- 0:05Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:09access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing
- 0:12genuine. Issues.
- 0:13Brought to you by The Hypnotherapist, demanded by
- 0:16celebrities, CEOs and even royalty, Adam Cox.
- 0:20These recordings took place live from Adam's clinic in London's
- 0:24world famous Harley Street. So get yourself comfortable and
- 0:31enjoy today's episode of The Hypnotist.
- 0:39Hi, it's Adam here now. One of the things that I love to
- 0:42do is use metaphor. And when I first became a
- 0:46hypnotherapist, I did lots of weight loss hypnotherapy to help
- 0:52people lose weight. And one of the things that was
- 0:54very popular back then, about 12 years ago, was a virtual gastric
- 0:58band. And it's almost like a virtual
- 1:01version of bariatric surgery. And the actual surgery has this
- 1:05kind of band around the stomach, which makes it smaller, which
- 1:08reduces appetite because the stomach is physically smaller.
- 1:12The virtual gastric band is like taking clients on a hypnotic
- 1:15version of that. So they imagine having the
- 1:17surgery, not actually having the surgery, but imagining it, and
- 1:21then acting as if their stomach is smaller.
- 1:23And that actually works for a lot of people because their body
- 1:27acts in accordance as if that belief is true.
- 1:30Now, I've heard a lot over the last two years about different
- 1:35forms of ketamine therapy. Now, when I was growing up,
- 1:39ketamine was described as a horse tranquilizer.
- 1:42It's a recreational drug and all of those kind of things.
- 1:46But more recently, there's been a lot more research in the
- 1:49medical usage of ketamine linked to neuroplasticity.
- 1:54What this hypnosis session does is it creates a virtual ketamine
- 1:59infusion therapy. So there is no ketamine
- 2:02involved. It is the going through the
- 2:04process and the client that I was working with was
- 2:08experiencing ketamine infusion therapy.
- 2:11They knew the process. They knew what it was like to
- 2:13have the catheter in their arm and the drip going in and the
- 2:16duration and their preparation and their intentions they would
- 2:19set. And what this did for them is it
- 2:22gave them a virtual experience to work alongside their actual
- 2:27ketamine infusion therapy. But the nature of this is that
- 2:31whether you've had ketamine before or you haven't, you could
- 2:35treat it like a hypnotic version of that.
- 2:38Now with those kind of things, it's very, very good to be
- 2:41intentional. And I would say what do you want
- 2:45the ketamine infusion therapy to do for you?
- 2:48For some people, they want it to help with a particular issue.
- 2:51And that might be an autoimmune issue.
- 2:53It might be some form of chronic fatigue.
- 2:57It might be there is depression and and things like that.
- 3:01Now this is hypnosis. This is not medical stuff.
- 3:05I'm not recommending ketamine therapy.
- 3:08What I would say is if ketamine infusion therapy or any ketamine
- 3:11therapy is of interest, the way to go about that is to do your
- 3:15research online, then have a conversation with your doctor or
- 3:18medical practitioner. What this is, is a hypnotic
- 3:22metaphor and if you've wondered what the process might be like,
- 3:27well then whether you've had it or haven't had it, this gives
- 3:30you a virtual experience and it is hypnosis.
- 3:34Now the suggestions link to the idea of being intentional and
- 3:38having changes, and for this client, it was about healing and
- 3:42having more energy and clarity. It may be different for you, so
- 3:46let me know in the comments whether you like this kind of
- 3:48virtual, let's say, medical treatments like the bariatric
- 3:52surgery and this infusion therapy.
- 3:53If you do, I'll do more of it, but equally, if you don't, let
- 3:55me know as well. I always appreciate the
- 3:57feedback. For now though, I want you to
- 3:59find a quiet, comfortable place, the kind of place where you're
- 4:02not going to be distracted or disturbed and just relax and
- 4:06enjoy the session. Take a deep breath in, and as
- 4:45you breathe in, breathe in and slow, long, relaxing breath.
