Transcript
- 0:15Speaker 1: Welcome back to a podcast.
- 0:16Speaker 2: Today, we are doing an author grab bag from user
- 0:20E A p A tbp A KA Gabby on our
- 0:25slash No Sleep. She has the most popular story, most
- 0:29upvoted story on our slash No Sleep, and we it
- 0:31finally is coming around. Also the title of it, my
- 0:34sugar Daddy asked me for weird favors. I love how
- 0:37that's the most up voted story, which makes sense. Yeah,
- 0:43but the titles here on some on her most popular
- 0:46stories are just fucking awesome. My sugar Daddy asked me
- 0:49for weird favors. We're reading. Every month a parade would
- 0:52pass through my hometown, but we were never allowed to
- 0:53look at it.
- 0:54Speaker 3: Hello.
- 0:54Speaker 2: And then lastly, there's a man who follows me around
- 0:57and narrates my life. And he started to say some
- 0:59unsettling thing I love, And you know that I love
- 1:02you know that. I know that you know that I
- 1:04love stories like this that have.
- 1:07Speaker 1: That nice kick of the nuts title.
- 1:10Speaker 2: You know what I mean? Just something immediately like ooh, hello,
- 1:13I'm windows shopping already, I'm sneaking. My hands are pressed
- 1:17against the glass, and I'm like, hello, what's in there?
- 1:19I'd love to read what you have.
- 1:21Speaker 4: And also like, you know, we gotta read this one.
- 1:23We read so many no Sleep stories. And if you
- 1:25go to no Sleep and sort by top and of
- 1:27all time, your number one is my sugar Daddy asks
- 1:30for weird favors like that sounds like a Hunter formula
- 1:34if I've ever heard one.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Oh baby, I love I love it.
- 1:38Speaker 2: I love the idea too, of because I feel like
- 1:42this could also just be a regular Reddit post and
- 1:44it would still be just as horrifying. So I'm really
- 1:47curious to see, like, does it slip into the paranormal,
- 1:52does it slip into like, you know, all these like
- 1:54other kind of like non normal conventions, or is it
- 1:57just going to be a really sleazy man either or
- 2:01it's going to be disgusting.
- 2:02Speaker 1: And I love that.
- 2:03Speaker 4: I'm excited it's going to be brutal. Whatever it is,
- 2:05I'm certainly excited for it too. So you can check
- 2:08out the author EA peaked EEP. I feel like there's
- 2:11an easier way to say this. I can't figure out
- 2:13EP had a big e A P A T be P.
- 2:18Their link will be in the description. They seem to
- 2:20be kind of No Sleep Royalty because everything they post
- 2:25like blows up, gets a ton of up votes, so
- 2:28hopefully this is cool.
- 2:29Speaker 1: It seems like.
- 2:29Speaker 2: They have like a really dedicated fan base on ur
- 2:33slash No Sleep, which is pretty sick. I mean, even
- 2:35stuff that's come out this year, thousands of votes, which
- 2:38you know, we're past the I would say, the heyday
- 2:42of our slash No Sleep. So to still get that
- 2:44kind of engagements really cool, and I think that it
- 2:48just goes to show that there is some kind of
- 2:51reader base that is there with them. So as always
- 2:54where we have the link of the description, not only
- 2:57of the YouTube video but the online like Spotify, Apple podcast,
- 3:01wherever you're listening is we will be having some kind
- 3:04of link to make sure you get that engagement there
- 3:06and go support the reader or the authors because they
- 3:10are the lifeblood of the show.
- 3:12Speaker 4: They are they are and they are They're the only
- 3:15reason this train keeps sticking.
- 3:17Speaker 1: And also, I mean, it's cool work, so always support
- 3:19cool work. Now listen to this hunter.
- 3:23Speaker 4: I didn't realize this until we started looking at the
- 3:25top of all time on No Sleep. Okay, so first
- 3:27place is this one, the Sugar Diddy one right right.
- 3:30Second place is my wife has been peeking at me
- 3:32from around Corners Classic on that one. Third is something
- 3:36walks whistling past my house every night. Done that one,
- 3:40we haven't done the fourth one she sold my happiness
- 3:43and glass jars.
- 3:46Speaker 1: Or she sold happiness in class jars.
- 3:49Speaker 2: That's you know, I immediately thought of that meme where
- 3:51it's like you put the figurine in the glass jar
- 3:53and you fill it with with grum.
- 3:56Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:56Speaker 4: Yeah, so we haven't done that one. I'm just gonna
- 4:01ignore what you've said. We haven't done that one. The
- 4:04fifth one is called a Shattered Life, but it's by User.
- 4:07I'm pretty sure we've read one of his stories M
- 4:09fifty nine gar. But then after that, six is my
- 4:12job is watching a woman trapped in a room? Seven
- 4:15is I'm a search and rescue officer for the US
- 4:17four Service, which is the stairs in the woods. We
- 4:20need to and I want to put this out. We've
- 4:22covered a lot of the top one. Eight is the
- 4:24Glenn Moont Metro.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Yeah, so we've covered quite a bit of him. Then,
- 4:28which this is the first time I think we've ever
- 4:30actually gone to like our slash no sleeping, Like what
- 4:32is the top story we were talking about that today
- 4:34we found this one. We were looking through her profile.
- 4:37All of the names of the stories are fucking awesome.
- 4:39She's like super active in the storytelling community. I think
- 4:42that's great. And we were talking about this before too.
- 4:46We have got to redo Stairs in the Woods in
- 4:50the way that we do it now.
- 4:51Speaker 4: Like the first episode of the show, it was just
- 4:54kind of talking about the story.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:56Speaker 2: Yeah, it was more so us just being like, then
- 4:58this happens, instead of just reading it and reacting to it.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Well, we thought at the.
- 5:02Speaker 4: Time, We're like, surely no one's gonna sit down listen
- 5:07to us read an entire story.
- 5:08Speaker 2: That I was like, people are gonna think this is
- 5:12so boring, And then that became the thing that people
- 5:14wanted more than anything. So that is one story I
- 5:16would love to uh read, get like a proper reading.
- 5:22Speaker 1: I think that should be our two year anniversary.
- 5:24Speaker 2: I think, Yeah, I mean we're coming up on it
- 5:26here in you know, four or five months or so.
- 5:30Speaker 4: And there's a lot of other parts to the series now,
- 5:32so we could cover the whole thing.
- 5:34Speaker 1: And I also know the author.
- 5:36Speaker 4: We work together in a bunch of projects, so I'm
- 5:39sure they would they'd be happy for it. I can
- 5:42figure out specifically like how many parts we should read,
- 5:47or like what would be canon, what isn't canon?
- 5:50Speaker 1: Stuff like that. So I think that'd be a good
- 5:52two year anniversary.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Yeah, I think so too. But as always, guys, be
- 5:55sure to check out e A p a tbp on
- 5:59Reddit for all the new stories that she posts. Also,
- 6:03we will leave links and stories to these specific stories,
- 6:05but feel free to just redirect and check out their
- 6:08whole catalog because they are very active and it's pretty sick.
- 6:11I think that's awesome. But without further ado, why don't
- 6:14we start off.
- 6:14Speaker 5: With the top rated, top up.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Voted story on our slash No Sleep. My sugar daddy
- 6:20asked me for weird favors.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Let's get into it.
- 6:23Speaker 4: Be sure to continue to support us on Spotify YouTube
- 6:26all that it means a lot. We are now what
- 6:29we're like tenth place in the world something on Spotify

- 6:40the mix of the Joe Rogan's the theo vughs.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Oh Hunter Hunter. We're nine right now, we're nine.
- 6:47Speaker 3: We're nine, why not number one?
- 6:49Speaker 1: We start?
- 6:50Speaker 4: We're ahead of Tucker Carlson. We're two spots behind Caller Daddy.
- 6:54Speaker 2: We got to see Caller Daddy. It was once talked
- 6:57to us. Now it's evolving.
- 7:00Speaker 4: Do you remember we hit number one for a day
- 7:03last year on Spotify? Was we got notified about it
- 7:06during our rap that we hit There was no notification,
- 7:09No one told us anything, but we were number one
- 7:11in the world for a day and no one said anything.
- 7:14Speaker 1: We wurned out till the end of the year for.
- 7:16Speaker 2: A brief, brief moment, and god damn it, you guys
- 7:19can help us go there again.
- 7:21Speaker 4: It was like I've been wearing twenty six. There's something
- 7:24just completely random.
- 7:25Speaker 2: It was the.
- 7:26Speaker 1: Roos a random day.
- 7:26Speaker 2: I don't know why it would happened that day, but
- 7:28I'll tell you this right now. Everybody we have, I
- 7:31dare I say the strongest most dedicated fan base of
- 7:34podcast out there on the internet. Shout it from the
- 7:39rooftops and the comment sections. The amount of interaction and
- 7:42love in the comments is fucking unbelievable, and that's why
- 7:46I love you all so much. Thank you for making
- 7:49the show a reality. A possibility, and for us to
- 7:52even be in the top ten of podcasts. You know,
- 7:55you can't even believe how giddy we are and how
- 7:57lucky we feel. So please know that it never goes unnoticed.
- 8:00Speaker 4: We love you all, appreciate you guys very much. Well,
- 8:03without further ado, let's go ahead and get into it.
- 8:05My sugar daddy asks me for weird favors.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Me, sugar Daddy asked me for weird fivores.
- 8:12Speaker 1: Well, I know how to feel about that accent.
- 8:14Speaker 2: I don't like it either.
- 8:15Speaker 1: Okay.
- 8:17Speaker 4: His tender profile said he was forty five, but he
- 8:20looked to be in his early thirties at most. Looking
- 8:22for a sugar baby seven hundred dollars a weekly, no sex.
- 8:26Oh that's so funny, Hunter, that's the same thing that, uh,
- 8:28you know, I saw when you first messaged me.
- 8:30Speaker 2: God, talk about an unbelievable deal. A sugar a sugar baby,
- 8:34seven hundred dollars weekly and no and no scrum, no grum,
- 8:38no scrum.
- 8:39Speaker 1: How great is that you would do it in a heartbeat?
- 8:41Speaker 2: Oh my god, oh God, instantaneously I'd be like, I'd
- 8:45even do a little grum, a little scrumble over rum.
- 8:50I be your little barticle on the bottom of your boat.
- 8:52Why not scrape me off?
- 8:55Speaker 4: Daddy even not even want to picture what that what
- 9:02that act would translate into what the barnacle might mean.
- 9:05Speaker 1: We're just gonna keep sticky and I'm spread out and
- 9:08I'm stuck. Okay, joke, okay, okay, all right, all right.
- 9:14Speaker 4: The part I was mostly making fun of you four
- 9:16was the part where it says you're actually forty five,
- 9:17but you look in your early thirties, so oh good, yes.
- 9:21Speaker 2: Well, I am a youthful man for my age.
- 9:23Speaker 4: Of course, sounded too good to be true. But as
- 9:26a broken university student broken not bro broke, broke, I just.
- 9:32Speaker 1: I can't do it anymore.
- 9:33Speaker 4: It's sounded too good to be true, but as a
- 9:35broke university student, I was willing to take my chances.
- 9:38Speaker 1: Swiped right and tender let me know it was a match.
- 9:41His message came seconds later, Hey, this sweetheart. I cringed
- 9:45at that word.
- 9:46Speaker 4: I hated it, but seven hundred dollars was seven hundred dollars,
- 9:49so I sucked it up and replied, Hey, his name
- 9:53was Jack, and he told me he owned his own business,
- 9:55although he never specified what kind of business it was.
- 9:59We talked for a while all before he asked for
- 10:01my VENMO send me the first pavement. After a few minutes,
- 10:04I got the notification. I stared at the seven hundred
- 10:07dollars for at least twenty minutes, expecting to wake up
- 10:09from a dream at any second.
- 10:11Speaker 1: But it wasn't a dream.
- 10:12Speaker 2: You're still there. I clicked on the message, Yeah, sorry,
- 10:16if you don't mind me asking what are you looking for?
- 10:19In return?
- 10:20Speaker 1: Stared at the chat until he replied.
- 10:22Speaker 2: I'm just looking for you to do a few favors
- 10:24for me.
- 10:24Speaker 1: It sounded like it was going to be sexual to me.
- 10:28Speaker 2: Like, what, for example, the first thing I need to
- 10:31do is pick up a delivery for me.
- 10:33Speaker 4: That sounded innocent enough, but I was still expecting there
- 10:36to be some kind of twist. Seven hundred dollars to
- 10:38pick up a package. Come on, even I wasn't that
- 10:41naive from the.
- 10:42Speaker 2: Post office or something. No, I'll send you the address.
- 10:47I'd rather not do this or tender you got Kick? Well,
- 10:51can he give me a number?
- 10:53Speaker 1: Kick? What is this? Twenty eleven?
- 10:55Speaker 4: I decided to give him my number instead, and he
- 10:57texted me the address immediately. By the address to his house,
- 11:01where I would have to drop off the package.
- 11:03Speaker 2: I'm not home right now, but there's a key on
- 11:05the bottom of the blue flower pot near the door.
- 11:08Go inside and put the package on the coffee table
- 11:10in the in the living room. Make sure that you
- 11:13lock the door when you go inside the house, and
- 11:15then lock it again when you leave.
- 11:17Speaker 4: I would immediately assume I was going to be kidnapped
- 11:20and murdered.
- 11:20Speaker 2: Murder, of course, almost questionantaneously, I'd be like, no, sir,
- 11:25but I'd keep the seven hundred. I'd say no, but thank.
- 11:27Speaker 4: You, thank you to get some every time.
- 11:35Speaker 2: Thank you, Daddy, is what i'd say, just like that.
- 11:38Speaker 4: I feel like this is how you approached women before.
- 11:43This just feels fitting.
- 11:44Speaker 2: I called women, daddy, Thank you daddy.
- 11:46Speaker 1: Well that too, that too as well, but mostly the
- 11:49like that's going to be a package pot.
- 11:54Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, the classic blue flower pot. My
- 12:00car keys wallet, and got in my car, put in
- 12:02the address in a Google Maps, got it on my way.
- 12:05My phone buzzed as I backed out of the driveway.
- 12:07Speaker 2: I'm serious, locked the door both times. Please.
- 12:12Speaker 4: I thought that was a little excessive, but I promised
- 12:14him that I would the house looked abandon, had a
- 12:17broken chain link fence around it, with a small door
- 12:19that was hanging onto deer life stuck out like a
- 12:22sore thumb, trying to buy houses that were a lot
- 12:24nicer than this one.
- 12:25Speaker 2: In comparison, you have inject shit.
- 12:27Speaker 4: I looked up to see a man standing in the
- 12:29open doorway of the house. He took up almost the
- 12:31entire space, his head skimming the top of the doorframe.
- 12:35He was huge in height and muscles. His entire torso
- 12:38was covered in tattoos.
- 12:40Speaker 2: Uh yeah, I guess.
- 12:42Speaker 1: I replied, not moving from my spot on the sidewalk.
- 12:45Speaker 2: Stay right there.
- 12:46Speaker 1: I did. Actually, I don't.
- 12:48Speaker 4: Think I would have moved if he had asked me to.
- 12:50Looked around and realized that there was no one else
- 12:52on the street. I was a twenty one year old
- 12:55woman alone in the street. I greit my car keys.
- 12:58A few minutes later, the man came back back out
- 13:00carrying a cardboard box. It was about the size of
- 13:02a shoe box, but stained and damp on some.
- 13:05Speaker 1: Of the corners.
- 13:05Speaker 2: Could you open your car?
- 13:07Speaker 4: I opened the trunk, not wanting that inside of my
- 13:10car seats, and he set it in.
- 13:12Speaker 2: All right there, you go thanks.
- 13:14Speaker 1: I walked around to the driver's side of the car
- 13:16and opened the door.
- 13:17Speaker 2: Oh and one more thing.
- 13:18Speaker 1: I looked at him, watch out. I didn't reply.
- 13:21Speaker 4: A blasted my music as I drove to Jack's house,
- 13:23hoping it would drown out my anxiety.
- 13:26Speaker 1: It didn't.
- 13:26Speaker 4: I parked my car in the stone driveway and stayed
- 13:28inside the car, admiring the house. It was a huge
- 13:32house with stone pillars on the front porch and the
- 13:35greenish grass I had ever seen in my life. I
- 13:38turned the car off and got out, grabbed the package,
- 13:41walked to the front door, getting the key from where
- 13:43he said it would be, opened the door, and stepped in,
- 13:45closing it behind me. I thought about what he had
- 13:48said about locking the door when I got inside. I
- 13:50thought that was a little overboard, But as I stared
- 13:53at the closed door, something made me reach out and
- 13:55lock it. Walked inside, my feet cushioned by the thick
- 13:58moroom carpet, and admired the inside the house. All the
- 14:01furniture was wooden and looked incredibly expensive. I would probably
- 14:04finish school a dozen times with the money that it
- 14:07took to furnish this place. Set the package down on
- 14:09the coffee table. As I walked back to the door,
- 14:12I heard a phone rnking from somewhere inside the house.
- 14:16My froze in my pocket, my phone buzzed. Took it
- 14:20out to a look.
