- 0:38Speaker 2: and then I get nervous, like, oh am I doing this?
- 0:39Speaker 3: Scott doing it?
- 0:42Speaker 4: I never Yeah, I've got too many buttons, Dad, So
- 0:46Speaker 4: I don't do it.
- 0:48Speaker 1: Well, we'll switch off, Dan, We'll switch off.
- 0:51Speaker 3: Cool.
- 0:53Speaker 5: How you guys doing. We're full of wors today.
- 0:56Speaker 1: That's yeah, there's a there's a who's the guy in
- 0:59Speaker 1: the yellow?
- 1:01Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:04Speaker 1: Hey, it's good to see you, Dan.
- 1:05Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:08Speaker 2: Sorry, I think last week, Yeah, I was.
- 1:14Speaker 3: I was competing.
- 1:15Speaker 2: My son and I were competing in a karate tournament
- 1:18Speaker 2: up in Skinny.
- 1:20Speaker 3: It was his first, his first tournament.
- 1:22Speaker 2: And I am super proud of him.
- 1:27Speaker 3: He competed in uh in forms and sparring, and he
- 1:30Speaker 3: took second place in his division in both of those.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Oh wow graduations on the super.
- 1:37Speaker 2: Proud total total, total boost to his confidence. He was
- 1:45Speaker 2: he was strutting around like foghorn leghorn.
- 1:49Speaker 1: Right, there's no better feeling as a father.
- 1:54Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, now I also took second place division for sparring.
- 1:58Speaker 1: But gradulations, it's nice.
- 2:00Speaker 3: Yeah, it was about last week. It was it was awesome. Yeah,
- 2:05Speaker 3: it was great. So proud of that's great.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Glad to hear it.
- 2:09Speaker 2: That's that's that's what I So if you thought you
- 2:13Speaker 2: were going to make me feel guilty about not being.
- 2:15Speaker 1: Here, not at all all. Sometimes I can't make it.
- 2:21Speaker 1: We all we all cover for each other. So it's
- 2:23Speaker 1: a good all good. Oh man. So yeah, so I've
- 2:29Speaker 1: had a pretty crazy, crazy three weeks. So my mom
- 2:35Speaker 1: just got out of the hospital. She she went in
- 2:38Speaker 1: for some minor surgery, like a minor emergency surgery, like
- 2:42Speaker 1: three weeks ago. Went home. The next day, she was
- 2:46Speaker 1: still in pain, went back to the e R. And
- 2:48Speaker 1: then she just long story short, she ended up in
- 2:50Speaker 1: the hospital for like two weeks and and then she
- 2:53Speaker 1: got transferred to a like a rehab facility an hour away.
- 2:57Speaker 1: And but now she's home. We brought her home on Friday.
- 3:00Speaker 1: She's doing real, real good. So everything's everything's good. But yeah,
- 3:04Speaker 1: for like three weeks, like a little minor overnight surgery
- 3:07Speaker 1: turned into like a three week ordeal. And sometimes it happens,
- 3:10Speaker 1: but she's doing really well. She wanted me to say
- 3:12Speaker 1: hi to everybody. You know. Good. So so yeah, just
- 3:16Speaker 1: doing better my mom.
- 3:20Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 3:23Speaker 1: How about how about you, Daniel? How's your well?
- 3:27Speaker 5: I mean I told you guys, I hadn't mentioned it
- 3:29Speaker 5: on the show.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Do you win any karate tournaments or.
- 3:33Speaker 5: No?
- 3:34Speaker 1: No?
- 3:34Speaker 5: Okay, no, no, no, Kate, I won what.
- 3:41Speaker 3: I said you, He won everyone that he entered.
- 3:44Speaker 1: That's right, that's right.
- 3:47Speaker 4: Yeah, no, we we had a situation with my dad.
- 3:51Speaker 4: It had been going on for a little while. I
- 3:53Speaker 4: I had not really gotten into it on the show
- 3:56Speaker 4: at all, but there was concern for a possible brain tumor,
- 4:03Speaker 4: but it ended up that there was nothing, and he's
- 4:06Speaker 4: just uh, he's just seventy and losing his earring.
- 4:10Speaker 1: So I'll call that a win.
- 4:14Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 4:15Speaker 4: Basically he's worked in machine shops his whole life and
- 4:18Speaker 4: so and I think it's total after a while, So
- 4:21Speaker 4: there you go. Yeah, but apparently hearing aids are an option,
- 4:24Speaker 4: so not too bad.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Okay, but yeah, those are two very distinct paths in
- 4:30Speaker 1: that fork.
- 4:31Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, right right, I'll think.
- 4:33Speaker 1: I'll take the one he went out any day.
- 4:35Speaker 4: Yeah, no kidding, Yeah, but apparently that that kind of
- 4:39Speaker 4: hearing loss, it's possible that it's a tumor, and so
- 4:42Speaker 4: they had to check and.
- 4:43Speaker 1: So okay, yeah yeah, So how long was the wait
- 4:47Speaker 1: between the test and the confirmation?
- 4:52Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 4:52Speaker 3: I don't think guys can hear me.
- 4:54Speaker 5: He keeps cutting out on you.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Man, we heard you just now?
- 4:58Speaker 2: Yeah say hearing any technology has come so far in
- 5:02Speaker 2: the last Yeah, it's there. There's so they have so
- 5:06Speaker 2: many guy guy at work, I mean his arepaarent to
- 5:10Speaker 2: his phone.
- 5:11Speaker 3: When his phone rings, nobody hears it. But he has
- 5:13Speaker 3: an entire conversation.
- 5:15Speaker 2: I thought he had like a multiple personality disportter or
- 5:18Speaker 2: something for a while and he's like, no, I'm just I'm.
- 5:20Speaker 3: On the phone.
- 5:22Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, well who He just became a truck driver,
- 5:27Speaker 1: and I, you know, I've been driving truck for a
- 5:29Speaker 1: while and I started recommending all these you know, the
- 5:31Speaker 1: Blue Parrot brand like headsets and had big giants. I
- 5:34Speaker 1: mean they're just as big as these. But now he's like, no,
- 5:37Speaker 1: I'm talking to you right now through my uh my
- 5:39Speaker 1: hearing aide. I'm like, oh, okay, I heard player's a bell,
- 5:44Speaker 1: just like talking to like a two hundred dollars headset.
- 5:47Speaker 4: So yeah, yeah, and apparently there's different types too, and
- 5:50Speaker 4: how they help you here, So I don't know. I
- 5:56Speaker 4: will find out as but he's got an appointment coming up.
- 5:59Speaker 5: So yeah, it's good. It's good.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Yeah, good, good on, good on. Daniel's dead.
- 6:04Speaker 4: Yeah, absolutely mad, it's uh, it makes far more sense
- 6:08Speaker 4: than the Paramount merger.
- 6:08Speaker 5: I'll tell you that.
- 6:13Speaker 1: We have Paramount news today too.
- 6:15Speaker 4: No god, no, yeah, no, no. I looked into that
- 6:22Speaker 4: and it's just a it's just a goddamn nightmare. There's
- 6:30Speaker 4: like multiple lawsuits, there's yeah, it's just good.
- 6:37Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, but uh whatever, So we should probably get
- 6:41Speaker 5: to the Star Trek news.
- 6:42Speaker 1: I guess let's do it, all right.
- 6:50Speaker 4: So our first news story comes to us today from
- 6:54Speaker 4: I believe this is I film, Yeah, slash film, and
- 6:58Speaker 4: we're kind of getting a room view our first review
- 7:01Speaker 4: that I've seen of the Universal fan fest nights that
- 7:04Speaker 4: are going on. This is the big Star Trek display
- 7:09Speaker 4: at Universal Studios in Hollywood. They've got a little they've
- 7:14Speaker 4: got the Bridge of the Enterprise d I believe, they've
- 7:17Speaker 4: got all sorts of different like Star Trek theme foods
- 7:20Speaker 4: you can try. They got a few other displays and
- 7:23Speaker 4: things to show off. This is very much in conjunction
- 7:26Speaker 4: to like what they do in Halloween, the horror film.
- 7:30Speaker 5: Nights that they do there.
- 7:32Speaker 4: I don't know if you've ever seen those giant, elaborate
- 7:35Speaker 4: haunted houses based on different horror themes. So now they're
- 7:39Speaker 4: trying to do this some more and do it with
- 7:42Speaker 4: other franchises.
- 7:43Speaker 2: They've had Ghostbuster Nights, I went back to the Future nights.
- 7:47Speaker 4: Yeah, yes, so now they're doing Star Trek.
- 7:52Speaker 5: It's start treking a few other properties.
- 7:54Speaker 1: Yeah. That background of that picture actually looks like the
- 7:56Speaker 1: clock tower.
- 7:58Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, the picture.
- 8:02Speaker 4: But so I was reading the reviews and they're not
- 8:07Speaker 4: the best, so really yeah, basically this is a really
- 8:14Speaker 4: long article, but basically what they're saying is there is
- 8:19Speaker 4: a Star Trek red alert.
- 8:21Speaker 5: It's not really a riot. It's more of an experience.
- 8:25Speaker 4: You come onto the bridge of the Enterprise, the Enterprise
- 8:27Speaker 4: is being attacked, and you kind of go through this
- 8:30Speaker 4: experience of what it's like being attacked and going through that.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Right.
- 8:36Speaker 5: Yeah, so it it looked.
- 8:38Speaker 1: More like the Star Trek experience minus the motion ride.
- 8:42Speaker 5: Yeah, so.
- 8:45Speaker 4: That whole event apparently is it's very cumbersome. They have
- 8:51Speaker 4: actors on, you know there during the event who have
- 8:55Speaker 4: to repeat their lines every you know, ten minutes to
- 8:58Speaker 4: go when they're getting groups through it, and it just
- 9:01Speaker 4: it seems awkward.
- 9:02Speaker 5: Apparently.
- 9:03Speaker 4: Uh there's also a dudgeon and dragons area. But yeah,
- 9:08Speaker 4: so basically people were saying like, it's fun to go,
- 9:11Speaker 4: but it's it's.
- 9:12Speaker 5: Not as great as the Hollywood horror nights.
- 9:15Speaker 1: So I would just be thrilled to be on the
- 9:18Speaker 1: Enterprise d Bridge. I wish that could be there.
- 9:22Speaker 3: Star Trek the experience. That's a tough actor.
- 9:27Speaker 1: Yeah aol.
- 9:29Speaker 5: So it's some kind of Star Trek experience.
- 9:36Speaker 3: Anything but that they do until the end of time.
- 9:39Speaker 2: That's the barometer. That's what they're gonna that's what they're
- 9:41Speaker 2: gonna rit to.
- 9:42Speaker 5: Right And.
- 9:45Speaker 3: You know, it was it was the bridge, it was
- 9:47Speaker 3: a shuttle ride.
- 9:48Speaker 2: It was it was the turbo lift, it was the
- 9:52Speaker 2: shuttle bay, it was the transporter, it was a shuttle ride,
- 9:55Speaker 2: it was you docked at Deep Space nine. Then there
- 9:58Speaker 2: was another Voyagers them dried five years later. I mean,
- 10:04Speaker 2: you know, it's a tough act to follow.
- 10:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 10:08Speaker 2: Yeah, yet a themed restaurant, your characters walking around all
- 10:11Speaker 2: day long. You had the biggest Star Trek gift shop
- 10:14Speaker 2: ever that now the uniforms that the actors are were
- 10:20Speaker 2: and you could go in the gift shop and buy one.
- 10:22Speaker 2: I mean that's a tough act to find. Oh, it
- 10:24Speaker 2: doesn't matter what they do. I don't think it's ever
- 10:26Speaker 2: going to.
- 10:26Speaker 4: Measure up right right, and and that's that's part of
- 10:30Speaker 4: the problem. So it's also their first year doing this,
- 10:33Speaker 4: so there's gonna be bugs to work out and how
- 10:36Speaker 4: to make it more elaborate. I mean, the Horror Knights
- 10:38Speaker 4: have been going on for years and years and years,
- 10:40Speaker 4: so they've got a down pat and they know how
- 10:42Speaker 4: to make that presentable.
