- 2:09Speaker 1: she was an assistant to Jeffrey Epstein and I met
- 2:12Speaker 1: her at his townhouse. Question, who else was there? Answer, again,
- 2:16Speaker 1: most often, it would just be his assistant, Leslie Groff.
- 2:19Speaker 1: That would be really the only other person that was
- 2:22Speaker 1: often there that I saw. Question, how many times did
- 2:25Speaker 1: you interact with her before you had sex? Answer, a handful. Question,
- 2:29Speaker 1: can you give me a number, estimate? Answer, I'd be guessing,

- 2:37Speaker 1: led you to have sex with her on that first occasion? Answer,
- 2:40Speaker 1: on the only occasion. We met and began to have

- 2:46Speaker 1: had one intimate encounter. Question, did Mr. Epstein set it up? Answer, no. Question,
- 2:52Speaker 1: are you aware if she's had sex with anyone else

- 3:16Speaker 1: I don't. Question, have you had sex with anyone else
- 3:19Speaker 1: associated with Mr. Epstein? Answer, no, I have not. Ms. Brignac,
- 3:24Speaker 1: I'm now entering into the record three exhibits, which will
- 3:27Speaker 1: be marked Majority Exhibit 3, 4, and 5. We're going
- 3:31Speaker 1: to go off the record and pass these out. They're
- 3:33Speaker 1: back on the record. Brignac's again speaking. Majority Exhibit 3
- 3:37Speaker 1: is bait-stamped EFTA 00779451. Majority Exhibit 4 is bait stamped
- 3:46Speaker 1: EFTA 007-41531. Majority Exhibit 5 is bait stamped EFTA 013-00651.
- 3:55Speaker 1: All three exhibits are part of an email exchange that
- 3:58Speaker 1: took place from July 10th through July 11th of 2010.
- 4:03Speaker 1: I'm going to begin Mr. Staley by asking questions about
- 4:06Speaker 1: Majority Exhibit 3. This is a photograph sent by Mr.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Epstein to a redacted name, on July 11th, 2010. Have
- 4:13Speaker 1: you seen this photo before? Answer, no, I have not. Question,
- 4:17Speaker 1: did you see this photo in preparation for your examination today? Answer,
- 4:21Speaker 1: this photo, no. Question, acknowledging the face in this photograph
- 4:25Speaker 1: is redacted, can you otherwise describe what you see in
- 4:28Speaker 1: the photo? Answer, that looks like Epstein's apartment in New York,
- 4:32Speaker 1: and obviously it's someone dressed up in a costume. Question, yeah,
- 4:36Speaker 1: it appears to be a young woman in a Snow
- 4:38Speaker 1: White costume. Who is in this photograph? Answer, I don't know. Question,
- 4:44Speaker 1: the committee has been able to identify this photograph as redacted.
- 4:48Speaker 1: Have you ever met redacted? Answer, I don't believe so. Question,
- 4:52Speaker 1: you stated you have been to Mr. Epstein's New York townhome.
- 4:56Speaker 1: Were you there on or around July 9th through the 10th, 2010? Answer,
- 5:01Speaker 1: I don't know. Question, you don't know because you can't recall? Answer, yes. Question,
- 5:06Speaker 1: I'll now turn to Majority Exhibit 4. This email was
- 5:09Speaker 1: sent from Redacted, who the committee understands to be Redacted,
- 5:13Speaker 1: to Mr. Epstein on July 10th, 2010 at 12.36am, and
- 5:17Speaker 1: it states that Snow White was fucked twice as soon
- 5:20Speaker 1: as she put on the costume. Mr. Staley, what do
- 5:23Speaker 1: you interpret fucked to mean? Answer, say it again, sorry,
- 5:27Speaker 1: this mail is from who? Question, this is from Redacted,
- 5:30Speaker 1: in the committee's review of the documents. My question is,
- 5:34Speaker 1: what do you interpret fucked to mean? Answer, intercourse. Question,
- 5:39Speaker 1: were you ever around this woman in the Snow White
- 5:41Speaker 1: costume at Mr. Epstein's residence? Answer, no. Question, okay. We'll
- 5:46Speaker 1: now turn to Majority Exhibit 5. This email exchange between you, Mr. Staley,
- 5:50Speaker 1: and Mr. Epstein on July 10th, 2010, sent around the
- 5:54Speaker 1: same time that Redacted was reporting to Mr. Epstein that
- 5:58Speaker 1: Snow White had been fucked twice. In your email exchange
- 6:01Speaker 1: with Mr. Epstein, you state, that was fun, say hi
- 6:04Speaker 1: to Snow White. Why did you send that email? Answer,
- 6:07Speaker 1: I don't recall. So I don't know. Question, were you
- 6:10Speaker 1: asking Mr. Epstein to say hi? Answer, I'm saying, say
- 6:13Speaker 1: hi to Snow White. Question, yes, who is Snow White? Answer, yeah,
- 6:18Speaker 1: I'm saying I don't know who Snow White is. Question,
- 6:21Speaker 1: we can agree it's coincidental that at the same time
- 6:24Speaker 1: you send this email, Redacted is sending to Mr. Epstein
- 6:27Speaker 1: that she was in a Snow White costume, correct? Answer, yes. Question,
- 6:31Speaker 1: why do you think that is? Answer again, I don't know. Question,
- 6:35Speaker 1: do you maintain you've never met Redacted? Answer, I don't
- 6:38Speaker 1: recall ever meeting her, no. I don't know who she is. Question,
- 6:42Speaker 1: now that I've refreshed your recollection, do you recall being
- 6:46Speaker 1: at Mr. Epstein's New York townhome on July 9th or 10th, 2010?
