- 0:05Speaker 2: Hester and Hester from.
- 0:09Speaker 1: Carrying each other to and Natty to carrying each other
- 0:12on the air, it's part Control the Live from the
- 0:18Mercedes Benz Baton Rouge Studio. It's off the Bench, all.
- 0:24Speaker 3: Right, welcome back, and it is OTB here on this
- 0:27Monday morning. It is always our pleasure to catch up
- 0:31with our next guest. It is a Baseball Hall of Famer,
- 0:34Atlanta brave legend, good friend.
- 0:36Speaker 4: Chipper Jones joins the show.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Chip.
- 0:38Speaker 4: What's going on, man? How you doing this morning?
- 0:41Speaker 2: Hellos? How we doing doing?
- 0:43Speaker 3: Fantastic man? Hope hopefully you're doing well there. How's everything?
- 0:47I mean right kind of and smack dab in the
- 0:49middle of baseball season, so I know you're still going
- 0:51out to games. Hopefully everything's going well your way?
- 0:55Speaker 2: Yeah, placing these boys around and seven of them I
- 1:01got to keep track of. Got a couple at Auburn,
- 1:03got uh, got one coach and got a couple you know,
- 1:07still still playing the game a little bit here right
- 1:10at the beginning of the summer. But hopefully that's about
- 1:13the end and we can get a little lake and
- 1:14beach time.
- 1:15Speaker 3: Man, Hey, I didn't know, like I didn't know you
- 1:17had a couple, uh at Auburn there, because look, I
- 1:20mean you and I and our friendship started back when
- 1:24y'all were playing the Padres. I was playing for the
- 1:26Chargers and I had on my L s U colors
- 1:29and obviously you know you were rooting for the Gators.
- 1:31You gave me a hard time, which any good SEC
- 1:33fans should I did. I didn't know that. I mean,
- 1:36you cross the picket lines and you got some at Auburn.
- 1:40Speaker 2: Well, I mean, I go, they got to go where
- 1:43they're accepted.
- 1:44Speaker 5: You know what I mean.
- 1:48Speaker 2: I'm not hating on anybody that'll take those two.
- 1:50Speaker 5: And try and educate them a little bit.
- 1:53Speaker 2: So uh, they're they're not playing any sports there and
- 1:56right brat life and chasing chasing some girls round. So
- 2:01it's uh, I'm just glad they are pointed in one
- 2:05direction and and focused on that direction right now.
- 2:09Speaker 4: Uh, there's no doubt about it.
- 2:10Speaker 6: Man.
- 2:10Speaker 3: I was actually thinking about you over the weekend, and
- 2:13that's why I reached out to you. I was watching
- 2:14Stetson the Hatters play baseball, and I know obviously you
- 2:18and your family. You'll have a history with that program.
- 2:21You've had somen that you know has played for the program.
- 2:23And man, I was rooting hard form Chip. I thought
- 2:25they were going to find a way that a hell
- 2:27of a baseball season forty one twenty two on the year,
- 2:30they beat some giants and uh, man, they're gritty.
- 2:33Speaker 4: They're gritty baseball team.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Yeah, it's uh it's always fun to watch them come
- 2:39regional time. The one thing about Stetson is, you know,
- 2:42one through nine they can play with anybody. You know,
- 2:46It's just that that once they get to their second, third,
- 2:50fourth line pitchers and their bench guys and whatnot, there's
- 2:54there's kind of a drop off that that bigger Division
- 2:58one schools don't don't really have. So I mean they
- 3:01can they you know, Bolster wins against Florida and Miami
- 3:08and Florida State. They play against all those guys. Actually,
- 3:11it was funny. The pitching coach for NC State is
- 3:14a Stetson alum and played for my dad while while
- 3:19he was at Stetson, So asked them, who's gonna be
- 3:21rooting for the coach for State? So it was I
- 3:27have a lot of interest in those games down there,
- 3:29and they made a good show and beat NC State
- 3:31the first game, but then Auburn and NC State got them.
- 3:35Speaker 3: Yeah, and you know you mentioned them being able one
- 3:37through nine, and you're right, and that's really like college baseball.
- 3:41Speaker 6: Now.
- 3:42Speaker 3: Look, it's always you know, baseball is a game where
- 3:44anybody can lose any given days.
- 3:45Speaker 4: Certainly we know that.
- 3:46Speaker 3: But now with the transfer portal, it's not just for
- 3:49the giants, Like the giants get really good players from
- 3:51smaller leagues, but also like players that maybe signed with
- 3:55some of those giants and maybe they didn't get the
- 3:57playing time that they wanted. A team likes and now
- 4:00is kind of benefiting from those players coming down to them.
- 4:03And you're right, like the depth might not be there,
- 4:06but if you just go one through nine, a team
- 4:08like Stetson, we saw it all weekend, i mean, four
- 4:12four seeds one on opening day alone.
- 4:15Speaker 2: Yeah, it was really kind of fun to watch, you know.
- 4:17You you look at the Right States and the Eastern Carolina's,
- 4:23I mean they're they're beating some of the top top
- 4:26notch teams you know, in college baseball. So it's a
- 4:29really fun competitive weekend to watch college baseball, you know,
- 4:35in all of this, and I'm sure you're seeing this
- 4:37on the college football side as well. You know, you
- 4:40really feel for the eighteen year old senior coming out
- 4:44of high school because they don't really want to find
- 4:49those guys and develop them. They want instant help, like
- 4:52you said, from some of these smaller colleges, where they
- 4:54can just get the transfers in, plug them into a
- 4:57hole that they have a need that they have on
- 4:59their ball a club, and and.
