A new street sign on Milwaukee’s West Atkinson Avenue honors Reverend Doctor Lovell Johnson Senior, the visionary leader of St. Mark AME Church who saved one of Wisconsin’s oldest churches from collapse and transformed it into a community powerhouse. Alongside his wife Marguerite, he launched programs in education, finance, and senior housing, leaving an indelible mark on Milwaukee.
