- 0:32Speaker 1: We're presented by Bett three sixty five professional better Simon Hunter. Hello, soymon,
- 0:41Speaker 1: Hello Chad?
- 0:42Speaker 2: How you doing? My guy?
- 0:43Speaker 1: My brother? You know what I can't wait for? NFL
- 0:47Speaker 1: season will start and you and I will be talking
- 0:51Speaker 1: every single mother, love and day. We're gonna have a
- 0:56Speaker 1: podcast on Sunday nights that is live as the the
- 1:00Speaker 1: late afternoon games and as first lines are coming up,
- 1:04Speaker 1: reviewing our pain points. We'll have a podcast on Tuesday
- 1:08Speaker 1: that's live. We'll have a podcast on Thursday that's live.
- 1:11Speaker 1: We'll have a show on Sunday that's live. We'll probably
- 1:14Speaker 1: have a show on Wednesday. I'll get you every single
- 1:18Speaker 1: day instead of you know, a couple Poppins during the
- 1:23Speaker 1: week where I get to see your beautiful face.
- 1:25Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm just trying to keep busy chat. I literally
- 1:27Speaker 2: went and flew to go see a volcano last week
- 1:30Speaker 2: just to keep busy. I'm like, I'm exploring I'm also like,
- 1:34Speaker 2: how can I just do something to keep me not
- 1:36Speaker 2: thinking about football? Because I can't stop betting. I can't
- 1:39Speaker 2: stop betting Rams futures. I can't stop betting Bears futures,
- 1:42Speaker 2: Denver Bronco futures chat. It's bad. So I'm trying to
- 1:46Speaker 2: stay busy seeing volcanoes, maybe going to Japan in a
- 1:50Speaker 2: couple of weeks. It's been fun, but I can't wait
- 1:54Speaker 2: for football.
- 1:55Speaker 1: I did see your volcano post in your stories.
- 2:01Speaker 2: Yeah it was crazy people. Somebody asked him what it
- 2:04Speaker 2: was like, and I try to explain him. It's like
- 2:05Speaker 2: seeing a million fireworks at once. It's really I don't
- 2:10Speaker 2: even know. I was probably half a mile away and
- 2:14Speaker 2: I could feel the heat. I mean, it's it's that
- 2:16Speaker 2: intense volcano. So my brother, unfortunately, he's flying in tomorrow,
- 2:23Speaker 2: and I promised when we go see the volcano, guess
- 2:25Speaker 2: what stops spewing lava yesterday. Yeah, so I feel terrible.
- 2:30Speaker 2: He's flying all the way out to Hawaiian will still
- 2:32Speaker 2: have a good time, but he's not going to check
- 2:35Speaker 2: it off his bucket list because the volcano has stopped
- 2:38Speaker 2: shooting out lava.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Soon enough, Simon, it'll be football season. Thank god, We'll
- 2:44Speaker 1: be betting our mother loving faces off. Until then, we
- 2:50Speaker 1: will be betting aggressively on the NBA Draft, which is
- 2:55Speaker 1: happening this week. It's happened in Thursday night from Barclays

- 3:21Speaker 1: overall pick for the Spurs, and some great rookie of

- 5:15Speaker 1: of a piece that posted yesterday in the Action Network
- 5:19Speaker 1: AAP and on Actionnetwork dot com. Uh, I mean practical
- 5:26Speaker 1: violence on Victor wembin Yama.
- 5:32Speaker 3: So yeah, Look, this guy is the the most hyped
- 5:36Speaker 3: NBA prospect that we have seen, at least since Lebron James.
- 5:40Speaker 3: Maybe you've heard of Lebron maybe ever like we have.
- 5:44Speaker 3: We have the wild hype out here. We've got like,
- 5:47Speaker 3: here's some of the hype that we're seeing. We've got
- 5:50Speaker 3: Mike Schmidz calls Wemyama the best prospect he's ever evaluated.
- 5:54Speaker 3: This is his life's work. Is he evaluating prospects? Women
- 5:58Speaker 3: now number one all time? We got woj calls lemen
- 6:02Speaker 3: Yama the greatest prospect in the history of team sports.
- 6:07Speaker 1: Let me just say one thing. He said that. He
- 6:11Speaker 1: said that the night of the draft Lotter, he was
- 6:13Speaker 1: on set with Richard Jefferson and Malika, and he said this,
- 6:19Speaker 1: and it was such hyperbole and it was so over
- 6:23Speaker 1: the top. I swear to God, I saw Richard Jefferson
- 6:25Speaker 1: just shaking his head like I cannot believe this guy's
- 6:27Speaker 1: saying this right now.
- 6:29Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean the hyperbole, the hyperbole is ridiculous. But
- 6:33Speaker 3: then you watch Lemen Yama play and you're like, oh
- 6:36Speaker 3: my gosh, what am I watching right now? We have
- 6:38Speaker 3: created like a two K player and then made him
- 6:42Speaker 3: an actual, real life player. He's seven foot four. He
- 6:45Speaker 3: has an eight foot wingspan. Like picture two park benches
- 6:49Speaker 3: right next to each other. This guy just reaches his
- 6:52Speaker 3: hands out and touches the ends of both park benches.
- 6:54Speaker 3: That's the wingspan we have. He's a ten foot standing reach.
- 6:58Speaker 3: That means flat foot under the basket. Just touch the ram,
- 7:02Speaker 3: no problem, just touch the ram. I cand do that
- 7:04Speaker 3: out here like Ridigbert, the guy that miam Minnesota Timbrels
- 7:08Speaker 3: traded away like a thousand picks and all their players
- 7:10Speaker 3: for last year five inches shorter standing reach. This is
- 7:14Speaker 3: the center like many time Defensive Player of the Year women,
- 7:18Speaker 3: Yama's five inches taller standing reach, but on offense, he
- 7:23Speaker 3: looks like Kevin Durant. We have this like seven foot
- 7:26Speaker 3: four dude dribbling between his legs, bring the ball up
- 7:30Speaker 3: the court, taking step back jumpers, taking one legged step
- 7:34Speaker 3: back threes. Like what are we watching? It's impossible not
- 7:38Speaker 3: to see that happen and be like, I don't know
- 7:40Speaker 3: what this player is. He could be, Woj said, And
- 7:42Speaker 3: I think that same quote that he thinks, he said,
- 7:45Speaker 3: executives tell him three years from now that Wemenyama will
- 7:49Speaker 3: be the best offensive and defensive player in the entire
- 7:53Speaker 3: league at that point. So this is the guy going
- 7:56Speaker 3: number one minus one hundred thousand right now to go
- 8:00Speaker 3: number one to the Spurs. So we know that that's
- 8:02Speaker 3: different than a usual draft. But that's where we start
- 8:04Speaker 3: with things. For sure, I.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Love everything about the NBA draft, especially the stupid hype.
- 8:09Speaker 2: That's that's the best part. I mean, what was it
- 8:12Speaker 2: three four years ago, Zion was the best prospect ever
- 8:16Speaker 2: and it turns out he's addicted to porn stars. But
- 8:18Speaker 2: I don't think Victor's gonna be the same way. He
- 8:20Speaker 2: seems like he's more adult like. But you know, it's
- 8:23Speaker 2: just this is the this is the beast that the
- 8:25Speaker 2: NBA is right. The NBA is all about the new toy.
