09Speaker 2: who had put in his short stuff into in.
- 43:13Speaker 4: April, who I have no problems with as a human.
- 43:19Speaker 3: That's bad. That's bad.
- 43:21Speaker 2: Hurts my head. Yeah, and he.
- 43:25Speaker 3: Knows what he's saying when he's saying it too.
- 43:27Speaker 2: Of course he does.
- 43:28Speaker 3: Yeah, that's a rough one.
- 43:32Speaker 2: And I'm next, Yeah, let's go next. That just starts
- 43:36Speaker 2: my head. I couldn't believe it.
- 43:38Speaker 3: All right, let's get rid of your headache.
- 43:41Speaker 2: I couldn't believe it. I'm next Jalen Milroe, the second
- 43:45Speaker 2: year quarterback, the third round pick from Alabama. He said
- 43:48Speaker 2: he had to be more decisive. He was not that
- 43:50Speaker 2: Saturday night you'll hear from Jalon Miller. We'll talk about him,
- 43:53Speaker 2: We'll talk about Drew Locke's performance. Sam Donald didn't play. Yes,
- 43:57Speaker 2: Sam Donald will play in the opener September against New England.
- 44:01Speaker 2: Jalon Milroe up next on ninety three point three KJRFM.
- 44:08Speaker 1: Now from the Star Rentals Sports Test your ninety three
- 44:11Speaker 1: point three KJRFM sports headlines.
- 44:15Speaker 2: Hi, welcome back to the Seawks head courager. Here from
- 44:17Speaker 2: Jalon Milroe. Right after headlines brought to you by Frostburg
- 44:19Speaker 2: Corps like Choose Chill. Seahawks nineteenth practice preseason is today.
- 44:23Speaker 2: Three practices here and rentin this week joint practice Friday
- 44:26Speaker 2: in Nashville. I'll be there broadcasting live on KJR and
- 44:29Speaker 2: then you will thank you. And then Sunday, in a
- 44:33Speaker 2: second preseason game against the Titans in Nashville, we'll see
- 44:36Speaker 2: if Tara and Arnold is here today for practice. Free
- 44:38Speaker 2: agent cornerback first round pick two years ago the Detroit
- 44:41Speaker 2: cut after eight family charges against him in Florida, has
- 44:43Speaker 2: yet to officially sign. We'll see if he's a practices
- 44:47Speaker 2: this week before they leave for Tennessee. Devin Witherspoon agreed
- 44:49Speaker 2: over the weekend, of course, to his contract thirty three
- 44:51Speaker 2: million per year, one hundred and one million guaranteed. The
- 44:54Speaker 2: twenty five year old three time Pro Bowl corner is
- 44:56Speaker 2: now under Seaork contract to twenty thirty one. The twenty
- 45:00Speaker 2: two starters on offensive defense played in the seventeen to
- 45:02Speaker 2: seven preseason, lost to Dallas on Saturday night around the
- 45:06Speaker 2: NFL eight time Pro bowledge rusher Von Miller, thirty seven
- 45:09Speaker 2: years old, signing with the Cowboys to play his fifteenth
- 45:11Speaker 2: NFL season. Aaron Donald worked out for the Rams jet again.
- 45:14Speaker 2: Coach Sean McVay said he's hoping for a decision whether
- 45:16Speaker 2: the retired All World defensive tackle of his plan or
- 45:19Speaker 2: not will come quote sooner or later. You know, he's
- 45:22Speaker 2: cruising through training camps with Chie doing yeah. Manas beat
- 45:25Speaker 2: the trash Cans two out of three in Houston, including
- 45:27Speaker 2: three to two yesterday, andres Munios have bounced back save
- 45:30Speaker 2: after the disaster. On Friday, Brian Wu seventy five pitches
- 45:34Speaker 2: left with a short sore pitching shoulder. Manager Dan Wilson
- 45:37Speaker 2: said that was precautionary. Wu said there's nothing to worry about.
- 45:40Speaker 2: Seattle four games behind the Cans for first place in
- 45:43Speaker 2: the AL West, two and a half out in the
- 45:44Speaker 2: wild card race, thirty seven games left. The next three
- 45:47Speaker 2: are in Milwaukee starting tomorrow. The Sounders lost their club
- 45:50Speaker 2: record seventh straight MLS as matched two nil to Vancouver.
- 45:54Speaker 2: Eighth player got hurt. Eighth regular player, Yeah Carrera.
- 45:58Speaker 3: That was a tough one, subbed.
- 46:00Speaker 2: From the thirty six minutes. Sounders haven't won an MLS
- 46:02Speaker 2: since match since May thirteen. The Storm lost two more
- 46:06Speaker 2: games over the weekend, both at home and Climate Pledge
- 46:08Speaker 2: also beached in Portland and yes and eighty two eighty Yesterday,
- 46:12Speaker 2: Storm lost in Chicago. There's seven and thirty in the WNBA. Saturday,
- 46:16Speaker 2: Wrigley Field Cardinals Joshua Bias became the first Major League
- 46:19Speaker 2: player ever to hit three home runs in his first
- 46:21Speaker 2: three played appearances, back to back to back. We got
- 46:24Speaker 2: a standing ovation from Cubs fans at Wrigley Field, Oh
- 46:28Speaker 2: twenty six year old Major League twenty six year pitching
- 46:31Speaker 2: great Tommy John has died. He's eighty three years old.
- 46:34Speaker 2: He was eighty three. Played from nineteen sixty three to
- 46:36Speaker 2: eighty nine. He was the first to get a revolutionary
- 46:39Speaker 2: ligament replacement surgery in his pitching Elbow's ubiquitous. Now it's
- 46:43Speaker 2: called Tommy John surgery.
- 46:46Speaker 4: J melro go ahead, Hold on that huge diction that
- 46:50Speaker 4: you have.
- 46:50Speaker 3: Oh, here we go, here we ubiquitous.
- 46:54Speaker 2: Ubiquitous everywhere with tiss there are there are high school
- 46:59Speaker 2: pitchers that are getting pre pre emptive times John surgery.
- 47:03Speaker 3: They are.
- 47:04Speaker 2: That's ridiculous. That's the high.
- 47:08Speaker 7: Fifteen year old kids are getting ligament replacement just in
- 47:12Speaker 7: case for when it does rupture because they're throwing too
- 47:14Speaker 7: hard and throw many too many breaking balls earlier in
- 47:17Speaker 7: their careers.
- 47:18Speaker 3: They just take them to the park and not make them.
- 47:20Speaker 2: Throw travel ball. Man, they get a pitch all year round, yeah,
- 47:25Speaker 2: or else nobody will get paid in the travel team,
- 47:27Speaker 2: all right?
- 47:27Speaker 3: I interrupted?
- 47:29Speaker 2: Jayleen Milroe Jalen Milroe was the quarterback for a math
- 47:35Speaker 2: of the game on Saturday against the Cowboys. Drew Locke
- 47:39Speaker 2: started Milroe came in in the second half, second quarter
- 47:42Speaker 2: and again in the fourth quarter. He ended up three
- 47:45Speaker 2: of five three of eight passing for thirty six yards.