- 10:43Speaker 5: So it's just it's just, you know, it takes time.
- 10:47Speaker 4: So but yeah, overall it is enjoyable, but it's not
- 10:51Speaker 4: as great as compared to the Hollowood horror nights.
- 10:54Speaker 5: So take that with what you Willeah.
- 10:57Speaker 1: Hmm, yeah interesting. Yeah, STI wouldn't mind doing it.
- 11:01Speaker 5: Yeah, I would do. I would love to go.
- 11:05Speaker 4: Our next new story comes to us from trekmovie dot
- 11:07Speaker 4: com and say it is in Stow. But Star Trek
- 11:11Speaker 4: Discovery was denied a two hour finale movie. According to
- 11:16Speaker 4: sneple Martin Green, I know, Dan, I'm sorry. You almost
- 11:20Speaker 4: got another two hours of discovery. Apparently they had been
- 11:24Speaker 4: planning that, and then it was announced that they were
- 11:27Speaker 4: going to wrap up the series, and so instead of
- 11:29Speaker 4: a two hour movie, they gave him about sixteen minutes
- 11:32Speaker 4: towards the end, and that's why we got that big
- 11:34Speaker 4: event or little coda at the end where we see
- 11:38Speaker 4: what's going on in the future.
- 11:40Speaker 1: Hey, Dan, don't it's not too late.
- 11:44Speaker 2: You know, I don't think I'm gonna surprise anybody in
- 11:49Speaker 2: expressing that I don't care.
- 11:53Speaker 1: What this is what we can look forward to when
- 11:56Speaker 1: you're in your you know, sixties and seventies, our Trek Burnham.
- 12:03Speaker 5: That's right, that's right.
- 12:05Speaker 1: You know it'll work out for.
- 12:09Speaker 4: Oh no, anyways, Yeah, so that's that's what I tellt
- 12:16Speaker 4: you guys would feel about it.
- 12:18Speaker 1: But nobody cares.
- 12:20Speaker 5: Nobody cares. Yeah, it's fine.
- 12:23Speaker 4: And then our last news story comes to us from
- 12:26Speaker 4: Cinema Blend and I'm surprised I found this update, but
- 12:29Speaker 4: I thought I would like to share it with you guys.
- 12:32Speaker 4: And we're getting an update on the Orville season four.
- 12:36Speaker 4: What Yes, when we last left the Orville. We had
- 12:43Speaker 4: an update from uh Scott Grimes and he's said, what's
- 12:49Speaker 4: the name of his.
- 12:50Speaker 5: Character, Malone or he's the redheaded guy.
- 12:56Speaker 1: Malloy.
- 12:58Speaker 4: So his update and this was like back in what
- 13:01Speaker 4: October something like that, that they were gonna get do
- 13:05Speaker 4: a season four and production would begin in twenty twenty five. Well,
- 13:09Speaker 4: we're five months into twenty twenty five and we have
- 13:12Speaker 4: not heard about production, so what's going on. Well at
- 13:15Speaker 4: a convention, they talked to Andrea Blecki and they asked her, Hey,
- 13:22Speaker 4: what's going on with this?
- 13:23Speaker 5: Are we doing season four or not?
- 13:26Speaker 4: And she said the chances are very very slim. That
- 13:31Speaker 4: conversations were ongoing last year and then there was the strike,
- 13:35Speaker 4: and that during the strike, Seth had called her, Seth
- 13:39Speaker 4: Seth MacFarlane asking her if she was interested in doing
- 13:42Speaker 4: the season four She said yes, But after that, after
- 13:46Speaker 4: the strike got settled and everything went away, she really
- 13:50Speaker 4: hasn't heard much and she doesn't think it's going to happen.
- 13:55Speaker 4: So that's where we're at with it right now.
- 14:01Speaker 1: Wow, you know, it's all about the money. Follow the money.
- 14:06Speaker 2: There was the point I don't think the amount of
- 14:08Speaker 2: time that passes as important anymore. There was time, there
- 14:16Speaker 2: was a time where we thought we would never see
- 14:18Speaker 2: Jean Lou Picard ever again.
- 14:20Speaker 3: And we got three seasons, right, No.
- 14:24Speaker 5: We had one season, one season.
- 14:27Speaker 3: That's true, that's true.
- 14:29Speaker 5: Season three yeah, yeah, the one season, Yeah, we had one. Yeah.
- 14:40Speaker 4: But yeah, so that was that was disappointing to me.
- 14:43Speaker 4: That doesn't look like season four is gonna happen. So,
- 14:49Speaker 4: but you're right, Dan, you know, things change. I mean,
- 14:52Speaker 4: it's three years in between Strange New Worlds last season
- 14:55Speaker 4: and the next one.
- 14:57Speaker 1: So that's a weird time jump too, Like, yeah, I
- 15:02Speaker 1: mean I think back in the day, one of the
- 15:05Speaker 1: reasons why a lot of time was a bad was
- 15:08Speaker 1: because you know, they would strike the sets and it
- 15:10Speaker 1: would cost so much to you know, the more time
- 15:12Speaker 1: went by, the more these sets were gone, and they'd
- 15:15Speaker 1: have to completely rebuild all these sets. But with a
- 15:18Speaker 1: lot of the digital stuff that they do, and you know,
- 15:20Speaker 1: like the way they film the Mandalorian, it's all against
- 15:22Speaker 1: a giant you know, panoramic screen and you know, so
- 15:26Speaker 1: I think it's a lot cheaper to to kind of
- 15:29Speaker 1: restart these things than it was in the years past, right, right,
- 15:32Speaker 1: I think you know, maybe some day. Maybe they'll do
- 15:34Speaker 1: a two hour movie. Maybe they'll do another season. Maybe
- 15:36Speaker 1: they'll completely revamp it. You know, maybe they'll take a
- 15:39Speaker 1: page out of Star Trek book and do like, you know,
- 15:42Speaker 1: the Orville, the next generation or the own generation or
- 15:46Speaker 1: the generation after next.
- 15:48Speaker 5: You know, I want I want the Orville Deep Space nine.
- 15:53Speaker 1: I mean, if anybody could do it, Seth McFarlane could
- 15:55Speaker 1: do it.
- 15:55Speaker 5: I mean, it would be Deep Space sixty nine.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Yeah, Phase sixty nine, and it'd be the giant butthole
- 16:04Speaker 1: in space that they right travel through. So, Scott, they
- 16:09Speaker 1: call it the orifice.
- 16:11Speaker 5: Scott, your mom is watching.
- 16:14Speaker 1: So okay, my mom says, sorry, my mom accidentally uh
- 16:18Speaker 1: said happy birthday to somebody that she meant to text
- 16:19Speaker 1: that she actually did it on the track cast channel.
- 16:24Speaker 1: It's okay, Bob, It's okay. We all love you. Nobody's mad.
- 16:28Speaker 4: Happy birthday, Gloria's Happy birthday, Gloria.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Yes, can you guys think of a more mom thing
- 16:39Speaker 1: to do? James Captain, there's something coming through the orifice
- 16:50Speaker 1: on screen?
- 16:51Speaker 4: Oh no, no, oh, all right, should we get.
- 17:00Speaker 1: To let me to the office. It's the sphincter rights.
- 17:04Speaker 5: Oh God, talk about lingons.
- 17:07Speaker 1: Uh, oh boy, prepare the preparation.
- 17:13Speaker 5: H oh god. All right, let's get to the main topic.
- 17:19Speaker 6: Fine, will now come out.
- 17:25Speaker 1: Well, I'm I'm gonna turn the show to a giant
- 17:29Speaker 1: Austin Powers movie.
- 17:31Speaker 5: There you are.
- 17:33Speaker 4: So our main topic is we're continuing our our march
- 17:37Speaker 4: through the TS films, and we've arrived at number four,
- 17:42Speaker 4: The Voyage Home, a ka the one with the whales,
- 17:46Speaker 4: one of the good ones.
- 17:47Speaker 5: That's why dance here.
- 17:48Speaker 1: Yep. Yeah, I'm gonna do my entire review. I'll uh
- 17:55Speaker 1: finding Nemo doing the voices of the whales.
- 17:59Speaker 5: Oh god.
- 18:00Speaker 1: For the rest of the show, I'm just gonna be
- 18:02Speaker 1: like really like this.
- 18:08Speaker 5: Oh god, No, don't do that.
- 18:11Speaker 1: I know that sounds a little species.
- 18:13Speaker 5: I would rather have the back lads return.
- 18:15Speaker 1: Okay, oh boy, where do we even begin? Oh my goodness?
- 18:21Speaker 5: Yeah, who wants to recap it? Do you want to
- 18:24Speaker 5: recap it?
- 18:25Speaker 1: Dan?
- 18:28Speaker 3: No?
- 18:30Speaker 1: Okay, so yeah, I can go ahead and recap it.
- 18:35Speaker 1: So we welcome back. Yeah, let's see Dad was here
- 18:45Speaker 1: for Star Trek two? Are you here for scar? Okay,
- 18:49Speaker 1: so we'll see you for the Undiscovered Country then, right, okay, okay,
- 18:54Speaker 1: so Star Trek for the voyage home.
- 18:58Speaker 5: Uh.
- 18:58Speaker 1: So we start off basically, we start off with this
- 19:01Speaker 1: giant probe coming towards Earth, sending off some bad signals
- 19:06Speaker 1: that are basically killing the power of everything it's coming across. So, uh,
- 19:11Speaker 1: starships and star bases Earth, they're all losing power at
- 19:17Speaker 1: the same time. We cut to Vulcan. The the crew
- 19:21Speaker 1: of the Enterprise, the former the Late Enterprise is on
- 19:24Speaker 1: Vulcan after they've taken the Katra out of doctor McCoy's
- 19:29Speaker 1: head and flung put it back in his Spock. So he's, uh,
- 19:35Speaker 1: Spock is sort of at the Vulcan. We're not exactly
- 19:39Speaker 1: sure where he's at. He's retraining his brain, so he's
- 19:43Speaker 1: you know, taking some tests and making sure.
- 19:46Speaker 6: He's doing all right. Yeah, cities, there's no it's like right.
- 19:57Speaker 1: Yeah, it's it's very vulcany.
- 19:59Speaker 5: Yeah, he's in the Vulcan.
- 20:01Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. So they've got the entire crew together, and
- 20:05Speaker 1: you know, there's something I noticed when when Captain Kirk
- 20:10Speaker 1: is walking down the line and he's just like talking
- 20:13Speaker 1: to each person. He's like, you know, doctor McCoy, I sir,
- 20:16Speaker 1: you know, Commander of Horror, I sir, I didn't I'm like,
- 20:19Speaker 1: what is he taking roll call? It didn't It didn't
- 20:22Speaker 1: strike me until last night. He's taken a vote realize
- 20:26Speaker 1: that until I watched it today. I'm like, oh, he's
- 20:29Speaker 1: taken a vote, I, sir, means I vote to go
- 20:33Speaker 1: back to Earth and face the music, to face the
- 20:35Speaker 1: court martial. So they've got the Klingon ship. They've spent
- 20:38Speaker 1: some time revamping it, repairing it, uh, changing out the
- 20:42Speaker 1: uh the the gach dispensers for you know, pizza and
- 20:46Speaker 1: ice cream, and they are going to uh get on
- 20:50Speaker 1: on on the Klingon voat and head back to Earth
- 20:53Speaker 1: minus Savog. And there's a little interesting deleted scene where
- 20:58Speaker 1: Savag stays back on Vulcan mhm. And the reason why
- 21:01Speaker 1: Savig stays backgound Balkan is because she is pregnant with
- 21:05Speaker 1: fox child. So that is always gonna be in my
- 21:08Speaker 1: head Can, and it wasn't shown on screen. So the
- 21:10Speaker 1: what six of them?