- 8:28Speaker 2: It's about the next guy, and everyone's been waiting for
- 8:31Speaker 2: that Lebron replacement. I just I just don't see it
- 8:35Speaker 2: here this kid. I get the hype and I get
- 8:37Speaker 2: the love, but especially after reading your article, there's just
- 8:41Speaker 2: a lot of little red flag with him. Other than
- 8:43Speaker 2: the fact that this guy looks like he weighs one
- 8:45Speaker 2: hundred pounds soaking wet. Again, he could put on the
- 8:48Speaker 2: body weight, but we saw Durant adjusted to it, right.
- 8:51Speaker 2: Durant never got Jack, never got big. He adjusted to
- 8:54Speaker 2: the league and made his body perfect for what the
- 8:56Speaker 2: league is, which is he's long, he's lean, but he
- 8:59Speaker 2: isn't people put weight into him, right. I think that's
- 9:02Speaker 2: something Victor's got to learn to play with. So I
- 9:05Speaker 2: love everything you're saying right now. It's also one of
- 9:07Speaker 2: those where I feel like we're on the same page
- 9:09Speaker 2: of fade this kid, Like this is one of these
- 9:12Speaker 2: things we have to kind of fade him. We don't
- 9:13Speaker 2: want to fade him, right, but we kind of have to,
- 9:16Speaker 2: just because this is like the craziest hypever. I just
- 9:18Speaker 2: want to get your level of have you ever remember
- 9:21Speaker 2: seeing a player hyped like this. I mean again, I
- 9:23Speaker 2: said the Zion thing. Zion was kind of like a
- 9:26Speaker 2: mystical thing, right, it was like this guy dominated college
- 9:29Speaker 2: at Duke, busted out of his shoe. I've been hearing
- 9:32Speaker 2: about Victor for man. It might be three years now,
- 9:36Speaker 2: four years, Like I remember seeing his little film playing
- 9:39Speaker 2: in France or maybe Spain when he was like, I
- 9:41Speaker 2: don't know, sixteen fifteen. Is this like the last of
- 9:46Speaker 2: this dying Reid?
- 9:46Speaker 1: Right?
- 9:46Speaker 2: Is this the last of these hyped European players or
- 9:50Speaker 2: is this about to be a pipeline thing where we
- 9:52Speaker 2: just see it year after year there's these great players
- 9:54Speaker 2: going from Europe.
- 9:55Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, look, we have right now NBA champion
- 9:59Speaker 3: Nikola Jokic out of Serbia. Everyone wants Jokic. Right now,
- 10:02Speaker 3: we have NBA champion Gianni Sanda Dea Kumpo. We have
- 10:06Speaker 3: NBA MVP Joel Embiid, like all the faces of the
- 10:10Speaker 3: NBA right now, MVPs champions and Joel Embiid, all of
- 10:15Speaker 3: them are these euro guys that we want to get.
- 10:18Speaker 3: Luka Doncic, euro player from Slovenia probably the next one
- 10:22Speaker 3: on that list at some point and so I think
- 10:25Speaker 3: that has to be helping right now. It's really interesting
- 10:28Speaker 3: to me. A year ago in the NBA draft, we
- 10:31Speaker 3: had a guy named Chet and he was this skinny
- 10:34Speaker 3: dude out of Gonzaga. Tall, skinny guy, blocked a lot
- 10:37Speaker 3: of shots, could dribble, bring it up the court, shoot threes,
- 10:41Speaker 3: and everyone was like, I don't know, man, white, skinny
- 10:44Speaker 3: dude from Minnesota named Chet doesn't feel like an NBA
- 10:47Speaker 3: star to me. Now we got Mistique, we got Victor
- 10:50Speaker 3: Wembinyama from France, and we love our euro players. Like
- 10:54Speaker 3: I think, if this was like a few years ago
- 10:56Speaker 3: and we didn't have the Janis and Jokic and all
- 10:58Speaker 3: the stuff that's been happening already, I feel like this
- 11:01Speaker 3: would be in a different spot. So I think that's
- 11:03Speaker 3: playing into the hype. The mystery actually is part of
- 11:06Speaker 3: the intrigue right now. It's hard to look. My article
- 11:11Speaker 3: is called Confessions of a Victor Woman. I'm a skeptic,
- 11:13Speaker 3: so I'm the foremost skeptic here. As the skeptic in
- 11:18Speaker 3: my article. Things I compare him to people I compare
- 11:21Speaker 3: him to are evolutionary. Kevin Garnett my favorite player of
- 11:25Speaker 3: all time in my Twitter avatar Kevin Garnett top twenty
- 11:29Speaker 3: player of all time. In my opinion, I compare him
- 11:31Speaker 3: to evolutionary Bill Russell, who is like the greatest winner
- 11:35Speaker 3: in NBA history, only I think, like twelve and one
- 11:38Speaker 3: in the NBA Finals. I'm the skeptic, and these are
- 11:41Speaker 3: the comps I have to come up with. Are these
- 11:44Speaker 3: sort of guys. So I think, to me, it's less
- 11:47Speaker 3: fade Victor. It's more fade the hype, which is a
- 11:50Speaker 3: little bit more nuanced in that way. But I think,
- 11:53Speaker 3: to me, the way to fade the hype in the
- 11:55Speaker 3: immedia future is you can better right now in Rookie
- 11:58Speaker 3: of the Year. And I think Victor, even if he
- 12:01Speaker 3: is all the things we expect to be, you talked
- 12:03Speaker 3: about the size, the thin frame, that's gonna take some time,
- 12:07Speaker 3: right It's gonna take some time to add muscle, NBA strength,
- 12:11Speaker 3: find the game, find the role, get the right guys
- 12:13Speaker 3: around him. You're gonna need some strength around him. You're
- 12:16Speaker 3: gonna need the right guys to get him the ball.
- 12:18Speaker 3: And I think that he's not necessarily gonna like run
- 12:20Speaker 3: point on the offense, so you need to feed him
- 12:23Speaker 3: the right path, get the right shots up. Scoot Henderson,
- 12:26Speaker 3: guy that's gonna go sacond or third in the draft.
- 12:28Speaker 3: Point guard. He is gonna have the ball in his hands.
- 12:32Speaker 3: He has been playing in G League for two years already,
- 12:35Speaker 3: so he's been playing pro ball, running a professional offense already,
- 12:39Speaker 3: putting up seventeen points, five boards, seven assists. He's a
- 12:43Speaker 3: guy that's ready to come in and in many other
- 12:46Speaker 3: drafts where we didn't have women, Yama who absolutely should
- 12:49Speaker 3: be number one. Despite my skepticism, you gotta take him
- 12:52Speaker 3: number one. That's clear. In many other drafts, Scoot Henderson
- 12:56Speaker 3: would be the number one pick. So I think Scoot
- 12:58Speaker 3: comes in. We don't quite I know what team he's
- 13:01Speaker 3: going to be on yet, but I think he's going
- 13:03Speaker 3: to be the guy that wins Rookie of the Year.
- 13:05Speaker 3: He's gonna put up the numbers. Rookie of the Year
- 13:07Speaker 3: is not about advanced stats and defense and winning. Like
- 13:12Speaker 3: my research is just basically says, take the guy out
- 13:15Speaker 3: the numbers. I think Scoot's going to have the numbers.
