- 0:00Speaker 1: Time now for back to the basics and healthcare with
- 0:02Speaker 1: Balance Life Chiropractic. We have doctor Harley with us, Hey
- 0:04Speaker 1: doing doctor Harley.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Hey John, I'm doing great. I can't believe we're already
- 0:08Speaker 2: into November and holiday seasons coming up here fast.
- 0:11Speaker 1: I had to change my clocks and now all of
- 0:13Speaker 1: a sudden, here we are. It's like we're going to
- 0:15Speaker 1: blink and it'll be Thanksgiving, then it'll be Christmas, then
- 0:17Speaker 1: it'll be New Year. So now is the time if
- 0:19Speaker 1: you've got insurance and you want to make sure that
- 0:22Speaker 1: you get the most of it between now and the
- 0:23Speaker 1: end of the year. That's something they should be thinking
- 0:25Speaker 1: about right now, isn't it right.
- 0:26Speaker 2: That's why I was like today, let's talk about that
- 0:28Speaker 2: some of who might not even realize what their insurance covers.
- 0:31Speaker 2: You know, say you had a big procedure or a
- 0:33Speaker 2: baby or something big this year that you paid a
- 0:35Speaker 2: lot into your insurance, you might actually be able to
- 0:37Speaker 2: get chiropractic care without having to pay anything. If your
- 0:40Speaker 2: deductible auto pocket costs are completely you know, you already
- 0:44Speaker 2: paid all of that, then a lot of times your
- 0:46Speaker 2: chiro care is all covered by that. So it's a
- 0:49Speaker 2: really good opportunity to check your insurance benefits right now.
- 0:52Speaker 2: If you've been thinking about going to a chiropractor, this
- 0:54Speaker 2: is a really good time to get started because typically
- 0:57Speaker 2: when you first come in it might be a couple
- 0:58Speaker 2: of times a week the first couple of weeks, and
- 1:00Speaker 2: if your insurance isn't picking all that up, it can
- 1:01Speaker 2: get a little expensive right away.
- 1:03Speaker 1: So that's where it's really.
- 1:04Speaker 2: Nice as time here to start thinking about that. And
- 1:07Speaker 2: plus with like the holiday craziness and rushing around, good
- 1:10Speaker 2: to have your health problems kind of out of the
- 1:13Speaker 2: way and settle down so you can enjoy the holidays
- 1:16Speaker 2: a little bit better.
- 1:17Speaker 1: And you were telling me ahead of time, there's different things,
- 1:19Speaker 1: because there's like HSA, and you had a whole big
- 1:22Speaker 1: long list. I just said, OK, I'll just take your
- 1:24Speaker 1: word for it, but what are these things?
- 1:25Speaker 2: Yeah, so a lot of people have like an FSSA
- 1:28Speaker 2: or does HSA. So at HSA is a health savings
- 1:31Speaker 2: account and hsas can roll over year to years, So
- 1:34Speaker 2: that's something look into your benefits. Do you need to
- 1:37Speaker 2: use like that health savings account up by the end
- 1:39Speaker 2: of the year. So January one, it's going back to zero.
- 1:43Speaker 2: If you don't use it. So again that's another good thing,
- 1:45Speaker 2: and that.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Just depends on your particular HSA.
- 1:47Speaker 2: Right, there's an FSA, which that's typically kind of the
- 1:49Speaker 2: one that you need to use by the end of
- 1:51Speaker 2: the year.
- 1:52Speaker 1: What does that one stand for?
- 1:53Speaker 2: I don't remember what the F part stands for, don't
- 1:55Speaker 2: I don't. I don't have an FSA, so that's why
- 1:57Speaker 2: I don't necessarily pay attention to that one.
- 1:58Speaker 1: But it's okay, well, I don't know. I didn't even
- 2:00Speaker 1: know what I don't know how to spell it.
- 2:02Speaker 2: So but they're basically like a health savings account that
- 2:05Speaker 2: you pay into every pay period and then when you
- 2:08Speaker 2: go to the doctor's office you can use that and
- 2:10Speaker 2: that covers like your copays or if you're paying on
- 2:12Speaker 2: a pocket you can use that money that's already been
- 2:15Speaker 2: set aside for your health care costs.