- 21:12Speaker 5: Uh?
- 21:13Speaker 1: Yeah, Chaz busy right, I hear popping sound too.
- 21:16Speaker 5: Yeah I do too.
- 21:18Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, I hear it too. I thought it was
- 21:19Speaker 3: just my phone.
- 21:21Speaker 1: Okay, I'm gonna try muting myself and see if that
- 21:24Speaker 1: makes it go away.
- 21:27Speaker 3: Check check check check check.
- 21:29Speaker 5: Yeah, I'm here.
- 21:31Speaker 1: I hate check tag.
- 21:33Speaker 3: Oh yeah, maybe it's Scott, Yeah it might be.
- 21:40Speaker 5: Is your cord loose? Maybe?
- 21:42Speaker 1: No, I don't think. So it's good. Huh.
- 21:46Speaker 5: Okay, all right, well let's keep going.
- 21:49Speaker 1: We'll keep going. So yeah, I'm gonna try to resetting
- 21:55Speaker 1: my sound.
- 21:56Speaker 5: Okay, that sounds good, all right.
- 22:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:01Speaker 4: So they're on Vulcan and uh, they're loading up the
- 22:05Speaker 4: ship and they're getting ready to go face the music
- 22:08Speaker 4: with the Federation. I do you remember watching the movie
- 22:12Speaker 4: and thinking that those Vulcan hats look like the Smurfs?
- 22:16Speaker 2: Yep, yeah, I don't think because I hear I hear
- 22:19Speaker 2: the crackling when you're talk talking now too.
- 22:23Speaker 5: Oh that's what I wonder if.
- 22:27Speaker 4: And I'm all plugged in and I'm on a landline mark,
- 22:34Speaker 4: I don't know when.
- 22:37Speaker 3: He comes back, I'll I'll drop out and reset. That's me.
- 22:42Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 22:44Speaker 4: So okay, So they're they're loading up the ship, they're
- 22:47Speaker 4: getting ready to go, and as they're on their way,
- 22:51Speaker 4: they get word that that probe is just destroying everything.
- 22:55Speaker 5: This probe is and uh, here he goes there is Okay.
- 23:02Speaker 4: Okay, So we were at we were at the probe
- 23:06Speaker 4: is on its way to Earth. They've lived a ship
- 23:10Speaker 4: and they're on their way. We think it might be Dan.
- 23:14Speaker 1: Oh okay, because it was doing it while I was gone.
- 23:17Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, okay, Yeah, good, at least it's not me.
- 23:23Speaker 4: Well, we'll try Dan and then and then uh he
- 23:26Speaker 4: oh he already I think he already left because he froze. Okay,
- 23:31Speaker 4: so yeah, yeah, because if I go away, the whole
- 23:33Speaker 4: thing goes.
- 23:35Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 23:36Speaker 1: Yeah, we don't want that. Yeah, don't worry everybody. We'll
- 23:39Speaker 1: get this right one of these days.
- 23:41Speaker 5: One of these days, one of these days.
- 23:43Speaker 1: So where were we?
- 23:44Speaker 5: So they were on their way.
- 23:48Speaker 4: As we keep saying, they're on their way to Earth,
- 23:50Speaker 4: it took a while to get there, that's why you
- 23:52Speaker 4: keep saying it. And the probe is it's not that
- 23:56Speaker 4: it's attacking, but it's sending out a signal and nobody
- 23:59Speaker 4: in understands it. Nobody understands what that signal is. It's
- 24:03Speaker 4: just this loud noise and and they're trying to figure
- 24:07Speaker 4: it out. It ends up that the signal is humpback
- 24:13Speaker 4: whale sounds. I can't how did Kirk figure that out?
- 24:18Speaker 1: So they Stock was the one that suggested hey, it
- 24:22Speaker 1: might it was. The President said it was directed to
- 24:24Speaker 1: Earth's oceans, and that gave him an idea, maybe it's
- 24:27Speaker 1: not meant maybe it's meant for a creature in the sea,
- 24:31Speaker 1: and him exploring the Federation database, which there is a
- 24:35Speaker 1: Federation database on board because they said that the Klingon
- 24:40Speaker 1: ship will work with the Federation computer. Okay, so they've
- 24:43Speaker 1: got a Federation database on board, and they they just
- 24:47Speaker 1: matched the sound. Ahura does some trickery and magic with
- 24:51Speaker 1: the sound. Just see what that sound would sound like underwater,
- 24:55Speaker 1: and then they were able to match that sound with
- 24:57Speaker 1: the humpback whales and they're like, oh, right here it
- 24:59Speaker 1: is okay. So yeah, there was a lot of leaps
- 25:03Speaker 1: like yeah, okay, where what does a sound? What? Okay,
- 25:07Speaker 1: it's hump back. Where can we get hump back? They're extinct?
- 25:09Speaker 1: Does it exist on any other planet?
- 25:11Speaker 7: No?
- 25:12Speaker 1: Uh, well you know, can we can we imitate the sound?
- 25:16Speaker 1: And Spock's like, well, the sounds, but not the language.
- 25:20Speaker 1: We were responding in gibberish. So Kirk's like, oh, I
- 25:24Speaker 1: got it. We'll just go back in time, grab a
- 25:26Speaker 1: couple of humpback whales and go forward in time and
- 25:30Speaker 1: problem solved.
- 25:33Speaker 5: How casual he is about that, like time travel, It's.
- 25:36Speaker 1: Fine, just get time travel. So one of the things
- 25:41Speaker 1: before we move on is one of the things that
- 25:43Speaker 1: the studio did is after the success of Star Trek
- 25:48Speaker 1: two and three. Uh, they basically went to Leonard Nimoy
- 25:52Speaker 1: and said, you can do whatever you want. You're the director,
- 25:55Speaker 1: you're in charge. Whatever vision you want for Star Trek
- 25:58Speaker 1: you can have. However, write a script that's right. That
- 26:03Speaker 1: he They basically gave him free reign. Yeah, they were
- 26:06Speaker 1: he was the golden child. So he said, okay, Uh.
- 26:10Speaker 1: He didn't want He wanted to do something different. Okay,
- 26:13Speaker 1: there's typical villains. We had crude last movie. We had
- 26:16Speaker 1: conn of the movie before that. He said, Number one,
- 26:19Speaker 1: I don't want a regular villain. I I don't want
- 26:22Speaker 1: a regular antagonist. I don't want any explosions. I don't
- 26:27Speaker 1: want any phasers. I don't want anybody dying. I don't
- 26:30Speaker 1: want anybody getting seriously hurt. They they made a exception
- 26:33Speaker 1: with the whole checkof storyline. He said, I just want
- 26:35Speaker 1: to tell a different kind of story. Yeah, And that's
- 26:39Speaker 1: how they came up with and at the time Lennon
- 26:42Speaker 1: Nimoy was sort of into ecology and he had just
- 26:45Speaker 1: read a some sort of environmental book and and so
- 26:48Speaker 1: he's like, Okay, let's let's literally save the whales. Yeah,
- 26:54Speaker 1: so that's what he did.
- 26:55Speaker 5: I mean, that was big in the eighties.
- 26:57Speaker 4: So well, sure, sure, yeah, yeah, of course, yeah yea.
- 27:01Speaker 2: So well, it was also the influence from Paramount that
- 27:07Speaker 2: they wanted Eddie Murphy to be in this movie. He
- 27:10Speaker 2: was signed off for a multi picture deal with at
- 27:12Speaker 2: the time. They wanted to put their two big franchises together,
- 27:16Speaker 2: Eddie Murphy and Star Trek.
- 27:18Speaker 3: In order to do that.
- 27:19Speaker 2: I think that's where time travel comes in in that
- 27:22Speaker 2: nobody nobody wants to see in the nineteen eighties, Nobody
- 27:25Speaker 2: wanted to see Eddie Murphy in a Starfleet uniform. They
- 27:28Speaker 2: wanted to see Eddie Murphy being Eddie Murphy in nineteen
- 27:31Speaker 2: eighty six doing Eddie Murphy.
- 27:33Speaker 1: Thanks right, right right.
- 27:36Speaker 5: God, could you imagine if we had Star Trek Beverly Hills.
- 27:38Speaker 1: Cop Okay, that would be.
- 27:43Speaker 4: Because all you gotta do is like, oh, the whales
- 27:45Speaker 4: are in LA and now you're in Beverly Hills.
- 27:48Speaker 5: You know.
- 27:49Speaker 1: Yeah, that'd be a collect It'd be groovy. Yes, it'd
- 27:56Speaker 1: be bad.
- 27:57Speaker 5: It would be very bad.
- 27:58Speaker 1: Yes, it'd be bad.
- 28:03Speaker 5: Oh, bad meaning good?
- 28:04Speaker 1: Yes, yeah, bad meaning good. It'd be Michael Jackson bad.
- 28:07Speaker 5: That's right, that's right.
- 28:10Speaker 4: Although then we would have got Bronton Pinchot in Star Trek,
- 28:14Speaker 4: which would have been awesome. Gotten what Bronson Pinchot?
- 28:20Speaker 1: I don't know how it is Balki Oh okay, okay, okay, yeah, jeez,
- 28:28Speaker 1: all right, all right, so where where were we were?
- 28:31Speaker 1: They they get the distress call from the Federation President,
- 28:36Speaker 1: They analyze the signal, they figure it out it's Wales.
- 28:38Speaker 1: I gotta go back in time. So then they make
- 28:41Speaker 1: the computation. I love, first of all, I love uh
- 28:45Speaker 1: DeForest Kelly his entire performance in this entire movie.
- 28:49Speaker 5: Yeah. Oh he was loving it.
- 28:52Speaker 1: Man.
- 28:52Speaker 5: He was cheating up, showing up that scenery left and right.
- 28:57Speaker 2: Can we just acknowledge the ridiculousness of the president sending
- 29:00Speaker 2: out a distress call. That's like, that's like Donald Trump
- 29:05Speaker 2: getting getting on the on the on the TV and saying, I'm.
- 29:08Speaker 3: Calling the navy.
- 29:09Speaker 2: I'm letting the Navy know, don't come towards the United
- 29:12Speaker 2: States is a big thing.
- 29:14Speaker 3: It's ruining all the ships save yourself.
- 29:19Speaker 1: I I thought it was very vulnerable of him, like,
- 29:22Speaker 1: you know, we're under attack and we're you know, well
- 29:26Speaker 1: we're vulnerable.
- 29:28Speaker 5: That's how you know, it's the future.
- 29:32Speaker 3: Government stuff.
- 29:33Speaker 2: It's it's like like this this hearing at the at
- 29:35Speaker 2: the with the with the the Klingon ambassador.
- 29:39Speaker 3: I mean, what was that is that? Congress?
- 29:43Speaker 1: I don't know, you know, And and I can't imagine
- 29:47Speaker 1: the Klingon's had a lake to stand on legally, like.
- 29:52Speaker 3: But it's okay.
- 29:53Speaker 2: So you know, I always look at this stuff and
- 29:55Speaker 2: I think of I think of the United States as
- 29:58Speaker 2: like the Federation and and the Soviets are the Russians,
- 30:01Speaker 2: and you know, yeah, so this is again, this is
- 30:06Speaker 2: like Donald Trump standing at the podium during a joint
- 30:11Speaker 2: session of Congress while the Russian ambassador to the United
- 30:15Speaker 2: Nations is standing there giving him ship. And then he's
- 30:19Speaker 2: got a PowerPoint presentation behind him with footage from a
- 30:24Speaker 2: VHS copy of Star Trek.
- 30:26Speaker 5: Three right right right?
- 30:28Speaker 3: What's happening here? What is this?
- 30:30Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 30:31Speaker 1: I was wondering where they got the I mean, I
- 30:33Speaker 1: guess you could play it off like it came from
- 30:34Speaker 1: the censors. Of the Klingon Bird of Prey. But where
- 30:39Speaker 1: did the footage from inside the bridge come from?
