- 0:00Speaker 1: There was a scene I was like imagining someone's hand
- 0:02Speaker 1: under that sand wiggling those turtles, or that we're like attached.
- 0:05Speaker 2: To some sort of stick under.
- 0:06Speaker 1: The sand, wiggling back and forth. Hey, everyone, welcome to

- 1:05Speaker 2: It's here a synopsis for The Beach House. Sure Thing.
- 1:08Speaker 2: When Kara finds her life spinning out of control, she
- 1:12Speaker 2: returns to the scenic Low Country to visit her mother.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Before long, the rhythms of the island open her heart
- 1:19Speaker 2: in wonderful ways. As she repairs the family's beach house,
- 1:23Speaker 2: becomes a bonafide turtle Lady and renews do I see
- 1:28Speaker 2: Laughing Turtle Lady's funny and renews old acquaintances. Long Loss
- 1:34Speaker 2: stars Mika Kelly, Andy McDowell, Chad McMurray, and Mackenzie Vega.
- 1:39Speaker 2: How about Chad Michael Murray? What did I say to
- 1:42Speaker 2: Jack McCray too much?
- 1:44Speaker 1: Ye?
- 1:45Speaker 2: Chad Michael Murray.
- 1:49Speaker 1: This movie was adapted from a two thousand and two
- 1:51Speaker 1: novel by Mary Alice Monroe. It's the first and a
- 1:54Speaker 1: seven book series about the beach house and characters involved.
- 2:00Speaker 2: Is this a book that you would read?
- 2:02Speaker 1: It's not not a book I would read. I mean,
- 2:04Speaker 1: I'm not going to get excited about it. But it's
- 2:07Speaker 1: the kind of a thing that I would read if
- 2:09Speaker 1: I needed something in ben to soothe me to sleep.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Got it. Maria Nation is also credited as a writer.
- 2:15Speaker 2: She has twenty four writing credits, including other book to
- 2:18Speaker 2: movie adaptations like Karen Kingsbury's Maggie's Christmas Miracle, Wow These
- 2:26Speaker 2: are hard to say Today and Debbie Mcover's Dashing Through
- 2:29Speaker 2: the Snow and most recently Lifetime's Girl in Room thirteen,
- 2:33Speaker 2: directed by Elizabeth Rahm and starring Anne.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Hash Anna McDowell plays Lovey in this movie. She has
- 2:40Speaker 1: eighty four acting credits. Of Course, we have Girls Gone.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Hallmark know her for her most recent role as Dell
- 2:46Speaker 1: in The Way Home. Other famous roles include movies like
- 2:49Speaker 1: Four Weddings in a Funeral and Groundhog Day, but she
- 2:52Speaker 1: also had a starring role in the Hallmark series from
- 2:56Speaker 1: twenty thirteen to twenty fifteen. Cedar Coves watch that show. No, ma'am,
- 3:01Speaker 1: I wonder what happened to it? Why did it have
- 3:03Speaker 1: just such a short run?
- 3:05Speaker 2: No idea? Okay? Mega Kelly plays daughter Kara's What's there
- 3:11Speaker 2: other Koretta? Is that her name? Yes? Okay? And she
- 3:15Speaker 2: has forty six acting credits, most recently four episodes of
- 3:18Speaker 2: The Euphoria, a show that I watch on HBO. She
- 3:22Speaker 2: is perhaps most well known for her role as Lilah
- 3:25Speaker 2: Garrity on Friday Night Lights, and has also had recurring
- 3:28Speaker 2: roles in the series Parenthood and Titans. And if I
- 3:32Speaker 2: can add, I think Mega Kelly is one of the
- 3:34Speaker 2: most beautiful women I've ever seen, Like I agree, right,
- 3:39Speaker 2: And did you know she's your age?
- 3:41Speaker 1: No, I would have assumed she's younger than me. Me.
- 3:44Speaker 2: I thought so too. I just think this is I
- 3:47Speaker 2: just thought she was in her thirties. Yes, I agree
- 3:50Speaker 2: what I'm saying. She's just so pretty.
- 3:53Speaker 1: She really, I agree she's she's beautiful like in a
- 3:57Speaker 1: makes me envious in a way I'm not proud of way.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Okay, we're all you minut It's okay, Chad Muchamurray plays Brett.