- 5:00Speaker 6: Here we go, yeah, and talking about young baseball players.
- 5:04The I was doing some doing some reading, and I
- 5:08know you've had done a little bit of coaching, a
- 5:09little bit of mentoring, but I did read that you
- 5:12are signed up to be the manager of the an
- 5:15All Star Futures Game. Is that right?
- 5:18Speaker 2: Yes? Yeah, sure, for the National League.
- 5:20Speaker 6: Awesome, I said, can you tell us a little bit
- 5:22about how that came to be.
- 5:23Speaker 4: I got to know the strategy.
- 5:25Speaker 3: I mean, I mean, yeah, yeah, are we sending everybody,
- 5:28We're stealing everybody?
- 5:29Speaker 4: What are we doing?
- 5:30Speaker 2: The strategy is pretty simple, stay the hell out of
- 5:34the way. These kids, they get this one opportunity to
- 5:40strut their stuff on the probably the biggest stage that
- 5:44that they've ever played on up until this point, and
- 5:48I think it's important for us to give them every
- 5:50opportunity to kind of, you know, struct what they got.
- 5:55I'm not putting any reins on them if they want
- 5:57to if they want to steal roll out, you know,
- 5:59if they want to go, you know, I may, I may.
- 6:02You know, Marquise Grissom, who's the manager of the American
- 6:05League team out our teammates, so you know, if it's close,
- 6:09you know, we got a three to zero count, I
- 6:10may throw the I may throw the take sign on
- 6:13somebody or you know whatnot. But uh, for the most part,
- 6:16we're gonna let these guys. We're gonna let these guys
- 6:19sling it and run and pitch. And the only the
- 6:22only constraints that I have as a manager in this
- 6:25type of situation is the from the pitching side. I
- 6:31need parameters from each and every organization so that we
- 6:35don't overwork one of their guys. You know, if the
- 6:39pitch limit is twenty, they're not throwing twenty one, you know.
- 6:42So it's it's that's really the only constrictions we have
- 6:47as managers.
- 6:48Speaker 4: Oh man, you throw that name out there.
- 6:50Speaker 3: Grissom going to be on the other side, and Flynn
- 6:52and I were talking about it beforehand and Neil Superstation
- 6:55and TB as and I'm sure you get that, you
- 6:58know those questions a lot because you grew up and
- 7:01like as a baseball player in everybody's homes as we
- 7:04were growing up, right, and so many different people, Yeah,
- 7:08I mean, so many different people got a chance to
- 7:10see y'alls great Brave teams. I mean, look, a kid
- 7:12from Louisiana like me became a Braves fan because of TBS.
- 7:16And that's way before you could get every single game,
- 7:19you know, across the country on all these different networks there.
- 7:22Speaker 4: So it's something that.
- 7:25Speaker 3: Had to be, you know, a pretty cool blessing the
- 7:27fact that you knew, like every night when nobody else
- 7:30was playing on national TV, every time y'all went out there,
- 7:34y'all had the chance to get, you know, be seen
- 7:35from Montana to Georgia, from New York to Arizona, Like
- 7:39it didn't matter the Braves were going to be on
- 7:41the TV.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Yeah, it's really something you don't think about when you're playing.
- 7:47And got it really kind of hit home for me.
- 7:51I was actually in the supermarket and I'm walking down
- 7:55the aisle and just probably seventy seventy five year old man.
- 7:59He comes up on the shoulder and he says, I
- 8:02just want to thank you. Yeah, And I said, what
- 8:06I do? You know, like you you were in our home,
- 8:11whether it was in front of the dining room table,
- 8:16or in front of the coffee table in the living room,
- 8:19or on the radio in my truck. You've been a
- 8:23part of my family for the last twenty twenty five years,
- 8:27and I just wanted to say thank you for all
- 8:29the entertainment that you've given us through the years. And
- 8:31it never really hit me until you could see the
- 8:37honesty in his eyes. And I was like, dang, you know,
- 8:40I'm sure that's pretty universal through Braves Country and really
- 8:46thankful that I got that opportunity. And hey, I was
- 8:49I was Planned B for the Braves in nineteen ninety
- 8:52and old Plan B kind of kind of worked out.
- 8:55Speaker 3: Yeah, I'd say that worked out pretty well. I mean
- 8:59to the TV yes point, Like I was a professional
- 9:02football player, right and I played on the West Coast,
- 9:05and like I was like, man, we get done at
- 9:07like five. The Braids are East Coast. They're gonna be like,
- 9:10well until like the second third inning. By the time
- 9:12I get home, I'm gonna get a chance to get home,
- 9:14get a little bite to eat. Braids are already on.
- 9:17It was like utopia, all.
- 9:25Speaker 6: Right, Tipper, we are here in the kind of sportsman's
- 9:28paradise down here, So I kind of want to take
- 9:29it from TBS to a different channel of the sportsman channel.
- 9:32You've had a long time show, Major League Bohunter. How
- 9:35involved are you in that still? I know this show
- 9:37has kind of like grown legs and there's a lot
- 9:38of people on it. How involved are you that. I
- 9:41know you said you got a bunch of kids your
- 9:43chaser right now, so I'm sure that limits the time
- 9:45that you get to spend on the woods.