- 47:48Speaker 2: He ran five times for thirty six more yards. Mike
- 47:51Speaker 2: McDonald said, they've been trying to get him to throw,
- 47:53Speaker 2: to run the ball more when throws aren't there. He
- 47:57Speaker 2: talked to us last week. I talked to him before
- 47:59Speaker 2: practice on Thursday, and he said, decisiveness. I gotta be decisive.
- 48:03Speaker 2: That's my key to improving in year two in the NFL.
- 48:07Speaker 2: Here's how Jalen Melroe thought he did Saturday night.
- 48:12Speaker 14: It was good to be back on the field, especially
- 48:14Speaker 14: at home, start the year off, being around the guys,
- 48:18Speaker 14: and especially for us, you know, going through the training
- 48:22Speaker 14: camp competing against each other, it was an opportunity for
- 48:24Speaker 14: us to go compete against somebody else.
- 48:26Speaker 15: So it's a lot of fun. It's good to feel
- 48:28Speaker 15: the energy for our.
- 48:29Speaker 14: Fans, especially just being game one and preseason. So I'm
- 48:33Speaker 14: excited for the season to keep on rolling and we're
- 48:35Speaker 14: getting closer to our preyer game.
- 48:37Speaker 12: You told us a couple of days ago, decisiveness is
- 48:40Speaker 12: the key to being decisive. How do you think that one?
- 48:43Speaker 2: For you tonight.
- 48:43Speaker 14: Yeah, I think every player that I have the ball
- 48:46Speaker 14: in my hand, it's all about being decisive, trusting in
- 48:49Speaker 14: the game, playing, trusting in coach Flurry, whatever play call
- 48:52Speaker 14: you has, and putting an offense in the best position
- 48:54Speaker 14: to be successful. And so I think that was keyo
- 48:56Speaker 14: out the whole game. And of course, like this is
- 49:00Speaker 14: a preseason game, number one is far like, there's always
- 49:03Speaker 14: things we can clean up, there's always things we can
- 49:04Speaker 14: do positive and even if we came out victoria, there's
- 49:06Speaker 14: things that we can improve on get better at. And
- 49:09Speaker 14: so that's the exciting part about preseason and getting opportunity
- 49:13Speaker 14: to play today, and so, uh, the biggest thing just
- 49:16Speaker 14: to build.
- 49:16Speaker 15: On today and build on and going into our next opponent.
- 49:19Speaker 10: Especially the first half you took for a hundred a
- 49:21Speaker 10: few times you got to some big gauge.
- 49:22Speaker 12: Was that was that kind of a distissist to want
- 49:24Speaker 12: to try to do that in this game at.
- 49:25Speaker 15: All or not necessarily?
- 49:27Speaker 14: I think every time I have the ball in my hands,
- 49:28Speaker 14: it's all about putting our offense in the best position
- 49:30Speaker 14: to win. And whether it's passing, where it's running, what
- 49:32Speaker 14: was handling the ball off? So many areas to our
- 49:35Speaker 14: offense that uh can can beat a defense. And so
- 49:39Speaker 14: every opportunity we had to move the chains, we're gonna
- 49:41Speaker 14: do it in unique ways and that was just one
- 49:44Speaker 14: one way to do it.
- 49:46Speaker 4: What's Brent Flurry like in the game, how does he
- 49:48Speaker 4: give you feedback?
- 49:49Speaker 15: Yeah?
- 49:50Speaker 14: I think what's unique about having a play call on
- 49:53Speaker 14: the field, you can get direct dialogue as far as
- 49:56Speaker 14: what he's seeing players that are gonna set up during
- 49:59Speaker 14: a drive. You know, of course we have the iPads,
- 50:01Speaker 14: We're able to see exactly what covers, you know, structure
- 50:04Speaker 14: and things that they can have, and then the set
- 50:05Speaker 14: up plays and so it's the communication of moving forward,
- 50:08Speaker 14: right Like of course you watch the tape of what
- 50:10Speaker 14: exactly went down on that drive. So now it's to
- 50:13Speaker 14: moving forward aspect of looking at how we can attack
- 50:16Speaker 14: defense out.
- 50:17Speaker 12: Of the dispute at the game?
- 50:18Speaker 8: Feel today versus last year where you pleased with how
- 50:20Speaker 8: you're able.
- 50:21Speaker 15: To use your likes to scrap never please you know.
- 50:24Speaker 14: Of course, there's so many opportunity to grow as a
- 50:28Speaker 14: quarterback in this league, and so I think for all
- 50:33Speaker 14: of us in the locker room, it's like, how can
- 50:34Speaker 14: we be better than we work this weekend and today
- 50:37Speaker 14: was a great opportunity for us to putting the display
- 50:41Speaker 14: uh the hard work that we've been doing during the week,
- 50:42Speaker 14: and so of course we will wanna learn and grow
- 50:45Speaker 14: and get better. What what can a quarterback take in
- 50:47Speaker 14: terms of the team finishing.
- 50:49Speaker 12: And the red zone without pressing?
- 50:51Speaker 14: Yeah, then that's key. I think when you're in the
- 50:54Speaker 14: red zone, we need to come out on points. You know,
- 50:55Speaker 14: whether it's a field goal, whether it's a touchdown, coming
- 50:58Speaker 14: out with points is so important. It's actually helping our
- 51:00Speaker 14: defense out and putting putting points on the board is
- 51:04Speaker 14: so important.
- 51:05Speaker 15: You know, it's gonna.
- 51:06Speaker 14: Being critical when we play tough opponents. You know, when
- 51:09Speaker 14: we're trailing the game, whether we're in in the lead,
- 51:13Speaker 14: it just really just finishing drives. So I think that's
- 51:15Speaker 14: another emphasis for us, is finishing drives.
- 51:18Speaker 8: Tory Fosters didn't really playing camp football summer.
- 51:21Speaker 6: Now he's leading receiver in this game.
- 51:23Speaker 12: Is what are you seeing pre parents and.
- 51:24Speaker 14: Tiger, I think a growth mindset, a mindset to grow
- 51:28Speaker 14: each and every day he has opportunity to be on
- 51:30Speaker 14: the field. I think also their approach that he takes,
- 51:34Speaker 14: whether it's preparing, whether it's playing a different position X
- 51:38Speaker 14: to Z, F like being versatile so coach can use
- 51:42Speaker 14: on the field, And so I think that's something that
- 51:44Speaker 14: I applaud him on, is that he's being verstaile around
- 51:47Speaker 14: the field of playing all positions.
- 51:49Speaker 16: If you ever playing a game like that where the
- 51:51Speaker 16: quarterbacks were rotating that way rather than just being one
- 51:54Speaker 16: guy playing for a certain amount of times that the other.
- 51:56Speaker 2: One coming in, And what were your thoughts on that.
- 52:00Speaker 14: I think as a backup, you have to be prepared
- 52:02Speaker 14: or ready to go at any at a at any point,
- 52:06Speaker 14: it's not my person time being a backup, and so
- 52:09Speaker 14: I think reps are so important for me Andrew and
- 52:12Speaker 14: for any guy that's a backup because in the league,
- 52:15Speaker 14: you know the starter getting majority of the reps, so
- 52:17Speaker 14: as many rest that we can get as much as
- 52:19Speaker 14: possible going to prepare us and help us out for
- 52:21Speaker 14: whenever the opportunity comes that we play.