- 13:17Speaker 3: I think Victor's numbers are going to come and go
- 13:19Speaker 3: a little bet he's going to have nights. We picked
- 13:21Speaker 3: up that injury in the first quarter and then they're like,
- 13:23Speaker 3: you know what, let's play it. Say if you're out
- 13:25Speaker 3: for tonight, or we got those two fouls in the
- 13:27Speaker 3: first minute or two because he's reaching over guys or
- 13:30Speaker 3: something like that. Scoot, I think is going to play
- 13:32Speaker 3: and get the numbers plus four point fifty at bet
- 13:35Speaker 3: three sixty five. I think it is a good number
- 13:37Speaker 3: for Scoot. That was my bet in the article. That's
- 13:40Speaker 3: the way I'm fading one Binyama right now.
- 13:42Speaker 1: So you made a really interesting point in your story
- 13:46Speaker 1: about the season long stat line these guys generally need
- 13:51Speaker 1: to have to win Rookie of the Year. This year,
- 13:55Speaker 1: there's an added twist because there's a sixty six game
- 13:58Speaker 1: minimum for people to be eligible for the awards. So
- 14:03Speaker 1: give me your take on why when bin Yama will
- 14:09Speaker 1: likely not put himself in a position to win Rookie
- 14:12Speaker 1: of the Year because of the game minimum and because
- 14:15Speaker 1: of the stat line. And I can tell people what
- 14:18Speaker 1: that stat line generally needs to be sure.
- 14:21Speaker 3: So fifteen points a game is kind of the bare minimum.
- 14:24Speaker 3: All about one of the last two decades of Orkies
- 14:27Speaker 3: of the Year, I've had at least fifteen average is
- 14:29Speaker 3: about eighteen points a game. There even more than points
- 14:32Speaker 3: points plus rebounds plus assess. If you bet NBA props,
- 14:36Speaker 3: you bet the PRA. You're familiar with that one points
- 14:39Speaker 3: rebounds and assess minimum Since Lebron, all but two rookies
- 14:42Speaker 3: of the year twenty five or higher points rebounds assess,
- 14:46Speaker 3: and more lately it's closer to thirty the last like
- 14:49Speaker 3: six guys are averaging over thirty points rebounds assess. So
- 14:52Speaker 3: Matt Moore and I over at Buckets Podcast argue about
- 14:55Speaker 3: this all the time. Really, you're gonna really bet rebounds.
- 14:58Speaker 3: That's why someone wins Rooki year. It doesn't win one
- 15:01Speaker 3: of these awards. Really, yes, because a lot of times
- 15:04Speaker 3: voters just look at numbers and they're like, oh well
- 15:07Speaker 3: this sixteen seven and two versus seventeen five and seven.
- 15:12Speaker 3: We all grew up reading baseball cards and looking at numbers,
- 15:15Speaker 3: like we know instinctively as a fan, which one of
- 15:17Speaker 3: those number lines stands out. Voting is subjective. This stuff
- 15:21Speaker 3: actually does matter to voters. So I think for women Yama,
- 15:26Speaker 3: he has right now, I believe, the highest usage rate
- 15:29Speaker 3: in European history. I don't think that is going to translate,
- 15:32Speaker 3: at least right away to the NBA usage means you're
- 15:35Speaker 3: the guy. You're the guy getting the shot up or
- 15:37Speaker 3: getting the assists, your guy at the ball. I think
- 15:39Speaker 3: it's going to be start at least as more of
- 15:41Speaker 3: a play finisher. Scoot is going to get those shots up.
- 15:45Speaker 3: I feel like, like I said, seventeen five and seven
- 15:48Speaker 3: for Scoot, that's the points, rebounds, assists, those were his
- 15:51Speaker 3: g League numbers, that those are not just made up,
- 15:53Speaker 3: that's literally his line as a professional the last two years.
- 15:56Speaker 3: Seventeen is right in line with those points per game,
- 16:00Speaker 3: Teen five and seven are right in line with points
- 16:02Speaker 3: rebounds assess. For Victor, we don't know his numbers in France,
- 16:07Speaker 3: don't necessarily know if they'll translate, so I think that
- 16:11Speaker 3: he ends up something more like sixteen seventeen points. Maybe
- 16:14Speaker 3: I wouldn't be shocked to see him not even hit
- 16:16Speaker 3: that fifteen points per game mark. The rebounds, he has
- 16:20Speaker 3: a very high center of gravity, as you can imagine,
- 16:23Speaker 3: as this giant man is very high hips he gets
- 16:26Speaker 3: pushed around a little bit. Again, he's to had some strength,
- 16:29Speaker 3: so he's gonna be tall in your rebounds, but he's
- 16:31Speaker 3: gonna get pushed off a little bit. I think he's
- 16:33Speaker 3: going to get too many assists. He's a nice passer,
- 16:35Speaker 3: but that's just not a role he's going to have.
- 16:37Speaker 3: So if he's at like sixteen seven and two, you're
- 16:40Speaker 3: barely getting to these marks that we're seeing over the years.
- 16:43Speaker 3: And maybe the hype is enough to make up for that.
- 16:46Speaker 3: But the other side of it is the Spurs really
- 16:49Speaker 3: betting against wenby Rookie of the Year for me is
- 16:52Speaker 3: a little bit betting on the Spurs. San Antonio has
- 16:56Speaker 3: been an awesome franchise for decades now. They've had David Robbin,
- 17:00Speaker 3: They've had uh, you know, Tim Duncan. The wild thing
- 17:04Speaker 3: is women Yana might not even be like a top two,
- 17:06Speaker 3: number one pick for the Spurs. These are the guys
- 17:09Speaker 3: he has to go against, right Like, that's no shame
- 17:11Speaker 3: to maybe have to measure up to David Robinson and
- 17:14Speaker 3: Tim Duncan. But I think the Spurs are gonna be
- 17:17Speaker 3: very careful with him. We saw last year Chat Holmgreen,
- 17:20Speaker 3: who I mentioned haven't played yet in the NBA. He
- 17:23Speaker 3: missed his entire rookie season. He picked up a foot injury.
- 17:27Speaker 3: They cautiously weighed out the whole year. The Spurs are
- 17:30Speaker 3: a smart, smart team. They're gonna play this the long game, right.
- 17:34Speaker 3: The Spurs don't really care if Victor Remenyama gets a
- 17:36Speaker 3: Rookie of the Year trophy. The Spurs want to win
- 17:38Speaker 3: five championships. Like Tim Duncan dead, They're gonna play two
- 17:42Speaker 3: decades with whom Mignana they hope. They don't need to
- 17:46Speaker 3: get him to that sixty sixty five whatever games. Uh.
- 17:50Speaker 3: I think he's gonna be a guy getting load management
- 17:53Speaker 3: right away, like the way that we see with Lebron,
- 17:56Speaker 3: with Kawhi some of the older players. I think we're
- 17:58Speaker 3: gonna sit Womenyama on back to backs every now and then,
- 18:01Speaker 3: and when he picks up that inevitable injury, not even
- 18:04Speaker 3: just because he's injury prone, just because everyone gets an injury.
- 18:07Speaker 3: I think they give him a couple of weeks. Take
- 18:09Speaker 3: your time, buddy, it's a long game. We're not going
- 18:12Speaker 3: to win the title this year. I don't even know
- 18:14Speaker 3: that they make the playoffs. Usually hype rookies like this, don't.