- 14:21Speaker 2: Don't answer any calls that aren't from Marvin.
- 14:24Speaker 4: Put my phone back and followed the sound of the
- 14:26phone poking my head into a different rooms before I
- 14:29found it in an office. I walked over to the
- 14:31desk and looked at the caller ID incoming call from Jack.
- 14:36Speaker 1: That was odd.
- 14:37Speaker 4: I grabbed my phone to look at the message again.
- 14:40I was starting to get a little bit creeped out
- 14:41and decided I wouldn't answer, just to be safe.
- 14:44Speaker 1: Left the house, remembering to lock the door as I left. Okay, so.
- 14:50Speaker 4: He has her go to this place to pick up
- 14:52the package delivered to the house, lock the door both.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Times, but then she hears a phone ringing from.
- 14:58Speaker 4: Elsewhere in the house, and at the same time she
- 15:00gets the text on an answer call calls it aren't
- 15:03from Marvin. Do you think this is something supernatural? Do
- 15:06you think this is like some crime ring she's found
- 15:08herself connected to.
- 15:10Speaker 2: It's got to be some kind of crime ring. Here's
- 15:12the thing, too, He specifically went on tender and is
- 15:15looking for a woman to do this thing. Right, Yeah,
- 15:18that feels targeted.
- 15:21Speaker 4: So it feels like he's looking for someone who like
- 15:23what in a pure threatening you know.
- 15:26Speaker 1: She hasn't looked. She hasn't looked.
- 15:28Speaker 2: In the box yet either, which, assuming off of the
- 15:30stains in the corners, I mean, it's it's trying to
- 15:33be I think blood or some kind of gunk. I'm
- 15:36wondering if there's something in the house that is I like,
- 15:40it almost was like a feeding ritual or something. Drop
- 15:43the thing off, leave, make sure and lock both the doors,
- 15:45because when the thing comes out, if the doors aren't
- 15:47locked properly, it could get out. Where is kind of
- 15:51where my mind goes from it. But it's just the
- 15:54the her being like going specifically on tender looking for
- 15:58a woman, which is presumably you know, in the in
- 16:02the age range he wants probably like the look he
- 16:05wants what that that motive is still unclear to me.
- 16:09Speaker 4: If we're not looking at this as a no sleep storage.
- 16:12Just logistically I would expect this to be drugs. Like
- 16:14if I was the girl and it's like, oh, this
- 16:16rich guy wants me to drive to the bad part
- 16:18of town to leave something at his house. I would
- 16:20expect it to be like Heroin See.
- 16:23Speaker 2: I would think, if it's not the r slash no
- 16:25sleep thing, I would think that it's like hiding like
- 16:29a body part, just with the without how she described
- 16:32the bottom of the box so far, I would think, Oh,
- 16:34it's I feel like I'm covering up a crime in
- 16:38that way.
- 16:39Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, exactly, like you're I'm the middle man for something.
- 16:43Speaker 1: Yeah, same vibe.
- 16:44Speaker 2: Though, even if it's drugs, Like, yeah, like a middleman
- 16:46into some kind of thing where obviously someone doesn't want
- 16:49to be seen.
- 16:50Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, exactly. You need someone who can't shouldn't be
- 16:56tied back to you for the job.
- 16:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:58Speaker 1: I've done a few more favors for Jack since then.
- 17:01Speaker 4: I drove a BMW to a random park in another city,
- 17:04only to get out and drive a different car back
- 17:06to Jack's house. He had me meet one of his
- 17:09employees at lunch, who then gave me a briefcase to
- 17:11deliver to the first house I'd gone to and told
- 17:14me he would know if I looked inside. Several occasions,
- 17:18he asked me to drive down to the same house
- 17:20and stay with the guy whose same was Julio for
- 17:22a certain amount of time. In total, I've made around
- 17:24thirty five hundred dollars damn. Most recently, Jack asked me
- 17:28to stay in his house overnight. Woke up to a
- 17:31text message from.
- 17:32Speaker 2: Him, and you should just spend the night at my house.
- 17:34Speaker 4: I just got to say, by the way, this is
- 17:36the kind of ride or die every man needs. Just
- 17:39gets a text like, hey, take this car to the city,
- 17:42don't ask questions again the other one or here, drop
- 17:44this briefcase off somewhere, don't look at it.
- 17:46Speaker 2: I like the modive of like a twenty one year
- 17:48old girl, a twenty year old girl who's like, I'm
- 17:50getting paid more than any other job I ever had,
- 17:53Like it's like a very believable We'd be like, well,
- 17:56I don't know, man, I just drive a car here,
- 17:58and you really don't maybe like not trying to like
- 18:01pray too much because you don't want to ruin a
- 18:03good thing.
- 18:03Speaker 1: Right right.
- 18:04Speaker 4: Yeah, it's like, uh, you know, I'm making money. I
- 18:08need this money, so I'm not going to ask a
- 18:09lot of questions. And I like, also, I feel most
- 18:11of these stories would have the character be like, well,
- 18:13I have to look what's in it? Or I thought
- 18:15locking the door was stupid, so I didn't do that.
- 18:18But no, she's like, this is good money. I'm going
- 18:20to continue to make it.
- 18:21Speaker 2: I think it's also more believable that you don't look
- 18:24like an these situations that seem really odd. It's like
- 18:27what there's some like psychological tests where it's like people
- 18:30in grocery stores tend to not steal something because they
- 18:33feel like they're being watched or something. The idea of like, well,
- 18:36this is a trap, I'm being trapped, like it's too
- 18:38good for me to just take or whatever. So I
- 18:42when I was thinking about it, it's like the idea
- 18:44of wanting to But you're like, I bet you. This
- 18:46is such a weird predicament that I feel like, oh,
- 18:49the person has cameras on me or something. So I'm
- 18:51just gonna set it down and leave, you know, Like
- 18:54why rock the boat if you don't have to?
- 18:56Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, I mean, like, just if you have a
- 18:59good thing going, you have a good thing going. I
- 19:01take cybersecurity very seriously, so it frustrates me that Hunter doesn't.
- 19:06In an attempt to educate him on the matter, I
- 19:08have doxed his mother on multiple online platforms through a
- 19:11simple Google search, it was so easy to find her
- 19:14home address, phone number, and even her email address. And
- 19:17who knows what else is out there. So maybe now
- 19:19hunter will take protecting your privacy seriously. Maybe now he'll
- 19:23use today's sponsor. Or. It's scary how easy it is
- 19:26to Google someone and find their private information like home address,
- 19:29phone number, email address, and more. These sites are run
- 19:32by data brokers who collect your personal information, package it
- 19:36up and sell it to anyone who wants it, marketers, scammers,
- 19:39even identity thieves, all without your consent. These guys are
- 19:42printing money and it's.
- 19:43Speaker 1: Completely legal in America.
- 19:45Speaker 4: They're legally required to remove your info if you ask,
- 19:48but they bury the process in legal jargon and hoops,
- 19:50hoping you'll just give up. Or you can do what
- 19:53I do and use orga or identifies data brokers exposing
- 19:56your info and submits opt out requests on your behalf
- 20:00for a few weeks and you'll stop seeing your information
- 20:02on these sketchy sites when you search for yourself. Or
- 20:04It is so much more than just removing your name
- 20:07from a Google search, because it will also continuously monitor
- 20:10the dark web and alert me if they find my
- 20:12personal information exposed. They're gonna let me know fast if
- 20:15anyone tries to use this information to access my credit
- 20:17or bank accounts. I'm sure several of you are familiar
- 20:20with a very stupid decision I made lately where I
- 20:23fell for a scammer that may or may not have
- 20:26got access to my Twitter account mozoon. As this happened,
- 20:29I immediately got an AURA and sure enough, the email
- 20:31that was associated with that account was showing up in
- 20:34a lot of places I didn't want it to be.
- 20:35Speaker 1: And as soon as they showed.
- 20:36Speaker 4: Up, Or was already submitting an opt out request on
- 20:38my behalf, which took a huge load off my back.
- 20:41Plus they give me up to five million dollars in
- 20:43identity theft insurance should the worst happen. They also have

- 21:25We are now back to the episode. I hadn't ever
- 21:28seen him in person, but I had talked to him
- 21:31on the phone a few times. He proceeded to tell
- 21:33me he would pay me one thousand dollars to spend
- 21:35the night at his house, provided that I followed a
- 21:37few rules. Drove to his house that evening driveway was empty,
- 21:41and it normally was, but the porchlight was on, walked up,
- 21:45unlocked the door, went inside, then locked it again. Everything
- 21:48in the house looked the same. Jacket told me over
- 21:51the phone that he would leave the list of rules
- 21:52on the dining room table, set all my stuff down
- 21:55in the living room. My bags look like garbage compared
- 21:58to the fancy furniture in there. Into the kitchen, and
- 22:01then into the dining room. Sure enough, there was a
- 22:03piece of paper on the wooden table held down by
- 22:05an empty glass. Lock the door when you come in.
- 22:08Only answer calls from Marvin. Don't turn on any faucets
- 22:12between nine pm and eleven PM. Don't open the door
- 22:16for anyone, no matter who they say they are. After
- 22:19ten pm. If the door to the closet at the
- 22:22end of the hall is open, sleep in the library.
- 22:26If closed, sleep in any of the bedrooms. The gardener
- 22:31comes at midnight. If he starts knocking on the windows, hide,
- 22:34ooh fuck, turn the t that was kind of creepy.
- 22:38Speaker 1: Huh yeah. If he starts knocking on the windows, hide, yeah, yeah,
- 22:42what the.
- 22:42Speaker 2: Fuck, I'd be like, huh.
- 22:44Speaker 4: It's also like the gardener comes at midnight. It's like,
- 22:47I don't think that's a gardener. I don't think that's
- 22:49a standard. It's you turn the TV on and let
- 22:53it play on static through the night. Do not forget this.
- 22:57Help yourself to anything in the fridge.
- 22:59Speaker 1: I'll pay you in the morning. Good night.
- 23:03Speaker 2: Last two things I'd be like, oh ye, what, I.
- 23:08Speaker 1: Made sure to follow all the rules.
- 23:10Speaker 4: To be honest, I was regretting my decision, but seeing
- 23:12as I was already here and I was getting paid,
- 23:15I decided to stay anyway. I figured as long as
- 23:17I followed all the rules, I'd be perfectly fine. Still,
- 23:20it felt a little odd, what was this haunted house? Nevertheless,
- 23:25I lounged around the house for a few hours, so
- 23:27I was planning on going to sleep around nine, since
- 23:30that's the time that all the weird shit would begin
- 23:32to happen.
- 23:33Speaker 1: Nay fifty.
- 23:34Speaker 4: I brushed my teeth using the faucet for the last
- 23:36time before nine, checked the closet in the hallway, and
- 23:38upon seeing that it was open, I moved my stuff
- 23:40into the library and got ready to sleep on the couch.
- 23:43I locked doors just in case. Laid on the couch
- 23:46scrolling through my phone and I got any more messages
- 23:49from Jack, and I started to think up scenarios and
- 23:51reasons as to why he had such strict, peculiar sets
- 23:54of rules in this house. I had dozed off at
- 23:56some point, because exactly ten sixteen p I was woken
- 24:01up by the doorbell ringing about to get up to check.
- 24:04But then remember the rule, don't open the door for anyone,
- 24:08no matter who they say they are after ten pm.
- 24:11Stayed on the couch, try not to move, paranoid. They
- 24:14would hear even the slightest sound, it's the police.
- 24:18Speaker 2: Open up, did a move, Hello, it's the police.
- 24:24Speaker 4: I still did a move, but I could hear my
- 24:26heart beat in my ears. There's a silence for a
- 24:29while after that, then the doorbell ring again.
- 24:32Speaker 1: Hey it's Jack, Let me in.
- 24:35Speaker 4: Sounded like Jack still didn't get up. You would have
- 24:40a key, wouldn't he Why would he need me to
- 24:43let him in? This continued for almost a full hour.
- 24:46Different people would ring the doorbell, announce themselves, and then
- 24:49disappear when I didn't respond.
- 24:52Speaker 2: Anxiety, just sitting there and it's like, hey, it's me,
- 24:59open up, especially if it goes through different like like women, children,
- 25:04all kinds of stuff.
- 25:05Speaker 1: It's it's uh, that idea of been.
- 25:07Speaker 2: Going on for an hour is so long too.
- 25:10Speaker 1: I mean, because you know that.
- 25:13Speaker 4: What's actually standing there is like a giant who knows,
- 25:19who knows, like cannibal creature you've ever seen, like a giant.
- 25:23Speaker 1: Wind to go bees. And it's just like, hey, it's
- 25:25me Jack, you know me right?
- 25:27Speaker 2: Let me There's something there's just something so threatening about
- 25:30somebody who is just like somebody just lying straight to
- 25:34your face. Hey it's Jack, open up, and it's clearly
- 25:37something pretending to be other people is So it's just
- 25:41so threatening, and there's it's such a simple way, but
- 25:43it's such a good way to elicit fear.
- 25:45Speaker 1: What about that video I just sent you?
- 25:47Speaker 2: Let me see what if it is that one man
- 25:50one jar? What is this? Oh yeah, that's so fucking stupid.
- 26:03Speaker 1: I hated.
- 26:03Speaker 2: I hated this work so good for the story, Like.
- 26:11Speaker 4: The entity is flipping between all these like oh it's
- 26:15me your mom you know me, right, or it's like,
- 26:18oh it's me, it's cool then and then immediately back
- 26:24to like it's me Paul from the fifth grade. Remember
- 26:28we're friends, just like oops, so.
- 26:32Speaker 2: It's turned into my entire family, an anime character and
- 26:36a boy I knew in fifth grade? What is this
- 26:39creature outside my door?
- 26:43Speaker 1: It's made gocou and then nogging.
- 26:47Speaker 2: It's so creepy.
- 26:50Speaker 1: It's yeah, there's a minus into it, like let me in.
- 26:52Speaker 2: Also fucking wide in the door from you looks huge.
- 26:57I don't know why that got me the most. I
- 26:58was like Jesus Christ, Oh.
- 27:02Speaker 4: Gosh, Okay, yeah, so that's happening out front. The switching
- 27:08between voices is great. I love that at any story,
- 27:10any mimic creature in like a horror tale is awesome.
- 27:13Speaker 1: I like it.
- 27:13Speaker 2: Oh yeah, yeah, very uncanny, just odd.

- 28:43Speaker 4: I was finally able to fall asleep and the gardener
- 28:45never came. When I woke up the next morning, I
- 28:48heard someone in the kitchen. I got up slowly and
- 28:51unlocked the door as quietly as possible, taking my phone
- 28:54with me, walking across the living room and into the kitchen,
- 28:57stopped at the entrance and peered in. It was he
- 29:00was standing in front of the stove, stirring something as
- 29:02the coffee machine brewed coffee on the counter behind me.
- 29:05Speaker 1: Hey, good morning, he said when he saw me. Hi,
- 29:10I replied, nervous.
- 29:11Speaker 4: I hadn't seen him in person before, but he looked
- 29:13exactly like his pictures online. Scrambled eggs, Yeah, motioning to
- 29:17the pan with a wooden spoon.
- 29:19Speaker 1: Yeah, thanks, walking over.
- 29:20Speaker 4: To take the plate from him. I had my breakfast
- 29:22and drank some coffee in silence.
- 29:24Speaker 2: So how was it it? It was okay, nothing super
- 29:28freaky happened.
- 29:29Speaker 1: Cool. Such a jerk. The parzer through that great? There
- 29:36is an awkwardness in the room.
- 29:38Speaker 2: I think I'm gonna go now. I have class.
- 29:41Speaker 1: I didn't, but I really wanted to get out of there.
- 29:44Oh no, yeah, sure, I'll take you some other time.
- 29:47Speaker 4: Grab my stuff and he walked me to my car.
- 29:49I could see him standing in the driveway staring at
- 29:52me as I left. When I got home, I unpacked
- 29:54all my stuff and noticed that I still had the
- 29:56list with me. Sat on my bed and read it again.
- 29:59Felt my body tense up as I realize that I'd
- 30:02forgotten something. Turn the TV on and let it play
- 30:04on static through the night. Do not forget this. Turn
- 30:08the TV on and let it play on static through
- 30:10the night. Do not forget this, Do not forget this.
- 30:14Stared at the words on the page until they lost
- 30:16a meeting beside me. My phone buzzed, stamping me back
- 30:19to reality. It was the one thousand dollars payment. I
- 30:22looked at my phone and then back at the list.
- 30:24Maybe it wasn't an important step because I was thinking
- 30:27this over text from Jack came.
- 30:30Speaker 2: I'm not in town right now. Should be back next week,
- 30:33so you're free from running any more errands for me
- 30:35until then. Just at the payment, go do something fun.
- 30:38Mm hmmm, uh oh.
- 30:40Speaker 4: I stared at the message and read it again and
- 30:42again once more for good measure.
- 30:44Speaker 2: I'm not in down right now.
- 30:46Speaker 1: Thought back to this morning and how Jack was in
- 30:48the house, how he can't be breakfast.
- 30:50Speaker 2: I'm not in down right now.