- 6:50Speaker 1: Answer again, we're talking 16 years ago. I don't know
- 6:53Speaker 1: exactly what the date. I was at the townhouse. I
- 6:56Speaker 1: don't recall seeing someone in a snow white outfit. Question,
- 7:00Speaker 1: have you seen any women in a costume around Mr. Epstein? Answer, no. Question,
- 7:05Speaker 1: later in the email exchange, Mr. Epstein asks, What character
- 7:08Speaker 1: would you like next? What do you think Mr. Epstein's asking? Answer, um,
- 7:13Speaker 1: you know? Question, I didn't get that. Can you speak up? Answer,
- 7:17Speaker 1: I'm reading the emails. This seems to imply that I
- 7:19Speaker 1: saw Snow White. And Epstein says, you know, what character
- 7:22Speaker 1: would you like next? And I referred to Beauty and
- 7:24Speaker 1: the Beast, which was a movie at the time. Question,
- 7:27Speaker 1: who are you referring to as Beauty and the Beast? Answer,
- 7:31Speaker 1: I don't know. I was referring to a movie, Beauty
- 7:33Speaker 1: and the Beast. Question, Have you had sexual relations with
- 7:37Speaker 1: any woman dressed as Snow White? Answer. No, I have not. Question. Mr.
- 7:41Speaker 1: Epstein later responds in the email. Well, one side is available.
- 7:45Speaker 1: Who's Mr. Epstein referring to? It doesn't appear to be
- 7:48Speaker 1: a movie. Question. Oh, it seems like he's talking about
- 7:52Speaker 1: a beauty, but I don't know who that is. Question.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Have you ever had sex with Mr. Epstein? Answer. No. Question.
- 7:59Speaker 1: Has Mr. Epstein ever had asked you to have sex
- 8:02Speaker 1: with him? Answer. No. Question, does it appear that the
- 8:05Speaker 1: characters Mr. Epstein is offering to you can say no? Mr. Sullivan,
- 8:11Speaker 1: that's pretty far out. I'm doing my best to remain silent.
- 8:14Speaker 1: That's a pretty far out question. And Sullivan is Jess
- 8:17Speaker 1: Daly's lawyer. Ms. Brignac, I would like for you to
- 8:20Speaker 1: answer it. Sullivan, can you read it back to us? Question,
- 8:24Speaker 1: does it appear that the characters Mr. Epstein is offering
- 8:27Speaker 1: to you can say no? Or does it appear to
- 8:29Speaker 1: be your choice whether to have the characters? Answer, I
- 8:32Speaker 1: don't think he's offering characters to me. Question, did you
- 8:37Speaker 1: and Mr. Epstein use Disney princesses as codenames for selecting
- 8:40Speaker 1: women for sexual encounters? Answer, no. Question, the committee has
- 8:45Speaker 1: also reviewed documents where Philip Levine uses the exact same codename,
- 8:50Speaker 1: Beauty and the Beast. Why would that be? Answer, who
- 8:53Speaker 1: is Philip Levine? Question, the committee has received credible accusations
- 8:57Speaker 1: that Mr. Levine is a man in Mr. Epstein's orbit
- 9:00Speaker 1: that committed assault against one of the assistants. Hold up.