- 30:42Speaker 3: Right?
- 30:43Speaker 2: Like that would actually that I would actually buy that's
- 30:47Speaker 2: from the black box?
- 30:48Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, all right, but yeah it goes from very
- 30:52Speaker 1: grainy footage to super HD real quick.
- 30:55Speaker 4: Yeah, it's almost like it was filmed.
- 30:59Speaker 1: It's almost like was filled. The cinematography of the computer
- 31:02Speaker 1: that takes the black box images is fantastic. Yes, yes, absolutely,
- 31:08Speaker 1: they called the JJ algorithm.
- 31:12Speaker 2: That same body of people is president at the end
- 31:15Speaker 2: of the movie, except now it's a criminal court because
- 31:18Speaker 2: they're asking them how they play.
- 31:21Speaker 1: What right? And the Federation president presides over that. I guess,
- 31:30Speaker 1: I guess, so, I guess he wears multiple hats.
- 31:33Speaker 5: That's right.
- 31:34Speaker 1: That it should have been the you know, the judge
- 31:36Speaker 1: advacy general for the for star Fleet. But I don't
- 31:40Speaker 1: think they had a lot of military advisors back then.
- 31:42Speaker 5: No, No, it's the same room they had Tyler Berry.
- 31:46Speaker 5: And in the two thousand and nine film, that.
- 31:51Speaker 2: Whole thing was ridiculous too. He's he's the he's not
- 31:54Speaker 2: the head of Starfleet, he's the chancellor of the academy.
- 31:57Speaker 2: And suddenly he's dispatching people the ships and giving quarters
- 32:03Speaker 2: on mobilizing.
- 32:04Speaker 1: Uh yeah, it doesn't make any sense speaking of things
- 32:08Speaker 1: that don't make sense, Like I said before.
- 32:10Speaker 8: Uh.
- 32:11Speaker 1: Leonard McCoy is the voice of aggravated reason in this
- 32:16Speaker 1: entire movie. He's like, just wait a second, you're telling
- 32:19Speaker 1: me you want to go back in time to get
- 32:22Speaker 1: a couple of humpback whales, go forward in time and
- 32:26Speaker 1: deposit them in the ocean and hope that these whales
- 32:28Speaker 1: tell this prob what to go do with itself. And
- 32:30Speaker 1: Kirk's like yeah, And then McCoy's tells him the exact
- 32:34Speaker 1: same thing that we're all thinking, well, that's crazy. Yeah, yeah,
- 32:39Speaker 1: And Kirk tell this probe what the hell to do
- 32:41Speaker 1: with itself? What?
- 32:42Speaker 8: What?
- 32:43Speaker 1: What are the odds? Yeah, He's like, just wait a
- 32:47Speaker 1: damn minute. And Kirk's like, yeah, don't worry about it.
- 32:51Speaker 5: It's gonna be easy.
- 32:53Speaker 1: They'll tell we're gonna have program all. This is going
- 32:56Speaker 1: to be the guy that just got back at his feet.
- 32:59Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 33:01Speaker 1: Yeah. Kirk plays very fast and loose with the letting
- 33:05Speaker 1: crew members who just got out of the hospital do
- 33:08Speaker 1: their main job. DEAs pointed that out, like check off
- 33:11Speaker 1: just got brain surgery, twenty minutes later, he's like highloting
- 33:17Speaker 1: the bird of prey.
- 33:18Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, but it's stars, it's star Trek brain surgery.
- 33:21Speaker 3: It's not regular brain surgery.
- 33:22Speaker 1: Okay, you're right, you're right. Yeah, they used the little
- 33:25Speaker 1: little hit thing.
- 33:26Speaker 2: So now in the twenty four century, Starfleet has whales
- 33:32Speaker 2: serving in Starfleet. So yeah, my question is did that
- 33:38Speaker 2: come as a result of the events depicted in this movie.
- 33:42Speaker 2: Did they open up a recruitment drive to get some
- 33:46Speaker 2: whales in Starfleet in case something like this ever happens again,
- 33:50Speaker 2: or were there always whales.
- 33:53Speaker 3: In Starfleet in the in the twenty third century. Just
- 33:56Speaker 3: none of them spoke this dialect.
- 33:59Speaker 1: It was an affirmat of action cetacean drive from Starfleet. Okay,
- 34:04Speaker 1: they they wanted to get more, more whales, more singing
- 34:08Speaker 1: crew members that could communicate with probes. It probably was
- 34:11Speaker 1: a defensive thing. They they wanted to prevent the same
- 34:15Speaker 1: thing from happening again, So they had whales joined Starfleet
- 34:18Speaker 1: just in case, uh, super powerful probes decided to penetrate
- 34:22Speaker 1: their their anti probe penetration field. So you know, nobody,
- 34:30Speaker 1: nobody wants to be penetrated by h by whale probes,
- 34:33Speaker 1: especially by whalebes. Did you see the size of that thing?
- 34:37Speaker 1: That penetrating probe was huge? So let's let's move let's uh,
- 34:47Speaker 1: I've gotta I want to move on to the segment
- 34:49Speaker 1: that I'm calling let's do the time warp again? Yes,
- 34:54Speaker 1: what is it with time travel movies? And uh, the
- 34:59Speaker 1: visual We've got the smoky crew members, smoky water crew members,
- 35:07Speaker 1: and then we've got this weird dummy wrapped like plastic
- 35:12Speaker 1: dummy that they have diving into water. What the hell
- 35:15Speaker 1: was that? What were those visuals?
- 35:18Speaker 3: It was Leonard Moy's nineteen eighty six acid trip. That's
- 35:23Speaker 3: all that was.
- 35:24Speaker 1: That's exactly that had to have been, that had to be.
- 35:28Speaker 5: Were on this set had to have oh my gosh.
- 35:31Speaker 1: Totally totally. Uh so that was just a weird thing.
- 35:38Speaker 1: And then so so after the acid trip, uh, they
- 35:41Speaker 1: all wake up because going back in time obviously makes
- 35:45Speaker 1: you pass out, It makes you yea, makes you sleep.
- 35:48Speaker 1: And thank god that the bird of Prey just happened,
- 35:50Speaker 1: you know, the breaking thrusters. So the way they travel
- 35:53Speaker 1: it back in time is a slink shot around the
- 35:55Speaker 1: sun right at warp at warp nine.
- 36:00Speaker 2: Yeah, can we back up when they're can we just uh,
- 36:04Speaker 2: can we just acknowledge what a piece of ship this
- 36:07Speaker 2: Bird of Prey is that they're at warped four and
- 36:10Speaker 2: the things are already shaking.
- 36:11Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 36:12Speaker 3: H the n XO one, the n x O one
- 36:16Speaker 3: was the warped five was the first warp five ship
- 36:19Speaker 3: for Starfleet.
- 36:20Speaker 2: This is like one hundred years later, this cling on
- 36:22Speaker 2: Burn of Prey is going warp four and it's and
- 36:26Speaker 2: it's shaken, like like it's gonna fall apart.
- 36:29Speaker 3: What piece of junk?
- 36:30Speaker 1: It's all guns, no warp, but yet somehow it's able
- 36:34Speaker 1: to do warp nine around the Sun, which this I
- 36:37Speaker 1: think the stript force would destroy.
- 36:38Speaker 5: It because when the LDS kicked in.
- 36:44Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, so they do the time warp sling shot
- 36:48Speaker 1: around the Sun at warp nine points something that the
- 36:50Speaker 1: converter of Pray shouldn't be able to. Yeah, and they
- 36:53Speaker 1: shouldn't be able to at warp nine. I think, yeah,
- 36:57Speaker 1: they're going to ludicrous speed, and so they end up
- 37:00Speaker 1: in Funny enough, they end up in nineteen eighty six.
- 37:06Speaker 5: Earth would oddly enough, that's when this movie came out.
- 37:09Speaker 1: That's when this movie came out. Yeah, so that's Weirdeah,
- 37:13Speaker 1: that's a time travel thing that movies often do, so
- 37:17Speaker 1: they break it so they they've got a mission. Unfortunately,
- 37:21Speaker 1: during this trip, the di lithium crystals have lost their
- 37:26Speaker 1: their luster. They're no longer shining and powerful. They're liquefied
- 37:31Speaker 1: right there, they've lost well, Scotty says, they've lost all
- 37:36Speaker 1: their energy. But you know, as any true Star Trek
- 37:39Speaker 1: fan knows, dilating crystals don't have energy themselves. They're just
- 37:43Speaker 1: a way to facilitate the matter in anti matter.
- 37:45Speaker 5: I'm sorry, wait, any real sturderic fan knows.
- 37:48Speaker 1: This well, any real star Warning Warning NERD Alert.
- 37:53Speaker 5: NERD alert.
- 37:56Speaker 1: Well, you get enough power to operate the warp drive
- 38:00Speaker 1: is you have matter, matter and antimatter collide to UH
- 38:04Speaker 1: to make a powerful burst of energy. The only substance
- 38:08Speaker 1: known to the Federation that will contain this this matter
- 38:11Speaker 1: and antimatter is dilithium crystals. So dilatium crystals degrade over
- 38:16Speaker 1: time as they facilitate UH, the matter anti matter reaction.
- 38:23Speaker 3: I think it's di lithium crystals are laced with pretendium.
- 38:30Speaker 1: That's really yeah, that's right right, they got there, yep, yeapium. Yeah,
- 38:39Speaker 1: those are cling. Those are Klingon brain crystals. So anyways, yeah,
- 38:42Speaker 1: there's a problem, and there's no way to recrystallize the crystals,
- 38:45Speaker 1: at least not in the twenty third century. There's a
- 38:49Speaker 1: there's a there's a there's a twentieth century solution where
- 38:52Speaker 1: they can take the radioactive byproducts of a nuclear reaction
- 38:58Speaker 1: and if they if they if they take this byproduct
- 39:03Speaker 1: and they collect it, they can infuse it into the
- 39:05Speaker 1: crystals and that.
- 39:06Speaker 5: Will be er. You can fix your Kirkland crystals at
- 39:10Speaker 5: that point exactly.
- 39:11Speaker 3: So neither were photons, that's what they were getting. They
- 39:15Speaker 3: were basically, yeah, don't they have a compliment of photon
- 39:20Speaker 3: torpedoes in the basement.
- 39:21Speaker 1: They do. Yes, Yeah, you would think, you would think.
- 39:25Speaker 1: So they've got three problems they need to solve. Number one,
- 39:28Speaker 1: they need to find these protons and re energize the crystals.
- 39:32Speaker 1: Number two, they need to build find materials and build
- 39:36Speaker 1: a tank for the kling On bird of prey to
- 39:38Speaker 1: hold the whales. And number three, they need to find
- 39:40Speaker 1: the whales and get the whales. So they break up
- 39:43Speaker 1: into three teams.
- 39:44Speaker 5: Uh time out.
- 39:48Speaker 2: Okay, I once attended the tour at the Cetacean Institute
- 39:56Speaker 2: in Saclito. Okay, you know I know, oh, for a fact,
- 40:01Speaker 2: doctor Gillian Taylor told me so, I know for a
- 40:04Speaker 2: fact that whales are not fish.
- 40:06Speaker 3: They're mammals, just like me and you.
- 40:09Speaker 1: That's right.
- 40:12Speaker 2: I'm gonna ask you a question. From the moment they
- 40:14Speaker 2: beamed the the whales onto the ship to the point
- 40:20Speaker 2: they crashed the bird of prey into the bay in
- 40:26Speaker 2: the twenty third century, how much time do you think
- 40:30Speaker 2: passed from the whales perspective. I'm not talking about time travel,
- 40:34Speaker 2: I'm talking about from the whales perspective.
- 40:36Speaker 3: How long were they in the tank? You think ten
- 40:42Speaker 3: to fifteen minutes?