- 18:17Speaker 3: I think they take their time. They let him set
- 18:19Speaker 3: out a little bit. This is developmental, but all that
- 18:23Speaker 3: means you miss a few weeks with an injury, you
- 18:25Speaker 3: miss a few games for load management. Suddenly now you
- 18:29Speaker 3: might play fifty fifty five sixty games. You might not
- 18:32Speaker 3: even be eligible. Those rules are still a little bit
- 18:34Speaker 3: up in the air right now. But also voters can
- 18:37Speaker 3: see that as well, even if the rules don't qualify it.
- 18:40Speaker 3: If Scoot plays seventy and has better numbers and Victor
- 18:44Speaker 3: plays fifty or sixty games and the numbers don't stack up,
- 18:48Speaker 3: I just think Scoot could be the guy that comes
- 18:49Speaker 3: away as the winner there.
- 18:51Speaker 1: Chet home Ron is so interesting to me because it
- 18:54Speaker 1: has kind of been forgotten that he didn't play last year,
- 18:57Speaker 1: and because of that he is elible for Rookie of
- 19:01Speaker 1: the Year this year. Where would you stack his odds
- 19:06Speaker 1: in terms of value compared to Webben Yama, compared to
- 19:09Speaker 1: Scoot Henderson. I love Chet. The other day someone said, Hi,
- 19:13Speaker 1: who's the best player in the NBA? And he said,
- 19:15Speaker 1: in two months, it'll be me. Like, the guy is
- 19:17Speaker 1: not lacking, He's got a ton of swag. What do
- 19:21Speaker 1: you think of his numbers right now? I think he's
- 19:23Speaker 1: probably plus five hundred.
- 19:26Speaker 3: I think yeah, I think I've seen Chet even as
- 19:28Speaker 3: long as like six fifty seven hundred some books. It's
- 19:31Speaker 3: those three. Really, those are the three guys, which makes sense.
- 19:35Speaker 3: Another number from my article is basically just overwhelmingly top
- 19:39Speaker 3: three draft picks win Rookie of the Year. And even
- 19:42Speaker 3: among that, almost fifty percent of all the rookie of
- 19:45Speaker 3: the year in the last like two decades have been
- 19:47Speaker 3: the number one pick. Daw, we know who the best
- 19:49Speaker 3: player is. They go number one to a bad team
- 19:52Speaker 3: that puts them in. We saw last year Paula bon
- 19:55Speaker 3: Cairo number one pick one rookie of the year, chat
- 19:57Speaker 3: Holmgren win the top three last year, so he qualifies
- 20:01Speaker 3: under that. We have four top three picks this year
- 20:03Speaker 3: because of that. So I love chet the prospect. I
- 20:08Speaker 3: was very high on him. He's number one on my
- 20:09Speaker 3: board last year. I don't want any piece of chet
- 20:13Speaker 3: holm Grin for Rookie of the Year. Has nothing to
- 20:15Speaker 3: do with the fact that I like, nothing to do
- 20:18Speaker 3: with this prospect. It is all the things we said
- 20:21Speaker 3: about women Yama are true and truer of chet hoolm Grin.
- 20:25Speaker 3: The body is still going to take some time. Probably
- 20:27Speaker 3: a little better now than it was a year ago,
- 20:29Speaker 3: but it's going to take some time to get there.
- 20:31Speaker 3: He's definitely not a guy who's going to run point
- 20:33Speaker 3: or play with the ball in his hands. He's going
- 20:35Speaker 3: to be a play finisher. He's going to get some
- 20:37Speaker 3: of that foul trouble. He surely is going to get
- 20:41Speaker 3: load managed and miss some injury time. He just missed
- 20:44Speaker 3: an entire season. Okay, see another very smart patient organization.
- 20:49Speaker 3: So I don't think Chet is going to have the numbers.
- 20:53Speaker 3: When guys like me log into Basketball Reference and pull
- 20:56Speaker 3: up the bpms and vorps and schwarps and all the
- 20:58Speaker 3: advanced stats, I'm gonna be the one on the podcast
- 21:02Speaker 3: saying guys, Chet should be Rookie of the Year. Look
- 21:05Speaker 3: at the advanced metrics. He's amazing. Voters don't vote on
- 21:08Speaker 3: that stuff. Voters want numbers. That's what we've seen. So
- 21:12Speaker 3: I think Chat and Victor will be really good rookies.
- 21:15Speaker 3: I think Scoot Henderson will have numbers and be pretty
- 21:18Speaker 3: good and be Rookie of the Year.
- 21:21Speaker 2: Yeah, a lot of drama, A lot of questions ually
- 21:23Speaker 2: from our amp lists. Shout out to all our amp lists,
- 21:25Speaker 2: especially h Bone, big big fan of h Bone. What's
- 21:29Speaker 2: the drama right now between the number two and number
- 21:31Speaker 2: three pick? I feel like that's really where this draft
- 21:34Speaker 2: gets going right. I feel like everyone's been talking about
- 21:37Speaker 2: the two and three pick. They've been flip flopping. I mean,
- 21:40Speaker 2: chatter knows why. I like Scoot. I mean, how can
- 21:42Speaker 2: you not love a guy with the named Scoot? And
- 21:45Speaker 2: I think, what is it? Brandon Miller? The other guy
- 21:48Speaker 2: ed one of the worst quotes I've ever seen, ever
- 21:51Speaker 2: seen in my life. If someone's your favorite player, you
- 21:53Speaker 2: don't call them the goat. You just say that's my
- 21:55Speaker 2: favorite player. So someone asked him, is Lebron James the
- 21:58Speaker 2: goat or Michael Jordan? He said, either, my goat is
- 22:02Speaker 2: Paul George. I couldn't believe that. The interviewer just let
- 22:05Speaker 2: that go. This kid might be an idiot, but he's
- 22:09Speaker 2: looking like he might be going number two.
- 22:10Speaker 1: Overall.
- 22:11Speaker 2: What's your view on the number two and number three pick.
- 22:12Speaker 2: We've seen some crazy movement here in the last twenty
- 22:15Speaker 2: four hours.
- 22:16Speaker 3: Yeah, the line movement has gone heavily towards Brandon Miller
- 22:20Speaker 3: being number two to the Charlotte Hornets. Right now, it
- 22:23Speaker 3: was something like minus two hundred as I went to
- 22:25Speaker 3: bed last night. It's up closer to minus five hundred. Now.
- 22:28Speaker 3: We're moving strongly in the range now where it looks
- 22:30Speaker 3: like Miller is likely to pick. But you guys, remember
- 22:34Speaker 3: a year ago we did this at the top of
- 22:36Speaker 3: the draft when min Yana's number one. Forget about it,
- 22:39Speaker 3: pretend number two was number one. That's where the draft starts.
- 22:42Speaker 3: Last year, we had Paolo von Carroll was not supposed
- 22:46Speaker 3: to go number one with Jabari Smith I think something
- 22:49Speaker 3: like minus one hundred thousand the day before the draft
- 22:52Speaker 3: to go number one, and then started coming down minus
- 22:54Speaker 3: sixty thousand, minus twenty thousand, got to like minus thirteen hundred,
- 22:59Speaker 3: and then there was another tweet right before the draft,
- 23:01Speaker 3: like a couple hours before that, that said, okay, you
- 23:04Speaker 3: know the sources said no, it's Jabbari Jabari's number one,
- 23:07Speaker 3: and the line sha right back up again. This the
- 23:10Speaker 3: thing with the NBA draft that's different than than betting
- 23:13Speaker 3: on a game, or even betting on NFL draft. It's
- 23:17Speaker 3: all information. It's all intel information and misinformation, and one
- 23:22Speaker 3: guy's information coming out feeds the next mock draft, feeds
- 23:25Speaker 3: the next report and the next Everyone wants credit, right,
- 23:28Speaker 3: So you got to be really careful about who you're
- 23:30Speaker 3: getting your your tweets and your sources from, not just
- 23:33Speaker 3: the guy with like the misspelled letter in the name.
