- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Mark Simone Show on seven ten. Wi
- 0:04Speaker 1: Kin from Mark Today, here's Ken Rosatto. I'd great to
- 0:08Speaker 1: have you with us on your Friday of Memorial Day weekend. Again,
- 0:11Speaker 1: remember the good folks who fought and die for us.
- 0:14Speaker 1: That's what Memorial Day is about. And remember kind of
- 0:17Speaker 1: resisting happy Memorial Day instead. I mean, it's fine to
- 0:20Speaker 1: say have a good Memorial Day, but happy is not
- 0:23Speaker 1: what it's about. It's about remembering those people who died
- 0:27Speaker 1: for us. It should be a solemn time. So just
- 0:30Speaker 1: remember that. Don't want to bring everybody down, but just
- 0:32Speaker 1: kind of remember that because of them we have the
- 0:34Speaker 1: freedom and the joy and the abilities that we have today.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Eight hundred three to two one zero seven ten, eight
- 0:39Speaker 1: hundred and three to two one zero seven ten. Time
- 0:42Speaker 1: to go to our busy phones. We go to Rob
- 0:43Speaker 1: in Franklin Square. Good morning Rob, Good morning to you.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Ken. It's nice to hear if we're filling from walking
- 0:48Speaker 2: in the problem I have. I always remember my Memorial
- 0:53Speaker 2: Day was always on May thirtieth. Right now, I understand
- 0:58Speaker 2: with the thing with the three day holiday, but they
- 1:00Speaker 2: push it up Monday morning. Why couldn't they? Why couldn't
- 1:04Speaker 2: Memorial Day, be May twenty night, next Friday. You could
- 1:07Speaker 2: give people Friday, Saturday and Sunday. If that's what's so important.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Now everybody's worried about it's going to be rainy for
- 1:15Speaker 2: this weekend. Too bad, right, you know it's not the
- 1:19Speaker 2: Memorial Days, not for hot dogs and you know, I mean,
- 1:21Speaker 2: it's not to have family get togethers. But that's the
- 1:23Speaker 2: thing I remember. I think it was about nineteen seventy nine.
- 1:27Speaker 2: I was a big Dave Kingman fan. I went down
- 1:30Speaker 2: to the VET to see the Cubs and the Phillies
- 1:32Speaker 2: play was on a Thursday, a beautiful day May thirtieth.
- 1:37Speaker 2: So that's why people today. The person that was on
- 1:43Speaker 2: the show before you that she interviewed the people there
- 1:45Speaker 2: was one month. It looked like a mom in the
- 1:47Speaker 2: thirties and she asked, well, what do you think about?
- 1:50Speaker 2: She says, yeah, well, I know, I'm not sure whether
- 1:52Speaker 2: it's about I think it's something about the veterans. That's
- 1:56Speaker 2: what's the people all are early interested is a three day.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Well and you know what if I could jump in,
- 2:02Speaker 1: rup let me jump in if I may rob please,
- 2:04Speaker 1: And that is I think part of it is also
- 2:06Speaker 1: on those of us who are broadcasting. You know, all
- 2:09Speaker 1: the years I was a Channel seven and this is
- 2:11Speaker 1: not This is not to knock Channel seven. This was
- 2:13Speaker 1: every broadcast news outlet. You really need to have a
- 2:18Speaker 1: kind of revision, nut revision. It's what's the word. I'm
- 2:20Speaker 1: looking for? A reminder. Course, it should be incumbent upon
- 2:24Speaker 1: the broadcasters to remind people what it's about. That's what
- 2:28Speaker 1: it is. We're supposed to be in the public interest, right,
- 2:30Speaker 1: We're supposed to be here serving the public. That's part
- 2:32Speaker 1: of it. Just remember that this day is for this
- 2:35Speaker 1: reason because younger people coming up don't know, and new
- 2:38Speaker 1: people have moved here from other countries don't know. And
- 2:40Speaker 1: it doesn't hurt to take a segment a second to
- 2:42Speaker 1: remind people. But you know what, Rob is one hundred
- 2:44Speaker 1: percent right, and yes I do remember when it was
- 2:46Speaker 1: the same day every year. Now it feels like sometimes,
- 2:48Speaker 1: oh it's a memorial day, it's the second of May.