- 9:04Speaker 1: Hold on a minute here. So that's credible accusations, but
- 9:07Speaker 1: what Virginia has said isn't? So Sarah Kellen Vickers is
- 9:10Speaker 1: more credible than Virginia? Is that what the committee is saying?
- 9:14Speaker 1: Talk about a shit show. Answer, I don't know who
- 9:18Speaker 1: that would be. Question, okay. The committee has reviewed other
- 9:22Speaker 1: documents that reference other Disney princesses. We would appreciate any
- 9:28Speaker 1: information you have in helping us to decode Who these
- 9:30Speaker 1: women are? Tinkerbell? Answer no. The Little Mermaid? Answer no. Cinderella's?
- 9:36Speaker 1: Answer no. Sleeping Beauty? Answer no. Question. Have you ever
- 9:41Speaker 1: met Frederick Fakai? Answer no, I have not. I may
- 9:44Speaker 1: have met him once, but yeah, but nothing to do
- 9:47Speaker 1: with Epstein. Question. Did you ever hear rumors of Frederick Fakai,
- 9:51Speaker 1: that he was involved in Mr. Epstein's assistance? Answer no. Question.
- 9:55Speaker 1: Same question for Mr. Levine. Did you ever hear anything
- 9:58Speaker 1: about Mr. Levine's involvement with... redacted is asking the questions
- 9:51Speaker 1: good morning mr staley my name is redacted and i'm
- 9:54Speaker 1: going to be asking most of the questions for the
- 9:56Speaker 1: minority today I'm going to cover some of the same
- 10:18Speaker 1: topics that the majority covered with you in the previous round.
- 10:21Speaker 1: That is not to make you repeat yourself, but rather
- 10:24Speaker 1: to make sure we have a clear record as possible.
- 10:27Speaker 1: I appreciate your patience while I do that. In addition
- 10:29Speaker 1: to the extent of my questions, or any of your
- 10:32Speaker 1: answers involve survivor names or any other survivor identifying information,
- 10:37Speaker 1: I ask on behalf of the minority that the majority
- 10:39Speaker 1: redact that information prior to releasing the transcript publicly. Question Mr. Staley.
- 10:45Speaker 1: I'd like to start with something that you talked about
- 10:47Speaker 1: briefly in the previous round. You testified you had sex
- 10:51Speaker 1: with a young woman on Mr. Epstein's staff, both in
- 10:54Speaker 1: a deposition, in a class action against J.P. Morgan, and
- 10:57Speaker 1: also before the UK's Financial Conduct Authority. As reported by
- 11:02Speaker 1: the New York Times, you said that in 2009 or 2010,
- 11:06Speaker 1: while visiting Mr. Epstein's New York residence, you had a
- 11:09Speaker 1: conversation with a young woman in her 20s who worked
- 11:12Speaker 1: for Epstein. You further said that the young woman suggested
- 11:15Speaker 1: that you come by the building she lived in on
- 11:17Speaker 1: the Upper East Side. According to you, when you visited
- 11:20Speaker 1: her apartment, you went to her bedroom, had consensual sex,
- 11:23Speaker 1: took a shower, and then you left and went back
- 11:25Speaker 1: to work. I have some questions for you about that encounter.
- 11:29Speaker 1: Do you remember when you first met this woman? Answer, no,
- 11:32Speaker 1: exactly no. Question, you said it was sometime in 2009
- 11:35Speaker 1: or 10. Can you be more specific? Answer, no, I
- 11:39Speaker 1: mean 2009 or 10. Question, Mr. Epstein was incarcerated. through
- 11:43Speaker 1: July of 2009, and on house arrest through July 2010.
- 11:46Speaker 1: Does that help you narrow down the period? Answer, I
- 11:50Speaker 1: guess it would have been after July of 2009 then. Question,
- 11:53Speaker 1: and you said previously that you met this young woman
- 11:56Speaker 1: at Epstein's New York home, correct? Answer, yeah. And again,
- 11:59Speaker 1: I don't know whether she was in her 20s or 30s. Question,
- 12:03Speaker 1: I asked if you met her at Epstein's New York home. Answer,
- 12:08Speaker 1: yes I did. Question, and you're also saying you don't
- 12:11Speaker 1: remember her age? Answer again. I think it was the
- 12:14Speaker 1: 20s or 30s. Question, and you said previously that you
- 12:17Speaker 1: talked to this woman a few times. Do you remember
- 12:20Speaker 1: exactly how you first met her? Answer, yeah. She was
- 12:23Speaker 1: an assistant for Epstein. Oftentimes when I went to his house,
- 12:27Speaker 1: he would not, you know, be available. And so I
- 12:29Speaker 1: would just engage in a discussion about, you know, just banter. Question,
- 12:33Speaker 1: and do you remember how many times you spoke with her? Answer,
- 12:36Speaker 1: I'm sure it would have been half a dozen times. Question,
- 12:39Speaker 1: did you talk to any other assistants for Mr. Epstein too? Answer, yes. Question,
- 12:44Speaker 1: did you have any sense of what they did as Mr.
