- 0:00Speaker 1: What's up everyone and welcome to another episode of the
- 0:03Speaker 1: Epstein Chronicles. In this episode we're going to dive right
- 0:06Speaker 1: back into that lawsuit filed by New Mexico against Darren
- 0:10Speaker 1: Indyke and Richard Kahn. D. Zorro Ranch. Epstein Zorro Ranch
- 0:15Speaker 1: was located at 49 Zorro Ranch Road near Stanley, New
- 0:19Speaker 1: Mexico in Santa Fe County. In 1993 Epstein acquired the
- 0:22Speaker 1: land and approximately 7,600 acres that would become Zorro Ranch
- 0:28Speaker 1: from the family of the sitting governor of New Mexico,
- 0:30Speaker 1: Bruce King. That same year, Epstein also acquired grazing leases
- 0:35Speaker 1: from the state that gave him a wider buffer of
- 0:37Speaker 1: control and privacy around his property. Epstein acquired Zorro Ranch
- 0:42Speaker 1: through the Zorro Trust, an Ohio-based trust, of which Epstein
- 0:46Speaker 1: was then a trustee. The nearest city to Zorro Ranch,
- 0:50Speaker 1: Santa Fe, is over 30 miles to the north. and
- 0:53Speaker 1: the closest neighbors to the ranch are miles away. Epstein
- 0:58Speaker 1: began construction of the main residence at Zorro Ranch after
- 1:01Speaker 1: purchasing it in 1993, and eventually added eight guest houses
- 1:06Speaker 1: upon completion. The main residence alone was over 28,000 square feet.
- 1:11Speaker 1: The entrance to Zorro Ranch was off of New Mexico
- 1:14Speaker 1: State Road 41 down a dirt road approximately a half
- 1:18Speaker 1: mile in wild country with lots of open space and rattlesnakes.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Access to the property was gated with security controlling admission.
- 1:28Speaker 1: As one of the Epstein Enterprises survivors testified during the
- 1:31Speaker 1: trial of Epstein associate trafficker and girlfriend Ghislaine Maxwell, it
- 1:35Speaker 1: was this giant ranch, sort of, in the middle of nowhere,
- 1:39Speaker 1: and it seemed very empty on the interior, meaning there
- 1:41Speaker 1: really wasn't other people around. Another survivor describes Oro Ranch
- 1:48Speaker 1: as its own miniature town that housed its servants and groundkeepers,
- 1:51Speaker 1: with Epstein calling the main house... his castle. The Zorro
- 1:56Speaker 1: Ranch also featured a private airstrip and hangar and helicopter
- 2:00Speaker 1: landing pad. According to one source, Epstein spent approximately 50
- 2:04Speaker 1: days per year at Zorro Ranch and maintained five to
- 2:08Speaker 1: six full-time staff members as well as seasonal employees at
- 2:12Speaker 1: the ranch. At times, Epstein would arrive at Zorro Ranch
- 2:15Speaker 1: with only 24 to 48 hours notice and stay for
- 2:18Speaker 1: two to three weeks at a time. After Epstein's 2019 death,
- 2:22Speaker 1: Zorro Ranch was sold by the estate to a private
- 2:25Speaker 1: party in 2023. Defendant Kahn oversaw Zorro's sale. E. Survivor
- 2:32Speaker 1: Accounts Jane Doe 1 In 2006, the FBI interviewed Jane
- 2:37Speaker 1: Doe 1, who recounted interactions she had with Epstein and
- 2:40Speaker 1: Maxwell in New York and on Zorro Ranch in 1996.
