- 0:10Speaker 1: Patriot's Unfiltered. Saturday Night of Buffalo South. It's gonna be
- 0:15Speaker 1: cold again, yeah, weather for you, Fred, Yes, Okay, it's
- 0:18Speaker 1: been going around. Sure, the weather's been going around. But
- 0:20Speaker 1: I think we all know right now what the game
- 0:22Speaker 1: has to look like for them to win. Patriots, like
- 0:25Speaker 1: taking the ball, maybe scoring a touchdown. Hey, nothing. Mike
- 0:32Speaker 1: was on another level on Sunday. I think you had said,
- 0:34Speaker 1: you know, it's like, what have you been doing for
- 0:36Speaker 1: four months? That's a great question by Mike right there.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Mike is just like going on rants about the defense
- 0:41Speaker 1: and ripping everything. Juice was making fun of me on
- 0:44Speaker 1: Sundays that right, So I'm like apoplectic, I'm going off,
- 0:47Speaker 1: and Paul's just sitting there his feet up. It's really
- 0:49Speaker 1: hard to argue with. Mike cares like a guest on
- 0:53Speaker 1: The Tonight Show in the sixties, you know, with a cigarette.
- 0:56Speaker 1: Suddenly Paul was the second most negative guy in the show.
- 0:59Speaker 1: If you have a podcast in Boston, you're listening to
- 1:01Speaker 1: ours right on how to do It? Did you watch it.
- 1:04Speaker 1: I was at a Hooters. I watched the whole fol
- 1:06Speaker 1: Oh yeah, this is Patriot's Unfiltered, fueled by Duncan. All right,
- 1:13Speaker 1: welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. It is Wednesday here at Gillette Stadium.
- 1:18Speaker 1: I'm not even gonna get into what day. It really is.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Kind of Thursday, kind of a Thursday. Yeah. Well but yeah,
- 1:24Speaker 1: so we're here for the next two hours talking Buffalo
- 1:27Speaker 1: Bills wild Card weekend. Saturday night in Buffalo, super zero degrees,
- 1:34Speaker 1: cold cold cole um. But I was listening this morning
- 1:38Speaker 1: to one of Paul's shows and a notable ex Patriot
- 1:44Speaker 1: came down on the side of Eric Scallavino. Take the ball,
- 1:47Speaker 1: he said, the Patriots. This is Rob Nikovich. He said
- 1:50Speaker 1: that the Patriots should take the ball first. Uh, because
- 1:54Speaker 1: they need to get out in front. That's the defensive guys. Yeah. Yeah,
- 1:59Speaker 1: I don't agree with him, but that's what he said.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Rages on. Yeah, if they take the ball and then
- 2:05Speaker 1: they go three and out, I'm going to attack Eric.
- 2:08Speaker 1: I said this yesterday I went home. I wouldn't kill
- 2:10Speaker 1: any team for taking the ball or whatever, but so
- 2:14Speaker 1: I want to I do want to attack Rob Nikovic
- 2:17Speaker 1: in his mentality, so he wants to take the ball
- 2:21Speaker 1: so they can get the lead, right, right, What game
- 2:25Speaker 1: do you not want to get the lead? Right? What
- 2:28Speaker 1: game do you go in and say, you know what,
- 2:31Speaker 1: I hope the other team scores first today. I'm a
- 2:33Speaker 1: matter of fact, I'm gonna try to make it easier
- 2:35Speaker 1: for him. I'm gonna give you the ball first. City
- 2:38Speaker 1: chiefs of the past few years had the people right
- 2:40Speaker 1: where they wanted them in the first quarter, give up,
- 2:42Speaker 1: you know, three touchdowns, second quarter, boom boom, boom, boom boom,
- 2:45Speaker 1: we got the lead. At halftime, you're done. Yeah, up
- 2:48Speaker 1: for a challenge today. And the only team I can
- 2:49Speaker 1: think of that actually did that. No, but do you
- 2:51Speaker 1: think that they wanted to do? Of course not. I'm
- 2:52Speaker 1: just being so like the idea of I'm gonna take
- 2:56Speaker 1: the ball because I want to get the lead is
- 2:59Speaker 1: like silly to me. It's kind of like saying, we
- 3:02Speaker 1: gotta we gotta run the ball and stop the run.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Oh it's the guy who from we got our guy.
- 3:07Speaker 1: We gotta we gotta go, we gotta win the battle
- 3:11Speaker 1: of the line of skirmish. I almost almost bulled to
- 3:16Speaker 1: fread right there, almost for no reason, no poop. Well especially,
- 3:22Speaker 1: I mean, and I know this is what you're saying,
- 3:23Speaker 1: Like Buffalo is seven nothing lead to them in that
- 3:26Speaker 1: offense and the first time of the game. Don't get
- 3:28Speaker 1: me wrong, I think the first touchdown is normous. I
- 3:30Speaker 1: think the first touchdown is enormous. I think if Buffalo
- 3:33Speaker 1: falls behind and they start thinking about it absolutely Conversely,
- 3:37Speaker 1: the way the Patriots have played from behind, they fall behind,
- 3:40Speaker 1: bad news. Like I think the first touchdown is important,
- 3:43Speaker 1: but I think it's important in every game. Yeah, I think.
- 3:47Speaker 1: I think for the Patriots getting ahead, if they have
- 3:50Speaker 1: a seven nothing lead, you know, the pressure is on Buffalo.
- 3:54Speaker 1: For Buffalo, you have to get ahead of them by
- 3:59Speaker 1: really though two scores to to really you know, make
- 4:04Speaker 1: it then. And I think the same thing with the Patriots.
- 4:06Speaker 1: I think if the Patriots fall behind by ten or more,
- 4:09Speaker 1: oh yeah, it's gonna be tough. I'd even I'd even
- 4:13Speaker 1: argue Buffalo even if you get down two scores, they're
- 4:16Speaker 1: still capable of coming. They're capable, but the thoughts start
- 4:21Speaker 1: coming into their head. Yeah, I mean, but that's with
- 4:23Speaker 1: most teams. Like most teams, you get down two scores,
- 4:25Speaker 1: it's tough. To come back from that most teams, but
- 4:27Speaker 1: there are some teams, some teams they don't care. Like
- 4:30Speaker 1: Kansas City. I would never rule them out. Like old Patriots,
- 4:33Speaker 1: I would never rule them out down two scores from
- 4:36Speaker 1: from say like two thousand and three to two thousand
- 4:39Speaker 1: and eighteen. Exclusive, I would never have ruled the Patriots
- 4:42Speaker 1: out of the game. They fell behind. One thing I
- 4:44Speaker 1: you know, Nikevich did say this morning that I did
- 4:47Speaker 1: kind of you know, agree with is you got to
- 4:51Speaker 1: just tell these people, especially Mac, let's just go out
- 4:53Speaker 1: and play. Have fun. You know, it's it's yeah, it's
- 4:56Speaker 1: the playoffs, but just go out and relax and play
- 4:59Speaker 1: your game and don't worry about it, because I think
- 5:02Speaker 1: the pressure really is on the Bills in this game.
- 5:04Speaker 1: Yeah right, So, yeah, there's always more pressure on the favorite.
- 5:09Speaker 1: The home team has more pressure. Yeah, the home team
- 5:12Speaker 1: is should be favored and should win most of that.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Like I was joking around about this this morning with Deuce.
- 5:17Speaker 1: I mean, who has more pressure on him in the
- 5:18Speaker 1: game this week than Kansas City. There are two touchdown
- 5:22Speaker 1: favorite at home against the team that most teams, most
- 5:24Speaker 1: people don't even believe belongs in the playoffs. Yeah, Like,
- 5:26Speaker 1: if you're just gonna talk about pure pressure, Kansas City,
- 5:31Speaker 1: which doesn't have a good home history in the playoffs period,
- 5:35Speaker 1: is playing a team that is kind of similar to
- 5:37Speaker 1: the Patriots in their pedigree in Pittsburgh. I agree that
- 5:41Speaker 1: Pittsburgh stinks, But what would be the more like embarrassing loss,
- 5:46Speaker 1: Buffalo losing to the Patriots at home or Kansas City
- 5:48Speaker 1: losing to Pittsburgh, Right, Yeah, Like you can't even calculate
- 5:52Speaker 1: how much pressure there was on the Chiefs. I don't
- 5:54Speaker 1: think it's gonna matter because I think Pittsburgh is punchless.
- 5:58Speaker 1: I don't think they could do anything other than Kansas
- 6:00Speaker 1: City just handing the game to them, and that, you know,
- 6:03Speaker 1: I think there's a lot more pressure on Kansas City
- 6:06Speaker 1: than any other team in the playoffs this weekend. Yeah,
- 6:08Speaker 1: but we're talking about the Patriots. No, I know. I'm
- 6:10Speaker 1: just saying the home team always has the pressure. I
- 6:13Speaker 1: agree with that storyline. I think Buffalo has pressure. Buffalo
- 6:18Speaker 1: is supposed to win, the Patriots aren't. Yeah, And I
- 6:20Speaker 1: think that that's like a kind of defining characteristic right
- 6:23Speaker 1: now with this Buffalo team of if they did get down,
- 6:25Speaker 1: do they have do they have that because I think
- 6:27Speaker 1: they have the pieces to score on anybody and to
- 6:29Speaker 1: move the ball. But I think it's that in between.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Are they going to get in their own heads and
- 6:33Speaker 1: stop executing? And you know, I think that's where Buffalo
- 6:37Speaker 1: is generally, is a team can they you know? And
- 6:39Speaker 1: I think the Patriots aren't quite there yet. I think
- 6:41Speaker 1: the Patriots fall behind. They're probably done well. You know,
- 6:44Speaker 1: the Bills have won their last three or four. The
- 6:46Speaker 1: Patriots have lost their last three or four. But the
- 6:50Speaker 1: Bills haven't looked great against you know, inferior or opponents lately.
- 6:55Speaker 1: You know, so who are they? That's a little I
- 6:58Speaker 1: mean they've won that, they've won their last four in
- 7:00Speaker 1: a row. That's a little bit. I know people have
- 7:05Speaker 1: made a big deal out of it. I would love
- 7:08Speaker 1: to not be playing well and winning my games by
- 7:10Speaker 1: three scores, which is what they've done. Yeah, like thirty
- 7:13Speaker 1: one to ten, twenty nine to fifteen, and twenty seven
- 7:17Speaker 1: to ten the last three weeks, plus thirty three to
- 7:20Speaker 1: twenty one against the Patriots. Right, So they've won all
- 7:24Speaker 1: these games by multiple scores and they're not playing well.
- 7:25Speaker 1: I agree, they're not playing well. Yeah, but that just
- 7:28Speaker 1: shows you how good they are. It's under like the
- 7:30Speaker 1: Atlanta game with the Patriots. We won twenty five nothing,
- 7:33Speaker 1: so they hit it, but they didn't look that good
- 7:35Speaker 1: doing exact A great comparison, Yeah, great compar I would
- 7:39Speaker 1: say the same to the Carolina game. In Carolina, they
- 7:42Speaker 1: won going away, but I don't think it looked that way, right.
- 7:44Speaker 1: But as long as you take care of your business. Yeah,
- 7:46Speaker 1: the playoffs now it's a it's a sequence of one
- 7:49Speaker 1: game seasons. All you gotta do is win this week.
- 7:51Speaker 1: Do you think do you think the Bills kind of
- 7:53Speaker 1: us the loss to Tampa Bay a little bit as
- 7:55Speaker 1: a springboard will that comeback attempt and making it. I
- 7:57Speaker 1: know they lost and fell a little. I think that's
- 7:59Speaker 1: when they got so belief. Yeah. I think they were teetering, uh,
- 8:02Speaker 1: you know, down twenty four to three or whatever it
- 8:04Speaker 1: was at the half, and they came out in the
- 8:06Speaker 1: second half and took it to the Super Bowl champs
- 8:08Speaker 1: in their home field where they have been absolutely dominant
- 8:12Speaker 1: all season. Got robbed of a Passengerferens call in the
- 8:14Speaker 1: end zone multiple multiples. But I think that they came
- 8:18Speaker 1: away from that game. They lost an overtime and they said, Okay,
- 8:22Speaker 1: we can do this. They took care of business, they
- 8:24Speaker 1: won their last four, they righted the ship. Now let's
- 8:27Speaker 1: see if they can pull it through. Because I do
- 8:29Speaker 1: think I agree with you guys. I think all the
- 8:31Speaker 1: pressure was on Buffalo on Saturday night. Yeah, especially if
- 8:34Speaker 1: it starts like a good start for the Patriots. And
- 8:37Speaker 1: I mean with how much you we've been building up this,
- 8:38Speaker 1: this this narrative of this team. You know, so you
- 8:41Speaker 1: go back to the whole debate whether or not to
- 8:44Speaker 1: take it. I think either way, if the Patriots stop
- 8:47Speaker 1: them and they have to punt, or the Patriots get points,
- 8:52Speaker 1: either way it puts pressure on them. Yeah, either lta
- 8:55Speaker 1: energy for the Patriots. But what helps you more? Going
- 8:58Speaker 1: up three nothing or seven nothing? Stopping them three and out,
- 9:02Speaker 1: I would say stopping them three. Yeah, I'd rather stop him.
- 9:04Speaker 1: I'd rather stop because you know I have the hammer right,
- 9:08Speaker 1: but the other thing the ball right. But the bottom
- 9:13Speaker 1: line is, it doesn't matter what they do. It matters
- 9:17Speaker 1: how they play. Like this is what I said yesterday,
- 9:20Speaker 1: Like no games or ever generally want a loss by
- 9:23Speaker 1: who what they choose at the coin top, right, If
- 9:25Speaker 1: if they win the toss and take the ball and
- 9:28Speaker 1: go down and score. That's good. If they don't, it's bad.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Like it's it's pretty simple. But we've also seen a
- 9:35Speaker 1: million examples in the NFL of the opening drive of
- 9:38Speaker 1: any game. The team has a plan, a script, whatever
- 9:42Speaker 1: you want to call it. They marched down the field,
- 9:44Speaker 1: they get a touchdown and it's gonna be one of
- 9:46Speaker 1: those games. And then like they're flat, right, and then
- 9:48Speaker 1: the other defense settles down and the Browns here, the
- 9:52Speaker 1: Browns here? Was that? What? Well? Yeah, but they kind
- 9:54Speaker 1: of gave up on their game plan. It was also
- 9:56Speaker 1: a little different in terms of the person, but I
- 9:58Speaker 1: mean games and when that's happened and you think, like wow,
- 10:02Speaker 1: they're just really moving the ball, and then they can't
- 10:03Speaker 1: do anything after that. So it's like Miami did it
- 10:06Speaker 1: on Sunday and then they did it again. They did
- 10:08Speaker 1: it again, Right, that's been closed the game and did
- 10:10Speaker 1: it again. Yeah, thank you, sir. May have another I
- 10:14Speaker 1: didn't mean it, savoratory defense, right, he's the negative one
- 10:19Speaker 1: on the show. Pall stop trying to make it back.
- 10:21Speaker 1: I think we got to talk about Mills though. I
- 10:23Speaker 1: think that's significant. Yeah, another d Yeah, the COVID list
- 10:29Speaker 1: and I'm so it's it's Wednesday. The question is did
- 10:33Speaker 1: he go on it yesterday? Like, does he have enough
- 10:35Speaker 1: time to get back if he Yeah, he was. It
- 10:39Speaker 1: was placed on last night's transactions, So so yesterday they
- 10:43Speaker 1: put him on. So did he test on Monday? Yeah,
- 10:45Speaker 1: so I don't think he has time, right, you need
- 10:47Speaker 1: five days, don't you. Well, but what if he tested
- 10:49Speaker 1: on Monday? Is it too I don't know. Yeah, I
- 10:51Speaker 1: don't even just thinking out loud either way, he's not practicing. Yeah, yeah,
- 10:55Speaker 1: it's not good. It's not idea because if he plays,
- 10:57Speaker 1: he's going to have have to play without having practiced
- 10:59Speaker 1: a week. And that's why you've had a bevy of
- 11:02Speaker 1: signings like Cravon LeBlanc coming back, this guy DJ Daniel.
- 11:06Speaker 1: You still got DeVante Bows, so you have I mean
- 11:08Speaker 1: you have four cornerbacks on the practice squad. Have we
- 11:12Speaker 1: officially announced any of those moves? DJ Daniel, I shouldn't
- 11:16Speaker 1: say any squad. LeBlanc, Yeah, I don't know that. There
- 11:20Speaker 1: was some confusion. Wilson tweeted that he was getting signed
- 11:23Speaker 1: to the Act of roster. Yeah, there was some descrepance
- 11:26Speaker 1: release that went out last night that the Patriots signed
- 11:28Speaker 1: two players. That was the practice squad. Yes, that's that
- 11:31Speaker 1: wasn't wasn't that j Smith who is a tight end, Yeah,
- 11:35Speaker 1: a tight end and a debut, but it wasn't Craven.
- 11:38Speaker 1: So I don't know. I mean they're going to be scrambling.
- 11:41Speaker 1: I mean they don't have I mean you're talking Jowan
- 11:43Speaker 1: Williams maybe on the outside. Yeah, I mean we know
- 11:45Speaker 1: what the how deep these guys are, so you gotta
- 11:47Speaker 1: take more chances. And I don't even know if Miles Bryant,
- 11:50Speaker 1: like he just came off. He just came off. But
- 11:53Speaker 1: his status, yeah, how healthy? Yes, yeah, that's what I'm saying.
- 11:57Speaker 1: You know, like Kendrick Bourne was saying the week that
- 11:59Speaker 1: he came back, but he still had to recover it,
- 12:01Speaker 1: you know, so he was a symptomatical. He was asymptomatic.