- 52:23Speaker 15: In the game. And so I don't see as a negative.
- 52:26Speaker 14: I think it's the opportunity for us to get reps,
- 52:28Speaker 14: and preseason is big for us because during the season,
- 52:31Speaker 14: once you have an established starter, you know your your
- 52:33Speaker 14: your reps are cut short.
- 52:34Speaker 11: You to robitary and rhold and you hope to do
- 52:38Speaker 11: Now it's like it's gonna happen that you've been able
- 52:40Speaker 11: to lock at him side.
- 52:41Speaker 2: What are your tho?
- 52:42Speaker 14: Of course, yeah, of course that's that's my dog, and
- 52:44Speaker 14: I'm very happy that he's going to be a Sea Hawk.
- 52:47Speaker 14: I think now it's just showing him the way of
- 52:49Speaker 14: how we do things. And I think that's not to
- 52:51Speaker 14: move forward process. You know, the process was trying to
- 52:53Speaker 14: figure out where he's going to go. So now he's
- 52:54Speaker 14: a Hawk, and so we're just gonna emphasize what we
- 52:57Speaker 14: do is you know as being here in Seattle and
- 53:00Speaker 14: emphasizing our theme, our mottos, and our team mission and
- 53:04Speaker 14: goals and so now it's a running forward mentality with
- 53:06Speaker 14: having them a part of our team.
- 53:08Speaker 12: What do you think people should know about Terry Ann?
- 53:12Speaker 14: I think number one is that he's committed. When he
- 53:15Speaker 14: has goals set for him, he wants to achieved him
- 53:18Speaker 14: and he's gonna put his all into everything he puts
- 53:19Speaker 14: into it. This is someone that's really cared about his teammates.
- 53:23Speaker 14: He's really unique as far as what he can do
- 53:25Speaker 14: in the field, and he's going to really love the
- 53:30Speaker 14: culture that we have here because it's similar to the
- 53:33Speaker 14: vibe that we had when we were in college.
- 53:36Speaker 12: How is he going through over us?
- 53:38Speaker 15: Doing good? He's doing good.
- 53:39Speaker 14: He concided for the opportunity and he's really gonna seize
- 53:43Speaker 14: it when he gets here.
- 53:45Speaker 2: That was Jalen Milroe, the former Alabama quarterback, and I
- 53:49Speaker 2: have a Seahawks third quarterback after the preseason game he
- 53:51Speaker 2: played in seventeen seven se O cost to Dallas at
- 53:54Speaker 2: Bloomingfield on Saturday night. It's talking about terry On Oarnold
- 53:57Speaker 2: because that was his college teammate at Alabama. Arnold and
- 54:01Speaker 2: Melroe in the same draft class. The Seahawks took Melroe
- 54:03Speaker 2: in the third round. The Lions took arry On Arnold
- 54:06Speaker 2: in the first round, twenty fourth overall, and then they
- 54:09Speaker 2: cut the cornerback when he was charged with eight felony
- 54:14Speaker 2: counts in Florida, kidnapping and burglary. Those charges carry up
- 54:17Speaker 2: to life in prison, all eight of them do Each
- 54:20Speaker 2: of the eight carry life in prison. I was looking
- 54:22Speaker 2: at the court doc documents in Hillsboro County, Florida. His
- 54:27Speaker 2: next scheduled appearance is October fifth, which would be after
- 54:30Speaker 2: the Seahawks fourth game of the season against the Los
- 54:33Speaker 2: Angeles Chargers at Lumenfield. Tarry On Arnold is not yet
- 54:36Speaker 2: in the building officially signed as as as I know it.
- 54:40Speaker 2: This morning we're saying if he's going to get hired
- 54:42Speaker 2: to practice before the team leaves for Nashville, and whether
- 54:45Speaker 2: Nashville and the joint practice on Friday might be the
- 54:48Speaker 2: first practice, the first full practice for Tarrion Arnold, who
- 54:52Speaker 2: has not been in pads since the end of the
- 54:54Speaker 2: Lions season.
- 54:55Speaker 3: That would be a weird one, like it as your
- 54:59Speaker 3: first practice.
- 55:00Speaker 2: I'm sure the hope is that he would get here
- 55:01Speaker 2: these three days before the team goes back East and
- 55:04Speaker 2: he could get acclimated to the team by then. Otherwise
- 55:08Speaker 2: you're looking at maybe one preseason week before NFL Commissioner
- 55:12Speaker 2: Roger Goodell might put him on the exemp list for
- 55:14Speaker 2: the regular season. So the Seahawks are trying to get
- 55:17Speaker 2: Arnold on the field so he can do what he
- 55:19Speaker 2: can do now before any punishment might be coming down
- 55:22Speaker 2: from the league. Of course, the Seahawks are at the
- 55:25Speaker 2: whim of whatever Goodell wants to be done, and Goodell
- 55:29Speaker 2: has set precedent in this case, these cases like this
- 55:33Speaker 2: that when a guy has been charged with these crimes,
- 55:36Speaker 2: they'd put him on the exemp list until the Jurispruden's
- 55:39Speaker 2: course runs his course. That made Hick until the entire season.
- 55:43Speaker 2: I mean, if his next hearing isn't until October, it
- 55:47Speaker 2: may take a while. The Seahawks obvioy. We talked about
- 55:50Speaker 2: this last week, just when the Seahawks and their investigation
- 55:52Speaker 2: with Arnold have obviously gotten to read that these charges
- 55:55Speaker 2: might be dropped or that he's exonerated in some way,
- 55:58Speaker 2: and that does happen in these cases that either those
- 56:01Speaker 2: who charged recancer stories or yeah.
- 56:05Speaker 3: So, and also we're never gonna really know.
- 56:09Speaker 4: Yeah, with these cases, you know, is that Chris Carter
- 56:13Speaker 4: you gotta have a fall guy literally giving advice to
- 56:18Speaker 4: new players coming in and saying, you gotta have a
- 56:22Speaker 4: fall guy. So is that the situation? Are these friends
- 56:27Speaker 4: of his who just used his name to try to
- 56:29Speaker 4: get out of a situation. We will never know.
- 56:34Speaker 2: Probably not. Meanwhile, the Seahawks are waiting for that, but
- 56:37Speaker 2: they him under contract, or at least they will when
- 56:39Speaker 2: he officially signs it. They have an agreement, Mike McDonald
- 56:42Speaker 2: confirming that on Friday to us. And now we're waiting
- 56:45Speaker 2: Tara on Arnold's arrival to the secondary, which this morning released, well,
- 56:50Speaker 2: not released, but lost one of the cornerbacks of the season.
- 56:53Speaker 2: They put on injured reserve, the veteran Shama Jean Charles,
- 56:56Speaker 2: who did not have a good game against Dallas on
- 56:59Speaker 2: Saturday night. Remember Jake Haynter by the way, briefly Washington
- 57:04Speaker 2: quarter was a Washington recruit to the Huskies. He had
- 57:07Speaker 2: a red shirt season and then he appeared as a
- 57:09Speaker 2: backup in a couple of games.