- 2:50Speaker 1: No stop, stop, I get it. But the main job
- 2:54Speaker 1: is we should remember those who fought and died. That's
- 2:56Speaker 1: the most important thing. Let's go to Joe in Elmwood Park.
- 2:59Speaker 3: Good morning, Joe, Good morning you Ken, good morning. Always
- 3:02Speaker 3: taking morning. Fits you said we could talk about anything.
- 3:05Speaker 3: Where is Jack Tibbarelli. How come he's not? We have
- 3:08Speaker 3: this clown here, this Mickey whatever her name is. I
- 3:14Speaker 3: can't get over and I don't understand.
- 3:16Speaker 1: I know. Look, you know, I do a daily show
- 3:18Speaker 1: in New Jersey every day and I covered Jack up
- 3:22Speaker 1: and down. Jack's a wonderful, wonderful guy. Love Jack to death.
- 3:26Speaker 1: It's just New Jersey's a tough state right now. And
- 3:30Speaker 1: if there's any state that that shows the blue underbelly
- 3:34Speaker 1: when there's when there's an election and there's something they
- 3:36Speaker 1: don't like from the right, it's New Jersey, unfortunately. And
- 3:39Speaker 1: and that's the deal. We haven't seen much of Jack,
- 3:41Speaker 1: but I think because right now he's probably he's he's
- 3:44Speaker 1: feeling it.
- 3:45Speaker 4: Uh.
- 3:45Speaker 1: He spent a lot of time and money, and I
- 3:47Speaker 1: think there were polls that showed he could have pulled
- 3:48Speaker 1: it off. But I don't know. If I I don't
- 3:52Speaker 1: want to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but.
- 3:55Speaker 3: Yeah, you know what I mean, anybody with three brain
- 3:57Speaker 3: cells knew that last time Murphy stole it from him.
- 4:00Speaker 3: That was obvious. And now we got this clown and
- 4:04Speaker 3: people are leaving.
- 4:05Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, people say that's just anecdotal. I know
- 4:09Speaker 1: four different families who've left New Jersey in the last
- 4:11Speaker 1: few months. And by the way, the funniest part, Joe,
- 4:13Speaker 1: not all of them are are Republicans. I have some
- 4:15Speaker 1: Democrat friends to say they can't afford it anymore. And
- 4:17Speaker 1: they went and retired down in Florida too. They can't
- 4:19Speaker 1: take it.
- 4:20Speaker 3: And what about all the corporations Standard oil, standard is
- 4:25Speaker 3: shell in or standard' sorry is mobile?
- 4:28Speaker 1: So Exon Mobil. Remember Exon Mobile started out. Remember they
- 4:32Speaker 1: started out as s O Standard Oil, and then it
- 4:36Speaker 1: became E S s O s O and then it
- 4:38Speaker 1: became Exon and then Mobile, et cetera. So, for those
- 4:41Speaker 1: of you that don't realize the history of it, but
- 4:43Speaker 1: that was headquartered in New Jersey since its inception. It's gone.
- 4:46Speaker 1: But that's what you get when you get liberals in
- 4:48Speaker 1: charge who really don't care about the corporations they claim
- 4:51Speaker 1: to love because they get all the money from them.
- 4:54Speaker 1: That's it, dropping like flies, all right, Joe, thank you
- 4:57Speaker 1: so much. Enjoy enjoy family gather but let's remember the
- 5:01Speaker 1: good folks who fought in that for us. Thank you, Jim.
- 5:04Speaker 1: And then we go to Maria in Connecticut, Good morning
- 5:06Speaker 1: to you, Good morning to you.