- 4:06Speaker 1: He has been in hits like Gilmore Girls, Dawson's Creek.
- 4:08Speaker 2: And One Tree Hill.
- 4:09Speaker 1: However, he made the move to Great American Family in
- 4:12Speaker 1: twenty twenty one. He currently stars on CTV's Sullivan's Crusting,
- 4:17Speaker 1: which features his Gilmore Girls co star Scott Patterson. What
- 4:21Speaker 1: is CTV Canadian Canada TV?
- 4:25Speaker 2: Oh so that's not anything we can get here?
- 4:28Speaker 1: No, not without a VPN. Uh.
- 4:32Speaker 2: Okay, I wonder if that show's any good. I'm not
- 4:34Speaker 2: asking a Facebook group. This movie was directed by Roger Spottiswood.
- 4:40Speaker 2: He has thirty six directing credits, although this was towards
- 4:46Speaker 2: the end of his career. Now full disclosure. Megan wrote
- 4:49Speaker 2: these notes and I was like is he dead? I
- 4:51Speaker 2: don't know. I don't want to know. I had to
- 4:53Speaker 2: look it up. I didn't see anything about him being dead.
- 4:57Speaker 2: He is quite older, so perhaps this was actually towards
- 5:02Speaker 2: the end of his working career. He also directed movies
- 5:07Speaker 2: like Turner and Hooch and the Band Played On, as
- 5:11Speaker 2: well as Tomorrow Never Dies. Have you seen? He's like
- 5:13Speaker 2: a real movie guy I played on. No, I don't
- 5:16Speaker 2: know what that is.
- 5:17Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure it's about the AIDS epidemic.
- 5:20Speaker 2: I kind of yeah, watched it in high school. It's
- 5:22Speaker 2: real sad. That does sound vaguely familiar. How did you
- 5:27Speaker 2: watch that in high school? I feel that you would
- 5:29Speaker 2: have watched like Philadelphia Story in high school.
- 5:32Speaker 1: You're thinking of Philadelphia Philadelphia Story is a different movie.
- 5:36Speaker 2: You know, Like we watched it at school? What? Yeah? Really?
- 5:41Speaker 1: I think we were learning about the AIDS epidemic.
- 5:45Speaker 2: Maybe I know college, because I can't imagine that they
- 5:49Speaker 2: showed that in public high school. I did take a
- 5:52Speaker 2: film class in college. It's possible that I watched it there.
- 5:55Speaker 2: I know I watched it for school of some sort.
- 5:58Speaker 2: I have a note that's not on your list, and
- 5:59Speaker 2: that is Donnie bo As plays Palmer and this dude work.
- 6:03Speaker 2: He has one hundred ten acting.
- 6:04Speaker 1: Credits, including two years of The Young and the Rest
- 6:07Speaker 1: Liss with one hundred and ten episodes plus thirteen upcoming
- 6:12Speaker 1: roles thirteen thirteen The Man is Busy.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Wow.
- 6:18Speaker 1: He also was on one episode of Friday Night Lights
- 6:20Speaker 1: with Maybe.
- 6:22Speaker 2: Oh that's interesting. I'm also a note that is not
- 6:25Speaker 2: listed here. Mckinziy Vega, who played Toy in this movie. Yeah,
- 6:30Speaker 2: she played the daughter on the Good Wife. I recognized
- 6:33Speaker 2: her face, but I was like, I can't place her.
- 6:34Speaker 2: I can't place her. Well, she was kind of a
- 6:37Speaker 2: little bit younger.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Finally, this was filmed on Tybee Island, just south of Savannah, Georgia.
- 6:42Speaker 2: Is that somewhere you've been before. I've been to Savannah, Georgia.
- 6:45Speaker 2: I have not been to Tybee Island. Okay, what's your
- 6:48Speaker 2: first impression of the beach house? Give a girl a
- 6:50Speaker 2: trigger warning?
- 6:52Speaker 1: Oh yeah, sorry, I didn't watch this. Well, I did
- 6:54Speaker 1: watch this before you. I didn't warn you.
- 6:57Speaker 2: And yours.
- 6:59Speaker 1: Palmer is an irredeemable trash bag.