- 30:52Speaker 4: Ten minutes a new text came in, this time from
- 30:54a number that I didn't recognize.
- 30:56Speaker 2: Did you forget to do something.
- 30:59Speaker 1: That?
- 31:01Speaker 4: The text was followed by a picture of Jack. Whoever
- 31:03this version of Jack was standing in front of the
- 31:06TV it respond Next came another picture, this one was
- 31:10of the outside of my house. It was followed by
- 31:12another text, watch out.
- 31:15Speaker 3: Ooh, and that's the ending.
- 31:17Speaker 1: That's fun. That's fun. That's good.
- 31:19Speaker 4: Yeah, it's a fun little like gut punch. I see
- 31:22why it did so well because the title works great
- 31:25at getting people to click on it. It's like, oh, what
- 31:27could this story be about? And it's it's short, it
- 31:30delivers on its seams. It also like the mention of
- 31:35like all the rules and then we hear if the
- 31:37gardener comes taps on the window and you know, don't
- 31:41answer it or hide from the windows, it's.
- 31:43Speaker 1: Like, yeah, that's creepy.
- 31:45Speaker 4: But then the gardener never came, so we don't even
- 31:47get to see what the gardener was.
- 31:49Speaker 1: What that looks like.
- 31:49Speaker 4: It kind of leaves the mystery in your mind and
- 31:51leaves the mystery at the end of what this mimic
- 31:53of Jack was probably the same creature that was outside
- 31:56trying to get in the night before, but because she
- 31:58forgot to turn off TV, like it was able to
- 32:00get inside. Maybe and now it's tracking her and like
- 32:04maybe this Jack figure she was talking to was like
- 32:06part of some occult group that was like that's aware
- 32:09of these creatures. Like there's so many different places you
- 32:11could take it in your mind, but from what the
- 32:12story gives us. It's so minimalist and it works well
- 32:15on everything it sets out to do. I understand why
- 32:17it's so highly rated. It was really good.
- 32:19Speaker 2: I feel like the Uncanny Valley is a is like
- 32:22the Internet's favorite form of horror.
- 32:25Speaker 1: Yes, of course, absolutely.
- 32:27Speaker 2: I think that being able to deliver on something like
- 32:30this is just it's so simple and fun. And I
- 32:35think that just the idea of doing these minimal, weird
- 32:38tasks and just having these like once again, Uncanny Valley
- 32:41kind of things.
- 32:43Speaker 1: And I got to ask when I was talking to you.
- 32:46Speaker 2: A little bit about this before we recorded, was the
- 32:49idea of rules enlist that feels like such a popular
- 32:54Like why do you think that's so popular in these stories?
- 32:57Speaker 1: Have you noticed that?
- 32:58Speaker 2: Like I was telling you so many the stories which
- 33:00it's like I worked at the station there was five rules,
- 33:03or I worked at this place, or I you know,
- 33:06I lived here, we had one rule. Why do you
- 33:09think rules like obviously besides the taboo or whatever, or
- 33:12you know, rules being broken or following things, And it's
- 33:15like maybe an easier archetype to write around where it's like, okay,
- 33:19well you had these rules and you didn't do X
- 33:22therefore this is gonna happen. Besides that, what do you
- 33:24think makes it so compelling for viewers? Because they always
- 33:27seem to be a part of the most I would say,
- 33:30like sought after stories too, Like even Left Right Game
- 33:33had that kind of thing. We have to do this
- 33:34these these sets of things, you know, structure that gives
- 33:38it to it. Why do you think that's so popular?
- 33:40Speaker 4: I think it's because it establishes, especially for short stories,
- 33:45it establishes these clear parameters of like this has to
- 33:51be followed or else, And it gives us two things.
- 33:54It's like, Okay, for one, why does this have to
- 33:56be followed? Why does this keep the thing we're talking
- 33:58about it bay? And also what is the or else?
- 34:00What can happen? So it gives you two options that
- 34:02immediately hearing that you step into a place and there's
- 34:05a list of like supernatural rules, it gives you already
- 34:09enough tools to start to piece together lore in your
- 34:12mind to be like, what are these creatures you know
- 34:15and whatever I think they are? Why does this set
- 34:18of rules hold them back? Why is this enough to
- 34:20beat them? So it's just an easy way I think,
- 34:23to flesh out a story or at least let people
- 34:25flesh it out in their own minds very quickly, but
- 34:28just kidding. Like, for example, if Hunter, I was like, hey, Hunter,
- 34:32when you get into your car the next time today,
- 34:35be sure to like turn it on, turn it back off,
- 34:40turn it back on. It's like, Okay, why, like what
- 34:42did I do to the car? And also why does
- 34:45that stop whatever was done to the car? Yeah, I
- 34:48think it. Is it a lie in the first place?
- 34:50Is it just a superstition to make you go somewhere else?
- 34:53Speaker 1: Like it?
- 34:54Speaker 4: It creates so many questions with just a basic questions
- 34:58I think.
- 34:59Speaker 2: I think, yeah, tension and anticipation as well of like
- 35:03it's almost like being at your friend's house and you're
- 35:06too loud at night, or like you drop something and
- 35:08you're like waiting for one of the parents to like
- 35:10yell at you, like go to bed or something. There
- 35:13is just it's a simple way of really establishing a
- 35:17set of parameters and like a war like rules of
- 35:20the world that when broken, it's going like some shit's
- 35:23gonna stir. And I think it just lets you kind
- 35:25of be once again a bit ambiguous, or it lets
- 35:27you kind of like really ramp into like maybe more
- 35:31interesting concepts without having to like justify shit. It's just like, well,
- 35:34you broke the rule, therefore this is happening now.
- 35:37Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, this thing happened.
- 35:38Speaker 4: Uh oh, you know it's a what's the one from
- 35:41Mandela Cattalog You shouldn't have done that, Mark, Yeah.
- 35:45Speaker 1: Bad decision.
- 35:46Speaker 2: Oh sorry Mark. Oh okay, Well let's move into the
- 35:49next one here, which is every month of that raid.
- 35:52Speaker 4: That was pretty good. I also kept it together. I
- 35:55was about to start laughing. I kept it together at
- 35:57the end when she was looking at the piece of
- 35:59paper and it's like I've done something bad and she's
- 36:01repeating the lines just in my head.
- 36:03Speaker 1: It's like there was a knock at the door. I
- 36:05look over and go, Ko.
- 36:07Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, Hey, what's up, slucker.
- 36:14Speaker 1: Hey, it's me Goku. I'm gonna take you, Nimbus Cloud.
- 36:17It's me Goku. Come on. Yeah, well I just kept that.
- 36:21Speaker 2: It's funny you said that too, because I just kept
- 36:23hearing that the knocking.
- 36:27Speaker 5: I gotta find the dragon balls.
- 36:31Speaker 4: Like you're four feet from the doors. You can see
- 36:34him clearly. He's just like make an eye contact.
- 36:37Speaker 2: Like.
- 36:39Speaker 1: It's me Goku, me Goku.
- 36:43Speaker 2: I'd love to see an edit of that, instead of
- 36:45him saying it's Goku. After that, it's him like doing
- 36:47the power up. Sounds like he's buying the door, but
- 36:52then there's still the knocking it in there, so he's
- 36:54like like that kind.
- 37:02Speaker 1: Of thing, the power energy.
- 37:05Speaker 2: It's all muffled through thoseide the door, but still there's
- 37:07the just the nice knock.
- 37:09Speaker 4: I love the idea of like normal people come into
- 37:11this podcast because they're like, oh, they're covering horror.
- 37:13Speaker 1: Stories and I'm really into literature. I'll listen, and then
- 37:16it's like we were just Goku. Hey, it's me Goku.
- 37:22Speaker 4: Yeah all right, anyway, are we ready to move into
- 37:27our next story for this author?
- 37:29Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 37:29Speaker 2: We are so. Like I said, the second uh story
- 37:34we're reading from Gabby is every month the parade would
- 37:37pass through my hometown, but we were never allowed to
- 37:39look at it, which I want to say. I was
- 37:41talking with a friend the other day just about like
- 37:45even like Halloween parades and stuff, and he was like,
- 37:49you know, oh, in my town, there's like a nice parade,
- 37:52and I was telling him I was like, oh, I
- 37:54really wish that we because when I was younger, there
- 37:56used to be way more parades or like you know,
- 37:58you'd go into your town and do more commune things.
- 38:00But it seems so weird now, doesn't it. Like if
- 38:02you told someone younger that, they'd probably be like, why
- 38:05the fuck would I go do that? That sounds lame
- 38:08like it, Like, I'm yeah, stories some reasons, Yeah yeah,
- 38:13well yeah, I'm sure not you know, not all encompassing,
- 38:16but I would say I would say a majority. But
- 38:18stories like this makes you think, like just as like
- 38:21an older person that you know, like just seeing this
- 38:24parade or whatever and then seeing this title like you
- 38:25were never allowed to look at it. It almost feels
- 38:27like you have like a repressed memory or something. We're
- 38:30gonna be like, oh shit, did I even look at it?
- 38:32Like I love, I love a title like this. It's
- 38:35just there's there's something that hits so close to home.
- 38:37I think with this with just like the title.
- 38:40Speaker 4: Yeah, it works like, well, you know, this is actually
- 38:44kind of similar to like the whole thing you were
- 38:45asking with rules, where it's like in the title alone
- 38:49where it says but we were never allowed to look
- 38:51at it. It's like, okay, why what is the parade
- 38:53that I can't look at it? Why does not looking
- 38:56at it stop whatever it is or keeps it from
- 38:58affecting me. So it creates a lot of questions with
- 39:01one point, which I think is one of the reasons
- 39:03the whole rule ideas. So why so many people latch
- 39:07onto it and like online?
- 39:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean there's probably a sense, there's probably like
- 39:12justification that there's probably rules in everything, But it was
- 39:15more so like, man, there was just so many stories
- 39:18I was looking at where it's like, yeah, a very
- 39:21typical one was like I worked at X place I
- 39:24was given like and they had weird rules.
- 39:26Speaker 1: It was just that kind of vibe.
- 39:28Speaker 2: There were so many, but yeah, I don't know, I
- 39:31just found it kind of interesting. It also seemed to
- 39:34all the stories were written around the same time, to
- 39:36where that might have just been like a popular archetype
- 39:39at the time too.
- 39:40Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean it was.
- 39:41Speaker 4: I mean we see that this one, the Sugar Daddy
- 39:43one was top rated on No Sleeps. A lot of
- 39:45writers probably just went and was like, okay, rules, got it.
- 39:48Speaker 1: That's what I mean. Probably we're gonna do this.
- 39:51Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, exactly, it's a good chance, all right.
- 39:55Speaker 1: So hmm.
- 39:57Speaker 4: I've lived in Arizona for the past fifteen years of
- 39:59my life. But I had a very different life before that.
- 40:02I used to live in a small town in the
- 40:04middle of nowhere. I couldn't even tell you what side
- 40:07of the country it's on, or if it even is
- 40:09in the United States.
- 40:10Speaker 1: It was I think you could tell that I live
- 40:15in Arizona.
- 40:15Speaker 2: What are you talking about? I couldn't even tell you
- 40:17what side of the country it's on, or even in
- 40:18the United States. I have understood what they're saying that.
- 40:21Speaker 4: Before Arizona, Before Arizona, Oh, I had a very different life.
- 40:25Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like I could tell you because I say,
- 40:27it's like, okay, well, yeah, they're just a small Illinois.
- 40:32Speaker 4: Is this Saudi Arabia? I can't tell or it looks
- 40:35the same. It was a small forest town with dench
- 40:39trees in all directions. But where exactly this particular force is, well,
- 40:43your guess is as good as mine. The only thing
- 40:46I know for certain is the name of the town,
- 40:48Point Pine. I lived in Point Pine for the first
- 40:51ten years of my life before we moved summer after
- 40:54my tenth birthday. Once we left, my parents never spoke
- 40:58of it again. In fact, the act is if it
- 41:00never even existed to them. I guess it didn't. I'll
- 41:03really blame them either, Okay, ma'am. I I keep mushmouthing
- 41:07today because I had as before we start recorded, I
- 41:10had a milkshake and it just like completely froze my lips.
- 41:13So anytime I have to say like two consonants back
- 41:16to back, it's rough.
- 41:18Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 41:18Speaker 2: I don't really fat lips like that would be hard
- 41:21to throw around if you can't feel them.
- 41:25Speaker 1: That felt oddly.
- 41:27Speaker 2: No, I'm just saying that if you had giant, fat,
- 41:29fucking lips like you do, and they get all numbed
- 41:32up and frozen, yeah, i'd probably be like to be
- 41:35like a bunch of down pillows being thrown around.
- 41:38Speaker 4: You're probably talking about me throwing my lips around.
- 41:41Speaker 1: Feels very suggestive.
- 41:44Speaker 2: I'm just saying, and I'm not even saying it, but
- 41:46I'm just saying that if you had large fat I mean,
- 41:50like like your lips could be considered morbidly obese.
- 41:54Speaker 1: You know my wife.
- 41:56Speaker 4: You know my wife loves these lips. Actually, big fan,
- 41:59big fan, you can ask her.
- 42:00Speaker 2: Well, I feel is kind of inappropriate to me, but
- 42:03I'm not going to.
- 42:04Speaker 1: I'm not gonna.
- 42:05Speaker 4: So now I'm the one being improve and I'm the
- 42:06one being inappropriate. We haven't addressed that that drawing you
- 42:09made of me on the show yet, that you decided
- 42:12to do a piece about me, and it was it.
- 42:16Speaker 1: The lips are so big.
- 42:17Speaker 4: Not only did they take up my entire tour so
- 42:20but they lay over my shoes and are like.
- 42:23Speaker 1: They hang out to the sides like drapery. I thought
- 42:27you would have liked it. Okay.
- 42:28Speaker 4: I was at a waffle house and a guy walked
- 42:31up to me and said, is this you?
- 42:32Speaker 1: And held up that picture? It's true?
- 42:34Speaker 2: Did you say yes?
- 42:37Speaker 1: I said? I said, I said, I don't know. I said,
- 42:39I don't know what that picture. You probably said this.
- 42:42Speaker 2: You probably said, oh, and you're like, so just duik
- 42:45o Bilk should whip.
- 42:48Speaker 1: Cut Hogue.
- 42:49Speaker 2: That's probably what you said.
- 42:51Speaker 1: I said, I don't know who that is. I don't
- 42:52know what you're talking about.
- 42:53Speaker 4: But whoever drew that picture should probably someone should probably
- 42:56call his local FBI hotline and should probably report him
- 43:00for certain threats he has made towards certain people, especially
- 43:03political figures.
- 43:05Speaker 2: I also just realized I should be done about it,
- 43:07But I don't know how that is. I loved how
- 43:08child this year sentence was too when you're just like
- 43:11I kind of a lab it. I drunk. I drunk
- 43:12a milkshake. I know, it's like my mouths are all
- 43:14lived up and it's a weird numb. I can't every
- 43:18time I said back back continence, I can't.
- 43:20Speaker 3: Kind of even do it.
- 43:21Speaker 2: It's weird because I drink a big old milkshake, drink
- 43:25a bickle. I have to think that you were like
- 43:27a nineteen fifties diner, like doing a little doo op
- 43:30in the parking lot.
- 43:31Speaker 1: It was a sonic, all right.
- 43:34Speaker 2: So it's basically the new age version of that.
- 43:39Speaker 4: Oh my god, when when I got when my Twitter
- 43:42account got stolen, when I fell for that scam a
- 43:45little ago, every and the video of me start going around,
- 43:48everyone was like, not him, lips aren't big enough.
- 43:50Speaker 2: It's true, it is. I will say that that was
- 43:53freaky for people that don't know Isaiah's Twitter account got
- 43:57hacked and the guy made like a deep fake video.
- 44:00Speaker 4: Or no no no no no no no no no
- 44:02no no no no.
- 44:03Speaker 1: That was me. That was me.
- 44:05Speaker 4: That was a video I took because I thought the
- 44:07scam was that I was talking to Twitter's verification team
- 44:11and that there was an attempt to my account and
- 44:14I was dumb and fell for it. So I made
- 44:15the video to like certify the account or whatever. But
- 44:19then after they stole the account, they're like, hey, it's
- 44:20a crypto thing.
- 44:22Speaker 2: So you wait, you recorded? Was you was you promoting? No?
- 44:30Speaker 1: No? No, no no, let me back up, Let me
- 44:31back up?
- 44:32Speaker 2: Yeah you have okay, yeah, please tell me.
- 44:36Speaker 1: Okay.
- 44:37Speaker 4: So I get a phone call where someone claims to
- 44:40be with like Twitter or X's or whatever sport and safety.
- 44:44Speaker 1: Team, and then they send me v emails.
- 44:45Speaker 4: To verify like the the cases opened or whatever that
- 44:49are from Twitter dot com. It's like support slash Twitter
- 44:52dot com and I look up the U r L
- 44:54and it's like it was legit a few years ago
- 44:56back when X was Twitter, but now that it's rebranded,
- 44:58I guess people can just like like spoof the email
- 45:01or someone's bought the domain or something like that for
- 45:03Twitter dot com or whatever. So it all came from
- 45:05like Twitter dot com and they already had information like
- 45:08phone number, account email tied, stuff like that, and they
- 45:12sent like a portal to like verify login through.