- 57:10Speaker 3: I remember his name, h A E.
- 57:12Speaker 2: N E. R.
- 57:13Speaker 3: Yes, he went.
- 57:14Speaker 2: From Jake Browning's back up to Fresno State and became
- 57:18Speaker 2: Fresno State's all time leading passer and was wild down there. Well,
- 57:21Speaker 2: Hayn is going to sign with the New York Giants,
- 57:24Speaker 2: it was this morning.
- 57:25Speaker 3: That's awesome.
- 57:26Speaker 2: Yea, let's go.
- 57:29Speaker 3: I mean, I'm all Koog's, but let's go. Yeah, that
- 57:36Speaker 3: is really great.
- 57:38Speaker 2: By the way, it's knuck up on me that the
- 57:39Speaker 2: Apple Cup is like two weeks away. I know you're groaning.
- 57:44Speaker 2: You don't want it on a Sunday.
- 57:46Speaker 3: Not the app Cup anymore.
- 57:49Speaker 4: I also being on a Sunday night is a little odd.
- 57:54Speaker 4: I don't have to travel for that one though, so
- 57:57Speaker 4: I will be here.
- 57:58Speaker 3: But yeah, it's a little odd. And then I don't
- 58:01Speaker 3: even have lease because she's in the booth. I know,
- 58:05Speaker 3: she was my sideline homie exactly.
- 58:07Speaker 2: That'll be your first game.
- 58:09Speaker 4: Which is the new voice of the Huskies, amazing and
- 58:12Speaker 4: well deserved.
- 58:13Speaker 2: She'll be on the broadcast live here on ninety three
- 58:15Speaker 2: point three KJR on Sunday, September the sixth Yesday Sunday
- 58:19Speaker 2: Apple Cup because NBC got Washington, Washington State to move
- 58:24Speaker 2: the one hundred and eighteenth Apple Cup two Sunday afternoon
- 58:27Speaker 2: as an exclusive national one pm Pacific time kickoff at
- 58:31Speaker 2: Husky Stadium on Montlake. You'll hear all about on ninety
- 58:33Speaker 2: three point three KJFM, your home of the Huskies, who
- 58:36Speaker 2: have their own training camp preseason camp going on down
- 58:39Speaker 2: on Montlake daily with coach Jetfish as well. Four nine,
- 58:43Speaker 2: four to five one. Are you going to the Apple Cup?
- 58:45Speaker 2: Would you change? Are you changing your Labor Day plans
- 58:48Speaker 2: to go to the Apple Cup? You Husky fans, you
- 58:50Speaker 2: Cougar fans out there Sunday afternoon, smack in the middle
- 58:53Speaker 2: of Labor Day weekend. The Apple Cup is one o'clock
- 58:56Speaker 2: on a Sunday.
- 58:58Speaker 4: I mean, you're lucky if Sunday is the middle of
- 59:01Speaker 4: your weekend.
- 59:02Speaker 2: Well, yeah, because you got Monday off in this case
- 59:04Speaker 2: of Labor Day. Yeah, exactly a joke.
- 59:07Speaker 3: That's just joking, right.
- 59:09Speaker 2: That's a good weekend when Sundays in the middle.
- 59:12Speaker 4: Yeah, oh yeah, it is interesting though. I'm wondering what
- 59:15Speaker 4: people think about the turnout this year.
- 59:19Speaker 2: I'm assuming it'll be full. It always is because all
- 59:22Speaker 2: the koog fans and kugle Lum's on the west side
- 59:24Speaker 2: of the Cascades. But I hope so. Yeah, that's a
- 59:28Speaker 2: that's a tough ass though, on Labor Day weekend at
- 59:32Speaker 2: the middle and smack in the middle of a Sunday afternoon.
- 59:34Speaker 2: But I've been Husky Stadium week fool. I'd be really
- 59:38Speaker 2: surprised one in fool.
- 59:40Speaker 4: It's I hate to say this, but I love the
- 59:43Speaker 4: people over there. It is a gorgeous, gorgeous venue.
- 59:48Speaker 3: It is so great.
- 59:49Speaker 4: The press box is very high up, but I've been
- 59:52Speaker 4: on the field as well. It is a wonderful place
- 59:55Speaker 4: to watch college football.
- 59:57Speaker 2: Were you in the old press box that was attached
- 59:59Speaker 2: to the room at the before it was remodeled.
- 1:00:02Speaker 4: I don't know, because I was not on the up
- 1:00:05Speaker 4: and up when I first started knowing the you know,
- 1:00:10Speaker 4: finagling of the stadium.
- 1:00:12Speaker 3: But it shook when I was up there.
- 1:00:15Speaker 2: It was I covered many many years of Husky football
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: for the Associated press up there, and it did shake.
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: And that I might have been there that you had
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: to take a catwalk from the main building out to
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: the press box, which is literally hanging over the field under.
- 1:00:31Speaker 3: Oh oh no, I'm I'm not.
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: As you would have looked down at the you would
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: look down at the catwalk and you would see fans
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: under you because you were out over the stage. Oh.
- 1:00:41Speaker 3: I heard the tales of this.
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: And so they were playing a Saturday game against LSU
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: one September fifteen years ago, Hawing many years ago. That
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: was maybe twenty years ago at this point, and the
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: LSU LSU's football traveling beat contingent is like thirty people.
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: I mean, there were writers and this is even pre
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: internet blog people. This was the media horde is big
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: at LSU. And they're all in the right side of
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: Husky Stadiums press box. And there was a touchdown for
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: the Huskies. I think one of them, it was otherwise
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: not a good result for you. Dub that night against
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: l s U, and the stadium shook and the press
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: box shook, and those dudes and gals from LSU's media
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: were grabbing the table in front of them, bracing themselves.
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: They thought we were going to fall into the field
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: because you had to. You had to lean forward in
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: your seat and look straight down on the field like
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: a drone, a roller coaster. It was wild. We don't
- 1:01:39Speaker 2: have They don't have that anymore. It is attached to
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: the mean oh.
- 1:01:45Speaker 3: That we have our safety intact.
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: That old Husky Stadium press box was awesome. He would
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: raid sideways into it. It had little holes in the
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: side and they would wind would come through that.
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: Okay, I probably got there right after that was done.
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: Some of you who know what I'm talking about, those
- 1:02:02Speaker 2: you've been in the media might be listening to Seattle.
- 1:02:05Speaker 3: Who are fans and looked up and saw, yes.
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: What our feet great? What exactly? Well?
- 1:02:14Speaker 4: I mean, everything's going to change, and we know that
- 1:02:17Speaker 4: in college athletics as a whole right now, and.
- 1:02:20Speaker 3: I like to hold onto those moments.
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: They've changed Martin Stadium quite a bit as well.
- 1:02:25Speaker 3: And they have very good improvements.
- 1:02:28Speaker 2: And the Kougs are on the other side. Now they're
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: on the press box side for the first time this year.
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: The players in sideline are going to be.
- 1:02:34Speaker 3: I get the shade. Bring it on.