- 7:02Speaker 2: Uh, I agree, chip off the old block. Huh hmm,
- 7:06Speaker 2: All right, what did you like about this movie? This
- 7:09Speaker 2: is not like an early Aughts tribute show in the
- 7:11Speaker 2: best way possible. First of all, Annie mcdowald's a treasure.
- 7:14Speaker 2: And I know this is not from the early yots.
- 7:16Speaker 2: I'm just saying that's the vibe it gives me. Annie
- 7:19Speaker 2: mcdoald's a treasure.
- 7:20Speaker 1: I've always been aware of her, but I don't think
- 7:22Speaker 1: I really appreciated how great she is until we watch
- 7:26Speaker 1: The Way Home. I just love her when she's on screen.
- 7:30Speaker 1: I just fight her mannerisms to be so enjoyable to watch.
- 7:35Speaker 1: But like you said, I really love Minka Kelly on screen. Yes,
- 7:39Speaker 1: she's beautiful, but I really enjoy the roles she plays.
- 7:42Speaker 1: I loved her on Parenthood. I think she's not the
- 7:45Speaker 1: most exciting role on Friday Night Lights for sure, but
- 7:48Speaker 1: she plays that Lila Garrity role to perfection. I just
- 7:52Speaker 1: really enjoy them. I don't love the other star of
- 7:55Speaker 1: this movie, so I'm just gonna leave it alone. Who's
- 7:57Speaker 1: cmm cmm. Yeah, that's interesting. You say that I didn't
- 8:03Speaker 1: hate Chad Michael Murray in this role.
- 8:05Speaker 2: I now agree with you. I haven't seen him in
- 8:08Speaker 2: anything since One Tree Hill. I watched One Tree Hill,
- 8:11Speaker 2: and I probably won't be watching him anything over on
- 8:15Speaker 2: Great American Family. I'm not opposed to checking out Sullivan's crossing.
- 8:19Speaker 2: Though I thought he was fine in this, I always
- 8:22Speaker 2: remember him as like this douchey teenager, though you know
- 8:25Speaker 2: he was terrible, as he wasn't terrible. His character Tristan
- 8:28Speaker 2: was terrible on Gilmore Girls. He was a good character
- 8:33Speaker 2: on One Tree Hill. He's not a bad actor. I
- 8:36Speaker 2: just I don't love that he has an exclusive over
- 8:40Speaker 2: with gaff I. Also, he was.
- 8:44Speaker 1: Briefly married to Sophia Bush, and I don't think things
- 8:46Speaker 1: went well.
- 8:47Speaker 2: And no, he cheated on her with what Paris Hilton.
- 8:51Speaker 2: Paris Hilton, Yeah, I have I have a note about
- 8:54Speaker 2: that later on.
- 8:54Speaker 1: Actually, okay, I just I do think people should be
- 8:57Speaker 1: able to climb out from under their miss deeds, Like
- 9:00Speaker 1: one bad instance of bad behavior shouldn't define you for
- 9:03Speaker 1: your entire life.
- 9:05Speaker 2: Plus, he was like twenty early twenties. We don't make
- 9:08Speaker 2: great decisions in her early twenties. No, indeed, but.
- 9:11Speaker 1: He's got the stigma right, he does, he does, and
- 9:14Speaker 1: I maybe that's unfair. I would also be willing to
- 9:16Speaker 1: watch Sullivan's crossing if anybody knows how we can get
- 9:18Speaker 1: it here in South of Canada.
- 9:20Speaker 2: Let us know, or if anybody has another Hallmark movie
- 9:23Speaker 2: that he was in that was. I mean, he's been
- 9:25Speaker 2: in a lot, but that's good, I know. But if
- 9:27Speaker 2: somebody has one, like, oh my god, he was great
- 9:29Speaker 2: in this movie, you have to watch it. Please email us,
- 9:32Speaker 2: send us the DM, drop it in the Facebook group something.
- 9:35Speaker 2: What else did you like? Well, I have to agree
- 9:38Speaker 2: with you. I did like seeing Andy McDowell. I thought
- 9:41Speaker 2: this was I like seeing her in a different role
- 9:44Speaker 2: other than Dell. Like you said, I know of her,
- 9:48Speaker 2: was not totally familiar with all of her work though,
- 9:51Speaker 2: uh huh. I remember her specifically being like a cosmetic model.