- 2:45Speaker 1: The interview was conducted in connection with Southern District of
- 2:48Speaker 1: Florida's investigation of Epstein. Jane Doe One recounted that she
- 2:53Speaker 1: was underage when Epstein and Maxwell first assaulted her at
- 2:57Speaker 1: Zorro Ranch. Jane Doe One met Epstein during her junior
- 3:00Speaker 1: year of high school through her older sister, who was
- 3:03Speaker 1: employed by Epstein. Epstein expressed interest in supporting and assisting
- 3:08Speaker 1: Jane Doe One with her college application and tuition fees.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Epstein recommended that Jane Doe One consider traveling abroad to
- 3:16Speaker 1: participate in volunteer work in Asia. which he advised would
- 3:19Speaker 1: increase her qualifications for college applications. He offered to assist
- 3:24Speaker 1: in paying for the trip. Jane Doe One's mother was
- 3:27Speaker 1: contacted by Maxwell while Jane Doe One was a junior
- 3:31Speaker 1: in high school to arrange a trip for Jane Doe
- 3:33Speaker 1: One to visit New Mexico. Jane Doe One was led
- 3:37Speaker 1: to believe the trip was intended for Maxwell and Epstein
- 3:39Speaker 1: to get to know her better and finalize her summer
- 3:42Speaker 1: plans for traveling to Thailand. Epstein and or Maxwell agreed.
- 3:46Speaker 1: purchased Jane Doe One a flight ticket from Phoenix, Arizona
- 3:49Speaker 1: to Santa Fe, New Mexico. When she arrived in Santa Fe,
- 3:53Speaker 1: the Zorro Ranch manager picked her up. When she arrived
- 3:56Speaker 1: at the ranch, Epstein made it clear Jane Doe One
- 3:59Speaker 1: would be staying as a guest at the ranch. Jane
- 4:02Speaker 1: Doe One was the only guest at the ranch at
- 4:04Speaker 1: the time. In New Mexico, Maxwell and Epstein intensified their
- 4:08Speaker 1: efforts to groom Jane Doe One for abuse. Maxwell and
- 4:13Speaker 1: Epstein took Jane Doe One to a movie and they
- 4:15Speaker 1: went shopping. Maxwell and Epstein also discussed Jangdo Won's school
- 4:19Speaker 1: classes and family. One evening at Toro Ranch, Epstein asked
- 4:24Speaker 1: Jangdo Won would provide him with a foot massage. Jangdo
- 4:28Speaker 1: Won was taken aback by the request, and Maxwell gave
- 4:31Speaker 1: a demonstration. Jangdo Won proceeded to give Epstein a foot massage.
- 4:36Speaker 1: During the foot massage, Epstein asked if Jangdo Won had
- 4:39Speaker 1: ever had a massage. Jangdo Won replied that she had not.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Maxwell stood up and stated, that she'd give a massage
- 4:46Speaker 1: to Jane Doe 1. Maxwell led Jane Doe 1 to
- 4:49Speaker 1: a room with a massage table and instructed Jane Doe
- 4:52Speaker 1: 1 to get undressed and get on a massage table.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Jane Doe 1 was made to undress in front of
- 4:57Speaker 1: Maxwell and Epstein down to her underwear and remove her bra.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Maxwell began massaging Jane Doe 1 and instructed Jane Doe
- 5:05Speaker 1: 1 to roll over onto her back. After Jane Doe
- 5:09Speaker 1: 1 did so, Maxwell then pulled down the sheet, exposing
- 5:12Speaker 1: Jane Doe 1 to Epstein. who was nearby and continued
- 5:15Speaker 1: to hold a conversation with Jane Doe One throughout the massage.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Jane Doe One was very self-conscious and uncomfortable with Epstein
- 5:22Speaker 1: looking at her exposed body. Epstein asked Jane Doe One,
- 5:26Speaker 1: aren't massages great? Maxwell completed the massage by rubbing Jane
- 5:30Speaker 1: Doe One's body to include her breasts. The next morning,
- 5:34Speaker 1: Epstein entered Jane Doe One's room, got into bed with her,
- 5:38Speaker 1: and stated he felt like cuddling. Jane Doe One described
- 5:41Speaker 1: Epstein as spooning her. Maxwell entered the room and observed
- 5:45Speaker 1: Epstein under the covers of the bed with Jane Doe One.