- 1:02:36Speaker 2: Not in front of the students anymore. For the Apple
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: Cup one hundred and eighteenth Apple Cup Sunday, September sixth,
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: one pm kickoff et least Woodward's debut as a voice
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: of the Huskies right here on ninety three point three KJRFM.
- 1:02:47Speaker 2: Up next your chance to be a part of the
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: show four nine, four or five one that's coming out
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: text line Any talkbacks we love to play those.
- 1:02:55Speaker 3: Got a few, but keep them on coming.
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: I have a feeling, I know what the subject is,
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: and we come back. You will be part of the
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: show next we return from Seahawks headquarters on ninety three
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: point three kJ RFM.
- 1:03:33Speaker 15: Absolutely not.
- 1:03:36Speaker 2: Put a fork in him.
- 1:03:40Speaker 12: They're done.
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: Too little, too late.
- 1:03:46Speaker 17: I agree with Greg one hundred percent about Jerry being
- 1:03:50Speaker 17: wrong to call Colt out on that, but I'm just
- 1:03:52Speaker 17: not surprised. It's just another example of his continued failures
- 1:03:57Speaker 17: at the major league level. Leading this team eleven eleven
- 1:04:01Speaker 17: years is enough to get him out and justin. I
- 1:04:04Speaker 17: don't want him to have another chance to pick a
- 1:04:06Speaker 17: new manager. He should be done.
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: Okay, talkbacks on the iHeartRadio app ninety three KJR or
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: the website ninety three KJR dot com. There's a red
- 1:04:17Speaker 2: microphone button that top. You'll get voice moments in thirty
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: seconds or shorter, and we will play it back for
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: you every day at eleven thirty talking about Jerry Depoto
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: with comments that Colt Emerson should have spoken up about
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: his wrist bothering him throughout the season while he was
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: betting one that he had an injury in March. He
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: team knew that he had a spring training risk injury.
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: They knew it so much that they gave him a
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: cortisone injection in April when he was with Triple A Tacoma.
- 1:04:45Speaker 3: But he should have said something.
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: There are leadership examples and then there are not. That's
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: for sure. That was not no the baseball operation. Again,
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: I think that's worse than fifty four percent.
- 1:04:59Speaker 4: It is because you throw your young budding star under
- 1:05:06Speaker 4: the bus.
- 1:05:06Speaker 3: One while doing so, I mean, he spend in this
- 1:05:11Speaker 3: business for so long. I'm just like, you've a speech writer,
- 1:05:17Speaker 3: How do you not know that that would be the
- 1:05:19Speaker 3: wrong thing to do.
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: Two three is back to come a dodge Tex line
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: four nine four five one three says that this they
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: love Rock Rodney said he is playing with some passion.
- 1:05:31Speaker 2: We need more energy, more hungry players like that. Tired
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: of the excuses for veteran players perform or give opportunities
- 1:05:38Speaker 2: for other players. Ryan Bliss, please bring him up? Player
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: at it last, Montes, maybe Arroyo bring him all up.
- 1:05:48Speaker 4: I mean at this point. Once they do that, though,
- 1:05:52Speaker 4: that's signaling defeat.
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: Is it? They might be better than they might be
- 1:05:57Speaker 2: better than they died up.
- 1:05:59Speaker 4: Here this point of the season, though, I'm saying, if
- 1:06:02Speaker 4: you're thinking about from baseball, that'd be great.
- 1:06:08Speaker 3: I'm saying what it would signal.
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: It could be better.
- 1:06:12Speaker 4: I don't disagree like I don't disagree with you.
- 1:06:16Speaker 3: I'm just saying what it would look like.
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: Two five three says predictions. The Mariners will not make
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: the playoffs. Dan Wilson and Jerry Depoto will both be fired.
- 1:06:25Speaker 2: That means by the management, as I mean the ownership.
- 1:06:28Speaker 2: Sounders will not make the playoffs. Smetzer will be fired.
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: Crackers make the playoffs again. Lambert will be fired. This
- 1:06:35Speaker 2: is not me being negative. This is just what I see.
- 1:06:38Speaker 3: Oh well, no, Schmetzer will not be fired.
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: I don't think he's an institution here locally.
- 1:06:45Speaker 3: It's wonderful.
- 1:06:46Speaker 2: The Sounders have lost seven straight MLS matches for the
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: first time in their existence.
- 1:06:51Speaker 3: Yeah, the cracking great. It's not been great the crack.
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: And that's interesting because they did bring Lambert back even
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: though they didn't make the playoffs last year. They not
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: want and yet another coaching overhaul. But you would think
- 1:07:04Speaker 2: after not making the playoffs four times in the first
- 1:07:06Speaker 2: five years that yeah, they do the crack and make
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: the playoffs. I mean for him to keep the job. Maybe. Yeah.
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: I was talking about this with Ian the other day.
- 1:07:19Speaker 4: You know, we saw the meteoric rise of the Kraken
- 1:07:23Speaker 4: in twenty twenty three, right, you know, playoffs, you know,
- 1:07:28Speaker 4: seven game series. It was so exciting, everyone was all
- 1:07:32Speaker 4: into it. And we saw the same thing last year
- 1:07:34Speaker 4: with the Mariners. And my question is did they overachieve?
- 1:07:40Speaker 4: And so I don't know if someone needs to get
- 1:07:44Speaker 4: fired because they overachieved.
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: The Krakens. Problem is they're getting and I've said this
- 1:07:50Speaker 2: many times and it was true in the first year
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: and It's true. In the fifth year they're getting compared
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: to the Vegas Golden Nights. And even though the expansion
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: rules of the NHL changed, people say, wait a minute.
- 1:08:01Speaker 2: The Golden Knights made the Stanley Cup Final with their
- 1:08:03Speaker 2: very first year of existence and been to the Cup
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: final three times in their first nine years. That's not
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: helping this at all. The cracking, because the Cracking a
- 1:08:12Speaker 2: in the same division as Vegas all the time. Well,
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: exactly not helping.
- 1:08:17Speaker 3: I mean they overachieved from the start.
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: Yeah, well, yeah, learn not to give their best players
- 1:08:23Speaker 2: to the expansion draft. They changed the rules on expansion
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: draft as well. Two six says post a video of
- 1:08:29Speaker 2: you doing twenty five push ups that the Mariners make
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: the playoffs. I'll do fifty.
- 1:08:33Speaker 3: I'll do one hundred, Greg, I'm writing that down. I
- 1:08:37Speaker 3: do fifty, Okay, Okay, so we're head there.
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: I could knock out fit right now in a row
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: that could.
- 1:08:45Speaker 3: Be fished, okay.
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: Correct. So but would they be clickerboard? Would they be
- 1:08:49Speaker 2: clickerboard worthy? You know what clickerboard is in the military
- 1:08:53Speaker 2: back in.
- 1:08:54Speaker 3: I did not serve you did I don't know.
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: Well, somebody listening out there knows what I'm talking about
- 1:08:59Speaker 2: back in the late eighties early nineties. I was in
- 1:09:02Speaker 2: West Point eighty nine to ninety three. For the PT
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: test physical fitness test, we had to use a clickerboard.