- 23:35Speaker 3: So it's a fake version, but different sources are getting
- 23:39Speaker 3: the same text from the same agents and the same sources. Charlotte,
- 23:42Speaker 3: of course, is all reporting right now. All reporting is
- 23:45Speaker 3: saying Charlotte wants Brandon Miller, the wing out of Alabama,
- 23:48Speaker 3: shoots the ball well, good size, sort of guy that
- 23:51Speaker 3: every NBA player, you know, every every NBA team would want.
- 23:54Speaker 3: Paul George is a good count for him. That's who
- 23:56Speaker 3: I would compare Brandon Miller too, so sure it can
- 24:00Speaker 3: be his goat. I guess, horrendous quote. I don't know
- 24:02Speaker 3: what you're doing there. Scoot Henderson is a face of
- 24:05Speaker 3: the franchise sort of guy. He's a leader. He played
- 24:09Speaker 3: in the fall. He played against Wim and Yama. There
- 24:11Speaker 3: is this two game series and Scoot is a six
- 24:14Speaker 3: to two point guard and he went right at the
- 24:16Speaker 3: seven to four dude. Now he got blocked, but he
- 24:19Speaker 3: went right at him. He got that dog in him right,
- 24:22Speaker 3: like he fights. He plays hard, athletic Derrick Rose sort
- 24:26Speaker 3: of player. So to me as a scout and from
- 24:30Speaker 3: a lot of the draft twitter that I've seen, Scoot
- 24:32Speaker 3: is the guy that is number two and really number
- 24:35Speaker 3: two in a tier of his own. Brandon Miller doesn't
- 24:38Speaker 3: seem like the guy there. But the Hornets have a
- 24:41Speaker 3: point guard already, so there's a lot of talking like, well,
- 24:43Speaker 3: do you do you draft for fit or do you
- 24:45Speaker 3: draft for need? An NFL draft you if you have
- 24:49Speaker 3: a quarterback, great, well we're not going to take one
- 24:51Speaker 3: of the quarterbacks. Maybe we trade out. The NBA is
- 24:53Speaker 3: more fluid because you just put these five guys out there.
- 24:56Speaker 3: Scoot Henderson could play with LaMelo Ball they get both played. Yeah,
- 25:00Speaker 3: you're gonna have two guys run point a little bit
- 25:02Speaker 3: and share the duties. You might actually be better off
- 25:04Speaker 3: that way. You can play multiple wings, three four of
- 25:07Speaker 3: them sometimes like Brandon Miller. So to me, that's where
- 25:10Speaker 3: things start. The drama is this Miller is not necessarily
- 25:16Speaker 3: the guy that's number two overall, but expected to go
- 25:18Speaker 3: number two. Right now, Portland sits at number three. Portland
- 25:22Speaker 3: doesn't want Scoot Henderson necessarily, it seems, because he's a
- 25:26Speaker 3: point guard. Portland has a superstar point guard, Damian Lillard.
- 25:30Speaker 3: Jamian Lillard just coming off of one of his best seasons.
- 25:33Speaker 3: He doesn't want to bring in, you know, a nineteen
- 25:35Speaker 3: year old point guard to sit behind him and come
- 25:37Speaker 3: off the bench. He wants to win. He wants to
- 25:39Speaker 3: go win right now. So that's the drama. Is Portland
- 25:43Speaker 3: would like to trade that pick for Paul George is
- 25:46Speaker 3: one of the rumors that's come out for Zion Williamson. Possibly.
- 25:49Speaker 3: These are some of the names being rumored. Matt Moore
- 25:52Speaker 3: is an article oup at Action Network with some of
- 25:54Speaker 3: the Portland rumors. But it's really fascinating that if Miller
- 25:58Speaker 3: does go number two, like the I would suggest right
- 26:01Speaker 3: now that puts Portland, it kind of corners them and
- 26:05Speaker 3: they're stock quote unquote with the guy that most people
- 26:08Speaker 3: would want to have anyways in stut Henderson when they
- 26:11Speaker 3: really would like to trade and get some veteran help
- 26:13Speaker 3: trade out. If they do take Scoot, that might be
- 26:16Speaker 3: the next domino that we spend the next week talking about. Okay, well,
- 26:20Speaker 3: here comes that trade with cuss from Damian Lillard, and
- 26:23Speaker 3: now where's he going to go? Is he going to
- 26:25Speaker 3: go to the Heat or the Lakers or the Clippers
- 26:27Speaker 3: or something like it? That that In the NBA, it's
- 26:31Speaker 3: almost as much fun in the offseason as it is
- 26:33Speaker 3: in the games. Just watching all the hype and where
- 26:36Speaker 3: the players all go. So it's tough to bet on it.
- 26:39Speaker 3: You got to get the intel and you got to
- 26:40Speaker 3: act fast. But that's what the drama looks like at
- 26:42Speaker 3: two and three.
- 26:43Speaker 1: Right now, I feel like someone like the Bulls, and
- 26:48Speaker 1: I read Matt's sort of intel reports. There's been a
- 26:52Speaker 1: lot of conversations about zach Lavine being on the market.
- 26:56Speaker 1: The Bulls should go all in, get rid of zach Lavine,
- 27:00Speaker 1: send him to Portland for a bushel of players and
- 27:04Speaker 1: that number three spot, and get Scoot Henderson and start rebuilding.
- 27:12Speaker 1: Not even a rebuild, you get Scoot Henderson, you PLoP
- 27:14Speaker 1: them in there. That could be a team that has
- 27:18Speaker 1: much higher ceiling in the long run.
- 27:21Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean there are a lot of veterans like that.
- 27:23Speaker 3: I would love to see the Chicago Bulls hit the
- 27:26Speaker 3: rebuild switch. But I've been waiting for that for a
- 27:29Speaker 3: few years now, and they kind of keep doubling down
- 27:31Speaker 3: and tripling down, trading for Boots, trading for DeMar DeRozan.
- 27:35Speaker 3: So there are a lot of names out there, and
- 27:37Speaker 3: the question for a lot of these teams is you
- 27:39Speaker 3: see Denver, you see what they can do and win
- 27:41Speaker 3: the championship. Can we beat them? Can we be that
- 27:44Speaker 3: level of team? And if we can't, then where are we?
- 27:47Speaker 3: Because for the Bulls, for example, they were a few
- 27:50Speaker 3: minutes away from beating the Mammy Heat and knocking them
- 27:53Speaker 3: out of the play in and out of the playoffs entirely,
- 27:56Speaker 3: and then the Heater in the finals. So if you're Chicago,
- 28:00Speaker 3: which version of reality do you accept? Do you accept
- 28:02Speaker 3: the one that says, well, we almost beat the Heat,
- 28:05Speaker 3: maybe we would have made the run of the finals.
- 28:07Speaker 3: That's delusional. You should not accept that reality. But you
- 28:10Speaker 3: could try to tog yourself into that or you could accept, well,
- 28:14Speaker 3: we should have not even been in that position. Let's
- 28:17Speaker 3: trade our guys. Let's trade Levine, Let's get that haul.