- 9:49Speaker 2: Yeah, I make time for the woods. That's kind of
- 9:55my uh yeah, that's kind of my Hey, I get
- 9:59to recharge my bottom kind of kind of opportunity. But yeah,
- 10:03I started off with the Buck Commander, kind of the
- 10:05spinoff from Duck Commander, and rolled right into Major League
- 10:10bow Hunter. I've actually been out of Major League bow
- 10:12Hunter for the last couple of years, been kind of
- 10:14helping out with Tyler Jorden down there at Real Tree
- 10:18Outdoors and Real Tree Road. Trips. So still still got
- 10:21my foot in the door a little bit, you know,
- 10:24fifty three years old now, so I don't I don't
- 10:30cherish climbing twenty five feet up a tree anymore. I
- 10:33don't cherish a mile in walk to somewhere that I
- 10:37need to be, so I'm not as serious. But uh yeah,
- 10:41we still get a little footage done. I got a
- 10:43crew of about the four or five guys, camera guys
- 10:46and other guys that I hunt with that we you know,
- 10:49go all through the Midwest and and try to get
- 10:52some some pretty big deer footage. So still still pretty active.
- 10:56And all the kids, all the kids got Bo's man,
- 10:59they're they're like, I got freaking deer, you know, fake deer,
- 11:05and targets set up all over my yard, so they're
- 11:09shooting at everything.
- 11:11Speaker 6: Here's a real question that Louisiana people want to know.
- 11:14So you've probably done uh bow hunts all over the
- 11:17place that that most hunters would dream of. But have
- 11:20you ever been down to Louisiana in the marshes and
- 11:24gone both fishing?
- 11:27Speaker 2: I have not, but I'll tell you how redneck my
- 11:31wife is. She has been gator hunting in Louisiana and
- 11:36I have not, so she has actually done the deed,
- 11:41you know, down there, not with a boat, but I
- 11:45certainly is something that I always wanted to, but I
- 11:49just haven't gotten the opportunity. I've been saying I'm gonna
- 11:52come to Valley and Hester for years, for years and years.
- 11:57But uh, I was gonna ask you, guys, how about
- 12:01how that football game go?
- 12:02Speaker 3: This I've been waiting. I mean, we're twelve minutes in chip.
- 12:05I mean it didn't go well. Okay, the Gators kept
- 12:11the Tigers out of the SEC championship game. And look,
- 12:15it's been so long since you've been able to do this.
- 12:17I'm just gonna allow it.
- 12:18Speaker 2: You know, I'm gonna I'm gonna it has been a
- 12:21very very long I'm gonna take this opportunity to gloat.
- 12:25Not only that, the national championship basketball team what what?
- 12:30Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 12:30Speaker 2: Run they had licking my wounds a little bit. With
- 12:33Florida's lost yesterday at Eastern Carolina, but still riding out
- 12:37high Man wind Natties in one of the one of
- 12:40the Big three. You got to ride it.
- 12:41Speaker 4: Yeah, there's no question about it.
- 12:43Speaker 3: Actually caught up with Toddy Golden last week down in Destin,
- 12:46and I don't think that's gonna be the last one
- 12:48that Florida wins.
- 12:49Speaker 4: I mean, he is a hell of a basketball coach.
- 12:51Speaker 3: Young guy too. It was a great player at Saint Mary's.
- 12:53So yeah, the Gator football program got one on us.
- 12:56The basketball programs in great hands. But hey, they have
- 13:00to come to Death Valley this year and again. I
- 13:02do it every time we talk open invite, I mean
- 13:04you and the whole crew. Look, I got five kids,
- 13:06so I know what it means to roll deep. You
- 13:08can bring the kiddos as well. We'll get you all
- 13:11set up and ready to go. I mean the door
- 13:13is open. And also we'll set the Gator hunt up
- 13:15as well too.
- 13:17Speaker 5: Well.
- 13:17Speaker 2: If I bring all of mine and you have all
- 13:19of yours, we're gonna have to runt out a Motel
- 13:21six somewhere close, you know, to make sure we got
- 13:24vets for everybody.
- 13:26Speaker 6: Cruise ship again.
- 13:27Speaker 3: Again, I'm telling you, man, we will find a way
- 13:30to get it all taken care of. You just got
- 13:31to come down here. And if you come down here, man,
- 13:33you're going to fall in love with it. And we're
- 13:35gonna get a little bit of that Gator love out of.
- 13:37Speaker 6: Fish is about one of the most addictive, most fun
- 13:40things you can do. It's incredible.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Hey, I will say this. I want to give a
- 13:44shout out to the LSU crowd because when they came
- 13:50to it, so I haven't. I had a full time
- 13:53nanny and she's from Louisiana and she was like, you
- 13:57have to go. We have to go to the tailgate
- 13:59before the or LSU game, I believe for the for
- 14:03the SEC chamers the year Burrow and all those guys.
- 14:06And I went down there and I have never had
- 14:09so much funny. I didn't even go to the game,
- 14:11you know, I was just I went for and I
- 14:15had so much fun I met so many cool people
- 14:18and I was freaking stuffed at the end of at
- 14:21the end of the day.