- 12:05Speaker 1: Remember everybody told you was a symptomatic except everybody said
- 12:07Speaker 1: that except for him, who evidently said I was having
- 12:09Speaker 1: a hard time. You can't you can't play this game
- 12:12Speaker 1: and hope that Alan makes mistakes because if you give
- 12:15Speaker 1: up time, guys are going to come open. Yeah, And
- 12:18Speaker 1: that's it's just that I think that that sums it up,
- 12:20Speaker 1: and especially now it's it's Matt Judland. You guys gotta
- 12:23Speaker 1: go get after him and not give him time because
- 12:25Speaker 1: there's a good chance you're gonna have practice squad guys
- 12:27Speaker 1: covering Cole Beasley, you know, Mackenzie. I mean, that's the
- 12:33Speaker 1: other thing. New England has had, uh significant names go
- 12:36Speaker 1: on the COVID list the last few weeks. And I've
- 12:39Speaker 1: been keeping track obviously of each opponent every week and
- 12:42Speaker 1: what they're doing. Buffalo hasn't had anything so far this
- 12:44Speaker 1: because their whole team has already been there, right, That's
- 12:46Speaker 1: what I'm saying, Like, so they're like getting back and
- 12:48Speaker 1: healthy at the right times. Well yeah, I mean on
- 12:53Speaker 1: a one and I don't know why you would rule
- 12:55Speaker 1: it out, but I mean that's that's where it's trending
- 13:01Speaker 1: in that direction. I mean, I mean it's funny because
- 13:03Speaker 1: I wrote about at the Sporting and then you get
- 13:05Speaker 1: a lot of responses if like I'd rather have Craig
- 13:07Speaker 1: on the blink than Joe Wan Williams, Like he's not
- 13:09Speaker 1: even in the building. You're officially announced yet. But it's
- 13:11Speaker 1: a lot of practice squads slot type cornerbacks. It's not
- 13:15Speaker 1: guys that are ready to match up against you know,
- 13:18Speaker 1: Emmanuel Sanders, Sanders, Diggs, Digs. I mean, I mean, at
- 13:22Speaker 1: least you can say maybe Hazily Digs, Beasley and Davis
- 13:25Speaker 1: Davis go to the three guys. I think Sanders is
- 13:28Speaker 1: probably less of a factor because of his health. You
- 13:31Speaker 1: know that knee. You know, he might look like he's
- 13:33Speaker 1: gonna play. Yeah, I think he'll be an extra option.
- 13:37Speaker 1: And then you know, like Mike said Isaiah McKenzie, I
- 13:39Speaker 1: was from a guy who don't forget about him at
- 13:41Speaker 1: eleven for one twenty five, who probably won't be targeted
- 13:43Speaker 1: in this game. I mean, if if this game goes
- 13:46Speaker 1: well for the Bills, he probably won't even be involved,
- 13:48Speaker 1: right Yeah, So they have guys to throw the ball
- 13:51Speaker 1: too in the Patriots right now or thin in the secondary.
- 13:54Speaker 1: And it's even assuming that you know, Kyle Duggers gonna
- 13:56Speaker 1: be able to play. So I mean, I'm gonna got
- 13:57Speaker 1: to practice here in a few minutes that they're gonna
- 13:59Speaker 1: be on the stadium rest one today. I brought my jacket,
- 14:01Speaker 1: although it's a little warmer today than yeah. Yeah, yeah,
- 14:03Speaker 1: I'm gonna be all right. But up, you don't mean
- 14:06Speaker 1: to talk about you know, Dawson Knox and dealing with him.
- 14:08Speaker 1: I mean, what if if Dugger can't go, it's just uh,
- 14:11Speaker 1: it's it's it'll be interesting to see who's out there.
- 14:13Speaker 1: You're gonna have to take chances. But but also too,
- 14:15Speaker 1: I should point out good sign yesterday with the faux
- 14:18Speaker 1: injury report, right, they had him as limited was limited. Yes,
- 14:22Speaker 1: we were just talking about that limited bags of chips
- 14:24Speaker 1: using dirt from NFL team stadium. Yeah, New England has
- 14:28Speaker 1: one of those. Yeah, so what they did that the
- 14:29Speaker 1: league took dirt, literally literally took dirt and from here
- 14:33Speaker 1: the practice field and they grew potatoes and then made
- 14:36Speaker 1: chips from the potatoes. So they'll have like branded bags
- 14:40Speaker 1: of chips from the different stadiums. Okay, yeah, yeah, I
- 14:47Speaker 1: just just knowing what goes into that dirty practice field,
- 14:50Speaker 1: it makes me want to like, uh, chemicals, I'm talking
- 14:54Speaker 1: about the chemicals either. I'm talking about want to dig
- 14:57Speaker 1: and get h what wasn't think you wasn't there a
- 15:03Speaker 1: collar last week? We wanted to have his ashes spread
- 15:05Speaker 1: out there. Yeah, these potatoes taste like oh anyway, all right,
- 15:13Speaker 1: so Deuce is going to go out to practice. But
- 15:15Speaker 1: but I just think you know game plan wise. Look,
- 15:19Speaker 1: you know, somehow you have to disrupt the timing of
- 15:24Speaker 1: the bills passing games. Somehow you have to do that.
- 15:26Speaker 1: You need Buffalo to help, You need Josh Allen to
- 15:30Speaker 1: not all right, you need some of those late in
- 15:33Speaker 1: the down. I think I'm just gonna throw it up. Hey,
- 15:35Speaker 1: Look and he plays the way he did, D'Angel little
- 15:37Speaker 1: ross down the field covering Ama Sanders. You know, like,
- 15:40Speaker 1: I'm just gonna thiave it to him. I mean, why
- 15:41Speaker 1: wouldn't you. So the thing about the weather is it
- 15:45Speaker 1: will be cold. You know, if it's not that windy
- 15:49Speaker 1: then and you're a quarterback, you know you got the
- 15:52Speaker 1: hand warmers in your hand. You take your your hands
- 15:55Speaker 1: out to take the snap, make the throw, and then
- 15:57Speaker 1: you put them right back in the hand. So talking
- 15:59Speaker 1: about it, feet did some of that right, and you
- 16:01Speaker 1: can put that. You can put stuff in your shoes too,
- 16:04Speaker 1: so you can deal with the cold. There's way, you know,
- 16:07Speaker 1: there's ways to deal with the cold if you're a quarterback.
- 16:11Speaker 1: So I don't think that's going to be such a
- 16:13Speaker 1: big deal. I think it's I'm laughing and making jokes
- 16:17Speaker 1: while you're talking, But it would be more wind, snow
- 16:20Speaker 1: or rain would be the elements that I'd be more
- 16:22Speaker 1: well in. Like that's like a driving rain right with wind? Right,
- 16:27Speaker 1: Like I think, you know, is he going to be
- 16:29Speaker 1: as good if it's snowing as he would be if
- 16:32Speaker 1: it was eighty degrees? Probably not? Who is not? Even
- 16:34Speaker 1: Brady was as good in that. Yeah, but I think
- 16:38Speaker 1: that if the wind's allows you to throw, yeah, I
- 16:43Speaker 1: got the conditions aren't really a huge factor. I got
- 16:45Speaker 1: a little concern about Mac in this, Like I just
- 16:47Speaker 1: that's the other thing no one talks about. I was
- 16:49Speaker 1: just you guys heard me talking to someone, you know,
- 16:52Speaker 1: another member of the organization earlier this morning. You know,
- 16:55Speaker 1: it's like, you know, he, you know, Josh Allen's his
- 16:57Speaker 1: splits in you know, I was like, how how are
- 16:59Speaker 1: Max right? Like we're just going to ignore the fact
- 17:02Speaker 1: that this little dry spell that he's been going through
- 17:05Speaker 1: is included a couple of games and you know, in
- 17:07Speaker 1: the Northeast, and they in the elements, in the elements,
- 17:10Speaker 1: and we don't know and we really don't know like
- 17:12Speaker 1: when it's really bad and it's not because in Buffalo
- 17:15Speaker 1: he didn't throw the ball exactly, so we don't know
- 17:17Speaker 1: and his single worst game of the season was the
- 17:19Speaker 1: Buffalo game here, Yeah, that was his worst game statistically anyway,
- 17:23Speaker 1: And we don't know how he is in the frigid
- 17:26Speaker 1: cold because we've never seen him. And you know, I
- 17:28Speaker 1: think it's I think it's a bigger issue with him
- 17:30Speaker 1: in general because it also includes a game inside in
- 17:33Speaker 1: Indianapolis and then in great conditions in Miami. Um, you know,
- 17:37Speaker 1: in terms of warmth, I should say, I know it
- 17:39Speaker 1: was raining at times during the game, but but if
- 17:41Speaker 1: it looked like that last week, what's it gonna look
- 17:44Speaker 1: like in zero degree? I mean, you know, I don't
- 17:45Speaker 1: want to pre judge him. I mean, I think it's
- 17:47Speaker 1: an opportunity. He's been there once. We talked about how
- 17:49Speaker 1: before the game he looked a little bit like this
- 17:51Speaker 1: is a little bit but let me let me just
- 17:53Speaker 1: like throw like something out like from And this is
- 17:56Speaker 1: not scientific, this is anecdotal, but to my mind's eye,
- 18:00Speaker 1: the best passes that I've seen Mac Jones throw all
- 18:03Speaker 1: season long involve sort of that deep down the numbers
- 18:08Speaker 1: kind of um like deep fades where he's throwing it up.
- 18:12Speaker 1: He has incredible accuracy, puts it over the shoulder, but
- 18:16Speaker 1: lofts it with touch, right timing, all timing, not the
- 18:20Speaker 1: kind of throws you want to make in any kind
- 18:23Speaker 1: of inclement weather, Like I'm just gonna loft it and
- 18:27Speaker 1: put it in a spot. Yeah, but I don't think
- 18:29Speaker 1: if it's just cold, I don't consider that inclement. No,
- 18:32Speaker 1: I'm talking about wind. Oh yeah, yeah, you can't do it.
- 18:34Speaker 1: I mean, if you have to, you have to cut
- 18:36Speaker 1: through the wind. But if you're gonna have some win,
- 18:38Speaker 1: I mean there's gonna be some element of wind. I
- 18:40Speaker 1: don't know. It's not gonna be like zero mile parol winds.
- 18:43Speaker 1: But I don't think it's not going to Buffalo. There's
- 18:45Speaker 1: wind there in September. Yeah, yeah, I don't know. But
- 18:49Speaker 1: if there is, it's not gonna be like that Monday
- 18:52Speaker 1: night game. If there is wind that affects the throw
- 18:54Speaker 1: of Paul's right, you got to put velocity on it
- 18:57Speaker 1: or the wind. The slower the ball goes, the more
- 18:59Speaker 1: the wind of f And as we saw in that
- 19:01Speaker 1: game when there was you know, almost like you know,
- 19:04Speaker 1: tropical storm force wins, Josh Allen was able to cut
- 19:07Speaker 1: through it. He's got them to do it, and clearly
- 19:10Speaker 1: they don't think Mac does because they didn't want him
- 19:12Speaker 1: throwing in that game. I'm just trying to look up
- 19:14Speaker 1: the conditions we were talking about. Wins ten to fifteen Buffalo. Yeah,
- 19:20Speaker 1: I mean that shouldn't prohibit teams from being able to
- 19:22Speaker 1: throw the ball. But that's a that's a cold win.
- 19:24Speaker 1: I mean, I just think, like, it's not thirty degrees,
- 19:27Speaker 1: but it's cold and you and then that fights, it bites.
- 19:30Speaker 1: You know, it's just gonna be a challenge for him.
- 19:32Speaker 1: He's a kid from Jacksonville. We know his his history
- 19:35Speaker 1: here and his history at Alabama. I just I think
- 19:37Speaker 1: that's one of the one of the things to watch
- 19:39Speaker 1: and is he, you know, just able to show some
- 19:41Speaker 1: mental toughness. He's been there before. This is a playoff game.
- 19:44Speaker 1: I just I'd like to see some confidence, some growth
- 19:46Speaker 1: out of him in some capacity. Actually that that was
- 19:48Speaker 1: actually the day forecast Saturday night roughly two degrees. Uh
- 19:53Speaker 1: wins five to ten miles an hour, Yeah, two degrees,
- 19:57Speaker 1: two degrees, five to ten. The wind down a little
- 20:02Speaker 1: bit at night. Yeah. Still, and you know, I know
- 20:08Speaker 1: we're getting into the weeds here, but when when it
- 20:10Speaker 1: does get cold, the ball gets a little slippery, you know,
- 20:13Speaker 1: you know it's a little harder to throw the ball.
- 20:16Speaker 1: But but we looked at Max's hand size. He doesn't
- 20:19Speaker 1: have he's only six one or whatever, but he does
- 20:21Speaker 1: have fairly big hands for a guy his size. So
- 20:24Speaker 1: the hand size is and a factor. Yeah, you know,
- 20:27Speaker 1: he's got an even bigger glove on our he's got
- 20:29Speaker 1: that robotic hands. So yesterday they adding in right shoulder
- 20:35Speaker 1: problems for him. Now did they not? On the injury?
- 20:39Speaker 1: I thought I would have seen that he's a back
- 20:41Speaker 1: channel kind of Oh it's this felgar and mask, don't fall,
- 20:44Speaker 1: don't don't don't be you know, they were doing a
- 20:47Speaker 1: whole thing on the glove and the the you know,
- 20:50Speaker 1: the knee injury, which I was always just like, I
- 20:52Speaker 1: think he just put a knee brace on because that's
- 20:54Speaker 1: good practice that you know. And I know, Paul, you
- 20:56Speaker 1: think he got injured this. I didn't the summer. Yeah,
- 20:59Speaker 1: but I know they just and I'm talking. I actually
- 21:02Speaker 1: think that's feeling better. Was that that the preseason game.
- 21:05Speaker 1: I think he's moved a little bit better the last
- 21:07Speaker 1: couple of weeks. That's one of the few things that
- 21:09Speaker 1: I think there's been signs of improvement on This is
- 21:12Speaker 1: why I think when we were asked that question, I
- 21:14Speaker 1: talked about pocket present right to think he moves a
- 21:16Speaker 1: little bit better than he did earlier in the season. Yeah, yeah,
- 21:20Speaker 1: and maybe that's you know, part of that was health related. Yeah.
- 21:23Speaker 1: So it's gonna for the Patriots to win this game.
- 21:27Speaker 1: It's good this. Things are gonna have to happen. Some
- 21:30Speaker 1: quirky things are gonna have to happen, you know a
- 21:33Speaker 1: little bit. I mean, I think I just yeah, because
- 21:35Speaker 1: I think straight up, I hate to say that they've
- 21:38Speaker 1: got to advantage. And by quirky, you mean like, you know,
- 21:42Speaker 1: weird plays, a ref call in your favor. You can
- 21:45Speaker 1: count on that, you know, something, something coming out of
- 21:47Speaker 1: the stands and hitting somebody ahead just at the right time,
- 21:50Speaker 1: you know, anything like that. Anything like that. We you know,
- 21:54Speaker 1: we're gonna need a little help. Somebody's driving around right
- 21:57Speaker 1: now and they're like, Fred, just put out the call.
- 22:00Speaker 1: I have to go to the game a little assistance now,
- 22:03Speaker 1: I am. You know. Right now, the Bills are favored
- 22:06Speaker 1: by four, which makes me feel good because you know,
- 22:09Speaker 1: the Bills have won their last four games. Patriots have
- 22:12Speaker 1: lost three out of four um and the Bills get
- 22:15Speaker 1: three from home, so really they're only favored by one.
- 22:17Speaker 1: So the Tots, the touts are thinking something, you know.
- 22:22Speaker 1: But it's also I think that master class of nonsense playoff.
- 22:25Speaker 1: Playoff lines tend to be tighter anyway, don't they. Yeah,
- 22:29Speaker 1: unless and I've spoken at length this season about how
- 22:33Speaker 1: the home team is no longer getting three points because
- 22:35Speaker 1: the road teams are playing so well. He refuses to
- 22:37Speaker 1: acknowledge it, so we'll just go with h. So, you know,
- 22:41Speaker 1: do you think four is a good line for this game? Yeah? Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 22:46Speaker 1: I think it. I think it could be. It was
- 22:48Speaker 1: a little surprised. I think it's I'm gonna look it up.
- 22:51Speaker 1: I think it's bigger than it wasn't the Monday night game.
- 22:54Speaker 1: And I'm a little surprised that it grew because I
- 22:57Speaker 1: don't think Buffalo has played great. Yeah, but neither of
- 23:00Speaker 1: the Patriots Patriots really bad, right, Patriots have played worse
- 23:06Speaker 1: than the than the Bills have at least scoreboard why yeah, yeah,
- 23:09Speaker 1: you know, so I'm I could see it being a
- 23:13Speaker 1: little bigger. But you know, you also have to look
- 23:16Speaker 1: at the money. More people in New England bet, and
- 23:19Speaker 1: there are more people in New England than Buffalo. So
- 23:22Speaker 1: they're look, you know, it's easier to get the New
- 23:24Speaker 1: England money than it is the Bill's money. Um, so
- 23:28Speaker 1: that's that's a factor too. You know how these lines
- 23:32Speaker 1: are formulated. Paul's looking up. I can't. It's so do
- 23:37Speaker 1: you everybody even remember what week that was? Uh Monday
- 23:41Speaker 1: night game or the home game, the Monday night game? Yeah?