- 5:48Speaker 1: In her interview, Jane Doe One recounted that later that night,
- 5:52Speaker 1: Epstein again entered Jane Doe One's room and sat on
- 5:55Speaker 1: the bed with her. She recalled that he stroked her
- 5:58Speaker 1: hair and told her how pretty she was. However, at
- 6:01Speaker 1: this point, Jane Doe One's interview, she became visibly disturbed
- 6:04Speaker 1: and was unable to recall the remainder of events for
- 6:07Speaker 1: that evening at the ranch. Jane Doe 1 was abused
- 6:11Speaker 1: and trafficked by Epstein and his associates. Jane Doe 2
- 6:15Speaker 1: Jane Doe 2 was a massage therapist who was interviewed
- 6:18Speaker 1: by federal prosecutors in New York and spoke with the
- 6:21Speaker 1: FBI and to media outlets about her interaction with Epstein
- 6:25Speaker 1: and Maxwell on Zorro Ranch. Jane Doe 2 reported to
- 6:29Speaker 1: the FBI that she performed massages at private homes. She
- 6:33Speaker 1: served as a professional massage therapist at Zorro Ranch for
- 6:36Speaker 1: three years, starting in 1999. Jane Doe 2 reported that
- 6:41Speaker 1: the massages turned sexual with Epstein. Maxwell told her, if
- 6:45Speaker 1: you have any more friends who want to come out,
- 6:48Speaker 1: they have to be good-looking, pretty, young, no hairy pits.
- 6:52Speaker 1: As with the others, Epstein used his power, influence, and
- 6:55Speaker 1: money to lure Jane Doe 2 and coerced her to
- 6:58Speaker 1: comply with his demands. Redacted. Approximately two years after Jane
- 7:03Speaker 1: Doe 2 started going to Zorro Ranch, she was given
- 7:06Speaker 1: a nondisclosure agreement but she did not sign it and
- 7:09Speaker 1: stopped going to the ranch shortly thereafter. Jane Doe 3
- 7:13Speaker 1: Jane Doe 3 testified in court in New York on
- 7:16Speaker 1: August 27, 2019, about being abused by Epstein at Zorro
- 7:21Speaker 1: Ranch in 2004. When Jane Doe 3 was 15, she
- 7:25Speaker 1: flew on Epstein's plane to Zorro Ranch, where he sexually
- 7:28Speaker 1: assaulted her for many hours. She stated, what I remember
- 7:31Speaker 1: most vividly was him explaining to me how beneficial the
- 7:35Speaker 1: experience was for me. and how much he was helping
- 7:38Speaker 1: me to grow. She continued, I remember feeling so small
- 7:42Speaker 1: and powerless, especially after he positioned me by laying me
- 7:45Speaker 1: on his floor so that I was confronted by all
- 7:47Speaker 1: the framed photographs on his dresser of him smiling with
- 7:51Speaker 1: wealthy celebrities and politicians. She stated, after he finished with me,
- 7:56Speaker 1: he told me to describe in detail how good my
- 7:58Speaker 1: first sexual experience felt. She recounted, that was the first
- 8:02Speaker 1: of many lies I was forced to carry for him.
- 8:05Speaker 1: the weight of which proliferated my trauma. She stated that
- 8:08Speaker 1: she felt powerless not merely because one man wanted to
- 8:12Speaker 1: strip me of my innocence, but because I was the
- 8:14Speaker 1: survivor of a system that just disenfranchises human beings, making
- 8:19Speaker 1: them vulnerable to pedophilic exploitation. The night after she was molested,
- 8:25Speaker 1: she and another girl took two of his ATVs and
- 8:28Speaker 1: raced them across the mesa. She crashed hers and expressed
- 8:32Speaker 1: concern that she would get in trouble. The other girl responded,
- 8:34Speaker 1: don't worry, no one gets in trouble for anything here.