- 14:22Speaker 3: Oh, there's no question about that, man. And I'm looking
- 14:26forward to SEC football as well. And it is always
- 14:29funny because you do follow Florida and you follow the
- 14:31entire SEC.
- 14:33Speaker 4: But I've actually like seen.
- 14:36Speaker 3: You have to like defend your Florida fandom because Georgia
- 14:40fans and I know you got love for Georgia too,
- 14:42but you being right there in Atlanta, man, I know
- 14:45you get that all the time, Like, what about Kirby
- 14:47and the dogs, You can't be loving Florida.
- 14:52Speaker 2: Well, I'm a huge fan of coach kurb Yeah, he's
- 14:56like I see him a few times a year and
- 15:00I'm like, man, you got another five star quarterback coming in.
- 15:04He's all giggly, you know, he's such a good dude
- 15:07and he runs such a great program. All of my
- 15:09buddies here, I'm the only one that's the Florida guy here.
- 15:12So it's all Georgia all the time. I will say this,
- 15:16you know I pull for Georgia quite a bit. Yeah,
- 15:19I think you have to. You know, when you have
- 15:22roots as deep as I do here in the Atlanta area,
- 15:24you know you need to pull for Georgia Tech in
- 15:27Georgia and all the other pro teams here in in
- 15:31the state and be loyal to him. So when they
- 15:35place Florida, obviously my roots take my roots takehold. But
- 15:40you know, golly, Georgia's got a juggernaut here and then
- 15:45a little bit disappointing last year, but I think they'll
- 15:49be back.
- 15:50Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, it is crazy like and you're right
- 15:53like again, like I was down in Destin with all
- 15:54the sec coaches and like people are talking about, yeah,
- 15:57a little disappointing for Georgia. And I was sitting there thinking, man,
- 15:59what standard that Kirby has built down there that a
- 16:03college football playoff loss after winning the SEC championship is
- 16:07a little disappointing.
- 16:10Speaker 2: Well, and you saw right at the end of Mark
- 16:14Rick's tenure here in Georgia, you know, ten and ten
- 16:18and two, eleven two, ten and three wasn't good enough,
- 16:22you know, And that's why you know, coach Kirby's here now.
- 16:27He's instilled kind of I mean, I can kind of
- 16:31relate from the standpoint of us as as Braves fans,
- 16:37and it didn't matter if we won the division or not.
- 16:40It only mattered how far we went in the postseason.
- 16:43And I feel like coach Smart has instilled kind of
- 16:47spoiled that crowd as well as you know, it doesn't
- 16:51matter if they win the Eastern Division. It only matters
- 16:54if they win the SEC Championship and how far they go,
- 16:58you know after that, which is it's a pretty high standard.
- 17:01But I kind of like trying to live up to
- 17:05those high standards.
- 17:06Speaker 3: Yeap, no question about it, all right, Chipper, you're the
- 17:08man we always appreciate the time. Again y'all hit him
- 17:11up on social media, shame him in to actually coming
- 17:15to Death Valley. We've been talking about this for like
- 17:17a decade. Now he's got to come. He's got to
- 17:20experience Death Valley. You know, Florida is probably gonna be
- 17:23a night game. And so, Chipper, we're going to get
- 17:25you here. This year is the year we're gonna make
- 17:28it happen. I'll take care of everything.
- 17:29Speaker 2: You just let me know, fellas enjoyed it. You'll be good.
- 17:33Speaker 4: Okay, all right, you as well.
- 17:34Speaker 3: Baseball Hall of Famer Chipper Jones good enough to join
- 17:37us here on O T bye.
- 17:41Speaker 4: I don't want my kids to go to Auburn. No,
- 17:44that's that's not an option.
- 17:45Speaker 3: I mean there's worse options. There's worse options. There's worse Yeah,
- 17:49I could, I could. I don't want to speak. My
- 17:53kids are only nine, not even which one.
- 17:56Speaker 7: Do you think would betray you of your five kids?
- 18:00Speaker 4: Uh?
- 18:01Speaker 6: Honey, I mean it makes a good point. You gotta
- 18:02go where they get in. You know, you got to
- 18:04go where they get in.
- 18:05Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, Hodey would take the highest bidder or
- 18:07you know, whatever situation.
- 18:09Speaker 6: But Florida. They're not going to Florida.
- 18:11Speaker 3: Sorry, Oh no, no, if there's three, if there's three
- 18:15that they absolutely cannot go to A and M Florida.
- 18:23I want to be sure I say this. I want
- 18:24to be careful here. I only got one more. You
- 18:26would think Alabama, but my kids wouldn't even think about
- 18:29that anyway. Clemson, Ohmson, can't go to Clemson.
- 18:33Speaker 6: There's a good ones can't go to.
- 18:35Speaker 3: Clemson, Clemson, Florida. A and M can't do it, won't
- 18:38do it. Huh what's your third? I mean the chalk
- 18:43answer is going to be Bama. But yeah, I don't
- 18:46think they would do that either. No, they wouldn't even
- 18:49like entertain that. Yeah, and my kids here sweet Home
- 18:51Alabama on the radio, they're like.
- 18:53Speaker 4: Next next skip about Oh no, not missing? I mean
- 19:00I want to go there. I'd much rather than go
- 19:03to Mississippi State.
- 19:04Speaker 6: Would you miss much?
- 19:05Speaker 4: Rather?