- 40:44Speaker 1: Un let's say fifteen now, yeah, fifteen, twenty minutes maybe?
- 40:50Speaker 3: Okay, Why do they have to kill the tank.
- 40:56Speaker 1: Well to hold the weight? I don't think whales can.
- 40:59Speaker 1: It probably hurt for a whale to just lay down
- 41:02Speaker 1: on the deck.
- 41:06Speaker 2: Yeah, spaceship it only has gravity because they turned the
- 41:10Speaker 2: gravity on.
- 41:13Speaker 1: Maybe they wanted to make the whales more comfortable.
- 41:17Speaker 3: Yeah, in zero G environment ever been that's true?
- 41:23Speaker 1: No, you're right. Maybe they didn't need to.
- 41:25Speaker 2: They don't need they don't need plexiglass, They don't need
- 41:29Speaker 2: water that seems should be Kirk should go down to
- 41:32Speaker 2: the basement, says Scotty, will the whale fit in here?
- 41:33Speaker 3: I okay, cool, and then he goes back.
- 41:35Speaker 2: Upstairs and says, let's find a whale being you're beaming
- 41:40Speaker 2: into the ship.
- 41:41Speaker 3: You go forward to the future. You open up the
- 41:43Speaker 3: cargo bay door, you dump the whales in the water,
- 41:47Speaker 3: go to your court martial.
- 41:52Speaker 1: San Francisco Bay and you just open the doors. Flash.
- 41:59Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 42:00Speaker 1: Fun fact. A helmp back whale can hold its breath
- 42:02Speaker 1: for ten to thirty minutes.
- 42:05Speaker 5: You got time, then that's allid trip man.
- 42:08Speaker 3: Think it time.
- 42:12Speaker 5: Yeah, you got wrong.
- 42:14Speaker 1: No, you're not wrong, You're not wrong.
- 42:17Speaker 4: Kevin Tricky says this radiation would have certed solved the
- 42:20Speaker 4: burn and discovery. Yeah, with all the crystals when they
- 42:22Speaker 4: all blew up.
- 42:24Speaker 5: Yeah, do we lose, Scott? Do you just walk off
- 42:27Speaker 5: the show?
- 42:28Speaker 1: No? No, no, no, I'm still here. I'm still there,
- 42:33Speaker 1: truth be told. I had to pick my nose and
- 42:34Speaker 1: I didn't want to do it on camera.
- 42:35Speaker 5: Nice. Oh that's good.
- 42:38Speaker 1: I tried to do it stealthy, but you had to
- 42:39Speaker 1: call me out. Okay, So all right, yes, Dan, you
- 42:46Speaker 1: are one percent right, they didn't need uh, they didn't
- 42:49Speaker 1: need the plex. But if we didn't need a tank,
- 42:51Speaker 1: we wouldn't have gotten some great plexicoor plex plex whatever
- 42:56Speaker 1: that company was scene. So yeah, uh god, Okay, so
- 43:02Speaker 1: we've got three teams. Right, We've got Chekov and Hua
- 43:05Speaker 1: they're going to go to the Enterprise uh and steal photons.
- 43:10Speaker 1: We've got Scotty and doctor McCoy who are going to
- 43:17Speaker 1: a very shady way get their hands on six inches
- 43:20Speaker 1: worth of class Uh. They're just sort of in the team.
- 43:25Speaker 3: They got timeline.
- 43:27Speaker 1: Yeah. And and then here's another thing I had a
- 43:29Speaker 1: big issue with this. Sulu's mission is sort of a
- 43:33Speaker 1: side mission of Scotty and Bones. He's going to steal
- 43:39Speaker 1: a military helicopter because that's easy to do by flirting
- 43:45Speaker 1: with the helicopter pilot. That's what Des was asking, like,
- 43:50Speaker 1: was he just flirting with was he just snoop smoothing
- 43:53Speaker 1: the helicopter pilot? Was like, oh my, tell me about
- 43:57Speaker 1: these human.
- 43:58Speaker 2: Honestly, honestly, Scott, if that's actually what was happening there,
- 44:04Speaker 2: that makes the scene that much more plausible. That's true
- 44:08Speaker 2: because even as a kid, I was like, why would
- 44:10Speaker 2: this guy just give him his helicopters.
- 44:13Speaker 1: So what happened between the uh do you mind if
- 44:16Speaker 1: I ask you a few questions and him like accidentally
- 44:19Speaker 1: turning on the windshiel wipers? Yeah, was there a little
- 44:22Speaker 1: bit of you know, bound bound?
- 44:25Speaker 2: I mean.
- 44:27Speaker 5: He was like, there's a probe.
- 44:29Speaker 1: How do you hear there's a probe? Oh my?
- 44:34Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 44:36Speaker 1: What's going on there? That I can believe time travel,
- 44:40Speaker 1: I can believe slingshot, I can believe whales. I can
- 44:43Speaker 1: believe contras and Andy and even the unbelievable. We're not
- 44:47Speaker 1: going to court martial everybody for everything but the whole
- 44:51Speaker 1: Uh yeah, can I I'm gonna take this helicopter, all right?
- 44:55Speaker 5: So yeah, yeah, uh it was eighties San Francisco.
- 45:03Speaker 1: It was eighties San Francisco. Maybe he gave him some
- 45:05Speaker 1: lds and that's what let's talk thet SO And then
- 45:09Speaker 1: the other team is is Captain Kirk and uh Captain
- 45:14Speaker 1: Spock and they're charged with finding the whales.
- 45:18Speaker 5: That's so uh and uh George.
- 45:24Speaker 1: George, Yeah, George and Gracie named after the George Burns
- 45:28Speaker 1: and Gracie his wife, right right, yeah, okay, So for
- 45:35Speaker 1: those for those star for those trek cast fans under
- 45:37Speaker 1: the age of sixty five. Yeah, George Burns was a
- 45:43Speaker 1: comedian and actor. Probably was in vaudeville too, probably yeah. So,
- 45:52Speaker 1: so these whales are at the at the San Francisco
- 45:55Speaker 1: Cetacean Institute, and then uh so, I guess break down
- 46:00Speaker 1: each mission, right. Captain Kirk and Spock are looking for
- 46:06Speaker 1: the whales. Kirk sees a sign on the side of
- 46:09Speaker 1: a bus that is advertising George and Gracie at the
- 46:12Speaker 1: Station Institute. They go to the Station Institute. On the
- 46:17Speaker 1: way they ride a bus and there's the famous scene
- 46:21Speaker 1: where the punk rocker is. He was actually a producer
- 46:24Speaker 1: on the movie, and he's got the boombox and it's
- 46:29Speaker 1: playing a song the Heat that the actor wrote and
- 46:33Speaker 1: made himself called I Hate You. That's what punk he's like.
- 46:37Speaker 1: He basically distilled all punk songs down into three words,
- 46:42Speaker 1: I hate you. So he won't turn his music down,
- 46:45Speaker 1: and so Spock gives him the vulcan nerve pinch. And
- 46:49Speaker 1: fun fact, we actually see the same actor, same character
- 46:52Speaker 1: thirty years later in Star Trek's Picards Season two, where
- 46:57Speaker 1: Raffie and seven of nine are riding the bus, only
- 47:00Speaker 1: this time they asked him to turn the music down,
- 47:03Speaker 1: and he goes, oh, yep, sorry my bad.
- 47:07Speaker 5: Season two percard.
- 47:08Speaker 1: There's only one season, that's right, the first the prequel
- 47:13Speaker 1: of season three, the prequel season, yes, prequel season three
- 47:16Speaker 1: where they take it.
- 47:18Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 47:18Speaker 1: Yeah, they go to twenty twenty three or twenty twenty two. Yeah, yeah,
- 47:23Speaker 1: the great right right, So yeah, this is the same
- 47:27Speaker 1: same actor. He's he's still kicking around. So so they
- 47:31Speaker 1: go to the c Station Institute, uh and basically, uh,
- 47:34Speaker 1: they find George and Gracie doctor doctor Julian. Juliana is
- 47:39Speaker 1: going around uh doing a you know, she's uh what
- 47:43Speaker 1: is she saying? Give us? Yeah, and they go on
- 47:47Speaker 1: a tour. She's heading up a tour and they she
- 47:51Speaker 1: introduces the whales, George and Gracie. And that's when uh,
- 47:55Speaker 1: Spock decides, I'm just gonna jump in the tank and
- 47:57Speaker 1: mine mid with a whale. Yes, And so hilarios ensues.
- 48:01Speaker 5: Because he's still kind of a little bit crazy.
- 48:03Speaker 1: It's yeah, just a little bit, yeah, just a little bit.
- 48:06Speaker 1: So uh, you know Dodor doctor as named doctor Tanner.
- 48:11Speaker 1: She she's she's pissed and I'm drawing a blank what happened?
- 48:19Speaker 1: Oh yeah, So she confronts kirkins Bock, what are you doing?
- 48:22Speaker 1: And they're trying to be a little coy about it.
- 48:24Speaker 1: They don't want to tell her exactly what we you know,
- 48:26Speaker 1: we we don't mean any harm to the whales, but
- 48:28Speaker 1: you know, right, so we're gonna, I guess we're gonna
- 48:31Speaker 1: move over to check off Anahura have beamed down to
- 48:35Speaker 1: the Enterprise. Uh the uh uh CVN sixty five although
- 48:40Speaker 1: c V and sixty one, the I don't remember the
- 48:43Speaker 1: name of the ship actually stood in for the Enterprise
- 48:45Speaker 1: because the Enterprise is obviously it's a time of filming
- 48:50Speaker 1: and uh so they're they're gonna go to the to
- 48:53Speaker 1: the main engineering of the of the Enterprise, and they're
- 48:56Speaker 1: just gonna chill while they collect the h the photons
- 48:59Speaker 1: and they're just gonna chill out and wait. While all
- 49:02Speaker 1: this is happening, Scotty and McCoy come up with this ruse.
- 49:10Speaker 1: They go to this plex cor plexiglass company, and they've
- 49:14Speaker 1: got they've got a plan. So they're gonna go to
- 49:16Speaker 1: this plexiglass company. Scotty's gonna pretend he's a professor from
- 49:19Speaker 1: Edinburgh and they're gonna go on a tour, and they
- 49:22Speaker 1: go on a tour this plexiglass place, and they end
- 49:24Speaker 1: up at this the plant manager's office, and they basically
- 49:29Speaker 1: want to con him out of sixty feet by ten
- 49:33Speaker 1: feet by six inches by the perimeter of this cargo
- 49:37Speaker 1: hold of plexiglass. And they basically say, you know how much?
- 49:45Speaker 1: They ask him how much how thick would this plexi
- 49:47Speaker 1: glass need to be to hold, you know, so many
- 49:50Speaker 1: hundred cubic feet of water? The guy's like six inches.
- 49:53Speaker 1: We carry that stuff in stock. They need to get
- 49:55Speaker 1: their hands on it. So they Scotty says, what if
- 49:58Speaker 1: I told you I know material that could do the
- 50:01Speaker 1: same job and only be one inch thick. Yeah, Scotty
- 50:04Speaker 1: was totally hamming it up, absolutely, And he gives him
- 50:08Speaker 1: the formula for transparent aluminum. Mm hmm. He gives this
- 50:13Speaker 1: guy from nineteen eighty six the formula for transparent aluminum,
- 50:17Speaker 1: and and they they they explain it away by saying,
- 50:23Speaker 1: because even McCoy's like, you realize by giving the form
- 50:26Speaker 1: of you formulate your altering history. And and the way
- 50:29Speaker 1: they explain it away is Scotty says, one line, why
- 50:32Speaker 1: how do you know he didn't invent the thing? That's right,
- 50:35Speaker 1: problems solved. Temporal investigations is like, oh, okay, no problem,
- 50:40Speaker 1: no problem, We're good, We're good. Yeah. He probably was
- 50:42Speaker 1: the one that invented the thing, so probably so yeah.