- 28:20Speaker 3: Get these you know, huge swing of first round picks,
- 28:22Speaker 3: and you know there's a difference between we're giving you
- 28:26Speaker 3: two picks, three four picks versus this is the number
- 28:29Speaker 3: three pick. And in reality, if it's Scoot, it's kind
- 28:32Speaker 3: of like the number one pick. You don't get to
- 28:34Speaker 3: trade for the number one pick in a draft that
- 28:36Speaker 3: level of prospect, that guy is not available, Like the
- 28:40Speaker 3: Spurs are not taking offers for one Minyama. There's there
- 28:42Speaker 3: are no offers. No, they've disconnected the phones, they've left
- 28:47Speaker 3: the facilities. They're out partying, celebrating the future with him.
- 28:51Speaker 3: I think Scoot is not that, but it's the sort
- 28:54Speaker 3: of guy that you if he's possibly available, you find
- 28:58Speaker 3: a way to make the offer for for me, a
- 29:00Speaker 3: long shot bet if you want here. I still think
- 29:03Speaker 3: Scoot could be in play to go number two just
- 29:06Speaker 3: because of the trade value. Maybe only offer comes in
- 29:09Speaker 3: for Charlotte. I like and drafts to bet on uncertainty.
- 29:12Speaker 3: I like Brandon Miller to go number four in the
- 29:15Speaker 3: draft because if he's not number two, everyone agrees Scoot
- 29:19Speaker 3: two or three for sure, not everyone agrees Brandon Miller
- 29:22Speaker 3: is that same level or the next guy to go
- 29:25Speaker 3: number four is twenty five to one right now at
- 29:28Speaker 3: bet three six y five. If you think that there's
- 29:30Speaker 3: a little bit of uncertainty there, if he doesn't go
- 29:32Speaker 3: number two, then maybe he slips a little bit further
- 29:36Speaker 3: than people think. So I like to bet on some
- 29:38Speaker 3: of these long shots. You guys know, I'm a long
- 29:40Speaker 3: shots guy. I think that's one that if things slip,
- 29:42Speaker 3: it could end up hitting.
- 29:44Speaker 2: You can remember last time the Blazers passing a guy
- 29:47Speaker 2: just so that the uh not the Bearriers that Chicago
- 29:50Speaker 2: can move in and take a guy that they didn't
- 29:52Speaker 2: need because I already have the position filled. So, as
- 29:54Speaker 2: someone that secretly loves the Blazers, I always wish the
- 29:57Speaker 2: best for the Blazers just because their fans are amazing.
- 29:59Speaker 2: I mean Dame time in that playoff series when he
- 30:01Speaker 2: hit that overtime shot and the whole crowd went wild,
- 30:04Speaker 2: it was just like, God, I want Portland to get us,
- 30:06Speaker 2: get you know, a world championship man. When I hate
- 30:09Speaker 2: this move for them, it's it's just it's terrifying to
- 30:13Speaker 2: think that they have a high draft pick like this
- 30:15Speaker 2: and they're gonna keep on trying to make it work
- 30:17Speaker 2: with Dame. Trade Dame to the Sixers. Please let this
- 30:20Speaker 2: guy go somewhere else and get a ring. It's not
- 30:23Speaker 2: happening in Portland. I'm I'm a big believer, and they
- 30:25Speaker 2: need to start over. I feel like Scoot would be
- 30:28Speaker 2: the perfect player for them to start over with. Like
- 30:29Speaker 2: I feel like everything you just said so true. Where
- 30:32Speaker 2: this kid, you'll grow with him and you'll be the leader.
- 30:34Speaker 2: And he's the point guard and he's a dog. He's
- 30:36Speaker 2: just such a dog like if you watch his film,
- 30:39Speaker 2: like you said, he wouldn't right at Victor. There's no
- 30:40Speaker 2: one that's too big for him. There's no any fears,
- 30:43Speaker 2: And I love that for kid coming in the NBA.
- 30:44Speaker 2: He really reminds me of another style. Is not the
- 30:47Speaker 2: exact same, but he reminds me of d Wade at Marquette.
- 30:50Speaker 2: D Wade played with the same style. He really throw
- 30:53Speaker 2: his body at guys. You'd always go really hard the hoop.
- 30:55Speaker 2: So Brandon, just looking at everything we just talked about.
- 30:59Speaker 2: If we see Scoot go number two, is that a
- 31:02Speaker 2: Michael Jordan pick? Is that the rumors we're hearing out
- 31:04Speaker 2: of Charlotte that he's still the one making the pick.
- 31:06Speaker 2: So I just want to hear your opinion. Would that
- 31:08Speaker 2: be a Michael Jordan pick? Or is there someone gets
- 31:11Speaker 2: come in the last minute Charlotte might trade that number
- 31:13Speaker 2: two pick. Do you think anything like that's gonna happen?
- 31:15Speaker 2: Or is this going to be Charlotte Charlotte's pick at
- 31:18Speaker 2: number two?
- 31:18Speaker 3: Yeah, it's wild to me that. Yeah, we saw news
- 31:21Speaker 3: today that Michael Jordan apparently gets final say on the pick.
- 31:24Speaker 3: What are we doing, Michael Jordan has sold the team
- 31:27Speaker 3: and been horrendous owning the team. It's why we're like,
- 31:31Speaker 3: Michael Jordan is the goat. Michael Jordan's the guy, but
- 31:35Speaker 3: not as an executive, not as an owner. I don't
- 31:38Speaker 3: know why you'd possibly let mj have the final say
- 31:40Speaker 3: on it. To me, despite that, it's either Charlotte stays
- 31:45Speaker 3: at two and takes Brandon Miller. That seems like the
- 31:47Speaker 3: thing that that's the intel we've seen all along. I
- 31:50Speaker 3: don't think Charlotte takes Scoot. We just haven't seen them
- 31:53Speaker 3: in love with him. We've seen from the night of
- 31:55Speaker 3: the lottery that Miller is their guy. If they stay,
- 31:58Speaker 3: if it is Scoot at two, I think it has
- 32:00Speaker 3: to be a trade. I think it's that New Orleans
- 32:03Speaker 3: or one of these other teams. Toronto has been interested
- 32:06Speaker 3: teams trying to trade in. We have not heard any
- 32:09Speaker 3: rumors about TMX is interested in trading up for Brandon Miller.
- 32:13Speaker 3: No rumors of that. Everybody wants to trade for Scoot.
- 32:16Speaker 3: Take the hint, Charlotte, what are you deal with me?
- 32:18Speaker 3: Like when everyone wants the same guy, maybe take the guy.
- 32:22Speaker 3: Take the Michael Jordan of the draft, not not the
- 32:24Speaker 3: Sam Bowie, but you know it's Charlotte. As part of
- 32:28Speaker 3: the fun of these drafts is you get to bank
- 32:30Speaker 3: on some of these teams being well teams to bet
- 32:32Speaker 3: against as well.
- 32:34Speaker 1: Well, here's what's interesting. If you look back in history,
- 32:38Speaker 1: the Blazers Sam Bouie or Michael Jordan, they take Sam Bouie.