- 9:56Speaker 2: Oh uh huh. In the Night she worked for some
- 10:00Speaker 2: sort of cosmetic brand. And I remember she had a
- 10:04Speaker 2: super hot husband who she is now divorced from. But oh,
- 10:08Speaker 2: I don't remember Groundhog's Day or I've seen that movie
- 10:13Speaker 2: so many times, four weddings and a funeral, Like, I
- 10:15Speaker 2: don't remember her in those movies. You know, Annie MacDell
- 10:18Speaker 2: was a loreal model. I knew it was something good job.
- 10:22Speaker 2: Can I tell you spoiler alert? I'm glad we didn't
- 10:26Speaker 2: get a drawn out death scene. Oh yeah, I really
- 10:31Speaker 2: liked it. We didn't even see her face on. We
- 10:33Speaker 2: saw her from behind m barely.
- 10:36Speaker 1: She just drops the card. Yeah, and it's done well
- 10:42Speaker 1: to switch gears. I thought this was a gorgeous filming location.
- 10:45Speaker 1: Oh it was nice. I'm glad to be out of Vancouver.
- 10:47Speaker 1: I mean, Vancouver's gorgeous. They find beautiful locations. But I
- 10:51Speaker 1: liked this Southern Coastal Island summary vibe, even though it
- 10:57Speaker 1: was filmed in the fall, probably the h but I
- 11:00Speaker 1: liked it.
- 11:01Speaker 2: Yeah, there's probably lots of bugs. And I don't know
- 11:03Speaker 2: if I could deal with the threat of hurricane weather.
- 11:05Speaker 2: Oh for sure not. I would not do what stresses
- 11:07Speaker 2: me out. I mean, listeners out here. We live in
- 11:10Speaker 2: southern California, where it's like land of earthquakes. Earthquakes don't
- 11:14Speaker 2: scare me at all, but the threat of a hurricane
- 11:16Speaker 2: really terrifies me.
- 11:18Speaker 1: Yeah, and there's nothing you can do about an earthquake,
- 11:19Speaker 1: like it shows up and it's gone. There's no like,
- 11:21Speaker 1: do I need to leave, Do I need to go?
- 11:22Speaker 1: Should I stay? Should I write it? If it's gonna
- 11:25Speaker 1: get you, it's gonna get you.
- 11:26Speaker 2: God. Finally, for me, what I liked about this is I,
- 11:30Speaker 2: Like I said at the beginning, give a girl a
- 11:32Speaker 2: trigger warning. I do appreciate that they kept Lovy specific
- 11:36Speaker 2: cancer diagnosis vague. Yeah, I like that's it in Yeah,
- 11:42Speaker 2: And the day she died, she was like, you know,
- 11:45Speaker 2: that was it.
- 11:46Speaker 1: It was not the misery of Hallmark Mysteries. Yes, hey,
- 11:51Speaker 1: this is a fun fact that I like. This movie
- 11:54Speaker 1: was brought to the executive producer Dan Wigatow by Anny
- 11:56Speaker 1: McDowell herself.
- 11:57Speaker 2: She had read the book and said, hey, we should
- 11:59Speaker 2: make a movie about this, and he did, oh wow,
- 12:02Speaker 2: really that's cool. Are you ready to move on to
- 12:05Speaker 2: what you wished for? Yeah?
- 12:07Speaker 1: I mean fake turtles hardwatch that.
- 12:10Speaker 2: I agree with that.
- 12:12Speaker 1: There was a scene I was like imagining someone's hand
- 12:14Speaker 1: under that sand wiggling those turtles, or if they were
- 12:16Speaker 1: like attached to some sort of stick under the sand,
- 12:19Speaker 1: wiggling back and forth. They're not real, and the very
- 12:23Speaker 1: little sea turtle research I read said there's zero chance
- 12:27Speaker 1: that they would have been allowed anywhere near this happening
- 12:30Speaker 1: because they're so protected. They're not going to let a
- 12:32Speaker 1: camera crew set up there, so you know, they're not real.
- 12:35Speaker 1: They did the best with what they could, but there
- 12:37Speaker 1: were moments I was like, that is a gift shop
- 12:40Speaker 1: turtle under that sand?