- 45:15Speaker 1: So I go through.
- 45:16Speaker 4: Everything looks like X and they're like, we need to
- 45:18verify identity.
- 45:19Speaker 1: And when I signed up for the Blue.
- 45:21Speaker 4: Check Mark, they had the thing where it's like, oh,
- 45:23a picture of yourself and like, I've got my account
- 45:27back from other websites before, where you have to send
- 45:29a video of yourself and they're like, yeah, I was
- 45:31on the phone with this supposed tech guys like yeah,
- 45:33just send a video of yourself with your name, date
- 45:36and then this code and the code was dollar signed,
- 45:39we in and yes. In hindsight, In hindsight, I should
- 45:43have realized what that meant.
- 45:46Speaker 1: I thought it was like a code.
- 45:48Speaker 4: It's like a symbol and then three letters part of
- 45:52the account name.
- 45:53Speaker 3: Oh my god, I should have known.
- 45:55Speaker 1: I should have known, But I did it for like
- 45:58the Twitter guy.
- 45:59Speaker 4: And then as soon as ye has that I've already
- 46:01entered the password, I get locked out of everything at once.
- 46:04And then they log in, They log in, change all
- 46:08of my stuff and then post that video's Oh my god,
- 46:12that is so funny.
- 46:15Speaker 1: It was not funny for me at all.
- 46:18Speaker 4: And my wife, my wife who was not with me
- 46:22because she was feeling bad, and my family was in
- 46:24for the holidays, So I was doing this between hanging
- 46:27out with them, we were out. We went on another
- 46:29tour of New Orleans, which I know you're fond of.
- 46:32We go out on another tour, and while I'm on
- 46:35the tour, all this happens. So my wife, who wasn't
- 46:38with me, saw the video and was like, well, surely
- 46:41he wasn't stupid enough to fall for this.
- 46:44Speaker 1: So she says it was Ai and a faith.
- 46:47Speaker 4: Even though it was as that's what everyone assumed, because
- 46:51how could I be that stupid.
- 46:53Speaker 2: It's not that idea. It's not even that. It's like
- 46:56it's like your emotion. You look like a fucking robot.
- 46:58Like the lighting is all weird. You're like and this
- 47:01like your ear in this prison cell and you're just
- 47:03like her. So this is like the uh, the way
- 47:09that this was I thought it was. I was like, oh, yeah,
- 47:13I got he's an AI video whatever. And I remember
- 47:16being like, man, they even got like the kind of
- 47:18like grainy like dark room like He's like just to
- 47:25think that, you to think that you look like a
- 47:28fucking one time obeyed hostage and you were like in
- 47:32your room with a notepad and wrote that Crypto going
- 47:35down is so fucking funny.
- 47:38Speaker 1: Oh, my god, my favorite thing too.
- 47:40Speaker 2: Later was the follow up, but I was like, oh, Dan,
- 47:41because the people are like, wait, he's doing that, he's
- 47:43promoting this whatever, and everybody I saw it was be like, no,
- 47:47he got hacked or whatever. And then I go to
- 47:49Instagram and that's whenever I see your story. We have
- 47:53your shades on your outside You're like, okay, so here's
- 47:55pretty much what's going on.
- 47:59Speaker 1: Outside? You recorded some of these sun classes on like.
- 48:04Speaker 2: Oh, pretty much. I got hacked and with a whole
- 48:07weird thing. So sorry about that.
- 48:10Speaker 4: Sorry guys.
- 48:18Speaker 1: I was under a lot of duress. Thank you the
- 48:21gospel time.
- 48:21Speaker 2: I think that you're getting off like a fucking alligator
- 48:24by you tour whatever, So.
- 48:30Speaker 1: You know what, she's a cracker.
- 48:31Speaker 2: Son is just unfortunate, all right, on this ghost tour.
- 48:37Speaker 4: You know it's crazy. You know it's crazy. It was
- 48:40literally an alligator by you tour. There was a gater
- 48:48next to me, and it was a boat tour like
- 48:51that to it. I was under a lot of duress.
- 48:54What do you want my shades? What do you want
- 48:56me to do?
- 48:57Speaker 1: Oh gosh, no, I thought it was a verification. So
- 49:01I'm just like, I'm just low energy.
- 49:03Speaker 4: I have the phone, I just show my face and
- 49:05I show the paper and stuff, and I'm like, okay,
- 49:07is this good? And I was on the phone with
- 49:08the guy still and he's like, okay, that should do it.
- 49:12Speaker 1: And I'm like is that good. He's like, yeah, that's good.
- 49:14Speaker 4: And then he spends ten minutes explaining to me like
- 49:16what the heck was, how it happened, how I can
- 49:19provide safety, And at the end I thanked him and
- 49:22said sorry, I thought you were a scammer earlier, and
- 49:25he's like, no problem.
- 49:28Speaker 2: He just said, oh, oh yeah, no, bro, don't worry
- 49:29about it.
- 49:30Speaker 1: Was he s.
- 49:31Speaker 4: I talked to this guy for like twenty twenty five
- 49:33minutes and he was like, oh, it's no problem. He
- 49:35kept being like, it's good that you're aware. It's good
- 49:38that you're aware of like scammers online and you're trying
- 49:42to be proactive.
- 49:43Speaker 1: That is fucking crazy, man.
- 49:45Speaker 4: Yeah, it happened to a couple other guys too. A
- 49:47couple other YouTubers got hit with the same one at
- 49:49the same.
- 49:50Speaker 2: Time there, so there's like another scam going around right
- 49:54now where it's like you'll say, oh, YouTube sent you
- 49:56a private video or something.
- 49:58Speaker 1: I get those all the time. Yeah.
- 50:00Speaker 2: I don't even know how many hours I've reported and
- 50:02like blocked and they still just keep sending it from
- 50:05like there or YouTube email addresses.
- 50:08Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, they're all like YouTube YouTube dot com. And
- 50:11it'll be like, oh, well, like if you click on
- 50:16the video, it's like a AI video of the whoever
- 50:20what's the CEO's name right now after Susan, the guy
- 50:23they're placed with, whoever that is, it'll be his face
- 50:27AI and it's like, you need to change your payout
- 50:32to this number below. You need to send all the
- 50:36money from your account here.
- 50:37Speaker 1: Thank you, God, dude.
- 50:40Speaker 2: I'm appreciated it. Anyways, For god, I told forgot that
- 50:42we're even recording a fucking episode that is so funny.
- 50:46It's so funny. But the first time we've talked about that,
- 50:47well it happens so recently. Anyways, I'm glad start from
- 50:53the fucking top, or.
- 50:56Speaker 1: I mean, we started talking about where were we at.
- 51:00Speaker 2: You don't really blame them either, I think so basically
- 51:02what's happened so far been in Arizona the past fifteen years.
- 51:05Where they came up before that was a small town
- 51:08that was basically like in the middle of nowhere and
- 51:10it's a pot and it's a place called Point Pine.
- 51:12Speaker 1: Yeah, oh yeah.
- 51:13Speaker 4: This all started because my lips are Oh yeah, it
- 51:15brings me back. People were seeing that video of me
- 51:17and they were like, oh wait no, I think this
- 51:18is actually him, and they would photoshop a screenshop from
- 51:21that video. But my lips are the whole screen. So
- 51:26that's what that's what my Also.
- 51:27Speaker 2: I just love your youth pastor energy about it too,
- 51:29Just like my wife loves these lips because they're good
- 51:33at kissing, and she loves these kiss it's from these
- 51:35big soft croissants on my face. That was the big
- 51:39thing was like I was looking at your lips and
- 51:40it looked like big fat, fucking croissants, a giant pigs
- 51:43and blankets. That's why. That's why if you look at
- 51:45the image, it looked like like croissants.
- 51:49Speaker 1: Hello. That that youth faster dig was a deep cut
- 51:56all right. Back to the I don't like this anymore.
- 52:03Speaker 4: This is too personal. I don't like this world anymore.
- 52:06I don't like this direction. These jokes have gone. I'm
- 52:09gonna continue so anyway, Yeah, weird place Point Pine. I
- 52:14don't really blame them either, I got on pretty quickly
- 52:17and realized that they were trying their hardest to forget
- 52:19the memory of Point Pine. Whenever kids at school asked
- 52:22me where I was from, I simply told them I
- 52:24was from a small town they have never heard of.
- 52:27I also learned early on that any questions about Point
- 52:29Pine would be met with punishments. A few months after
- 52:32we moved to Arizona, my older sister Felicity, had a
- 52:35school project about family history. She did it in our
- 52:38life in Point Pine, wrote about some of the things
- 52:41she remembered from there. Our mom found her project the
- 52:43day before she turned it in and burned it in
- 52:45the backyard, which Felicity came home that afternoon. Her parents
- 52:49took her up to her bedroom. Or heard Felicity crying
- 52:51out every few minutes and what I assume was pain.
- 52:54Were they just beating.
- 52:55Speaker 1: Her a word? Did?
- 52:56Speaker 2: Doesn't it sound like that a little bit?
- 52:58Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 53:00Speaker 4: Said nothing, And from that moment on, neither of us
- 53:02mentioned Point Pine again, except for me. Right now, I've
- 53:06decided to tell you all about it. I don't know
- 53:08what's causing me to remember all these things that I
- 53:10had locked up in the deepest.
- 53:11Speaker 1: Parts of my brain.
- 53:13Speaker 4: Maybe it's the fact that my father died about a
- 53:15week ago. Since he died, my mom's remained silent, hasn't
- 53:19said a word to anyone.
- 53:20Speaker 1: He hasn't even cried.
- 53:22Speaker 4: In fact, she ended up sending my father's remains off
- 53:24to God knows where my money in.
- 53:28Speaker 1: My money in on Point Pine.
- 53:30Speaker 2: Though money is My money is on Point Pine.
- 53:32Speaker 4: Oh that makes more sense. Yeah, my money's on Point Pine.
- 53:34Although I'd be crazy to ask. I've started recalling random
- 53:38little things about the town that at the time seemed
- 53:40like normal, everyday sayings that we as residents were all
- 53:43used to. Now, as I look back, I realized that
- 53:46they're not as normal as I thought back then. One
- 53:49peculiar thing about Point Pine had to do with the
- 53:52Point Pine Bakery. Whenever you were in there, the owner,
- 53:56mister Terrence, always knew what you were about to order.
- 54:00I remember the kids have some sort of rumor about
- 54:02mister Terrence being a magician who could read minds. Although
- 54:05whenever you paid for your bake goods, you had to
- 54:08tip mister Terrence with an old item of clothing you
- 54:11had grown out of. What the fuck giant there's a
- 54:15giant box up by the register that everyone tossed old
- 54:18baby clothing and choos into what the is.
- 54:22Speaker 1: That's cool, that's cool.
- 54:23Speaker 4: It's like he collects memories or he collects old old beliefs,
- 54:27like he knows the future because he holds the past,
- 54:30or something like that.
- 54:31Speaker 1: I love this. I love these settings, by the way,
- 54:33like small like.
- 54:36Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, it's very gravity falls, gravity falls vibes or
- 54:43what the town from Alan Wake. I forget the name
- 54:45of it right now, but yeah, like oor twin Peaks,
- 54:48very twin Peaks.
- 54:49Speaker 1: Yeah, dude, I said that, Oh you did. I couldn't.
- 54:53Speaker 4: I literally couldn't hear you. But I liked it better
- 54:55when I said it. I like to be that's fair.
- 54:57Speaker 2: That's fair.
- 54:57Speaker 4: That was one of the odd things, although you'll come
- 54:59to realize that it won't seem that weird in comparison
- 55:02to some of the other things about Point Pine. Every
- 55:04year on your birthday you had to get blood work done.
- 55:07I don't think anyone really knew what the point of
- 55:09this was, or if they were actually looking for something.
- 55:12We all just knew that our birthdays would start off
- 55:14with a trip to the Point Pine Labs.
- 55:17Speaker 1: Everyone had to be up at.
- 55:18Speaker 4: Eight thirteen am there's a system of speakers placed around
- 55:21the town like an amusement park or something, and at
- 55:23eight thirteen, without fail, the wailing alarm sound would ricochet
- 55:27through the neighborhoods, waking everybody up.
- 55:30Speaker 1: This was followed by parents.
- 55:31Speaker 4: Coming to wake up their children and get them out
- 55:33of bed as quickly as possible, like the house was
- 55:36on fire or something. Sometimes I expected it to be.
- 55:39All the Point Pine schools were placed in different areas
- 55:42of the town. Point Pine Elementary was towards the east,
- 55:45Point Pine Middle School was in the west. Point Pine
- 55:48High was in the dead center of town. Point Pie
- 55:50University was up on a small hill towards the south.
- 55:53If you hadn't notice by now, every place in town
- 55:56was named Point Pine, Blank Point Pine Cafe, Point Pine,
- 56:00Point Pine Grocery, etc. Certainly, one of the weirdest things
- 56:04by far that took place in Point Pine was the
- 56:06Point Pine Monthly Parade. Happened every month without fail. It
- 56:10was never on the same date, and each month a
- 56:12student from Point Pine High was chosen to be in it.
- 56:15The weird thing about this parade was that we weren't
- 56:17allowed to watch it go by, not out on the
- 56:20streets not from the windows, not even on television. That
- 56:23was one of the most enforced rules. You must have never,
- 56:26under any circumstance look at the parade. In fact, for
- 56:30the most part, we weren't even allowed outside when the
- 56:33parine passed through. We always knew when the parade was
- 56:35about to start, because it always happened the same way.
- 56:38You would hear a chorus of voices, like a church
- 56:40choir singing a melody. It wasn't a familiar one that
- 56:44I knew. I was only familiar with it in the
- 56:46sense that I heard it once a month. It sounded
- 56:49like it could be from a nursery rhyme or something similar.
- 56:51The voices seemed to come from everywhere, nowhere, all at once.
- 56:55It was like they were coming from the sky, the ground,
- 56:57the trees, the buildings. Everything in Point Pine was singing.
- 57:01Once you heard the first note, you had five minutes
- 57:04to get inside a house or building that had locks
- 57:06on the doors. This key comes a surprise, but in
- 57:08Point Pine not many buildings contain locks. So if you
- 57:12happen to be out and about on the street when
- 57:14the singing started, you had about three options on the
- 57:18places you could go. One of the schools staff break
- 57:21room in the Point Pine bar, or the fridge in
- 57:24the Point Pine pizza shop. Man, that's why there's only
- 57:27three different locations in town that have locks. That feels
- 57:30like very intention but everyone knows. Yeah, but everyone knows
- 57:33where those three parts are.
- 57:34Speaker 2: YEAHO, That's why I'm wondering why they make it so
- 57:37so easy to basically get fucked out in the open.
- 57:40Speaker 4: And also the parade sounds like a rapture almost. It's like, oh,
- 57:46you hear the voices like a church choir singing a melody.
- 57:50It comes from the sky all at once, Like.
- 57:52Speaker 2: Yeah, it has that, I mean it almost, Like I
- 57:54don't know why. My mind immediately went to the nineteen
- 57:57seventies Wickerman like the weird pagan kind of yeah. Yeah,
- 58:01like dancing like the choir people in the costumes and
- 58:03stuff like that. But the idea of it coming from
- 58:06like the trees and the earth and stuff I thought
- 58:08was just kind of picky, like just kind of interesting.
- 58:11Speaker 4: One year, in the month of August, my friendly and
- 58:13I decided we were going to break the rules and
- 58:16not go inside when the parade passed. Now that I
- 58:19think about it, I'm surprised that kids didn't do this
- 58:21more often, considering that well, when you tell kids that
- 58:24they must absolutely never do something, they often do that
- 58:27exact thing. Since we didn't know when the parade was coming,
- 58:29where it started, or the exact path that it took
- 58:32around town, we decided the smartest thing to do would
- 58:35be to wait in the forest near the Point Pine
- 58:37Library until the parade eventually came down the street. So
- 58:40basically decided to spend about half of the month of
- 58:42August hanging out near or around the library. Around the
- 58:46third week of the month, while we were sitting on
- 58:48the steps of the library talking about some random things
- 58:50that aren't important, heard the music start. Lee and I
- 58:53looked at each other and then took off running into
- 58:55the trees. Everyone else raced to the nearest school. We
- 58:59were far into the forest that someone on the street
- 59:02wouldn't see us, but stay close enough so that we
- 59:05were still able to see a part of the road.
- 59:07Speaker 1: Wait, this is also like you, This is what I mean.
- 59:10Speaker 4: About like questions or like rules do a good job
- 59:12at like creating world building, because it's like, what were
- 59:15those moments, like then did everyone go hide in the
- 59:19school and the teachers lock all the doors? And then
- 59:22just look at the kids and say, just a little longer.
- 59:23The parade will be gone any moment, Just wait.
- 59:25Speaker 2: Like I love whenever the rules affect in a whole
- 59:27town though, it's fun whenever it's the entire community is
- 59:31abiding by this thing as well.
- 59:33Speaker 4: Mm hmm, yeah, this is I don't know. It makes
- 59:36me ask so many questions about it. It feels good fun
- 59:38world building for sure.