- 50:46Speaker 1: So they managed to get their hands on on the plexiglass,
- 50:49Speaker 1: and then Sulu flies in and is able to use
- 50:52Speaker 1: the huey to somehow because it's normal for a helicopter
- 50:56Speaker 1: to come in and grab sheets of six inch plexiglass
- 50:59Speaker 1: from a plus plus operation. Uh meantime, check Off and
- 51:04Speaker 1: Ahura are still on the enterprise. They're about done. They
- 51:09Speaker 1: go to beam Off, but Scotty says that there's an issue.
- 51:12Speaker 1: They're they're at minimum power, so they can only transport
- 51:15Speaker 1: one at a time. So Checkoff gives a horror the
- 51:18Speaker 1: collector she transports away, and then uh, check Off is
- 51:23Speaker 1: like hello, now would be a good time, and they
- 51:25Speaker 1: completely lose the signal, which in Star Trek has always
- 51:30Speaker 1: bugged me, like they they barely have a communicator signal,
- 51:35Speaker 1: like barely can even talk to him. It's real staticky, right,
- 51:39Speaker 1: Yet they're able to transport Ahura, which I would imagine
- 51:43Speaker 1: takes a million times strength.
- 51:46Speaker 8: You know.
- 51:47Speaker 1: It's like it's like we can barely here your but
- 51:50Speaker 1: no problem. We're gonna scramble your every single one of
- 51:53Speaker 1: your molecules using a Klingon transporter. Everything will be fine.
- 51:58Speaker 1: So Checkof gets captured. Now something you need to understand.
- 52:03Speaker 1: You need to look at this from the nineteen eighty
- 52:05Speaker 1: six perspective. Checkof is Russian? Right, it's nineteen eighty six.
- 52:12Speaker 1: He's just been caught inside of a nuclear powered aircraft carrier,
- 52:18Speaker 1: a US aircraft carrier. And by the way, did I
- 52:22Speaker 1: mention that Checkof is Russian.
- 52:25Speaker 3: My heads when he was asking where they were?
- 52:28Speaker 5: Uh huh uh.
- 52:32Speaker 1: So they start interrogating Checkov and the guy's just like,
- 52:38Speaker 1: first of all, the guy is using some you know,
- 52:41Speaker 1: he uses the R word for mental, you know, he's like,
- 52:45Speaker 1: he's not actually there. He calls him a Rusky, he's
- 52:49Speaker 1: you know, it's it's very nineteen eighty six racist and
- 52:53Speaker 1: just using potty mouth words. It would get you canceled
- 52:57Speaker 1: all over today. And they're by he's he's he's Russian.
- 53:02Speaker 1: And you have to remember in nineteen eighty six, we
- 53:05Speaker 1: were right in the middle sort of tail end of
- 53:08Speaker 1: a Cold War with Russia. We didn't know if they
- 53:12Speaker 1: were gonna launch some nukes or we were gonna launch
- 53:15Speaker 1: nukes or whatever. So they interrogate him. He got he
- 53:19Speaker 1: grabs the Klingon phaser, which looks very strange for a
- 53:22Speaker 1: Klingon phaser. It looks like more like a communicator, and
- 53:26Speaker 1: he says, you know right right, He says, uh, you know, uh,
- 53:33Speaker 1: basically sit down or stay where you are, right, I
- 53:36Speaker 1: have to do you And the obviously doesn't work because
- 53:39Speaker 1: of the radiation and whatever, cause he starts. He basically
- 53:42Speaker 1: escapes and he's running and there's that hilarious music while
- 53:50Speaker 1: he's running away, and then he falls and he hurts himself.
- 53:55Speaker 1: By this time, uh, they've got the cage, They've got
- 54:01Speaker 1: the doctor. Juliana's basically got got on board the Klingon
- 54:07Speaker 1: Burda prey. They've realized that the whales are no longer
- 54:10Speaker 1: at the institute. They've been shipped off to see. Kirk
- 54:15Speaker 1: asked her for the radio frequency number, which is four
- 54:19Speaker 1: oh one gigahertz, and he says, you can't go with
- 54:22Speaker 1: us here from here, and then she just says surprise
- 54:27Speaker 1: and hugs him, and she accidentally gets beamed board too
- 54:30Speaker 1: and does this like with that work? And I said, well,
- 54:34Speaker 1: it wouldn't hurt anything. I said. The annular confinement beam
- 54:37Speaker 1: would prevent anything that wasn't locked on from from being
- 54:42Speaker 1: beam from being beamed up.
- 54:44Speaker 5: I get it it warning warning, NERD alert, nerd alert.
- 54:51Speaker 1: If you get through the annular confinement beam, you will
- 54:54Speaker 1: beamed up, be beamed up with everything else, just like
- 54:56Speaker 1: the air around you. If you're outside the annular confinement beam,
- 54:59Speaker 1: once ag up, you can't get beamed up with everything else.
- 55:02Speaker 1: So that's the way it works. So I said, she
- 55:04Speaker 1: must have gotten made physical contact, then the annular confinement
- 55:07Speaker 1: beam locked onto everything and then they were beamed up.
- 55:10Speaker 1: So I'm okay with that all right?
- 55:13Speaker 5: Was outside of the beam? Would she lose her foot?
- 55:17Speaker 1: No, That's what the point of the angular confinement beam
- 55:19Speaker 1: is is so that those kind of accidents don't happen. Okay,
- 55:23Speaker 1: So you can either get to them by the time
- 55:25Speaker 1: before it goes up, or or you just you're prevented from.
- 55:31Speaker 2: A klingon transporter. Part of the pattern that's missing. They
- 55:35Speaker 2: just add sawdust, you'll.
- 55:37Speaker 1: Be fair sure? Sure? Yeah, yeah, they take a lot
- 55:44Speaker 1: of shortcuts. They use proto matter and their their angular
- 55:47Speaker 1: confinement beam.
- 55:49Speaker 3: You got crust crust. The old Klingon military officers like.
- 55:55Speaker 1: At this point, that's okay, okay, So now everybody is
- 56:00Speaker 1: on board the Klingon bird of prey, including the doctor, uh,
- 56:04Speaker 1: the whale doctor, except for they can't go anywhere why
- 56:08Speaker 1: they're missing a man. And there was a very nice
- 56:11Speaker 1: moment where you can tell that Spock is starting to
- 56:15Speaker 1: learn about relationships and about friendships and more than just
- 56:20Speaker 1: the you know, the the logical things where he says,
- 56:23Speaker 1: we have to stay back, we have to go and
- 56:25Speaker 1: get check off. The needs of the needs of the
- 56:30Speaker 1: one outweigh the needs of the many. And so they
- 56:33Speaker 1: devise a plan. We're going to go to this hospital.
- 56:36Speaker 1: We need to look like surgeons and uh they have.
- 56:42Speaker 1: So they're they're they're all in this hospital. They're looking
- 56:44Speaker 1: for a checkofu. They have one of the greatest greatest
- 56:48Speaker 1: scenes in Star Trek history where Bones walks by this
- 56:52Speaker 1: old woman in a in a hospital bed and he's like,
- 56:55Speaker 1: what's wrong with you? And she's like, I'm on kidney dialysis.
- 56:57Speaker 1: He's like dialysis, God, God, damn dark ages. He reaches
- 57:02Speaker 1: into his bag, doesn't even you know, mess around with
- 57:06Speaker 1: the bag, just reaches for the very first pill packet.
- 57:10Speaker 1: He finds they're not even in a packet, they're just pill.
- 57:13Speaker 1: He hands it to her, says, you swallow that and
- 57:16Speaker 1: you call me if you have any other issues. She
- 57:18Speaker 1: takes this thing and swallows it. Yeah, so this These
- 57:21Speaker 1: must be like magic pills that you know. They take
- 57:25Speaker 1: care of kidney dialysis, they take care of heart disease,
- 57:30Speaker 1: broken bones, and transporter psychosis, those everything and anything.
- 57:34Speaker 2: You can remember those pills you get rumble a machine,
- 57:38Speaker 2: you drop it in a glass of water, you come
- 57:39Speaker 2: back twelve hours later in this dinosaur.
- 57:42Speaker 5: Yep, yeah, kidney.
- 57:46Speaker 1: Oh.
- 57:46Speaker 5: I thought the pills you get at the gas station.
- 57:51Speaker 1: I don't want to know about the pills you get.
- 57:53Speaker 1: There's like two types of pills you can get at
- 57:55Speaker 1: the gas station. I think it's uh, yes, bills in
- 58:00Speaker 1: morning after pills. I don't know.
- 58:02Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 58:03Speaker 1: So they find they find where Chekhof's at. They they
- 58:09Speaker 1: have this route the checkoffs being guarded by a couple
- 58:11Speaker 1: of guard a couple of police officers, and they they
- 58:14Speaker 1: throw the doctor. They throw the whale doctor on a
- 58:16Speaker 1: gurney and they say she's sick, she's got upper blah
- 58:21Speaker 1: blah blah blah, blah. Basically, he says something doctory that
- 58:25Speaker 1: says she has crabs. They get her into the room.
- 58:27Speaker 1: They stop the doctors from doing drilling a hole in
- 58:31Speaker 1: Chekhof's head, and he's like, you know, my god, man,
- 58:34Speaker 1: drilling the holes in his head isn't the answer. The
- 58:36Speaker 1: artery must be repaired, and so they lock the other
- 58:39Speaker 1: doctors into a room. He puts on the the little
- 58:43Speaker 1: little thing that cures all types of brain injuries, and
- 58:46Speaker 1: he wakes up. They put him on a gurney. They
- 58:49Speaker 1: they run for the elevator and the cops are chasing them.
- 58:54Speaker 1: The cops go downstairs waiting for them, open the door.
- 58:57Speaker 1: They're gone. They transport to uh, you know, to the
- 59:03Speaker 1: to the to the to the Klingon Enterprise, and that's
- 59:07Speaker 1: that's when doctor Taylor does the whole jump surprise. Yes, dam.
- 59:14Speaker 2: So if they can get transported out while they're in
- 59:18Speaker 2: the elevator, why they leave the r.
- 59:22Speaker 1: They didn't want to let the doctors that that would
- 59:26Speaker 1: see them transport out.
- 59:29Speaker 3: Doctor saw them repair brain aneurysm with a.
- 59:34Speaker 1: That often explained away that all can be explained away.
- 59:37Speaker 1: Even disappearing in an elevator can be explained away. You know,
- 59:40Speaker 1: that's just a magic trick. So watching them disappear.
- 59:43Speaker 2: Exact moment in time, they are suddenly concerned with not
- 59:50Speaker 2: damaging the timeline.
- 59:53Speaker 3: After they've given away the the.
- 59:57Speaker 2: Recipe for transparent aluminum. No how, they're suddenly concerned with
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: polluting the timeline.
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: Okay, see, I saw a deleted scene that you guys
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: didn't see. I saw a deleted scene where Captain Braxton
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: transported to them and said, hey, time out, this is
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: what needs to happen. He transports them to the to
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: his ship. Welcome to the Timeship Relativity. We're from the
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: twenty ninth century. Everything you've done we can fix, except
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: for you just beamed out in front of these doctors.
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: We're gonna need you to go back in time ten minutes.
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: We need you to go for the elevator. You got
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: to get past these cops and go for the elevator. Okay,
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: they cut the scene for time, but I saw it. Okay,
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: it was Captain Braxton, and it was the second act
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: to take Captain Braxton, not the first one.
- 1:00:47Speaker 3: Was this a military hospital, No.
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: No, it was. They said it was a mission district.
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: It was something memorial mission district.
- 1:00:57Speaker 3: Yeah, why not.
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: Why didn't they take them to military hospital. This guy
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: is a he's a Russian spy that they captured on
- 1:01:06Speaker 2: a US vessel.
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: Right, Well, they should have first take him to the
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: infirmary on the ship and then yeah, transported them. They
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: should there. There should be an infirmary and operating room
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: on the.