- 12:45Speaker 2: Well, what about the one that was like the big
- 12:47Speaker 2: female turtle that came out to layer eggs? Was that
- 12:50Speaker 2: like a CGI situation? What was I looking at there?
- 12:53Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 12:53Speaker 1: Maybe it's like the mechanical bowl and ride. You've got
- 12:56Speaker 1: someone on the other side like rocking her back and
- 12:58Speaker 1: forth to move. No, not a real turtle.
- 13:02Speaker 2: And the whole scene where they're like, okay, it was
- 13:04Speaker 2: a little corny. The whole scene where they're like, oh,
- 13:07Speaker 2: they're going towards the light and there they were like
- 13:09Speaker 2: making a wall. I mean people, so it was blocking
- 13:13Speaker 2: the light.
- 13:13Speaker 1: What well looks that's based in fact, like they say,
- 13:17Speaker 1: if you are somewhere near these turtle hatcheries, don't use
- 13:21Speaker 1: flashlights at night, don't use lights on the beach at night.
- 13:24Speaker 1: These turtle rescue organizations will dig kind of like a
- 13:27Speaker 1: little trench from their nest down to the ocean for
- 13:30Speaker 1: them to follow. That is somewhat based in fact. The
- 13:34Speaker 1: turtles do need to follow the light and not get distracted.
- 13:38Speaker 1: But you're not gonna have people dropping down to their
- 13:41Speaker 1: knees to form a human wall. Like in a soccer game.
- 13:44Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what I'm suggesting. Was corny, not the natural
- 13:50Speaker 2: habits of turtles, but that they were like, let's make
- 13:53Speaker 2: a wall to block out the light. It just I
- 13:56Speaker 2: thought this movie was incredibly slow. It littled me to
- 14:00Speaker 2: sleep twice. Oh no, so it took Mega two days
- 14:04Speaker 2: to watch it. It felt very natural to me, like
- 14:07Speaker 2: this is what life on this island would feel like.
- 14:09Speaker 2: Slow and sleepy, not a lot happening. It was kind
- 14:13Speaker 2: of a hard watch for me. Furthermore, I wish for
- 14:16Speaker 2: more dynamics from the characters. I felt everyone was sort
- 14:22Speaker 2: of like one note. So, for example, I feel like
- 14:26Speaker 2: Andy mcdell acts her ass off as Dell, but in
- 14:32Speaker 2: this movie as Levey, it was just very monotonous.
- 14:37Speaker 1: I think that's Andy McDowell's natural state, this kind of
- 14:40Speaker 1: soft spoken personality. I felt like that was more who
- 14:45Speaker 1: she is, and I think this is who Minka Kelly is,
- 14:48Speaker 1: and a lot of her shows like she's a really
- 14:50Speaker 1: mild mannered and they needed someone other than bad guy
- 14:56Speaker 1: Palmer to be the dynamics in this movie.
- 15:00Speaker 2: I agree, because when you have too many mild manner characters,
- 15:04Speaker 2: like even Toy is.
- 15:05Speaker 1: Too nice, like Toy needed to be chicking things up.
- 15:08Speaker 1: We needed a little more drama here.
- 15:10Speaker 2: Agree. Now, this is what I was wondering, like, is
- 15:13Speaker 2: this a Southern thing that I don't fully understand? Like
- 15:16Speaker 2: we have this. Dell was a submissive wife, right, that
- 15:20Speaker 2: was a storyline that she was. She wouldn't stand up
- 15:22Speaker 2: to her husband, whereas Kara would stand up to him.
- 15:27Speaker 2: And then she is also the same way towards the sun.
- 15:31Speaker 1: Yes, I wrote, Dell cannot stand up to any of
- 15:33Speaker 1: the men in her life.
- 15:35Speaker 2: Del yes, love Okay. I just wonder like, is it
- 15:40Speaker 2: a Southern thing where you keep things close to the vest.
- 15:43Speaker 1: I don't know if it's Southern or if it's just
- 15:44Speaker 1: her personality, but I wanted her to be stronger, Like
- 15:48Speaker 1: there are moments where she gives me these like strong vibes,
- 15:51Speaker 1: like I'm gonna be strong for my daughter and I'm
- 15:52Speaker 1: not gonna tell her what's going on with me, and
- 15:55Speaker 1: you know, I'm gonna welcome her home. But meanwhile, it's
- 15:58Speaker 1: just like, got to keep everybody happy. You had to
- 15:59Speaker 1: keep my husban and happy, You have to keep Palmer happy.