- 23:46Speaker 1: That was uh week sixteen? Yeah, don't you have every
- 23:50Speaker 1: record the Monday night game? Sorry, Eric, every record of
- 23:54Speaker 1: every pick you made with the spread and all that
- 23:56Speaker 1: stuff somewhere? He probably does, I actually do so. Yeah,
- 24:01Speaker 1: Buffalo was favored by two and a half in that game, right,
- 24:04Speaker 1: so I'm surprised that the spread is bigger than it
- 24:06Speaker 1: was that night. I'm not what happened, no, but I
- 24:08Speaker 1: think Fred's point is is accurate, like that both teams
- 24:11Speaker 1: haven't been playing their best, but Buffalo has been playing better,
- 24:14Speaker 1: right and winning, and has been playing worse and losing,
- 24:17Speaker 1: So it kind of makes sense. Yeah, they're telling you
- 24:20Speaker 1: they think that game was a fluke. Yeah, the one
- 24:22Speaker 1: we played in Buffalo, of course it was. Yeah, I
- 24:25Speaker 1: mean it was conditions that mother nature intervened, Yes, Yeah,
- 24:29Speaker 1: I would have thought it would have been a similar
- 24:30Speaker 1: and the Bill still should have won. I had the
- 24:32Speaker 1: ball inside the red zone and couldn't score. But you know,
- 24:35Speaker 1: I do think that if the Patriots run game, uh
- 24:40Speaker 1: plays well, I think we can can keep us in
- 24:42Speaker 1: the game. You know, if you can extend drives, shorten
- 24:45Speaker 1: the game, reduced the number of opportunities the Bill's offense has,
- 24:49Speaker 1: then you have a chance and you're gonna have to
- 24:51Speaker 1: make two or three stops. This is I was gonna say,
- 24:53Speaker 1: this is gonna be just like the Monday night game.
- 24:55Speaker 1: It's not going to have much to do with the Patriots.
- 24:56Speaker 1: It's going to be about the Patriots defense. Yes, yes,
- 25:00Speaker 1: and I don't get to twenty four they win, and
- 25:02Speaker 1: I have my concerns, especially in the secondary. Yeah, with
- 25:05Speaker 1: what's going on. Yeah, so you're right, So you're right
- 25:09Speaker 1: about getting the somehow getting Josh Allen uncomfortable is gonna be.
- 25:14Speaker 1: I think I've got you gotta just take some chances
- 25:17Speaker 1: in you're gonna get burned. Maybe because I saw him
- 25:21Speaker 1: a couple of weeks ago here on this field, and
- 25:24Speaker 1: when he wasn't getting any pressure, he was running around, well,
- 25:27Speaker 1: he was dumping off when he didn't have anybody downfield.
- 25:29Speaker 1: He was doing what he wanted. If he does that
- 25:31Speaker 1: again on Sunday Saturday, and then when you thought you
- 25:35Speaker 1: had him, he'd flip it for a touchdown, Yeah, you know,
- 25:37Speaker 1: I know. So we haven't really talked about injuries. You know,
- 25:42Speaker 1: we talked about Mills. But there was a fake injury
- 25:47Speaker 1: participation report that came out yesterday as if the Patriots
- 25:50Speaker 1: would have practiced and they had everybody who was injured
- 25:53Speaker 1: as limited, and everyone's like excited, Oh, that's good news.
- 25:57Speaker 1: It's really no news. It's I agree with you. But
- 25:59Speaker 1: there was all some names added, which I think a
- 26:02Speaker 1: little bit worrisome. Jacobe Myers he was he added he
- 26:06Speaker 1: wasn't on last week? Was he? I don't think so.
- 26:08Speaker 1: And that wasn't the one I was thinking of. Um
- 26:12Speaker 1: in addition to win and Phillips with his knee, uh,
- 26:18Speaker 1: Myers high tower, Harris with his hamstring, Lawrence with his shoulder, Um,
- 26:23Speaker 1: was he on there? That might be there? When Andrews,
- 26:27Speaker 1: I don't, I know Andrews dealing with a shoulder injury.
- 26:30Speaker 1: So you know, it's a pretty long list of guys
- 26:33Speaker 1: that they estimated would have been limited. We'll find out
- 26:36Speaker 1: um today if any of those guys are out there.
- 26:39Speaker 1: My guess is they're gonna list everybody as limited again
- 26:42Speaker 1: today because they want to know, even if they don't
- 26:45Speaker 1: think they're gonna play, they want to try to put
- 26:46Speaker 1: that question. But I'm mostly interested in in Barmore because
- 26:51Speaker 1: if he can't practice, they have to limit him as
- 26:54Speaker 1: did not practice, you know, because they get the film,
- 26:56Speaker 1: they audit the film. They can't say, oh, he was limited,
- 26:59Speaker 1: but they can doesn't do anything. They could put him
- 27:01Speaker 1: out there. Yeah, but he has to do something. Yeah,
- 27:04Speaker 1: you put him out there and the media is out there,
- 27:06Speaker 1: and then you just send them back in. No, no, no,
- 27:08Speaker 1: you can't do that. Yes, you can know if he's
- 27:10Speaker 1: on the field in uniform and does something, you can
- 27:13Speaker 1: list him as limited. Yeah, I'm not sure, Paul, if
- 27:15Speaker 1: you can then send them back in and say that
- 27:17Speaker 1: you can keep him out there if there's a rule
- 27:19Speaker 1: that's as you can't send them back here. Yeah. Yeah,
- 27:21Speaker 1: because there are plenty of him, he doesn't have to
- 27:22Speaker 1: do anything. As my point, well, but there are plenty
- 27:25Speaker 1: of instances where we've seen a guy at practice during
- 27:28Speaker 1: the media session and he's been listened as did not
- 27:30Speaker 1: practice right right and absolute enough for about like, well,
- 27:33Speaker 1: he was out there, we saw him, and it was
- 27:35Speaker 1: about taking part in team drills as opposed to you
- 27:39Speaker 1: can do it if you want to. I don't know, Paul,
- 27:41Speaker 1: just keep him out there and don't have him do
- 27:43Speaker 1: anything and you can list him as limited. Yeah, but
- 27:47Speaker 1: I want, I don't know, I want. I wonder about
- 27:49Speaker 1: him in general because I think there's some oddities around
- 27:52Speaker 1: that whole situation. Yeah, that don't make a lot of
- 27:54Speaker 1: sense to me. You get cart it off and then
- 27:56Speaker 1: all of a sudden, the next day we think is good.
- 27:58Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know. I don't know what
- 28:00Speaker 1: to expect from Barmore. Yeah, and he's had the knee beforehand,
- 28:06Speaker 1: so if he played, how effective is he going to
- 28:09Speaker 1: be Because if you if you can't put a lot
- 28:11Speaker 1: of weight on your knee, you have no leverage. Right.
- 28:15Speaker 1: You know you're going up against the guy who's over
- 28:17Speaker 1: three hundred pounds. You know that's incredible tour on your legs.
- 28:22Speaker 1: So now the one thing, you know, if this is
- 28:24Speaker 1: a short term thing, I mean it, Listen, you want
- 28:28Speaker 1: Barmore out there. I think he's a good player, and
- 28:31Speaker 1: I do think he collapses the pocket, but he's not.
- 28:35Speaker 1: This is not a team that you're necessarily it wouldn't
- 28:38Speaker 1: be the most glaring example of a team that would.
- 28:41Speaker 1: He would hurt you. His absence would hurt you as
- 28:43Speaker 1: much because they want to do that, right you know.
- 28:47Speaker 1: Um again, I want all the good players to be
- 28:50Speaker 1: out there. You know, it's obvious Barmore is one of
- 28:53Speaker 1: their better players. They need him. Yeah, but even it is,
- 28:56Speaker 1: I mean, I would hate to have him miss like
- 28:58Speaker 1: the Tennessee game. A lot more than that would hate him.
- 29:00Speaker 1: That's the buffalo. But but but you know, even if
- 29:03Speaker 1: you can stop Alan from going up the middle because
- 29:06Speaker 1: Barmore is pushing, you know, and and so you you
- 29:10Speaker 1: limit going forward and Alan can only go left right,
- 29:13Speaker 1: I think that's important, you know, pushing that pocket, not
- 29:16Speaker 1: giving him the escape route up the middle. Okay, so
- 29:20Speaker 1: now you've limited one at least one thing. Yeah, So
- 29:23Speaker 1: I don't know, Yeah, I mean, is it is it
- 29:26Speaker 1: a you know, a foregone conclusion they lose if Barmore's out? No,
- 29:30Speaker 1: you know, I mean gotscha On and Guy and all
- 29:33Speaker 1: those guys. Yeah, they they're they're fine, but it would
- 29:37Speaker 1: be nice to have that pocket pusher, that guy that
- 29:40Speaker 1: you have to double team, you know, of course, So
- 29:45Speaker 1: I wait and see what Deuce is when he gets back. Yeah,
- 29:48Speaker 1: all right, five five the a sticket hut line at
- 29:52Speaker 1: Patriots dot Com. What do you think those guys will
- 29:54Speaker 1: be out there comes back? Probably, I don't know. I
- 29:58Speaker 1: don't know. I'm kind of with Fred. Don't know. They'll
- 30:01Speaker 1: probably be out there. What they're doing out there is
- 30:04Speaker 1: another thing. Yeah, it might be just for shows, just
- 30:07Speaker 1: so that Buffalo can be like, oh, well they were
- 30:08Speaker 1: out there, you know what I mean. So I don't
- 30:11Speaker 1: know what we can read into it other than I like,
- 30:14Speaker 1: if if Barmber's really hurt and he's not gonna play,
- 30:17Speaker 1: I don't think they're gonna if they know, If they
- 30:19Speaker 1: know right now that he's not gonna play, I don't
- 30:20Speaker 1: think he'll be all right. I don't think. I don't
- 30:22Speaker 1: think they're gonna play tricks with that. I think why not,
- 30:25Speaker 1: because I think it's not gonna do him any good
- 30:28Speaker 1: to be on his feet right, even to do that.
- 30:30Speaker 1: He's better off getting treatment or whatever he needs to do. Yeah,
- 30:33Speaker 1: if they know today that he's not playing, right, if
- 30:35Speaker 1: there's no, they think there's a chance that you could
- 30:37Speaker 1: improve with treatment during the week, then sure, you know,
- 30:40Speaker 1: why not keep it in Buffalo's mind. But you know
- 30:42Speaker 1: I always Friday Friday, they gotta tell you anyway, I
- 30:44Speaker 1: don't make a trip. So I just like I always
- 30:47Speaker 1: feel like like when it comes to these things, football
- 30:49Speaker 1: coaches tend to want to play mind games and and
- 30:53Speaker 1: you know, put guys out there or list them as
- 30:55Speaker 1: a certain thing. I haven't done that much this year.
- 30:57Speaker 1: It's been a lot of guys that have been dnps
- 30:58Speaker 1: in practice and they will to clear it out by
- 31:00Speaker 1: the end of the week. You know. It hasn't been
- 31:02Speaker 1: a lot of that I have to say. But it's
- 31:04Speaker 1: the playoffs now, you know it's a different ball game. Yeah,
- 31:06Speaker 1: all right, eight five five, Pats, five hundred. Let's get
- 31:09Speaker 1: to the phone, start with Patty and agu on. What's
- 31:11Speaker 1: up Patty, it's up, guys. It's been a little bit
- 31:14Speaker 1: better spirits than I was yesterday and Sunday night. Um,
- 31:18Speaker 1: but that being said, I am a little bit worried
- 31:20Speaker 1: about this game coming up. Um to me, I'm not
- 31:23Speaker 1: gonna go with la Paul said, and when the line
- 31:26Speaker 1: of scrimmage, but to me, Um, it just breaks down
- 31:29Speaker 1: to a few different things that, um, I realistically don't
- 31:32Speaker 1: see happening. And one of them is I think on defense,
- 31:36Speaker 1: you've got to get you rushed for and you've got
- 31:38Speaker 1: to get pressure with those four guys and not just
- 31:42Speaker 1: get there, but get Josh Allen down yea. And on offense,
- 31:45Speaker 1: I think you have to really dominate up front and
- 31:48Speaker 1: run over their defense. Um, you have to score. To me,
- 31:51Speaker 1: I mean you have to score it. I mean it's
- 31:55Speaker 1: you can score like like like we were saying this morning,
- 31:59Speaker 1: do you think that Sean mc dermott would sign up
- 32:00Speaker 1: for exactly what happened defensively in the Monday night game.
- 32:04Speaker 1: I think he would. Yeah, you're gonna run good. You're
- 32:07Speaker 1: gonna run for two hundred and thirty yards. You can
- 32:09Speaker 1: run it forty five times. Go ahead, you can run
- 32:11Speaker 1: for two hundred and thirty yards. I'll let you do that.
- 32:13Speaker 1: But you're only going to get fourteen points. I think
- 32:15Speaker 1: he'd sign up for that in a heartbeat, right. But
- 32:18Speaker 1: if I get into the red zone, I want to
- 32:20Speaker 1: know that's where they lost the game. You know we've
- 32:23Speaker 1: been saying it for six weeks. I know everybody else
- 32:25Speaker 1: thinks it was because they embarrassed Sean McDermott and that's
- 32:27Speaker 1: why they won the game. They won the game because
- 32:29Speaker 1: the Patriots defense came up with three red zone stocks.
- 32:32Speaker 1: Ye right, that's why they won. Yea, the defense won
- 32:35Speaker 1: the game, not the offense. Yep. And I don't know
- 32:38Speaker 1: about you guys, but I think if just judging by
- 32:41Speaker 1: the last few games of the season, I think if
- 32:42Speaker 1: Buffalo decides, if McDermott decides he wants to change it
- 32:46Speaker 1: up a little bit and run the ball, I mean's
- 32:48Speaker 1: just say that they're not going to be successful doing it. Yeah.
- 32:51Speaker 1: It is another another wrinkle to think about, Patty, because
- 32:55Speaker 1: of the way even the most pedestrian running a game succeeded. Yeah,
- 32:59Speaker 1: that's the worst thing about that Miami game that we
- 33:01Speaker 1: just had. That was a low ranked running offense, one
- 33:05Speaker 1: of the worst, and they ran for one hundred and
- 33:08Speaker 1: ninety yards yards. You know, that was the worst thing
- 33:11Speaker 1: to come out of that game. And it wasn't because
- 33:13Speaker 1: you know, there was like a yeah right, I mean,
- 33:17Speaker 1: they had one long run in the game, and even
- 33:19Speaker 1: then it was only twenty seven yards. Thanks Patty. Uh,
- 33:23Speaker 1: let's go to Ken, who's in the Navy and probably
- 33:26Speaker 1: well yeah, I don't know about that, but okay, yeah,
- 33:32Speaker 1: it's a cold Navy day. Yeah. Oh yeah. Up here
- 33:37Speaker 1: it's getting its more degrees. Feels like minus six with
- 33:40Speaker 1: fourteen mile pro wins according to the Pots, the meteorologist
- 33:46Speaker 1: for the Patriots. Yeah, oh yeah, that's always and that
- 33:50Speaker 1: would be colder than the Tennessee game, right, the one here.
- 33:55Speaker 1: You know, I don't know what the windshill was, but
- 33:56Speaker 1: it was four degrees. I believe four degrees. Yeah, I
- 33:59Speaker 1: think you're right. So I think zero fahrenheit would be colder, right, yeah,
- 34:04Speaker 1: zero than four math? What are what are the what
- 34:09Speaker 1: are the benches made out of? In the Buffalo they're
- 34:11Speaker 1: the old Sullivan Stadium. They have seats, Yeah, they have
- 34:14Speaker 1: the well you mean what the players sit on? The fans? Oh,
- 34:18Speaker 1: they've they've they've changed those two seats, although there might
- 34:21Speaker 1: be one section that's still bleachers. I'm not sure though
- 34:24Speaker 1: in the end zone there remember, I think they're in
- 34:27Speaker 1: the opposite end zone I'm not sure, but um, yeah,
- 34:31Speaker 1: there's seats now. They've they've changed up that stadium. Stadium,
- 34:35Speaker 1: but it's a cold such a dump, you know, there's
- 34:37Speaker 1: no there's no protection from the wind there whatsoever. Yeah, Paul,
- 34:43Speaker 1: what's worse the old Pager Stadium or Buffalo These are
- 34:46Speaker 1: the two worst in my mind, and I would throw like, um, Oakland,
- 34:50Speaker 1: the old Oakland Oakland alamed, Well it's funny. Uh. Sullivan
- 34:55Speaker 1: Stadium or Schaeffer Stadium back then was built at exactly
- 34:58Speaker 1: the same time as the Bills, right, they sort of were.
- 35:01Speaker 1: They were almost the same. Yeah, they were. I don't
- 35:03Speaker 1: know if it was the same company. It may have been,
- 35:05Speaker 1: but you're right, kind of like Gillette and Nissan and Yashville. Yep,
- 35:10Speaker 1: that's h ok that was the architect for both. Yeah,
- 35:13Speaker 1: so they were. They were like mirror stadiums back in
- 35:17Speaker 1: nineteen seventy. I love this stuff. Thanks guys. All right, well,
- 35:22Speaker 1: I gotta, I gotta. I do have one question the
- 35:24Speaker 1: Orwan comment. Actually, I go, um, I don't know why.
- 35:27Speaker 1: Maybe I've said this four and you guys have answered,
- 35:29Speaker 1: But why in the heck we got two great tight ends?
- 35:32Speaker 1: Why do we not see two tight end sets? I mean,
- 35:35Speaker 1: you can run, you can pass out. I wish Mike
- 35:37Speaker 1: was here and had the numbers, but um, I feel
- 35:40Speaker 1: like it's like they one percent two tight ends. Really,
- 35:46Speaker 1: when have you seen Henry and Johnny Smith of the
- 35:49Speaker 1: scene they do. But yeah, see, I'll wait for Mike.
- 35:53Speaker 1: We'll get on that can when Mike gets back. I
- 35:55Speaker 1: think Mike hast that sheet um with the personnel percentage,
- 35:59Speaker 1: of course you would I and I think he's got
- 36:01Speaker 1: someone's got to do the work, right Ken. You know
- 36:03Speaker 1: what I'm saying. That's right by someone he means not me,
- 36:09Speaker 1: all right, Ken, thanks for the call. Todd's in North Carolina.