- 32:43Speaker 1: Sam Bouie has a history of injury problems, never becomes
- 32:49Speaker 1: the player, right they have the chance, Greg Oden or
- 32:52Speaker 1: Kevin Durant, they take Greg Oden, history of injury problems,
- 32:56Speaker 1: never becomes a great player. Kevin Durant, Michael Jordan obviously
- 33:00Speaker 1: have become who they've become. This year, the Blazers are
- 33:04Speaker 1: in a position where they don't get the option to
- 33:07Speaker 1: choose between a potentially generational talent whose body type historically
- 33:13Speaker 1: breaks down, whether it's Greg Odin, Sam Buie, Yao Ming,
- 33:19Speaker 1: Kevin Durant, Chet Holmgren, like, the evidence for people like
- 33:25Speaker 1: that being able to maintain health for a consistent period
- 33:28Speaker 1: of time in the NBA is clearly against him or
- 33:31Speaker 1: Scoot Henderson, who everyone loves. It would be a consensus
- 33:34Speaker 1: number one just it would be poetic for the Blazers
- 33:39Speaker 1: to be able to get Scoot Henderson because they can't
- 33:42Speaker 1: make the wrong choice. Do you know what I mean?
- 33:44Speaker 1: Between when Ben Yama and Scoot Henderson, they just get
- 33:47Speaker 1: the guy who is the obvious guy to take if
- 33:50Speaker 1: they're lucky enough to take them before we let you go.
- 33:55Speaker 1: I would be remiss and Matt Mitchell would kill me
- 34:00Speaker 1: if I didn't bring up the fact that there is
- 34:03Speaker 1: a duo known as the Thompson Twins. And we don't
- 34:08Speaker 1: mean the eighties pop band with seven top forty hits
- 34:15Speaker 1: that might sing a song whose chorus goes, We're talking
- 34:38Speaker 1: about the Thompson Twins. Brandon Anderson. What are we doing
- 34:41Speaker 1: with those two?
- 34:42Speaker 3: Yeah, these are the mystery guys in this draft. These
- 34:44Speaker 3: are identical twins six foot seven, seven foot wingspand they're
- 34:48Speaker 3: elite athletes. Aman Thompson is expected to be something like
- 34:53Speaker 3: a top five athlete in the NBA instantly the moment
- 34:56Speaker 3: he gets drapped, Like that's the level of athletes we're
- 34:58Speaker 3: talking about. Asar Thompson, the twin brother like identical twins,
- 35:03Speaker 3: Like actually impossibly frustrating to watch tape of and Scout
- 35:08Speaker 3: because you have to watch the jersey number, so you're
- 35:10Speaker 3: like same thing same look, same style of play, the
- 35:14Speaker 3: way that they dribble, the way that they shoot. It's
- 35:17Speaker 3: so much as similar here. What's wild is we got
- 35:20Speaker 3: Victor the guy overseas. We've got Brandon Miller, We've got
- 35:24Speaker 3: you know, he played in college. Even Scoot Henderson g League.
- 35:27Speaker 3: We can watch those games on ESPN, on streaming whatever.
- 35:31Speaker 3: The Thompson Twins played in overtime elite. This is a
- 35:34Speaker 3: non collegiate league. This is guys. A lot of them
- 35:37Speaker 3: are like sixteen, seventeen, eighteen year olds. The Thompson Twins
- 35:40Speaker 3: are twenty. So we have these hyper athletic twenty year
- 35:43Speaker 3: olds mashing against sixteen year olds. What do we do
- 35:47Speaker 3: with that? Like, I know what to tell of the
- 35:49Speaker 3: tape of that? Like great, So go to the park
- 35:53Speaker 3: and find some twenty year olds and have them team
- 35:56Speaker 3: up against some sixteen year olds and see who play
- 35:58Speaker 3: is like who comes out ahead? Like the athleticism difference
- 36:01Speaker 3: in body type and age of a four year swing
- 36:04Speaker 3: at that age is massive. So how do we evaluate that,
- 36:07Speaker 3: especially when our Thompson Twins, these guys, by the way,
- 36:10Speaker 3: are going to be almost certain top ten, possibly both
- 36:13Speaker 3: top five. That's the guys we're talking about here. Overtime
- 36:16Speaker 3: elites never had a player in their program drafted before.
- 36:19Speaker 3: They're supposed to have multiple. Last year, none of them
- 36:21Speaker 3: made it into the draft, even the second round. So
- 36:25Speaker 3: what do we do. We haven't seen them really have
- 36:28Speaker 3: a real competition the last couple of years. We haven't
- 36:31Speaker 3: really seen them have great coaching necessarily or great development
- 36:34Speaker 3: during these critical years. Amen is the guy that has
- 36:38Speaker 3: the highest ceiling. He's possibly his favored right now to
- 36:41Speaker 3: go number four to the Houston Rockets. A SAR is
- 36:44Speaker 3: more of a wing player. Amen might be like a
- 36:46Speaker 3: Ben Simmons, the kind that actually played the good Ben Simmons,
- 36:50Speaker 3: the where he plays defense and passes uses his height.
- 36:53Speaker 3: That's kind of what he is. But like Ben Simmons,
- 36:56Speaker 3: the reason that comp is there is because neither of
- 36:57Speaker 3: these guys shoots the ball at all. Is really rough
- 37:01Speaker 3: looking right now, and shooting can be developed and come around,
- 37:04Speaker 3: but tough to make your franchise pick the top five.
- 37:07Speaker 3: I'm a guy that just can't shoot all right now.
- 37:10Speaker 3: A SAR has the higher floor to me, he's the
- 37:13Speaker 3: safer choice. He to me, is a guy that has
- 37:16Speaker 3: the more NBA ready role. He's more of a wing.
- 37:18Speaker 3: He's more of a complimentary player. He moves the ball along,
- 37:21Speaker 3: plays defense well, defense with the team really well. I
- 37:25Speaker 3: like to me the fact that Asar has more range
- 37:30Speaker 3: of outcomes in the draft. Aman Thompson, think about Ben Simmons,
- 37:34Speaker 3: if that's sort of player, He's like, you have to
- 37:36Speaker 3: have a very specific team. Simon knows you've got to
- 37:39Speaker 3: have the right dudes around Ben Simmons for that to work.
- 37:43Speaker 3: And I'm not talking about the injuries and all the
- 37:45Speaker 3: stuff now good Ben Simmons needs the right guys around
- 37:49Speaker 3: him because if you can't shoot in the modern MBA
- 37:51Speaker 3: and you're not a center, everything has to be perfect.
- 37:54Speaker 3: Amen has very specific teams he can go to or
- 37:56Speaker 3: teams that might like him. I think Asar plays for
- 37:59Speaker 3: any team is like Brandon Miller. He's a wing. He's
- 38:02Speaker 3: a wing that goes out and does all the things
- 38:04Speaker 3: that you need. So they're fun. We don't know what
- 38:07Speaker 3: they are. They're guys that we're gonna want to watch
- 38:09Speaker 3: in Summer League, for sure. A bet I like again
- 38:12Speaker 3: betting an uncertainty. Almand is the guy that has rumored
- 38:15Speaker 3: to go fourth, possibly fifth, possibly even could be something
- 38:18Speaker 3: you trade up for I'm gonna bet against it. I'm
- 38:21Speaker 3: gonna bet on a Sar to go ahead of almend
- 38:23Speaker 3: bet on the Thompson twins. It's plus two to seventy
- 38:26Speaker 3: five right now at bet three six five. I'll bet
- 38:29Speaker 3: on the guy that has less of a hype, but
- 38:32Speaker 3: many of the scouts feel like he's the more ready
- 38:34Speaker 3: player and a guy that fits rosters just much more easily.