- 19:05Speaker 3: Not even remotely close, not even a conversation. I just
- 19:08don't want to go.
- 19:08Speaker 4: I did not raise a Brad or a Chad. They're
- 19:10not going there. And again, if you are a Brad
- 19:14ar Chad, that's great, that's who you are.
- 19:16Speaker 6: You should go.
- 19:17Speaker 3: You should go there and you can thrive. I'm not
- 19:19saying you can't, but that's just not who I raised. No, no, no, no,
- 19:25like they you know, they've you know, I'll leave it
- 19:28at that. I'll leave it that before I get too

- 19:33old miss fans and people shout out Bunky love.
- 19:36Speaker 6: A lot of brads love mini Chads.
- 19:39Speaker 7: I don't know Brad or Chad.
- 19:44Speaker 6: Flynn's big in the Brad chattyre.
- 19:46Speaker 3: Oh, well, Flyn's a business man. He's got to be
- 19:48big in ever, you know, yeah.

- 19:52man of the people.
- 19:52Speaker 4: Yeah, you didn't give us your three though, you said Florida.
- 19:55Speaker 6: Well, so I started saying it. Then I was like,
- 19:57wait a minute. Probably a lot of these teams are
- 20:00my clients in my eyes, so maybe I gotta not
- 20:04say anything.
- 20:05Speaker 3: Conflict adventure school my high schools Mississippi States had football coach,
- 20:11Come on, no.
- 20:11Speaker 6: You can't do this. It starts with an e damn.
- 20:19Speaker 4: One wrong.
- 20:22Speaker 7: Dance at the end, you got it, you got it wrong.
- 20:24Speaker 4: And then we were you didn't know. I knew that
- 20:29a big fellow.
- 20:30Speaker 3: He's gonna play offensive line at Oklahoma, Big Country fell.

- 20:43you know it.
- 20:46Speaker 4: You literally l Jeff Lamb Leonard Jeff Man.
- 20:54Speaker 7: I don't know how you pulled it out your ass
- 20:56last time.
- 20:56Speaker 6: You can't do it, you know, sometimes you blank on things.
- 21:00Let me, Jeff Lambs what I said?
- 21:06Speaker 3: All right, Devin Snow when we come back here on
- 21:10O TV off the bench Jeff Lamb.

- 21:21well I kind of crammed right before the show.
- 21:24Speaker 4: It was the only one you didn't know, and you
- 21:25got to.
- 21:25Speaker 6: It's the difference between memorizing and learning. True.
- 21:30Speaker 3: Uh, it doesn't take long to learn that All Star
- 21:32Toyota is the best around buying, new, leasing, renting, whatever
- 21:37you're doing. They've got every option available here we are

- 21:57how long you need it, and they are going to
- 21:59have it available to you.
- 22:00Speaker 6: Guess who called Miss Lisa a couple of years ago
- 22:02because of this show. Matt Flynn, your boy did because
- 22:05we were taking a trip. One of our kids got
- 22:07sick and I didn't want to fly, so we drove.
- 22:09We called All Star All Star.
- 22:15Speaker 1: Dan on LSU Football twenty four to seven. You're listening
- 22:18to Off the Bench.
- 22:21Speaker 3: We're actually locked into red beans and rice because Monday,
- 22:27and that means our boy, Devin snow aka hold Mayo
- 22:31joins us.
- 22:31Speaker 4: Now, my brother in Christ, Devin, how are we doing?
- 22:36Speaker 8: Oh?
- 22:37Speaker 6: Doing?
- 22:38Speaker 9: Been this nervous since the first Stadie Hawkins Dance. I mean,
- 22:43I'm following jimbo a j hawkinship? Is who am I following?
- 22:47Next week?
- 22:48Speaker 8: Cale Ripton.
- 22:51Speaker 3: Dude, Hey, I'll tell you this, dev And I'm honest
- 22:54to God, honest to God.
- 22:55Speaker 4: I mean this.
- 22:57Speaker 3: When I was putting the lineup together, it was our
- 22:59first show, right, new OTV want to come out of
- 23:01the Gates, swing in. We use some of our relationships
- 23:04with some of our boys. Now there's a lot of people,
- 23:07I swear to God, I mean this. There's a lot
- 23:09of people that I would have just cut and said Hey,
- 23:12we'll catch up with you next week. But I left
- 23:13you on for a reason, Dev, because your star mantar.
- 23:17Speaker 9: Well that's what I was gonna tell you. Man, I
- 23:19appreciate it because I know you could have had Peyton
- 23:21Manning in the slot. You know what I'm saying.
- 23:24Speaker 5: So the loyal he got cut.
- 23:26Speaker 4: Actually yeah, I very possibly could have.
- 23:28Speaker 3: But you know what, I did not reach out to
- 23:30him because my man, Devin Snow joins us on mondays
- 23:32It's day.
- 23:33Speaker 9: Yeah man, yeah, man, dude, I didn't know Chip I
- 23:36had seven kits. Yeah, I don't miss off the diamond either, huh.
- 23:44Speaker 4: Oh yeah, yeah, man, he's a gosh.
- 23:47Speaker 3: I mean he's kind of like the ages are are
- 23:51like a wide range too, like a college to in college,
- 23:54right yeah yeah, and I think he's got one that
- 23:56already finished college, just finished college, like in twenty twenty
- 23:59two ish.