- 36:12Speaker 1: Hate Todd. Wow to hear Paul Perill throw the curling team.
- 36:17Speaker 1: You know you got the hammer. That's pretty pretty interesting.
- 36:21Speaker 1: Never would have thought it spoken like a true Canadian.
- 36:23Speaker 1: I think he meant hammer and nail. But anyway, the
- 36:25Speaker 1: hammer is you have the last ups like in baseball,
- 36:29Speaker 1: you got we got the hammer, We got the bottom
- 36:31Speaker 1: of the ninth. So I never heard the hammer. To
- 36:33Speaker 1: me is the possession to start the second. I never
- 36:35Speaker 1: heard that before. Like the hammer, I've never heard that.
- 36:39Speaker 1: I could No, I can assure you would have had
- 36:40Speaker 1: nothing to do with curling. No. I thought it was
- 36:42Speaker 1: just like you know the ham, where the hammer you're
- 36:44Speaker 1: the nail? No, no, no, no, oh, hammer is I
- 36:46Speaker 1: have last ups, I have the last, I have the
- 36:48Speaker 1: ball last. I've never heard that before. So I need
- 36:52Speaker 1: you boys to defend our coaching staff a little bit.
- 36:54Speaker 1: Because I was listening to mister Hart's off day podcast,
- 36:57Speaker 1: which by the way, is the best when Paul is
- 36:59Speaker 1: on it. I agree, Oh totally. They just slammed the coach.
- 37:05Speaker 1: They said that the team has been unprepared, the team
- 37:09Speaker 1: has not been showing what they they've done, that they've
- 37:12Speaker 1: even questioned the personnel moves like he and the other
- 37:15Speaker 1: guy just sat there and I was like, Wow, Yeah,
- 37:17Speaker 1: it's it's an after Miami loss, and let's just spread
- 37:20Speaker 1: the entire the entire year and the team. Okay, I'll
- 37:24Speaker 1: let them speak for themselves, but but here's one point
- 37:27Speaker 1: that I'll make on this, Freddie, I understand how much
- 37:32Speaker 1: success that Bill Belichick has had, but for the purposes
- 37:35Speaker 1: of twenty twenty one, let's just talk about twenty twenty one.
- 37:40Speaker 1: If a team came out in three out of its
- 37:43Speaker 1: last four games and got dominated in the first quarter
- 37:47Speaker 1: three times the way the Patriots did, would you not
- 37:49Speaker 1: say that they were not prepared. Wouldn't that be the
- 37:52Speaker 1: way you would explain it, Like you'd say, like if
- 37:54Speaker 1: Nick Sirianni's team came out and looked like that at
- 37:57Speaker 1: the start of three out of four games, you'd say,
- 37:59Speaker 1: a rookie coach, he's not ready, he doesn't have the
- 38:01Speaker 1: team ready to go in these these big games down
- 38:03Speaker 1: the stretches. They're going to the playoffs. Yeah, that's how
- 38:06Speaker 1: you would say. That's how I'll talk about it. Yes,
- 38:08Speaker 1: but in context, you have to you know who's the
- 38:10Speaker 1: better team if if you know, I don't, I don't.
- 38:12Speaker 1: It's not like Jacksonville wasn't prepared for the Patriots. They
- 38:15Speaker 1: just weren't good about Miami. Yeah, well that's the thing
- 38:18Speaker 1: about the Colts. Yeah, like is being prepared, um, fumbling
- 38:25Speaker 1: the stat the snap or see, don't don't talk about
- 38:29Speaker 1: the whole game in time. I'm just talking about how
- 38:31Speaker 1: the game began. Yeah, one team was ready to play,
- 38:33Speaker 1: the other team wasn't. Three times. I know it's you
- 38:38Speaker 1: can simplify it that way, but I I just don't know.
- 38:42Speaker 1: I can't believe that they went into this game not prepared.
- 38:45Speaker 1: Now did they execute no, obviously to start the game.
- 38:49Speaker 1: But like so then I don't ever want to hear
- 38:51Speaker 1: anybody ever say that that the team wasn't prepared. But
- 38:54Speaker 1: but because if we're just gonna say it's about executing,
- 38:56Speaker 1: that's what you're you're saying what coaches say. No, but
- 38:59Speaker 1: I'm just talking about the Patriots. Yeah, I know, if
- 39:02Speaker 1: there's wold, don't ever tell me that they were unprepelled.
- 39:04Speaker 1: But if if there's one thing that we believe is
- 39:07Speaker 1: that Bill Bill Belichick knows how to prepare a team,
- 39:11Speaker 1: did he forget to do how to do that all
- 39:13Speaker 1: of a sudden, does that mean he doesn't right every time? No,
- 39:15Speaker 1: it's just saying, but maybe he didn't do it right.
- 39:18Speaker 1: So I can't believe that they weren't prepared. I can
- 39:22Speaker 1: believe that they just weren't. Okay, So you think they
- 39:24Speaker 1: need to do what to Josh Allen in this game?
- 39:27Speaker 1: I believe that they need to take chances. Okay, I
- 39:30Speaker 1: absolutely agree with you. Why do you think that because
- 39:33Speaker 1: what they did last time didn't work? Correct? Right, they
- 39:36Speaker 1: weren't prepared the last time because they had a terrible plan.
- 39:39Speaker 1: No, no no, no, no, no. If they didn't, they didn't,
- 39:40Speaker 1: you're mixing laection. That's the way they wanted to attack, Josh.
- 39:46Speaker 1: You're mixing up the decision, the game plant. That's this
- 39:49Speaker 1: decision with preparing. They were prepared. You can say the
- 39:54Speaker 1: game plan wasn't right, but they were prepared for the
- 39:56Speaker 1: game plan that was given to them. Okay, so now
- 39:58Speaker 1: you're using it's not Samantha. Not being prepared is not
- 40:02Speaker 1: having the right plan of attack. No, it isn't. Okay, No,
- 40:05Speaker 1: it isn't. Again, it is not. That's fine. I never
- 40:10Speaker 1: ever want to hear a team wasn't prepared. Never you
- 40:12Speaker 1: can have you can don't ever tell me that that
- 40:14Speaker 1: you ever prepared to like, we're prepared, but you can
- 40:17Speaker 1: have the wrong game plan coming in. It just didn't work,
- 40:20Speaker 1: but you didn't have them ready. But we were prepared,
- 40:22Speaker 1: We were ready to go with the game plan. It
- 40:24Speaker 1: was the wrong game. So no team was ever not
- 40:26Speaker 1: ready to go because no, no coach has ever said,
- 40:29Speaker 1: you know what, guys, I don't need one hundred times
- 40:32Speaker 1: get it done. We're not talking about any other team.
- 40:34Speaker 1: We're talking about the Patriots. Yeah, but the our history,
- 40:37Speaker 1: you don't realize that, like the hypocrisy of what you're saying,
- 40:40Speaker 1: I'm not the history of Bill Belichick is that one
- 40:43Speaker 1: of one of his gifts, his gifts you agree he's
- 40:47Speaker 1: he's I mean, he's the best coach ever. Wait a minute, wait,
- 40:50Speaker 1: I agree, all right, So one of his gifts is
- 40:52Speaker 1: preparing his team. I totally agree. I'm not and I
- 40:55Speaker 1: and I agree with you that he may not always
- 40:58Speaker 1: have the right game plan. I like, I'm not arguing
- 41:00Speaker 1: with anything you're saying, but I can't believe I'm using
- 41:02Speaker 1: the totality of the twenty years, twenty plus years. I mean,
- 41:06Speaker 1: there's no arguing. What are we going to say ninety
- 41:10Speaker 1: ninety five percent of the time he gets it. You
- 41:14Speaker 1: have to say that he hasn't gotten it the last month.
- 41:17Speaker 1: Riata last four games they have not either. But is
- 41:20Speaker 1: that because he's not preparing them or they're just maybe
- 41:23Speaker 1: he's not preparing them the right way? Well, I mean,
- 41:27Speaker 1: bitching about coming off a bye week and having one
- 41:29Speaker 1: less game to prepare, you're not prepared the right way.
- 41:32Speaker 1: He didn't do anything to nip that in the bud. Yeah,
- 41:35Speaker 1: I don't know that. Okay, this is my point. Then
- 41:39Speaker 1: I don't ever want to hear you say that about anybody. Yeah,
- 41:42Speaker 1: because all coaches are preparing their team. What I do know,
- 41:45Speaker 1: I don't know if they're doing it the right way. Yeah,
- 41:47Speaker 1: what I do know is, you know, stupid mistakes, losing
- 41:52Speaker 1: the turnover battle, which you know they I don't think
- 41:55Speaker 1: that the only reason why they've fallen behind in these
- 41:57Speaker 1: three games is because of a lack of execution. They
- 42:01Speaker 1: haven't been ready to go. Yeah, I don't know why.
- 42:04Speaker 1: I don't know why because I'm not in the locker room.
- 42:06Speaker 1: I don't know what's going on. You know, maybe he's
- 42:09Speaker 1: looking at what, you know, the people that he had
- 42:11Speaker 1: and trying to formulate something to work around the deficiencies
- 42:15Speaker 1: and it's just not working. Like when you like, this
- 42:18Speaker 1: is what I get annoyed at. This is kind of
- 42:20Speaker 1: a separate thing that what we're just talking about. Like
- 42:22Speaker 1: every play theoretically in football is designed to succeed right, right,
- 42:26Speaker 1: of course, but there's another team trying to stop it correct, right,
- 42:30Speaker 1: and only one of them gets it right. That's right,
- 42:33Speaker 1: But you can't just always blame it on the personnel,
- 42:36Speaker 1: like if it doesn't go right, like sometimes the other team.
- 42:38Speaker 1: And Bill talks about this in the preseason. A lot
- 42:41Speaker 1: preseason games can be confused, Yeah, you know, deceiving, deceiving,
- 42:44Speaker 1: because there are sometimes that the play is just set
- 42:46Speaker 1: up to fail. Yeah, yeah, okay, and they don't worry
- 42:49Speaker 1: about checking out of it and do it like right, right,
- 42:55Speaker 1: But in the regular season and real you know, in
- 42:58Speaker 1: real time, you're trying to succeed. So when it doesn't
- 43:02Speaker 1: succeed doesn't always mean that the players screwed it up.
- 43:06Speaker 1: Sometimes it wasn't a good play and the other team
- 43:10Speaker 1: made a better play, sure, because they are trying to
- 43:12Speaker 1: combat what you're surely, And I just think and I
- 43:15Speaker 1: saw Joe Banner wrote about this this week, um, the
- 43:18Speaker 1: former executive with Philadelphia in Cleveland among other teams. And
- 43:22Speaker 1: I don't know, he's an interesting follow on Twitter for
- 43:25Speaker 1: anybody that that is interested in this kind of stuff.
- 43:27Speaker 1: But I don't always agree with what he says. But
- 43:30Speaker 1: that was one point that he made, is like every
- 43:33Speaker 1: coach always throws it on the execution every single time,
- 43:37Speaker 1: one hundred times out of one hundred. Privately, anyway, they
- 43:40Speaker 1: will say, well, you know, because they don't want to
- 43:43Speaker 1: admit their game plan was wrong, right, And and to
- 43:46Speaker 1: me it's not as simple as well, they just don't
- 43:49Speaker 1: they just don't play like when they and that this
- 43:51Speaker 1: is the thing about the Patriots lose. It's me. I'm
- 43:56Speaker 1: not disagreeing with you about having the wrong game plan.
- 43:59Speaker 1: I'm not just agreeing, but I can I I'll be
- 44:03Speaker 1: willing to bet everything that whatever the game plan was,
- 44:07Speaker 1: they were prepared to go out there with it. If so,
- 44:12Speaker 1: I'm not disagreeing with that. If so, then how come
- 44:15Speaker 1: when they do lose? Bill more often than not, says
- 44:19Speaker 1: we got to do everything better, including coach coaching. Publicly? Yeah, absolutely,
- 44:23Speaker 1: he says that publicly. Do you think, and again, this
- 44:26Speaker 1: is an abstract with no definitive answer. I'm just asking
- 44:30Speaker 1: for your opinion. Do you ever think when Bill ends
- 44:33Speaker 1: the press conference by saying I just have to coach better,
- 44:36Speaker 1: that he really believes that. I don't. I don't. I think.
- 44:39Speaker 1: I don't think any coach believes. I don't say it.
- 44:41Speaker 1: I don't think any of them believes. I think when
- 44:44Speaker 1: Lawrence Guy lines up over center, or they get three punts,
- 44:49Speaker 1: or when they get three puns blocked in a season,
- 44:51Speaker 1: I think he does believe his special teams Guy needs
- 44:54Speaker 1: to coach. That's a perfect example. We do you think
- 44:58Speaker 1: that Cam a Cord said to Lawrence Guy, listen, it's
- 45:01Speaker 1: fourth and inches, get right over the center on a punt,
- 45:03Speaker 1: of course, not so like again, sometimes the execution isn't there. Yeah,
- 45:08Speaker 1: but maybe Bill doesn't blame it's hammered enough. But we
- 45:12Speaker 1: can criticize Cam a Chord because he's this inexperienced kid
- 45:16Speaker 1: who came from like a community college in Mississippi, right,
- 45:19Speaker 1: and the special teams have been wretched, So we can
- 45:22Speaker 1: blame him for not having no And that's fair enough, Paul,
- 45:25Speaker 1: because you know, should he get to blame for that?
- 45:27Speaker 1: You know, should Lawrence guy, by the weathers. I do
- 45:30Speaker 1: think that should be accountable for it. But he's probably thinking,
- 45:33Speaker 1: holy crap, you know, I really had to go over
- 45:36Speaker 1: at again. We've gone over this in practice in a
- 45:39Speaker 1: veteran still. And I wonder, and I'll bet you that's
- 45:41Speaker 1: why because it was fourth in like a blade of grass,
- 45:43Speaker 1: and I wonder if Lawrence Guy just had a brain
- 45:45Speaker 1: fart and said they might try to sneak this somehow. Yeah,
- 45:48Speaker 1: and that's why he was up trying to get out
- 45:50Speaker 1: of it until last second, but it was too late.
- 45:52Speaker 1: They threw the flag, you know, and then like I said,
- 45:54Speaker 1: the block punts three in a season, you know, is
- 45:58Speaker 1: that coaching is at you know? What is that what's
- 46:01Speaker 1: going on there? Did did you know? Do we have
- 46:04Speaker 1: a hole in our and I think in our line
- 46:06Speaker 1: that other teams are seeing that we're not fixing. And
- 46:08Speaker 1: I do think that that's that that's more of a
- 46:10Speaker 1: personnel issue too. Yeah, but you know, to take the
- 46:13Speaker 1: coaches off the hook there, because that's something that certainly
- 46:16Speaker 1: Bubba Ventrone saw and talked about it before the game.
- 46:18Speaker 1: He said he saw it. Yeah, he saw some leakage.
- 46:22Speaker 1: It's I mean, it's it's a it's it's a it's
- 46:25Speaker 1: a complicated answer to I mean, it's a simple answer
- 46:27Speaker 1: to a complicated Yeah, you know. Yeah. And I think
- 46:31Speaker 1: when you say unprepared, it's it's a little bit of
- 46:34Speaker 1: a misnomer because I think what why I said it's Samantha, Yeah,
- 46:37Speaker 1: what what you're really saying is not well enough prepared. Yeah.
- 46:40Speaker 1: I mean, let's let's look at that last game against
- 46:42Speaker 1: the Bills, for example. We think that was the wrong
- 46:46Speaker 1: game plan for Josh Allen, Right, but Bill might be thinking,
- 46:50Speaker 1: and I don't know, that was the best we can do.
- 46:53Speaker 1: It might be and very well, and we were waiting
- 46:56Speaker 1: for the mistake and it didn't happen, and it didn't
- 46:58Speaker 1: happen or we didn't. We dropped it when much like
- 47:01Speaker 1: but much like Malcolm Butler in the Super Bowl, at
- 47:04Speaker 1: some point you have to say, I think this is
- 47:06Speaker 1: the best way to do it, but it ain't working, right,
- 47:09Speaker 1: I Gotta do it some other way, right. I know
- 47:12Speaker 1: That's what good coaches do, and that's what he has
- 47:14Speaker 1: made a career out of doing. They adjusting on the fly.
- 47:17Speaker 1: This isn't I mean, this is one example out of
- 47:20Speaker 1: you know, twenty years worth. But they were unprepared for
- 47:23Speaker 1: the Wildcat in two thousand and eight, right, I would
- 47:27Speaker 1: I would have never been, never been unprepared for the
- 47:29Speaker 1: Wildcats since you Right, I would agree with never since
- 47:32Speaker 1: So that I mean that. And again that's one example
- 47:35Speaker 1: in two decades worth of of of evidence of his coaching.
- 47:39Speaker 1: But it's it's I think when you say unprepared, you're not.
- 47:45Speaker 1: Obviously they're they're working all week, they are preparing. I
- 47:48Speaker 1: think what most people mean by unprepared to come out
- 47:50Speaker 1: in a game is that they're not well enough prepared.
- 47:54Speaker 1: They may have prepared, but they may not have done enough.
- 47:56Speaker 1: I don't even think it's like necessarily like football related
- 48:00Speaker 1: always it can be, but but I just mean the
- 48:03Speaker 1: team's not ready to go right mentally, like they might
- 48:06Speaker 1: not be into into like focus and the like. I
- 48:10Speaker 1: think the intensity is there, but they're not playing. And
- 48:13Speaker 1: those are the kind of things we just don't know,
- 48:15Speaker 1: and it could be it could answer, Yeah, there could
- 48:18Speaker 1: be stuff going on. Like I was thinking, you know,
- 48:21Speaker 1: I hate to like, you know, be callous and you know,
- 48:28Speaker 1: unsympathetic or whatever. But you know, I was thinking about
- 48:31Speaker 1: like when I thought that Adrian Phillis was talking about
- 48:34Speaker 1: Barmore um and Barmore coming on now, you know, I
- 48:39Speaker 1: was thinking, like how soft are we? You know, like
- 48:42Speaker 1: are we like going into puddles when guys get hurt?
