- 3:53October first, twenty twenty five. At the heart of local
- 3:57legend and folklore, is a very special tree that is
- 4:00said to bring either good luck or tragic curses to
- 4:03those who visit the legend a mystery of the Donkey
- 4:06Tree is at risk of being lost the future generations
- 4:09of Washington County. A group of concerned individuals from Washington
- 4:13and Nelson Counties are seeking help to preserve the legendary
- 4:17Donkey Tree on Valley Hill Road near Fredericktown. The tree
- 4:21is in poor health, nearly dead, and some local area
- 4:23of residents want to find a way to preserve this
- 4:26county landmark. There are multiple stories of how the tree,
- 4:30shaped like a donkey, complete with ears, nowt and mouth,
- 4:33came to be, but the one thing the stories all
- 4:36have in common, the tree is both cursed and blessed.
- 4:39Some say anyone who touches the tree will be cursed
- 4:42or even die, but it is also believed that placing
- 4:45an apple in the donkey's mouth brings good luck to
- 4:48the one brave enough to approach the tree and place
- 4:51the apple. Running an Internet search for the Donkey Tree
- 4:55brings up stories of the various legends surrounding it, and
- 4:58it appears on Google Maps the local landmarks. Local residents
- 5:02are reaching out for help to preserve the tree for
- 5:05future generations. Joe Bowley, who has a landscaping tree background,
- 5:09first brought the issue to light. Quote the tree is
- 5:13getting ready to fall. Bowling said, maybe we can cut
- 5:15some of the limbs back and save it, but I'm
- 5:17not sure I want to be the one to do
- 5:19that given the legends and stories. He said, quote, we
- 5:23are looking for someone with knowledge who can help us
- 5:25either save the tree in some way or preserve it
- 5:28for future generations end of quote. Bowling said. Terry Rosiski,
- 5:33who lives out a football field's length away from the tree,
- 5:36have contacted the Kentucky Forestry Division, who will be coming
- 5:39to look at the tree in early October. Quote. They
- 5:42looked at the pictures and are not very hopeful, she said.
- 5:46Rosiski said that the Forestry Division told her they may
- 5:49be able to may have been able to help had
- 5:51they been aware of the issue a couple years sooner. Nevertheless,
- 5:55experts are coming to inspect and evaluate the tree. Quote.
- 6:00I think it's cursed, but it is a positive place
- 6:02for me, Raziski said. She noted that one side of
- 6:05the tree still has life and a few leaves, despite
- 6:07the tree having been painted and stead of fire in
- 6:10the past. Quote it's so dead. She added, there's not
- 6:13much left and it is hollowed out. It is sad
- 6:16because it is sort of a meeting place for young
- 6:18people and I've gotten to meet a lot of kids
- 6:20there end of quote. Even if the life of the
- 6:23tree cannot be saved, area residents are hoping for some
- 6:26type of preservation of the tree or the location. Quote.
- 6:30It is part of the community. It means something to
- 6:32the people who live here, and to quote Raziski said,
- 6:37most tax rates will remain the same. By Jenna George,
- 6:40October one, twenty twenty five. On Friday, the Fiscal Court
- 6:46met for the second time this month, with the meeting
- 6:48covering plenty of tax rates throughout the county. Many jurisdictions
- 6:52presented their tax rate numbers for the year, and while
- 6:55most dropped, one was raised and two stayed the same.
- 6:59The Washington Maring County air Board raised the real estate
- 7:02tax rate from one point one zero zero to one
- 7:05point one four to four this year, while the Health
- 7:08Department's tax rate stayed the same from twenty twenty four
- 7:11to twenty twenty five. With a study two point two
- 7:14eighty eight alongside the City of Willisburg's real estate to
- 7:17Spray remaining at seven point five. The rest of the
- 7:21prevented numbers all decreased. The Extension services rate went from
- 7:25ten point two to nine point seven. Library real estate
- 7:29taxes fell from six point nine from last year seven
- 7:32point three. Fiscal Court's current rate is eight point zero,
- 7:36down from eight point one. The School of tax rate
- 7:38went from fifty eight point zero to fifty six point nine,
- 7:41and the City of Springsale dropped from fifteen point four
- 7:45to fourteen point one. In other news, the bid for
- 7:48the transfer station building was accepted, with the new owner
- 7:51winning the bids with a firm two hundred and six dollars,
- 7:55giving the county a small profit from the advertising pricing.