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: Ship, and there isn't. If there isn't, it's an aircraft carrier.
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: They can literally airlift him anywhere he needs to go. Yeah,
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: but he ends up General General Hospital with the in
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: the Francisco.
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: Yeah, in Alameda. Yeah, it doesn't make fun. It doesn't
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: make any So okay, so they uh, they all transport
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: on the Klingon ship and uh, including the whale doctor
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: and uh they have the frequencies of the whales, and
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: so they decide everything's good. The powers up. They decide, Uh, okay,
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: let's let's go find the whales there somewhere in the
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: Baring Sea. You can hear you can hear the theme
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: song to Deadliest Catch in the background.
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: You know.
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: Mike Row comes on to uh to narrate what's going on,
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: and he says, the Klingon Bird of Prey is going
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: heading to the Baring Sea. And there's a uh, there's
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: a whaling ship. They're able to put the whaling ship
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: on screen, and uh, I I don't know why. I
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: love this scene. It's one of my favorite scenes in
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: all of Star Trek. The whaling ship is honing in
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: on the whales and they're about to shoot their giant
- 1:02:29Speaker 1: harpoon at it. And some time goes by and you
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: see them fire the harpoon and it hits nothing and
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: and and just gets deflected away. And that's when the
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: giant bird of prey d cloaks in front of this
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: twentieth century whaling vessel. That's right, and as much sense
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: as it does not make to decloak, and because what
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: does is like, why would they even decloak, why would
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: they make their why would they show themselves in front
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: of this whaling.
- 1:03:01Speaker 5: I thought that same thing.
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: Yeah, and this whaling vessel was full of French whalers,
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: Like I don't know why they were French, but that's
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: the language they were speaking, because it was the French
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: doesn't like the French. So they're they're turning around and
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: they're gonna high tail it out of there.
- 1:03:19Speaker 7: Uh.
- 1:03:19Speaker 3: Were they actually speaking French?
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the language they were speaking, and they were,
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: and they were because they said they were going to
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: drop the whales off near uh near Alaska.
- 1:03:31Speaker 3: Then so the Canadians are the villain, the Canadians.
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: There you go, there you go. They're French Canadians.
- 1:03:41Speaker 5: Oh wow, that's nobody likes those guys.
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: That's a twist.
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: I assume they were Russian. I pay attention to what
- 1:03:50Speaker 3: what language.
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: Were I doubt that Canada was like one of the
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: only Earth nations not to join the Federation. It turns
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: out in the Canada's evil. So where where were we?
- 1:04:04Speaker 7: Uh?
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: So now we've got they beam up the four hundred
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: tons and uh. Scotty says, well, not just the wearser
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: it's the water. And so they beam up the four
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: hundred tons. Uh, and Scotty says, uh. James Doing's favorite
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: line in in Star Trek. He goes, Captain, there'll be
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: whales here, and they've got all the whales, they've got
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: all the water, and uh, Spock has to he can't.
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: Here's another knit that I got.
- 1:04:38Speaker 7: Uh.
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: They Kirk says, have you accounted for you know, the
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: weight of the whales? And Spot is like, well, Scotty
- 1:04:45Speaker 1: can't give me an exact number. What do you mean
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: you can't number? Ask the transporter computer exactly down to
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: the Yeah, down to the milligram. I want to know
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: how much water and whales we he just beamed aboard.
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: Don't tell me you can't get an exact number. You
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: can get an exact number. You can give him the
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: exact salinity content. Okay. So anyways, he has to program
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: this and make sort of an educated guess and they
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: go in for the time. They do the time warp again.
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: Let's do the time again, and they do the time
- 1:05:22Speaker 1: warp again. They jump to the left, go around the sun,
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: and it's not quite as dramatic this time, because I
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: guess going forward in times not not as groovy as
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: uh as going back in time.
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: Everybody had already seen all the effects.
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: So they were all effected out. They didn't have they
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: didn't have enough budget to make a smoky water uh
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: sort of cast mold of the whales and and the
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: whale doctor.
- 1:05:50Speaker 3: So it's like back to the future.
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: That DeLorean was ice cold the first few times, and
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: then uh, they were like after that, No, that's too much.
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: That just got yes, just got used to it.
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: It just got used to it.
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: So they go back in time and they go back
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: to the exact moment where Cisco's dad says, get him back,
- 1:06:09Speaker 1: get him back, and so they get they they they
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: They don't really show this because obviously the effects budget
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: just wasn't there. Although side note this this they they
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: were given such a huge budget, mostly because of William
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: Shatner and Leonard Yemoy's salary. They each got three point
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: five million dollars to do this picture, which is an
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: insane amount.
- 1:06:36Speaker 5: The budget for the movie was anywhere between twenty one
- 1:06:39Speaker 5: and twenty five million.
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: Right and the re Because the budget was so high,
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: Paramount had to cut the budget for their next project
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: called Star Trek the Next Generation. So the first season
- 1:06:54Speaker 1: of Star Trek the Next Generation's budget was reduced because
- 1:06:57Speaker 1: of this movie. Okay, so they back in time, they
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: do the sling side around the sun. Somehow the Bird
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: of Prey is pointing exactly towards Earth and it loses
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: all power because of the probe, and they end up
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: in San Francisco Bay and so they have to Kirk
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: has to do is heroic underwater swim. I can't watch
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: the scene because I hate underwater. I hate underwater shots.
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: I don't like. Okay, So my wife looks at me
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: and she goes, boy, you have a hard time watching Poseidon,
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: And I'm like, I would never watch Besidon. I could
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: barely watch Titanic because of the underwater scenes. I just
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: don't like. I have a phobia of underwater scene. So Kirk,
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: let's let's uh is able to pull the emergency Apparently
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: this power if you pull the emergency bar, and that
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: releases the whales, and the whales do exactly what Bones was,
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: you know, didn't think they would do. And it tells
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: this probe what the hell to go do with itself?
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: And so yeah, and they got a couple They got
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: a couple of things right here. Uh when when wales
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: male whales are the ones that do the singing, and
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: when they do the singing, they point down with their
- 1:08:18Speaker 1: tails up, and that's when they that's how they do
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: the singing. So they got that sort of like right.
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: And then the the probe does the same thing. It
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: sort of paid points down and then it goes away.
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: And this was this next part was an very very
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: interesting little little uh tidbit that I read about and
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: I didn't know until I watched the movie. Again and
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: I rewound it, and sure enough, when the when the
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: probe is going away in English in a very low tone,
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: it actually says I'm sorry as it floating. Yeah, and
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: I read about it, and sure enough you can hear
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: it say I'm sorry.
- 1:09:07Speaker 5: Huh really not.
- 1:09:10Speaker 3: Yep, And listen to the whales when he when he
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: starts singing, you can hear him say, dude, we're fine,
- 1:09:17Speaker 3: We're fine.
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: I had a really trippy time travel experience, that's right. Yeah,
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: I saw floaty, smoky, watery versions of myself that just
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: wasn't shown on screen. So, uh, they all escape, They're
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: all swimming in San Francisco Bay. The whales are floating
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: off and and the probe goes away. Everything's good and
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: so smash cut to the court martial scene. All the
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: crew comes in. Spock joins them from the from the
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: stands and they say, uh, you know, Spock, you're not
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: you're not. You do not stand accused, And he says,
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: I stand with my shipmates. And the President's like very well, uh,
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: and he lists all the charges from just you know,
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: reckon the Excelsior, stealing the enterprise.
- 1:10:08Speaker 3: Like yeah, I like that.
- 1:10:09Speaker 4: When he even he's like, you don't, you don't stand accused.
- 1:10:12Speaker 4: He's like to stay with my shipmates, Like, yeah, we'll
- 1:10:14Speaker 4: send you to jail too, that's fine.
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: Okay, no problem. Yeah we could just bend the rules,
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: break thee.
- 1:10:20Speaker 3: I took it more like, stand wherever you want, man,
- 1:10:23Speaker 3: We're gonna.
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: So they say, uh, you know, because of certain mitigating circumstances,
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: like you saved the entire quadrant, all charges except for
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: one are summarily dismissed, and so the one charge left
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: disobeying in direct order of a superior officer lands solely
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: on Kirk, and as a they've decided to give him
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: a field grade Article fifteen, and they are going to
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: reduce him in rank from admiral to captain, and as
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: a consequence of that rank, he is going to now
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: be a captain of a starship again. And so everybody's happy.
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: I'm sure the Klingon ambassador is a little pissed.
- 1:11:05Speaker 7: Uh.
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: But because Klingons, there's some bad blood there. Klingons hate Kirk,
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: and Kirk hats Klingons. There's some racial tensions between the Klingons.
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: That's that's that's what I mean. We see the events
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: happen in Star Trek three. But it's it's really it's
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: really showcased in this movie, like the Klingons don't like Kirk,
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: and Kirk is not real happy with the Klingons for
- 1:11:29Speaker 1: killing his son. But anyway, so you know, she he
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: says goodbye to uh the whale doctor, and uh, you know,
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: she sort of brushes Kirk off like you know, I'm
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: out of here, like you're cute and all, but see yah,
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: which I thought was a refreshing change of pace.
- 1:11:46Speaker 5: She's like, I got a one picture deal and I'm out.
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: I got a one picture deal, and and uh, I
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: think some time has passed between them swimming in the
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: bay and and this court martial. I think a month
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: or two has passed because she's been caught up to date,
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: she's got a she's a specialist. Now she's going on
- 1:12:05Speaker 1: a starship and so she's got her own ship and
- 1:12:08Speaker 1: she's going to be a sort of a scientific, you know,
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: whale expert. So they they all get on I think
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: sometimes pasted also, and they get on a shuttle, all
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: the entire crew, and they're going to head out to
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: their new ship and they don't know what ship it is.
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: Kirk I think knows, and uh Scotty says, I'm hoping
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: we get excels or no Sulu and some forces shattering says,
- 1:12:33Speaker 1: I hope we get Excelsior, and uh Scotti is not
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: a big fan of the Excelsator. Excelsior, and they fly
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: over the Excelsior to see, uh the USS Enterprise NCC
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: one seven oh one A and I believe this and
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: this is not a brand new ship. This is a
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: I believe it was the USAC Yorktown that they recommission
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: to the Enterprise. A. I'm not sure if it's New York,
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: who's some other federationship, but it's not. It's also a
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: twenty year old Constitution class because in Star Trek six,
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: at the end of the movie, not to get too
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: far ahead, they say, we're gonna starfleet his orders back
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: to space Doc to be decommissioned. So they're getting to
- 1:13:18Speaker 1: be decommissioned and we'll never see that ship again until
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: Star Trek Pacard season three.
- 1:13:24Speaker 7: Uh.
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: So they get the Enterprise and they go off into
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: the sunset well Picard season one, part three.
- 1:13:31Speaker 5: Okay, Okay, let's let's speat it along because we're running
- 1:13:36Speaker 5: really long.
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: Yes, okay, okay, yeah, all right, So that and and
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: that is a star Trek four. This this movie has
- 1:13:44Speaker 1: I go on IMDb and there is more uh like
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: trivia than just about any other movie. One piece of
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: trivia that's actually not in there. When they're at the hospital,
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: I I froze frame. Uh there's a shot of the
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: doctors that are locked in that closet. There is a
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: piece of equipment that's labeled Striker Medical. Striker Medical is
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: a medical supply company. It's based in my hometown of Kalamazoo, Michigan.
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: Oh okay, that's a little connection to Kalamazoo. Stright and
- 1:14:20Speaker 1: it's same fine, it's it's this This Striker Medical actually
- 1:14:24Speaker 1: supplied this piece of equipment to the film. So Striker
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: is a big employer in Kalamazoo.
- 1:14:30Speaker 4: So I shout out to that nice awesome. Okay, Well,
- 1:14:35Speaker 4: I guess we've got people on the line are ready
- 1:14:38Speaker 4: to go. We've got Chasmiz and duball. So let's let's
- 1:14:41Speaker 4: get the listener feedback.