- 12:46Speaker 1: Epstein's assistants? Answer, you know, he traveled a lot. He
- 12:50Speaker 1: had a lot of properties. It seemed to have an
- 12:53Speaker 1: administrative role to helping travel and management of his properties,
- 12:56Speaker 1: is what I thought. Question, when did you have a
- 12:59Speaker 1: conversation with her where you claimed she invited you to
- 13:02Speaker 1: the apartment? Answer, I don't exactly recall, but I think
- 13:05Speaker 1: it was 2010. Question, do you remember when it was
- 13:09Speaker 1: relative to when you first met her? Answer, I'm sure
- 13:11Speaker 1: it was months after I first met her. Question, months. Okay,
- 13:14Speaker 1: what exactly did she say to you? Answer, I don't
- 13:17Speaker 1: recall the exact conversation. Question, did she tell you why
- 13:20Speaker 1: she wanted you to come to her apartment? Answer, I
- 13:22Speaker 1: don't believe so. Question, so she just invited you to
- 13:25Speaker 1: her apartment, but didn't tell you why she wanted you
- 13:28Speaker 1: to come? Answer, I think it was suggested, but I
- 13:31Speaker 1: don't think she explicitly, no. Question, how would she suggest that? Answer,
- 13:36Speaker 1: you want to come by my apartment, you know, tomorrow morning?
- 13:39Speaker 1: I think that's suggestive. Question, so she just told you
- 13:43Speaker 1: when she wanted you to come by the apartment? Answer,
- 13:45Speaker 1: just in the morning is my recollection. Question, did she
- 13:48Speaker 1: tell you where the apartment was? Answer, yes. Question, and
- 13:52Speaker 1: your recollection is you had this conversation one day at
- 13:55Speaker 1: some point in 2010 and the next day, specifically the
- 13:58Speaker 1: next morning, you went to her apartment? Answer, that seems right, yes. Question,
- 14:03Speaker 1: how did you get into the apartment? Answer, it was
- 14:05Speaker 1: a concierge building and I went to the concierge and
- 14:07Speaker 1: said I was there to meet. Redacted. He called up.
- 14:10Speaker 1: She said, please let him in. He gave me her
- 14:13Speaker 1: apartment number and I went to the apartment. Question, you
- 14:16Speaker 1: testified that you had sex at her apartment. Please walk
- 14:19Speaker 1: us through what happened. Answer, I think we talked. I
- 14:22Speaker 1: believe we were sitting on the couch together while we
- 14:24Speaker 1: talked and one thing led to another and we had
- 14:26Speaker 1: an intimate engagement. Question, was the sex consensual? Answer, yes. Question,
- 14:31Speaker 1: how did you know that it was consensual? Answer, my
- 14:35Speaker 1: recollection is she invited me into the bedroom. Question, do
- 14:37Speaker 1: you remember what she said to you? Answer, precise words, no. Question,
- 14:42Speaker 1: are you aware that Mr. Epstein would instruct these women
- 14:45Speaker 1: in his orbit to have sex with men he was
- 14:46Speaker 1: connected to? Answer, no, I was not. Question, you've since
- 14:50Speaker 1: become aware of that, correct? Answer, I was not aware
- 14:53Speaker 1: of him instructing his assistants to have sex with men, no. Question,
- 14:57Speaker 1: as you sit here today, that is something that you
- 15:00Speaker 1: are totally unaware of? Answer, yes. Question, you previously testified
- 15:04Speaker 1: that you never spoke to Mr. Epstein about the encounter,
- 15:07Speaker 1: is that correct? Answer, correct. Question, so how do you
- 15:10Speaker 1: know that Mr. Epstein did not instruct this woman to
- 15:13Speaker 1: have sex with you? Answer, that's my assumption. I assume that. Question,
- 15:18Speaker 1: is it possible that instead of her inviting you to
- 15:20Speaker 1: the apartment, you just showed up? Answer, no. Question, were
- 15:23Speaker 1: you violent with her? Answer, no. Question, had you ever
- 15:27Speaker 1: been to this young woman's apartment or her building before? Answer, no,
- 15:30Speaker 1: I had not. Question, did you visit this young woman's
- 15:33Speaker 1: apartment or building after? No, I did not. Question, you
- 15:36Speaker 1: said previously you remember the building. Was on 66th Street.