- 48:46Speaker 1: I mean, we gotta you gotta keep playing. Yeah, Okay,
- 48:48Speaker 1: he's hurt and you feel bad, but you can't let
- 48:51Speaker 1: that after the game, no, I know, I know, but
- 48:53Speaker 1: like I don't know if that's affecting guys during game.
- 48:56Speaker 1: And you know, they talked about like coming to buy
- 49:00Speaker 1: and not having the extra day vacation and like our
- 49:03Speaker 1: little thing. That's the funny thing, and we kind of
- 49:05Speaker 1: touched on this yesterday. I think that we all look
- 49:08Speaker 1: at them and say, wow, you know, they've been down
- 49:11Speaker 1: seventeen in the fourth quarter a couple of times, but
- 49:13Speaker 1: yet find a way to you know, clawback within a
- 49:15Speaker 1: field goal. So they they're tough, they're mentally tough, like
- 49:20Speaker 1: they don't quit. But at the same time, there's little
- 49:22Speaker 1: things like that, Yeah, where they've you know, and I
- 49:25Speaker 1: don't I mean, we've just sort of attached this narrative
- 49:28Speaker 1: to the team, and I guess we don't really know
- 49:30Speaker 1: for sure, but it seems like that's what Mac was
- 49:32Speaker 1: talking about that night, right, a little we're feeling sorry
- 49:35Speaker 1: for ourselves. Are little things getting to them, you know,
- 49:38Speaker 1: like I don't know, right, which is a sign of weakness. Right,
- 49:42Speaker 1: So weakness and like unprepared could also be and I'm
- 49:45Speaker 1: not saying this is the case in the last month,
- 49:47Speaker 1: but like an example could be like you know, your
- 49:50Speaker 1: train all week, you know you're going to a warm
- 49:52Speaker 1: or the city call it Miami, and you're unprepared for
- 49:55Speaker 1: how hot and humid it is. You know, you try
- 49:58Speaker 1: to mimic the conditions in the in the the bubble
- 50:00Speaker 1: and it didn't work. Or you played outside all week
- 50:02Speaker 1: and it was forty degrees and then you go to
- 50:04Speaker 1: Miami and it's eighty nine and humid, Like, that's being unprepared.
- 50:08Speaker 1: That's nothing to do with football planning or everything, but
- 50:11Speaker 1: that's something that leads to being unprepared for what happens
- 50:14Speaker 1: at the outset, right, and you get into a hole
- 50:16Speaker 1: like but the the Jacksonville I think it was Jacksonville
- 50:23Speaker 1: or Tennessee. What was the game where it was like
- 50:24Speaker 1: ridiculously humid, Jason, that was jackson unprepared for that? You
- 50:29Speaker 1: how can you prepare for that? You can't prepare to
- 50:31Speaker 1: mimic those conditions. They come out and you're flat that
- 50:34Speaker 1: kind of heat, Right, That's that's an example of being unprepared,
- 50:37Speaker 1: but has nothing to do with coaching. Yeah, I just
- 50:39Speaker 1: think that's this, Like I keep saying, it's complicated. There's
- 50:42Speaker 1: a lot of stuff that goes into it. But I
- 50:44Speaker 1: just think that if you took a step back and
- 50:46Speaker 1: didn't give Belichick credit for everything he's accomplished and just
- 50:49Speaker 1: you know, like he does. He doesn't give players credit
- 50:53Speaker 1: for what they've done in the past. It's only about
- 50:55Speaker 1: what you do when you're here. So what he's doing
- 50:57Speaker 1: right now, I don't think the team has showed own
- 51:00Speaker 1: to be prepared. Yeah, so the last month it's it's
- 51:03Speaker 1: just tough because I don't know, Like, if they come
- 51:06Speaker 1: out this game and they do what we think they
- 51:08Speaker 1: should do, take chances, blitz a little, it could be worse.
- 51:12Speaker 1: And then like, what's why I'm not necessarily saying strictly football? Yeah, right,
- 51:16Speaker 1: because I I think his game planning ability is beyond reproach,
- 51:20Speaker 1: And certainly I don't care if he's the worst game
- 51:22Speaker 1: planner who's ever performed in the NFL, his credentials as
- 51:26Speaker 1: the worst ever would be far greater than anybody on
- 51:29Speaker 1: this show. Yeah, to talk about the games, right, Yeah, right,
- 51:34Speaker 1: game Campbell knows a hell of a lot more about
- 51:36Speaker 1: x's and knows and football than I'll ever pretend to, right,
- 51:38Speaker 1: And he's might be he might be lower on the
- 51:41Speaker 1: on the ring and the ladder. It's it's a great conversation,
- 51:45Speaker 1: you know, um, because it's the it's the it's the
- 51:48Speaker 1: best kind of our discussions because there's no right or
- 51:52Speaker 1: wrong answer and we just end up talking. But at
- 51:54Speaker 1: the end of the day, like I'm afraid to say it,
- 51:56Speaker 1: but like we just might be a ten and seven
- 51:59Speaker 1: borderline play off team. That's who might we might? I mean,
- 52:02Speaker 1: I don't think there's any shame of that right now.
- 52:03Speaker 1: And I do think that. I mean, win or lose Saturday.
- 52:06Speaker 1: I think that's what they are. Yeah, they're a team that,
- 52:09Speaker 1: you know, had a game gone the other way, they
- 52:12Speaker 1: might not have made the playoffs had a game gone
- 52:15Speaker 1: another way in their favor, and they might be the
- 52:18Speaker 1: division champs and who knows even getting to buy Yeah,
- 52:21Speaker 1: Like that's how you're like, here's a way to look
- 52:25Speaker 1: at it. So you're ten and seven, right, there's a
- 52:27Speaker 1: bunch of nine and eight teams that are that are
- 52:31Speaker 1: right with you, and they're on the outside looking in.
- 52:33Speaker 1: You lost to a bunch of them, right, You lost
- 52:35Speaker 1: in New Woolens, You lost in Miami twice. You beat
- 52:37Speaker 1: the Chargers, Yeah, you lost to the Colts. Like, those
- 52:40Speaker 1: are some of the teams that are like you. That's
- 52:45Speaker 1: the that's the marginal difference. I said this yesterday, you know,
- 52:47Speaker 1: with the whole Brian Flores thing. You know, everybody you
- 52:50Speaker 1: know wants to treat this like Vince Lombardi just got fired.
- 52:54Speaker 1: After winning the first two Super Bowls. Brian Flores lost
- 52:58Speaker 1: to Jacksonville and Atlanta. That's why he's right. They lost
- 53:01Speaker 1: some games that they shouldn't have lost, and Miami should
- 53:04Speaker 1: not have lost to Jacksonville. I'm sorry. Yeah. And oh,
- 53:08Speaker 1: by the way, the jury is in and judges out, Yeah,
- 53:12Speaker 1: judges out. And Bill O'Brien is supposedly interviewing for jackson
- 53:18Speaker 1: that's yeah, yeah, that's today or tomorrow. Yeah, supposed to
- 53:22Speaker 1: do that. Yeah, man, yeah, I thought his head was
- 53:26Speaker 1: gonna come right off. But they did fire Joe Judge.
- 53:29Speaker 1: You know what. The first thing I thought of, though,
- 53:31Speaker 1: because that was hell being no, no, no, no, not that,
- 53:35Speaker 1: not that. Look, with all due respect to Christmas, I'm
- 53:37Speaker 1: driving home and I hear that up. You know, they did.
- 53:41Speaker 1: So there's an opening in the Giants. And I'm thinking, Bill,
- 53:44Speaker 1: if the Giants really wanted to get their fans back,
- 53:49Speaker 1: they would call up Robert Craft and say, we'll give
- 53:51Speaker 1: you four first round picks for Billy Daniel Jones. Yeah,
- 53:57Speaker 1: you know, and and would Bill want to do it? Maybe,
- 54:02Speaker 1: so we'll go back to the Giants where he started.
- 54:04Speaker 1: Contract status is no. One knows the answer to this.
- 54:08Speaker 1: I agree that's why he has so I'm just I'm
- 54:10Speaker 1: just guessing. But my, my, my, my guess is that Bill,
- 54:15Speaker 1: you stay here as long as you want. But do
- 54:17Speaker 1: you think that he's under contract. I think it's I
- 54:22Speaker 1: think Bill wants that freedom. Yeah, it's probably a contract
- 54:26Speaker 1: that is loosely worded for him to be like year
- 54:30Speaker 1: to year. See if I was, if I could word it,
- 54:32Speaker 1: I would word it this way. Bill. You can stay
- 54:35Speaker 1: as long as you want, but if you ever leave,
- 54:37Speaker 1: you can't coach another team in the NFL. So I'm
- 54:39Speaker 1: gonna give you that that knowledge that you have a
- 54:43Speaker 1: job for infinity, but if you leave, you can't coach
- 54:47Speaker 1: another team in the NFL. I just can't imagine Belichick
- 54:50Speaker 1: painting himself into that kind of a corner. Right depends
- 54:52Speaker 1: on how much he might have, like three years left
- 54:54Speaker 1: in his deal. I don't know. It paints him in
- 54:57Speaker 1: the corner if he wants to coach another team, But
- 54:59Speaker 1: it also gives him the job security, the job security
- 55:03Speaker 1: of knowing and the check I can stay as long
- 55:05Speaker 1: as I want, right on the money. But doesn't he
- 55:07Speaker 1: have that Well no, not necessarily, of course he does.
- 55:12Speaker 1: I mean everybody says that Robert Craft it isn't gonna
- 55:14Speaker 1: put up with losing three years in a row. Well, no,
- 55:17Speaker 1: he would fire him. See, But in this contract, he
- 55:21Speaker 1: couldn't why I just said, the contract is worded. Okay,
- 55:25Speaker 1: now I'm going to switch my argument to say, would
- 55:27Speaker 1: Robert Kraft really paint myself exactly so both of them
- 55:31Speaker 1: I have to pay this guy no matter what. No,
- 55:33Speaker 1: but see exactly so both of them are painting. It's
- 55:37Speaker 1: very likely that paint that contract paints both sides into
- 55:40Speaker 1: a corner. I could see something. I could see something
- 55:43Speaker 1: like an automatical renewal situation. I don't know. You won't
- 55:47Speaker 1: know this, but Tim Wakefield had something like this with
- 55:50Speaker 1: the Red Sox where the two sides would meet after
- 55:53Speaker 1: the end of every season. They just automatically renewed the
- 55:55Speaker 1: contract until with him knuckled under right until he decided
- 55:58Speaker 1: finally to retire. Yea, um, but I could see them
- 56:02Speaker 1: having some kind of a deal. I don't know exactly
- 56:04Speaker 1: how it would be worded. I'm not an expert in
- 56:06Speaker 1: sports law, but somewhere where Bill has the security to
- 56:11Speaker 1: know that he is still under contract. But Robert isn't,
- 56:15Speaker 1: you know, bound to pay him if, in fact, three
- 56:20Speaker 1: years of losing records, he wants to make a change,
- 56:22Speaker 1: he can't. Yeah. See, but if I'm Robert Kraft The
- 56:25Speaker 1: thing I want to protect myself is like, if he
- 56:28Speaker 1: wants to retire, fine, you retire. I'll deal with that.
- 56:31Speaker 1: What I want, what I can't have happened is he
- 56:33Speaker 1: quits and he goes to another team. I can't have
- 56:36Speaker 1: that happen. So I have to have some protection against that.
- 56:39Speaker 1: And that's why I think he's under contract. And then Bill,
- 56:42Speaker 1: Like on Bill's side, the protection he's looking for is
- 56:45Speaker 1: the security, you know, like, I can't be fired without
- 56:49Speaker 1: being paid. Like, I'll bet you there's some kind of
- 56:51Speaker 1: clause that they have to renegotiate when he gets to
- 56:57Speaker 1: a certain you know whatever. So he's never been a
- 56:59Speaker 1: lame duck. Yeah, like he every time he gets to
- 57:03Speaker 1: the point where he'll only have one year left on
- 57:05Speaker 1: his deal, it automatically renews unless one side says no. Yeah,
- 57:09Speaker 1: it's it's one of the great mysteries of all talking
- 57:12Speaker 1: about Bill's contract. You know when he might be done,
- 57:15Speaker 1: but what are the terms of bills? It's one of
- 57:16Speaker 1: the great mysteries of all sports. I don't I honestly
- 57:19Speaker 1: don't think anyone really knows except for Bill, Robert Craft
- 57:23Speaker 1: and the agent. I really don't. Yeah, I would agree
- 57:26Speaker 1: with you. It's a very small circle of people that
- 57:27Speaker 1: would know. Um, and I don't probably Jonathan. Yeah, I
- 57:30Speaker 1: don't think anybody in the media would know that. For
- 57:33Speaker 1: certain agreement, it would it would be it would be
- 57:37Speaker 1: not of any interest to Bill to have anyone know
- 57:41Speaker 1: Rob Rob. Yeah, it doesn't help Bill for anyone to
- 57:45Speaker 1: know about this other than Jonathan and Robert. But you're right,
- 57:49Speaker 1: because I did. I'm not gonna lie said. It's a
- 57:51Speaker 1: douce this morning. The Giants thing. Yeah, uh, deuces back
- 57:55Speaker 1: from practice. Oh wait wait, wait, no, forget it, wait
- 57:58Speaker 1: for it, wait for it. He's got it. I'm sorry coming,
- 58:01Speaker 1: he's coming. I didn't know Matt was. Wasn't in his
- 58:03Speaker 1: chair all right, I guess indeed back from practice. Yeah,
- 58:20Speaker 1: some news. Uh, start with the good news. Christian Barmore
- 58:23Speaker 1: was out there and he looked okay walking around. Little
- 58:27Speaker 1: didn't see a knee brace. Um. They were doing some
- 58:29Speaker 1: warm up drills. I hope see him hoping. Yeah, did
- 58:33Speaker 1: see him hopping. Yeah, fully fully padded the team. Um,
- 58:37Speaker 1: but he did hop in on um on one drill.
- 58:39Speaker 1: So you know, me and Mike Reefs were kind of
- 58:40Speaker 1: keeping a close eye on him. Reese thought he was,
- 58:42Speaker 1: you know, first moving a little, sob I was like,
- 58:43Speaker 1: I don't know if he's gonna do anything, But then
- 58:45Speaker 1: he did hop into the drill um that they were
- 58:47Speaker 1: doing for warm up. So I guess my guess is
- 58:50Speaker 1: he will be listed as limited. Yeah yeah, but then
- 58:53Speaker 1: the bad news still no Dugger, no Isaiah win Oh
- 58:57Speaker 1: and a new one Jamie Collins as well, that one
- 59:02Speaker 1: so h yeah, and obviously Jaylen Mills, Sean Wade, the
- 59:05Speaker 1: two guys who were currently high Tower on he was
- 59:07Speaker 1: there High Towers there. Uh, the two guys on the
- 59:09Speaker 1: COVID list, Mills and and him and then Yady could
- 59:12Speaker 1: just returned off COVID. I'll bet you dugger had something.
- 59:15Speaker 1: Who the Mills is not out there? Mills and Mills
- 59:18Speaker 1: and Shaan Wader, Yeah there there there, Yeah, those are
- 59:21Speaker 1: the only two left on the list now, Um that
- 59:23Speaker 1: could just came off. Myles Bryant was out there practicing
- 59:26Speaker 1: as well, so UM mentioned him earl about what his
- 59:29Speaker 1: condition might be. Oh he's out there, that's good. Yeah.
- 59:32Speaker 1: Mills definitely, I had forgotten about Sean Wade. Yeah, yeah, earlier.
- 59:36Speaker 1: What what did he go on like Friday? Maybe it
- 59:37Speaker 1: was it seemed like, yeah, it was over. It was
- 59:39Speaker 1: back before the game. Yeah, sturdy um. So he was
- 59:42Speaker 1: declared out with an illness and then he was put
- 59:44Speaker 1: on the COVID host I think like the next day.
- 59:46Speaker 1: So some significant news definitely with Dugger. I mean that's yeah,
- 59:49Speaker 1: we're a week two now that that's well, I'm thinking
- 59:52Speaker 1: of you a thing broken hand, yeah, I mean it's
- 59:54Speaker 1: list that you know, did not participate with a hand injury.
- 59:57Speaker 1: Duce just had it broken, right, And I'm like, oh,
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: I didn't know what you think of it like that, Like,
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: if it's broken, I don't think he can play. And
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: if correct me from wrong. The last we saw of
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: him was that interception that he almost took to the house, right, Yeah,
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: I don't know what he did, and he didn't seem
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: like he did anything on that play other than that's
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: the last play he played. That's the last. That's the
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: last I noticed. That's the last I noticed that anything
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: could have happened after that, right, But like we normally
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: notice or get word of, you know, somebody going in
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: the tent for observation or not, like, and that was
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: third quarter, so there was still plenty of time left
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: in the game. For them to have made an announcement
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: about him. I don't remember seeing anything happened to me.
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: Maybe he slipped on some ice or something. Yeah, it's
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: something random because I don't know, like I like you,
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: you could have one of those related you can have
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: one of those clubs on right. Well, that's what I
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: mean front. I don't think you could play safety with Hardy.
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: You know if it was just a I don't know,
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: Griffin plays with one hand, right he does, a point
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: will be done. It can be done. Just cut it off.
