  I mean, do you, I know you do because I know you, you realize

  the kind of gravitas you have of leading such a historic program?

  Absolutely. It was part of the, you know,

  part of the appeal. Of taking the job in the 1st

  place I'm I'm a Bay Area kid yeah.

  A. A chance to, you know, chart a

  new path of such historical program and try to make the

  alums proud of what we're trying to produce.

  right so tonight we're you're talking about the NCAA.

  What's your opinion on and you get to take this any direction

  you want nil, roster, caps, recruiting etcetera, etcetera.

  What's your thoughts on all the things going on with the NCAA?

  My initial. Thoughts.

  There's a lot of thoughts, feelings and opinions folding
• 1:58
  around and the fact of the matter is, at this moment we
• 2:00
  don't know enough. About, yeah.

  I'm not a person that is naturally resistant to change.

  I try to embrace it. I try to find, you know,
• 2:11
  opportunities to to do what we do at a higher level, no matter
• 2:14
  what the. Circumstances, right?

  So right now I'm very much in a holding pattern.

  I want to see, you know, what comes out of the house.

  Right, right, right. Yeah.

  The opportunity for 45 scholarships, 35 scholarships
• 2:51
  that some programs are already in embracing and already reaping
• 2:55
  the. Benefits of the.

  Fact of the matter is that reality has, will cause and is

  causing a Grand Canyon size gap within division.

  OK. And there's no.

  Way that. You can.

  Hasn't there already been? Not like this, OK, More not

  like. This OK, I'll.

  Give you an example a year ago in our previous season.

  Sounds like they produced 7 male all.

  Americans right in various events, right?

  That was with the idea that my scholarship budget was 12.6.

  Right. There's no universe that exists

  now moving forward where I would have even the 12.6, but everyone
• 3:34
  at that meet. In theory, if you were fully
• 3:37
  funded, was it minimum operating off of the 12.6?

  Right now you're. Telling me.

  That my reality means I get less and people in in big conferences
• 3:46
  are going to be at 40. Five, Yeah.

  It's already hard enough. To I see, Yeah, the gap is

  going. To be.

  Yeah, if that was some kind of geography nerd, I'd be able to

  like whatever is a little smaller than the Grand Canyon

  and now the Grand Canyon, but a little hole now, a big hole, big

  change. Yeah.

  And so like I said, for programs.

  Like myself. You know, balance is probably

  going to be out the door. We're going to have to.

  Yeah, I wondered about that. And offer.

  Those opportunities. To young people and.

  Hopefully. Yeah, You know, I appreciate

  someone who says that they're someone who's not resistant to

  change, because that's my style as well.

  It'll be interesting because there's other people like, like

  us here amongst our coaching brethren that'll be like this.

  It'll be interesting to see. I think we'll be strong, but I

  think we'll be changed. Oh, change.

  No. Doubt.

  Yeah, I mean. Cataclysmic change like it's

  it's not going to look like anything that's.

  Ever looked like? Right, once all this dust has

  set. All right, so we're asking

  everybody, because this will be replayed in a year from now as

  we're leading into the 2025 convention, give us your

  prediction. Doesn't have to be NCAA house

  versus NCAA. It could be we're going to break

  our 200 meter school record. It could be we'll have nobody on
• 4:57
  the Olympic team. I don't know.

  Well, there's no Olympics, but we will have nobody on the
• 5:00
  Olympic team next year. I'll just take that prediction

  off to play, but we're going to see if you're right next
• 5:05
  December I I think. Other than just the NCAA shift,

  I I think the new world athletic schedule is.

  Going to make it a lot more. Difficult for NCAA athletes to
• 5:17
  make those teams. In general, right be.

  It. Foreign teams or.

  Americans, yeah. So I.

  Think something that you could point to in 2025.

  I think they're going to. See a lot less collegiate making

  the American. Team Wow, how late USA's.

  Is yeah versus how? Close it's been.

  To the end, it's usually just it's the next week, you know,

  Yeah. It's 2.

  Months apart now and just just the mechanism of keeping.

  Kids on campus and allowing them, yeah.

  Do do programs want to invest that kind of?

  Time and energy, right? Yeah.

  That's a good prediction. I like that.

  That's because that'll be one we'll be able to actually tell

  like, oh, how many made it in last year?