- 24:00Speaker 4: And so look, I mean, who am I.
- 24:06Speaker 6: And I walked into that interview like I don't know
- 24:08really anything about.
- 24:09Speaker 3: Chipper besides like his baseball days. I don't know what
- 24:13I'm my first day here? What am I supposed to
- 24:15ask Chipper Jones?
- 24:16Speaker 5: Right?
- 24:17Speaker 4: Yeah, do you want to tell Dev what you did
- 24:19to try to come up with a question.
- 24:20Speaker 6: Oh yeah, So you know this is this beautiful new
- 24:24tool on the internet. It's called chat GPT. Yeah, chip GPT.
- 24:31I went in there and I said, all right, what
- 24:32should I ask Chipper Jones on a local sports radio?
- 24:38And I took a screenshot of it and set the group.
- 24:40Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 24:40Speaker 4: I was like a huge nerd over here.
- 24:43Speaker 9: That's that's favorite baseball player, right man, Dude, that's the
- 24:46only uh WGN and TVs.
- 24:48Speaker 5: Man, you to watch the brain of the car.
- 24:50Speaker 3: That's all we have, dude, I mean dev Honestly, I
- 24:53don't think I would have loved baseball like I did
- 24:56if that wasn't a thing.
- 24:57Speaker 4: But because like it became.
- 25:00Speaker 3: You go to school, you come back, you grab your snack,
- 25:02You go to football practice at like five, and you
- 25:04get back at seven and boom, the Braids were on
- 25:07and you sat down and you kind of ate dinner
- 25:09with the Atlanta Braids or the Cubs, depending on you know,
- 25:12WGN or TVs. But for me, at our house, like
- 25:15we watched the Braids while we were breaking bread together
- 25:18as a family, and it became like part of who
- 25:19we were.
- 25:21Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 25:21Speaker 9: One of my best friend's parents I used to go
- 25:22over this hash all the time. And this was before
- 25:25like working from home was even like known of they
- 25:28were work from home because they loved watching the Cubs
- 25:31on WGN so much that they couldn't.
- 25:33Speaker 8: Leave the house.
- 25:36Speaker 3: That was that Hunt Palmer's parents.
- 25:40Speaker 5: Yeah, no, it was. I'll just never forget that kind
- 25:44of like, I mean kind of like and I was gonna.
- 25:45Speaker 9: Bring this up since I got both y'all here, kind
- 25:47of like I'm never like when I think of YouTube,
- 25:50guys always go back to LSU Versus Florida two thousand
- 25:55and seven. And this was like before social media took
- 25:59over souls.
- 26:00Speaker 5: You know, we had Facebook maybe, but.
- 26:02Speaker 9: Anyway, I was fifteen, uh, and that was one of
- 26:06the first days I have a disrespect in my body,
- 26:08you know, just.
- 26:08Speaker 5: In and long. It was such a memorable day.
- 26:15Speaker 9: It was the atmosphere was contagious. It was like the
- 26:18most classic like L s U Death Valley Fields you
- 26:21can ever feel, tea Bag te Bow was in full
- 26:24of fact that day.
- 26:25Speaker 5: I'll never forget it.
- 26:27Speaker 9: I sat next to two floor the lady fans who
- 26:30in love with each other. And this is like before
- 26:31like we were even talking about.
- 26:33Speaker 8: Like lesbians and stuff.
- 26:34Speaker 9: You know what I'm saying, Like the first time I
- 26:35ever met one. You know what I'm saying, all in
- 26:37one day, just extremely memorable day.
- 26:40Speaker 6: Taylor. Is this the picture from the from that game? Yeah?
- 26:43Speaker 4: So sent Oh this is incredible.
- 26:46Speaker 5: Man.
- 26:47Speaker 3: Hey, what's the Hey, what's the end scene on those shorts?
- 26:53Speaker 4: Here we go?
- 26:54Speaker 5: So so I had black and moths.
- 26:56Speaker 9: I had dip and cigarettes all in one pocket.
- 26:59Speaker 5: You can see it, it's on the stick.
- 27:01Speaker 4: Well, I held those cargo pants I got. Shorts are
- 27:03so deep you could have put like three forties in
- 27:05there as well.
- 27:08Speaker 6: The two thousands were a weird time for fashion, man.
- 27:12I think I had those exact same shorts.
- 27:15Speaker 3: Were those the ones that unzipped like you could add
- 27:17a pant leg as well, and they unzipped and you
- 27:19could take the pant leg off.
- 27:20Speaker 4: Probably, no, no, you know what I'm talking about.
- 27:24Speaker 5: Yet?
- 27:24Speaker 6: Those those are old Navies for sure. Yeah.
- 27:27Speaker 9: That was either old Navy of Abercrombie and Pitched. I
- 27:30think I bought those at Abercron when I bought the
- 27:32kiss Me on.
- 27:32Speaker 8: My Irish shirt.
- 27:35Speaker 4: Jake kissing Irish.
- 27:39Speaker 6: Jake's from Streetport evangel he knows, he knows every piece
- 27:42of clothing at a.
- 27:43Speaker 3: We had me, we had the whole store, like just
- 27:46figured out. It was so damn dark in there. You
- 27:48had to have it figured out because you had to
- 27:49find your way to what it was.
- 27:51Speaker 4: But no, we had it.
- 27:52Speaker 6: Uh did you have rewards card?