- 59:40Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 59:41Speaker 4: We waited for a while whispering to each other and
- 59:43then shushing one another's who waited for the infamous parade
- 59:46to pass. This year, my sister's friend Reid was chosen
- 59:50to work on the parade. She's a few years older
- 59:52than my sister, but they were friends because Red used
- 59:55to live next door to us.
- 59:56Speaker 1: When we were younger.
- 59:57Speaker 4: We were crashing in the bushes and leaves when we
- 59:59heard the course voices getting louder, therefore closer.
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: Dude, I totally see it straight.
- 1:00:06Speaker 4: In my back, a little bit of my crouch position.
- 1:00:08Try to see what Lee was saying. I was always
- 1:00:11a short kid, even now, I'm shorter than most guys
- 1:00:14my age were in age, really, so Lee always pretty.
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: Much towered over me.
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: I can't see anything.
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: I hissed, shifting my position. Sh Then I hear us stop.
- 1:00:25Speaker 4: Moving and instead waiting for them to get closer where
- 1:00:29they were bound to pass right in front of my
- 1:00:30line aside. Oh no, oh, crap, suddenly leave dove to
- 1:00:35the ground, landing in the fetal position with his head
- 1:00:38cradled in his hands.
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: What, I asked, looking from him to the street. I
- 1:00:43saw her. I see that girl, read.
- 1:00:46Speaker 4: I asked, looking over to try to spot her. Lee
- 1:00:49grabbed me and slammed me down to the ground.
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: What was that for?
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: You don't want to look at it?
- 1:00:57Speaker 4: I noticed it for the first time in all of
- 1:00:59the years that I had on him. Lee looked absolutely terrified.
- 1:01:04Turned my back on the parade and sat down to
- 1:01:06look at Lee instead.
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: What did you see those things? They did something to her.
- 1:01:13They're eating her, Cody, but she doesn't even care.
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: Oh that's so fun. Oh my word, Oh that's great.
- 1:01:25Speaker 4: I looked at Lee, who still had his head in
- 1:01:27his hands, and he was crying. Now set with my
- 1:01:31back to the parade, no longer wanting to see for
- 1:01:34the singing, get louder.
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: Cody, don't fuck.
- 1:01:41Speaker 4: Cody, Cody now, the voice sounded like, read, look at us.
- 1:01:46Cody shut my eyes. The voices went on for a
- 1:01:50few minutes longer, and at one point Lee started wailing.
- 1:01:53Kept my eyes shut the entire time. After that, it
- 1:01:56moved along and continued its way through town. On we
- 1:02:00began to hear everyone coming out of their hiding places.
- 1:02:02I stood up and leaned down to help Lee get up.
- 1:02:05Once he stood up, keapped his head down.
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: Lee, what's wrong?
- 1:02:10Speaker 4: I could hear him sniffling. Lee finally responded as he
- 1:02:16lifted his head.
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: It took my eyes.
- 1:02:25Speaker 4: I will never forget the dark, bleeding holes in Lee's
- 1:02:28face and the cuts around his skin. Threw open the
- 1:02:31forest for a good three minutes before I was able
- 1:02:34to help Lee. Lee out of the forest. Feud Olt
- 1:02:37saw us and got our parents came and got us
- 1:02:39right away. Day after that, my family moved out of
- 1:02:42Point Pine. I never knew what became of Lee after
- 1:02:44that day. Minutes after we left, my parents acted like
- 1:02:47Point Pine never existed. It's ever discussed, and I never
- 1:02:51had the nerve to ask about Lee again. As far
- 1:02:54as I know, Lee was the only person who ever
- 1:02:56saw the parade, and he was never able to see
- 1:02:58anything else after that. I don't know if Point Pine
- 1:03:01still exists, I'd like to go check it out again.
- 1:03:04But even if I knew where it was or how
- 1:03:06to get there, I don't think i'd ever go back.
- 1:03:09I have a feeling that I wouldn't exactly get a
- 1:03:11warm welcome, although I can't shake the thought that my
- 1:03:14parents were somehow still connected to the town and after all.
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: Those years, and that's the end. That was coo cool,
- 1:03:22that's fine. I love the I love the.
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: Way that Gabby's ending the stories too, which the cool
- 1:03:29thing about this for for audience members of the first
- 1:03:32time like reading her stories. Apparently there is a whole
- 1:03:36plethora of Point Pine stories, and she has made a
- 1:03:39thread that you can go and look at that has
- 1:03:42like all the stories attached to this town, which I mean.
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: Three, four, five, six of eight.
- 1:03:48Speaker 4: It is an eight part story the Point Point Pine series.
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: They work as individual stories, but it's cool to know
- 1:03:55that there's like an entire kind of lore. I guess
- 1:03:58that you could like build or you know, just if
- 1:04:02you like the existence of this town and the kind
- 1:04:03of weird things that happen. And it's cool that there's
- 1:04:06a just like a nice backlog of stories that just
- 1:04:09fit exactly in this town.
- 1:04:11Speaker 4: Yeah, that I gotta say. So far, this author is
- 1:04:15batting two for two.
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: Both of these have been great. Point Pine. Like I said,
- 1:04:20I love the idea of.
- 1:04:25Speaker 4: You have this town where like these one off series
- 1:04:28could happen. And the issue I always have with these
- 1:04:29continuation series whenever we cover them is that you need
- 1:04:32so much context to understand what's going on. Like that's
- 1:04:35the reason I got so upset when we read My
- 1:04:37Jobs watching a woman trapped in a room. It's like, Okay, well,
- 1:04:40I don't want to read a bunch of other stories
- 1:04:41to understand this one. Whereas with the Point Pine, it
- 1:04:43seems like these are standalone stories that just so happened
- 1:04:46to happen so happened to happen in the same town. Yeah,
- 1:04:50And the one we just read, by the way, is
- 1:04:52the first one in the series, So if you want
- 1:04:55to read the other seven parts, well you've already heard.
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: The intro now, so you can continue from there. But
- 1:04:59that's great. I would be down.
- 1:05:03Speaker 4: I'd be down depending on how people like these to
- 1:05:06do the Point Pine series, that would be pretty sick.
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: That was fun. I enjoyed that.
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: I like the idea too of like just the little
- 1:05:13details in that story of the parade happens once once
- 1:05:16a month, because it has to be a sacrifice or
- 1:05:19a sacrificial offering to also a parade. When I think
- 1:05:22it's just a monster that's in the street that's like
- 1:05:25singing and bellowing. It might be like a manifestation or
- 1:05:27maybe like a conjoined thing that's like kind of crawling
- 1:05:30through the streets.
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: But it's like acting as a parade.
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: But it seems like an entity that's moving through the
- 1:05:34town and kind of like making a display of the sacrifice.
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: What's it? Least said, they're eating her, but she doesn't care.
- 1:05:41Speaker 4: It's like she's in a trance, almost being consumed by
- 1:05:43whatever they are.
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: The song, even the song makes it seem like maybe
- 1:05:46that's the trance, you know, like that, like it's like
- 1:05:48a spell or something like that. But I love the
- 1:05:50idea of uh, which I could be totally wrong misreading it,
- 1:05:55but I love the idea of like, oh yeah, when
- 1:05:56you're a kid, there was a parade that happened every month,
- 1:05:58But really it's like, oh no, it's a parade. It's
- 1:06:00like a fucking abhorrent thing crawling through the streets like
- 1:06:04making a making a spectacle of its of its sacrifice.
- 1:06:09You know, I think that that's like such a sick idea.
- 1:06:12Speaker 4: They have to give up something to whatever the I mean,
- 1:06:14it seems like the idea with point Pines that there's
- 1:06:16a bunch of different entities in it, but there's some
- 1:06:18entity where something has to be sacrificed and they have
- 1:06:20to sacrifice up.
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: You know, they're young to give give into it.
- 1:06:24Speaker 4: But at the end, whenever that voice is speaking to
- 1:06:27our main character, he says that it's using Reid's voice now,
- 1:06:31So it's like, are they.
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: Like assimilating her into itself?
- 1:06:35Speaker 4: Like again, you when you leave the door open like
- 1:06:37that lets people ask questions and they think about the
- 1:06:40story a lot longer than they read it.
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that's impressive.
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: Which, you know, it leaves me in a place where
- 1:06:46I would love to just hear the next couple months
- 1:06:48of like, yeah, you know, I had to know, like
- 1:06:50I was this this obsessive curiosity that keeps dwelling, which
- 1:06:54you know, I think they always say leave people wanting more.
- 1:06:57But these older stories, as we've said before in the past,
- 1:06:59they're just so like drive by, you know, like here
- 1:07:02it is boom, We're done and move off. These are
- 1:07:05some of these stories. It'd be so sick is just
- 1:07:07see how they get fleshed out a bit, you know.
- 1:07:09And you know, we found it as well that if
- 1:07:12you flushed out too much, it loses its mystique and
- 1:07:14it's you know, it's mystery. But still that was just
- 1:07:16a lot of fun. Like I was at a spot
- 1:07:18where I was like, oh my god, yes, please more,
- 1:07:20and then it just kind of it kind of you know,
- 1:07:23just slowly fades out into being done. But I yeah,
- 1:07:27I had a lot of fun with that one. I
- 1:07:28just love that idea of the parade monster. I think
- 1:07:30that's that's just really cool. But luckily we're are on
- 1:07:33our last one, which is also a sick name of
- 1:07:36a story, which is there's a man who follows me
- 1:07:38around and narrates my life. And he started to stay
- 1:07:41and he started to say some unsettling things. So I love, yeah,
- 1:07:46I love already the same way with the Weird Favors,
- 1:07:50the Sugar Daddy, that kind of stuff, the evasive feeling
- 1:07:55of like somebody being around you and just constantly just
- 1:07:59like I mean, like a plague or like a fucking
- 1:08:02virus or something hanging around being like, could you imagine
- 1:08:05being like if it goes the way that I'm thinking
- 1:08:07of being like he put up his He put up
- 1:08:10his jacket and walked over Like you're having somebody narrate
- 1:08:13your entire life, like he would drive you insane.
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: Mm hmm.
- 1:08:17Speaker 4: Yeah, it's kind of kind of like how I am
- 1:08:20with you. You're kind of like the thing that follows
- 1:08:21me around and torments my life.
- 1:08:23Speaker 2: It's true. Or I'm a guy on Twitter who's like, hey,
- 1:08:26by the way, right down right down this crypto saying okay,
- 1:08:31he wasn't even at Twitter.
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: He wasn't even at Twitter. It's just.
- 1:08:35Speaker 2: I thought so with the email, I.
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: Thought he was. I thought talking to mister Musk himself
- 1:08:39for all I knew. I just.
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: Isaiah, I'm hitting you a person like to help you
- 1:08:44with us?
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: Is he sweetish?
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: He has such a weird accent I can never do.
- 1:08:50He's just gonna I AM become mean what we That
- 1:08:56is like the cringiest, one of the lamest fucking things
- 1:08:59we've heard I Am come in. He looks forward and
- 1:09:02he's like, wait, called doge.
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: He says.
- 1:09:07Speaker 2: He says, uh, putty much pretty much. I become him
- 1:09:12pretty much. You're so cool.
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: Wow, this is great. I love the everything up.
- 1:09:23Speaker 2: I do too.
- 1:09:25Speaker 4: I especially love how when all the emails for the
- 1:09:28old one cut stolen, they use those to push your.
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: Car whatever entity. By the way, that's in the story.
- 1:09:35We'd fucking hate having to narrate my life. Man, Well,
- 1:09:38it wakes up. He masturbates. He continues to masturbate. He's
- 1:09:43masturbating again. He took a ship. He masturbates while he ships.
- 1:09:51He's masturbating. It smells here. I'm like, that's not narrating.
- 1:09:54That's your own thing. He's like, I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: Like you're you're just holding eye contact with him.
- 1:10:02Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly. He puts on his socks. He mastermates.
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: Before you're even out of the bed.
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: That's rough, dude, exactly exactly, he says. He gets out
- 1:10:13of bed, shy.
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: Another day here he does hot yoga.
- 1:10:22Speaker 2: He masterbates.
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: Oh all right, anyway, he drives to work.
- 1:10:29Speaker 2: He calls Isaiah, he mastermates.
- 1:10:31Speaker 4: You cut that out right now, they say, enough stuff
- 1:10:37already on the sub reddit. We don't need to encourage that. Okay,
- 1:10:41I'm gonna read the story now. He's always been here.
- 1:10:45Although I actually don't know if he's a he, and
- 1:10:48though I wouldn't want to assume anything, the voice is
- 1:10:50definitely a male's voice.
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: I've never seen his face. Always the back of him.
- 1:10:55Speaker 4: Wears a black trench coat with a popped collar, so
- 1:10:57that all I can really.
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: See is the very top of his head and part
- 1:11:01of his black boots.
- 1:11:02Speaker 4: I can't communicate with him, and I figured this out
- 1:11:05a few years back. He just stands a few feet
- 1:11:07away from me at all times, back to me narrating
- 1:11:11my entire life. No one else can see him figured
- 1:11:14this out a few years back as well, or can
- 1:11:17they hear him by and day usually starts off the same.
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: I always wake up to the same sentence.
- 1:11:22Speaker 2: Natali wakes up and rulls over in our bed.
- 1:11:24Speaker 4: Every single day. He says that because that is what
- 1:11:27I do. It's all very mundane. My life is not
- 1:11:30that interesting after all. Sort of learned to live with it,
- 1:11:33and I can almost tune him out now. I've never
- 1:11:36really told anyone else about him, because I know that
- 1:11:39no one would believe me, so I really don't have
- 1:11:42much of a choice other than learning to deal with
- 1:11:44it and tuning him out.
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: When I really need to.
- 1:11:47Speaker 4: About a week ago, I was cooking dinner matched potatoes
- 1:11:50and black bean tacos, tuning him out as normal. So
- 1:11:53I was chopping up some cilantro for my tacos. However,
- 1:11:56he said something that caught my attention.
- 1:11:58Speaker 2: Natalia is innocently chopping cilantro without any knowledge that she
- 1:12:03is in grave danger.
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: Fuck that dude, I'd be like, excuse me, so what
- 1:12:10I don't think?
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: I like to think that every time she looks up
- 1:12:12at him too, like what he kind of hides he's
- 1:12:14like that kind of goes behind a corner and he's
- 1:12:16just just like looking at her.
- 1:12:18Speaker 4: Well, it says that he's always a few feet away,
- 1:12:19but with the back facing him or facing her. So
- 1:12:23does that mean when she tries to get closer, he
- 1:12:24just like takes a step away at the same time,
- 1:12:27like if she starts running after him, will he start running, Natolia?
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: Or does he just float?
- 1:12:32Speaker 2: I like you think that he runs. It's like you
- 1:12:34hear like his like his like duck footsteps slapping on
- 1:12:36the ground after Natolia can make it jiggle.
- 1:12:42Speaker 4: Wouldn't it be terrified if like you got into your
- 1:12:45house and you shut the door behind him and then
- 1:12:46a few minutes later, you hear the door fly open,
- 1:12:48him sprinting.
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: Over to you.
- 1:12:50Speaker 4: Yeah, he's spreading backwards because you never see his face,
- 1:12:54so he's running.
- 1:12:56Speaker 2: Yeah, don't turn around so I can run towards you.
- 1:12:58Speaker 4: Now, that's bro That's a horrifying idea. Think about something
- 1:13:02running like full sprint speed, but backwards, so I could
- 1:13:06just think the back of its head getting closer. It's
- 1:13:08an awful visual. I froze the knife in the middle
- 1:13:12of my small pile of cilantro and looked over at him.
- 1:13:15He was standing on the other side of the kitchen island,
- 1:13:17facing my dinner table. What I asked, knowing that he
- 1:13:21wasn't going to reply this point, I think I'd be
- 1:13:24more freaked out about him replying than him not. He
- 1:13:26said nothing for a few minutes, so I finished chopping,
- 1:13:28wiping the pieces of cilantro that got stuck to the blade,
- 1:13:31my finger, cutting it in the process.
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: Fuck.
- 1:13:35Speaker 4: I walked around and turned on the faucet, rinsing the
- 1:13:38knife in my finger.
- 1:13:40Speaker 2: Natalia cut herself and her blood oozed out, pleasing the
- 1:13:44one who watches.
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: Nope, no, no, nope, nope, no, what do you mean? Please?
- 1:13:50Speaker 2: I don't. Yeah, I don't. I this is this is already.
- 1:13:53I'm like, you know, what, shame on you?
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: What do you want her to do? Fun?
- 1:13:58Speaker 2: I mean, what can you do? Fucking right?
- 1:14:01Speaker 4: Well, you said shame on you implying that she needs
- 1:14:03to do something.
- 1:14:04Speaker 2: No, no, no, I'm saying shame when you the guy who's
- 1:14:06saying that.
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: Like pleasing the one who watches I see what you're saying.
- 1:14:09Speaker 4: Yeah, that well, I mean like it's some entity, like
- 1:14:12some supernatural entity that follows you around, and now it's
- 1:14:15saying it likes it when.
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: You bleed, and that you're engraved danger Like, uh, excuse.