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: We gotta play the bills. This again, like Ronnie Lott
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: with the finger out right, big game coach. This is
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: what I lose the hand. Yeah, Um, mood pretty good,
- 1:01:11Speaker 1: pretty lively, pretty lively. It's always fun being down on
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: the you know, on the state. We're inside the stadium,
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: so um. But yeah, a little loud, you know, some chirping,
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: and I mean it was it was. It wasn't as
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: cool as yesterday, but it was windy and it definitely
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: started to catch up with you a little bit when
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: when we were standing out there watching a few drills. Um,
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: but yeah, it's some some good uh, you know, I
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: always we're gonna laugh because it's the from the summer
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: when the football rolled to me, like you know, and
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: I have another I had another football moment where like
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: one of the football is like kind of just came
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: right to my feet, and it's just that like anate urge,
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: you have to be like, I really like to pick
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: that football up and just fire it to somebody right now, like, um,
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: but induced this thing. Hey, that guy's got a pretty
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: good arm. Out of here, kid, I'm not coming back
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: to the show. Guys any bread squad, it's your arm.
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: I do think that's like my anytime I see Mick Lombardi,
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: because you know, the receiver's coach, he's throwing warm up
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: passes and I'm like, can that could that be my job?
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: Just come out throw warm up passess the receivers. I
- 1:02:02Speaker 1: think that would be That would be fun. But in
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: our actions, uh no. Bit he was at midfield doing
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: doing his usual warm up and screen passes that kind
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: of thing. Nothing, nothing, a note. It was just tough
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: because you're in the end zone and they're warming up
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: across so you're trying to get numbers, but you're also
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: on ground level, so they're all crossing and you know,
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: so and it's me Reese, Andrew Callahan and Jim McBride

- 1:10:49Speaker 1: It's no misspeaking. Did you misremember the fact that you
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: mentioned the plane is absolutely one hundred percent wrong. Yes,
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: because I was thinking in my head jet jettison wrong.
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: So that's how I was remembering it, because he said, jet,
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: let me finish this. The correct distinction is that flotsam
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: is debris from a flessel, from a vessel that was
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: not deliberately thrown overboard, and jetsam is debris from a
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: vessel that was deliberately thrown over aware. You didn't say that, Yes,

- 1:11:29Speaker 1: That kind of slots him, Yeah, because it just floats,
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: when it just floats from a shipwreck. Off. But he
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: was right about the over the action. He was wrong
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: about the vehicle, right. No, I said, when there's a shipwreck, Yeah,
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: the stuff that's the debris from the shipwreck is floating,
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: that's flotsam. That's not correct, it is correct. That's another

- 1:12:23Speaker 1: still don't know. No, I think we got the answer,

- 1:12:46Speaker 1: let's see Sean Atlanta sEH says on Belichick and Crafts relationships.
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: La Shan McCoy was recently on The I Am Athlete
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: and he shared a Robert Craft story from a party
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: with the Sixers owners. Oh he may mentioned that he
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: asked Craft about Brady and Robert admitted he didn't want
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: TB twelve to leave. Craft also said, according to McCoy,
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: that Belichick must win a championship because of Brady's championship
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: run with Tampa. What are your thoughts on this? I
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: don't know, like or otherwise? Why? Right? He won't be
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: considered the greatest coach of all time? Right, all right,
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: we don't have to worry about him out four weeks
- 1:13:22Speaker 1: from now, be all set right, Robin, and with that victory,
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: he'll pass George Hallis and move into second place. It's

- 1:13:45Speaker 1: they've unprepared? Yeah, what the definition of being prepared is?
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: We had a long debate. Be prepared when you're ready
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: to take the lead? Um? I remember it? Cody in Indiana?
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: What do you think the outlook is for the Special
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: Teams unit going forward? I know Nick Folk has been
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: nearly automatic, so I would think we'll stick with him,
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: though I know he's getting long in the tooth. Jake
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: Bailey had, in my opinion, the worst year of his career,
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: not to mention the numerous uncharacteristic mistakes, penalties, block kicks.
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: Why do we pay to have all of these Special
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: team aces if we are getting the subpar product on
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: the field. I know not everyone likes him, but do
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: you think there's a chance Joe Judge comes back to
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: help clean up the Special Teams? Yes? If not could
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: he catch on as a coordinator somewhere else? I wouldn't. Yeah,
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: it past. Was there something I saw a speculation of
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: Joe Judge as an offensive coordinator at some point? Was
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: that I found out I read that like at some point. Yeah,
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: I'm not saying he's coming back. I'm just saying I
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: think that's a possibility, whereas I don't really I don't
- 1:14:50Speaker 1: really think Brian Flores is a possibility to come back.
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: I agree he's gonna be. He's gonna he's gonna be
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: a head coach somewhere or at the very least take
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: the year off and have your pick next year if
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: you don't like anything coming back here and being like
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: being Luis right. Yeah, no, Well remember that both he
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: and Floors are being paid, so if you can work
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: it out where they can work for you for very
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: little money. Yeah, but the Patriots did get into a
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: little bit of a hot water with that with um Brett. Yeah,
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: because Arkansas. Not in Arkansas, I'm sorry, Yeah, yeah it
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: was Arkansas. Arkansas said no, our deal was, if you
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: get a job, we don't have to pay you anymore, right,
- 1:15:30Speaker 1: you know, so, and it might have some kind of
- 1:15:33Speaker 1: deals like that right, like if I'm my aunt, I
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: don't know if he has offset language. I don't know right,
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: that goes right? Uh? Neil and work a question from Mike.
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: He wants to know where we can buy the Dangerous
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: Zone hoodie. That bill was where you were waiting for that?
- 1:15:46Speaker 1: I know I did, I did do Google didn't didn't
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: see it pop up. But I think he said in
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: the press conference that it was from something in the
- 1:15:53Speaker 1: past few years ago, years ago. And here's the transcript.
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: So I guess you could probably give you the exact one.
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: So I'll be I'll be on it. I'll track it down. Okay.
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: Dan from Maine, first time emailer, first year listening. I
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: tried out a few Patriots podcasts this year, and I
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: kept coming back to this one. They all tried to leave,
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: and we kept pulling you back in. Thank you though, Dan,
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: I appreciate the listen. After the last Buffalo game, the
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: defense played back, waiting, played back, waiting for Josh Allen
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: to make a mistake. There was criticism about the team
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: not adjusting over the course of the game. Would you
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: take a similar approach to the game this weekend? What
- 1:16:30Speaker 1: adjustments would you make? Well, we've been talking about that.
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: I mean, yeah, I mean we all think, I think,
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: right that you got to take a few more chances.
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: You got to get the pressure on a little earlier
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: on Allan. But you know, Bill might be thinking, we
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: just can't do that. Yeah, you know, we just have
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: to do it. We tried to do last time better.
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: Maybe I don't know, yeah, maybe, But like if you
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: do what you did last time and you get the
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: same result, then the criticism afterwards gonna be why you
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: did the same The definition of insanta, right, trying to
- 1:17:04Speaker 1: do the same thing over and over again. Yeah, Yeah,
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: that's what I was just trying to pull up a
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: quote I used yesterday for my write up from Mayo. Um,
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: I just I kind of noted that they were that
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: he said they were patient. They were very patient. They
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: did a bunch of different things that just kind of
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: stood out to me along those lines of that they
- 1:17:23Speaker 1: took what was there and let's and that's why I
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: think with the issues in the secondary, I think an
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: aggressive game plan of get up field. And you know,
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: I don't know if if Devon Gaucha's really settled into
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: the system fully. I think it's been a little bit
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: of a process with him, you know, and I think
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: maybe those guys might just be a little bit more comfortable.
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: I'm sure Judom will be. Let's just go get them.
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: I mean, maybe that's what they do to switch it up.
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: And all of a sudden, it's you know, Josh Allen's thinking,
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: all right, they're gonna drop everybody in coverage. Take what take?
- 1:17:49Speaker 1: What's there again? And you know, all of a sudden,
- 1:17:51Speaker 1: here they come. It's aggressive and he's got to think
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: quick and decide where to go to the ball. I
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: don't know. I think they got to change something up
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: to to get him off his game early, and then
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: they got to hang on at the end and they
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: got to make the last stop if if they're gonna win. Yeah,
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: I mean I wish if I really did my research,
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: i'd know the answer to this. But like of the
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: teams that you know had success against Josh Allen this year,
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: what did they do? Like what was their game plan?
- 1:18:13Speaker 1: Is it just they had better you know, secondary than
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: we do? Like what what did they do? I'm sure
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: they're looking at all that film. Yeah, I try to
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: figure that out, and I don't know if it's if
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: it's anything like I mean, nothing that I've seen or
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: read or heard of, like oh, they they this is
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: the book on him. I think it's just he's got
- 1:18:30Speaker 1: to be off and he's got to do what he
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: does in terms of the late down stupid forcing stuff
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: that's not there. And and I think it goes back
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: to that patience of take him what's there and you know,
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: having that ability to not try to force it down
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: the field, try to make the big plays. I mean,
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: we know he's got legs and he's gonna be able
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: to run um. But I just I mean, I think
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: there's an element of you're just kind of hoping a
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: little bit that he's off and hoping he throws a
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: couple to you. I mean, that's that's the that's the
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: wild card with him, is his letic ability is if
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: you know, like back in the day when Peyton Manning
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: was was great, you didn't really have to worry about
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: him running. You know, yes, you know, but with this guy,
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: you can have the best coverage in the world and
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: he just takes off, yeah, or you have the pressure
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: and he escapes. I just hate being in the position
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: of having to hope the other team and the other
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: teams point and I never really, you know, in the
- 1:19:25Speaker 1: hey day, you never felt like that. It was to me,
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: it was the opposite, like the Patriots needed to play. Yeah,
- 1:19:33Speaker 1: you know, we were talking today about I don't even
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: know how it came up. We were talking about the
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: Chargers and we're talking about that AFC Championship game in
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: over seven, and you're like, you know, that was the
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: day the Chargers blew an opportunity like they had the
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: Patriots on an off day. Brady threw three picks. They
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: were they were ripe to be beaten that day, and
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: they couldn't take advantage because they're all pro. Running back
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: was in a code on the sideline, right, you know,
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: refusing to play while the courts play the twenty cl
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: right Kelly and salt Lake. I think McDaniel should call
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: a play action shot, play straight away, something that looks
- 1:20:08Speaker 1: run heavy, where maybe only two guys actually run real roots.
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: But I think Buffalo is gonna have nine guys in
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: the box. If you come out and it looks like run,
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: take your chances, nothing to lose. You're the underdogs and ps.
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: Eric's take the ball first idea is catching traction. I
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: still say get a stop first. One of the I
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: think there's a chance they could do it, just because
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: they did it in the playoffs before. Like, I think
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: there's a chance that he might look at it and say,
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: this is this is the time we're going to switch
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: it out. And maybe maybe he's trying to catch Buffalo unprepared.
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: You know, maybe Buffalo is thinking all week Okay, they
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: win the toss, they're gonna get it, you know, and
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: and then all say, oh, oh, what's this? And then
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: I'll just be glad I'm not sitting next to you,
- 1:20:47Speaker 1: But just out of curiosity there, what's the lack of preparation.
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: I know I'm not gonna win the toss. I know
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: he's going to defer. I will FaceTime you do. Oh god,
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: damn it. Jeans in Ottawas. He's just going to text
- 1:21:03Speaker 1: me the eyeballawa. I assume it's French. He is French.
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: I simply wanted to voice my disappointment with the Patriots
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: having to face the Bills this weekend. I think we
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: have to recognize that our boys are just not quite
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: up to the challenge. Yes, in any given day, anything
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: can happen, but realistically, a victory this weekend is a
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: long shot. My concern is the long term effect this has.
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: The more entrenched the Bills become beating the Patriots, the
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: tougher it will be for the Patriots to regain the crown.
- 1:21:31Speaker 1: Just as we now have the Miami curse, we will
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: face a Bill's barricade and the fear that helped the
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: Patriots dominate for twenty years will have faded. So I
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: hope that the Patriots can surprise us this weekend, but
- 1:21:43Speaker 1: I'm not optimistic, and I'm concerned that this will have
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: a long term psychological impact on the team. And by
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: the way, I purchased a thorough gun last week based
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: on comments from the postgame show, and I'm thrilled with it.
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: There you go, So there you go, seving that product. Product. Yeah,
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: well we're moving product. I'd love to see, asked the
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: email or how he feels about the Dolphins who have
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: beaten the Patriots. Now, Well, he mentioned that, did he
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: Miami curse? You have the Miami curse, but at least
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: they're not as good as you in the standings. Oh
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: that was a big thing for you, Like you sort
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: of feel like they're behind the Dolphins too. I mean,
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: does that uh lesson in any way with Flora's leaving
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: a little bit. I mean, I just think Flora's knows
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: the Patriots, and so what if they what if they
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: get a guy in there that you think is a
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: really good coach, We'll see, we'll see. I mean I don't,
- 1:22:33Speaker 1: I'm not can I get a list ahead of time?
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: I want to fread you. I mean, if it's a retread,
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: if it's like I don't know, I think Jill, I
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: think it probably well, yeah, I mean, you know, if
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: it's at all retreads the same, yeah, no. But if
- 1:22:47Speaker 1: it's like it was Josh, I just think there's something
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: about Brian Flores and his aggressiveness and loved his you
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: know what he did here in his one season as
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: the defensive coordinator, and I just think he brings something
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: special to the bat rivalry. You know, he's going to
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: be up for this game. You know he's going to
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: try to get his guys up for this game. You know,
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: not to say that, oh, another guy comes in and
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: can't get that performance out, but there's just something special
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: about a guy who was here and understands everything that
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: needs to happen going into this game to beat the
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: team Patriots. I mean the proof is in the pudding.
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: He's done it. What what was for? And two against
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: the Patriots in his time? Yeah? Well, what do you
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: think about the report that Cassario down in Houston is saying,
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: somehow I'd like to get Josh down here in some capacities,
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: some capacity. I think what does that mean is I
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: have to think that they're trying to do that out
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: of respect for David Culley, Like what capacity could we
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: be talking about other than head coach? Quality? Quality control? Yeah,
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: Like you don't realistically think that he's going to leave
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: New England to become the Texans offensive coordinator, do you? Well? No,
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: he talks well, from what I'm told, no money more
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: than Josh McDaniels, Right, but maybe they even up that
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: and your assistant head coach and offensive coordinator, and you're
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: gonna make four million more money dollars a year than
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: you're making. Why not just make him the head coach? Yeah?
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: I think that it's I think he's talking about the
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: head coach, but he doesn't want to say we got
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: to get him down here is the head coach because oh,
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: by the way, they have a head coach under contract. Yeah, fired,
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: this is something to be said generally though, about hiring
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: offensive coordinators as head coaches and having concerns that that
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: everything you like about this coach's offense and what they've
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: done is going to be able to translate when he
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: takes on the responsibilities of the head coach. Now, maybe
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: Sean mcvagh is an example of you know, he's more
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: invested in the offense. But you know, I just would
- 1:24:38Speaker 1: be curious how much if you're worried that, all, right, well,
- 1:24:41Speaker 1: we've got a young quarterback, is Josh can be able
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: to fully focus on developing him or he can have
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: so much on his plate team building finding other guys
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: that it's not going to pay off the way you
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: think it will because he's not going to give the
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: undivided attention like he's able to give as the offensive coordinator.
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: I think you'd have to assume that he has coaches
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: that he's bringing with him who share the same philosophy
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: or the same type of skills, and that you know
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: he will pay attention in the time that he has
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: he has to obviously be the head coach as well,
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: but that he's got the staff that can do that
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: with him, and then to those coaches. Then when the
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: defense is on the field, are they like, how how
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: involved are they? That's my bigger concern than the first thing,
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: because I think people consider Belichick have having been instrumental
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: in developing Brady, right sure. I think when when you
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: think of great coach quarterback, it's Bill Walsh, Joe Montana,
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: it's Belichick, Brady, it's you know that kind of you know,
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: Mike Holmgren, Brett Farve, like, do you think of the
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: coach and the quarterback? But I worry about Deuce's thing
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: with some of these guys, and there are very few
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: guys like Bill. Bill clearly he's in charge of the
- 1:25:47Speaker 1: entire team. Yeah, I think most of these guys. Andy
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: Reid is a guy who I have an immense amount
- 1:25:53Speaker 1: of respect for. As you guys all know, he is
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: one of those guys that he's buried in his playsheet
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: and when the defense is on the field, he ain't
- 1:25:59Speaker 1: even the name of looking it's all SPACs. Now, that's
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: what you need. If you have a guy who is,
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: you know, invested on one side of the ball or
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: the other, you better have a really strong presence at
- 1:26:12Speaker 1: coordinator for the side that you're not concerned, you know,
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: Steve Spagnola in Kansas City is one of those guys. Um,
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: you know, Sean McVeigh has had you know, Wade Phillips
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: in the past. I think you know, um, what's his face?
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: My analytics buddy? Why can I not think of the
- 1:26:31Speaker 1: defensive coordinator left in uh the Staley right, Brandon Staley,
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: the chargership guy. He was his defensive coordinator last year,
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: right with the Rams, Like, you better have a good
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: coordinator who's taking care of that side of the ball
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: for you, because if you just have you know, anybody
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: over there and then you're worried, like you're gonna be
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: You're gonna be like I don't think there are a
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: lot of guys like Bill that walk over to like
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: the punt team and be like, yeah, you got it,
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: Yeah anybody Funny brough up Staley because I was thinking
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: about the exact same thing you just mentioned where he's
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: kind of got all this praise for his defensive knowledge
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: and everything, but now it's become on the other side
- 1:27:08Speaker 1: of the every time kind the one from your eighteen
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: coaching malpractice, Uh, Tom and Birmingham, England. Is there any
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: chance that one reason for our limited performances in the
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: last month is wear and tear. Not many people have misstime,
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: but our participation report is full of players with limited participation.
- 1:27:28Speaker 1: Bill has often filled the list in the past. But
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: are we simply less healthy than our opponents this year?