- 27:54Speaker 4: I don't know. I didn't pay for it. I was
- 27:56boring on a budget. But no, I'm sure like my
- 27:59mom did.
- 28:00Speaker 9: They didn't even offer it. They didn't even offer it
- 28:02to me and my family. We just didn't look good enough,
- 28:04you know what I'm saying, Like, yeah, that at.
- 28:08Speaker 5: Least a four pack.
- 28:09Speaker 6: Dude.
- 28:09Speaker 3: We we were talking about the Buckle the other day
- 28:13and how aggressive the people that try to get you
- 28:16to buy something, and like you can't just go in
- 28:19there and like look around. There's no looking around in
- 28:22the Buckle because as soon as you walk in there,
- 28:25like you you got flies on you, just trying to
- 28:27get you to purchase something. And it's like, look, I'm
- 28:30all caught up on my affliction shirts. I don't need
- 28:33another one, right, But the Buckle is the most aggressive
- 28:36place in America try to go shopping at.
- 28:39Speaker 9: Dude, shout out of flicking man really had like I
- 28:41don't know what the percent was, but like at least
- 28:43i'd say thirty percent of the planet thinking that they
- 28:46could tap everybody out of just by wearing the shirts.
- 28:50It was incredible, bro, Like so many people would try
- 28:53and come warriers and stuff like when they were wearing
- 28:54that shirt like it.
- 28:56Speaker 6: Was it was probably that shirt was probably responsible for
- 29:00many people. You didn't knock the f out, no doubt.
- 29:04Speaker 8: Yeah what was that YouTube video?
- 29:07Speaker 5: What did he say?
- 29:08Speaker 9: Like giga bombs and uh, I can't remember that. Like
- 29:13those dudes were like you know, they were like the
- 29:15afflict afflicts and representatives right then, it's.
- 29:18Speaker 4: Like we grew up. He had no fear shirts. You
- 29:21know you had you had those.
- 29:23Speaker 3: Uh yeah, there was like a couple of different times
- 29:27that we can point to the shirt where like Tommy
- 29:29tough guy is gonna wear that shirt right and he's
- 29:31gonna affliction.
- 29:32Speaker 4: It's gonna be tap out.
- 29:33Speaker 3: Like for me, it's like if a guy had a
- 29:35tap out shirts like check the ears, no cauliflower ear.
- 29:38Speaker 4: We're good, We're good, we can roll cauliflower. Wear the
- 29:40TapouT shirt. You gotta be careful.
- 29:42Speaker 9: And anybody wearing the tap out shirt was probably their
- 29:45drink of choice was four locos.
- 29:47Speaker 6: Usually on four locos the original formula pretty good.
- 29:52Speaker 2: Yes, yes, but you could have a drink four you know.
- 29:56Speaker 3: God no, God no, God no dev I think I
- 29:59probably the answer. I don't think you know exactly where
- 30:03you're going to go for RB and R day today.
- 30:05Speaker 4: But do we have a general area?
- 30:07Speaker 3: Because we talked about this a couple of weeks ago,
- 30:10it's gonna be tough, like can you always like look,
- 30:12you put them out every single week and they're always fantastic.
- 30:14Speaker 4: I watch every single bit.
- 30:15Speaker 3: The aquarium was like tier one, but so we shall
- 30:18Met too, Like going over to shall Met was also
- 30:21tier one. So I mean the bar has really been
- 30:24incredibly high. So do we have a general area of
- 30:27where we're going this week?
- 30:30Speaker 2: No?
- 30:30Speaker 9: I don't, but it's only because I've been up since
- 30:33five am trying to get ready, you know, to follow
- 30:35up Chipa Jones, you know what I'm saying.
- 30:36Speaker 8: So I haven't really thought about it.
- 30:38Speaker 9: But the cool thing about the Internet is is they
- 30:41don't remember anything. So if I went to a place
- 30:44on Alby and all day you know fifty, they may
- 30:47not remember it. You know what I'm saying, that's very.
- 30:50Speaker 5: Go redo it.
- 30:51Speaker 9: Of course, when you do something for so long, you
- 30:53get better and better at it. Right, I don't so
- 30:56it's not a bad thing to go back to some places,
- 30:58Like I think I did that last week with Blue,
- 31:00you know. I think when I first went to Blue, OK,
- 31:03it was COVID. You couldn't even go in there. So
- 31:06I went back, did it the right way and it
- 31:08turned out good.
- 31:09Speaker 5: But no, I don't know.
- 31:10Speaker 9: But I'm always open to recommendations. So if y'all ever
- 31:12got recommendations, I know eventually I'm just gonna have to
- 31:15sell traveling every week.
- 31:19Speaker 3: I know you went up to Shrevepord not I mean
- 31:21like a year ago something like that, maybe even a
- 31:22little bit longer. But you're gonna have to start probably
- 31:26hitting every corner. See I I was talking to some
- 31:29folks yesterday and I don't see you're gonna you're gonna
- 31:33hate me for this time we haven't met.
- 31:35Speaker 6: I feel like we're brothers, but you're not. This isn't
- 31:36a good start. I don't like Red beans.
- 31:39Speaker 4: Hey, he's from Tech.
