A blue plaque is being funded to honor Wang Fanxi, the brilliant Chinese Trotskyist exiled from China in 1949 who spent his final decades in Leeds, where he became a revered intellectual and activist. Once a CCP member turned Trotskyist, he was imprisoned, expelled, and later found refuge in Britain, where he tirelessly promoted workers’ rights, critiqued Maoism, and mentored the Chinese immigrant community.