- 2:18Speaker 1: I wonder if that one's like a flexible savings account.
- 2:21Speaker 1: You think that might be the f I.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Would think so, But I know, like the fessays are
- 2:25Speaker 2: usually the ones that you.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Have to use by the end of the year, so
- 2:27Speaker 1: that's it's inflexible.
- 2:29Speaker 2: So that's what I'm not sure.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Hey, this is John just making things up over here.
- 2:32Speaker 1: I have no idea. And then there's people who have
- 2:34Speaker 1: other kinds of insurance, and some of those again, if
- 2:36Speaker 1: they've already had some claims this year, and they maybe
- 2:39Speaker 1: had some procedure done and they've met all of their things,
- 2:42Speaker 1: it's like free money between now and the end of
- 2:44Speaker 1: the year for them in a sense, isn't it right.
- 2:45Speaker 2: This you know you'll notice, like maybe for going to
- 2:47Speaker 2: the doctor's office from your yearly checkups, like wait times
- 2:50Speaker 2: are longer and maybe.
- 2:51Speaker 1: They're booked out.
- 2:52Speaker 2: That's because you know, people are using their benefits because
- 2:55Speaker 2: they've used everything else for the year, so they're able
- 2:57Speaker 2: to get in and get that stuff done on a
- 2:59Speaker 2: relatively low amount.
- 3:00Speaker 1: And this would be a really good time if somebody's
- 3:02Speaker 1: going I've been thinking about chiropractic, but I haven't added
- 3:04Speaker 1: that to my health plan yet. Now would be a
- 3:06Speaker 1: great time because you could get a lot of the
- 3:08Speaker 1: early things. That's what we were kind of talking about.
- 3:10Speaker 1: You know, you first come here, going through and getting
- 3:12Speaker 1: the X rays, all this stuff, all of that stuff done, well,
- 3:14Speaker 1: it's kind of covered. I mean, it's just a no brainer.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Why not do that?
- 3:18Speaker 2: A lot of it is time and money of course
- 3:21Speaker 2: is a big factor to that. You know, we're not
- 3:23Speaker 2: typically booked weeks out. We can usually get people in
- 3:26Speaker 2: the same week, so there's really kind of a low
- 3:28Speaker 2: risk to getting started meeting with us, sitting around talking
- 3:32Speaker 2: about your problems, your health goals, and we can make
- 3:35Speaker 2: a plan of what's it going to take, you know,
- 3:37Speaker 2: being able to use your insurance benefits that you have,
- 3:40Speaker 2: because you don't want to have those go to waste.
- 3:41Speaker 1: Exactly if somebody listening has gone, Okay, I know I
- 3:44Speaker 1: do have some sort of thing I got to look
- 3:45Speaker 1: into that. What is the best way for them to
- 3:47Speaker 1: connect with you to see if they can kind of
- 3:49Speaker 1: just pull us all together.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Yeah, and if you don't know what to look for
- 3:52Speaker 2: with your insurance, we do a benefits check during your
- 3:55Speaker 2: first day appointment. So we're going to call your insurance
- 3:57Speaker 2: and we're going to talk to them about these are
- 3:59Speaker 2: the procedures, the things that we're going to be doing.
- 4:01Speaker 2: What's it going to cost, what's their insurance going to cover,
- 4:03Speaker 2: So we can do all that for you if you're
- 4:05Speaker 2: not sure how to look that stuff up.
- 4:06Speaker 1: So the good news is I don't need to know anything.
- 4:09Speaker 2: It's good to have somewhat of an idea. But if
- 4:11Speaker 2: you have no idea, that's okay, here come the add on.
- 4:13Speaker 2: We will we will help you and educate you a
- 4:15Speaker 2: little bit more about what your insurance is going to cover.
- 4:17Speaker 1: See, anytime somebody asked me a question, I just look
- 4:20Speaker 1: at Heidi, I'm like, what do we what do we have?
- 4:21Speaker 1: What's going on? What's this?
- 4:22Speaker 2: You talk to her?
- 4:23Speaker 1: She's a smart one. What's the best way for somebody
- 4:25Speaker 1: to connect with you at Balanced Life Chiropractic.