- 4:57And as you exhale, feel that wonderful feeling of release, as
- 5:10if you're able to let go of any stress, any worries, any
- 5:19tension, where each breath takes you deeper and deeper.
- 5:35Relaxed. Now find that rhythm of your
- 5:43breathing, breathing in for longer, and as you exhale, allow
- 5:53that outward breath to carry on for longer than it normally
- 5:56would, so that each breath takes you deeper and deeper.
- 6:06Relaxed, and the more relaxed you feel, the deeper you
- 6:12breathe. And the deeper you breathe, the
- 6:17more you release. And as your body relaxes, your
- 6:23imagination awakens. And I wonder if you can imagine
- 6:31walking on a particular route toward a clinic, and maybe it's
- 6:42a clinic you've been to before, or maybe it's a clinic that your
- 6:49imagination would like you to go to.
- 6:54But I want you to imagine what it would feel like to walk the
- 7:02rhythm of your steps now. You breathe.
- 7:09When you walk the freshness, coolness or warmth in the air,
- 7:19you get the sense that there's no rush, no hurry, that you've
- 7:24timed this well. There is an appointment at the
- 7:29clinic and you have plenty of time to walk there at your own
- 7:39pace. Then maybe you're walking alone,
- 7:46or maybe there's a companion walking alongside you.
- 7:51Your imagination will decide what is true for you right now,
- 7:58but I want you to imagine you're carrying a rucksack filled with
- 8:06wonderful things to help enhance an upcoming experience.
- 8:14This rucksack does not feel like a burden.
- 8:19It feels like it's filled with useful things to take a good
- 8:27experience and make it better. Perhaps you can even picture the
- 8:35things inside the rucksack. Objects of warmth, of comfort,
- 8:45of intentional care. And each step toward that clinic
- 8:56is a step away from effort and a step towards support.
- 9:05And I want you to feel that your body already knows this walk,
- 9:12and your body associates this direction with healing, with
- 9:20intention, with possibility. And as you walk, imagine your
- 9:40nervous system settling down, calming even before you arrive
- 9:49at that clinic. And then imagine arriving at the
- 9:55clinic and perhaps outside, someone that you care for and
- 10:03cares for you is waiting for you.
- 10:05Or maybe they're already inside in the waiting room.
- 10:16I want you to imagine that as you walk through the doors of
- 10:22that clinic, it feels like you're passing a threshold,
- 10:28moving from intending to be somewhere to being at that very
- 10:37place. So imagine that you're now in
- 10:42the waiting room. Imagine sitting down, perhaps.
- 10:49Imagine drinking a warm cup of tea.
- 10:57Perhaps you can imagine the sensation of the warmth of the
- 11:03tea in that cup in your hands, and feel that it's grounding,
- 11:09comforting, that your companion is nearby and their presence is
- 11:17familiar, supportive, unforced. And notice how you don't need to
- 11:27explain anything. Just being here in the clinic
- 11:34together is enough. And sometimes in life and in the
- 11:44imagination, time can become distorted.
- 11:51Time can feel like it's slowing or speeding up and your body
- 11:56understands, but nothing is demanded of you here.
- 12:03You're just waiting, Waiting to move forward.
- 12:12And as you sit, feel that nervous system dropping down to
- 12:18another level. That's it.
- 12:23And maybe breathing slows down or relaxation is enhanced.
- 12:31But give permission to let go, to really relax.
- 12:38You are safe and supported here. And imagine a doctor arrives.
- 12:49Maybe it's a familiar face, or maybe someone new, but they are
- 12:54calm, competent, unhurried. And imagine they lead you
- 13:02through long corridors. There's the sound of footsteps,
- 13:07the rhythm of movement. And imagine every door in that
- 13:12corridor represents new possibilities, but you're
- 13:19choosing to be led by the Doctor to a specific room.
- 13:27The Doctor has the keys. And imagine standing there in
- 13:33front of the door with the Doctor and your companion.