- 16:01Speaker 2: Don't rob the boat, yes, drop the boat, Like when
- 16:04Speaker 2: she leans out Palmer is taking money from her. She's
- 16:08Speaker 2: just like, yice, I would have flipped the us out.
- 16:15Speaker 2: And then I found out that forgives him.
- 16:17Speaker 1: Yes, like, Mom, I gotta sell your house and she's like, well,
- 16:21Speaker 1: I don't think.
- 16:21Speaker 2: That's gonna happen.
- 16:22Speaker 1: I'm like, no, you need to tell him to get
- 16:23Speaker 1: the hell out of your house because he's been stealing
- 16:26Speaker 1: from you mortgage at your house and now he wants
- 16:29Speaker 1: to sell the house that you live in.
- 16:31Speaker 2: It's too much. I needed a bigger reaction from her.
- 16:35Speaker 1: Yes. Look when Richard, who's Kara's ex boyfriend, shows up,
- 16:42Speaker 1: Brett get It said.
- 16:43Speaker 2: Yeah, he was trying to swing his big dick around. Yes, yeah,
- 16:46Speaker 2: And I was like why are you?
- 16:47Speaker 1: And he acted mad at Kara and I was like,
- 16:50Speaker 1: why are you mad at her? That this guy shows
- 16:52Speaker 1: up out of the blue, Like she didn't invite him here?
- 16:56Speaker 1: You know, she has an ex boyfriend back home he's
- 16:59Speaker 1: coming back to like, I don't know claim what's his,
- 17:02Speaker 1: but like, your anger is misplaced, her son.
- 17:07Speaker 2: I absolutely agree. I did totally catch us see and
- 17:11Speaker 2: I was like, why are you reacting like you're some
- 17:13Speaker 2: jealous boyfriend right now? Like she has unresolved life. Be cool, Yeah, dude,
- 17:20Speaker 2: just be cool. What's the point of toy storyline here?
- 17:23Speaker 1: Oh? Well, exactly what I was about to say is
- 17:25Speaker 1: I need more about Toy. I don't think it's developed enough.
- 17:28Speaker 1: And I looked briefly at some of the future synopsies
- 17:32Speaker 1: for the other books in this Beach House series, and
- 17:36Speaker 1: Toy does get her own book. And so I think
- 17:40Speaker 1: as a book, this is set up where you can
- 17:43Speaker 1: tell a whole story about Kara and her life, and
- 17:46Speaker 1: you can tell a whole story about Palmer and about Toy.
- 17:49Speaker 2: And there's a book.
- 17:50Speaker 1: That's actually about Lovey and her past love like it's
- 17:54Speaker 1: told from the past perspective in retrospect. So I think
- 17:59Speaker 1: as the first book in a series that works.
- 18:03Speaker 2: Fine.
- 18:03Speaker 1: You've got this character you don't know a lot about,
- 18:05Speaker 1: but she's gonna get her own book. As a standalone movie,
- 18:09Speaker 1: I think maybe we could cuff cut Toy out completely.
- 18:12Speaker 1: Mm hmm.
- 18:13Speaker 2: Do you think they were hoping to make this into
- 18:15Speaker 2: like a series of movies at one point?
- 18:19Speaker 1: Maybe? And I think Toys really her only role in
- 18:23Speaker 1: this movie is to act as a vehicle for the
- 18:26Speaker 1: mom's diagnosis to that lea of you weer know she's
- 18:29Speaker 1: hiding something with the green smoothies and the going to
- 18:33Speaker 1: the doctor, because otherwise nobody knows. I think there's a
- 18:37Speaker 1: clever way around that in writing that we didn't need
- 18:41Speaker 1: toy for. But if they're gonna make a series of movies, well, okay,
- 18:44Speaker 1: then you've got to set the character.
- 18:47Speaker 2: Yeah did you see Ah? Yes, did you see that?
- 18:51Speaker 2: Do you have any I have several me too?
- 18:53Speaker 1: Well? How to laugh out loud at the very casual
- 18:55Speaker 1: zoom in on the Hallmark card?
- 18:57Speaker 2: Yes that your ass are gonna show a haul Ofmark
- 19:00Speaker 2: card on there.