- 15:39Speaker 1: Is it correct the building was 301 East 66th Street? Answer.
- 15:43Speaker 1: I don't recall the exact number. Question. Were you aware
- 15:47Speaker 1: at the time that Mr. Epstein housed women he trafficked
- 15:50Speaker 1: in this building? No, I was not. Question. Are you
- 15:53Speaker 1: aware of that now? Answer. No, I am not. Question.
- 15:56Speaker 1: Did you see the young woman following the encounter? Answer. Yes,
- 15:59Speaker 1: I did. Question. How often? Answer. A few times, I think. Question.
- 16:03Speaker 1: Was this at Mr. Epstein's home? Answer. Yes. Question. Did
- 16:06Speaker 1: you speak with her? Answer. I believe so. Question, what
- 16:09Speaker 1: did you talk about? Answer, it was just casual. Question,
- 16:13Speaker 1: did you engage in any sexual activity with this woman
- 16:16Speaker 1: at any point after your visit to her apartment? Answer, no,
- 16:19Speaker 1: I did not. Question, and to be clear, that encounter
- 16:23Speaker 1: that you claim was consensual was the first time that
- 16:25Speaker 1: you engaged in any sexual activity with this woman? Answer,
- 16:28Speaker 1: that is correct. Question, this woman sued Mr. Epstein for
- 16:32Speaker 1: sexual abuse and settled with his estate. Were you aware
- 16:35Speaker 1: at the time that Mr. Epstein was sexually abusing her? Answer, no,
- 16:39Speaker 1: I was not. Question, this woman carved you out of
- 16:42Speaker 1: her settlement with Mr. Epstein's estate, meaning that she reserved
- 16:45Speaker 1: the right to pursue legal action against you. Were you
- 16:48Speaker 1: aware of that? Answer, no, I was not. Question, were
- 16:51Speaker 1: you not aware of any of that up until this point? Mr. Sullivan,
- 16:56Speaker 1: his lawyer, his answer to that would require revealing attorney-client communication. Question,
- 17:01Speaker 1: if the sex that you had with this woman was consensual,
- 17:04Speaker 1: as you claim it was, why would she have wanted
- 17:06Speaker 1: to reserve her right To bring claims against you? Answer,
- 17:09Speaker 1: I don't know. Question, you previously testified in a sworn
- 17:12Speaker 1: deposition that this was your only Epstein-connected sexual encounter? Answer,
- 17:16Speaker 1: that's correct. Question, do you stand by that testimony? Answer,
- 17:20Speaker 1: I do. Question, did you meet any minor girls through Mr. Epstein? Answer,
- 17:25Speaker 1: I did not. Question, but you did meet a young
- 17:27Speaker 1: woman through Mr. Epstein, correct? Answer again, I met some
- 17:30Speaker 1: of his assistants who were in their 20s or 30s. Question,
- 17:34Speaker 1: and you met the woman that you claim you had
- 17:35Speaker 1: consensual sex with? Through Mr. Epstein, correct? Answer, correct. Question,
- 17:41Speaker 1: how many young women would you say you met through Mr. Epstein? Answer,
- 17:45Speaker 1: half a dozen. Question, other than the encounter that we
- 17:48Speaker 1: just discussed, did you engage in any sexual activity with
- 17:51Speaker 1: any of these women? Answer, no, I did not. Question,
- 17:54Speaker 1: did Mr. Epstein ever pay women to engage in sexual
- 17:56Speaker 1: activity with you? Answer, no, he did not. I'd like
- 18:00Speaker 1: to introduce as minority exhibit A, an email chain between
- 18:04Speaker 1: you and Mr. Epstein. All right, that's where we're going
- 18:07Speaker 1: to wrap up. And in the next episode, we're going
- 18:10Speaker 1: to pick up with question in the second email of
- 18:12Speaker 1: the chain. All the information that goes with this episode
- 18:16Speaker 1: can be found in the description box.