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: Well maybe right now, but most of the season, I
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: think you've been most of the pretty lucky. Yeah, I mean,
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: I think White and Jones, those are those are two
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: big losses that you know, but everybody's got I think
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: losses on those levels. It's not those aren't catastrophic losses
- 1:27:46Speaker 1: that completely changed the dynamic your team. Certainly James White,
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: I mean, it hurts, but um, but now it's it's
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: getting dicey, it's getting dicey in the second area. And
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: it's just I think what's frustrating is that, you know,
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: it's just a drum that you've been beaten since the draft.
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: They need more quarterbacks, they need to add, the need
- 1:28:02Speaker 1: to add, and it could get worse than the right now,
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: it's coming home to roost with I mean, it has
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: been sort of noticeable in the last two weeks that
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: the other team's injury report has been minis school compared
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: to the Patriots. But for the most part during the year.
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: I think the other team has been lacking more personnel
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: than the Patriots half, yes, yeah, but older, older guys
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: too though. I mean, you know that that's not a
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: bad point. Don't think that Tower has been on you know,
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: he he's dealing with stuff again, and I mean it's
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: just I think that's you know, and Nikovitch was talking
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: about it this morning, and I know everybody's in the
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: every rookies in the same boat, but rookie quarterbacks in particular.
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: You know, Matt Jones hasn't had a break since training
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: camp of his senior year at Alabama. You know, it's
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: been non stop since then, you know. And I think
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: it's different for a quarterback because it's so much more
- 1:28:51Speaker 1: mental too. It's not just the physical course. And I
- 1:28:54Speaker 1: don't think it's unreasonable to think that, you know, maybe
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: he is a little worn down, sure, you know, oh,
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: I mean people pooh poo it, oh, but it's you know,
- 1:29:03Speaker 1: he's had to take in a lot, oh my god,
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: a lot right in. I mean, you're in a quarterback
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: competition in the summer, you learn a whole new offense.
- 1:29:11Speaker 1: And I mean just I think that's what you forget,
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: is what a grind. The NFL is I mean, this
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: is the NFL. This is a quarterback playing, you know,
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: seventeen games for the first time. He's never really had
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: to deal with weather for Bill Belichick, and right, every
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: game is huge. I mean especially the last like month,
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: I mean every game. I mean, the way the Colts
- 1:29:30Speaker 1: were ready to play and um, it's a lot. It's Uh.
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: I was thinking a little bit about Mac and just yeah,
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: don't prepare it to ready not ready semantic argument a ready. Um.
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: But I think of Matt kind of like he's kind
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: of been like the freshman on the team this year,
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: and you know, we kind of bust his chops a
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: little bit about stuff, but you know, just next year
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: coming and then then then you go. But I'd love
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: to see him come back just with a little bit
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: more presence to him, but and a little more relaxed
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: and not this kind of like you know, freshman kind
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: of attitude that yeah, you know, just I mean it
- 1:30:08Speaker 1: doesn't have to come in like Joe Burrow cool, smoking
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: a cigar and like I don't know, but just a
- 1:30:13Speaker 1: little bit less and uh, you know, reaction and the
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: demonstrative nature of banging his arms, you know, just you
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: have a bad play, Hey, we'll walk off the field
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: like I'm at walk off like field. I remember early
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: in the season there was one game we lost at
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: home and Max spent a lot of time sitting on
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: the bench. Then he decided to get up and Bill
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: have bills like no, no, get to the locker room.
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: Bill had to like drag him off the bench and
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: buy the wrist and no, no, no, basically act like
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: a man. Ye, this is this is what we do.
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: I didn't, I mean and I didn't. The super embarrassing
- 1:30:46Speaker 1: thing too, that you know that you know a lot
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: of questions today, people thinking about you know, that being
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: too hard on himself. But you know, it's just choose
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: your words a little more carefully. Well, you know, we
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: were talking about it also. You know with this quarterback,
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: you hear a lot of you know, we can't feel
- 1:31:01Speaker 1: sorry for ourselves. You know, is he really talking about
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: the team or talking about himself? Is he projecting? You know?
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: And if that's the case, that's not a good thing. Like,
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: don't feel sorry for yourself. Get get out there and
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: the starting quarterbacks on this job. You're turn the page
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: of doing it. Yeah, there's nothing to feel sorry about
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: you know, yeah that we'll see thanks for the next
- 1:31:23Speaker 1: summer or too. Yeah, Proney says a nice discussion on
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: preparedness and non preparedness. My two cents on it is
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: if you have good players like Brady or Aaron Rodgers,
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: they can help you get away from this criticism ninety
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: percent of the time by making plays. Or if you
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: have young team assembled and not been in big situations
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: or don't have experience, it comes out to normal people
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: as coming out flat, even though they might be playing
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: the same as before. On the other note, I don't
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: know the history of the Bills coaching, but he had
- 1:31:54Speaker 1: won super Bowls with either Tom Brady or Lawrence Taylor,
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: who are the greatest to play in the sport. But
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: I get the feeling he never tries to now we're
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: talking about Bill, but I get the feeling he never
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: tries to get players in the draft who are athletically
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: gifted like Lawrence Taylor, since he had firsthand knowledge of
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: how it can change a team if a player like
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: him is present. Don't it's a little bit convoluted. I
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: really understand it. I do think he considers personalities in
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: the locker room, and you know what, happens when you know,
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: a first overall pick is bigger than the team. I
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: think he does consider the locker room hierarchy, you know,
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: and that's why it's always important to have your guys,
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: your circle, the wagon guys, which then allows you to
- 1:32:46Speaker 1: maybe take a chance on guys who might be a
- 1:32:48Speaker 1: little bit of a loose cannon here and there, which
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: I think he's done too. Yeah, I would just disagree
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: with the whole he's not interested in physically gifted guys
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: like I think there's a million examples of flamed out
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: first round picks that he falls in love with the
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: talent and says, I can I can fix it? I mean,
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: and and he gives him a shot. He's but now
- 1:33:08Speaker 1: they come in humble. He succeeded at some time. Yeah,
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: I mean, obviously, coaches have to deal with personality, right,
- 1:33:13Speaker 1: That's that's the biggest part of a coach's job is
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: dealing with all the different personalities that you have in
- 1:33:17Speaker 1: a locker room. But I think to make a blanket
- 1:33:20Speaker 1: statement saying he's not interested in physically gifted guys, oh no, no,
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: you know, it's kind of silly. Yeah, but he does,
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: you know, I I think there is something to that
- 1:33:31Speaker 1: email in that, you know, as as great as Lawrence
- 1:33:35Speaker 1: Taylor was, a guy like that can derail your team
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: if you're not careful. Yeah, or a Randy Moss even
- 1:33:42Speaker 1: or you know Pie Pipers. Yeah, you know. And yet
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: you just rattled off a great example of him gravitating
- 1:33:49Speaker 1: to that guy. Oh yeah, yeah, he's it's not like,
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: and not only giving it to him, but then giving
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: him a contract on top of it. I did the
- 1:33:54Speaker 1: same thing with Corey Dillon, right, and he felt like
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: I have the structure in place to be able to
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: absorb that, you know. So I don't think he backs
- 1:34:01Speaker 1: away from those guys that are immensely talented. But I
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: also think I've always kind of believed that he just
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: naturally gravitates towards the kind of guys that might go
- 1:34:09Speaker 1: to Navy. It's like the naturally gravitates two versatile players, right,
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: That's like he always says, you know, I'll take a
- 1:34:17Speaker 1: guy like Lawrence Taylor if he's that good at that thing.
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: But he, I think, is always looking for a guy
- 1:34:25Speaker 1: who can do all of the different things that hit
- 1:34:27Speaker 1: you know, whatever the position is. Yeah, and that's going
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: to lead you to a guy who's probably a little
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: bit less skilled because not he doesn't want the skill,
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: he wants versatility Jack of all. Yeah, master and and
- 1:34:39Speaker 1: I think that's where he gets in trouble sometimes. But
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: there's countless examples of him going after the most talented. Yeah,
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: and I think that's the other That was the other
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: part I was going to say. I think there's always
- 1:34:47Speaker 1: something about those generational players that you know, just unique,
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: and and then he'll always give them a chance. It's
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: a question I've kind of wanted to ask him. I
- 1:34:57Speaker 1: haven't really had the right opportunity, But you know, guy
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: like John Lee who was here for a week, three
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: weeks fret Patriots, John Lyncher, But I think that that
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: was always looks a non bus But that was always
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: an example for me of when those guys, you know,
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: Torry Holt, he was here for a week, Ridgie Wayne
- 1:35:16Speaker 1: for a little bit. Guys are always just but even
- 1:35:19Speaker 1: if they're not, Okay, they don't all work, No, they don't.
- 1:35:22Speaker 1: They're immensely talented players. Some have worked. But but is
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: there a difference between gravitating toward the immensely talented players
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: in their second time around and taking him fresh out
- 1:35:33Speaker 1: of college. So like like Chad Jackson at Bethel Johnson
- 1:35:36Speaker 1: for example, for example, like you got DK Metcalf or
- 1:35:40Speaker 1: you got to kill Harry. They mentally talented players. Maybe
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: the report with Harry is, you know, he doesn't He's
- 1:35:48Speaker 1: not as outgoing as Metcalf. Metcalf is, cocky metcalf is,
- 1:35:52Speaker 1: you know from day one, he's you know, and maybe
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: that's a difference maker from Bill. I don't know, you know,
- 1:35:57Speaker 1: I think it is. I think there was something about
- 1:36:00Speaker 1: Harry's ability to a willingness to block. Yeah that again
- 1:36:04Speaker 1: back to that he does everything. But I think Harry
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: was one of the most physically gifted players at that
- 1:36:09Speaker 1: position coming out. Oh he still looks like a beast.
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: Just wasn't what now, it hasn't translated some guys. I
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: mean that's that's the way it is. But it hasn't
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: translated on the field. But that's where he came into
- 1:36:21Speaker 1: the league as one of the most physically gifted players
- 1:36:23Speaker 1: at that position coming I mean Chad Jackson too, I
- 1:36:25Speaker 1: mean he's probably even jack Bethel Johnson was as fast
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: as any guy I've ever seen, I mean, just ridiculous speed,
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: and they ended up trading him for Jonathan Sullivan, a
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: flamed out first round pick on the defensive line. Yeah, well,
- 1:36:39Speaker 1: you know, again, another very talented guy didn't work out, right.
- 1:36:42Speaker 1: But I think it's more personality than the talent. You know,
- 1:36:45Speaker 1: when the when the talent is coupled with you know,
- 1:36:49Speaker 1: a alpha type of personality, like I remember Bethel Johnson
- 1:36:52Speaker 1: here in saying the more someone tells me to do something,
- 1:36:56Speaker 1: the more I don't want to do it. I'm thinking myself,
- 1:36:59Speaker 1: that's not gonna work here. Yeah, you know, well, what
- 1:37:01Speaker 1: else was it? Were his issues? Because I really didn't
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: study the team is like I did starting in oh six, like,
- 1:37:06Speaker 1: but because he was kind of before that, like what
- 1:37:07Speaker 1: was his like how did they see? Was he kind
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: of the outside X speed down the field guy like
- 1:37:11Speaker 1: Fred just yeah, yes, yeah, yeah, Fred, Fred's blazing speed.
- 1:37:15Speaker 1: Fred's anecdotes, I think is why he didn't work. Yeah.
- 1:37:18Speaker 1: I think there was, and it's not secondhand. I heard
- 1:37:21Speaker 1: him say I remember a time that um, you know,
- 1:37:25Speaker 1: remember we used to walk in the locker room Eric
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: a lot of times and there was like the Domino's
- 1:37:28Speaker 1: tables and yeah, Random actually did a feature on that.
- 1:37:32Speaker 1: Random Reindeer Games would be going on. It was one
- 1:37:34Speaker 1: day Bethel Johnson had like an umbrella and someone was
- 1:37:39Speaker 1: pitching like tape balls into him as we were walking
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: in and McGinnis just came over and he goes you
- 1:37:43Speaker 1: all up to speed in your playbook. M h. These
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: are the kinds of things that you think of when
- 1:37:49Speaker 1: you see young players and then they don't work out
- 1:37:51Speaker 1: and you're like, oh, I know why it didn't work out.
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: There it is, Yeah, I know why it didn't work out.
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: I mean it's hard enough just evaluating college kids generally
- 1:37:59Speaker 1: as they go in to the professional world. I mean,
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: it's just a whole new environment generally for anybody that
- 1:38:04Speaker 1: you're going from being a kid and you know, not
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: really having responsibilities to now you know all the pressures
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: and everything of Bills and I mean it's obviously in
- 1:38:12Speaker 1: an NFL situation, it's familiar in one sense that you're
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: playing football, but it's it's a totally different world now
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: with reporters asking you questions and you know, needing to
- 1:38:21Speaker 1: be a professional football And that's why I agree with
- 1:38:23Speaker 1: Fred's premise of it's the talent with a certain mindset,
- 1:38:28Speaker 1: a maturity, because I think that Bill looks at It's
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: like the guys that got by with their share ability
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: in college. Now we're going to go into a league
- 1:38:38Speaker 1: where everybody has that ability. Yeah yeah, So what separates
- 1:38:42Speaker 1: you now is do you have a drive and a
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: work ethic that is going to match your physical skills
- 1:38:49Speaker 1: and then you become reality Moss. Yeah yeah, I think,
- 1:38:51Speaker 1: you know, you become one of those guys that that
- 1:38:54Speaker 1: is hungry. And you know, Moss came in and set
- 1:38:57Speaker 1: the world on fire with Minnesota. It wasn't you know
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: a lot of people think, you know, he set the
- 1:39:01Speaker 1: record with the Patriots. That's where he's got his career.
- 1:39:04Speaker 1: He was a great Hall of Fame player before he
- 1:39:06Speaker 1: ever I mean, he cemented the Hall of Fame with
- 1:39:09Speaker 1: the Patriots, but he was already Hall of Fame worthy
- 1:39:11Speaker 1: before he ever got here. So that's marrying that, you know.
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: And how many times has Bill said he was one
- 1:39:17Speaker 1: of the smartest football players I've ever seen, right about
- 1:39:19Speaker 1: Randy Moss, And I don't think a lot of people
- 1:39:21Speaker 1: outside would have thought of him that way. That's why
- 1:39:23Speaker 1: it clicked immediately when he got here, because he was
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: as smart as Tom Brady. Yes, you know, somebody. Everything
- 1:39:29Speaker 1: I think was kind of how we put it. Yeah,
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: it goes into like the serious football guys, and that's
- 1:39:35Speaker 1: what I always thought, like, dugger kind of is like
- 1:39:37Speaker 1: these guys when you come in, you're like, yeah, you're
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: twenty four, but you sound like you are very serious
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: and you know what you're gonna do here, and football
- 1:39:44Speaker 1: is very important. Just there's no like I can't believe
- 1:39:47Speaker 1: I'm here, you know, wide eyes. I wonder I don't
- 1:39:49Speaker 1: know why this hasn't occurred to me before, but what
- 1:39:52Speaker 1: Randy's career here would have been like if they had
- 1:39:56Speaker 1: won in two thousand and seven. Yeah, you know, if
- 1:39:59Speaker 1: he gotten the ring and they had completed that journey
- 1:40:02Speaker 1: that year, would he still have been as sour as
- 1:40:06Speaker 1: as the years? I think he would have wanted the
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: money even faster. Do you think it would have been worse? Well,
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: it could have been, yeah, yeah, And I mean he
- 1:40:14Speaker 1: left because he wanted more money, right, the whole respect thing.
- 1:40:21Speaker 1: He got traded. He got traded, but only after he
- 1:40:24Speaker 1: had the respect equal money. He had quit the year
- 1:40:29Speaker 1: before halfway through the year, but he wasn't getting touches.
- 1:40:33Speaker 1: He wanted more money though, right, No, he didn't leave
- 1:40:37Speaker 1: over money. He left over his role. He was pouting
- 1:40:40Speaker 1: after that. Remember that Monday night win where they had
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: like Patrick Chung returned. I think he returned to pick
- 1:40:46Speaker 1: and they blocked a No, I think Nick might have
- 1:40:48Speaker 1: had a pick six. Chung blocked a field and returned.
- 1:40:51Speaker 1: He had like nothing, He had nothing to do with
- 1:40:53Speaker 1: a blowout win, and he was pouting after the game.
- 1:40:56Speaker 1: That's why he left because he had no role and
- 1:40:58Speaker 1: he was talking out, absolutely talked his way out. He
- 1:41:02Speaker 1: quit on the field in the middle of the O
- 1:41:03Speaker 1: nine season. Yeah, I remember vividly in a game against
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: Carolina and it was like a three nothing game at
- 1:41:10Speaker 1: the half. They got booed mercilessly going off the field
- 1:41:13Speaker 1: and Randy Moss went through the motions the whole rest.
- 1:41:16Speaker 1: I think he was going through the motions because he
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: got the contract Fred. He wasn't money. No, they gave
- 1:41:21Speaker 1: him the money. No, that's the problem. Was he give
- 1:41:24Speaker 1: those guys the money. It was just one. It was
- 1:41:26Speaker 1: a long term in a for him. I remember, I
- 1:41:29Speaker 1: remember he wanted a longer term deal. Quick little news
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: item aside, the NBC Sports Boston has it up. The
- 1:41:36Speaker 1: Bears are requesting to talk to Elliot. I was looking
- 1:41:39Speaker 1: for that tweat because I saw that real Quatriots personnel guy,
- 1:41:43Speaker 1: I figured somebody in our personnel would be going because
- 1:41:46Speaker 1: we seem to be top loaded a little bit. You know,
- 1:41:48Speaker 1: We've got Elliott Wolf, We've got um who's the other
- 1:41:52Speaker 1: guy that they brought A Ziegler, Dave Ziegler. They've got
- 1:41:55Speaker 1: you know, I felt like one of them is probably
- 1:41:58Speaker 1: gonna go somewhere, and he was an the Packers Packers
- 1:42:01Speaker 1: guy too. Yeah, go back to the NFC North, Yeah,
- 1:42:06Speaker 1: joelan Ottawa writes in I'm all in favor of the
- 1:42:08Speaker 1: Patriots taking the ball first if we win. The coin
- 1:42:11Speaker 1: talks amazing how much mileage we're getting. Yeah, not because
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: I think they can march down the field and score,
- 1:42:16Speaker 1: but because I think Gunner is due to run one back.