- 19:02Speaker 1: Okay, I think I've asked you this before. Have you
- 19:04Speaker 1: seen the original Wayne's World? I can't remember, it's been
- 19:08Speaker 1: many years. Gosh. There's a joke in that movie where
- 19:11Speaker 1: they do this like product placement scene and someone has
- 19:16Speaker 1: a headache and they zoom in on Mike Myers with
- 19:19Speaker 1: like medicine in his hand. He goes nuprin little yellow.
- 19:23Speaker 2: Different and then he like takes it.
- 19:24Speaker 1: It's just like a play on product place in the movies.
- 19:28Speaker 1: And every time I see like the lubriderm bottle on
- 19:31Speaker 1: the corner of someone's desk that they casually zoom in
- 19:34Speaker 1: as they walk by in a Hallmark movie.
- 19:35Speaker 2: It just makes me laugh out loud. So you say,
- 19:37Speaker 2: nuprin little Yellow.
- 19:40Speaker 1: I just found out the other day my husband has
- 19:42Speaker 1: never seen Wayne's World, and I quote aligned from that
- 19:45Speaker 1: movie all the time, and I was like, you have
- 19:47Speaker 1: no idea what I'm talking about.
- 19:48Speaker 2: Our entire marriage.
- 19:50Speaker 1: You don't know what I'm talking about. You just think
- 19:52Speaker 1: I'm battling incoherently.
- 19:55Speaker 2: I'm kind of shocked that you see Wayne's World and
- 19:59Speaker 2: are quoting from Wayne's World your.
- 20:01Speaker 1: Own movie A gun let alone many guns, which would
- 20:04Speaker 1: necessitate a gun rack.
- 20:06Speaker 2: I say it all the time. Yes, what would you
- 20:09Speaker 2: even say that in a reference to.
- 20:12Speaker 1: It has its moments, But I okay, she gives his
- 20:17Speaker 1: girlfriend gives him a gun rack, and he's like, that's
- 20:19Speaker 1: a nice gift.
- 20:20Speaker 2: I don't even own a gun let alone many guns.
- 20:22Speaker 1: Anyway, it doesn't matter. I don't think I enjoyed that movie.
- 20:28Speaker 1: At the same time, it has many memorable moments for me.
- 20:32Speaker 2: Trustine, Megan, you learned something new every single day. Wow,
- 20:38Speaker 2: did you see that? Go for it? Chad Michael Murray
- 20:40Speaker 2: wears a tragic pair of tevas sandals in this movie. Cuzy, Look,
- 20:48Speaker 2: I have nothing personally. I guess these types of sandals.
- 20:50Speaker 2: I thought like maybe I could pull them off to
- 20:51Speaker 2: and I tried them on one time. I was like, Nope,
- 20:53Speaker 2: not for me. Uh it was just an interesting wardrobe choice.
- 20:58Speaker 2: Uh huh. I mean maybe he's at the beach. I
- 21:01Speaker 2: guess he needs to wear sandals.
- 21:02Speaker 1: It's fine, there wasn't a better choice. Wouldn't a flip
- 21:05Speaker 1: flop be better than these Beulco straps that he's wearing.
- 21:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I think so. Here's what there's a casting credit
- 21:13Speaker 2: in the opening, you know when they what's that called credits? Yes,
- 21:19Speaker 2: casting credit by one Brooke Davis, which I thought was
- 21:23Speaker 2: really funny, and we mentioned it earlier because Chatmichael Murray
- 21:27Speaker 2: played opposite of a character named Brook Davis on One
- 21:30Speaker 2: Tree Hill was played by Sophia Bush, who he was
- 21:33Speaker 2: married to for a hot second.
- 21:34Speaker 1: Wow, nice catch. I've never seen One Tree Hill wouldn't
- 21:38Speaker 1: have made that connection. In the beginning of this movie,
- 21:41Speaker 1: she goes down to the dock to buy some shrimp,
- 21:43Speaker 1: and then after she buys some shrimp, she goes to
- 21:45Speaker 1: buy some shoes, and yeah, she's walking away. She's got
- 21:48Speaker 1: her shoes in her hand. She's got a purse, no shrimp, Like,
- 21:50Speaker 1: is the shrimp.