- 1:14:19Speaker 2: Me, you getting hurt makes me chortle.
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: I turned the faucet off and turned around.
- 1:14:27Speaker 4: He had it move, but I was sure that I
- 1:14:28heard him correctly walked over to the window on the
- 1:14:31wall to my left and pulled on the cord, shedding
- 1:14:33the blinds. As I became paranoid, managed to eat my
- 1:14:36dinner and do the dishes without any other weird comments,
- 1:14:38and got ready for bed. I got sleepier, reached over
- 1:14:42and turned off the lamp by my bed, rolling over
- 1:14:45on my left side and closing my eyes.
- 1:14:47Speaker 2: Datullia rolls over closing her eyes and peacefully lying in
- 1:14:50her bed. Well she doesn't know, however, is that she
- 1:14:54will soon face a horrible fate that will end in
- 1:14:57her death. I'd be pissed, man, But we've been doing
- 1:15:03this fucking game for years, and this is the kind
- 1:15:05of bullshit you want to pull.
- 1:15:06Speaker 4: Like it's like, okay, all right, we've been good to
- 1:15:08each other, you know, I let you stay in my home.
- 1:15:10Speaker 2: Yeah, what is you been in my house for this long?
- 1:15:13And you're really gonna just start pulling the ship now? Overreacts.
- 1:15:18Speaker 4: Yeah, I.
- 1:15:22Speaker 2: Think he just keeps saying chortling. She begins to chortle.
- 1:15:25She's like, I'm not laughing. She chortles, chortals more than
- 1:15:29anyone never chortles.
- 1:15:30Speaker 4: It's funny to imagine, uh that, Like he's communicating like
- 1:15:36a dad who doesn't know how to work through feelings.
- 1:15:38Like she's yelling, and he's just like Natalie is upset,
- 1:15:42Natalia is mad at me?
- 1:15:44Speaker 2: Natalia, Natalia.
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: I love the chortle. Yeah, you are almost exactly.
- 1:15:51Speaker 4: You're not quite there, but you're really close to the
- 1:15:53voice you did for mister Widemouth.
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: It's fair the same note, very similar. There you go. Yeah,
- 1:16:04that's it.
- 1:16:05Speaker 4: I opened my eyes, sitting up and looking over at
- 1:16:08his silhouette, slightly lit by the moonlight. Wait a few minutes,
- 1:16:11but he said nothing else, and I eventually fell asleep.
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: I woke up the next morning as my alarm went off.
- 1:16:17Speaker 2: Itatti wakes up and rolls over in bed, one day
- 1:16:20closer to her an inevitable death.
- 1:16:22Speaker 4: Wouldn't be messed up if you just started doing that,
- 1:16:24Like she's not actually about to die in any danger.
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: But they just starts doing that to make he I mean, it.
- 1:16:28Speaker 2: Kind of fucking sounds like it really out of like no,
- 1:16:30out of all, out of all the years you've been
- 1:16:32doing this, and now you're just like, haha, just kidding,
- 1:16:35But am I technically not really?
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: Is it real? I don't know. I guess you'll have
- 1:16:40to find out.
- 1:16:40Speaker 2: You'll have to find out today when you're in your car.
- 1:16:42No big deal. I'm sure it's fine.
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: I'm sure you can go start it. It won't blow up,
- 1:16:46trust me.
- 1:16:47Speaker 2: Yeah, there's definitely not a pipe bombing underneath your seat.
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: Don't even look and starts up just fine. And he's like,
- 1:16:52I told you to trust.
- 1:16:52Speaker 2: Me what I tell you, you're perfectly tell you if
- 1:16:55I swear.
- 1:16:58Speaker 4: I got up walking into the bathroom and slam the
- 1:17:00door shut, annoyed and a little bit scared. He'd been
- 1:17:02narrating my entire life and it never said anything creepier
- 1:17:05out of the ordinary. What was going on now? Opened
- 1:17:08the faucet and began splashing water onto my face.
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: It totally washes her face, but she doesn't seem to
- 1:17:13realize that it is much easier for someone to attack
- 1:17:16when her eyes are closed.
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: Just start doing that. She's completely fine in there, but
- 1:17:25just says stuff.
- 1:17:25Speaker 2: Like that, and he's like, I have a trident. Like
- 1:17:31you're like, what, nothing? I really did say anything. Why
- 1:17:36would he have a tried it? I don't know. You
- 1:17:40tell medon Poseidon got off the sea. I don't know.
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: I goof around, It's what I do.
- 1:17:48Speaker 2: I like to have fun.
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: Anyway. Do you want to kill yourself today?
- 1:17:58Speaker 2: Yeah? Why don't you put this in your mind all
- 1:18:00of a sudden, jump on it.
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: Put this in your mouth and jump on it.
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: Just hop up and down. And I'm fucking with you.
- 1:18:10I'm fucking with you.
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: It's a joke called down.
- 1:18:15Speaker 2: It's a joke. You're so serious. If you smiled.
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: There, it is. He's like, he's like that passively misogynous.
- 1:18:31Speaker 2: He's like like it's like yeah, it's like one day
- 1:18:34she just realizes. She's like, yeah, actually he was like
- 1:18:35a misogynist this whole time, but he just really amps
- 1:18:37it up. Are you seriously worrying that today you should
- 1:18:43try wearing makeup? She's like, I do.
- 1:18:48Speaker 4: Maybe your boss will give you that promotion if you
- 1:18:50dress better, if you smiled nicer, Why don't why are
- 1:18:56you working? Shouldn't you try cooking? You like that that
- 1:18:59try you're out less or no. He's doing it in
- 1:19:01like the third person thing. So as she's getting ready
- 1:19:04for work, he like he's like in the corner and
- 1:19:07he's like now. Natalia thinks that she will be fulfilled
- 1:19:10by continuing her day at work. Little does she know
- 1:19:12she would be most happy years to stay at home mom.
- 1:19:15She's like, excuse, excuse me, And he's got like he's
- 1:19:17got like a red pill podcast in his ear.
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: He like pulls out his bud real quick, like never
- 1:19:22mind totally.
- 1:19:23Speaker 2: Natalia looks at a baby clothes online even though her
- 1:19:26egg're totally dry. She's far too old.
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: Little does she realize she should have had this revelation
- 1:19:32twelve years ago.
- 1:19:34Speaker 2: Yeah, She's like, why why are you doing this? You
- 1:19:38just like shrugs. I like to think too, you just
- 1:19:39shrugs all time.
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: Yeah, she asked something. He's like, oh, he does.
- 1:19:43Speaker 2: The Jim Halpert like lip thing, and he just shrugs.
- 1:19:51Speaker 4: She looks over every now and then, and he just
- 1:19:53like he starts shaving his head, smoking cigars.
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: He's just becoming just getting red pilled.
- 1:20:03Speaker 4: I rinsed the soap away from my eye area, looked
- 1:20:05at my reflection in front of me, and ad his
- 1:20:07standing behind me. Finish, rinsing my face with my eyes open,
- 1:20:11and managed to try it without completely covering my eyes.
- 1:20:14The rest of my week went pretty similar. Normal narrations
- 1:20:17for the most part was some freeby stuff sprinkled in.
- 1:20:20Speaker 2: He is coming for her very soon. It is unavoidable.
- 1:20:23Natalia must die.
- 1:20:25Speaker 4: At one point, it's like, get out of the car, like,
- 1:20:28I'm pulling over.
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: What are you talking to me about?
- 1:20:30Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: Stop. Every time he said something, I looked around at
- 1:20:34my surroundings. Paranoid. Spent the entire week anxious.
- 1:20:37Speaker 4: In paranoid, barely slept, fearing that I would wake up
- 1:20:40in the middle of the night to some performing spontaneous
- 1:20:42surgery on me, put a knife in my bedside drawer
- 1:20:45and pepper spray under my pillow yesterday.
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: There are more creepier things than usual.
- 1:20:50Speaker 2: Natalia's days are numbered. Natalia has been feeling anxious, as
- 1:20:54she should. The one who watches is arriving shortly. The
- 1:20:59one who watches it was very excited to kill Natalia.
- 1:21:02There will be no escape, only death. The thing too,
- 1:21:06that makes it creepy is that he's just feet away.
- 1:21:08He's so close.
- 1:21:09Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, if I mean, like, if you want to,
- 1:21:12he could just turn around and kill her at any time,
- 1:21:14because who knows what he is. He's some supernatural being. Obviously.
- 1:21:18There was a story I read in college during one
- 1:21:21of my literature courses. We had a semester in short stories,
- 1:21:24and there's one short story we read that was about
- 1:21:27this couple who It was in a world where doctors
- 1:21:31had developed a science that can predict your date of
- 1:21:34death un up. So it became a thing where like
- 1:21:40around the United States, it like some people saw his taboo,
- 1:21:43like Bible Belt regions were like denounced it said it
- 1:21:46was of the devil, and like in more like progressive
- 1:21:49city areas people would go get it and they would
- 1:21:51have parties. Up until then, people became more risky up
- 1:21:54until it. Stuff like that, And the story centered around
- 1:21:57this couple who the wife really wants to go get
- 1:22:01it and the husband disagrees, and the one day she
- 1:22:03gets it without telling him, and then it's like the
- 1:22:05next five years of their life are miserable because, like
- 1:22:09it said, she was going to die in five years,
- 1:22:11So the next five years, every day they're just sad, depressed.
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: They can never come out of it.
- 1:22:15Speaker 4: And then eventually I think the way it ends, if
- 1:22:17I remember right, is they're setting around that night waiting
- 1:22:20for her to die, and then the clock strikes midnight
- 1:22:22and the story ends. So she didn't die, or like
- 1:22:24the test was wrong or something like that, but it's
- 1:22:28like the anticipation of it absolutely ruined what time they
- 1:22:32did have regardless of what happened, And.
- 1:22:34Speaker 1: It's kind of I don't know.
- 1:22:35Speaker 4: This story reminded me of it because it's like she
- 1:22:38was okay with this entity living near her, but now
- 1:22:41that it's become menacing, it's adapted this tone of like
- 1:22:45it's become dread. It went from something that she got
- 1:22:47over to scary all again, just because of what it's saying.
- 1:22:50But for all we know, it's just it's doing it
- 1:22:51to mess with her. It could be the agent that
- 1:22:53wants to kill her, and there's not really a lot
- 1:22:55she can do about it. Yeah, No, it's like that.
- 1:22:57It's psychological torture. Yeah, it's like the embodiment of dread.
- 1:23:02Like he is a manifestation of like anxiety or like
- 1:23:05impending death. I didn't go out anywhere for fear that
- 1:23:08would somehow cause whatever was going to happen, it happened sooner.
- 1:23:12Last night, I was getting ready for bed, brushing my
- 1:23:14teeth and staring at his reflection behind me in the mirror.
- 1:23:17So I swished mouthwash around in my mouth. He spoke again.
- 1:23:20Speaker 2: Natoia brushes her teeth for the last time.
- 1:23:23Speaker 4: Tomorrow she dies, spit out the mouthwash, choking on a
- 1:23:27bit that had made its way down my throat, coughed
- 1:23:30and wheezed.
- 1:23:32Speaker 2: Natolia choked on the mouthwash, feeling like she was dying.
- 1:23:35But it's not her time yet, or time is tomorrow.
- 1:23:39Speaker 4: That's really funny to imagine that he's like a jerk
- 1:23:42about it too. She like chokes and he's like up.
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: Up, up, not yet. It's not the death day, that's domorrow.
- 1:23:47Speaker 2: Don't don't worry. You won't die here, you're going. It's tomorrow.
- 1:23:50You're fine.
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: It's tomorrow. Coffee to day. Enjoy choke as much as
- 1:23:54you want. You're fine right now.
- 1:23:55Speaker 4: I managed to catch my breath and walked over to
- 1:23:57my bed, crawling in and leaving the lamps on. The
- 1:24:00last thing idea was to be woken up at midnight
- 1:24:02and have to fight off a killer in the dark.
- 1:24:04I woke up today a few hours before my alarm.
- 1:24:06Speaker 2: And got up.
- 1:24:07Speaker 4: I was still alive. Nothing was out of place. Maybe
- 1:24:10I wasn't going to die today, Maybe it was all
- 1:24:12some sort of fluke. I walked into the bathroom and
- 1:24:15grabbed my toothbrush, squeezed out some toothpaste to brush my teeth,
- 1:24:18and put the toothbrush in my mouth.
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: Looked up in the mirror at my reflection. Then I froze.
- 1:24:24Speaker 4: I spit into the sink and looked around the bathroom,
- 1:24:26stuck my head back into my bedroom and looked around
- 1:24:29there as well. I made my way through every single
- 1:24:31room in my house, but he was nowhere to be seen.
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: He was gone.
- 1:24:36Speaker 4: Twenty five years following me around and narrating my life,
- 1:24:39and now suddenly, when I was supposed to die, he
- 1:24:43just disappeared. Somehow, this made me feel worse, as I
- 1:24:46realized that while the things he was saying were creepy,
- 1:24:49they were also helping me by warning me.
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: How much time I had left.
- 1:24:54Speaker 4: Now I had no warning and no choice but to
- 1:24:56wait it out and see what happened. I can't shake
- 1:24:58the feeling that I'm definitely going to to die, but
- 1:25:01how by who? Who was the one who watches? What
- 1:25:06did that even mean? Spent my entire day in the kitchen.
- 1:25:09Figured there are more exits here as well as weapons,
- 1:25:12and I'd probably be safer here than in another smaller
- 1:25:14room of the house. So far, nothing has happened, sitting
- 1:25:18in silence, which is odd because I've never been in
- 1:25:20complete silence. About an hour ago, all the lights began
- 1:25:24to flicker in the house, but that only lasted a
- 1:25:26few seconds. It's gone back to normal now. Still don't
- 1:25:29know what to expect, but I think I'm probably safer
- 1:25:31at my house. Well I thought I would be until
- 1:25:35the doorbell rang. Got up and walked over to the
- 1:25:37living room. Walking up to the door and peering out
- 1:25:40of the people.
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: It was him.
- 1:25:43Speaker 4: He was standing outside my porch with his back to
- 1:25:45me as usual. Didn't move, I didn't even breathe, So
- 1:25:49I just watched him standing there, still out there now,
- 1:25:53and he hasn't said a word, still in my kitchen,
- 1:25:56not knowing what to do. I could hear him mumbling
- 1:25:59out outside the door a few minutes ago, and I
- 1:26:02finally decided to get up and listen.
- 1:26:05Speaker 2: Two thousand.
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: Bro Oh my god, dude, the fuck. Oh that freaked
- 1:26:18me out.
- 1:26:19Speaker 4: Just oh, the idea of the guy that's always been
- 1:26:21there just is back to you counting down.
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: Oh my god.
- 1:26:26Speaker 4: Eh, he's still counting down, and I've now got about
- 1:26:32twenty minutes left. I can see that it's getting darker
- 1:26:35and darker outside as he counts down, though it's not
- 1:26:38even three o'clock in the afternoon. Yet time I look
- 1:26:41out the window, something disappears, a house on my street,
- 1:26:45a car, a tree. Whenever something vanishes, it's replaced with darkness.
- 1:26:50And he keeps counting down. Despite being my last chance
- 1:26:54at communication, I'm going to die today.
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: I don't want it.
- 1:27:00Speaker 2: Almost seems like a like an angel of death or something.
- 1:27:04But the idea of death too, just being that when
- 1:27:06he counts down, you're just gonna be nothing is fucking horrifying.
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: Disappears, right, I also see he's gonna get attacked.
- 1:27:12Speaker 2: It just seems like her world is collapsing, like there's
- 1:27:15nowhere to go.
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: She'll just disappear. Yeah, and there's nothing.
- 1:27:18Speaker 4: I mean, it's like I said earlier, he's like the
- 1:27:20embodiment of like the fear of death, but he's literally.
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: Standing there counting next to her.
- 1:27:26Speaker 4: And also there's something menacing about this guy has followed
- 1:27:29you everywhere you've gone for twenty five years, and you
- 1:27:32wake up one day and he's gone, Like you would
- 1:27:35feel you would feel alone in a way that you
- 1:27:38probably don't remember feeling.
- 1:27:39Speaker 1: You know, I feel that way.
- 1:27:41Speaker 2: It would be so the psychological horror of this is
- 1:27:46just Jesus so fucked. I mean, got it, Like having
- 1:27:50him be gone?
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: Would that not?
- 1:27:52Speaker 2: Absolutely? Have that just be riddled in your brain like
- 1:27:55you're like, well, what's wrong, what's happening? Why is this different?
- 1:27:57Like even if it's a positive change, it would never
- 1:27:59fully be positive because you'd be so freaked out.
- 1:28:02Speaker 4: Yeah, the inevitability of death, Like I said, But also
- 1:28:06there's this note of what am I trying to say? Oh,
- 1:28:09of like the unbeatableness of it, Like it's it's like
- 1:28:11what do you do. You can't run from it, you
- 1:28:14can't get away, and when it does get away, it's
- 1:28:16just standing outside. Now the world's disappearing. It is like
- 1:28:19it's like mortality. It's it's good.
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: I like it. It's a the countdowns, so menacing. That's such
- 1:28:25a fun note.