- 8:38Speaker 1: Jane Doe 4 Jane Doe 4 reported that she was
- 8:41Speaker 1: transported to and sexually abused at Zorro Ranch while under 18,
- 8:46Speaker 1: in or around 2000 to 2001. Jane Doe 4 wrote
- 8:50Speaker 1: about her experience and described having been flown to Zorro Ranch,
- 8:54Speaker 1: comparing the property to Disneyland, and stating that Epstein referred
- 8:57Speaker 1: to the main house as his castle. Jane Doe 4
- 9:01Speaker 1: recounted being sexually abused by Epstein multiple times at Zorro Ranch.
- 9:06Speaker 1: She recounted that on one occasion, Maxwell and Epstein abused
- 9:09Speaker 1: her and another survivor, while she and another survivor performed
- 9:12Speaker 1: massages for Epstein in the movie room at Zorro Ranch.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Jane Doe 4 also testified in a deposition that on
- 9:20Speaker 1: at least one occasion, she was trafficked to New Mexico
- 9:22Speaker 1: to have sex with one of Epstein's associates. Jane Doe
- 9:26Speaker 1: 5 stated she first met Epstein in New York when
- 9:30Speaker 1: she was an aspiring ballet dancer. Jane Doe 5 was
- 9:33Speaker 1: approached by a member of Epstein's enterprise and was eventually
- 9:36Speaker 1: recruited to give Epstein massages. Jane Doe 5 alleged in
- 9:40Speaker 1: a lawsuit in the United States District Court for the
- 9:43Speaker 1: Southern District of New York that she began performing massages,
- 9:46Speaker 1: which initially were not sexual, for Epstein more regularly, and
- 9:50Speaker 1: that he spent much of the time asking questions about
- 9:53Speaker 1: Jane Doe 5, her professional plans, and her problems. She
- 9:57Speaker 1: alleged in her lawsuit that by the third visit, Epstein
- 10:00Speaker 1: informed Jane Doe 5 that he had the resources that
- 10:03Speaker 1: he would use to advance her career if she would
- 10:06Speaker 1: do what he wanted her to do. He began to
- 10:09Speaker 1: make the massages more sexual. During massages, Epstein would take
- 10:13Speaker 1: business calls. On numerous calls, Jane Doe 5 heard Epstein
- 10:17Speaker 1: using very angry and threatening tone and voice making it
- 10:20Speaker 1: known to the other party that Jane Doe 5, that
- 10:22Speaker 1: he had the ability to cause serious harm to powerful
- 10:25Speaker 1: people and anyone who did not cooperate with him. Jane
- 10:30Speaker 1: Doe 5 alleged that it was clear that Epstein was
- 10:33Speaker 1: extremely powerful and could cause serious harm to her if
- 10:36Speaker 1: she disobeyed. Epstein routinely paid Jane Doe 5 for the
- 10:40Speaker 1: sex acts, which he called massages. Epstein regularly reminded Jane
- 10:45Speaker 1: Doe 5 that she could afford her mother's rent, and
- 10:47Speaker 1: her own groceries because of the money he provided for
- 10:51Speaker 1: commercial sex. Epstein took Jane Doe 5 to Zorro Ranch
- 10:55Speaker 1: a number of times between 2007 and 2010 when she
- 11:00Speaker 1: was in her early 20s. At Zorro Ranch, she was
- 11:03Speaker 1: coerced to have sex with Epstein and other members of
- 11:06Speaker 1: the Epstein enterprise. All right, we're going to wrap up
- 11:08Speaker 1: right here. And in the next episode, we're going to
- 11:10Speaker 1: pick up with Jane Doe number six. All the information
- 11:14Speaker 1: that goes with this episode can be found in the
- 11:16Speaker 1: description box.