- 5:09Speaker 4: I want to tell you before my question, you are
- 5:11Speaker 4: a wonderful host for him. Hell, we look forward to
- 5:14Speaker 4: Park and I get disappointed when there's somebody else.
- 5:17Speaker 3: But you're really.
- 5:17Speaker 1: Fabulous, honest, honestly, Maria, if I could get I get
- 5:21Speaker 1: disappointed too, even when I'm on, because I listened every No,
- 5:25Speaker 1: I'm serious, not that I don't love sitting here, but
- 5:28Speaker 1: I've said it over and over again. I'm not a liar.
- 5:30Speaker 1: I love the Mark Simon show. And when I tell you,
- 5:34Speaker 1: I listen to this station from nine am on so
- 5:36Speaker 1: I catch the end of Curtis and I listened to
- 5:42Speaker 1: the Morning Show. Of course, I've listened to the Morning
- 5:44Speaker 1: Show Larry and when it was Larry Menty alone, and
- 5:47Speaker 1: then Larry and Curtis since they came together. I get
- 5:49Speaker 1: the nine to ten hour because that's when I'm done
- 5:51Speaker 1: with my show in New Jersey. Then I listen to
- 5:53Speaker 1: Mark every day. I text him he must say this
- 5:56Speaker 1: guy's a pain in my neck. I text Mark during
- 5:58Speaker 1: the show. I love him so much, but I'm sorry.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Please continue more.
- 6:01Speaker 4: Go ahead, Oh yeah, well, thank you. My question is
- 6:05Speaker 4: about John thou. I don't understand why this is rigging out?
- 6:10Speaker 4: Could somebody fire him? Or the other thing I've heard
- 6:14Speaker 4: is that unique five senators to put something up a
- 6:17Speaker 4: bill or whatever to get rid of him. Why is
- 6:20Speaker 4: this going on so long he has the power over
- 6:24Speaker 4: like this?
- 6:25Speaker 1: Yeah, it's you know the thing. And John Thune, who
- 6:27Speaker 1: is the he's the head of the Senate, the Republican
- 6:30Speaker 1: in charge, if you will, and yeah, there you know
- 6:32Speaker 1: what Thune. Everybody who seems to take office in either
- 6:36Speaker 1: the House or the Senate and becomes in charge, everyone
- 6:38Speaker 1: then starts to say why aren't they doing this? And
- 6:40Speaker 1: why aren't they doing that? And apparently so much of
- 6:43Speaker 1: it is because it's all about wheeling and dealing, and
- 6:47Speaker 1: if you don't have enough senators backing what you want,
- 6:50Speaker 1: you can't put your neck out and go on the
- 6:52Speaker 1: floor and bring something on the floor because if you're
- 6:54Speaker 1: going to lose, you lose credibility. And that's that's really
- 6:57Speaker 1: what it comes down to, Maria. But I appreciate the call,
- 6:59Speaker 1: and I understand what you're saying. But you know, knowing
- 7:02Speaker 1: people who've been Congress members, and they've told me that
- 7:04Speaker 1: that's why what seems to be obvious for us, why
- 7:06Speaker 1: don't they just bring it for a vote. It's because
- 7:08Speaker 1: they know they don't have the support at that moment,
- 7:10Speaker 1: and there are one thousand and one reasons why at
- 7:12Speaker 1: that moment they don't have support. So we'll see. We're
- 7:16Speaker 1: going to have a kind of kind of a weekend
- 7:18Speaker 1: in terms of weather, but again, it's not about the weather.
- 7:20Speaker 1: It's about remembering those who died for us. But seven
- 7:23Speaker 1: ten WOR is the voice of New York. Phone lines
- 7:26Speaker 1: are still open eight hundred and three to two one zero,
- 7:28Speaker 1: seven ten, and we are going to have lots more
- 7:30Speaker 1: coming up, so don't go away. You're listening to seven
- 7:33Speaker 1: ten WR Now the News with Daria Albinger. Good morning, Ken,
- 7:37Speaker 1: nice to have you here today.
- 7:39Speaker 2: I'm sorry