- 13:38And as I count down from 5 to 1, you will imagine the Doctor
- 13:45unlocking the door, opening the door, and walking through the
- 13:49door. And you will follow 5.
- 13:54Hear the sound of the key going into the lock 4.
- 14:01The key is turned and the lock is opened three.
- 14:06The handle is turned and the door is open 2.
- 14:12You all walk. Through the door and 1:00 the
- 14:16door is closed behind you. The door is open because you are
- 14:23wanted and expected. You belong here in this room,
- 14:32and all three of you together in that room connect to a sense of
- 14:41optimism and positivity there in the treatment room.
- 14:55And imagine talking briefly about progress and dosage,
- 15:00connecting to a real sense of reassurance.
- 15:06And the doctor's words carry confidence that this session
- 15:12will go well. And when the doctor leaves to
- 15:17prepare, you and your companion begin the ritual.
- 15:27And this is where something important happens.
- 15:32Through intention. You're not just preparing for
- 15:38treatment, you are creating a ceremony.
- 15:49Picture then blue fitness mat, the winter coat, the heated
- 15:57blanket and then that cozy blanket with its texture,
- 16:04colour, fabric, pillows placed with care, one for your head and
- 16:16one later that will gently relax over your eyes.
- 16:25And maybe you notice a particular smell from a
- 16:31particular wood pine, like grounded, ancient, a particular
- 16:40smell that lets you know that you are safe.
- 16:46You felt this way before, but from this point onwards this
- 16:51smell will activate feelings of safety.
- 16:57You are safe and notice how warmth gathers around you.
- 17:06Hot water bottles, any coldness in hands or feet are just
- 17:15temporary, letting you know that a transition will take place in
- 17:23temperature as well in the neural plasticity of your brain.
- 17:31Cold won't be here for long because you have built a
- 17:37ceremonial nest, and in doing so your unconscious receives a
- 17:47clear message that this is a place of safety, learning, and
- 17:58wonderful changes. Imagine hearing the doctor
- 18:13return, and imagine the position of the doctor in relation to
- 18:20you. Perhaps there, close to your
- 18:23feet, maybe your companion, closer to your head.
- 18:30You feel supported, connected. Maybe you feel the area on your
- 18:38arm being cleaned. Maybe the smell, the smell of
- 18:47those swabs. Making sure that that area on
- 18:55that vein is clean, you are safe.
- 19:04Maybe there is a coolness on that area.
- 19:10Positive intention. This is professional.
- 19:14Imagine the vein is chosen, and imagine the catheter is
- 19:23inserted, secure, gently. You knew it would happen because
- 19:32you were told. And as you look up, notice the
- 19:39glass bottle clear, transparent, and see the tube descending all
- 19:49the way down into your arm. Gravity doing the work.
- 19:58No force, no rush. And that flow regulator reminds
- 20:04you that this can always be adjusted, slow down or flow
- 20:14increased. But just before the trip begins,
- 20:21you set an intention. And perhaps that intention is
- 20:33linked to a thought for the future, or connected to a
- 20:40message, a memory, a person, a feeling that connects you to
- 20:47something good, something stable, something real,
- 20:57something human. And imagine the doctor starts
- 21:06the drip by adjusting that flow regulator.
- 21:11And perhaps for the next 20 to 30 minutes, the doctor is aware
- 21:22of what's happening but is doing their thing just as you do
- 21:29yours. Imagine perhaps adjusting
- 21:37headphones, placing A scented pillow over your eyes, adjusting
- 21:49a blanket. Warmth surrounds you.
- 21:55Music begins. Music and frequencies of Theta
- 22:03rhythms and slow breathing. And now you simply notice what
- 22:14you notice. Nothing to analyse and nothing
- 22:20to control. And you may become aware of
- 22:25sensations, perhaps the heaviness of your tongue, a
- 22:33drifting sensation, changes in perception of weight and
- 22:40lightness, of movement, balance and equilibrium.
- 22:48Curiosity replaces concern, and underneath it all is a constant
- 23:02feeling, a signal that you can tell yourself, now I am safe,
- 23:13and you will already accept that to be true.