- 1:28:26Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I fucking I really such a fun little Oh,
- 1:28:31such a fun story. God, I almost want you want
- 1:28:34to read one more. I'm just I'm kind of stoked.
- 1:28:36They're so short and to the point.
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: See what the fourth one is.
- 1:28:40Speaker 2: There's one that I wanted to want to do. It's
- 1:28:42called My Family's Cursed. A clown shows up at everyone's
- 1:28:44tenth birthday, but no one ever hires one. I thought
- 1:28:48that one sounds so sick. Is that not crazy?
- 1:28:51Speaker 1: It's a funny title. Yeah, let's do Let's do that one,
- 1:28:54all right.
- 1:28:55Speaker 4: So we're gonna tack on one more here, And this
- 1:28:58one is, as Hunter said, My family is Cursed. Cloud
- 1:29:01shows up at everyone's tenth birthday, but no one ever
- 1:29:03hires one.
- 1:29:05Speaker 1: Also, this is same author as always.
- 1:29:07Speaker 4: She is killing it so far, these are three great
- 1:29:10stories in a row. My earliest memory of the clown
- 1:29:13is from my cousin Jake's tenth birthday party. I was
- 1:29:16only five, but I distinctly remember the commotion surrounding the clown.
- 1:29:19I remember my parents preparing me before we left the house,
- 1:29:22and on the drive.
- 1:29:23Speaker 2: There, there's going to be a clown at Jake's party.
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: My dad said, just be nice.
- 1:29:30Speaker 2: All you have to do is be nice.
- 1:29:32Speaker 4: My mom added, I didn't understand why they were so worried.
- 1:29:36My mom kept wiping her hands on her dress the
- 1:29:38entire drive to Jake's house. Why my dad kept taking
- 1:29:41deep breasts. Weren't clouds supposed to be a birthday parties.
- 1:29:44When we got to Jake's house, there was something going on.
- 1:29:48The kids were running around the backyard and jumping into
- 1:29:50the bouncy castle, but the adults were standing around in silence,
- 1:29:53their eyes darting back and forth across the yard, while
- 1:29:56some of my aunts and uncles walked in and out
- 1:29:58of the house periodically. It was like they were all
- 1:30:01waiting for something to happen. This feels very it, like
- 1:30:06how every twenty seven years or however long. I think
- 1:30:08it's twenty seven years.
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: I mean, the thing makes sense.
- 1:30:13Speaker 2: JUPI screamers would immediately maybe think of Tommy Taffy.
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: Oh yeah, yeah, this is Tommy Taffy. You're right. That's
- 1:30:19a perfect one to one draw.
- 1:30:21Speaker 2: Or at least just that kind of you know, and
- 1:30:22you know, just that world of creepy thing shows up
- 1:30:26at X time.
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: Kids, I'm Tommy Taffy.
- 1:30:28Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, not the drug's.
- 1:30:30Speaker 3: Gonna happen here.
- 1:30:33Speaker 4: Everything relied. We should really, uh read the rest of
- 1:30:37Tommy Taffy, I think to it.
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: Yeah, there's two more parts. We read half of it.
- 1:30:43Speaker 2: Oh wow, I didn't know.
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: Yeah. Hey, kids, Hey that's.
- 1:30:54Speaker 4: All.
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: Hell, that's that's a little bit. That's all of it.
- 1:30:59Speaker 2: There it is.
- 1:31:00Speaker 4: As I jumped into the bouncy castle along with the
- 1:31:03rest of my cousins, I noticed a movement in the
- 1:31:05bushes near the gate that led into the backyard. Continued
- 1:31:08to bounce, trying to get higher each time in order
- 1:31:10to get a better look at whatever was there. Finally
- 1:31:14saw the clown appear from behind the bushes and watched
- 1:31:16as he unlatched the gate.
- 1:31:18Speaker 2: Here we go.
- 1:31:19Speaker 4: I stopped bouncing and tried to maintain my balance as
- 1:31:21I watched the clown step into the yard close the
- 1:31:24gate behind himself. Pushed my fingers through the mesh in
- 1:31:26the bouncy castle and pressed my face against it, staring
- 1:31:29at the clown as he scanned the backyard until his
- 1:31:31eyes landed on me. Stared at me for a few seconds,
- 1:31:35and I stared back, not really knowing what to do.
- 1:31:38Nobody else seemed to have noticed him, yet my cousins
- 1:31:40continued bouncing around behind me. He was short and wore
- 1:31:43a curly, rainbow colored wig. His face was white, and
- 1:31:47it seemed like his skin was naturally that pale. It
- 1:31:50didn't look like pain at all. His lips were normal sized,
- 1:31:54but bright red. He had a giant, round red nose.
- 1:31:58His eyes were dark, so dark that I couldn't distinguish
- 1:32:01the pupil from the iris. He had two black lines
- 1:32:05that started above the black eyebrows and ran down his
- 1:32:08eyelids to the top of his cheeks, which appeared to
- 1:32:10be inflated with something. They were round and protruding with
- 1:32:14the pink blush on them. His skin was smooth like porcelain.
- 1:32:19He wore yellow polka dot pants that were held up
- 1:32:21by red suspenders, and a white shirt with giant red
- 1:32:24buttons down the front, red ruffles around the neck.
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: Chest, and sleeves.
- 1:32:28Speaker 4: He wore shiny red clown shoes, and he carried a
- 1:32:31gift bag in one hand. I don't know how long
- 1:32:33I stood there watching him, but suddenly I was being
- 1:32:35pulled out of the bouncy house by my mom. She
- 1:32:38dragged me to the table and set me down in
- 1:32:40a chair between herself and my dad. I continued to
- 1:32:42watch the clown as he approached my cousin Lisa and
- 1:32:45pulled out a pink balloon from his pocket in his pants.
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: He blew up the balloon and then twisted it into
- 1:32:50a dog, handing it to her.
- 1:32:52Speaker 4: She took the balloon dog from the clown and ran
- 1:32:54to her mom, my aunt Chelsea, who grabbed Lisa roughly
- 1:32:57and dragged her away from the clown. There was an
- 1:32:59impalpable amount of tension from the remainder of Jake's birthday party.
- 1:33:03Our parents wouldn't let us straight too far away, and
- 1:33:06the clowns staved the entire time, wandering around the yard
- 1:33:08and handing out balloon animals or honking his nose for
- 1:33:11the children. Yeah, you are completely right about this being
- 1:33:13a Tommy taffy thing.
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: Feels just like it.
- 1:33:16Speaker 4: When it came time to open Presence, we watched the
- 1:33:18shake unwrapped countless video games and action figures, along with
- 1:33:22a few clothing items. Once he finished opening the last
- 1:33:25gift from the family member, the clown walked up to
- 1:33:27Jake and handed him the gift bag.
- 1:33:29Speaker 1: He had been carrying around.
- 1:33:30Speaker 4: The entire party watched Jake's mom tried to stop the
- 1:33:33clown from handing Jake the gift on my uncle held
- 1:33:35her back.
- 1:33:39Speaker 2: What it's just funny, like, no, no, my uncle's hold
- 1:33:44her back, and Jake's like, cool, present, run kid, run
- 1:33:51god the.
- 1:33:54Speaker 4: I mean like, I mean ten, they should know something's up, Like,
- 1:33:59what's the problem ten years old?
- 1:34:01Speaker 1: Is your mom?
- 1:34:01Speaker 3: Like now?
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: And your uncle's like hold her back whatever. He's like,
- 1:34:06oh that close, thank you for the gift. It's a
- 1:34:10fucking idiot. What the fuck that would be you.
- 1:34:20Speaker 2: Candy. I'm like, that's super hugly, thank you.
- 1:34:23Speaker 1: Your mom's crying and you're like, what's your problem exactly?
- 1:34:26Speaker 2: Mamould you shut the fuck up. I'm eating candy and boogers.
- 1:34:29Speaker 5: Jesus, the fucking problem Jeu.
- 1:34:36Speaker 4: We all washed his shake think the clown and open
- 1:34:38the gift bag, taking out handfuls of tissue paper until
- 1:34:41he reached in.
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: And pulled out the gift.
- 1:34:43Speaker 2: It's a book.
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: I saw his mom sign relief.
- 1:34:46Speaker 4: Jake turned the book over and his hands looking at it.
- 1:34:49Speaker 1: It was a small hard come.
- 1:34:53Speaker 4: Just just laughing if the bomb was If the book
- 1:34:57was like a bomb, yeah, just kills everyone in the party, like, oh,
- 1:35:04thank you for the boom. It was a small hardcover
- 1:35:11book with a glossy dust jacket that had a drawing
- 1:35:13of a beach on it. Jake thanked the clown and
- 1:35:16walked away from him, through the gate and away from
- 1:35:18the house. Once he was gone, Jake's dad snatched the
- 1:35:21book from him. I asked him about it later, but
- 1:35:24he told me his parents thrown it out. Saw the
- 1:35:26clown A few times after that, at every cousin's tenth
- 1:35:29birthday party, he would show up in the same outfit
- 1:35:32every time and give them a hardcover picture book that
- 1:35:34their parents.
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: Would get rid of. Yeah. This I like the idea.
- 1:35:37Speaker 4: If it's like a family curse, like maybe generations back.
- 1:35:40One of them made a deal or something, and now
- 1:35:42this entity shows up at every party and they have
- 1:35:44to just let it happen or else.
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: To go again.
- 1:35:47Speaker 4: It's one of those rule things. The consequences of getting
- 1:35:49rid of it are worse than putting up with it,
- 1:35:51whatever that means. When I was ten, the same thing happened,
- 1:35:56and although I begged my parents to let me see
- 1:35:57the book, they declined. To my birthday party, snuck out
- 1:36:01of my room and saw my dad go up into
- 1:36:03the attic with my book. Tried to find it a
- 1:36:05few times after that day, but he had hidden it well.
- 1:36:08It was nowhere to be seen. I once asked my
- 1:36:11parents why any of us had birthday parties if they
- 1:36:14were so afraid of the clown, but they told me
- 1:36:17that the clown would show up anyway. He always knew
- 1:36:20he did see the clown. For a couple of years,
- 1:36:24all my cousins had passed the age of ten, and
- 1:36:26none of them were old enough to have their own children. Yet,
- 1:36:29when I turned twenty, my parents died in a car
- 1:36:31accident and I inherited their house. By that time, I'd
- 1:36:35forgotten all about the clown in the book and didn't
- 1:36:37care to read it or figure out why they had
- 1:36:39taken it away. And then, about twelve years later, my
- 1:36:43daughter Wendy had her tenth birthday party. My wife knew
- 1:36:47about the clown, and we had already seen it appear
- 1:36:49once before at Jake's twins birthday party. We had prepared
- 1:36:52Wendy and had given her the same warnings my parents
- 1:36:55had given me be nice to the clown. About thirty
- 1:36:57minutes into the party, the clown jumped over the back
- 1:37:00yard fence and wandered over to the table where Wendy
- 1:37:02and her cousins were getting makeovers. Stopped myself from running
- 1:37:06over and stopping him. He looked exactly as I remembered him,
- 1:37:10not a single thing a change, not even his outfit.
- 1:37:13I watched as he caught my niece Alice's eye, pulled
- 1:37:16out a blue balloon from his pocket. He blew the
- 1:37:18balloon up, pulled out another blue one, and then used
- 1:37:22them both to form a hat she gently placed on
- 1:37:24her head. I watched as she thanked him, and he
- 1:37:27clapped his hands together and then continued to walk around
- 1:37:29my backyard. Nobody ever tried to stop him, because we
- 1:37:33had always been warned not to. We were never specifically
- 1:37:36told what would happen if we tried, but we knew
- 1:37:38it was bad.
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: None of us wanted to find out what it would be.
- 1:37:42Speaker 4: When it was time to open presents, I continued to
- 1:37:44eye the gift bag in the clown's hand. Once Wendy
- 1:37:47was done with opening the gifts given to her by
- 1:37:49family members, the clown approached her and handed her the bag.
- 1:37:53She took it gently, slowly opened it, digging around the
- 1:37:56tissue paper until.
- 1:37:57Speaker 2: She pulled out the book.
- 1:37:59Speaker 4: Thank you, she said, smiling at the clown. He took
- 1:38:03a bow, then walked away, jumping back over the fence.
- 1:38:07I led out a sigh of relief. Once he was gone,
- 1:38:09and I approached Wendy, taking the book from her. She
- 1:38:12didn't seem to mind that it was being taken. She
- 1:38:14seemed glad.
- 1:38:16Speaker 1: I decided to hide it up.
- 1:38:17Speaker 4: In the attic, just as my parents had done with me,
- 1:38:20But as I stared at it in my hands, curiosity
- 1:38:23was beginning to set in. It was the same as
- 1:38:26all the other books I had seen, hardcover, with a
- 1:38:29glossy dust jacket that contained a drawing on the front,
- 1:38:31but no title. This one had a drawing of a
- 1:38:34girl that resembled Wendy standing in front of a birthday
- 1:38:37cake and about to blow out the candles. She had
- 1:38:40the same curly brown hair and green eyes as Wendy.
- 1:38:43I opened the book and noticed an inscription on the
- 1:38:45inside of the cover that said.
- 1:38:47Speaker 1: Happy tenth Birthday, Windy.
- 1:38:50Speaker 4: The first page was blank, but the next page that's
- 1:38:52where the story started. There was a drawing of the
- 1:38:55girl on the cover wearing a party hat and holding
- 1:38:57a pile of gifts. Under that it read.
- 1:39:00Speaker 5: Today is Whitney's tenth How happy is she? She got
- 1:39:05every gift she wants even though she doesn't need.
- 1:39:08Speaker 4: Turned the page as I continued to read the story
- 1:39:10that depicted various shrines of a girl that resembled my daughter.
- 1:39:14She did various birthday party activities.
- 1:39:16Speaker 5: Widney elapsed a log with friends and all the guests
- 1:39:19are filled with glee. Whitty tries to sneak a peek
- 1:39:22at every gift that she receives.
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: There were drawings of Wendy with family and friends, everyone
- 1:39:28smiling and hugging Wendy.
- 1:39:30Speaker 5: It did from beyond the backyard fit Who's the best
- 1:39:34guest of the ball?
- 1:39:36Speaker 1: A fuddy funny cloud here to have a ball.
- 1:39:40Speaker 4: On the man, I'm so hooked in right now. On
- 1:39:43that page was a drawing of the clown as it
- 1:39:45jumped over the fence.
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: Her name.
- 1:39:48Speaker 5: This cloud loves to party, and it loves its tenth
- 1:39:51birthdays too. He will never miss a chance to show
- 1:39:55up where he's due.
- 1:39:56Speaker 1: The next drawn was at the clown in the center
- 1:39:58of the page, surrounded by.
- 1:40:00Speaker 5: But this birthday's a bit different, except the big is
- 1:40:04going to happen.
- 1:40:06Speaker 2: The cloud is so excited this doesn't happen.
- 1:40:10Speaker 4: Often got a little like I'm looking around the room
- 1:40:15getting a little friends out. I turned the page to
- 1:40:17see a drawing to the clown running around the party,
- 1:40:20chasing guests who appear to be frightened. They've been drawn
- 1:40:23with their mouths open and wide eyed as they ran
- 1:40:25away from the clown.
- 1:40:27Speaker 2: The clown runs around the yard and pulls something from
- 1:40:30his pocket, not a balloon, not a magic handkerchief, with
- 1:40:35something big and sharp and shiny.
- 1:40:38Speaker 4: The next page is a drawing of a gleaming butcher
- 1:40:40knife dripping with blood.
- 1:40:43Speaker 2: A lot of guests must die, but don't worry, Windy
- 1:40:46will be fined.
- 1:40:48Speaker 4: The next four pages contained various drawings of the clowns
- 1:40:50slaughtering people at the birthday party. Some of their next
- 1:40:53sliced open, some are stabbed, some lost body parts.
- 1:40:57Speaker 2: The clown's fun he's jobbing has been done. Happy tenth
- 1:41:02birthday to Wendy. He will see you at the next one.
- 1:41:06Speaker 4: The last drawing was of the clown jumping back over
- 1:41:09the fence, leaving a pile of dead bodies behind him.
- 1:41:12I shut the book as a chill ran down my spine.
- 1:41:14I realized why our parents ever showed us the books,
- 1:41:17especially if they were all this creepy.
- 1:41:19Speaker 1: I wonder why the clown would even give us these books.
- 1:41:22Speaker 4: I decided to do as my parents had done and
- 1:41:24get rid of the book at the end of the party.
- 1:41:26So I tossed the book on top of the fridge.
- 1:41:28Heard the first scream and ran to the door and
- 1:41:30threw it open, just in time to see everyone running
- 1:41:32away from the clown. He was back, and he stood
- 1:41:35right by the fence with a butcher knife in his hands.
- 1:41:37On the ground next to him was my cousin, Paola's child, Trevor,
- 1:41:41face down in the grass. I scanned the backyard looking
- 1:41:44for Wendy, but she was nowhere to be seen. All
- 1:41:47the gats ran across the yard, trying to get as
- 1:41:49far away from the clown as possible. I watched as
- 1:41:52Jake tossed his children over the fence into his neighbor's yard,
- 1:41:55followed by his husband and then himself. I looked for
- 1:41:58my wife and I spotted her running towards me into
- 1:42:00the house. Where's Wendy, I asked, grabbing her arm.