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: What's that, Well, it's a piece of plywood with wood
- 1:09:13Speaker 2: bracket it on top of it, like a wood pillow
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: pill box of a wood as rectangle was probably like
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: six inches long rectangle tacked to the wood board. There's
- 1:09:25Speaker 2: a small gap between that wood box and the plywood clickerboard.
- 1:09:29Speaker 2: So when you you had to bring your chest down
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: low enough for this two or three inch high board
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: to to clicker the actual plywood board. If you didn't
- 1:09:40Speaker 2: bring your chest down far enough, no, click didn't count.
- 1:09:43Speaker 3: Oh they west push ups.
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: So then you would yeah, and there would be a
- 1:09:49Speaker 2: Department of Physical Education instructor some unbelievably fit like Tony
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: Atlas guy standing over you with a major or a
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: captain going no, no, no. You know what demoralizing is
- 1:10:01Speaker 2: to be absolutely smoked doing as many push ups as
- 1:10:04Speaker 2: you can for two minutes and being told no, no,
- 1:10:08Speaker 2: You're like on seventy five and you're saying no, yeah.
- 1:10:11Speaker 4: Well, I mean I had the same thing when I
- 1:10:14Speaker 4: was squatting in college when I had to do squats
- 1:10:16Speaker 4: for volleyball and you had to get the bottom like
- 1:10:21Speaker 4: you had to get to a ninety degree angle when
- 1:10:26Speaker 4: maxing out.
- 1:10:27Speaker 3: So it's not the same.
- 1:10:28Speaker 4: I wasn't serving, I was just playing, you know, it
- 1:10:31Speaker 4: was just weightlifting. And I heard that too though, and
- 1:10:36Speaker 4: it was like, you didn't touch it, you didn't get there,
- 1:10:39Speaker 4: you didn't get there, you didn't get there.
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: Very demoralizing.
- 1:10:42Speaker 4: Well for you, I think it's a little more demoralizing.
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: Well, your cadet rating at the time, and then your
- 1:10:48Speaker 2: officer rating when you became an officer. You had to
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: take it a PT test at least twice a year.
- 1:10:51Speaker 2: When I was an officer, your ratings and how your
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: promotions were based on largely on your PET score. The
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: higher your PET score, the more favorable you were to
- 1:10:59Speaker 2: be Army, the more promotion, the whole thing. And I
- 1:11:05Speaker 2: mean those clickerboards became a big deal. I don't think
- 1:11:08Speaker 2: they still use it.
- 1:11:09Speaker 4: They change the There are probably people out there that
- 1:11:12Speaker 4: still know what it is.
- 1:11:13Speaker 2: Somebody out there has done a push on a clickerboard.
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: I know they have basic training in the Army and
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: Navy Marines in eighties nineties. I don't know about the air Force.
- 1:11:21Speaker 2: They're pretty soft.
- 1:11:22Speaker 4: I bet, I bet the terms still exists though.
- 1:11:25Speaker 3: That's herd Okay, here we go, oh go, you go?
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: Four two five says I don't want the Mariners to
- 1:11:31Speaker 2: make the playoffs, so hopefully it forces massive, massive changes
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: in the manager in the front office. There are a
- 1:11:36Speaker 2: lot of Manner fans that think that you guys are
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: There's a segment. There's a segment of Mariner fans who
- 1:11:43Speaker 2: believe if they make the playoffs, it's just going to
- 1:11:45Speaker 2: be a return of the same old and they don't
- 1:11:47Speaker 2: want the same old even if they make the playoffs.
- 1:11:50Speaker 2: I understand the thinking. Again, you're not going to get
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: me to ever criticize a Mariner fan for just about anything.
- 1:11:55Speaker 2: Because they've waited fifty damn years for a World series
- 1:11:58Speaker 2: and they're still waiting. They are absolutely justified. And the
- 1:12:02Speaker 2: frustration and everything else.
- 1:12:05Speaker 3: We got some hu yahs coming in.
- 1:12:08Speaker 2: I knew there'd be somebody who knows what I'm talking about.
- 1:12:11Speaker 2: I knew it fifty okay.
- 1:12:16Speaker 3: Yeah, I wrote it down. I wrote down fifty right.
- 1:12:18Speaker 2: I can knock out fifty right now on a video.
- 1:12:20Speaker 4: I know that I've seen I've seen your upper body strength.
- 1:12:25Speaker 3: I'm aware of it. I can just see that.
- 1:12:28Speaker 2: No, I do it my daughter at the Army Davy game.
- 1:12:31Speaker 2: It's fun. That's what it got. I put it on
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: video one time and put it on social media, and
- 1:12:36Speaker 2: that's where this all has come from. The Wow a
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: couple of years ago.
- 1:12:39Speaker 3: Greg, you're very strong. I can tell you're strong. Let's
- 1:12:44Speaker 3: get to our friend Keith Miller.
- 1:12:45Speaker 4: Who says, some of these people applying for the molliwob
- 1:12:49Speaker 4: the way, it's all doom and gloom. You got two
- 1:12:52Speaker 4: of three against your division leader.
- 1:12:55Speaker 3: It was a good weekend. I think he might be
- 1:12:58Speaker 3: being sarcastic, but.
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: It was a good weekend. It was not a bad
- 1:13:02Speaker 2: weekend for sure, to win out of three against the
- 1:13:04Speaker 2: first place team. It just could have been so much
- 1:13:06Speaker 2: more without that meltdown in the tenth inning on Friday night.
- 1:13:10Speaker 4: Yeah, that that was kind of like, you know what
- 1:13:13Speaker 4: stinks is when you're going into a weekend like that,
- 1:13:17Speaker 4: that just like cuts so many people off.
- 1:13:20Speaker 3: I'm not going to watch the rest of it. But
- 1:13:22Speaker 3: the rest of the weekend.
- 1:13:23Speaker 2: Was good, exactly. The winning home run Friday night that
- 1:13:28Speaker 2: was over the train tracks. I think was that was
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: a missile. It looked like a javeline shot.
- 1:13:33Speaker 3: That was hent get it?
- 1:13:36Speaker 2: Which it was way over the tracks.
- 1:13:38Speaker 3: Well, I was thinking about you know in.
- 1:13:41Speaker 4: It's San Francisco right where they have the kayakers who
- 1:13:45Speaker 4: sit out in the bay and stuff.
- 1:13:47Speaker 3: Yeah, do we have that. No, we don't. It's a
- 1:13:50Speaker 3: little too far. That'd be record setter.
- 1:13:55Speaker 2: Thou Or continues to disappoint. Didn't even look good against
- 1:14:02Speaker 2: the backups to the worst defense in the NFL last year.
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: Well there is that the Cowboys starters defense were terrible
- 1:14:09Speaker 2: and then they hit the backups and on the other night.
- 1:14:12Speaker 2: Two six. The Mariners are far from out of this thing.
- 1:14:15Speaker 2: They have seventeen games left against the three worst teams
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: in baseball down the stretch. Yep, there's a lot of
- 1:14:20Speaker 2: a's and Angels in that September schedule. We will, in
- 1:14:23Speaker 2: all caps, win the division and be back in the ALCS.