- 23:17And so your mind becomes more flexible, requiring less effort.
- 23:24But this is a curious learning state and as you rest here, feel
- 23:37that your mind resonates with certain ideas, beliefs and ways
- 23:46of thinking. That this treatment is enhancing
- 23:56your healing journey. That you are moving towards a
- 24:04good life. That your neural pathways are
- 24:10willing and able to change, still connected to that
- 24:17foundation. That you are safe and supported,
- 24:27That you know you can trust the people around you and the
- 24:32process. But you might also realise just
- 24:40how much you are connected to positive intentions, ideas and
- 24:48frequencies that your mind can learn and relearn.
- 24:57Whatever you consciously or unconsciously choose, because
- 25:04your unconscious already knows what changes are needed.
- 25:12Give permission for your unconscious to make whatever
- 25:19tune changes your unconscious chooses to enhance that ability
- 25:26to manifest that good life. But you can be proud of your
- 25:32progress and also just how tenacious you are.
- 25:41Many would have accepted an idea, a false idea, that nothing
- 25:49can be done, nothing can be tried.
- 25:50But not you. This right now is evidence of
- 25:59your resolve, that tenacious determination to find a way to
- 26:10open a previously locked door. And whatever happens, you will
- 26:19be OK. And these are not affirmations,
- 26:28they are recognitions. Your system already knows them
- 26:35to be true. These are just reminders, and
- 26:44sometimes under the influence of something that enhances that
- 26:50neural plasticity. An idea, a thought, an emotional
- 26:59perception may arise because your unconscious needs to bring
- 27:08something from the unconscious into the conscious.
- 27:15Maybe it's an insight, an epiphany, a glimpse of a future,
- 27:22like a premonition. Allow whatever your mind wants
- 27:27to show you. No judgement, pure curiosity.
- 27:42And then gradually imagine that last container.
- 27:53The infusion completes. Gravity has done its job.
- 28:01Imagine that the catheter is removed.
- 28:06No more tube, nothing in your arm.
- 28:10The area is tended to. Your eyes are open.
- 28:20You adjust your body and imagine warm tears poured and feel the
- 28:34weight of that tea cup in your hand, the sensation in your
- 28:40mouth as you feel the infusions continuing to impact your mind.
- 28:51Body sensations. And then imagine writing in your
- 28:57journal, not to capture everything, but just to echo and
- 29:12reaffirm those firing neurons, words, colours, fragments.
- 29:22Write them there, in that colourful book.
- 29:26And then maybe you articulate impressions or experiences with
- 29:30your companion and there is a lightness now, a subtle
- 29:38optimism. Not excitement, but something
- 29:43steadier, something truer. And you remain in the room.
- 29:58Maybe 30 more minutes, nothing else required.
- 30:03Your nervous system continues integrating.
- 30:08Connections settle, positive connections solidify.
- 30:14And when it's time, imagine packing your things carefully.
- 30:23The blanket, the tea, headphones, hot water bottles
- 30:31all back in the rucksack, shoes on, coat on.
- 30:39And as you leave the clinic, I want you to feel that this was
- 30:45useful, this was beneficial. This was meaningful, and without
- 30:54forcing it, you begin unconsciously, unprompted, to
- 31:02imagine a future. Not dramatic and certainly not
- 31:08perfect, but a future of progress, a desirable future, a
- 31:18good life possible. And now, gently, on that journey
- 31:32back to your home, allow your mind to take you back to the
- 31:40here and the now. As you take a deep breath in
- 31:44through your nose and out through your nose.
- 31:50Just wiggle your fingers and wiggle your toes.
- 31:52Because very soon I will count from 1:00 to 10:00 to awaken
- 31:56you. And you will awaken feeling like
- 32:03you've experienced something useful, beneficial, and
- 32:13meaningful. Starting to count. 123 Waking up
- 32:19456 More alert 7-8 Open your eyes, open your eyes. 910 Wide