- 31:41Speaker 6: I know, I wish I did. I just don't, you know,
- 31:44doesn't like Red. Somebody felt the need to tell me
- 31:47that the best redbans the Rights and Batnaries is actually
- 31:50at a really kind of a strange location, the cafe
- 31:53at Bataries uh Orthopedic Center.
- 31:56Speaker 4: Really, that's wow, that's.
- 31:58Speaker 6: What I've heard.
- 31:58Speaker 3: Okay, Okay, I think yeahout to say, dev I think
- 32:02we need to make that happen that now. I know
- 32:04that you're like me and you want to throw this
- 32:07SB off the set because he doesn't.
- 32:09Speaker 4: Like red beans. But I'll allow it because he's from
- 32:11Texas and.
- 32:12Speaker 6: So I can honestly say I wish I did.
- 32:15Speaker 4: All right, Okay, I mean it still doesn't help it.
- 32:18Speaker 6: Okay, respect, I respect the game, Respect the game.
- 32:21Speaker 5: Okay, Yeah, it's all good. And miscona don't like him either.
- 32:24Speaker 9: I don't hold nothing against you all for that, you know,
- 32:27but maybe one day y'all start practicing tradition. I don't know,
- 32:29what is it that you don't like about red like.
- 32:31Speaker 6: Just a taste, just the bean part, beans zero beans.
- 32:38I just I started telling people that I'm allergic to it,
- 32:40just like.
- 32:42Speaker 4: Beans, navy beans, no trashh I.
- 32:46Speaker 9: Do the same thing with Mayo when I'm at the like,
- 32:48if I get something, I don't tell him, don't put
- 32:51any mail on it. I tell him, Hey, look, I'm
- 32:53allergic to this, don't do it. I'm not alert, but
- 32:56I just you know, they'll put mail on it if
- 32:58you don't tell him that.
- 32:59Speaker 6: Yeah, and it ended up what's the follow up questions
- 33:01like what do you mean you don't like beans?
- 33:04Speaker 4: Just like you did? You named every single bean you
- 33:05can think of.
- 33:06Speaker 9: Yeah, but even when you're tell them you alerted to Mayo,
- 33:10they still want to know more information. They like, I'm like,
- 33:15hold on.
- 33:15Speaker 8: Dude, I said, I don't want it.
- 33:18Speaker 3: I mean that's pretty passionate, Like when you start like
- 33:21your career and have the following that Dev has and
- 33:23it's literally hold the Mayo.
- 33:25Speaker 4: You gotta really hate Mayo.
- 33:28Speaker 5: Well and Blue Plates one of my sponsors.
- 33:30Speaker 8: That's what's crazy about all But you know, it just
- 33:34worked on I mean, it's.
- 33:38Speaker 3: So like twisted way, like it actually makes a lot
- 33:40of sense that they would be genius.
- 33:42Speaker 4: You know.
- 33:43Speaker 9: Yeah, the world now it's like everything that don't make
- 33:46sense makes sense.
- 33:48Speaker 5: You know.
- 33:49Speaker 6: Do you at this point of what you're doing with
- 33:52your show, do you still pay for red beans?
- 33:55Speaker 9: I do, man, because I'm not loud about when I
- 33:57go to places. So it's filmed on an iPhone, so
- 34:00you really can't tell what's going on. You can't even
- 34:04really tell that I'm doing it. And I'm not one
- 34:06of them people where I go and I'm like, hey,
- 34:08let me talk to the chef. You know, none of that, right,
- 34:10So I'm kind of incognito. Now. Granted as it's went
- 34:14on more people have started to recognize, realize whatever. But yeah, no,
- 34:19I'm very I'm very low key. I pay for everything,
- 34:23and uh yeah, I mean it's better than what I've
- 34:26seen from some people on the internet.
- 34:29Speaker 5: You know, they like to.
- 34:30Speaker 8: Charge these places and stuff.
- 34:31Speaker 9: This is like the main thing that like, if I'm
- 34:34gonna get money, I get it from sponsors, big companies,
- 34:37you know, stuff like that. But as far as this,
- 34:40this is, this is for the people.
- 34:41Speaker 5: Man.
- 34:41Speaker 9: We all we all embrace this tradition. Other than Flynn
- 34:45and Moscona.
- 34:47Speaker 3: Yes, well, hey, dev one of these weeks, one of
- 34:51these days, and I don't know because I know your schedule,
- 34:54We're going to have you in at like nine am
- 34:57and we are going to like make could call out
- 35:00to whoever wants to drop off their red beans and
- 35:04rice from their restaurant. We're gonna sit here and we're going, well,
- 35:07you and I and the laundry and Taylor Flenn's not included.
- 35:10We're gonna just enjoy some good red beans and rice.
- 35:12We can give it like a live review. That's something
- 35:14I've been thinking about over the last couple of weeks.
- 35:17And I know, look, I know you're driving obviously like
- 35:19an hour away, but uh, we gotta make that happen.
- 35:22Speaker 9: Yeah, no, let's do that.
- 35:23Speaker 8: That sounds like a genius idea.
- 35:25Speaker 3: I love it, all right, we'll definitely get that done.
- 35:28Follow Dev at snow like John on social media at
- 35:32hold the Mayo.
- 35:34Speaker 9: I mean, we gotta get Aaron Rodgers on this show.
- 35:37Speaker 5: Man.
- 35:37Speaker 9: We gotta see out what's going on with him in Louisiana.
- 35:40Speaker 4: I sent that.