- 1:42:20Speaker 1: I just hope there's no peel back block. I have
- 1:42:23Speaker 1: low expectations for this game, but happy with the season
- 1:42:26Speaker 1: and looking forward to next year already. Yeah, I kind
- 1:42:29Speaker 1: of I'm kind of going into this game with an
- 1:42:31Speaker 1: open mind. I don't really feel the playoff nerves and jitters,
- 1:42:35Speaker 1: and I think the hopefully that's how they feel. They
- 1:42:37Speaker 1: just go in and play, all right, We got some
- 1:42:40Speaker 1: people that have been holding on for a while, So
- 1:42:42Speaker 1: let's take some phone calls to end the show. Williams
- 1:42:45Speaker 1: in Philadelphia, William Philly, what's up William? Oh? You you
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: held down for so long and now you're not the
- 1:42:53Speaker 1: job hardy? Oh? Okay? Hop about Rashad in Baltimore? What's
- 1:42:58Speaker 1: up Rashad? The stuff and stuff? I just, um, I
- 1:43:02Speaker 1: guess I had a little quick thing. Um, I don't know.
- 1:43:04Speaker 1: I was listening to nine eight point five this morning.
- 1:43:06Speaker 1: They were talking about sorry, you know, and how he
- 1:43:10Speaker 1: um like been going out for self like I guess
- 1:43:13Speaker 1: when he passed up. If he's literally just starting over
- 1:43:16Speaker 1: the quarterback and he doesn't get on, you know, just
- 1:43:19Speaker 1: get a job. I'm just asking to you guys, thinking
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: he is like like this is like gestimental to the thing,
- 1:43:24Speaker 1: like he's it's like the only word about the stuff
- 1:43:27Speaker 1: and not his wounds, you know, when he's containing the
- 1:43:30Speaker 1: ads or whatever it is. I want to hear you
- 1:43:32Speaker 1: that stuff. Yeah, So if I if I get the
- 1:43:36Speaker 1: gist of your do you think that him him being
- 1:43:39Speaker 1: down on his performance is kind of a selfish thing?
- 1:43:44Speaker 1: Is that what you're saying? Yeah, I'm yeah, I'm I'm
- 1:43:47Speaker 1: thinking like the lad I don't know, like the last
- 1:43:49Speaker 1: four six weeks is like, you know, I guess when
- 1:43:52Speaker 1: he passed up that he literally just r just the
- 1:43:54Speaker 1: quarterback and that's that. Like he doesn't, you know, try
- 1:43:57Speaker 1: to anything else, like if somebody the quarterback, you know,
- 1:44:01Speaker 1: he might run a little bit, then he'll just give up. Yeah,
- 1:44:05Speaker 1: I don't know that. I don't know. I you know, um,
- 1:44:11Speaker 1: thanks for the call. You know. The question with him
- 1:44:13Speaker 1: is is there something else? Has he heard a little
- 1:44:15Speaker 1: bit that we don't know about. Someone had said he
- 1:44:17Speaker 1: might be dealing with a rib injury, Yeah, some sort,
- 1:44:19Speaker 1: So I don't know. He definitely is frustrated out there.
- 1:44:22Speaker 1: I mean that play, you know, the call that he
- 1:44:25Speaker 1: had that was unnecessary, that's out of frustration he's not
- 1:44:28Speaker 1: getting there. Then the question is is that all he's
- 1:44:32Speaker 1: good for is getting to the quarterback and you know,
- 1:44:35Speaker 1: you know that, I don't know, like you know, in
- 1:44:37Speaker 1: the run game, is he a liability and he has
- 1:44:40Speaker 1: to come off the field. I'm not sure. I thought
- 1:44:43Speaker 1: he was a pretty well rounded player. Well that's what's funny.
- 1:44:45Speaker 1: And I think we talked about this on I don't
- 1:44:47Speaker 1: know which show, but but Paul brought up when he
- 1:44:49Speaker 1: when he we signed him. I think we all kind
- 1:44:51Speaker 1: of agreed, like it's a good edge setter, but I
- 1:44:53Speaker 1: don't know if he's going to bring any pass rush heat.
- 1:44:54Speaker 1: Like that was I think our impression to him arriving. Um,
- 1:44:57Speaker 1: So it was a little bit surprising, you know, I
- 1:44:59Speaker 1: mean a little bit right when he was just a
- 1:45:00Speaker 1: dominant pass rusher route. I think there's times when he
- 1:45:03Speaker 1: struggles with the Patriots approach at times where it's you know,
- 1:45:08Speaker 1: like don't let the quarterback out of the pocket and
- 1:45:10Speaker 1: contain and I think that that might be hard for
- 1:45:13Speaker 1: him at times, like like I don't know how many
- 1:45:15Speaker 1: tackles did he have in the last game. I know
- 1:45:17Speaker 1: I saw him have at least one, you know, on
- 1:45:19Speaker 1: a run play. Yeah, you know, like it's not like
- 1:45:21Speaker 1: he shies away from it, no, you know. But I
- 1:45:24Speaker 1: think what's frustrating too, is that you've seen I mean
- 1:45:27Speaker 1: Miami play, Judan had three tackles, three tackles, you know,
- 1:45:30Speaker 1: by a lot of accounts, Miami had the worst offensive
- 1:45:32Speaker 1: line in the league. So you know, just that I
- 1:45:34Speaker 1: think that exacerbates the in retrospect what you're thinking of
- 1:45:39Speaker 1: his play I just I think he's got to be
- 1:45:41Speaker 1: unleashed this weekend to say, you know, we always talk
- 1:45:43Speaker 1: about Bill taking away that one guy. You know, we
- 1:45:45Speaker 1: remember games here with JJ Watter or Clay Matthews where
- 1:45:48Speaker 1: they just weren't a factor. Well, if you're a if
- 1:45:51Speaker 1: you're another team after midway through the season, you're like,
- 1:45:55Speaker 1: we can't let Judon do that. Yeah, you know, so
- 1:45:58Speaker 1: that they might be just focusing on him enough where
- 1:46:01Speaker 1: I disagree he's just not getting there. I go back
- 1:46:04Speaker 1: to a and he had three tackles and each of
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: the two Buffalo games as well. So he hasn't been
- 1:46:10Speaker 1: effective in a long time. But uh, the Kyle van
- 1:46:14Speaker 1: Noy thing that I brought up to you guys yesterday,
- 1:46:16Speaker 1: there's an older podcast that Van Noy appeared with Chris Long. Um,
- 1:46:22Speaker 1: it's got to be like two months ago now. Somebody
- 1:46:24Speaker 1: tweeted about yesterday. But there's been a clip that they've
- 1:46:26Speaker 1: played on the radio a lot. I you know, I
- 1:46:28Speaker 1: didn't hear the whole podcast, so I might be guilty
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: of taking a clip in extrapolating. But Chris Long is
- 1:46:36Speaker 1: talking now. Chris Long, if you remember, came here, did
- 1:46:39Speaker 1: what he was told to do for one year, didn't
- 1:46:42Speaker 1: I didn't like it. Right, one has spoken, no ill
- 1:46:45Speaker 1: will whatsoever. Bill Belichick loves Bill Belichick, but I didn't
- 1:46:50Speaker 1: like having to play the style that he had to
- 1:46:52Speaker 1: play to be successful here, right, and was outspoken about
- 1:46:55Speaker 1: Benet's that one, and that's why he left. YEA, so
- 1:46:59Speaker 1: he said to U, Kyle Vannoys, it looks to me
- 1:47:03Speaker 1: from watching Judeon and I'm paraphrasing, maybe Mike can get
- 1:47:05Speaker 1: the exact quote, it looks to me like Judon takes
- 1:47:09Speaker 1: a lot of those nine yard loops behind the quarterback
- 1:47:12Speaker 1: and he's is he just allowed to do whatever he
- 1:47:15Speaker 1: wants and that's how he's getting these sacks. And Vannoy
- 1:47:18Speaker 1: started laughing and said, no comment. Oh so, which tells
- 1:47:23Speaker 1: me that sometimes you're racking up sacks and everybody thinks
- 1:47:27Speaker 1: that you're doing great. Right, Maybe Bill Belichick didn't think
- 1:47:31Speaker 1: he was doing so great the way he was playing, right,
- 1:47:35Speaker 1: And those sacks a great coverage and we well, just
- 1:47:38Speaker 1: in general or like inexperienced quarterbacks running into it, which
- 1:47:41Speaker 1: happened at least a couple of times that we can recall. Yeah,
- 1:47:44Speaker 1: the one that he had the last sac that he
- 1:47:46Speaker 1: had in Buffalo was the play that Alan tripped over
- 1:47:48Speaker 1: his lineman's feet and then he got up and didn't
- 1:47:51Speaker 1: realize that he wasn't down, and then he ran right
- 1:47:53Speaker 1: into Judean right. That was the sack Um. So I
- 1:47:58Speaker 1: think that sometimes if that's in fact true, if he's
- 1:48:01Speaker 1: sort of freelancing, like I absolutely think he was out
- 1:48:05Speaker 1: of position quite frequently over the last two months. I
- 1:48:08Speaker 1: thought Tennessee ran right at him because he gets upfield
- 1:48:12Speaker 1: and they run right inside him. Yeah, and Tua was
- 1:48:15Speaker 1: able to make that last play to end the game.
- 1:48:19Speaker 1: The other to to officially end the game Um by
- 1:48:21Speaker 1: getting the first down on the third and eight scramble
- 1:48:23Speaker 1: because he's way upfield. And I think that's been a
- 1:48:27Speaker 1: consistent thing. So I don't again, I don't know, like
- 1:48:31Speaker 1: I'm not I'm not the defensive coordinator. I don't know.
- 1:48:34Speaker 1: But I just found that that whole dynamic interesting with
- 1:48:37Speaker 1: Chris Long and Kyle van Noy sort of talking about
- 1:48:40Speaker 1: the way he goes like, Okay, but don't you don't
- 1:48:44Speaker 1: you never put your teammate under the bus like that,
- 1:48:48Speaker 1: even a no comment, you don't do that, and he laughed, Yeah,
- 1:48:52Speaker 1: you just to say, yeah, I could get twelve and
- 1:48:58Speaker 1: I have zags if I just like you're just in
- 1:49:00Speaker 1: the basement, Chris Lawn. It's a podcast that people are
- 1:49:03Speaker 1: gonna listen to, and I think that's something with those podcasts.
- 1:49:05Speaker 1: I think that comes into play. Fred. Ye think they
- 1:49:08Speaker 1: get comfortable. We're just doing a podcast out of the
- 1:49:11Speaker 1: guy's house, like no one's listening. It's like guys that
- 1:49:14Speaker 1: would come in here and they get too comfortable. And
- 1:49:16Speaker 1: now we can't have guys. I don't have guests, right,
- 1:49:19Speaker 1: we can't have nice things. You couldn't find that I
- 1:49:22Speaker 1: could change as I was trying to looking for it.
- 1:49:23Speaker 1: But I mean, I think you uh, by the way,
- 1:49:26Speaker 1: our resident cartoonist, doctor McLeod, Yes, he's had some really
- 1:49:31Speaker 1: good ones. Later, what's the one was with Eldred designed
- 1:49:35Speaker 1: with driving That's a good one. And on the phone
- 1:49:38Speaker 1: is Eldred, what's up Eldred? I think about Matt. Y'all
- 1:49:49Speaker 1: worry about Matt this game right here? Off game first
- 1:49:53Speaker 1: time in NFL, and yeah, and I was biggle without
- 1:49:56Speaker 1: coming at him with a kitchen think everything, and the
- 1:50:00Speaker 1: I'm not like freaking out worried. I'm curious to see
- 1:50:03Speaker 1: how he's gonna do, man, you know, but I have
- 1:50:05Speaker 1: faith in mac. Yeah, okay. And then one more thing, Paul,
- 1:50:10Speaker 1: You're right owned with mouse. He got mad because they
- 1:50:14Speaker 1: faded him out to fight. He faded him out of
- 1:50:16Speaker 1: dolf I know he wanted his kitchen, he wanted to
- 1:50:19Speaker 1: you know, Jimmy right, Yeah, I remember it. I know it.
- 1:50:25Speaker 1: It was. I mean, everybody thinks they're underpaid. I'm not
- 1:50:28Speaker 1: saying that money is you know, was no object. But
- 1:50:31Speaker 1: he just signed a three year, twenty seven million dollar
- 1:50:33Speaker 1: contract that everybody universally despised the day they signed it.
- 1:50:37Speaker 1: And then oh, by the way, he quit halfway through it. Yeah,
- 1:50:41Speaker 1: he quit. Wasn't because of money. It was because he
- 1:50:43Speaker 1: wasn't getting his touch. Brian was Dolfins coordinator, did and
- 1:50:47Speaker 1: he faded him out because if you go back to that,
- 1:50:49Speaker 1: it if they're the greatest. When he played back the game,
- 1:50:52Speaker 1: when the guy got to us after that two thousand
- 1:50:54Speaker 1: and the Super Bowl we lost to the Giant, promptly stayed,
- 1:50:59Speaker 1: we've got a change something because I'm getting tired of
- 1:51:02Speaker 1: the shut most down and welcome on half of the field.
- 1:51:06Speaker 1: So he went to the tight end. That's when you
- 1:51:07Speaker 1: got on Nanz and you got grunk. And they also
- 1:51:10Speaker 1: gave him praises for like I said, running decore and
- 1:51:13Speaker 1: they was getting open. So that's how they went him.
- 1:51:16Speaker 1: But he got tired. He did quit. I admit that
- 1:51:18Speaker 1: he did quit because they faded him out the offense
- 1:51:22Speaker 1: and men, like I said, I was happy when they
- 1:51:23Speaker 1: side most first stake because I did say super Bowl,
- 1:51:26Speaker 1: but we didn't win. It did go yeah, all right,
- 1:51:32Speaker 1: thanks already. I wonder how much Rex Ryan and the
- 1:51:35Speaker 1: Jets kind of influenced that that shift um to Dion
- 1:51:39Speaker 1: Branch and you know, I think losing in nine and ten,
- 1:51:43Speaker 1: I think part of that was, I mean, Rivus obviously
- 1:51:46Speaker 1: being there, but I always thought that that was somewhat
- 1:51:49Speaker 1: influenced by we gotta get the ball all quick, They're
- 1:51:52Speaker 1: gonna be pressuring us a ton, that kind of thing.
- 1:51:55Speaker 1: But yeah, he was asked, I just looking this up
- 1:51:58Speaker 1: and someone has a little bit of a some murray,
- 1:52:01Speaker 1: and it said, um. For example, the coach tip typically
- 1:52:07Speaker 1: prohibits rushes from running past the passer during a pass rush.
- 1:52:10Speaker 1: It seems Judon is allowed to do that in part
- 1:52:12Speaker 1: because he could somehow generate sacks from that point no comment.
- 1:52:16Speaker 1: Van Noy said, let's throwing your teammate under the bus.
- 1:52:20Speaker 1: I'm sorry you got to do play Devil's advocate. Could
- 1:52:25Speaker 1: he just have been trying not to get himself in
- 1:52:28Speaker 1: trouble with giving away a game plan? Van Noy, I'm
- 1:52:32Speaker 1: talking about that. He must laugh him because Long was
- 1:52:37Speaker 1: no longer probably nailed it right. But the way, the
- 1:52:40Speaker 1: way Long brought it up to Van Noy, this is
- 1:52:42Speaker 1: why I wish we had the clip. But um, you know,
- 1:52:45Speaker 1: Matt's too busy making fun of us in his opens.
- 1:52:53Speaker 1: Look look at he's getting. I could kill you in
- 1:52:57Speaker 1: a variety of ways, um, special talent. The way Long
- 1:53:01Speaker 1: brought it up to Vannoi was in a sort of
- 1:53:04Speaker 1: like tongue in cheek. I know, I know, you know,
- 1:53:09Speaker 1: and you know that I know, right you ain't supposed
- 1:53:12Speaker 1: to do it that way with Vannois, Like I can't
- 1:53:13Speaker 1: believe you, but I can't believe you brought up but
- 1:53:17Speaker 1: right now you know that's the way I think it
- 1:53:19Speaker 1: all went down. Yeah, that makes sense, That's that's what
- 1:53:21Speaker 1: sells me. But I think the Van Nois response to
- 1:53:23Speaker 1: my car Yeah, no, I mean all there are always
- 1:53:25Speaker 1: times when we kind of do say he's fine. To
- 1:53:27Speaker 1: Fred's point, that should have been Van Noois's answer, right, right,
- 1:53:30Speaker 1: you know, I don't know anyway. That's gonna be it
- 1:53:33Speaker 1: for this edition of Patriots Unfiltered. We'll be back tomorrow
- 1:53:37Speaker 1: on Thursday. But hurry kind of like a Friday because
- 1:53:40Speaker 1: it's a Saturday game. We got picks. We don't have
- 1:53:42Speaker 1: to hurry. We don't have to hurry. I was last
- 1:53:44Speaker 1: week just a were people mostly good? No, no, no,
- 1:53:52Speaker 1: I don't think anybody was really good. No, okay, all right,
- 1:53:55Speaker 1: last week of the season is tough. Yeah, all right,
- 1:53:58Speaker 1: that's all right. That's all I wanted to know. Yeah, mediocre.
- 1:54:00Speaker 1: We'll save it. We'll save if everybody was adequate about