- 21:51Speaker 2: In her purse? Where did it go? It's not less.
- 21:54Speaker 2: She throws away her high heels and the trash candid
- 21:56Speaker 2: it is. I was like, why would you do that?
- 21:58Speaker 1: So either the shrimp is in her car, it's in
- 22:01Speaker 1: her purse, or there's.
- 22:03Speaker 2: I need two pounds of shrimp place. I thought they
- 22:05Speaker 2: were going out for shrimp. I didn't know she was
- 22:07Speaker 2: going to buy some shrimp to make at home. Yeah.
- 22:09Speaker 2: And when they first show him, I was like, Oh,
- 22:11Speaker 2: he's got barbecue sauce ont of his shirt. I mean,
- 22:15Speaker 2: I'm glad that they acknowledged it, but I thought that's weird.
- 22:20Speaker 1: Yet barbecue sauce. Yeah. That was to let us know
- 22:23Speaker 1: that you two know each other really well them.
- 22:25Speaker 2: Okay, I have one last did you see that? Yeah?
- 22:28Speaker 2: Chase Stokes plays young Russell in this movie, and we
- 22:32Speaker 2: barely see Russell rustles her like teenage gloves lazy. Yeah.
- 22:38Speaker 2: Chase Stokes plays JB on the Netflix hit Outer Banks.
- 22:41Speaker 2: I was sorry, oh, look at that.
- 22:45Speaker 1: I have two baby related did you see that one?
- 22:50Speaker 1: I mean she has a baby late at night and
- 22:51Speaker 1: first thing in the morning. She's driving home from the
- 22:53Speaker 1: hospital A and B without a car seat. Like she
- 22:56Speaker 1: just gets out of the car with a baby in
- 22:57Speaker 1: her arms. She knew she was pregnant. They couldn't have said, like,
- 23:00Speaker 1: could you bring the car seat to the hospital.
- 23:03Speaker 2: Weird.
- 23:03Speaker 1: And second, the final scene is like a one year
- 23:08Speaker 1: later scene and the baby's there, and the baby is
- 23:11Speaker 1: still wrapped up like a newborn. Like she's like cradling
- 23:14Speaker 1: it like a new but there's no one year old
- 23:16Speaker 1: that's gonna let you carry it swaddled down the beach.
- 23:19Speaker 1: And then when they're in front of the Turtles, the
- 23:20Speaker 1: baby like pops its head up out of the wrap,
- 23:23Speaker 1: like it's maybe a one year old. But I was like,
- 23:28Speaker 1: just leave the baby at home. At this point, this
- 23:30Speaker 1: is throwing me off. And then you'd be like, who's
- 23:33Speaker 1: watching the baby? I don't think I would be. Okay,
- 23:37Speaker 1: the swaddled baby that's one year old is a little
- 23:39Speaker 1: odd to me.
- 23:40Speaker 2: It was weird. That whole scene was weird. They're all
- 23:43Speaker 2: wearing their matching Turtles shirts and Okay, where'd you rate
- 23:49Speaker 2: this movie? Three point two five stars? Oh? I gave
- 23:52Speaker 2: it three stars. So I feel like our listeners may
- 23:55Speaker 2: have let us down the wrong road here.
- 23:57Speaker 1: Oh you know, I this this is like a Hallmark
- 24:01Speaker 1: Hall of Fame movie. I saw that and I feel
- 24:05Speaker 1: like that's like a throwback to Hallmark past.
- 24:08Speaker 2: Well. I did a little research on Hallmark Hall of
- 24:10Speaker 2: Fame movies. They used to be aired on CBS. They
- 24:14Speaker 2: had a long standing relationship, and then it was CBS
- 24:17Speaker 2: said we're not doing that anymore, and I believe it
- 24:20Speaker 2: reruns to air. Yeah, right, so then I think they
- 24:23Speaker 2: were airing them on Hallmark. But it's been many years
- 24:25Speaker 2: since a movie has been deemed Hallmark Hall of Fame.
- 24:28Speaker 2: This was actually one of like the last Huh, how.
- 24:32Speaker 1: Does it get the Hallmark Hall of Fame distinction?
- 24:34Speaker 2: I don't have done. I have no idea.
- 24:36Speaker 1: All right, Well, all summer long, we are reviewing fan