- 7:59After the previous burn ban has been continued had been
- 8:03continued at the last meeting. For now the ban has
- 8:06been lifted. There have been some hiccups in the process
- 8:09of the Emergency Services building move in, but there are
- 8:12still hopes everyone is able to get in and settle
- 8:14before the deadline and ribbon cutting. Lastly, after hearing some
- 8:18rumors of him possibly switching positions, Judge Graves reassures that

- 12:11Nelson County Sheriff chief deputy takes plea deal Pianera Brian
- 12:16will have awaid October Friday or October trial. After Friday's
- 12:20agreement by Peter W. Zabadi, Paxton Media grew of October first,
- 12:26twenty twenty five. Nelson County Sheriff's Deputy Brandon Brian accepted
- 12:32a plea deal Friday morning, reducing his charges in a
- 12:35whistle blower case filed against him by two detectives in
- 12:39the NCSO office. While Brian's boss, Sheriff, Ramon Pianeiras, had
- 12:44all charges against him dismissed with the move at Friday's
- 12:48pre trial conference, the top two officials in the Nelson
- 12:51County Sheriff's Office will now avoid an October twenty seventh
- 12:54trial in Nelson's Circuit Court, a case that was before
- 12:58a special Judge, A lease Givon spain Hour, a Bullet
- 13:01County Family Court judge appointed to hear the case. Brian
- 13:05and Pianora were accused of improperly selling vehicles confiscated as
- 13:09evidence in drug cases by detectives I Injustice and Will Purdham,
- 13:14who serve on the Greater Hardened County Narcotics Task Force,
- 13:18and for allegedly retaliating against the two detectives who filed
- 13:21a complaint against them with the Kentucky State Police. Spain
- 13:26Hour ruled that evidence did not support the retaliation charges
- 13:29against Pionora and Brian. The vehicles have been stored in
- 13:33an n CSO evidence warehouse on behalf of the Narcotics
- 13:36Task Force. With Friday's Please deal, Brian accepted guilty charges
- 13:40for two misdemeanor charges, including third degree forgeries. He will
- 13:45be forced to pay a one thousand dollars fine in
- 13:47court cost in the deal offered by Special Prosecutor Amanda
- 13:51Hernandez Troutman. The Bullet County Commonwealth Attorney appointed to try
- 13:55the case. Brian is also ordered to have no contact
- 13:59with Justice and Purdam, and violation of these conditions would
- 14:02result in contempt charges. Initially, Panorra and Brian were staring
- 14:07at several felony charges, including abuse of public trustfessed by deception,
- 14:12and official misconduct. Brian was also charged with second degree
- 14:16for a felony, but the plea jill produces that to
- 14:19a misdemeanor third degree forgery charge. The original charges could
- 14:24have carried jail times, but Brian and p Andora have
- 14:28sorry those sentence is not I don't think it was
- 14:32written exactly how it sounded it could have. I think
- 14:36they were trying to say it could have carried jail
- 14:39time if they had been convicted in court. According to
- 14:42the quote facts of the case felt out in Tornando's
- 14:45Troutman's plea offer, Brian sold three vehicles confiscated by the
- 14:49Narcotics Task Force privately to Dustin Aubury, bypassing Kentucky's statute
- 14:55calling for those vehicles to be auctioned off publicly. The
- 14:59plea offic are also indicted that Brian between January twenty
- 15:03twenty three and August twenty twenty four, signed off on
- 15:06dozens of vehicle inspection forms for Auberry and Sections that
- 15:10he had not actually completed. Nelson County Judge Executive Tim
- 15:14Hutchins issued a statement Tuesday on the matter, noting that
- 15:17his office does not have oversight as the Nelson County
- 15:20Sheriff's office, but that he had been receiving a number
- 15:23of inquiries about the case. Quote. The people of Nelson
- 15:27County deserve accountability and transparency from all public offices. Recent
- 15:31developments raise important questions about the internal operations of the
- 15:35Sheriff's office. Hutchins rowden oppressed belief quote. In response to
- 15:39these concerns, I have received correspondence in legal notices that
- 15:43appear aimed at discouraging or silencing criticism. I want to
- 15:47assure our communities that I will not be intimidated. MY
- 15:50commitment is to open government and to representing the interest
- 15:53of Nelson County. I will continue to serve with integrity
- 15:57and transparency, regardless of outside pressure. End of quotes. County
- 16:04post tenth lowest jobless rate in the state. By Jane
- 16:07Reid Climb October first, twenty twenty five, Washington County remains
- 16:13well below the state unemployment rate. For August twenty twenty five,
- 16:20reporting the tenth lowest rate in the Commonwealth. Unemployment rates
- 16:24fell in one hundred nineteen counties and rose in only
- 16:27one county between August twenty twenty four and August twenty
- 16:31twenty five. According to the Kentucky Center for Statistics k
- 16:35y Stats, an agency within the Kentucky Education and Labor Cabinet,
- 16:40Washington County recorded a rate of three point eight percent
- 16:43for August twenty twenty five, as compared to five point
- 16:46zero percent for July twenty twenty four. The rate was
- 16:50also noticeably lower than that recorded in August twenty twenty four,
- 16:54when the rate was four point seven percent. The Kentucky
- 16:57rate for August twenty twenty five was four zero point
- 17:00three percent. In August twenty twenty four, the state recorded
- 17:03a rate of five point three percent. In addition to
- 17:07being well below the state average, Washington County again posted
- 17:10the lowest rate in the Lincoln Trail Area Development District.
- 17:14Woodford County recorded the lowest jobless rate in the Commonwealth
- 17:17at three point five percent. It was followed by Fayette
- 17:21and Scott County's three point six percent, and Cumberland, Harris
- 17:25and Kenton, Oldham, Shelby and Todd Counties three point seven percent.
- 17:30Washington County followed closely at three point eight percent to
- 17:33tie for the tenth lowest rate. Martin County recorded the
- 17:37state's highest unemployment rate at eight point eight percent. It
- 17:41was followed by Mcgoffin County eight point one percent, and
- 17:44then Elliott and Wood County's seven percent. Kentucky's county unemployment
- 17:50rates and employment levels are not seasonally adjusted because of
- 17:53small sample devices. Employment statistics undergo sharp punctuations due to
- 17:58seasonal events such as weather changes, harvests, holidays and school openings,
- 18:03and clothing. Seasonal adjustments eliminate these influences and make it
- 18:07easier to observe statistical trends. The comparable unadjusted unemployment rate
- 18:12for the state was five point six percent for July
- 18:15twenty twenty five, and four point six percent of the nation.
- 18:19Unemployment statistics are based on estimates and are not compiled
- 18:22to measure trends rather than actually to count people working
- 18:26the day. They should only be compared to the same
- 18:28months in previous years. Cornerstone Christian host Festival of Tents

- 22:31leaving the first quarter empty as the score started and
- 22:34finished at a tough oh to oh. It wasn't until
- 22:37the second stands, though, when the Lions managed to break