- 38:38Speaker 3: So I don't know about the Eighties band. I can't
- 38:41Speaker 3: bet on them either way, but I like Asar. I
- 38:44Speaker 3: like him a little better than Almen. I think he's
- 38:45Speaker 3: a safer place. So plus two to seventy five to
- 38:47Speaker 3: go ahead of Almond. It's my final long.
- 38:49Speaker 1: Shot for the podcast today, all right, So before we
- 38:53Speaker 1: let you go, recap Scoot Henderson to win Rookie of
- 38:57Speaker 1: the Year plus four fifty eight bet three soon fading
- 39:01Speaker 1: Victor Brandon Miller surprise go number four twenty five to
- 39:06Speaker 1: one at bet three sers five, And now Asser A
- 39:10Speaker 1: Sar Asar Thompson Sar Thompson plus two seventy five to
- 39:15Speaker 1: go before his brother. Let's do a lightning round. Give
- 39:20Speaker 1: me some lightning round bets before we let you go.
- 39:24Speaker 3: All right, So I'm giving out all long shots if
- 39:26Speaker 3: you want a shorter, more certain hit. One of the
- 39:29Speaker 3: best over runners I like on the board is Gig Jackson.
- 39:32Speaker 3: Over twenty six and a half, so in draft terms,
- 39:35Speaker 3: that means picks twenty seventh or lower. G Jackson reclassified
- 39:39Speaker 3: as one of the youngest guys in draft at South Carolina.
- 39:42Speaker 3: He is young, and he looked the part. He played young.
- 39:45Speaker 3: He played immature. He got benched for a stretch of
- 39:48Speaker 3: the season, and he had a lot of bad body language.
- 39:51Speaker 3: And he's had a lot of rough interview process as well,
- 39:53Speaker 3: And that stuff matters this time of the year for draft.
- 39:56Speaker 3: You're interviewing, you're interviewing for a job position. I don't
- 39:59Speaker 3: think it's got of all f for him. His agent
- 40:01Speaker 3: also is an agent that has no other NBA players
- 40:05Speaker 3: currently right now. That matters too. You need to get
- 40:07Speaker 3: the phone call, you need the connection. So I'll bet
- 40:10Speaker 3: the over on him. It's minus one sixty, but I'll
- 40:12Speaker 3: drink the juice on that one. I said last long shot,
- 40:15Speaker 3: But let me give you my longest long shot here,
- 40:18Speaker 3: Jordan A. Walsh to go first round. If you can
- 40:21Speaker 3: still get it thirty to one, I think I see
- 40:23Speaker 3: it right now. With that, BET's three sixty five is
- 40:25Speaker 3: sixteen to one. Get the longest number you can. Jordan Walsh,
- 40:29Speaker 3: to me, other than the centers, is the best defender
- 40:32Speaker 3: in the draft. He's from Arkansas, huge wingspan, reminds me
- 40:35Speaker 3: of kind of Andre Guidala, guy that can defend maybe
- 40:38Speaker 3: all five positions on a court. He can't play offense
- 40:41Speaker 3: at all, does nothing on offense right now, So that's
- 40:44Speaker 3: why stock is low and why he's not potentially a
- 40:46Speaker 3: first round pick. He doesn't shoot, doesn't really dribble that well.
- 40:50Speaker 3: So guys are like, well, he plays defense, but we
- 40:53Speaker 3: don't have a role for him an offense. This is
- 40:54Speaker 3: not the NFL. You got to play both both ways.
- 40:57Speaker 3: You don't get a sub off halfway down the court.
- 40:59Speaker 3: But those sort of guys, if you get the right
- 41:02Speaker 3: fin sometimes your defense is good enough, especially on the ball,
- 41:05Speaker 3: like Walsh could be. You find a way and look
- 41:08Speaker 3: at the past couple NBA champions, Denver Nuggets had Bruce Brown,
- 41:13Speaker 3: a guy that nobody could find a spot for, and
- 41:16Speaker 3: Denver found a spot saying, hey, you know what, defend
- 41:19Speaker 3: cut to the basket fit in our system. We got offense.
- 41:22Speaker 3: Nikola Jokic he'll do the rest. Just watch for the ball.
- 41:26Speaker 3: Can you make it a layup and dunk the ball?
- 41:28Speaker 3: He'll find you. Look at the Golden State Warriors have
- 41:32Speaker 3: had Gary Payton in a role like that, have had
- 41:35Speaker 3: Andre Wadal a late career, Andreig Goodala doesn't have much offense,
- 41:38Speaker 3: and Draymond Green who doesn't have really any shooting in
- 41:41Speaker 3: your offense. They find the ways to give these guys
- 41:44Speaker 3: a role enough and then keep their defense on the court.
- 41:47Speaker 3: So Jordan Walsh thirty to one, sixteen to one, whatever,
- 41:51Speaker 3: the longest number you can get. I've seen him linked
- 41:54Speaker 3: to Denver, by the way, and just before we came on,
- 41:57Speaker 3: like half an hour ago, the Denver Nuggets just made
- 42:00Speaker 3: a trade. They traded up from the second round. They
- 42:03Speaker 3: now have the number twenty nine pick in the first round.
- 42:06Speaker 3: They're one of the teams that has been linked to
- 42:08Speaker 3: Jordan Walsh. There's starting to be some breadcrumbs there. This
- 42:11Speaker 3: number is getting shorter. I've seen it as short as
- 42:13Speaker 3: six to one some books. So he's a guy that
- 42:15Speaker 3: I like a lot, and I think that's my other
- 42:18Speaker 3: favorite long shot on the board here.
- 42:21Speaker 1: All right, Brandon Anderson excellent season with the NBA. We're
- 42:26Speaker 1: giving you a little bit of time to think before
- 42:29Speaker 1: we get into the NFL. Simon, I don't know about you.
- 42:34Speaker 1: I feel fully prepped.
- 42:36Speaker 2: Yeah, fired up for the draft.
- 42:38Speaker 1: I am fired up for the draft. I'm going to
- 42:40Speaker 1: be there tomorrow night. I'm going to be there. Oh yeah,
- 42:43Speaker 1: I'm going to go.
- 42:44Speaker 2: Got the action pass on your neck.
- 42:47Speaker 1: I guess it will say action, Yes, it will. I'm
- 42:49Speaker 1: you know, I don't actually I don't know. I don't
- 42:51Speaker 1: know if I have a ticket. Do I have a credential.
- 42:53Speaker 1: I'm an invited guest of the NBA, so I don't
- 42:56Speaker 1: know if there's like a special VIP entrance for me
- 43:00Speaker 1: for all the riff raft that are invited guests to
- 43:03Speaker 1: the NBA. I'll report back, but I'm going to be there. Chat.
- 43:06Speaker 3: Are you gonna get a picture with you and Victor?
- 43:08Speaker 3: I think we need a Lemonyana and Chad picture together.
- 43:11Speaker 1: I don't think there's a framing that can get both
- 43:14Speaker 1: of us in there at the same time. I don't
- 43:18Speaker 1: know if you guys saw the picture of him and
- 43:19Speaker 1: JJ Reddick. Jj Reddick six 's four. I mean he
- 43:23Speaker 1: looks like a tiny little ant. The guy is just
- 43:28Speaker 1: freakish in every way with his body as a reminder,
