Emporia State’s Welch Stadium is getting a major upgrade with the installation of brand-new FieldTurf, now dubbed Blackcreek Diesel Field — a nod to local automotive mogul Clint Drake, who grew up in Emporia and has deep ties to the stadium. This marks the second big renovation in under a year, following the new video board.