- 1:14:27Speaker 2: Market dude, smiley faced with sunglasses emoji, All.
- 1:14:32Speaker 4: Right, that's like being a chill dude. That is market dude.
- 1:14:37Speaker 4: That means okay, like I'm cool, got it, I'm cool.
- 1:14:41Speaker 2: Two five three. The Mariners owners and Jerry have no
- 1:14:43Speaker 2: idea what it takes to lead you winning culture, even
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: a positive one. The owners only want to make money.
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: Nothing will change with pack stadiums.
- 1:14:50Speaker 3: He brought it to that point before people that feel
- 1:14:54Speaker 3: that way.
- 1:14:55Speaker 2: Two six is Husky Stadium, one of the best venues
- 1:14:57Speaker 2: in sports, also has the ability to be one of
- 1:14:59Speaker 2: the coldest plays on Earth, even when it's not snowing.
- 1:15:02Speaker 3: Have experienced it, yes, and I can't attest to it.
- 1:15:07Speaker 2: That's true. I was there one night for a Saturday
- 1:15:10Speaker 2: night Oregon State game and they're like, when was that
- 1:15:12Speaker 2: two thousand and six? Maybe it was raining sideways and
- 1:15:17Speaker 2: the ball couldn't even stay on the field. The ball
- 1:15:19Speaker 2: was getting blown off the field and the umpire had
- 1:15:22Speaker 2: to stand over it and it was raining sidew was
- 1:15:24Speaker 2: Isaiah's standback? Was the quarterback?
- 1:15:25Speaker 3: And that oh wow? Yeah, all the way back to Isaiah.
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: I'm old And no there was. There was a field
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: goal kicker I can't remember his name for Oregon State,
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: who is an All American kicker who kicked four or
- 1:15:37Speaker 2: five field goals through that wind and rain and beat him.
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: It was like I remember writing the story for the
- 1:15:43Speaker 2: AP that night of the game, story about how herculean
- 1:15:45Speaker 2: this kicker was to kick into the teeth of this
- 1:15:47Speaker 2: wind and rain five field goals to beat up Washington
- 1:15:51Speaker 2: team at Husky Stadium days.
- 1:15:53Speaker 4: You know one I think it was like four years ago.
- 1:15:57Speaker 4: Oregon and Washington ended up playing on my bye weekend
- 1:16:02Speaker 4: for Washington State.
- 1:16:03Speaker 3: So I sideline reported for ESPN Radio and did the game.
- 1:16:09Speaker 4: And it was like, I have no bones in this
- 1:16:11Speaker 4: game because I hate you both, so I'm just going
- 1:16:14Speaker 4: to be a reporter.
- 1:16:16Speaker 3: And it was still really cold that day for me.
- 1:16:22Speaker 3: And it was early in the season.
- 1:16:24Speaker 4: It was, you know, maybe like mid October, and it
- 1:16:28Speaker 4: is hold down there.
- 1:16:31Speaker 2: Four two five said, and I forgot to bring this up,
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: but yes, Jamal Adams out for the season. Twelve snaps
- 1:16:39Speaker 2: all he lasted and that artificial turf in the meadowlands.
- 1:16:44Speaker 2: The players have a lot of stories about that turf
- 1:16:46Speaker 2: in the metal lands, rips out his knee in a
- 1:16:48Speaker 2: non contact injuries out for the year. Jamal Adams is
- 1:16:50Speaker 2: season over after just twelve preseason snaps. Four five said.
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: When I heard that, it made me smile just a little.
- 1:16:57Speaker 4: Oh no, you cannot like the guy don't root for
- 1:17:02Speaker 4: an injury.
- 1:17:03Speaker 2: But no, I understand the karma thing.
- 1:17:06Speaker 4: But yeah, I get that you don't like him, but
- 1:17:09Speaker 4: I hate rooting for an injury.
- 1:17:12Speaker 2: Four to two five says no clicker push ups needed.
- 1:17:15Speaker 2: Regular ones work out work regular regular ones work out
- 1:17:19Speaker 2: just as well. Yeah, I think it had more.
- 1:17:20Speaker 4: To do with the dictatory plan and yeah, exactly, instructors.
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: I was at forts two five three, I was at
- 1:17:28Speaker 2: Forts still in eighty nine to ninety No clicker word Okay,
- 1:17:30Speaker 2: good to know. So maybe it was just statistic of
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: for the West Point instructors.
- 1:17:34Speaker 4: Maybe though the term is still recognizable.
- 1:17:40Speaker 2: Perhaps that's true. Six oh three says Munos one hundred
- 1:17:42Speaker 2: save is a big, big deal. Yep, absolutely should have.
- 1:17:45Speaker 3: One hundred one it is. I love him.
- 1:17:48Speaker 2: Should have one, dude. The ownership is the problem. To
- 1:17:51Speaker 2: six says that is the only constant in the past
- 1:17:53Speaker 2: thirty years of Mariner futility share amounts of change people
- 1:17:57Speaker 2: have not I get it again, I get it.
- 1:18:04Speaker 3: Mm hmm yeah. The first.
- 1:18:10Speaker 2: Keith wants enough from the two five three. Does the
- 1:18:12Speaker 2: show of any restrictions for fantasy football coverage? No, some
- 1:18:15Speaker 2: fresh takes would be awesome. Oh no, no, I don't. Honestly,
- 1:18:19Speaker 2: I'm just not a fantasy football guy, I don't play it.
- 1:18:21Speaker 2: I don't. People are like, what you're in sport? You know.
- 1:18:25Speaker 2: I just don't have time and don't care.
- 1:18:26Speaker 3: But I don't. You guys, I made my nephew's league.
- 1:18:32Speaker 2: Oh so you do it by doing it? If you
- 1:18:34Speaker 2: all want to know, I I does it with Fundston
- 1:18:36Speaker 2: quite a bit. So if you if you all want it,
- 1:18:40Speaker 2: we can. I don't know if we'd have a regular
- 1:18:42Speaker 2: guest or not. We already have Brandon Funston on with
- 1:18:45Speaker 2: Ian's show, but every Thursday.
- 1:18:49Speaker 4: I I like it for the fun of it. I
- 1:18:52Speaker 4: was talking to my nephew yesterday and actually explaining to
- 1:18:56Speaker 4: him how to cross reference schedules and who like what
- 1:19:01Speaker 4: heavy year it is for certain positions, and I'm like, oh,
- 1:19:05Speaker 4: he's eleven, Okay, I need to dial list back. And
- 1:19:08Speaker 4: so I said, call in to Ian show on Thursday.
- 1:19:13Speaker 3: Right, We'll see if he can teach us something.
- 1:19:16Speaker 4: And then I had to kind of dial our back
- 1:19:19Speaker 4: and tell him, just ask a simple question. Should I
- 1:19:22Speaker 4: take a running back or a wide receiver first pick?
- 1:19:25Speaker 4: Just ask that and he'll hook you up.
- 1:19:28Speaker 2: Three six says about Jamn Miler. I think there's it's
- 1:19:31Speaker 2: time to let another team take on the project. Milroe
- 1:19:34Speaker 2: doesn't look like he gets it. We've talked about this before.