- 1:42:04Speaker 1: She jumped the fence a while ago. She's fine, We
- 1:42:06need to hide.
- 1:42:07Speaker 4: She dragged me inside with her as the screams continued.
- 1:42:10A few more family members made it inside and we
- 1:42:12hid in the kitchen in the living room. After a while,
- 1:42:14the screams died out, and I slowly got up, opening
- 1:42:17the door and peering out in the backyard. He's gone, said,
- 1:42:20as I threw open the door and walked outside. There
- 1:42:23were a total of ten dead people, and a few
- 1:42:25minutes after the cops arrived, so did Jake, his family,
- 1:42:28and Wendy. I ran to her as I saw coming
- 1:42:31up the driveway, picking her up into my arms.
- 1:42:34Speaker 2: I'm so glad you're okay.
- 1:42:36Speaker 4: I kept her by my side for the rest of
- 1:42:38the night as we answered questions. I didn't tell the
- 1:42:40police that I knew the clown, as they would never
- 1:42:42believe my story about the curse, said, We all told
- 1:42:44them we had no idea who the clown was and
- 1:42:47that we hadn't hired anyone. Hours later, everyone was finally gone.
- 1:42:52Wendy had gone to bed, and I went downstairs and
- 1:42:54helped my wife clean up some of the best. Once
- 1:42:57we were done, grabbed the book from the top of
- 1:42:59the fridge and handed it to her.
- 1:43:01Speaker 2: What's this, it's what he gave a rose read it.
- 1:43:07Speaker 4: I waited for her to finish reading the book. When
- 1:43:09she was done, she tossed it on in the counter.
- 1:43:11Speaker 2: What the fuck did he plan all that?
- 1:43:14Speaker 1: Is this supposed to be some stupid joke? I shrugged.
- 1:43:18Speaker 2: Did this happen to everyone else? I don't know. Our
- 1:43:22parents never let us read the books. This is so
- 1:43:24fucked up.
- 1:43:25Speaker 4: David stood in silence. His Rose grabbed the book again,
- 1:43:28giving it a disgusted look.
- 1:43:30Speaker 2: I'm gonna go look for something.
- 1:43:32Speaker 4: I made my way to the attic entrance in the
- 1:43:33hall and pulled down the ladder. Slowly made my way up,
- 1:43:36each stepped creaking as I stood on it. When I
- 1:43:39reached the top, I flipped a switch and the lights
- 1:43:41turned on, illuminating the attic enough for me to see.
- 1:43:44I dug through countless boxes and moved old to corn
- 1:43:46furniture around until I found it book that had been
- 1:43:49given to me on my tenth birthday, that hid it
- 1:43:52under the cushion of an old chair. I pulled it
- 1:43:55out and looked at the drawings of the house with
- 1:43:57a single light on in one of the windows. Opened
- 1:44:00the book and found a similar engraving on the inside cover.
- 1:44:03Speaker 2: That read there had be tenths.
- 1:44:05Speaker 4: David turned the pages and began to read the story,
- 1:44:07ignoring the pictures.
- 1:44:09Speaker 5: Today is David's tenth birthday. What a good one it
- 1:44:13will be. David eats pizza. His favorite topic is cheese.
- 1:44:17He has a water blue fight with his cousin Eric
- 1:44:20and they take cover in the trees.
- 1:44:22Speaker 1: Everything is fun and suit it will be great. Here
- 1:44:25comes to clown.
- 1:44:26Speaker 2: He's never late.
- 1:44:28Speaker 5: David's birthday was a blast, and his gifts were also fun.
- 1:44:32But don't be sad that it's over. The fun is
- 1:44:34just begun. Views go by, and the clown sees David again.
- 1:44:39It's now his daughter's tenth birthday.
- 1:44:40Speaker 2: Today the fun. A lot of guests had fun and
- 1:44:44for others this day was their last. But David's family
- 1:44:47is alive. Think the clown for that. And now it's
- 1:44:51time for bed. Time to get some sleep. Don't forget
- 1:44:54to check on Wendy. She hasn't made a peep.
- 1:45:00Speaker 1: Bro that's the final, oh man.
- 1:45:04Speaker 4: The final drawing in the book showed an empty bed
- 1:45:07in a dark room with a window that was wide open.
- 1:45:10Speaker 1: I stared at it for a second before it hit me.
- 1:45:12Speaker 4: I tossed the book aside as I got a sinking
- 1:45:14feeling in the pit of my stomach.
- 1:45:16Speaker 1: Something was wrong.
- 1:45:18Speaker 3: What's going on?
- 1:45:21Speaker 4: I did a reply as I hurried down the ladder
- 1:45:23and ran down to the hall in a Wendy's bedroom,
- 1:45:25throwing the door open, flipped the light on, looked around
- 1:45:28the room, but it was too late.
- 1:45:30Speaker 1: She was gone. Bed was empty and her window was
- 1:45:33wide open.
- 1:45:35Speaker 3: Ah.
- 1:45:36Speaker 2: That is such a good ending, I'll tell you right now.
- 1:45:40I was like, I don't know, like killer clown with
- 1:45:42a knife, blah blah blah. That that little last bit
- 1:45:46there at the end, totally fucking kilding.
- 1:45:48Speaker 1: Yeah, I did it.
- 1:45:49Speaker 4: Well, But I kind of figured as they were explaining
- 1:45:52everything that the whole part about the book because it
- 1:45:59says this doesn't happen often, and then it goes to
- 1:46:01like the clown's murder spree.
- 1:46:03Speaker 1: So the book only comes true.
- 1:46:05Speaker 4: If you look at it. If you don't look at it,
- 1:46:07like all the parents did, it doesn't happen.
- 1:46:09Speaker 2: It's the beckoning. It's like literally a seance. The book
- 1:46:12is a seance that when you read it, it like
- 1:46:14it is something that when you flip through the pages,
- 1:46:16it like is basically creating a seance for you and
- 1:46:19gives the clown like or whatever fucking entity this clown is,
- 1:46:23the ability to come back and like take people's lives.
- 1:46:26Also the reason why that the adults are just like
- 1:46:28just throw it away, just never even look at it ever,
- 1:46:30you know, such a fun way of going about it,
- 1:46:33you know, I cause at first I was like, you know,
- 1:46:35I really like the setup. I like the whole idea
- 1:46:37of this book, and I was like, would it be
- 1:46:39more effective if literally it was just like the person
- 1:46:42the kid that it was like if you read it,
- 1:46:44the kid gets taken, like you don't know what happens
- 1:46:46to him, But it is fun that it's like this
- 1:46:49killing spree thing. But see, I think that the ending
- 1:46:51it really is where it's just like wait, what the
- 1:46:53fuck and you go down and it's gone, and to
- 1:46:55the pictures that are accompanied by it, it's so creepy.
- 1:46:58Like I love the idea too that it's like, you know,
- 1:47:00it opens and the book is already formed, like it's
- 1:47:03like by you touching it, opening it, it's already done,
- 1:47:05like the seal is broken.
- 1:47:08Speaker 4: It's also so many is because I know it's supernatural,
- 1:47:10but it's so wild to think that at David, when
- 1:47:13he was ten, at his tenth birthday party, he got
- 1:47:16a book and then in that book was the detail
- 1:47:18of his daughter.
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: When she's ten, how she'll be kidnapped by the clown.
- 1:47:21That's such a cool time.
- 1:47:23Speaker 2: Do you think that it's that or do you think
- 1:47:24that because I read it like this that I think
- 1:47:26that the books are empty and whoever opens said book,
- 1:47:31it's like that whatever seal is broken, that's how the
- 1:47:33book manifests its story.
- 1:47:35Speaker 1: I mean, it could certainly be that way.
- 1:47:38Speaker 4: It's like the vessel for it, yeah, or the clowns
- 1:47:40like some entity that knows when the book will be open.
- 1:47:43Speaker 2: So it's pretty if it is that foreshadowing or it
- 1:47:46just knows that he's like, oh, it's not going to
- 1:47:47open up yet. It's almost like this predestination thing. That's
- 1:47:50also pretty fucked up. I think that for a killer
- 1:47:53clown story. Honestly banged, that was fucking sick.
- 1:47:58Speaker 4: That's one of the better killer clown stories I've ever read.
- 1:48:00This author goes stupid hard in the paint. By the way, also,
- 1:48:05just it's been awesome.
- 1:48:06Speaker 2: We had the same thing with last episode with the
- 1:48:09spelunking kind of tortuous uh you know, the torturous spelunking
- 1:48:15claustrophobic nightmare where it's just that nice, short and sweet.
- 1:48:19These are all just this like just like a nice,
- 1:48:23like palatable story that's just like a fun, quick read.
- 1:48:27Like I would love to see a compilation of these
- 1:48:29stories in a book, like almost like scary stories to
- 1:48:31tone in the dark. Like it has that kind of
- 1:48:33thing where it's you could like sit down and read
- 1:48:35it to your friends and you get freaked out.
- 1:48:36Speaker 1: Like, oh read another one. Oh no, well wait, you.
- 1:48:38Speaker 2: Know, it's just it has that kind of digestibility that
- 1:48:41I think is really really fun.
- 1:48:43Speaker 1: Mm hmm. Yeah, this author does great.
- 1:48:47Speaker 4: Just scrolling through the rest of their stuff, there's so
- 1:48:49many times, like some of these titles.
- 1:48:51Speaker 1: How would you like to Die today?
- 1:48:53Speaker 4: The boy in the paperbag mask, Uh, the elevator at
- 1:48:57work took me to a floor that doesn't exist, Like
- 1:48:59all of these sounds so good. And also, like I said,
- 1:49:01the Point Pine there is an entire series about Point Pine.
- 1:49:04Speaker 2: There's gonna be.
- 1:49:06Speaker 1: That we should have a Point Pinea.
- 1:49:08Speaker 2: We got to get a Point Pine read through.
- 1:49:10Speaker 4: Because look's listen to some of these titles from the
- 1:49:12Point Pine series. The Day the Angel came. There's a
- 1:49:16new guy in town and we don't like him. The
- 1:49:18thing in the giant bear costume won't stop handing out popcorn.
- 1:49:23Speaker 2: That's so good.
- 1:49:26Speaker 1: I love it, by the way, because listen to this one.
- 1:49:28Listen to this one.
- 1:49:29Speaker 4: Due to recent violent events, pumpkins are no longer allowed
- 1:49:33in Point Pine.
- 1:49:36Speaker 1: That's awesome.
- 1:49:37Speaker 2: I love it because I think that Gabby uses uh
- 1:49:41the title like the scheming of these r slash no
- 1:49:43sleep things to really like make it something very enticing,
- 1:49:47Like it uses the format in a really great fucking way,
- 1:49:49and I think that it goes to show that people
- 1:49:51are connecting with it with the amount of like, you know,
- 1:49:54a vote she gets in the kind of like fan
- 1:49:56base she appears to have. I think it's just fucking awesome.
- 1:49:58So I will say that if you enjoyed the stories
- 1:50:00today as much as we did, please go support EA
- 1:50:03p A TBP. That's the user name for Gabby on Reddit.
- 1:50:08You can look at our entire body of work there.
- 1:50:10It's fucking awesome. There's so many it's this is just
- 1:50:13such a fun to read.
- 1:50:14Speaker 1: Man.
- 1:50:15Speaker 2: I had a great time in this episode.
- 1:50:17Speaker 4: One month ago, Gabby has a story called if You
- 1:50:20Meet Me, Please Kill Me. Like, these titles are great.
- 1:50:22Every one of them makes me want to see what
- 1:50:24the rest of the story is about. This is Yeah,
- 1:50:26I understand why, like they're considered no sleep royalty to
- 1:50:31all their stuff does well because so far we've read
- 1:50:33four and normally when we read through a bunch of
- 1:50:36authors stuff, there's like, ah, that one wasn't that great,
- 1:50:38that one wasn't that great.
- 1:50:39Speaker 1: All four of those short stories were awesome.
- 1:50:41Speaker 2: Yeah, and you know it just goes to show that once.
- 1:50:44Here's the thing too, when doing the creative process of
- 1:50:46writing and stuff, you're going to write some things where
- 1:50:49things just like hey, just doesn't line up or people
- 1:50:51don't resonate with it that doesn't necessarily get you know,
- 1:50:53it's not like that doesn't give it any value. It's
- 1:50:56just impressive seeing a writer here where the stories that
- 1:50:58we read, which granted they were the top voted ones,
- 1:51:01are the most up voted ones basically, but the amount
- 1:51:05and with how consistent she's been with posting. It's just
- 1:51:09cool to see somebody that's still active, still being creative,
- 1:51:11because we do read a lot of stuff where somebody
- 1:51:13it was just like somebody's phase where they were like
- 1:51:15I just wanted to write it was the one here. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:51:18So it's it's cool to see somebody that's still proactive
- 1:51:20in writing and still has this like creative itch to
- 1:51:22get out there and make shit because it's fucking draining, man,
- 1:51:25it's hard. And then two, if things don't kind of
- 1:51:27like line up for you, it's very easy to like,
- 1:51:29you know, let the wind out of your sales and
- 1:51:31just kind of be like fuck it, never mind, I'm
- 1:51:33just not going to So to see somebody who is
- 1:51:35so motivated in writing, I just think is really cool
- 1:51:38and I definitely want to give that shout out and
- 1:51:40please go support these and read them, give them up votes,
- 1:51:43comment on them, engage with them, show your buddies. That's
- 1:51:45the best way to support these people.
- 1:51:48Speaker 1: What was your favorite other ones who read today?
- 1:51:51Speaker 2: Oh, man, I don't know. I mean ending wise, I
- 1:51:54really enjoyed the clown one. The clown uh, that one
- 1:51:57was really great, you know.
- 1:52:03Speaker 1: I like of the narrator one a lot, like the
- 1:52:06pre a lot.
- 1:52:07Speaker 2: I think if I had to say which one I
- 1:52:09like the most, I think every month the parade, And
- 1:52:10I think that's just because the concept of that monster
- 1:52:12is a lot of fun. I enjoyed the world that
- 1:52:15point Pine was setting me up to do. But even
- 1:52:18just like the little bits, that was the thing though
- 1:52:19with all of these, I feel like the ending really
- 1:52:21in every single one of these, the ending really it
- 1:52:25had a nice strong fucking punch at the end, which
- 1:52:28was good. Even There's a man who follows me around,
- 1:52:30Like the counting at the end I think was fucking fantastic,
- 1:52:33even though conceptually I feel like the idea of there's
- 1:52:36a man who follows me around. I think that one
- 1:52:38was the most frightening of just an idea of a
- 1:52:40man that's like just around you at all times, kind
- 1:52:43of narrating your life, and then he kind of slowly
- 1:52:45starts to predict your death or he's like an angel
- 1:52:47of death. It's just really cool. But I will say
- 1:52:49I think I liked all of them in their own respects,
- 1:52:51Like I don't think anyone I don't think any one
- 1:52:53of them overshadowed any any of the others. Like they
- 1:52:55all felt very on par with quality.
- 1:53:00Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I think they think they banged. That was good.
- 1:53:04Speaker 4: All those stories were great. Yeah, support the author, Gabby
- 1:53:07deserves it. Those were awesome. Please keep writing stuff I
- 1:53:11need more.
- 1:53:12Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 1:53:13Speaker 4: Also, the point pine the last I don't know if
- 1:53:15the series is done because there's eight parts in the
- 1:53:17last one was five years ago, so the series may
- 1:53:19be completed now. Who knows anything you could for Gabby
- 1:53:23and the description, please shout it out.
- 1:53:26Speaker 2: Yeah, and just to reiterate again just because I don't
- 1:53:28know if there's a way we're supposed to be saying it.
- 1:53:30But the username is capital E, lowercase A, capital P,
- 1:53:34capital A lowercase T b P. So please do go
- 1:53:39check them out. Be sure to show them some love.
- 1:53:40And I think that it's just just a lot of fun.
- 1:53:44It's just cool saying once again, I love whenever we
- 1:53:46find readers that are writers that are still active and
- 1:53:49still making stuff. It's just really exciting. So and also
- 1:53:52just wanted to say real quick, thank you so much
- 1:53:54for if you've listened to this on Spotify, I have
- 1:53:56a podcast, be sure to give us a nice rating there.
- 1:53:59It really does help us out. And until next time, everyone,
- 1:54:01stay creeped and stay creative, keep writing.
- 1:54:04Speaker 1: We love it.
- 1:54:05Speaker 2: Also, once again, like I said at the top of
- 1:54:06the episode, thank you so much, you guys are the
- 1:54:08best fucking fan base any podcaster discover asked for. We
- 1:54:12appreciate you, and we'll see you in the next one.
- 1:54:16Speaker 1: We will see you, guys in the next one.
- 1:54:18Speaker 4: And if a random clown shows up at a kid's
- 1:54:21tenth birthday party and gives you a book, don't read
- 1:54:23it unless you really don't like that kid.
- 1:54:26Speaker 1: Bye.