- 1:14:43Speaker 5: Oh yeah, yeah, so hold on, listener feedback.
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: What happens when you make me do the recap?
- 1:14:54Speaker 4: I know, I know, it's okay, it's okay, but so
- 1:14:57Speaker 4: we'll go to Chasman's real quick and then we'll go
- 1:14:59Speaker 4: to the ball next.
- 1:15:00Speaker 5: So there he is, there's jazz.
- 1:15:04Speaker 9: How's it going, man, I'm pretty good.
- 1:15:07Speaker 5: Did you watch the movie?
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah, my dad liked it.
- 1:15:11Speaker 9: Oh good, good, fall asleep through it.
- 1:15:13Speaker 5: So oh that's a good review.
- 1:15:15Speaker 9: He was kind of confused about the whales and everything.
- 1:15:18Speaker 9: He's like, no, what's what's going on? Why are they
- 1:15:21Speaker 9: talking to Wells?
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: We were all confused. None of it made sense. So
- 1:15:25Speaker 1: he's in good company.
- 1:15:26Speaker 9: Is this modern San Francisco or is this in the
- 1:15:30Speaker 9: past San Francisco?
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: Dad? This is in the eighties.
- 1:15:32Speaker 5: So yep, that's right, that's right.
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: What's the biggest takeaway?
- 1:15:39Speaker 9: Okay, the way you guys are doing these reviews is
- 1:15:42Speaker 9: like you do you know a class project together?
- 1:15:45Speaker 5: That's right.
- 1:15:46Speaker 9: He had that one guy that does all the work.
- 1:15:48Speaker 1: Which could be Scott.
- 1:15:51Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:15:51Speaker 9: The rest of you guys are like, yeah, just keep reading. Yeah,
- 1:15:54Speaker 9: you guys want to hope out, No, just keep reading.
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: I'm I'm sorry, You're not wrong.
- 1:16:02Speaker 5: You're not wrong.
- 1:16:06Speaker 9: The rest of you guys just showed up to classes
- 1:16:08Speaker 9: like we might get a on this.
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: I don't care this is a movie I've seen. I've
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: seen it twenty three times, right, yeah, you know, and
- 1:16:16Speaker 1: then I just saw it last night, so I you know, okay,
- 1:16:22Speaker 1: what was Since you've seen it so many times?
- 1:16:24Speaker 9: What were the toppings on the pizza?
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: Pepperoni, mushroom onion? Yes, extra onion, extra onion?
- 1:16:36Speaker 9: Okay, lots of onions?
- 1:16:37Speaker 5: All right?
- 1:16:38Speaker 9: Wow, that sounds like Michelob because every time I see that,
- 1:16:42Speaker 9: it's like, yeah, that's.
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: A horrible pizza order. Do you trust me? Implicitly more?
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: And also Kirk grabs that beer and takes a sip
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: of it like he's never had a beer before.
- 1:16:54Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, well he's probably never had a Michelob and
- 1:16:57Speaker 9: he's like, well, okay, maybe he's not.
- 1:17:05Speaker 5: What the hell is this?
- 1:17:06Speaker 9: And plus you know, Shatner's Canadian, so he's probably like
- 1:17:10Speaker 9: this is real ship.
- 1:17:12Speaker 5: Yeah, oh you're right, you're right.
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: Yeah, notice anything new this time around watching it? Any anything?
- 1:17:22Speaker 9: One thing I noticed is the when Chekhov gets captured
- 1:17:27Speaker 9: and then he has you know, he's gonna stun him, right,
- 1:17:32Speaker 9: he tosses his Adam what happens to the phaser?
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: So there's a deleted scene Captain Braxton and the and
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: the Time Ship Relativity actually go in behind them and
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: clean up their best as.
- 1:17:50Speaker 3: I have some proof here that this movie is dated
- 1:17:54Speaker 3: very yes, double dumb.
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: Forty years old.
- 1:18:00Speaker 2: When they first get to nineteen eighty six and there's
- 1:18:03Speaker 2: the two garbage men having a conversation, the one guy
- 1:18:09Speaker 2: tells a story about telling his wife, if you think
- 1:18:12Speaker 2: I'm gonna pay sixty dollars for a toaster, you're out
- 1:18:14Speaker 2: of your mind. And I'm watching this last night and
- 1:18:17Speaker 2: I'm thinking that is the reason price toaster it is.
- 1:18:20Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, if you want a sixty dollars toaster oven,
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: you have my permission.
- 1:18:28Speaker 5: Yeah, not that you need it, but you have it.
- 1:18:30Speaker 3: It's your permission to buy a toaster.
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: Wow. Wow, Wow, that is the nineteen eighty six version
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: of me.
- 1:18:38Speaker 9: So they only have one hundred dollars to go around.
- 1:18:40Speaker 9: It was one hundred dollars that got the pawn shop. Yeah,
- 1:18:44Speaker 9: I mean they get you nowhere in San Francisco.
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: No, that's gone in like too many in nineteen eighty six.
- 1:18:50Speaker 9: Yeah, you might have, could have could have gone. The
- 1:18:54Speaker 9: trolley got a trolley passed for the day and everybody
- 1:18:56Speaker 9: just read the trolley around town.
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: Yeah, that wouldn't have paid it. Admission to the Cetation Institute.
- 1:19:02Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, exactly, there's no way they had to slip
- 1:19:05Speaker 9: in somehow.
- 1:19:06Speaker 5: Yeah, all right, anything else you wanted to bring up?
- 1:19:11Speaker 9: Chap that that pizza sound disgusting. And then the hospital scenes,
- 1:19:15Speaker 9: like you guys are saying if it was military hospital, right,
- 1:19:19Speaker 9: it should have been. Well, it's like, was it a
- 1:19:22Speaker 9: bad trauma? You know, he fell so far it might
- 1:19:25Speaker 9: have been a bad trauma. They had to go to
- 1:19:26Speaker 9: trauma hospital, that's true, and had to get it, you know,
- 1:19:28Speaker 9: a trauma surgeon. But they should have had military door. Yeah, yeah, MPs,
- 1:19:35Speaker 9: not Keystone cops.
- 1:19:37Speaker 5: So did try to talk.
- 1:19:43Speaker 3: That's right, It doesn't matter. He's rusty. They wouldn't care,
- 1:19:46Speaker 3: that's right.
- 1:19:47Speaker 9: Yeah, exactly, he's a rusky. It was like, you know,
- 1:19:50Speaker 9: the whole floor would probably be taken over.
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: It was cringey when they called him the other R
- 1:19:55Speaker 1: word though, I'm like, yeah.
- 1:19:57Speaker 9: Yeah, but that's the eight These guys that the eighties,
- 1:20:02Speaker 9: that's that's that is the slang of the eighties. That's ship.
- 1:20:05Speaker 9: They said, all right, you know when you write something
- 1:20:10Speaker 9: like that, especially in the eighties, they probably were helping
- 1:20:13Speaker 9: of it.
- 1:20:13Speaker 5: But now we're like, you know, you can't say that.
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: And who was that guy the interview him or to interior?
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: That must have been a CIA agent. Yeah, probably so
- 1:20:22Speaker 1: that Jack b Yeah, because I A deals with international stuff, that's.
- 1:20:27Speaker 9: Right, you know scholar or you know Molder and Scullar
- 1:20:32Speaker 9: or whatever the X files, like these guys.
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: Came from their the hell deal with domestic stuff.
- 1:20:39Speaker 5: Okay, m all right, man, we got we got uh

- 1:21:38Speaker 8: all right, okay, so I.
- 1:21:48Speaker 3: Got some.
- 1:21:51Speaker 8: Amusing some notes I'd like to share. Yeah, Like every
- 1:21:58Speaker 8: time when I saw that that probe, I pretty much
- 1:22:01Speaker 8: wanted to host this ho ho. I also glad to
- 1:22:10Speaker 8: see that the Starfleet Counsel got an advanced Blu ray
- 1:22:14Speaker 8: copy of Star Trek three is Search for Spot. So
- 1:22:20Speaker 8: that was nice because that that footage was crystal clear,
- 1:22:25Speaker 8: especially for the eighties standards. My other notes are McCoy
- 1:22:33Speaker 8: was absolutely a joy in this movie. I also main
- 1:22:42Speaker 8: note of you know, oh my Bob, Bob was such
- 1:22:45Speaker 8: a jerk. I like to make a note that, uh, yeah,
- 1:22:52Speaker 8: Kirk wasn't going to get a kiss, you know, with
- 1:22:54Speaker 8: those with with those extra onions on that pizza. No,
- 1:22:57Speaker 8: you know, he definitely wasn't trying to get a Kirk
- 1:23:01Speaker 8: a little love, and it was really nice of her
- 1:23:05Speaker 8: to pretty much, uh give the guys the crew pree pizza.
- 1:23:14Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: I think my favorite.
- 1:23:18Speaker 8: Parts was pretty much McCoy in the hospital. I mean absolutely,
- 1:23:23Speaker 8: h it was absolute joy in this whole movie. Was
- 1:23:26Speaker 8: just peek McCoy throughout the whole movie. And it's good
- 1:23:32Speaker 8: that we know that Shatner's to pay is a waterproof
- 1:23:36Speaker 8: you know.
- 1:23:39Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:23:40Speaker 8: Other than that, uh, you know, it was it was
- 1:23:42Speaker 8: nice to see again. It's been a long long time
- 1:23:46Speaker 8: since I seen The Voyage Home, so it's definitely one
- 1:23:50Speaker 8: of my favorites when I was a kid, and still
- 1:23:53Speaker 8: one of my favorites now.
- 1:23:56Speaker 5: Nice.
- 1:23:57Speaker 3: Nice, despite taking a big jump on it for the
- 1:24:03Speaker 3: last hour and a half.
- 1:24:07Speaker 5: Yeah, it's a good one. It's a fun movie.
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: Yeah, I like it.
- 1:24:10Speaker 3: Yeah, we all like it.
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: It's up until it was the highest grossing Star Trek
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: movie up until uh two thousand and nine. Oh wow,
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: So I'm uh this is my impersonation of the guy
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: that gave Kirk one hundred dollars for his classes.
- 1:24:26Speaker 5: Yeah, I was gonna say, what is going on there?
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I'll give you one for them.
- 1:24:34Speaker 5: That's right, that's right. Huh, Deva, What did you think
- 1:24:39Speaker 5: of the other ts film since we got you on?
- 1:24:41Speaker 3: Oh that was Scott. I thought that was a clip
- 1:24:43Speaker 3: from the movie. I'm sorry, I think for them.
- 1:24:52Speaker 5: Nice? Anything else you wanted to ring u Duvall?
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: Oh?

- 1:26:15Speaker 2: You know, I had a feeling I was gonna like it.
- 1:26:17Speaker 2: I didn't think I would like it as much as Yeah, yeah,
- 1:26:21Speaker 2: it was good.
- 1:26:23Speaker 5: It was good.
- 1:26:25Speaker 1: Characters in it. They're all great side characters from other projects,
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: you know, so they're all it seems like there's I
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: haven't seen the movie. It just seems like they're there.
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: I hope there's a good touch of humor in it
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: with action dark themes, but it seems like those characters are're,
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: you know, just odd couple characters.
- 1:26:45Speaker 5: Yeah, chasmsiness. Wondering how many end credits scenes. There's two.
- 1:26:49Speaker 5: It's just two of them.
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: Okay, Okay, A good program to get if you want.
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: I have a program on my phone called run p exactly, yeah,
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: and it's it's it's for people like me who have
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: the bladder the size of a walnut, and it tells
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: me when I should go to the bathroom during a movie,
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: and it recaps what I missed. And it also has
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: a feature where it tells you if and how many
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: end credit scenes there are of any movie. Yep, run people,
- 1:27:16Speaker 1: I have a.
- 1:27:18Speaker 3: Catheter.