- 1:19:36Speaker 2: They don't need him to be an NFL ready quarterback
- 1:19:38Speaker 2: this year. They need him to be ready next year
- 1:19:40Speaker 2: when Drew Lock's contract runs out and they have a
- 1:19:42Speaker 2: decision whether to resign Lock or run with Milroe. Of course,
- 1:19:46Speaker 2: for Milroe, this is his chance now to make the
- 1:19:48Speaker 2: impression that they're going to make that decision based on
- 1:19:50Speaker 2: after this season. He's only in year two of his
- 1:19:53Speaker 2: four year rookie contract at minimum salary. They're not releasing
- 1:19:56Speaker 2: him there. It will be interesting to see if they
- 1:19:58Speaker 2: keep them on the game day, game week active roster
- 1:20:01Speaker 2: every week like they did last year. If they want
- 1:20:03Speaker 2: to put them on the practice squad, they have to
- 1:20:05Speaker 2: expose them to waivers. So that's some of the choice
- 1:20:09Speaker 2: they're making. That's what it's at stake for Jaylen Melroe
- 1:20:11Speaker 2: this week when they go to Tennessee joint practice Friday
- 1:20:14Speaker 2: with the Seahawks and Titans. Second preseason game Sunday up next.
- 1:20:19Speaker 2: The Mayor Maple Value in for Nass will tell us
- 1:20:21Speaker 2: what he's got going on next.
- 1:20:22Speaker 4: Including we have Chris Crawford in for the Mayor what
- 1:20:27Speaker 4: we got a lot, a lot, Yeah, I know, right.
- 1:20:34Speaker 2: Chris Crawford and we'll talk next three point three kJ
- 1:20:37Speaker 2: R off them. Hi, welcome back Greg Bell at SKS headquarters,
- 1:21:08Speaker 2: Jessman McIntyre. We're here every day ten am the noon
- 1:21:10Speaker 2: on ninety three point three KJRFM, and today Chris Crawford
- 1:21:14Speaker 2: is joining us because he's on the show instead of
- 1:21:17Speaker 2: the inf Ness from twelve until three. Good morning, sir,
- 1:21:20Speaker 2: how you doing, buddy, I'm good. Abbreviated weekend because I
- 1:21:24Speaker 2: was at the stadium for some of it. You were
- 1:21:26Speaker 2: probably immersed in Mariners trash cans all weekend.
- 1:21:30Speaker 16: You know what's funny is I had to cover the
- 1:21:32Speaker 16: game for NBC, so I had to watch that game
- 1:21:35Speaker 16: a little bit later.
- 1:21:37Speaker 2: But uh, you know, it was.
- 1:21:39Speaker 16: It was a fun little sports week. It's a nice
- 1:21:41Speaker 16: reminder of how fun the middle of August till the
- 1:21:44Speaker 16: end of October can be, especially if you have two
- 1:21:48Speaker 16: teams involved in those games, and you know, we'll have
- 1:21:51Speaker 16: three with the Huskies, and if you're forced to be
- 1:21:53Speaker 16: a Cougar fan, I suppose there can be four.
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: Hi.
- 1:21:56Speaker 2: Now hello my friend.
- 1:21:57Speaker 3: Hey, now, hello my friend.
- 1:21:59Speaker 16: But yeah, it was it was a fun little weekend
- 1:22:01Speaker 16: and it felt like a series that as much of
- 1:22:05Speaker 16: a must win as you could possibly have at this
- 1:22:07Speaker 16: time of year.
- 1:22:09Speaker 2: Are you with me and thinking that they are really good?
- 1:22:11Speaker 2: It's that Friday game is gonna haunt them the rest
- 1:22:13Speaker 2: of the season.
- 1:22:14Speaker 16: Maybe you bet, you're sweet, Bippy, Yeah, I think Friday
- 1:22:18Speaker 16: is a game that we're gonna look back at for
- 1:22:20Speaker 16: a very very long time. It seems like they have
- 1:22:24Speaker 16: one of these every year. There was the game against
- 1:22:27Speaker 16: Kansas City, not to that in twenty twenty five. There
- 1:22:30Speaker 16: was another game in kids Kansas City in twenty twenty four.
- 1:22:32Speaker 16: There's always something you look back on, but that's one,
- 1:22:36Speaker 16: especially looking back at that one and also the other
- 1:22:40Speaker 16: Moonials blow up where it's just a bunch of dink
- 1:22:43Speaker 16: and dunk, dink and dunk, dink and duck in that
- 1:22:45Speaker 16: obviously the three run blast where boy, it just feels
- 1:22:49Speaker 16: like the baseball gods sometimes just don't love us very much.
- 1:22:51Speaker 2: Mister Bell. Those gods were against him on the rodden
- 1:22:56Speaker 2: hit into the corner. If that doesn't go over the
- 1:22:58Speaker 2: short wall on the foul side, oh yeah, that's a
- 1:23:01Speaker 2: go ahead run. They don't even have a tenth inning
- 1:23:03Speaker 2: that's a great point. That's a great point.
- 1:23:05Speaker 16: Yeah, just I mean, look, they have built their own
- 1:23:09Speaker 16: or dug their own grave, but it seems like the
- 1:23:12Speaker 16: grave diggers aren't being very nice to him at the
- 1:23:14Speaker 16: same time, and maybe dig in a little bit faster.
- 1:23:17Speaker 16: It is fair to say the Marrigers haven't gotten a
- 1:23:19Speaker 16: lot of breaks this year.
- 1:23:20Speaker 2: I have a feeling that the Jerry Depoto comments on
- 1:23:24Speaker 2: Cold Emerson will be a large part of your show today.
- 1:23:27Speaker 2: Yes they will.
- 1:23:28Speaker 16: No, we are definitely going to talk about it in
- 1:23:30Speaker 16: the twelve o'clock hour, and then of course on Molly
- 1:23:33Speaker 16: Watt Monday. Mister Nathan Bishop, I have told him just
- 1:23:38Speaker 16: be careful, be careful, but we're gonna be talking about
- 1:23:41Speaker 16: it in an awful lot because boy, oh boy, are
- 1:23:44Speaker 16: those comments tough to digest at a time like this.
- 1:23:48Speaker 2: Ooh, that's for sure. Yeah, Chris is up next from
- 1:23:51Speaker 2: twelve until three. Thank you, sir, You bet buddy, have
- 1:23:54Speaker 2: a great week. You as well. Enjoy their Monday, Jessein
- 1:23:57Speaker 2: MacIntyre and I thank you. I'm heading off to go
- 1:24:00Speaker 2: do some interviews, hopefully trying to catch Bud Clark. If
- 1:24:02Speaker 2: I get him, you'll hear from him tomorrow. I'll do
- 1:24:05Speaker 2: it again the rookie safety second round pick. I'll do
- 1:24:08Speaker 2: it again tomorrow at ten to noon here from Seahawks Headquarters,
- 1:24:10Speaker 2: Jessman and I will do it again tomorrow. Up next
- 1:24:12Speaker 2: is Chris Crawford and enjoy. Have a great Monday. Bye
